A lovely spot to unwind! Surrounded by green fields with lots of birdlike. Great shower and toilet facilities. Shop and Cafe a must to visit and plenty of wood for the firepits! Easy access to all that Stanthorpe and surrounds offers. We will be back!

Beautiful drive to get here. A bit of a shop and can buy a coffee & snacks plus lavender products of course. The lady and her granddaughter were great to chat to. There is an area to park your camper/caravan which would be nice and quiet.

Lovely place to stop. They have home produced products. Although we didn't indulge the scones and icecream looked delicious!
Siouxsie Q — Google review
Very friendly host and staff!! Great shower and toilet facilities. I would recommend this place to people who wants to relax and enjoy the calmness of nature without the hassel of bring, setting up, and packing away own shower/toilet facilities. They also have nice fire pits you can use and free suply of firewoods! I would also like to share my experience here: The battery went dead for me car on the first night during my stay there. As Mick started the day and drove by my camp, he greeted me and asked how I was going for the first night. I told him that my battery had died and that I might have to ring the road site assistance to come and change my batter for me. Mick kindly helped me checked the status of my battery and jumped started my car. He recommended me to go to Stenthorpe to buy a new battery and offered to swap it for me; what a wonderful guy! I eventually drove to Warwick to find a Supercheap Auto to sort out my battery since I wanted to visit some places and needed to get some supplies anyway. Overall, the 5-day stay experience is exerllent. Highly recommended!!

In my honest opion I have more lavender in my pot puri in my dunny. This place is a complete waste of time and not worth the diversion off the highway. The most exciting thing about this place is avoiding the the pot holes on the driveway.
Drewe M — Google review
We camped here over the Easter break. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the grounds were well maintained. There is a toilet and shower block within a minute or so walk of the farthest camping site. Only missing a communal camp kitchen, however at the price point it is and considering how much room we had available to us, it was well worth not having that amenity. There wasn't a small designated space and we felt far enough away from other campers.
Troy P — Google review
We were greeted by a lovely elderly lady at the door. That was lovely. The gift shop was cute. I loved their Aprons and bought Lavender earl grey tea. It is so nice to sip at night and relax. Thankyou for this brew. Will visit again 😊
Mandy — Google review
A lovely cafe and gift shop tucked away in the countryside. The scones were delicious. Prices were very reasonable for a family run business. Had a homely feel with a cat and dog roaming around and the owner is always up for a chat!

Hiking trails through granite boulder clusters & eucalyptus forest, with summit views of Queensland.
Wow, walking to the top of bald rock is an amazing experience, one of the best hikes I've ever done, amazing, 360 degrees and not a house in sight! Beautiful!
Mandy C — Google review
Amazing granite boulders and views. Took the "easier" slower Bungoona walk up to the Summit - then the very steep but quick descent back down the granite wall. Challenging on the knees but doable.
Lisa W — Google review
A beautiful walk, the grade 5 bit is very steep. I recommend sturdy boots with good grip. Wattle was out and the little purple flowers too. Gorgeous! Track is well maintained.
Caitlin M — Google review
Making our way along the various tracks in Girraween NP was amazing. I've never hiked in the Granite Belt before and the more we elevated it offered more discoveries and eventually an incredible view...what I loved the most was sitting amongst the 🐝 Spring was alive and the weather truly beautifully 🌎⛰️🧭🥾😎
Barb S — Google review
Very pleasant place and adventurous. You need to go on a clear day where there is no chance of rain. We need to come back from the mid because of rain. Nice place to go with family and fried
Shiva S — Google review
Fantastic walk. Take the long way around - the Bungoona walk, either up or down for impressive granite boulders and cave like walk-throughs. The summit is spectacular. A great place to rest and take in the views before the descent.
Adrian N — Google review
Did the base walk. Easy to push wheelchair (gravelly path) up to the base then there's a few rocky steps up to actual rock base.
Meg C — Google review
What an awe-inspiring little hike; I totally loved this! You can be bold and brave and head straight up the rock face or you can take the gentle route to the Summit via the Bungoona track. Either way the views are simply stunning. About 3km in total. Truly, it's nature at her best. Easily accessible via the New England Highway and ample parking with toilets and picnic facilities.

Girraween National Park

Nature & Parks
Nestled just 40 kilometers south of Stanthorpe, Girraween National Park is a breathtaking destination that truly lives up to its name, which means 'Place of Flowers.' This stunning park showcases an array of unique rock formations, including the famous Granite Arch and Balancing Rock. With its hilly terrain and diverse ecosystems, it offers a variety of hiking trails suitable for all levels.
Great place, and could be a church to those you love nature. The hikes here are great for kids and those less experienced. Or those who don't like a whole day in the bush. Close to civilisation and will give those new to hills a good scramble experience with limited exposure yet some nice views. Some exposed cliff edges where sections of wet scree could see the heart race with a slip and fall so need to be mindful of your skill level.
I,M&H M — Google review
Recently walked to granite arch and the junction. Beautiful and easy walks with so many lovely native plants to enjoy. The creeks were running high which was nice. While headed first toward the pyramids, I knew I didn’t want to do that walk having done it a couple of times in the past I wasn’t keen to scramble up a granite rock. While other enjoyed the challenge a smaller group broke off to enjoy a more leisurely walk. Great signage at the start of the walk making it easy to plan your walk.
Morgana P — Google review
Gorgeous natural park. We stayed at Girraween National Park for a couple of nights to explore the area. What a quiet, beautiful, peaceful place to camp! Clean camping areas with amenities blocks. We did the walk around the park. And explored surrounding areas. Stunning sunsets at night to sit back and enjoy.
Susan H — Google review
Ticketed off the bucket list Friendly park ranger, well looked after and great tracks. Loads of signs for ease when walking. The main attraction for me was the pyramid to balancing rock and it was awesome Make sure you have great shoes with grip and aren’t scared of heights.
Toni C — Google review
The Pyramids is an insane hike. Not for the faint hearted. The stairs are never ending and then its on to the steep rock face climb. Its very challenging but so rewarding! (If you're a fitness fanatic you'll be fine) its do-able for moderate fitness level but its tough. Plenty of areas to stop to catch your breath though. View at the top is absolutely amazing. Don't attempt this if your scared of heights.
Zoe S — Google review
Beautiful national park with great camping areas for caravans ,tents etc . Lots of birdlike and kangaroos and wallaby. Amazing scenery, walks , waterways and swimming. Lovely in spring with the wildflowers.
Wendy H — Google review
There is so much to see here. Great bush walks, both for easy or hard. Rock formations are incredible to see. Beautiful scenery and water holes. Cold in winter. Short drive from Stanthorpe. Heaps of parking and good directions to walking tracks.
Andrew B — Google review
Me and my throuple loved Girraween. There are plenty of moderate walks with amazing views. Some of the boulder formations are truly mind boggling. I just wish the visitor centre had a water fountain.

I visited Golden Grove Estate for a wine tasting on a Sunday afternoon and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The tasting was well-paced, and I appreciated the informative delivery of details about the wine, grapes, and processing techniques. All inquiries regarding the wines were warmly received and answered. I particularly loved the muscat among all the wines tasted as they were all skillfully balanced and refined. I will definitely make it a point to visit this winery again during my next trip to Stanthorpe.
Absolute highlight of our Stanthorpe trip. Beautiful location, stunning views from the outside tables and the most delicious, generous platter for two for $30. It helps that my wife also likes their wines, especially the 'Old Vine Shiraz'
Owen D — Google review
An absolutely amazing experience. We went for an afternoon wine tasting and the scenery and wine were both amazing. We had the most fantastic server named Joel. He shared his passion for wine making and made us all feel comfortable and welcome. We all chose this experience as our highlight of our trip, we will definitely be coming back and requesting Joel as our wine server!
Katie R — Google review
This winery was recommended by the owner of a coffee shop in Stanthorpe. We only had time to visit a few wineries. So glad we visited here. An authentic family run winery. We were hosted by Ray the wine maker and 3rd generation family member. Sampled 6 beautiful wines with passionate knowledgeable descriptions from Ray. Sitting outside in their gardens, looking over the vines and mountains in the background. I would find myself drifting into memories of drinking wine in Tuscany. What a great experience. Grab some bottles of wine to go packed with wonderful memories of a passionate family ran winery. A must visit.
Scott K — Google review
Some lovely wines and gorgeous atmosphere. The plater was generous and the fire nice and toasty! Such a delightful winery 🙏🏽
Joshua O — Google review
We had a fantastic wine tasting; the two of us going through a shared tasting of six wines from their current list. All of them were first rate (88-92 on my 100-point scale), with the Shiraz/Durif blend and Durif (Petite Sirah in the US) really standing out. After a large group left, we had a great conversation with Grace and Sam; very friendly and welcoming folks. We liked the wines so much, we went back the day we left Ballandean and bought a few more bottles! Tasting costs $10, but waived on wine purchase. Really reminded me of small California wineries that my father used to go to when I was young (1970-80s); family run wineries where one tastes and decides whether or not to buy their product, rather than being mostly a "tourism enterprise".
Todd J — Google review
Ray and co / team (young apprentice that we didn't catch the name of sorry!) - amazing wines, so much knowledge / chat and such a great experience. Would highly recommend! So glad we got to experience Golden Grove.
Sarah L — Google review
The review following was from our visit in 2024. We were so impressed we came back again in July 2025 and the 2024 review is still applicable. A great afternoon. Very interesting wines including some made with grapes not so well known in Australia but coming from Sicily are well adapted to the changing climate. Our tasting was conducted by winemaker Ray and was highly informative and engaging. A generous sized, shared platter of food, complemented the wines. All in all, a most enjoyable afternoon. Highly recommended.
Paul M — Google review
An amazing time today with my husband Colin and our niece Kaileen. A great discussion about trials and tribulations of grape growing with the winemaker. Highly recommend Golden Grove Wineyard.

Absolutely beautiful wine tasting experience and lunch platter. Food was delicious. Ambience is gorgeous. This is the oldest winery in the region, 5 generations, the sisters were so friendly and made the experience wonderful. Highly recommend!
Mandy C — Google review
Fantastic wine tasting with a very knowledgeable host who walked us through many of the rarer 'Strange Bird' varieties unique to the Region. Beautiful selection of whites and reds - my friends bought 4 bottles to go!
Angela C — Google review
Ballandean Estate Wines is Queensland’s oldest family-owned winery! We visited for wine tasting and it was very good, their wines are top notch 🍷and the young guy did an excellent wine tasting presentation. The sparkling and Saperavi were some of my favourites. There is so many cool things to do and see in the Granite Belt region and this Winery should be on your list. We look forward to returning 😁
Andrew N — Google review
Thank you Lizzy for your great customer service. Your knowledge on the wines we tasted was fantastic. The platter you made up for us was just amazing. We will definitely be back.
Darren B — Google review
Fantastic wine-tasting experience. We showed up without an appointment and they were quite busy. Nevertheless, their customer service was impeccable. We tried quite a few wines we hadn’t heard of before (strange birds) and bought quite a bit. Amazing how much good service makes a difference.
Gabe C — Google review
Lovely wine tasting experience. Very popular winery. Staff member was friendly and knowledgeable but busy trying to manage 3 wine tasting groups at the same time. Grazing platter options available. Toilets on site and parking available.
JazzGee — Google review
Came here for the wine toasting and charcuterie board (pre-ordering is recommended). Was not disappointed and could absolutely not fault a single thing on the board. As we came in midweek it was quiet so the ladies were more than happy to have a chat and let us know which different brands of salami, Prosecco, condiments and cheeses were on the board. We had our own choice of four wine tastings, and I actually bought all 4 bottles. Could not fault the wines. The decor was awesome with wine barrels and cosy seating. Fabulous experience and well worth the money because the quality was exceptional.
Rom S — Google review

How wonderful to be able to visit the saddlery from the song, I found it very nostalgic, with great historical records and trinkets. The fella there was very nice, too. A great experience, I just wish I could have bought a little leather keyring or something small to remember it by 😊

Barbara who works there gave us really interesting insights into the building, the museum and some local history. She was quite knowledgeable and patient and warm, which we really appreciated. The hall where we were supposed to hear Sit Parkes’ speech didn’t work well - the speech was playing intermittently, you hear two sentences then there is silence of a few minutes then another sentence or two.

Am sure the people at the centre do a great job however our sole purpose for overnighting in Tenterfield was to visit the Saddlery. We arrived on advertised hours and unfortunately it was closed. Feel perhaps if this happens, maybe someone from the Centre could open. After all, majority of people visiting from afar, do so because of the Saddlery history, thanks to Peter Allen.

The Tenterfield region offers a variety of attractions, including the impressive Bald Rock National Park, Boonoo Boonoo Falls, and award-winning wineries. The Tenterfield Railway Museum, situated at the town's western edge on Railway Avenue, dates back to 1886 when the railway line first reached Tenterfield. The museum complex comprises the station, station master's residence, goods shed, barracks, railway yard and signalling equipment.
It's surprisingly good with lots of hands-on experiences! Even if you're not a fan of trains or things mechanical, you'll get a great feel for the history of the area and Australia. Plan on 2 hours to see it all. Lots of friendly volunteers to answer your questions. Donations of $8 per person or more help fund this local treasure!

Spent about 2.5hrs having a really good look around and reading about all of the history involved. Highly recommend seeing the great work that the volunteers do to restore and maintain the displays. Could easily spend more time there.

Fabulous and affordable little railway museum with some interesting displays and historical information regarding past railway activities in the region. Very interactive and engaging. Kindly run and cared for by a wonderful group of volunteers selflessly giving their time and skillset to this little museum.

Very helpful & informative staff who took the time to explain all that the Museum offered. Its a wonderful historical snapshot & all who have been involved should be proud of their work. The Dog Box restoration is a fantastic example of the challenges the volunteers have faced. A personal discovery was finding a manufacture plate from the Chullora Per Way Workshops - where my father worked for 44 years.

The first visit to Glenlyon Dam showcases a delightful lunch from the kiosk, followed by a drive down to the water level. Although currently at only 4% capacity, it is reported that ten Murray Cod were caught on the day. This makes it an ideal location for picnics, camping, caravanning, fishing or simply exploring. Witnessing the dam at full capacity would undoubtedly be a magnificent sight worth experiencing firsthand.
The park is really nice and Debbie that runs it is very knowledgeable and accommadating. Hot showers and great Cafe. Easy access to the boat ramp and lots of tree coverage. We enjoyed our stay.

Only did a day visit but it looked like a great park with a well stocked shop. Dam looks great and obviously his fishing from all the photos on display
Joanne J — Google review
This is our first time to this dam and we stayed 7 nights on a powered site. There is no dump however you can use the parks toilets (well maintained). Plenty of wild life around the park, kangaroos, goats and birds. Every site has its own fire pit and there is plenty of firewood supplied. If you love fishing there is plenty of that also.
Debra M — Google review
Our first time to Glenlyon Dam. We had a great lunch from the kiosk, then drove down to water level. It is only 4% capacity at the moment, but heard a local man say 10 Murray Cod were caught today. So great place to picnic, camp, caravan, fish or just come for a look. It would be fantastic to see it when it is full. Come and see for yourself!!

Best suited to fisherman but very nice in general with speckled views over the dam from most sites. Lot's of kangaroos, goats and some interesting Birdlife. Huge cod at the dam wall at certain times of the year. Peaceful and generally quiet.

Emmaville Mining Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
What an excellent museum and collection of minerals. This museum is a credit to the town and people and for a $2 donation, it’s worth every cent. So much to read about this area from the 1800s to present day. Even better, our dogs were also welcomed inside. What a great few hours we had.
Lisa K — Google review
An absolutely awesome museum! From sparkling minerals and military displays to old history, photographs, and more – there’s something fascinating around every corner. It’s a bit like the TARDIS: it looks small from the outside but once you step in, it just keeps going with hidden rooms and surprises. A must-visit for anyone passing through Emmaville!
Steven G — Google review
The most amazing collection I have seen for a long time. A $2 entry and it is run by volunteers with affordable pieces for sale. If you like rocks this is a must see.
Deb G — Google review
First time there a couple of weeks back. I have never been into a museum like this one! There are so many gems and minerals! They have one of the best most beautiful collection I have ever seen. The staff there are kind and love to answer questions too! So much knowledge. Will not disappoint!

$2 coin donation. Massive collection of gems and stones plus others sheds dedicated to historical Australia. Very cool the way this friendly town has pooled their collective history together.
Amy G — Google review
This museum was so much more than just a mining museum. Although it had an extensive collection of rocks and crystals it also houses a breathtaking recollection of the families of the area. A trip outside to the small village takes one around a saddlery, a dressmaker, a bakery and a machinery shed. Don’t be fooled by this museum’s humble outside it’s well worth the trip.
Kimberly B — Google review
If you’re ever in the area you need to stop in to Walk through this amazing museum looks are so deceiving it looks small but it goes on forever. An amazing array of gemstones. This little town Emmaville has so much history the volunteers that run the museum have put an amazing lot of artifacts from the mining era together. If you will really want to read everything you will need at least 2 to 3 days to go through everything. An Entry fee of $2 you will be blown away with what you can see and learn about this amazing little town.

This is a fantastic place and worth a visit. There are lots of tables around for picnics and plenty of room for dogs and travellers with caravans etc There is a beautiful walkway just above to walk around and view the town and surrounds. However the best part is the Crafters Cottage onsite with the best coffee in the area. The barista there is Thai and a fantastic artist with her designs on the top of each coffee. There is a nice fireplace inside the cafe and lots of outdoor sitting areas if you have a dog with you. The new playground equipment for kids is excellent and there are plenty of new toilets The cafe is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Of course the Standing Stones are a huge highlight. Whilst in town, don’t forget Sweaties Pies, which are renowned to be the best anywhere. The coffee downtown is generally very ordinary.

Fab place to visit and I was really touched that the Celtic peoples who settled here bringing their knowledge and skills have been honoured and memorialised is such a manner. It’s definitely worth a visit. I was particular fascinated that the sun dial told the time perfectly 👌

Amazing monument to the early settlers of the area. Created in 1991/92, the Australian Standing Stones in Glen Innes Highlands is the national monument to Celtic people, past and present. The Stones acknowledge the contribution to Australian culture made by people from the Celtic nations of Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, Wales, the Isle of Man and Brittany.

Called in this morning to get some advice on things to do in Glen Innes during our stay. The man behind the counter did not look up from his computer, did not offer a greeting or acknowledge I'd come into the centre. I eventually said good morning so he definitely knew I was looking around. I gathered what info I could from the pamphlets and left. Still no offer of assistance from the man sitting behind the counter. Not a great introduction to this lovely town.

You can't pick your own strawberries here, but they have trays of various sizes to choose from in the store. Strawberries are large and flavoursome. Lots of local products and various gifts are available in the store as well as many options such as cake, cream, and ice cream to eat with their fresh strawberries or shakes to drink.

Extremely delicious, very rich. We shared a large strawberry shake ( it was a generous large) and a strawberry and cream scone which was a very slightly stale but otherwise good. We couldn't finish the shake, it was super sweet and we were all sugared out - but it was great and would order it again for sure!

Loved this little roadside store/cafe/gift shop. Had fresh strawberries in three size options plus strawberry pancakes, shakes etc. Had a fantastic variety of jams, vinegars, chutnies, sauces, soaps, gifts etc Also had a small amount of clothing outside. Outside toilet facilities simple but clean and presentable. Inside seating for eating. Parking was fine.

Always stop in here over the years for a freshly made strawberry milkshake, and this visit will keep us coming back. Very efficient service, lovely friendly new ? owners and still the most delicious real strawberry milkshake ever. The large size each filled us for lunch, but the food being delivered to other customers looked good.

Amazing!! I visited for the first time from the Gold Coast with my two daughters and mother Just before Christmas.. we stayed in a deluxe Cabin for 4 Nights and it was excellent! Incredibly friendly, family owned and operated park. I would highly recommend visiting Green Valley Farm if you have not been before. Especially if you want to escape the city and enjoy a country style Theme park with loads of Animals, Rides and Slides and best of all enjoy the friendly and welcoming reception from all the staff working there.. we loved it that much we will be returning again soon. Thanks again Cathy and team 😊

Green valley farm is such a special place - you’ll only really understand the magic once you’ve gone! Family owned and run, this place is a hidden little gem in such a beautiful location! There is the option to either camp or stay in a cabin (air conditioned/heated), the scenery is pure Australian bush, the park has its own little cafe that makes the best thick shakes!, a cute little farm experience with animals, and lots of little rides around the park. The entire vibe of the place really emphasises good old fashion innocent family fun. My family have been going for 20 years and will continue to go for another 20
Hannah S — Google review
Loved the museum so much diversity and a cool layout, somthing for everyones interests also free access before park at a friendly $15. The park has a great assortment of quality old style ride equipment, that even teenagers can enjoy. And variety of animals to see and feed.
Alexandra W — Google review
We stayed at Green Valley Farm over the long weekend and had a fantastic time from start to finish. Right from our first communication, Kathy went out of her way to accommodate our large family and make sure everything was perfect for us. The farm itself is absolutely beautiful, and with five kids, we were never short of things to do. The holiday cabin was small but felt surprisingly spacious and comfortable, with a kitchen that had just what we needed without feeling cluttered. All the staff were lovely and so friendly — it really made the stay extra special. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to provide a little map or guide around the property. On our first day, we weren’t quite sure where everything was, and we didn’t realise we could walk through the “private area” to see the animals until we saw others doing it. The prices throughout the farm were fantastic, too. Even the coffee was reasonably priced — standard prices, not inflated like you sometimes find at holiday spots. We would absolutely love to return one day and do it all over again!

It was cool, it was quirky and I love the history and story of GVF & how it's all family ran. We camped for 3 nights but I feel as though there just weren't enough amenities for all the campers & powered sites were a bit on top of each other. My 17 & 15yos weren't allowed to supervise my 10yo while I prepped lunch and dinner & nursed an injured foot but the teens were allowed at enter on their own. The kiosk food was the BEST takeaway we've eaten in a long time. As a family we rate GVF 3 out of 5 stars.

What a fabulous and interesting place ! If You are anywhere even remotely near the Township of Tingha, make the trip to visit. Really worth your time to experience and explore this eclectic museum. Step back in time and see how Australians used to work, shop and live. The volunteers are super friendly and a wealth of information and knowledge. The $4 admission price, would be the best value for money going around.

One of those quirky, eclectic, interesting, local museums that can be found in small towns. Free camping. Close to the shops and cafes of Guyra and a lovely walk around the reserve. You are very close the the bowling club with two local supermarkets in town to stock up. Toilets and pump out available. Go check out the old station which has been kept fresh and the museum too. Currently the Lagoon is chockers with bird life now the Lagoon is full of water again. Come check it out especially at golden hour for all you budding photographers and it's awesome when the most and fog roll in. Sooo good to see it wet and wild.

Wollomombi Falls Picnic Area

Picnic ground

Waterfalls
Wilderness area with bushwalking tracks, a campground, a striking waterfall & a shelter with BBQs.
Beautiful area for a stop on the way between Ebor and Armidale. great facilities with toilets, BBQ's and picnic tables. Did the 2km round trip to chandler falls lookout, was a rocky track just take it easy on the little down hill spots. One of the lookouts is only 200m from the car park so if you don't have the time for the walk you can still stop in for a quick look at the Falls.
Daniel R — Google review
Highly recommend doing the walk to Wollomonbi falls lookout! The views are wild (photos do not do them justice) 🏔️🌊 It's a very short walk from the carpark to the first lookout. The walk then continues to the base of the falls and then 2 more lookouts which are a bit further and uphill / downhill.

Pups and Park Rangers, New England National Park is a 5-Paw WOW-ZER! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ryder here, and wow-wow-wubbzy, New England National Park is PAW-SOME! Just say, "Ryder needs you, New England National Park!" and the PAW Patrol will be there - because this place is incredible! From the tippy-top of Point Lookout, the views are like, whoa! You can see everything! It's like Adventure Bay, but bigger and with even more trees! We used our pup-tags to zoom in and spot so many cool birds – bright blue ones, fluffy white ones, even some that sounded like they were laughing! Pup-tag zoom vision is the best for nature exploring! The walking tracks are super fun adventures! We hiked to waterfalls that were splash-tastic! Marshall even managed to stay dry for once (almost!). There are trails for every pup, big or small, and even some that are a bit challenging for extra adventure! Just be sure to bring your pup treats and water, Adventure Bay style! And the best part? It's full of amazing animals! We saw wallabies hopping around like they were in a bouncy castle, and so many colourful butterflies fluttering by! It's like a real-life jungle adventure, right here in New England! We even helped a little lost joey find its mum – teamwork makes the dream work! New England National Park is the perfect place for pups and people who love adventure and nature! It’s clean, it’s beautiful, and it’s got something for everyone! No job is too big, no pup is too small to have an amazing time at New England National Park! Definitely a 5-paw recommendation from Ryder and the PAW Patrol! Let’s go, go, go explore!
Jay B — Google review
We walked half way down the gorge, a pretty steep track in places, but when we got to where wanted stop, the view was spectacular
Gary G — Google review
Super easy to get to, and the views? Absolutely worth it. Just a friendly PSA for future visitors—or let’s say, a rant against the peeps that were present while we were there: this isn’t your private festival stage. Cranking EDM at 11 a.m. isn’t the vibe—people come here for tranquility, not to relive Coachella on a cliffside.

The Armidale Visitor Information Centre offers a variety of experiences for first-time visitors, including the Armidale Heritage Bus Tour that takes you on a two-hour journey through the city's history, gardens, churches, and museums. The center also provides fishing permits for those interested in watersports at the nearby dam where activities like canoeing, kayaking, and swimming can be enjoyed. Additionally, visitors can join a free bus tour starting from the center with knowledgeable guides providing insightful commentary.
The staff here were very helpful. I also did the heritage tour which was excellent and I would highly recommend. Sue, our guide, was very knowledgeable and the 3hr tour flew by. Definitely worth doing as you would not see or hear of the history of Armidale if it wasn’t for this tour. 👍👍

We went on their free heritage bus tour. Our tour guide was an older, long-term resident of Armidale. Very knowledgeable. We drove by lots of historical buildings. Most importantly, we were allowed into Booloominbah Historical Settler House in the University of New England, which is now used as an administration building at the university. This is the only way you can get into that house. Highly recommended. We gave a donation after the tour. The people inside the visitor center were also very helpful with advice.

The Armidale Visitors Centre really is a must! We were warmly greeted by Faye, who has lived in Armidale for a very long time as we found out, and who is a wealth of information in and around the area. The experience was very much like discovering treasure with what we were provided. Not just on what to see but the history as well. We were able to tailor our own touring experience with the information provided and can not thank Faye enough! I heard locally about the council possibly replacing people in the information centre with machines. I hope this never happens. We have had experiences with information machines, they never give you exactly what your looking for, they can't tell you about the treasures you might be interested in but don't know there there, or which way to go to get the maximum visits in areas depending on when they are open. Faye made it a breeze, and we will have to come back as there was far too much to do and see in one day. Thank you again for the experience, education, information, and your warm, friendly nature Faye, you are a gem!

Wow! This is a gem of an art gallery, how lucky Armidale is to have it. The Hinton collection is very impressive, featuring some of the biggest names in early 20th century Australian Art such as Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, Nora Heysen, Margaret Preston, and Ethel Spowers. I also enjoyed the temporary exhibitions. The always impressive Art Express was on display today, and a range of other contemporary Australian artists. They also were advertising a range of workshops for kids and adults running throughout the year. The cafe is lovely too, and there's a well curated gift shop for buying a souvenir or two.

Ohh Coffee is so good and the food is to die for. The food is also unique! There's variety in the menu that you don't see in many other cafes in Armidale. Love that they are open on Sundays and the outdoor seating in the sun with a beautiful view and calm surroundings

Such a lovely free regional Gallery! I visited with my sister and was greeted by the front of house staff. She was warm and welcoming. The exhibitions on show were historical, dynamic, and humorous! Displayed beautifully. Thank you for making art accessible to the regional community.

Fabulous experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibitions, and thought it was beautifully presented. A real gem. The lady who greeted me at the front desk was welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, NERAM is a real highlight and a credit to Armidale.

Nice museum with quality artwork, good ambience, and an enjoyable cafe attached for after your visit. And of course a gift shop, with interesting artifacts and prints. This visit they had an exhibit from the collection of Howard Hilton featuring very interesting paintings of Australian and International topics, a Ken Done exhibition, plus assorted contemporary works including some amazing water colours. Entrance is free, and you can make a donation by tap-and-go to support the museum. Also check out the various sculptures spread outside the museum and cafe!

Saumarez Homestead

Historical landmark
Saumarez Homestead, located near Armidale airport, is a remarkable two-story Edwardian mansion with thirty rooms. Built between 1888 and 1906, it holds historical significance as the former residence of the White family. The property encompasses 16 buildings on 10 hectares of land, including stables, a milking shed, and a blacksmith's shop.
We had a beautiful walk through the gardens for nearly an hour and then an hour tour. Definitely worth $15 each as it’s hard to see such amazing places without the dedicated work of the volunteers. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the property and its history. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it if you enjoy seeing how people lived in the past and this family was very privileged and wealthy!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Our guide was so informative and there was so much history to take in. Mary's garden was delightful too. Great place for a picnic.

Beautiful house in incredible condition. Our guides were lovely and very passionate about the house and it’s history. You must book in advance. Very worth it. Enjoyed it very much.

An interesting place, well set up for school groups I imagine. The location the original squatter who owned most of the Tablelands set up their house. It has fantastic gardens that are well maintained and the house itself is still set up as it was 100 years ago.

While the homestead could have some restoration dollars spent on it and the garden definately needs work, this is an extraordinary time capsule of a wealthy but parsimonious (read Presbyterian) family's home life. Not to be missed by any visitor to Armidale. The house is only accessible by guided 1.5 hour tour but it is worth the time and the $12.00 The White family handed it (and the 20 odd acres it sits on) over to the National Trust and left. Everything was left behind, even the spectacular silver hair brushes, books, family pictures and family Bible. Didn't have time to get down to the farming sheds but assume that is equally interesting. Don't miss it. If you want to see the gardens and farming sheds and are going for the 3.30pm tour, make sure you arrive at least an hour beforehand to do so. No time after the tour.

Only got to do the garden today, am very impressed indeed. I had a fall on a spot where water has run and made a trench. Very happy to such beautiful old plants.

The gardens at Saumarez are amazing, especially Mary's, which is maintained by Jarrod the friendly gardner. Inside the house is a time capsule full of significant historical masterpieces of its time, and Lez the property manager was a warm-hearted welcoming man with extensive knowledge. If you love exquisite antiques, ambience, bygone architecture and the highest standard of customer service, then this estate is not to be missed whilst visiting Armidale !!!

Stunning Edwardian NTrust house filled the White family's original furniture & posessions. A wonderful place where you can step back in time and learn a bit of local history from the knowledgeable tour guides. You can also wander around the extensive grounds.

So much to see, and well worth the price of admission, cool books related to the exhibits and lovely staff as well. I was expecting to spend half an hour or so here and found myself looking for nearly 2 hours! Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself curious on the local history of this area :)

This place is full of great pieces of local history. If you want to know about the Bushranger Thunderbolt demise this is the place. We found the place full of interesting pieces and spend over an hour wandering around the museum. Highly recommend.
James R — Google review
Great volunteers, wonderful display of the life and death of Captain Thunderbolt (Fred Ward). Other displays were the history of the mill and gold rush. The museum was on three floors, and it was made easier by a chair list between floors. very interesting place to visit. Allow plenty of time so much to see.Well done to all the volunteers who do a great job
Janet H — Google review
Interesting old flour mill, with lots of exhibits over two levels. It was great that they have installed chair lifts, and also provide a wheelchair, so it is totally accessible. Very nice food. And the series of paintings about Thunderbolt's last start was particularly interesting.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Wonderful display of local history, including the demise of bushranger Captain Thunderbolt, all told in an interesting and often entertaining way, a huge credit to the volunteers of Uralla. The lace collection was amazing. I would also recommend visitors to Uralla get a copy of 'Find Charm in Uralla' from the information centre and do the guided walk.

Amazing displays of days gone by.We enjoyed our time and thankyou to Anne the lady who was a very informative and friendly volunteer. Sitting in the garden under the wisteria was a relaxing time as well.Loved the artwork displayed.
Pamela E — Google review
The fire was very warm and the place is fascinating. Definitely worth at least one visit. So much history and so well presented and the storytelling on each display is very worth reading. Don't miss out.
Sandy W — Google review
I'm not usually one for museums, but this one is fabulous. The local stories are set individually in sections across three storeys of the amazing old flour mill. Just to wander through the building itself is marvellous. Story settings on aboriginal, bushranger, world war, shearing, farming, craft work, old fire engines & carts, family history themes, etc. And the cricket bat exhibit had us giggling! $5 per concession holder & it took us a very casual hour as we read the stories that interested either of us. For the bobbin lace enthusiast, there is an extensive display both on view & in large, pull out display drawers. This museum really is a credit to all the people involved - likely volunteers. So we hope younger locals value their heritage & help out.

Bit of fun for an hour of 2 to go and listen to owner and distillery Stephen and his anecdotes about Gin and his history in the film industry. The gins are pretty good, and buying by the bottle is not too badly priced for a boutique place. Walked in and didn't know what to expect but wirh a group of 10 it was a bit of fun and pretty cheap tasting prices.

Great distillery about 15 kilometres from Uralla. A great range of award winning whiskey and gins. Also a great place for a meal and a couple drinks.

Wow! This place is amazing! Went not knowing what to expect, but left with raving reviews. Tina was amazing and so knowledgeable throughout the taste testing. Then we moved on to lunch and cocktails and well…. This is where I experienced the BEST cocktail I’ve ever had in my life! And the food was to match. Not only that, but the service was next to none and learning about the story of how Dobsons came to be was just as interesting. Only wish I lived closer so I could visit regularly!

For more than five years, since my best friend Ben gifted me a bottle of Dobson's New England Dry Gin for my birthday before COVID, I have wanted to visit this beautiful distillery. It truly is a fantastic destination in the New England region. A huge thank you to Tina, who patiently and passionately introduced the entire range of gins, vodkas, and whiskies. Naturally, I had to purchase one of each gin and whisky for my collection. A special thanks to Couscous, the house cat, for entertaining my girls, allowing my wife and I to enjoy the tasting in an ultra-stylish and creative environment. We look forward to coming back towards the end of the year to restock our collection.

Gin distillery . Cool spot with great tastings. Just off the main road from Armidale - Tamworth. $2 tastings and plenty of gin variants to try. They also have a restaurant here. Parking is limited . Staff friendly. We needed up buying 3 bottles of sweet pea for $80 each. A bit novel

Great hidden gem offering gin, vodka and whiskeys that are fantastic and well explained. You can even get beers here brewed onsite but not available elsewhere - so there is something for everyone!! Make sure you book in advance for lunches because they’re often booked out - lovely view out over a green outlook. The team is great and you can buy some takeaway bottles of the best choices!

An awesome quirky place just outside of Uralla. We had a great tasting and came away with a bottle each of Gin and Whiskey. Excellent products! The restaurant looks good too...

Apsley Falls

Hiking area
Waterfalls
This place is absolutely breathtaking. The waterfall viewing platform is easily accessible and just a short walk from the car park, making it suitable for most visitors. There are plenty of parking spaces and toilet facilities available, which adds to the convenience. Once you arrive, it feels like you’ve entered a different world – peaceful, natural, and full of beauty. The drive from Port Macquarie takes about 2 hours, winding through hilly terrain and scenic bends, making the journey part of the experience. Be prepared for cold weather in winter, so dress warmly! If you’re in the area, don’t miss Tia Falls, just a 15-minute drive from here. Both spots offer fantastic photo opportunities and a chance to connect with nature.

Wow! What an amazing campground!! The gorge is astounding.. and a flush toilet for a National Park 🎉🎉 The 4 days we were there (just before Easter weekend) there wasn't enough firewood supplied which led to almost every other camping retrieving wood from the forest. Also 2/4 of the BBQ's weren't working. I did provide feedback to NSWPW and they did come to fix that the day we were leaving.

Great lookouts and walking track on the souther part of Oxley Wild River NP. The main lookout is only a few steps away from the car park, however I recommend taking the 1 hour return walk to Slate Walls Lookout, which will take you past the Apsley river on a suspension bridge, around the gorge to the lower falls.

Beautiful place, We had a great day travelling to Apsley Falls. It was a very cold day but scenery along the route from Uralla was spectacular and the falls after all the rain we had was breath taking.

Falls are amazing, rock formations on the gorge are really interesting. Well maintained walking track (Bitumen), suspension bridge, great look outs, flushing toilets. Definitely worth a visit. Good for a quick stop or 3km walk.

This for a small country town was outstanding . The choices and grade of stock better than 99% of city businesses and it's. Obvious the proprietors are hard working intelligent thoughtful fair and honest traders. Their business morals are obvious unlike in the city where lieing and cheating your clients are the Short term answers. The don't work for long so in the city u blame others and backstab and betray. It's 2 years since being in this store and my pleasant experience stays with me . 99% of my life in the city is featured by betrayal backstabbing and lies .
