We paid $5 entry fee to visit for the day and it's worth it. We did the circuit walk around the hill. It takes about 1.5 hours with a couple of rests. Great views and interesting plants. We also saw the rock wallabys.

Great camping spot if you like bush treks and kangaroos. Quite hot but under the trees provided a lot of relief. We stayed at the second camp on a level bank above the dry creek bed. Great spot with kangaroos, parrots and wrens (I think). Did the three hour loop trail to Smoke-Oh Lookout. Signed the trekkers book at the top. Really in interesting walk following creek, then through pines, over hill sides and then the easy climb to the top ... Walk down the other side.

Wow, I've spent so much time going to alligator gorge in the flinders and other spots thinking ok we found the best 🤭🤔 then come Oct just after the rain with the first warm days and couldn't be more relaxed with the water creeks and land scape and even almost pet birds

A fantastic 2 days of 4WD training. Unlike some others, this is one on one training with Norman & Coralie Bee. Their knowledge and practical know how is huge and they make the training fun. Norm even came up with a solution for lowering the spare tyre & took me to the local shop to let me know what I should carry. I received a certification when I was finished and even booked on two of their upcoming tag a long tours to the outback. I would thoroughly recommend taking this course, I loved it.

I was new to 4WD's and not mechanically minded. I had completed a 1 day course with another provider that taught me some things, but I wasn't anywhere near ready to explore this country alone. Luckily I found Pindan and was struck by their passion for travelling this country, which was matched by their knowledge, qualifications and experience over many decades. I undertook the basic and advanced course back to back, which meant one full day of crucial theory followed by two full days of fantastic fun exploring the best of the Flinders. The content taught and the way it was taught was top notch. If I didn't understand something right away I just had to seek clarification and Norm could break it down to my level even further, or explain it another way. But the best part about the training with Pindan is you do the theory first, but then you do absolutely everything you could ever need to do with a 4WD with your own hands and that makes understanding it all so much easier. You see how useful the theory was when you are driving around applying it. The theory day also shows priceless videos of other peoples mistakes so you can learn from them, I found this video analysis incredibly helpful. I got to perform every type of terrain driving possible (except mud or snow, it was the Flinders in summer after all) including both beach sand and desert sand which is softer. I got to drive exclusive rocky terrain and see spectacular sights on huge mountains as well as blast through sand and due to Norm's local connections customers doing his training can access spectacular tracks filled with wildlife and challenging terrain that are not open to the rest of the public, giving you otherwise unseen views of the Flinders. I was taught numerous driving skills crucial to safe 4WDing. You practice every kind of recovery you could possibly need and if you want to do any particular skill more times than usual to feel more confident you can. The one on one training is so well customised to what you need as a future traveller. The assessments are fun and take some time, but they don't take all day so when they are done you can simply explore glorious 4WD tracks up the mountains, or tear about in the sand dunes of the desert, or practice any particular skills you choose to repeat, all whilst Norm acts as both a driving instructor and a local tour guide full of historical knowledge on this stunning part of Australia. When the driving and recovering is done, you are blessed with wonderful photos and videos thanks to Coralie. Even if you don't have your own recovery gear yet, you can do the advanced recovery course and use all of their gear. But my advice would be speak to Norm first either by email or phone, or wait until you are with him in person, before buying any 4WD gear at all. He has no sponsors of any kind, all his recommendations are made in good faith. But he is far superior to the internet for knowledge of the best products because he actually uses recovery gear more than nearly anyone and has been living and breathing 4WD's for decades and decades, he knows what works and what is necessary and unnecessary. I feel so grateful to have met such a kind and knowledgeable couple to give me the necessary skills to explore safely. 4WDing is their passion, not just their business. You also leave with a book that has EVERYTHING you could need written in such an easy to understand way. It has diagrams that you will understand so much better because you have done it all with your own hands. I give Pindan training 10/10, nothing else you do will match the comprehensive nature of their training, which is nationally recognised and can provide a 10% discount off Club4x4 insurance. I will hopefully join Norm and Coralie for one of their epic tours through Australia at some stage in the future. But for now I can travel wherever I wish with the confidence I can keep myself and my loved ones safe even in remote destinations or incredibly rough terrain, and that feeling is priceless.

We recently completed a 2-day 4WD training course with Norm at Pindan Tours. What a fabulous experience! Highly recommended. We expected a large training group, but Norm tailored the course just for us based on our level of knowledge (zilch) and what we wanted to achieve (a bit of confidence in the outback). The training was so thorough, with an emphasis on learning first then putting everything into action ourselves - the best way to learn. In just two days, we're amazed at how much we've learnt and achieved a good level of confidence which is exactly what we hoped for. Norm is a wonderful coach, took the time to explain anything we couldn't understand and taught us so much about the features of our own vehicle along with recommendations for future adjustments. Thanks Norm and Coralie. We had a great couple of days with you.

I would give this more stars if I could. Norm and Coralie were excellent instructors and taught us a lot about our car and what it could do, and how to do it. They built our 4WD confidence by 100% and more. We had theoretical and practical experience. They welcomed us into their home and endeared themselves to us with their easy going nature all the while challenging us to do what we didn't think we could. The weekend was worth every cent. I highly recommend Pindan Tours and 4WD training.

My son and I attended the 4WD training course with Norm and Coralie. The training was comprehensive and delivered very professionally and we both gained invaluable experience which would be hard to find anywhere else. Norms local knowledge of the Flinders Ranges area and tracks was valuable in planning future trips. Highly recommended!

I would highly recommend this 2 day 4WD course with Norm and Coralie from Pindan Tours and 4WD Training. We learned so much about the capability of our Isuzu MUX off road and gained confidence driving in sand dunes, steep inclines and descents and over rocky terrain. We got to do this outside of Quorn in the beautiful Flinders Ranges so the view were stunning along the way. We also learnt how to get out of trouble using recovery gear when bogged in sand. Norm and Coralie are extremely knowledgeable in 4WD and helped steer us with the necessary recovery gear to have on hand. They are also lots of fun, we had plenty of laughs, enjoyed Norms muffins for morning tea, and many pats with their dear old dog Muffin. Two of the best days we have had! We cannot recommend Pindan tours highly enough. We spent 2 days in training with Norman and had a blast. We learnt a huge amount about 4WDing and had a lot of fun doing it. We were impressed by Normans passion for 4WDing and the outback, as well as his professionalism combined with country hospitality. We found the theory really valuable to inform on the practical lesson. We learnt some great information about the mechanics of the car, tyre pressures, terrain types and what ‘not to do’. Norman’s videos and photos kept the day entertaining and the theory was really well presented, organized, interesting and informative. The practical day was a complete blast. The tracks we went on showed incredible views and enabled us to put the theory we had learnt the previous day into practice. It was controlled but challenging. We learnt recovery techniques in both rocky terrain and desert sand. Norman also took us through some safety driving on gravel roads. The day was jam packed and Norm and his wife Coralie were both very generous with their time and knowledge. Since doing the course we have now already been on tracks designated for experienced 4WD’ers and we felt competent, and handled the tracks well. If you want an adventure and have never done any 4WDing (like us), or just want to brush up on your 4WDing skills we would highly recommend getting in touch with Norman at Pindan tours. We haven’t been on a tag along tour but having spent a couple of days with them, we think it would be fantastic. We hope we can get back over this way some day soon to do one!!

We enjoyed our tour of the Flinders Ranges with Astrid. We were picked up and dropped off in front of our safari tent at Wilpena Pound Resort. We travelled through the gorges, past Parachilna, had lunch in Blinman and saw some excellent lookouts. Astrid's informative and relaxed commentary helped to make this a tour well worth doing.

My wife and I went on a four day tour with Wallaby Tracks last week, and the entire experience was top notch! From the initial inquiries to booking and answering whatever questions we had (this was the first time I had taken such a tour) leading up to the tour, everything was seamless. Paul was our tour guide and far exceeded any expectations I had. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the entire region, took the time to show us everything and anything we came across in Flinders Ranges - seeing kangaroos, rock wallabys, emus, all sorts of birds, a 4x4 tour as well as a flight over Flinders Ranges. To further personalize the experience, he took the time to show us some more detailed family history from the region that they researched before we arrived (a relative lived here about 150 years ago). If you are looking for a personalized and easy trip into the Outback, Wallaby Tracks is the way to go!

Our 4-day tour with Paul (co-owner, with his wife Astrid, of Wallaby Tracks) was one of the best we've experienced in a long career of global travel. Paul was knowledgeable, thoughtful and engaging. The tour was well-curated, taking account of the preferences we'd expressed.

What a fantastic trip of a lifetime enjoyed by my friend and I. Paul took us on a 5 day / 4 night adventure from Adelaide, Coober Pedy, Lake Eyre and the Flinders Ranges. Paul is an excellent driver, knows heaps about the areas we explored and you felt completely safe and looked after. We saw amazing vistas and met some wonderful characters along the way. I think we experienced more on this trip than you might on others because Paul knew so much and because he knew all the locals. Would highly recommend this trip to others and would like to do more trips with Paul and Astrid.

Our 6 hour tour with Astrid was a wonderful experience. Astrid has extensive knowledge of the geology, wildlife and history of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges and the surrounding regions. It was truly fascinating. A highlight for me was seeing the Yellow footed rock wallaby.

An amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience! Astrid and Paul made us feel 'at home' from the outset. The unseasonal rain in Coober Pedy and the Flinders Ranges meant that we saw these areas in a unique way. The rain also meant that Astrid and Paul had their hands full navigating a safe passage on desert and mountain roads unaccustomed to wet weather! They arranged this effortlessly and keep us safe and on track regardless! All aspects of our trip (timing, accommodation, food, sightseeing) and all of our unique requests were met generously. Morning tea and lunch was supplied. Spectacular landscape, spotted the Yellow footed rock wallaby close by which came out to greet us. Emus and the Red caped robin. What a great train ride out to woodshed flats and back again. This is run by volunteers who do a marvellous job. Had morning tea at woodshed while they moved the engine to the front of train for trip back to Quorn.

Terrific volunteer run heritage railway. Running from Quorn near the Flinders ranges to Pr Augusta. A shorter trip is available to Woolshed Creek. Wonderful views and lovely restored carriages.

A great morning spent on the Pichi Richi Explorer to Woolshed Flat and return. Picturesque scenery, friendly and informative volunteers, especially Mike, who was in our carriage. It's wonderful that our heritage is being preserved. Thanks again for a memorable outing with our grandchildren.

Sunset Run to Woolshed Flats was good. Fantastic volunteers both on the train and at Woolshed Flats ( doing the catering). Great steak sandwich for $11.00. Congratulations to all volunteers, not only for the tours but the whole program of restoring and maintaining the lines and the rolling stock. Great job!

Great experience for the family. Just a little bit pricey for a family ticket for a 35 min ride one way, then an hour lunch break, then 35 minute ride back. Scones and a coffee was kind of advertised as free at halfway point but was another cost. Is run by all volunteers so I take my hat off to all the members that run it and I hope it runs for a long time. It is a piece of great Australian history

Ride into history aboard part of the old Ghan railway; the kids will love the steam and rattle. Shake hands with the friendly volunteers who keep this remarkable train running.

Great experience, we were lucky enough to have the steam locomotive. The scenery is fantastic. Volunteer staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We got off at Quorn and had 2hrs to wonder around the town. Again lucky because the Quandong festival was on which was fantastic. I would highly recommend this trip

Located on the main drag through Wilmington, cant miss it. Well worth a quick look, but it wont be quick. Rooms out the back of rooms out the back of rooms, all chock a block full of toys, from ancient to todays. Many models of trains, cars and the Titanic. Some big toys for the bigger kids. Owner is friendly and knowledgeable. Only $10 entry.

What an interesting place to visit!! So many cars,trucks,planes,trains and more to look at. Absolutely an amazing collection. We really enjoyed our time wondering around chatting to David(the owner) a wealth of knowledge. The more questions you ask the more David responds in such passionate way. His collection is truly amazing!! A must see and do when visiting Wilmington.

Excellent tour of the Toy Museum showcasing many, many toys collection..There are memories to be had for most visitors.

WOW!! Not much to see in the outside, but once I walked in, WOW, I was blown away by the WONDERFUL collection. When passing through Wilmington, visit, ring the bell and the owner will open the door. Check this out for yourself, I did, AMAZING displays

Huge collection of …. Things! Primarily collectible cars and automobiles but you’ll sure to find at least one item that gives you a real sense of nostalgia. Most of the items are under a secure layer or dust, faded or partially water damaged as the ceiling leaks in some places. $5 entry fee

lots of sharp rocks, did it in Vivos and my feet are little sore but not that bad. Love the reminders of where you're up to every 500m shown on metal poll. I tapped each one with my water bottle thinking "I've only got X amount to go! :D" took just under 4 hours but I started at the hotel.

Very enjoyable walk with only gradual inclines. Magnificent views on the way up but due to trees poor view from the top. Drive up to the WW1 monument to start your journey.

A most satisfying walk! Great to have the Heysen Trail to walk on when the other half is on the bike trails. Something for both of us. Useful platforms up top on which to lounge and make tea. Views are on the way, not on arrival. Walked it several times from the showground and deservingly back via the pub.

Nice track totalling about 12km, or 13 by the loop. View from the summit is non-existent, but a stunning view all the way up the North track. Not for the unfit, but achievable for the average person.

Excellent country town museum. Original stone courthouse and police buildings around a large yard, with a newer (20yo) building housing terrific historic displays. Lots of original items and stories of the struggles to survive the early days, through to recent years. Old machinery, lockup cells, and magnificent huge gum trees shading it all. Well worth an hour of your time - then check out the great cafe/bike shop over the road. Two good pubs too.

Worth the 360km round trip for this cafe alone. One of the best coffee’s I’ve ever had - thank YOU! Rustic and cosy, did not want to leave. Loved the subtle yet tasteful Flinders Ranges decor and unique, local produce. Melrose, the town its self, and Over The Edge is such a hidden gem!

We stayed 2 nights in Melrose for some hiking and visited here for breakfast both mornings. The food is next level fantastic!! I wish we could’ve stayed longer as I’d like to try everything on the menu. Possibly the best brekky I’ve ever had. Great service too and ambience.

Well tickle me pink, if this isn’t the best thing since Super Elliots cycles in Adelaide, a fully sick bike shop and a cafe/coffee shop/ bike repair shop, offering around 100km of trails mostly single track and various skill levels for people of all walks of life and daredevilnes, Also with tours with bikes to hire that are more than just a cheap Kmart ride, this place is absolutely fantastic. As for the cafe side of things great stuff, great people and great prices

While on a road trip with my boyfriend, we stopped at this café to grab a coffee and a meal. Great place, good music, very friendly staff, and the food and coffee were delicious. I highly recommend stopping here!

Popped in to the Cafe at Over the Edge Sports today for a quick lunch on our way back to Adelaide after visiting Parachilna for the night. Pleasantly surprised by this cafe and associated bike sales / hire / service shop... A unique combination and a very popular one at that..! Staff were friendly and attentive, the decor was clean and comfortable, my toasted ham and cheese and tomato relish sandwich was fresh and tasty and our coffees - extra hot almond cappuccino and iced almond cappuccino - were on point. I took a quick look in the adjacent bike shop and there's everything there that a keen cyclist - especially mountain bikers - needs from sales to servicing... Good work Over the Edge Sports!! See you again on our next trip!!

The best coffee, lovely and tasty. Friendly staff. Hubs had a large caramel slice which he finished off with a big smile! I had a bliss ball!! Fire roaring. Nice place to hang out for a while. Food being served looked lovely, but we just wanted a coffee stop. Perfect. 10/10.

The entry fee to see the massive panoramas of the flinders are worth seeing and are set up with landscapes in the foreground and outback noises. Jeff’s huge collections of stones, antiques and cars are worth seeing. The stair case to view the Panama is cover because it’s built to the same height of St Mary’s Peak.

Jeff is so talented. Wow Everything about the Gallery was fantastic it exceeded our expectations loved exploring the different areas. Highly recommend it you want be disappointed. The painting are stunning he has really show cased the flinders ranges.

This is a must see and experience an amazing talented Australian!

This review is only relevant for powered caravan sites 1 and 2 and powered tent sites 1 and 2. The map that is given in reception is not to scale, nor are there signs for tent sites 1 and 2. We were given caravan powered site 2, when we arrived at the site there were 2 tents set up. Back to reception, they said they would send a staff member to sort it out. The staff member spent 15 minutes trying to find powered tent sites 1 and 2 and was also confused by the map. The tents in our caravan site should have been in powered tent site 2. The staff mamber said we could park our caravan in tent site 2, however they site was not suitable to park a caravan. Staff went to the people in canavan site 2 and told them to move their tents etc to tent site 2 and left. We sorted out that the tents could stay were they were and we parked our van on the same large site and share for the 2 nights we were both in the park. About a hour later another car looked very lost and was driving around. They came to van site 1 and asked if that was the tent site - lucky we now knew where powered tent site 1 was and walked them over to their site. Apart from the confusion with the sites the park is well run, IGA is well stocked with food and some camping equipment. Free drinking water in 10L cubes is available for all campers. Location of the park means there are several walks that start within the park, and easy access to drive to other attractions in the area. We will visit again, would be good if the park could sort out signs for powered tent sites 1 and 2 and make the map more to scale (or at least have the powered sites opposite each other thr same on the map)

Stayed in Edeowie room.Nice spacious clean rooms with tv,small fridge,microwave,stovetop & all dishes etc for self catering. We also ate in restaurant & food was very good. Staff all friendly & helpful. We had a flight & booked a couple of tours with young Samuel who was a great driver & guide & extremely knowledgeable.(well worth doing!) Trey who we did a half hour flight with also was great…very informative and made us feel relaxed with his flying & humour. Thank you all for our great stay…Joan & Ari

The rooms are clean and very comfortable but get one with self catering if you are staying for a few days. The store has enough food to make meals. Wilpena Pound resort is situated in a magnificent woodland of red gums. The walks are stunning with rehabilitated bush, now goats have been removed. Some of the walks are on flat open roads, so easier to access for people who have balance issues or can’t walk far. You can still enjoy the natural beauty everywhere you look. You can also choose to take a shuttle bus along one of the walks. The cultural walking tour is a must do. It was so relaxing to choose a walk each day, take it slowly and be surprised by the diversity of vegetation, the changing light on the rocks and the local wildlife you encounter on the way.

We stayed in the glamping accommodation. The 2 person room is about 25sq metres, with air con and a balcony entry. There is alsoan adjoining bathroom. Other accommodation is more regular resort style. There is also powered and unpowered camp sittes. Large dining and bar area

We stayed in an unpowered site and were not informed that there were arborists pruning trees in and around our campsite from 8am-5pm during our entire stay (with tree branches falling 3m from our tent). The loud wood chipper and electric saws entirely compromised the serenity and there was saw dust flying into our eyes and food... We understand that the campsite needs to be maintained but not informing people that this will be happening during their stay is hazardous and in very poor form, considering many drive 5+ hours to get there. We ended up being completely refunded for our stay but really had to push for this with the assistant manager.

just had a meal at the resturant. I ordered Scotch fillet @ $ 46.00. I am an ex butcher and the steak I got wasn't Scotch fillet. it was cooked medium rare as i ordered but I needed a chainsaw to cut it and needed a mincer to make it tender enough to eat. A lot of gristle. I couldnt eat it .Told the waiter that I was dissatisfied and was told sorry. I don't usually write reviews but there was no offer to supply me a replacement steak or anything like that. The resort was itself was great, friendly service and very helpful staff. Would recommend the park but not the resturant.

Came here to stay as it’s a central location for adventuring around Flinders Rangers. Got a powered tent site. Another reason to pick here is they have a mini supermarket and a restaurant and pool. As I am motorcycle camping this is all a bonus as no need to carry food or cook. The restaurant food was delicious, and the pool very cooling. The ice blocks at the supermarket and cold beer are amazing on a 36 degrees day. A top up of petrol from there petrol station and continue adventuring! It’s a great Hub to explore from!

Three of us recently took a flight from Rawnsley Park Station to get a great look at Lake Eyre from the air. One of the best things I have ever done. We firstly got a great look at Wilpena Pound and the Marre Man. Wow! It was amazing to see so much of the Flinders Ranges form the air. We also flew over Roxby Downs, Leigh Creek, the opal mining town of Andamooka and Lake Torrens. We landed at William Creek Hotel for lunch before the return trip home. Our pilot Aiden was the perfect man for the job. His knowledge of the area was excellent.

We had an exceptional flight out of Rawnsley Park Station over Flinders Ranges, our pilot was full of knowledge. Perfect weather and visibility. We booked and paid for the 60 minute scenic flight, however from boarding to disembark was only 45mins, so we paid them an extra $105 pp without the experience, so that was disappointing, it appeared they needed to get back for the day trip to Lake Ayre, this is the reason they for the stars rating!

Wow, how fortunate were we. Two day flight from Rawnsley Park, over the Flinders Ranges, stopping at Innamincka, Coopers Creek crossing, overnight at Birdsville, where we did the Big Red tour, back along the Diamantina/Warburton River to Lake Eyre North and South, Maree Man, lunch at Maree, over Leigh Creek, back over the Flinders Ranges to return to Rawnsley Park for the night. (That is the short version). Weather - perfect. Pilot Aiden - amazing. Information/commentary - exceptional. Experience - wonderful-never to be forgotten. Hospitality - outback Australian at its best. Originally planned to just do a day flight, but the cost of the two day flight faded into insignificance compared to the return for our investment. The two day flight went above and beyond our expectations. Thanks so much to Felicity for her assistance, reassurance, research, question answering during the booking process-her sense of humour was not so bad either. Also for finding a fourth guest who fitted with the rest of us like a glove. This is not a luxury tour, but this is a comfortable and genuine, Australian outback experience and we three LOVED it.

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the pilot Felicity was very knowledgeable. The views during the flight were incredible and the meal at William Creek Hotel was great. However, we travelled in the 7 seater plane which was VERY rough on the inside. Roof lining falling down, back of seat broken and the window surround trim kept popping out. We also froze on the morning flight as we were unable to turn some of the air vents off because parts were missing. We also noticed oil leaking at the lower part of the left wing near the fuselage. We felt that the plane needs lots of attention.

Fantastic! A 500+ years old gum tree! What it must've seen over the years! The boughs are larger than most typical tree trunks!

🌳 The Giant Redgum Tree definitely lives up to the “giant” part—it’s impressively large. But beyond that? It’s a tree. Snap a photo for scale, appreciate its age and presence, then continue on your journey. One of those “you’ve seen it, now you’ve seen it” kind of stops. 😅

Good little picnic area that looks reasonably new. There is space for a turning circle if you are towing. The tree is massive and beautiful, well worth a quick stop.

Wow this is a magestic old tree. There are picnic tables and a BBQ shelter. Don't expect grass and playgrounds this is beautiful back to nature

Beautiful historic site, complete with infomitive signage of the historical value. Though I would like to see some information about the significance of the site to the traditional owners (aboriginal communities in the area) BBQ area and seating under a sturdy shelter, make this a good spot for lunch after a long drive, and the public toilets aren't too far away,in the nearby township of orroroo.

Kids actually really loved this! I might have hyped up the car being pulled up a hill a bit though!!

What a great, random attraction. A 5 minute drive from the main highway on an unsealed road brings you to this cool little stop. Just a fun random attraction that works one way or another!

Enjoy for 1 minute but drive for 7 hours back and forth (from Adelaide CBD). It was fun but not worth it in my opinion. It could be enjoyable for kids but again, decide if the drive is worth it. Last few kms are definitely on dirt road. But I was able to access it with ease on Mazda CX 5. It was a dry day so easy to access.

An illusion that could be the makings of some comical filming, however i would not go out of my way just to see it.

If you have the time to drive out here it's certainly a novelty that is worth it. I met an older couple who was also there and the man driving looked like a kid on Christmas morning so that made the trip worth it for me haha.

A great place to visit while travelling. This park has everything you need: easy parking with shade, clean toilets, playground, BBQ, picnic seating, grassy play areas, historic displays, and shady trees. Definitely with the stop. Don't forget to pop across the road to see the the RM Williams exhibit also.

A little hard to navigate or find buildings. Nice spot for funerals with elegantly appointed ceremony rooms and reception rooms for tea/coffee and a chat room. Playground for kids which is great for those with children to keep occupied. Lots of free parking

These are the memorial gates at Jamestown. My grandfather J.P. McCormick's name is there along with his brother. He went over to Egypt in WW1. I am very proud of my grandfathers actions of going to war. Jamestown is a great town to visit if you have the time, there are some nice wall murals featuring local activities. Worth the trip

A very good evening show was put on which cost $30, and I was able to take my dog. It gave a detailed explanation of how the railway started and how Peterborough became so important. I couldn’t help wonder how anyone got anything clean with so many steam trains pumping out smoke all day! 😂 It was a good movie and light show, nicely done. Plenty of parking and toilets on site

Fascinating look into the days of steam train travel and the major part that Peterborough played in it. Highly recommend the guided tour in the day time and the light and sound show at night.

Great collection of historic buildings and rail cars and locomotives. It's a bit sad that nothing is alive any more since they no longer have access to track to run trains. Knowledgeable guide with continuous tour around the site so you can join at any time with little wait. Timing didn't allow us to attend the light and sound show but I have heard it is very good.

Such a shame that the Visitors Centre and Steamtown is normally closed. We were just lucky that they were having a one- off guided tour, which was fantastic. So much history and all the steam trains and infrastructure still there. It really needs to be preserved and reopened.

Excellent. Did the railway light show at night. If u stay caravan park the get u a free taxi to and from the site. Well worth the money. I didn't want to go. But glad l did.

Brilliant. The trains tour was well worth the time it took. 2 hours of very informative history of Sth. Australian trains. The trains they have in there is incredible.

Went through Peterborough and made sure we were there when it said it was open (10-4 on weekdays) only to arrive be told it was closed, very much disappointed. Prob wont get to see it again as so far from home

Took a tour of the printing works today. Having a history in the printing trade, it was good to see the various machines, tools, type cases, setting sticks etc., that I once used myself, so lovingly restored. to working condition. Small but worthwhile activity area.

Great to see different bikes of older times. Just one large room with 2 smaller knock knack rooms off to side. If you’re passing through, make the effort to go but probably not worth going out of your way. Gentlemen who owns it is very friendly and welcomed any questions.

The owner was very knowledgeable and friendly and informed us of the stories behind some of their bikes.

Excellent collection of bikes and other paraphernalia, $7 well worth the visit , even non motorcycle fans will be interested, glad we stopped and looked.

I didn't go in😔It's probably a great museum but keep in mind they have Zero tolerance for dogs of any sort. Not even well behaved fur babies are allowed to sit quietly inside the door out of the heat.....I bet they accept bratty kids.

A very popular tourist site if you are visiting Broken Hill. The panoramic view is just amazing, a combination of hills and valleys. Apparently, some scenes of Mad Max 2 were shot near this site. This place is a couple of kilometres from Silverton. Bear in mind that the road is very bumpy, and you need to look out for the sudden changes in the road profile. Further some places looked like they were in the way of floodwaters, and can contain some debris if there is a recent flooding. Despite the hardships, it's a must visit, you won't be disappointed.

Looks out over the Mundi Mundi Plains where Mad Max was filmed. Not alot to see but open expanse. Only 5kms from Silverton so worth a short drive.

I didn’t know mad Max was filmed here. But it is the perfect spot to watch the sunset with some cheese and wine. Once the sun goes down, you can stargaze.

It’s just a car park on the road to nowhere but it’s a great spot to appreciate the vast wilderness all the way to the horizon

Great place to have a cool drink and food. They also sell souvenirs & t-shirts. All day menu is great so you can eat at any time after the bakery is closed.

Great people and our burgers were so good. The egg was perfectly done, chips were good, but we were stalked by birds! Definitely don't feed them! Lol, literally it started with one, and before you know it we were surrounded - and we DIDN'T feed them. Good food, decent prices, and a talking cockatoo at the back near the toilets. Adorable. We aren't into Mad Max, but the other memorabilia around is cool. Worth the stop.

This place is certainly about the vibe. The service can be a little bit short as in a bit rough but it seems okay. I definitely want to come back here and check out all the decoration. History and memorabilia of all the famous people, TV shows and movies that have used this hotel. I think the food is okay but we only got chips this time.

We ordered seafood basket and grilled fish and vegies. Umph, grilled fish, hot chips good but vegies and seafood basket heated food. Our wines were $8 a glass which was good. Best thing was being out there at sunset as the flies went to bed, the camel ride came into town and the donkeys grazed down the road. The hotel was very dog friendly but not busy.

It was a pleasure to be welcomed by 4 Donkeys when we walked over to the pub for dinner, the ‘inside’ staff were very welcoming, the beer was cold and the food was a simple menu but well cooked and timely.

Quite the worst pub food I have ever been served. Bangers and mash, hard to stuff up but they did. In a sentence, set a low standard and failed to achieve it. Cheap thin sausages that appeared to have been tortured in a sandwich press. Gravy that was congealed like resin. This place runs on a memory, thats all it will be to me now. Over priced and over rated. A diehard mad max fan may find the sights of of interest, otherwise save your money, time and suspension.

Fascinating museum with all original costumes and wrecked cars and gear used in the filming. Unseen behind the scenes footage and 100s of still photos. A must see - especially if you saw the movie.

Loved our experience! A lot of work and effort has gone into this private museum. We certainly enjoyed ourself. The owners were lovely and we enjoyed our chat!

Must visit if you like the Mad Max films, lots of paraphernalia from the Mad Max 2 film. Cars and props from the film. People that run the museum are very friendly and informative.

A lot of work has been put into replicating props/vehicles that have been destroyed or are in museums overseas. Some original pieces are on display. A great display of photos from filming and other sources. Glad we made the effort to go.

If your into Mad Max movies and you love the cars and memorabilia than you cannot miss this place ... may hubby tooks lots of pictures of the supercharge cars and sent them to our sons who were so jealous... lots of history & the owners have so much knowledge

My god! Where do I start? Even though the place is small they have so much memorabilia to look at and actual stuff from the movie. The couple that run it are so nice and love to have a chat. Recommend this place 100%.

Another great museum in Silverton, the Silverton Goal is a beautiful old building and had a very extensive collection of historical artefacts from the area. I had a wonderful chat with the caretaker who told me about some locations in the area where Mad Max 2 was filmed and that he and his wife were involved in the film, too.

Wasn't expecting such a huge amount of information and history when I walked in. Friendly and helpful staff. Allow some extra time for this sppt. A massive amount of town history on one place.

I spent a good hour here today fully entertained and only left as I had the dog with me. There’s plenty to see, more than expected that’s for sure. 18 rooms of history both from the Gaol itself it also collections from the whole area. You can certainly get a feel of life in the ‘old times’ of Silverton and of the many mining exploits throughout the region. Everyone would find something of interest whether that’s family life or mining. Got to be worth a visit.

We enjoyed the Silverton museum, so many items to tell about life in the remote outback. The lady at the front was lovely too!

A great collection of artifacts and objects from the local footy team from 1907 to hairdressing. Love the electric curler set and bathtub. Thought it was an early version of an electric chair!

Although this is a bit out of town on a dirt road we were able to go safely in a campervan. Whilst rather dusty it’s an interesting little spot, you can see the older part of the cemetery from your vehicle and don’t have to get out.

Getting to see & experience this historic mine (in operation from 1880s) was very enlightening. Whole new appreciation for how hard a miners life was. The underground tour can be tight in some places and not everyone on our tour coped well with that, so just bare that in mind if you are claustrophobic or have a large frame. Scones at the end were lovely. If you have the time when out Broken Hill way I recommend popping in for a visit.

The area seems pretty looked after, they try their best. Very friendly people and full of tourists. The road to get there can be very rough though. I just hope next time that I can understand the tour guide better, his accent was abit mumbled. It is full of information and memorabilia. When there was a big crowd and the buses of people coming in, it was a little bit confusing. Who was going with which group. There is very little mobile reception so best to bring cash as the payment systems for card can fail.

Brilliant experience! The boys doing the tour work were friendly and entertaining. The lady in the kitchen made the most amazing scones and the quandong jam was delicious! Easy to get too, plenty of parking. Really peaceful place. Definitely worth the trip out☺️

Really enjoyed the mine tour experience. Very real and certainly not "modified" for unfit tourists. On the negative - the grumpy old man at reception needs to let up on his lecturing for cash payments. For improvement - our guide Angus was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humor, however, his mono tonal and rapid speech made it difficult to understand him all the time and would have been impossible to understand for many O/S tourists.

Terrific insight into the mining realities of late 19th Century. The life beyond tough, makes today’s workplaces seem like an absolute picnic! The guide really told it how it was, which was fascinating and horrifying. Highly recommended tour. Scones afterwords delicious. NB: Apple Maps sent us to the wrong spot, so I’ve reported the issue

An eye opening tour about Australian historic mining. The guide was very knowledgeable and was great. I highly recommend the underground mining tour, but you do need to be about to walk down/up stairs and hunched over in the areas only 1.2m high. Enclosed shoes are a must. Our 8yr old loved every second of the tour. It's very authentic. Try the scones and tea afterwards or beforehand, yum. The staff here are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Now this is worth visiting.... the way miners operated in early times.... my hats off to them....hard work in trying conditions. Gives you a perspective of times gone bye. Excellent home cooked scones at the end.
