Nice evening vibs ! Inside the temple, there are lot of painting on the outer walls. There is a nice carving in wooden and in stone & is AMAZING to visit in the evening because there is a Puja Aarti and drum sounds all around the temple. It is very big area, which is having outer border four doors out of which one is always closed and there is entry from three other doors.

Temple surrounding is huge... It's an ancient temple and our regular summer visit while on vacation here. There's paid parking lot which also has washrooms and clean-up room. Nearby guest house is there. Near Temple there's place to keep ur footwear There's one way around the temple. Weekends are crowded .. to avoid heat better make it early mornings

Cheeyappara Waterfalls is a stunning sight right along the Kochi–Munnar highway — you can’t miss it. The cascading water over the rocks looks beautiful, especially during or just after the monsoon. It’s a great roadside stop to take photos, enjoy some fresh air, and grab tea or snacks from the small stalls nearby. Parking can get busy on weekends, but the view is absolutely worth the quick break. A perfect start to your Munnar trip!

This waterfall falls on the way to Munnar from Kochi airport. Since we visited during May when it started raining we happen to catch a glimpse of this waterfall enroute. Not a great fan of crowded place but only the waterfall was good. Since it was afternoon when we visited this place, there were a lot of visitors around which made it very unpleasant experience for us. We just halted for 5 mins , clicked few pictures and we left the premises as soon as we can. Tip: try to visit this waterfall early morning so that the place is crowdless and the experience is great. I wouldn't recommend anyone to spend and time here.

Recently visited Munnar and Cheeyappara Waterfalls did not disappoint! 🌊 Stunning waterfall, lush green surroundings, and a peaceful atmosphere - perfect for a relaxing day out. The cascading water and scenic views are a treat for nature lovers. Highly recommended!

Cheeyappara Waterfalls, located along NH 85 (Kochi–Madurai Highway) near Chillithodu, is one of the most beautiful roadside waterfalls in Kerala. The best part is that you don’t need to take a long trek to enjoy it—the falls are clearly visible right from the highway, making it a perfect stop for travelers heading towards Munnar. From Kochi, it takes about 2–3 hours by road (around 48 km before Munnar), and from Munnar town, it’s just a 40–minute drive. Public buses and cabs regularly pass this route, so reaching here is very easy. The waterfall cascades down several rocky steps, creating a refreshing and picturesque view, especially during the monsoon season when it flows in full glory. Entry is completely free for everyone, and there are small shops nearby for tea, snacks, and souvenirs. A wonderful roadside attraction, Cheeyappara Waterfalls is definitely worth a visit on your Munnar trip!

We just made it in time for the Kathakali show here, and I’m so glad we didn’t miss it. The makeup starts at 4:30 PM, and they do it right on stage so the audience can see the whole transformation — honestly, that itself felt like part of the show. The theatre is calm and welcoming, with devotional music and even a nice fragrance around, which made the experience feel special. Before the main performance, they explained the grammar of Kathakali — the expressions, eye movements, and hand gestures — and it was absolutely fascinating. The actual play started at 6 PM, and I was blown away — the makeup, the live instruments, the narration-singing, everything came together beautifully. You can really feel the love for culture in every detail. They also have a small shop at the back with souvenirs like oils, magnets, and antiques. Overall, it’s one of those experiences that stays with you — I’d definitely watch it again.

Fantastic experience at the Kathakali Centre. The staff are caring and committed to preserving the deep artistic heritage of Kerala, showcasing the various traditional artisans with respect and love. You see a small glimpse of performances, guaranteed to inspire you to seek out the full day long performances in the future. We watched an hour long Kathakali show, and a short demonstation of Kalari as well, both were fascinating in their own ways. I wish the centre a lot of success!! Please do visit and support the arts and culture of Kerala!

After 6 month wait, finally we could make it last week. We witnessed the Kathakali performance (including makeup) and Kalaripayatu(martial arts). Excellent performance by the artists in both shows. Good seating arrangements, light and sound. Ease of contacting and booking, courteous hosting and punctuality. Please make it day wise schedule because we wanted to watch classical dance as well but it was on a different day.

Its a must watch experience!!!! If you go early you can get a good spot near the stage where the artist do an interactive performance! All their efforts are so worth every penny. Absolutely loved it💚

Would surely recommend the Kathakali show. It takes us closer to our culture. The effort it takes to get ready for the show and the show itself is memorable. We should encourage these theatre forms for our future generations. My entire family enjoyed the ambirnce and the performance.

It is a Must visit place in Kochi. A unique and good experience along the side of the coast. The fisherman will do a lot of fishing on the sea shore. The mechanism is quite simple yet thoughtful. A few places give a demonstration about how it's done, we got a chance to see the entire mechanism because we had joined a bigger group. Lots of variety of fishes are available of various sizes. You can also purchase along the side and get it cooked in your stay if they allow.

Great place for viewing Arabian sea. You can watch the ships entering and leaving channel. Lot of food joints in around the Bay. Fresh seafood restaurants are there

If you are looking for a sunset backed pic of the Chinese fishing nets, try to reach before 6pm (check local timing for sunset). We unfortunately reached just after sunset but luckily still got some okay pics. There are many shops where you can check out fresh catch and ask for it to be prepared right in front of you. I am sure it will be pricey but should be okay for a one time experience. There is a sunset view point a little ahead of the Chinese fishing nets which you should visit. The ferry is awesome from Marine Drive (High Court Junction) which costs just 40 bucks. AC ferry which is very well maintained

The scenes there was wonderful. There was so much crowd that time. We can buy the tickets and have to walk somtime to reach the top of the waterfalls. There are shops at the top. You can have tea or icecreams. Then on the right side there is a way to the view from the bottom of waterfalls. The way is somewhat adventurous. It will be difficult for people with joint issues. You have to walk down the road. The way to top is wheelchair accessible.

Well worth the detour to spend a couple of hours here!! There is a small fee one must pay to visit the falls. There is parking by the side of the road, but spotty cell signal.

With water thundering down from a height of about 80 feet, the falls create a magnificent spectacle that no traveller should miss. A visit here is highly recommended for anyone wishing to experience Kerala’s raw and enchanting beauty.

One among the finest beaches nearby Kochi (Cochin). The sandy beach and great sunset views would give you memorable moments. There are foods and souvenirs available here but there is a good scope for improvement.

"Clean, Calm, and Perfect for a Relaxing Getaway!" Cherai Beach is one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches near Kochi. With golden sands, gentle waves, and a clean shoreline, it's perfect for a relaxing day out.

What didn’t work well: Parking charged at around ₹30/hour without designated slots or secure fencing. I had to park in mud and struggled to exit—a guard set the fee, but no proper system or shelter. The beach area is tight and congested, especially during evenings. Space to walk, sit, or play is limited. The shoreline has noticeably narrowed—sea erosion seems to have taken over the sand, reducing usable area. Waste and debris are common, especially after high tides. There’s no visible cleaning schedule or waste management system. Few signboards or markers to guide visitors on safe zones, entry points, or amenities. Numerous resorts and restaurants line the edge, but prices are high, making the experience feel more commercial than relaxing. Safety feels uneven—lifeguards are present only at the main beach, leaving parts of the shore less monitored. The narrow access roads are often crowded or uneven, making approach and exit difficult. Positive aspects to highlight: The location is scenic—where backwaters meet the sea; gentle tides often make it suitable for dolphin spotting. Early mornings and off-peak hours offer calm, peaceful views and a quieter stretch to enjoy. A few local vendors sell light bites such as fried banana or chilli—simple and tasty. Suggestions for improvement: Create organized, secure parking with shade or paved surfaces—and consider validating or waiving fees for visitors. Increase frequency of beach cleaning crews and establish designated waste bins to manage both tidal and on-site debris. Install clear signage and maps to guide visitors to access points, seating areas, restrooms, safety zones, and lifeguard-watched areas. Expand the beach footprint or undertake erosion control measures to restore walking and leisure space. Offer affordable lounge spaces or shaded seating for families and groups, separate from high-cost resorts. Consider extending lifeguard coverage to broader areas or offering beach safety warnings during peak hours. The multi-layered roofs, stunning woodwork, and surrounding courtyards are beautifully maintained, giving the entire place a remarkably clean, serene, and deeply divine feel. You can pay respects to a collection of deities here, including Lord Shiva, Ganesha, Muruga, and more, all within one sacred space. Essential Visitor Information- Dress Code: Be aware of the strict dress code for men: they must remove their shirts and enter with their torsos bare above the waist. Worship Time: Due to the large number of devotees, your time in front of the main deity is very brief—you typically get only 30–45 seconds to see and pray to the divine lord. Closing Hours: The temple is extremely punctual with its closing schedule. It shuts down exactly at 11:30 AM on weekends/special days and 11:00 AM on normal weekdays. Plan your visit accordingly to ensure you don't miss the morning darshan. A Tip for Tourists Be mindful of the lottery sellers operating just outside the temple gates. They can be quite persistent in trying to lure tourists into buying tickets. It’s best to politely decline and keep moving. Overall, this is a beautiful and spiritual experience! Parking can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but the overall experience more than makes up for it. In short Sree Vadakkumnathan Temple isn’t just a religious site and it’s a place where spirituality, history, and Keralas cultural essence meet beautifully. Finally I would say that it's a Must visit for anyone who wants to feel the soul of Thrissur and Kerala’s heritage.

Most famous temple in thrissur where thrissur pooram is celebrated. We visited there in the evening after 5pm (suggesting you the same). No dress code like traditional dress like mundu and saree in this temple. But men has to remove their shirts while visiting the main deity. After coming out we sat near the temple and watched sunset.

Guruvayur Temple, one of the most revered shrines of Lord Krishna, immediately came to mind. The temple was just 95 kilometers away from Cochin, a drive of about 2 hours and 40 minutes through the heart of Kerala’s lush landscapes and vibrant villages. The thought of leaving behind the busy city streets of Cochin and immersing ourselves in the serene, devotional atmosphere of Guruvayur felt like the perfect way to celebrate the successful near-completion of our project. More than a break, it was a pilgrimage—an opportunity to seek divine blessings for the journey completed, and for the many yet to come.

The ancient Mammiyur Temple is situated at a walkable distance of 200 metres North West to the famous Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple. The main diety is Lord Shiva in the form of Uma maheswara. Story behind Mammiyur which is interesting. The legendary history extends to the consecration of the famous Sree Guruvayur Temple - It was the final phase of Dwaparayuga. The great Deluge has submerged Sree Krishna's abode Dwaraka and the Lord, as a playful child, was frolicking on a banyan leaf tossed about by the surging waters. Devaguru Brihaspathi and wind god Vayu stumble upon him where upon the Lord himself handed over to them the idol of the Supreme Lord that he has been worshipping at Dwaraka, with instructions to have it installed and consecrated at an appropriate spot on earth. Guru and Vayu then descended on the banks of a sprawing lake Rudratheertha rendered holy by Lord Shiva who has been doing penance there for ages. Realizing the purpose of the visit Lord Shiva suggested the consecration there itself on the bank of Rudratheertha and obligingly moved over to a near by location on the other side of the Rudhra theertha. The place where Guru and Vayu consecrated the idol of Lord Krishna became GURUVAYOOR and the site that Lord Shiva chose for himself and his consort Sree Parvathy became Mahimayur, mahima evolving out of the status bestowed on Lord Shiva for voluntarily relinquishing his initial abode to accommodate Lord Krishna. Mammiyoor Temple is a peaceful and divine place located close to Guruvayur Temple. The temple has a calm and positive atmosphere, perfect for a quiet spiritual visit. Currently, some renovation and maintenance works are going on, but darshan is still smooth and well managed. The temple premises are clean, and the staff and devotees maintain good discipline. It’s believed that a visit to Guruvayur Temple is complete only after visiting Mammiyoor, so this is definitely a must-visit for devotees.

The complex consists of both Shiva and Maha Vishnu sannidhis side by side with common entrance. Dwarapalakas are on both sides of the entrance to the sanctum sanctorum. Balipeedam and Rishabam are in front of Shiva’s sannidhi and only balipeedam infront of Maha Vishnu sannidhis. In praharan Ganapati, Murugan and Ayyappan. The parivara deities’ sannidhis are in construction. ARCHITECTURE Both Shiva and Vishnu Temples are constructed in the same line facing east. A Rishabam and balipeedam are infront of the temple. Both temples are on adhistanam and temple was built like house with mangalore tiles roop. Thease two temples are again under a shed with metal truss.

Temple is under construction and we went by 11.05 AM but the sannadhi was closed but in internet it was mentioned as 12.30 PM. Very old architecture was missed out but the place has its own power and divinity.

It is a unique sanctuary and a major tourist attraction, housing and training the elephants that belong to the Guruvayur Devaswom (temple administration) for participation in temple rituals and festivals. Punnathur Kotta (Largest Elephant Sanctuary) is one of the largest elephant camps of its kind, home to approximately 50 to 60 captive elephants at any given time.he site was originally the palace grounds of a local ruler, the Punnathur Raja, before being acquired by the Guruvayur Devaswom in 1975. The sanctuary provides the elephants with food, shelter, veterinary care, and training from mahouts (trainers). Visitors can often see the elephants bathing, eating, or being trained, particularly in the morning. The general visiting hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Punnathurkotta Elephant Camp – Devotion or Silent Suffering? Visited the Guruvayur Devasthanam Elephant Camp (Kottara) at Punnathurkotta, home to 36 elephants, of which only 3 are female. A stark and disturbing reality: almost every elephant is chained on two or three legs, with only a rare few chained on a single leg. The mood is unmistakably heavy — none of the elephants seem at peace. Their eyes reflect stress, loneliness, and captivity. One particularly sensitive elephant is kept away in a secluded inner enclosure, possibly due to trauma or temperament. A board reads “Livestock Office” — reducing these revered beings to mere inventory. It’s heartbreaking to witness such cruelty masked as tradition, especially when elephants are considered sacred in our culture. Where is the compassion in our devotion? If worship doesn’t include empathy for the beings we use in rituals, is it truly divine?

'Punnathur Kotta' is managed by 'The Guruvayoor Devaswom Board'. It's a sanctuary for elephants. Very great care of elephants is taken by management. Here elephants are being trained for temple processions and festivals. It's a must visit place. Jackfruit lovers, don't miss to taste 'Jackfruit Icecream' sold at a shop near main entrance.

The walkway is clean, and you can also enjoy a calm evening stroll with friends or family. A must-visit place if you’re in Calicut! ❤️

Kozhikode Beach is truly a wonderful place to visit, offering a vibrant atmosphere and plenty of food stalls serving a variety of delicious local dishes. The views are beautiful, and the lively surroundings make it a great spot for families, friends, and tourists. However, the cleanliness of the surrounding areas could be improved. Some shops tend to dispose of waste water and garbage carelessly, which affects the overall experience. Additionally, toilet facilities are quite limited, especially considering the large number of visitors the beach attracts. Overall, Kozhikode Beach is a great destination with amazing food options, but better waste management and improved sanitation facilities would make it even more enjoyable.

Our visit was on a rainy and windy afternoon so we could not spend much time. However we have been to the beach at different times and spend time. We enjoy the gigantic waves and the cool breeze. It is a beautiful beach and keep it clean as some areas were not. Sunsets and sunrise are amazing 🤩

In the evening, it gets quite crowded, but the lively atmosphere adds to the charm. The beach is moderately maintained and suitable for everyone — families, friends, or solo visitors. Loved the newly installed shops, which are clean and hygienic. A great spot to enjoy the sea breeze and local vibes! 🌊✨

I visited Kozhikode Beach early in the morning around 6 a.m. The place was full of life...many people were out for exercise, walking, sitting, and relaxing. Near the park area, some were practicing martial arts, others were playing football, and quite a few were just enjoying watching the activities. The atmosphere is vibrant and it’s a good spot to spend time. However, the beach is not at all hygienic. It is quite polluted, lacks proper walking paths, and is poorly maintained. With better cleanliness and care, Kozhikode Beach could truly become an excellent attraction for locals and visitors alike.

It is one among the most beautiful, peaceful, and cleanest beaches in Kerala, while you are in the city you must visit the beach in the evening, you can enjoy a wide variety of Kozhikode's flavour and enjoy the waves. It is maintained well by the corporation and vibe at the beach is mesmerising. Also the local food available in the small shops around the beach is also flavourful.

Beautiful place to visit. Waterfall is active throughout the year. However, the flow reduces during March-May. If you are going with elderly people ensure that they can go and return around 2 k.m. Don't carry plastic bottles and food items. You can park your vehicles at the top. They will allow only 500 persons per day. So you can consider to stay nearby areas to cover many other locations around the waterfall. Only upi/ digital transactions are allowed for buying tickets.

I visited this water falls which is like 1km trek to the fall. It is under government and they charge 150 per person. Please mind taking student tickets which is only 50 rs. This trek is somewhat difficult. You should take about 2 hours. It not that worth visiting but if you feel to trek you must visit. Paid parking and local shops available also you have options of some activities near by.

Soochipara Waterfalls in Wayanad is a scenic spot surrounded by lush greenery. The short trek to the falls is a bit challenging but totally worth it. The waterfall is stunning, perfect for nature lovers. Clean, well-maintained, and refreshing experience. Enjoyed the falls. But the tickets are pricey.

We recommend buying tickets online or arriving early. The ticket price is ₹150 per person, and entry is not permitted without a ticket. The waterfalls are open all 365 days, but during the rainy season, only viewing is allowed—entering the waterfalls is not permitted.

Soochipara Waterfalls is soo good with wonderful water flow from the top of hill. Negative part is trekking, to reach this waterfalls we have to walk nearly 1 Kilometre additionally large large steps 🪜 to be used. After reaching Waterfalls it is worthy.

We visited this waterfall based on the suggestion and google review, but this place is a big NO!!! The start entry point is like the tip of the mountain and the waterfall is like at the base of mountain that much walking is to be done, there is lots of walking with slope and climb through the stones path and followed by big steps at the end which is difficult to go on, it cost Rs.150/- pp which is too much for the waterfall, if you are not in mood of walk and trek, this place is to be avoided! The gate closes around 5pm, all the guards are vanished at 5pm, there is no one around if you need any help if you go for the waterfall post 4pm, it took half hour for us to go to the waterfall and return half hour, 1 hour in total which is ascend and descend, as we spent only 5mins near the waterfall, as it was raining muddy water was falling and it was brown color. Do think twice before going for this waterfall, if you are up for a trek with proper shoes and mindset then its good!!

Decent spot in Wayanad with nice views from the lake. They have pedal boats, but cycling them is quite tiring and not very smooth. The place is okay, not the best. But still a relaxing break if you're nearby and want to enjoy some quiet time.

Went here without much expectations and there is nothing either, it's just a walk around the lake and if you are interested in some boating you can go here. Also we went during rainy season, there were lot of leeches every one has seen the blood.

Pookode Lake is a calm and refreshing spot. I visited today and loved how peaceful the whole place felt. The walkway around the lake is scenic, the water is clear, and the surrounding greenery makes it perfect for slowing down and just enjoying the moment. It’s a great place to sit by the lake, relax, and take in the view. There are a few activities like boating and small shops around, but the best part for me was simply the quiet atmosphere. Even with people around, it still feels serene. The place is clean and well maintained too. If you are in Wayanad and want some fresh air and a peaceful break, this is an easy recommendation.

Pookode Lake offers a serene and amazing experience. The pedal boat ride was good and lasted 20 minutes. The place is exceptionally clean, with good service, though the prices are a bit high. It is a fantastic and calm spot to visit.

A beautiful, picturesque lake that's a perfect spot for families with children. Just be aware that it gets extremely crowded on holidays and weekends, which means a very long wait for boating. We'd highly recommend visiting on a weekday to enjoy it peacefully.

Paying money fornthe park is a waste of since 80% of things in park is broken/not working. But we cannot do peddle boating or kayaking wothout paying to enter to the park which is waste of money. But peddle boating was worth of additional money spent. Great view.

This temple is built in the traditional architectural style of Kerala. The temple surrounded by an open courtyard. The temple opening timings in Thirunelli are from 5:30 AM to 12 PM and 5.30 AM to 8 PM. We recently visited the Tirunelli Temple as a family, and it was a peaceful and memorable experience. The drive to the temple is beautiful, with well-maintained roads that pass through scenic forest areas — a treat for nature lovers. Though the temple is currently undergoing renovation, it doesn’t affect the visit or rituals. The surroundings remain calm and spiritual, and we had no trouble accessing the main temple. Overall, it's a serene place worth visiting, both for its spiritual significance and the scenic journey to get there.

Roads are good from kerala, please avoid HD kote manandavadi road via nagarhole if you are travelling from Mysore.Roads are horrible inside the tiger reserve, instead take the gonikoppa kutta tholpetty route to reach thirunelly.

Thirunelli Temple is located about 50 km from Wayanad, near the Kerala-Karnataka border. Nestled in a valley surrounded by lush forests, it has the majestic Brahmagiri Hills as its backdrop. A road trip to the temple through the hilly landscape can be truly exhilarating. Pilgrims visit Thirunelli Temple mainly to perform ancestral rites known as Bali Tharpanam. It is believed that performing these rituals here helps liberate the soul of the deceased from the earthly realm. Ample parking is available for visitors, although the temple is currently under renovation.

What a lovely beach, never seen a beach with cars drive in, pleasant feel. The sunset was stunning, whole beach is extremely clean and neat, not even seen a singer plastic. The sand is soo is haard, you feet won't go inside it. Amazing experience, definitely love to visit again.

Kannur’s signature Drive-in Beach truly lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful seaside experiences in Kerala. Though it was under maintenance during our visit, we could still appreciate the charm and thoughtful design of the place. The beachside infrastructure is excellent with long well-paved walkways, kids’ play areas, and elegant lamp posts that add a unique character to the stretch. The walls adorned with paintings of local folklore give the place a cultural touch and make evening walks even more enjoyable. We were lucky to witness a magical moment when the bright sunny sky suddenly turned dark and cloudy, rain pouring over the sea ahead of us before sweeping toward the shore. We ran laughing for cover under one of the play area canopies, making it a memory to cherish. Ample parking space and neat surroundings make it even more convenient for families. A must-visit spot when in Kannur.

Yeah... A place to be for the people who love to be close to the sea.. hera the sound of waves and also love their car/bike as much. It's kinda a dream for a rider/driver to ride along the beach /on the beach and most of the places one can't take that chance.. This is probably the only place in country to have safe 'drive in beach'. You can drive/ride any of your vehicle safely and enjoy the feeling. The place is not very crowded also at least on weekdays.

It is famed for being a drive-in beach, meaning you can drive vehicles (cars, bikes) right along the sandy shore. The stretch is about 3.8 to 4 km long (some sources say up to 4 km) where the sand is firm enough to support driving. The beach is protected by black rocks which help break stronger waves, making the nearshore area safer for swimming. There is a small island called Dharmadam Island about 100–200 m south of the beach. During low tide, one may walk from the beach to the island. It has also been recognized in media: in 2016, BBC Autos listed it among the “best beaches for driving.

See the pics and videos 😎 It’s great to drive along the sandy shore touching the waves from the car, it’s a 4 KM stretch shore, don’t go too much inside 😀 The sand is relatively hard/compact which helps prevent the tyres from sinking and makes driving possible comfortably There are black rocks on the beach and inside sea which act natural barriers to strong waves so bathing/swimming is possible in the beach. They are picturesque to the photos too🤩 The shore line offers beautiful sunset views, not sure of the sunrise views. Dharmadam island is visible from offshore, during low tide one can walk to it from the nearby beach (not from here) Seasonal - water sports, catamaran rides, parasailing etc and Beach festival in April The beach is clean, well-maintained, and gives a very refreshing vibe. The entry fee is just ₹40 (for car) which is worth for the experience. There are few food cart vendors for snacks and drinks, which is handy.😛 Only downside is the drive to reach through Muzhappilangad Beach Rd for a KM with narrow roads and a railway crossing. Try the Edakkad beach road. 😟 Overall, it’s a must-visit place in Kerala —unique, relaxing, and memorable!👍

I visited St. Angelo Fort in Kannur last week with my friend. The view from the fort was amazing — you can see the sea and the surrounding areas very clearly. It’s a peaceful place with a lot of history. I also learned that many movies have been shot here, which makes it even more interesting. Definitely a great spot to visit if you want to enjoy nature and explore some historical architecture!

St. Angelo fort is located right at the edge of the shore and the place gives a resemblance of mini town. It was vast and had monuments preserved. The place had a beautiful view from a cliff like view point where you could see a beautiful sunset. It is one of the places you should visit while you are at Kannur. I recommend to check this place to experience some of our history.

St. Angelo Fort, located in Kannur, is one of the most prominent forts in northern Kerala with immense historical significance. Built in 1505 by the Portuguese, the fort has witnessed centuries of colonial history, changing hands between the Portuguese, Dutch, and British. Its location along the Arabian Sea provides a stunning view, making it a must-visit spot for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. From a visitor’s perspective, the fort offers some good facilities. There is a wheelchair-accessible parking area, and the parking fee is ₹30. The entry fee is quite reasonable at ₹25, making it affordable for most travelers. However, the maintenance of the site leaves much to be desired. Vegetation overgrowth is visible in many parts of the fort, which takes away from its charm and makes walking around less pleasant. The Archaeological Department seems to be giving minimal attention to upkeep, which is disappointing considering the historical importance of this monument. With better care, proper cleaning, and controlled landscaping, the fort could be preserved more effectively and provide a richer experience for visitors. Overall, St. Angelo Fort is an important heritage site with great potential, but it currently suffers from low maintenance. Worth visiting for its history and scenic views, but visitors may feel that the site deserves far more care than it presently receives

An incredible fort, St. Angelo, whose history dates back 500 years. It's a nice experience to explore this historical structure. There are many scenic points and viewpoints of the Arabian Sea, and nice photos can be taken. The fort was built on a rock that is separated from the mainland. It is surrounded by water and has only one entrance. Plan a relaxed 2-hour visit to the fort. Carry an umbrella for comfort. Snack and drink stalls are available inside. The fort was built by the Portuguese for trade. Later, it came under the Dutch and then the British. Now it is under the maintenance of the Archaeological Survey of India.

This is a must visit place if you're in Kannur and specially if you're one who loves witnessing historical place or sunset views. The place is nice for group outing and one can get lot ofo actions to click pictures. An important udate: The location where Google maps takes you is slightly incorrect. This area being partially occupied by defence establishment, some roads are closed for general public and you have to go slightly ahead of the location mapped on Google.

The Fort is worth the visit but felt really bad looking at the condition of such historic momument of 16th Century. Though the fort is maintained by Archeological Survey of India, still water seepage is all over the Fort. Request authority to take some more care to prevent the natural erosion. Also Food should not be allowed inside. Strict rules for public need to be brought in.

Neatly maintained by the ASI, Fort St. Angelo is situated in a cantonment area facing the Arabian sea. Lot of parking. Tickets can be purchased on-site both in online and offline mode. Lot of shades to simply sit and spend time.

Very bad .. no proper way or family friendly way to get to the waterfall.. if you cannot do trekking for more than 3 kms , then it is of no use.. better not visit this place .. very dangerous for family members

Chelvara Waterfall is absolutely stunning! 🌊✨ The view is amazing, surrounded by lush greenery that makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers. The sound of the water and the peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Coorg. Must-visit if you’re in the area! 🌿

This waterfall can be considered more of an optional stop during your Coorg trip, as you can’t actually reach the bottom for a close-up view. The location is a bit far and there aren’t many other attractions nearby, but if you have extra time, it’s still worth a visit. You’ll need to climb a little to reach the side viewpoint, but the scenery from there makes the effort worthwhile and offers a refreshing experience amidst nature.

The drive to the falls is quite good, through the hills and coffee plantation. The falls is visible from the road itself. There's a short hike (200m) from the road, through a small part. Beware of leeches though. The road goes towards a peak and viewpoint from here. That was totally worth it btw.

Chelavara waterfalls is a nice waterfall in Coorg near Kabbe Betta. There is a small parking space (for 2-3 cars) here. Waterfall can be accessed by a small 5 minute hike. Bicolored frogs can be spotted here. Area can be bit dirty especially during rainy season, recommend good shoes while visiting the falls. Not recommended to enter the waterfalls even though it doesn't look dangerous, it seems many have lost lives here.

Such an awesome , ancient temple to Sri Subramanya . The architectural speciality is its Gajaprishtakara vimana ( shaped like elephant back) and the very lovely wooden bracket sculptures . In the evening , when they light the oil lamps , it is a truly divine atmosphere . The temple pond is a picturesque place , with a very ancient tree nearby . Devotees can feed puffed rice to the fish in the pond .

Bekal Fort is a must-visit gem in Kasargod! The old colonial-style fort is beautifully constructed, and walking through its massive walls gives a glimpse of history and architecture that has stood strong for centuries. The fort itself is well maintained and offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. Right next to it is Bekal Beach, which is clean, lively, and very happening. There are plenty of small stores and eateries around, making it a perfect spot to relax after exploring the fort. The sunset view from both the fort and the beach is simply spectacular. A perfect blend of history and natural beauty — highly recommended for anyone visiting North Kerala!

Bekal Fort is one of Kerala’s most impressive and beautifully maintained historical landmarks by ASI. 👍 Got famous after a Movie song in film (Bombay) 🎥 The entry / parking can be better managed, had to wait on the road for 20-25 minutes inching from main road to parking lot. Parking charge is Rs.40 Entry Tickets to be bought at the counter opposite to the main entry to port (Rs.25) Spread over 40 acres, it’s the largest fort in Kerala, built in the 17th century by Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty. Later, it came under the control of Tipu Sultan and the British — each era leaving its mark on the fort’s architecture and story. Prepare for long walks and inclined climbs in watch towers. Scenic views of the sea and nearby beaches and town views, worth it. There are stone benches to sit / relax. Could see drinking water taps at few places. There are couple of small shops selling ice cream, juices and water, packed chips, etc. Best part is on the west side sea viewing point (going down stairs) and watching sunset. There are places to sit and also go up to the final watch tower where the waves hit against. Around 5:45-6 the guards keep whistling to get the people out 😀 There are small sandy beach areas besides the port but access is restricted, though could see few people. Sea is rough so not recommended to venture. Overall a great place to spend few hours and take pictures 👍

Incredible fort. The entry fee is Rs. 25. This fort offers breathtaking scenic views. We arrived early in the morning, and the central area was peaceful. Upon reaching the viewpoint overlooking the beach, the sight was stunning, and the gentle sea breeze was calm and soothing. Overall, it is a lovely place to relax and enjoy.

Visited Bekal Fort recently — it’s a beautiful historic place with a stunning sea view. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for an evening visit. The fort area is well maintained, though it can get quite hot during the day, so sunset time is best. Nearby, there’s an ANERT EV charging station, which was very convenient for charging my electric car. Food options are limited (mostly ice cream and water), but overall it’s a must-visit place in Kasaragod! 🌊🏰⚡

A tranquil temple slightly away from Kasargod town. As we step into the temple premises there is an instant calm that settles in you. A beautiful experience. Do not miss the sannidhis near the dining hall. I have heard that the annadaanam here is very good.

A must visit temple. It's near Kumbala in Kasaragod dist. About six km from Kumbala railway station. You will get Autos from station for about Rs. 130-140. The temple closes after "Ucha pooja" at 12:30pm and after that there is Anna prasadam, very delicious veg lunch. There is guest house also. Those who want to stay can book by calling to the temple office.

This is a unique Hindu temple in Ananthapura, only temple built in the middle of a lake in Kerala. 👍 The main sanctum is surrounded by a rectangular lake, access to the sanctum is via a footbridge on the eastern side. The temple welcomes all visitors regardless of faith who are respectful and mindful of the sacredness of the place. Dress code - Men need to remove the shirts / T-shirts before entering sanctum area (you can remove and keep them with you). Women are expected to wear Saree, salwar Kamez, or long skirts. Avoid sleeves tops, short dresses or tight western wear. Puja tokens are issued near the entrance counter The lake seems to have a Vegetarian Crocodile 😀 we couldn’t see though. Footwear must be left outside the temple like any other temple. (No shoe racks) Photography inside sanctum not allowed. There’s enough parking space for two and four wheelers outside. Few shops in parking area to buy any puja items.

This cave is still visible near the lake, and the sage's subsequent journey led him to Thiruvananthapuram, where the massive Padmanabhaswamy Temple was eventually established. The Lake and Its Divine Guardian The most famous and unique feature of the temple is the natural lake and its resident 'divine' crocodile, Babiya. Legend holds that Babiya is the guardian of the temple and is a strict vegetarian. While we visited the temple, the famous crocodile, sadly, remained elusive. We could not find the crocodile on this visit, but the large pond did host several fishes, which were cool to watch as they darted through the water. The Ambience: A Cool Midday Retreat We visited the temple around 12:00 PM in the afternoon, which might typically be the hottest time of the day. Surprisingly, the atmosphere was exceptionally calm and refreshing. The traditional architecture, the lush surroundings, and the cooling effect of the water all contributed to a wonderful, cool vibe. It was a serene and welcoming experience, making the midday journey completely worthwhile. Accessibility and Tips The temple is located approximately 14-16 km from Kasaragod town. It is easily reachable by road. Timing: Check timings before visiting, as like many temples, it closes for Ucha Pooja (midday worship). Visiting around 12:00 PM might mean you arrive just before the closing.

Dharmasthala temple is a unique in temple architecture, unlike other temples have big gopurams, here the temple architecture looks like a home. - The temple is very spacious to accommodate thousands of devotees. - The premises surrounding the Dharmasthala town is like a forest and bit of uphill. - The main deity is Lord Manjunatheswara - Also, deities you can see Dharma Devas and Ammanavaru - Only traditional dress is allowed for Darsan, Male – without banyan and shirt, Jeans allowed. Female – Saree or Panjabi dress. Children – No western wear. - After Darsan, you can visit the Anna Prasada Hall and have temple food here. - Overall Darsan may take anytime between 30 mins to 2 hours, depending on the day and time you visit the temple. - If you have the time, visit the Netravati river and perform river bath before having the Lord Manjunatheswara Darsan. The lot of parking space is available near temple if you come in your own vehicle. Outside the temple you can find lot of shops and hotels if you need to shopping at roadside and have food. If you have the please do visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple which is about 1.30 hours away from Dharmasthala temple, and in general whoever visits the Dharmasthala temple, they also visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple.

I recently visited Dharmasthala, and it was a peaceful and divine experience. The temple is well-organized, clean, and beautifully maintained. The atmosphere around the temple is very positive, and the architecture adds to the spiritual feel of the place. The free Anna Prasada (meals) is served with a lot of care, and the food is simple, tasty, and satisfying. Parking and facilities are well arranged, and the entire area feels safe and visitor-friendly. Overall, a must-visit temple for anyone traveling around the region. Note :- Avoid weekends

- This devine place is believed to be well known since ages and powerfull too - This temple has a historical story behind it. - Temple darshana timings are as follows: - 6.30 am to 2pm - 5pm to 8.30pm - Annaprasadam timings are as follows: 11am to 3.30pm and 7pm to 10pm - Temple will be usually crowded with devotees, now the temple Authorities have made a good arrangements for the devotees to be seated, so as we move forward in line, we will reach a place where all the people are made to be seated in a room and batch wise they will let them in. - The waiting room is so good, its air contioned room, have a seating arrangements for everyone, there is sepeartwe washroom for ladies and gents. There is drinking water facilities too and stores which sell eatables. Room is also equipped with TV. - Darshanna was quite good compared to before days. - Parking facilities are available - The Annaprasadam dinning hall also is so good and systematically arranged, one should not miss it.

Difficult to find rooms but the cost is affordable to all. Long wait for darshan. Recently they made resting areas during the queue like tirupati. Clean floors. Better to visit in the early morning to avoid rush. We entered at 6.30 am and came out at 7.30 am.

Dharmastala temple and the city visiting is truly spiritual. Location and the nature of the temple is Incredibly amazing. Despite having huge numbers of devotees visiting this place still being organized so beautifully, everything looks great, pleasant and peaceful !! I love visiting this place all the time. One of the best beaches in Mangalore, it is always under the supervision of life guards. Ample parking space available, the beach has street food stalls and also a beach resort and bar Overall loved the place

Panambur Beach — a really nice beach, though it gets quite crowded in the evenings. The best time to visit is early in the morning to truly enjoy the vibe. When we went, it started raining, and the dramatic visuals of nature were both stunning and a bit scary to witness.

Located some 12 km from the city centre, situated quite inside from the main road, this beach doesn’t come close to the fame it has. It’s a dirty, badly maintained and just one-time visit type of beach. Quite spacious and good scope to develop it as a model- sea beach, Government apathy and lackadaisical attitude towards any tourism places not just beaches have made such a wonderful location in a just one cheap and third grade beach. I don’t recommend. But yes, it does have some extra activities to for enjoyment.

A little crowded, some water activities and beach side activities for both children and adults are available. Plenty of street food options are available. Overall nice place to spend some time with family.

It's a Haven of Butterflies Visited Beluvai Butterfly Meet 2024 (Batch 8): This place is a paradise for nature lovers. We spotted 90 butterfly species in 3 days. The garden's night walk was thrilling, revealing many nocturnal creatures. We savored delicious Mangalorean meals throughout our stay. Excursions to nearby forests allowed us to observe butterflies in their natural habitats. Kudos to Sammilan's team for their excellent organization. Don't miss to buy the beautiful butterfly lapel pins as a souvenir.

Aimed at spreading awareness about butterflies, this Butterfly Park is a must visit. The owner is extremely patient and explains both via a presentation and in-person the lifecycle of a butterfly, the speciality of each type of butterfly. The park showcases a diverse variety of butterflies and plants. It's educational and highly interesting.

I have been visiting this place since 2021, it's been getting more and more awesome, a 3 day session is must visit to see more butterfly activities be it in summer or monsoon, if you go for one day visit you may not be able to see much activity and a butterfly life documentary will be screened at the park. Do try to attend both monsoon and summer meets to see more number of butterflies, also the park is not just for butterflies, you will also find other creatures as well, if you are a macro photographer then you will get one or the other to photograph like moths, snakes, frogs scorpions, spiders and nany more.
