Great place to go for a trail ride! Cameron is a fantastic instructor and will give you mini lessons throughout your trail ride! The ride is suitable for riders of all levels, and a horse is selected for your skill level - plenty of chances for nice long canters! Lovely ride through the bush and gorgeous horses to ride!

Had the absolute best time at Grampians Horse Riding. Such friendly and down to earth people, felt so welcome. My horse for the ride Jasper was a perfect fit for me being a beginner. He was so calm and forgiving. The scenery was beautiful and I learned so much. I have definitely started an obsession, I need my own. Thanks so much Cameron!

Had a private tour today with Grampians horse riding centre. Definitely recommend going for a ride here! The surroundings are beautiful, and you get clear explanations about the key aspects of horse riding. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, the tour is customized to your level. The horses are well cared for! What’s great is that it’s not just about the ride, you also get to help with grooming and saddling the horses.

Fantastic! Cameron will teach you everything you need to know to be confident horse riding. We enjoyed the complementary overnight camping in the beautiful remote location the night before the ride. Highly recommend!

Went with my partner for a two hour trail ride. Had a great time as a beginner, Cameron was informative about horses, horse riding, and the local area. If you've the time and are in the area, definitely give it a go. Can't go wrong.

This is more than just your average trail riding centre. If you enjoy well educated quality horses then this is for you. Safety is always a priority but balanced with fun engaging exercises. Cameron respects his horses and expects you to do the same. He has a wealth of equine knowledge to offer if you're willing to be educated and is not afraid to keep you in check or alternatively allow you to ride ahead if capable. The scenery is magic and you will come away refreshed and more confident in your skills. We had a group of four riders from absolute beginner to rusty old keen 'wanna be' and all thoroughly beamed after our ride! Can't wait to have the privilege to ride with you again Cameron. A must see and very impressive! But be warned, so many stairs. Many many stairs. Make sure you're prepared for all the stairs... Very touristy so it can get crowded on weekends, try visit off peak if you can to make the most of it. Absolutely huge waterfall and plenty of walks around if you don't want the experience to stop! Really loved it and is a must see of the Grampians region. This place is full of surprises, can't believe Victoria has something like this!

I didn’t expect the sound to reach me before the view did. Low, steady, like breath through a canyon. Mackenzie Falls doesn’t just fall; it insists. And somehow, that insistence quieted everything else. From the Bluff lookout, the whole scene opens up. Wheelchair-accessible, it’s a place that doesn’t ask you to prove anything. You arrive, and the land receives you. There’s a bench tucked off to the side. Not marked, not famous. I watched a youngster sit there, swinging her legs, watching the water like it was telling a story only she could hear. That felt important. The mist creates its own world of ferns, moss, even the air feels different. I touched the sandstone and thought about time. Not in years, but in textures. If you go, bring something small. A thermos. A poem. Mackenzie Falls doesn’t just offer a view—it offers a conversation.

Beautiful waterfall! Done the walk to the bottom many times throughout the years and will continue to do so. The sight of it never ceases to amaze me. It’s 260 steps to walk down to the bottom, certainly worth the walk. The first part of the way consists of flat parts and stretched out wide steps whereas the last part downwards is short steep steps/staircases. The way down is easy, the way up might require a couple breaks. On the bottom you can enjoy the waterfall in its entire beauty. After it has rained it is especially huge, you might get wet just by standing nearby! There is an additional walk all you can do from the bottom of Mackenzie falls to fish falls to the right. Also a nice little walk to do ☺️ There’s signs everywhere to tell people not to swim in front of the waterfall because of the danger, however every time we visit there is still people swimming regardless. At the top near the carpark are good toilets. There is also an additional 2x lookouts at the top which look downwards to the waterfall; good for anyone unable to walk all the way down. And as per the famous sticker from my home country that has also made its way to the Mackenzie falls: Nett hier. Aber waren sie schon mal in Baden-Württemberg?

Amazing trek experience. Takes a good 15 minutes to get down to the base of the waterfalls. You can return from the view point in the middle or can go the base. What’s even exiting is you can trek further for about 30-45 minutes to reach fish falls. Moderate trekking, good to have water bottle.

The Falls are amazing, it was a good walk down the stairs, but you realise you have to walk back up them. When I got to the falls I realised it was going to be worthwhile. I went further downstream to Fish Falls, a nice walk along the water and through the bushland. I would recommend to anyone who is comfortable with rougher ground walking. Stopped on the walk up a few times, bit was a great day

Second time visiting Mackenzie falls, this time I did the lookout walk with my son and 80 year old grandma in law! She was able to walk to lookout and back no problems at all. Lots of Aussie native plants. Toilets at the start!

Speechless. Incredible lookout! It's a quick stroll to the lookout, you can see the lookout from the carpark! suitable for everyone of all abilities. If you want to go for a longer walk there are some more challenging trails surrounding the platform that allow you to take in the views. It's very high up so it's very cold, bring a jacket and some warm pants! Unless it's summer of course. I could stay up there for hours just taking in the view, a must see of the Grampians!

On that rainy day, the viewing platform I had been so looking forward to visiting seemed draped in a delicate veil. Thick mist concealed the distant mountains and the horizon, turning what should have been a wide, open view into something hazy and unreal. In that moment, a touch of disappointment welled up in me, as though I had missed the chance to see the most beautiful painting. Yet, as the light rain tapped gently against the railing and the fog drifted slowly with the wind, a different kind of charm emerged—the world felt quiet and mysterious, like stepping into an unfinished ink painting. Although I wasn’t able to witness the vast and magnificent scenery I had hoped for, I could still sense the allure of nature. And perhaps it was this very incompleteness that became a new source of anticipation. In my heart, I made a quiet promise: next time, on a clear and sunny day, I will return to let this unfinished landscape find its perfect ending in my memory.

Guys, don’t miss this place! We actually planned to come for the sunrise but couldn’t make it, and still — it was absolutely beautiful. You can visit anytime of the day and it’s worth it. I’d say this is one of the best lookout points in the Grampians. It’s super easy to access, just a short two to three minute walk from the parking area, and there’s plenty of parking too. It’s also accessible for people with disabilities, which is great. Definitely one of the places I’d highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning views from this lookout across the valley! Short drive from Halls Gap through windy roads, signs will lead the way. Less than a minute walk from the car park with no steps/stairs, accessible for everyone. There’s a viewing point on the left where you look over the cliff rocks towards the dam and another lookout to the right where you can directly see the dam. There’s drop toilets by the car park too. A must see! ⛰️

This is easily a must see when visiting Geriwerd. It is very rasy to drive to, the lookout is about a 30 second walk from the carpark, is wheelchair accessible and is absolutely stunning.

One of the best and easiest lookouts in Grampians to access. No difficult climb, or hours of waking. Just a quick few steps out of the car. Accessible to most people. Stunning on a nice clear day.

The best look out at the Grampians in my opinion! It’s the other side view of Grampians then Reid’s lookout! 5th time I have been here! Still amazing!

I regret to hear that my three days stay at Hall's Gap did not meet my comfort expectations. Incompetent & arrogant is the only way I could describe the staff. Front desk guys were worst & indifferent. They never returned my calls; definitely a lack of professionalism. Misleading Information was the key factor. On the website it specifies "warm salt water" but instead we ended up with a freezing cold swimming pool, mind you this was on day two of our stay. On the first day the pool was completely locked up! My experience at the lodge was not positive therefore I won't be recommending this place.

Great location. Units had everything needed. Kitchenette, TV, basic crockery. Barely any hot water very intermittent, no cold tap required. Main bed extremely hard. Very worn towels. Staff friendly. Couldn't keep room warm as need fob in the slot, so when going for dinner heater was off. Car park close but when raining there were massive puddles around so made it difficult to get into car. Very convenient if need to be close to main street. Cafes close by.

Avoid this motel. It is dirty and run down. Our room was dirty on arrival, so we used the dirty pool while we waited for our room to be cleaned. When we entered the newly cleaned room, it smelt of body odour, the bathroom smelt of urine, the pillowcases had not been changed, the bedcovers/ doonas had not been washed for a long time, the heater for the second room was broken, and under the bed was filthy. The toilet at the pool was disgusting. The reception is mainly closed, as the person in charge is away working in the nearby cafe. The whole place needs a lot of money spent on it and maybe employ a few more people. The manager is totally out of his depth and not coping.

I stayed here with my 2 brothers and my mum, firstly when i was in the pool it was super murky and filled with particles,and smelled like cigarettes, also it gave one of my brotehrs a terrible rash on his foot , it also gave me a super dry throat and made my cough worse. Secondly the receptionist was awfull and rude when my mum was paying he crossed his fingers like it wasn’t going to work?! And he took 20-25 minutes to come and wasnt good with his phone or what he was using cause he didnt awnser,and i want to say the room was disappointing the heater was noisy and hardly worked and the table was broken the top wood was able to lift up,and the shower when i turned the knob not even alot for cold it went freezing and when. I turned hot A little bit and it was boiling and moldy where u put the soap, and i was scared to see my brothers electric blanket on his bed looked like it was gonna catch fire ,and the sheets was so dirty lucky i brang my own blankets

Be careful. I surfed the internet for accomodation in Halls Gap but, because it was cup weekend, options were limited. I came back to Pinnacle Holiday Lodge advertised through Agoda. First look I noticed the FREE CANCELLATION, this was important because were were towing a van to Horsham for our son to borrow and it was hard to confirm arrangements when you are dealing with your kids... things are subject to change ! Two days after booking my son confirmed Ellis's crossing, which is closer to Dimboola, I have a cousin in Dimboola so I cancelled the booking on line. Next morning I received confirmation of cancellation which said No Refund applied to the booking. I paided $285 on my VISA, I cancelled 48 hrs after booking and 3 days before the booking date. A % booking fee would be reasonable but to keep the $285 not so much. I rang Pinnacle who said I needed to ring Agoda. Agoda would refund but Pinnacle needed to approve the refund. Agoda said they were ringing and emailing Pinnacle to approve, Pinnacle said they were not receiving calls or emails from Agoda. Pinnacle were saying they would do every thing they could to help but failed to call or email Agoda on the addresses I sent through. After 2 days of calls back and forth Pinnacle said they were very busy ...to busy to make a call or send off an email.... not so willing to help after all! Finally it was sorted on Saturday, 3 days after cancellation. It seems that when I came back to Pinnacle Holiday Lodge on Agoda's page I clicked on a cheaper price and the condition on that cheaper price was no refund. As the FREE CANCELLATION was obvious in my initial search, the No Refund was in fine print and not clear. I'm sure I'm not the first to get caught and I wont be the last. So be careful. Pinnacle said to call them direct in future, after this example of their customer service .... I dont think so!

Location is great however that is only positive with this dirty, shabby, uncared for accommodation. Need to wash dishes used, which is fine, if there was a plug, dishcloth and tea towels provided. Bathrooms mouldy in the 4 rooms i booked, towels thin, fraying and past use by date. Toaster rusted with dirt and fluff onbread when it popped up 😬😬flickering lights, toilet didn’t flush and would have checked out but had paid in full and given attitude of owner didn’t think i would get refund. Pictures on website are so outdated i cant even imagine it ever looked like this. So disappointing and I feel so ripped off as there were many other nice places in area. No love or care given to this place - avoid

We stayed here for two nights. The kitchenette is fairly lacking in amenities (only electric frypan, no pots, chopping board, or kitchen knife. There was a bread knife but nowhere to slice your bread apart from the sink). Kitchen sponge was old as hell and quite gross. Yes, that’s what we started with when we checked in. Hairdryer in the room doesn’t work. All of the sinks need to have their taps closed super tightly or they’ll drip through the night. The pillows are pretty thin and uncomfortable too. Had to fold it to get to sleep. I can accept an old bedroom for the price range but there are many things in the room lacking in maintenance. Pretty sure you can get a better price in the area. Only good thing is the location and price for a larger room.

Dropped by here in the late afternoon. Not sure whether it wasn't opened or already closed for the day. Anyway it was worth coming and exploring the outside of the Centre.

We were lucky to have weather that was lovely, although it was a bit cool and fresh, the sun was shining. A nice fresh winter's day. The kangaroos lazying in the sun, few Emu, and a kookaburra. Its a place I will return to for more adventures, during the summertime.

Cultural centre is closed. Info centre Cafe hasn't opened for years. Small giftshop. That's about it. Wetland walk is terrible and land is screaming out for Management. Wood, leaves and branches everywhere. Really disappointing as it used to be the highlight of the Grampians.

A must see/do experience whilst visiting the Grampians. The film is very entertaining with the history of the area, from many perspectives. The cafe & gift shop are a delight. Try the Lemon Myrtle Scones with a coffee.... unreal, delicious. A memorable experience.

I remember when this was being built and although it still looks good, some of the displays are getting tired, although the information is still good. Located just outside of Halls Gap you can walk or ride along well made paths. Inside is a small cafe where you can dine on fresh food and refreshments. Outside are some excellent interpretation boards that give a history of the area and the life prior to white settlement. The retail shop is extensive with lots of interesting items. There is plenty of parking under the shaded gums. The place is wheelchair friendly and in fact you can motor on your wheelchair from town to the centre. Very kid friendly with lots for the little ones to do. I would say you could spend at s minimum and hour here. There are tours available as well. Enjoy.

Totally surprised. Unsure if we wanted to visit with my son's family. Took the risk - it was amazing. Much, much bigger than you would think. Amazing animals and habitats. Our grandchildren were captivated. A fantastic attraction - under rated and unknown?

A special shoutout to the lovely young lady at the front desk her warm smile and wonderful help set the tone for the day. The girl working in the food van was absolutely incredible friendly, efficient, and so lovely to chat with. And to the amazing keepers who guided us through the most unforgettable Rhino experience wow! Their knowledge, passion, and care for these magnificent animals made it truly magical. Getting up close and learning about the rhinos was something we’ll never forget. Halls Gap Zoo is a credit to everyone who works there. It’s not just a zoo, it’s an experience full of heart, beauty, and incredible people. Highly recommend to everyone! 🦏✨monique and Nathan

A real surprise. Was not expecting a zoo this incredible in this location. Great layout, and plenty of free range animals to get close to. The deer were hilarious and friendly. Get a few feed bags for the walk through the zoo. Also has a great playground inside.

A great little zoo with a relaxed vibe and plenty to see. Grabbed a food bag each at the entrance and had a blast feeding the friendly deer; it definitely added to the experience. The meerkats were hilarious, constantly popping up and checking us out like tine security guards. Paths are easy to follow which helped when a deer ate my map! We saw a good mix of native and exotic animals and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Halls Gap Zoo is definitely worth a visit if you're in the Grampians area.

Fantastic Zoo! We spent a solid 2–3 hours exploring the winding paths, each lined with enclosures featuring a great mix of wildlife—local favourites and international species, from tiny marsupials, monkeys🐒 or reptiles to towering Giraffe's 🦒 The entry fee might feel a bit high at first, but once you see the scale and care involved (rhinos and giraffes aren’t exactly cheap), it’s easy to understand why. Friendly deer and peacocks roam freely and are happy to be hand-fed with feed bags available for purchase. It’s a well-kept, thoughtfully laid-out zoo that makes for a great half-day outing. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I didn’t plan on visiting the zoo whilst visiting the Grampians/Halls Gap, however I couldn’t help myself after reading the reviews. It is absolutely amazing there! The animals appear to be well looked after and loved, they all have more than suitable enclosures and then you’ve got the free roaming animals which makes it feel so different to most zoos. I would definitely make another trip here just to go to this zoo, hopefully next time I plan ahead and can try out the animal experiences. Not as many animals as mainstream zoos, however the circuit walk, being able to hand feed and get up close & personal with the roaming animals, and the fact that the animals in enclosures there seem genuinely happy makes up for that factor. Be mindful of the deer ambushing you for the feed though! 😂

If you ever take a trip to Halls Gap or Grampians National Park, don't forget to visit this amazing waterfall. This was not in my list when we go there. I visited there on first week of July and the waterfall is just amazing. I thought to visit this after seeing a name board. So worth visiting. You need to take a short walk from car park and you will meet this amazing waterfall. The walk is moderately challenging as pathway may cover with small water ways. Despite that it was an easy walk. Will take around 15-30 mins. The surrounding was also so beautiful

This hiking trail is easily accessible from the car park and suitable for kids. The trail leads to a stunning waterfall located in a beautiful area. It's an ideal spot for a picnic lunch, exploring the surroundings, and continuing on with your travels. The trail is flat, without any hills to climb, and offers opportunities to spot various animals. It's especially worth visiting after heavy rainfall.

Very easy walk for all levels of ability, relatively flat terrain. Interesting lack of running water in the rocky creek/river bed. The falls come into view and I guess depending on the rainfall will be how impressive the falls are on the day. Beautiful gully, easy walk, but if you're expecting Mc Kenzies Falls, your going to be disappointed. Still worth the photo opportunity

Visited during start of summer. Small waterfall tucked in nicely in the woods. Enjoyed the trail towards the waterfall. You can actually go very near to the waterfall. But I assume, things will be different during wet seasons. Loved the sound of the winds gushing the trees. If you are coming from Bellfield side, you have to drive past the waterfalls to reach the car park. Can be tricky, if you don’t realise because, of network connectivity issue. Better have offline maps beforehand. No toilets, ample parking spots. Trail is kids and seniors friendly. But prams might find it tricky. Include in your list if you have spare time.

Fairly easy walk; mostly flat. Can be muddy towards the end. A most unusual looking waterfall as the rock layers are very much horizontal all the way down the face.

This is more than worth the drive from Melbourne for a special lunch! Meant to take photos before I ate but couldn’t help myself. Amazing everything on the plates.

I stayed one night in the hotel and had dinner here. Meal was amazing, big portions, good variety to choose from, more than a pub meal but great pub prices. Also, all local produce used. The accommodation was great, clean and tidy, nicely furnished, comfortable bed and nice and quiet. Highly recommend this place.

Been here a couple of times and each time the food was excellent. Today we had the sardines and olive tapenade, croquettes. slow cooked beef brisket to perfection, onion rings where the batter was light and crispy and for desert we had the tiramisu and basque burnt cheese cake that was equally delicious. This time round they even Galivanter gin and tonic on tap that was the best G&T I’ve had in a while!

Though you might not expect it, Cavendish's unassuming Bunyip is easily the best dining experience in Victoria. All the produce is fresh, the food thoughtful, simple and constantly-changing to best make use of what is in-season and locally available. This time around we had croquettes, tempura-battered stuffed zucchini flowers, duck galentine with plum sauce, cold tomato soup, slow roasted pork shoulder with a pavlova and nougat parfait for desert. All were stellar. It's made even better by the atmosphere. Easily the least pretentious place you can experience food of this quality at. Your might be between an insufferable marketing executive and a local bowls club. Between an artist and four guys on their way back from a rabbit shoot. It's all helped along by the lovely wait staff (Hetty and Olivia, in this case). I couldn't recommend it enough and will be back in another few months.

Been planning to come here for a while. We had the chefs selection of dishes. Never had chicken liver parfait before, certainly not at a country pub, but it was delicious! The beef short ribs looked amazing and we were lucky it was one of our selections. The pick of the night was the cabbage in blue cheese sauce with peppercorns I'm presuming are from the lovely large peppercorn tree outside. Would highly recommend and definitely come back, great value for money!

This place is legendary and for good reason. We booked the chefs table lunch on Sunday and were so impressed with the quality of the food and service. Every meal was utterly divine. The exquisite mushroom and cheese croquettes, hand cured salmon, pork belly and brisket cooked to absolute perfection. And to top it off a sublime lemon tart that was really more a citrus creme brulee in tart form. The chefs table changes week to week so I can't wait to go back and try it again!

What a little gem. Amazingly friendly fun locals and staff. Roaring fire lovely flowers very clean and comfortable. Great grassy beer garden looking over a little river. Mel and the rest of the staff just lovely. Great local wine list. Food was spectacular . They put up with our bad singing and dancing. Rooms very cosy. Hope to be back soon

This place is closed. Do not waste your time trying to get here. There is however a magnificent view of the vineyards that’s worth the trip.

This is a beautiful little winery with great views, great wines and fantastic service. The wood fired pizzas were delicious and I particularly loved the Pinot Noir. The decked out bus/bar is a fantastic idea and the kids were entertained with the lawn games. We really enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend if you are in the area. Thanks for having us.

Not the friendliest service. Think the person serving us was stressed maybe but we were very chill and happy to wait so be nice if the stressed vibe didn't get pushed onto us. Wine was ok. (No tasting available but can purchase a wine flight paddle -. $15 for three wines) Pizza yummy. Views amazing and the bus a funky addition.

Love this place. We went to have a tasting, not to stay. It has great wine, bands, view, service and pizza too. Simple but great.

An easy walk to the viewing platform from the car park. Picnic areas and shelter to relax in a lovely bush setting. The fall was flowing really well too. There's also toilets.

Lovely falls. Very accessible 2 minute walk to viewing platform. Picnic tables, bins and toilets.

Stunning rocks formations. We saw it with just a small amount of flow of water but still amazing as it dropped into a deep pool below the cliff. Upstream are tickles to explore. Well worth a visit!

The falls are fantastic. The picnic area is well maintained. As are the toilets. Well worth the stop.

Nice falls, can only be viewed from the viewing platform, no access to the bottom as steep cliff walls surround the canyon, a nice set of little rapids up above the falls about a hundred metres, you can also camp here and there are tiolets, long drops.

Excellent park and scenery. You can't get very close to the falls, but the viewing platform is a good overall vantage point.

Fairly easy 1.2km hike with very minimal stairs, mostly path. Quite pebbly so watch your ankles. View from the top was amazing! It would be even better in the PM given the sun's position

A quick stroll, easy walk. Beautiful vistas and lovely bush to walk through. A must when in Dunkeld. Even spotted orchids. Do it!

A relatively short and easy hike that offers great views toward Mount Sturgeon (south) and Mount Abrupt (North) as well as the surrounding farmland. Highly recommended

Drive up a short dirt road to reach the parking area, which has sufficient space and a single picnic table (not suited for caravans). Fairly easy and pretty walk to the top - about 2,5 kms return (straight up and back). Great views of Mt Abrubt along the way and from the top as well as surrounding farm lands. If you walk a little further around, you can also see Mt Sturgeon from the top, but be careful as there isn't a clear path.

Easy uphill walk when it's not too hot and the path is not too muddy. Walking through after a rainy day was pleasant and you could smell eucalyptus along the way. A breathtaking and panoramic view with many photo moments.

This is a great hike for families with relatively young kids. It takes approximately an hour for the round trip. Definitely recommend. However, it's better to avoid on rainy days. Thanks.

A great hike for those short on time or who don't want a massive climb. Great sunset views of Mt Sturgeon. Would be a great sunrise hike too for the views of Mt Abrupt.

Wonderful hike with stunning views. Easy to medium level of difficulty. Most people will be able to reach the summit, if you take your time. There are a number of steps.

Southern most tip of the Grampians and just outside the township of Dunkeld. Great place to visit either as a starting point to the Grampians, or on your way to the next destination.

Beauty little hike fairly short but pretty steep you're rewarded with an unreal view from the top.

Not really enjoyable after being to the Grampians itself. The track is a bit rough and I don’t think it was worth spending all my energy to get to the top as the view is a bit disappointing.

Lovely, manageable walk with a clear trail that city folks like us could manage. This was only partway up and the view was lovely! The rocky point in the distance is the final destination, where a man can be seen looking out. Met a native here too! 🦎 The last few photos show the view from that point

A beautiful mountain with light to difficult walking track, some are step and rocky others are flat and manageable. The views at the top are inspiring, with the sleepy town of Dunkeld down below and endless sight in the distant horizon. As my partner said, 'who want to go back to Melbourne, this is the life than spending a lifetime working in the office'. During our walk up the top we saw some very large kangaroos. An advice for your safety, these beasts can retaliate and injury you. Best if you don't move until they leave the area. This is the only mountain that has the largest grey-brown kangaroos native to this area, they're similar in size to the great red kangaroo. We did 6 years exploring the Grampians, from the 2006 bushfires to 2012. A majestic place to holiday.

Lovely gardens and a lot of work have been done on the bridge and garden beds. The fountain has scaffolding around it, but it will be restored to original soon. Visited in winter so not a lot of flowers. The sensory garden behind the curators cottage was very special.

Old botanical garden, very large trees as the gardens were established in 1880's these were the 4th botanical gardens in Victoria. Most trees are well labelled, and plenty of history boards.

After Hamilton swap meet..bought some local takeaway Chinese food..took it to the gardens. Beautiful seating spot just near the rotunda..chilled variety of birds..decided after we ate that we walked around the gardens and checked out all the trees by name. Cottage, botanical conservatory, aviary, animal enclosure (nothing in there atm) bridge over pond. A little bit of work seems to be going on..which is always good for progress. History of the park was interesting, they had monkeys at one stage...a must visit.

Impressive. The fellow who designed these gardens was also the conservator of the Melbourne botanical gardens. His influence is evident in the flowing lawns and beautiful specimen trees. Gorgeous place to wander or sit for a while. There were a few people having picnic lunch when I was there. Love that the bridge has been rebuilt like the 1920's one. The bandstand has it's history recorded and it's worth walking down the North West for the historical elements including an oak planted in 1880.

We managed to catch a terrific afternoon with Trax Big Band playing in the rotunda. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The band woke up the nearby, and substantial, flock of fruit bats who happily skwarked and jostled in the sky above the rotunda. Couldn't have scripted it better! Delightful!

Good spot to walk the dogs on leash if visiting Dunkeld. It has multiple wooden bridges to walk across the pond, kangaroos and ducks. Only removing a star because it's not really a collection of the world's trees as promised - that claim is a bit far fetched. Lovely place nonetheless and worth the visit especially if you need a place to walk the dog!

A little underwelming. I wouldnt call it botanical gardens, more a park. But nice all the same. Worth a stroll.

Good place to visit. Finding parking lot might be a little tricky. Very easy walk and just big plain field for you to explore. There's a couple of historical stuff that you can check while you're there. Worth a drop by.

Lovely walk around the lake. Plenty of birds and kangaroos. Lots of big old trees. I would have appreciated if the gum trees were identified also.

I've driven past the end of this road numerous times but never on one of the few days it's open to the public. Today I was lucky enough to be heading back to Melbourne so took advantage of the open day. I'm so glad I did. It's a stunning old building that has been lovingly restored. Seeing the photos of the place before restoration really brings across how much work has gone into this. The owner was an absolute delight in his storytelling on the guided tour. The views from the tower were fantastic and because of the timing of Easter this year I was lucky to see a lot of autumn colours in the foliage. Next on the list is to actually spend the night in the apartment. That will happen one day.

Visited on a specially organised group tour. Kevin the owner, provided a most comprehensive talk on the history and renovations of the house and gardens. It was a most enjoyable excursion.

Rescued from almost certain dereliction the magnificent Narrapumelap homestead stands as an important and unique example of a French Gothic revival mansion that is said to have the tallest tower on a single story domestic structure in Australia. It’s a gracious original tower homestead circa 1873 packed with history that the owner, Kevin McIntyre has made his 40 year restoration crusade to resurrect this derelict mansion from despair. Out of shear interest and uniqueness, it was hard not to be drawn-in to the working progress of Narrapumelap. Each time, seeing something different, but more importantly, the completion of the reinstated tower roof which was destroyed by lightning more than 100 years ago. It was Kevin’s bold schoolboy dream that sparked a life’s calling that instinctively told him, saving the old mansion would consume his life. During the years, I have admired Kevin’s incredible inventiveness with a serious eye for detail; coupled with a restoration recipe, “Modo fac” a Latin motto broadly translated to “Just do it” that has seen the homestead to successful completion. On each visit, I had the great privilege of staying in the servant’s quarters that he skilfully adapted to accommodate comfortable bed and breakfast facilities, but more importantly, sharing Kevin’s great passion, huge knowledge and his friendship. It was a fantastic experience to stay in this unique history house. My partner and I loved the place. Thanks to the owner Kelvin. The tour that he provided was amazing and informative! Narramelap becomes one of my favourite heritage houses with great rich history. Strongly recommended for those who are interested in heritage buildings. It is never wrong to give it a try!

unfortunately it was closed when I passed by. Really like the signs and rocks outside that give an informative view on volcano’s. Though it was closed, it was worth the stop!

The centre and presentation from volunteer staff was very informative and interesting to both the young and old of our group.

This region is famous for its ancient volcanoes, and you can experience the present, from the videos played in this venue, and the past, plenty of artifacts are on the display, that are millions of years old. While in this area you may wish to drive to visit Mount Rouse, which actually is inactive volcano!!

My mum recommended I visit here on my way back from Hamilton. I had some time to fill in so I agreed (and it was next to the public toilets). I loved it! The volunteer was so helpful and I found the information, displays and interaction fabulous. I've recommended it to many people since. Well done :)

The crater rim walk was stunning. Looking forward to going back for some more of the trails.

Walking the Lava Canal Walk at Budj Bim was a truly fascinating experience. I now understand why places like this hold deep spiritual significance in Aboriginal culture; witnessing how the land was formed is awe-inspiring. Nature’s power is on full display here. We were cautious while exploring the tunnel cave section, as we didn’t have a flashlight, and the rocks were slippery. There was also the chance of snakes. We stepped in a bit, but didn’t go too deep into the cave. The trail itself stretches about 6–7 km through forested terrain. You walk over rocky paths and soft, spongy plant layers that sometimes feel like there’s empty space underneath—like walking on nature’s cushion. It’s peaceful, and at times slightly challenging, but incredibly rewarding. We saw so many koalas along the way, which was absolutely heartwarming! And towards the end of the trail, a family of kangaroos appeared right in front of us. While we’re used to seeing wallabies, encountering these larger kangaroos was something else; so powerful and graceful. This walk is something I highly recommend. It’s quiet, occasionally demanding, and gives you the feeling of walking on ancient lava flows that shaped this land thousands of years ago. You can truly feel the spirit of the place in every step.

Great facilities at the camp ground with hot showers and flush tolets. Fire places at all camp sites. Lots of wild life, and three walks start not far from camp ground. Recommend visiting

One of the coolest national parks in Victoria! I visited on a rainy day, and it was still stunning. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit.

A hidden gem of volcanic features in western Victoria. The caves were a highlight. We did the 6.5 km lava canal walk, which was strenuous and full of interesting things to see althouh sadly we did not see koalas. Would love to go back for additional short walks and cultural options. Facilities were very good.

Extremely disappointing and very unloved. There has been no maintenance on the place for months. Do not attempt the lava canal walk with school groups or young kids. Scotch thistle and grass to hip height and at aminimum you need good shoes thick long pants long sleeve shirt. Even then our WA visitors turned backed with prickles and a snake phobia. Very unsafe and track should have been closed. I would not walk this in warm weather. A complete embarrassment for Victoria . Please clean it up or close the tracks before someone is hurt or bitten.

I’m almost hesitant to leave a glowing review for this site because it is just so serene and beautiful, that I almost don’t want to see it get overcrowded with people! There were a couple of handfuls of people there when I went and it was simply perfection! Emus wandering freely around you, koalas in every other tree, cultural sites. This place is a must! The drive in is very beautiful and there are plenty of parking in different areas. Free access and different hikers to do! Koalas were on trees by the parking lot! I also had emu crossing the road! Highly recommended!

A lovely place to escape too if your needing quiet time or want a nature hit. It's also a beautiful place to bring the kids as well... we got up and close with the Emus and the Koalas. Not far from Warnambool township and it feels like your deep in nature. From driving to walking you get a beautiful scenic views.

Beautiful place, with lovely relatively easy walks around the volcanos and lakes. If you are planning a picnic or BBQ then be careful of the emus, they steal food, while the koalas are distracting you! Think its a well organised double act!

Wanna spot many cute koalas, this is the place! A lot of them are setting at the trees over the parking would recommend to come around 8:30am if you want to see other animals. After 11am parking is quite busy but 2 emus will come to the picnic area cause they know its lunch time. They are a bit naughty but they dont bite, don't be afraid just don't feed them!

A beautiful and peaceful place with lots of wildlife. We saw quite a few koalas, rabbits, emus,etc. it’s a pity that I did not have the time to hike. Will love to be back.

The Port Fairy Visitor Information staff members greeted me warmly as I entered the centre. I asked if I could work on my laptop at the table at the back. I was offered free WiFi all day, a charging station, approval to eat my lunch at the desk, plus free tea or coffee. Sublime!

We hired 2 good quality bikes from the visitors centre and rode part of the Port Fairy - Warrnambool Rail Trail. Fantastic.

It's evident that a lot of care and attention has been put into maintaining both the exterior and interior of the building. While I couldn't experience the services firsthand, the dedication to excellence was apparent from the moment I arrived. The building exudes a welcoming atmosphere, making it clear that both locals and visitors are valued and catered to with utmost care. Although I missed the opportunity to interact with the staff, I have no doubt that the service provided is exceptional, reflecting the commitment to ensuring a positive experience for all who seek information and assistance. Overall, my brief encounter with the Port Fairy and Region Visitor Information Centre left a lasting impression, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of guidance or information while exploring the region.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I have to say it seems crazy that I cannot review Port Fairy as a town and post photos from around the town. I think that would be a great way to entice more tourists in. Also, you should have a heritage trail as a separate Google activity that can be reviewed as getting the map to find all the historic buildings from the tourist centre was was just a punt. Get a walking trail on Google and allow people like me to review it shows there are other activities than just a lighthouse. I come from an Art Deco city and the city walks are such a draw card for tourists of all ages in our city. Maybe offer guided walks that can be booked too with info on the history of the beautiful old buildings. A great little part time money spinner for a local.

During our short visit to Port Fairy, we made time to walk around Griffiths Island, and it ended up being a quite enjoyable. The island is easy to access via a causeway, and once across you’re greeted with wide walking paths that loop around the coastline. There are two main tracks to the lighthouse, one 1.17 km and the other 1.66 km, so we decided to do both, making a complete circuit to take in all the scenery. The walk itself is varied and interesting. Some sections take you over sandy dunes and along the beach, while others follow wooden stairs and boardwalks through coastal scrub. The paths are well maintained and easy to follow, suitable for most fitness levels. Along the way, we were lucky enough to spot a couple of wallabies grazing in the grass, which was a nice surprise. The lighthouse is the main feature and makes for fantastic photos. On the day we visited the weather was changing quickly from bright blue skies to heavy cloud cover and even patches of dark rain clouds, which created different moods and backdrops for photography. Combined with the ocean views and rugged shoreline, it was a stunning spot to explore. If you’re in Port Fairy, Griffiths Island is definately worthwhile. Peaceful, scenic, and full of character.

Lovely area to walk and see wildlife. If it's windy, take the rightward path to the lighthouse. You'll have the sand blowing against your back instead of in your face.

📍 Griffiths Island, VIC, Australia A forgotten paradise. Pure nature. Just 4 hours train+bus from Melbourne. Should this still exist in 2025? The South hike is more challenging and takes longer time than the north hike, with plenty of rocks and obstacles. which will make it impossible for wheelchair access. Therefore, ppl with wheelchair should go for North track. This island has no living house on it, which makes it a true hidden pure nature gem. A magical place to walk and see wildlife. We were delighted to see the wallabies who were just so graceful and elegant with their little joeys. We visited on a rainy windswept day but it was still a really nice peaceful walk to the lighthouse and along the beach. I would absolutely recommend.

I visited this place with my friends and family with kids. It was a small walk of around 700m till the lighthouse. Walk was pretty nice with a bit of clear water walk and then a walk between flora . The weather was no AO great as it started raining as soon as we started to enjoy the view. The lighthouse was nothing spectacular but the overall sea view and a rainbow at back made it mesmerising. Sea waves were big and the rocks made them look magnificent. A must place to visit in Port Fairy. You also get a park near parking and a nice area to sit and have picnic if it’s sunny. 😊 Hope you enjoy your day .

Nice little island to hike to the lighthouse. Full hike takes an hour and it’s a mix of trails and beach paths and a nice little meander around this tiny island. Lots of birds to spy. Crashing waves off the Indian Ocean are very awe-inspiring and therapeutic.

Beautiful walk around the island, it takes about 1hr 45 min., very easy to do. You will admire volcanic rocks, white sand that blends with the yellow sand, crystal clear shallow water and powerful ocean waves.

A beautiful walking loop takes you along the beach and leads to the lighthouse. It’s a great spot to take a break. Like all lighthouses, this one is also stunning.

A beautiful flat walk on a wide path will lead you to the lighthouse on Griffiths Island. Absolutely beautiful. I am so pleased we went in this walk. I was surprised by the beautiful scenery and waterholes that we came across. The lighthouse is very photogenic and the area has so much history. Absolutely stunning and well worth a visit! If you are going to continue your way around the island it is important to note that this is not flat. It requires scrambling over rocks and sand dunes while praying you don’t slip! Lots of fun but certainly not for those with mobility issues.

There are two main paths to the Griffith Island Lighthouse: ​The left path is the shorter and flatter route. ​The right path is the scenic route that takes you along the beach. This path requires navigating some boulders, but is otherwise a straightforward and easy walk.

One of the best places to visit around here, peaceful and beautiful. Highly recommend.

Port Fairy Lighthouse is a lovely spot to visit. The walk out to the lighthouse is peaceful with beautiful ocean views all around. It’s a great place to take photos, enjoy the sea breeze, and soak up the history. Well worth the stop if you’re in Port Fairy.

Flagstaff Maritime Village in Warrnambool is an absolute hidden gem, especially for those who are into ships and maritime history. The entry ticket lasts for 7 days, which makes it incredibly worth it if you’re staying in the area. Though it’s not a large village, it has a magical way of making you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Your visit starts with a museum showcasing the tragic shipwrecks along the coast, filled with fascinating artefacts and stories that really pull you in. I spent half a day wandering through the site, and every corner felt like a picture-perfect moment with something new to learn. Whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a scenic, educational stop, this place is a must-visit in Warrnambool.

In Warrnambool, the Flagstaff Hill Marine Village is well recommended as a visit if you are local or touring. Our Entry Tickets for Seniors were $15 each - well worth it. Highly recommend to take one of the regular Tours with a local well-informed Guide. This will take you through the inside museum. The story of the Loch-Ard ship is the most interesting! About 40 minutes inside. You are then free to walk the outside Village. This Village id beautifully set out representing the past. Shops, workshops, Bank, School, Printer, etc., free to enter and walk through each. This is very informative, and well set out, built from goods and materials from the time. Allow about 45 mins outside. Total, need about 2 hours there. Yes, well recommended.

It was very much worthwhile to visit and give you a view into the past. Great exhibition matched only by the very friendly and supportive staff. The old buildings and displays are wonderful. Take your time to travel back in time, when things were not as easy as today. We had a wonderful time, thank you.

This is a place that transports you back to the past. Give yourself the time and attention to understand their lives and their stories of their times. It was a learning and eye-opening experience and journey and marvelled how real and true the preserved artifacts are. I would like to take this opportunity to convey my thanks for the team's hardwork, commitment and dedication in preserving and taking great care of them. I have a better understanding of Australia and it's history. Highly recommend to anyone to have a insight into their history.

Delightful place to visit. Provided senior concession entry fee. Spent a good couple of hours there walking through the village. Great ocean views as well. Had an average Devonshire tea which was a little bit expensive, but not overly so.

Very well presented historical village highlighting the early Settlers (whalers, fisherman). It's position increases the visitors ability to imagine life in this era. Very good presentations about the shipwreck prone coastline and early whaling craft. You can spend a good part of the day exploring this village. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Only stayed 1 day but was offered a stamp on the ticket which permitted entry again for 3 days (this was during a school holiday period). Reasonably priced. Cafe on site.

What a beautiful place to visit, every angle looks like a vintage painting! Thanks for the lovely staffs who gave the girls activities to complete, they loved to find things from hidden places.

Stopped in Warnambool in late March recently in the drive up to Halls Gap after the Great Ocean Road drive. This is a nice park for a short break.

This guy s one of the best playgrounds! So many different activities and things to do! It’s suitable for a huge age range. Great facilities, bbqs, toilets etc. You can easily spend hours here!

We loved this playground both day and night play was fun. The slide is very fast. Love the sundial, maze and flying fox. It is a beautifully designed and great playground for all ages and a number of hills for rolling down. Well maintained covered areas, benches and tables and BBQs for a good picnic. Toilets were clean. Nice walks by the lake. I definitely recommend this area if you are visiting Warrnambool.

A very beautiful park that was discovered when we were finding a nearby toilet at Warrnambool.

This is really a fun place for everyone in Warnambool. There are loads of exciting fun activities/apparatus to keep the children busy, while the adults can indulge in a barbecue or picnic. There are bbq areas, seating areas, washroom facilities and plenty of free parking available here. The lake enhances the beauty of this park, which is also inhabited by different species of ducks and birds. It's certainly worth spending some time here.

I would give this 5 stars but they've taken away the best thing here - the ADULT FLYING FOX!!! It is blocked off, I'm really hoping that it is just being fixed and not gone forever. The playground is actually an amazing play space for younger kids. Had many fabulous memories here but the kids are older now.

What a delightful stop along the Great Ocean Road area. Large public indoor dining area with room to move. Fantastic food options. Great coffee and beverage choices. Clean amenities. There's even a museum set up for people to view the dairy heritage of this local area. A must along your travels.

Heading out of Warrnambool along the Great Ocean Road, one of the first stops you’ll come across is the Cheese World and Museum. This place combines a fascinating collection of history with a well-stocked café and shop, making it an easy and enjoyable stop for travelers. The museum area is full of interesting displays. There’s a wide variety of old machinery and equipment once used in cheese making and farming, plus an eclectic mix of artifacts : gramophones, calculators, photographs, household items, and even toys and collectibles. It feels like stepping back in time, and we easily spent 30–45 minutes wandering through the exhibits. The collection is surprisingly extensive and well laid out, with something that will catch just about anyone’s interest. After exploring the museum, we visited the café and showroom. The standout for us was the Super Thick Shakes, we tried coffee and cherry ripe flavours. They really live up to their name: rich, creamy, and so thick that I had to use a spoon to finish mine. I loved it! At $12 for a small and $15 for a large, they are generous serves, the large was almost too much, but I’d happily order it again. If you’re driving the Great Ocean Road, Cheese World is a fun and worthwhile stop. Take time for the museum, and don’t miss trying one of those shakes. Cheese World and Museum in Allansford. A really different sort of stop. This is the Western end of the Great Ocean Road. Or the approach to Warrmanbool if coming from the east on Prices Highway. The Cheese World is a café / restaurant with coffee and food to order, eat in or take-away. And a shop with local fare on sale. Next door is the Museum, that we found extremely interesting to walk through. Yes, recommended worth the stop and visit!

Some well maintained and displayed items from a bygone era, from household items to specific milk/cheese industry machinery. Good selections of cheeses, and a gift shop with various memorabilia. Sandwiches were amazing. 😋💕♥️

We stopped by to see the museum part of this establishment and to shop for cheese, which I think we missed. From the parking lot we ended up in the unstaffed, self serve museum full of objects and machineries from before. It was so random, strange and wonderful. Its a small museum so it doesnt take long to tour it. Highly recommend checking it out!

This is a SMALL cheese platter?!? These people are crazy! Crazy nice! Crazy helpful! Crazy knowledgeable and passionate! I’m not a huge cheese guy (it’s the missus that was stoked for the stop,) but everything about this operation blew me away and I left with a cheesy grin on my face. If you’re driving the Great Ocean Road you have to stop here - there’s something for everyone’s taste and it’s all tasty!

Definitely not what it used to be! Its been a couple of years but I was shocked to see this is basically all the cheese available...much less than years gone by. Not much locally produced giftware - just some chocolates, jams relishes and a small selection of wines, all at very high prices and everything gifty was from one major kitchen brand. Waited 20mins for 2 flavour lacking takeaway milkshakes, saved only by the fact they were ice cold.

A nice lake surrounded by hills. There is toilets, a BBQ area under shelter, tables, and a playground. A decent Boat ramp and short jetty...water has blue-green algae in it so not good for swimming. Great views of the lake from the top of the hills.

Campground and facilities very well maintained. Extensive grassed area for camping. New boat ramp and dock very user friendly. Weather during our visit not so friendly, but that said, an enjoyable place.

Nice place, which opens until pretty late for Aussie. Worth driving out of Port Campbell for. Place was quite lively even at 7.30pm. If you wish, you can also come earlier for the Pick Your Own strawberries. Was given a sample during dinner and it was delightful! The Thai dishes they served were quite authentic, definitely better than those which u find in the city. Came as 2 adults and 1 toddler. Thumbs up!

5 stars is not enough! 🌟 Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, but the crispy pork fried was the highlight. Worth the drive, especially if you’re staying in Port Campbell and craving Asian cuisine. My partner and daughter loved every bite, and the warm, welcoming service made us feel so special. Special thanks to the lovely Filipina staff who recommended the best dishes—and they even surprised my partner with a cake and candle! Truly a hidden gem; we’ll definitely be back and will definitely recommend this place to friends and family visiting the 12 Apostles!

Stumbled upon this charming Thai spot on our Great Ocean Road drive—perfect for rice-craving Filipino tourists like us! Flavorful, spicy dishes (a bit sweet for some), and a great ambiance. Wish we had more time for strawberry picking!

The food was awesome at this tucked away beautiful restaurant. The menu had a huge range of choices and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a chill dinner visit.

Delicious Thai food, served with genuine country hospitality — starting with the warm welcome from Heather. The flavours were fresh, authentic, and beautifully presented. We’ll gladly come back next time we’re in town!

My wife (who is Thai) and I visited this restaurant not knowing what to expect. I must admit we were pleasantly surprised. According to my wife the food is the most authentic Thai food she has eaten in Australia so far. Certainly worth the drive to Timboon while travelling along the Great Ocean Road.

Great Thai food in Australia. Would be better if the dishes are made less sweet. The fried rice does have the wok hey, the crispy pork is really crispy. They cooked and served all dishes per table. Great and friendly host!

Some claimed the same or better than the famous of Twelve Apostles, but just as impressive in our view, the Bay of Islands is a collection of pale limestone stacks buffeted by the heavy waves of the Southern Ocean. The Bay of Islands is about 25 minutes past the Twelve Apostles, near Peterborough. Let’s known and more peaceful to enjoy the view as less tourist known. They're particularly beautiful at sunset, and there’s a short boardwalk along the coastline where you can take in the best views. With similar scenery to the Apostles yet half the crowds, this is definitely one of the more underrated places to visit along the Great Ocean Road.

Such an amazing lookout with amazing views of the rock formations along the Great Ocean Road. On a nice day you would be able to have some great views of the expanse.

Another spectacular point of interest along the Great Ocean Road. Arguably not as good as some of the others, but still definitely worth a visit. It's a short walk from the car for some magnificent views. Dogs are not allowed here unfortunately.

The Great Ocean Road is one of the most spectacular coastlines in Australia with great views and natural scenery, from numerous coastal lookouts along way. The Bay of Martyrs, part of the Bay of Islands Coastal Park, is one such point. The views from the Bay of Martyrs car park are breathtaking, especially at dusk and dawn.

Beautifully wild ,unfortunately a lot of camp spots do not allow overnight stays. Same old story with Victoria. Could learn a bit from other states. Not here to bag them but maybe tourism would do better with more free camping.
