had an exceptional experience today for lunch. the weather was awesome, the area was quiet and calm, the food was great. overall a incredible place to go for a drink or lunch. we had the pumpkin arancini, crumbed chicken tacos and the pumpkin salad which they happily changed the dressing to be vegan. all of it tasted fresh and was delectable. selection of beers on offer also outstanding. the ginger cider and Neipa 10/10. overall would highly recommend coming here, atmosphere and food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not easy to get to Lots of off road driving and a couple of small streams to cross Good for a snack and rest but you need to be willing to drive there. Big area for children to relax and play Good variety of beer on tap

What a fantastic winery and microbrewery. Great looking menu, good live music this afternoon. Ginger cider was fitting on such a hot day, being from Berridale there is no doubt we will be frequenting this place. Can't wait to sample the beers! Asked to review again after a visit for lunch today.....20 Feb 2022 Has it changed? Yes it has: it's now even better. Excellent food, excellent drinks and even better with margaritas now on tap! May 2023: Just keeps on getting better, beef burger and smokey pulled pork tacos were delicious.
Graeme B — Google review
Great fish tacos, great milk stout, great strong ale and a nice Reisling and Sauvignon Blanc. And the dog Sadie is the best! Lovely tasting room and delightful staff! I give it 5!

Excellent beer, Berger and beautiful buildings. Staff Friendly. Cool farm animals and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend.

New owners have arrived in January 2018, and are young, attentive and very hospitable - I had a great time. It is at the end of a fair bit of dirt road (depending on which way you come) but was definitely worth the drive. It even has a carpeted kids' room with a massive chalkboard for the young ones to draw, or chill on mats and read some books or play with toys.

Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Cafe

Mentioned on
11 lists
Cafe
Education center
The Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Cafe in Cooma is a must-visit for those interested in the history of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme. The center features a modern exhibition hall with an extensive collection of photographs, models, interactive displays, and hands-on exhibits focusing on engineering, environment, history, water management, and power generation.
The Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre is an amazing place to visit! The guide is incredibly professional and provides fascinating insights about the local water dams and hydro power stations. It’s a great way to learn about the history and engineering behind this iconic project. The entry is free, making it an accessible stop for everyone. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it’s a perfect opportunity to understand the area’s significance and its role in renewable energy. A fantastic and informative experience—highly recommended!
Jason Z — Google review
The discovery centre is not big but it gives a good overview of the Snowy Hydro scheme. The terrain model shows the scale of the scheme, with lights showing tunnels, power stations and all the lakes. The operational dashboard on the wall gives real time status of all the pumps, energy generation, water levels and so on. And finally, there is a model of the Tunnel Boring Machine that is being used in Snowy 2.0 right now. One suggestion that I have for the shop would be to have something like a commemorative coin and/or brass tokens for tourists to bring home memories of their visit.
Brian L — Google review
We visited this free to visit discovery centre on a weekday. It wasn't crowded and there were many interesting exhibits about power generation and the dam system in the Snowy Mountains. There is also a cafe and souvenir shop here.
S C — Google review
Fantastic and informative place to learn about the original Snowy Scheme. So much information and history from the original snowy scheme. You can spend hours and hours looking and reading about the snowy hydro scheme, the workers and locations that had to work in. The staff working there are super nice and helpful answering all questions. Will definitely be back as I didn’t spend enough time there the first time. Well worth the visit especially if travelling into Cooma.

My father and I really enjoyed our time here. It's great that it's free and supported by the Australian government. The coffee and cake is great so we decided to have these in lieu of the admission fee. The IMAX theatre was really excellent. I'd like to see some other film choices there as well. Great facilities, tables and chairs to have coffee inside or outside and toilets and great displays.
Neville H — Google review
Great stop over point between Canberra and Melbourne. The perfect centre to have a quick lunch and most importantly show kids about renewable energy and be amazed by how much the country had achieved in the 50s and 60s.
Kelvin L — Google review
Great place to learn about one of our biggest engineering marvels. They have two talks one is a 1975 video and the other is a presentation with some fly overs and a more modern video. Cafe has great coffee. And a selection of warm food like sausage roll, pie, quiche and then sandwiches and other snacks. Great cakes.
Brendan D — Google review
Very friendly, helpful service and some informative and fun displays. The small cafe does great toasties, slices and good coffee. We got detailed travel advice and info about must see local attractions.

Selwyn Snow Resort

Temporarily Closed
Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Ski & Snowboard Areas
Compact winter sports resort geared toward families & beginners, with tobogganing & summer hikes.
One of the best family friendly resorts. Not as busy as Thredbo or perisha but have better amenities and not so many people tripping over each other in the snow. You can ski and toboggan here and the staff were all pretty friendly.
C K — Google review
A Perfect Family Snow Trip! We had an amazing time at Selwyn Ski Resort! It’s a fantastic spot for families — our kids had an absolute blast. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the ski lessons were well run. Big shoutout to Paige, who was wonderful with the kids! Paige looks after us last Sunday for a group of 10 kids. Ski hire was much cheaper than at Thredbo or Perisher, which was a great bonus. While food prices were a bit higher, it’s understandable given the seasonal nature of the resort. The resort closes at 4:30 PM, which actually worked out well for relaxing evenings. The drive up was stunning — snow-covered and very scenic. We also found more affordable accommodation options nearby in places like Tumut. Overall, this was our best snow trip yet — we’ll definitely be back super soon! Pls list a phone number to contact you, would be very handy for people planning it for the first time, few things on the website is confusing, not very clear. Thank you

Subject: Disappointing Experience at Selwyn Ski Resort – Request for Resolution Dear Selwyn Ski Resort Management, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the experience my family and I had at your resort during our visit on the weekend of July 13, 2025. Arriving at 8.30am Unfortunately, the quality of service we encountered was far below expectations, especially considering the high cost of our visit. 1. Staffing and Operations: Given the online booking system in place, it would seem that you would have had an accurate indication of the number of visitors for that weekend. However, it was clear upon arrival that your resort was significantly understaffed. Your rental desk had five counters, yet only two or three were staffed, with minimal assistance provided to the large crowd. We had to wait for over 5.5 hours just to pick up our rental gear. By the time we were finally on the slopes, it was 2:45 pm, leaving us with just 1 hour of skiing before the resort closed at 4pm. As we had paid for full-day lift tickets for 2 adults and 2 children, this experience was incredibly disappointing. 2. Lift Ticket Machines: Out of four available machines, only one was functioning, causing lengthy delays and further frustration for all visitors trying to purchase tickets. This level of disorganization is unacceptable for a resort of your size. 3. Food and Beverage Service: At the cafe, there were only two baristas managing both coffee orders and counter service. The wait times were excessive, with a 45-minute wait for a coffee and hot chocolate, which is simply unacceptable. 4. Facility Cleanliness: The resort's toilets and other facilities were noticeably unclean, and I did not observe any efforts to maintain or sanitize them throughout the day. This is particularly concerning in a high-traffic environment like a ski resort. 5. Cashless Payment and Connectivity Issues: While I understand the move to a cashless resort, the lack of proper internet reception is a major issue. Many visitors, including ourselves, were unable to complete transactions or access your website due to poor mobile network coverage, leading to further inconvenience. In light of these numerous issues, we have clearly been misled by your advertising and charged for services that were not provided as promised. As a result, I will be lodging a formal complaint with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for misleading advertising and inadequate service delivery. Given the severe lack of service and the frustration we encountered, I kindly request a full refund for the lift tickets and rental fees pre paid for close to 4 weeks before our attendance. I hope you will take the time to address these concerns and take immediate steps to improve the guest experience for future visitors. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, Ripped off client

If your TIME is valuable, this isn’t the place for you, don’t be fooled by 5 star reviews in here. I hoped bad reviews on this were just one bad weekend, it isn’t. This place wouldn’t care about your time, ski hire queue is the slowest queue on earth - we waited for over 3hrs on a not so long queue to get the skis, and it was already midday by the time we got them. And we missed our lessons and when we tried to communicate that, they showed us others who were also in same boat and the guy at counter was like I can’t do anything about it. He offered to book a lesson for $50 😆- which I can do myself too. You’d think you are better off if you BYO skis or hire elsewhere- you are happily joining another queue to use the chair lift. If you are hungry, you are joining another queue, coffee? There’s another queue. They should change the name to Queues Snow Resort 😁 This place is greedy and will issue as many tickets passes as possible with no attention to capacity in terms of staff or facilities. Staff seem helpless, well under capacity snd unhappy. The cafe area was almost always full all day, so you can’t really find a place to sit. Toilets were ok. Locker says $10 small locker box but i paid $14 for small locker 12?7
Mahéshiká S — Google review
I don’t think it was really that affordable like their slogan says, especially the food they are selling at their cafeteria (honestly it’s too expensive and not worth it). And you gonna spend minimum 1 hour at the que for rental if you don’t book online beforehand. But it’s a good place for a first timer like me who wanted to try snowboarding or skiing. And the best part is, they have a huge parking space.
Febry D — Google review
We visited on Monday. There wasn’t much snow, but the beginner slopes were well covered and suitable for skiing. There was also a toboggan area with plastic sleds, which was a lot of fun. The café in the food court makes excellent coffee — even the decaf was outstanding! Highly recommended. The price was $8.50 for a medium cup, which is a bit steep, but the taste made it worth it.
A K — Google review
I recently organised a ski trip for a number of families. I have skied quite a lot but most of the group were beginners. I was very happy to have chosen Selwyn!! I was at Thredbo one month ago so easy to compare. Selwyn is so chilled compared to the craziness of Thredbo. There are more runs over there but you really pay for it! The cost of the lift tickets and lessons were so much better and affordable at Selwyn. I particular wanted to mention Stefan and Jimmy who taught my daughter. She learned so much more than at her snow boarding lesson at Thredbo. They they really encouraged her and before the day was out, she was all over the mountain! I also want to acknowledge those on the lifts. They were so friendly and fun! Thanks so much our entire group had a really wonderful trip and we will definitely be back!
M T — Google review
As a first timer to see the snow, I was thoroughly impressed. A 4 and a half hr drive from Sydney. We were amazed to see the difference in weather from muggy in Sydney to a downpour of rain in Jindabyne. The drive to Selwyn has you doubting that snow even exists here in NSW. It's not until you are 1 hr out from the resort that the snow and ice appear. Absolutely breath taking views. The resort is nice. I wish the machines were working out of the 6, There only was 1 which worked. Which an employee had to stand there and hand feed cards through. Also, maybe cover the kiosk machines. I was retieving 10 cards yesterday and found it hard as the place where the kiosks are placed is right bang in the middle of an air tunnel, and it's freezing. There is no cash on premises it is strictly cashless. Staff and instructors were incredibly helpful/ patient and kind. We will definitely be back again.

Every time you take a quarter turn, it is as though you are transported to a whole new place. So many beautiful pieces, so much colour and such talented decorating. Truly the magic of Christmas.
Nicole P — Google review
Have visited Bredbo Christmas Barn on many occasions over the past few years and it never disappoints. So many lovely and unique decorations that you won’t find in the large chain stores with many different themes on display each year for inspiration. The barn is family run business and always receive friendly and informative service and advice.
Melissa A — Google review
OH MY GOD! There is no other way to start this review. What a breathtaking place. I usually don't gush about places when reviewing however Bredbo Christmas Barn took my breath away from the first second I stepped in the door. We were travelling to the snow and my wife saw a sign for Bredbo which I had never heard of and she proceeded to inform me of the Christmas Barn that was there. I couldn't contain my laughter and said how good could a CHRISTMAS place be in a small country town? Well I ate my words BIG TIME. The effort the owners and staff have put into this place is second to none. It was simply amazing. Do yourself a favour and if you are going anywhere near Bredbo, go to the Christmas Barn! I could go on forever but instead tell you to have a look at the photos then go see it! We met the owner while we were there and she was an absolute delight. The products for sale are so reasonable and is exquisite quality we had to buy things and I have been informed by my wife that we'll be back before Christmas, AND I DON'T MIND!

An amazing Christmas gift place 🎅🏻…. Loved the vibes of the place….. the Christmas cinnamon and cake scented candles 🕯️🧁🍰 are irresistible too The staff is so friendly with everyone and very responsive to each customer. 🍭🍭🍭

We peeked in just for the novelty factor and can confirm that they have a Huge selection of Xmas decorations colour coordinated in themes. Looks like a good place to explore if you’re in the market for this kind of stuff.
Ourve 8 — Google review
Our long standing tradition is to visit the Bredbo Christmas barn on the way back from the snow. Never fails to lift the spirits and reawaken the childhood joy of Christmas. Their selections from around the world are just eye popping, sumptuous and glorious. They're even divided into colours and categories across a huge shop. Treat yourself if you're in the area 😊🌲
Kristina C — Google review
Incredible Christmas barn located in the small country town of Bredbo! The store itself has an incredible range of Christmas products with a big focus on ornaments. The store itself is just an incredible experience with trees and decorations setup throughout the barn. There is an incredible range here, so be warned when it’s busy space for standing and movement is at a premium! Price is generally on the higher side but this is a shop focusing on quality, not cheap imported garbage. Forewarning - there is a break it you bought it policy so keep your children close!!!

Corin Forest

Outdoor Activities
Corin Forest Mountain Resort is a modest ski and snow park that offers lessons, an alpine slide, and various activities like biking and camping during the summer. It's highly recommended for first-time kids' snow experiences, with a snow play area and toboggan slides. Visitors are advised to book in advance and arrive 15-20 minutes before their booking time. The resort provides rental options for snow pants, jackets, boots, and gear at fair rates.
We visited last week and our kids had a fantastic time! We accidentally left a backpack behind, and the staff were incredibly kind — they kept us updated and even arranged to post it back to us. The place has such a positive vibe, and the team is super friendly. The pizza and coffee were also excellent. It’s a great spot for introducing young children to the snow without needing to drive all the way to the snowy mountains. Perfect for a one-day trip from Canberra! Huge shout-out to the team — a 5-star experience from us to you!
Chakkraphan P — Google review
Corin Forest is great for young kids! 1.5 hours of play time is plenty and the rental of clothes and shoes were simple and easy! It’s a good option when you don’t want to go all the way to the snow.
Coco K — Google review
We visited Corin Forest with my family and kids during the first weekend of August, and it was an unforgettable winter experience. The atmosphere was absolutely magical – fresh mountain air, snow-covered slopes, and plenty of space for the kids to enjoy themselves. The snow play area was perfect for families, especially with younger children. My kids had an amazing time building snowmen, sliding down toboggan runs, and just enjoying the winter wonderland. The facilities were well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful, making sure everyone had a safe and fun time. If you’re looking for a family-friendly snow experience close to Canberra without the long drive to the big ski resorts, Corin Forest is a fantastic choice. We left with happy hearts, tired kids, and lots of great memories. Definitely worth visiting during winter!
Syed S — Google review
We had an absolute ball riding the Alpine Slide! We started with a lovely picnic lunch under the trees at the provided picnic tables. We then whizzed down the hill on the slide. It was great fun for kids and adults alike. Such a beautiful location and very easy to get to from Canberra.
Karen B — Google review
We had such a memorable day at Corin Forest! The three-hour road trip there was enjoyable, and arriving felt like stepping into a mini adventure. Our two mini schnauzers were excited exploring their first-ever snows 🐶❄️🐶, and it was great seeing them so happy. The alpine slide and spline slide were the real highlights—our toddler loved every second, and we adults had just as much fun zooming down. The park itself is well set up for families, with plenty of space to relax, picnic, and let the kids and dogs roam safely. It can get a little chaotic with a toddler and two dogs, but that’s part of the charm—seeing everyone so excited made it all worth it. Overall, it’s a fantastic family-friendly destination, perfect for a day trip full of laughter, adventure, and outdoor fun.

Had an amazing experience and it's my partner and our son's first time seeing snow! They had a blast! Had such a great time. Tickets were a little expensive but it was worth it all in the end for the amount of fun we all had!
Natasha M — Google review
A great intro to snowplay/skiing lessons for young children. My son had a great experience at his first ski lesson with instructor Nico. The whole wallaby group did so well that they were promoted to the big Ski Slope to finish off their time! A big compliment for Nico. It is our second time here since 2020 and things are better. We went during school holidays: Please book in advance to avoid disappointment especially during school holidays, it books out weeks in advance. My only suggestions for improvement is more staff at the ticketing booth and more changing rooms with better curtains … Good to see staff directing you at the carpark. I highly reccomend packing your own lunch and snacks and walking to the car to get them after your snow time. Picnic benches are available (weather permitting). No service with Telstra/no wifi. Hire area has gloves and other accessories for sale as we forgot a pair of gloves! Everything else can be hired.

Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve

Mentioned on

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, located less than an hour's drive from Canberra, is a haven for nature enthusiasts and families. The reserve offers guided tours, wildlife spotting opportunities, and various walking trails amidst an incredibly beautiful and peaceful setting. Visitors can explore the area's rich history through informative plaques while encountering iconic Australian wildlife such as kangaroos, mountain dragons, skinks, and diverse bird species.
A beautiful natural environment that is easily accessible and close to Canberra. There are bush land and bushwalks to explore as well grassed picnic areas and play areas for children. Highlights include the Sanctuary and Koala enclosure. I would readily return again and again to enjoy this natural wonderland. The entrance is being developed and once finished it will be a great addition to the area.
Christopher N — Google review
I think the info can be improved. Like where actually the platypus is and the koala. And the best way to see them. Understand this is not a zoo. But that's why we need guidance to enjoy the nature at its fullest. Each track can also be advertised better for its experience, using the brochure of course as it's the only information source we can depend on. Nevertheless. The place was serene and beautiful
Fufu N — Google review
Great stop in at Tidbinbilla, was passing by after the Deep Space Communications centre. Haven’t been in a few years and safe to say I regret leaving it so long, I forget how awesome this place is. Koalas eat at 1pm so they were awake. Turtles everywhere but make sure not to be too loud they get spooked and go in the water. Lots of birds, we never see any platypus though Would be great if they could get the visitor centre back as a main feature, it’s still all closed off with just an office in demountables. Really lacking that initial lay of the land info. Staff were lovely though
E — Google review
A must-visit! It’s really beautiful, with many trails for various walks. I recommend taking the one that leads to the top of the mountain for a breathtaking view! You also have the chance to see many animals, including lots of kangaroos (especially in the morning). It’s truly exciting to see koalas as well.
Mia R — Google review
This is a wonderful place. The short drive from Canberra is well worth it. We saw Bandicoots, Wallabies,Kangaroos, Koalas, a wombat, and bunch of magnificent birds. The best animal we saw was a Platypus- all of these were spotted in their natural environment. Best time to visit is just before sunset.
Tony B — Google review
Well looked after national park with something for everyone. A huge range of walks for all levels plus lots of picnic areas. We saw 3 platypuses, a southern-brush rock tail wallaby and many birds. Very quiet only a few other groups around
Ashlee D — Google review
Simply beautiful and peaceful! Update July 2025 Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve has only got been over the year's with great maintenance been done around the Reserve with more BBQ facilities available for starters With some scientific study, they have found to have twenty seven platypus playfully swimming between the ponds along with superb viewing of koalas Lots of Kangaroos can be seen with the odd spotting of some Emu's There is a great play ground for the children to play while cooking lunch at the BBQ area Toilet facilities are available also
Matt I — Google review
Lovely spot to walk around and appreciate our wonderful bushland. Walkways made it easy to get around most locations. Plenty of wallabies, kangaroos, and the odd koala, even for to see a couple of normally elusive platypus.

Parliament House, the national parliament building of Australia, is a grand and symbolic piece of architecture that opened in 1988. Situated on Capital Hill, it features two axis representing the historical and legislative progression of Australian democracy. Visitors can explore the interior, including the chambers where politicians debate. The security staff are professional and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Entry is free and thorough yet efficient security checks ensure safety without causing hassle.
Visited Canberra how come we can miss this place. Had a wonderful experience of visiting parliament house and being a migrant it's very important to indulge in the history and observe the political culture so whats better then can be of visiting parliament house. Had the opportunity to watch a documentary which showed the efforts it was made to construct this amazing structure. Viewing role of various women being able to served on a higher level was very good and brief history about each elected prime minister was very knowledgeable. Saw a rare script of a constitution and how it was preserved was exceptional. Had also opportunity to visit rooftop where you can have amazing views. My kids aged 12 and 9 enjoyed a lot so overall we had a wonderful experience You can also sit in between as there are seats available in corridors. Toilets can be cleaner and parking should be more visible for the visitors.

It was a wonderful experience to visit the building where important decisions are taken and the country is run. The exhibits in the corridors and narratives besides them give an insight into the history. We visited on a weekday and there were quite many school groups. Entry is free. A visit is highly recommended!

Parliament House in Canberra stands as a symbol of Australia’s democracy and architectural brilliance. Nestled atop Capital Hill, its iconic grass-covered roof invites public access, reflecting transparency in governance. Inside, the chambers of the House of Representatives and Senate host national debates and decisions. Visitors can explore exhibitions, watch live proceedings, and admire art collections showcasing Australia’s heritage. The building’s design aligns with Canberra’s layout, offering stunning views down the Parliamentary Triangle. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or curious traveler, Parliament House offers a profound insight into Australia’s political heart and cultural identity. Entry is free and enriching.

Australian Parliament House This image captures the modern, stately architecture of the Australian Parliament House in Canberra. The focus is on the upper section of the building, featuring a facade of white marble with large, recessed glass panels that suggest a spacious atrium or roof structure behind them. Dominating the bright blue sky is the Australian national flag, flying atop a flagpole that emerges from the centre of the building. The flag is positioned against a backdrop of scattered white clouds, contrasting sharply with the deep blue. The overall impression is one of official significance, modernity, and a very clear, sunny day—a powerful, if slightly low-angle, shot of the heart of Australian democracy. A bit grand, isn't it? Would you like any specific details about the building or Canberra itself?

Visited Parliamen house with Kids and it was worth it. Plenty of parking, easy access to entry (Free entry), Parliament session was ongoing on our visit so attended session for sometime in guest lobby. They have history of Prime Minister, native animal history , beautiful cafe inside

Dropped by Parliament House for a quick visit during our trip to Canberra. Really impressed by how grand it is and the beautiful surroundings. The building’s design is pretty cool, and I love that it’s open for tourists to explore. Nice to see democracy up close like that!

Parliament House was a great experience. I highly recommend a tour as you have time as you get a peak of areas closed to general access and the tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. An absolute must at least once in life of you get to Camberra

The National Gallery of Australia is a modern building that houses an extensive collection of Australian and international art, including a significant Aboriginal collection. It is located within the parliamentary precinct and features works by renowned artists such as Monet, Sidney Nolan, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, and Francis Bacon. The gallery also boasts the most comprehensive display of Australian art in the country. Visitors can enjoy free parking nearby and are allowed to take non-flash photos inside.
Wonderful. Open spaces , quiet and good for all, singles ,couples, groups and older children. Maybe leave the tiny tots home ( purely for your own sanity). There are many exhibitions that are only bordered by white ground lines which indicate staying out of that area. There were enough adults who were chastised by security, asking them to please move out of the area, tiny tots wouldn't be able to help themselves 😀 Great bathrooms, disability friendly. Easy access for all ability levels. A good space for those who may be sensory challenged as it was a relatively quiet space. Nice indoor cafe downstairs. Not a huge array of food,. however what was there was tasty and reasonably cost effective. All in all a lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon.

The National Gallery of Australia is such a beautiful space to spend a few hours. The collection inside is diverse and fascinating, with something for everyone, from Australian works through to international pieces. The grounds outside are equally lovely - peaceful, well maintained, and perfect for a wander before or after exploring the galleries. Well worth a visit, whether you’re into art or just want to soak up a bit of culture in a gorgeous setting. Also, highly recommend taking a hire scooter from the city, along the river and over the bridge to get here. It’s a really fun and scenic way to arrive, and adds to the whole experience.

An amazing place to enjoy the art and make mind very peaceful. It’s a large gallery with cafe and souvenir shop inside. There are numbers to follow. A great visit. Surprisingly, it’s complimentary to entry. There is a garage parking underneath.

The National Gallery of Australia offers a refreshing and diverse art experience. Compared to many Western galleries, it has fewer European works but boasts an impressive collection of American art, as well as a significant focus on Australian Indigenous art. The gallery also features fascinating pieces from Oceania, including works from Papua New Guinea—something you don’t often see in traditional Western museums. The collection is varied, thought-provoking, and definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for a unique perspective on art from around the world.

Must see in Canberra. Very unique pieces that tell their own stories across many floors. Stunning pieces of work. Toilets readily accessible, and there is also a cafe. Entry is free with some exhibits requiring a fee, but all is mentioned on their website. Overall wonderful experience.

Very good art gallery. Here I saw Monet's water lilies and many Aboriginal artworks. There are also beautiful sculptures outside the art gallery. It takes 2 hours to watch at the National Art Gallery.

A large and evocative building with national treasures on display. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The gift shop is reasonable. The café had nice lunch offers and good coffee. There is Wi-Fi access and mobile network reception. The Internatiomal section is worth a look. The aboriginal sections are a worthy effort, particularly the spears arrangement. Exhibitions are worth considering. I enjoyed the Cézanne to Giacometti exhibit. Paid parking is underneath, in the adjacent portrait gallery, or across the road.

Questacon - National Science and Technology Centre is a children's museum that offers interactive exhibits and puppet shows focused on science and technology. It is one of the must-visit attractions in Canberra, along with other notable sites like the National Gallery of Australia, Australian War Memorial, and more. The center provides an engaging experience for visitors to immerse themselves in scientific exploration.
This place is exhilarating. The amount of science projects in here is amazing. I visited with my husband and our sons 1,2 and 17 year-old. They all found something they were excited about and we spent at least three hours in this place. We even got to sit in and watch the Japanese exhibit show. I do not recommend for the ages of my children but definitely for children age between 7 and 12. Definitely visit again next winter holidays.
Priscilla R — Google review
I came here many years ago when I was at school and remembered loving it. Came again recently as an adult with some friends and it was a nice nostalgic visit. Average entry price, we came about 2.5 hrs before closing time during the week and that was a good time as most of the school kids had left and we had a lot of space to ourselves to enjoy the place. While a lot of the activities are designed for kids you can still enjoy and learn as an adult. Loved the earthquake room and the lightning simulation as well as the big slide. Gift shop not too bad, I thought there would be more cool science related stuff. Also love that there's some nice places to eat within walking distance, and plenty of parking at the venue.
Crystal R — Google review
There's something for all age groups in this science centre. The exhibits are well curated and are informative. We visited on a weekday day and there were quite many school groups. We ended up spending quite some time in the centre, as we found the experimental learning enjoyable. A visit is highly recommended!

An amazing STEM space for everyone to learn from. Every exhibit is highly interactive for all ages and cover a huge range of scientific disciplines. We need something like this in Queensland too.

Iconic science museum - I remember coming here as a kid and enjoying the earthquake machine and lighting show. They’ve still got all that and lots more now. Parking can be a bit pricey, there’s a cafe and daily shows demonstrating how fire works and the like. Great for kids under 10!

So much to see and do for all ages. You can buy food from the cafe and sit inside or outside to eat. The initial ramp you walk up to start going in different sections is quite step. We had a fantastic afternoon there
Michelle C — Google review
Really fun experience for the whole family. If you've been to science works this is far more enjoyable for a family with kids. Very interactive for everyone, lots of things the kids can do on their own without parent intervention. Staff around on a few levels to assist or do demonstrations. Normally our kids steer clear of staff who want to interact... but all these staff had a way that worked and I've never seen the kids all so engaged. I could have gone and got lunch and they wouldn't have known I left. It was great to see! Hours of fun and exploration. Lids learned lots of new things and had fun with all the interactive stations throughout. We rushed in the end as had to get out of there, I think 3 hours is probably a good amount of time to set aside if you're heading in with multiple kids.

Always a wonderful experience. Staff are all very kind and interested. They do also seem to appreciate adult guests, so don’t be discouraged to visit.

Located at Lawson Crescent, Acton, ACT, Australia 🇦🇺 This museum is a MUST when visiting the ACT. It’s free entry and we also saw the Mr Squiggle and Friends exhibition which is also Free 🆓 entry. The Mr Squiggle exhibition was fantastic, brought back so many memories from watching the show when I was a child. The rest of the exhibits in the Gallery section was just as wonderful. The range of subjects is so vast and rich in Australian history. The Landmarks section was especially interesting. Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting this museum. A BIG Thumbs Up! 👍👍👍

Great museum, with many informative and historical exhibits. It's time well spent immersing oneself in the exhibits and short films that are played in the screens alongside. There are some interesting automobile exhits too. We visited on a weekday and the museum was fairly empty. A visit is recommended, especially for the young ones.

Our family had a very positive experience here. The displays were beautiful and the building is stunning and extravagant, no expense spared in any way. Very welcoming environment, we entered without booking and just walked straight in and wandered around admiring the displays. There are many interactive elements to the displays with educational snippets everywhere you look. Many fascinating things, would definitely recommend to any age. The Cafe was a pleasant suprise also, food and coffee were all good and reasonably priced.

The Australian War Memorial in Canberra is a stunning tribute to the nation's military history and the sacrifices made by its service members. The art-deco memorial, built during World War II, houses a well-designed museum that showcases Australia's wartime experiences. The First World War gallery is particularly moving, with its detailed exhibits and personal stories bringing the enormity of the conflict to life. Visitors are encouraged to take their time exploring the historical artifacts and stories on display.
This is an informative, peaceful, and contemplative place. You can learn more about the two world wars, view actual equipment used during the wars, and read about the bravery of the soldiers. Most of the areas are low-sensory, and ample seating is available in the main hall. You'll have to go through a simple bag check before entering—no full body scanners are used here. Will try to visit again when the rest of the galleries are completed.

I cannot give a higher ranking than a 5/5. Our war memorial is simply a must see. So must history and gallantry we need to know. Beautifully exhibited. Staff are amazing. We took the free tour through the WW11 section with an amazing tour guide called Bill Arthur. He was a wealth of knowledge and simply loved the exhibits and it showed. We had such an incredible time and plan to go back soon as you simply cannot see and read everything in one visit. Simply amazing. Proud to be an Aussie.

The Australian War Memorial is an incredibly moving and beautifully curated place. It’s not just a museum, it’s a powerful tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of so many Australians. The exhibits are detailed, respectful and deeply engaging and the Last Post ceremony is an absolute must-see. A quick tip - the galleries close promptly at 4 p.m. to prepare for the ceremony, so it’s best to arrive at least an hour and a half earlier to explore everything properly. The staff are warm and knowledgeable and the grounds are beautifully maintained. A truly meaningful experience that stays with you long after you leave.
Haily D — Google review
The Australian War Memorial exceeded my expectations with its extensive and detailed exhibition areas covering major conflicts such as World War I, World War II, and the Cold War. The depth of the displays and the rich storytelling truly impressed me. The memorial itself is beautiful. The poppies adorning the honour rolls serve as a beautiful and meaningful tribute to those who served.Visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was a moving experience. The space, with its tall walls and stunning glass windows, felt like entering a grand cathedral, a place of solemnity and reflection. The surrounding grounds are immaculate, adding to the peace and reverence of the entire site. I now understand why the Australian War Memorial is so highly rated by visitors.Overall, the Australian War Memorial is a powerful combination of history, artistry, and respect, making it a must-visit for anyone wanting to connect with Australia's military heritage. It offers a deeply emotional, educational, and memorable experience that truly honors those who served.

This is a must do when visiting Canberra including jumping on to a free guided tour of the memorial. We had a lovely gentleman named Bob Davidson who was our terrific guide. Bob spoke clearly, empathetically and passionately and with that passion he kept us all engaged. Not one person from our group dropped off from the tour. I would recommend at least a full day visit here, maybe even a day and a half.

A wealth of history. Give yourself time, it is so worthy of the visit, and Poppy's Cafe is open for a meal or snack. I can't say enough about the staff at the War Memorial they are exceptional, thank you to all. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Each day around 4.30 pm the Last Post is played and one of our brave soldiers story is told. We were at two of these services recently, for two of our uncles who lost their lives at war.🕊 Lest We Forget.
Darrlyn L — Google review
Just a fascinating place...so much history on display. Excellent staff who all seem to go the extra mile to help with any inquiry you might have. Spent the entire day there and didn't get to see everything. Stayed for the Last Post Ceremony which was a wonderful way to finish off the day.
Steve W — Google review
A must see. The war memorial is a solemn and respectful place to remember those who have made Australia today. Everyone should make the effort for at least one visit to realise what war is really about. If it does not touch your heart, then you are not human. You need a day to really take your time and be thankful for what these men, women and even animals have done for this country. LEST WE FORGET. 🕊

The Mount Ainslie Lookout in Canberra offers a paved observation deck with panoramic vistas and information plaques detailing distant landmarks. From this iconic viewpoint, visitors can enjoy wonderful views of the capital city and surrounding areas, including main landmarks such as the War Memorial, ANZAC Parade, Old Parliament House, and the striking architecture of Parliament House. While there are no public toilets available at the site, it is just a one-minute walk from the carpark.
Went on the first week of September. Weather was nice. Completed the 3.4 km loop. Trail was mostly through the woods. Moderate difficulty. Didn't come across any snakes. Spotted few Kangaroos on the top. The summit got a nice view of the whole Canberra city. Worth the walk. Ample parking.

Had a stopover otw back to Sydney. It’s a beautiful vineyard. We had lunch with a glass of wine and a coffee. Price is reasonable. Even weekdays, the vineyard did attract quiet visitors. The outdoor setting is relaxing. We really enjoyed the scenery and the wine here. I’d recommend this place for a stopover near Canberra or if you’re a wine enthusiast perhaps some tastings.

Had a fantastic experience with Arran leading our wine tasting. I had always meant to stop in when driving through to Canberra and am very glad we did. This charming restaurant is set above the vineyard and is really interesting, great vibe, with wine barrels around the walls. The service is terrific and the food outstanding. We had garlic bread, then, Mains: pork belly, barramundi and seafood spaghetti. Desserts: panna cotta, crepes, raspberry & chocolate mousse cake and coffee plus one had, and loved, the Lerida Shiraz . It was a cool spring day and chilly even with heaters going so dress warmly if the temperature is under 20. Layers, people! But honestly, it was terrific. We celebrated a 50th birthday there in style and the view from the restaurant and shop/tasting area, near Lake George, is stunning. Looking forward to our next visit.

They have the best wine. Their red wine is amazing❤️‍🔥. I go there all the time. I drive 40 minutes to drink their wine. The place is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the staff are very respectful. I highly recommend going. Don't miss it. Even if you don't drink wine, the place has a great atmosphere. You'll feel like you're in an old Irish wine pub. It's like the one from Peaky Blinders. 😅 I love this place. You can explore the vineyards and how the wine is made. It's such a beautiful place. And don't forget to taste their coffee too.❤️🙏

Driven past there countless times to or from Canberra and finally made the stop for wine tasting and a light lunch and loved it. Weather was warm enough to sit outside in the courtyard overlooking pinot noir vines and Lake George was very picturesque. 2 ranges of wines their value Estate range and their higher end Cullerin with deals if you buy certain quantity. Whoever design and build the structure deserves Bog Praise. The Big Merino looks so real & majestic and it’s definitely worth a detour from the main highway to see it. It houses a souvenir shop and a free museum, it’s nice to be able to walk in that Giant.

Welcome to “Australia’s Statue of Liberty.” You’ve seen the Pyramids and the Eiffel Tower, but nothing prepares you for the majesty of The Big Merino. It’s a giant concrete sheep, complete with a wool museum and a gift shop, and yes. Seriously definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Stopped on our way to Geelong. Impressive statue. Took some snaps, had breakfast at Trappers Bakery, fuelled up and continued with the journey. Plenty of parking and other restaurants nearby. If you are planning a trip between NSW and Victoria make this place as your pit stop.

This exquisite gift shop boasts an extensive selection of items, particularly focussing on high-quality woollen garments and accessories. The shop’s commitment to Australian-made products is commendable, providing an ideal platform to procure distinctive souvenirs. The staff’s exceptional kindness and helpfulness were evident throughout my visit. While searching for a specific dog coat, I was delighted to discover the Digeridoona line. The staff kindly suggested that I bring my dog into the shop for a fitting, which proved to be a valuable assistance, especially considering the chilly winds of Goulburn outside.

Great place to stop and relax with many shops around. It was a busy corner with the traffic coming in and out from the petrol station. The Big Merino Gift Shop had a nice collection of woollen clothes, souvenirs and hand made items.

The Big Ram is truly one of a kind such a unique piece of work that you can’t help but stop and admire! It’s not just the impressive size and craftsmanship that make it special, but the whole experience around it. The location is super convenient, with a bakery for a fresh bite, a servo nearby for a quick fuel stop and even a Maccas right there if you’re after something familiar. Don’t miss the amazing gift shop — it’s packed with quality souvenirs that really capture the spirit of the place. Whether you’re just passing through or making it a special trip, the Big Ram is well worth the visit! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-See Aussie Icon!

It is a good place to stop and get some food and coffee. There is a huge statue of sheep, a tourist attraction. There is a gift shop adjacent to the sheep statue. The prices at this shop are a bit higher than normal. It also has a variety of jams and honey. Parking is not a problem. You can have a picture around the statue.

Belmore Park is a charming city square located in Goulburn, with a rich history and modern amenities. Once a major service center for pastoral land, it now features landscaped grounds, shade trees, and a playground for children. The park's transformation from a marketplace to a picturesque public space is marked by the installation of the band rotunda in 1899.
A very well laid out park. Nice war memorials, beautiful old growth shade trees and great play equipment for the kids.

Stopped by Belmore Park while visiting the court nearby. It’s a beautiful, historic park with well-maintained gardens, vibrant flower beds, and a stunning old tree that adds to its charm. The park also has a lovely water fountain and a great playground for kids. A peaceful spot to relax and take in a bit of Goulburn’s history!

Awesome park. Well maintained and reminds me of most parks in Country towns and many city parks before the developera moved in the council's decides they couldn't be bothered maintaining them.
Steve P — Google review
This photograph captures a beautiful, tranquil park setting, likely centered around a War Memorial. The statue, standing atop a dignified pedestal, is the clear focal point, surrounded by well-manicured garden beds and a low fence. The scene is dominated by the vibrant, lush green foliage of the large, mature trees that frame the memorial, providing a striking contrast to the bright blue sky dotted with soft white clouds. The intense colors suggest a clear, sunny day, making the stone of the memorial stand out beautifully. In the foreground, there are neat rows of freshly planted flowers, signifying care and respect for the grounds. Overall, the place exudes a sense of peace, history, and civic pride. It's a lovely spot for quiet contemplation and appreciation of the local heritage. Would you like me to focus on a particular element of the photo, like the memorial's design or the surrounding greenery, in a different style of description?

Belmore Park is absolutely beautiful. Whether you want to walk through the park and look at the lovely flowers beds, just sit in the shade and read a book or watch the world go by Belmore Park is the place to go. Kids love the playground area and it's very popular with families.

This is a beautiful park in the heart of Goulburn. Great place to stop for a picnic as one is driving from Sydney to Gundagai. Beautiful roses, shady. Just a lovely resting or stopping place. Cafe across the street, historical court house across the street on Montague. Plenty of parking.

A very cute and lively green park in the middle of Goulburn. Its flowers beds are filled with tiny cute flowers. Huge trees provide shades to picnic goers. Picnic tables and amenities available. Kids play ground, Arboretum and toilet facilities good.

Red Cow Farm Garden, located in Robertson, is a stunning formal garden with a large dam at its center, surrounded by trees and plants. The garden offers breathtaking views and features carefully considered design elements to provide visitors with beautiful vistas as they explore the grounds. With an array of Japanese maples and various statues scattered throughout, the garden is a delightful place to spend contemplative time.
Spectacular “English” gardens. Absolutely beautifully designed and around every corner is another wonderful experience. To top off a fabulous visit, two very friendly and lovable border collies joined us. Highly recommended for garden lovers.

This is a seasonal garden, it depends on the time of year you visit as to what you will see. It's very impressive to see the owners vision of garden rooms, hedges , paths, arbours and plenty more. Hard to believe it was a blank canvas when he started in 1992 . It's quaint and beckons you into every corner of the garden. I look forward to returning in the spring. A delightful little gift shop in one of the rooms in the historic cottage too. Parking is in the side street off the highway.

My husband and I visited the gardens today for our first anniversary. We met the owner, Ali, who was so lovely and saved our bacon by loaning us some umbrellas! Even though it was a rainy winter's day, this place is just beautiful. We spent an hour here just exploring and soaking it all up (literally). I don't think a 'bad' day exists in this little corner of heaven. We can't wait to come back for every season!

Located at 7480 Illawarra Highway, Sutton Forest, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 This was a really lovely spot to visit. The statues situated around the garden really made the visit more enjoyable because most of the flowers 🌷 were not in bloom which is tea disappointing. It would have been nice to see the garden when there was more colour. The first thing you see is the beautiful 1820’s cottage which leads into the gardens. There’s several benches situated around the garden to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The cottage has a small gift shop also. Parking 🅿️ is not the best. There’s limited parking in the next street closest to the entrance but you have to walk along the busy highway to get to the entrance. We did have a member of the group with a walker and found some areas hard to push her walker. It’s not very accessible for people with mobility difficulties. I would definitely recommend visiting during the spring to experience the full benefits of the flowers blooming. But we still had a great time. Thumbs up!! 👍 👍👍

Beautiful garden to wander around and get ideas. Autumn is a brilliant time to visit, but each season would have its unique beauty.

Amazing gardens, which appear to have a range of seasonal flora. This means it's very likely worth going at different times of the year to see different things. Didn't spot any of the red cows that are apparently hidden about the place, but I still had a great time and took a *lot* of photos (only some of which I've posted here).

We went to see this year's Tulip Time Festival yesterday and decided to travel a bit further to see this garden due to its good Google reviews. We were not disappointed. This lovely garden has the seasonal tulips as well as many other flowers and plants. It is almost flat with easy walkways, but not wheelchair friendly though.

Lovely place to explore. Great location, parking is limited but that's to be expected for a privately held garden. Honestly it is such a nice place to rediscover why weekend's can be magical. Will undoubtedly visit many more times in the future. Kind regards

High Country Trail Rides and Farm Stay

Horseback Riding Tours
We did a trail ride with High Country Horses. The horses were well cared for and a pleasure to ride. Our guide Tyler was super friendly and gave us an awesome (accidental) show when he went for a swim with his horse! The views exceeded our expectations - rivers, lupins, wildlife and more. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back!
Alanah B — Google review
Location: nice quiet location about 10-15 minutes drive from Oberon (watch out for kangaroos/wombats/rabbits if driving at dusk/dawn/evening). Oberon has supermarkets, a few restaurants/bistros etc. so is convenient if you need to buy any essentials, etc. Service: excellent - Pauline is a wonderful host who loves her animals and maintains a very well kept farm. Given it was winter she had the fire going before we even arrived. Make sure the family listens to her instructions (for safety, etc.). Pauline has taken a number of animals in which she has brought up since birth and she has a great connection with them and a real care for animal welfare. Rooms: very well kept by Pauline and her family. We had a 2 bedder and there was spare firewood ready to go and warm blankets and spare pillows etc. Kitchen has everything you need for cooking - tea, coffee, sugar and even a packet of Oreos were there as well as a large 10L water container (water is rain water so will need to otherwise boil). Note, no wifi but phone reception on every reception is perfectly fine (although it is a perfect spot to just disconnect). Room also had a large TV. Must Do’s: - horse riding: excellent for kids, etc. horses are very well kept and we saw a large mob of kangaroos up close. Kids really loved the horse ride and will be back to do the longer one. Listen to Pauline on how to guide the horses and you will be fine. - buggy ride: led by Pauline this was brilliant and kids loved this. Get to see the entire farm up close. - farm tour: this was awesome and felt like a safari with animals sticking their heads in for food. Took a wonderful video of the horses running elegantly beside/behind us (unfortunately cannot upload into review). - stargazing - so dark and clear in the night sky (make sure you get a stargazing app) - warming up in front of the fire Animals: large number of very elegant and beautiful horses, cows, sheep, goats (including Jake the goat who thought it was a sheep), emus, camels, pony (which likes being around the emus), Gingie the cat, alpacas, and the dogs Red and Bear (white dog which is very photogenic and roams around the farm) - they are very timid and lovely dogs welcoming all guests (Bear does like a tummy rub) and a large charming pig (just needs to be left alone given previous poor treatment from some guests). Pauline also has stories about each of the animals. What you need/recommendations to bring: - a love of animals - willingness to listen to Pauline’s instructions around farm/animals - food to cook (can also eat at Oberon which is not far away). - Toiletries (body wash, shampoo, etc.) - Go Pro (unfortunately forgot this but make sure you have particularly for the horse ride). - Phone lanyard (for photos). - SLR camera (phone camera probably does not give the beauty of the farm justice). - warm clothes (if in winter/chilly mornings). - if you have an EV car make sure you have a charging cable for chargers at Oberon (otherwise Bathurst is closest for chargers with cables). Overall it was a wonderful experience and a nice place to just get away from the city.

We stayed two nights over the long weekend in the two bedroom cabin. It was a beautiful experience for our family of five. The cabin was comfortable and simple. My daughter and I did two horse trail rides and loved it. We all did the buggy ride which was great fun, especially for my 12 year old sons. Pauline is very friendly, informative, hard working and safety conscious.

We booked a farm safari last minute for our group of 6 and we absolutely loved it! Michael and Kris were so sweet and helpful in answering all our animals questions and overcoming some of our camel fears (turned out Dixie and Delilah were the most gentle). The rescue animals are so well looked after by Pauline and team. We highly recommend the experience 10/10 ✨

My family and I just love visiting the farm. I absolutely recommend this beautiful property to everyone. I can’t keep my daughter away from there actually. This place has really changed my Daughters life in so many ways. The love she has for the horses is really something beautiful to see. The owner Pauline is a remarkable woman and she makes us feel so welcome. My Daughter definitely has a new role model in Pauline. We will always be back.

Had a really lovely experience doing a trail ride today. You can tell that the horses are well loved and cared for which makes the experience so much more special. Pauline was so kind, welcoming and shared her vast expanse of knowledge with us. We got to see camels, emus, goats, sheep, a pig, plus more. Absolutely magical and definitely coming back for a longer stay! Thank you Pauline!

Wonderful place to visit with lots of different animals. We are happy to stay there for 2 nights and enjoyed it a lot. Very happy to meet owner Pauline and had her taking us to horse riding and farm tour. She is very kind that she rescued different animals and help them grow in the farm. Highly recommend. It is not only for kids, we and my parents also enjoyed it a lot. (Fireplace at night and gorgeous star night is a plus :D )

My son & myself love this place so much. The cottage is nice and clean. It has everything you need during the stay. The activities we joined were great too, especially the horse riding. I never like to ride on a horse last time but now my view totally changed, instruction told was clear & the host will make sure everything is fine & safe before we set off. I feel good & really enjoy it this time. The farm is well maintenance and the farm pets are all loveable. And of course, the host - Pauline. She is friendly & responsive. She never failed to reply my queries every time👍🏻👍🏻. The only downside was we are unable to stay longer ☹️ Thanks, Pauline for making our short stay so memorable 😘

Jenolan Caves is a captivating tourist site nestled in the southern Blue Mountains, featuring 11 caves and underground rivers waiting to be explored. The ancient limestone caves offer an otherworldly experience with their expansive chambers adorned with stalactites, crystal basins, and sculptural formations. This natural wonder is not only enigmatic but also the oldest open cave system globally.
Amazing trail tracking experience, if you love adventures. A must go place for adults but if you are taking small kids, it would be recommended to take enough caution as the cave floors are slippery and the temperature is 15 degree Celsius all year round. You must pack your necessary sunscreen and anti fly sprays as there are flies all around in summer time. It is recommended to buy tickets online well ahead as it is a top adventure tourist destination.
Shamiul H — Google review
A surreal and amazing experience for visitors of all ages. Meals are served at the historic Caves House and cave tours offering access to various caves are available at all times of the *year (see note below referencing temporary closures in 2025). Australians have been touring the famous Jenolan Caves since they were first discovered in 1838 - and a tourist attraction sprang up in the 1920s that have continued to draw tourists from around the world. Lit from within using hidden lighting, each major cave has its own tour guides. The Lucas Cave tour is a popular one due to the features, as is the Cerebus Cave. Dress for the cooler subterranean temperatures, even in Summer. NOTE: *The Caves at Jenolan are presently temporarily closed (2025) to enable MAJOR ROAD REPAIRS plus the refurbishment of facilities, tracks and public access. The caves should re-open again to the public in 18 months. CONS: * Ticket Pricing can be somewhat steep, but worth it. * Caves can be cold, even during mid summer. * Previous road was narrow, single lane and precarious. * Beware of the stinging nettles in the outdoor area.

Jenolan caves a world class and absolutely beautiful attraction that is located in the iconic Australian blue mountains. It's a bit of trek getting there on the small and windy road, which can be a little bit sketchy at times, but it is absolutely worthwhile. The area has many different caves for every type of adventurer and when you drive in, you drive through a massive open cave that dwarfs even the tour buses that pass through. It also has a wonderful German architectural theme due to its founding by German explorers and my favourite part is that it is always a perfect temperature of around 17°C inside the caves.
Andrew S — Google review
Absolutely fantastic experience at the Imperial caves tour and left us wanting to do the other tours as well. Our guide gave us a lot of interesting facts and kept us all engaged throughout the tour. Plan to be at the barrier point (from where the operator vehicle escorts to the caves) at least an hour in advance. Park and walk or take the shuttle. The walk to the caves is easier than the walk back as it's mostly downhill. View of the blue lake from the walking path is amazing. Can't wait for the lake boardwalk also to be complete. Restrooms at the parking spot and near caves entry. Cafe near the caves entry serves quick eats. Toast / ready to eat items get served faster.
Prashanth N — Google review
A great experience!! I've been a few times. Explored many of the several caves they have. I plan on going here again. Wasn't far from here, in a small pond, I got to see my first platypus in the wild. I'm told this is a very rare occurrence.
Kyle C — Google review
Please purchase a tour ticket before you head out there, especially during school holidays and public holidays, seen too many people regret on the long hours drive for not be able to tour the caves. It was very nice experience with our tour, our tour guide Jaime was superb. Highly recommended for family bonding, fun activities.
Lenny N — Google review
Went here on a trip with friends in May 2023. We chose to do two caves, the orient cave and imperial cave. The imperial cave was a wide cave, nice crystal formations but the highlight for me was the underground river the the turquoise water, that was amazing and looked so inviting. Of course no one is allowed to swim in there to preserve its beauty. The orient cave was truly beautiful. Compared to the orient cave, the crystal and rock formations here are truly stunning. The guide was also very knowledgeable and creative, pointing out formations and what they resembled. The kids on our tour loved that as they were also able to use their creative minds to form images of the formations. The drive accessing the caves at the moment is long and tedious due to several road works and closures in the area. There is a point where you will be prompted to stop and follow their vehicle down the steep and narrow road drive. There is ample parking in the area. Overall a very unique experience and I would be happy to check out other caves again (maybe once the road works are completed).
Camille J — Google review
We recently visited and did the Chifley Cave tour, it was great with an amazing and enthusiastic tour guide who gave lots of information regarding the caves, including scientific explanations on formations, as well as stories about their discovery. I highly recommend this visit and loved the entire experience! The tour is also not rushed at all so you have plenty of time to take it all in, take photos and ask questions. Book in advance as it was super busy and we were lucky to make a spot! When we went the road was closed for several km's and required a one way escort, it's fine only adds 20ish minutes but I recommend going early to ensure you are on time - there is a nice cafe with plenty of bits to eat + coffee so you will be comfy if you have a wait. Better to way and enjoy a brew than be late!

Mayfield Garden

Nature & Parks
Flower-filled green space with a water garden, grotto & tree-lined valley, plus giant chess.
I’ve been here 2 times now! What I always love about this garden is how big it is and how pretty all of the colourful trees. Would recommend to come during normal weekdays. ‘cause last year when I came, it was super busy because of school holiday (you won’t be able to take picture freely). I would also recommend to come earlier in the morning so you can really enjoy the entire place (follow the map!). Bring your own food and picnic mat as well!

Amazing well kept grounds. The autumn colours were gorgeous! The different sections made wandering around interesting. Although a bit pricey for entry to a garden, I can understand how expensive it would be to maintain such a place. I would love to see the garden again in springtime.

Absolutely stunning gardens with breathtaking views all year round. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with so much to explore – from the formal gardens and hidden pathways to the water features and the lake. It’s a peaceful and relaxing place, perfect for a day out with family or friends. A place where heaven meets.

It is a spectacular 65 hectare private garden that is open to the public. It is considered to be one of the the largest and most spectacular cool climate gardens in the Southern Hemisphere. It has sprawling gardens, maze, chapel, stumpery, aviary, garden rooms and every other feature across the garden. Popular place, need to go early to avoid the heat as well. Fair bit of walking around, some under shade. Uneven terrain, lot of walking on paved pathways mostly. Popular with tourists and locals. You can spend several hours here depending on your interests. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Toilets available. Restaurant available at main entry/exit point. Beautiful place. Lots to see. Parking is easy at off peak times. Great place for photography. You can book ready installed tents for overnight stays.

A very wonderful place to visit. We went there Autumn season. The weather was perfect and the plants are vibrant. I suggest coming early to secure parking. We were not able to do the maze simply because we have a pram and a 2 year old with us. Nonetheless, the experience was worthwhile.

There was a lovely woman and a kind man at the café—maybe the owners or staff—and both were super friendly and welcoming. I asked for my coffee to be really hot, and they nailed it! (Not everyone gets that right.) The atmosphere was so cozy and peaceful. We spent around two hours walking in the garden, and had a great time with the kids. Thank you so much for your genuine kindness and warm smiles. ☺️ I absolutely recommend this place!

Lovely cool climate garden. Will be spectacular a little later in the spring, and stunning during autumn. Cafe on site, staff friendly and helpful. The Three Sisters walk is a must-visit in the Blue Mountains, located near the quaint town of Katoomba. This iconic landmark features three weathered sandstone peaks steeped in Aboriginal legend. The walk offers stunning views of the rock formation and surrounding landscapes, including Lincoln Rock with its epic mountain and valley vistas. A visit to the Blue Mountains promises an unforgettable experience with its Aussie bushland, wildlife, and rich cultural heritage.
The Three Sisters Lookout offers breathtaking views that are absolutely worth the visit! The scenery is stunning, with panoramic vistas of the iconic rock formation and surrounding valleys. The area is well-maintained, and the viewing platforms provide a perfect, safe spot for photos or quiet reflection. Whether you're a tourist or local, it's a memorable and inspiring experience. Don’t miss it!

The place is beautiful! The hiking trails are very well marked, but unfortunately some paths are closed. There are lots of viewpoints where you can admire the mountains! The only downside is that buses full of tourists come and go. So the entrance is crowded, but as soon as you venture off the beaten track, there's no one around!

The cascading water creates a soothing ambiance, contributing to the overall tranquility of the location. This is a destination that captures the essence of a perfect escape, offering a harmonious blend of adventure and serenity.

Visiting the Three Sisters in Katoomba was such a magical experience. The moment we arrived, we were completely amazed by the breathtaking mountain views and the calm beauty of nature. My family and I also took a ride on the Scenic Railway, which is said to be the most inclined railway in the world, and it was such an unforgettable thrill. The air was fresh and crisp, and the weather quite cold, so a warm jacket is a must. It’s truly one of those places that makes you stop and appreciate how stunning the world can be.

Windy as usual but does not detract from the amazing views. Greatly improved access since our last visit pre Covid with adequate platform viewing even with a couple of coaches of visitors. There is a small paid parking area or look for off street paid parking. Can get a hot drink, meal or souvenir at the Lookout Echo Point plaza 5 min walk from the Three Sisters.

The Three Sisters is an iconic rock formation in the Blue Mountains National Park near Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia. These imposing sandstone peaks—named Meehni, Wimlah, and Gunnedoo—tower over the Jamison Valley, providing one of Australia's most spectacular and photographed views, especially from the Echo Point lookout. You will have a great time if you visit here. You can drive or use public transport. The location is very convenient. There are restrooms in case you need to use. I have come here so many times and every time I am here I get mesmerised with the beauty and the great views of this place. Highly recommended!!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Echo Point Lookout, also known as Three Sisters, is a must-see attraction in the Blue Mountains. The legend of the landmark tells the story of three sisters turned into rock to protect them from tribal war. Despite being busy, it offers unique and stunning views of the Three Sisters rock formations, valleys, and canyons.
First Impressions & Scenery Echo Point is one of those places that really lives up to the hype. From the lookout you get jaw-dropping views of the Three Sisters — three sandstone rock formations rising from the cliffs, set against the vast sweep of the Jamison Valley. Especially at sunrise or sunset, the light plays beautifully on the cliffs and valley, giving dramatic hues. On clear days the panorama is exceptional. --- Accessibility & Amenities The lookout is very accessible. It’s easy to get to by car or public transport (train + bus from Katoomba) without needing a big hike just to see the view. There are good visitor facilities: an information centre, restrooms, cafés/snacks near the site. There are multiple platforms and viewing points at different levels, so even if one spot is crowded, you can often find a slightly quieter vantage. --- The Walks & Related Experiences If you’ve got time, there are several walks starting or connecting through Echo Point: The Three Sisters Walk: relatively short, family‐friendly, gives a closer perspective of the rock formation. Prince Henry Cliff Walk: more extensive, scenic, passes many lookouts. Giant Stairway: more strenuous, descending into the valley (and rising back). Good for more energetic visitors. --- What’s Great Iconic views — this place is one of Australia’s classic outlooks. If you're visiting the Blue Mountains, this is sort of “must-see.” Very manageable — you don’t have to be super fit to enjoy big parts of it. Great for casual visitors, families, day-trippers. Good infrastructure — viewing platforms, visitor centre etc make it comfortable. Atmosphere — when it’s clear, and especially early morning or later afternoon, the sense of scale, mist, light, the eucalyptus forest below, the vast valley — it all works together.

A soul-stirring experience at Echo Point! Echo Point is simply breathtaking — and if you venture just a little away from the main lookout, it becomes magical. To the left, the Three Sisters Walk offers close-up views of these majestic rock formations and the endless blue horizon. To the right, the Lady Darley Viewpoint trail rewards you with peaceful, panoramic views — far from the crowds, where you can truly feel the stillness and grandeur of nature. It’s a place that humbles and uplifts at the same time. Take your time, breathe in the mountain air, and let the view remind you just how magnificent Allah’s creation is. 🌄✨

Echo Point Lookout is absolutely stunning! The view of the Three Sisters and the surrounding Blue Mountains is breathtaking — especially when the mist rolls in. The weather was cool and refreshing when I visited, which made the experience even better. It’s a great spot to take photos, breathe in the mountain air, and just enjoy the view. There are also cafes and souvenir shops nearby. Definitely a must-visit in the Blue Mountains! 🌿⛰️💙

Following an invigorating trundle along the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, we found ourselves at the Echo Point Lookout. We were dropped off by the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus at Stop 9, then walked through to Echo Point. The walking trail was easy to navigate and could be completed at a leisurely pace. The scenic lookouts along the way of the Blue Mountains were well maintained and safe. Brilliant views of the mountains and valleys were had. Once at Echo Point, the crowds were evident, but not burdensome. The view of the The Sisters was spectacular. If one is able and fit enough, it is well worth the effort. Set aside a day of your holiday for this adventure walk.

Great view.. such a beautiful place to visit.. you can come here with your friends, family or with your loved ones. You can come here by yourself and still have a wonderful time. If you don't want to drive, you can catch public transport as well. There are restrooms available in case you need to use. Highly recommended!!

Echo Point Lookout ia a great place to stop and look at the Blue Mountains and in particular Three Sisters. It seems always busy here as you would expect. The viewing area is suitable for everyone, including anyone with mobility issues. There is also a tourist information Centre and good amenities for all.

This location is incredibly easy to access and very walkable, offering stunning panoramic views in every direction. There are two levels that provide perfect vantage points for taking incredible photos. The area is well maintained, with clean and easily accessible restrooms conveniently located on-site, making it comfortable for visitors of all ages.

Beautiful view to start the hike/walk. The hiking was nice, safe (i.e. paved) trails, majestic plantation. I went once in summer, once in winter...winter can get cold so bring a winter hat. Walk to Echo point is about 30 minutes from Katoomb station, and ther is a gradual incline, so if you have bad knees, take the public bus (it's clean, cheap, and efficient). Worth the train ride from Sydney)!

Scenic World, located in the Blue Mountains Katoomba region, offers three main attractions and a 2.4 km walkway for visitors to explore. The railway boasts the steepest descent in the world, while the aerial cable transport drops 545 meters into the gorge. With an exploration pass, visitors can spend a whole day navigating the National Park and seamlessly transition between attractions.
It is a lovely drive into the Blue Mountains and it is our first time visiting. Scenic World was a great experience for the different views you get from the 3 rides. You just get a different perspective of the many natural wonders that the Blue Mountains presents. We rode each of the rides multiple times as you seem to notice more things each time you ride. We didn't get anything to eat while there as we brought food along but the cafe and restaurant were both busy each time we passed. A nice touch is that there a few water stations scattered around where you can fill your water bottle for free which is great as you hike around. All up, we all enjoyed ourselves and had a great day out in nature with some absolutely stunning views. Can highly recommend.

Outstanding day out! First of all, the staff are the nicest staff I've encountered, so welcoming from the moment you arrive. (Thank you Dominique for easing out little one into the excitement) The coffee from the Cafe was delicious. So much to see and explore, the dinosaur Valley was well worth the cost of a ticket. We drove from Queensland specifically for this and I would do it again and again! Absolutely loved and so did our dinosaur mad little one. One Day we will cherish.

Scenic World in the Blue Mountains is a fantastic place to visit. One can easily spend a day viewing the spectacular scenery and walking through the valley floor rainforest boardwalk. The funicular scenic railway was an amazing experience. It only travels for a short time, but it is very spectacular. Once in the valley, one has the opportunity to walk through a wonderful rainforest. The many sign boards explain not only the history of the location, but also features of the flora and fauna. During our recent visit, the Dinosaur Valley display was available. This was a real treat. The children present loved it. The mainly young staff were very friendly and helpful.

Scenic World is an amazing experience! The cableway, skyway, and railway all offer stunning views of the Blue Mountains. The air was cool and refreshing, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Everything was well organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Even though it was a bit cloudy, the view was still beautiful. Definitely worth a visit!

We visited Scenic World on a weekday and had such a lovely time. The cafe and gift shop were both great — I especially loved the gift shop and ended up buying a few dinosaurs. The walk through the Dinosaur Valley was wonderful — refreshing, with plenty of fresh air and lifelike dinosaur displays along the way. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole experience was beautiful and enjoyable for all age groups.

Excellent tourist attraction with magnificent views. The railway and two cable cars give you the opportunity to see the spectacular Blue Mountains . All amazing experience . Parking is easy ( only suitable for cars under 2 metres ) Book tickets on line and aim to arrive at opening time . We had no wait and the staff were all friendly and helpful . Lots of great walks suitable to all fitness levels . We stayed in Cranebrook about an hour’s drive from Katoomba .A very scenic drive to get there and not as busy as Katoomba .

Great day out for the whole family. Lots of different cafes with alcohol to enjoy the terrific views with. Only downside is there are a lot of tourists (can you blame them?). Would try to get there earlier in the day potentially? Either way it’s a great experience overall. :)

The Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum, situated in the Methven Street, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone intrigued by military history. Established in 1912 as part of Australia's effort to become self-sufficient in defense production, this museum is housed within the former precision engineering factory. It played a crucial role during both World Wars, manufacturing rifles and machine guns. The site now hosts an extensive collection of civilian and military firearms, making it one of the largest in Australia.
Went to the small arms factory in February 2024. I was so impressed with the collections and exhibition of these delicate machines and fire weapons. Just noticed the recent break-in, it's obviously outrageous. Hopefully, these valuable guns will be recovered soon, and I really want to visit the museum again.
Licheng S — Google review
Amazing museum showing a nationally significant collection of firearms - but also the local history of metal fabrication n the same factory including intricate and amazing metal objects such as sewing machines, handcuffs etc. The volunteers running this place were super friendly and were very well informed. This museum should have more significant financial support from the federal and state government and Thales. If they only got 0.1% of Canberra's War Memorial budget they would be very safe and secure into the future. Support this museum in anyway you can!

About 10-15mins walk from the train station. Very nice people that'll greet you up front. Artefacts are organised. They have very interesting items on the gift shop, useful for camping. I enjoyed the stroll around since I was addicted to action games such as PUBG MOBILE and CALL OF DUTY MOBILE that involves guns. Very intriguing to see them guns up close, especially the small pistols☺️. There were some war propagandas that reminded me of essays back in high school, made me sit there and analyse a little bit😆. Seeing them old switchboards and communication equipment blows my mind, seeing them up close just made me curious with how much it changed after a century. I'm an apprentice sparky so I showed them to the people I worked with and they're intrigued aswell. Would love to come back and have my family to tour.

Excellent collection !! Good history of the factory and memories ! Can’t believed there were 6000 employee working on site back in the old days and they’ve kept it well ! Helpful and friendly staff.

If conditions are not good for climbing in the mountains come down to Lithgow and support this museum by paying a visit. Kerry and Keith are fantastic tour guides and have considerable knowledge of the museum and its displays. You don’t need to have a particular interest in firearms. If you have any interest in Australian manufacturing, machinery or history you will enjoy this museum. Thales and Lithgow council need to support the important work these individuals are doing and prevent the loss of an important part of Australian history.

EVERYONE needs to come here. It is excellent and I believe will get better. The details around the history of the site and the manufacturing that occurred here is great. The volunteers there really care about the information and what they are doing. It is done really well and is very interesting. The gun collection has is amazing in Itself but the history of manufacturing that occurred here is amazing. This was at one time the largest small arms manufacturing factory in the southern hemisphere. They have set up as many old pieces of machinery that they can and intend to get some of them working - this is an amazing piece of history and should be HERITAGE listed. A great visit for anyone - get out there - take your children, take your mother - take your wife.
