Drive to the end of the road and walk. You can enjoy the viaduct. Historic place. But nothing else to do around there. Don’t make the mistake of taking your car down. You can get it up, but not recommended. It’s a 30sec walk anyway!

Drive to the end of the road and park and walk down to the bridge . It's an incredible sight. So massive, photos don't really do this bridge justice. Well worth a look
Britt P — Google review
WOW! Well worth the short detour to visit and roam around the botanical gardens
Cool G — Google review
Amazing to see the Viaduct up close – a little bit of old-world European engineering close to Melbourne. The stones are surprisingly large, so is the whole structure. Kids loved climbing all the way down to the water. There was a train that went along the top, we could hear it but not see it from the bottom.

Beautiful fresh produce, staff lovely friendly and helpful. Purchased olive tree and pomegranate tree. Excellent selection of honey and local farmers produce. Small "nick nack" section picked up a box set of classic songs of times gone by straight into the cd player and driving through the lush green countryside. Ah can you get better than that? Best way to escape the city. We Visit often and it always continues to provide the same excellent standards. Thank you will be back again soon. Sorry unsure why pictures have doubled up.

A wonderful place to shop for fruit, veggies, plants, fresh produce and specially local farm eggs which were of good quality with hard shell and bright color yolk which is proof of good quality. I will definitely come to this place for my shopping from melton. The staff was very helpful.

Lovely staff and prompt service.

I always stop in off freeway on way past for the best new seasons apples, wax free and fresh off the tree. Other local produce good and flagons of apple cider vinegar are a winner! Always friendly staff.
Katy M — Google review
What a horrible place, recommeded to my friends to stop here for a coffee which was beautifully brewed and wanted to purchase some local fresh unique produce. No prices on anything and plenty of 'no stealing signs' which is always welcoming to the majority of decent people. Accidentally knocked over an item at the overly stocked counter and 3 staff came from no where glaring at us as if we were criminals, didnt serve us and when asked to be served the older woman said "you will have to pay for that broken item" it wasnt our fault your counter has no where to place our items to purchase and it was glass! No concern if we were ok, just allowed customers to walk over it. The lady proceeded to argue with us rudely pointing her finger and saying she did not want customers like us in her store. Shocked people like this still exist, will never visit again!
Oli G — Google review
Came to get a little piece of honeycomb to find its sold in $30 chucks and when I asked if it's possible to get it in a smaller amount as it just for the kids to try and the $30 piece is too much and be a waste. Plus I can buy it at woolworths and online for $10 And the girl says "no that's the way it is" Here I am thinking smaller towns have more accommodating people. Guess not. Least the scenery was nice on the drive up and back. 👍
Mark B — Google review
We are local and only buy all our fruit and Veg at Jonesy’s. love it and love the staff. If your from out of town this is the place to stop if you want to take home some Great local produce

I recently visited Naturipe Fruits at Bacchus Marsh Cherry Farm, and it was a delightful experience. This charming farm offers an immersive fruit picking adventure that is perfect for families, or anyone looking to enjoy a day in nature. Upon arrival, the farm's friendly staff welcomed us warmly and provided us with everything we needed for a successful peaches and nectarines picking journey. The instructions were clear, and they provided us with bags to collect our fruits. The orchards are beautifully maintained. Walking through the rows of trees, we enjoyed the serene atmosphere and the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. In addition the, the farm has a lovely farm shop offering a variety of local produce and products. We couldn’t resist picking up honey to take home. The entry was free and price was $4 per kg. Overall, Naturipe Fruits at Bacchus Marsh Cherry Farm offers a delightful day out. The combination of fresh fruits, picturesque surroundings, and friendly service makes this farm a standout destination. I highly recommend a visit.
Ishwori C — Google review
Experience fresh fruit picking and eating on the spot. Sour or Sweet, you taste it yourself before putting into your box. There are ladders provided for those that wanted to get the best fruits from the top. Variety of cherries to pick but no strawberry on this cherry farm during my visit on 23 Dec 2024, but you just need to drive down to the nearest farm (Left from this exit) and you will be able to park at the Naturipe Strawberry farm, where you just need to make an entry fee and comes with a box of strawberries.
Ng P — Google review
We visited on 19 April 2025, day after Good Friday. Fuji apples and granny smith apples were available for picking from 9am-1pm but the farm may close earlier if there are too many visitors. No entry fee, but you are charged $4/kg you bring out of the farm. There were plenty of trees with abundant granny smith apples, but it seems like most of the good fuji apples had already been picked. The good ones that were left were hidden away or slightly out of reach, but the farm provides stepladders which you can climb up to get to the apples that were higher up. We were still able to pick quite a few fuji apples. Though they were smaller and not as uniformly red as ideal, we tasted them back home and they were fresh, crunchy, and still sweet. They also sell yellow gum and red gum honey, some homemade jams, and strawberries too.
Koi — Google review
This is a late review, but I was here almost two years ago with by family who came from overseas to travel Australia. They really enjoyed visiting this place and we were able to pick strawberries, nectarines and cherries. The produce was fresh and the prices were very cheap compared to other fruit picking places near by. I thought I’d return and leave a review as my family still remembers how fun and interesting it was😊
Anuki F — Google review
Went cherry picking here today on our way back from Daylesford. Free entry and was $15kg for freshly picked cherries. The trees are full at the back with cherries but at the front they were dried up. But the rest were ready to be picked and had the sour ones too.
Sue — Google review
Very good place to visit during the cherry picking season, good place for family. Make sure get some water bottles from entrance or keep some alongside as you might have to walk through the farm quite some distance, there’s Sweet, Sour and white cherries at same time but get ready to put some steps down. Also they have apple and strawberries pickings but during some other season. You can get a container at the entrance to gather fruits and pay during exit. There portable toilets next to the entrance area. Good place overall, I recommend
Mishad M — Google review
Happy with the trip to Naturipe Fruits for apple 🍎 picking. The apples were fresh, crunchy, juicy, wax-free, a bit sweet & sour, though we went there in late April, the end of apple season. No entry fee was required, just need to pay for the apples you picked at $4 per kg. That's a really reasonable price. It's worth a visit. Just one hour drive from the Melbourne city, recommended this farm.
MMC C — Google review
I keep going here quiet often, specially when the weather is beeautifull. Lots of fruits and varieties as per the season. If you were to use the toilets, there are 3 portable toilets but not clean at all. So be prepared before you go.

Visited the Carousel Geelong on the waterfront for the first time and it was an absolute delight! Nestled along the picturesque waterfront, this carousel is a hidden gem that offers endless fun for families, kids, and anyone who appreciates the beauty of these timeless attractions. The carousel features beautifully crafted horses that add a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the waterfront scenery. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem, and it quickly became a favorite spot for me and my family. Whether you're taking a spin on the carousel or simply admiring its charm from afar, the Carousel Geelong is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the waterfront area. Highly recommend stopping by and experiencing the magic of the Carousel Geelong for yourself. I’m planning to bring my nieces and nephew to appreciate this, reminds me of the one at z Melbourne Zoo. A Magical Trip Back in Time for Young and Old Alike In the heart of Geelong's waterfront, The Carousel is a gem that will transport you back in time to an era of whimsy and wonder. This beautifully restored 1892 carousel is a must-visit attraction for families, history buffs, and anyone looking to recapture a sense of childlike magic. As you step onto the carousel platform, you're immediately immersed in a world of vibrant colours and intricate details. The carousel itself is a work of art, featuring 36 hand-carved horses, as well as other animals like giraffes, zebras, and even a dragon. Each horse is uniquely decorated with ornate saddles, flowing manes, and glass jewels that catch the light as they gently sway to the tune of the carousel's old-fashioned organ music. The ride itself is a nostalgic experience that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. As the carousel begins to turn, you'll feel like a kid again, clinging tight to your chosen steed as you rise and fall in a mesmerising dance. The gentle motion and the lively music create a sense of carefree joy that's hard to resist. But The Carousel is more than just a fun ride - it's also a fascinating piece of history. The carousel was originally built in 1892 by Charles I.D. Looff, a renowned carousel maker, and has been meticulously restored to its former glory. As you gaze at the intricate carvings and the ornate mirrors that surround the ride, you can't help but feel a sense of awe at the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into creating this masterpiece. In addition to the carousel itself, the surrounding pavilion is filled with charming touches that add to the overall ambiance. Vintage carousel horses and other memorabilia line the walls, while comfortable seating areas invite you to linger and take in the sights and sounds. There's even a small gift shop where you can pick up souvenirs to remember your visit. Whether you're a parent looking for a fun and educational outing for your kids, a history enthusiast eager to see a piece of the past brought to life, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of a bygone era, with its stunning restoration, nostalgic charm, and sense of wonder, this magical attraction is sure to delight visitors of all ages.
Michael C — Google review
The Carousel on Geelong’s waterfront adds a touch of nostalgia to the modern promenade. Housed in a glass pavilion that glitters after dark, the century-old horses circle to a cheerful barrel-organ soundtrack while the bay shimmers outside every window. It feels almost cinematic stepping aboard, with polished brass poles, hand-painted scenes on the rounding boards and gentle sea breezes drifting through the open doors in summer. Families cluster at the railing to wave each time riders glide past, though plenty of adults queue up for a turn as well. Staff are welcoming and patient, happy to let younger children choose a slower chariot if the leaping horses look too ambitious. A mobility lift means wheelchair users can join the ride, and the smooth timber deck around the carousel leaves room for prams to park without tripping anyone up. Even if you are just passing by, the pavilion is worth a pause. The historic steam engine sits on display behind glass, interpretive panels outline the restoration story, and a small kiosk sells coffee, ice cream and souvenirs shaped like tiny horses. On cooler evenings it is easy to linger with a hot drink, watching the reflections of the lights ripple across Corio Bay.

First time visiting the foreshore of Geelong and were pleasantly surprised at how lovely a city it is nestled on the shoreline. Great restaurants and the barge fish and chips restaurant would have to be one of the best fish and chip meals I have ever had and so reasonable for a very large portion. We have decided to holiday here next year. Very impressed !

The Carousel inside the Geelong Visitor Centre is a charming piece of history, with over 100 years of stories to tell. I'm always captivated by its exquisite design and historical charm. Inside the visitor center, you can find displays about the carousel's history and the restoration process. You can enjoy a ride on this beautiful carousel for just $5! It's a delightful experience that combines a touch of nostalgia with the chance to learn about its rich history. The Carousel is a must-visit for anyone passing through Geelong, and it adds a touch of magic to your visit.

Hanging Rock is a sacred prehistoric volcanic formation located near the small town of Newham, just a short drive from Woodend. It holds cultural significance for the local indigenous peoples and gained worldwide fame through Joan Lindsay's book 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' and its film adaptation. The windy walk to the summit offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Macedon Ranges.
We had a really lovely day at Hanging Rock today. The climb was spectacular and the views were beautiful. Loved learning the history too. Recommend wearing good hiking shoes/ runners and bringing a water bottle with you.
Addie — Google review
This is undoubtedly a place steeped in mystique, definitely worth a visit. It reveals a story that took place in 1900, when a group of children from a boarding school were visiting this mountain. Four girls decided to explore the rock on their own. One of them got scared and returned to the other children. Three girls continued on their way, soon joined by their maths teacher. Eventually, they went missing. One girl was found shortly after, but she couldn't explain what had happened. After the investigation begins, a series of tragic incidents and suicides occur! It’s chilling! Visiting the mountain can be challenging for people with disabilities. However, they can still feel the full power of this place, the power of this rock, from below! Before the climb to the rock, there is a museum dedicated to this story. This place truly evokes a certain sense of fear, especially if you learn about the history before starting the ascent.

Magical! We were lucky to do it when it was a low traffic day. I got no other tourists in my photos. We didn't get held up by slow walkers it was a beautiful 20° day clear sky sun out. Magical. I suggest taking a small picnic lunch up and having it at the top. Beautiful! Oh and make sure you at least go on the stairs track. That's where the magic is!

Great place for a short family hike. Takes 20 min to reach the top. Good facilities for a picnic with BBQ. Cost 15$ for car access.

Nice place to visit with family if you would like to have a short walk with nice landscape view. However, car entry ticket price is $15 which seems to be bit overprice compared to what park has to offer. Its one time go place though...

🌳 Fantastic Family Park & Coastal Pool Opening Soon! Visited this lovely park in Geelong today during our holiday, and it was a great time despite the chill. The well‑equipped play area kept the kids entertained, with plenty of open grass, picnic and BBQ facilities, and clean amenities. The views of Corio Bay were simply stunning—perfect backdrop for family photos and sandy play. We were delighted to learn that the children’s sea pool at Eastern Beach—just by the park—is set to reopen from 1 November through to April. The shallow wading area, with its diving tower, springboards and fountains, is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer season . That gives us another seaside treat later this year! Highlights: Great for kids: Playground zones + space for running games Amenities: BBQs, picnic tables, toilets, showers Scenic spot: Art-deco boardwalk, sea baths, diving platforms Seasonal bonus: Children’s pool opens 1 Nov–21 Apr, with lifeguards on duty Despite a crisp spring breeze, our crew had a blast. Can’t wait to visit again in November when the sea pool reopens—another fun swim to add to our Geelong holiday plans!

This is beautiful part of the world & Eastern Beach Reserve is an airy space to enjoy a full view across the bay. This is a great place to walk, run & play. Includes a children's playground and is ideal for all outside activities. I certainly found our visit here very relaxing & great place for quiet reflection.

Probably one of my favourite places in Geelong ,we were over from our house in Bali and I was able to show my 13 year old son where I Bude to train in the open water pool, It is right beside the yatch club so it makes it interesting

Good place to relax if the crowd is less. Beware of seagulls, do not feed them. Keep your eatables covered else the swoop down and snatch it away.

The Friends of Geelong Botanic Gardens is a serene and picturesque destination for nature enthusiasts, offering a diverse range of flora arranged according to different climatic zones. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks or jogs through the leafy gardens while observing various local bird species and butterflies attracted to the area. The garden also features a temperature-controlled room for tropical plants, adding to its unique charm.
Beautiful botans in Geelong! Free entry and many spaces to enjoy the sun and natural environs w your family or friends. Clean public toilets and a lovely little cafe as well.

Other than a very relaxing, beautiful and well maintain garden. Quute a few very big trees too. Great place for family walk and then enjoy a great meal and coffee at friendly cafe

Beautiful, well kept botanical gardens with lots of small paths and areas to sneak off to and see the beautiful birds and butterflies that are attracted to the area. I would advise picking up the map so you can check out the special plants that are there - I can't remember exactly, but there's a good number of heritage listed trees that are worth seeing just because you may find it hard to see them elsewhere! A giant redwood (Sequoia) is one of the areas, which is definitely worth seeing as well as a plant that looks like it's being chained to the ground - I don't remember what it's called but it looks impressive and I've definitely never seen one before! A bonus is that entrance is free and there is a small outdoor cafe that I assume is open seasonally (?) - sadly it wasn't open when I was visiting. It also wasn't crowded when I visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. With its location so close to the waterfront, it's worth visiting if you're in the area to take a break or just to see the butterflies!

First visit to this botanical garden. It is a compact but full of variety of flora in this garden. Most of plants, flowers and shrubs cam be found here. However, as i m not a botanist, i may be wrong. Surely, it is dilligently arranged based by climatic zone. It also has temperature controlled room for tropical one. Tho, it has less green area to sit down and picnic inside the garden but outside, it has plenty room. 2 car parks on the side of enterance door. Surely it is recommended for anyone including for relaxation and learning even just jogging.

Visited the new conservatory today. Absolutely breathtaking. So much work has obviously gone into it! So many plants you don't get to see very often in Victoria.

Experience the charm of the Gisborne Olde Time Market, a delightful showcase of local creativity and produce. Held on the first Sunday of every month, this market offers an array of goods including local crafts, plants, wood carvings, home decor, and delicious food options like giant spring rolls and macaroons. It's a perfect opportunity to explore the beauty, history, and culture of the Macedon Ranges while enjoying a day filled with shopping and tasty treats.
One of our favourite Sunday markets. Always buzzing with people, great selection of stall holders, a great way to start the morning, especially on a cold day with a warm coffee, egg and bacon roll, and some baked sweets.
Gym G — Google review
The market wasn’t as big as I expected—managed to see all the stalls in about 15 minutes. One thing I found unusual was the signage saying no dogs allowed, yet there were dogs everywhere. Bit confusing, but overall a quick browse if you’re in the area.
Bella B — Google review
The market is a great place to find a variety of delicious foods. In particular, the curry puffs and pork crackle from one of the market stalls are highly recommended. I encourage you to visit the market and try these delectable treats for yourself.

One of six weekend farmers markets in Macedon Ranges. Gisborne Market is opened on 1st Sunday monthly. Local produce, crafts, plants, exotic wood carving, home & garden decors, some food & cafe vans including pancake on site. We noticed a knife sharpener service van too. A nice weather day certainly makes everything a lot better. Families, friends enjoy looking, shopping, laughing...❤
Phuong L — Google review
I have been going to this market for a very long time. The best chicken curry puffs (highly recommended), best bacon n egg roll (close to toilet/footy field entrance), and I buy my eggs from Phil's Conifers. The market has become more expensive over the years; and pay attention to where you park. Always lovely to visit Gisborne and see the beautiful birds, pine cone and chestnut trees.

We enjoyed the stall and variety of items. Baths available and plenty of places to stop and enjoy a drink or a snack. Worth stopping by again!

The winery is known for its pet-friendly environment, even featuring a Pet of the Week on their social media.
We had a lovely lunch at Gisborne Peak. The menu was minimal, but the shared platter was yummy, and woodfire pizza was delicious as well. Friendly staff and great customer service. Indoor and outdoor seating available overlooking the lake. A variety of wines to purchase and have with your meals. Wine tasting at the cellar door available to purchase . Accommodation also available on site.

Gisborne Peak (Winery) Is not a Winery no Wine is produced on the premises The grapes are sent to Hanging Rock Winery and the wine is bottled there. This so called Winery is in a residential area and infringes on the people that live in the area It has been closed for nearly a year. With renovations and building done without council approval. It is an eye sore with the nets from last season's crop laying on the ground between the vines. The place should be closed permanently.

Hi Team Tony & myself would be more than happy to write a review about how thrilled we were with our 38th wedding anniversary vacation at your facility. The cleanliness of our accommodation was impeccable & with all the comforts one would need for an enjoyable holiday. The peacefulness of our surroundings made our stay very relaxing & enjoyable away from the usual hustle & bustle of our everyday lives. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal in your restaurant & the service from your hospitality staff, in particular a lady called Lynn was first class. Lynn was extremely friendly & took the time needed to explain both our menu options & how we could redeem our Red Balloon voucher for our meal & various items in your gift shop. Tony & myself do travel quite extensively & would not hesitate to recommend your facility to our friends & family & the wider community via the below mentioned platforms. Although this was our first time staying at your facility it will most certainly not be our last. Congratulations on managing such a wonderful facility that deserves all of the accolades & awards received to date & beyond.

We had the pleasure of staying at Gisborne Peak Winery and were greeted by very lovely smiles and service given by Linny and Lynn in the restaurant. They went above and beyond to let us know of local experiences, things to do and places to visit. The food was also very delicious and well priced. We were soon given our keys to the accommodation, which was set up very average at most. There were a few things that need revamping and work, but we did enjoy our short and sweet stay and didn’t let us bother us too much. We would definitely be back for the restaurant!

We went for Sunday lunch and reserved a table over the web. The cafe is situated in lovely area and quaintly decorated. We Ordered the large grazing platter and a wood fried pizza to share. The food was delicious, the Turkish bread and the pizza were really yummy. Food price was on the high side though. The pizza was small but priced at $22. The coffee was good. The staff were friendly and served with a smile. Onsite unisex toilets. Plenty of parking. No split bills. There are cottages to rent on site as well.

Randomly chose this place with my husband on a day trip to Gisborne with 2 family members from England and New Zealand. We chose the large sharing platter and a bottle of wine recommended by our hostess Lynn. The food and wine did not disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and inviting even though cold outside. The service from Lynn was exceptional. We plan to visit again with more family to enjoy. Thank you Lynn for your service with a smile.

I took a group of friends to Edgar’s for my birthday and I was so glad I did! The team were so warm, friendly and informative. The chance to interact with these beautiful animals was so special and learning about their life history, the legacy of Edgar’s Mission and the best ways to support these animals was brilliant. The tour guides are so informed and you can tell how much they love these animals! Inspired me to come back to volunteer sometime!

Cannot recommend a visit to Edgar’s Mission highly enough! Enjoyable, informative tour by fabulous staff, with the opportunity to meet the gorgeous animals including Chris the pig, Hamish & Andy the donkeys and Tim Tam the goat! Thank you to all the kind people involved with running such a fantastic sanctuary! There’s also great hikes & wineries close by to the property & the tiny house is super lovely, so stay for longer than a day visit if you can!

First time visiting Edgar's Mission. First of all, the weather was terrible, which was a shame. It never once stopped raining the entire tour. Emma, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I wish we could have fed some more animals and were able to roam freely around the grounds ourselves. It's still a beautiful place to visit. They do great work and I will visit again!!

Loved our tour of the sanctuary with Daniel. The immensity of the love and respect Edgar’s Mission show to all animals was super moving. An amazing place doing incredibly noble work. The animals all have the most beautifully kept homes and rolling paddocks and it was so nice to get to join them and interact. Got kissed on the lips a LOT by Trapper John 🐐💋 Very inspired and hopeful to become a volunteer one day.

Highly recommend volunteering if you get the chance! I attended one of the Helping Hands days and had a great time, though it is reasonably hard work (if you're not used to farm work!). So lovely to be a part of helping their beautiful residents stay comfortable and happy.

This is one of my favourite places and I’ve loved every visit. This was my first stay in one of their Tiny Houses (we were in Edgar’s Cottage) and can genuinely say it was one of the most peaceful and soul filling weekends I’ve had in a while. The stay included a 90min tour (our tour guide was Lauren and she was fantastic), the ability to wander the farm and interact with the beautiful rescued animals was heaven. Each with their own story, worthy of telling. The houses are exactly as the name reflects and it totally works. Friends stayed next door (Timmy’s Villa) which was equally adorable. The interiors are beautifully thought out and little touches with the decors (themed to suit their namesakes) topped it off. It was awesome to be able to spend the weekend on this incredible place. Running in to Pam and Ruby was the perfect way to finish off a brilliant weekend. Thankyou! If you aren’t able to stay, make sure you at least get up there for one of their tours!

Dog owners will appreciate that dogs are welcome in the area.
Once we worked out how to get there (Google was getting to take us all different ways that we knew we couldn't go). We finally went via Werribee Park Mansion. A decent walk across the river then down a road to a track which winds back to viewing points of the cliffs on K Road. Absolutely stunning

Yes. I found the community park land and sports facilities adjacent to the Bungie's water hole on the Werribee River, which would be a great place to swim on a very hot day ... But they have No Swimming signs posted on the waters edge, so maybe there are crocodiles or piranha or sumting .... But it's a lovely spot.

Lovely river walk where dogs are welcome. No shade but easy path, nice views. Note, the road to the car park is full of large potholes and requires a lot of manoeuvring to avoid. Not unsafe but not everyone would enjoy this road.

Shahid M — Google review
The Werribee River Park track that joins from the Federation Trail is a dead end as the bridge over the river to the Mansion is closed and has been for 2 years following a flood event. Come on PV, get it fixed please. Posted October 2022 People who may be planning visits to the Werribee Regional Park should be aware of some access restrictions between now and the end of the year. Recent flooding has caused structural damage to the footbridge over the Werribee River, and the bridge is closed indefinitely. Update from Parks Victoria Best we can hope for is Spring 2025 "The proposed repair works to the structure and stream embankment are significant. Repair works need careful planning and design with many site and environmental factors being considered. Flora and fauna, and hydrological assessments have been undertaken. These have provided information required to schedule the repair works, which must occur at a certain time of year. This will minimise the impact on flora and fauna in the area surrounding the bridge and consider expected water levels in the river. An ideal timeframe has been determined and works are expected to take place in Q1 FY 25/26."

What an awesome place to both visit and also have a birthday party at! The activities are fantastic under the birthday VIP package. We rode ponies, enjoyed a tractor ride around the farm, milked a cow, visited chickens, and pat bunnies. Every kid at the party had a go at something and everyone had a wonderful time. I was worried we’d rushed for time or run late…but the head farmer assigned to our party group helped keep things moving graciously on reasonable schedule. I definitely recommend for parties. I was able to decorate the marque space and was able to set something great up using the space! The venue had everything I needed with tables, chairs and tables along with table covers, plates, drinks and party food for the kids. There was a “bar” area which I was able to use to hold drinks in a built in sink and have a grazing table spread for adults. Food servings were generous for the kids and the food was delicious! I recommend touring the site to work out your decoration needs to add your own unique spin to the party space. Thoughtful touches like an A/c blowing cool air into the marquee was lovely. The team working the day were super kind, accommodating and helpful however they can. The animals had so much open space, fed super well and looked healthy and happy. You sensed they were at peace just enjoying life 🐄

We celebrated our son’s 5th birthday at animal land and it was awesome! They decorated the whole place up with party hats and plates and even gave out lollies to all the kids in a cute glass bottle. Sarah brought us around the farm. We get to milk the cows, sat in the tractor and the kids get to pick the eggs from the chicken coop and sat in the pony. We get to bring the eggs home after that. My son had a great time and we can see how happy the kids were patting all the animals in the animal nursery part. I received feedbacks that it is the best party ever. Thank you, animal land!

Nestled just a short drive from Melbourne's bustling CBD, the Werribee Open Range Zoo is a delightful family-friendly destination that transports visitors to the heart of Africa. Spanning over 225 hectares, this unique zoo offers an incredible opportunity to observe iconic African wildlife in their naturalistic habitats. From majestic giraffes and playful zebras to powerful lions and gentle elephants, every corner of the zoo is filled with fascinating creatures.
We absolutely love visiting Werribee Open Range Zoo! There are so many amazing animals to see, and it’s always such a fun and exciting day out for the whole family. My favourite part is definitely the safari bus tour — it’s such a unique experience that takes you around the open range area to see animals up close, just like you’re on a real African safari. Meya (Not sure if i spelt her name correctly but) did a fantastic job driving us around and explaining everything so clearly. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable — kudos to her! It was also really exciting when we got stuck behind Harold the giraffe for a little while — he decided to stand right in the way and wouldn’t move! We all had a good laugh and got an even closer look at him. Moments like that make the tour so memorable. They’ve also just opened the new Elephant Trail, and it’s absolutely incredible! It’s a huge, 21-hectare, state-of-the-art space that gives the elephants so much room to roam. The design is beautiful and really well thought out — you can tell a lot of care has gone into making it a great environment for the animals We love going there, and the kids do too! It’s always a fantastic day full of adventure, learning, and fun. Highly recommend a visit! 🐘🦒🦓

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely the Best Zoo I’ve Ever Been To! Werribee Open Range Zoo is truly magical! From the friendly and welcoming staff to the spacious animal enclosures and spotless grounds, everything about this place is exceptional. The new state-of-the-art elephant enclosure is incredible — it’s even larger than all of Melbourne Zoo put together and that’s just one section of the park! We did the Giraffe Animal Experience, which turned out to be so much more than just a tour. We hopped on one of the safari buses and were taken right into the open plains, surrounded by incredible animals roaming freely — seeing the rhino family up close was an unforgettable highlight. The behind-the-scenes giraffe experience was amazing too. We got to feed the giraffes, explore their enclosure, and learn so much about them. Our guide, JESSE was absolutely fantastic! His passion for the animals, knowledge, and fun personality made the whole experience come alive. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it made our visit extra special. My husband and I were lucky it was raining so it was just us 2 on the tour . The zoo’s wide-open spaces make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Africa — it’s breathtaking how much room the animals have to roam. If you’re visiting the Melbourne area, Werribee Zoo is an absolute must-see. It was the highlight of our trip, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Paid $55 for the entrance ticket and an additional $60 for the Deluxe Safari, totally worth it! The deluxe safari gets you much closer to the animals, and the guide gives detailed explanations along the way. They stop for photos too, which is nice. We accidentally walked past the deluxe tour waiting point (it’s just next to the normal safari area along the elephant trail 😂), so just note, the normal safari cars are giraffe-painted, while the private/deluxe ones are zebra-painted. Easier to spot! Our guide, Daniel, was awesome, super knowledgeable and engaging. He even showed us animal items like fur, horns, and skeletons, which made it extra interesting. The small group size also meant he could spend more time explaining things to everyone. The only downside is the limited range of animals on the safari itself, mainly rhinos, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and camels roaming freely. You’ll also see bisons, Mongolian horses, and (I think) gazelles from a distance behind fences. Would’ve been nice to see elephants or hippos too, but it makes sense since the vehicles aren’t caged like in other safaris around the world. That said, you can still see elephants, lions, and more by walking around the zoo afterwards, so it’s not a dealbreaker. Another plus, the zoo has a baby feeding and diaper changing room, super clean and even has toys to keep toddlers occupied while you clean up. Overall, a great experience! Would definitely recommend the deluxe safari for a more personal and educational tour. 🦒🦏🦓

Loved it. Gorgeous surrounds. Fabulous sculptures and murals. Lots of activities for the kids. Beautiful native flowers. Fairywrens galore & of course the wild animals. Sad to hear Kalinda the Cheetah had passed, as had their wild dogs but the elephants are thriving in their new enclosure.

The open Zoo is awesome. I went on a school holiday so free for the kids. That was wonderful. No words to explain. We have two safari one is free with the entry ticket and the premium costs dollar fifty each. Our van went very near to the animals while the free safari was near too but goes only on road. Don’t wait to visit the zoo. I am delighted to post the naughty lions of the zoo.

Garden
Nature & Parks
The Victoria State Rose Garden is a serene and picturesque destination featuring over 5,000 roses of various species. This garden has received international acclaim and is meticulously cared for by dedicated volunteers. The layout of the garden resembles a five-petaled Tudor rose, with flourishing floribunda roses and modern hybrid tea beds. Visitors can stroll along walking paths, relax on benches, or even enjoy a picnic amidst the stunning floral displays.
🌹 A Stunning Hidden Gem in Werribee – A Must-Visit! 🌹 The Victoria State Rose Garden is an absolute paradise for nature lovers, flower enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a serene escape. Located within the Werribee Park precinct, this beautifully maintained garden is a true masterpiece showcasing thousands of vibrant roses in full bloom. Whether you're a photography enthusiast, a romantic at heart, or simply someone who enjoys a peaceful walk surrounded by breathtaking floral beauty, this place will not disappoint. What Makes This Place Special? ✅ Immaculately Maintained Gardens – The dedication of volunteers and staff is evident in every corner. The rose beds are meticulously arranged, and the variety of roses, from heritage to modern hybrid species, is simply mesmerizing. The fragrance that fills the air is something you have to experience firsthand. ✅ Stunning Layout & Design – The garden is uniquely shaped like a Tudor Rose, with beautifully arranged sections that allow visitors to admire different varieties. The walkways are well-planned, making it easy to explore every part of the garden. ✅ Perfect for All Ages – Whether you’re bringing children, elderly family members, or just visiting solo, the garden provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the scenery, making it a great spot for a picnic. ✅ Great for Photography & Events – If you love taking pictures, you’ll be in heaven! Every angle offers a perfect shot, whether it’s a close-up of a dew-kissed rose or a wide landscape of colorful blooms. It’s also an ideal setting for weddings, proposals, or even just a peaceful afternoon stroll. ✅ Free Entry! – Unlike many botanical gardens, entry is completely free, making this one of the best budget-friendly attractions in Victoria. Areas for Improvement: 🔸 Parking & Entrance Driveway – While the garden itself is absolutely stunning, the parking area and entrance could use some improvements. The driveway leading in is a bit rough, and during peak times, finding a parking spot can be challenging. Hopefully, some enhancements will be made to accommodate more visitors comfortably. Final Thoughts: This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and well-kept gardens in Victoria, and a must-visit if you're in Werribee or the surrounding areas. Whether you visit in spring for peak bloom or summer for a colorful spectacle, it’s always a joy to experience. Highly recommended! 🌹💖

Wonderful gardens. Well looked after roses which are a delight to see when in season. It is well worth the visit to come and have a wonder around here too see them when the roses are open.

The scent in the air is divine, and the atmosphere is so peaceful you can’t help but feel lighter just walking through. Had a fantastic afternoon at Scotchmans. A brilliant tasting experience from Josh to see what the winery had to offer! Followed by a delicious lunch, lead by Peta who provided exceptional service. Highly recommended Scotchmans for anyone in the region!

Best meal I’ve had in a long time from a winery, just perfection. I have been dreaming about it and look forward to come back again. We also did the wine tasting which was so informative and fun even if I didn’t have the wines (I just sat in as I was the driver for the day). Shout out to Gerald for a memorable experience in the tastings. Overall a wonderful experience - grounds were beautiful, tasting was so fun and educational, great service and the food was absolutely sensational. Highly recommend.

The lunch menu with wine pairing was pretty good, and the wine tasting came free with lunch, which was amazing. Josh, who assisted us with the tasting, was very patient and never rushed us even though it was past 4 p.m., so we could truly enjoy the wines. We ended up buying 10 bottles and will definitely be back! 🥂✨

Absolutely outstanding! I booked The Residence as a private space for my 30th birthday, and it exceeded all expectations. Ruth and the entire team were incredible—both in the lead-up and on the day itself. The venue was perfect, the food was exceptional, and the service was flawless. The setup was stunning, and every guest had an amazing time. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you Ruth!

We had the best wine tasting experience here at Scotchman’s Hill after trying various vineyards across Victoria over the years. Gerard, the gentleman who took us through the experience is knowledgeable, detailed oriented and lots of fun. We learnt so much about various varieties and how best to enjoy them. The wine tasting experience is done leisurely and he’s not calculative ;-) The varieties are great here, so hard to pick the best ones. We bought a bottle each. Great positive and uplifting vibes here, made possible by all the fun staff. We highly recommend it!! Would come back for the highly acclaimed meals when we visit again.

Came here during a weekend away and wow! We absolutely loved our wine tasting experience ( especially being far from experts). We both learnt so much and genuinely felt so cared for by the staff. We shared a Brie cheese and it was delicious before finishing of our experience purchasing 2 bottles. Highly recommended and we will be back !!

First time experiencing a wine tasting session with my partner and we absolutely loved the experience. Felipo was the lovely gentleman that served us that day. He guided us through all the different wines and gave us many interesting facts about each wine which elevated the entire experience. Definitely recommend any new wine lover to come an experience a wine tasting at Scotchmans Hill Winery.

The highlight of our holiday so far in terms of food and wine. Josh was so welcoming and helpful. Great wines to be enjoyed. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we’ve had. Great staff were so friendly and lovely to chat to. The views across the bay are stunning. The grounds are so relaxing to walk around. In 33 years of my wife and I going around different wineries we have never been asked our names. Josh not only asked but remembered. It’s been many years since we first came here but we will not make that mistake again. This time we will return soon. Highly recommended.

Basils Farm is a dog-friendly venue located in Swan Bay that offers a rotating menu featuring fresh, seasonal produce from the potager garden and local growers. The rustic farmhouse charm of the weatherboard cottage, along with the veggie patch, fire pit, market gardens, orchard, and farm animals like llamas and baby doll sheep make it an artisan winery worth visiting. Families can enjoy the outdoor space with a sandpit for kids to play in while adults dine at garden tables.
The restaurant gave us a perfect spot with the nature! My fiancé and I went to have lunch on Saturday and it was just lovely! We got there ten minutes earlier than our reservation time (same time as the opening time of the restaurant) but the host let us in just a few mins after:) The food was delicious. The service was just right. We had a tasty lunch and got to have a bit of relaxation enjoying the view the garden with butterflies and also the ocean. Kudos to the staff picking up herbs from the garden. That was a nice touch!

What a gem! Dining at this countryside estate was an absolute delight. The sprawling lawn and serene garden offered a stunning backdrop, complemented by breathtaking ocean views. Every dish was a masterpiece—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully plated. The staff’s warm hospitality made the experience even more memorable. While savoring delicious meals, I couldn’t resist capturing photos on the immaculate lawn, which looked straight out of a magazine with its seaside charm. Perfect for foodies and photographers alike, this spot blends gourmet excellence with natural beauty. An unforgettable retreat where great food meets picture-perfect scenery. Highly recommended!

A spectacular setting with bay views. The food is top quality and there are drink options for all tastes (my fave was the Figgy Old Fashioned). The taste of the food is the main thing but I also really liked the presentation. Make sure you have a reservation as they’re booked up more often than not.

Lovely dining experience - good menu. I only tried the chardonnay but rated it quite highly as did my friends. A good selection of food we tried the squid, lamb, pasta, tiger prawns, ravioli, cured salmon and chat potatoes just to mention a few of the dishes. Everybody said they enjoyed their dishes. Staff were polite and car parking plentiful. Lovely gardens for those that enjoy a stroll. We attended on a sunny day and the view is terrific. Will be back.

RAAF Museum

Military Museums
Located in Point Cook, just 25 minutes from Melbourne, the RAAF Museum is the original home base of the Australian Flying Corps. This museum offers a fascinating look into the history of Australian aviation and features vintage aircraft displays, including helicopters and various generations of fighters. Visitors can enjoy interactive flying displays on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, showcasing heritage aircraft such as the Tiger Moth and Mustang. The museum also offers guided tours for groups of six or more upon request.
For aviation lovers or anyone curious about Australia’s military past, the RAAF Museum at Point Cook is a must-visit. As the birthplace of the Royal Australian Air Force, this historic airfield sets the perfect stage for a museum that combines impressive aircraft, interactive exhibits, and a deep sense of legacy. Walking through the hangars, I was struck by how close you can get to the planes—ranging from early biplanes to modern jets. The displays are thoughtfully curated, blending technical detail with personal stories of those who served. There’s something quietly moving about standing beneath a WWII-era bomber or reading letters sent home from airmen in the field. It’s not just about machines; it’s about people, bravery, and innovation. One thing to note: the museum is not open all year round, and visits are only available on selected days with limited time slots. It’s essential to check the official website and book ahead—entry is free, but registration is required. I was lucky to catch one of the open days, and it’s absolutely worth planning around. The museum also runs regular flying displays (check the schedule), which bring the exhibits to life with real aircraft taking to the skies. Even without a show, the open-air setting and access to restricted RAAF history make this a unique experience you won’t find elsewhere in Australia. Whether you’re a lifelong avgeek, a history buff, or just looking for something different to do in Melbourne, the RAAF Museum offers an unforgettable deep dive into the stories that helped shape the skies over Australia.

A wonderful experience at the RAAF Museum in Point Cook! 💙 The exhibits are fascinating, and the volunteers are truly amazing so passionate, kind, and full of knowledge. Their stories brought history to life. Thank you for sharing it with such love and dedication! ✈️
Riya G — Google review
The staff and volunteers at the RAAF Museum are absolutely outstanding, friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. They take the time to explain the details of the aircraft, objects, and historical events, making the whole visit both informative and engaging. Their passion for aviation and history really brings the museum to life. Entry is completely free, which is incredible considering the quality and depth of the exhibits. The museum itself is impressive, with around 10 to 15 aircraft on display and thousands of objects including uniforms, machine guns, missiles, aviation equipment and other things. The collection covers a huge timeline — from before World War I, through World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, East Timor, and even modern conflicts such as Afghanistan. Each section is beautifully presented, showing the evolution of the Royal Australian Air Force and its contribution to global history. The souvenir shop has really good prices. The volunteers make the experience even better with their enthusiasm and storytelling. A few practical tips: bring photo ID to enter, as it’s inside an active military base, and check the official website for updated opening hours before you go and book is mandatory. Parking is free and easy, and the site is well maintained and accessible. Even if you’re not a big aviation fan, this museum is an incredible way to learn more about Australia’s military history and see up-close the technology and courage that shaped it. It’s informative, emotional, and absolutely worth the trip. A true hidden gem in Melbourne’s west!
J.Patrick — Google review
This is a world class museum that does a great job of presenting the history of the RAAF. The museum starts with a gallery that highlights the force’s roles in war. Visitors then move through three large hangers containing historically important aircraft and further displays. The aircraft are well presented and many are the only examples of the type in Australia - some are the only survivors in the world. At 1 pm there was a well executed flying display featuring a CT4 trainer performing aerobatics. The pilot and volunteers gave interesting short talks about the history of the aircraft and the display. All the staff at the museum are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The main problem with the museum is that it’s not serviced by public transport, with the nearest bus stop being 20 minutes walk away. I got Ubers from the nearest train station which were about $20 each way. The hanger displaying recent jet fighters is also currently closed while OH&S issues are fixed - this was disappointing. There are also some quirks to visiting. As the museum is on an active RAAF base, visitors need to register online by 8 am on day they visit and bring photo ID. There are also not any food or drink options. The museum website explains these any other issues.
Nick D — Google review
They are only open on Sundays and Thursdays and advanced booking is a must. Please carry a photo ID for entry. Well managed by the team. Great insight in to the history of RAAF.
Prasanna D — Google review
Interesting museum, this is on an active air base so tickets must be bought 24hrs in advance. Great selection of aircraft and a great history of the site and the RAAF told through the exhibits.

Visitors can explore the picturesque gardens surrounding Woodlands Historic Homestead and observe wild kangaroos in the paddocks. The Black Caviar Cafe offers a delightful dining experience, while guided tours at 11am and 2pm provide insights into the facility. The interactive Family Affair tour allows guests to feed carrots to the horses and learn about their unique personalities.
First of all, this place is spectacular. It has a great view and a nice walking path for leisure and unwinding. If you want some me time, this is a great place It's great for a picnic with family and friends. As a mental health key worker, coming to this place has become part of my self-care. I also take my clients to this place, and they love it. So I would really recommend this place.

Brought my daughter here for the guided tour and Devonshire tea. We had a great time with the guide, she was lovely with lots of knowledge. Feeding and petting the horses, learning a little about them, and enjoying the views and horses while being taken around on the golf cart. When it came to getting our tea and scones, we waited 30 mins, while others had all received theirs, even the ones that had ordered after us. It wasn't until we went up to the counter to say we were going to leave and not to worry that they brought them out in takeaway containers. It's a Saturday and the school holidays, they should be much more prepared for crowds and busy times. We will come back to do the guided tour but not so sure on the tea and scones.

Great place to visit retired racing champions. The tour is the way to go as the staff are quite knowledgeable and you also get to feed these beautiful horses lots of carrots. The cafe is small with a limited choice of refreshments, a pretty rose garden and toilet facilities. It is only a short drive from Melbourne airport and we'll worth a visit for and horse/racing lover.

Fantastic place to bring the family. We had a great day out. You can see the sheep, horses, pony's, chickens Then pop into the cafe were the serve light refreshments, coffee, cake (maybe skip the coffee it wasn't good). Then take a walk they have a few walking trails, a bike trail that goes to Moonee ponds.

Went there on a tour and it was wonderful. We were so shocked to hear that this beautiful place had been robbed and the theirs took horse blankets and machinery and many other items that were needed by this wonderful centre that looks after retired champion horses. They r in great need of donations to purchase what was stolen. The staff there give these beautiful animals love and respect they deserve after so many years of racing.

A couple of months ago we visited the Living Legends, the retirement home for ex-racehorses, it was a delightful experience for all ages. I brought my elderly mother, who loved seeing the horses up close and hearing their stories. The serene setting of the estate made it even more special. The charming homestead was perfect for a light lunch. We enjoyed a delicious spinach ricotta pastry, followed by Devonshire tea and a moist carrot cake. The friendly enough staff and cozy atmosphere added to the enjoyment, as did the cute little mouse that darted in and out of the dining room opposite the cafeteria. The grounds are beautifully maintained, making it a pleasure to explore. While walking, we encountered ‘Freddie,’ a friendly dog who appeared to belong to one of the staff or gardeners. He brought an unexpected touch of fun to the day. A fascinating highlight is the time capsule buried in 1993, set to be opened in 2043. It’s a wonderful piece of history that adds an intriguing layer to the visit. Facilities like the outdoor toilets are available, which is good to keep in mind when planning. Overall, Living Legends offers a unique blend of nature, history, and hospitality. It’s a peaceful destination perfect for animal lovers or anyone looking for a charming day out. Highly recommended! ******************************************* Returned again and what a cute surprise being visited by the resident mouse in the dining room ;)

Melbourne Zoo, established in 1862, is one of the world's oldest zoos and a family-friendly destination. It houses over 320 animal species from around the world, totaling more than 5,000 individual creatures. Visitors can explore attractions such as the Reptile House, Butterfly House, Gorilla Rainforest, and Caterpillar Greenhouse. The award-winning Trail of the Elephants provides an opportunity to interact with these majestic animals in a recreated Asian village setting.
A great day out for the whole family. So many gorgeous animals to see. Our family favourites are the lemurs, meerkats, butterflies, giraffes and penguins. The staff are always friendly and they are happy to share their knowledge of the animals. My kids love the main play area near the carousel. A fun place for them to run around or sit down to eat.
Aimee E — Google review
A bit like sealife we were underwhelmed. Im not sure Melbourne Zoo lives up to its expectations of a world class Zoo. It had so much potential. Now we are spoilt!! San Diego Zoo for example, and even Singapore. Personally I preferred Perth Zoo. I think the big thing for us was what appeared to be the lack of animals. Yes I know they could be sleeping but it felt like there was mostly only one of everything and you had buckleys chance seeing it. Funny enough you actually go to a zoo to see animals. Some of the enclosures felt small and not really good enough. There were also no shows like most other zoos, normally a daily programme. Also a lot of sections were closed either for a private function (not acceptable) or i don't know what. As with every entertainment event Food and Beverages are always a rip off but the quality, variety and costs here were terrible, again compared to other zoos. To be totally honest for the cost it's not really worth it. Fantastic for tiny kids otherwise forget it.
Mr S — Google review
Had a really great time at Melbourne Zoo, the weather was a little crazy so not all the animals were out but it was still okay. the meerkats are so adorable, they are definitely used to people. Few food places within the zoo out didn’t get the opportunity to eat at them. Found a couple of gift shops with a huge range of memorabilia. You get to walk inside a cage with lemurs in it which was really cool. zoo is open from 9am onwards. I suggest bringing an umbrella because the ones in the gift shop are $40. There is also a beautiful Japanese garden and a koi fish pond. Great function rooms.

we spent 3 hours here (skipped a handful of exhibits). great zoo to visit. super easy to navigate, great variety of animals. animals look well taken care of, with a lot of thought and effort put into their habitats and enrichment. lots of education for visitors. appreciate all the conservation efforts and information as well. loved this zoo and highly recommend it.

Melbourne Zoo is an amazing place to spend a day. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the habitats feel natural and spacious, giving you the sense that the animals are truly cared for. Don't expect to see all the animals. Some of them are sleeping or just hiding from the public. Not all of us like cameras and lots of attention. Hahaha 😁 There’s a fantastic variety of wildlife — from lions and gorillas to playful lemurs and the always-fascinating butterfly house. It’s also very family-friendly, with plenty of activities and areas for kids to learn and explore.
Tadas G — Google review
We had a fantastic day out! The zoo was huge and had so many animals to see. The food was yummy and prices were super affordable. Only bummer was the butterfly garden was closed when we visited. Would definitely come back, there's just so much to see and enjoy!
Nick — Google review
Had a wonderful visit to the zoo to see the new baby giraffe. We are members and love visiting the zoo as a family. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the butterfly house but was disappointed at the Asian tourists trying to touch the butterflies. There really needs to be an attendant in the butterfly house the whole time because even after pointing to signs not to touch these people were touching. Made my heart sad for the little butterflies.
Carly S — Google review
visited the Melbourne Zoo on a Friday and was genuinely impressed. It’s hands down one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to. The variety of animals is excellent, and what really stood out to me was the thoughtful, intelligent design of the enclosures. They allow you to get remarkably close to the animals — much closer than in many other zoos — without ever compromising the animals’ comfort or safety. While the ticket price is on the higher side, I found it absolutely worth it once I was inside. You can really tell that a lot of care and effort goes into making this place special — both for visitors and for the animals. Highly recommended!

Wonderful weekend experience at Uncle Nev’s. All horse were well trained and behave. Staff at the reception were very friendly. It was summer season, so all field was dried and brown and no kangaroo around due to the hot weather at that day. I think best time is cooler season. Just one thing I like to address about “ stand up!!” Commands to us from the guides while we were riding during the tour. The guides were sometime suddenly yelled to the guest “ stand up !!” While horses were peeing . We had no idea what’s going on. Almost end of the tour we found out the reason why we need to stand up because for smooth wee for horses. Please explain to us before started the tour.

Great fun day. This was an anniversary present. The horses are great and well looked after. Lots of parking. They can supply bum bags, boots and helmets. Your welcome to take you own. The start took roughly an hour to get everyone on there horses, so be prepared to sit on them for a while. Abit of paper work to do at the start. Nice little trails through the bush. We picked the 3 hour afternoon ride. We got to stop at a little house on the hill overlooking everywhere, we had coffee, cordial and biscuits. With a much needed toilet break. People were helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

I went on the 3-hour trail ride and the staff there made sure everyone was given horses according to their ability and made sure everyone was comfortable with them.... The staff were just lovely - they talked to each one of us and asked about if we were comfortable or not. The way the staff handled beginner riders and experienced riders separately was so good. they made sure that the beginners were sent first and the experienced to canter behind them. I would go this place every 2 weeks from now on cause the pricing for this 3 hour ride was worth every penny of the experience.

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium is a popular attraction for families and travelers in Melbourne. It houses over 10,000 marine animals, including sharks, crocodiles, penguins, and colorful fish. The aquarium features 12 interactive zones where visitors can walk through underwater tunnels to observe sea creatures swimming overhead. Additionally, guests can come face to face with Pinjarra, one of Australia's largest saltwater crocodiles. The aquarium also offers daily shows that educate visitors about the importance of conservation.
Love it the place was f I almost animals all underground and and some hands of touch if sea life. We didn't get allergy reaction to touch the star fish. The croc are way tiny than the one in Darwin. Nice lightening for photos and heaps to look. There is long walk and dev kept me going. As have to keep his pace. We did it in 2 hrs. And good place to eat They are some photos you can have the 4D cinema and VR are awesome.

A visit to Sealife is a wortwhile and enjoyable activity for the whole family. There is something for everyone and a wide selection of exhibits. They have sharks, rays, turtles, jellyfish, seahorses a touch tank, frogs, snakes and penguins! The lift upgrade was happening during our visit so had to park the pram out front. We had reserved a pram spot but were strongly advise against it unless we absolutely needed it. Managed ok without it. They have "free" pictures which they ask you to pay $40 for at the end. To be fair they come in a very cute book and it is a neat souvenier. Overall, recommend. Will be good once the lift is fixed.

It was ok, maybe were just spoilt other similar places around the word are way better. I really wanted to give it 3.5 but that wastnt an option. I went with my 15 year old daughter and we went as slow as we could and were in and out in under 2 hours. The exhibits were pretty good but there was a lot a areas with nothing. You also couldn't really do multiple laps more like a one way system. It was also very tired and in need of a huge update. So areas were unique and very enjoyable like jelly fish section. The crocodile pen was closed which we were unaware of. I does get really busy, I don't think it's worth queueing up for long unless you've neve been to an aquarium before. It's also on the expensive side for what there is. Perth Aqua which I think is better is about $20 cheaper. The only good thing is kids age is 15 which is very fair.

We've been members here for years and totally love it. They've renovated, especially with a cool new section where you can check out native marine life like biscuit starfish and spider crabs, and explore the rocky shore. The interactive rockpool is awesome for all ages, and their staff are super helpful, explaining all the species. One young Asian guy, I didn't catch his name, was amazing – he'd notice us looking at something and then drop extra facts. My toddler was hooked and learned so much from him! We went on a Friday around lunchtime. This place always delivers with spot talks all day long. We ended up staying over four hours. If you're coming from far, they have designated parking for a discount, but definitely check their website first. This time, we parked across at Crown Multi Parking and only paid $15 since we arrived before lunch and left around 4 pm. Their membership is worth buying especially if you have a little and wants to come for few hours. I highly recommend.

Wonderful exhibit, loved how interactive it was and lots for many different age groups, walking through the tunnel aquarium with big sharks and rays swimming above you is excellent. Penguins were the best part. Food quite reasonably priced wrap very yummy (chips too)
Rachel D — Google review
My partner took me here for a surprise date! He knows I love fish… it was perfect. I would recommend getting tickets in advance because it’s cheaper and if your students too there is a discount. The aquarium itself is quite large and the area where you can touch the starfish was nice. Although I feel bad about going to aquariums I think it’s nice to inform the general population about ecosystems that are in danger and how to help them as common people. I think fish are quite the underestimated and not so seen importance of our earth. I’m happy to see animals but it makes me sad to see them in enclosures. I hope that Sealife is an active participant in the ocean life and contributes in helping with the destruction of our earth.
Celine — Google review
The aquarium is much larger than I expected, and its strongest feature is the jellyfish zone, genuinely stunning and almost hypnotic to watch. The penguin exhibit is also engaging, helped by the addition of a fun 4D cinema experience. That said, there are several drawbacks. The souvenir prices are noticeably inflated, often around 40% higher than what you’d find elsewhere. Some of the larger tanks feel surprisingly empty, with fewer fish than you’d expect in a space that size. The overall variety of marine life is a bit limited, and there aren’t many interactive activities to keep the experience dynamic.
Joneth A — Google review
Was a nice experience. takes around 2 hours to go through the whole aquarium. My criticism of it from when I went to this aquarium when it first opened and then 5 years ago is that they have way less marine life now. Not sure of it’s a cost cutting measure or for animal welfare? Some of the tanks looked amazing and some had 3 fish in them for example. And lots of walking around with big open spaces but would prefer more tanks of marine life.

The Old Melbourne Gaol, located in the heart of Melbourne, is a historic tri-level jail that once housed notorious inmates from 1842 until its closure in 1929. Today, it stands as a museum offering self-guided and guided tours to visitors. The gaol shares the stories of some of Australia's most infamous criminals, including Ned Kelly. Visitors can explore original cells, gallows, and hear captivating tales about the prisoners' lives and crimes.
Spent 2 hours wandering around this history filled jail, had goosebumps for the entire time! Did the extra Ned Kelly tour with our tour guide Tom and I highly recommend as it really brings the jail to life. Highly recommend a visit and I can’t wait to return and do one of the night tours!

It's an interesting place with a lot of history. The staff are friendly and seem to enjoy their work. The actress/guide on the night in particular was very good. The Ghosts! What ghosts? Tour wasn't what you'd call scary in any way but it was very interesting.

Highly recommend add on just $5 dollars for watch house experience and you can see more old gaol not just the experience itself! The staff there are all super friendly. I missed the watch house experience for the first time so they let me go at another day just for it and I didn’t have to buy the ticket again! (The last time is at 15:45) Had a really great time there✨

A must visit in Melbourne. If you can make a booking for the tea rooms that’s also essential. A tireless tradition for Melbourne visitors. The architecture and decor still well appreciated by many and the building is heritage listed. Do look up and down. The mosaic tiles, the glass ceilings, the archways and painting. Stunning. Plenty of cafes and stores to keep you busy for an hour. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly fly. Pram accessible. Toilets nearby.

Moving from one eatery to another, we indulged in an array of freshly baked pastries, each one more delicious than the last. The quality of the food was outstanding, with every bite reflecting the care and craftsmanship that went into its preparation. One of the highlights was discovering a small patisserie where the selection of cakes and tarts was irresistible. The flavours were exquisite, and the presentation was simply beautiful. Our visit to Melbourne Skydeck was a truly memorable experience. It’s one of the best spots in the city to enjoy a panoramic view of Melbourne from high above. The observation deck gives a 360-degree view, allowing you to take in the skyline, river, and iconic landmarks all at once. Watching the sunset from the top was magical — the colors in the sky changed beautifully, making it perfect for photos. Many people also recommend the sunrise view for a peaceful start to the day. The place is very family-friendly, and our kids were excited to spot famous buildings and watch the trams below. The interactive displays made the experience more fun for them. We tried some food and drinks from the café; although the prices were a bit expensive, we really enjoyed the mocktails, which were refreshing and tasty. If you’re visiting Melbourne, this is a must-see attraction — especially for first-time visitors who want to see the city from above. A short visit can give you a great glimpse of the entire city. Overall, it’s a wonderful experience for both kids and adults.

Nestled in the historic Carlton area just north of Melbourne's CBD, the expansive 70,000-square-meter Melbourne Museum offers a deep dive into the city's rich history and diverse culture. With eight galleries spread across six floors, visitors can explore Aboriginal artifacts at the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, encounter Australia's unique wildlife including a massive blue whale skeleton and legendary racehorse Phar Lap's preserved body, and take guided tours to uncover hidden stories of Melbourne.
We booked our tickets online which helped us skip the queue. Reached around 10 am when it was still quiet, though it did get busier as the day went on. My son is very curious, and he thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the museum. The Dinosaur section was definitely a major highlight for him. The Rainforest section was another favourite - walking among real flora and trees inside a museum felt amazing! Other sections like bugs & insects, soils, and the Ice Age were equally fascinating. We spent about 4–5 hours exploring everything at a relaxed pace. We had lunch at the Market Café inside the museum, which was quite convenient. Afterward, we enjoyed some time at the beautiful Carlton Gardens just outside - a perfect way to wrap up the visit. Overall, a fantastic experience for both kids and adults. Highly recommend spending half a day here!

Melbourne Museum is an absolute gem! We visited after lunch with my son, and even in just a few hours, we had an incredible time. This is a place where kids (and adults!) can learn so much in a fun and engaging way — you could easily spend a full day exploring. The dinosaur exhibition was a highlight for us, packed with fascinating displays and information that really capture children’s curiosity. We also loved the insect area, which was both educational and surprisingly fun to explore. Everything is well-presented, interactive, and perfect for sparking young minds. Adults tickets are $15, and kids go free, making it fantastic value for families. I recommend booking online to avoid the queues. We’ll definitely be back for a full-day visit next time!

Pretty cool place tbh. The Melbourne Museum is huge — like, you could easily get lost in there. Loved the dinosaur section and the First Peoples exhibit, super interesting and well done. There’s also a kids area that looked fun even if you’re not a kid lol. Some parts felt a bit dated though, and a few displays could use more interactive stuff or better lighting. But overall, it’s a chill spot to spend a few hours and learn a bunch of random cool things. Would def recommend if you’ve got some free time in Melbourne.

I took my granddaughter to the Halloween at the Museum on the afternoon of Oct31st. We came a little early so we had to wait to enter. It was such an exciting event for my granddaughter…and for me. Kids in costume as well as the adults. The activities for the kids were great and we enjoyed looking at the gallery in the dark. It was fantastic. Parking in the basement was handy. Staff were friendly but not quite knowledgeable of the wheres and whats that night. Still, I will recommend this museum and this particular event. Its a must see and must attend!

We had the best experience at the museum. We went there when there was the Lego Exhibition on Star Wars - the creation were insanely good! There was also a rainforest in the museum - we went in to have a look. We saw the T-Rex show at the iMax theatre too. We had so, so much fun. Absolutely recommend a visit - more than worth the day and money.

This review is only about current special exhibition: Treasures of the Viking Age -The Galloway Hoard. The Galloway Hoard discovered in 2014 had 100 items, a small but very significant find. However, what is exhibited here is a lot less, museum blurb states about 90 pieces but it does look significantly less. The items are spread out in sections - entrances like Viking doorways & "padded" with massive graphics via video & static projections, albeit immersively displayed & easy to digest. The superstars of the Hoard - the small silver vessel with lid, the tiny crystal jar covered with elaborate goldwork & one more item - are all 3D-printed replicas. The reason - too fragile to be transported. I really liked the presentation & background on how the hoards were buried, the trade & marauding routes traversed by Viking warlords that enabled procurement of precious metals from far away lands along the Silk Route. But disingenuous inclusion of other discoveries is not necessary. I would rather hear more about why hoarding was so prevalent 1000 years ago or did I miss this bit? There is enough original intricate pieces that makes this exhibition worthwhile - artefacts like the Silver Cross with the fine spiral chain, intricate armbands (make great copies for olde fashion wrist watches!) & the elaborate brooches. But, but (& the reason for my 3 star review) - Where are the replicas of Vikings - both men & women, depicting how these wonderful ancient antiquities were adorned/worn? This would have really showcased the the wealth of the warlords & their treasured heirlooms..✨️✨️

Fed Square, also known as Federation Square, is a vibrant and dynamic public plaza in Melbourne. It features abstract buildings, restaurants, museums, and arts venues. The plaza's unique design includes an undulating forecourt paved with hand-laid cobblestones from the Kimberley region in Western Australia. Fed Square has quickly become one of the city's top attractions since its inauguration in 2002.
Perfect Chill Spot in the Heart of the City Federation Square is an absolutely amazing place to just sit back and take in the city vibes. The huge screen is perfect for watching live events, and there’s always a great crowd gathered around. The cool breeze, the open space, and the stunning city lights make it an unreal experience. So many people can sit here at once, and it still feels spacious. Whether you’re just relaxing, people-watching, or soaking in the buzzing energy of the city, Fed Square is the place to be. The traffic around it is wild, but that just adds to the energy of the spot. Definitely one of the best chill spaces in Melbourne!

This is a arts & culture plaza situated across from street from St. Paul's Cathedral and the historic Flinders Station at the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets in the CBD. It makes use of 3.2 hectares of space and includes several notable venues for art and cultural events and performances along with museums, galleries and restaurants. You can learn more about current and upcoming events on the Fed Square website. There are a handful of modern buildings with appealing architectural design on the square, making this an interesting place to browse and spend time even if not visiting to attend events. For this purpose you can pass by and spend a few minutes just before crossing Princes Bridge and the Yarra River to spend time at the Gardens or South Bank attractions to the south.

Federation Square, located on Swanston Street in the heart of Melbourne, is one of the city’s most popular meeting points and cultural hubs. Overlooking the Yarra River and opposite Flinders Street Station, it blends modern architecture, art, food, and community events all in one space. Fed Square has an energetic and creative vibe. Federation Square — or simply “Fed Square” as locals call it — is one of Melbourne’s most iconic and lively public spaces. Situated right opposite Flinders Street Station, it serves as the cultural heart of the city, bringing together art, events, and community in one dynamic location. The architecture itself is bold and distinctive, with its angular shapes and open design symbolizing Melbourne’s modern and creative spirit. What makes Federation Square truly special is its versatility. On any given day, you’ll find a mix of tourists taking photos, locals relaxing by the big screen, and street performers adding rhythm to the atmosphere. The square often hosts public events, film screenings, cultural festivals, and live concerts — making it a true reflection of Melbourne’s vibrant and inclusive character. Inside the precinct, you’ll find world-class institutions like the Ian Potter Centre (NGV Australia) and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), both celebrating creativity and storytelling in unique ways. Add to that the surrounding cafes, restaurants, and the Yarra River view, and you have one of the most engaging spots in the city. Federation Square isn’t just a meeting place — it’s the beating heart of Melbourne’s culture, where art, people, and energy come together seamlessly. #FederationSquare #FedSquare #MelbourneCulture #VisitMelbourne #MelbourneLandmarks #ACMI #NGVAustralia #CityOfMelbourne #ExploreVictoria #PublicSpace #MelbourneVibes #TravelAustralia #YarraRiver #CulturalHub #MelbourneLife

The National Gallery of Victoria, also known as NGV, is a renowned art museum in Melbourne that boasts an extensive and diverse collection of Australian and international art and artifacts. It is divided between two buildings: the Ian Potter Centre in Federation Square and the NGV International on St Kilda Road.
This is my first business trip to Australia, and I’ve come to the city of Melbourne. Today is Sunday, and I finally found some free time to visit an Australian art gallery. The collection here is very diverse, featuring both Eastern and Western works, including sculptures, art creations, and paintings. I personally prefer viewing paintings, so I took many photos of them. I won’t go into too much detail here, but I highly recommend everyone visit, it’s a truly visually pleasing experience.

The NGV is definitely a must-visit when you’re in Melbourne. The variety of art on display is incredible — from classic works to contemporary installations, Indigenous pieces, and international exhibitions. Every room offers something unique, and you can easily spend hours exploring without getting bored. What I loved most was how thoughtfully everything was curated. The exhibitions had a clear flow, the descriptions were informative, and the overall vibe was calm and inspiring. The gallery space itself is also stunning — spacious, clean, and easy to access by public transport. That said, it can get very crowded during major exhibitions. Some parts felt rushed or hard to fully enjoy because of the number of people. Also, the layout can be a bit confusing at times, especially when transitioning between different sections or locations. A few visitors seemed frustrated by early room closures or long queues for ticketed exhibits. Still, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. NGV offers a rich cultural experience and is a gem for both locals and tourists. Just try to visit on a weekday or earlier in the day to avoid the peak rush!

The NGV is always a great place to spend a few hours, even though it was quite packed during my visit, there’s so much to see that it’s worth it. The mix of permanent collections and changing exhibitions keeps things fresh, and I really appreciated that some of the exhibitions are free, which makes it very accessible. A must-visit if you’re in Melbourne.

My wife and I were visiting from Sydney and decided to go to the NGV as we were walking around the city. We were very pleasantly surprised at the diversity of the art and sculptures in the collections. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Melbourne.

I visited the National Gallery of Victoria on a busy Saturday afternoon with friends. I’ve been a few times before as a local, but this visit stood out because I had the chance to really explore more of what the gallery offers. It’s just a short walk or tram ride from Flinders Street Station if you’re coming by PTV, or plenty of paid parking is available nearby if you’re driving. The building itself is hard to miss, with its large size, striking fountain and man made pond out the front, and of course the iconic water wall at the entrance. Entry is free unless you choose to see one of the rotating paid exhibitions. This time, we skipped the ticketed exhibit and wandered through the many free galleries instead. On the ground floor, there’s a stunning foyer space filled with sculptures and the famous room with the colourful stained glass ceiling, which always feels magical to walk under. From there, you can step outside into the sculpture garden and pond area, which is another highlight. Getting upstairs is easy with both escalators and accessible options. The galleries are currently arranged by region, and it was fascinating to walk through each one and see the differences and similarities across cultures. I especially loved the Japanese and Chinese galleries, the detail and richness of the traditional pieces were incredible. Even though it was busy, the space felt open enough for everyone to explore at their own pace. There were toilets on every level, information points, and staff around to help if you needed directions. The building itself is so large that it almost felt like a maze at times but getting “lost” just meant stumbling upon more artwork to enjoy. We didn’t even manage to get through everything before closing, which only gives me another reason to come back. Everything felt well looked after, and the whole gallery had such a calm, inspiring vibe. I’d absolutely recommend visiting the NGV if you’re in Melbourne and looking for something to do in the CBD. It’s packed with history, culture, and beauty, and it’s the kind of place that makes you want to return again and again.

After Six years,I visited here again. There were many tourists and many interesting exhibitions, which were really amazing. After visiting the exhibition, you can also have a cup of coffee or some afternoon tea here, buy some art souvenirs, and there are many books worth reading.

The National Gallery of Victoria is such a gem in Melbourne! ✨ From the moment you walk in, the space feels inspiring and full of creativity. The mix of classic art and modern exhibitions is amazing—you’ll always find something new that surprises you. The building itself is beautiful, and it’s the perfect spot to spend a few hours wandering, reflecting, or just enjoying the vibe. Definitely one of my favorite places in the city! 🎨
