The Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku is a modern and spacious cultural complex that includes an auditorium, art gallery, and museum dedicated to the country's former president. Designed by the late Dame Zaha Hadid, this architectural marvel features soaring white curves and a timber-lined concert hall. Despite its controversial political associations, it has garnered international acclaim for its design and won the Design of the Year award in 2014.
One of the most beautiful designs and interesting, varied and so unusual art exhibitions I have been too. It's definitely worth a visit... (The ticket office and entrance is still a bit confusing - maybe temporary?)
Vincent O — Google review
The building is one of a kind and can not be missed visiting when you are in Baku. The entry ticket is 15 mannat and I would suggest skip buying the car museum ticket of 10 mannat. Inside its more of a Art and architecture museum which might be loved by artistic tourist but not to attractive for a common tourist. Its a symbolic place in baku and you should not miss it.
Mehul M — Google review
The Haider Aliyev Center is a beautiful museum — truly a masterpiece of modern architecture. Inside, it’s full of fascinating art and crafts ranging from historical artifacts to contemporary works. If you’re an art lover, this place is a must-visit. There are separate sections dedicated to different art forms, and in Basement 3, you’ll find a collection of vintage cars that’s absolutely stunning. Each car is a piece of history, and you’ll love exploring them. Overall, it’s a perfect blend of culture, creativity, and elegance — a place where every corner has something to admire.
Jawad F — Google review
A carefully designed center that displays different styles of art. You can wander around for about two hours. It seems like a whole. This was my first visit to this place and I felt amazingly impressed. I highly recommend to everyone who comes to visit Baku. This puts their credit in visiting this wonderful place.
Mina M — Google review
This place needs a deep review and I dont think any review will do justice to the place for inside and outside desires. The outside designs flows as it its going with the inside theme so we'll that you get amazed. Must visit . The centre of dedicated to the amazing leader Mr Heydar Ali who played a crucial goal in the countries making. The architect did even justice to bring back the history in systematic flow , late Ms Zah Hadid made , designed this marvel. When you walk to the stairs you will feel a sense of flow that you can not comprehend . The shiny floors give an illusions of another dimension
Dr K — Google review
Beautiful building and interesting display of elements with cultural and historical significance. It’s a huge building and if you are with kids or seniors you may need the full day. The only criticism is that the building and surrounding is bot very accessible with people with mobility issues like seniors or families with strollers. For example the building entrance has very steep ramps for visitors on feet. Or stairs are very large but elevator are tiny.
Moh R — Google review
Was super interesting! Saw expositions of miniatures, dolls, carpets and retro automobiles. Architecture of the building is blow minded! Unfortunately in cafe the was no food, only drinks.
Marina I — Google review
A very well designed center. The exhibitions are in different styles and can attract everyone's attention in terms of variety of subjects. The musical instruments section really caught my attention, it was the best area I've seen. You can tour for almost 4 hours. The classic car exhibition is very nice, the only problem is that the -3 floor is too hot. The museum has lockers. There is a suitable place for bags and suitcases.

Baku Boulevard

Dənizkənarı Milli Park, also known as The Boulevard, is a historic promenade along the Caspian Sea in Baku. It dates back over 100 years and was once home to the mansions of oil barons. Today, it offers a variety of recreational activities such as open-air and 5D cinemas, a 197-foot Ferris wheel, museums, restaurants, shopping areas, and more.
Baku Boulevard is truly one of the gems of the city — a perfect destination for families looking to unwind, have fun, and enjoy the fresh sea breeze. The area is exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained, with wide walkways and plenty of green space that make it a pleasure to stroll around. Whether you’re out for a relaxing walk or looking for something more active, I highly recommend renting a bike – it’s a fun and scenic way to explore the whole boulevard. And don’t miss out on the ice cream stands along the way – a sweet treat to top off the experience! Overall, it’s a peaceful and refreshing spot that combines nature, leisure, and family-friendly vibes. A must-visit when in Baku!
Mufeed W — Google review
Baku Boulevard is a beautiful stretch along the Caspian — clean, spacious, and full of life. By day you can explore spots like Little Venice and enjoy the modern architecture, while at night the views and lights are amazing with people relaxing, eating, and music in the air. It’s very well kept (even the subways under the highway are spotless). Just a tip — watch out for a guy underground with a weight machine who can be pushy. On the boulevard itself, there are fun things like live chess matches and even quirky shops, I loved the designer cotton candy stand.
Lianna F — Google review
The Baku Boulevard area offers a captivating blend of modernity and cultural heritage. Strolling along the waterfront, you can admire the stunning views of the Caspian Sea. The area is home to beautifully designed parks, inviting spaces for relaxation and leisure. The presence of modern architectural marvels enhances the boulevard's unique charm. It is a great place to spend quality time.

Well its located in baku around 750 meters from old city, good walk away for friends and families, kids play area as well and you can have several options for outdoor snacks and some cafe restaurants also available. Good atmosphere and not crowded in early evening time. Bus stops also near by.
Farri S — Google review
Baku Boulevard is one of those rare places that blends peaceful seaside charm with modern energy. Stretching along the Caspian Sea, this promenade serves as Baku’s heartbeat, a place both locals and visitors flock to day and night. Green, welcoming vibe: The boulevards, gardens, fountains, and tree-lined paths offer a lush escape right in the city center . Iconic attractions: The Ferris Wheel (Baku Eye) offers a breathtaking view over the bay and city skyline . The Carpet Museum’s architecture, designed to look like a rolled-up rug is simply stunning . Little Venice is charming and romantic, especially if you take a ride in a gondola. The boulevard hosts concerts, outdoor events, street performances, art installations, you’ll feel the city’s creative pulse . Perfect for everyone: Whether you’re into jogging, cycling, people-watching, or just lounging on a bench with a coffee, there’s something here for every pace. Lots of cafés, outdoor restaurants, and shops line the promenade great for relaxing while you take in the views. Evening walks are magical—lights reflecting on the water, the Ferris wheel glowing, a gentle sea breeze. Definitely a mood-lifter. All in all, Baku Boulevard feels both timeless and alive, a perfect place for a stroll, a moment of calm, or just soaking up the soul of the city.

From the 12th-century walls surrounding the UNESCO World Heritage site to Soviet-era buildings and modern skyscrapers like the iconic Flame Towers, it showcases a range of influences. A historical walk in the old city speaks volumes of its past. An educational fun experience.
Sarita V — Google review
Place is superb, deserves 5 star, but the people here are rude, cheaters and emotionless. Your experience will start right from the taxi driver, who will never intend to return the change money. No public washroom, paid washrooms cost double as soon they see foreigners. Overhyped country of rude people, smoking day and night with loud music on car.
Ayush K — Google review
This station will help you reach both city centre and beautiful old city. Once in a year you may see old trains exhibition inside.
Azim H — Google review
Four vending machines were unable to issue the temporary card, only the 2 manat permanent card. No credit card accepted which was a hassle for tourist who spends a brief time in Baku.
Muhamad K — Google review
I was amazed and astonished by the architecture and structural of this metro station... replica of Louvre Museum in Paris. For 1st timer, Baku Card or BakiKart is worth 5AZN then you can load for 2AZN and you can keep it as a souvenir. Per ride is 0.30AZN... Love the escalator part, very long and narrow which I felt I am falling and take more or less 5 mins. There is an English signages aside from local signages. Btw, taking pictures is prohibited esp in the flatform area.

Only 2 manat for Baku card. I think 0.3 per journey. Nice station with the lovely old city in the background and a doner place outside.

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape is an archaeological site in Azerbaijan, featuring natural and manmade caves with over 6,000 ancient rock engravings. The area also boasts the world's largest mud volcanoes. The well-preserved petroglyphs depict scenes of hunting, fishing, military campaigns, and everyday life dating back to 8-10 thousand years BC. Visitors can explore the park with a guide to learn about the history behind these carvings and their significance.
Amazing historic place telling the story of famous rock petroglyphs and mud volcanoes. One of oldest settlements The area has been settled since the 8th millennium BC. It is known for hosting thousands of rock engravings depicting hunting scenes, people, ships, constellations and animals. Its oldest petroglyphs date from the 38th millennium BC. World heritage by Unescu. WOW
Adel A — Google review
This is a fascinating open-air site just outside Baku. The ancient rock carvings scattered across the stones make you feel like you’re walking through history. What’s even more interesting is that this whole area was once under the Caspian Sea — you can still spot coral-like dents and the raw exposed sea bed stretching out in front of you. The landscape itself is striking, with its flat, square-topped hills as a backdrop. Add in the sweeping views of the Caspian, and it’s not just historic but also a beautiful spot for some amazing pictures.
Lianna F — Google review
Another UNESCO World heritage site. Exploring Gobustan was a journey into the soul of humanity. Amidst the semi-desert, over 6,000 ancient petroglyphs etched into the rocks tell stories of lives lived thousands of years ago. As I traced the intricate carvings depicting hunters, dancers, and celestial symbols , I was struck by the remarkable talent of these early artists. Without formal education, they captured their world with such precision and emotion. Standing there, surrounded by these timeless expressions, I felt a deep connection to our shared human heritage. A truly humbling experience.
Joyce D — Google review
It was ok but felt very touristy and a long journey from Baku with not much to see. It's interesting and amazing historically, and good that they charge to help protect the site. Surrounded by lots of drivers trying to tell you it's not safe and they will hassle you as you drive there, just don't stop and say no. Carry on the smooth tarmac all the way to the parking and don't fall for their lies. The majority doing tickets was very friendly and helpful
Jayni S — Google review
Wonderful experience, really gives you a sense of the place and history behind the land , it's still so well preserved that walking through those rocks take you thousands of year back in history. Must experience You need tickets acquired from your museum tour down the road - so definitely keep those handy, don't throw them away

Winter palace- House of Sheki Khan's

Architectural Buildings
Winter Palace - House of Sheki Khan's is a historic gem nestled in the foothills of the Caucasus mountains. It served as the summer residence for the powerful rulers of Sheki Khanat from 1743 to 1819. The palace showcases a blend of international influences, with Iranian mirror work, Russian wood, Ottoman ceramics, and French stained glass.
A beautiful jewel of a Palace, in a pleasant garden. Inside, whilst the star of the show is the intricate Shebeke glasswork of the windows, the wall paintings (particularly the dadoes in the 'Parliament' and 'Men's Room') with their respective collections of birds and battle and hunting scenes are worth quiet contemplation. Then look upward to the geometric ceiling of the 'Parliament', and the huge ceiling in the 'Men's Room' which is just like a Persian Carpet. No photos are allowed indoors. So drink the magnificence with your eyes! Outside, the facade is elaborately decorated with geometric designs, and mirror niches.

The Shaki Khan Palace is beautifully preserved, with incredible paintings on the ceilings and walls. The Shabaki windows and woodwork are truly stunning. We'd definitely suggest getting a guide (additional 10 AZN), it really adds to the experience. Tickets are 9 AZN for adults, and kids are free.
Sara A — Google review
A really opulent place. Located in the historic city of Sheki near the Greater Caucasus Mountains The Sheki Khan's Palace is an 18th-century architectural masterpiece built as the summer residence of the Sheki khans, notably commissioned by Muhammad Husayn Khan Mushtaq and completed around 1797. It is renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship, including intricate frescoes, miniature paintings, and the unique "shebeke" stained glass windows made without glue or nails! The palace is a two-storey building with six rooms, four corridors, and two mirrored balconies, covering about 300 square meters. It reflects the wealth of the region from silk trade and silkworm breeding during the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It’s whole area of the palace and a museum and some workshops of local art. Also a church. It’s a long drive to this place from Baku. This is beautifully preserved and well maintained. Worth the visit

Interesting place, we opted for the good English guide who was very informative and interesting. The building isn’t as impressive as the other Palace but nice if you have the time. Lunch hour 13-14:00
Gerry B — Google review
The Palace of Sheki Khans, Sheki: The simple, down to earth but seriously ornate palace for the times palace is the only reason why we endured the long, long ride to Sheki. It finally earned its shiny spot in the UNESCO list in 2019. Persian architects designed this. The breathtaking bits are the light pouring through the venetian coloured glass windows, intricately pieced together, 1 glass by 1 glass piece in a lattice-work, each imported from Venice. Frescoes of the 18th century tell all sorts of symbolic stories. #eatstylishtravelstylish

Jermuk Waterfall, located in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia, is a popular tourist spot known for its breathtaking scenery and refreshing waters. The waterfall consists of two cascades, with the upper cascade standing at 56 meters and the lower one at 25 meters, making it a total height of 81 meters. Visitors can capture stunning photos from a special area near the waterfall or from a bridge that offers picturesque views.
Good place to spend some time. There are local guys selling some stuff. Before reaching the waterfall, you have to pass by one facility where there are a lot of stinky dogs, which barks and jumps on the fence, so keep this in mind. Good luck with taking a good photo. There is always at least one guy standing on the rock behind and ruining everyone's pictures.

I adore the highest falls in Armenia. A great place to visit during summer and autumn. There are no huge crowd who visit the falls.

Jermuk Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall located in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. It is a popular tourist destination, and is known for its stunning scenery and refreshing waters. The waterfall is made up of two cascades, the upper cascade is 56 meters high and the lower cascade is 25 meters high. The total height of the waterfall is 81 meters The best time to visit Jermuk Waterfall is during the spring or summer, when the weather is warm and sunny. The waterfall is also a popular spot for hiking and picnicking. There are several trails that lead to the waterfall, and the hike is relatively easy. Overall, Jermuk Waterfall is a beautiful and refreshing place to visit. It is a great spot for hiking, picnicking, and enjoying the natural beauty of Armenia.

Really lovely experience… deep within the gorge in Jermuk you will find this stunning 35 metre waterfall. There is a lovely walkway also where you can enjoy the stream below

The "Mermaid's Hair" waterfall's mineral-rich waters stay at 38°C year-round. Locals swear drinking from the upper springs helps digestion (the sulfur smell takes getting used to). Don't miss the Soviet-era drinking pavilion with its ornate faucets dispensing different mineral compositions.

Nestled in the stunning Vayots Dzor region, Noravank Monastery is a captivating 13th-century site that showcases remarkable medieval cantilever architecture. Perched on a ledge overlooking a deep gorge formed by the Arpa River, this monastery is surrounded by striking brick-red cliffs that create an awe-inspiring backdrop.
An incredibly beautiful place — peaceful, scenic, and extremely photogenic. The road leading to Noravank is a dream for those who love winding mountain roads, passing through a stunning gorge. There are few people, the atmosphere is calm, and the views are breathtaking. A must-visit destination when traveling in Armenia!

A beautiful monastery among red rocks, especially beautiful at sunset. The main feature is a two-story church with a steep staircase, where everyone climbs for photos. But now you can't climb the stairs. The road is mountainous, the views are beautiful.

This sits on top of my heart for all the things we visited in Armenia. It is the nature, the green and red mountain slopes that surround the monastery. The view from the top was splendid!
Lazar S — Google review
Noravank should be on top of your list when visiting Armenia. The setting, surrounded by beautiful mountains, colorful and still, the atmosphere of the monastery perched on a cliff up above it - it is absolutely mesmerizing! Weekends see a lot of people and school kids, so plan accordingly. Other than your religious fulfillment, there are a ton of photo ops that will make your eye pause... A must visit!

Noravank is absolutely stunning! The church complex is beautifully preserved and set against breathtaking red cliffs. The road leading there is just as impressive—winding through a dramatic canyon with amazing views the whole way. A peaceful and unforgettable place to visit!

Location: Amaghu River gorge, near Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor Province, Armenia. Founded: 12th century, flourished mainly during the 13th–14th centuries. Landscape: Surrounded by dramatic red cliffs, making it one of the most picturesque monasteries in Armenia.

Located high in the mountains, give an incredible view from above. Definitly you want a tour guide, as there is so much history and meaning behind..top view is amazing 🤩 structure is also different..its far from city so u need a private car 🚗 with a guide..
UMI S — Google review
The Noravank site is our favourite of all these spiritual sites in Armenia. It might not have the same historical importance as others do. But the location as such is the most pristine. Already the access road leading through the gorge is pretty impressive. The site itself, slightly up the slope at the end of the valley, surrounded by the red rocks of the surrounding hills, is impressive.

Lake Sevan is a stunning freshwater lake in Armenia, covering 5% of the country. It offers sandy beaches, a medieval monastery, and various outdoor recreational activities. While it can be busy in the summer, it's worth visiting for its beauty. The high altitude means that temperatures are not ideal for swimming, but the picturesque views make up for it. Visitors recommend planning to spend more time there to truly relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Lake Sevan is a beautiful and peaceful spot in Armenia, perfect for a summer escape with its clear waters and mountain views. The Sevanavank Monastery adds charm, though it can get crowded and facilities are basic.
Indradipta S — Google review
It was nice trip from Yerevan to the lake. The most beautiful thing is the scenery and the walking around. Some good restaurant on the edge of the lake. I had great lunch of trout fish, fresh salads, and fresh bread. The other cofes or shops around the lake are not that good, neither the service. Some hotel if you decide to stay overnight. Unfortunately no good toilet for visitors.
Habib — Google review
A large and beautiful lake, we camped and slept for seven nights in different places around this lake, there are very good and free places to pitch tents but there are no facilities and you have to bring the necessary equipment with you. The height here is higher than Yerevan and also because of the lake it is a good option for camping in the warm seasons.

Bodbe's St. Nino's Convent Cathedral, also known as Bodbe Monastery, is a significant 9th-century Georgian Orthodox monastery and nunnery located near Sighnaghi. The convent offers breathtaking panoramic views and is surrounded by lush, well-maintained grounds with tall cypress trees. It serves as the final resting place of St. Nino, who played a crucial role in bringing Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century.
A great hilltop spot with stunning views of lower planes. The monastery features a beautiful garden filled with a variety of flowers and roses, all meticulously maintained. Facilities are clean and well-kept, including the bathrooms. This should be a must-stop on the way to the Kakheti wine region. I was truly impressed by the openness and breathtaking scenery from the top.

This place was beautiful from the outside and the grounds were immaculate. Photos weren't allowed inside and there was nothing really special to see (very similar to other churches and scaffolding obscuring the views at present). Toilets were good quality and cafe was reasonably priced with nice cold drinks to refresh.

Great sight. You.can walk from Sighnaghi, although the walk back is uphill. It was busy when we went on a Sunday, but peacefully. The small church on the side of the main path to the big church has amazing murals. Shoulders and knees need to be covered. There are scarves at the entrance for women to wear Great views too

Amazing centuries old monastery. Beautiful gardens, amazing view from back side of the new church. The smaller church despite its age, is very well preserved and maintained. You can still feel the medieval age atmosphere there. ITS FORBIDDEN TO TAKE PHOTOS INSIDE THE OLD CHURCH, respect the place where you’re going.

This monastery is an absolute must-see, featuring some truly incredible historic architecture and a deeply calming setting. The highlight is certainly the beautiful surrounding garden, offering a peaceful contrast to the impressive church where the historical monument of St. Nino is revered.

Sighnaghi Wall, built in 1762 and later reconstructed, surrounds the town with its stone walls, towers, and grand arched gates. Climbing onto the wall offers stunning views of Tsnori town and the valley basin. The narrow cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and wooden balconies make Sighnaghi a picturesque spot for day trips from Tbilisi.
Very nice experience but make sure you have strong knees, it a a little challenging if you have any problems walking up Hill and steep steps or mobility issues. Amazing views of the valley.
Mario L — Google review
A long wall similar to the Great Wall of China, built to defend the city from invaders. A walk up the wall and its watch towers gives a panoramic view of the city of Sighnaghi. Fun walk and great pics for the memory.
Amit K — Google review
Went early so there was no.one.as no day trippers. Views are ok, but if you stay in the area a couple of views you get much better views from any monasteries. We climbed the 2 towers, not.really necessary. I would spend no more than 20 mins of you have spare time.
Didier L — Google review
The short part of the wall that is open for walking is nothing special. Local authorities must also clean up (weeds, litter). The two towers you can go into are also littered and dirty. There is a long part of the wall on the opposite hill which is not accessible - why not? It would make a lovely walk around.
Vincent O — Google review
The wall itself is pretty underwhelming when you finally get to it, as there isn't anything especially impressive to see—it's mostly just a long stretch of old stone. It gets three stars for its historical significance, but visually and as an experience, it's just okay.
ANTHONY A — Google review
It was okay — nothing bad, nothing amazing either. The place is fine if you’re just looking for a decent stop, but it didn’t particularly stand out for me. Not something I’d go out of my way for, but not something I regret visiting either.

This World Heritage-listed site, named after the holy lance that pierced Christ's side, boasts a history dating back to the 4th century and features an oldest surviving chapel from the 12th century. The atmospheric Surp Astvatsatsin Church, built in 1215 with intricate carvings, and its adjoining gavit add to the monastery's allure.
Beautiful monastery carved in the neighboring cliffs. A rare sight indeed! One of the cave churches also had a few people singing traditional church music, which was great to hear.

Absolutely breathtaking place! The Geghard Monastery is partly carved into the rock and surrounded by dramatic cliffs — it feels both ancient and sacred. You can feel the silence and coolness of the stone halls, even when many visitors are around. A must-see in Armenia — spiritual, peaceful, and unforgettable.

I visited this church in May. Geghard Church is located in a mountainous and lush area, with an open courtyard and surrounding nature that create a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. The church building is simple, and the main halls provide enough space for visitors. Inside, there are some small rooms that are dark and somewhat eerie, but they can be interesting for those who appreciate historical sites. The walking paths around the church are easy and enjoyable, and the fresh air makes the visit relaxing.

Garni Temple, located about 30 km from Yerevan, is a well-preserved ancient structure dating back to 77 AD. It stands as the only remaining Greek-Romanian colonnaded building in Armenia and post-Soviet countries. Despite undergoing extensive restoration work, the temple still offers an intriguing glimpse into pre-Christian Armenia's cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the site's historical significance and architectural marvel while enjoying the scenic surroundings.
A magnificent structure location amidst the mountains. Had a great time walking around the complex and getting to know more about the place. If coming to Armenia, Garni Temple is a must visit. We found it to be one of the best places that we saw in the country. The entrance fee was 1500 dram each, but it was worth it. Surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery, the Garni Temple sits in the middle- a magnificent structure. The landscape around is wonderful, unable to capture with a camera. There are many tourists coming with a tour group, so it can get quite busy. We had a pleasant experience by walking around the complex, our guide giving us 30 minutes to explore.

Sevanavank is a well-known 9th-century monastery located on a peninsula in Sevan Lake, about 12km from the town of Sevan. Originally built on an island, changes in water levels have transformed it into a peninsula with picturesque views. Visitors can climb around 250 paved steps to reach the complex and enjoy panoramic views of the lake. It's advisable to bring warm clothing due to windy conditions and lower temperatures compared to Yerevan.
A visit to Lake Sevan is a must when in Armenia! The view from Sevanavank Monastery is absolutely breathtaking. Situated on a hill overlooking the vast lake, the church and its surroundings offer a perfect mix of culture, history, and nature. Climbing the stairs uphill is worth every step for the panoramic views of the mountains some of which still had a touch of snow, even in summer! The air is crisp, cooler than in most parts of the country, making the experience even more refreshing. The locals are warm and friendly, and we enjoyed trying some delicious local street food sold near the area. It was a peaceful, scenic, and culturally enriching stop on our trip. Highly recommended for nature lovers and cultural explorers alike!

Sevanavank Monastery is a nice place to visit, especially for the view of Lake Sevan. The steps up are a bit steep but manageable, and the area is clean and well maintained. There are several small shops near the entrance selling paintings, local crafts, and souvenirs at reasonable prices. You can also see a few artists painting outdoors, which gives the place a lively feel. Overall, it’s a good stop if you’re in the Sevan area, easy to reach, plenty of parking, and a great spot for photos.

Just a beautiful viewpoint with some amazing history. Walk the 500ish steps to the top for amazing views of lake Sevan, explore the ruins of the accommodation and the surrounding buildings. The monastery itself is beautiful with cross stones from the area held in the gavit (effectively the atrium). Immerse yourself in the world of wine at Kvareli Wine Cave, located in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia. This unique attraction is a four-and-a-half-mile-long network of tunnels originally built for military purposes during the Cold War. Now operated by Khareba, one of Georgia's largest wineries, the cave provides ideal conditions for aging and storing wine with its stable temperatures.
We had an amazing experience right from the beginning. From grape harvesting to wine tasting, delicious Georgian bread making. And grape pressing , the team over there very friendly and kind. It’s a huge cave wine cellar , I believe that they got over 5000 bottle of wines. We bought about 10 bottles of great selection of wine.

Take a tour including wine tasting. It is very interesting even if you are experienced in wine-making, because the traditional Georgian way is very special. Our guide was so friendly that I have to buy some samples of special dry red wine, not cheap.
Manfred B — Google review
I visited Khareba winery. It's a network of tunnels spanning 8 kilometers where wine is stored. I recommend taking a tour with a tasting to immerse yourself in the culture and history of winemaking in Georgia. Our excellent guide, Alex, made the experience even more enjoyable. It's chilly in the tunnels, so be sure to grab one of the free blankets provided at the entrance.
Evgeny S — Google review
That's quite a unique place: a wine cellar in an artificial tunnel. The temperature in the tunnel is almost stable during the year so it always feels comfortable to take a guided tour where you will hear some interesting facts about winemaking. Wine degustation is another service that you can get there and you will taste several kinds of Georgian wine, cheese, bread, and grapeseed oil produced by this company. The staff and the guides are very friendly and cheerful.

Sights & Landmarks
Located at the border with Azerbaijan, David Gareji monastery is a 6th-century complex carved into a cliff against a desert backdrop. The secluded monastery, still inhabited by monks, features excavated cells and utility rooms in dense limestone layers. Accessible via paved roads, it offers limited visibility due to monk residency but boasts beautiful grounds and a church. Visitors recommend taking a walking path for better views and suggest hiring an English-speaking driver for historical insights.
We went around 5pm with almost no other people around. Monastery is quite limited in terms of what you can see. There is a nice hike up to the back but the really nice views are restricted by border patrol. The view over the rainbow mountains from just down the road are nice! Free entry and they have a shop that sells drinks and snacks. All staff speaks very little English, which was surprising to us.
Willem L — Google review
The view is nice but not as spectacular as you might expect. The church itself is new. The rest of the monastery is quite nice.
Chrysa T — Google review
Very beautiful remote monetary that part of it is carved in the stone. There is a scenic hike up to it and than you go to see it inside. Near by there are beautiful and colorful dunes. There is a trail that you can take between them, the nature here is like magic. Also the whole region’s natural landscape is so different than other regions in Georgia , it makes the place special.
Slava M — Google review
Remote location, access is limited to part of the monastery. Very pretty and impressive. Also, right opposite of the monastery there are mineral-rich mountains that have spectacular color differences. Very pretty!
Chen Y — Google review
It was a worth experience visiting here, the hike was a bit exhausting for me but in the end I enjoyed it. There are rainbow mountains next to the monastery which looks beautiful.
Mufazzal A — Google review
Great views from and around the monastery. There isn’t any tickets so its free to enter. Paths outside of the monastery are slippery so don’t go in sandles (a lot of people were there with crocs/sandles and had issues) and I also recommend taking long pants because there is a lot of weeds which are sharp and paths are narrow. But the view from up top are great! If you need water there is small monk shop near the monastery.
Nejc L — Google review
One of the most wonderful place I have visited so far! Extremely peaceful, especially if you visit the place at the non-peak tourist time. The drive from Tbilisi to David Gareji was as beautiful and scenic. We took the alternate route which was 20mins slower than the best route option showed in Google Maps, which turned out to be absolutely wonderful. No tickets required. Core memory! :)
Shruti S — Google review
Stunning views of spectacular hills. The drive to the monastery is all very accessible roads. No tickets needed to enter the monastery, but be aware that there is not much in the area, so it's recommended to bring drinks and snacks, (and 0,50 for the bathroom). For those who are a little agile, there is a small cave up the hill with an altar, but it's a little climb. The view of the monastery is great from that hill. (!) You might walk into some military since you're really close to the border, but everyone I walked into was really friendly. (!) Be aware there are lots of venomous snakes in the area, so watch your step if you go off trail.

Surrounded by nature and history, the place carries a deep sense of respect and holy spirit that touches you the moment you arrive. We were blessed and fortunate to witness a ceremony dedicated to Mother Mary during our visit, which made the experience even more meaningful and unforgettable. The atmosphere was peaceful, spiritual, and filled with reverence. Haghartsin is not just a historical site — it is a place where faith, culture, and beauty come together. A must-visit for anyone who wishes to connect with Armenia’s spiritual heritage.

Ropeway of Tsaghkadzor

Mentioned on
3 lists
Tours
Adrenaline & Extreme Tours
The Ropeway of Tsaghkadzor offers an exhilarating cable car ride with breathtaking views of lush green forests and vibrant wildflowers. The journey to the summit feels like a picturesque wonderland, providing a refreshing break from the heat in summer. While the customer service experience may vary, visitors can enjoy activities such as buggy rides at the top for an additional fee. The price for the cable car ride is around 10 USD per person round trip, offering stunning views of the cities below.
We visited Tsaghkadzor during the summer, and despite the heat, the breathtaking views and stunning natural scenery made it an unforgettable experience. The landscape was absolutely amazing.. perfect for photography lovers, with countless picture-perfect angles at every turn. We spent a lot of time exploring the area at the top while our ever-patient tour guide, Edgar, waited for us at the base. We also tried some delicious corn 🌽 from one of the small local vendors, which added to the authentic charm of the place. Although there were exciting activities like 4x4 rides available, we chose to simply enjoy the view, capture videos, and make the most of our time in nature. It must be even more magical in the winter, and we’d love to return when the mountains are blanketed in snow. For now, the summer beauty of Tsaghkadzor will remain a special memory.

Good view from cable car in autumn. You can enjoy the colors of fall. Really nice. Nothing major to do once you reach to top apart from horse riding atv. But journey from bottom to top is awesome as its fall. Ropeway price 3000 AMD.
Jagdish G — Google review
Great view from the ropeway in November, I was surprised how busy it was considering there was no skiing. The price was cheap, there was no que to get on the lift and there is activities available at the top but we came straight back down as we just went for the view. It takes about 15 mins as a round trip and is well worth visiting. I hope to come back here in the winter to ski!!
Ellie S — Google review
Great experience Price of cable car is accepted and logic for all Price of motors on top is over-price esp. For foreigners! Need to be adjusted Not all cable-cars working No suitable place on top for sitting, drinks with good view unfortunately! Hope to adjust it for future Generally is recommend
Yaser F — Google review
As someone else said, it is honestly a waste of money. You just reach the top to find nothing except activities that require more spending like quad and horse riding. Not even anywhere to sit except a sad little cafe. To get a better enjoyment or nature I didn’t even take the ropeway back down and walked instead using what in winter is the ski track. Very steep for walking but nice views
Gianera J — Google review
What a wonderful telefric! Beautiful views of ski town! When at the top, you can even see Mount Ararat! Overall, glad we did it. They only let you get off at the first station. You can't go all the way to the top of the second station in the fall. At the first station, there are ATVs, very expensive! They are rude too... There are also horse rides... Not sure on horse ride prices... But the ATVs are very expensive.

This place is suitable for an autumn outing with friends. There are no sights to see at the peak. I recommend combining this visit with a trip to the nearby Orthodox Church and a delicious restaurant.

Alaverdi Monastery

Mentioned on
6 lists
Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Alaverdi Monastery, a fortress-style structure dating back to the 11th century, is an impressive site not to be missed. The monastery boasts a towering basilica and features an on-site vineyard for wine production. While the interior showcases beautiful paintings, altars, and incense-filled air, visitors are required to dress modestly. Although the inside may be closed for renovations at times, the surrounding green areas offer a peaceful setting for prayer and reflection.
A beautiful historic monastery in the middle of the Kakheti winemaking region. It is a beautiful place to visit on its own merit, then there is the fact that it is a rather important Orthodox Christian church of the region and, of course, there is honey and the very famous wine. The wine is a story of its own as it is one of the first proper Georgian wines I tried and immediately fell in love with. It’s a full bodied amber / orange natural wine, full of apricots, pink plums and quince, with lots of tannin, nice acidity and overall very good complexity. The wine is too expensive at this point but you are drinking history more or less at this point.

An impressive monastery. The cathedral is currently undergoing restoration - lots of scaffolding. Despite the construction, it's a very peaceful place. It makes for a great short stop if you're driving through the area. There is a small shop with monastery items. Important Info: - There is no entrance fee. - No photos/videos are allowed inside the monastery. - Dress respectfully (shoulders/knees covered). They provide trousers for men and long skirts for women at the entrance.
Timm S — Google review
It is under rehabilitation. So sad that they can’t restore all the paintings inside due to financial issue. You can still feel the solemnity of Georgian Orthodox Church though.
Sesame W — Google review
Currently under renovation, so many areas were closed offand the church tower and much of the walls are covered in scaffolding. Church itself is very impressive, as are the graves and the gardens. It's still well worth visiting.
Phil M — Google review
Currently under construction after the tornado incident a few years ago. No entrance fee, no photos inside the cathedral - there's a little shop right by the entrance where you can borrow wide pants for men, and a skirt for women (even if you have long pants). Scarfs are there too :)) -Except for the fresco of Sait Giorgi (St. George), there isn't much of the original frescoes inside. Do not attempt to speak to the monks, most of them have a vow of silence.
Mária P — Google review
It was a great experience visiting here, but it’s a pity that the place is currently under renovation.
Gravy C — Google review
Visiting the historical Alaverdi Monastery was amazing. The territory is well taken care of. In the yard they have single vine plants of almost all Georgian grape varieties. We also booked a tour in a 11th century historical wine cellar in advance. Nana's presentation was very informative and interesting. Through the visit, we got to experience Georgian culture and its close ties to winemaking.

Skver Voinskoy Slavy 1941-1945 G.g.

Park
Nature & Parks
Skver Voinskoy Slavy 1941-1945 G.g. is a beautifully maintained square that offers a serene escape in the heart of the city. While it boasts lovely landscaping and benches for relaxation, some visitors feel that the children's amusement park detracts from its charm, as it features outdated attractions reminiscent of past eras. However, this vibrant space also hosts various cultural events such as concerts and theatrical performances, showcasing local talent alongside visiting artists.

Gonio-Apsaros Fortress, located in what was once Colchis, is a remarkable Roman fortification with a rich history tied to legends like Jason and the Argonauts. This unique example of Roman Byzantine military architecture features a rectangular layout with imposing high stone walls encompassing an area of 47,000 square meters and is adorned with 18 towers.
It’s an interesting place! There’s an archaeological site, so you can see people actually digging there. There isn’t a lot to see, but the atmosphere is really nice and worth a quick visit. Tickets are cheap — around 10 GEL.

Spectacular. Magical place. With old walls, extremely green grass and forested hills in the back you get a sensational experience. The whole area is quite big. Takes about 30-40 minutes to walk throught it.
Kamil — Google review
We were here 7 years ago and today we came back here with our children. My daughter studied the history of the Russian Empire at the English school and when we arrived in Batumi we went to show her Gonio. This is a unique place that everyone should visit. The territory is not big, but it has so much history. There is a very beautiful museum on the premises that can describe the history in detail. Here you can buy souvenirs, take a walk and there is a toilet. This year we also saw roses blooming - here is our own alley of different roses. There is a separate house in which clothes and tools of those times are presented. Admission is free for locals and 10 GEL for guests.

Gonio Fortress is a lovely historical site worth visiting for anyone interested in history and ancient architecture. The fortress offers a glimpse into the past with its well-preserved ruins and small onsite museum displaying historical artifacts. It’s a pleasant place to walk through and explore. The staff at the entrance were friendly and welcoming, and the facilities, including the restrooms, were clean and well-maintained.

The fortress in Gonio is probably not the most famous in the world, but it is very well preserved and visited. Just think, it is already two thousand years old! A ticket costs only 10 GEL. You can walk right along the preserved walls of the fortress. There is an archaeological museum, a souvenir shop, and the tomb of one of Christ's apostles, Matthias, on the grounds.

Gonio Fortress is a cool ancient spot near Batumi with sturdy stone walls and pretty green areas. The statues and ruins, plus the possible Saint Matthias tomb, make it historically fun. I enjoyed the peaceful vibe and exploring!

Gonio Fortress is a fascinating historical site full of stories and charm. The ancient walls, towers, and peaceful garden inside make it a great place to walk around and imagine life centuries ago. The site is well-kept and surrounded by beautiful nature, with views of the mountains and the sea nearby. A must-visit if you’re in Batumi and love history or quiet, atmospheric places!
Rima B — Google review
Gonio, previously called Apsarus or Apsaros, is a Roman fortification 15 km south of Batumi, at the mouth of the Chorokhi river. Its name was connected with the myth of Medea and her brother Absyrtus. In the 2nd century AD it was a well-fortified Roman city within Colchis. The town was also known for its theatre and hippodrome. It later came under Byzantine influence. In addition, there was a short-lived Genoese trade factory at the site. In 1547, Gonio was taken by the Ottoman Empire, who held it until 1878, when, via the San-Stefano Treaty, Adjara became part of the Russian Empire. The grave of Saint Matthias, one of the twelve apostles, is believed to be inside the Gonio fortress. The location of the fortress, surrounded by lash green mountains, is amazingly beautiful and very picturesque.

Mt Elbrus

Mountain peak

Mount Elbrus, located in the Greater Caucasus range, is Europe's highest peak at 5,642 meters. The mountain has two summits - the western peak at 5,642m and the eastern peak at 5,621m. It is known for its volcanic cone with upper slopes covered in ice up to 200 meters thick and numerous glaciers. The area also serves as a watershed for the Greater Caucasus region.
Its not a very long walk, but it is tiresome. You have the option to pay for transport quite far up which I highly reccomend, or else you have to walk some extra hours in the dark. I was extremly lucky with the weather and had a clear view on the top. It is a very easy walk, just tiresome because of the oxygen levels. It is at no places dangerous and at the steepest places there are some ropes and if you fall, well you fall in soft snow an mabye tumble around once or twice. No danger. What can happen is bad weather so just keep that in mind and pack some extra stuff. I had to pull over a down jacked on the top to keep warm because of the wind. And remember you dont want to take things off when its cold. Guide was very helpfull and I highly recommend a good guide. Also because of the drivers of the snow transports, they are like a mafia and its either good to talk Russian or have a Russian speaker with you.

Highest peak of Europe. The photo was taken on my return flight from Europe to Japan. It has two iconic peaks, the eastern peak at 5621m and western peak at 5642m that is the top of European wide. It is stratovolcano and the symbolic center of the mountain belongs to Caucasus range.

Gorgeous mountain, one of the 7 summits. The views from the top are great too (when not in whiteout, of cause). The south side is a little spoiled by civilization (mostly skiing infrastructure) so only after 5300 m you start feeling truly in alone and a little detached from civilization. Still great experience, though!
Maxim S — Google review
Just an amazing experience! Thanks to the people like Anastasia and our climb leader(big boss) Andrej. He was a profesional at each moment of our tour. Perfect!
Ľubomír J — Google review
Beautiful mountain in the heart of Caucasus. Not a very technical climb at all. Not many people will be climbing it with you even during high season, so it's still quite enjoyable. Biggest problem during the climb will be that some of the tourists climbing with you will be taking the "shortcut" to the base camp (with ski lifts) and to the Summit (with snowcats). Not exactly the most nature oriented climb. But besides this, the views are amazing and the climb enjoyable. Because it's not so high in altitude, you should be doing quite ok on the altitude sickness side as long as you take the necessary time and listen to your body. We saw one tourist (from another group) having to be lifted down by a rescue team because he was already at severe altitude sickness levels. People are not careful enough and do not understand what that can cause to them. So be mindful!

Dombay is a wonderful destination for a family vacation. My son and I had a great time enjoying the picturesque mountain landscapes and various activities. We especially loved the cable car rides and sledding. Additionally, we took numerous photos with animals, which was a delightful addition to our trip. The fresh mountain air, combined with breathtaking views, made our experience even more enjoyable. For families with children, Dombay offers many interesting spots. We recommend visiting the Teberda Nature Reserve, where you can see a variety of animals and birds. It’s also worth visiting the Alibek Waterfall — the path to it is easy and suitable for children. In the village, there are several playgrounds and entertainment centers where your kids can have fun. Horseback riding is another great activity that allows you to explore the beautiful surroundings. You can also try snow tubing, which is an exciting and safe option for all ages. The locals are very hospitable and always ready to help. Cafes and restaurants offer delicious Caucasian cuisine that will appeal to both adults and children. We particularly enjoyed the freshly baked khachapuri, grilled meat, and aromatic herbal tea. The atmosphere in Dombay is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. If you’re planning a trip to this region, be sure to visit Dombay. This place will leave unforgettable impressions for the whole family. Whether you love adventure, nature, or simply want to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Dombay has something special for everyone.

Dombai offers breathtaking views, fresh mountain air, and a true winter wonderland experience. The slopes are great for intermediate skiers, and the surrounding nature is simply magical - perfect for both skiing and scenic walks. The infrastructure isn’t as modern as in Europe, but that’s part of its charm. Lifts can be a bit outdated and queues are common during peak season, but the incredible beauty of the place more than makes up for it.

January 2021. Not a lot of snow to ski, but this is not due to the service. The old lift is simply awful, slow and non convenient, and mostly, dangerous. The new one is ok, but definitely over crowded. To rent the skies is not hard, full of small places, missing an organized big one. 3 stars are only for the mountains, which are very beautiful. The rest, I suggest: with the same money, you can fly to Italy or France or Austria.

Generally feels like they could have done better with the resort... Some runs are fantastic, not too long but fun. Most of the other slopes are long and narrow, which is less fun. Lifts are OK but the Russians should learn more about queue management. We had two times where we waited 20-25 minutes, other waits were long too. If the site is crowded then you feel it well on the slopes. The good :excellent site for beginners, the area between slopes is very nice for the powder seekers. Bottom line - not the same as the alps but a nice alternative nevertheless.

Best ski resort in Sochi for beginners and families. Had a great time here. Nice, wide slopes with beautiful views. Not too crowded because the slopes disperse away from the main area rather than to it. Great vibe with nice music and large, inviting central rental/information area. Helpful and friendly staff. Lots of places to sit and nice variety of cafes and restaurants.

Very nice for beginners! Slopes are quite wide and not too flat to get bored, the view is beautiful. However, if you are advanced, it will definitely feel too easy here. I personally just loved the night-skiing - you can ski until 11pm! Slopes are nicely lightened and everything looks so atmospheric 💫 Organization is still to be somewhat improved - queues in front of the lifts are usual thing and can take quite long!

Loved it! Great service, not crowded, all sorts of activities available. I believe it's the only place in this resort to practice cross-country skiing!

Super complex. We went ice-skating (great) in Galactica followed by swimming in the Aquapark (the outdoor pool in the snow is something else). We then finished the day with night skiing under lights. Nice, easy and wide slopes, (D1 was a nice blue for novices) plus some more challenging pistes for the more advanced. Thank you, we had a great time!

Just horrible to say the least. The lowest lever of service remained the same from "soviet era", you are supposed to be guilty for clumsy skiing maneuvres however there is NO snow coverage in Gazprom ski resort. Rude comments from the staff, some disrepectful remarks - those are the memories I'm gonna bring from this trip. Rip-off in terms of prices: 2000 RUB -ski pass for 1 day, 500 RUB parking fee ( for 1 hour), 200 RUB 1 hour for the storage of the staff in a locker, very high prices in restorants, 9000 RUB for 2 adults - 2 hour training with an instructor. That's not even worth it, there is no snow by 5th of January

Great ski resort even if you stay down mountain. Suitable kid/newbie hills and plenty of other hills too!
