Red Cow Farm Garden, located in Robertson, is a stunning formal garden with a large dam at its center, surrounded by trees and plants. The garden offers breathtaking views and features carefully considered design elements to provide visitors with beautiful vistas as they explore the grounds. With an array of Japanese maples and various statues scattered throughout, the garden is a delightful place to spend contemplative time.
Spectacular “English” gardens. Absolutely beautifully designed and around every corner is another wonderful experience. To top off a fabulous visit, two very friendly and lovable border collies joined us. Highly recommended for garden lovers.

This is a seasonal garden, it depends on the time of year you visit as to what you will see. It's very impressive to see the owners vision of garden rooms, hedges , paths, arbours and plenty more. Hard to believe it was a blank canvas when he started in 1992 . It's quaint and beckons you into every corner of the garden. I look forward to returning in the spring. A delightful little gift shop in one of the rooms in the historic cottage too. Parking is in the side street off the highway.
Wendy B — Google review
My husband and I visited the gardens today for our first anniversary. We met the owner, Ali, who was so lovely and saved our bacon by loaning us some umbrellas! Even though it was a rainy winter's day, this place is just beautiful. We spent an hour here just exploring and soaking it all up (literally). I don't think a 'bad' day exists in this little corner of heaven. We can't wait to come back for every season!

Located at 7480 Illawarra Highway, Sutton Forest, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 This was a really lovely spot to visit. The statues situated around the garden really made the visit more enjoyable because most of the flowers 🌷 were not in bloom which is tea disappointing. It would have been nice to see the garden when there was more colour. The first thing you see is the beautiful 1820’s cottage which leads into the gardens. There’s several benches situated around the garden to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The cottage has a small gift shop also. Parking 🅿️ is not the best. There’s limited parking in the next street closest to the entrance but you have to walk along the busy highway to get to the entrance. We did have a member of the group with a walker and found some areas hard to push her walker. It’s not very accessible for people with mobility difficulties. I would definitely recommend visiting during the spring to experience the full benefits of the flowers blooming. But we still had a great time. Thumbs up!! 👍 👍👍

Beautiful garden to wander around and get ideas. Autumn is a brilliant time to visit, but each season would have its unique beauty.
Kalee S — Google review
Amazing gardens, which appear to have a range of seasonal flora. This means it's very likely worth going at different times of the year to see different things. Didn't spot any of the red cows that are apparently hidden about the place, but I still had a great time and took a *lot* of photos (only some of which I've posted here).
Jared C — Google review
We went to see this year's Tulip Time Festival yesterday and decided to travel a bit further to see this garden due to its good Google reviews. We were not disappointed. This lovely garden has the seasonal tulips as well as many other flowers and plants. It is almost flat with easy walkways, but not wheelchair friendly though.
Charlie R — Google review
Lovely place to explore. Great location, parking is limited but that's to be expected for a privately held garden. Honestly it is such a nice place to rediscover why weekend's can be magical. Will undoubtedly visit many more times in the future. Kind regards

Joadja Heritage Tours

Historical & Heritage Tours
Distillery Tours
You need to book a tour if you want to visit the historic site/ruins, they run about twice a month on Saturdays. The tour is very informative and quite fun on the special trolleys. The owners are doing a great job with this piece of history in their garden, go support them!
Mia — Google review
Hidden little gem with it's own distillery. Tour of the distillery and tasting was quite interesting. Staff/owners were lovely and knowledgable. They brew there own scotch, gin, ouzo and have there twist on a beautiful port. I purchased the port and ouzo to drink straight even tho I'm not an ouzo drinker. Scotch will be purchased when its restocked. Self guided tour of the heritage listed site was great fun and interesting to do with my son. Would be good to see guided tours down the track but that costs big dollars to set up and run. 1300 people lived her back in the early 1800's, mostly Welsh as they knew how to mine. Definitely worth a visit if you like to explore, alcohol tasting or understand a little of our heritage. Enjoy :)
Ben — Google review
A great tour and well priced. Cant wait for the self guided version (hopefully in a couple of years). A lot to see and great work on conserving some of the buildings 👌. The tours only run a few times a year at present so get on their mailing list for notifications about when they are on. The distillery is open most weekends though and the cafe so still worth a visit
Joanne M — Google review
Highly recommend to visit. They have their own distillery with awesome Gins, Whiskey and Bourbon made on site. The Ghost town and it's ruins are well worth looking at. The history is amazing

Rocky Hill War Memorial and Museum

Military Museums
Perched atop Rocky Hill, the Rocky Hill War Memorial and Museum in Goulburn is a tribute to the soldiers of WWI. The museum showcases a remarkable collection of military artifacts thoughtfully displayed in both old and new sections. The memorial tower, built in 1925 through public funding, honors local service personnel and offers breathtaking views of Goulburn and its surroundings.
Another really well designed Australian war memorial, where the modern expansion nicely complements the historical landmarks. Driving into the memorial seems a bit drab, but upon entry, it is much more pleasant. Enjoyed the views of Goulburn from the tower, makes for a nice detour en route to Canberra. Entry is free, but donations are welcomed.
Life's A — Google review
An interesting war memorial and museum. Before coming here, we did not know at all that there were soldiers from Goulburn who contributed and risked their lives for several wars that happened throughout history. Unfortunately, the museum was closed when we came on Thursday (their opening days are weird). Also, the memorial tower was on renovation. There is a scenic lookout that overlooks the Goulburn city, it was pretty beautiful. There is a picnic bench and I think we saw a walking track as well. We did not stay until sunset hour, but I bet the view of the sunset would be stunning from up here.
Zahra Z — Google review
Great war memorial in the Goulburn Hills. Stairs to the top are adorned with information boards. Awesome views from the top. Parking is plentiful as well as mobility parking. Beware of snakes signs on display. A museum is on-site as well.
Tim K — Google review
Beautiful views of Goulburn township and the surrounding hills. The tower is open again after being closed for a few months, there are a few flights of stairs to get to the top but it's worth it ! The adjacent war museum was great too.
CarolynA ( — Google review
This is a very good memorial and unusual being a tower with a great view from the top and contains interesting photos and a grand Marble Honor Roll. There is also a museum and Heritage Cottage on the same site well worth visiting with a gift shop. Well worth the donation suggested for entry.
Greg G — Google review
What a great place to learn our history and to give respect for our fallen hero's. Free entry with great things to look at and read. Take your time and walk up to the top of the memorial tower great views of Goulburn

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Belmore Park is a charming city square located in Goulburn, with a rich history and modern amenities. Once a major service center for pastoral land, it now features landscaped grounds, shade trees, and a playground for children. The park's transformation from a marketplace to a picturesque public space is marked by the installation of the band rotunda in 1899.
A very well laid out park. Nice war memorials, beautiful old growth shade trees and great play equipment for the kids.
Alex R — Google review
Stopped by Belmore Park while visiting the court nearby. It’s a beautiful, historic park with well-maintained gardens, vibrant flower beds, and a stunning old tree that adds to its charm. The park also has a lovely water fountain and a great playground for kids. A peaceful spot to relax and take in a bit of Goulburn’s history!
Abdullah A — Google review
Awesome park. Well maintained and reminds me of most parks in Country towns and many city parks before the developera moved in the council's decides they couldn't be bothered maintaining them.
Steve P — Google review
This photograph captures a beautiful, tranquil park setting, likely centered around a War Memorial. The statue, standing atop a dignified pedestal, is the clear focal point, surrounded by well-manicured garden beds and a low fence. The scene is dominated by the vibrant, lush green foliage of the large, mature trees that frame the memorial, providing a striking contrast to the bright blue sky dotted with soft white clouds. The intense colors suggest a clear, sunny day, making the stone of the memorial stand out beautifully. In the foreground, there are neat rows of freshly planted flowers, signifying care and respect for the grounds. Overall, the place exudes a sense of peace, history, and civic pride. It's a lovely spot for quiet contemplation and appreciation of the local heritage. Would you like me to focus on a particular element of the photo, like the memorial's design or the surrounding greenery, in a different style of description?

This is surrounded by a beautiful view and fresh air. Perfect place to jog & enjoy the scenic beauty at the same time
Himanshu K — Google review
Belmore Park is absolutely beautiful. Whether you want to walk through the park and look at the lovely flowers beds, just sit in the shade and read a book or watch the world go by Belmore Park is the place to go. Kids love the playground area and it's very popular with families.
Jennifer P — Google review
This is a beautiful park in the heart of Goulburn. Great place to stop for a picnic as one is driving from Sydney to Gundagai. Beautiful roses, shady. Just a lovely resting or stopping place. Cafe across the street, historical court house across the street on Montague. Plenty of parking.

A very cute and lively green park in the middle of Goulburn. Its flowers beds are filled with tiny cute flowers. Huge trees provide shades to picnic goers. Picnic tables and amenities available. Kids play ground, Arboretum and toilet facilities good.

Sights & Landmarks
The Big Merino is a monumental tribute to the local wool industry, featuring a massive replica of a Merino ram that stands at 15.2 meters high, 18 meters long, and weighs 98 tonnes. This iconic attraction was built in 1985 and offers visitors the unique opportunity to enter the structure. Inside, guests can explore a permanent exhibition showcasing the history of wool production in Australia.
Whoever design and build the structure deserves Bog Praise. The Big Merino looks so real & majestic and it’s definitely worth a detour from the main highway to see it. It houses a souvenir shop and a free museum, it’s nice to be able to walk in that Giant.
Ls C — Google review
Welcome to “Australia’s Statue of Liberty.” You’ve seen the Pyramids and the Eiffel Tower, but nothing prepares you for the majesty of The Big Merino. It’s a giant concrete sheep, complete with a wool museum and a gift shop, and yes. Seriously definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Daniel W — Google review
Stopped on our way to Geelong. Impressive statue. Took some snaps, had breakfast at Trappers Bakery, fuelled up and continued with the journey. Plenty of parking and other restaurants nearby. If you are planning a trip between NSW and Victoria make this place as your pit stop.
Antony R — Google review
This exquisite gift shop boasts an extensive selection of items, particularly focussing on high-quality woollen garments and accessories. The shop’s commitment to Australian-made products is commendable, providing an ideal platform to procure distinctive souvenirs. The staff’s exceptional kindness and helpfulness were evident throughout my visit. While searching for a specific dog coat, I was delighted to discover the Digeridoona line. The staff kindly suggested that I bring my dog into the shop for a fitting, which proved to be a valuable assistance, especially considering the chilly winds of Goulburn outside.
Christopher C — Google review
Great place to stop and relax with many shops around. It was a busy corner with the traffic coming in and out from the petrol station. The Big Merino Gift Shop had a nice collection of woollen clothes, souvenirs and hand made items.
Manasa T — Google review
The Big Ram is truly one of a kind such a unique piece of work that you can’t help but stop and admire! It’s not just the impressive size and craftsmanship that make it special, but the whole experience around it. The location is super convenient, with a bakery for a fresh bite, a servo nearby for a quick fuel stop and even a Maccas right there if you’re after something familiar. Don’t miss the amazing gift shop — it’s packed with quality souvenirs that really capture the spirit of the place. Whether you’re just passing through or making it a special trip, the Big Ram is well worth the visit! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-See Aussie Icon!
Peeran K — Google review
It is a good place to stop and get some food and coffee. There is a huge statue of sheep, a tourist attraction. There is a gift shop adjacent to the sheep statue. The prices at this shop are a bit higher than normal. It also has a variety of jams and honey. Parking is not a problem. You can have a picture around the statue.

Sophisticated gallery offering high-end wood art & furniture, plus a cafe with classic meals & wine.
Based on a friend’s recommendation, we visited this amazing gallery and retail space—and it did not disappoint. The furniture and wood crafts are stunning, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and unique wood specimens that I’ve never encountered anywhere else. It’s no surprise this gallery is ranked among the top 20 wood galleries in the world!

Some amazing pieces of woodwork! Amazing to look at the detail and amount of work that goes into these pieces, from tables and jewellery boxes, as well as the sculptures and even chess pieces. Obviously quite expensive however rightfully so given the amazing craftsmanship that goes into these.
Bel R — Google review
The display of furniture and other items at the gallery are mind blowing. The craftsmanship is amazing and a everlasting tribute to their skills. People may think that these items are over priced but they need to step back and take a good look at the skills involved to achieve such beautiful work. This gallery is a must view. 👌
Allen G — Google review
A great place to look at amazing works of timber. Though if you find yourself accidentally damaging something, it might cost a kidney. But other then a that, they display fine quality timber products and furnitures with amazing finishes and an assortment of kitchen appliances, decorative items, furniture, accessories, and toys. All top quality. The owners are also very wonderful and were very nice.
Giorno J — Google review
Drove 35 minutes from Canberra to look at the gallery and didn't disappoint with its amazing collection of woodwork. Then, as a bonus, I found the café through the gallery, and although expensive, the food and coffee were delicious! It's worth the drive! I will be back soon! 😊

I rarely give 5 stars but this place deserves them. Utterly amazing woodworking! From exquisite small boxes to large cabinets draw the eye for a closer look. Kinda out of the way in Bungendore 20km North on Canberra off the Federal Highway... but a must visit if you are anywhere in the area.

Had a stopover otw back to Sydney. It’s a beautiful vineyard. We had lunch with a glass of wine and a coffee. Price is reasonable. Even weekdays, the vineyard did attract quiet visitors. The outdoor setting is relaxing. We really enjoyed the scenery and the wine here. I’d recommend this place for a stopover near Canberra or if you’re a wine enthusiast perhaps some tastings.
Lena A — Google review
Had a fantastic experience with Arran leading our wine tasting. I had always meant to stop in when driving through to Canberra and am very glad we did. Can see why Lerida is included in the Top Wineries as published by The Real Review. We’ll be back. Thank you for your hospitality. Delicious wine!! 🥂🥂
Sean J — Google review
This charming restaurant is set above the vineyard and is really interesting, great vibe, with wine barrels around the walls. The service is terrific and the food outstanding. We had garlic bread, then, Mains: pork belly, barramundi and seafood spaghetti. Desserts: panna cotta, crepes, raspberry & chocolate mousse cake and coffee plus one had, and loved, the Lerida Shiraz . It was a cool spring day and chilly even with heaters going so dress warmly if the temperature is under 20. Layers, people! But honestly, it was terrific. We celebrated a 50th birthday there in style and the view from the restaurant and shop/tasting area, near Lake George, is stunning. Looking forward to our next visit.
Rosalie S — Google review
Stopped for lunch at this winery and had a great experience! The food was delicious, and the location was super easy to access from the highway. While there’s a more formal indoor restaurant, we enjoyed the spacious outdoor area, which was perfect for us and our dog. The staff even brought out water for our dog. Highly recommend!
Fukari S — Google review
They have the best wine. Their red wine is amazing❤️‍🔥. I go there all the time. I drive 40 minutes to drink their wine. The place is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the staff are very respectful. I highly recommend going. Don't miss it. Even if you don't drink wine, the place has a great atmosphere. You'll feel like you're in an old Irish wine pub. It's like the one from Peaky Blinders. 😅 I love this place. You can explore the vineyards and how the wine is made. It's such a beautiful place. And don't forget to taste their coffee too.❤️🙏

Been here twice now and loved it both times. Nice little quiet spot to stop at on the way to and from Jindabyne. Tucked away, and worth the exploration to get there. We had a lovely spread of cheeses and meats, amongst other things. Plus a nice glass of wine made there, paired perfectly. Very cosy, and pretty with a view of the vineyards. Highly recommend 👍🏻
Gabriel — Google review
A delicious lunch stop. The half charcuterie board was perfect as we did not want a big meal. Beautifully proportioned for the meat eater and the vegetarian. The reisling was yummy. And the consistency was impressive as the espresso to finish with was really good.
Linda K — Google review
Driven past there countless times to or from Canberra and finally made the stop for wine tasting and a light lunch and loved it. Weather was warm enough to sit outside in the courtyard overlooking pinot noir vines and Lake George was very picturesque. 2 ranges of wines their value Estate range and their higher end Cullerin with deals if you buy certain quantity. Good menu for grazing or full lunch. Worth the stop.

The Mount Ainslie Lookout in Canberra offers a paved observation deck with panoramic vistas and information plaques detailing distant landmarks. From this iconic viewpoint, visitors can enjoy wonderful views of the capital city and surrounding areas, including main landmarks such as the War Memorial, ANZAC Parade, Old Parliament House, and the striking architecture of Parliament House. While there are no public toilets available at the site, it is just a one-minute walk from the carpark.
Went on the first week of September. Weather was nice. Completed the 3.4 km loop. Trail was mostly through the woods. Moderate difficulty. Didn't come across any snakes. Spotted few Kangaroos on the top. The summit got a nice view of the whole Canberra city. Worth the walk. Ample parking.

Stunning view from the lookout, it’s like you’re looking to a live map. Been here a couple of times but different time of the day and I can tell that best time is sun set, but sun rise is nice too. Your eyes will be full so don’t miss it on your trip.

Mount Ainslie was a wonderful part of our Canberra trip. The drive up was easy, and the view from the lookout was spectacular. We went in September, and the clear weather made for a perfect panorama of the city and Lake Burley Griffin. It was a great time to be with friends and take in the beautiful scenery. Highly recommend this spot for an unforgettable view! #visitaustraliaash #visitsrilanka #canberra #mountainslie #ashfootprints #nature #lookout #friends #australia

Mount Ainslie Lookout is a must-visit vantage point offering sweeping views of Canberra’s cityscape, framed by lush bushland and iconic landmarks like Parliament House. Whether you drive up or hike the scenic trail, the reward is a breathtaking panorama—especially magical at sunrise or sunset. It’s popular with photographers, fitness enthusiasts, and families seeking a serene escape. Informative plaques add historical context, and the well-maintained paths make it accessible year-round. Native birds and kangaroos often make appearances, adding charm to the experience. A perfect blend of nature, history, and perspective—Mount Ainslie captures the spirit of Australia’s capital from above.

One of the best viewpoints in the city. If you're in Canberra, you should visit it definitely and also there's a good chance that you'd see a kangaroo too while driving towards the viewpoint. So drive carefully, and enjoy the view once you are here.

Great spot to wind down and relax with a hot chocolate or coffee. The service was quick and friendly. There is a lot of outdoor seating and a large grass area for kids to run around whilst the adults soak in the beautiful scenery. The chocolates were delicious! Highly recommended!

The chocolate bar workshop is so fun for a weekend getaway! There’s much more than just decorating a chocolate bar, but also some fun tasting, creating your own flavour combination and designing your own labels on the picturesque patio with a delicious drink :) shoutout to all staff who were so welcoming and helpful, 100% loved it!

Yasmin and her team went above and beyond to host our group of children so they could use their Willy Wonka Chocolate tickets. They have been reading the book at school and wanted to get the whole experience. The service was exceptional we feel very grateful for their efforts! It’s such a beautiful space with farm animals and amazing scenery. There are some games and blankets on the deck too. We would definitely recommend to anyone to come here and make the trip. Thank you to everyone again!

We visited this shop and enjoyed our time spent here. Besides the freshly made chocolates they also serve ice cream, cake and drinks. The surrounding scenery is very nice, with the shop facing a pond. We had some hot chocolate drinks which were very good.

The Australian War Memorial in Canberra is a stunning tribute to the nation's military history and the sacrifices made by its service members. The art-deco memorial, built during World War II, houses a well-designed museum that showcases Australia's wartime experiences. The First World War gallery is particularly moving, with its detailed exhibits and personal stories bringing the enormity of the conflict to life. Visitors are encouraged to take their time exploring the historical artifacts and stories on display.
This is an informative, peaceful, and contemplative place. You can learn more about the two world wars, view actual equipment used during the wars, and read about the bravery of the soldiers. Most of the areas are low-sensory, and ample seating is available in the main hall. You'll have to go through a simple bag check before entering—no full body scanners are used here. Will try to visit again when the rest of the galleries are completed.

I cannot give a higher ranking than a 5/5. Our war memorial is simply a must see. So must history and gallantry we need to know. Beautifully exhibited. Staff are amazing. We took the free tour through the WW11 section with an amazing tour guide called Bill Arthur. He was a wealth of knowledge and simply loved the exhibits and it showed. We had such an incredible time and plan to go back soon as you simply cannot see and read everything in one visit. Simply amazing. Proud to be an Aussie.

The Australian War Memorial is an incredibly moving and beautifully curated place. It’s not just a museum, it’s a powerful tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of so many Australians. The exhibits are detailed, respectful and deeply engaging and the Last Post ceremony is an absolute must-see. A quick tip - the galleries close promptly at 4 p.m. to prepare for the ceremony, so it’s best to arrive at least an hour and a half earlier to explore everything properly. The staff are warm and knowledgeable and the grounds are beautifully maintained. A truly meaningful experience that stays with you long after you leave.
Haily D — Google review
The Australian War Memorial exceeded my expectations with its extensive and detailed exhibition areas covering major conflicts such as World War I, World War II, and the Cold War. The depth of the displays and the rich storytelling truly impressed me. The memorial itself is beautiful. The poppies adorning the honour rolls serve as a beautiful and meaningful tribute to those who served.Visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was a moving experience. The space, with its tall walls and stunning glass windows, felt like entering a grand cathedral, a place of solemnity and reflection. The surrounding grounds are immaculate, adding to the peace and reverence of the entire site. I now understand why the Australian War Memorial is so highly rated by visitors.Overall, the Australian War Memorial is a powerful combination of history, artistry, and respect, making it a must-visit for anyone wanting to connect with Australia's military heritage. It offers a deeply emotional, educational, and memorable experience that truly honors those who served.

This is a must do when visiting Canberra including jumping on to a free guided tour of the memorial. We had a lovely gentleman named Bob Davidson who was our terrific guide. Bob spoke clearly, empathetically and passionately and with that passion he kept us all engaged. Not one person from our group dropped off from the tour. I would recommend at least a full day visit here, maybe even a day and a half.

A wealth of history. Give yourself time, it is so worthy of the visit, and Poppy's Cafe is open for a meal or snack. I can't say enough about the staff at the War Memorial they are exceptional, thank you to all. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Each day around 4.30 pm the Last Post is played and one of our brave soldiers story is told. We were at two of these services recently, for two of our uncles who lost their lives at war.🕊 Lest We Forget.
Darrlyn L — Google review
Just a fascinating place...so much history on display. Excellent staff who all seem to go the extra mile to help with any inquiry you might have. Spent the entire day there and didn't get to see everything. Stayed for the Last Post Ceremony which was a wonderful way to finish off the day.
Steve W — Google review
A must see. The war memorial is a solemn and respectful place to remember those who have made Australia today. Everyone should make the effort for at least one visit to realise what war is really about. If it does not touch your heart, then you are not human. You need a day to really take your time and be thankful for what these men, women and even animals have done for this country. LEST WE FORGET. 🕊

We recently visited Commonwealth Park in Canberra during October spring, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The park was bursting with colorful, blooming flowers, creating a vibrant and picturesque setting that felt like walking through a living painting. The floral arrangements were beautifully designed, showcasing a wide variety of flowers in full bloom. The combination of colors, patterns, and landscaping made it a perfect spot for photography and simply soaking in the natural beauty. The atmosphere was calm and refreshing, with plenty of open spaces for kids to run around, making it a family-friendly destination. We saw many families enjoying picnics, children playing, and people strolling along the well-maintained paths. The park’s layout is very well thought out, with benches, shaded areas, and clear walkways, which makes it accessible and comfortable for visitors of all ages. October is definitely one of the best times to visit, as the spring season brings out the very best of the park’s gardens. It’s also a great spot for a peaceful walk, relaxing by the lake, or just spending quality time outdoors. Commonwealth Park is truly a gem in Canberra, offering natural beauty and a welcoming environment for everyone.

Commonwealth Park is such a wonderful location in Canberra. It is particularly nice at the moment due to Floriade and everything being so nicely arranged. There are many other events and there is a nice balance between nature, flowers and room to explore. Floriade is always a joy, as there are so many nice flowers, plenty of food trucks and nature to soak up. Thank you to the ACT Government in ensuring this is the annual spectacle.
Tim V — Google review
Visited Floriade. Flowers beautiful, many different activities and performances. Popular free event. They only downside I will note is there seemed to be a smell of petrol or something in quite a few areas. Not sure if it's because of power generators or the mini train doing its loops. Felt a bit nauseous as to me it was quite strong.
Kaz C — Google review
Visited the Floriade that's being hosted in the Commonwealth Park. Had a great day at the park. The flower beds were in full bloom and it was a pleasure to watch the tulips. Entertainment, food and shopping for memorabilia goes well with the visit to Floriade. Highly recommended for all age groups! There's something for everyone.
Helen T — Google review
Great location with plenty to see and do in the surrounding area all year round. Extra special when Floriade is on, with great flower displays, entertainment, food and stalls. Florida is free entry and the only thing I had to pay for was parking. Event has plenty of food options, stalls and entertainment. Highly recommend attending in the morning getting a coffee, a pastry or crape, the. Sit and enjoy one of the many great places to sit and soak it all in. Plenty to do in the area. Small museum, play grounds, restaurant over looking the lake and walking tracks.

Floriade Festival on from 13/09/25 to 12/10/25 fantastic if you’re a tulip fan, presented with extreme care and each year it will be a different theme.

Floraide 2025 We visited the Floraide Festival Canberra 2025 on the 2nd Sunday since it opened to the public. The flowers , shaped landscape and setting are all good. Although there are plenty of construction work nearby to the exhibition, traffic management and public parking are still sufficient. Booths and business people and visitors are all harmony in a pleasant atmosphere. It’s the core value and characteristics of Australian we are, we’re multi cultural communities , yeah 👍

Parliament House, the national parliament building of Australia, is a grand and symbolic piece of architecture that opened in 1988. Situated on Capital Hill, it features two axis representing the historical and legislative progression of Australian democracy. Visitors can explore the interior, including the chambers where politicians debate. The security staff are professional and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Entry is free and thorough yet efficient security checks ensure safety without causing hassle.
Visited Canberra how come we can miss this place. Had a wonderful experience of visiting parliament house and being a migrant it's very important to indulge in the history and observe the political culture so whats better then can be of visiting parliament house. Had the opportunity to watch a documentary which showed the efforts it was made to construct this amazing structure. Viewing role of various women being able to served on a higher level was very good and brief history about each elected prime minister was very knowledgeable. Saw a rare script of a constitution and how it was preserved was exceptional. Had also opportunity to visit rooftop where you can have amazing views. My kids aged 12 and 9 enjoyed a lot so overall we had a wonderful experience You can also sit in between as there are seats available in corridors. Toilets can be cleaner and parking should be more visible for the visitors.

It was a wonderful experience to visit the building where important decisions are taken and the country is run. The exhibits in the corridors and narratives besides them give an insight into the history. We visited on a weekday and there were quite many school groups. Entry is free. The building’s design aligns with Canberra’s layout, offering stunning views down the Parliamentary Triangle. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or curious traveler, Parliament House offers a profound insight into Australia’s political heart and cultural identity. Entry is free and enriching.

Australian Parliament House This image captures the modern, stately architecture of the Australian Parliament House in Canberra. The focus is on the upper section of the building, featuring a facade of white marble with large, recessed glass panels that suggest a spacious atrium or roof structure behind them. Dominating the bright blue sky is the Australian national flag, flying atop a flagpole that emerges from the centre of the building. The flag is positioned against a backdrop of scattered white clouds, contrasting sharply with the deep blue. The overall impression is one of official significance, modernity, and a very clear, sunny day—a powerful, if slightly low-angle, shot of the heart of Australian democracy. A bit grand, isn't it? Would you like any specific details about the building or Canberra itself?

Located at Lawson Crescent, Acton, ACT, Australia 🇦🇺 This museum is a MUST when visiting the ACT. It’s free entry and we also saw the Mr Squiggle and Friends exhibition which is also Free 🆓 entry. The Mr Squiggle exhibition was fantastic, brought back so many memories from watching the show when I was a child. The rest of the exhibits in the Gallery section was just as wonderful. The range of subjects is so vast and rich in Australian history. The Landmarks section was especially interesting. Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting this museum. A BIG Thumbs Up! 👍👍👍

Great museum, with many informative and historical exhibits. It's time well spent immersing oneself in the exhibits and short films that are played in the screens alongside. There are some interesting automobile exhits too. We visited on a weekday and the museum was fairly empty. A visit is recommended, especially for the young ones.

Our family had a very positive experience here. The displays were beautiful and the building is stunning and extravagant, no expense spared in any way. Very welcoming environment, we entered without booking and just walked straight in and wandered around admiring the displays. There are many interactive elements to the displays with educational snippets everywhere you look. Many fascinating things, would definitely recommend to any age. The Cafe was a pleasant suprise also, food and coffee were all good and reasonably priced.

Great day out, I love this Museum. I like the Australian history of our past and growth of Australia. We were there when Mr Squiggle display was happening. The National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra is hands down one of the best zoos I’ve been to in Australia! The zoo is huge with an incredible range of animals, and what made it even better was the number of opportunities to get up close and interact with them. We went in with no expectations (it was a last-minute decision), but it turned out to be one of the best choices we made on our trip to Canberra. I can’t recommend it highly enough! 💡 Tip: Start your visit from car park 1 or 4 and loop around the zoo at a steady pace. We made the mistake of starting at car park 2, got a little lost trying to find the aquarium, and found it tricky to navigate at first. All in all, an amazing experience and a must-visit when in Canberra!
M L — Google review
This large zoo and aquarium is popular with ACT folk and tourists. It is located on 25 hectares of land and near Canberra. It is privately owned and hence entry fees are on the higher side. It is nevertheless a good place to visit and we found that the guide map with numbered exhibits was particularly useful as you may miss out on an exhibit otherwise. Fair bit of walking around though some spots are under shade. The terrain can be uneven. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Toilets available. Cafes and restaurants available around the zoo. Lovely place for picnic. Parking is easy and plentiful though can be crowded at peak times. Best to go there early to avoid the heat and crowds. The aquarium has nice exhibits too and it popular with children. Great place for photography. Takes about 2 to 3 hours overall to visit

Loved it. I went here as a kid many years ago when they were first starting up and was very disappointed. They have absolutely exceeded my expectations this time. We spent 4 hours here with the kids. Lots of animals to see. Lots of different viewing platforms so you are assured of seeing the animals. We saw several animals being fed which was great as they were up closer. The playground is massive and many options for kids of different ages. I also loved all the zoo Art and interactive features along the way.

The zoo ia lovely witj lots to see. I came back to do the Awesome Rawsome Tour and the African Safari and thoroughly enjoyed both. We got to feed several big cats, hyenas, and so on but the highlight was patting Echo the rhino. I'm South African and have never beem so close to an adult rhino. Abby, our guide, was amazing. If you're doing the experiences, book them back to back for 20% off.

Edit (November ‘25): Attached some pictures that we took from the trip! Cool and touching facts are showed along the way - about the zoo and its previous and current animals. 😃 Original (June ‘25): Honestly a very fun and enjoyable place. The animals looked well-cared for, and the food in Rhino Cafe was plenty for the price! Also, the playground outside the cafe is great. 😁

The Canberra Zoo and Aquarium is a fantastic place to visit and definitely worth the money. There’s so much to explore, and it easily takes a few hours to cover everything. Rolled through town on our Australian adventure and we had a great chat with the woman working the information center. We shared great conversation, bought some wine, and continued on our road trip. Overall it was a great experience 🥰🥰

Be careful of the Karen working at the information centre. Had stopped here with our 3 kids after a 4 hour drive for them to let off some steam at the playground and was greeted with a less than friendly lady telling us we had to move our car and caravan. Rather than being helpful and offering more information about where we could park she just yelled and told us to move the car and took a photo of us. Wont be stopping in this town again.

Yass is one of the most beautiful towns we have been to. We initially were going to stay a few days but stayed a fortnight. The history of the town and surrounds like Wee Jasper is amazing and the people are so friendly and helpful. The buildings and architecture is well worth seeing. I do think that there needs to be more promotion of Banjo Patterson and his connection to the area. Yass is a must visit and is very Highly Recommended

Nature & Wildlife Tours
Rachel took myself and three kids through the cave system. Much bigger than I was expecting, Alot of rooms and awesome formations. She was a fantastic guide and really engaged with the kids questions and interest. Loved it You need tickets, can buy there. There is also great picnic spots and bathrooms on site. Beautiful drive to get there from Canberra.

Cave was really really nice. Pictures don't justify the beauty inside. Geoff (tour guide) however wants visitors to learn the process of how things existed which make the tour a bit longer. But he was very knowledgeable about the cave.
Angel V — Google review
The cave was better than expected with a variety of of things to see. Time from arrival to leaving was 2hrs 44 mins. Expected time frame from Geoff was 1.5hrs. Good points Geoff was very knowledgable and friendly. There was a long introduction before entering the cave. This could have been partially completed inside the cave in warmer conditions. We all learnt a lot and the caves were unique and bigger than expected. Unfortunately the tour was impacted by a family with toddlers that were very noisy and distracting for us. At times we couldnt hear Geoff. The website clearly states no children under 5 years old and I agree with this as there is a lot of information young kids would not understand and it is a long tour. Our 10 year old really liked the tour as did we.
Paul M — Google review
Went with a bunch of my friends and we all absolutely loved it. The cave is stunning and our tour guide Geoff was exceptionally amazing. Not sure why he has so many negative reviews when his passion and knowledge of the cave makes the experience a million times better. Geoff was an incredibly friendly and entertaining tour guide. We all left with a newfound appreciation for the natural world around us. The cave is also in a lovely isolated area with a reserve nearby where you can set up for a nice picnic by the lake. Would give 10 stars if I could, highly recommend!

Not only is this an amazing site to easily access but you also get tour guide Geoff. 🦇 His mix of Kevin Bloody Wilson humour with his infinite knowledge of speleology will have you and every age group in your tour engaged and entertained. Geoff is a lovely guide with such passion and knowledge. His explanation of the cave’s history, geology, and features was clear, engaging, and way more than we expected. My mum and I truly enjoyed every moment of the tour and learned a lot from Geoff. We were a bit late due to the long travel from Sydney, but Geoff was kind enough to make up the part we missed after the main tour finished. It was absolutely worth the 4-hour drive.
Ivy C — Google review
Geoff is an amazing guide, knowledgeable and passionate about caves. He shared lots of information about cave formation with us, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our group consisted of two families with four kids in total, and Geoff's engaging style kept everyone captivated. The cave itself is vast and magical, making it a truly unforgettable experience. We drove from Canberra, and it was well worth the trip. The facilities include toilets and lots of space for a picnic. Booking is essential - you'll need to contact Geoff directly on his mobile number to secure your spot.
Anu A — Google review
Definitely book ahead otherwise you will pull up to a sign with likely no reception there! Geoff did an excellent job bringing the cave to life. He provided a lot of information and includes a hands-on table that let's everyone touch all the things! Recommend planning 2 to 2.5 hours for the whole tour.

I visited to restock my father’s apricot jam supply. Love purchasing locally made and grown products. Beautiful store with all sorts of different items, I could have spent a fortune. Walked away with jam, vinegars, cherry juice and chocolate. The staff are wonderful friendly, knowledgeable and generous. Will definitely be going again when I’m next in Young.

An amazing Visitor's Centre. Excellent indigenous artefacts and a history of the restoration of the area after the 2019/20 bushfires. They also sell the best brooms from the Tumut Broom Factory which is across the road but unfortunately closed when we were in Tumut (long weekend).

The Dog on the Tucker Box

Monuments & Statues
The Dog on the Tucker Box monument in Gundagai depicts a famous 1850s bush ballad. The town offers more than just a pit stop, with its picturesque Riverina landscape and nearby attractions like artisan cheesemakers and chocolate factories. Despite some flood damage, the town is still worth exploring. Unfortunately, the iconic shop associated with the monument was recently broken into, but visitors are encouraged to show support to the owners.
A must-see ! Great story! Walk around the park and read the signs. Take in the beautiful trees and surrounds. Try not to look at the rubbish on the ground. I wonder if the restoration will happen soon? Looked through the shop. Offers light food and drinks.

It's the small tourist stop you do either on the way to Victoria or New South Wales It's sad to see the shoo all closed up and the statue looking a little worse for wear. Still a good stop to stretch our legs, however. You can buy farm-fresh apples from a shed about 200 meters away from the Dog in the Sydney direction. If you drive towards the Olivers you can also have a photo with the big koala
Ray — Google review
Had a little stroll in the dog walking area. My pup loved it, & he even wanted to get on the original tucker box for a photo op! But, he's a bit of an escape artist & there were other dogs around, a freeway nearby, & way too many people and vehicles! So that didn't happen! We got close though, & a quick snap or 3! Good to see some works in progress with the new site for the old dog 🐕 mapped out on a billboard.

🐶 The Dog on the Tuckerbox, Gundagai This is the famous Dog on the Tuckerbox Pioneer Monument, an iconic piece of Australian folklore and a major tourist attraction located near Gundagai, New South Wales. Key Features The Statue: A bronze statue of a loyal dog sitting atop a wooden box, which is a "tuckerbox" (an Australian term for a food container). The dog is looking upwards, away from the box. The Base: The statue sits on a stone pedestal with plaques dedicating the monument "To our Pioneers" and commemorating its unveiling by Prime Minister Joseph Lyons in 1932. Location: The monument is situated in a paved area, which includes a small water feature (visible in your photo), and is adjacent to a cafe and farm shop, creating a popular rest stop for travellers on the Hume Highway. The Story The statue is inspired by an old Australian folk poem, dating back to the 1850s, about a bullock driver's misfortunes. The final straw for the unlucky bullocky was finding his dog sitting on (or, in the original, fouling) his food box, or "tuckerbox," which was an essential item for pioneers and drovers. The well-known folk song, "Where the Dog Sits on the Tuckerbox (Five Miles from Gundagai)", further immortalised the story. It has become a symbol of the resilience, hardship, and unwavering spirit of Australia's early pioneers and bullock drivers, and the loyalty of their working dogs. It's one of those classic Aussie roadside stops—a bit of history, a bit of humour, and a great excuse to stretch your legs. Just don't let your own dog sit on your lunch! Would you like to know more about the poem or the bullockies it commemorates?

Have always wanted to go, I would say it’s 3.5 stars, I don’t know what we were expecting but my husband thought it would be bigger like this Koala that was also at the same spot? Westopped in Gundagai and then found dog on the tucker bog as we were leaving. Luckily there is two exits as we missed the 1st one. Lots of food places, not a lot of merchandise but it is currently about to be renovated. Friendly staff, it was good to see. There was also another good lookout on the other side of Gundagai that looked out over the whole town, worth the look if you are going through.
Emm D — Google review
A nice spot to stop for a break from driving, the statue & fountain is as you’d expect.. good for a photo! I just think they should have water fountains for dogs. I saw a lot of dogs here so I’m surprised they didn’t.

Bradmans Birthplace

Local history museum

Specialty Museums
I have seen (Sir) Donald George Bradman at Manuka Oval in the year 1963. With my school to fill the Manuka Oval as Canberra had a small population. Robert Menzies (20 -12 - 1894 to 15 - 5- 1978), Prime Minister, asked if he could 😀 play in Prime Minister 11 because he loved his cricket . Donald Bradman said yes, he comes out from retirement to play in Manuka Oval for the last time. I come from Europe and my country has never played cricket, only football ⚽️. My knowledge of the cricket 🏏 was zero. It took me a long time to understand the game of cricket and how the score counts in the cricket 🏏. We drove to Cootamundra to the cottage to see the room where the birthplace of (Sir) Donald George Bradman, at 89 Adams Street. The cottage was part home of Dr. H.M. Anderson and a hospital, on 27th August 1908 (Sir) Donald George Bradman, was born there were witnesses of his birth Nurse Scholtz and her daughter Ms Scholtz on the day. Donald Bradman's family lived outside of Cootamundra at Yeo Yeo, about 25 km (15.35 miles). Donald Bradman became age 3, and his family moved to Bowral, about 269 kilometres (167 miles). Little facts of Bradman's. The first game of cricket was at 11 for his school at Glebe Park, Bowral. Batted at number 4 and scored 55 not out. The age of 12 played for the Bowral High School senior XL. His second game, he scored his first century, 155 of the team total of 156, and he also took eight wickets. Met his future wife at the age of 12 when Jessie Menzies lived at the Bradman's house. After his wife's death in 1997. Bradman suffered "a discernible and not unexpected wilting of spirit. Hospitalised with pneumonia in December 2000, he returned home in the new year and died there on 25 February 2001. Centenary of his birth, 27 August 2008, the Royal Australian Mint issued a $5 commemorative gold 😀 coin 🪙 with Bradman's Images. To see the cottage that Donald Bradman lived at Yeo Yeo. It is in the town of Temora in the museum. Bundawarrah Centre Temora Rural Museum.

Worth a visit even if you’re not a cricket buff. Lots of memorabilia, articles and history about Sir Donald Bradman and his achievements as a sportsman and all-around gentleman. Attendant was very welcoming and helpful. There is also an adjoining cottage of old-time wares.

What an absolute credit to the volunteers that made this place happen and keep it running. Whether you know cricket or not, you know "The Don" Sir Donald Bradman. to see his birthplace..including a portrait with his parents and the midwife that delivered him. The actual room he was born in...Incredible that it is all still here for us to enjoy. The biggest shout out to the wonderful staff/volunteers who keep it open everyday and their Incredible passion. It's definitely a MUST visit. I'm going back as I was a little rushed for time and need to see everything a little more in depth.

Captains Walk

If you are a cricket fan you will love this. The Captains Walk is a beautiful walk featuring bust sculptures of all of Australia's cricket Captains. In the centre is a statue of Don Bradman, so grab a photo bowling to The Don, or try your hand at wicket keeping, either way it's a great opportunity for a photo.
Michelle F — Google review
I and my family we all like our cricket 🏏, so we went to Jubilee Park, the day is nice 👍. As we walked around,'The Captain Walk' . To see the 47 bronze sculpture at Cootamundra. The Captain s Walk was planned and executed by the Cootamundra Shire Council (now Cootamundra- Gundagai Regional Council) with the approval of the Australian Cricket Board 🏏 (now Cricket Australia 🇦🇺). The first Australian cricket 🏏 team to tour England in 1868, Captain by Unaarrimim (Johnny Mullagh), the leading Aboriginal player. Stage 1, unveiled on 30 August 1998, comprised the likeness of Unaarrimim (Johnny Mullagh). Stage 2, comprising the remaining 30 Captains, was unveiled by the sculptor Tom Bass on 27th August 2008, the centenary of Bradman's birth barely a kilometres away. Stage 3, unveiled on 12 th March 2020, brought the walk up to date with the unveiling of three new busts - Shane Watson , Steve Smith, Tim Paine.

Fantastic display & super tastefully done. Great stop off on a road trip to stretch the legs. The park where this is also has some lovely play equipment for the kids (both big and small) as well as clean bbqs & tables.

We found this gem by accident passing through on our way to Young. My hubby is a cricket fanatic and i have never seen such joy on his face as we walked through the sculptures of the cricket captains. In his words "the best stop and well worth a detour" Next to it is an awesome park for the kids. Public toilets and picnic spot. The whole town seems very cricket themed.
Betheny P — Google review
The Captains walk itself is interesting but it is also part of a great park with bbqs, shelters, playground, toilets. Great to amuse the kids whilst you appreciate the cricketing history. I learnt a few things as did my Dad and he knows way more cricket than I do. Parking is easy right out front.

Good idea for a small country town! Also encouraging for cricket fans. It is good to know a few more names and their achievements for Australia and the world of cricket. A nice short walk done in a beautiful park and they have all the basic well maintained amenities nearby!

Heaven for cricket lovers.. One of the best places I’ve ever visited in my life. Captain’s walk is a beautiful park with all the Australian Test Captains’ sculptures.. their records and stats engraved on each sculpture. Bradman’s Birthplace is about 3 minutes from here. A great historic place. People in Cootamundra are lucky to be part of this heritage. The park consists of bbq, children play area and a beautiful walking path.

Bridges
The Prince Alfred Bridge Viaduct, located in Gundagai, Australia, is a remarkable piece of historical architecture. It was constructed in 1866 and is the longest wooden bridge structure ever built in the country. Despite being damaged by floods and storms, the bridge remains in marvelous shape and offers a glimpse into past railway technology. While restoration works have closed off access to some parts of the bridge, visitors can still appreciate its beauty from lower viewpoints or by driving underneath it.
A worthwhile stop on the road. Take your time and inspect the old fashioned railway architecture. Even though the bridge was destroyed in a flood, it is still in marvelous shape and gives you an impression about what once was leading technology. Unfortunately the walkway on the intact part of the bridge is currently closed due to damages in another storm (?) The bridge can be seen in detail from a lower point of view which can be reached by a little pathway. Don’t forget to check that out.

Gundagai is a magnificent example of what is great about country Australia and in this case NSW. The town is steeped in history. Beautiful on the eye and warmth for the heart. An authentic piece of Aussie history that has resisted the maul of modernity.

So great that what is left of this huge workings is being looked after and cared for. Thank you. Good car and van parking at the end of a dirt road. There are toilets, covered eating area and a plenty of info boards leading to a great extended lookout. I walked around the ruins and totally enjoyed this piece of Australian history. Not a tough walk, but plenty of steps and very uneven.
Paul S — Google review
Walking from town across the footbridge and on the public walking track through the camp park (dogs must be on lead through the park), you come across the most amazing sculptures. Continue on beyond the sculptures, and the trail takes you to the extremely interesting Gold mill ruins. It was a good workout with a number of steps and river crossings. All up, it was approximately a 5 km return trip, and well worth the effort.

Such a magical spot for photos. Every photographer should make the effort to check it out. The angles and light is perfection and late afternoon gives the best effects. I can't wait to go back in the snow. Wow! These photos are just from my phone. The photos of my family from my 5d mk4, are spectacular. it's worth walking to the top to see the view over the mountains.

It is very sad to see all the pines are gone because of the fire! But we are excited to see the new pines growing and looking forward to meeting them in 20 years later! This is such a beautiful place but a lot of wasp....very annoying

A must see attraction within the Tumut area. It's a easy drive from Tumut and the drive itself it quiet beautiful. There are forest drives along the way that you may want to explore as well. Just be cautious of the logging trucks as they frequent the same road. Highly recommend this attraction. Also its dog friendly and kid friendly.

Incredible place, magical forest and not crowded at all! It’s breathtaking to walk among those pine trees and it’s an amazing photo spot as well! The sad thing is that they are staring to cut down the trees on the opposite side of the road, but this part is so beautiful that they don’t have plans to touch it.

I loved the coolness and quiet in the Sugarpines walk. Very different atmosphere to anywhere outside in the middle of summer. I can't wait to get up there in winter. It's very contemplative and reserved a nice escspe.

Was told about this place by a friendly lady at the Information Centre and almost didn't visit. Decided to stop off and found it well worth it. Not too far off the main road, and the size of these trees and their regular arrangement was quite the sight. Wouldn't go out of your way to get here, but if you're already going past, this is a great place to stop for a quick wander (though keep in mind, it's a forest, so there are no facilities and you'll need to take all your rubbish out with you)

I loved visiting the Junee Licorice & Chocolate Factory. Seeing how the licorice is made and turned into different products was very interesting. I was glad I did the tour. I bought heaps after partaking in much free sampling of their range. Definitely a highlight of my recent trip to Junee.

Great venue for an excursion with the family. Lots of parking on the street if the main carpark is full. It was very busy here so unfortunately we couldn’t try the cafe as it was fully booked and there were no tables. Take a gold coin with you as there’s a motor museum next door that requires a gold coin for entry.

I’m so sad I didn’t discover this beautiful place earlier! The dining atmosphere is amazing, the staff are super sweet, and the food is absolutely delicious. The best part is that you can actually watch the chocolate and licorice being made, and then buy the beautifully packaged products right in the shop. Simply perfect! I love this place so much—every souvenir was so tempting to take home. Both the products and meals are very reasonably priced. Such a fantastic tourist spot! 👍

A fun experience for the kids (and us adults too) to watch the licorice being made. A nice looking on site cafe as well as a shop with lots of licorice and chocolate choices. A walk around the gorgeous outdoor gardens with plenty of seating and photo opportunities.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a lovely visit to the Junee Chocolate and Licorice Factory! The place has such a charming and welcoming ambience — perfect for enjoying their delicious treats. We tried the strawberry and chocolate milkshakes, and both were rich, creamy, and absolutely delightful. The gift shop downstairs is fantastic, offering a wide variety of chocolates and licorice to take home — perfect for souvenirs or gifts. I also loved that you can watch the factory in action through the viewing windows, which makes the visit even more interesting. Don’t miss the second-floor shop either — it’s full of kitchenware and Crocs shoes, a fun little bonus find! Overall, a great stop for families, chocolate lovers, and anyone passing through Junee.
Hankerie S — Google review
I found the property and building very beautiful but I waited 45mins for an underwhelming hot chocolate.. being a place where chocolate was made, I expected a better hot chocolate. The place was busy so that could have been the reason….. I am in Wagga for a few weeks, so I look forward to revisiting before I leave to try the wood fired pizza and maybe give the hot chocolate another go. Hopefully it’ll come in the nice tall hot chocolate glass next time.

The Junee Roundhouse Railway Museum is a remarkable engineering marvel and one of the few operational roundhouses globally. Dating back to the 1940s, it boasted the largest turntable in the Southern Hemisphere and served as the final steam train depot in NSW. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of train carriages with informative displays and witness a diesel engine maneuvering through the roundhouse. The museum also features a large working model train set for enthusiasts to enjoy.
What a great place to step back into time and see these magnificent stream and diesel trains. The best part is that it still has a full operational round house. I believe the only one in Australia. We especially enjoyed the guided tour by one of their volunteers Lee and Dudley. I highly recommend this place for all ages. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed it, even in the winter chill. Make sure to check out their train model display. There is a little bit of history in there 😉

They’ve managed to pack a huge amount of history into a small space! The exhibitions are clearly laid out, covering many aspects of the RAAF’s presence and history in Wagga Wagga. The aircraft and items on display are in excellent condition and very well presented. The overall setup gives a real sense of what everyday life might have been like for RAAF members stationed here.

I have driven past this museum all these years and never once stopped but gave it a go this time. Well worth a stop on any road trip as it is free and run by volunteers. I noticed on previous reviews that it was mentioned they weren't open as stated. I have clarified that they open everyday 10-4 except Fridays. The planes are well maintained and the inner museum is full of history and insights. I even bought a Sluban model kit as I was leaving. Great for the Legacy charity and for a kids present.

Wow 🤩 this is THE WOW FACTOR… When first arriving into the town of Wagga Wagga. You can’t help but stop when you see big RAAF planes parked outside of the RAAF base! Inside the heritage centre was filled with interesting pictures, historical belongings and even a Morse code to learn🤩 The people in there were just the best, they told us everything we needed to know about the RAAF planes ✈️

Nice little museum for the base. Staffed by nice and friendly volunteers who make the experience quite interesting. The outside plane exhibits are very interesting to look at, but make sure that you go inside the brick building to experience all the exhibits.

A great, free museum near the airport with a nice overview of the RAAF and the role of Wagga and the region. There was a friendly welcome and explanation of the exhibits.
