Nature & Parks
Blue Lake is a freshwater lake with wooded shores that holds religious significance for the Quandamooka people. The lake can be reached via a mining road from Dunwich leading to the national park car park on the right. There are several sandy tracks leading to Blue Lake, including the Kaboora walk which takes about 45 minutes each way and offers stunning views of heathlands and wetlands. Visitors can also enjoy walks to Brown lake or take in scenic lookouts beyond the lakes.
Drive the mining road starting at Dunwich to the national park car park on the right side. Great walks. Take the Kaboora walk to Brown lake and on to Blue Lake. Only took us about 45 mins walk each way through beautiful surroundings with heathlands and wetland views along sandy tracks 3 choices of tracks to reach Blue Lake. Carpark area has orientation info of the various tracks to Brown and Blue lakes and lookout beyond.

Absolutely loved the experience. I chose to enter via the Kabul trail - 1KM of uphill switchbacks to the Jarlo intersection but then follows the ridge down to just north of Kaboora itself. Beautiful country that continually changes with elevation in a short space of time. Keep your eyes down for snakes (saw a few) and up for spider webs - the Orb webs are impressive but a bit sticky if you become entangled in one. The Quandamooka respectfully ask that you do not swim in the lake, you can head to Brown Lake up the road if swimming is your thing. Heading out the main Kaboora trail was a little anticlimactic after the beauty of Kabul but it wasn't as demanding.

Awesome spot for a swim. Crystal clear water! Quite a hike from the car park but worth it for a fresh dip on a hot day.

“Splendid, superpower” - N “Serene, with few hikers along the trek, beautiful, but remote trekking path - you get to see the blue lake at the end of it” ~ Brandon “ it was spectacular, we enjoyed hearing the birds chirping and finding branches along the way. Many good benches and i enjoyed the view and the moment. I can smell the freshness of the forest and enjoy the interaction with other hikers” ~ Brian “I enjoyed not knowing where we were gonna end up, it was a very leisurely hike and had a great holiday vibe along the trail” ~ Jessie

We enjoyed our walk to this lake, it was quiet with pretty scenery. A bit disappointing to see some people swimming in it, it is a sacred aboriginal spot and clearly signed not to swim. Also worth mentioning that we saw two pythons on the track we took via the hills so be careful if you visit
Hannah W — Google review
A pleasant walk, not busy. The park ranger we met was very friendly and explained they have built a new Easterly section of track that rises up to a lookout. Something to try next time. Brown Lake is better if you are looking for somewhere to swim.

Sirromet Winery

Winery
Food & Drink
Sirromet Winery, a family-run establishment, is a popular destination in Brisbane offering tours, tastings, events, and a Tuscan restaurant with outdoor seating. It's known for its picturesque setting with rolling green pastures and live music events. Visitors can enjoy picnics on the lavender hill, take winery tours, or savor Tuscan-style lunches on the terrace.
A Perfect Family Day at Sirromet Winery Sirromet. Winery is an absolute gem! The setup is stunning with panoramic views and a relaxing atmosphere. We dined at the Tuscany Terrace and everything from the antipasto to the lasagna was delicious. The starters and sides paired perfectly with the red Shiraz we ordered. After our meal, we took a walk through the beautiful grounds and spotted several wallabies and even a few joeys — such a treat for the kids! It’s a fantastic spot for a family outing or gathering. Great food, great wine, and a truly memorable experience. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

This review is for the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience. The experience was wonderful and I had a lovely evening. The sound effects and visual were great and the experience did feel magical. My only let down was the pricing. The experience was very expensive, which didn’t even include increased pricing on weekends, the parking at the venue, and the food/merchandise at the event. I went alone, but even on a comfortable income would have had a hard time taking a small family to the event, as the cost was just so high. I think it could be made more affordable so that it could be more accessible to young families. For example, a cup of butterbeer (soft drink) in a Harry Potter plastic novelty cup was $25. The drink without the cup was $12. This was unnecessarily expensive for the cup of soft drink and the novelty cup, which parents may want to treat their kids to.
Hannah B — Google review
Sirromet is absolutely stunning – the location and atmosphere are second to none. The wine tasting was the real highlight: informative, well-organised, and the wines themselves were excellent. The food, however, was just average. Dishes were okay but nothing memorable, some lacked seasoning and overall didn’t live up to the standard set by the wines or the setting. Service was polite, but the 3 course lunch experience felt underwhelming given the reputation. Worth visiting for the wines and the views, but I wouldn’t come here just for the foods.
Giuseppe S — Google review
Beautiful location and facilities. The stay and dine tour was great value. The tour was basic but enjoyable and nice to try the varieties. The accommodation and grounds were great. Surrounded by local flora and fauna. However, the dinner and breakfast were a bit underwhelming considering the calibre of the venue. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay and would recommend it, especially the package.
Sean B — Google review
We celebrated my husband’s birthday here yesterday — our first time dining at Tucan Terrance . The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff provided excellent service, definitely full marks from us. We tried the fish of the day and the lamb shoulder. While the flavors weren’t particularly remarkable, the dishes were still tasty and enjoyable. A small suggestion: the lamb shoulder could come with a few more vegetables on the side. Overall, a very pleasant experience!

Disappointing Stay at Sirromet Winery – Poor Service and Lack of Hospitality My stay at Sirromet Winery yesterday was, unfortunately, a frustrating and disappointing experience, marred by consistently poor service and a lack of basic hospitality across multiple touchpoints. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were unhelpful and unwelcoming. Checking in felt like an inconvenience to them, with no effort made to provide basic information about the property. Instead of being offered guidance on facilities, we were left to fend for ourselves, as were other guests who appeared equally lost. This lack of direction set a poor tone for the stay. The service issues continued at the restaurant. When attempting to make a dinner reservation, we were curtly told it was "full," only for a table to magically become available after we mentioned we were staying on-site. This reluctance to accommodate guests was frustrating and made us feel like an afterthought. The cellar door experience was equally disappointing. During a wine tasting, we were provided with dusty glasses, one of which had a chipped rim. After pointing this out, the wine had to be re-poured, likely due to contamination from a polishing cloth. Additionally, when asked to choose a drinking cup, we found every cup in the tray was dirty, which we had to demonstrate to the disinterested staff. After a long day we went to bed, the rooms are pretty good and clean, however the noise from the event next door kept going past 10pm, and finally they turned of the loud speakers at 10:50pm. Another thing that would of been nice to know from staff, hey guys just so you know expect it to be super loud up till almost 11. At least we would be expecting it. At breakfast, the wrong food was delivered, forcing one of us to wait while the other ate, further highlighting the staff’s inattention to detail. Basic customer service was nonexistent across the board. Simple requests felt like pulling teeth, and the staff’s attitude suggested guests were an inconvenience. While a large event (Harry Potter) was happening, this did not excuse the failure to deliver on standard hospitality expectations, such as clean glassware, accurate food orders, or clear communication. For a venue marketed as a premium getaway, Sirromet fell short in every way. We witnessed at least four occasions where different people stopped their cars, rolled down their windows, and asked us for directions to reception or parking. A group of about 15 people was seen wandering aimlessly down the road past the sanctuary until Harry Potter event security directed them toward the winery. Seeing others struggle with the same lack of assistance amplified the poor vibe. Good luck getting return customers, as the customer service culture at this winery is far from what it should be. Does Sirromet have any staff to coordinate events or manage busy times? If there was someone at the property entrance with a smile, offering basic information or guiding guests, perhaps even an information desk, our perspective on the stay might have been different, as the grounds and product are quite nice—just badly managed and coordinated. If you’re staying here for the first time, especially during a busy period, expect to spend a few extra hours wandering aimlessly to figure the place out, as staff assistance is virtually nonexistent.
Lucas H — Google review
We had a Stay and Dine experience which included the wine tour and tasting, dinner, accommodation and breakfast. Every aspect of our stay was wonderful, including staff, food and facilities. A beautiful place to stay for a special occasion or just to get back to nature.
Cathy H — Google review
Visited this winery today with friends. The setting is absolutely beautiful, especially on a sunny day like today — the views and overall atmosphere were lovely and relaxing. However, we were a bit let down by the lack of warmth and hospitality from the staff. It didn’t feel as welcoming as we had hoped, which took away from the overall experience a bit. We did the $35 wine tasting tour, which was okay — not amazing, but fair for the price. A few of the wines were enjoyable, though nothing really stood out. All in all, it’s a pretty place to spend some time, but we were expecting a bit more in terms of service and overall experience.

Redcliffe is a lovely place..We started at the Rsl for lunch then went for a walk on the jetty..It was great to see all the teenagers enjoying themselves jumping into the water..Then over to Bee Gees Way..How great is it..There are statues of them and information galore..There is seating so you can watch the short movie..I'm amazed how they can have all this and it's not vandalised..Must be a fantastic community..Lots of lovely shops..There is a English fish and chip shop that we'll be returning to next year..I did get a ice cream in the Big kids ice creamery and some English lollies in the confectionery shop..I'll be back..

The village offers a hands-on experience for visitors, especially children, with historic homes and buildings set up as they would have been in the past. Take a journey back to the 1800s and discover the rich memories of a bygone era. Let your imagination soar as you explore a town filled with love, laughter, and the challenges of everyday life. Step inside the homes where families were born and generations thrived. Explore the tools and household items that were once essential for daily chores, and gain a newfound appreciation for the conveniences we often take for granted. Visit the police station, situated right next to the jail, and delve into the poignant stories of those who spent time within its walls. There's an incredible amount to see and learn here, showcasing the dedication and passion that has gone into creating this extensive collection—one of the finest historical destinations I've encountered. When you need a break, hop on a train ride or relax at one of the many onsite cafes for a refreshing pause. As you stroll through the grounds, you'll be surrounded by abundant nature and a variety of birdlife. While some areas offer lovely shade, it's wise to bring a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle to stay comfortable. We called in here simply to fill in time on our way to our next destination, and by gosh were we glad we did. What an amazing day out. To the people who take care of this place, hats off to you. We loved looking around at all the history, got chatting to some lovely people who take care of this place. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. Great seeing people preserving history.

Great Museum to come and visit. There is plenty of history to be found here. One can spend a couple of hours here checking out everything. Definately a must see, if one gets the chance and is in the area.

One of the best places I’ve been too I needed way more than 90mins coming back for a second visit soon. This time starting in the morning so if I take all day brilliant. Well worth the trip and please take your time there to really enjoy the moment. So much to see and explore it’s like a whole town plus some more.
BulldogsAndDolphins — Google review
An atmospheric mix of old houses and businesses set up as they would have been and buildings housing vehicles and tools of yesteryear. Everything is really clean and in good condition. The fountain and planting are really lovely too. There are two cafes but both were closed when we got there at 1 pm on Sunday and the train wasn't going either, I think we were the only people there as we didn't see a soul for the three hours we were there, except the receptionist who was very nice. I suppose this just happens sometimes as it's staffed by volunteers so just remember to take some snacks and a drink in case. Definitely wear plenty of mosquito spray, I did and still got bitten 4 times. Big thanks to the volunteers, we learnt a lot and will remember it, it was a really good day out.
H D — Google review
We paid $15 entrance fee each into the village, and I don't think it was overpriced. A lot of care has been taken to give a real old fashioned feel to the village. Some great interesting houses with stacks of information and background. Made for a couple of enjoyable hours.

made my mom really happy to go there! it was so hot on the day we went so we did the tour faster but still enjoyed it. the little café has really cheap option, the jewelers are so nice and the candy shop lady as well. nice morning spent there :) definitely recommend to learn a bit of history.

There are SO many offend places to enjoy along this marvellous street. From bakeries, to restaurants, to gift stores, to artisans, there are many options of places to eat or be inspired. We stayed at a place on this street and didn’t drive anywhere for 4 days. We dined at so many different and interesting places and had the most wonderful time for our 34th wedding anniversary. If you’re here for a day, part of a day, or a few days, you will leave with a smile, a spring in your step and a satisfied belly.

The hub of the area, busy and busier. Lots of see, some good, some great and some not so much. Something for everyone, but my favourite is the Christmas store. Finding parking can be difficult but you should stop nonetheless and soak in the local vibe.
Marcia B — Google review
What a beautiful walk. Stunning scenery, flowers, shops and restaurants. It was lovely to meander down and check out all the stores with candies, fudge, clothes and food. We were lucky to find a carpark everyday on the weekend we were there , but it does get super busy so may be an issue sometimes.

If you appreciate crystals and enjoy the pleasant weather, you'll definitely like this place. It offers great sunset viewing spots nearby, which add to the overall experience. The gallery walk is a delightful option for those who appreciate nature's beauty and crystal enthusiasts alike. The shop owners are very friendly too. Parking is a problem though, there’s a car park at the end of the road but it’s always packed. I usually head up around 2 or 3, lesser crowd. Sunset Recommendations are Rotary Sunset Lookout and Syd Duncan Park Lookout

If you're looking for an exhilarating family outing, Kingston Park Raceway is the perfect destination nestled conveniently between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This thrilling venue boasts over 100 go-karts and three fantastic outdoor tracks designed to challenge drivers of all skill levels. With a remarkable 1100m international standard track, both kids and adults can experience the rush of speed in a safe environment. Kingston Park Raceway isn't just about racing; it's also an ideal spot for birthday parties or group events.
Been here a couple of times, it's actually one of my son's favourite places to go! Their customer service is always top-notch. Sometimes you will find others on the track can be a bit rude, (banging into you or cutting you off) which is something to be aware of. Staff are super on-top of it though which is fantastic. It can be on the pricier side, but it is well worth the price, experience wise. We will be back!
Chloe K — Google review
Expensive but this track trumps any in QLD. The park itself is spacious with a variety of viewing areas with bbqs and amenities close by. 3 tracks, all kept in great condition. Karts were in good condition, too. A kiosk was available with a good selection of food and drinks. We had a great day 😀

It's a bit $ but great couple of hours of fun with the kids. It wasn't busy so got to use the long track instead of the short one. 4 races over two hours was perfect.

1100m track (Adult track)✅️ Excellent karts✅️ Kid & Adult friendly✅️ Kids parties/Adult events✅️ Safety first & well maintained PPE✅️ Good friendly staff✅️ Bookings essential✅️ I'm in Ipswich twice a year for a month each time & a visit to Kingston Park Raceway (40min drive) is always one of the regular activities I do. I even ensure I pack my KPR balaclava & gloves these days to avoid purchasing them again. Karting is never cheap but Kingston Park is well worth a visit to bring out your inner Oscar Piastri #81 Highly recommend.

My teenage kids and myself had a fun day out on the Monte Carlo track. Douglas and the on track crew were super friendly and helpful. They also have a Cafe which has some really nice food. Im giving these guys a 5 out of 5!!! Best time ever. Shout out to Jarrod who was looking after everyone the day we went, he was super friendly, done a bday shout out for my boy along with giving him and his brother extra time (from 6 and a half to 10 and a half minutes), thankyou so very much Jarrod......

Absolutely loved the glow worm cave. I learnt so much about them. This is a man-made rainforest and a man-made cave which was just amazing. The frog hollow was just an added extra which I also enjoyed. And I love Cedar Creek running through the rainforest and all the random bush turkeys just wandering around. Amazing!!!

Beautiful scenic drive then you arrive and are greeted by friendly staff in a delightful setting. Momo was our guide and she was friendly and full of enthusiasm for her job. She imparted a ton of information in a way that made it interesting. The grounds are well kept and the attached cafe, gift shop and winery are beautifully set up. We purchased some excellent gifts to take away with us. You cannot take photos inside the cave but outside and around the frog breeding areas you can. A great way to spend a few hours.

We visited with my elderly mother to whom wanted to see the butterflies 🦋 to which was not opened as yet and nothing was noted on their website about not been opened. Otherwise the glow-worms was a delightful experience along with the cafe and gardens. Would be nice if you cleaned up the rubbish in the pond and gardens to which the manager walked right past

Great, informative tour as part of ticket and entry. The glow worms were AMAZING. The cave was full of them glowing brightly. There's also Frog Hollow to see too. All set in lush rainforest on a vineyard estate. There's also a lovely cafe/restaurant and wine tastings. Definitely worth a visit.

Educational and informative guided tour, you will learn a lot about glow worms and see them lining up the man-made cave walls. The centre itself situated at a nice bush area and the garden is lovely. Worthwhile to visit.

Had a tour with Beau Eastman. It was his first tour but what a bubbly knowledgeable chap. We found out that he was a film maker and has done work for Sir David Attenborough. We had to dig to get that but it was amazing to hear his adventures after the tour. Made the whole tour just that bit more engaging and magical. The glow worm story is pretty cool. It’s like you end up inside the galaxy in space. And the whole place is actually bright from the glow after your eyes adjust. Worth checking out for sure. The frogs and lizards is a bonus.

Tour guide Austin was very informative and made learning about glow worms interesting and fun. Definitely worth $30 to experience.

Eagle Street Pier is a modern dining complex located on a 19th-century wharf in Brisbane. It boasts over 15 bars and restaurants, offering contemporary riverfront dining with stunning views of the Story Bridge. The area is renowned for its fine dining establishments, but visitors can also enjoy the ambiance by taking a leisurely stroll along the City Reach Boardwalk.
Beautiful scenery and good photo taking opportunities. Food is a little on the expensive side but worth the experience. Some restaurants you can eat for $12-15/pp, however some are $30+/pp. Would be amazing to watch the sunset here! Also has a nice boardwalk if you are into walking by the water.

I'm so in love with this place. The view is outstanding. Its quite busy with alot of people biking and running along the water way. I have been here on multiple occasions to dine, drink or even just catch the city cat across the water. I plan to get an apartment here one day soon.

Nice spot for an early morning cooked breakfast. Amazing views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge. Lots of choices of where to eat. Meet up with friends for a memorable day. Enjoy a walk or bicycle ride after, along the esplanade. One of Brisbane's little secrets worth hunting out.

This is the central river hub where all the ferries come and where the riverboats live. It is a great location of restaurants and cafes overlooking the water. I saw the Riverboat office and did the Christmas lunch tour from here..

Great view of the river and story bridge. This is a much better place to see the New Year's Eve fireworks than the crowded southbank park.

Beautiful area! Within walking distance to the CBD and botanical gardens. Beautiful outlook over the river, with boats moored in front and Kangaroo Points cliffs towering up on the other side. The high rise architectural design here is phenominal. There are walking and bike tracks all along the river. The cafes here cater to the high class consumer with a diverse range of cultural gastronomy on offer (i.e.; latin, asian, western cuisine etc and coffee). Unfortunately the area lacks options for those on a lower budget. Otherwise it is a very pituresque area, well worth investigating!

What an amazing beautiful hotel. Absolutely stunning. The staff member who we signed in with, was amazing too, we we t in the wrong parking, & she sorted that out a.s.a.p. Lovely girl, unfortunately we didn't get her name. The rooms are stunning, we've stayed in wonderful hotels around the world. l really believe that was probably the best. Food good too. Beds oh my goodness like sleeping on air. l will be buying some of the bedding, so soft, tremendous. Cleaning brilliant & very quick. 100% recommend.

Highlight: Beds are SO comfortable. Great location in the city. It’s a very old building, which on one hand is beautiful but on the other hand has some issues. Example: 2 of the 3 elevators were down during my stay. Example: some of the windows don’t open. The parking is unfortunately a huge hassle and pretty long walk (since the elevator is down). Their parking structure is shared to the public, so it’s very busy and hard to find a space.

A surprise birthday treat for me by my wife meant an evening composed of various events. We therefore needed some flexibility in order to meet with the different time schedules organised. Our first stop was the Treasury Hotel, with a plan to park earlier in the day as my wife had work commitments. Reception arranged an early book in which allowed the whole event to run with ease and the room was just what we required. It was classic splendour, a ceiling around 20 ft high with solid walls in a quiet location formed around a quadrangle or courtyard providing privacy and it ensured a good night's sleep for me. The neo Italian renaissance style was present in the hotel room construction also adding further grandeur to any occasion with support pillars and a ceiling utilising a classic beam structure. A great place to stay for any occasion.

My husband surprised me with a night away for my birthday. What an amazing beautiful Historical hotel. Absolutely stunning. The staff member who checked us in was lovely and friendly. The room was absolutely stunning. We had breakfast included and it was awesome. We also ordered dessert from room service menu and it was delicious. 100% recommend this hotel.
Sherrie M — Google review
We had a good experience at the Treasury. We landed in Brisbane early in the morning and got to the hotel around 9am. They will hold your bags for you and bring them up to the room when it’s ready. They texted us that the room was ready well before the listed check-in time. The staff were friendly and professional. The hotel is nicely decorated and has a classic feel. The property has a gym, which was empty and opened until 10:00pm. Had a good selection of weights and cardio machines. The room itself was pretty standard. It came with a balcony overlooking the square, but we did not use it. The bathroom is also pretty spacious. There was an issue with a water leakage in the hotel itself, but staff took care of it quickly during the day. They also gave us complementary fruit! Which was nice. Overall the location, price, and value was great and I’d recommend the Treasury if you’re standing in CBD, Brisbane.

We had a wonderful stay at the Treasury Hotel Brisbane. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. A special thanks to the team at the front desk — my wife accidentally left a gift in the lobby, and they went out of their way to locate and return it to us quickly. That level of care really stood out. The hotel itself is beautiful and full of character, but it’s the people who made the experience memorable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Brisbane.

Absolutely stunning historical hotel. If I was to stay in Brisbane again, I would definitely love to return. We had dinner in the restaurant 2 nights, and I have to say the Pizza was one of the best we have had. Breakfast was a good choice. Valet parking was ideal. Each and every staff member, no matter where in the hotel they worked, were lovely. Southbank was also in close proximity for wonderful evening walks. You would not be disappointed with a stay here at The Treasury Hotel, and I hope we can return one day for another stay.

Great location - easy walking distance to queen street mall and casino. Charming heritage hotel - little worn - but very clean. Staff were friendly and unassuming- any concerns were swiftly addressed which was lovely. Car park still a decent hike with no lift access, fire stairs might be a bit challenging for those with mobility issues Super quiet and even though lots of people walking down below (drunken shenanigans!) couldn’t hear anything from the suites.

Roma Street Parkland is a renowned and expansive park in Brisbane, offering contemporary display gardens, waterways, and an amphitheater. It's a horticultural gem and a welcoming community space with spectacular flower gardens, children's playgrounds, accessible facilities, lakes, cafes, and event hosting. Located in the heart of the city next to Roma Street train station, it provides a delightful haven for relaxation, picnics by the lake, wildlife spotting, and exploring newly refurbished playgrounds.
One of the most iconic park near Brisbane city centre! I always enjoy the beauty of nature decorated in vibrant flowers colours, melodious birds singing, massive green area to play, decent barbecue area to arrange parties, clean toilets, great stage area to practice dances. City council has taken their jobs seriously to manage and maintain their sophisticated garden area to attract more tourists.

It is peaceful, calm and not noticeable that other people are there. There is something to see and enjoy but it is the styling of the garden beds with colourful flowers that brings the whole display together. Congratulations to all concerned.

I really enjoyed my visit to Roma Street Parkland. It’s such a peaceful spot right in the middle of Brisbane — beautifully landscaped with colourful gardens, shady trees, and walking paths. Great place to unwind, have a picnic, or just enjoy the scenery. Everything was spotless and well cared for, and it’s super easy to get to from Roma Street Station. Definitely one of my favourite places in the city.

Whether you're a visitor or a local, this experience is highly recommended for getting a different perspective of Brisbane's lifestyle and architecture.
What an amazing customer focused crew. I left my bag behind on one of the ferries and the crew organised retrieval within 1/2 hour. Must be a great job, as every crew member was happy, talkative and so polite. Gavin from Southbank stop was delightful to all customers, making them laugh and enjoy their experience. Well done City Cat.

We were in Brisbane for medical reasons and had had a rough few days. Catching the City Cat was just what we needed. Joseph in particular was incredibly kind and funny and brightened our day. The crew made a big effort to help people and have genuine conversations. I was so grateful and impressed. If you’re like me and think “I’ll wing it and do the whole loop” be aware it’s really long and goes for more than 2 hours!!

City Cat Terminal South Bank like the other City Cat Terminal’s is great. Travelling to South Bank on a City Cat is the best option to get to South Bank. No hassle with parking, as well as riding on the Brisbane River. The staff are always helpful when notifications on the stop that’s approaching. Staff are helpful with any questions that you may have. Jump on a City Cat to South Bank and enjoy the ride.

Bossy staff, only letting 8 people on the ferry at a time (although the ferry offered much more seats). We waited for half an hour and then still didn't get on the ferry, so we decided to take the bus instead. Bit disappointing. Place was clean though and offered enough seats in the waiting area.
EdenApparelBoutique — Google review
Great trip on the river around the city. Nice new and clean stations, friendly staff, clean and tidy ferry's. BUT NO WAY TO BUY A TICKET. You've got services, crew on board, lighting and power just put in a kiosk where you can purchase a go card. Extremely frustrating when you are travelling from interstate. Failing that how about an app on ya fone
Nathan C — Google review
This is a review of the CityCats rather than this particular CityCat terminal- which is all much the same. Riding a CityCat is a must for any visitor to Brisbane and a surprisingly rewarding experience for locals. This is the ultimate way to see the variety of Brisbane lifestyle, buildings and landmarks in a relatively inexpensive and easy to use service. Depending on how much have, you can explore Brisbane from the quiet rescue residential area of St Lucia to the busy reaches of the Brisbane river around Hamilton. The CityCat is part of the TransLink network so you use your GoCard or [or it’s soon to be introduced Smart Ticketing] Simply tap on and ride the CityCat for the entire round trip. For example, if you get on at South Bank, go upstream to the University of Qld, stay on the boat and then go right to Hamilton, stay on the boat and return to South Bank. That round would trip will take about two hours and 40 minutes all up. The off-peak cost for an adult at the time of writing is $3.37. But you can jump on and off and off and if you get back on without an hour it is considered as a continuation of your journey for the one fare. The new generation of CityCats has a top deck that you ride on. Otherwise, the front or rear decks provide an exhilarating experience. Full details of the CityCats are at the TransLink website or the Translink app

The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is a contemporary art museum located in a modern riverside building in Brisbane, Australia. Established in 2006 as an extension of the Queensland Art Gallery, GOMA has quickly gained recognition as one of the largest modern and contemporary art galleries in Australia.
Had the pleasure of visiting the Gallery of Modern Act this afternoon. The venue is outstanding and so well maintained. There are 4 levels of exhibitions and they are all modern and contemporary. It is appropriate because there are exhibitions that challenge modern ideas and social norms. Thank you to everyone who is involved in the management and services provided at the Gallery. If you haven't visited, do yourself a favour and come experience the excellence here.

Good place to visit on weekend going out. It was free to see art exhibitions. This is next normal art museum. And also near Queensland library . It is very nice area and enjoyable. I visited both. If you don’t like noisy place , here is calm and quiet and makes you feel relax and enjoyable.

Wonderful place to visit. Knowledgeable and friendly experts to guide you through individual sections of the gallery. A carefully selected art work both domestic and international. The curators managed to take such a familiar fairytale and present it in a way that was fresh, imaginative, and deeply immersive. From the delicate costumes and sparkling gowns to the intricate set designs that re-created iconic moments, every corner of the exhibition invited you to pause, look closer, and get swept up in the magic. What I loved most was how it balanced nostalgia with creativity. The exhibition wasn’t just about retelling the fairytale—it explored how Cinderella has been reinterpreted in different cultures and across different mediums, from paintings and fashion to film and pop culture. Walking through, it felt both whimsical and thought-provoking, reminding me how stories we grow up with continue to evolve and inspire. If you’re in Brisbane, this exhibition is an absolute must-see, whether you’re a lover of art, fairytales, or just want to experience a touch of enchantment.

The Gallery of Modern Art offers a wonderful chance to see the world through the eyes of different artists — a perfect place to slow down and reflect on life. What touched me most was an artwork tracing a family tree that reminded us that, thousands of years ago, we were all connected as one big family. It made me wonder — why do we still create so many divisions between races today?

Slickers Horse Riding offers an incredible opportunity for teens to immerse themselves in the world of horseback riding, set against a picturesque backdrop just outside the city. Spanning 7 acres at Wattle Creek Equestrian Centre, this venue is perfect for both weekend riders and those looking to enhance their skills during school holidays. The standout feature here is undoubtedly the amazing instructors who create a supportive and fun environment, ensuring that every rider feels comfortable regardless of their experience level or fears.
My favourite place that I chose for my kids to ride. The reason: amazing instructors! They are always there for you, they are fun, they are polite, they are not judgemental about mistakes and different abilities or fears kids may have. The horses are well behaved and well-cared for. They are safe to be around for beginners. The equipment (harness, saddles, pads) are of good quality and condition. Each ride is supervised by 3 instructors who will not leave your kid struggling. The trail rides are around an absolutely stunning lake and include walking and trotting (if the level of riders' skills permits) different terrain which makes the ride, even when simply walking, more interesting. Sometimes kids will lead horses to drink in the lake, which is very fun! We also started to attend a kids horse club: 3 hours of horsemanship and learning on weekends. Kids are learning how to clean and tack horses, how to feed them and receive riding training as well on the trail ride or in the arena (kids' democratic choice:)!) Thank you for being amazing, Slickers Horse team! If you could (in future) offer riding lessons for more experienced riders who may find trail rides not challenging enough, or trail rides specifically for experienced riders, that would be something that will 100% lure me (now just a waiting parent :) as well into riding at your awesome stable.

This place is absolutely incredible. It’s a recreational spot where you can literally see the entire city of Brisbane, and you truly need a whole day to take in all its beauty. There’s a forested area with amazing weather and incredible plants. I highly recommend it. Honestly, until someone goes there themselves, they can’t believe how great it is.

The best place I’ve ever been to. The kind of place that makes your heart happy just by looking at nature. We went there when it was raining, and it was so beautiful that we couldn’t stop admiring the greenery. I absolutely loved this place and would love to visit again.

A very good place to view the entire Brisbane city. Super view from the watch tower. It is recommended to bring food on your own or there is a restaurant which has been and food items but costly. The parking looks free. But I need to check again. Rest everything is good. Nice place to relax. I went at night and the view was amazing. Feels like sitting in an aircraft and flying too close on top of a metropolitan city. I couldn't identify any locations on my first visit. But I liked it a lot. Using good binoculars are highly recommended on locations like this. Here I'm uploading some views from here during the night.

One of the famous spots to visit in Brisbane. This place is accessible with public transport. You can catch a bus here from the city. This is the place where you can see the views of Brisbane City from top. Nonetheless, there is not much to see besides the city views. The views might not be the best, but it is also because we came in the afternoon. Based on other reviews, it’s best to come here during sunrise or sunset to see a more breathtaking view of the city from top.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, located just north of Brisbane's CBD, is the world's largest koala sanctuary and a haven for Australian native wildlife. Visitors can watch koalas lounging in gumtrees, hand-feed kangaroos, and observe endangered species like the cassowary. The sanctuary offers keeper talks throughout the day and opportunities to learn about various Aussie wildlife while exploring at your own pace.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is truly one of Brisbane’s most special attractions and a must-visit for anyone who loves animals. From the moment you walk in, the natural bushland setting makes you feel close to wildlife in a peaceful environment. The highlight, of course, is the koalas—you can see them up close, learn about their habits, and even have the chance to gently hold one for a photo, which is an unforgettable experience. Beyond koalas, the sanctuary offers so much more. You can hand-feed kangaroos in a large open field, watch platypuses swimming, and see a variety of native birds, reptiles, and farm animals. The daily keeper talks and shows are both fun and educational, making it a great place for families and kids to learn about Australia’s unique wildlife. The staff are friendly and clearly passionate about animal care and conservation, which adds to the overall experience. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, with plenty of shaded areas to rest. There’s also a nice café with good food and drinks. Overall, Lone Pine is not just a sanctuary but a place where you truly connect with nature. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike!

Easy to reach using private or public transport from the QBD. The venue hosts different species not just koalas but also Kangaroos, crocodiles, reptiles, birds. For the welfare of animals koalas cannot be hugged but guests can pay more to see them closer and cuddle them with the supervision of staff. Everybody working seemed professional and committed to preserve the welfare of the animals. A bit pricy, but considering what you get it is still worth a visit.

A must-visit in Brisbane! Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an amazing experience where you can get up close with koalas, kangaroos, and so many native Australian animals. The park is well-maintained, staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the animals are clearly well cared for. Loved the chance to see a koala up close and feed the kangaroos such a memorable experience for locals and visitors alike!

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a must-visit considering it's status as the world's first, oldest, and largest koala sanctuary in the world. It was truly a special experience seeing and interacting with the koalas and kangaroos up close especially in the huge free-roam area where the kangaroos were. The park is very well-maintained, with a number of other sections with a variety of other insects and animals. Definitely worth a visit if ever in Brisbane!
Cheryl T — Google review
Is a fantastic place to visit, you can be with the Kanguru and give them a special food. if you pay a little more you can touch the koala for some minutes and take pretty nice pictures. The sanctuary space is beautiful with a very good structure, with birds, crocodile and more.
Diego C — Google review
Amazing place to visit if you want to get up close and personal with Australia's (more friendly) wildlife. Got to feed Wallabies and kangaroos and saw loads more as well. Visited via the river cruise from the city and that was a great way to do it. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Brisbane.

Fantastic for the whole family. The owl encounter far exceeded my expectations. Leanne and the team have so much knowledge and really know how to respect the animals and also have them guided over in a way that they seemed to be genuinely having fun. Beautiful lay out, and the Koalas were so very special.
Joy J — Google review
Excellent experience kangaroos can be fed. The Tasmanian Devil looks soft but look at those jaws and teeth. Koala are always good to watch. So is the Platypus we saw a central python as well as all the other birds and animals. Well worth the entry fee. You may want to get there early before the crowds come in we went on a week day and by lunch time there were people everywhere

Queens Park Cafe & Kiosk

Cafe
Queens Park Cafe & Kiosk is a spacious, no-frills cafe located within the landscaped grounds of the state's oldest park. It offers an all-day breakfast until 2pm, featuring dishes like Canadian style French toast, waffles, hotcakes, and corn fritters. The cafe overlooks the city of Ipswich and provides an easy-going ambiance with a large menu suitable for the whole family. Additionally, it emphasizes minimizing its environmental footprint.
I’ve stopped here a few times after visiting the nature park with my kids, and it’s been a great experience each time. The team are friendly, the service is efficient and the food hasn’t disappointed. Today I had the nachos and they were absolutely delicious! Everything tasted fresh, the flavour was spot on, and the menu offers a great variety of food and it’s very kid-friendly. Highly recommend.
Ellyn — Google review
Have been here many times. Great place to catch up with friends for some lunch . We had a chicken Caesar salad and a ham and salad sandwich. Both were delicious 🤤. Only one thing that was a bit disappointing was the bread on the sandwich was definitely not fresh. The filling was great. Look, I think I will over look it this time because it’s normally pretty good. The staff were really helpful. Service is always good.
ALLy B — Google review
The staff is super friendly and helpful, the location and view also great. The iced chocolate and coffee were also good. However, I wouldn’t recommend the carrot cake muffin, the dough is fine and it’s nice that they utilise various spices instead of just cinnamon, but the icing just doesn’t match and tastes a bit strange.

Demi, Miranda, the young bloke, (sorry didn't ask his name; next time) and team, were welcoming, down to earth, provided country hospitality and delicious well priced hot choccy with marshmallows and melting moment cookie, yum! They have an extensive food and drink menu. I give them 6 stars and a beautiful park to look out on from the side deck seating area or any part of the cafe deck.

Queens Park Cafe & Kiosk is a lovely spot for a casual outing. The location is perfect—right in the park, with plenty of greenery and space to relax. The café offers a good selection of food and drinks, from light snacks to hearty meals, all reasonably priced. Service is friendly and welcoming, and the outdoor seating makes it great for families and kids. It’s also very convenient to grab something quick from the kiosk while enjoying a walk in the park. Overall, a great place to enjoy good food in a beautiful, relaxing setting.

Nice looking place but dont expect cheap food, everything is like bloody expensive, $30 for a bloody steak burger. not somewhere I'll come again, too rich fir a pensioner. And this is $7.50 worth of chips, lucky if its 1 potato very disappointed.
Fixa N — Google review
Went here on the weekend and spent $100 for a meal for 4 people. The service was good and food came out extremely fast. I tried to get some toast with two sides but they don’t do side with toast. Weird. So I added it to another meal on the table and got it on a different plate. First time ever I couldn’t order toast with sides at a cafe. $4 for a side of beans that was less than a tablespoon of beans (see pic on my saucer with teaspoon). What is that about?
April S — Google review
We came a long way to visit the area and have a take away lunch from this cafe. For $30 we were absolutely appalled with the size of the “Fisherman’s Basket”. One small piece of fish, two calamari, less than a palm size of chips and a small bland salad which included two old pieces of tomato. Highly disappointed and shocked at the cost for a measly sized meal. Do not recommend.

It has received accolades such as the Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage and Cultural Tourism. Visitors can immerse themselves in interactive displays and multimedia presentations that narrate the rich history of Queensland's rail service.
Such a great railway museum with something for all the family. Children have a fantastic area to entertain them for ages....well done! I would recommend a minimum of 2 hours....could spend all day here if you want to read all the information boards. There's a Cafe on-site, but wasn't opened when we were there. Tickets approx $15/adult. Plenty of parking. I couldn't get the self guided app to work, however it didn't matter. Highly recommend you put this place on your list!

The Rail Workshop's history is presented in a way that is very well done. As you walk around, you can see, explore, and interact with the exhibits from start to finish. It seems that there are always special events happening at this museum, which means there's always something new to discover.

Recently visited the Queensland Rail Workshop Museum, and it was an incredible experience! The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Queensland’s railway history, with a great collection of vintage trains and railway artifacts. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in trains or looking for a fun and educational outing!

Great place for a visit for all ages. Lots of trains, history, a bit of science and a playground. If attending during an outdoor event (Thomas the train, food vans etc.) bring a hat as it can get hot. You can also pack your own picnic!

We also went on the sunshine express, loved it. I would take a picnic lunch for Grantchester station, they had a hotdog food truck. Donut can and coffee van. Good enough but would prefer different food.

The railway museum is beautiful! We went with the whole family and all thoroughly enjoyed! The model train was extensive and so well put together. The trains and all in the information on them were great to see. The kids area is the best part as a family, the kids enjoyed for a long time! It’s all pram accessible, and was nice and cool inside.

From Toogoolawah south to somerset dam turn off, I road about 30 k round trip on ebike. Lots of ballast on trail from rail road. Always seems to go up hill. Going south, on old bridge where you go underneath across creek took me by surprise. Steep with almost a 180 degrees turn. Road this May. Very comfortable temperature then. saw about 10 people on bikes. One lady with kids and pram.

Summer Land Camels, located in Harrisville, is a unique destination offering a range of dairy and skincare products made from camel milk. Visitors can enjoy farm tours, camel rides, and learn about Australia's camel history. The farm cafe serves delicious camel concoctions using local produce against the backdrop of stunning scenery. The friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere make it a must-visit stopover for an informative and interesting experience with camels.
Interesting to learn more about the camel farm and recommend doing the tour to go behind the scenes. We also were lucky and a baby camel had just been born in the last 30mins and was trying to take its first steps. The camel milk, salami and sausage rolls are also very tasty! Plenty of free parking.

We went for the junior farmer day. The kids could not stop talking about the camels and wanting to come back again. They had a fantastic day. The pricing was really reasonable. They got to feed the camels and ride camels, Queenie and Little nugget. We had a tour of the farm and saw all the baby camels. There were also other activities for the kids like face painting, plaster painting and jewelry making and they were all extremely reasonably priced which made it a really perfect day.

I really enjoy my visit at Summer Land Camel Farm 🐪✨ Camel riding was very fun and special, also I can feed the camels and take many nice photos. The farm has many activities to do and the car park is big, very easy and comfortable. I also try the camel milk café 🥛☕, the drinks are fresh, smooth and delicious. The café has cake, snack and also products from camel milk like skincare and vodka, very interesting. It is a good place for family, couple or friends to spend time together. Relaxing, fun and different experience. I recommend this place!

My wife, two of our daughters, granddaughter and l went out so that myself, one of our daughters and granddaughter could do the 40 minute camel ride. My wife said it was the most she had ever paid for a coffee. You have the option of cow or camel milk in your coffee. She also had a scone baked with camel milk, however, was not a fan. I thought $70 for a 40 minute camel ride was a little excessive. But it has now been ticked off the bucket list. The camel ride was very peaceful and the staff gave you some history of the camels in Australia, along with some facts about the humble camel. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

There were many camel or camel themed products like cupcakes, ice cream, lattes, nachos, sausages, and cheese. It was a great experience to see, touch, ride, and feed camels up close. It was enjoyable and a place where both kids and adults can have fun.

Brisbane River, located in southeastern Queensland, Australia, offers a variety of fantastic areas to explore. From the sandy beach at Comslie to Bulimba, New Farm Park, and the city's Riverside walkway, there are plenty of picturesque spots along its banks. The river is also home to beautiful natural parks such as Barellan Point and Kholo Gardens. Visitors can enjoy cruising on the Rivercat ferry and exploring the bustling restaurant and arts precincts along the riverbank.
Walking alone by the Brisbane River on a winter night, her shoulders were as thin as the last leaf. The city at night was not so busy, she looked at the lights shining down on the sparkling river. Midway through the time, she felt the corners of her eyes glisten with a simple wonder of happiness, the happiness of fully feeling the familiarity in a completely unfamiliar place.

Totally in love with Brisbane River. The views is incredible, makes Brisbane CBD a beautiful world class city. Beautiful views along the riverside with the city skyline and beautiful residential. Regular ferries with friendly crew on board. Worth getting on and off the ferries to explore riverbank. The river winds through the city, you can travel via city cat along the river. There are plenty of places to explore with restaurants and cafes. Also a beautiful place to have a night walk, the river looks amazing during the night. Brisbane city is awesome place yo live and visit. Highly recommend a river cruise. From Penang Malaysia

The river has so many fantastic areas we have frequented regularly, from the sandy beach at Comslie, Bulimba, New Farm Park, the city, Riverside walkway, Gardens Point and Southbank. The bike and walking tracks are great. We now live on the river at Karana Downs, where the experience is very different and just as delightful. Trees, abundant bird life, great natural parks, from Barellan Point, Colleges Crossing, to the weir and Kholo Gardens. I've posted a few photos, starting from our place.

We took a CityCat ride from the North Quay terminal up to Bulimba and then back to South Bank. It was a beautiful boat ride along the Brisbane River, and it was definitely worth checking out. You will need a Translink GoCard to take the CityCat ride.

We visited in late December and enjoyed exploring the river by cruising on the Rivercat ferry. There are so many lovely areas to visit along the river, from beautiful open parkland areas to bustling restaurant and arts precincts. It is worth getting on and off the ferries to explore the riverbank. The most enjoyable part of exploring the river is the two hour trip downstream from Southbank to Hamilton and return. A great way to get a good perspective of Brisbane.

This river is nice. But I had a very strange dream about it. I had walked towards it and asked it a few questions. But my murky reflection in the brown water swore at me very harshly. Then I cried. When I woke up, I was so confused.

Brisbane River, river in southeastern Queensland, Australia. It rises in the Brisbane-Cooyar ranges and flows some 215 miles southeasterly and northeasterly through a farming and dairying region, then through the city of Brisbane to Moreton Bay. Its navigable for steamers below Brisbane and for small craft below Ipswich. With Ferry service. Historically, several catastrophic floods of the Brisbane River have occurred, notably in 1893 and 1974. Heavy rains in early 2011 caused the river to flood and to inundate several riverside communities, including large portions of Brisbane.

The restaurant features a modern dining room that serves delectable French cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Dishes like beef carpaccio, panko crumbed pork belly, and grilled spatchcock are just some of the highlights on their ever-changing menu.
The visit to Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm exceeded my expectations. We dined in the restaurant at a window table overlooking the lavender which was in bloom. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Wine tasting is complimentary if you dine in the restaurant. Wines were very good and we bought a few bottles to take home. There is also the option of dining outside overlooking the lavender with a casual menu ordered at the bar, dogs are even welcome outside. Well worth a visit!

Great outdoor area, well setup to enjoy the view & while away time enjoying good company, food, drink & fresh air. The picnic hampers were plentiful & delicious. What an absolute gem! The Lavender farm at Mount Alfred is simply perfect. The property is pristine, with jaw-dropping mountain scenery at every turn. The four of us had lunch at the restaurant, and it was genuinely one of the best meals we've ever had – truly 5-star quality and beyond. The day flowed perfectly with a fantastic commentary wine tasting and a serene walk through the beautiful lavender. An outstanding experience we can't wait to repeat. We will be back!

Not only is the Chapel a singuarly unique place to get married, but the scale and vast expanse of the lavender farm and vineyards provides an incredible backdrop to photos and for guests to explore. We had no fears if the rains descended as there is ample under covered space, and we were blessed with the most incredible sunset which just lit up everything and everyone so beautiful. All food and drinks provided were simply superb. I distinctly remember as the Bride, having a moment of blissful calm as I enjoyed my Lavender Duck main, watching everyone else as they enjoyed theirs. I am recommending to all my friends as I would love to attend a wedding here as a GUEST! The new on-site accommodation as well is very well appointed, with a lot of space and the honeymoon suite comes with a lovely spa bath. We also worked well with Fassifern Coaches to arrange transport for our guests staying in the surrounding areas and they knew exactly what we would be after, so never fear for the more remote location.

I’ve been visiting Kooroomba for many occasions over the years. The drive to the venue reminds you why it’s part of the Scenic Rim, with spectacular views from the restaurant. From events and birthday lunches to today’s visit, which was our wedding anniversary, every experience has been memorable. We shared a glass of bubbles overlooking the Great Dividing Range, easily the best seat in the restaurant, followed by the Beef Cheeks and Curried Duck. Dessert was the Crème Brûlée (which my wife still insists is the best she’s ever had) and the famous Lavender Ice Cream, their signature dish. I’ve taken visitors from all over the world for that ice cream, and it’s never disappointed. Pricing is very reasonable considering the fine dining experience and the quality of the meals. I’m a fan and already looking forward to my next visit.

Amazing restaurant under a gorgeous setting. The chef produces perfection and delivered and nurtured by our waiter (Guy) in our food and beverage choices. A truly professional restaurant and venue - I understand why it takes 3-4 weeks to make a reservation for lunch. My only wish would be to book in for dinner in the future.

Environment - It is scenic and the lavender is nice, but I feel many places could offer the same. If u find the angle, can get some nice photos, but if you are driving 2 hours and expecting a“spectacular and breathtaking view” then you might be disappointed. The restaurant - food - no complain on food, but also nothing so special - pretty standard kind of quality you would expect. The restaurant - service - quite so so… the young lady performed a very standard Ai-like customer service. No willingness to have any thoughts when requested for simple help.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. We were in a nearby camp-site and stopped here for lunch. It's a beautiful looking vineyard especially during sunny weather. We all ordered the butterflied chicken which was delicious. Great displays of different machinery and trucks. It's not very big, about a 15 minute walk around. No aircon in the room, just big industrial fans that blow hot air. It's not worth the $8 for admission if you don't live in the area, a Gold coin donation would be more suited.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Picnic Point Restaurant in Toowoomba with a large group of 20 people. My best friend and I had lunch here today. The place is quite spectacular, very modern, clean, stylish and spacious inside. Its has a very pleasing and friendly atmosphere. It's beautifully lit and has views that you simply couldn't afford if you had to pay for them. That staff were superb, with unmatchable enthusiasm and friendliness. The food was lovely, delicious, well made and beautifully presented. Downsides - none really, other than a lack of internet enabled food ordering from the table. We got stuck behind someone who simply had no idea what they were doing, and it took her 15 minutes to place her order. That's ridiculous, but not the restaurant's fault. Thanks, Mason, you're awesome! Very, very, highly recommended! 12/10!

Was just passing by and decided to go in and suss it out. Loved the museum! Their displays of restored carriages from the 19th century is amazing, well explained and interactive, really preserved a piece of Queensland history! There is also a science area for kids, very interactive and fun, highly recommended. The prices are fair, 12.5$ adults, and 10$ for students or concesion

Interesting place indeed. So much Australian History. This place makes you proud to be an Aussie. I loved all the old carriages especially the caravan. I also thought the Cobb & Co. Journey's were fascinating, I could have watched and read it all. There were boxes and suitcases around the place showing you what families lived in the area. That was clever. The Saddlery and Wheelwright workshops were very interesting. I liked how you can go to classes to learn these trades. Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers pot plant winners were on show throughout the museum, very colourful. As I was an out of towner, it costs me $12.50 but if you lived in the Toowoomba region it was free. It's a small price to pay for some wonderful Australian history. I highly recommend.

This is a nice place to visit. Kept the kids happy with the kids stuff in certain areas... perfect marketing and less stress for us adults. Entry fee was just a little expensive for what it is..

Was there for the intro Blacksmith course which was fun, practical and pretty Zen. Knowledgeable instructor, great bunch of participants, good gear and very hands on. Thoroughly recommend. Good interpretation in the museum and full workshops where they rehab old coaches.

A great museum with many interesting features including the collection of coaches and horse drawn vehicles The carriage works was also extremely impressive The windmill display outside is a very impressive feature

Few artefacts to enjoy. The carriages and buggies were everything. They're amazing. But not worth a Brisbane Toowoomba return trip sadly.

Great museum, it is very well laid out with good access to all exhibits. Wheel chair acces s makes it a good place to visit for those with mobility issues. Several hands on areas for children to learn about the historical significance of this area. A beautiful cafe and gift shop on site enhances this venue.

The park features family-friendly sections, including playgrounds, sports fields, an off-leash dog park, and picnic areas. 🌸 Beautiful displays, vibrant atmosphere, and so much creativity in every corner. The mix of flowers and food stalls made it a truly uplifting day out. A must-visit event for all ages! 🌸

Visited during the Flower Festival season. The botanical displays are magnificent and such a vast variety of trees, gardens, lawns and floral beds. Beautifully planned and maintained. I felt immersed in nature, it was so calming.

Well maintained Garden. The gardens are vibrant and beautifully designed, especially during the Carnival of Flowers — it feels like walking through a painting! There’s plenty of open space for picnics, walking tracks, a great playground for kids, and lots of shady spots to relax. The atmosphere is peaceful, clean, and family-friendly. Perfect place to unwind, take photos, or enjoy a day out in nature. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Toowoomba! 🌸🌳✨

Visited the Toowoomba Flower Festival at Queen’s Park — it was crowded but absolutely beautiful! The gardens were perfectly maintained, full of colour, and the whole place had such a cheerful vibe. Loved that it’s dog-friendly too. Hats off to everyone who worked hard to make it look this amazing! 🌼

It's a wonderful time in Toowoomba. Gardens throughout the town are full of vibrant flowers and creativity. Lots to see and do in Queens Park, from shopping at the local farmers markets, going to the amusement park, winding through the maze or strolling through the park. I highly recommend Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers 💐

This is a stunning, well maintained park. There are trees planted along all of the paths offering shaded areas, and the lawns are kept neat and tidy. The Flower Festival really makes great use of the garden beds in September and October, and the option of various playgrounds here is appealing. There are wide open spaces to kick around a ball in and various paths to get around the vast park area with. A beautiful spot.

Beautiful location. Visited in October so was a bit after the peak time of the Carnival of Flowers. Garden displays were still amazing in the range of plants and colours. Is a beautiful oasis to visit at any time of the year.

Darling Downs Zoo

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Our visit to the Darling Downs Zoo was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how welcoming and well-organized everything was. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about caring for the animals. The zoo itself is beautifully maintained with spacious enclosures that give you fantastic views of the animals while still respecting their space. We loved seeing so many incredible species up close – the big cats were definitely a highlight, and the giraffes were a hit, especially the baby. What really stood out was how educational the experience was. The keeper talks were engaging and informative, and there were plenty of signs and displays to learn about conservation and the unique stories of each animal.

Unforgettable Experience at Darling Downs Zoo! We had the best day at Darling Downs Zoo! The whole experience was well beyond our expectations — clean grounds, friendly staff, and a wide range of animals you don’t often get to see in a regional zoo. The absolute highlights for us were the lemurs and the giraffes. The lemurs were so lively and fun to watch — full of energy and personality! And the giraffes were simply majestic. Being able to see them up close was a real treat, especially for the kids. It’s clear the animals are well cared for and comfortable in their environments. The zoo layout is easy to follow, with lots of shady spots and areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings. It's perfect for families or anyone who loves animals. You can tell a lot of heart goes into running this place. We’ll definitely be coming back — it’s a hidden gem in the Darling Downs region!

We had a lovely time at the Darling Downs Zoo! It was a fun way to spend the morning/afternoon, even though many of the animals were having a nap when we visited. Still, it was a great experience overall. Pricing was reasonable. No issues with parking. A small suggestion, adding a little coffee spot near the giraffes would be amazing! It’d give visitors a chance to enjoy the epic views (and a caffeine fix) while supporting the zoo even more.

Darling Downs Zoo is such a great place to spend the day! The enclosures are well-kept, the animals look healthy and cared for, and there’s a wide variety to see—from lions and monkeys to reptiles and birds. The layout makes it easy to walk around, and there are lots of shady spots to stop and rest. The staff are friendly and happy to answer questions, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that a few areas could use a little updating, as well as needing maybe extra kiosks or food and drink venders. But overall it’s a wonderful zoo and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the region. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals!
Ethan S — Google review
Highly recommend visiting this beautiful zoo, the animals are well looked after and with areas maintained, the grounds are reasonably looked after but if that's at the expense of looking after the animals I welcome it. Absolutely worth the money knowing it goes right back into animal welfare. We spent 5 hours wandering around having a break for lunch and going back to see what we missed the first time. Presenters were great at explaining details about the animals too.

My boys and I had an amazing day. Although a big drive from the Gold Coast, in the end it was worth it. Such a peaceful zoo, fantastic views, surrounded by nature. Couldn’t believe the amount of animals there to see. Boys finally got to see lions, we also saw some other animals we had never seen before like the addax and the capybara. Spent the whole day there. Grabbed an ice cream to cool off. We will definitely recommend to other families, and will be back to see the lion cubs all grown up. Thank you Darling Down Zoo! 😊

Dropped in late in the day on a Thursday with only around 90min before close. This was definitely not enough time to see the whole park when one of your group is disabled, but we definitely had a great time regardless Staff were lovely, answering questions, volunteering information, and even showing us 2 day old puggles! The enclosures are nice and large and all of the animals looked very healthy and well cared for. We'll definitely be back for a longer visit.
Aimi H — Google review
It really is a hell of a drive both distance and mountain range wise. Not really their fault however, more could definitely be done by the staff to make it actually worth the drive. So many rare animals you don't see at other zoos around Qld especially the large cats however, all you get to see is them sleeping and laying around. There were no shows or interactions at all. Staff should let you interact with some of the smaller or harmless animals such as the capybaras or giraffes etc. My son was so excited to see the capybaras but they were so far away inside a large locked paddock and we could barely see anything when they were laying in the shade. Overall it was a fair price and worth checking out if your in the area but NOT really worth the drive if it's 1.5 hours away or more. Its also great that it's not over commercialised, its much more relaxed and quiet compared to say Australia Zoo at Beerwah but again it is in the middle of nowhere...

Nestled on the northern side of the University of Southern Queensland campus, the UniSQ Japanese Garden, known as Ju Raku En, is a stunning representation of traditional Japanese landscape design. Gorgeous garden, authentic Japan feel. Great place for a gentle walk, picnics and even wedding photos. Quite and serene. Public toilet on site. Please keep dogs/pets on leash as lots of birds and ducks on site

A lovely and enchanting place, perfect for a relaxing walk or taking beautiful photos. We even took a little back way to reach the gardens, which made it feel more adventurous. The only downside was that it was quite busy, so it was hard to get photos without people in the background. Still, it’s a wonderful spot to stop by and enjoy.

Lovely garden! Very tranquil when not busy, avoid during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers if you want peace! The cherry blossoms are blooming currently which was also a huge bonus (26/09). Parking was slightly problematic with the festival but usually isn’t too bad.
B F — Google review
It was a fortunate experience to visit on a weekday. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, presenting a stunning display of seasonal beauty. With fewer visitors, the surroundings remained peaceful and serene, allowing for an uninterrupted appreciation of the natural scenery. This timing provided an ideal opportunity to capture and enjoy the essence of the garden at its finest.

Visited this place late afternoon on the last weekend (which also happened to be a long weekend) of the Carnival of Flowers, so was very crowded with visitors, picnicers and kids but was still a beautiful place. Not as peaceful and tranquil as it can be at others times i have visited. Wistetia and lillies were in bloom but it looked like the cherry bloosoms may have just finished when we visited in early October. Don't miss a stroll through our own native flora at the Gumbi Gumbi Gardens just around the corner.

Peaceful and relaxing place to walk, sit, talk or meditate, even picnic. There are a few tables near the lake and a covered Pavilion overlooking the lake and gardens. Recommend a visit. Beautifully maintained gardens. Plenty of parking at either entrance. Can be busy in conjunction with festivals, but mostly a great to place to stroll, and enjoy the natural, green 'architecture'. No entry fees. Most walks are flat or modest gradient, some paths have steps, none steep. Toilets at the western boundary.

Wonderful garden, we also visited Queens Park gardens. Between Queens Park and the Japanese Garden it makes the 2 hour drive from Brisbane worth it. Will definitely visit again the future. We actually found this garden to be prettier than some of the gardens we visited IN Japan 😁 both Tokyo and Osaka.

Have been wanting to visit for years and finally got the chance! Absolutely fantastic - and way busier than I expected. So many places to sit and take in the gardens and lovely walking paths.
