My Hometown – Jingzhou Ancient City One of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China! 🏯 Built in the Ming Dynasty (14th century), stretching 10.5 km with six gates. ✨ The East Gate – Binyang Tower is the most famous, known as “The First Tower of Jingzhou.” From the tower, you can overlook the ancient city and moat, and feel the grandeur of ancient defenses. 📍 A must-visit for history lovers, Three Kingdoms culture fans, and all visitors to Jingzhou.

The Jingzhou Museum is a remarkable historical museum situated in South China, which showcases relics dating back over 5000 years. It boasts of free entry and features a splendid garden for visitors to stroll through. Despite the advantage of free admission, local visitors may cause some noise within the premises. This museum is dedicated to displaying artifacts and objects that preserve the rich cultural heritage of State Chu, an ancient kingdom that existed for 800 years.
The Jingzhou Museum, located in Jingzhou, Hubei Province—my hometown—has a history of 2,500 years and is a comprehensive museum featuring the culture of the ancient State of Chu. We are the descendants of Chu, and the museum preserves treasures from the Warring States period such as bronze ware, lacquered woodware, silk, bamboo slips, and the famous Tiger Seat Drum with Dragon and Phoenix. Admission is free. Its most renowned exhibits include the Sword of King Goujian of Yue, ancient silk, and Chu bamboo slips—among which the restoration of both silk and bamboo slips ranks among the most advanced in China. I warmly welcome you to visit my hometown and explore the Jingzhou Museum.

Well. Jingzhou is my hometown. I really would be proud to introduce this place to everyone. It’s a small lively city with very long history. If you are interested in what happened 2000 years ago on this land. You should definitely go and check out. However, the city is also well known of its good food, good combination of trading frontage culture and historical stories. I would recommend a stay and just walk around this cute place. I love it, and hope you will love it, too.

(Translated by Google) Every time you go to a place, you must go to a local museum to learn about history, geography and culture. Although the Yichang Museum is not big, the cultural relics and planning inside are still good and worth a visit. I was surprised that the materials from the Republic of China period were so well preserved and displayed and organized in such an orderly manner. Seeing the statue of the Founding Father reminds me of the photos and scenes from childhood to the Grand Commandery. There is a brief introduction on the wall next to the on-site antiquities. Compared with many museums, this is a museum with relatively complete information display and thoughtfully conveying the significance of the cultural relics. The overall feeling is pretty good, the environment is clean and tidy, there are not many people, there are clean restrooms, there are volunteers patrolling the museum, and it is free to visit. It is recommended that friends who visit Yichang take a look at the Yichang Museum. Local people will also take their children to learn about their own culture and history. It is a cultural city. (Translated by Google) The ruins are located among fields, with green grass and storks flying around. It is a rare experience to be able to visit the city of our ancestors thousands of years ago in person, see the monuments from that time and place, and go back in history. However, it is not advisable to expect too much, otherwise you will inevitably feel regretful. One is to be big and small. It is said that the scenic spots are too scattered. It takes at least half an hour to walk from the gate to the exhibition hall and then to the ruins. In Shaodang, the density of exhibits is pitifully diluted relative to its distance. Second, the service is worrisome. I don’t know everything about the vehicle information. I don’t know anything about the layout of the showroom. In the end, I can’t explain it to you. You’ll know it once you go in and take a look. Although it adds a lot of suspense, it is still hardly a qualified experience. The third is to pull the flag. From the gate to the midpoint of the central axis of the exhibition hall, there is a huge stone engraved with the calligraphy of the late Chairman. I think he borrowed a lot of money for the project, so it should be listed as one of the virtues. The fourth is that the confusion cannot be solved. Why is it named the earliest city, how to define a city, how to prove it is the earliest, I still have doubts after traveling. Maybe it's not the attraction's fault, but Danny's lack of talent.

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

Mentioned on

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a breathtaking landmark known for its world-renowned glass bridge, offering stunning panoramic views. The bridge connects two hilltops with a thrilling glass-bottomed section, providing an exhilarating experience for visitors. While the bridge is a major draw, the canyon itself offers much more to explore, including vibrant blue rivers, unique wildlife, and traditional Chinese attractions like slides and boat rides. Visitors can also trek through the valley to witness magnificent rock formations and waterfalls.
I arrived thinking that my ticket to the national park would work here, but it's a separate ticket. I chose line b with the glass bridge. It's an impressive structure and quite cool walking over it. The sightseeing elevator was underwhelming after going down the Bailong elevator already. We did the 3.5km walk to the exit and it was stunning! Well worth it. There are various places to stop along the way to get food and drinks.

I’ve always been amazed by the universe, but this place made me realize: what mankind creates is one of the true values we bring to the world. Without this ability, we would never be able to explore such extraordinary places. This bridge is a testament to what human engineering can achieve — the longest and highest glass bridge in the world, spanning 266 meters. Standing on it, I felt as if man is the universe, and the world is but a blank page, waiting to be imagined and shaped. It’s an absolute must-visit. You could easily spend the entire day uncovering the hidden gems woven into this one-of-a-kind place.
Soraya T — Google review
Was a unique half day family experience for us. We have bought a combined ticket of the glass bridge and 5 attractions. Children and elderly received discounted ticket. You need to have passport to be able to buy a ticket. If you take a taxi, ask to bring you directly to the glass bridge entrance that is higher located than the main entrance. But you can reach the glass bridge from lower gate by using free shuttle bus. We initially intended to visit only the glass bridge, but we were very satisfied to have the combined one in the end. After glass bridge we visited Virtual reality view in baloon (you will receive hygienic one use towels on your face). Next we entered down and up the elevator. Third was zipline to.cross the canyon. Was actually very safe and pleasant also for our elderly group member. Please note that children under 30 kg weight are not enter the zip line! So please check in advance the restrictions for After we moved over to the other side by zipline, we tried the multi level slide. Before sliding, we got equiped with sliding trousers and hand gloves. Right after you can have rest in the near by buffet. Then we transerred on last attraction- the boat- to our final destination- walk in the Grand canyon. This was amazingly comfortable with beautiful views on the smaragd coloured green water. The walk is not difficult and has antislippery surface on most of the wooden bridge pathways. We had to wear raincoats on some parts of the walk due to rain. There is a colourfully lighted cave as well and toilettes. Overall was a very pleasant family experience. On day of our visit the place was not crowded and it took as 4 to 5 hours to enjoy everything without time pressure.Recommend to inquire in your hotel to help you to purchase the tickets. Please note that the Grand canyon is located around 30 min by car from the Zhangjiajie national forrest park and you need to buy a separate entrance ticket.
Ivana D — Google review
The glass bridge maybe the postcard of this attraction, but the gorge and canyon itself is breathtaking. A blending of man made outdoor activities with stunning natural gorge surrounding, make it even more exciting to visit. The park layout design is interesting, visitors enter at the highest point of the canyon, then hiking or a combination of hiking and joining rides on a one way path towards the park exit. For those seeking adrenaline rush, bungee jumping, zip lining over a deep and vast canyon and sliding are fun activities and act as means of transportation (taking you to next location on the one way route). For those who prefer a less heart beating activity, can choose to pay for a fast elevator down or to hike several hundred meters down an almost vertical trail. Once you are at the bottom of the canyon, there is a wonderful 3 kilometers trail zipping along the stream that leads you to the boat pier. There is an outdoor cafe, partially under rock wall by where you can have coffee and relax. There is a small "bandit" cave with colorful lighting on the trail. The final section is a 10 minute boat cruise on the serene lake. The park is some 30 minutes away from Wulingyan Zhangjiajie national park. It's worth adding half a day or another full day in the itinerary.

When staying in Zhangjiajie make sure to visit the Grand Canyon and Glass Bridge! The facilities are good (toiletry, lunch areas, tourist shops) and plenty of vending machines available for cold refreshments. Highly recommend the Glass Bridge, Slide and boat trip as well as walking whole Route B.

The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a large outdoor activity area where the main feature is the world's longest glass suspension bridge that spans across the grand canyon giving tourists a thrilling crossing over the canyon where you can see all the way to the bottom. Aside from this, there are also zip lines, outdoor elevators as well as narrow cliff side walkways and bungee jumping for the thrill seeking adventurers.
Richard F — Google review
Do take the boat ride & walk out the Canyon after the bridge, the best part of the trip for me was the walk along the river out & not the bridge. There is a nice cafe in the middle of the trail out. An awesome place to have a cuppa.

Yellow Dragon Cave Kindergarten is a must-visit attraction in Zhangjiajie, China. It boasts gigantic halls and spectacular pathways that leave a lasting impression on visitors. A boat ride along the river adds to the experience. However, there are some concerns about artificial enhancements to the stalagmites and the overwhelming presence of guided tour groups creating a noisy atmosphere. The cave's brightly colored lighting may also give off a Disneyland-like vibe, but it remains an impressive and beautiful underground marvel worth exploring.
Largest underground cave I ever visited my problem with this review is which photos and pictures should I select to put along with this post . It took us 20 min from our hotel to reach to cave area , then very long walk to main entrance of the cave many stories been told by our guide like the 2 doors they believe one for happiness and one for long life , then short boat ride go and back about 10 min, amazing views , huge cave , they put lighting make cave more lively and beautiful should visit is you are in Zhangjiajie .

Physically challenging, and I won't recommend to anyone with bad knees, unfit or elderly persons. Visited this Yellow Dragon Cave (Huanglongdong) on Monday, 11 March 2024, as the original optional tour "Fairy Fox Show" was cancelled (under renovations). Only a short boat ride (less than 10 mins) inside the cave, but there's a long treacherous walk up and down the narrow, steep, wet, slippery steps uphill and downhill... There's a total of 4 stages of physically demanding walking after the boat ride. Stage 3 is the resting point and short cut to the cave exit. But even that, it's still a long 20-30 mins walk from Stage 3 to the exit. Kindly take note that the "rude" young lady cave Guide will not allow anyone to turn back and drop out, and will try to coax everyone to complete this long physically challenging cave walk.
Wilson C — Google review
One of the world largest stalactites and stalagmites formation in the world inside this cave. It was a large cave and lots of steps like more than 500 steps required to walk thru out with combination of walking and boat ride. Not so special as the lighting rather too much and colorful. Cost RMB 100 per person to enter and do remind yourself it is warm inside the cave especially when you come in winter that you wear lots of winter clothing. Walk for 2.5 hours with guided tour over 4.5km distance can be a challenge for many. Some of the stalactites and stalagmites was huge and there over million of years.. you can skip if you don’t have time to visit as there are many similar one in the world!

Huanglongdong or Yellow Dragon Cave is a last minute replacement Option to our original Fairy Fox Show (ongoing renovations) under our Zhangjiajie Tour package. I don't recommend this option tour for elderly persons, unfit or anyone with weak knees. There's a long hike thru steep, narrow, and wet stairs (numerous up and down stairs) after the short boat ride. There's NO TURNING BACK. Go at your own risk.

Yellow Dragon Cave is the most beautiful and biggest cave in Zhangjiajie. China likes to put too many lights and colors in a cave, which ruining the natural beauty.

Nestled within the Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, Baofeng Lake, also known as Baofeng Hu, offers stunning water scenery just 3.5 km from the Wulingyuan Sign Gate of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. This tranquil attraction provides a perfect opportunity to unwind amidst nature after a day of hiking in the area. The lake is renowned for its turquoise waters set against picturesque karst landscapes.
I got the coach here as part of my group tour. We went on the boat on the lake which was amazing. The views were breathtaking as it is surrounded by mountains. There were people on the lake who would sing or interact with this which made the experience more interactive. If you're visiting Zhangjiajie, I highly recommend coming to the lake. If you go in the morning there will be less queues for the boats. It is also worth walking around the entrance that leads up to the lake. There you will find a small performance, Monkey King statue, people dresses in traditional Xi'an clothing and a giant salamander enclosure.
Beatriz F — Google review
Scenery is good, for 20 minutes boat ride. We don’t need to queue. There are locals sings while you passed the area. Lake is very clean, deep turquoise color like glass. There is Sun Wu Kong statue near the waterfall and salamander park. It’s cool but I think Tianmen Mountain is more worthy to visit 😉
Viorentina Z — Google review
Sweet little stopover on the way to Zhangjiajie. We were lucky to go on off-peak season, so we didn't have to queue for the shuttle bus up to the lake. The boat trip lasts around half an hour and you drift by beautiful mountain scenes and they have a couple of indigenous boats that have singers serenade you with local songs as you float by. There are also some resident comorants perched up with a fisherman. There is lovely waterfall down the bottom and a pond with salamanders (admittedly it would be nicer to see them in a more suitable enclosure, as they are a lot larger than I imagined!!) It would have been nice to spend more time in the area to appreciate any hikes.
Georgie B — Google review
Really, skip this if you must. Not worth the entrance fee. They do not offer concessional tkts to foreign seniors - a real scam as in general Chinese attractions do not discriminate as such. Even the signboards do not state as such. Short cruise, long queues, smallish lake, sceneries not particularly impressive.
Yeo's S — Google review
If it's compared to the great Tianmen and Tianzi Mountain, Baofeng lake is just ok. The trip was short and there's waterfall nearby, the shooting location from Journey to the West film. If you have tight schedule, you can skip it
Cherryberry — Google review
Do something else. The waterfall, the lake, the everything is made up. The boat ride is 20 mins with 30 seconds of someone singing -which you can barely hear. The staff is nice, but they can only do so much on a lake from a dam. Save your money, just go back to Zangjiajia or Tianmen. Literally anything else in the area is a good us eof your long trip to get here.
Mini R — Google review
Honestly, quite disappointing. The whole thing felt really fake - the actual lake is artificial so it just looks like an unatural flooded valley - becasue it is (and probably caused a ton of environmental damage). And then you go round on the boat past some people in costumes singing, which I know is symbolic and traditional but the way you just go past looking at them feels really inauthentic, like you're on a theme park ride. It was pretty I guess. I went in mid March and all the walking paths were closed, so literally the only thing you can do is go on a 5 minute bus, 20 minute boat and then bus back. There's a waterfall section with museum too but that's so small it can be seen in way less than 30 mins. So for ¥95 (for entry plus boat) it was not good value, felt like an inauthentic theme park and just boring. Wish I'd gone back into Zhangjiajie National Park instead.

Beautiful, scenic and picturesque lake in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie. If you go on a misty day, you can enjoy a Chinese landscape painting coming to life with the ethereal and mythical aura enclosing the locale. This is an artificial fresh-water reservoir created by blocking gorge and building dam in the 1970s

Huangshizhai, also known as the Yellow Village, is a misty viewpoint offering stunning vistas of unique stone hills. Accessible by hiking trails or a cable car, it's recommended to follow the Golden Whip Stream trail to reach this picturesque spot. The trail is shaded and serene, with opportunities to encounter adorable monkeys along the way. However, visitors are advised not to feed them and keep snacks concealed in their bags.
Top of mountain climb. We went by stairs 2 hours climb because of cable car maintenance. Highly recommend taking stairs as lots of monkey and landmarks along the way. On top and halfway, aid station / cold drink shop and toilet are available.

The scenery is nice. If you come here in summer, expect 30° to 40° Celsius and take water with you. Entering took a troublesome, lengthy time and there are quite a lot of people. If you like to look at nature, I do recommend it.

This village is up in the mountain and took around 2 hours to walk up the stairs. Decided to take the cableway to the mountain. The scenery is nice, with many nice view at every location. Many retail shops closed, only 2 or 3 shops were operating when I was there in Jun. The villagers may have been relocated. Some path were closed for renovation.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, a part of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, is a must-visit destination in China. The park is famous for its pillar-like rock formations, including the iconic 150-meter Southern Sky Column, also known as "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain" due to its appearance in the film "Avatar." Visitors can experience thrilling cable car rides and ride the world's tallest outdoor elevator, Bailong Elevator.
The national forest park is very nice it is unique in its kind. I really recommend it if you want to see nice nature. But before going there you should plan your itinerary to save time and see most of the park. I recommend taking the cable car if you only take one day to visit the park, but all tickets are for 4 days. You have buses inside that bring you everywhere but you can also walk. The negative part is that all the Paths are delimited which means you can’t really explore new places or get lost in the park.

A stunning and unique park, now a popular tourist destination for those traveling to China. Everything is very clean and organized, and you'll find yourself immersed in nature, enjoying breathtaking views. Take the elevator up to the top of the sandstone peaks and enjoy the view. You have to be lucky and find a sunny day.
Edoardo C — Google review
Zhangjiajie National Forest park 张家界国家森林公园 is where Mother Nature built skyscrapers before humans even figured out bricks. Recognized as the first national forest park in China (1982) and part of the larger 武陵源 UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992, it’s officially rated a 5A tourist attraction, which in China means expect world-class views and equally world-class crowds. Even in off season it feels like half the country decided to go hiking with you. Main areas to explore before your legs give up: • 金鞭溪 Golden Whip Stream – a tranquil valley walk with towering cliffs, crystal-clear water, and monkeys plotting to steal your snacks. • 袁家界 Yuanjiajie – home of the iconic Avatar Hallelujah Mountain where sandstone pillars levitate in misty glory. • 杨家界 Yangjiajie – dramatic cliffs and quieter trails, great for pretending you discovered Zhangjiajie before everyone else. • 黄石寨 Huangshizhai – panoramic viewpoints so good that locals say “if you don’t climb Huangshizhai, you haven’t truly seen Zhangjiajie.” • 十里画廊 Ten Mile Gallery – stone peaks arranged like a giant natural scroll painting. Spoiler: it feels shorter than ten miles. • 张家界大峡谷 Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon – home to dizzying cliffs, waterfalls, and the record-breaking Glass Bridge, which is basically a test of whether you trust both physics and your legs. Pro tip If you don’t like spending more time in queues than on trails, get the VIP ticket. It skips the lines for elevators, cable cars, and shuttle buses.. saving up to an hour per attraction. Worth it when you realize standing in a queue here is the only view not worth photographing. Five stars because 张家界国家森林公园 is essentially nature’s IMAX in 4D.. mist, monkeys, and mild vertigo included, plus tourists everywhere waving selfie sticks like bamboo spears trying to capture the same mountain from 37 slightly different angles.

Truly a wonderful park, Avatar has chosen well its filming location . I have never seen such kind of mountains anywhere in the West. It is well organized despite the crowd w a lot of food and drink places along the way, shuttle buses to take you from one to the next place on a constant schedule. It is super clean, the paths unlike national parks in the west are all paved and with steps. You won’t find a gravel road to walk on. Do spend 2 days exploring it. 1 day, enter from the East Gate and head to the direction of the world’s highest outdoor elevator, visit clockwise, don’t forget to visit Terrace in the sky which costs extra. Walk all the way down, there is a drone photographer who can have a fantastic drone film 98 cny made for you without the crowd anywhere else you encounter in the park. The 2nd day do Huangshizai enter from the South Gate take the cable up walk clockwise. After you come down, I would definitely walk all 7km along the creek and exit from the east gate. Along the creek you will have the park almost to yourself as not many tourists do the long walk and you will encounter the snow monkey cousins. We went very early the 1st day to avoid the crowd, but the fog hasn’t cleared up. I would probably enter around 9:30-10 if it is a good day because by then the fogs would be gone. You have to decide whether you want the long wait or the fog. Have fun.

14-18/10/2025 Zhangjiajie Trip We set off from Hong Kong by high-speed rail. this journey was having to book high-speed rail tickets 14 days in advance on 12306 The weather didn’t cooperate—it was either rainy or overcast for all five days. For the first two days, we stayed at the Ji Hotel全季酒店 near 東門Dongmen, just a 3-minute walk from the Dongmen Gate. Through the hotel, we booked the main entrance tickets and a combo ticket for the three cable cars and one elevator (¥191 for seniors over 65 and ¥480 for one adult, plus Tianmen Mountain Route A tickets for ¥116 + ¥268). Since we entered at 7:30 a.m., there weren’t many people. We took the eco-friendly bus to the Bailong Elevator, and just as I arrived, the queue was cut off right in front of me, allowing me to be the first to enter the elevator. The weather wasn’t great, so we just wandered around casually. On the second day, we entered through the south gate and took the cable car up to 黃石寨Huangshi Village to see the peaks. Perhaps it was still early, but the mist hadn’t cleared yet, and a light drizzle was falling. We couldn’t see any peaks clearly, so we had no choice but to head back down and look for the "Monkey King." Unfortunately, even the monkeys weren’t out. Luckily, we spotted three of them just as we were about to give up. We then took a taxi to the Tianmen Mountain Hotel, dropped off our luggage, and went to explore the 72奇楼.

Planned our visit for late October and opted for the fast-track option, which we definitely appreciated when we zoomed past 10 minute queues which gave us more time exploring the landmarks. The ride up on the cable car is exhilarating and truly milestone memorable!! We made our way down by the touristy spots, which were busy, but if you were willing to walk 10 minutes away, you were rewarded with the most magnificent views of Mother Nature's rock skyscrapers and the mist drifting amidst the tree-lined stacks! The elevator down definitely tested my vertigo-nerves, but is a feat of engineering that can't be missed. We finished off our visit at the beautiful river and little 6km train ride where we were entertained by the resident monkeys and their thieving mischief.

OMG if you haven’t yet been to Zhangjiajie Forest, put it on your radar. From the top of the mountains is the most spectacular view. Incredible scenery from every viewpoint. Quite a bit of walking involved but totally worth it. Try and get a drone video done as the result is a top quality video with amazing scenery.

This is an amazing place to visit. Well worth the effort to get there. It is busy if you just go where the buses take you. But you can avoid the crowds by walking. For example, when following Golden Whip stream you will hardly see any other people.
