Hallett Cove Conservation Park

Nature & Parks
Hallett Cove Conservation Park is a coastal park located just under an hour's drive from the city, offering a 2km hike with breathtaking coastal views. The park features interpretive boardwalks that showcase the area's geological and archaeological significance, including the world-famous Sugarloaf and a 200 million-year-old glacial pavement. Visitors can learn about ancient glaciers while enjoying accessible trails, a rocky beach, and magnificent coastal scenery.
The walking trails have recently been reopened in 2024, with 2x newly constructed suspension bridges that have been installed, This walk is beautiful, from the high clifftop lookouts, to the scenic geological structures that were created millions of years ago. It is a relatively easy walk with stairs and dirt tracks. I recommend starting at the Boat Shed Cafe and walking with the wind until you turn around and enjoy the cool sea breeze on the way back. It took me about an hour casually walking and stopping to take photos, until i reached the first suspension bridge. It was a 2 hour round trip for me. I recommend a bottle of water, sunscreen and hat, along with walking shoes for the undulating terrain and different surfaces. I thought the walk was amazing and the Boat Shed Cafe was a welcome sight for some cold drinks and delicious food afterwards.

Very beautiful place including walking and hiking areas 🚶‍♀️🥾. Fascinating beaches 🌊and mountains ⛰️ We went there on public holiday. It was amazing experience with my family 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒😍
Sampath A — Google review
I recently visited Hallett Cove Conservation Park and was truly impressed by its natural beauty and unique geological features. The walking trails are well-maintained and offer stunning coastal views, especially from the boardwalk that winds along the cliffs. I loved the mix of rugged coastline, interesting rock formations, and the fossil-rich Sugarloaf. It’s a great place for an easy to moderate hike, with plenty of spots to stop and take in the ocean scenery. I appreciated how informative the signage is — it really helped me understand the geological history of the area. There’s also a nice picnic area near the car park which makes it a good spot for families. The only downside was that some sections can get a bit windy, so I’d recommend dressing appropriately and bringing water and sun protection. Overall, I found Hallett Cove Conservation Park to be a peaceful and fascinating place to spend a few hours in nature, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys coastal walks and wants to see something a bit different near Adelaide.

sososo beautiful this Hallett park indeed love the stunning view here❤️ didn’t have very high expectation before coming, just do a little research, at first wanted go pink lake today though the weather forecast showed cloudy day so found this place hahahaa and this definitely worth coming loveyaya soso good experience here yaya and pretty easy getting here only take 30mins drive from city center and you arrive this breathtaking park haha really like a paradise close to the adelaide’s center very unexpected and stunning!!! hallett park is just like a circle you can walk from the mountain top first or going to the beach side first all a perfect scene❤️ and we go down to the beach first and get back the mountain and going to the sugarloaf and black cove point later on, and finally getting to the top of the mountain i think this is a perfect trail for us hahahaaa, seeing every lovely landscape loveyaya<3 even i think we’ve just finished 1/4of the whole park loll but the visit already so thoroughly hahaha maybe next time we may have another chance visiting again and complete the whole mountain yaya we stayed a while in sugarloaf and this is a cute cave, just a pudding haha Its shape is due to erosion by rain and wind over the last few thousand years but the layers tell a much longer story around 295mil years ago, southern Australia (including Hallett Cove) was covered by an ice cap. It melted about 290mil years ago. The lower red layers of boulders and sediment were deposited on the bottom of an ancient glacial meltwater lake. when the lake drained, the white sand was blown over the red sediments. The brown cap is clay deposited from rivers about 3mil years ago. very fun hiking family day in hallett cove conservation park and in our mid autumn festival yaya happy for you and your fam too loveyaya Hallett Cove Conservation Park rating of mine: 5**

What a gem and so close to the city 😍 Los of tracks, board walks, etc, leading to amazing features, such as The Sugarloaf, Amphitheatre, and Black Cliff, with the higher parts providing magnificent views. The lower trail hooks up with the Marion coastal trail, and the first section is bitumen, making it easily accessible to wheelchairs and prams. Please note that dogs are not permitted in this conservation park. There is interpretative signage along the route describing the parks' cultural and geological heritage, including evidence of an Australian iceage some 280 million years ago. The outstanding glacial pavements along the northern cliff tops are recognised as the best record of Permian glaciation in Australia and have international significance. The parks beach is popular for swimming and snorkelling. The beach itself is heavily covered with rocks. Parking at the southern end can be tricky due to the popularity of The Boatshed cafe there. However, there are multiple entrances to the park.
Emmy S — Google review
This is an easy 2km loop through Hallett Cove Conservation Park, and it’s packed with some seriously cool ancient geology. Along the way, you’ll find signs that explain what you’re looking at—stuff like huge boulders and layered rock that were left behind when a massive glacial lake melted about 270 million years ago. One of the highlights is the glacial pavement at the top of the cliffs—you can actually see the scratch marks made by giant boulders dragged along by the glacier. It’s wild to think this spot is one of the best examples of Permian glaciation in all of Australia, and it’s even recognised internationally for its significance. The walk kicks off at the carpark and café at Hallett Cove Beach, down the end of Heron Way. And if you’re feeling like stretching your legs a bit more, you can keep going north along the Hallett Cove Boardwalk, part of the Marion Coastal Walking Trail. The views just keep getting better.
Kayne L — Google review
What an amazing natural scenery. It’s need to walk for 15 min.

Amazing hiking trails along various terrains. We walked along the Shepards hut trail, along the sea, and through the glacier rock formations. Boardwalks and sandy paths with stairs in some parts. Beautiful views!

Be careful of trams heading steright to the depot. Nearly got on one not knowing how it works. I'm from Melborne where that never seen it happen and we are used to cramming instantly. Man called out No, No. To me thank him. Great stop overall though
St. I — Google review
It is not a bad tram stop where trams terminate and commence however traffic flow age on Jetty Road is bad news as traffic users, pedestrians and passengers have to meander around side to side on this busy thoroughfare sadly no vehicle parking nearby

At the end of a pleasant tram trip from the City. There are plenty of trams (hourly) going to this place - which is located close to the beach; shops etc. A lovely day out.

Thought it was way over complicated to buy tickets for us out of towners not use to Trams or Trains, but once I down loaded the app it was easy as. We enjoyed our ride to the CBD & our little one love it.
Shane B — Google review
Nice tram stop lots of trams hourly instead of two per hour like trains and also this place is close to the beach and has a shelter and ticket machine
Luke — Google review
End of the line tram stop for Glenelg area. It’s in the middle of a piazza style square, surrounded with eateries and sporting a water fountain seemingly designed to entertain children and parents alike. Plenty of nights spots too, it seems, and the beach is literally a stones throw away.
Ben D — Google review
Convenient tram stop right next to Moseley Square & only a short walk to Glenelg bench.

Adelaide Central Market

Market
Shopping
Adelaide Central Market, established in 1869, is a food lover's paradise with over 80 vendors offering organic fruits, premium meats, and more. It is renowned as Adelaide's food hub and one of Australia's largest fresh produce markets. The market features a diverse range of products including fruit and vegetable shops, patisseries, cafes, gourmet cheeses, sweets, and charcuterie. Visitors can enjoy live music on Fridays and participate in various events such as cooking classes and workshops.
If you’re passionate about food, culture, or people, Adelaide Central Market is a spectacular stop. Its mix of tradition and innovation—centered on fresh South Australian produce and global flavors—continues to define Adelaide’s culinary identity. Though price-conscious visitors may need to comparison-shop, there’s no denying the energy, history, and community richness of the space. Whether you’re picking up artisan cheese, grabbing a quick lunch at one of the stalls, or simply soaking up the bustle, a visit here feels essential—a feast for senses and spirit alike.
Rae G — Google review
The Adelaide Central Market is such a delight! I had the sweetest cherries and the most flavorful quiche Lorraine, both absolutely unforgettable. Everything feels so fresh and made with care. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to wander, taste, and enjoy the best of Adelaide. Don’t miss the bookstore 🥰
Karen G — Google review
This was my second visit to these markets and, perhaps due to the ongoing renovations, seemed a bit less pleasant. Firstly, it didn't feel as large and secondly, I found it quite dark inside. Nonetheless, I did enjoy wandering all the aisles (some are a bit on the narrow side) and perusing the different stalls. The majority are definitely food and veggies, followed by fish and meat. There are plenty of eateries as well. If coming in by public transport, the free tram stops at Victoria Square - a 5 minute walk from the market. There is parking and the first hour is free. On Saturdays, the first three hours are free during market opening hours. There are electric vehicle charging stations in the carpark.
Emmy S — Google review
Artisan appeal and presentation - 5/5 Overall vibe was cosy and nostalgic walking around a wide selections of food and trades. Pricing - 2/5 Unfortunately, we felt many items are overpriced, which is a detriment to the notion of going to a market to find cheap local produce. If you’re not afraid to splash money, you’ll find this place amazingly diverse, but if you’re after a deal, you’ll likely wont find it here, and instead go to local famers markets. Whilst we enjoyed exploring the market, we felt reluctant spending money like $10 for a slice a pizza.
Win B — Google review
Busy and bustling market. Lots of fresh produce, seafood, meats, veggies, fruit. Not very many places were doing samplings when I was there, and inflation certainly is healthy, especially at the little eateries inside the market. Can't wait to see the place once the renovation is complete.
Candi M — Google review
Such a great market in Adelaide! You will find everything from pantry goodies and fresh produce to tasty baked treats. It’s right in the city, clean, well-kept and the vendors are always friendly and welcoming.
DD — Google review
We came to this large market on a weekday morning. There is lots of variety for fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, cooked food and coffee. Most of the shops were open and we had a nice time browsing. Prices here are reasonable. This is a must visit place in Adelaide.

The garden offers a range of activities for kids, including meandering pathways, diverse landscapes to explore, birdwatching opportunities, and historic buildings to visit. Beautiful gardens, amazing setting and very well taken care of. Walked through the entire garden, loved every part of it. Highlight was the rose garden for sure, absolutely amazing place, will go there to chill in the future as well.
Bishal S — Google review
The Adelaide Botanic Garden displays a few amazing plants, the most spectacular being the Victoria amazonica, which is the second largest in the water lily family Nymphaeaceae. The gardens were designed beautifully, and reflected the visions of the early directors of the botanic garden. One needs to spend a good part of one day to wander around the 50 ha of the magnificently maintained botanic garden. I enjoyed seeing the avenue of huge fig trees and the wisteria plants which were flowering. The volunteer guides of Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide take two free tours a day. We were privileged to be shown the gardens as an event of the 18th Australiasian Botanic Garden Guides Conference.
M C — Google review
Before visiting this Adelaide Botanic Garden for the 1st time, I didn't have much expectation as I arrived South Australia in January 2025 and experienced the longest drought seasons in history. Everywhere were dry, grey / brown but not green, especially northern parts of the Adelaide City. After five months of raining since late May 2025 and in this Spring time, I reckoned it is now the best timing to visit Adelaide Botanic Garden to see the flowers and greenery. It looked like my understanding was correct, as the Adelaide Botanic Garden was really beautiful, much better than what I expected. Everywhere were green and with beautiful flowers. Thanks to the effort of the team especially the gardeners, the garden is well maintained with healthy plants and trees, and beautiful flowers and lawns. They have kept all facilities well like the ponds, wetland, fountains, glasshouses, walkways, fences, toilets, directional signs and function rooms etc. Everything in the garden were tidy, clean and functioning well. During my visit, there were several weddings events held inside the garden, on the lawns and inside the event centres. No doubt to me here is one of the best wedding venues in Adelaide. I don't think I have walked-through every corners of the garden yet as it is so big. I will definitely re-visit quite again as it is really a nice and lovely park which is so easy to access. For example, it's good to visit it for a walk in a weekend afternoon and then cross the street to visit one of the lovely restaurants in the East End for an enjoyable dinner.

Adelaide Botanical Gardens A great day out. Maps available at entry Well kept and maintained Gardens Lots of variety Lovely old buildings. Wisteria Arch ways both were stunning. Rose Gardens a great variety Not far from the city. Can catch a free tram Lots of grass areas for a picnic or eat in the Cafe. I really loved seeing g the Black oak area very old great to see.
Corinne P — Google review
The Botanical Gardens of Adelaide were very beautiful and impressive. Large trees and magnificent gardens made the park a must see. Also the conservatory and other structures there were great. We spent a good 2 hrs wandering the gardens.
Jason P — Google review
A great place to visit if the traffic & noise of the city becomes too much. Great facilities or find a quiet spot. So much to do. Clean & tidy & looks amazing. Very reasonable prices for cafe food if you are looking for lunch but beware of the birds as they are known to steal food on occasion (there are signs warning of this in appropriate spots)
Julie N — Google review
Lovely and impressive botanic garden which you must visit in South Australia! Very large that will take you a few hours to walk 🚶‍♀️ and you will enjoy coming here again and again! The air is fresh and so many kinds of colourful flowers attract you 🌸 there’re also many bizarre glass statues that made with impeccable skills so artistic and aesthetic!! 💓

Established in 1881, this stunning gallery boasts an impressive collection of over 38,000 artworks that span various mediums including painting, sculpture, textiles, and more. A highlight is its extensive array of Indigenous Australian art alongside significant pieces from the colonial era.
Really lovely museum with great variety of art. Free entry with a very nice cafe too with outdoor garden area. One of many great things to see along that North Terrace street all close by.
Senan H — Google review
All the good stuff in this gallery was almost ruined by one exhibit in the second room I entered: two horse carcasses, headless, hanging by one leg - truly horrible. I quickly left that room and avoided it on my return. Otherwise, interesting and very varied art and design work throughout this large gallery. Gift shop and café available.
Laura C — Google review
We did the 11.00 am guided tour and it was great she was so knowledgeable you could tell she really loved all the art pieces, i especially loved learning about the illusions in the artworks.
Imogen N — Google review
We visited this at gallery and we were pleasantly surprised by the extensiveness of the art collection. The place is much bigger than it looks from the outside. We checked in our bags at the cloakroom to avoid any issues. There were many interesting pieces, ranging from historic paintings, sculptures and contemporary Aboriginal art. A recommended place to visit while in Adelaide.
S C — Google review
This is a really great art gallery that is free to enter. It has since iconic paintings and sculptures that you can see in my pictures. You probably need a good few hours to see it all.
Natasha G — Google review
They have some different pieces not just art which was interesting to see. Tried to ask the information desk about what are pieces not to be missed while visiting and they were very strange about my question? Bizarre staff. There has been exhibitions on that all stopped at the same time so few areas closed and a HELL of noise because people were drilling and got know’s what. Information was very small, sometimes hard to piece to what art piece, then also no further information just artist and date kind of information. Was just ok for me …
Sam S — Google review
Lots of beautiful, captivating fine art, and a restaurant downstairs that had a delicious vegan dish. There's also some modern art which I generally find ugly and off-putting, but a couple of pieces there were visually interesting.
Daniel B — Google review
Like most state owned art galleries in Australia this gallery is free to visit. Does not require any advance booking. Great for all ages. It has over 45,000 works of art; including impessionist, realistic, relics, renaissance, modernist, egyptian, interative art. It has the biggest collection of Aboriginal and Torres strait, and pre-colonial works. There is a gallery store and coffee shops, so it's a great day trip. Can get to via public transport, and plenty of streets and garage parking.

The zoo offers educational opportunities for all ages and is renowned for its captivating animal collection. As one of Adelaide's top family-friendly attractions, it provides an unforgettable day out for animal lovers.
Absolutely wonderful, so many animal experiences to do and I got to feed a cute hippo. Loved it. I will definitely visit again when I go to Adelaide. The cafe has respectable vegetarian and vegan options and there's a water fountain close to the kangaroos. People are so friendly and nice. This is a zoo I'd actually donate to. Very close to the city and walkable distance too
Darshini — Google review
It was a great experience and the zoo is very well maintained. The giant pandas were resting around 11am, so we couldn’t see them, but the rest of the visit was wonderful. The staff were helpful and friendly, and my daughter had a fantastic time. We were lucky to have the cheetah sitting right next to the viewing glass, which was an unforgettable moment. The meerkats, digging away furiously, put on a fun show. For me, the highlight was the walk through the wetlands as it truly felt like being transported into a real jungle environment. Would definitely recommend to visit at least once. Close to the city. Plenty of paid parking.
Shoaib Q — Google review
The car park for zoo allow to park maximum 4 hours. It is not long enough, but understand is a control of the flow of tourists, ensure all visitors got chance to go in and not crowded of people, so that visitors feel comfortable during the visit. The admission fee is quite high, but reasonable. Most native animals can find in the zoo. A bonus to the trip, 2 Panda is found inside the zoo, and we witness one of the panda poo poo.... Hahaha. The zoo is not as big as the one in Sydney or Singapore, but is nice to be there. There is only one restaurant inside the zoo. Foods and drinks are okay. The most lovely things is we meet a few volunteer senior work and guide visitors inside the park. So good to chat with them, and all seniors are act professional, patience, warm and nice. A thumd up for them. Wish them all the BEST!

My granddaughter and I enjoyed our visit to the zoo. It’s been over ten years since I’ve been and I was pleasantly surprised by the changes to the design. There is a great adventure type playground which my granddaughter explored enthusiastically. We also loved the overhead animal runs giving some of the tree dwelling creatures more freedom.

Had a work function after hours with a giraffe feeding experience included. Was an amazing experience. Not just the giraffe feeding but the entire function was great. Food was amazing, well presented and tasty. (My partner is a chef, so I can be picky). Staff were all amazing, remembering people's drink orders and very personable. Well trained and friendly.

Visited on a mild Friday mid November. Excellent facilities, food and refreshments. But vitally the care of the animals and enclosures was exceptional. Easy access throughout and enough to see to fill a six hour gentle meander. Let alone the colony of Flying Fixes right out front!

The highlight of our trip to Adelaide was here at the zoo! The most beautiful and well kept botanic surrounds, an easy walk and accessible for those who need it. A beautiful home for a wide array of animals. Of course our favourites were the roly-poly pandas however there were others who were just cute.

The restoration aimed to preserve heritage elements while incorporating modern materials that complement the city's architecture.
Adelaide Oval is easily one of the best venues I’ve ever visited. Every time I’ve been there, it’s been an incredible experience. The atmosphere is electric, whether it’s for a cricket match, footy game, or a live concert. The crowd energy, the views, and the overall vibe make it something special. The facilities are world-class, with great seating, easy access, and plenty of food and drink options. The staff are friendly and always helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. The Oval itself is stunning, especially when it’s lit up at night with the city skyline in the background. What stands out most for me is how well everything is organised — from parking and entry to crowd management and amenities. Every visit has felt smooth and enjoyable. If you’re in Adelaide and haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. It’s not just a venue — it’s an experience. Absolutely the best of the best.

Great location and has an excellent atmosphere. Went for an AFL match and made plans ahead of time with friends and got there very early so we could access seats. Use a walker and found challenges. There were many free parks closer to venue but disability was still on lawn and after the rain getting through the mud was difficult. In the venue there was a good size ramp to access seating and there was disabled areas. Lucky we got there early to access. Prices are high, which is expected. Accommodates more for able body people which is discouraging as it often makes it too hard to frequent locations like this. If I didn't have assistance I would not be able to venture here and enjoy.

Phenomenal Venue! Adelaide Oval is a Certified Concert Powerhouse! We attended Adelaide Oval for the first time, traveling over from Melbourne for the massive Metallica concert on Wednesday, November 5th. Yes! You guessed it—we came for the metal, and the venue delivered on every single front. For an open-air venue hosting such a huge event, I was immediately impressed by the sheer space and layout. Even though the place was packed and absolutely electric with energy, it was remarkably easy to navigate. The facilities and amenities were great, and every staff member on deck for the concert was professional and genuinely helpful. What truly stood out was the atmosphere. For a massive stadium show, the space felt surprisingly intimate, and critically, the sound was truly METAL! The acoustics were fantastic, making the live music experience unforgettable. 🎸🎸🎸⚡⚡⚡ We loved our entire experience at the Adelaide Oval. It's a world-class venue and absolutely the place to catch a show. Thanks for an incredible night!

Adelaide Oval is one of the most picturesque and iconic sports stadiums in the world. Located in the heart of Adelaide, it beautifully blends modern architecture with heritage features. The Oval hosts cricket, AFL, concerts, and major events, and is famous for its lively atmosphere and stunning views of the city and surrounding parklands. It’s a must-visit for sports fans and anyone wanting to experience Adelaide’s vibrant culture.

The Big Rocking Horse is a family-friendly attraction located near Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills. This iconic landmark stands at 18 meters tall and offers visitors the opportunity to climb to the top for panoramic views. Adjacent to the rocking horse is a toy factory where handcrafted wooden toys are made and sold. Visitors can take a tour of the factory, purchase unique toys, and even explore a wildlife park on-site.
The huge rocking horse is truly impressive up close, and climbing to the top gives you great views of the surrounding countryside. There’s also a lovely toy factory, where you can see handmade wooden toys 🧸(great for gifts or souvenirs), and a wildlife park where you can feed kangaroos and see native animals up close. Perfect for families or even just a relaxing day out. It’s only about an hour from Adelaide and makes a great stop if you’re heading through the Adelaide Hills. The staff are always friendly, and the whole place has a welcoming, nostalgic charm. Highly recommend adding this to your South Aussie adventure list! 🦘

The Big Rocking Horse is a fantastic place to visit! The giant rocking horse is iconic, and the view from the top is beautiful. The animal park is lovely, with friendly animals you can feed, making it great for families and kids. The cafe serves good coffee and snacks, though the menu is a bit limited. They also have a gift store where you can buy yourself some nice souvenirs to remember the trip. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and it’s a fun spot to stop and relax. Highly recommend 🥰

The Rocking Horse is an iconic must see attraction in the Adelaide Hills. It was wonderful to see it again after 17 years. The animal park there is quite good with a mixture of animals and the gift shop is big and full of items including hand made wooden toys. There is also mini golf, cafe and beautiful murals on the outside of the public toilets.

We had the most amazing time today at the Big Rocking Horse. So much work has been done & it all looks fantastic. The Staff were welcoming & going out & feeding the animals was the very best, loved it so much. Congratulations & thank you to you all for an outstanding day. 👏

A great spot for families to spend a couple of hours. The drive through the hills is quite scenic. At the location, you’ll find a few animals and birds, including kangaroos, alpacas, some peacocks, etc. The entry price is reasonable, though they could consider offering a slightly cheaper package for families. There’s also a nice café on-site.

Big Rocking Horse, Adelaide – Great Family Spot We visited today and really enjoyed it! Entry to the Big Rocking Horse is only $2 per person, which is great value. Climbing to the top is fun but a bit hard for older people since it’s all ladders — kids will love it! There’s a nice café next to the horse with good food at reasonable prices. The animal park beside it costs $7 per person, where you can feed and touch the animals — great fun for children and adults too. Toilets are available and clean. Overall, a fun, affordable, and family-friendly place to visit!

My sons 2nd birthday. We came here for a little lunch and a walk and visit with the animals. Iconic Giant Rocking Horse in Gumeracha. Its a nice drive to get here. Disability friendly and plenty of toilets and safe walking tracks for those limited in movement. The animals were well taken care of and friendly. Everything was clean and tidy. The wooden toys are always fun to see. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Ive been here several times and will happily visit again. Great place for families. Don't bring your pets.

Gorge Wildlife Park, nestled in the scenic Adelaide Hills and just a short drive from Adelaide, offers an exceptional opportunity to interact closely with a diverse array of Australian and exotic wildlife. Established in 1965 and spanning 14 acres of natural bushland, this family-operated sanctuary is home to koalas, kangaroos, wombats, dingoes, alligators, as well as various birds and reptiles. Visitors can hold koalas and observe these animals up close.
We enjoyed a wonderful visit to Gorge Wildlife Park. A cheerful welcome from staff and good information set us happily exploring this well set out park. There are lots of animals and birds to see. All healthy and look to be enjoying the picturesque facilities. It's on a slope but the paths meander around so that it's not difficult to get to all the wildlife. Highly recommend a visit. Good for everyone
Vicki S — Google review
Gorge Wildlife Park is a wonderful place to visit with family. You can easily spend 1–2 hours here enjoying the animals, especially if you love interacting with and caring for them. The park is well maintained, and you can feed some of the animals. There’s also a shop where you can buy souvenirs and animal food, plus a cafe offering meals and drinks. Parking is convenient, with three car parks available, one right at the entrance and two across the road—so finding a spot is not difficult. Entry prices are fair, and for an additional fee you can hold a koala at 11:30 am or 2:30 pm, which is a popular highlight. Walking paths are in place, though some areas have slopes and stairs, so keep this in mind if you’re visiting with prams or wheelchairs. There are several spots where you can sit and enjoy your own food, making it a relaxed outing. One improvement could be adding more information boards with animal details, which would make the experience even more engaging. Overall, it’s a great family-friendly destination that balances animal encounters, facilities, and accessibility.

Absolutely worth visiting! If you want a real, hands-on Australian wildlife experience, you must visit George Wildlife Park in Cudlee Creek, South Australia. This place is completely different from Adelaide Zoo, Monarto Safari Park or most other animal parks. You can hand feed friendly kangaroos, pet adorable koalas and enjoy an up-close encounter with many of Australia’s native animals, all at very affordable prices. The atmosphere feels natural, relaxed and family friendly. Staff are welcoming and the animals are clearly well cared for. It’s the perfect spot for tourists and locals alike who want an unforgettable wildlife experience without the high crowds or high entry costs. Highly recommended!

A great place to visit and get close-up with so many Australian animals (and plenty from overseas as well!). There is something here for everyone, from old favourites like kangaroos to some lesser-seen critters like capybaras. They were definitely the highlight of our visit, with the recently-born babies stealing many hearts in the audience. Don't forget the reptiles on the way out and, although less exotic, the rabbits and chickens are also worth spending time with! Very affordable for a family ($66 for a family of 4). I'd recommend getting there earlier rather than later, though, given the parking is limited and gets pretty full.

My first experience at Gorge will not be my last. I had the most wonderful day. I already can’t wait to go back! So many different animals .. the park itself was relaxing and spacious. Food was nice and the staff were lovely. The admission price was great value.
Gypsy G — Google review
Such a lovely place to visit. Not too big (so you can actually make your way around to everything easy) but also lots of animals! So many enclosures and all were so good, plenty of plants and space and very natural looking inside. Cool variety of animals - natives, primates, reptiles, farm, exotic. Can feed kangaroos and wallabies as well as farm animals. Also an awesome shop and the good people were eating from the Cafe smelt amazing. Very well kept, the signs were being updated while we were there and they had plenty of signs apologising for it, while still having some signs available. Only thing that bothered me was the map, was hard to use - maybe try a satellite image to help place where things are accurately or you know someone with a drone who could take above photos? I'm good with maps but was very hard to use, it didnt show any paths on it or anything.
Casey P — Google review
One of the major reasons we came to Australia from the states. How many people can say they held a koala or a kangaroo ate from the palm of their hands? Fun little park, we went on a public holiday so was packed but you find your private space to interact with the animals. Staff was polite and accommodating. Make the drive to Adelaide, it is 1000% worth it.
Amy S — Google review
I think this is one of the best wildlife parks in South Australia. Be careful around the Ostriches though they are opportunistic and will eat hair accessories and hats. We alerted staff about it but they didnt seem all too concerned so I hope they are doing ok. All the animals were very active. Goats and birds were mighty keen for a feed. They have Capybaras. If you want to see Fairy penguins up close this is a good place to see them. Very active dingoes too. You can hear them howling across the park.

St Kilda Mangrove Trail offers a 500m boardwalk journey through a flooded mangrove forest, tidal salt marshes, and sea grass channels. The trail is adjacent to the Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary, providing an opportunity to observe migratory shorebirds. Although the walk is less than an hour round trip, it may not be suitable for young children due to its narrow path without handrails. Visitors can enjoy scenic views from the lookout platform at the end of the trail.
A different escape from the mountains and the sea . The mangroves. There are mosquitoes all over the mangrove forest so mosquitoes rescue cream is a must. The trail is really long so bring your own water bottle. There are tiny fishes allover the marshy areas. The sands are weirdly white.
Maliha M — Google review
An amazing place that will not disappoint you. Tips 1: You need to go to a convenience store near the playground to get a pass before you enter. Tips 2: Although there are no flies, there are many mosquitoes, so pay attention to mosquito prevention. Tips 3: Only the first half can be visited. You can no longer walk from the small house. The whole journey takes about 30 minutes.
Yvonne G — Google review
It’s not opened! Don’t go! There is no NOTICE on the sign, so we went to the Tackle and Tucker shop to get the key as stated on the sign. However the shop manager told us this trail has been SHUT for 6 months due to safety reasons! And they’ve asked the council to put a proper sign at the entrance. However it’s still not happening.
Jemma R — Google review
Still unable to access full loop due to boardwalk needing repair but we still thought it was ok & scenic. I went with my 3yr old son and as the forest turned green, parts of the walk got a little slippery so hold little ones hands and get them to slow down. Some pretty spots hidden throughout and could see small fish swimming in the shallow waters which my son loved. Toilets available near main entrance.
Aerwyn — Google review
Very quiet and beautiful trail through the mangroves. Unfortunately they haven’t repaired the boardwalk, so The trail only goes to the lookout and return the same way. Before you arrive make sure to ring the tackle shop to see if they are open so you can collect the key from the shop. It can be closed as the tide goes over the boardwalk.
The C — Google review
Great short walk, less than an hour return. Single path to the end then returns. There are toilets at the entrance and a small place with info of the trail not far from it. The view from the end platform lookout is really nice. Very peaceful, birds everywhere. Not suitable for little kids as the boardwalk is narrow and doesn't have any fence or handrails.
Michelle L — Google review
We had a good time at the trail. We needed to pick up the key and leave a deposit but all fairly easy. The first part was a bit burned/dead (?) but the remainder was very green. Good time.
Tab U — Google review
This is a very special mangrove forest on the offshore marsh. It usually closes at 4pm. For access gate keys are available from Trackle and Tucker Kiosk. It is about 600 meters away from the entrance of the Mangrove Trail. It is best to carry anti-mosquito items before going in, because there will be many mosquitoes inside. The parking lot is near the entrance. A beautiful pink lake is next to it.

From thrilling slides and a bouncy boomerang to basketball courts and BBQ stations, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
St Kilda Adventure Playground in South Australia is a fantastic spot for both kids and adults, and it's my son's favourite place, especially for its amazing pirate ship. The playground offers a wide range of attractions including slides, swings, and climbing structures, all set amidst beautiful scenery near the waterway. It's perfect for families to gather and enjoy a day of fun and laughter, with plenty of space for picnics. Convenient facilities like nearby toilets and a large parking area make visits stress-free. I highly recommend it as a wonderful place where community spirit and joy come together.

Big, really really big. So much space. The playgrounds are also massive. Huge slides, swings, ropes climbing, and other play equipment - including a giant pirate ship on the sand! Great day out *if you are prepared*. If you're going, don't question this review, just do it. Ensure you bring: 1. Hats / umbrellas / sunscreen (no shaded areas). 2. Your own big cardboard box (for the massive metal slides - an absolute must!). 3. Picnic rug, food, and water (no benches really to sit at, eateries close by, or water you could confidently trust to drink - but plenty of nice grass). Do all of this and you'll have a good time!

A classic. I came here when I was a kid. It was a little more daring than it is now but it's much nicer and family friendly. Usually well maintained and keeps the kids busy for a few hours.

Great place to bring kids lots and lots of playability, plenty of seating and would be a great place for a family picnic.

I enjoyed using the playground even though I am not a child. I think a safety strap would be a good addition to the Flying Fox as well as a rope to drag it back up the hill. Sacks would be useful to be provided for the slides because I stopped prematurely due to the friction of my jeans. More seats should be provided and especially under the shade of bushes.

This was/is a special place. So quiet, just gorgeous setting. I would come back here in a heartbeat. The one thing I would have wanted to know is the nearest restaurant is in town so plan on driving 8 minutes for dinner. That being said, I hit foodland and enjoyed having my own meals after some wine tasting. The BBQ facilities were great. The beauty of the property is indescribable. I hope to return

Rustic isolated cabin for escape and rest. Loft bedroom could challenge physically but large spa tub and cozy setting make for nice getaway outside of Tanunda. Long(ish) walk to Rockford and Charles Melton but adjacent to Woorooroo tasting room.

We had a wonderful stay in the Orchard and Seville Suites in Jacobs Creek Retreat for 3 nights in late Sep, 2024. The suites were beautifully decorated and surrounding gardens were stunning. Jerry was highly responsive and most helpful in sharing local tips. At sunrise, we saw kangaroos near the vineyards behind the retreat which was amazing! On our final evening, Jerry made special arrangements in the Orchard Suite for us to dine in style. All in all, I highly recommend the retreat as it’s very charming and zen and in close proximity of the town of Tanunda where we found lovely restaurants. The Barossa Valley has so much to offer and staying somewhere like Jacobs Creek Retreat made our experience that much more special.

Rockford Wines is a historic stone building that offers sales and tastings of locally made wines, as well as sauces and chutneys. The winery features traditionally made, small-range wines, including reds from smaller labels like Teusner, Langmeil, Kalleske, and others. Visitors can witness the wine-making process and even see grape vines being shoveled into an antique grape de-vining machine. The staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wines they offer.
This Winery was so good, it ruined it for all the others! Small, intimate winery made traditionally meant every type was smooth, easy to drink, and just delicious. You can absolutely taste the difference between Rockford Wines and other local mass-produced wines. Free wine tasting was a bonus, and staff were very knowledgeable about the grapes and whole wine making process. Highly recommended.

For 25 years I’ve always said If I had a weekend to live I’d spend it at Alain Ducasse’s Bastide de Moustiers in Provence (scoffing down the Truffle gnocchi). Having now had my first Stonewallers lunch, I’ve revised my desired last moment to be sipping Black Shiraz in front of the fire in the Rockford Cellar door (after lunch). Stellar wine, made and shared by stellar people in a setting to die for ( but not just yet) 😊

A MUST STOP winery in the Barossa. Absolutely fantastic, unique and wonderful winery. Kris ran us through a free tasting of their 10 wines. She did a fantastic job and was very knowledgeable, friendly and kind. The winery itself was beautiful, we were there in May so couldn’t see everything functioning. However, come from on Feb-April and you will see it all in full working order. It’s incredible. The old buildings and autum leaves were INCREIDBLE. All their wine was delicious and we ended up buying a few bottles!

Lovely visit. This place was the biggest winery in the Barossa valley. The staff was able to accommodate us for a nice tasting session. We learned a lot interest facts about wine and grapes in this region. Not normally a fan of wine but I found some wine I liked here. The cellar was also a bit of a museum. Lovely team members here helped us through everything. The front of the building faces the valley plain which boasts a superb view!

About an hour's drive from Adelaide, this vineyard is great for wine lovers and even if you are not, you can head over for a detailed explanation on how wines are made and have a wine tasting experience. What I liked about this Chateau was that during the class where they shared about their wines, every attempt was made to help you appreciate their products, and they even provided coloured notes for you to keep, after their guided tour. A recommended vineyard to visit.

This is absolutely stunning!!!! A must see if you’re in the Barossa. The chateau is beautiful… the hounds are stunning… and the cellar door is opulent. We opted for a tasting and our host Rachel was fabulous… she explained the wines in detail and gave us a history of the chateau which was fascinating. You absolutely must put this on your list to visit in the Barossa, there are a lot of “commercial” wineries in the Barossa, but this one was an absolute standout for us. Great service and amazing overall experience. We loved the Tawny, shiraz ( old vine) Shame they don’t promote themselves on trip advisor etc… but maybe they’re happy enough with the number of visitors they get .

We made a quick stop here and opted for the Explorer Tasting. The staff member looking after us was incredibly generous, expanding the experience to include sparkling, several Shiraz and port options, and even some whites. While the overall style wasn’t exactly to my taste, we did find a couple of reds and a port we really enjoyed and took a bottle or two home. The premises are impressive, and the staff are both knowledgeable and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.

Love this property. Unbelievable, awesome gardens with original buildings. Great service and wines

As a fan of Peter Lehmann Shiraz, it was a real pleasure to visit the winery in person. The property is beautiful, the wines are fantastic, and the staff are very friendly. However, I am giving a two-star rating due to the pricing. I expected to purchase wines at a better price than in the market, but their prices were actually higher. Despite spending $102 on two bottles, I was still charged $20 for a shared tasting — whereas at many other wineries, the tasting is complimentary with a purchase.

We visited Peter Lehmann Wines to celebrate a family member’s birthday. The setting was beautiful. The buildings and gardens were immaculate. The interior decor was outstanding. As there were eight of us, we ordered two flatbreads and the tasting plate. The flatbread was excellent, delivered hot and it was tasty. Well worth the $35 price. The tasting plate had a good selection of items, but they were a tad sparse. For a price of $54 we expected a little more of each item. (The attached image provided was unfortunately taken after most of the 'limited’ items had been consumed.)

Beautiful winery, stunning property! Will be back! The cab sav and sparkling Shiraz were a favourite 😊

Visited on Monday, so we had the place to ourselves. We were 4, myself, wife, nephew and his partner from Cairns, on only their second tasting session. Firstly, the tasting room is beautifully furnished, with a wood fire as the focal point where we had our splendid lunch. Our excellent host was Ian, very knowledgeable, but also personable. We overstayed our planned time by some margin, but the total experience was great fun. Our younger visitors particularly enjoyed learning about the wines (and tasting them). Highly recommended.

**Underwhelming experience despite the setting** The location is lovely and the wines are decent, but overall the experience didn’t live up to expectations. I was especially disappointed that the wine tasting fee wasn’t redeemable with a purchase – something that every other winery in the Barossa seems to offer. It made the visit feel more transactional than welcoming. While the wines were good, they weren’t outstanding, and certainly not enough to justify the extra cost or the lack of flexibility. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it based on this experience.

As a wedding and event supplier, we've collaborated with countless venues and their staff, and the Old Redemption Cellar and their brilliant team standout every time! We absolutely love and adore working at this stunning, magnificent venue and making the magic happen for weddings/events with the A-Class team, lead by Jacqui and Katelin. They have their finger on the pulse, make sure everyone has been taken great care of (even fellow suppliers) and always go the extra mile. Owen's culinary delights are divine, so darn tasty and plentiful! What a master in the kitchen. Thank you team, we love you! xo

The food was great - we had the sharing platter which was both plentiful and tasty. Our group also got a private dining room which was a lovely touch. The wines were a little disappointing, although to he fair, we're not huge fans of Shiraz. Worth a trip though.

Seppeltsfield Wines is a long-standing wine estate in Barossa Valley, known for its airy tasting room, tours, restaurant, and picnic area. The estate features a brand new cellar door complex with excellent restaurants and offers unique experiences like winery tours where you can taste wine from your birth year. Visitors can also explore the vineyard areas on Segway tours for about an hour to enjoy scenic photo opportunities.
It was a recommendation from my sister in-law to my wife that we had to visit here with our friends on this trip. This is definitely a beautiful place, we first had a quick bite and the cafe then attended the wine tasting. Our host was Russell and he was magnificent. After I advised him that I don't drink wine so there was only going to be 3x of us tasting wines, he offered their excellent cordial. So it was just my Mrs and our friends going to taste their wines. Myself together with our friends younger son were going to drink the Cordial. I was impressed. The wine tasting went well, we left with 3x bottles and our friends with 2. One of ours was the Cordial. We will def enjoy this.

A lovely place to try 10/10 wine and walk around. Marcus was knowledgable, kind, and welcoming. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area- worth the drive from Adelaide.

I did the luxury wine tasting and it was excellent. We sampled four wines, along with a wine they classed as an “old fashioned,” which was a lovely surprise. The reds were the highlight for me I could have easily walked out with several bottles! Next time, I’ll definitely book into their restaurant, which offers a set four-course menu. The venue also has a small gin distillery and a wellness centre with handmade soaps and skincare products, which I’d love to explore more on my next visit. The scenery and buildings are beautiful, easy to get to, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend visiting I’ll definitely be going back.

Absolutely loved this winery … the estate is absolutely beautiful and plenty to see and do. Ideal for families and couples! Shoutout to Russell… he was extremely knowledgeable in the tasting rooms and we really appreciated his expertise and friendly attitude.

I had a wonderful experience here with the team. Hannah and Marcus were absolutely fantastic and have extensive, very technical knowledge of their wine and the winery.

We had a fantastic tasting experience with Russell yesterday. He was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the whole experience both informative and enjoyable. What really stood out was his passion and the way he shared the stories behind the wines. A highlight was being shown into the cellar where over 100 years of port is stored—an unforgettable moment. Highly recommend a visit with Russell if you want a truly memorable tasting.

A must visit if you are wine touring South Australia. We booked the Great Terraced Vineyard tour and the Seppeltsfield Fino Signature Experience. The first experience took us through different parts of the estate and vineyard to understand the history and mechanics of winemaking. Our guide was very kind to tailor the wine tasting to be a more academic one that contrasted different vineyards and vintages. The second experience took us to the centennial cellar to taste their 1925 tawny that was directly drawn from the barrel. After that, we enjoyed a long, relaxed, and delicious lunch with wine pairing at Fino. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed this place. We were there for the fortified. The young man that served us was knowledgeable, very friendly. He really cared about our experience. Took the time to share his knowledge, making sure we had enough information to make an informed purchasing decision. We bought 6 bottles to be delivered back to Melbourne. Delivery was quick.

If you're planning a trip to the Barossa Valley, make sure to include Segway Sensation SA in your itinerary! This thrilling experience at Seppeltsfield is perfect for both beginners and seasoned riders. The friendly guides, Shane and Jonathan, provide an engaging mix of historical insights and fun as you glide through the stunning vineyard landscapes. With a brief training session before the tour begins, you'll quickly gain confidence on the Segway.
Awesome time, took a little while to get my confidence but once i got used to it, they were so much fun. They allow you 15 minutes before the full hour tour for training and to allow you to get used to the Segway. They then take you for a tour of the winery finishing up out in the vineyards where you can really open up the segways and admire some of awesome views at the top of the hill overlooking seppeltsfield, they also allow you about 15 minutes of free time where you can have some fun within reason!!!. The tour guide was really friendly and knowledgeable as well

Very nice experience. So much fun and lovely ride with two amazing, friendly and patient instructors. It is a great chance to explore the area and learn about the history of how and when the area started to look like this. Highly recommended.

This tour is a must-see item on any itinerary in the Barossa. We were already very excited before we went, but it exceed our expectations even more. Shane and Ben were excellent tour guides, blending the perfect mix of historical facts about the property and getting the most fun out of the ride. There's no better way to tour Seppeltsfield!

My wife and I planned a trip to the Barossa for a few nights. When we arrived in the Barossa this was the very first thing we did hoping that it would kick start a great time and we were not disappointed! In fact the segway experience exceeded our expectations. Doing the experience at Seppeltsfield is such a great way to kick start any trip to the Barossa! Not only are the Segways thoroughly enjoyable but the tour operators Shane and Jonathan were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Coming from NSW we didn't know what to expect visiting the Barossa but the Segway tour really highlighted what the region was about which is more than just wineries but also great history. We learnt a lot about the incredible history at Seppeltsfield and the area and during the tour had some great photo opportunities within the vineyard itself and also a few great photos with some of the heritage listed buildings (all which you cannot see at Seppeltsfield unless you do the Segway tour). Thank you Shane and Jonathan for allowing us to have a great time and being so friendly and considerate! As customers we really felt valued from your excellent custer service. You both helped us feel at ease to operate the Segways and we had an absolute blast! Overall you helped make our trip enjoyable and one to remember!

Went on this tour with family visiting from interstate. Had a blast! Great way to see the Seppeltsfield vineyard, the operators were professional and friendly, the Segways themselves are easy to get the hang of - don't be afraid, give it a go! Highly recommended!!

Segway Sensation Seppeltsfield is a great place for first timers on Segways. I went with my partner in March only to come back again with our sisters in August. The host was very informative, friendly and made sure everyone was safe and didn’t fall behind. For those who have never been on a segway before, I highly recommend giving it a crack starting with Segway Sensation in Seppeltsfield! I have yet to try the other 2 Segway trips in Adelaide but I’ll be trying them soon!

Martindale Hall is a stunning sandstone manor in Georgian style located 3km south of Mintaro. Built in 1880 for young pastoralist Edmund Bowman Jnr, the manor features original furnishings, an ornate blackwood staircase, and a museum-like smoking room. It served as Appleyard College in the film 'Picnic at Hanging Rock.' Visitors can explore the extensive grounds and admire the period furniture while learning about its fascinating history from caretakers.
This beautiful manor house is a WOW. The expense when built was amazing and the later owner had it looking amazing. So pleased it has been preserved. Make sure you read the room description notices.

EXCELLENT, was quite cold inside, but was good to find out a little bit of information about my great grandfather who was the station manager for W.T. Mortlock. Highly recommend coming here to have a look around while you are at Monaro or even the Clare Valley.

This place is fabulous. The $20 / $22 entry fee is well worth it. The upkeep must be colossally expensive. What a treasure to have available for everyone to admire. We are so incredibly lucky it’s open to the public. And I was especially lucky to get in on a Tuesday as a luncheon event meant they were open. Previously posted photos give a very good idea of what’s to be expected.

A must see. The history of the property and collection of authentic artefacts was mind blowing, not to mention the grandeur of the building. To think that it was built in the 1800’s in just 1 year by a crew of English artisans and trades was incredible.

Unique place ideal for a family outing (or chess players looking for a unique spot to play). There isn’t a huge variety of things to do, but if you take your time, explore, and play the quiz and assorted games you can happily stay for a couple hours and keep the kids occupied.
Leigh H — Google review
Sad that they are closing down. It's tougher than you think and the side games are more interesting than I imagined. Worth the drive from Adelaide. Goodbye and thanks!

This is an amazing maze built with plants. While exploring the maze, you can also complete the tasks on paper given by the staff. In addition to the maze, there are many interesting small games here. When children are playing, adults can buy a cup of coffee and snacks to relax comfortably.
Lu L — Google review
We came with just two adults (one with childhood memories of Mintaro Maze and one without.) We both found our visit very enjoyable! We took our time and discovered as many surprises as we could. The games and activities provided are a nice bonus too. $20 per adult may be a little on the pricey side, but we felt it was worth the price for the fun we had and especially knowing the money goes towards a local attraction with a long history.
Jess M — Google review
Went to this charming little place with my 4yr old son who got abit nervous when he realised the Maze wasn't as straight forward as he expected (poor thing) but he really enjoyed the small games scattered throughout the remainder of the garden. We probably stayed for approx. 90 minutes all up.

Went expecting to get a coffee and have a quick walk A$18 C$10. Stayed over an hour for the puzzles, games and quiz throughout the garden and maze. Had a great time.
Kirsty M — Google review
Be aware is not free, 18 dollars person person. The maze is not that big you can do it all in 15 minutes. It is really nice garden and very well taken care. It is a tourist spot so they can charge anything but once you done you will never go back.
Janaina L — Google review
Worth a visit for the whole family or the romantic couple date. There is plenty to keep everyone entertained. Entry fee applicable at the cafe before entry to the grounds. The maze & premises is smaller than anticipated so don’t fear, the little ones won’t get lost. Cafe offers good coffee & adult refreshments, lucky dips ($8) for the kids, plenty of games outdoors aside the maze to keep the kids entertained. We even spotted rabbits on the grounds which was a pleasant surprise for the little ones. Keep your receipt of entry as if you will receive discount entry fee to Martindale Hall.

A great winery to visit with so much history attached to it. The tasting was excellent. Thank you Julian for your hospitality and welcoming nature. Your assistance and hosting made our visit enjoyable. We signed up to the wine club and are looking forward to our first order arriving home in Ipswich to remind us of the experience and location. The church and crypt was fascinating to see and walk through. 🍇 🍷 ⛪️

Our customers always speak highly of their experience at Sevenhill Cellars in the Clare Valley. As the oldest winery in the region, it offers a unique blend of history, architecture, and outstanding wines. Guests especially appreciate the beautiful grounds, the peaceful setting, and the connection to South Australia’s Jesuit heritage. At Affordable Chauffeur Services, we often include Sevenhill Cellars in our Clare Valley wine tour itineraries, and it's always a highlight. Whether our clients are serious wine lovers or first-time visitors, they enjoy both the tastings and the rich cultural experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a blend of heritage and premium wines in the Clare Valley.

The venue was amazing some great history. The staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable about their wines. Worth a visit for the wines and the history of how the vineyard was established

The Seven Hills winery is steeped in tradition, established by the jesuits way back in 1851 and, true to their faith, continuing to this day, making premium wines and topaques. The staff were very friendly and gave me much needed water on my arrival by bicycle after following the famous Clare valley Riesling trail. I was lucky to try a bottle of the Saint Ignatius, an exceptionally smooth and complex blend of Cab sav, Merlot, Malbec and Cab franc. Being on a bicycle I could only leave with one bottle but I savoured every drop!

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Sevenhill Cellars located in Clare Valley this weekend and our experience with Annika and Matt was great. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality that made us feel like old friends rather than guests. They have a natural gift for creating a comfortable and engaging atmosphere. This was my first wine tasting experience in South Australia. We were able to taste a total of ten wines from the inigo [$10]and premium [$30] range along with a platter. We could share our wines within the group, which is great! Apart from the cellar, sevenhills has plenty to offer in terms of space for outdoor wine tasting, family picnics, bicycle trails, the old Jesuit church with its basement crypt. Thank you, Annika and Matt, for such a beautiful experience. We will see you again!

A great gaol to visit. Not only was it built way back but it only closed down in the 1970s. 3 big cell block wings and a smaller one out back. This gaol gives you a glimpse in life behind bars through a 100 odd years. Love the artifacts found on site along with period clothing. Well worth the look. Make sure you have more then an hour to spend here as it is worth it. Why not take the stairs up the tower to get a birds eye view of the whole jail. And if you want to stay here why not arrange accommodation with the jail and spend a night or 2. Bring a jacket as it is quite cool inside.

This place is amazing my children loved going there and staying over night facilities are good the showers although separate from the goal are better than those at home hot and powerful. This needs to be opened again the story of no caretakers isn't true there was willing volunteers but others bitter about not being selected for the role saying things that resulted in the current caretakers being asked to leave. More hassle than the council was willing to deal with unfortunately.

Stayed a night there... nice clean place... $40pp for touring and staying in the cell. Stayed there with group of friends abd eaxh if us got our own cell to lick in ourselves.. There is full kitchen facility including bbq microwave and fridge. There is a shop also inside where they sell clothes and toys.. Toilets are clean. At night time the place gets very spooky which is good! Our tour guide was really friendly abd we get to know the history behind the gladstone gaol, which was pretty full on Overall we had a great experience and keen to visit there again

These gardens are a credit to Whyalla, and a wonderful place to spend some time. They even have some large aviarys with Cockatiels, Parrots, Galahs and Cockatoos. I'd get rid of the pine trees and replace them with Australian natives though. Go and check it out, you'll love it.🕊

Magnificent trees in a well set out garden area. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the gardens admiring the flowers and trees and then we came across the big bird Avery in the middle of the gardens. It was so nice checking out the different birds- some we heard speak! Lots of shade if weather is hot. Situated next to children’s playground and right near the beach. We made a day of it.

Stunning view of the natural beauty of Whyalla & environs, starkly contrasting with the industrial detritus of a former glory. I was particularly struck by the scale of Spencer Gulf, which looks like a triangular sliver of water on a map, but is actually the vast ocean!
Den O — Google review
Overlooking the Spencer Gulf and City of Whyalla, Hummock Hill was the site of the first European settlement at the turn of the twentieth century. During World War Two it serviced as a gun battery and observation post, development of the lookout utilised the old gun emplacements that can still be seen today. It is an important Aboriginal site. A one-way sealed road takes vehicles to the top of the hill. Hummock Hill is also a part of the City Walk Centenary Trail. City Walk Centenary Trail includes Hummock Hill lookout and all interpretive signs along the way.

Again, a terrific spot to take in the views, particularly at night when the circular Jetty can be seen in all its glory. Casual drive to the top, with plenty of parking when we were there. Some of it is needing a bit of TLC when the local shire can allocate funds, but well worth the visit. Wheelchair access not an issue, but there are a couple of steps here and there, so some assistance may perhaps be needed.

Magnificent views of the steel mill and the unique jetty from this point. There are also signs erected that explain the steel mill as well as other things of historical significance. Well worth the visit.

Great views of the town and harbour side. Pretty steep hill up but still managed to tow the caravan up. There's not a huge amount of parking up the top, so be aware of this. I like the fact that it's a one-way road and there is a separate lane for pedestrians, who seem to make good use of it.

You can see beautiful sea from the lookout. Lovely experience in Whyalla. More relaxing 😎 and quiet area. Awesome 🥂

Whyalla Maritime Museum

Museum
Maritime museum
Military Museums
I recently took the kids and my wife to see the maritime museum. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, with plenty of things to look at for everyone. You have guided tours of the HMAS Whyalla, a Corvette Class minesweeper that you can wander through, and get all the history from the guides. We had Liz, and she was great, with adults and kids alike. They were trialling a kids treasure hunt when we went, so my 2 boys, both 9 years old, got to find different symbols scattered along the tour and into the museum area itself. Once in the museum building, you are treated to various rooms with different displays, including scale models of the ships that were built in Whyalla. An aboriginal cultural room with local indigenous artifacts. A second World War area, showing some of the uniforms that they wore, plus information about the crews that manned the minesweepers built in Whyalla. Finally, you are treated to a railway model setting that shows the journey from the mines in the Middleback Ranges, right through to the Whyalla Steelworks area. Well worth a visit.

There were 5 of us - two children and four adults and we all loved it. We had missed the tour of the Whyalla but Madeleine (Maddy) offered us a tour as we weren’t going to be there the next day. The tour was well worth doing, the Museum terrific and the grounds very well set out. We would highly recommend and thank you Maddy!

Nice place to visit in Whyalla. It’s about armed ship 🚢 used in military purposes. Nice history explaining by guide in the museum. Charging around $35 per head. Inside was informative and curious. Nice experience 😍

When i visited 21 August i checked the website first as the tours are only certain times. I booked the day before on the site but at the time of visit the ship was closed for maintanence, the website does let you know. You can do a virtual tour, so for any place best to check ahead to make sure of times etc. I have visited before here. But it's always nice for a look. The staff are very friendly. Very informative and helpful. And a good selection of souvenirs. I do love the museum here to as you can find really interesting stuff here about the ship and of other things. You'll need to come here to find out more.

The tour of the ship was a standout of our trip to Whyalla. We booked a tour on a whim when our cuttlefish snorkel was pushed back a day and our guide Madelyn really brought the ship and its history to life. Amazing to think of the sailors living conditions in the cramped quarters and the wonderful work that the ship did locating and detonating mines during the war.

Great place for a visit the museum is cool and the trains are great. The best thing is the boat tour really great info and a good idea of what sea life was like.

Rod was a great guide for the ship tour, he was passionate about the ship and the connection it had with Whyalla. It was good to see how life was on board the WW2 vessel. The tours run at 11:30 am and 01:30pm from the info centre and run for 45- 60 minutes, you may need to book ahead as there was only 10 spots available with people waiting. You can visit the maritime museum afterwards with well maintained grounds.

If you have the chance to go on the tour of the ship Whyalla I recommend it. Tour guide was very informative. Loved the experience of walking through this ship and learning a piece of our history.

Over The Edge in Melrose is an absolute gem! Rich and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to help and super informative about the trails. They gave me some fantastic recommendations for both mountain biking and hiking during my stay. The cafe is equally wonderful- so welcoming, with delicious food that just adds to the great experience! Can’t wait to go back when it’s cooler, as the warmth and the pesky flies made it a bit challenging this time. 10 of 10 for Over The Edge’s service, friendliness, and the amazing riding conditions in Melrose!!

Worth the 360km round trip for this cafe alone. One of the best coffee’s I’ve ever had - thank YOU! Rustic and cosy, did not want to leave. Loved the subtle yet tasteful Flinders Ranges decor and unique, local produce. Melrose, the town its self, and Over The Edge is such a hidden gem!

We stayed 2 nights in Melrose for some hiking and visited here for breakfast both mornings. The food is next level fantastic!! I wish we could’ve stayed longer as I’d like to try everything on the menu. Possibly the best brekky I’ve ever had. Great service too and ambience.

Well tickle me pink, if this isn’t the best thing since Super Elliots cycles in Adelaide, a fully sick bike shop and a cafe/coffee shop/ bike repair shop, offering around 100km of trails mostly single track and various skill levels for people of all walks of life and daredevilnes, Also with tours with bikes to hire that are more than just a cheap Kmart ride, this place is absolutely fantastic. As for the cafe side of things great stuff, great people and great prices

While on a road trip with my boyfriend, we stopped at this café to grab a coffee and a meal. Great place, good music, very friendly staff, and the food and coffee were delicious. I highly recommend stopping here!

Popped in to the Cafe at Over the Edge Sports today for a quick lunch on our way back to Adelaide after visiting Parachilna for the night. Pleasantly surprised by this cafe and associated bike sales / hire / service shop... A unique combination and a very popular one at that..! Staff were friendly and attentive, the decor was clean and comfortable, my toasted ham and cheese and tomato relish sandwich was fresh and tasty and our coffees - extra hot almond cappuccino and iced almond cappuccino - were on point. I took a quick look in the adjacent bike shop and there's everything there that a keen cyclist - especially mountain bikers - needs from sales to servicing... Good work Over the Edge Sports!! See you again on our next trip!!

The best coffee, lovely and tasty. Friendly staff. Hubs had a large caramel slice which he finished off with a big smile! I had a bliss ball!! Fire roaring. Nice place to hang out for a while. Food being served looked lovely, but we just wanted a coffee stop. Perfect. 10/10.
