Bicheno Blowhole

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Bicheno Blowhole is a natural wonder on the rocky coastline, where waves transform into powerful jets of water during high tide. This attraction is formed by the erosion of volcanic rock and constantly changes in size and shape due to the sea's forces. It's a popular tourist spot easily accessible from the town center. Bicheno also offers shops, galleries, and nearby national parks like Freycinet National Park and Douglas Apsley National Park.
It is lovely to come here and take a small walk. There is plenty of free parking available in front of the walkway. The rocks look a little bit like the ones in Bay of Fires with the red rocks. The blowhole is quite cool to see, it is not very big though. Nice for a small walk!
Fan — Google review
Great spot to see. I loved the sounds that came from the waves hitting the blowhole and you can get super close to it. Added bonus was that I got to see a sea lion too!
Belinda N — Google review
It is… a blowhole. Not very big, and not more special than any other blowholes. Though the red stained rocks are pretty beautiful. Would skip this if you are short of time - not worth any detour especially. If you do go, however, do be sure to stop by Lobster ShackT Tasmania for some lobsters. Those were delicious.
Matt H — Google review
Had lots of laughs here. The blow hole didn't disappoint. We even found a rock pool with baby "somethings" in it. Some looked like wrigglers (mosquito larvae) and some looked like fish... I will leave it to the experts to comment on that 😀
Jenny F — Google review
We went at sunset, and got fairly good lighting for a few different shots. The blowhole seemed to only get high when I wasn't ready with the camera. Parking is just a little asphalt section to the side, so maybe busy times it might be difficult to park (we had no trouble on a weekday afternoon)
Mitchell D — Google review
Even though the ocean was calm and the Bicheno Blowhole stayed quiet, the place was still full of magic. My 5-year-old spent hours exploring the rocks and nature — his kind of paradise!
Carolin S — Google review
The Bicheno Blowhole is one of Tasmania’s coastal highlights. Just a short walk from the car park, this spot offers a spectacular display as waves crash through the rocks and shoot high into the air — especially impressive at high tide. Surrounded by smooth granite boulders and ocean views, it’s perfect for photography or a peaceful stop along the east coast. Visit around sunset for a chance to spot fairy penguins nearby. Free, easy to access, and well worth the visit.
Roshan — Google review
What a fabulous pice of coastline. A small 3km walk takes you over the huge granite boulders and a small harbour in Bicheno. Fantastic views of the beaches and surrounding islands with seals and other wildlife.

Bicheno Penguin Tours offers a guaranteed way to see the cute fairy penguins up close. The beach at Bicheno is stunning and staying in this local area provides a more affordable and less touristy option compared to Coles Bay. Visitors have had an amazing experience with the penguin tour, getting as close as 6 feet away from the adorable creatures. Despite being fully booked, the tour was not overcrowded, allowing for good viewing of the penguins coming ashore.
Great night time experience with Bicheno Penguin Tours. Very knowledgeable great service and well organised tour. Could not have been simpler. Very accommodating to families. Bonus was that the penguins were on show seeing about 20-25 with a mix of those parading and nesting.
Troy S — Google review
Absolutely must do when touristing Tasmania! The whole experience was extremely worth it. We did the second session of the night, and in my opinion that was the best one, getting the best of seeing the penguins and getting to stay there the longest. The guides are extremely knowledgeable, Connor knew heaps of great little facts and you could tell how much he cared for the little penguins. Pair this experience with dinner beforehand at the Food'n'Brew next door for a great night!
Mitchell D — Google review
Friendly and informative tour guides. We were fortunate enough to see a few groups of penguin make their way up from the sea to shore.we also saw the first two chicks for the season. Knowing they’re able to breed in a safer environment due to this education for locals and visitors to this area was a highlight for me. Small enough groups to ensure good visuals of the penguins as well as other mammals living on the shoreline. Definitely worth the fee, knowing I’m contributing to the program. Highly recommended.
Robyn F — Google review
Excellent experience. We were lucky enough to see so many penguins in many different areas across the rookery. They were adorable and it was amazing to watch them in their natural habitat. The tour was also very informative and our tour guide, Conor, was extremely knowledgeable and really cared about the penguins. Would definitely recommend.
MIKAELA H — Google review
A unique experience for my husband and I and would definitely recommend. Our guide was so friendly and informative. Despite her advice on how we needed to behave around the penguins, eg no flash when taking photos, no movement when they near us, etc there was still visitors who ignored the advice and needed to be reminded, on more than one occasion. At one stage, I reminded someone, as politely as possible, to adhere to her instructions. Amazing experience, thank you for the opportunity to view these beautiful creatures.
Amanda M — Google review
When the sun slipped behind the horizon, the beach turned into a secret stage. Under a sky dusted with stars, tiny blue penguins emerged from the waves — shaking off the sea, calling softly to each other, and waddling home in little groups. The sound of the ocean and their gentle footsteps felt like a lullaby only the coast could sing.
Crystal H — Google review
Amazing experience, as the tour guides explained everything so perfectly, with amazing opportunities for photography and taking in the sights around you. So much amazing wildlife to see, with a guaranteed bundle of penguins to sight, and many more animals in a wild habitat. The jobs they do in order to protect the penguins are also spectacular, appreciating the careful restrictions they must abide by, whilst giving both the penguins, and the tourists a stunning experience.
OZ N — Google review
We had a brilliant evening learning about these gorgeous creatures. Our guide, Dean (I think) was knowledgeable and made the facts interesting. We were given time to watch the penguins come up the beach as well as to see those who had already reached their nests. Thank you for such a fun evening. Thanks also to the bus driver who had the bus toasty warm on our return.

East Coast Natureworld

Wildlife refuge
Nature & Parks
East Coast Natureworld is a 150-acre wildlife sanctuary located in Bicheno, just 7km north of the township. The park features paths that wind through lagoon and forest areas, allowing visitors to observe Tasmanian mammals, reptiles, and birds in their natural habitat. Visitors can witness the feeding of Tasmanian Devils and get up close to wallabies, kangaroos, snakes, quolls, and other native Tasmanian fauna as well as non-native animals.
We loved every minute here (and spent close to 2 hours here without even realising!). Had the most amazing wombat encounter (if you’re on the fence, just do it - Dottie, one of the resident wombats, climbed into my lap like a cat!). The merch was well priced, the guides were lovely and we would do this again over the Unzoo.
Sairah R — Google review
As someone from the mainland who has been to bigger zoos and seen it all but just cant get enough, I have to say do NOT skip over this beautiful little sanctuary. You get up nice and close with the animals and really get to admire them. The guides are full of knowledge and really love what they do and so do we! Definitely worth spending the extra $ on a cuddle with any of the animals. They are super cute and you won't forget it and all that money is going back into their care. We especially need to look out for our animals in tassie and these guys do just that <3
Saffron H — Google review
Really enjoyed all the animals, especially feeding the Devils - I think one of my favourite animals. The keeper (bushy blonde hair and red beard) was superb - very knowledgeable and friendly. Loved his interaction with the Devils - that lived up to their names
Max U — Google review
What a ripper little zoo! We spent about two hours here feeding wallabies, white wallabies!, Emus (scary), and most importantly Tassie Devils! We were there at feeding time and because we were just about the only people in the park (winter/out of season) we got a private showing with lots of explanations by the lovely wildlife lady. We even got to pat a devil! The bird enclosure was also love with friendly native parrots. All in all a very good and value for money experience.
Oli W — Google review
We had the pleasure of doing the Devils in the Dark tour with Leon last night. Wow what an amazing experience. Leon was the perfect guide so full of information and delivered it perfectly. Being so close to those awesome devils is something I will never forget. If you get a chance do it !
Shani — Google review
Absolutely unreal visit, a much more intimate experience than you'd get at Australia zoo. All the staff clearly loved their jobs and their passion for the animals shows. Definitely a must visit if you are in the area.
Lukas L — Google review
had the most amazing time at the east coast natureworld, we booked in for the baby devil encounter and it was worth every cent. being able to cradle and pat them was an experience I will never forget. the host of our animal encounter (Josh) was very friendly and informative, and it was incredible to have such a unique one-on-one encounter with these lovely devils. definitely recommend coming here whether you're visiting or live local, it's such a great way to get a proper hands-on experience with these beautiful native animals and as I mentioned before, it's truly worth every cent. thankyou to east coast natureworld and especially Josh for such a fantastic and memorable day :)
Jordan S — Google review
I am not usually a huge fan of seeing animals in captivity, but I genuinely enjoyed the „Devils in the Dark“ experience! The animals are considered ambassadors for the conservation efforts of the species and treated as naturally as possible. We got to see seven little devils making a carcase disappear while a knowledgeable guide gave a bunch of interesting information. Absolutely recommend.

We did a short stop thinking they serve lunch but sadly they didn’t on a Wednesday. But they recommend another place, which was kind of them. Did a quick wine tasting (10$) and left. The Gewurz is excellent
The D — Google review
Stopped by here for a quick wine tasting on the way to Bicheno. They’ve got both a restaurant and a cellar door for tastings. The wine was decent, but what really impressed me was the foods, I had a small cheese plate one, really tasty and well-matched with the wine. There’s also a lovely outdoor seating area out back where you can chill and enjoy the vineyard views.
Brian P — Google review
Lovely wine tasting! A $5pp or $10pp option with lots of enjoyable wines. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Delicious cheese board!

Amazing wine, love the Rose ❤️ We've eaten at the restaurant a few times, food is sensational, highly recommended. Lovely presentation, delish flavours, tasty seasonal dishes.

Museum
Specialty Museums
The museum St Marys Cranks and Tinkerers is a delightful discovery, filled with friendly volunteers eager to share their local knowledge. With a variety of exhibits to explore, visitors can enjoy captivating organ playing and engaging stories. This must-visit destination in the region offers a unique collection curated by Ian, the passionate owner. His extensive knowledge is readily shared as he guides guests through this incredible display of items not found elsewhere.
Ian Summers the owner has shared his passion with whoever has an interest in history. From old style phones, aircraft, musical instruments, typewriter, telegraph machine and a replica of an ‘Indian’ motorcycle …..this is an absolute treasure. Remember to bring some change as a small donation towards upkeep. Highly recommend. Very memorable experience!
Shilpa — Google review
This isn’t just a museum. It feels like a memory that’s been left running in the background for decades. A place where rust, gears and forgotten gadgets come to rest - and occasionally whisper. Nothing’s in neat rows. Objects sit together like they’re telling each other stories. You’ll find matchbox cars beside mining relics, typewriters across from toasters, every shelf packed like an archaeological dig into someone's garage-shaped soul. It’s chaotic in the best way. The longer you stay, the more the place starts to feel alive. Ian, the man behind it all, isn’t just a collector. He’s a storyteller, a guide, maybe even a mechanic-priest. He knows the life history of every bolt and battery in the room. I didn’t get to hear him play the banjo, but I could tell it would have been unforgettable. It’s free to enter, but it stays with you. Donations are encouraged. I left feeling slightly rearranged, nearly like a crank had been quietly turned somewhere inside me. Five stars. Deeply odd. Deeply worth it.
R L — Google review
What a delightful stop. A real treasure-trove of knowledge. The gentlman running this marvelous place will welcome you with open arms and delight you with his stories.
Valerie J — Google review
What a delightful place. Ian is wonderful. His passion and enthusiasm are contagious. He’s working on a model boat and it’s magnificent. Definitely worth a trip to St Mary’s for this.
Andrew B — Google review
Fascinating boat builder with a passion to share details of his craft. Could spend all day viewing old tools and stuff
Allan M — Google review
Stopped in as we were passing through and we’re glad we did! The owner is refreshingly friendly, has a superb collection (varied and interesting), and is passionate about his work!
Daniel F — Google review
Ian was amazing, his collection is worth to have a look and appreciate the trickle of time. Nono of the item is for sale as each item is a treasure for Ian.

My Wife and I stopped off here by chance and what a treat it was. Lovely volunteers that were more than happy to have a chat and share their knowledge of the area. There was plenty of exhibits to see. We had a great time listening to some great organ playing and stories . This place should be at the top of your list if you are any where in the region. Highly recommended.

The farm provides a tranquil setting with picturesque views of the ocean and Scamander River. Additionally, the area offers various outdoor activities such as kayaking expeditions, surfing lessons, and mountain biking trails for adventure enthusiasts.
We visited Eureka Farm for a bit of PYO. 23 Dec. In no time, my kids had a full bucket of blackberries, and kid's tongues were bright purple from sampling the fruit. We also got heaps of blackcurrants and redcurrants. We also got some tasty jams and lemons. And a great chat with the owner. Thanks!

YOU GOTTA GO! The 2 owners are grumpy and grumpier. Ask about business, ask about ice-cream, ask about summer pudding. You will come away feeling your life is a glowing ball of happiness after 5 minutes here.

Stopped by to pick some berries and was greated by the lovely owner who advised Blackberries were available to pick today. The biggest, juiciest and delicious berries I’ve had in a long while. Highly recommend.

A fantastic experience! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! We were looked after by hosts caring for the farm while the owners were away. They made us feel very at home and every whim was cared for. I cannot say thank you enough for making our stay so special. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and very tasty with home made jams. A must stay place if you come to Tasmania.
Ann G — Google review
Anne and her husband were great hosts. The little cottage was sparkling clean and easy to find. My kids enjoyed the ice cream. Next time we will stay longer and explore the farm.
Juls K — Google review
The farm was brilliant, a real home away from home. It’s owners really cared about us having a good stay, and were full of suggestions for places to go and see. The accomodation was really well set up, with everything we could want, and delicious fresh fruit to boot! Breakfast was delicious and definitely kept us going. Bonus animals (in particular the dogs!) made it even more great. I can’t recommend it more, both to stay at and to stop in for a delicious treat.

What a great insightful tour, Alisha and her dad David did a great job. They ensured everyone was safe and comfortable. Great info about the area and wildlife. We did the seal tour and really really enjoyed it. Only downside was it was a full boat and my partner and I couldn’t sit together.

While I did not come here for the tour itself, the location is well-equipped with plenty of parking, making it a convenient pit stop during your travels. The stunning scenery alone makes it worth the visit, providing a serene and picturesque setting to enjoy. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick break or to take in the beautiful surroundings, This is a great place to experience the natural beauty of the area. Good Pit Stop.

The tour guide & boat skipper were just brilliant, very informative tour with lots of local knowledge of the area added, the boat also gets really close to the rocks & birds so easy to see . Highly recommended for all ages

This three hour boat trip was the highpoint of our holiday. The tour guides are highly experienced and help nature show her good side! We got lucky and encountered a pod of dolphins on the way back which swam alongside the boat and two albatrosses on the way out.
Simone C — Google review
We went out on a 1 1/2 hr tour. Hugged along the beaches and was provided with information of the local area and its history. We did chanced upon 2 Australian fur seals floating in the area. The highlight of trip is when we cruised into a large pod of dolphins, who obliged us with their playful company.
Steven W — Google review
This review is for the Seals Tour. The Pros: -Small family business running a small group tour. -Pricey BUT exceptional value for money. You really do get what you pay for with this group. -Friendly high spirited hostess. -Captain made every effort to stop at every random encounter that presented itself including seals (one time in the open, then the big colony on the rocks), dolphins (3 times), flying fish (two times), I lost count of how many bird species we stopped for about 4 all up and at one point he even attempted to get us near an Albatross to get a sense of its immense wingspan. -Hostess goes into great detail about the local history, bird species, dolphins, seals, and those iconic red rocks. -The vessel is a bit of a speed boat making it quite fun so hold onto your hat! -Open air small group minimizes risk of Covid IMO. -The captain gets you really close to the Seals <3 -Insulating jacket provided for the backsplash from the waves. You may get a bit of a spray of sea water every now and again but it's all part of the experience. Cons: -While there is a toilet on board it is very small and difficult to get to (so I'm told). -You may want to call and talk to them before you book if you have really young kids or are heavily pregnant. Consider: -Wear sunscreen. -If you suffer from sea sickness consider taking something beforehand and sit towards the back. Conclusion: Avoid the overcrowded tours out of Hobart and pay a bit extra to do this niche tour the experience is unforgettable.

What a breakfast & view! Such friendly lovely service. A great assortment of fantastic cheeses, jams, relishes, yummy fudge, sauces & snacks. The best hot fresh chive savoury scones & delicious fresh butter & relish I’ve ever had. Awesome tea and coffee. The view is incredible, misty mountains & you can smell how fresh the air is surrounded by dairy farms. You can see the dairy cows too! There were tiny calves in the paddock and bigger dairy cows next door, so cute. Cheese tasting and all. Highly recommend this place, even on a rainy day, especially for brekky, those scones are next level! I hear the toasties are also delicious. Thank you for a great experience ❤️ 🐄

We traveled from Melbourne to Hobart and visited the Pyengana Dairy Company. The café has a beautiful view, and we were lucky to have a sunny day. They offer free cheese tastings, and we enjoyed a cheese platter along with some delicious flavored milkshakes. The cheeses were outstanding. We also had breakfast at the café, and it was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Overall, we had a wonderful experience.

Working dairy farm with delicious cheese. Nice cafe with lots of information about the history of their dairy and the cheese-making process. The cafe has a window in the floor to look down and see the wheels of cheese in the maturation stage. Views from the outdoor seating area are beautiful. We watched the cows walk in for their milking, and loved seeing them get a nice scratch. Cheese tasting is help-yourself with four of their cheeses on offer. Good amount of free parking.

Visited this place back in January 2022. Nice cafe with a nice view. We bought the cheese platter and flavoured milk. Cheese tasting available. We had a nice experience with this place.

Free cheese tastings, Devonshire tea with warm, freshly baked scones, and the friendliest staff—what more could you want on a rainy day? My only wish is that they were open more than just weekends! 🙏🏼
Renee F — Google review
Great stop in Pyengana — delicious cheese, generous tastings and a proper farmhouse feel. The toastie was excellent. Friendly team and relaxed atmosphere. The place could use a little refresh here and there, but honestly that’s part of the authentic charm.
Reto J — Google review
Good cheese. Several varieties of their own were available for tasing. I liked the traditional and matured versions.
Ravindran R — Google review
We had lunch here yesterday. Possibly the best meal we have had in a cafe in Tasmania. A simple Bangers and Cheesy Mash with a sprinkling of crumbly parmesan on top. Succulent flavours that didn't overpower each other. Heading there again to have Devonshire tea for brunch. We missed the cheese making unfortunately but on the right day you can watch the process through the windows. A bonus to watch the very contented cows coming in for milking.

Saint Columba Falls State Reserve is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts, offering a magnificent multi-level waterfall cascading down from the skyline. The easy downhill walk through the rainforest leads to a viewing platform where visitors can admire the beautiful sight of the flowing falls. The trek is relatively short and suitable for families, providing high rewards in the form of stunning views.
This is a hidden gem! A beautiful gentle slope down to the most amazing waterfall, the walk up was not too bad and the rainforest which seemed cool on the way in was refreshing on the way back. Parking is along side the road and there are toilets.

Track was closed but able to drive up and see from road.
William A — Google review
The drive is well worth it. Beautiful scenery and cool climate rain forest canopy. The walking trail is pretty easy but uphill on return journey. Only 'issue' was size of the viewing platform but we were there in school holidays.
Robert M — Google review
Beautiful place to see. The walk was short and easy. The paths were gravel but still well kept. Definitely want to go again.
Jayden L — Google review
This place was simply spectacular, even from a distance. The walk is easy to get there as it's mostly downhill (not as easy walking back!). The walk through the rainforest was truly magical but was only a prelude to the main event, the falls themselves. An absolute must do when in the area.
A S — Google review
Absolutely stunning. Beautiful little drive out through narrow soft edge roads. I was told by a local it is always flowing even without any rainfall. In my opinion, it is a must do. Toilet and picnic area with tables. The walk is barely 15min return. I think all fitness levels would make it up and back. Can get a boggy underfoot in sections.
Old D — Google review
Beautiful short trek to in redoble waterfalls. The trek is downhill all the way, so keep that in mind on the return. Easy hike overall with high rewards in the form of the view. My husband and I arrived when the sun was right above the top of the falls, making photos difficult. But it was gorgeous.
Emily P — Google review
There is a little walk from the parking space to the fall, the walk itself is very pleasant and enjoyable. You will be surrounded by ferns, lakes, cute bridges, and the sound of waterfall, its like you are in a forest. There is also some interesting information about the falls and the area at the entrance, spend sometime to read it and you will appreciate it even more.

I had a wonderful experience visiting Little Blue Lake! The water is incredibly blue and crystal clear—absolutely stunning. You’ll be mesmerized and left breathless by the natural beauty of the place. Photos don’t do it justice; it’s definitely worth seeing in person!

Here's an updated review: " Serenity found! 🙏 This spot is a peaceful oasis, far less crowded than you'd expect. Perfect for a quiet moment of reflection or a relaxing break. The ambiance is calming, and the atmosphere is tranquil. Plus, the view is simply amazing! 🌟 Highly recommend for those seeking a serene escape. 🌿✨ 5 stars!

Amazing phenomenon to see, it really is a bright shade of blue. We went just after a lot of heavy rain, and it looked great, is definitely a must see if you're passing by. There are some trails that come off it to get to different view points. The carpark is smallish, so if it's busy it could be a problem to park at.
Mitchell D — Google review
This is my second visit to this lake, and I always feel refreshed whenever I come here. The water is crystal blue, and the place gives off such positive vibes. It’s a bit far from Launceston or Hobart, but it’s definitely worth the trip. The best time to visit is when you’re exploring the Bay of Fires or heading to the Lavender Estate.
Sandesh P — Google review
Gorgeous views and well worth the drive. I'd imagine itd be even more stunning earlier in the day, as by the time we arrived in the late afternoon the sun had begun to set and the colours moved from turquoise to a darker blue hue.

went on weekend it's a small carpark no toliets or camping it was overcast and rain a little but still got beautiful photos of lake if you walk back to the road, out of the viewing platform/carpark, follow the track on the left or right for about 100m, you can get a better view of the lake with no trees blocking view but be careful as dirt track and be slippery if it has been raining
Kylie P — Google review
Beautiful, serene spot with a real history-but you have to google that as it's not signed anywhere! Lovely walk around the lake, seeing the striking environment, which we're assuming was a result of the mining in the area, not sign posted but easy enough to work out where to go.

Biking Trails
The Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails in Derby, Australia are a world-renowned attraction for mountain bikers. The trails cover over 100km of challenging downhill runs through the cool climate rainforest, with crossings over creeks and streams. The trails cater to all abilities and offer bike rentals for those who need them. This popular tourist destination is a must-visit for any avid biker looking for an unforgettable experience on their travels.
A real mix of experiences and levels, a nice easy ride around the lake, or a fast descent from the top of the mountains. Kids were beginners, so we stuck with the easy rides, but they were excellent. Use the shuttles to get to the top and off you go. We will be back and recommend for a family of all ages. Or mates.

The Blue Derby mountain bike park is a must do for anyone; whether an experienced mountain biker or someone simply travelling Tasmania. There is plenty on offer. Heaps of fun!

🚨🚨 just drop whatever you're doing and go there!!! Top of the village trails are incredible, something for all taste and skills level. The longer ones, like Bay of Fire trail incredible. Best trail I have ever done!
Paolo G — Google review
So much to say and do about the Blue Derby. Totally a go to place for mountain bikes in Tasmania. A wide variety of trails means you can always be tested to your limits, or take it cruisey. Plenty for kids to do with a great pump track and easy trail around the lake. Lots of shuttle services on offer all day and then good food to end the day.
Paul S — Google review
The trails are so well constructed and maintained - and true to the rating levels. The mtb stores in town and the shuttle crews are brilliant. My only suggestion would be to encourage each visitor to pull out 10 - 20 foxglove plants each day over the next few years to get on top of what will possibly overwhelm the alpine trigger plant right across the trail network
Michael J — Google review
What a rad place! Trails were fantastic, well maintaied and suitable for a huge range of skill levels. My kids adored the tunnel and pump track. Super cool how all the trails come to a single point. Free bike wash area and very friendly locals and business owners.
Ketter V — Google review
First time riding here was awseome, im lucky enough to have a world class bike park as my local but this is next level. Dirt had unlimited grip when I rode you can just drop your bars and you'll make it round whether intended or not. Pedaled the first day for ~40km saw a giant fish rock how cool. Tomorrow I'll be shuttling top 13 and atlas. Tuesday I'll be shuttling top 13 again as well as atlas and blue tier, for my last day I'll be shuttling up to black Stump as many times as I can all thing going good. Could spend weeks riding here will definitely have to come back when I've saved up some more dough 💰

We had an awesome week with Vertigo MTB. Bikes were amazing, the whole process was very streamline. Vinia and Chris were super knowledgeable, and flexible with rescheduling our shuttles due to a member of our party being crook one day. Thanks again for a great adventure!
Jarrod C — Google review
We’ve just finished 4 days in Derby and the team at Vertigo mtb were bloody amazing. Before we arrived they gave us the run down of how we could get the most out of our trip with suggestions on trails and tours. We got a half day run of shuttles on day 1 with Vinia in Derby and she took into account what we done and then made the next recommendation and each one was spot on. Day 2 we did Blue Tier and Atlas and Chris was awesome and full of laughs. Best day of riding and a must for anyone coming to the area! Day 3 was Bay of Fires, an awesome ride but what sets Vertigo apart is their set up at the end. We pulled up to their private shack and wandered down for a cool off in the water before coming back up to a huge smorgasbord of food cooked on the bbq and an esky cold beverages. Chris again entertained us with more stories. Day 4 we had another shuttle locally and did Kingswood at Vinia’s advice and it was spot on. We appreciate everything the crew did for us and will be singing their praises to anyone we know who heads to Derby and when we head back we will be sure to book through them again. Cheers legends!
Andrew N — Google review
We used the shuttle service from this crew. They were great. Gave us all the right advice about the right trails, and hints and tricks for navigating them. They moved us and our bikes safely and efficiently. Would recommend them any day of the week.

Highly recommend them to anyone and look forward to coming back again.

The Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees in Dorset, Tasmania, stand as a poignant tribute to the local soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War One. Originally planted to honor these brave men, the trees have since perished but were transformed into stunning sculptures depicting 25 soldiers. Each intricately carved statue is accompanied by a plaque that tells the story of its respective soldier, creating an emotional connection for visitors.
Incredible workmanship to create these awesome carvings. An amazing memorial to World War 1 soldiers. Well, it's worth a visit when in the area. Take cash so you can support the small vendor who sells souvenirs and food and proceeds to the upkeep of the area. No tickets needed, free site.

WOW very impressive and worth the short drive into Ledgerwood from the main road. A lovely memorial to those fallen soldiers. The carver has done a brilliant job. Dint forget to visit the little train carriage there too and buy a little souvenir as proceeds go to covering costs of maintaining the carvings.

As everyone says, please come see it in person to appreciate its beauty, craftsmanship, and historical Australian significance. This is a fabulous tribute to our Anzacs and local heroes who died from this town. As a returned Veteran myself, reading the written tributes & plaques of each person gave me goosebumps. Then you look at the faces depicted in the carvings, and it makes it even more real. Fantastic experience 👍🇦🇺❤️

A special place that transports you to a different time! We always seek out historical homes and estates whilst travelling and Clarendon would have to be a clear stand out indeed! Beautifully presented and maintained by the National Trust, our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, I thought it especially cool that they had a upright piano that used to belong to a previous occupant preserved and on display, a cool fact that I would have surely missed if it wasn’t for the knowledgeable volunteer! The place is peaceful and makes for great pictures! Would recommend taking some sandwiches and having a quick bite in the grounds, taking it all in :) we visited during an exhibition on Napoleon and some interesting connections with the estate which I did not expect! Very insightful

The huge effort that the volunteers put into making your visit to Clarendon Estate enjoyable is what really makes your visit. Whether it's the clothing, knowledge, or just the down to earth friendly vibe, I'm not sure, but mix it in with the huge effort put into the beautiful gardens that are surrounding this magnificent old Homested, the out door games, (potato race, horse shoe throwing, crochet) and you have yourself a magnificent experience for all the family.

We truly appreciated that the ladies at Tamar Valley Rose Shop created an absolutely stunning arrangement for my mother's funeral. They really listened to and accommodated all our requests relating to style of arrangement and flower types, and produced exactly what we wanted - Mum would have loved it, just as we did. The single stem tributes were again exactly what we wanted, and just beautiful! They made these aspects of the funeral easy to manage at a difficult time. Thank you :)

Highly recommended the tour. We really enjoyed the fascinating tour of the whole brewing process along with the rich history and pride taken in this amazing facility. Friendly waves from workers as we walked through made us feel welcome. Our tour guide , Jess , was being mentored by Bec and they were both excellent in delivering a positive enjoyable experience. Jess, while new to the tour guide role was completely competent, confident and embraced the task with a smile and good sense of humour and in the tasting session at the completion of the tour she shone with her knowledge and fine sense of taste explaining the intricacies of various Boags beers 🍺 Thank you Jess and Bec , both passionate Boags Ambassadors 😁

140 year old brewery with tap room, as well as tours. $45 per adult for the tour. Their main hospitality area is currently under renovation, but there is still a small bar and merchandise store open. Classic range of beers available as a tasting paddle (4 beers for $20). Take home packs or slabs available for purchase. Only food is chip packets, no hot food available. Staff were very welcoming and very knowledgable on the history of the brewery.

Her knowledge, passion, and sense of humour made the whole experience memorable. Ashley is a real asset to Boag's. The included tasting afterwards was the perfect way to finish. All the beers we tried were great, and we especially loved being able to sample a few that aren’t available anywhere else. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Launceston whether you're a beer lover or just curious, it's well worth it! 🍻

Great experience, guide was so knowledgeable of the history of the brewery and also the city! Great way to get the kids involved with a map to find things around the brewery made it more fun for kids! Definitely a must if you come to Launceston and you enjoy great beer!

The Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk is a fascinating destination that offers a diverse range of exhibits. Visitors can explore Tasmanian history, interactive science displays, and a planetarium. The museum's collection includes historic artifacts such as Martin Cash's revolver and Lady Jane Franklin's workbasket, alongside natural history specimens like the Tasmanian tiger. My son absolutely loved the Queen Victoria Museum! 🦖✨ There were so many interesting things to see, from dinosaurs to the interactive science displays, and he didn’t want to leave. The staff were friendly, and it’s a great place for kids to learn while having fun. Entry is free, making it a perfect family outing in Launceston. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Tasmania with kids!

We had an amazing experience at the Queen Victoria Museum in Inveresk! It’s incredible that such a high-quality museum is totally free to visit. There’s so much to see and do, from fascinating exhibits to hands-on activities that keep both kids and adults entertained for hours. It’s a great place for families to spend the day exploring and learning together. Everything is well presented, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Launceston!

Wow, I absolutely loved this place. It’s so simply understated and that’s exactly what makes it special. While it doesn’t have a huge number of objects, the exhibitions that are there are genuinely interesting. It’s the kind of place you might only visit once or twice, but you’ll remember it. What really stood out to me was how they’ve kept the old warehouses and buildings in such a way that it feels like someone could just walk back in and start using them for their original purpose again. It’s incredible so authentic and thoughtful. The Food Bank gardens run by OzHarvest were unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’m from Brisbane, and honestly, Brisbane could never compete. There’s this quiet brilliance about it all nothing overdone or trying too hard. It just is, and that’s what makes it wonderful. The staff were really friendly. I did struggle a bit to find where to get coffee and food, but that might’ve been on me. I was on holiday and happy to wander around at my own pace. The layout wasn’t but was confusing, I just didn’t put much effort into figuring it out. I was on holidays and peopled out at that point. I’d recommend everyone visit at least once. It might not have the same spark on repeat visits, but it’s absolutely a must-see.

A really great museum will lots of interesting exhibits! Well worth visiting. At the time of my visit, they had an exhibition of David Hamilton's work!

Theres some good stuff, but no real direction or map to guide you.. due to the layout we nearly the main room. Enjoyed the interactive science display outside!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk is a captivating and diverse cultural hub. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th‑century railway workshop, it offers engaging exhibits on Tasmanian history, natural science, and industrial heritage. Highlights include impressive dinosaur fossils, interactive displays at the Phenomena Factory, and immersive planetarium shows. The museum is well-organized, thoughtfully curated, and free entry makes it accessible for all. Friendly staff enhance the experience, making it a must-visit for families, history buffs, and curious minds.

My party was looking for something inside to do on a day with questionable weather. This fit our interest in history and it's free. The museum shows different parts of Tasmania's history. More open plan than any museum I've been in before but it really works. It allow the people to flow through. There are outbuildings that are there for exploring too, including a public display space. Immediately outside the double doors is the childrens area. It's interactive science. It looked like a lot of fun to this adult. Included among the exhibits that I really liked were the taxidermy and the Tasmainian Tiger sections. That small section of the Tassie Tiger is so tragic and emotional. The final one I liked is travel in Tasmania over time shoes and walking canes, bikes, a side saddle. Basically the why and how's transportation is the way it is in Tasmania, it's unlike anything I've seen in a single place. The Planetarium did cost $9 per adult but it was definitely worth it. We chose to see We Are Stars, featuring the voice of the ever talented Andy Serkis. The presenter, a volunteer (as they all are), skillfully showed us through what was going to be in the sky when that night. I highly recommend taking the time to go to the Planetarium on a trip here. Parking is paid and on the grounds of UTAS Launceston. But it's free if you visit on a Sunday. The site is largely wheelchair accessible. There are certain outbuildings that will be harder to access, most importantly the rail workshop.

This is my favorite location in Launceston. I have visited this location a few times, some alone and some with others and loved it all the same. I appreciated the history, the local culture and the effort to maintain the location. Appreciate the team or better yet community who manages the location.

Cataract Gorge Reserve is a stunning public park located right on the edge of the city center. It offers a range of attractions including a chair lift, hiking trails, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Visitors can enjoy the free outdoor swimming pool at First Basin, take a ride on the world's longest single-span chairlift, and explore Victorian-era gardens where peacocks roam. The reserve also features walking tracks, lookouts, and dining options such as a cafe and restaurant.
A natural wonder in the heart of Launceston. Amazing gorges and small waterfalls. Beautifully laid tracks that's both easy and hard. Best seat in the house is in the air - from the Chairlift. The view is simply amazing from the rope way and other best thing is you get to see the Beautiful peacocks and wallaby's at the end of Chairlift. MUST VISIT PLACE!

A must see when visiting Launceston. Beautiful place to visit which you are free to explore the large park, and is of no cost. Follow the many paths, suspension bridge, and board walks along the gorge and enjoy the great views and well kept gardens, river and animals You can swim in the blue pool, or small lake on a good day of course. There is a cafe on site. The chair lift gives you a birds eye view and a fun trip across the valley for $20 return.
Brad S — Google review
This place was absolutely stunning. We took the old school lift to the other side. The view was so peaceful and stunning. You can imagine our excitement seeing a peacock near the other side, only to find there are a dozen more roaming around freely! They are super close but wont allow you to touch them. Wallabies also joined the mix. A few walking paths onsite. Well worth the visit.

Lots of good maps, even better rocks. This place is really good considering its ease of access and proximity to the city. The chairlift was fun, and the bumblebees are friendly. Staff were great and friendly too. #1 pretty rock river that I've seen.

The big highlight of Cataract Gorge, at least for tourists, is the peafowl. I had the pleasure of being there in Spring, mating season, so the boys were on full show. The peahens were treating their prospective mates with a bit of... contempt, it was kind of amusing to me (and just about every other woman I spoke to). This is a truly beautiful a space. It has multiple walking paths for different ability levels, a swimming pool, a suspension bridge and chairlift across the gorge itself. The cafe provides tasty food for a mix of tastes and some souvenirs. There is a bit of something for everyone. There is wheelchair accessibility through the inclinator. There is some accessible parking but I think it would fill up quickly especially in peak periods. Parking is paid.

Cataract Gorge Reserve in Launceston is absolutely stunning! The views are breathtaking, and there’s so much to explore — walking trails, the suspension bridge, and peaceful spots to just sit and enjoy nature. We spent hours taking in the scenery, and it’s the perfect place for a relaxing day out. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Launceston!

Beautiful natural gorge, so close to the centre of Launceston. Busy parking space with paid parking ($2 per hour) A variety of walks/hikes available, from short stroll along the grass to 1km loop around the gorge basin, or a steep hike. There is a short chair lift that takes you to the other side of the gorge (adult prices are $15 one way or $20 return). Nice cafe with beautiful views. There is a pool, or can swim in the gorge.
Georgia D — Google review
Stunning!!!!! Beautiful day spent. Took the chair lift, did a walk and just enjoyed being in nature. Tip:We took the lift from the top to the bottom So we didn’t have to walk up after all the walking around. * pay for it when you enter the reserve.

The National Automobile Museum of Tasmania is a must-visit for car and motorcycle enthusiasts. Located near the North Esk River, this museum showcases an impressive collection of classic cars, including well-preserved Porsches, Bugattis, a 1969 Fiat Spider, and a Ford Mustang from the same year.
Great museum for motoring enthusiasts. Last time I visited was in the late 90’s as a child when living in Tassie. Was great coming back (albeit a different location) as an adult last Wednesday morning when holidaying in Tassie . If I wasn’t with a restless 2 year old, I would have spent much longer looking at each display. Top picks for me were the Tasman Bridge Monaro, black 48-215 Holden and the maroon MKII Jaguar 3.8. Entry price was reasonable for the size of display, everything was well presented and the gift store had plenty to offer, especially for diecast collectors like myself - was happy to head home with an item missing from my collection. Will be keeping an eye out on your website/facebook for future Diecast purchases! Three different staff were present when I visited, all were friendly and helpful. Hopefully my next visit won’t take me 25 odd years to come back to Launceston!

A cool little spot in Launceston for the car lover. Each car has it own story and description associated to it. There is definitely some special and one of a kind cars in the showroom. There is also a gift shop at the front of the museum which has lots of different memorabilia and car based trinkets. Entry is $20 for an adult. Ample parking at the front of the museum.

Cool museum with great ecclectic collection of cars and motorcycles. Judging by the older reviews and pictures, it seems like the inventory displayed is rotating, so that's excellent! Easy parking, friendly staff, great shop too! And when you're done, cross the street and bring the family over to the kids park or a good coffee.

No need for a car licence, drinks provided. Doesn't matter if you have never ridden before, Mel will show you how. Sorry for being so naughty on the track Mel and thanks for being patient! Ps. We spent our 1 yr anniversary here and was worth it.

Barnbougle Lost Farm Golf Resort in Bridport is home to two renowned golf courses, Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm. These world-famous courses are nestled within the towering sand dunes of Bridport, offering a challenging and stunning arrangement that attracts visitors from around the globe. While the service at the pro shops is exceptional, some visitors recommend dining at local pubs instead of the on-site restaurant.
Phenomenal. We ate at Lost Farm numerous times over a long weekend and couldn't fault a thing. The service was excellent and genuinely friendly. All the dishes were delicious and the local wines expertly recommended to accompany them. The view speaks for itself looking out over the ocean and the golf course; people playing the 15th and 18th made for great entertainment. All three courses were so much fun, and the pros very accommodating. The rooms were large and comfortable, shuttle between Dunes and Lost farm was easy and quick. Highly recommend the entire resort.
Rebekah S — Google review
April 23rd, I was visiting from Canada. Decided to try this so called, “lovely, high-class restaurant” that is Lost Farm. I was very disappointed with what I was given, not only in the food, but also the drinks and poor service. To start off, our drinks came late and confused with others. The food had little to no flavour, and personally the portions were relatively small. As well as, glasses and plates were not to the highest quality of cleanliness. While I can understand waiters may want to talk to their coworkers I’d suggest doing it in the staff room, kitchen or after hours. As communication may be strong with eachother on topics of personal matter, it was not a strong suit in work as our meals were mixed up/given to other tables, and another waiter came over after we were finished eating, plates cleared and all, asking if we got our meals yet. Hovering over the customers will only piss someone off more, which I could see from the neighbouring tables. The staff not only looked lost, but in comparison to the setting, they were very untidy in appearance. There was clearly no one competent enough in charge of the waiters and waitresses present. It was one of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant. While Tasmania gave me good memories, this was a very poor/sad/disappointing/slightly disgusted one.
Aisling I — Google review
We just went to the lost farm restaurant. The food was very nice and the service was good. We were literally the only people there when we arrived, but the views are stunning. Food isn’t cheap and the quality of it was about on par or slightly below the price point, but we went for the views and they didn’t disappoint.
Adam H — Google review
Barnbougle is Disneyland for golfers, and Lost Farm is the most fun I've had on a golf course. While the Dunes is the higher ranked course, for a mid handicap golfer Lost Farm was more enjoyable to play. Cannot recommend a pilgrimage strongly enough.
Brad W — Google review
Just a fabulous place to relax and play golf. We were lucky that the weather was perfect for golf. Golf courses were in top condition. Bougle Run is a brilliant short 14 hole course. Not to be taken lightly. Lost Farm is very enjoyable with some great holes. Dunes starts of easy but from the 4th hole onwards it is a marvellous experience and presents a tough test.
Qazi A — Google review
Amazing golf course with fabulous views. A challenging course but definitely one you should play. Well worth the trip.
David O — Google review
Good restaurant, great golf course (much better suited for the high handicapper than the dunes IMO). Friendly older gentlemen in the pro shop.
Roger B — Google review
Ultimately I came here to golf and I was deeply satisfied. The courses are super cool with challenging routing and my caddie at Dunes was a gem. The sheer amount of flies on the course were awful, I couldn't hit a single shot without at least a dozen swarming me. I also really liked my room, it's spacious and has a beautiful view of the ocean. The bed and couch were very comfortable. Free laundry machines were a welcome surprise as well. Food was mixed overall. My dinners were wonderful (the chocolate tart was to die for) but the breakfast is very basic for the price you pay. The pizza at the sports bar is absolutely terrible with a flagrantly small amount of sauce and cheese. Service at both restaurants were excellent as well.

An amazing links golf course and golf destination. Beautiful location and in great condition. The haven several options for accommodation. Beautiful ocean two bedrooms villas, cottages or the lodge at Lost Farm. The Dunes was by far a much better golf course than Lost Farm. The greens on the later was really bad. The restaurant at Lost Farm was much nicer in all aspects than the Dunes.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in one of the 4 bedroom 4 ensuite Bunker villas overlooking Barnbougle Dunes course and clubhouse. It’s very vompfortable with almost everything you need. There was no internet and no TV apps but once the wind dropped this view always all we needed. My highlight was Sammy the sea lion in the warm carpark for 2 days.

I’d describe it like your first love.. loath her and yet still wanting to see her again. Great course, even in 60km winds (not so good of a score). Staff at bar and proshop are fantastic. Can’t wait to come back.

Played Brand bougle blues and lost balls 17/18/11/2025. Blues better than balls. Very windy on blues. Even worse on balls. Groundstaff watering bunkers as well as strategly placed automatic sprinklers. I found the wind unbearable on balls. Wind blowing the buggy over on almost every hole. Golf was totally un enjoyeable. All for the princely sum of $179 or $9.9999 dollars per hole. Hat's off to the farmer for setting up Brand bougle though 20 years ago. Grand villas cottages lodges and even a private airstrip. Wow. But I came for the golf and yeah nah. It's a nah for me Had more fun at tam o Shanter golf club for $20 all day just 30 minutes down the road. That one doesn't have a private driveway though. It's run by volunteers. I have given an extra star for the staff at Brand Dougle. 1 star for the golf .
