We took the tour and enjoyed it very much. As a former photographer I found the collection fascinating. It was certainly worth the trip. Museum is closed Mondays. Nice cafe next door Thad does a good line of scones, jam and cream.

Absolutely fascinating tour. Full of interesting facts and amazing trivia. Michael knows his subject very well, but does not speak in technical terms. A great way to spend an hour or two. Highly recommended.

If you are into Spy Cameras or just camera memorabilia this is a must see. Michael is an absolute passionate gentleman on everything cameras. There are things in here you won't see anywhere else!! It is one of the best museums I’ve ever visited. The local photographer is very knowledgable and the collection is amazing. Great little museum with artifacts that you will never see anywhere else. Expensive entry fee, but very worth it if you're interested in anything "spy" or "camera".

This place is a treasure. We did the guided tour and the owner was very informative, explained things well with a bit of humour thrown in as well. I would definitely recommend this for anyone visiting Herberton.

If you like history you'll love this place, the whole village is well presented to a high standard restored and also original items. Well worth the entry fee. Expect to spend a whole day here so wear comfy shoes and be prepared to see some great exhibits in beautiful surroundings.

A great way to spend a day! So much to see that you could easily go back and see new things. Hospitality was great also and our dogs loved that they were welcomed in also.

Excellent open air museum showing how people lived and worked in the area. Amazing amount of collections which are not placed behind glass but as y’all are good Aussies can be touched and seen up close. Beautiful layout, great toasties at the restaurant. Also would advise to see the film, it shows how a wilderness became a mining and agricultural landscape.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-See Step Back in Time! I recently visited the Herberton Historic Village for the first time and was absolutely blown away. The attention to detail throughout the village is incredible – from the beautifully restored buildings to the fascinating machinery, memorabilia, and collections on display. You can really appreciate the time, cost, and dedication that must have gone into locating, preserving, and showcasing these treasures. One of my highlights was the old schoolhouse. It’s amazing to see what children were taught in the past, and it really makes you appreciate how much education (and life!) has changed over the years. The large white main house is simply stunning – lovingly restored both inside and out – and feels like stepping straight into another era. The entire township is a joy to explore, and I could have easily spent an entire day wandering from building to building, soaking in the history. My only regret is that we arrived around 2pm and only had a couple of hours before closing. My advice? Arrive early and give yourself plenty of time – there’s so much to see, you won’t want to rush. A special mention must go to Nicole, who greeted us at the entry/exit reception. Her warm personality instantly made us feel welcome, and her incredible historical knowledge added so much depth to our visit. It’s clear she is passionate about the village’s history and preserving it for future generations – she’s an absolute asset to the experience. Herberton Historic Village is a true Queensland gem, and I can’t wait to return and explore it all over again!

The owners should be congratulated on achieved such a fantastic village. We came in 2011 and did not have enough time to fully take it all in and swore we would come back again, it didn't disappoint. You have everything from classic cars, tractors, machinery, tools, printing pressed, typewriters, sewing machines, Blacksmiths, chemist, old schools and a working Masonic Lodge. Some buildings have been moved and rebuilt with the original timbers.

If I could give more stars I would This place is incredible A real walk back in time So much to see they offer a free return trip It's amazing a real credit to everyone involved My only pick..would be when old mate turns on all the cars and tractors...he doesn't say a word... a welcome..g'day or a little chat about how it all came to be would be so awesome...he just turns the machines on and walks away for a bit .... But none the less The place is awesome...food is plentiful and reasonably priced ..a must see

Herberton Historic Village is a must-see destination and truly one of the most impressive attractions in Australia. As the largest private museum in the country, it features over 60 immaculately restored buildings filled with incredible exhibits — I still can't believe how they managed to collect and preserve so much authentic history in one place. Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time, with every detail carefully curated to reflect life in Australia’s past. From rooms full of early 1900s cars to rooms of classic toys from Australia's past The highlight for me was crossing the suspension bridge to the traditional camp kitchen, where we enjoyed freshly made damper with golden syrup, hearty beef stew, and billy tea — it really brought the whole experience to life. This is a special place that everyone should take the time to explore.

I’ve been many times and it’s always a wonderful experience run by lovely people. Easy, relaxing and the scenery is gorgeous. Today one of our party had a medical issue, completely unrelated to the kayaking. The owners went above and beyond to meet us half way down the river and help. I cannot recommend Babinda Kayaking enough.

This day out begun with the most friendly Australian bloke we have ever stumbled across. Paul was incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming and gave us everything that we needed for us to have a fantastic paddle down the creek. The surprise choc ice on the way back was just the cherry on top! Beautiful scenery even is bad weather and fantastic value for money.

Had a great day today in the kayak, the scenery was absolutely beautiful! The new owners are lovely people and extremely helpful - we even got freshly baked Anzac biscuits! Definitely recommend this place

We've done Babimda Kayaking so many times now I've stopped counting. It is still one of my favourite things to do in North Queensland. It changes depending on the water level and time of year so it's always worth calling Paul to book and asking about the water level. We always take our little dog as well. A must do experience in my opinion.

What an experience! I will be recommending this to any one visiting Cairns and locals. We went on a day with some of the lowest water levels but still found it quite easy to get through. It was a beautiful day and getting to travel at our own pace downstream through crystal clear water was so nice. Paul the owner was fabulous and so helpful. If you're thinking about booking, do it. You won't be dissapointed.

The Babinda Boulders are just gorgeous! Such a beautiful spot to stop and stretch your legs while travelling. The water is so clear and inviting — definitely worth a swim in the safe area. Super relaxing and peaceful, I’ll 100% be coming back next time I’m in the area

Great place to stop if you are doing a road trip. Good short and easy walk to stretch legs and have a good swim. The walking paths are clear and have info about the place, beautiful views and great safe swimming areas.

This was a super impressive stop as well. Make sure you pack your lunch. You could spend an entire day here in the beautiful cool fresh water. The hike up and down to see the various falls was awesome too. They have stopped you gaining access to any of the dangerous pools as 19 people have died here over the last 20 years or so.

So we thought this would be some rocks in a river, and went really because we’ve seen pretty much all the attractions in the Cairns area. Top tip: GO HERE, IT’S AMAZING. There is a well maintained walking track that runs for about 450 metres that takes you to one of the most magnificent views I have ever seen on this planet. These are not rocks in a river: these are wonders of creation. Please, just go, it’s amazing.

We had a long drive to get here and to be honest it was disappointing. Maybe if it had been a warmer day and we could have made use of the swimming hole it may have seemed better. The walk seemed a bit too easy with the bitumised path. I think I prefer it a bit more natural having to climb over boulders and rough paths it just makes it more interesting. The area is lovely and the rain Forrest magnificent, the scenery is amazing but after our day at Murray falls this was a bit of a let down

A relatively short walk and beautiful river with interesting rocks. There are places to swim but there are also sections warning you not to swim for good reason.

So worth visiting, and a great place to camp and stay for a few days. Good toilets and shower facilities near the car park. The swimming hole is 5 mins walk, but the boulders are a 10-15min walk down an undulating sealed pathway through tropical rainforest. Many warning signs explaining the dangers of jumping in disallowed parts of the river where also very good.

This is a magical location, the walk around the lake is scenic and peaceful. Not too hard for us oldies. The lake is clean and deep to swim in or paddleboard and kayak. Parking is good and toilets clean.

A beautiful spot for a walk or swim. We sadly didn't see the croc or a cassowary, but the circuit walk around the lake was wonderful.

Beautiful lake with a hiking trail around. The track is well indicated and the loop is around 3,1km and 130m elevation. There are some nice trees and bird to see too, so keep your eyes open!

Beautiful volcanic crater lake with turtles, fish and red-claw. Great place for a swim or walk around the rainforest lake.

Fantastic place to visit. Lovely gentle walk around the lake followed by a really refreshing swim in the pristine waters of the lake alongside the fish, turtles and the freshwater crocodile,(but it eat’s fish not people).The parking facilities were great with ample spaces. Some of the toilets were being refurbished but the others were still well maintained and clean. Picnic tables are provided in a nice lawned area. Definitely worth a visit with a nice family atmosphere.

A very popular lake in tableland! Just 10mins drive from Malanda town. There will be plenty of parking spots outside the lake. Toilet everything is available there There is a signboard warning a friendly crocodile there but I have asked the local they said they have never seen him in 15 years so probably it's not there anymore A lot of people are going there for a swim and the whole lake is yours to swim Please bear in mind it can be very deep(not sure how deep as I can't see the bottom) So please be very careful if you are not familiar with water You can bring your own paddle board or kayak there. If you are having a picnic and decided to go for a swim please cover it well as the bush turkey is sneaky. There will be a 3KM walk around the lake which takes you an hour to finish Overall it is a good place to check out in Tableland

This is a wonderful place to visit while in Atherton Tablelands, just beautiful. Great place to swim after walking around the lake. Awesome birdwatching area too. Lots Sawtooth Bowerbirds, Pale Yellow Robins, Grey-headed Robins, Whipbirds, etc

Full board walk to and around the tree makes for excellent viewing. Very short walk around.

Definitely worth a quick stop! Very impressive to see in person. There is a short boardwalk that allows you to walk around the tree. Just a few minutes off the main road.

Volcanic lake in a small national park. Has some good trees to see. Boathouse cafe has always been main drawcard. Tour boat is fun. Nice spot for afternoon tea. Small gift shop. Lake is packed with Tilapia, but also some eels and decent birdlife.

Fantastic circuit walk around the lake. Well maintained with lots of interesting flora and fauna along the way. We saw a couple of red-bellied black snakes getting some sun, and also 3 musky rat kangaroos. Lots of bird life to enjoy as well.

Beautiful place! The tea house is amazing. I wouldn’t really recommend the lake circuit walk though, it’s mainly under the canopy without viewpoints. It’s a short and easy walk though, around 5km/1hr, so nice to stretch the legs.

Absolutely love lake barrine. The teahouse serves amazing local food with a view of the lake. Theres a nice walking track around the Lake. A very relaxing and peaceful visit.

The teahouse there is excellent! Friendly staff; it's a charming, secluded place (during the week, at least) for lunch or afternoon tea; also a great place for a swim -- it's down the steps and into the cool, clear water. One of the highlights of our Queensland visit.

I nice place to go and exercise with friends and family. A sloppy up and down path get you most excited and challenging to reach the destination. A wonderful waterfall comes out with a cool water flow would likely refresh you after exhausting effort to reach it out.

The walking trail is sealed concrete the whole way which makes for easy walking. Trail does have many undulations so make sure you are fairly fit to get the most enjoyment out of the walk. Nice swimming spot at the top of the trail.

Beginner-friendly, easily accessible fully paved track, with a few swimming spots and amazing lookouts. Well worth the leg burn.

Decent walk. The path is all concrete - not a dirt track. The path is quite steep in many places to make sure that you are wearing shoes with a decent grip. The waterfall is right at the end and you can climb down onto the rocks. Take care - it is steep and can get slippery. Reccomend as a moderate challenge. It took about 1.5 hours with a few stops for photos.

What a beautiful place for a swim! The walk to the top falls is about 3kms on a tarred services road, it is quite hilly in spots so be prepared to sweat a little. Very similar feel to the Babinda Boulders and just as dangerous so take caution if you decide to swim at all, very strong unpredictable currents in parts but lovely spot to swim at the top. 40 minute walk up a paved path with a few grunty climbs but well rewarded with an awesome swim at the base of the beautiful Clamshell Waterfall. Stunning.

A great walk. Definitely not easy so wear a pair of decent shoes and carry a water bottle. It took us around 45mins to get to the end of the track. The view is amazing up there 🙌

Very enjoyable afternoon and great selection of gins. We didn’t taste the rum or whisky $20 for a tasting of 6 spirits of your choice so we chose the gin. Walked away with 3 bottles 😁

Spirits, Scenery, and Surprising Stories! Mt Uncle Distillery is a gem nestled in the Atherton Tablelands. We visited as part of a tour and were blown away by the entire experience. The grounds are stunning—it's so lush and peaceful, and the friendly wildlife, like the beautiful peacocks and inquisitive geese, just wandering around, adds a wonderful charm to the place. The bar area is beautifully styled with a great rustic-industrial feel. The spirits themselves are world-class, but the real highlight was hearing the story behind the Botanic Australis Bushfire Smoked Gin. It has such a unique smoky flavor, and the legend of its creation just adds an incredible layer of intrigue! It’s an amazing example of turning a local event into a brilliant, award-winning product. If you're in Tropical North Queensland, make the trip. Great atmosphere.

The venue and product is great. However the bloke behind the bar was not friendly, not accommodating to customers wishes and didn’t make us feel welcome at all. We ordered some tasting palettes and the young lady who served us was great. There were cocktails on the menu and we asked for a couple of cocktails and unfortunately we were met with a definite no. The guy said they were too busy to make a simple cocktail yet we were the only ones there. The guy advised us there was a tour bus coming and he would not have enough time to make a cocktail and clean up before the bus arrived. We found this a bit hard to believe as we were the only people in the place. We were a group of 8 and we asked for only 2 cocktails. We felt we were not welcome which was shame because we enjoyed the product and were prepared to purchase several bottles but after our experience we left. They didn’t get a sale and unfortunately we won’t be back. Great customer service can trump even an inferior product equally bad customer service can diminish a good product. We will remember a poor experience over a great product.

My family and I came up to show our Victorian relatives Mt Uncles. It has been about 1yr since our last visit. We were pleasantly surprised by thr main area open. It was extremely professional and the wait staff were efficient and kind. 1 person making cocktails and tasting boards she was very busy but nothing phased her. I will be hoping they will allow a large xmas party for my businesses in Cairns. Cheers to Mt Uncles.

Went here prior to the pandemic. Waited 20 minutes for a tasting only to be told they were closing because they were going to a wedding. Tried again today. Place had expanded significantly but no tastings because it was closed for two days while hosting wedding. Not trying again. Suggest closed for the day on their signage might improve customer relations. That or have the staff to run both arms of the business.

Only did a day pass for $15 for adults to feed the wallaby’s and do the hikes. We did both the easy & the challenging red hike. Both hikes were good but the best was the challenging one. Definitely have appropriate footwear on. Had a great couple of hours and would highly recommend

I regret coming here. I was in shock to see birds in small cages, with no space to fly and little stimulation for them to exist. The place is beautiful, and we spotted some rock Wallabies, so that was cool, but I feel it is unethical to have birds in such a small enclosure. The place has so much potential to be great, it is beautiful by itself and does not need captive birds! I regret visiting it, hopefully my review helps prevent others from supporting a business that keeps birds in such bad condition.

Disappointed by our day visit to Granite Gorge Nature Park. The place is quite pretty, but not breathtaking, and the entrance fee is $15 per adult just for a 1.5 km walk. Even taking our time, we didn’t spend more than 1.5 hours in the park, which makes it quite expensive for what it is. We only saw three wallabies and no turtles, but that’s part of the game and not really the main issue. The animals are completely domesticated, far from the wild and natural experience you might expect. Birds and reptiles were kept in cages, which doesn’t align with our values either. The only positive point was the kindness of the receptionist when we arrived.

We arrived and asked the lady if we could view the map to see what was on offer for the $15 per person they charge.. she told us No! And said she would walk us into the deck to point out where we hold go and what’s available- then there’s the poor birds geeze.. very sad, kept in small cages with nothing but a stick or two to stand on, then over in the cocky cages those poor buggers are in there 24/7 they can’t fly and again just a stick or two to stand on, only seed and water no fresh foods - you’d think charging $15 a hit she could afford to care for the animals better then she does, very disappointing and not supporting someone who doesn’t care for animals and is only in it to make a dollar

Went for the walk around the nature park - spectacular rocks and pools, cute wallabies eager to be fed, rumours of turtles. Path was a little hard to follow in some places and a few of the concrete steps bolted into some of the step rock sections have come adrift. Allow at least an hour for the short walk. $15 per adult. Worth the trip if you are in the area

I gave this a 5 as I really enjoyed our afternoon there. It's a very cool landscape and we enjoyed the boulder hopping. My son loved holding the python. There's a spot to swim in the weir. We didn't camp but facilities looked fine. I'd happily of stayed a couple of nights in my camper.

Despite the gorge being naturally beautiful, it was not worth the money. They have many birds in small cages with nothing but a couple sticks to stand on. I have worked in animals rescue and we would never keep birds in conditions like this. They have no form of stimulation at all and have no room to freely fly. They clearly don’t have much care for the animals happiness and it was extremely disappointing. It doesn’t matter if birds are “bred in captivity”, that is no excuse for the size of the cages. I would not recommend supporting a place that treats their animals like this.

We found the Museum to be a delightful surprise. The entry tickets were inexpensive. There is a nice gift store at the entry. Once you walk through the grounds, there is alot to discover. It was very interesting, the exhibits and displays were special, so authentic. Like goibg back in time, and learning all the stories about the early settlers and migrants who came to the area. How tough the conditions were, how they lived, farmed, built communities, supported the war effort and so on. Just wonderful. The cafe serves a very tasty lunch. I recommend it.

A gem of a community museum which we came across by chance. There are exhibits about the life and crafts of settlers and aboriginals in days gone by. There’s an old railway carriage and a rail ambulance. An old wooden house has been moved here and lovingly restored.

We recently visited the museum and had some snacks in the cafe out the back. The museum is wonderful. So much history there and something really cool-was the option to scan a code on my phone which enabled me to select different exhibits from the list and an audio played that explained the exhibit & its’ relevance. A cool old train and other equipment out the back, all exhibits have been carefully created & it’s obvious that a lot of time and effort has gone into each one. Lovely people to greet us & explain the ins & outs. It cost $5pp entry (non-locals) and was definitely worth it. I highly recommend visiting.

A lovely oasis in the backstreets of Mareeba. Good coffee and cakes with a small brekky/lunch menu from the resident food truck. The ambience is fantastic in the lovely courtyard dining area and the gift shop has some amazing handmade local offerings. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a MUST when visiting the Tablelands. Great coffee and food, relaxing atmosphere, loads of interesting products, to-die-for chocolate! If you lack spending self-control, DON'T COME HERE 😂.

Coffee is awesome, so many favours and brilliant chocolate maker on site amongst a warehouse full of clothes, liquors, and household gift...a must stop when visiting Mareeba.

What a gem in Mareeba. I had a beautiful mocha (dark, white or milk choc choices available) and the loveliest Korean chicken burger. Then I spent a good 15 min browsing the merchandise in the shop.

Funky, full of interesting local foods and produce, great coffee and lovely atmosphere. An excellent place to take friends, buy local souvenirs and relax over lunch or coffee. A great affogato! Plenty of parking. Prices really good - my affogato was $9.50 and freshly baked cake and scones around $6-$8. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Outdoor seating is plentiful.

I heard such great things about this place from my aunty who lives locally and has been visiting regularly for the past decade or so and disappointing is an understatement. Went for breakfast and the food truck menu meant we had to have food in takeaway containers - very wasteful and unnecessary when it’s right next to the kitchen with plates and cutlery for the cakes. Unfortunately I have a real sensitivity to onion so the salsa on the avo toast special was unexpected and left a bad taste in my mouth even though I had scraped it off the soggy bread it wasn’t as appalling as the service. The server in the food truck seemed like they didn’t want to be there and the team all gossiping behind the counters didn’t come out and clear any of the tables until they saw their friends come in, but it was going into the gift shop to get something for my partner when things got worse. A staff member who also seemed inconvenienced to be working in the store later served us and was blunt and rude to my aunty (she was nice to me when I was on my own but perhaps because I’m foreign) The coffee was nice, but the vibes were way off. Would recommend buying coffee from there but not enduring the staff longer than you have to

I’ve stopped here a few times on my early morning ride and always amazed they’re open early on a Sunday. Very pleasant staff and they make a nice strong, rich and smooth cappuccino for me. Gives me the extra oomph to get home on the bike. The price of coffee has gone up everywhere, but the price of everything has, so it’s no surprise I guess!

Lovely venue and Coffee was great! Food used to be good here back in the day. But the food portions now are too small, and the quality has dropped for the price you pay. Small basket of 12 chips exactly, tiny salad, burger bun and cheese are highly processed and pulled beef inside was cold. 3 Meals for $75 and indigestion afterwards...

We stumbled across this place by accident. Our maps took us a different way to Port Douglas and we found a hidden gem!!! Great customer service, awesome food and most of all the best coffee we have ever had! Would recommend this place to anyone that loves their coffee!!

Purchased the coffee tasting paddle which included the video of how the plantation started. Ordered a scone as well. The tasting paddle was really nice and different liqueurs were nice. The movie was very informative and I had no idea how much was involved. Scone was very good.

Great quiet atmosphere where you don't have the loudness of crowds. I ordered the Greek salad with haloumi, along with the cinnamon mocha Iced coffee. Was yummy 😋 and all I could fault was that the size of the Iced mocha was not worth $9, as it is served in a small glass. But that could be a bit petty on my part as it too was delicious. Service was terrific with the young Lady allowing me to watch the Movie without the $27 deal as that involves a tasting plate of coffees including liqueurs that I don't drink. They should really allow the Movie free of charge for those who dine in as an incentive as I was so encouraged to support the Jacques family in their shop to buy coffee afterwards, because of the Movie. This was well put together too guys. From a giggle to some tears and left with a smile from the family's endurance and tenacity to NEVER give up the dream. Well Done! Very inspirational.

Staff were lovely and so accommodating. Coffee was top tier and the scones were INCREDIBLE! Not a big drinker but did like the liquor. Loved the informative video. 10/10 definitely recommend.

I loved every second of it. The Great Barrier Reef has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I finally got the chance to come to Cairns to see it. I was told scuba diving on the outer reef was the best to do, but most tours required a scuba licence or gave a lot of training time and little scuba time. This tour offered the outer reef with a marine biologist whilst still snorkelling as an additional option. We were blessed with good weather and calm waters on this day. It was awesome. As a beginner snorkeller, this tour was perfect. I gained confidence in the morning snorkelling in shallow waters and seeing beautiful fish and some colour. Then, I went out to the outer reef with the biologist in the afternoon, and I was blown away with what I saw and learned. It was stunning and a real experience of the reef. In my opinion, the time was just enough as a new reef explorer. 1 hour is quite a while snorkelling in deep water if you're not used to it. I would love to do it again, though! Also, by hanging on the pier after the last session, I saw 4 turtles, 3 black tipped sharks, and jumping fish! That was a reel bonus. I don't know if that's common, but the opportunity to catch something swimming by in crystal clear water is there as well. The buffet was awesome to boot. I highly recommend the tour. There are hidden markets and a beautiful walk on the island too that are part of the resort, I think. And Green Island itself? It is an absolute gem. A natural beauty that I'm so glad to have visited and explored.

I recently did a day tour to Green Island with Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The staff were friendly, professional and full of helpful information about the reef and the local wildlife. I particularly enjoyed Anzac's marine biology talks on the way to Green Island and back. The boat was comfortable and well-maintained, making the trip smooth and enjoyable. When we got to the island, the staff assisted us onto the glass bottom boat and submarine, both with unforgettable views of the fish, turtles and reef. Once on Green Island, the scenery was breathtaking. The tropical rainforest is breathtaking. There was plenty to do. Overall, this tour exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cairns who wants a memorable day exploring the Green Barrier Reef and Green Island!

We took the half day tour and it was perfect for my family. We picked from a mix of glass bottom tour, semi sub, and snorkeling. For beginners, a half day gives you enough time to snorkel at both beaches on Green Island + the semi sub. Alternatively, you can do the glass bottom boat + semi sub if you’d rather not swim. We saw turtles, sting rays, and hundreds of fish on the semi-sub; saw fewer fish with snorkeling. Thanks for a great day!

My wife and I had a great time with the crew visiting Green Island. Highly recommend the full day tour with snorkeling of the reefs, the glass boat and adventuring around the island. Crew on board were friendly and knowledge and helped us feel safe.

We booked the full day Green Island Tour and had a fantastic time snorkelling. No shortage of turtles and we were even lucky enough to see whales. The professional young team on the boat went out of their way to make the experience enjoyable for everyone. Although the vessel is on the older side, the amenities, including toilets, were spotless. The bar also has reasonably priced drinks, such as Corona beer, for $9 per bottle. Drinking water is free which is an added bonus.

The crew were awesome. We did go on a day when it was quite windy but if you sit down and enjoy the ride it’s nice. We were given our snorkelling gear when we got on the boat so we had to hang on to them the whole time. Next time we will get our gear when we get to the island. The buffet lunch was a good feed just b4 our snorkelling adventure.

Amazing trip over the green island. On time and the staff were very helpful and accomodating with our pram and toddler. Prepared us with details of the day so we didn’t miss anything for the half day tour. Highly recommend the glass bottom boat tour!

Some people say public pools can have an unpleasant smell, but I didn’t notice any urine smell at all The depth of the water goes up to 1.55m in the deeper areas, so you can comfortably submerge up to your neck, which made it even more enjoyable.

The pool itself is huge, well-maintained, and has plenty of shallow areas, making it great for families with kids as well as adults just looking to relax. One of the things I love most is that it’s completely free! It’s rare to find such a high-quality public facility at no cost. There are lifeguards on duty, which adds a layer of safety, and the water is always crystal clear. The surrounding area is also great, with BBQ facilities, shaded spots, and plenty of seating for those who just want to enjoy the atmosphere.

Great place for children to play and adults to enjoy the surroundings there. Can be quite busy but so worth the time to see the picturesque scenery

Many different areas for kids to play all with one gorgeous view! The play equipment is all in great condition and there are many an employee about who are tending to the landscaping and cleanliness of the Esplanade There are public bathrooms and showers available along with a water play area for little ones. Overall a wonderful place to take the family for some time together.

This has got to be one of the best playgrounds in the world. It's the best I've ever seen, has everything for all ages. A nice cafe nearby and great view of the ocean. A must visit if you have kids and are in Cairns!

What an amazing playground, for children of all ages. It's cleaned regularly by council which makes it a lovely experience. It's surrounded by trees for shade, lots of seating for parents to watch, and lots of different play equipment and water activities for the children. There are even toilets and a cafe for a cuppa. The best park I've been to in years! 5 stars for originality, colour and fun!

Such an awesome park. I loved how there were different sections so if you have a younger or older child child it cratered for both. There is a water play area too which was lots of fun.

Great train ride, good views and at the scenic locations the train even slows down to enjoy the views! The combination of train ride and the gondola is not cheap, but its an unique experience with a rich history.

We took the railway up and the cable car down. It was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed the commentary about the railway and the views. It was well organised and there were clean restrooms and a cafe at the station while you wait for the train. Everything ran efficiently and was well organised. We highly recommend this experience A+++

The handouts are great, and it was really nice to follow along with the map, corresponding to the audio voice over at points of interest. There was a brief stop at Barron Falls to allow a better view of the waterfall. A truly lovely experience.

A truly spectacular and scenic journey! The Kuranda Scenic Railway is a must-do for anyone visiting Cairns. The old-school train carriages are charming, and the ride through the rainforest is breathtaking. The views of Barron Falls are incredible, and it's amazing to see the engineering of the track. A perfect way to experience the beauty of the Wet Tropics.

Best views are on the right side of the train. Unfortunately, you won't have a say in it. Seats are preassigned. Also, if you are up to it, get down at Barron Falls and do a trek to Kuranda village. It takes you about 45 minutes to get there.

It's a lovely long beach for a walk patrolled so safe to swim within the flags but oh so windy on the day we went. We had coffee and cake just across from the beach. Everywhere is so busy different from the Ellis beach vibe.

Beautiful beach good for swimming and surfing. Lifeguard watch area for safe swimming. Kids and enjoy playing in water and also some play area on the beach.Parking a bit difficult on the beach but can get spots at the side streets. And also there is a place for shower and change.

Luv Palm Cove. Absolutely beautiful place. Lovely walk out to the pier North and a great long walk South, access via Triton St, behind Nu Nu Restaurant. Lots a really nice foodie places including an Irish Pub, Espresso & Co & Vivo!

Beautiful place. Plenty of water points to wash your feet and have shower. Tables for BBQ etc, I liked there is grassy bit you can lie on too.

Wow, a very unexpected find. Driving through from Palm Cove to Port Douglas, when we noticed these rocks. A beach area where all the rocks have been stacked, makes for some very interesting photos. I highly recommend pulling over for a look if your driving past.

The Gatz Balacing Rocks Visited on 18/7/2022 If you have a spare hour or so, take a drive on the Captain Cook Highway, along the coast from Palm Cove, pass Ellis Beach, to this tourist spot and try stacking up some rocks, and balaacing them. No, I do not big rocks, and yet they are reasonably heavy for some young children to lift. This is a place for families with children to enjoy some quality time. It is road side parking, so be careful with traffic travelling fast on the highway. There is no well made path to get down from the road level to the beach. Do take your time so that you do not slip. There is nothing that catches my eyes for specific mention. The sea is not that rough, but the temperature of the water is too cold for anyone to go for a dip.

Lovely views like all along the Great Barrier Reef drive plus a couple of stacked up rocks, come and make your own pile as well ;)

Fun place to build a rock tower, feel the sand between your toes and look out over the ocean. Just be very careful trying to turn in, as it is on the main highway and there is no turning bay.

Great place to stop and pay tribute to your loved ones that have passed away. Take time to build your own balancing rock tower in a great location. Be careful turning out if coming from Cairns to Port Douglas.

Hartley’s Crocodile Farm is such a fun day out, something we always recommend to travelers visiting Cairns or Australia. The whole park is very relaxed for you to wonder around at your own pace. Wear comfortable shoes and I highly recommend a hat and some water. The heat can get stifling under the shade sails during the shows just due to the lack of airflow so be aware of that if going on a warm day with kids or older members. That said, you can easily spend the whole day here exploring with a number of great shows to watch as well as the included boat ride around the lagoon. Our fave though is always the 3 pm Croc Attack Show… definitely must see! If you can stick around then it’s so worth it! The café is surprisingly good too, with a solid range of both hot or fresh food options at I’d say reasonably fair prices for an attraction park like this. My only gripe with Hartleys and the reason for four stars instead of five… is the constant state of the bathrooms. I have been coming here for 8yrs now and sadly they’re consistently gross, which is a shame because the rest of the park is so well looked after. I understand it’s busy but sending someone to clean frequently would honestly go so far. Still, it’s a fantastic experience overall. As our Texan friends recently put it… It’s a great way to see a lot of Australias animals close up in one place in one day!

I have never come across such beautiful staff in my life. From the vibrant lady at reception desk, to the entertaining boat guys, the enthusiastic croc rangers, the funny photographers, Amy the ranger aswell. All staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. They all have lovely personalities and very sweet. I noticed how comfortable they made everyone feel around us. So proud of you all. Thank YOU ALL! ♥️

Great experience with a lot of things to see. Not only crocs, but also snakes, koalas and a lot more! Loved the snake and croc shows. Super crowded on school holidays. 6 sits in a row on the boat, so if you are placed last you are likely to be far away from the action behind people trying to film. Expect queues everywhere and maybe skip one with BYO lunch.

Our visit to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures was one of the highlights of our trip to Tropical North Queensland! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how well-organized the park was and how passionate the staff were about the animals and conservation. The boat cruise on Hartley’s Lagoon was absolutely amazing — getting so close to huge saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat was both thrilling and fascinating! The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining, sharing lots of interesting facts about crocodile behavior and how the park helps with conservation efforts. We also loved the various wildlife shows throughout the day — especially the croc feeding and snake presentation. Each one was engaging, informative, and fun for all ages. It was great to see how well the animals are cared for and how much the staff clearly love what they do. All in all, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Cairns or Port Douglas. It’s the perfect mix of excitement, education, and authentic Australian wildlife encounters. We left with big smiles, great photos, and a new appreciation for these incredible creatures!

Harley’s Croc Adv was out of this world. One of the most amazing and exciting places we’ve visited as a family. The shows are so amazing and a must do for all kids as well. It teaches you so much. And guys who do the show are Brady and informative as well. In face I strongly believe it should be a must do for all kids. If you’re in Australia you must visit this place.

Because I care about animals, I wouldn’t go to a zoo, but this animal park gives its animals plenty of space to walk around freely, and they also keep protected species. At first, I was a little put off because it felt like the park was mainly designed for families and children—but maybe we just visited on a busy day. You can easily spend half a day here and see and learn about so many animals. And I don’t just mean crocodiles, although the crocodile feeding was spectacular. I actually enjoyed simply walking around at my own pace even more, because it gave me the chance to see many Australian animals up close. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The only downside was the food—it looked sloppy and unhealthy. Considering the quality and quantity of the experience, I found the entrance fee was quite reasonable!

Overall a very positive experience. We did the breakfast with the birds and it was very good, the food was decent enough quality and there was plenty of it. The facility itself is good, but could use a bit of a facelift, some parts looked a bit old. The birds are very beautiful and the aviaries are very nicely laid out. The highlight was hand feeding the kangaroos. You can freely feed and pet the kangaroos. This experience moved this review from a 3 to a 4. Definitely a highlight. Buy kangaroo food on the way in!! The negative, The keepers giving the talks about the animals were not Australian. This detracted from the experience. I would rather have Australian people teaching about Australian animals. Compare this to Hartleys where the staff are very Australian and it added to the experience.

Great insights into local wildlife...including the amazing Cassowary! Cute Koalas, wide variety of birds. Unfortunately no crocodiles on view, but we may have missed our chance. Well set out and maintained. Helpful front desk and canteen staff. A worthwhile visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast with the birds experience! This is such a wonderful and unique experience. Getting to meet Elvis and Nico was an absolute highlight of the morning. We also got to meet the koalas and had an opportunity to take photos and learn about the animals in a relaxed environment. The breakfast was substantial with free flowing juice, tea, and coffee as well as a beautifully presented breakfast platter complete with crepes, eggs, bacon, toast, and more! We also enjoyed wandering around the rest of the park and thought there was excellent value in the talks and presentations throughout the morning.

What a lovely afternoon. We decided to visit this afternoon. It is a small sanctuary, relaxed and the staff are lovely. We were lucky enough see the pelican talk which was perfect, fed kangaroos, saw lots and lots of different birds and got up and close with the cutest baby koala. A beautiful afternoon with my son ❤️

Lovely sanctuary that helps animals rehabilitate in their own natural habitat. No cages, animals are free to fly and roam. Kid friendly with cafe and feed the kangaroos. Animals have people free spaces if they don't feel like interacting which is great. I don't support zoo's but definitely highly recommend this place that help wildlife in need. You really get up close and personal with the animals.

A great family friendly wild life park to visit, alot smaller than Australia zoo but had great features like eating breakfast with the birds, the birds are so friendly. We did the swim with the salties, even though you are on the other side of the glass being that close to 500kg / 4.5 mtr long crocodile at feeding time was unreal. The power of those jaws. Recommended if in Port Douglas.

We love visiting! We have done the breakfast with the birds twice now! The kids absolutely loved interacting with the birds and feeding the kangaroos! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My 9 year old especially liked Elvis the black cockatoo and Mitch the pink cockatoo 😊 we also liked learning about the Cassowarys! We would highly recommend going if you get the chance!

Really nice beach to have a wander down. It's not the perfect golden sand and crystal blue water that looks so picturesque...but, it's still a really nice place for a stroll in the sun. We were warned not to swim due to the salt water crocodiles! There is a controlled swimming area closer to the town though and you can walk all the way down there, from the resorts further down.

Beautiful beach. We went swimming in between the nets, the water was super beautiful and WARM. Unfortunately they had the net in the area of water that had a lot of sea weed in it and they were all over and so so so gross to touch. We took the drone up and noticed that was the ONLY area of the beach with seaweed in it, why wouldn't they move the nets? So weird but we had fun! Dangers: Saltwater crocodiles, marine stingers, touching a sea-plant with your body.

One of the most amazing beaches I've ever been to. Depending on the tide, you can walk out 100m+ into the ocean. Just keep an eye out for Crocs! (Not a joke!)

Nice beach. No surf due to Barrier Reef. Good for walking, but be careful. If fishing, please don't leave dead fish or fish guts around. Swim at your own risk due to Araki jellyfish and salt water crocs. These crocs may lurk near the water's edge at times. During the tourist season, there may be a safe swimming netted area; haven't been able to confirm. Be careful, and don't get sunburnt!

My goodness, it was the best coastline I have ever seen! The sand is soo white and the water is soo calm! I really have to go back here!

Absolutely beautiful. Attended a wedding and it was quaint and cosy and beautiful. Grounds around are very well kept, view out the main window adds an extra personality. On a hot day it would cook, but there's a little speaker system, and the inside looked recently painted - very crispy and clean white which elevated it

A beautiful heritage listed historical church near the centre of town and beach. Originally built in 1880 and rebuilt after a cyclone in 1911. Relocated to this site in 1988 and restored soon after. Non denominational with community worship every Sunday at 11am.

A very quaint Church used for weddings and other gatherings. The exterior is very idyllic with palms shading manicured lawns. The interior was cleaned for an upcoming wedding ceremony. While I took photos a couple came by and said they had their wedding right there 25 years earlier and nothing's changed.

Beautiful Quaint little church right on the beach in Port Douglas. Absolutely amazing view when you walk into the church and the front window opens in you can see the ocean the whole time while the wedding is happening. Amazing priest with a great sense of humor.

A good sized market on flat ground right on the waterfront. Great fresh veggies as well as amazing artwork and creative ideas, many very unique and original of high quality. Easy nearby, on street parking.

A Perfect Sunday in Port Douglas If you are in Port Douglas on a Sunday, the farmers market is the place to be. It has such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and it really captures the charm of the town. The location could not be better. The market is set right by the water, so while you wander through the stalls you get beautiful views of the ocean and palm trees swaying in the breeze. It feels tropical and laid back, exactly what you would hope for in Far North Queensland. The variety of stalls is fantastic. There are plenty of local farmers selling fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs straight from their gardens. The tropical fruit is incredible and so much fresher than what you usually find in shops. Alongside the produce there are stalls with handmade crafts, clothes, artwork, skincare and all sorts of unique gifts. It is the kind of market where you find something different every time you go. One of the highlights is the food. You can grab a fresh juice, taste local coffee, or enjoy a snack while listening to street performers. It is easy to spend a couple of hours just eating, shopping and soaking up the vibe. The people make it even better. Both stallholders and visitors are friendly and chatty, and you can tell there is a real sense of community. It does not feel touristy in a forced way, more like an authentic gathering of locals that welcomes visitors to join in. After the market it is only a short walk to the main street or down to Four Mile Beach, so you can easily turn it into a full day out. Overall the Port Douglas Sunday Market is a must if you are anywhere nearby. It combines the best of local food, art and atmosphere in a stunning waterfront setting. Spending a Sunday morning here is the perfect way to experience the spirit of Port Douglas.

Lots of local natural products from soap, candles, creams and lotions to choose from. A few food and drink vendors available. Large array of silver and mixed jewellery with a focus on local gems and opals. Solid assortment of clothes and baby clothes

Excellent local market mainly for arts and crafts rather than produce.

A weekly treat for the locals and visitors alike. Lots of variety, much of it useful in daily life. Nice snacks, treats, drinks, clothes, hats, jewellery, etc … usual fare, but with a relaxing atmosphere. Most of the walking is under the shade of the huge trees in the park. Decent sized markets. And just behind the park, the beautiful tropical waters of the Coral Sea.

Had a great day out at the markets in Port Douglas and we had lunch at Rattle and Hum in the main drag. Busy place we enjoyed the day and will be back again if we can get into the caravan park it's really booked out most of the year.

Held every Sunday from 8am to 1.30pm. Set in Anzac Park at the top end of Macrossan St. Large with over 100 stalls selling fresh produce, handmade crafts and souvenirs etc. Also coffee and locally made ice cream available. A pleasant wander and browse.

Stopped there on a Monday and all the fun flavours were not available. We ended up getting chocolate and vanilla and were very disappointed with their taste. The texture was ok but it had a very strong milk aftertaste that I didn't expect/enjoy. The chocolate was nowhere to be found and the vanilla seemed to be frozen milk.

If you have to choose between Daintree Ice Cream Company and here, go with Daintree. It's way better. The "ice cream" here had an icy texture, like frost bitten, watered down icee. Not creamy like normal ice cream at all. There was over 10 flavors, we tried 3. The flavors are accurate but very light. Ice cream are all pre packaged in small cups, not scooped to order. Outdoor seating only. I don't recommend at all

Such a cute little spot! Amazing ice cream all homemade. Unique ice cream flavour blends. We loved the Daintree rainforest and coconut passion fruit flavour they are must try’s! The owner is supper friendly and welcoming.

This is the best ice cream in Daintree! You definitely have to try their signature 'Daintree Rainforest' icecream. While unique, this is the most refreshing icecream I have ever tasted. You will not regret it.

We visited this ice creamery mid January, seems very quiet as we're the only customers there. I mean you can't get any better than a tropical ice cream in the middle of a rainforest. The flavours are very unique, yellow sapote was my favourite out of the three. Definitely worth a visit whilst in the Daintree.

I had a packet of cigarettes in my hand I was told to not Smoke ( which I already knew). I had a cigarette in the carpark before i came in. Then I was told where to sit. Very messy and needs some love. The Ice cream is not as good as an unnamed one further along the road and the staff were a lot more pleasant to speak with and more choice.

The homemade icecream was delicious. Not too sweet. The people working here were lovely people and very kind. They have a variety of icecream flavours, good coffee and a variety of soft drinks and fizzy drinks that are organic and low in sugar.
