A great experience and a huge learning curve on how to fossick for the Thunder Eggs. We stayed the night at the campground and Don made us feel welcome from arrival. An additional pleasure was having ‘Bobby’ accompany us for the duration of our stay. Highly recommended.

These guys help show us what to do. It was the first time looking for thunder eggs. They show us what to look for and help us. The kids had a blast and us parents did too. The view of the mountains was amazing. They had a few chairs and shared tree to sit under and relax. They really look after the kids by having blocks they could stand on to see, the stones after they were cut and keep them apart of the entire experience. They had poppers to buy and little car/bikes to help keep the little ones happy. The kids filled up a bag of litter stones we purchased from the shop. The staff were friendly and helpful. They really made a delightful experience for the entire family and made sure it was enjoyed by the family. Taking care to think about the needs of their guests and providing for them. Thank you for a wonderful experience and the lovely cut thunder eggs we found. The nicest one will proudly be displayed on our book shelf as a beautiful memory of our adventure with you. Great find! I thought it woupd be boring, something just for the kids...but no, i was more committed to the hunt than i anticipated, was terrific having them cut to take home. They have bbqs (for byo snags), toilets, free drinking water, little bikes (balance bikes & trikes), enclosed shoes to borrow if needed, foam knealing pad, little step things to sit on which is amazing for bad knees or all us getting on in age..... I recomend to take a picnic rug and some snacks, toy buckets or toy cars for little kids for when rock hunting (& old clothes) then snags for after youre rocks have been cut. We also saw they have showers, camping grounds and swings. They sell beautiful array of gems, precious stones, jewellery & gem home decor items - all are fair prices for the pieces you get and the quality. Food wise they have a little cafe, icecreams and icypoles. Staff were lovely, very helpful and knowledgable, they had a seriously adorable friendly dog too. All of the staff seemed to genuinely love seeing our kids faces (and ours!) Light up seeing the incredible patterns and precious materials which were inside of our finds. Suprised how many they cut for us. We got to take uncut ones with us too. Worth the drive, easy to spend 4-5 hours here. With kids, take rugs, sone trucks or cars, and snacks - ours enjoyed dipping in and out of the thunderegg search. Without those toys and bikes it prob wouldnt have been as enjoyable for them, they can only look at rocks for so long 🤣

We had a wonderful experience and stay at Mt Hay! We loved spending the day hunting for Thunder Eggs and Rainforest Jasper, as well as making friends with Bobby the friendly puppy! We left with some lovely cut pieces and some uncut for us to learn ourselves. Thank you for a great stay 😊

Great experience fossicking for thundereggs and the having some of your finds cut open for you! Ice cream and drinks available after you have worked up a sweat! It was fun continuing to look through the piles to find your fortune! Camping available onsite for those interested.

Absolutely loved this side quest we went on during our travels. The guys running it were lovely and it was nice to be able to take the dog. They have a lovely dog called bobby who is a cheeky chap 🤣 You get so much for your money and if you’re lucky you will see the owners cutting up so awesome stones for the shop. The rock garden also blew my mind. Huge chunks of stones I would pay a lot of money for only $30pkg. If I didn’t have to fly home to Europe I would have handed over my credit card! Wish we camped there too!

What a gem of a place to stay and fossick. The staff are delightful and the camping is cheap. I spent the day fossicking for Thunder Eggs and was so delighted with my stash! They even cut some for me free of charge. If you love fossicking, this is the place to visit.

THE MINE , OR KNOWN AS MOUNT MORGAN GOLD MINE CO (LEASE) WAS ABANDONED IN 1981, AND SOLD TO MYSELF IN 2013, BY THE DEPT OF NATURAL RESOURCES , WHICH CONTAINS 3 LEASES, AND 2 separate properties. Which the leases contain approximately 300 homes, give or take. And as of 22/6/2025 have (not) Leased any land to anyone , in regards to TheMine, MountMorgan goldmine, or the town Mount Morgan. Which all are the same. RP

Lovely spot with a great view for a picnic lunch whilst on a road trip with our camper trailer. Good turning circle. Some steep cliffs, watch your step.

Sharp turn off to get to lookout. There is a path along spur for further views. Toilets available. Road a bit potholed.

Lovely views, however, really just a look out. This was great but write ups gave the impression that you could actually access the gorge. A wonderful view, but that's all. Disappointing. Very rough road in and badly signposted.

We visited from the Theodore side and went to the paved road, awesome feat of engineering! Definitely worth the time and the dirt sections of road were fine, although would need a 4x4 in the wet weather. Be respectful as you will be driving through properties witb unfenced roads and national forest. Make sure to visit the ladies at the Mad Cow coffee van on your way out of Theodore!

Great historical museum. Heaps of old houses and things. The area looks relatively small but it can actually take a whole day to actually explore it properly. The staff are all very friendly and proud to be showcasing this great town and the great town history. Also, I quite like the giant sign outside. It's almost a tourist attraction in itself.

An absolute must see! Could easily spend a half a day here. So much information and it truely is snapshot back in time. There’s a cool kids activity that kept them engaged. The ladies were so lovely!

I had heard alot of good things about this museum, and I wasn't disappointed. It's so easy to spend several hours here exploring all of the buildings and historical displays. The museum is clean and set out like a snapshot from our past.

What a great place! The overall design is an old town and it has all the old establishments you would expect to see. The general store was excellent and the old bank of New South Wales head a complete interior from an old bank. My wife and I loved it. Cheers and enjoy

A well designed set up. It allows you time to explore each aspect of a typical village as each building represents something. E.g a butcher, a school, a bakery, a general store etc. Fantastic. Would be great for school tours.

Had the pleasure of family members to enjoy a visit to the Miles Historical Village Museum located at 141 Murilla Street,Miles QLD 4415. This historic place is ideally located right across the road from the Miles Crossroad Caravan Park, where we enjoyed a couple of relaxing days. The Miles Historical Village Museum began in 1971 by the Miles & District Historical Society & through the many decades & various committees has created a wonderful variety of buildings that house a great range of items from the early settlement. I was most impressed with the attention to detail of everything that was on display in the 34 buildings that bring the rich & colourful historical heritage of the Western Downs region 😀 Full marks go to the staff onsite that made all of us visiting feel most welcome 🙏 You definitely need a good few hours to see everything & if that is not possible, you can obtain a pass to come back at your leisure during your time in Miles. Some of the buildings to mention that houses an extensive war memorabilia, the building that houses the Shell collection & Lapidary display are a snapshot of what is worth time seeing 👀 😀 The main museum houses a large range of items from the earliest days, & the attention to detail is definitely on display 👌

A magnificent country museum. Highly recommend a stop and look around this splendid display. There is nothing left out, educational and very interesting. We loved walking around the different buildings, the information to read.

So glad we stopped in here. Not only did we get useful information about wanting to visit Barakula forest but we discovered Peter Jeffery. His petrified wood pieces are just beautiful. He spends over 20 hours each grit getting those pieces so smooth. These locals are great sources of information and very helpful. Thanks everyone!

Local Chinchilla pride really shines through here! We spoke to the permanent staff member (I’ve sadly forgotten her name, bit tired after a big trip!)—she was an incredibly friendly and vibrant presence, spoke so highly of the wonderful volunteers, and most importantly, provided valuable information that has inspired my partner and I to make another trip to the region in future! The centre also has an excellent selection of locally made arts and crafts, each with a story. We were particularly touched by the memorial seat acknowledging all the former long-serving volunteers.

Totally recommend taking the time to visit this amazing little museum, even for the locals, I was very surprised with one item on display. On one of our family get-togethers, one of my daughters had to drop her vehicle in for repairs, so we decided to have a look through the museum. In tow were my 2 and 3yr old grandbabies who also thoroughly enjoyed the time spent wandering around being amazed with all the interesting pieces on display. My daughters and I were totally surprised and had a great time, needless to say the time got away from us and the vehicle was ready before we finished our tour. It is a credit to the historical society. Allow yourself a good few hours to leisurely meander through and take it all in.

A fantastic, volunteer run, local historical museum. The museum is set out on a large area, with lots of separate buildings showcasing different parts of the area's history. The exhibits are well kept and are very interesting. On the first Sunday of each month, they run mini trains around the grounds of the museum, that are great for the kids to ride on. They also run a sausage sizzle and have drinks and baked goods. There are large amounts of old machinery to see and on the days that they run the trains, they will sometimes start some of them up. If you want an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours with the children on the trains, or just looking at the area's history by yourself, then I can definately recommend the Chinchilla Historical Museum. It is a testament to the hard work of the volunteers that put it all together.

Nice experience can spend an hour just wandering around

My family and I including 2 toddlers where very impressed with the set up and amazing history. The office man was really lovely and helpful. It took us about 45 mins to an hour to see everything would definitely do it agian!!

A beautiful property. A heritage listed property that has been beautifully restored to reflect an age of time gone by. Staff were friendly and helpful. You can rent the whole house for your function. The gardens are well maintained and are perfect for weddings or special events. Some of the rooms have bathrooms attached, which are beautifully appointed and very tastefully done. Some rooms have just a sink whilst others have a mini fridge and a TV. Unfortunately not all rooms have these luxuries. Some rooms have to use a shared bathroom and toilet which is in the hall way that you share with other guests. I would suggest that every room should have a mini fridge and tea & coffee making facilities at the bare minimum. Perhaps in years to come all rooms will have their own en-suite which would be nice. Once again, the staff were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble. About 1/2 an hour outside Dalby, if you are not organizing catering you will need to travel into Dalby for food. A beautiful place for a function, I would highly recommend.

Jimbour House is the perfect combination of traditional class and history, with Australian charm. As soon as you walk around and inside the homestead, it's like you've entered another time. The property has beautifully manicured gardens and the most incredible sunsets! The staff provide incredible service with care. As a Wedding photographer, Jimbour is one of my absolute favourite venues to photograph as the options are honestly endless. 100% highly recommend Jimbour House for your Wedding.

Very well presented & maintained gardens. Unfortunately the house isn't open as frequently as the gardens. But it is well worth visiting the gardens & historic memorabilia displays which was only a $10 fee.

Beautiful homestead and gardens, great history described in the many story boards around the buildings and through the gardens. Enjoyed a lovely morning here. Well done to the Russell Family.

The grounds are open for viewing 8am-4.30pm daily for a $3 entry fee in a honesty box. The grounds are gorgeous- free walking map upon entry also helps guide you around. The edible kitchen garden was closed when we were there due to drought conditions but otherwise the place is a sight to behold. Our 1 year old loved running around and finding fun things to collect like fallen leaves. Will definitely be back and will take a picnic to enjoy the grounds for a bit longer. The house is only open for special events as it is still a residence.

Beautiful trail on the Tree trail. Check out Little falls. Easy parking, easy walk with clear trails and only gradual incline. A couple of steep bits. Off road wheelchair would access with assistance. A couple of stops, so you can just go as far as you like. First water fall is only 700 meters from trail start. I went on a midweek day. So only saw two other people.

A short drive from Dalby, brings you to a small but beautiful mountain range. It offers expansive views from many lookouts and well maintained hiking trails. Don't miss Paradise Falls, Little Falls and Mt. Kiangarow. See Bunya Pines (of course!) Xanthorrhoea trees and Subtropical Rainforest, lovely clear streams and a multitude of birdlife including the amusing Catbird! Highly recommended!

A really good national park when there's been a bit of rain. I've been here quite a few times, but 20 years or more ago, and the waterfalls were very paltry, but right now, they are magnificent. And it's so lush under the forest canopy. The bunyas are magnificent, there's some very cool strangler figs. Lots of wildlife, birds especially. And such a different climate to the one we left in Brisbane. Cool nights, pleasant days. Finally, there are enough walking tracks to keep you busy for two full days walking. I strongly recommend a visit

Always love coming up here. The air is crisp and clean, the forest is awesome, with Bunya pines that you can't get your arms around. Cold enough for cozy fires in your cabin - toasted marshmallows etc.

Amazing hiking. Keep your eyes peeled for the bower bird structures and their blue decorations, and listen for the call of the whip bird! A great place to take a break from the heat of lower elevations.

Had the best experience! Cowboy up is a fantastic place to go for a trail ride. The horses are very well looked after and all have lovely personalities. The country side was absolutely stunning. It was the perfect trail ride experience for me and my friend. Highly recommend going! Gill and Peter are the nicest and most down to earth people you will come across. We will definitely be going back 😊

Excellent trail ride on a beautiful property. If you’re in the area we highly recommend going. We went on a clear Sunday morning, potential to see cows, koalas and bird life.

We had the best time with Cowboy up! This was the perfect place to get our horsey fix, surrounded by such beautiful country. The horses are so so loved and well looked after, which can be rare for trail ride companies. Gill and Peter are such genuine people with a passion for what they do, the way they welcomed us instantly made us feel at home. They shared many stories, advice and travel tips which went above and beyond any other trails we have done before! I would highly recommend Cowboy up and we will 100% be back!

I went riding here yesterday with my two best friends, and we had so much fun! Peter and Gill were so kind and made an effort to talk to us and help us get a real feel for some western riding, the property and trail were absolutely breathtaking and the horses were so beautiful and so well behaved! My friends and I will most definitely be back for another ride!

We are a family of three, with a daughter 7 years of age and we had the most wonderful experience with beautiful horses and fantastic leaders. Peter and Jill are knowledgeable, experienced horse people who show dedication and love for their horses. We have done a few trail rides in the past, and this was the best so far. The horses are so gentle, happy and well cared for. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful morning spent with Gill, Peter, and horses Belle and Tubby on their beautiful property. In our 60's/70's we were a little nervous about getting on a horse but were given expert and easy to understand instructions from Pete before heading off on our 2 hour trail ride. Relaxed, safe and very tailored to our individual needs. Jill and Pete were fabulous hosts, welcoming, informative and great fun. Highly recommend, get out and enjoy. Varri and George.

I was blown away by Lake Broadwater. It has the most stunning sunsets & sunrises. Toilet facilities with free hot showers. Caretakers are so welcoming & keep the facilities immaculate & clean. It's peaceful & full of pristine nature. Has playgrounds for the kids, Outdoor kitchen area, Bird sanctuary to check out & overall. I cant wait to bring my kids to my next visit. Very affordable powered and unpowered sites. Easily has become top of my list for camping getaways. Thank you guys for this amazing place you have!

Another nice stop on our travels, About 20 minutes out of Dalby, Lake Broadwater, some powered sights (first in best dressed) amenities clean, good hot showers, can camp either end of area, camp kitchen, fire places, $7.25 per person a night caretakers come around late afternoon to collect, and can buy firewood then. $10 a bag, nice place to relax, with cheeky birds to entertain you 😊 Also good play area for kids, would be awesome in the warm weather

A beautiful spot to camp or day trip right on the lake and wake up to views like this. Facilities are excellent clean modern and easy access. Plenty of shaded sites fire pits some powered sites lots of unpowered , BBQ’s camp kitchens with power, kids play grounds even a function hall you can rent right on the waters edge. It’s a national park so no pets but the sunrises are exceptional. Friendly rangers come around to welcome you and collect the fees $29.00 for two people for two nights powered or unpowered. We shall be back.

Amazing On-Site Management. Clean, hot showers, plenty of room for everyone. Great for kids, fires in pits. Thank you to the Shire for outstanding facilities, the park has street lighting for safety.

A very nice, clean and quiet camping ground. Dont book on line, just rock up and use the envelopes provided to put your payment in. Powered and non powered sites, on a first come first served basis, there are no bookings. You can also pay in the evening when the staff come around (they also offer firewood). The sites are all on hard standing gravel. No dogs allowed! Very clean showers and toilets. All in all a very nice place to stay and only $7.25 per person

Amazing place to camp! Just had my first visit and will be back for sure! Stunning lake, wonderful wildlife, and the facilities are amazing. Plenty of space to setup, never felt crowded at all and the caretakers were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Arrived to stay for 2 nights but ended up doubling that. We camping next to the creek which was nice. It holds fish but we didnt have any luck Friendly and helpful caretakers Kids loved the farm animals and lambs in the nursery. Lucky enough to have the place just about empty so a very quiet stay Great history and displays around the woolshed complex Very clean and tidy facilities

We love coming here!!!! Partner and i like to come to chill and just take in the peaceful views of the country life. Well maintained and really nice caretakers Ang and Rod. They make you feel welcome thats for sure. We love this place as it allows us to have our dogs. Lots of land for them to play in off leash area, some awesome swimming areas from them too. The Kedron Wavell RSL Sub Branch Volunteers, along with the Liaison students from the local secondary schools around the Chermside area, had the pleasure of visiting the Australian Army Flying Museum located Bawden Boulevard (formerly Museum Dr, Oakey QLD 4401. The Australian Army Flying Museum is about 4 kilometres north of the township of Oakey & is only a short drive from the Oakey Army Aviation Centre. The museum provides an insight into Australian military aviation from historical to contemporary perspectives & is always looking to expand its history of aviation. Scott, who is a retired Army veteran of 32 years, is now one of the museum staff provided an excellent overview of the history of the aircraft on display. I was particularly impressed with the extensive knowledge & detail that Scott provided of the history of the various wars that Australian military personnel fought in from World War 1 right through to the present time. The military aircraft on display are in pristine condition with the museum staff & volunteers putting in a lot of time to ensure people that visit are provided with the best facilitated display & information. The Australian Army Flying Museum is open to the public from Tuesday through to Saturday from 10.00 am. to 3.00 pm & is free to visit. This museum is located on the ground floor level, with wheelchair access toilets onsite. There is adequate open air parking available with disabled parking close to the front entrance to the museum. Kedron Wavell RSL Sub Branch members & students were definitely impressed with the excellent display & the thinking going forward by the RSL that it could become an annual visit.

This was a great experience. Learnt so much and our 3 year old had a blast being able to actually go inside the Chinook helicopter. Staff there were also amazing and more than helpful.

Free Entry, Easy to park with plenty of static displays. Groups (with advance notice) can have a guided tour - great for kids as they allow kids to sit in the actual aircraft! Only downside is there’s no souvenirs. Lost opportunity that could help generate revenue for the museums upkeep.

Can not recommend highly enough. Outside of the AWM, one of the best museums for aviation I have been to (I have been to a few..). Staff were very informative and helpful, great with the kids, and plenty of interactive things for adults and kids. Massive bonus, it's free.. should at least be a gold coin donation. This was our 3 visit here over a number of years, we had Scotty as a tour guide, his commentary was funny at times and full of great information. Check for operational days and hours, there are no entry fees.

Interesting place to visit, cool experience to be able to climb in the back of a Chinook. Was lucky enough to see Blackhawk flying around as well

A great place to stop and get your bearings and to get detailed maps and information about the surrounding areas and their multiple tourist and local attractions. The staff are always genuinely friendly and knowledgeable and the toilets are always impeccably clean and free of drugs paraphernalia.

The best set up and the best people well done

Lovely little spot to stop for a break. Good toilets. Safe and easy. Good seating. Great info centre. Loads of parking - easy fit a van etc. Use to be a lovely little café over the road but I think it was closed.

Trail was moderately well maintained but otherwise nice! There were a lot of old trees blocking the main routes and not enough signage. But if you’re keen for a 5-10km run that loops back, it’s a good route with minimal elevation. Would love a bit more signage and perhaps better mapping

Nice forest park with a lot of ferns and old trees. Can experience bio diversity than other forests near Toowoomba and Gatton reagoen. You can feel the darkness and listen to lots of birds inside the forest. Sand caves are very attractive. Insects and birds can be found. Best to visit in the morning.

Beautiful rainforest and walks just wish there were abit more direction and better mapping our 1.9k walk ended in a 6k walk which was fine for us but not if someone isn’t as fit as us or starts later in the day. Very confusing map highly suggest more signage or even just arrows would be wonderful so we get a sense that we’re going in the right direction.

Very nice rainforest walk. I did get some leaches on me last time and ticks are around so take some insect repellent with you. Otherwise picturesque

Serene, Scenic and wonderful. A short walking trail to get lost in the woods. This has been my quick get away in the nature. Make sure you pick up your own trash as there are no Bins to dispose . You are there to have some peace and you will end up having some 💕💕

The place has a few great walking tracks, for beginner to intermediate treckers. Nothing hard or too steep. Went with my partner and 2yr old boy. He loved it. It's a beautiful walk with a bit of rainforest type areas. Highly recommend it. Doing almost all tracks too roughly 2hrs

Interesting place indeed. So much Australian History. This place makes you proud to be an Aussie. I loved all the old carriages especially the caravan. I also thought the Cobb & Co. Journey's were fascinating, I could have watched and read it all. There were boxes and suitcases around the place showing you what families lived in the area. That was clever. The Saddlery and Wheelwright workshops were very interesting. I liked how you can go to classes to learn these trades. Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers pot plant winners were on show throughout the museum, very colourful. As I was an out of towner, it costs me $12.50 but if you lived in the Toowoomba region it was free. It's a small price to pay for some wonderful Australian history. I highly recommend.

This is a nice place to visit. Kept the kids happy with the kids stuff in certain areas... perfect marketing and less stress for us adults. Entry fee was just a little expensive for what it is..

Was there for the intro Blacksmith course which was fun, practical and pretty Zen. Knowledgeable instructor, great bunch of participants, good gear and very hands on. Thoroughly recommend. Good interpretation in the museum and full workshops where they rehab old coaches.

Few artefacts to enjoy. The carriages and buggies were everything. They're amazing. But not worth a Brisbane Toowoomba return trip sadly.

Great museum, it is very well laid out with good access to all exhibits. Wheel chair acces s makes it a good place to visit for those with mobility issues. A must see visit in the city centre as part of the Carnival of Flowers and generally. Lovely spot to sit, relax, have a picnic and just enjoy the beautiful nature and fragrant flowers. Tip: I recommend parking close by at Secure Parking, 183 Herries St ($7 for the day) during the event.

A beautiful time of the year for the Laurel Bank Park when the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers are on. The parks gardens are transformed into children's book and movie characters. There is so much to see and photograph.

Wow first time ever visiting toowoomba flower display and it is now definitely on our comeback to place list for the flower shows every year simply the best displays in qld and a must visit if you are in toowoomba at this time of year. Unfortunately my photos dont do it any justice.

Visited during the Flower Festival season. The botanical displays are magnificent and such a vast variety of trees, gardens, lawns and floral beds. Beautifully planned and maintained. I felt immersed in nature, it was so calming.

Visited the Toowoomba Flower Festival at Queen’s Park — it was crowded but absolutely beautiful! The gardens were perfectly maintained, full of colour, and the whole place had such a cheerful vibe. Loved that it’s dog-friendly too. Hats off to everyone who worked hard to make it look this amazing! 🌼

It's a wonderful time in Toowoomba. Gardens throughout the town are full of vibrant flowers and creativity. Lots to see and do in Queens Park, from shopping at the local farmers markets, going to the amusement park, winding through the maze or strolling through the park. I highly recommend Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers 💐

This is a stunning, well maintained park. There are trees planted along all of the paths offering shaded areas, and the lawns are kept neat and tidy. The Flower Festival really makes great use of the garden beds in September and October, and the option of various playgrounds here is appealing. There are wide open spaces to kick around a ball in and various paths to get around the vast park area with. A beautiful spot.

Beautiful location. Visited in October so was a bit after the peak time of the Carnival of Flowers. Garden displays were still amazing in the range of plants and colours. Is a beautiful oasis to visit at any time of the year.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Picnic Point Restaurant in Toowoomba with a large group of 20 people. From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of exceptional and the view was amazing. Pre-ordering our meals before arrival made the service smooth and efficient, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time together. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and there was a fantastic variety that even the children loved. The wait staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring our needs were met with genuine care. A special shout-out to Mason, who played a key role in making our visit so enjoyable. His friendly and professional approach truly enhanced our dining experience. We are sincerely grateful for the outstanding service and high-quality food. Inside was cold on a hot day, so we sat outside in the shade with fabulous views. For me the acoustic inside isn't great either, quite loud, but as I said, very nice to sit outside. Staff is very friendly and food was delicious and well presented. I can definitely recommend this place.

Loved our time having breakfast here with a beautiful view 🤌🏼 the staff was so friendly and lovely especially the guy that was cleaning and setting up the tables early morning, loved his vibe 🙌🏾. Our breakfast was yummy definitely coming back next time we’re in Toowoomba 😊

My best friend and I had lunch here today. The place is quite spectacular, very modern, clean, stylish and spacious inside. Its has a very pleasing and friendly atmosphere. It's beautifully lit and has views that you simply couldn't afford if you had to pay for them. That staff were superb, with unmatchable enthusiasm and friendliness. The food was lovely, delicious, well made and beautifully presented. Downsides - none really, other than a lack of internet enabled food ordering from the table. We got stuck behind someone who simply had no idea what they were doing, and it took her 15 minutes to place her order. That's ridiculous, but not the restaurant's fault. Thanks, Mason, you're awesome! Very, very, highly recommended! 12/10!

A lovely and enchanting place, perfect for a relaxing walk or taking beautiful photos. We even took a little back way to reach the gardens, which made it feel more adventurous. The only downside was that it was quite busy, so it was hard to get photos without people in the background. Still, it’s a wonderful spot to stop by and enjoy.

Lovely garden! Very tranquil when not busy, avoid during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers if you want peace! The cherry blossoms are blooming currently which was also a huge bonus (26/09). Parking was slightly problematic with the festival but usually isn’t too bad.

It was a fortunate experience to visit on a weekday. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, presenting a stunning display of seasonal beauty. With fewer visitors, the surroundings remained peaceful and serene, allowing for an uninterrupted appreciation of the natural scenery. This timing provided an ideal opportunity to capture and enjoy the essence of the garden at its finest.

Visited this place late afternoon on the last weekend (which also happened to be a long weekend) of the Carnival of Flowers, so was very crowded with visitors, picnicers and kids but was still a beautiful place. Not as peaceful and tranquil as it can be at others times i have visited. Wistetia and lillies were in bloom but it looked like the cherry bloosoms may have just finished when we visited in early October. Don't miss a stroll through our own native flora at the Gumbi Gumbi Gardens just around the corner.

Peaceful and relaxing place to walk, sit, talk or meditate, even picnic. There are a few tables near the lake and a covered Pavilion overlooking the lake and gardens. Recommend a visit. Beautifully maintained gardens. Plenty of parking at either entrance. Can be busy in conjunction with festivals, but mostly a great to place to stroll, and enjoy the natural, green 'architecture'. No entry fees. Most walks are flat or modest gradient, some paths have steps, none steep. Toilets at the western boundary.

Wonderful garden, we also visited Queens Park gardens. Between Queens Park and the Japanese Garden it makes the 2 hour drive from Brisbane worth it. Will definitely visit again the future. We actually found this garden to be prettier than some of the gardens we visited IN Japan 😁 both Tokyo and Osaka.

Have been wanting to visit for years and finally got the chance! Absolutely fantastic - and way busier than I expected. So many places to sit and take in the gardens and lovely walking paths.

Great displays of different machinery and trucks. It's not very big, about a 15 minute walk around. No aircon in the room, just big industrial fans that blow hot air. It's not worth the $8 for admission if you don't live in the area, a Gold coin donation would be more suited.

Lunch was lovely at the Cafe. Nice to walk around the park.

Took grandaughter to library for storytime. Bathrooms are very clean and accessible. I liked the cafe there better when it was run by the council.

Cool, friendly, and informative :) Lots of parking even a special area for caravans and motorhomes. They have an information centre as you first walk in with pamphlets of every major and minor area of Queensland. There are a few display cases of locally made or produced crafts and food products. I purchased some local honey which Im excited to try out! There’s a library connected to the main lobby plus a cafe and the museum to the other side. Definitely recommend stopping in if you’re traveling through the area or if you just want to know more about the Lockyer Valley :)

What a great place to grab your travel ideas. In Gatton, right next to Lake Apex. You’ll find maps, local experiences, gifts and local produce. Friendly knowledgeable staff available to point you in the right direction. Cafe on-site. Transport Museum and Art Gallery also within the building.

Delicious jam, chutney, honey, award winning spice mix and small goods sold in the mini glass display cabinet. I buy some every time I visit.

We had a great time with Sue on our trial ride. The horses were beautiful! Sue was so accommodating to the beginner riders in our group and had exceptional communication over a number of months (due to weather causing us to postpone a few times). Thank you kindly Katie and Sue, we appreciate your patience and hospitality!

Fordsdale is a fantastic place to go trail riding. They have beautiful scenery and horses, and provide amazing customer service. Their horses are extremely well looked after. Sue was kind and helpful. You do not have to be an experienced rider, they go through everything you need to know. I highly recommend Fordsdale.

I have been to every trail riding place within day trip distance of Brisbane/Gold Coast and Fordsdale is by far the best!!! I have come back many times because Sue is always such an attentive and kind host, making sure I'm comfortable and having a good time. Very welcoming to children and the kids love Tip the pup, Zeus the pony and the baby goats. Even got to bottle feed baby goats and see a newborn foal! The views are amazing and it's just magical hanging around the horses running free in such a beautiful, wild place. The horses are happy, healthy and bright-eyed. There are forward going horses and beginner horses, and once Sue got to know my riding level she let me go super fast! :) I've never had such freedom and thrill at any other riding place in Australia. 100% would recommend!

My 3 year old nephew is obsessed with horses and I wanted to take him for a pony ride (on a lead rope) and Fordsdale was the closest place to us. Sue was lovely and patient, even when my nephew got quite scared. (my fault, Sue did mention to me that she had horses and not small ponies, but I though it would still be ok). With some support from his big brother, my little nephew got his courage up and in the end he absolutely loved it. He is now even more obsessed with horses and will no doubt be nagging us to come back. Thanks very much Sue and also to Simone, your beautiful anglo arab mare. She was wonderful.

Our family loved our weekend here. We felt really looked after by Sue, who went over and above in her hospitality, including making sure we were super comfortable in our tents and well fed. We were off grid but did not feel lacking in any way- we are so glad we chose here to unplug. The horses were incredibly calm, well looked after and peaceful, and we also loved the goats. What a lovely time for us and especially the kids ❤️

I stayed for a 2 day horse riding package at Sue's - and had the most amazing time. Sue was a wonderful host (alongside her support team including Pete and Tip the dog!) with great communication before I arrived. I stayed in winter. The weather was beautiful (if a little chilly at night), the tents are very cosy though with everything you need, a roaring camp fire, fabulous food cooked by Sue (no idea how she rustled up such amazing meals so effortlessly) - all set in the most glorious scenery. This is very much 'off the beaten track' and off-grid, but that only added to the experience. I can ride and was looking for a riding holiday that wasn't simply a 'caravan' trail with horses who had lost all spirit... Sue's horses are top-notch. They are all extremely well cared-for, the fittest horses I have ridden in a long time and with a variety of characters. As Sue knows each horse so intimately she chose the perfect horses to ride for my ability, and I was able to experience several rides across a variety of terrain in the surrounding area. Sue is great company and very knowledgable about the area, wildlife - and of course the horses. All-in-all I would have no hesitation in recommending this riding holiday to anyone wanting to properly experience rural Australia on horseback. I'd love to go back one day.

What an amazing experience. Did an overnight package with my 9 year old. Sue is a great and engaging host and we were very well looked after. Amazing horses and goats etc. Highly recommended if you’re after a proper ‘country’ experience.

Awesome pay to play place! Have done shuttles in the past but a couple of times have emtb all day 50plus kms and heaps of fun. Newish trails are awesome firebreak and the one near the trail office doing laps of that is awesome jump transfers super good! Get out there!!!

Love HVAP. It was such an epic day spent on the bikes. We got shuttles for the day and can not recommend it highly enough. Trails are awesome fun and the staff are lovely and friendly. Definitely one of my favourite spots to ride

I have been riding and racing on these trails for 17 or so years. About 5 months ago I was here and wrote a very fair ⭐️⭐️ review. Today is an easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Firstly, I was greeted with a smile and sincere hello! Great start. The ‘new’ park manager was helpful, professional and a rider himself. It showed he knows what riders want. It is clear the manager is proud of his trails. 5 months ago, they were debris ridden, unkempt derailleur busting and sorry looking. TODAY I was impressed. Lots of work and commitment to get the trails there and just as much to maintain them. Made the easy decision to get a year family pass. Keep up the awesome work HVAP manager-downhill-riding-mechanic….

Awesome mountain biking destination, with optional shuttles and fantastic trails. Joe was our shuttle driver, guide, and photographer who let us know what to expect on each trail he took us to, and took a few expert shots to remember the day. A great range of trails that are accessible to novice to intermediate riders, with plen̈ty of optional features to test the best riders. Overall, it was a fantastic day. Thankyou Joe for making it even better.

Booked the 3 hour shuttle yesterday. Had a great day out - bike trails well groomed - well organised shuttle. The ATV was a high light in itself! Friendly helpful staff - we will be back!

Amazing place to get out for a pedal, so many trails to choose from and new ones coming all the time. I can't stop coming back to this place. Plenty of flow trails and some epic views, must do trails are 500 above, Skyfall and "the new trail". There are shuttles too if you wanna focus on the downs, but there are also plenty of amazing climb trails.

What an awesome place. Took my 11 year old son here and hired e-bikes on the mountain bike trails. One of the best days exploring the trails through this beautiful area. People running the place were so excellent, helpful and friendly. Trails were well maintained and challenging.

Unforgettable Experience at Darling Downs Zoo! We had the best day at Darling Downs Zoo! The whole experience was well beyond our expectations — clean grounds, friendly staff, and a wide range of animals you don’t often get to see in a regional zoo. The absolute highlights for us were the lemurs and the giraffes. The lemurs were so lively and fun to watch — full of energy and personality! And the giraffes were simply majestic. Being able to see them up close was a real treat, especially for the kids. It’s clear the animals are well cared for and comfortable in their environments. The zoo layout is easy to follow, with lots of shady spots and areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings. It's perfect for families or anyone who loves animals. You can tell a lot of heart goes into running this place. We’ll definitely be coming back — it’s a hidden gem in the Darling Downs region!

We had a lovely time at the Darling Downs Zoo! It was a fun way to spend the morning/afternoon, even though many of the animals were having a nap when we visited. Still, it was a great experience overall. Pricing was reasonable. No issues with parking. A small suggestion, adding a little coffee spot near the giraffes would be amazing! It’d give visitors a chance to enjoy the epic views (and a caffeine fix) while supporting the zoo even more.

Darling Downs Zoo is such a great place to spend the day! The enclosures are well-kept, the animals look healthy and cared for, and there’s a wide variety to see—from lions and monkeys to reptiles and birds. The layout makes it easy to walk around, and there are lots of shady spots to stop and rest. The staff are friendly and happy to answer questions, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that a few areas could use a little updating, as well as needing maybe extra kiosks or food and drink venders. But overall it’s a wonderful zoo and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the region. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals!

Highly recommend visiting this beautiful zoo, the animals are well looked after and with areas maintained, the grounds are reasonably looked after but if that's at the expense of looking after the animals I welcome it. Absolutely worth the money knowing it goes right back into animal welfare. We spent 5 hours wandering around having a break for lunch and going back to see what we missed the first time. Presenters were great at explaining details about the animals too.

My boys and I had an amazing day. Although a big drive from the Gold Coast, in the end it was worth it. Such a peaceful zoo, fantastic views, surrounded by nature. Couldn’t believe the amount of animals there to see. Boys finally got to see lions, we also saw some other animals we had never seen before like the addax and the capybara. Spent the whole day there. Grabbed an ice cream to cool off. We will definitely recommend to other families, and will be back to see the lion cubs all grown up. Thank you Darling Down Zoo! 😊

Dropped in late in the day on a Thursday with only around 90min before close. This was definitely not enough time to see the whole park when one of your group is disabled, but we definitely had a great time regardless Staff were lovely, answering questions, volunteering information, and even showing us 2 day old puggles! The enclosures are nice and large and all of the animals looked very healthy and well cared for. We'll definitely be back for a longer visit.

It really is a hell of a drive both distance and mountain range wise. Not really their fault however, more could definitely be done by the staff to make it actually worth the drive. So many rare animals you don't see at other zoos around Qld especially the large cats however, all you get to see is them sleeping and laying around. There were no shows or interactions at all. Staff should let you interact with some of the smaller or harmless animals such as the capybaras or giraffes etc. My son was so excited to see the capybaras but they were so far away inside a large locked paddock and we could barely see anything when they were laying in the shade. Overall it was a fair price and worth checking out if your in the area but NOT really worth the drive if it's 1.5 hours away or more. Its also great that it's not over commercialised, its much more relaxed and quiet compared to say Australia Zoo at Beerwah but again it is in the middle of nowhere...

The Glengallen Homestaed, what a beautiful piece of architecture and history. You can see the beauty of what the Home used to be…. It would be great to see the original home restored to its former glory. But still a great place to visit. There is a cafe onsite to get a quick bite and drink. So glad We made the decision to visit 😀

We recently visited Glengallan Homestead and were truly impressed by the historical beauty of the property. The homestead itself is absolutely stunning—a fascinating glimpse into the past, lovingly preserved with so much character. Walking through the rooms and learning about the history of the building and the families who lived there was the highlight of our visit. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into maintaining and sharing this unique piece of local heritage. Unfortunately, the café was a letdown. The staff seemed quite disorganised and unsure about basic service and menu details, which made the experience less enjoyable. It felt like there was a lack of training or clear systems in place. That said, if you’re interested in Queensland’s history and architecture, Glengallan Homestead is still absolutely worth a visit. Just don’t set your expectations too high for the café, or consider bringing your own refreshments instead. Overall, a wonderful spot to step back in time and appreciate a remarkable part of our region’s story.

This is my first time posting anything but I visited the Glengallan Homestead and Cafe on Sunday and it was AMAZING! The food was delicious and came out fast but honestly we wouldn't of been fussed to wait because we could of sat there for hours just enjoying the view. The Homestead itself is really interesting. If you are interested is heritage buildings don't miss this one! It's setup like a museum, its very easy to find your way arround and you can do it at your own pace. The staff were also super friendly and took their time to answers all our questions, make us feel welcome despite being busy and even tell us a few stories about the place. Highly recommend visiting.

Really great historic place both the homestead and the items on the surrounding properties. We got a nice introduction by the manager and then spent a couple of hours exploring and reading. The homestead is an iconic sandstone mansion, originally built in 1867, was restored from ruin in 2001. It offers a self guided tour and the cafe is welcoming. What I really liked was the acknowledgment of Country and the Traditional Custodians and the story of the Brown Snake Dreaming.

We called in on a Sunday afternoon. Had coffee and scones before looking through the homestead. Great Merlo coffee and the scones were very good. We then wondered over to the homestead. The house is huge, which I found fascinating. There's been a huge amount of restoration completed. However, there are sections that remain to be done. But it's gives you an opportunity to see how the house was built. At 15 dollars each entry, I think it's pretty good value.

Very helpful ladies and obviously part of their community with heaps of Handmade knitted and other goodies to buy at very reasonable prices. We were even invited to go up to the verandah for a good photo of the main street:)

We are looking for a list of events/things to do in the area to share with our guests. When we go the the 'What's on' link, enter the month and .... nothing, it slips back to the --select-- option. We then call the number on the Website and it rings out with a computerised voice saying 'server error'. We want to promote our local area but that's difficult to do when we cannot access the information. Toowoomba Region, on the other hand, sends us a weekly update with what's on in the region - Markets, exhibitions, events etc. Please improve.

Amazing experience despite the fact that steam train broke down and we were pulled by old diesel, still awesome and a lot of fun! It was 2 hours round ride from Warwick during Jumpers and Jazz in July festival in Warwick. Tickets were from $30, absolutely worth it!

It was fun to travel on a vintage steam train from Warwick to Goondiwindi. The staff were great, and provided a running commentary. We stopped at Inglewood station, where the Lions Club provided a delicious lunch.

Bought tickets in June for 2x steam train rides, arrived and both days we had the diesel. Turns out they knew for a year that the steam loco was unavailable but the web site still said "steam, and after every effort diesel". It should have said "It's the diesel because our steam loco has been busted for ages". Staff were polite but confused - our afternoon ticket said "Sausage sizzle after the trip" and I confirmed this with a lady behind the counter. We returned from the trip - everything packed away, so sorry better luck next time. Not entirely happy with the experience, we won't be back.

We rode the train from Warwick to Clifton and back for lunch. Unfortunately no steam train due to fire hazard issues but great fun anyway. Recommend a trip to anyone.

Called in for lunch. Allan and staff were very busy but the wait time for both service and meal was minimal. Great hamburger and the hand brake had pumpkin soup which she enjoyed. Staff are so helpful and go out if their way to make sure all are catered for. Well done.

A beautiful country place to relax in a caravan. Good size sites for caravan. Cafe is great. It is so lovely to be surrounded by nature and listen to the birds. The birds are great to feed in the front of the cafe. Certainly recommend it.

Stopped into the cafe after going to the waterfall and had such a delicious meal! We were extremely impressed with the sizes of the breakfast burger and the sweet potato fries were delicious.

Me and my son had our first ever Camping trip here. I don't know if we were lucky to choose this as our first experience or if every other paid venue is just as nice but we are totally hooked into Camping now. For the entire stay, my son didnt need his iPad or TV or anything of that sort. He was totally captivated by the amazing views. Lots of beautiful birds around, a big cattle farm just next to the camp sites (can see them early morning), Queen Mary Falls just 15 mins walk away (with a 4yr old) and the clean and calm embrace of nature are an absolute treat. This will undoubtedly be a Father-Son weekend get-a-away for me and my son for years to come. If you are a new camper or just testing the waters... This is where you start!

Loved the falls and the bird feeding, but the guy taking orders at the cafe made me feel like I was such hard work because I asked for a hot dog my kids were going to share to be cut in half and no onions and mustard. Look, I get that hospo is a tough gig and you get some high maintenance customers but that’s a pretty low level request that keep the kids happy.

I lost my iPhone on the roadside near the park while participating in the 350km Red Bull Race the Sun run. Apple Find My Phone showed it sitting in a ditch 1.5km from Queen Mary Falls Caravan Park & Cafe. I rang the caravan park in a panic and Allan picked up. Without fuss he jumped in his ute, drove down the highway, walked the verge and called back 20 minutes later with my phone in hand – then offered to post it to Sydney because I’d already left town. No drama, just genuine help. If Allan puts this much effort into rescuing a stranger’s phone, you can trust he’ll look after paying guests. Thanks again Allan – you saved my photos, data and a week’s worth of hassle.
