The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden, established in 1996, spans 250 hectares and is situated just 2 kilometers north of Port Augusta on the Stuart Highway. This expansive garden offers breathtaking views of the Flinders Ranges and showcases a diverse array of flora native to the Australian desert. Visitors can explore three walking trails that highlight vegetation from the Great Victoria Desert, Flinders Ranges, Gawler Ranges, and Eyre Peninsula's West Coast.
Absolutely Fabulous. Loved the myriad of walking trails, clearly signposted and easy to follow. Wonderful to walk through so many variations in landscape. The cafe was great, although the wait for food a little long, and my coffee was not terribly warm. The nature inspired ice creams are a must to try though.

Australian Arid Lands Botanical Gardens Open 7.30am to sundown daily. Lovely walking tracks, beautiful variety of plants, even ideas on how to plant out your small yards at home. Beware the toilet is inside the Cafe building which opens at 10am on weekends so we witnessed several people digging a hole. Maybe an outhouse is required! The arid Gardens were great we saw a large variety of birds, especially at the bird guide as it had a pond, we watched over a dozen variety of birds and several shingle back lizards enjoying a drink and several wrens having a bath. A great morning we had. The variety of flora and fauna was great to see. Huge car park. When entering the inner garden stop and place a donation in the box

The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden is a fantastic place to explore the unique beauty of Australia’s dry landscapes. The walking trails are peaceful and well-marked, with incredible views and a wide variety of native plants. The café and gift shop are also lovely touches. A must-visit stop if you’re passing through Port Augusta!

Amazing iced chai and scones. Local tasting plate and ice cream Beautiful views and lots of info on surrounding areas. Good place to stop and plan your forward journey. Lovely staff

Great little local garden to rest and recharge. I visited in July, some rare plants and local trees began to blossom. there is a nice Cafe and a gift shop, which I bought a few items to support the garden. oh, a cute little donation box do not forget to leave a few gold coin in it. I also enjoyed playing the time machine, can you tell from the photos (also the instruction photo) what time I visited the garden?
Zentopia H — Google review
Great place to have a stroll through the gardens.
Frank H — Google review
It's a beautifully layed out arid botanical garden, however dogs are only allowed in picnic areas which aren't worth visiting if you have a dog. This severly limited our experience here and they should look at opening up more spaces for leashed dogs to explore, otherwise there's a whole demographic of travellers you're missing out on.
Taylor K — Google review
An amazing array of plants from our arid areas. Who knew there were so many beautiful lush plants and stunning flowers growing out there in such harsh climate. I did the self tour on Sunday in the rain and loved it so much I came back for the guided tour with Shirley on Monday morning. Thoroughly enjoyed it, well worth the visit and definitely jump on the 10am tour.

Lookouts
Water Tower Lookout is a historic iron water tower located just west of Port Augusta. Built in 1882, it now offers panoramic views of Spencer Gulf, salt pans, and the Flinders Ranges. Visitors can climb four flights of stairs to reach the lookout point for a 360-degree view of the city and its surroundings. The area also features attractions like the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden and the Military Memorabilia Museum.
This place is worth visiting in Port Augusta. It's not too from the city. It was closed on late Saturday when we visited this site, but it was still enjoyable looking around the place. Just a little walk down the same road brings you to a bend, which provides some beautiful picturesque views of Port Augusta horizon.
Malay A — Google review
Its a water tower designed to increase the water pressure in surrounding houses. Makes for a good lookout. Good views if your half fit. I guess sunrise or sunset would be a good time for photos. 40 steps to the first landing, then another 30 to the top.
Phil L — Google review
🌇 Unique Lookout with Panoramic Views This quirky lookout offers a fun twist—it’s perched atop a tall water tower, adding a bit of adventure to the climb. Once at the top, you’re rewarded with sweeping views of the city stretched out in the distance. It’s an unexpected vantage point that delivers on both scenery and experience. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Meth H — Google review
Altough it looks scary and steepy. But actually there are some steady railings. The structure of the water tower is fantastic. Design of the steel structure brings everyone a chance to see the different aspects of views.
LucyLiao — Google review
Glad they decided to repurpose the old water tower. Great views of the surrounds.

Great spot... Clever utilisation of an ancient water tower, to see all around Pt Augusta. Free Entry
William B — Google review
Ah, the ol’ water tower! History abound, impeccable grounds, a staircase that hasn’t changed since it was built - but that VIEW!! TOTALLY worth the steps to get there, three levels of leg straining and stopping for a quick breath, but when you get to the top it will take your breath away!! After that you’ll appreciate the view x
Victoria S — Google review
Short drive and climbed tower to see Port Augusta and surrounds. Steep climb narrow steps so go slowly if your a bit older 🙏 but I'm not good with heights. So beautiful to look over the area and the hills in distance in the direction to Ceduna.

Fantastic experience! Its so interactive. My fault for coming by the end of the day and not having the time to watch every little clips and short movies. Definitely a place to visit if you are in town. You will learn so much!it worth the $25

Fantastic! A spectacular walk, great gift shop and bonza tucker too. Absolute 'must do' for when in town. No entry Fees.

A great place to visit with the family if you’re in town. Worth the money. Heaps of history and storytelling that could put your minds into wonder. Highly recommend.

Entrance fee is $27 per Adult. A little steep in my opinion but you do get free re-entry for 12 months (non-transferable). Its a good showcase of Aboriginal history and culture, wildlife, European exploration and hardship and linking the country by rail and Telegraph.

Wow! A total surprise that we did on spec. An excellent exhibition covering many areas. It truly would take two days to totally investigate, and the food / coffee is also excellent.

Lots of interactive displays. Great videos but last one was a bit long. Great displays aside the ones that were all dark as they were having lighting issues. Would certainly recommend a visit 👍 did think it a little expensive at over $50 for two people one a concession too!

Pichi Richi Railway

Tours
Heritage preservation
Train journeys in restored timber cars pulled by steam engines through rocky mountain passes.
Had a fantastic time on the railways. Steam loco! A great experience and excellent value for money. The guide in our csrrsige was informative and knowledgeable. We stopped at Woolshed Flat where you can buy morning tea. Hot and cold drinks, scones, pasties etc. The whole trip felt authentic - like a step back in time. The volunteers do an amazing job.
Rainer W — Google review
What a great train ride out to woodshed flats and back again. This is run by volunteers who do a marvellous job. Had morning tea at woodshed while they moved the engine to the front of train for trip back to Quorn.
Maureen D — Google review
Terrific volunteer run heritage railway. Running from Quorn near the Flinders ranges to Pr Augusta. A shorter trip is available to Woolshed Creek. Wonderful views and lovely restored carriages.
Simon F — Google review
A great morning spent on the Pichi Richi Explorer to Woolshed Flat and return. Picturesque scenery, friendly and informative volunteers, especially Mike, who was in our carriage. It's wonderful that our heritage is being preserved. Thanks again for a memorable outing with our grandchildren.
Bilfer G — Google review
Sunset Run to Woolshed Flats was good. Fantastic volunteers both on the train and at Woolshed Flats ( doing the catering). Great steak sandwich for $11.00. Congratulations to all volunteers, not only for the tours but the whole program of restoring and maintaining the lines and the rolling stock. Great job!
Stephen S — Google review
Great experience for the family. Just a little bit pricey for a family ticket for a 35 min ride one way, then an hour lunch break, then 35 minute ride back. Scones and a coffee was kind of advertised as free at halfway point but was another cost. Is run by all volunteers so I take my hat off to all the members that run it and I hope it runs for a long time. It is a piece of great Australian history
Brett H — Google review
Ride into history aboard part of the old Ghan railway; the kids will love the steam and rattle. Shake hands with the friendly volunteers who keep this remarkable train running.
Roland G — Google review
Great experience, we were lucky enough to have the steam locomotive. The scenery is fantastic. Volunteer staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We got off at Quorn and had 2hrs to wonder around the town. Again lucky because the Quandong festival was on which was fantastic. I would highly recommend this trip

Wallaby Tracks Adventure Tours

Sightseeing tour agency
Tours
Sightseeing Tours
We did a 4 hour tour of Wilpena Pound's ranges and gorges with Astrid of Wallaby Tracks Adventure Tours. We genuinely felt we were travelling with a friend in the air conditioned comfort of Astrid's Land Cruiser as she took us off the beaten track through the National Park showing us ancient geological features, wild life including kangaroos, rock wallabies, families of emus, wedge-tailed eagles, rainbow bee eaters and more plus glorious views from look-outs. Astrid's commentary reflected her deep knowledge of the Flinders Ranges. We were cool as cucumbers in car during the 34C summer heat and had the chance to stretch our legs at various rock formations and lookouts. This tour is highly recommended, don't give it a second thought before you book!!
Bec — Google review
We enjoyed our tour of the Flinders Ranges with Astrid. We were picked up and dropped off in front of our safari tent at Wilpena Pound Resort. We travelled through the gorges, past Parachilna, had lunch in Blinman and saw some excellent lookouts. Astrid's informative and relaxed commentary helped to make this a tour well worth doing.
P B — Google review
My wife and I went on a four day tour with Wallaby Tracks last week, and the entire experience was top notch! From the initial inquiries to booking and answering whatever questions we had (this was the first time I had taken such a tour) leading up to the tour, everything was seamless. Paul was our tour guide and far exceeded any expectations I had. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the entire region, took the time to show us everything and anything we came across in Flinders Ranges - seeing kangaroos, rock wallabys, emus, all sorts of birds, a 4x4 tour as well as a flight over Flinders Ranges. To further personalize the experience, he took the time to show us some more detailed family history from the region that they researched before we arrived (a relative lived here about 150 years ago). If you are looking for a personalized and easy trip into the Outback, Wallaby Tracks is the way to go!
Jeff F — Google review
Our 4-day tour with Paul (co-owner, with his wife Astrid, of Wallaby Tracks) was one of the best we've experienced in a long career of global travel. Paul was knowledgeable, thoughtful and engaging. The tour was well-curated, taking account of the preferences we'd expressed.
John G — Google review
What a fantastic trip of a lifetime enjoyed by my friend and I. Paul took us on a 5 day / 4 night adventure from Adelaide, Coober Pedy, Lake Eyre and the Flinders Ranges. Paul is an excellent driver, knows heaps about the areas we explored and you felt completely safe and looked after. We saw amazing vistas and met some wonderful characters along the way. I think we experienced more on this trip than you might on others because Paul knew so much and because he knew all the locals. Would highly recommend this trip to others and would like to do more trips with Paul and Astrid.
Nicole D — Google review
Our 6 hour tour with Astrid was a wonderful experience. Astrid has extensive knowledge of the geology, wildlife and history of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges and the surrounding regions. It was truly fascinating. A highlight for me was seeing the Yellow footed rock wallaby.
Claire C — Google review
An amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience! Astrid and Paul made us feel 'at home' from the outset. The unseasonal rain in Coober Pedy and the Flinders Ranges meant that we saw these areas in a unique way. The rain also meant that Astrid and Paul had their hands full navigating a safe passage on desert and mountain roads unaccustomed to wet weather! They arranged this effortlessly and keep us safe and on track regardless! All aspects of our trip (timing, accommodation, food, sightseeing) and all of our unique requests were met generously. Truly memorable. Thank you so much.
Christopher M — Google review
We thougherly recommended this company for a wonderful Flinders Ranges tour. Picked up from our accommodation at Rawnsley Park Station by Paul in a comfortable Land cruiser. Morning tea and lunch was supplied. Spectacular landscape, spotted the Yellow footed rock wallaby close by which came out to greet us. Emus and the Red caped robin. Paul was very knowledgeable on all aspects of the Flinders. Thanks so much.

Whyalla Maritime Museum

Museum
Maritime museum
Military Museums
I recently took the kids and my wife to see the maritime museum. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, with plenty of things to look at for everyone. You have guided tours of the HMAS Whyalla, a Corvette Class minesweeper that you can wander through, and get all the history from the guides. We had Liz, and she was great, with adults and kids alike. They were trialling a kids treasure hunt when we went, so my 2 boys, both 9 years old, got to find different symbols scattered along the tour and into the museum area itself. Once in the museum building, you are treated to various rooms with different displays, including scale models of the ships that were built in Whyalla. An aboriginal cultural room with local indigenous artifacts. A second World War area, showing some of the uniforms that they wore, plus information about the crews that manned the minesweepers built in Whyalla. Finally, you are treated to a railway model setting that shows the journey from the mines in the Middleback Ranges, right through to the Whyalla Steelworks area. Well worth a visit.
Mark M — Google review
There were 5 of us - two children and four adults and we all loved it. We had missed the tour of the Whyalla but Madeleine (Maddy) offered us a tour as we weren’t going to be there the next day. The tour was well worth doing, the Museum terrific and the grounds very well set out. We would highly recommend and thank you Maddy!
Sigy M — Google review
Nice place to visit in Whyalla. It’s about armed ship 🚢 used in military purposes. Nice history explaining by guide in the museum. Charging around $35 per head. Inside was informative and curious. Nice experience 😍
Sampath A — Google review
When i visited 21 August i checked the website first as the tours are only certain times. I booked the day before on the site but at the time of visit the ship was closed for maintanence, the website does let you know. You can do a virtual tour, so for any place best to check ahead to make sure of times etc. I have visited before here. But it's always nice for a look. The staff are very friendly. Very informative and helpful. And a good selection of souvenirs. I do love the museum here to as you can find really interesting stuff here about the ship and of other things. You'll need to come here to find out more.
Robert S — Google review
The tour of the ship was a standout of our trip to Whyalla. We booked a tour on a whim when our cuttlefish snorkel was pushed back a day and our guide Madelyn really brought the ship and its history to life. Amazing to think of the sailors living conditions in the cramped quarters and the wonderful work that the ship did locating and detonating mines during the war.
Sara B — Google review
Great place for a visit the museum is cool and the trains are great. The best thing is the boat tour really great info and a good idea of what sea life was like.
Daniel T — Google review
Rod was a great guide for the ship tour, he was passionate about the ship and the connection it had with Whyalla. It was good to see how life was on board the WW2 vessel. The tours run at 11:30 am and 01:30pm from the info centre and run for 45- 60 minutes, you may need to book ahead as there was only 10 spots available with people waiting. You can visit the maritime museum afterwards with well maintained grounds.
Thomas T — Google review
If you have the chance to go on the tour of the ship Whyalla I recommend it. Tour guide was very informative. Loved the experience of walking through this ship and learning a piece of our history.

The gardens are well maintained, toilets are clean and well lit at night, not sure if they're open at night. Double BBQ works, and is used regularly. Very pretty place with a big bird enclosure through the rear. Lots of shade.

A lovely, well kept garden for a walk. The bird Avery had some very friendly parrots that like a scratch and a chat.
Caren R — Google review
This is a huge green space between the car parking area and the beach. There are lots of seating options there are toilets and a play area for the kids.
Emmy S — Google review
Very nice and relaxing park to walk though, also has many diffirent activities you can do and of course a notable feature is the bird aviaries, which add a unique and charming touch, perfect for younger visitors.
Kodasma — Google review
These gardens are a credit to Whyalla, and a wonderful place to spend some time. They even have some large aviarys with Cockatiels, Parrots, Galahs and Cockatoos. I'd get rid of the pine trees and replace them with Australian natives though. Go and check it out, you'll love it.🕊
David W — Google review
Magnificent trees in a well set out garden area. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the gardens admiring the flowers and trees and then we came across the big bird Avery in the middle of the gardens. It was so nice checking out the different birds- some we heard speak! Lots of shade if weather is hot. Situated next to children’s playground and right near the beach. We made a day of it.
Liisa B — Google review
We stopped here after leaving Pt Broughton heading to Port Lincoln. It was a lovely spot but unfortunately the cafe was closed. We enjoyed the walk and the water was warm. A nice place to stretch before the next leg of our journey.

Stunning view of the natural beauty of Whyalla & environs, starkly contrasting with the industrial detritus of a former glory. I was particularly struck by the scale of Spencer Gulf, which looks like a triangular sliver of water on a map, but is actually the vast ocean!
Den O — Google review
Overlooking the Spencer Gulf and City of Whyalla, Hummock Hill was the site of the first European settlement at the turn of the twentieth century. During World War Two it serviced as a gun battery and observation post, development of the lookout utilised the old gun emplacements that can still be seen today. It is an important Aboriginal site. A one-way sealed road takes vehicles to the top of the hill. Hummock Hill is also a part of the City Walk Centenary Trail. City Walk Centenary Trail includes Hummock Hill lookout and all interpretive signs along the way.
Pratik C — Google review
Again, a terrific spot to take in the views, particularly at night when the circular Jetty can be seen in all its glory. Casual drive to the top, with plenty of parking when we were there. Some of it is needing a bit of TLC when the local shire can allocate funds, but well worth the visit. Wheelchair access not an issue, but there are a couple of steps here and there, so some assistance may perhaps be needed.
Crian M — Google review
Magnificent views of the steel mill and the unique jetty from this point. There are also signs erected that explain the steel mill as well as other things of historical significance. Well worth the visit.
Gregory H — Google review
Great views of the town and harbour side. Pretty steep hill up but still managed to tow the caravan up. There's not a huge amount of parking up the top, so be aware of this. I like the fact that it's a one-way road and there is a separate lane for pedestrians, who seem to make good use of it.

Absolutely love our marina and our beautiful dolphins that come into the marina. If you're lucky enough to visit our awesome town, do yourself a favour and book a tour with Spencer Gulf Adventures in the glass bottom boat. You will not regret it, and the best part they are so affordable

Mt Remarkable Summit Trail

Nature & Parks
Hiking Trails
14km combined north and south trail which encircles the mountain. 6.5km north trail and 7.5km south trail. Lots of rock falls/rock slides. Wear hiking boots that lock in your ankle, this is a real ankle twister and is going to be hard on your feet. The north trail is on a steeper section with more unobstructed views. The south trail spends more time twisting through the flat top area of the mountain, but still also has some unobstructed views. Views from the summit are obstructed by trees, but views along both trails make it worthwhile. I was lucky enough to see a monitor on the south trail that jetted up a tree when I passed.
Michael P — Google review
Strenuous walk with awesome views. Carpeted with native wildflowers in Spring!
Steven C — Google review
lots of sharp rocks, did it in Vivos and my feet are little sore but not that bad. Love the reminders of where you're up to every 500m shown on metal poll. I tapped each one with my water bottle thinking "I've only got X amount to go! :D" took just under 4 hours but I started at the hotel.

Awesome view’s, a gem in South Australia for mountain biking!! A must visit!!

Very enjoyable walk with only gradual inclines. Magnificent views on the way up but due to trees poor view from the top. Drive up to the WW1 monument to start your journey.
P J — Google review
A most satisfying walk! Great to have the Heysen Trail to walk on when the other half is on the bike trails. Something for both of us. Useful platforms up top on which to lounge and make tea. Views are on the way, not on arrival. Walked it several times from the showground and deservingly back via the pub.

Nice track totalling about 12km, or 13 by the loop. View from the summit is non-existent, but a stunning view all the way up the North track. Not for the unfit, but achievable for the average person.

Gorgeous and well maintained stone buildings, police station and courthouse, stables, cells, with extensive displays inside and out. Melrose is such a great place. Find out about the Goyder Line, challenges of agricultural establishment and the lives of the Nukunu Aboriginal people who were here before.

Excellent country town museum. Original stone courthouse and police buildings around a large yard, with a newer (20yo) building housing terrific historic displays. Lots of original items and stories of the struggles to survive the early days, through to recent years. Old machinery, lockup cells, and magnificent huge gum trees shading it all. Well worth an hour of your time - then check out the great cafe/bike shop over the road. Two good pubs too.

Over The Edge in Melrose is an absolute gem! Rich and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to help and super informative about the trails. They gave me some fantastic recommendations for both mountain biking and hiking during my stay. The cafe is equally wonderful- so welcoming, with delicious food that just adds to the great experience! Can’t wait to go back when it’s cooler, as the warmth and the pesky flies made it a bit challenging this time. 10 of 10 for Over The Edge’s service, friendliness, and the amazing riding conditions in Melrose!!

Worth the 360km round trip for this cafe alone. One of the best coffee’s I’ve ever had - thank YOU! Rustic and cosy, did not want to leave. Loved the subtle yet tasteful Flinders Ranges decor and unique, local produce. Melrose, the town its self, and Over The Edge is such a hidden gem!

We stayed 2 nights in Melrose for some hiking and visited here for breakfast both mornings. The food is next level fantastic!! I wish we could’ve stayed longer as I’d like to try everything on the menu. Possibly the best brekky I’ve ever had. Great service too and ambience.

Well tickle me pink, if this isn’t the best thing since Super Elliots cycles in Adelaide, a fully sick bike shop and a cafe/coffee shop/ bike repair shop, offering around 100km of trails mostly single track and various skill levels for people of all walks of life and daredevilnes, Also with tours with bikes to hire that are more than just a cheap Kmart ride, this place is absolutely fantastic. As for the cafe side of things great stuff, great people and great prices

While on a road trip with my boyfriend, we stopped at this café to grab a coffee and a meal. Great place, good music, very friendly staff, and the food and coffee were delicious. I highly recommend stopping here!

Popped in to the Cafe at Over the Edge Sports today for a quick lunch on our way back to Adelaide after visiting Parachilna for the night. Pleasantly surprised by this cafe and associated bike sales / hire / service shop... A unique combination and a very popular one at that..! Staff were friendly and attentive, the decor was clean and comfortable, my toasted ham and cheese and tomato relish sandwich was fresh and tasty and our coffees - extra hot almond cappuccino and iced almond cappuccino - were on point. I took a quick look in the adjacent bike shop and there's everything there that a keen cyclist - especially mountain bikers - needs from sales to servicing... Good work Over the Edge Sports!! See you again on our next trip!!

The best coffee, lovely and tasty. Friendly staff. Hubs had a large caramel slice which he finished off with a big smile! I had a bliss ball!! Fire roaring. Nice place to hang out for a while. Food being served looked lovely, but we just wanted a coffee stop. Perfect. 10/10.

The amazing staff made this place. Vicki gave us great insights into the history of the area including products being shipped through the port and the relevant train track gauges etc. She even gave us a mission to find the other 4 steam engines identical to the "Port Pirie". Fred shared some fascinating anecdotes & stories from his 40 years working on the railway. Well worth a visit. Thanks guys!

Beautiful building but can't rate the inside of the museum since it's under renovation. We can still view the train head in front of the building. Plenty of carpark space in front of building.

This small museum in Port Pirie is a fantastic stop. The shark exhibits are fascinating, and the maritime history adds depth. With interactive displays and friendly staff, it's a fun and educational visit for all ages. Highly recommended!

Wasn't impressed at all...the shark thingy was a few headphones that we could see in a narrow short space, yet had to pay for it...maybe I might ssef something..🤔 after all it was 43 deg outside, had a great lunch at (some number place) loved the one way bridge that lets you get to actually see the harbour (from.the opposite side.).

Was greeted at the door by a warm and friendly gentleman who gave me an insightful run down on the exhibition before leaving me to admire the surreal display at my own pace. An absolute awesome display, given the area they have it certainly rivals the Australian war memorial in Canberra. A real tribute to our service people and a true asset to the community and Australians alike. Thanks to all concerned. Good for a cold beer a feed and yarn too.

A little eerie, it really does look as if you are rolling uphill. The way there is dirt roads and slow going. You want the sign to be on your right when you turn off the car.

What a great, random attraction. A 5 minute drive from the main highway on an unsealed road brings you to this cool little stop. Just a fun random attraction that works one way or another!

Enjoy for 1 minute but drive for 7 hours back and forth (from Adelaide CBD). It was fun but not worth it in my opinion. It could be enjoyable for kids but again, decide if the drive is worth it. Last few kms are definitely on dirt road. But I was able to access it with ease on Mazda CX 5. It was a dry day so easy to access.

Gladstone Gaol

A great gaol to visit. Not only was it built way back but it only closed down in the 1970s. 3 big cell block wings and a smaller one out back. This gaol gives you a glimpse in life behind bars through a 100 odd years. Love the artifacts found on site along with period clothing. Well worth the look. Make sure you have more then an hour to spend here as it is worth it. Why not take the stairs up the tower to get a birds eye view of the whole jail. And if you want to stay here why not arrange accommodation with the jail and spend a night or 2. Bring a jacket as it is quite cool inside.
Robert S — Google review
This place is amazing my children loved going there and staying over night facilities are good the showers although separate from the goal are better than those at home hot and powerful. This needs to be opened again the story of no caretakers isn't true there was willing volunteers but others bitter about not being selected for the role saying things that resulted in the current caretakers being asked to leave. More hassle than the council was willing to deal with unfortunately.
Dmac T — Google review
Stayed a night there... nice clean place... $40pp for touring and staying in the cell. Stayed there with group of friends abd eaxh if us got our own cell to lick in ourselves.. There is full kitchen facility including bbq microwave and fridge. There is a shop also inside where they sell clothes and toys.. Toilets are clean. At night time the place gets very spooky which is good! Our tour guide was really friendly abd we get to know the history behind the gladstone gaol, which was pretty full on Overall we had a great experience and keen to visit there again

Gladstone Goal closed to the public 2022 for repairs when the caretakers handed in the keys. For a heritage listed tourist attraction it is a disgrace that the goal has not been reopened. The goal has tremendous potential but the government owner does not appear interested.

We got married at Bungaree on Saturday and could not have asked for a better location or a better day! It is such a beautiful venue and Vicki, Mark and the staff made it so perfect with their communication, professionalism, friendly nature and wanting to help wherever they could. The option to stay on site is perfect, with beautiful buildings that have been restored and breakfast for the next morning. If you need a venue for a wedding, an event or a weekend away, Bungaree is honestly the perfect place to go Thank you so much for making our wedding so perfect xx

Bungaree Station, oh, where do I begin? As a wedding photographer, I've had the joy of clicking my shutter in many places, but Bungaree Station is like that favourite coffee mug - familiar, comforting, and always bringing a smile to my face. Every time I step foot on this historic property, I'm greeted by the rustic charm of the old station buildings, the whispering wheat fields, and the welcoming woolly residents (the sheep, of course!). It's like stepping into a living, breathing storybook, where every corner has a tale to tell. The Church, with its quaint charm and serene atmosphere, has witnessed many heartfelt 'I dos' through my lens. The Woolshed, with its rugged character, has been the backdrop for countless lively receptions. These structures, steeped in history, add a unique charm to every photo I take. But it's not just the place, it's the people too. The team at Bungaree Station is like the friend who always has your back. Their warm hospitality and dedication to making each wedding special are truly remarkable. As the sun sets, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, and the station lights up with laughter and music, I often find myself pausing, camera in hand, soaking in the magic of Bungaree Station. It's not just another wedding venue; it's a place that feels like home, a place that's a part of my own story. Bungaree Station, with its charm, history, and warmth, is a delight to work at and definitely deserves a five-star salute!

During my recent travels, I had the pleasure of discovering Jim Barry Wines in Adelaide, a gem that truly stands out. After enjoying their exquisite The McRae Wood Shiraz at a restaurant during my New Zealand trip, I knew I had to visit their cellar door. Although it’s on the smaller side, the tasting experience was nothing short of delightful. George welcomed us with open arms and shared his extensive knowledge about wine pairings that enhanced our tasting journey.
Enjoyed a chilly, leisurely Saturday afternoon at the cellar doo with George who was friendly, informative & generous with his knowledge & tastings :-) The Assyrtiko is unique, but the Clare Valley Cabernet Malbec & Armagh Shiraz were definitely worth tasting. Hand cream in the bathroom was a nice side bonus & don’t forget to smell the roses (literally). Thanks George

We were at Jim Barry Winery on May 13 and had a fantastic time! George and Sue were such warm hosts. Sue, the cellar manager, shared the winery’s history and Clare Valley’s unique geography. George’s wine knowledge was impressive, explaining each wine clearly, especially the amazing Armagh and Florita ,we all loved them! Lunch with fresh local food was super delicious and paired perfectly with the wines. Everyone enjoyed so much! Highly recommend this lovely winery for a fun, tasty experience!

We just had a tasting at Jim Barry winery and were looked after by George. George went above and beyond for us - educating us about the wines, prompt service, and friendly nature. I highly recommend spending some time here. I am the biggest fan of JB so when I accidentally stumbled across their Cellar Door boy I was was chuffed with myself. The man behind the bar was super nice and helpful. The tours weren't on during my time here but I'll definitely be coming back. I was able to buy a few wines from here and do some taste testing. Highly recommend

A very memorable tasting experience. George (the cellar door manager) went above beyond to showcase the best this legendary, high quality winery, has to offer. His description of the wines really brought them alive. It is a joy to spend time with someone so knowledgable and enthusiastic about their product. Thanks George, and thank, you to the team behind Jim Barry Wines. Quality is it's own reward.

This wonderful B&B was highly recommended by friends in the B&B industry and it didn’t disappoint. The building is beautifully restored and the B&B (5 rooms) are all wonderful and generous in size with beautiful furnishings. The Queen size bed was as comfortable as being home. Siting by the log-fire at night was wonderful while reading (didn’t switch the TV on once). We checked in on the actual day of the 150th birthday of the building (by chance) and met several of the wonderful volunteers who were there celebrating the 150th with drinks & nibbles. We highly recommend this superb B&B to any couple.

Such a lovely place to visit and learn about, we picked a windy to go, so we ended up driving around, rather than walk as we'd planned. It didn't take away from the experience had. The interactive models allows you to look back and imagine how it was. Its an impressive site.

If you go to Burra but don't visit the mine at least once, then it's like not visiting at all. You can access the area free to some point, but to see the rest you need to pick-up the key and pay entry. That also allows you to drive your car a fair way up too without walking.

Wow! So much history! Was the biggest inland town all because of the huge copper mine. It really is massive and you can visualise how busy it must of been back in the day. The town also reflects the beautiful architecture of that period. A great place and a must see!

Sue & Molly, the cutie JRT in the Information Centre, were most welcoming, very informative & a real asset to Burra's tourism industry. Thanks, we'll be back soon for another Adventure!

Just stayed in Burra for 2 nights and decided to do the Self guided heritage passport tour , Went to the information centre to pay for key ,which was $30 for one adult ,so $60 for us ,also have to pay a $50 deposit for the key, which you get back once handing it back into information centre, The lady at the information centre (Sue) was so friendly & helpful ,made us feel very welcome to the town, The tour itself was so good ,we really enjoyed it ,learnt so much about the history of the town , would highly recommend this tour , our highlight was the unicorn brewery , also sue told us about the st marys church as well, we were in awe with the stained glass windows there ,just magical ... Thank you Burra ,cant wait to return for another getaway

The staff are helpful and definitely knowledgeable to the history which is a bonus. Paid the fee, deposit and receive the keys to unlock the town history sites. Adults $30 school aged children free. It definitely is worth it. Allow yourself 4 hours to complete all tour sites.

A great winery to visit with so much history attached to it. The tasting was excellent. Thank you Julian for your hospitality and welcoming nature. Your assistance and hosting made our visit enjoyable. We signed up to the wine club and are looking forward to our first order arriving home in Ipswich to remind us of the experience and location. The church and crypt was fascinating to see and walk through. 🍇 🍷 ⛪️

What a great winery! So much history. Enjoyed the wine tasting. Loved the Pinot Gris - will be ordering some for delivery when I get settled back home.

A special place. We took the self guided walking tour and we were humbled by the simplicity and peace of it. We are over wineries, but this so much mare than a winery. 12/10 for the two young ladies who helped us at the tasting counter.

Our customers always speak highly of their experience at Sevenhill Cellars in the Clare Valley. As the oldest winery in the region, it offers a unique blend of history, architecture, and outstanding wines. Guests especially appreciate the beautiful grounds, the peaceful setting, and the connection to South Australia’s Jesuit heritage. At Affordable Chauffeur Services, we often include Sevenhill Cellars in our Clare Valley wine tour itineraries, and it's always a highlight. Whether our clients are serious wine lovers or first-time visitors, they enjoy both the tastings and the rich cultural experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a blend of heritage and premium wines in the Clare Valley.

The venue was amazing some great history. The staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable about their wines. Worth a visit for the wines and the history of how the vineyard was established

The Seven Hills winery is steeped in tradition, established by the jesuits way back in 1851 and, true to their faith, continuing to this day, making premium wines and topaques. The staff were very friendly and gave me much needed water on my arrival by bicycle after following the famous Clare valley Riesling trail. I was lucky to try a bottle of the Saint Ignatius, an exceptionally smooth and complex blend of Cab sav, Merlot, Malbec and Cab franc. Being on a bicycle I could only leave with one bottle but I savoured every drop!

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Sevenhill Cellars located in Clare Valley this weekend and our experience with Annika and Matt was great. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality that made us feel like old friends rather than guests. They have a natural gift for creating a comfortable and engaging atmosphere. This was my first wine tasting experience in South Australia. We were able to taste a total of ten wines from the inigo [$10]and premium [$30] range along with a platter. We could share our wines within the group, which is great! Apart from the cellar, sevenhills has plenty to offer in terms of space for outdoor wine tasting, family picnics, bicycle trails, the old Jesuit church with its basement crypt. Thank you, Annika and Matt, for such a beautiful experience. We will see you again!

This is a non profit winery runner by professionals but owned by the Jesuits. It is just a short ride from the bike trail so definitely a must. Great wine! But most of all beautiful grounds. The church is close by too and has lots of history worth it to visit!

Super dog friendly winery! Dogs can be off leash. Wine selection is great across whites and reds. Carmen’s service was top notch. We had lots of laughs together. Carmen is very friendly and welcoming. She entertained us even though we came close to closing time on New Year’s Eve. Lovely place, highly recommend!

Raining today, so we looked at reviews for a dog friendly winery, and Kilikanoon had fantastic reviews. We arrived to it being very busy (a good sign), but the staff, especially Nicole were fantastic. Our dog was well petted and even was asked if he could have a treat. The “Adventurer” package was great. Very good value for money and lots learnt. We each bought a bottle of wine and if you can stretch to the 2019 Tregea 1998 reserve superb!!!! A very enjoyable “wet” day. Thank you xx

It’s always such a delight to come to Kilikanoon. The venue is very pretty. The staff are very friendly and quite knowledgeable regarding the wines and the region. But the wines are the absolute highlight. From very reasonably priced everyday quaffers through to absolute super premium (best Shiraz in the world *twice* no less!) you’re sure to find something for every palate and level of wine enthusiasm. Defiantly put it on the list if you’re visiting Clare!

My humans visited today and kept raving about the hospitality and knowledge of Carmen, the Assistant Cellar Door Manager, who took them through an amazing flight of the wines. Thank you for making them so happy Carmen and representing the K wines so well! We will come in ourselves next time but today we were too sleepy to leave our warm car. 4 paws for being dog friendly and so welcoming! Big licks from Geo and GJ the Chocolate Labrador explorers. #geohickson

We had a wonderful opportunity as a group of 8 to participate in the Revelation wine tasting experience last month on Tuesday 11th March 2025. Off to a bumpy start as they weren’t expecting 8 of us despite my phone reservation, however all was handled with aplomb and professionalism & we all enjoyed a glass of champagne outside whilst things were sorted. Our host for the event was Carmen & we couldn’t have asked for a more bubbly (pun intended) and attentive host despite her tending to us as well as other guests, and even when under the pump her ability to keep smiling and attention to everyone was exceptional. No request was a bother and Carmen did true credit to Kilikanoon on the day. We all left more the wiser in wines, more the merrier with all the tastings, and more the poorer in the hip pocket. A big thank you for Kilikanoon in providing us with a truely memorable experience and to Carmen for ensuring it was one for the ages. Michael & Annie.
