Ronnie and Gretchen were the 2 ladies that were in the Information etCenter. They were very helpful and helped us route different days and different tours around the area. They had a wealth of knowledge between them and willingly shared it with us. The pamphlets given to us were a great help.

Located on Bridge Street, (New England Highway) Uralla. A Wonderful Visitor Information Centre. The Lovely Lady that helped me, was a wealth of knowledge and information of not only Uralla, but Many of the areas I had visited or was planning on visiting. A local lady with strong ties to Tingha, a beaut town I had visited and will visit again. For anyone planning to visit Uralla. I highly recommend popping into this Fabulous Visitor Centre

Uralla information centre is located on the New England Highway just within the Uralla township. It has a separate parking spaces and a small park for children with play equipments and a barbecue space. The toilets are attached to the office buildings which are open to public, but only on business days. Cool and quiet place, but there is a need for a separate toilet for people who use the playground.

The gentleman in the information centre was extremely helpful. I explained that I was there for Thunderbolt. He gave brochures, marked out maps for my husband and I. He then suggested other points of interest. Thank goodness. The Constellations of the South. Did not know about them. Just incredible. He also suggested the chapel. We want to win Lotto and live here.

Convenient location (easy walking distance to town centre), lovely space, friendly assistance and advice from Anne, lots of great information/brochures/maps for both the town and region. I am looking forward to exploring.

This place is full of great pieces of local history. If you want to know about the Bushranger Thunderbolt demise this is the place. We found the place full of interesting pieces and spend over an hour wandering around the museum. Highly recommend.

Great volunteers, wonderful display of the life and death of Captain Thunderbolt (Fred Ward). Other displays were the history of the mill and gold rush. The museum was on three floors, and it was made easier by a chair list between floors. very interesting place to visit. Allow plenty of time so much to see.Well done to all the volunteers who do a great job

Interesting old flour mill, with lots of exhibits over two levels. It was great that they have installed chair lifts, and also provide a wheelchair, so it is totally accessible. Very nice food. And the series of paintings about Thunderbolt's last start was particularly interesting.

Wonderful display of local history, including the demise of bushranger Captain Thunderbolt, all told in an interesting and often entertaining way, a huge credit to the volunteers of Uralla. The lace collection was amazing. I would also recommend visitors to Uralla get a copy of 'Find Charm in Uralla' from the information centre and do the guided walk.

Amazing displays of days gone by.We enjoyed our time and thankyou to Anne the lady who was a very informative and friendly volunteer. Sitting in the garden under the wisteria was a relaxing time as well.Loved the artwork displayed.

The fire was very warm and the place is fascinating. Definitely worth at least one visit. So much history and so well presented and the storytelling on each display is very worth reading. Don't miss out.

I'm not usually one for museums, but this one is fabulous. The local stories are set individually in sections across three storeys of the amazing old flour mill. Just to wander through the building itself is marvellous. Story settings on aboriginal, bushranger, world war, shearing, farming, craft work, old fire engines & carts, family history themes, etc. And the cricket bat exhibit had us giggling! $5 per concession holder & it took us a very casual hour as we read the stories that interested either of us. For the bobbin lace enthusiast, there is an extensive display both on view & in large, pull out display drawers. This museum really is a credit to all the people involved - likely volunteers. So we hope younger locals value their heritage & help out.

Beautiful house in incredible condition. Our guides were lovely and very passionate about the house and it’s history. You must book in advance. Very worth it. Enjoyed it very much.

An interesting place, well set up for school groups I imagine. The location the original squatter who owned most of the Tablelands set up their house. It has fantastic gardens that are well maintained and the house itself is still set up as it was 100 years ago.

While the homestead could have some restoration dollars spent on it and the garden definately needs work, this is an extraordinary time capsule of a wealthy but parsimonious (read Presbyterian) family's home life. Not to be missed by any visitor to Armidale. The house is only accessible by guided 1.5 hour tour but it is worth the time and the $12.00 The White family handed it (and the 20 odd acres it sits on) over to the National Trust and left. Everything was left behind, even the spectacular silver hair brushes, books, family pictures and family Bible. Didn't have time to get down to the farming sheds but assume that is equally interesting. Don't miss it. If you want to see the gardens and farming sheds and are going for the 3.30pm tour, make sure you arrive at least an hour beforehand to do so. No time after the tour.

Only got to do the garden today, am very impressed indeed. I had a fall on a spot where water has run and made a trench. Very happy to such beautiful old plants.

The gardens at Saumarez are amazing, especially Mary's, which is maintained by Jarrod the friendly gardner. Inside the house is a time capsule full of significant historical masterpieces of its time, and Lez the property manager was a warm-hearted welcoming man with extensive knowledge. If you love exquisite antiques, ambience, bygone architecture and the highest standard of customer service, then this estate is not to be missed whilst visiting Armidale !!!

Stunning Edwardian NTrust house filled the White family's original furniture & posessions. A wonderful place where you can step back in time and learn a bit of local history from the knowledgeable tour guides. You can also wander around the extensive grounds.

Great distillery about 15 kilometres from Uralla. A great range of award winning whiskey and gins. Also a great place for a meal and a couple drinks.

Wow! This place is amazing! Went not knowing what to expect, but left with raving reviews. Tina was amazing and so knowledgeable throughout the taste testing. Then we moved on to lunch and cocktails and well…. This is where I experienced the BEST cocktail I’ve ever had in my life! And the food was to match. Not only that, but the service was next to none and learning about the story of how Dobsons came to be was just as interesting. Only wish I lived closer so I could visit regularly!

For more than five years, since my best friend Ben gifted me a bottle of Dobson's New England Dry Gin for my birthday before COVID, I have wanted to visit this beautiful distillery. It truly is a fantastic destination in the New England region. A huge thank you to Tina, who patiently and passionately introduced the entire range of gins, vodkas, and whiskies. Naturally, I had to purchase one of each gin and whisky for my collection. A special thanks to Couscous, the house cat, for entertaining my girls, allowing my wife and I to enjoy the tasting in an ultra-stylish and creative environment. We look forward to coming back towards the end of the year to restock our collection.

Best way to spend Easter Sunday!!! We have never done a tasting and had no idea what to expect, but this was awesome Steven was awesome with his passion knowledge and stories as where Lyn and his staff and the Gin was next level. An we left with a small haul of products, And the distillery cat was a real cutie.

Gin distillery . Cool spot with great tastings. Just off the main road from Armidale - Tamworth. $2 tastings and plenty of gin variants to try. They also have a restaurant here. Parking is limited . Staff friendly. We needed up buying 3 bottles of sweet pea for $80 each. A bit novel

Great hidden gem offering gin, vodka and whiskeys that are fantastic and well explained. You can even get beers here brewed onsite but not available elsewhere - so there is something for everyone!! Make sure you book in advance for lunches because they’re often booked out - lovely view out over a green outlook. The team is great and you can buy some takeaway bottles of the best choices!

An awesome quirky place just outside of Uralla. We had a great tasting and came away with a bottle each of Gin and Whiskey. Excellent products! The restaurant looks good too...

My first stop in Armidale was the information centre— lots of local information and friendly advice about the region and roads. Plenty of parking too. Next to fuel & food. Clean toilets, BBQ, kids playground nearby.

We went on their free heritage bus tour. Our tour guide was an older, long-term resident of Armidale. Very knowledgeable. We drove by lots of historical buildings. Most importantly, we were allowed into Booloominbah Historical Settler House in the University of New England, which is now used as an administration building at the university. This is the only way you can get into that house. Highly recommended. We gave a donation after the tour. The people inside the visitor center were also very helpful with advice.

We had a fantastic experience with staff here, we had a very passionate man (?Ethel) who explained the town and surrounds with such excitement that it got us excited to explore. What a great asset he is to the info centre!

The Armidale Visitors Centre really is a must! We were warmly greeted by Faye, who has lived in Armidale for a very long time as we found out, and who is a wealth of information in and around the area. The experience was very much like discovering treasure with what we were provided. Not just on what to see but the history as well. We were able to tailor our own touring experience with the information provided and can not thank Faye enough! I heard locally about the council possibly replacing people in the information centre with machines. I hope this never happens. We have had experiences with information machines, they never give you exactly what your looking for, they can't tell you about the treasures you might be interested in but don't know there there, or which way to go to get the maximum visits in areas depending on when they are open. Faye made it a breeze, and we will have to come back as there was far too much to do and see in one day. Thank you again for the experience, education, information, and your warm, friendly nature Faye, you are a gem!

Wow! This is a gem of an art gallery, how lucky Armidale is to have it. The Hinton collection is very impressive, featuring some of the biggest names in early 20th century Australian Art such as Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, Nora Heysen, Margaret Preston, and Ethel Spowers. I also enjoyed the temporary exhibitions. The always impressive Art Express was on display today, and a range of other contemporary Australian artists. They also were advertising a range of workshops for kids and adults running throughout the year. The cafe is lovely too, and there's a well curated gift shop for buying a souvenir or two.

Ohh Coffee is so good and the food is to die for. The food is also unique! There's variety in the menu that you don't see in many other cafes in Armidale. Love that they are open on Sundays and the outdoor seating in the sun with a beautiful view and calm surroundings

This art museum is truly impressive. The collection is diverse and beautifully curated, with each exhibit thoughtfully arranged. The space is clean and peaceful, making it easy to spend hours exploring and appreciating the artwork !

Such a lovely free regional Gallery! I visited with my sister and was greeted by the front of house staff. She was warm and welcoming. The exhibitions on show were historical, dynamic, and humorous! Displayed beautifully. Thank you for making art accessible to the regional community.

Fabulous experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibitions, and thought it was beautifully presented. A real gem. The lady who greeted me at the front desk was welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, NERAM is a real highlight and a credit to Armidale.

Nice museum with quality artwork, good ambience, and an enjoyable cafe attached for after your visit. And of course a gift shop, with interesting artifacts and prints. This visit they had an exhibit from the collection of Howard Hilton featuring very interesting paintings of Australian and International topics, a Ken Done exhibition, plus assorted contemporary works including some amazing water colours. Entrance is free, and you can make a donation by tap-and-go to support the museum. Also check out the various sculptures spread outside the museum and cafe!

This for a small country town was outstanding . The choices and grade of stock better than 99% of city businesses and it's. Obvious the proprietors are hard working intelligent thoughtful fair and honest traders. Their business morals are obvious unlike in the city where lieing and cheating your clients are the Short term answers. The don't work for long so in the city u blame others and backstab and betray. It's 2 years since being in this store and my pleasant experience stays with me . 99% of my life in the city is featured by betrayal backstabbing and lies .

Wow! What an amazing campground!! The gorge is astounding.. and a flush toilet for a National Park 🎉🎉 The 4 days we were there (just before Easter weekend) there wasn't enough firewood supplied which led to almost every other camping retrieving wood from the forest. Also 2/4 of the BBQ's weren't working. I did provide feedback to NSWPW and they did come to fix that the day we were leaving.

Great lookouts and walking track on the souther part of Oxley Wild River NP. The main lookout is only a few steps away from the car park, however I recommend taking the 1 hour return walk to Slate Walls Lookout, which will take you past the Apsley river on a suspension bridge, around the gorge to the lower falls.

Beautiful place, We had a great day travelling to Apsley Falls. It was a very cold day but scenery along the route from Uralla was spectacular and the falls after all the rain we had was breath taking.

Falls are amazing, rock formations on the gorge are really interesting. Well maintained walking track (Bitumen), suspension bridge, great look outs, flushing toilets. Definitely worth a visit. Good for a quick stop or 3km walk.

The outdoor area has plenty of seating and the decor is so unique and charming—especially that painted tank! It’s in a great spot, easy walk from the car park and toilets. Don't miss this stop! ​Which one of these feels closest to your experience? The photo of the painted tank and the teapots in the tree really highlight that "unique decor" aspect!

Had a really nice piece of apricot slice with ice cream. It only costs me $2 but really good quality.

Wow, such a crazy drive, if you are coming from Port Macquarie way I would really recommend only going in a 4WD. However once you arrive it's fantastic, the toilets are clean and tidy, and plenty of parking. The hike down to the falls is long and going up is hard, would recommend for people with above average fitness levels. I am not very active and I struggled. The view from the bottom of the falls is beautiful and there are alternative viewing platforms to see the falls if you don't want to go all the way to the bottom.

Absolutely gorgeous place to spend a day or part there of. Take a picnic or cook a BBQ lunch whilst you explore the Ellenborough reserve. The hike to the bottom and back up can be done in 45mins but be warned, the well defined track is steep and can be a bit slippery in parts when leaves and debris collect on the track mesh. And the climb back up is not for the faint hearted or at least if you are short on time. Slow and steady, take your time and enjoy the scenery, of which there is much. Beautiful giant trees, fungi, lichen, tree ferns and a chorus of birds to keep you company, if you can hear them over the roar of the waterfall. There is also an easy walk around the rim of the gorge that provides a picture perfect view of the falls which is well worth doing and is not difficult if you're able bodied. Unfortunately neither track is suitable for wheelchair access.

Good tarred road with a few km of dirt then tar again to the top. General store a km or two before reaching the falls. Absolutely beautiful scenety with a very well laid out and comprehensive Information board. One walking trail of 500 mtrs second trail 700 mtrs and a stairway of 631 steps to reach the bottom. Easy access to lookout with clean toilet facilities. No ticket required for entry. A nature lovers paradise❣️

Beautiful place, check your maps before going as ours took us through the middle of national park. We didn't have a caravan, if you do this road is not suitable. Inhook and head on up. Definitely go and buy a cuppa from the kiosk. Great service, good coffee. Sit and take in nature's beauty, the waterfalls are a must see. Absolutely stunning.

Popped the dachshunds into back packs and headed down the steps. Fabulous views from all aspects but especially from the bottom. Well worth the dirt road access - so glad we didn’t bring the caravan with us!

The road to the falls is an adventure within itself! Dirty, steep and single laned in areas with cows roadside on our trip! The falls itself are gorgeous - 200mtrs long and 1 of the longest in the southern hemisphere! There was a kiosk, but it has since closed and is currently up for sale. The temperature is low in the area (about 18'c when we visited on a clear and sunny day). There are toilets, picnic tables and a fire place with supplied wood. We didn't do the 80mtr walk, but I'm sure it would have been nice.

Really good spot with amazing views. The road is terrible and you need to be very careful as it’s a bit dangerous and it’s a good hiking spot but it’s very tiring.

Great little museum, some sections were under renovation so unable to see it as a whole but definitely recommend for any fan of Slim Dusty.

A great collection of the father of Australian Country music. Loved seeing his hats and guitars and some famous suits from photos I’ve seen. Well worth a visit.

Have passed by many times but decided to visit last week. Wonderful place. So much history of Slim Dusty and memorabilia. Family have donated his Golden Guitars, gold and platinum record awards, lots of photos, guitars etc, there is a movie and This is your Life recordings. Love the stage costumes and props. One of his old cars and a restored caravan are there too.... a lovely Cafe too! Well worth the visit

Just back from the most amazing weekend away at Bellrowan Valley and wow - these guys have it down to a tee! We had the pleasure of enjoying an overnight stay, and we all agree it really was the most relaxing, fun and refreshing weekend we've had in years. The only problem? One night isn’t nearly long enough! Mark is kind, genuine and filled with knowledge, and trust between Mark and his "mob" of horses is an amazing thing to witness. The horses themselves are a joy to ride – fit, great movers and easy to feel comfortable on. The rides are stunning, weaving through bush, rainforest and farmland, and if you’re an experienced rider, Mark allows for quite a lot of fast-paced riding, meaning you get to cover even more of his stunning property and get to enjoy these horses’ gorgeous forward-moving gates. We also saw the team take out a few beginner trails during our stay and though some were really nervous beforehand, every single rider returned looking confident and extremely happy after their ride. The food is spectacular (especially the fresh-baked damper!) and cabin accommodation just perfect for the atmosphere – all topped off with an open fire and a roaming rainbow donkey! Thank you so much Mark, Julie and team for the perfect getaway. We’re so sad to be back to reality but already planning our return trip!

Wonderful experience!! Being first time riders, we where nervous going in but Mark and staff helped make it an unforgettable experience. Everything was handled in a professional and enjoyable manner. Well trained and beautiful horses, thorough training before the ride and the ride itself through the bushlands - PERFECT!! Highly recommend.

A great horse riding experience! Beautiful scenery, horses and very helpful staff. Loved how the ride catered for experienced riders and learners, all had a ball. The kids fell in love with their horses and the goat, cockatoo and little Bob the pony. Will definitely be back again. Mark and Julie really know how to give you a top riding and farm experience.

Three girlfriends and I, with mixed levels of experience, went to Bellrowan last Sunday and absolutely loved it! From the 4WD ride to and from the property, the horseriding and damper bread at the end, the whole experience was great. We separated from the group with Julie as our guide and she was great! She catered to the two of us that were either new or a little nervous about riding (even got us trotting comfortably), as well as the two that were more experienced and we all had a great time. It's very evident that both Julie and Mark love what they do. My favourite horse riding experience yet! Definitely worth a visit if you're anywhere remotely close by!

Mark and Julie are wonderful hosts. Whether you're a novice or an experienced rider, you will enjoy riding and exploring some of the most beautiful scenery in the Greater Port Macquarie region. We truly had a wonderful experience and the kids did too. We will definately be returning.

What a amazing place. Just returned from an overnight stay and ride at Bellrowan. The staff clearly enjoy what they do, the horses are well cared for and Mark and Julie's passion for their horses shine through. Love the way the horses are matched to the riders level of experience and how everyone, from beginners to advanced are catered for! Can't wait to return for our next trip.

An absolutely stunning property!!! Horses are in beautiful condition and you can tell the staff really enjoy their jobs. Bellrowan Valley is a hidden treasure! The attention to detail that was delivered to each and every guest was amazing to me. We all recieved the ride we were capable of. There were beginners to experienced all on the same ride. Can't say enough about this truly amazing trail ride we experienced. 10 STARS +

I could spend all day in this place. Well set out. Bigger than you think. There are really cool activities they have designed for kids, such as a scavenger hunt, as well. There is something for every interest which is brilliant. Tools, textiles, social interests, First Nations awesomeness, arts, agriculture, trains, wildlife, domestic history… It’s got so much to offer and you find something new every time you go back. Their book collection is cool too. A great place to research. I will never ever get bored here. I just wish I could visit more often!

I visited Wingham museum today! Situated in the town centre. Only Aus $6.00 entry and there are tons of interesting pieces from the past to see. The museum is filled to the brim with items from the past & lots to read . Definitely recommend this amazing museum for all ages and if you’d love to discover great local history.

Great place to spend some time while visiting this side of Central Coast. Lovely old artefacts and vintage collectibles, you can spend quality time getting lost in yesteryear!

This place was amazing. Well worth the effort to get there. Parking limited and across a busy road. Narrow entrance due to the building being very old design. But the interior was a trip back in time. Very nice volunteers to serve. Very small cost to enter but more than worth it. Would love to return one day when im up that way again.

Country museums have local bricabrack and old photos of local luminaries and that is part of their attraction. This museum has all of that but is very well curated and displayed. It is hard to make a coherent message with so much clutter, but the displays are well laid out, well described and organised sensibly. It does contain many artifacts that are interesting and unique to the area. It also attempts to integrate some newer technologies into the displays, but were mostly not working. (They need to check their QR codes for accuracy as well) I very much enjoyed this museum and recommend it to anyone with an interest in discovering local history. It was a pleasant few hours to appreciate all of it.

Beautiful place to observe the brush, lighting is really nice at dusk, and you get to see the flying foxes in flight depending on the time. This is a really highlight of the area, unmissable. Try to walk from the town, its a nice walk from town to the brush to the river

Up close with bats in the wild. Worth a visit. Walk is only short (we did it easily with a baby in a carrier(. Bats can be quite loud as you walk underneath them, but there are a lot of them!

Lovely day out a daughter inlaw, don't forget the insect repellent, Brush turkeys, Butterflies and Bats are always there to be seen. Last time I saw a Echinacea, so if your Quiet and Walk Slowly then you never Know what you will see and hear. ENJOY Stay to the paths and take all your Rubbish with you thanks😀

Great slice of old growth rainforest with flat tracks suitable to wheelchairs or mobile limited people. As soon as you get close the smells and sounds engulf you and you lose the sense of the city. Plenty of wildlife for kids to wow at and with toulets,benches and cook ateas would make a nice picnic.

Breathtaking nature reserve with huge fig trees and fauna and flora to observe. Very tranquil place to spend the day. Highly recommend this.

Great little free spot to park a caravan rv or tent . There are toilets, 2 free BBQ's with 2 power points on the front. Also a couple of drinking water taps. A local fella comes around to welcome you with a list of spots to visit and information. The is plenty of riverfront to drop a line or use the jetty or launch a boat. There are a few walking tracks into the bushland reserve to see the local flying fox colony. This is a sight to see! Maybe not hear lol twice daily.

Great place to spend a night or two. The site is not powered so make sure you bring your own. Good toilet facilities and ediquate lighting considering there is no fees. Excellent views when you wake up in the morning.

If driving would recommend suv.. not suitable for small cars and better to go one a sunny day. Beautiful drive and lookout

The signage from the moorland turn off is terrible. We drove around for an hour before finally finding the 2wd access point. We walked the caves trail which was very nice but there is really nowhere to park your car near the start of the track.

The road is unsealed most of the way. But beautiful views.

This park is scenic and is a pleasant drive through the forest. There are numerous lookouts and picnic areas along the journey. There is not a lot in the way of walking tracks though, with most walks being no more than 10 minutes duration. Highlights are the Newbys and Flat Nellie lookouts, and the picnic area at Stars Creek.

We spent a nice day getting lost at Coorabahk national park. we started in through Hannam Vale and Watui. We enjoyed the forestry aspect of the drive and arrived at Watui Falls. Watui Falls was an easy 100 meter stroll off the road It had rained over night so it was a little slippery but beautiful little spot. We explored the area with our 3 kids who loved climbing around and down to the bottom of the fall. Now to get down there its rocky and steep I would not recommend for Nanna or grandpa unless they are fit and and agile. This would be a really nice place for a picnic and a dip in summer. only one side of the picnic table seat and bbq has not be serviced in a very long time and there are no toilets until you get to Starr Creek. So from Watui Falls we headed up the mountain in our Kia Carnival as we drove along there is really no decent places to take pictures of the picturesque mountains of big Nellie and little Nellie. It would be great if the state parks actually did some cutting away so you could enjoy the intimidating scale of these extinct volcanoes. There is one spot where there is a lookout called Flat something we didn't stop for that. We endesign up just going through to Starr Creek where there is a great little 2 min walking boardwalk through the forest. Easily accessible for everyone to enjoy. From there after a much needed bathroom break at the local long drop. We headed out apparently you can go to little Nellie to your right and do a little adventuring. You will come out to a 4 way intersection we it's very disoreientaring. we went right and came out at Lansdowne. Overall it was a really nice family time. Enjoy your journey.

National park drive is lovely. Road better for suvs or 4wd if you continue on to Waitui Falls. All the lookouts easily accessible and magnificent views.

Fantastic place for the family to visit. The steam train was a highlight for my youngest kid and the talking cockatoo was loves by all. The place is really cool, showing how the settlers lived and the various stores and buildings they had back then. Lots of animals to see and interact with.

This was a terribly underwhelming experience. It started with seniors don't get any discounts upon entry (so 4x adult admission was over $130) the information from the receptionist (with the blue hair); when upon paying she informed the group that there was only a train ride and we couldn't walk around the "town" .. this information was delivered rudely and abruptly and we would have left at that stage, had this site not come up in the top 10 things to do in Port Macquarie .... The train ride was 'fun' - there was a fallen log on the track that wasn't there the previous ride, so that was entertaining. You can walk around the town, which is set up well with stories and memorabilia. There are some animals (no bullocks were to be found anywhere) - piglets, emus, ostrich, horses, donkeys, lamas and an amazing parrot that knows a few words. There is a semi working saw mill. Maybe worth $25 admission, but no more than that. Very disappointed.

Our experience at Timbertown was honestly shocking. The whole park is in a terrible state — barely any maintenance has been done in years. Most of the buildings are closed off, and the few you can still enter are surrounded by overgrown bushes and weeds. The cinema was especially bad — rotting wood, broken glass, and overall unsafe conditions that make you question how it’s even open to the public. The livestock were also in very poor condition. The horses in particular looked mistreated and were kept in filthy, disgusting living spaces. It’s honestly heartbreaking to see animals living like that. The wattlers cottage is In a disgusting state with animal poop on both beds. The steam train felt unsafe too — the tracks look neglected and poorly maintained, making the ride feel more dangerous than fun. On top of that, the front desk service was unacceptable. We were charged for 3 adults instead of 2 adults and 1 child (our 15-year-old), even though the child price should have applied. When we politely asked for the $10 difference back, the lady at the counter was rude and dismissive, simply saying “oh well, too bad.” Overall, Timbertown feels completely abandoned — unsafe, unclean, and disheartening to visit. It’s a shame, because it used to be a great place. I wouldn’t recommend anyone visit until serious maintenance, safety, and animal welfare issues are addressed.

Not the best day, due to raining earlier that morning. Fantastic stuff, enjoyed the tractor and train ride. You can walk around the place and look at the houses and checkout some animals. Its got twin paddle boat rides, you can even pan for your own gold. Teens loved it, great fun for the family to step back in time...thanks timbertown team 🤩

This is a tragic display of when something that was interesting, educational and enjoyable is allowed to fall into disrepair and decay by new owners. The steam train ride was the highlight, and the driver knowledgeable and personable. The rest was a sad ghost of what would once have been a bustling popular and fun tourist destination.

Horrible. SAVE YOUR MONEY! We spent 130$ just for everything to be run down and blocked off. You can’t go into majority of the buildings. One house we could go into but it was a small hallway and we couldn’t go in the rooms. It would have been nice if we could go in becuase if it was clean it would have been lovely HOWEVER the bedroom had snake poo and the house was extremely dirty. Entire of timber town was not looked after and was un hygienic. Cleanest place was the toilets. Animals are extremely poorly looked after. Tiny spaces for them and small amounts of water. Horses have injured legs and shake every step. The person running the train said infront of children “keep your hands in if you don’t want to loose fingers”. The seat I sat on was not screwed on properly. We were all getting thrown around. It’s a real safety concern. The fudge also was not great. But if you like soft sweets that don’t taste too sugary it’s a good thing for you. They had nice old cars from I belive it was 1920 1930 and 1950. Not entirely sure with the dates but it was anround then. Overall it’s super run down and not worth it. We understand that it’s different than 40-50 years ago but it’s a huge disappointment for the amount of money it’s insane. No hate to the workers. But serious adjustments need to happen or they will go out of business. Moral of the story. READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU GO SOMEWHERE.

My wife and I are very happy that we visited this wonderful place. This historical heritage is in very good condition, it is nice to touch a piece of antiquity. Very good service and a very wonderful driver of a small steam locomotive! This interesting place should be visited by every tourist and resident of Australia, out of 5 points - I give 100🤗

Apex lookout is a beautiful viewpoint in Taree where this vantage point gives birds-eye view of the delta of manning river. The view from this top region of Taree provides scenic views such as meandering river, cattle grazing pastures, meadows, paddocks, cattle farms and so on. There are gazebos where people can sit and enjoy their refreshments. On the contrary there is no any washroom facilities for the public

5 stars for the local teenagers who also happened to be at the lookout regaling us with stories of how the only way to get the cows across to the island was by zip line that is temporarily installed at the lookout.

The picnic area could use a facelift, but it is a pretty spot. It was very natural, peaceful, calm, and serene.

Local family farm, went here in December and not much Strawberries left at the farm. The kids enjoyed the experience. Charge per kg more expensive than fruit shop of course. The scones and their strawberry jam are so good, definitely recommended.

It’s a really nice experience to visit this place, especially during the strawberry picking season. We went when it wasn’t harvest time, but we still had a great time. The little one loved searching for and cutting the strawberries. The place has several greenhouses with walking paths, and at the entrance they give you a small basket and scissors to pick your strawberries. Inside, there are friendly signs reminding visitors not to eat the berries before paying, as everything is grown with care and effort. They also have some hydroponic products, a café or restaurant with good service, and plenty of parking. Behind the main area there’s a short path leading to a small pond, perfect for a quiet walk. Overall, it’s a simple but very pleasant experience to enjoy with the family.

We didn’t do strawberry picking but had a with lunch on way to Sydney. Ordered scones which was really very good… best in the world according to UK 🌟 Fettuccine was average, nothing great. No vegetables only sauce and that too not much.They can do with a bit more pasta sauce.soup was nice though… along with a warm bun. Also bought tomatoes 🍅 and chutney. We also like to buy seeds for tomatoes but it wasn’t available…. Nice place to stop on way to Sydney 👍

The very first thing to do eat tomatoes and Strawberries they’re so fresh and Tasty. Wonderful place with nice and friendly staff. Lot of options to explore to eat and buy jam and relish etc. scones are no 1 favourite there for me after Tomato 😊

Easy to find, not too far off the freeway but far enough that it’s quiet. Lunch was delicious, I had creamy mushroom and garlic with Turkish bread and it was delicious, my sister had the bruschetta and was also delicious, we both also had a strawberry milkshake- delicious. We also shared some scones with strawberry jam and cream- delicious. We bought tomatoes that tasted like real tomatoes- delicious and although we didn’t have time to pick strawberries they did look amazing. Highly recommend popping in

I was disappointed after reading that they have "the world's best scones" to find that the scones we had were hard and dry, not very appetising. The coffee however was great.

Crescent head lookout is short drive from town. Walk onto the headland for pictures. Or walk 700m along the trail to the beach below. Parking for 3 cars and 2 accessible spaces or park along side of access road at front. Accessible parking but trails are not that suitable for Accessibility. Unfortunately there are no toilets. It was fully overcast when we arrived but as we walked glimmer of sunshine made their way through the clouds. The wildflowers were in rare form including wattle, bottle brush and paper daisies. They were quite a number of people there that were just quietly enjoying the time overlooking the ocean with the intense waves. The highlight, were the whales that were feeding off the coast. Unfortunately, they were too far away for my phone camera to take any photos.

They were doing maintenance and some areas got fenced off when we went there on 25 Dec 2021. Didn’t have toilets. But the view is pretty nice. Would recommend finishing these maintenance matters and adding a few amenities such as public toilets and shaded sitting areas. You actually have the space for these things.

Breathtaking! Go, take a seat and just marvel at it!!! Then go swim in the river and the beach breaks are amazing!!! Great for families too -I am making this a place to revisit for sure. Locals are very friendly and also possibility of SUP hiring and good choice for cafes after walk/swim.

Nice lookout with beautiful views, but nothing too special about it. There are a few parking spots, one picnic table and a bin available. There is a short walk from the parking area to more views.

Walked through the various grass tracks. Stunning. No guard rails and huge drop offs, so not suitable for little kids. Fairly flat walk though and fantastic views

Absolutely loved visiting Billabong! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well-kept. The animals spaces are thoughtfully designed, giving the animals plenty of space while still allowing visitors to enjoy an up-close view. The staff were friendly and incredibly informative, always happy to share their knowledge and answer any questions making the visit both fun and educational. Overall, a lovely place to spend the day, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who appreciates animals, conservation, and a truly well cared for environment.

We had a great day. Zoo Keeper Kristie was especially helpful in coaxing the Snow Leopard out after seeing us waiting patiently for him to come out. We did the Cheetah Feeding experience which was awesome. All of the animal info sessions were well run and informative. There were not a lot of people on our visit, so we didn’t have to jostle for a look or good position to take photos. All staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to the whole Billabong team for making our day memorable.

7.9.2025 This is an amazing facility; the enclosures are all spacious and the animals appear happy and content. There is a walking path around the park and write ups / QR codes for all the animals. The new additions with their pool are gorgeous and we got to see them swimming around on our trip. You can pay extra to encounter a koala or hold and python. Only down side was the hand sanitiser was empty upon exiting the kangaroo enclosure.

We had the best experience at Billabong! Every member of staff was kind, friendly and seemed to genuinely adore the animals under their care. Caitlin delivered the best koala experience we could have hoped for. It’s wonderful to support a facility like this, would recommend.

If your going past 💯 stop in for a visit the keepers and staff are the nicest people. This zoo is awesome the animals are happy and relaxed it's got a great atmosphere 😀.

Our uber driver recommended this place as we were on our way to the koala hospital that’s near it. We are so thankful they did because we had one of the best experiences ever. It was a quiet day pretty much the zoo to ourselves but we had the best time. The animals seemed very well kept and the staff has so much passion for what they do. Feeding the kangaroos was an experience i’ll never forget. At the end of our day we met the owner Max and he was extremely kind and shared some amazing information. The whole family helps out and it’s just a great place all around. Thank you again to Max for everything!

The Koala Hospital is currently operating from Guulabaa on Burrawan Forest Drive while they redevelop the site in town. It is such a great facility and so wonderful to see the koalas up in their trees. Great picnic spot outside.

Such a wonderful experience! The family enjoyed it. Good to see we have hospitals for these beautiful animals. They even have a store with cute items to buy. They also have a heritage onsite with cafe with memorabilia. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful place for rescued Koalas. When you visit in the morning when the Koalas get food they are awake. Since September 2024 the hospital needs to charge an entry fee because people weren’t donating enough. An adult pays 12,50$ to treat the sick Koalas. We loved the visit and only met very kind volunteers.

An amazing experience! We gained fascinating insights into the organization’s work at the Koala Hospital. The dedicated volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. We were lucky to spot a few koalas, but it’s clear that the focus here is not on showcasing the animals for tourism but on their protection and care—huge respect for that! The hospital will be closing soon, but there is a koala breeding center on the other side of the city, run by the same organization. We were encouraged to visit for more valuable insights. I highly recommend a visit—thank you for your incredible work, and keep it up!

We visited the hospital with the family on a thursday morning. The best option is to go early, as they get food in between 8.30 and 9.00. They also get food in the evening. We didn’t book a tour guide but Maz was around and gave alot of information. We could ask all and any questions about the koalas and their way of life. It’s great to support the hospital as they so take care of them with care. Would recommend a visit!

Good initiative! There really wasn’t that much to do here though for those who have seen koalas before and been to other conservation parks. There were 5 koalas to see and a sign of how they were found. All up 10 min visit.

Definitely worth a visit for a peaceful walk and a relaxing coffee break

There are several tour options, although you can also purchase the boardwalk alone. In July there are some aboriginal tours going on - photo enclosed. We visited Sea Acres Rainforest centre and did the board walk today and it was magical! We were told at reception where we would see a Powerful Owl, and then spotted it perched on a tree branch which was amazing to see, definitely would not have seen this if we weren’t for the help! The walk is beautiful at every point and the trees were breathtaking! We also met Graham, who is a volunteer at the centre, and asked us if we had any questions about the place, we asked about the fig trees and he had all the facts, we learnt so much! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable so special thanks to Graham! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

I got charged $90 for my 6 yo/3yo/2yo There drinks and popcorn plus mine were $34 i paid $54 for tickets??????? Usually qtleast 2 year olds are free? Definitely won't be back. Update- I've tried contacting them via phone and they do not have a phone number that connects to there line. So no way of contacting them unless I come back down.

Beautiful theatre as you walk in the foyer you go back in time to the golden ages of film.Then walking into the theatre just wow at all the decorations to behold.

I spent summer's during the 1990's going to this theater while visiting my grandparents. My family and I have such incredible memories of going here seeing many films which are now considered modern classics. Visited recently and the theater is still better than ever and really captures what made this experience so special.

What a fantastic experience to view a movie at this cinema. It's like going back in time. Their movie selection is terrific, very up to date and such a variety.

Stopped down the road for a morning tea with friends. Very happy to see this place has reopened. Excellent view. Coffee outstanding. Cake was perfection. Extra care in service and atmosphere. Well done on making this a destination to head for.

This is such a beautiful spot. My son loved feeding the fish and having a play in the water next to the cafe. My coffee was really nice and the service was wonderful. I wish we were locals so we could visit more often

What a brilliant cafe in a stunning location. I ‘d love a ceramic or china cup/mug to drink coffee from, but I understand the restraints of being next to the river and not a huge amount of space, but lifestyle considerations. Food selections are limited but enjoyed my toastie. Watching cormorants dive for fish and watching and or feeding the fish swimming around the boat shed is very special. The view over the river and mountains is spectacular.

The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was so warm and welcoming. Surrounded by stunning views, it's the perfect spot to catch up with friends or family and enjoy a delicious cake and coffee by the river! thanks guys Belinda

What a lovely little find for a coffee shop not far from Laurieton on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Second light house on my visit to Australia. Port Macquarie is a nice place with several areas to go and see the sites as well as sit and relax. This one was easy to find parking and casual stroll about. It is winter in Australia at this time so it can be a bit cool and breezy so keep that in mind if visiting (although during the day while the sun is out, it's not that bad)

We stopped here 2yrs ago and the upgrades they have made are A+! The elevated board walk is magic, the extra seating is a great addition and the anchored binoculars are a wonderful idea (they could have been a little taller and there could have been a set on every observation deck). Beautifully restored and maintained. We got to see some whales in the distance and the binoculars definitely helped!

Such a lovely view of the sea. From the top of the cliff, this small light house section gives you a panoramic view of the sea. Both sides of the sea stretching across kilometres. A must visit point to sometime in the area !

Whether you drive straight to Tacking Point Lighthouse or take the 3 hour coastal walk from Port Macquarie, the views here are stunning. The lighthouse is automated these days with LED lights though that does not take away from the nostalgia and history. There are many placards that detail the history and sights. During certain times of the year, you can see whales migrating up and down the coast. If you want to can walk down to lighthouse beach or have a picnic on the grounds.

Fantastic views from the top where the light house is situated with the ocean braking over the rock formations, the beach is awesome Getting to the top of the Lighthouse requires climbing some steps. There is some car parking at the top and bottom of the Lighthouse. Well worth a visit

Had such wonderful experience at tacking point! First time there and we will definitely be going back, so peaceful, I just wish we saw some whales or dolphins but maybe next time

Great views & interesting historical lighthouse. Limited parking & if mobility is not an issue, park at the nearby Tacking Point beach & climb the stairs up the lighthouse.

A nice club if you happen to be in the area and want a drink or something to eat. For me they had a very limited choice of tap beer but everyone has different tastes so if you’re fine with VB or Great Northern which seems to be everywhere in clubs these days then you’re sorted. There’s plenty of parking both in the car park and on the wife suburban streets which surrounded the club. From here it’s a short drive or a reasonable walk down to the beach which is beautiful and the local shops are not far away either.

For a bowling club, the prices are extraordinary. $10 for a schooner! The one staff member we dealt with at the front desk was surly and almost deliberately unhelpful. Don't waste your time here.

What I ordered. Chicken Scallopini. What I got: a full chicken breast that tasted like it had been microwaved & then browned.

Really disappointed went there for dinner ended up waiting 45 minutes for a meal when the place was pretty much empty only for the food to not be worth it…. The staff weren’t exactly friendly either.

One of the front staff was rude as soon as we walked in because I have a backpack for my medical stuff and medications. The chips were ok the chicken schnitzel was average. They couldn't or wouldn't sell soft drinks in a jug. To be honest I was greatly offended, disappointed and won't likely return! I cannot recommend this establishment.

Spectacular views from the deck, and relaxing on the sofa inside :) good value menu and predictable basics. Lovely team and service, nothing a hassle. First time in Harrington and this Cafe was recommended for a great breakfast. I wasn't disappointed. The staff were bery friendly and they were very flexible and accommodating as we arrived without a reservation for 8 people. Good variety of food and it was very tasty. Prices were more than reasonable. If your in Harrington. Do yourself a favour and have a great breakfast. Make sure you book if you have a big group.

Great cafe! Staff are efficient, friendly and working extra hard to make sure everyone has a great experience even with all the Covid restrictions. Food is delicious, with generous portions. Had Fathers Day breakfast this morning, and even with our family drama impacting on our booking, staff where patient, accommodating and really helpful. Recommend sitting on the terrace, the view is beautiful.

Paths to beach are very sandy and difficult for people with mobility problems. It would be nice to see a board walk that is wheelchair ♿ friendly so that all visitors can see this amazing area.

Nice walk along the breakwater. A few people fishing, well giving bait to whatever would take it as the tide came in. Quite relaxing wandering and enjoying the environment.

Beautiful long, sandy beach that would never be very crowded. Behind it, the state park with walks and places to enjoyed views. You get a a great view of the state park, and the beach, from Crowdy Head lighthouse.

Beaches for as far as you can see. Quiet and discuss, even is school holidays. A beautiful, calm and quiet place

My family had a wonderful time here! Fish and chips by the water, a play in the park, a walk along the jetty and a swim in the bay. What a great day out!!!
