Very well set out gardens.with lots of picnic spots and BBQ, plus a small take away shop at the front. We worth the walk around with all the different areas set out like a native area, desert area, rain forest etc. Set out at least a 1/2 day to see it all. Jenny Divers

Well maintained gardens that's free entry and parking. There's different areas, eg kids playground, rainforest, zoo, cafe etc. There's a model railway but check times as it wasn't operating when i went during the weekday.
Metta M — Google review
A gorgeous free zoo! You can pet the animals and hold the birds and feed the cows. Such a sweet and wonderful day out!
Chel D — Google review
A lovely well-maintained garden. Very peaceful. Plenty of parking is available on-site.
Jason H — Google review
In OK condition. It was disappointing that most plants were not labelled with their names and some gardens were full of weeds. However, there are many wonderful plants there, a zoo,, playgrounds and picnic facilities and a wonderful mini train to ride on on 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. A great place for families.
John H — Google review
Beautiful gardens to sit and enjoy the sun . We didn't see any animals . I think it's too cold for them. At 8 degrees at 1130 am. My whinge for these gardens are. The toilet lights didn't work. If I had a child go in there, it would scare them it was pitch black ⚫️ in the toilets. Luckily, I had my phone for lighting. Big slip up wagga council. It's a safety issue. Great area for kids to play. A nice walk to stretch ypur legs.

Stunning Regional Arts centre and National Glass Space. The various Glass exhibitions were quality works by talented artists. I especially loved the Women exhibition upstairs for Year of the Woman. Hard to believe this contemporary set of buildings is now 40 years old. Thank you Helen for the personalised introduction. ❤️

A wonderful display of beautiful glass art pieces. The sleek bright building is the perfect setting. I loved the different techniques used and the variety in styles. Of the 800 art pieces in the collection, about 200 are displayed at a time. The exhibition changes every 3 months or so. I will definitely come back in Feb or March to visit again.

Nice small local museum. There are 2 sites to the museum, we saw both. They took about 2 hours to see each. Interesting facts on offer. A warm and interesting place to be on a cold winter day. Both museums were free entry. I am jealous that I do not have a museum in my local area.

A very interesting museum, featuring ww1 history and there also was a lot of farm machinery outside, even an old telephone booth. My husband and I really enjoyed this exhibition very much. Free admission.

The Rock Nature Reserve - Kengal Aboriginal Place

National park
Nature & Wildlife Areas
A great hike above the surrounding Plains, and only a 20-minute drive from Wagga. The summit hike requires a moderate level of fitness. The trail becomes more demanding toward the summit, but the views are amazing. Plenty of parking, with toilet amenities at the carpark. Take a picnic. There are many opportunities to relax and enjoy a light snack between ascent and decent.
BJ P — Google review
Fantastic hike with a unique biome. I saw a wedge tailed eagle up close and a sand Goanna! Take heaps of water in summer. Descent is steep for the harder trail. Great views. Happy hiker.
Watermelons ! — Google review
A local Jane told us about this hiking spot, that's it's the must do thing to do at The Rock town. The hike was really beautiful - views amazing. Just very rocky terrain. Wear good walking shoes and best to bring a walking stick to help with balance. There are two trials up. The ridge trail is very rocky and difficult if you are not used to that kind of hike. But we found it easy to do, just need to take your time And watch your footing. Home took us around 3 hours
Lauren L — Google review
Good track for the most part. As others have mentioned there are a couple of places where the track isn't as easy to see which way to go. The last ascent where you need to turn right has a yellow arrow but it is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. It would benefit having a proper sign there. That is due to the track appearing to continue past it. Lot's of loose gravel particularly on the first 2km or so. Make sure you have decent footwear. Views are great and the facilities at the carpark are good with toilets and picnic area.
David N — Google review
Some great walks with stunning views. Barbecue, picnic area and toilets all clean.
Paul G — Google review
Great hike up to the top, definitely worth going to the proper summit for the views, they're incredible. Some challenging routes for experienced hikers which are lots of fun and there's a good loop you can do. Kangaroos about.
Jameel S — Google review
Fantastic hike up the mountain. Read a comment suggesting to start with Yerong track as it is mostly an easy walk to warm up before it begins to climb. Good signage as everyone has said all the way. Had great views of surrounding areas and good visibility on this summer afternoon. Wasn’t too hot as most of the way up was in tree coverage or behind the shadow of the mountain. After starting along Yugay track from the intersection you climb up again to the ridge and get more views. Only a short section required to scramble down steep rocks on the way back on Yugay track. Took under 3 hours including break time and mostly walking at an easy pace.
Phillip V — Google review
Great trek and excellent views from the top. Will definitely do it again!

Beautiful historic building with plenty of stories and pieces of history inside to explore. Guide at the front counter was a delight to talk to and was also extremely knowledgeable about the building and the town's history. Be sure to get a demo of the Lamson cash delivery rail system, possibly one of the last standing of its kind in Australia

Well worth a visit and best of all there's no charge to enter. Make sure you go into the attached museum which has many interesting items. Staff are friendly and informative.

Absolute must-see! Can’t leave Coolamon without seeing the last of its kind cash delivery track systems in Australia! Perfectly demonstrated by a local volunteer. Unfortunately some missing pieces in the history of the town of Coolamon, would visit again! If ever again in coolamon

Coolamon Fire Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
The Coolamon Fire Museum muster held in October is an interesting event. Current and Vintage Fire Engines are on display in the main street. The street is blocked off closed for the event. Classic and Vintage Car Clubs support muster with a display of classic vehicles. There are demonstrations from the S.E.S. supporting the Fire Fighters. This is a family orientated event. Something for little kids, parents, and granparents.
Paul — Google review
A retired fireman has built up a collection of memorabilia over 40 odd years and makes it available to the public for free. Happily chats about it to those who are interested. Excellent range of items, lots to see. He was kind enough to let me buy a fridge magnet despite being a touch short.
C X — Google review
This is an absolute must see! Chris is fantastic and a wealth of knowledge. This was a wonderful experience and definitely will come back in again when we come through town.
Alex — Google review
A great destination to visit for the locals who love fire trucks. There's such a great variety of fire engines and equipment to look at, both old and new. The kids and elderly will probably love it too! 🚒🔥🚒
Kevin B — Google review
A great museum in a small country town. The guy looking after it is an ex firefighter and has a heap of information... very interesting and worth a stop
Musketeer D — Google review
Having stopped at Coolamon to visit the cheese factory, we walked past the Fire Museum and decided to poke our head in… well what a fantastic museum. Located in the former fire station, the museum houses a wide collection of fire memorabilia. The owner is knowledgeable and will talk through what the equipment is and how it was used. If you are ever near by, then stop in and discover some Australian history!
Andrew G — Google review

Loved this place. Daughter couldn't get enough of the water slides. Whilst these cost 50c a go they're good fun and the general entry is very cheap. You can bring a picnic and there's plenty of shady spots and fun for everyone
Lachlan G — Google review
Great place for adult swimmers and kids alike. Well supervised. Lots to do or just relax in the shade, both artificial and natural through an abundance of trees, in 40degree heat. They even have high volume air conditioners pool side for extra hot days.
Martin L — Google review
What an amazing day trip to have ☺️ Pools a plenty, lots of play areas for little ones. Affordable canteen and entry fees. You can take a picnic if you want or use the BBQ facilities. Staff were all so lovely and happy to chat to this "tourist" who had a million questions. Wheelchair accessible pools too.
Louise D — Google review
Large camp ground including RV, caravan, trailer campers. Has an aquatic center across the road that also has water slides. Lake Talbot offers boating, kayaking, sup, and water skiing.
Rhys M — Google review
The Lake Talbot complex is an absolute gem. The pools and seating/grassed areas are spotlessly clean and well maintained. Staff are polite and well attentive to the safety of the swimmers. Entry and water slide pricing is very reasonable. No, actually, it's cheap! Finding somewhere to park can be tricky on the busy days. Update: Revisited Dec 2024. Still a great place for a day out with the family!!
Howard H — Google review
Great set up. Lots of shade, variety of seating and coin operated BBQ facilities. Slides are 50 cents a go and you buy slide ride tickets in lots of five. Thoroughly recommend a visit if you have kids, although it is great for the big ones as well as there were adults swimming laps in the 50m pool while we were there to.
A W — Google review
What an absolute gem! My family and I came for a day out and it's safe to say everyone gave it a glowing review. We were fortunate there was barely anyone there, the lifeguard told me it gets pretty packed over school holidays + Saturdays/Sundays in January. The toddler pool and splash pad are great. There is a gradually deepening wading pool that goes to 1.2m I think, along with huge, deep lap pool. The three slides are AMAZING. The purple and orange one was lots of fun, full of twists and turns. There are two speed racers which only opened for a bit of the day as the crowd was too small, but lots of fun too. There are lovely toilets with showers and a changing area. BBQs and a kiosk selling hot chips, chicken nuggets, lollies, ice creams etc. There is ample shaded seating with picnic tables. Entry is $4 per person, kids under 4 (?) free. The slides are additional, we paid $10 for 20 slides - you can share them, they can be used on multiple visits. The hot chip cup is $3. This is SO reasonably priced and so much fun. We'll definitely be back over Summer!!
Jessica M — Google review
A great place to cool off with lots of pools, slides, activity area and a Cafe. Entry doesn't break the bank and the staff are helpful and friendly. There is lots of parking and don't forget there are barbecues here too.

Every country town has a point of interest and Narrandera is no different. Make sure you look around, especially at the Tiger Moth Memorial. We stayed at the Bishops Lodge which was very comfortable and quiet. Go look at the railway station too.

If you’re interested in aviation, definitely worth spending 20 minutes or more here to look at the exhibits and learn about the history of the tiger moth and WW2 pilots from the local area.

Wow. Doesn't have the charm of the old building BUT WOW the new bathrooms. Please show some respect and keep them tidy and clean up after yourselves when using these great facilities. Thanks to the local guide assistant for taking photos for us. We didn't get her name, but she was lovely.

Narrandera Tiger Moth Memorial

Museum
History Museums
5-Star Review for Narrandera Tiger Moth Memorial The Narrandera Tiger Moth Memorial is a fascinating and beautifully preserved piece of history. Dedicated to the World War II training of pilots, this site offers a unique glimpse into Australia’s aviation heritage. The centerpiece, the Tiger Moth aircraft, is displayed with great care and surrounded by informative plaques that provide insights into its historical significance. The memorial is well-maintained, and you can feel the pride the community takes in honoring this part of their history. The location is serene, making it a great spot to reflect and appreciate the sacrifices and achievements of those involved in wartime aviation. It’s a must-visit for history buffs, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone traveling through Narrandera. A wonderful tribute and a true highlight of the town—highly recommended!
Max N — Google review
A great display and information. So nice to see the aircraft so well maintained and stored in a suitable building to preserve it.

Stopped at a neat little park in Narrandera for lunch. What a find. Neat and tidy park, great information centre and rest rooms adjacent to a little museum housing a tiger moth. Really well presented and full of information and other aviation history. Free admission and well worth the stop.
Peter S — Google review
Wonderful little restoration. Loads of information. Drop in it's free.
Tomo T — Google review
Proud to say my sister's husband had a big hand in building this aircraft. Fitting tribute.
BRETT K — Google review
What an interesting place! It's free to enter and well worth the time, A tribute to no. 8 Elementary Flying School. It is like Narranderas mini war memorial. Very well set out and presented. The main feature, a Tigermoth biplane is centrepiece of the display and within metres of you at all times. By itself it's worth the visit to be so close to this amazing aircraft. However, there is so much more in the building, there is memorabilia from the time, an extensive series of photographs, scale models of aircraft to get an idea of size of their size in lelation to the Tiger Moth on display. There are also TV's playing interviews with people who were based or served in Narrandera, as well as old film footage from the second world war era. It really is worth dropping in.
Tus G — Google review
Still closed as of Thursday 04 Jan 2024. Looks awesome from the glimpses stolen between construction barriers. Will be back!

Lillypilly Estate Wines

Winery
Food & Drink
Wineries & Vineyards
We were amazed at all of the awards that Lillypilly has on display and well deserved too. There are a lot of reviews here on sweet and desert wines, but Lillypilly also does great dry reds too. The Shiraz was my favourite owing to it's rich peppery tannin after taste. A full bodied dry red. We also bought other reds too as we were very impressed. Sam was wonderful, giving us complimentary cheese & crackers and with generous pours. This place should be high on your visit list when passing through Leeton.
Aussirose T — Google review
I am only drinking Moscato and dessert wine so I can't say for other varieties. Their Moscato and dessert wine are absolutely lovely and the staff was so kind. He offered me to taste any wine I was interested in. If you come to the area I highly recommend you drop by the place.
Kaykay P — Google review
I can only highly recommend you visit this family run boutique winery. The vineyard history is fantastic, the wines are bloody delicious and the family super lovely. Thank you for looking after us, and keep up the amazing wine making.
Richard J — Google review
A must stop by if you visit Leeton. It is a family scale wineries but you will find different tastes that you won't find in any other place or bottle shop. They won competitions & quite lots of wine with sweet notes, man in the counter is so helpful & friendly. He gave us freebies for our purchase. Pink velvet fiumara sparkling wine amazed us!
Herlina Y — Google review
Stopped in mid-week and Robert spent so much time talking us through each of the wines - all superb! Delightful family run winery, we'll be back next time we're passing through!
Carol M — Google review
If you like dessert wine, you can't miss this place. Tasting is complimentary and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. We ended up trying all dessert wines and loved them all, especially the one served on Quantas business Class. Went home with 13 bottles of wines and if you join as member, they offer you extra discount. Highly recommend this place if you get to Leeton.
Zhenning J — Google review
Great place for wine Testing, has been Awarded since 2008 to 202. I like to recommend this place Lillypilly Estate Wines.
Suman M — Google review
This family owned and operated vineyard, winery and cellar door is just delightful. The pink velvet sparkling was a luxurious strawberry, peach and nectarine creamy infusion of flavours in the mouth. Like nothing I’ve ever tasted. And that was just the beginning. The rest of our tasting experience was just as delightful, and I could give a lengthy blog on everything we tasted and learned. Nothing disappointed us and we came away from this free experience sated, with our first half dozen bottle mixed wine purchase, as signed members of the quaint LillyPilly Estate. This family of Vignerons and Vintners have worked hard and lovingly to produce some of the best wines in Australia

Just an awesome place to go. I’ve been a few times now and love it every time. Make sure you book your tour in advance. I recommend asking for the horse drawn cart if you can, but it depends on the day if they offer it or not. There’s a free roaming part of the park at the start with red pandas, tamarins, servals, lemurs, devils, wombats, monkeys, crocs and so on, just awesome. Then you go on the guided tour and the keepers show you around the whole park and share information about the animals. My friend and I did the additional behind the scenes experience with the meerkats this week and it was just AWESOME. They were SO CUTE and even climbing on top of us and everything 😍🩷

LOVED THIS EXPERIENCE! The guide (didn't get his name but he was a guy) was super knowledgeable and great for the tour. So many different animals and they look happy and healthy. Great for a couple activity or family. Great bang for buck going here only $40 for adults. Make sure you call ahead to book your spot on the tour before getting there. Highly recommend.

What a great little zoo staff are very good. It was very easy access for those with limited mobility although I don't know about wheelchair access. The gates open around 10 minutes before each session you can buy water and soft drinks but know food, there are no picnic facilities so maybe eat before you arrive.
MICK S — Google review
This place was amazing! Our guide, Kate, was particularly passionate and knowledgeable as she drove us around and shared the animals with us. We rode on seats with a shade above us, Safari style through the extensive park. It was a great way of sharing information, building curiosity and excitement, factual and fun. The smaller animals were also a delight to visit. A real highlight of our trip coming out to Griffith!
Linda S — Google review
A must see if you are in the area. The wildlife park has now been running for 20 years and has many important breeding programs. These programs are needed as wild populations have been decimated. The staff have a wonderful knowledge of all the animals. The walk around the small animal enclosure was magic, but the wagon ride around the park was the highlight of the tour. Make sure you book tickets before arriving. PS - We stayed at the Darlington Point caravan park, which was sensational.
Greg C — Google review
It was really well run for the animals to have an enjoyable life and the humans were well looked after in a vehicle towed setup that meant you where high and could see everything really well. This private zoo is well like and supported by many donors who like the ethos of keeping the animals there happy and comfortable and engaged
Monica B — Google review
The kids had a fantastic time, and the host was very knowledgeable. We took a morning tour, which coincided with feeding time for the animals, making it fun to watch.

Hermit's Cave

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
A hiking trail with views leads to this shelter inhabited from the late 1920s to1952 by a recluse.
Fantastic historic site with fascinating stories. Could do with some TLC maintenance but is a beautiful and moving moderately difficult walk. Walking shoes recommended. Great at sunrise. Plenty of parking.
Graham R — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if rocks, caves and views are your thing! I enjoyed it because the paths are Not manicured- adds to the adventure. Medium fitness and sturdy shoes recommended. Enjoy.
Vanessa M — Google review
Easy free parking. Not disabled friendly. No toilets. You should be mildly fit as they are some stairs to climb, but you can take your time. Take a photo of the map on the sign because not much else is marked clearly on the trail except a few numbers, which I couldn't see correlated with anything on the sign. Some of the brush is growing over the pathway in areas. Seems this is a popular spot as there are countless tracks trekking through it all and sometimes you have to guess which pathway you should be taking. Little to no signage and what signs are there are faded or stripped, so it's a bit of a guessing game. But if you like a bit of free roaming and making it up along the way, this is for you. It's not too difficult and the views are really great. Take a camera, you'll want to share your photos of the experience later with family and friends.

Am amazing story of survival and making the most of a situation. Also a lovely walk worth views on Griffith
Linda W — Google review
I came here just for the cave and the view. I know nothing about the story before knowing this place. It’s a long way to be there. However, there is no enough sign. They should put more sign and explanation l, making the visit more worthy.
Wang S — Google review
Good scenic look out over the town. Interesting cave along a walking track. The track itself is moderately difficult with some steep rocky steps leading from the lookout to the caves. The caves themselves were the size if small rooms, but there is not much in there now.
Howard F — Google review
It is amazing to think of what he did, how he lived and to think he was interned during the war. The terracing is well worth a visit.

Had a short visit there, didn’t get much chance to explore all the caves but overall was nice and interesting. The view from the lookout was beautiful.

Exceptionally Helpful and Friendly Service! We had a wonderful experience at the local information hub during our visit. A lovely lady (Karen)working there went out of her way to help us plan our day in the city. She was incredibly knowledgeable about all the local attractions, restaurants options, and even recommended a few hidden gems that we wouldn’t have found on our own. She gave us maps, and suggestions for great places to eat nearby. Her friendly attitude and genuine willingness to help made us feel very welcome. It's clear she enjoys what she does and takes pride in assisting visitors. This kind of personalized service really makes a difference when you're new to a city. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in town — especially if you’re lucky enough to be helped by her!
Sha M — Google review
Don't go near this place! Griffith Council is running a racket where parking rangers linger nearby, and if you happen to drive across the large bus stop zone while entering Jondaryan Ave from the parking area, they photograph your car and fine you for allegedly "parking" at a bus stop. Easy revenue raising exercise, at the expense of visitors to Griffith.
Art O — Google review

Griffith Pioneer Park Museum

Local history museum
Museums
City history museum displaying historic buildings & machinery, plus wine & Italian exhibitions.
I've been to quite a few pioneer villages around Australia and this has to be one of the best. As usual its mostly looked after by loving volunteers but this one is superior with around 50 carefully reconstructed and fitted out buildings. Even has a train station. The staff are absolutly lovely and the museum sections are so informative. High calibre exhibits and very good and very interesting local history information. Our visit prompted us to emediatly find a local italian grocer to grab local authentic italian pasta and wine which we thouroughly enjoyed that evening :0)
Garry H — Google review
Amazing village put together for the public to see what life was like in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Plenty of old farm machinery, some stationary, and some in working condition. It's probably the best collection of stationary engines I've seen. If you're in the area on Easter Friday, there are kids' rides and food available on site.
Rhys M — Google review
The most well cared for historical collection, telling a story of the area and the first settlers into this farming district. Very clean, organised and methodically laid out.
J W — Google review
Run by wonderful volunteers, Wendy was super friendly and knowledgeable. Massive location with a fantastic museum collection of traditional buildings, machinery, and historical pieces resembling daily life in Griffith's early days of settlement. The village cat is a sweetheart. I love all the environmental work they've done, planting trees and gardens. Awesome birdlife. Great picnic areas. Toilets very clean and tidy. Heaps of shaded parking. Definitely worth a visit
Laura M — Google review
Free parking. Toilets. Disable friendly, though most pathways are dirt and small rocks and uneven ground. Safe and friendly for children with a small playground available. I went on a school week day, it was on the quiet side and gave me plenty of space to explore. The staff are friendly and you are given a map to navigate. Most if not all buildings are signed so you know what you are looking at. Be sure to schedule at least an hour, I took almost two, but I did go into every building and read, lots! There are videos, photos and displays in most of the buildings. Some buildings are air conditioned, but mostly all buildings and pathways are exposed to the temperature of the day you go. Wouldn't recommend going on a rainy day. Pack a lunch, sun block and take water off you really want to take your time and experience what this museum has to offer. I have not uploaded any photos, it's all things old, if you like that, then you'll like visiting here!
Sarah M — Google review
Great place for a day out. I highly recommend the train tour, which goes through a history of Griffith. The guide was very entertaining and informative. I recommend about 2 hours would be enough to thoroughly enjoy the museum. The Italian Museum within the museum is quite interesting as well.

I didn't even know this museum dedicated to our sheep shearing history existed, yet I am so glad a local recommended it. So much history regarding the shearing industry is presented in an entertaining and informative way. Dunera Museum at Hay Railway Station

Museum
History Museums
Important small museum about an interesting and a bit disturbing episode during the II World War when approximately 2000 Jewish men who had left Germany for obvious reasons were deported from Britain to a camp in Hay, Australia, in 1940. The reason was their German citizenship. Men were treated well but it still important to remember this place. The names of all men who were held here are shown on the screen.
Terhi T — Google review
The Station Building is beautiful and worth seeing. Doesn't seem like the building is open to the public to explore. Maybe on a weekend only? The museum located in 2 rail carts was not what we were expecting. The museum has an abundance of informative history to read, but minimal artefact displays. Most of the information is available online, which we had already read on the road. For a young family, I do not recommend. It was described as "boring." Although in-laws (60's) concur. If I was reviewing just the Station Building, it would get 5 stars itself.
J J — Google review
Hugely interesting display in two ex-NSWR railway carriages, all about the internees in and around the Hay district. Entry is by donation, and usually unattended. Unfortunately for the railway enthusiast there is little to see apart from the station itself (a magnificent example of John Whitton’s architectural style), plus three carriages (one derelict). The solitary water tank stands forlornly in the once busy yard. The privately owned station master’s house has been lovingly restored. It’s worth the visit.
Andrew R — Google review
This was very informative of the internees of World War 11 here in Hay. I did not realise they had them here in Australia. Well worth the visit. Yes, pity the Station wasn't open either.
Cherie C — Google review
🚂 A Journey Through Time in Hay This was my second visit to the Hay Railway Museum in a decade. A true slice of history, the museum showcases the rich heritage of Australia’s railway era. Best of all, it’s free to explore, making it a meaningful and accessible stop for history buffs and curious wanderers alike.
Meth H — Google review
Well displayed bit of history about the internment camp/s in Hay during WW2! A must see if coming to Hay. You'll need a good hour or more to read the stories and to see the history of what went on in these camps!! The train carriages are wheelchair accessible, the inside of the carriages are a bit tight but we managed to get my wife's wheelchair around!
Matt A — Google review
Fantastic, at $5 a head to go in and visit the museum on a self-guided tour, you can enjoy the history of the prisoner of war camps of Hay at your own pace. The train station and platform is a gorgeous architectural building and the tour will expand your knowledge on the POW process during WW2 and timeline of Hay. In the background you can see the show grounds which also played the part of the camps where POWS were housed . Its beautifully set up and the Dunera museum is just one of the many historic sites you can visit in Hay. It may be a small town and looks like a blink and miss it town, but this little town has a lot of hidden gems in it. visit the information centre and go on a journey into the past and present of Hay. The museum is accessible by wheelchair and wheelie walkers as there is a ramp onto the train carts. I don't recall seeing toilets on the premises.

Has a great tour to Mungo National Park with German yesterday with a lovely couple also from Queensland, we had a wonderful day, German is a fantastic guide and happy to share information and experiences along the way. Lunch was yum and loved dessert 🍨. Saw a variety of wildlife and gave way to several lizards crossing the road, Walls of China are amazing, will definitely be back to explore some more. Thanks German and yes I now proudly have a "I Brake for Wildlife" sticker on my van. 😊🐑🦜🦘

Our Tour guide stopped for all wildlife and we were able to see blue tongue, stumpy tail, eastern bearded dragons and lizards. We saw hawks and wedge tailed eagles, white fronted chats, major Mitchell cockatoos, a kingfisher, emus and kangaroos. We know how rare much of our wildlife is and we felt so lucky that our tour guide, Herman, has eagle eyes and a love of wildlife. And then we saw and explored the Wall of China. Brilliant tour.

Fantastic experience and top notch guide service from German. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. He kept us in the loop throughout the process as our tour was almost cancelled due to bad weather. We ended up going and was treated to the most beautiful view of Walls of China (German likes to call it his office :p). We are very happy with the whole experience and would highly recommend Outback Geo Adventures for anyone who would like to visit Mungo National Park, particularly the Walls of China.

Fabulous day out with German (pronounced Herman). He made a long drive short with regular stops to peel back the layers of the outback and show us the diversity in plant and animal life in Mungo National Park. Walking on the dunes was a special experience under the massive skies and continually changing cloud formations. Awesome! And lunch was good too.

Visitor Centers
The Mildura Visitor Information Centre serves as an excellent starting point for discovering the town and its attractions. Situated in the heart of the town, this center offers friendly and informative staff who are eager to assist visitors with a wealth of information, including historical insights and local tips. In addition to providing brochures and guidance, the center features a small shop offering unique gift items. Visitors can also seek recommendations on places to explore that may not be easily found online.
Just after breakfast on our first day of touring, we always visit the Mildura Information Centre. We have been to this terrific centre many times over the years and it ALWAYS delivers! The friendly staff go above and beyond to provide any information that you might be looking for. For example, I asked about the history of the world's longest bar (formerly at the Working Man's Club) and they found some information and photocopied it for me. On our most recent visit, we met some more wonderful staff - Carmel and Mel. They both assisted us with all of our enquiries :-) The displays here are well organised and spaced out so that you can walk around and appreciate Mildura and the surrounding regions focussing on key themes in a logical order. There are plenty of brochures about attractions, food and accommodation in Mildura and beyond. There are even brochures about other parts of Victoria and other states in Australia. It's also a terrific place to buy postcards and other souvenirs. If you are a new resident in the region, there's also loads of relevant information. There's a cafe next to the centre if you want to stay a bit longer and grab a bite to eat. There's even an area where friendly local donate books they don't want and you can pick up one or two for free. In short, this place has everything! We always enjoy stopping here and staying up-to-date with the latest information. Keep up the great work :-) Here are some photos from recent visits.

We happened to be coming through town while a festival was on in Wentworth and couldn't find any accommodation. The receptionist at the Mildura visitors centre was incredibly helpful and friendly. She looked around for us and even booked us a night at a local caravan park. She walked us through things to do in the area and was the reason we decided to stay an extra night in town when we originally only meant to pass through. The centre is also full of local handmade items and food. It was very interesting to look around and we bought some local jewellery before we left. It's not ofren you see such good visitors centres.

Extremely Disappointed – Appalling Customer Service We called Mildura Paddle Steamers in advance to inform them we had tested positive for COVID-19 and could not attend our booking. We did the right thing by notifying them early and avoiding the risk of exposing others. Despite this, they refused to refund us. Their complete lack of empathy and basic decency is disgraceful. Punishing customers for being responsible is not just bad business — it’s unethical. We will absolutely never be booking with them again and will be warning others to steer clear. We could’ve come and exposed everyone as they told us we could but we had the locals/ tourists interest in heart. Disgusted by this I also want to add, while we were communicating trying to have a humane conversation between the info centre and the paddle steamers both would say it was the others polices and procedures. If you’re going to run a business I suggest you know whose polices and procedures are what.
Ella R — Google review
My family and I made a booking online through the Mildura Tourist and information centre for a paddle steamer cruise with Mildura Paddle steamers. The booking was made 15 hours prior to departure. That night my family and I started to become very ill. We took a Covid test to find the 3 of us were Covid positive. As soon as the office opened at 9am I rang only to be told that as we hadn’t given 24 hours notice we will forfeit our $120 booking fee. I understand policy, however I don’t understand the complete lack of empathy and humanity in refunding our fees. What I do understand is that policy is a guide and that those in charge can make fair and reasonable judgement in regards to unique situations outside of an individuals control. We took a responsible action in not attending the cruise so as not to infect local community members and staff on the cruise. I do not see how our booking of 3 people only hours prior to departure have cost this local business in any way. The Mildura information centre promote ‘Expect Better’ very sad they can not live up to that mantra. We put the Mildura communities best interests first, very disappointed that the local tourism and local paddle steamer business can not acknowledge that through a fair and reasonable refund.
Jason R — Google review
Absolutely bad designed entrance for vans. We struggled to go through the corner entrance. Then went to park in 1 of the 3 long bays 2 taken by short vehicles. We had to move our van in town as if we stayed there the vehicle's in bays opposite didn't have room to back out without hitting our van. Whoever approved this parking had no idea of clearance needed for vans lengths . This is a not good enough for visitors to the information centre access to Mildura. Very disappointing. We did not go back to the information centre. Got our supplies and moved on.

Housed in the historic Chaffey family's old residence near the Murray River, it also serves as an art gallery and showcases the family's influence on Mildura's development. Fosseys distillery bar within the center provides a unique experience with its contemporary design and a variety of locally made gins.
A beautiful stately home in the heart of Mildura, next to the arts centre. A stunning home. Kept in original 1921 condition. On street parking. Disabled park near front door of gallery. Wheelchair access to ground floor only, but the gallery and theatre has lift access. Great coffee shop and public space to catch up with friends, and chat 5/5 stars

I recently attended the "Dylan Wright in Concert Fundraiser" at the Mildura Arts Centre on Saturday, July 5, 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience. The event, supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, showcased the remarkable talents of Dylan Wright, the 2024 Australian Idol winner, whose blend of soulful country and soft pop captivated the audience. Opening the evening was Hazel Symonds, a standout contestant from this year's Australian Idol, whose powerful voice set the stage with energy and emotion. The Mildura Arts Centre provided the perfect venue for this inspiring night of music.

This was such a wonderful museum. From walking up to the museum itself, it’s beautifully well kept flora and public displays of art. We were able to walk around for quite some time and the front desk receptionist were very helpful. The museum was broken up into the old house. And also the art section as well. Everything was very stunning and it was lovely to have seen all the aboriginal pieces.

Been here for a concert and a comedy show, you can buy limited drinks from the bar and take them to your seat, Amazing atmosphere and the sound quality is outstanding, ushers are beyond helpful and treat you respectfully. A beautiful historic place with many charms

Great place to visit. The Rio Vista house is a wonderful surprise and free to visit. The gallery at MAC offers free viewings of local artists as well. The only unfortunate thing is that you are not allowed to take photos there-hence the 4 ⭐️. A must visit for anyone and particularly those who enjoy history.
Tina C — Google review
A delightful art precinct, free entry with local artists and school art work on display. The magnificent home of the Chaffeys provided a wonderful insight into the establishment and hardships of a pioneering family who founded Mildura. The family history was touched by tragedy, but thankfully they survived. Well done to the Shire for maintaining history.

Rio Vista is an unexpected gem in Mildura that has a joint building with an exhibition and theatre. The old building showcases the furniture and way of living of that era. I specifically liked the wallpapers, it is rare to have wallpapers in any building in Australia. They have a coffee shop and I strongly recommend the freshly baked waffles with syrup and ice cream 🍦!

Lock 11

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Lock 11 Mildura Weir is a fascinating spot for curious children and engineering enthusiasts alike. Here, visitors can observe boats and paddlesteamers navigating through different sections of the Murray River, controlled by gates that manage water levels. A walk across a bridge leads to a manmade island where the roaring spillway can be witnessed from afar. The weir itself is an impressive feat of engineering, comprising 24 steel trestles that can be completely removed during floods.
Great watching paddle steamers go through the lock! Very interesting! Go across the lock onto Lock Island and walk around for lots of bird life.
Merril T — Google review
The lock let's boats through on the 1/2 hour so you can watch the operation without too much wait. The island has a good walk around to the weir and there is quite a lot of bird life to be seen.
Lyne F — Google review
This place is great to get out and walk around. Well signed posted walking trails with new paths. You could spend an afternoon or morning watching the boats go through the lock. Imformative signage present too allowing you to have a good idea about the whole Murry water scheme.

What a great experience with a steam powered paddle boat (the Melbourne) to boot. It is quite an old world feeling to firstly be lowered 3.5 metres to the actual river height then on return being raised back up 3.5 metres. This raising movement took all of 4 minutes and without the use of any pumps. Brilliant!
Alan S — Google review
Just a quick fish with the man at one of his secret/not so secret spots. Watch out for the logs. Nice place to have a go
Sandy — Google review
Cool experience. You can experience it on the river bank (free) or hop on a paddle steamer (AUD 45). Definitely a must do attraction in Mildura
Sau F — Google review
River cruise on P S Melbourne. A steam driven paddle steamer. The cruise was 2 hours long and included going through Lock 11 in both directions. Highly recommend.
Greg M — Google review
Well worth taking the walk or ride along the easy 5km river trail with its many interesting features. The lock is impressive, its size and the amount of water it holds back. The work that went into building this and the engineering behind it is impressive. Alongside the lock is a flood marker board, I was blown away with flood heights with 1870 being a big one. Having seen many locks in the UK I would have loved to watch a paddle boat go through this one.

Farms
Orange World is a must-visit attraction just eight minutes from Mildura, New South Wales. This 20-hectare working citrus farm offers three daily tours where visitors can hop on a tractor-drawn train and ride through the orange, mandarin, and avocado groves to learn about the local citrus industry. The farm is bustling during picking season and blooms beautifully around September. It's an ideal destination for families as kids can enjoy freshly squeezed juice while learning about farming practices.
What a surprise. Absolutely worth every moment. Mario and his offsider where amazing. Remarkable people, kind, funny, hard working and the tour is lot of fun. Free samples and the orange juice is out of this world! Never had better tasting oranges in my whole life. Mandarins as well. So packed with flavour, nice and sweet beyond words. Could not rate our visit any higher. We’ll worth dropping in.

Mario was very interactive with explaining & showing how citrus is processed from paddock to plate allowing children to take part In juicier bottling process, it was great!

Very engaging farm experience. The owner mario and maria are very sweet and funny. If you have kids, they will love Mario's jokes and riding his orange train around the farm.

A must visit when in Mildura. Go see Mario and get the grand tour. Be prepared for dad jokes. Lots of fun and informative tour and presentation. Great for all ages. Mario is legendary. Go grab some freshly prepared juice.
Kelly D — Google review
We had a great couple of hours here with a tractor ride through the groves and the guide gave us some history of the orchard and how the fruit is picked. We got to taste some oranges and picked up some orange blossom honey from the shop

Mario the owner is very friendly and knows a lot about fruit. The shop has food, drink and souveniers. Freshly squeezed orange juice upon arrival. Take the farm tour and get a book full of dad jokes from Mario. This was our second visit.

Darling and Murray River Junction and Viewing Tower is a fantastic spot for dog owners, offering stunning views of the Murray River and old paddle steamers. The area features a lookout tower, outdoor gym, children's play area, and nearby toilets. With plenty of grassland to explore and shaded areas from trees, it's an ideal place for leisurely walks.
The viewing platform is a great spot for photos at the Darling and Murray River Junction. The parklands contains substantial native vegetation that gives you an appreciation of the riparian landscape, flora and fauna. Well worth a visit.
Richard G — Google review
Great place to visit. Big grassed area that's perfect for a BBQ, a picnic...or to let the kids have a run around! The view across the river junction is fabulous from the tower.
Tony C — Google review
This is a special place where 2 mighty rivers come together. They say that after rain in the Darling catchment you can see the brown water mingling with the Murray River water. There is a high viewing tower to get a better view but this only has a steep spiral staircase as access.
Alan S — Google review
My husband climbed this but told me the view was not a lot better than on the ground. Beautiful park, well set up and great views of the junction. Plenty of parking, very clean and tidy. A credit to the council of Wentworth!!
Sue E — Google review
Stunning place to feel the majestic merger of the two historic river that formed the century of growth of Australia. If you are a wildlife lover, this place has great variety of bird life.
TJ C — Google review
Lovely place to visit, unfortunately we didn’t see enough due to bad weather
Martyn W — Google review
This was a great park to spend an hour with a coffee and great views. This junction (confluence) of 2 big rivers was great to see, a lot of water passes here and you can see why it would flood. Back 100 yeas there would have been paddle steamers galore going past this spot, it was Australias busiest inland port. So much history to be found in this little place.
Paul S — Google review
Nice park with facilities - parking, toilet, playground and lots of shade. Viewing platform about 3 stories high on circular stairs will give you view of converging Murray and Darling rivers different colours

Old Wentworth Gaol

Mentioned on

History Museums
The Old Wentworth Gaol offers a glimpse into the past, where 8 years in prison was the punishment for stealing a horse and just 1 year for getting drunk and punching someone. The visitor found it to be a good historical trip, despite initially thinking it was closed. The reasonable entry fee of $8 makes it worth the visit, with an hour being sufficient to explore the small but intriguing jail.
Very well preserved and presented. We arrived about 15 min before opening and the gentleman on duty was out the front, he opened up early and let us in. Very nice man, very informative. Takes about 30 min to walk through reading the important information, you could spend an hour reading everything. Well worth the visit.
Chris P — Google review
Was informative and interesting. Well maintained and a credit to Rotary and Wentworth. An interesting visit.
Carol N — Google review
We are really glad we went out of our way to visit Wentworth Gaol. It was great to walk through the grounds and experience what it would have been like. We were given advice on what to keep an eye out for on the way in which was helpful and the information around the cells and rooms was informative and not long winded. If you're passing through Mildura, go out of your way, it's not far and you won't be disappointed.
Russell P — Google review
Wonderful trip back in time! Great job preserving the Gaol and it's relics. Really enjoyed reading about the history and way people were incarnated way back in the day - vastly different experience today!
Michelle A — Google review

Perry Sandhills

Mentioned on

Deserts
Perry Sandhills, located just outside the town of Wentworth on the VIC-NSW border, is an amazing spot for families to explore sand dunes and enjoy a day out. Visitors recommend bringing smooth plastic toboggans or boogy boards for sliding down the dunes and suggest packing water to wash out sand from kids' eyes. The area offers a great view of the sunset from the sand hills and provides toilets and under cover shelter for resting in the shade.
Perry Sandhills was our must see destination because we had promised our kid a chance to run up and down sandhills. And it certainly delivered. Just 15 minutes outside Wentworth, the sandhills are the size of a small town, easy to walk around and discover most things, but it feels like another place altogether. The fine red sand and desert landscape make this a stunning place. A number of films have been shot here, and you can see why when you're there. But it also feels ancient and peaceful. I could imagine nomadic Aboriginal people stopping here, having fires, talking and resting for days before they returned home supplied with all the desert melons they could carry. We wandered the dunes, passing an exorbitant number of desert melons which had obviously been cultivated in the long past but now were an abundant treasure trove of bush tucker. Old trees littered the landscape, including one that looked like a whale. In the middle of the Sandhills, is the incredible "God Tree", a giant eucalyptus tree that is over 200 years old. The perfect place to sit under, eating melons and telling stories. This place feels like a Cathedral. The God Tree stands among the dunes offering shade and rest. I felt like I didn't want to leave when I was there, feeling connected to my own dreamtime. Our son experienced his dream of running up and down sandhills, and my partner joined him. I snapped them and wandered about looking for the small trails of the desert. This was living.
Beornn M — Google review
Loved visiting the god tree...definitely a must do. Whilst we went in the middle of the day...would recommend a sunset visit for better photo opportunities. In saying that there is plenty of photo opportunities at any time of the day
Paul — Google review
Great spot to visit, especially for kids. Huge sand dunes as far as you can see. Very peaceful and beautiful
Dwac — Google review
Easily accessible. Although the walk to ‘The God Tree’ involved a steep descent and a steep climb up to it, through soft sand
Colleen T — Google review
It was quiet, calm and peaceful watching sunset at sandhills. Remember your way back to car park by making a trail on the sand as you walk and bring a torchlight with you. 🙂
Yin L — Google review
It was raining on the day I was here but went for a look anyway, I would like to come check it out when it is dry. It is pretty cool how it has just kinda formed in the middle of nowhere. Worth a look for sure if you are in the area!
Warren M — Google review
Easy to find, to slide down the large hills you will need to walk further from the car park.
Andy M — Google review
We loved coming here. Unfortunately we didn't have anything to slide down as it was a last minute decision. We walked around and found a large piece of cardboard. The kids had a great time sliding down. Well worth a visit. Bring something like a boogie board etc or large firm cardboard to slide down.
