This iconic desert landscape has been featured in numerous films due to its otherworldly appearance. Lovely people. Less scammers. Kind tribe Peaceful night with lovely star gazing experience. Very hot and dry so bring your face mist and a lot of sunscreen. Shout out to Eid and Zaed brothers who looked after us. Jeep tour and a lot of hiking. Bring lots of water and sun protection. Bring snacks as well. Please see the info re. Jeep tours

Wadi Rum may be a desert, but it's far from ordinary. This incredible landscape carries centuries of history — once a vital trade route linking Iran, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. With its dramatic red sands, towering rock formations, and wide-open silence, it's a place that leaves a lasting impression. Entry is free with the Jordan Pass, and once inside, a Jeep tour is a must. I highly recommend the 4-hour tour — it hits all the major highlights, gives you time to sip herbal tea in a local Bedouin village, and includes some adrenaline-pumping rides through the sand dunes. Our driver made the dune drifting part a blast — we couldn’t stop smiling! If you're planning to stay overnight (and you should!), book a tent inside the protected area. Watching the sunset fade into a night full of stars is a surreal experience. Don’t miss the stargazing tour — the desert sky here is unbelievably clear. Dinner is another highlight — a traditional meal slow-cooked underground in the sand for over three hours. The flavor and the experience both are unforgettable. Wadi Rum is more than just a desert — it’s an experience of nature, history, and Bedouin hospitality all in one. Absolutely worth the visit!
SONICK T — Google review
A magnificent, unforgettable view where the blue sky meets the orange dunes against the backdrop of majestic mountains. You can ride a jap or a camel, stroll through the dunes, sleep overnight in a tent or a cabin, or admire the starry night sky. I highly recommend it; it's an unforgettable experience.
Małgorzata B — Google review
Wadi Rum is where the Earth pretends to be Mars. It does a pretty convincing job: giant red cliffs, red sand, and silence so thick it hums .. its really, really quiet. Most people stay in one of the many bubble or dome camps, which look like space pods which are scattered all over the desert. These are great, but to really get a feel of the place you’ve got to explore. I hiked up to Burdah Rock Bridge (a 1.5 hour scramble worth every sweaty step) or wander the canyons. If you're staying overnight, one or two nights is perfect: long enough to feel lost in another world, short enough not to get bored.
Russell R — Google review
If you are travelling to Jordan don't miss this place. An overnight stay is a must to have a feel of the place. There are numerous Camps to suit everyone's budget. Took a jeep tour to visit the Protected Area and watch sunset. The organizers/ drivers are very nice and ensure that tourists get best experience. The highlight of the place is that it's a desert surrounded by mountains. Loved the experience and highly recommend a visit to this protected area.
Soudamini M — Google review
This place can't be more magical! No one visiting Jordan should skip this. The atmosphere, the weather, the view, and everything. It is just magical! We had a couple of hours ride tour. I found it a bit short honestly, but still enough to make sure I am coming again to visit at some point in my life. Highly recommend!!
Lara B — Google review
Wadi Rum is an otherworldly desert landscape filled with massive red sandstone mountains, deep canyons, and endless open valleys that look straight out of a movie—quite literally. This stunning desert has been the filming location for several iconic films, including “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Martian,” “Dune,” and multiple sci-fi movies that use its surreal terrain as a stand-in for Mars. Riding through the desert—whether by jeep or on foot—lets you admire dramatic rock formations, ancient petroglyphs, and wide horizons that shift color with the sun. Sunrise and sunset are especially magical as the whole desert glows in shades of gold and red. At night, the silence and crystal-clear skies make Wadi Rum a perfect place for stargazing. Whether you’re climbing viewpoints, exploring natural arches, or simply enjoying the peaceful vastness, Wadi Rum is one of the most unforgettable landscapes in Jordan.
Antony L — Google review
Truly this is an amazing environment with stunning scenery and, if you take the chance, a peaceful place worth much more than a quick overnight stopover. Free entry with a Jordan pass. 4 wheel drive excursions a must to see the best of it. Oh and if there's no moon, do a star gazing trip to see the Milky Way and shooting stars 🌌☄️🌑 The only reason I haven't given it 5* is because of the rubbish which is being blown into the park from the nearby settlements and camps. It's crying out for a clean up 🥹

It is a very nice mall. Most of the brands available in Dhahran Mall are available here as well. I would recommend going here instead. But the only downside is, it doesn't have many cafe or Restaurants. Apart from this I did good purchase from here.
Noor F — Google review
It's been a long time since I was there last time, but it is improving and contains all the brands you need, there is an arcade game on the 3rd floor , the othaim supermarket is on the first floor along with a variety of shops, I advise everyone to go there, you will find your needs there whatever they are, the second floor has the city max and others. The only issue is that the mall is so big needing an information disc to guide you to the place that you want to go and a larger parking area as well

This mall has everything you could want under one roof. Great shopping options and plenty of shops. Food court is also available with several options. Well decorated with clean and modern layout. Parking was easy and the entire space felt safe and well-maintained. During the weekends will be crowded a bit especially the food court.
Marwan K — Google review
The mall was well lit and was very vibrant and spacious😀 The food court was enormous☺️ but I found a lot of pigeons flying around there There’s a big play area on the 3rd floor near the food court for kids to play around The restroom were clean and well maintained Overall it’s a good place to shop, play and spend time with our family 🤩

Houssem A — Google review
Mall is on good location, it's like a big ship. You will find many national and international brands of clothing and other household things. Mall top floor has food court and big area for kids entertainment. It includes many arcade games and different types of ride, swing etc. Food court has big sitting area. But on weekends it Will almost full. There is also hyper market with good promotions. Although parking area is limited. Good place to visit with kids, family indoor hangout. Mena Holiday Beach Resort Half Moon

Hotel
Outdoor Activities
Mena Holiday Beach Resort Half Moon is a charming bayside getaway that offers cozy rooms and suites, perfect for those looking to unwind by the sea. With its own private beach and a medium-sized pool, guests can enjoy leisurely days soaking up the sun. While dining options are available on-site, meals such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner come at an additional cost.
It is cut off from city centre, so hungerstation doesnt deliver here, leaving no other choice than to rely on the menu by the resort.otherwise its got a beautiful coastline with swimming pool for kids
Nida S — Google review
The only good thing about this hotel is that it has a private beach. Food choices for breakfast is limited. Called the staff to clean our room but nobody came and when we insisted on having our room tidied up, the hotel staffs declined and said that they have other rooms to clean first (no guests). Dirty pool especially the kiddie pool. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Only come here if you’re on a tight budget and wanted to have a private beach.
Aprilyn — Google review
The place is very good and the beach is also inviting you to swim. A good plce to hold a big event for company gatherings or recollections. A lot of fun activity and sports you can do here because of theur wide amenities. The only thing i do not like or disappointed is their toilet/ washroom. They should change/replace or renovate their public toilet mostly the toilet bowl and sink. It is very important to attract more guests and custumers.
Sam P — Google review
I went on a Eid vacation, and the hotel was mediocre at best. Pros: Room size is good Location is perfect Cons: Awful food Terrible service NO cleanness Hotel has signs of age Shower takes time to be hot There was no cleanness in the hotel. There were no toothbrushes, tissues, or toothpaste and the towels were old and dirty. The "room cleaning" button on the hotel telephone does not work .The cleaner only came ONE time in my 4 day vacation, and if you try to get him to come clean your room he takes a long time to come. The food was awful for both breakfast and lunch. There was not a lot of food, and the food feels old and cold. In addition, the hotel is pretty greedy, so if you want to get a bottle of water or get a bottle of Pepsi, you'll need to pay up. The water is overpriced and small (costs 4 riyals!). The service is very bad. The hotel tries to minimize the amount of workers to reduce the prices of rooms, and that has diminishing returns. In the swimming pool area, there are no table cleaners and overall service is very bad. The hotel has signs of age, and that becomes evident when you go to the underground pool bathroom, as the roof is literally peeling off. These signs of age are all over the hotel, including in the bottom of doors, and in the rooms. Lastly, the shower takes a long time to get hot even if you set the water temperature at the highest. For the price, I expected more. The location is excellent, but the poor cleanliness, bad food, and lack of service make this hotel hard to recommend.
Wimp — Google review
It was a terrible experience. I have never stayed in a hotel as bad as this. I would highly recommend not to stay in this hotel. Here’s why : The rooms were small and dingy. They were not cleaned properly as we saw trash in the room. The toilet was disgusting and unclean. They did not clean the room properly. There was not much to do. Extremely Boring. Quite safe. There was not much you could walk around. It was plain and nothing to eat. Especially breakfast the food was dead and completely disgusting. The room service was really bad. We asked them for a mattress they couldn’t give, they only gave a blanket with bugs in it. Whenever we ask they always bring at least 2 hours after. For people who’ve statues and Enjoyed before, rethink. This resort used to be holiday inn. Holiday in was superb. That’s why we came. They’ve changed their ways as there is a new owner. Mena hotel was previously holiday inn. But their ways have changed badly. They also scammed, lied, and cheated us. They promised us 3 beds that we never got. They charged us for 3 bedrooms but only gave us 2 bedrooms. They promised us mattresses but we never got that as well. They got us 3 useless blankets that we could not use without mattresses. Even one of them had bugs. A little message to the manager of Mena Resort : I you are reading this, we had a horrible stay. You offered us 3 beds and charged us for 3 beds but you only gave us 2. You promised us 3 mattresses but you only gave us 3 blankets with one having bugs. I’m sorry to say but we have not enjoyed this and certainly won’t come back. We feel we did not have a stay up to our expectations and if you made a mistake it would be shameful not to make compensate. You guys made a mistake and instead of trying to compensate you guys made it worse. Overall, staying in this hotel is not a good idea.
Halima A — Google review
Very good place only down side is that the buffet is extra and you have to buy breakfast / lunch / dinner separately but the pool was ok it was not heated tho but it was medium sized and beach was ok the sand is not that good but you get a beutiful sunset
Yassin M — Google review
It is the worst resort ever - I don’t recommend anyone to stay here rooms are too old - not clean full of insects the moment you open the balcony door - villa beside are not renovated and full of damage furniture on in the front where it is supposed to sit and enjoy the sea view- they describe the unit as a villa of two bedrooms and in fact it is a studio type unit - too small and smelling bad
Ragheb S — Google review

Al Qarah Mountain is a must-visit destination with ample parking and friendly staff. The entrance fee is reasonable, offering a detailed history of the area and displaying interesting artifacts. Inside the cave, visitors can enjoy the cool atmosphere while exploring its beauty. From the hilltop, one can admire stunning views of date farms and greenery. It's an ideal place for families as kids can have fun climbing rocks and exploring the caves.
Stunning natural landmark with unique caves and panoramic views of Al-Ahsa Oasis. The cool caves are perfect for escaping the heat. a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers.

Also called Judas Cave. It is worth a visit. There will be an offer for a tourguide-45minutes tour (need to pay a hundred tho), and they will let you borrow a flashlight each person. There will be fee for Entrance (fifty SAR)+ vat(7.5sar) per person (I wasn’t able to ask if there’s any difference of payment for kids). You are free to take photos.. there will be photographers around if you want better photos or printed copies. They also have Souvenir shops… If you are worried about food and drinks, there are cafes and restaurants you can go. Parking is not a problem, they got a big place for that. So far, it is far😂 but worth it.. a place away from work and worries.. a little break you deserve.. 🥰
RG — Google review
Outside the caves it can get harsh (sun, heat) so visiting at cooler times of day is wise.Once inside, you’ll immediately notice the temperature drop — it can be 10–15 °C cooler than outside, making it a natural escape from the desert heat. The walk includes some open sections.Allow around 1–2 hours for the full visit.Entry fee: Around SAR 50–57 per adult. However, the light is ambient, not bright it’s designed to highlight the cave walls and atmosphere,

Al Qarah Mountain, also called Jabal Al Qarah, is a natural and cultural landmark in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahsa area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We had little difficulty in locating the entrance of this heritage site after reaching Al Ahsa. Though only about 75 meters high, it is famous for its dramatic cliffs and cool caves formed by centuries of wind and water erosion. The mountain is composed primarily of sedimentary rocks such as limestone, sandstone, and clay, which over centuries have been shaped by wind and water erosion into dramatic cliffs, narrow passageways, and natural caves. They remain cool in the intense desert summer and relatively warm in winter, making them a natural air-conditioned shelter. Today, this place is a popular tourist attraction, with pathways and a cultural center that showcase its geology and history. Al Qarah remains a symbol of Al-Ahsa’s heritage, blending natural beauty with timeless traditions.

Grassy park & beach with sculptures, fountains, a kids’ play area & waterfront promenade.
Al Nakheel Beach was an incredible experience. I spent nearly 3hours here and found it to be superior to any other beach in Dammam. The beach was immaculate and well-maintained, providing a pleasant and clean environment. Additionally, there is a spacious garden area that offers ample space for leisure activities❤️ I observed many families enjoying their time here, indulging in tea, coffee, and snacks. The weather was perfect - not too cold nor too hot, creating an ideal atmosphere. I highly recommend choosing this beach over any other, as it provides clean water for swimming🏊 .

had such a wonderful time at this park and beach! The area is very well maintained, clean, and welcoming. The park has plenty of space to relax, walk around, or enjoy a picnic with family and friends. I especially loved how peaceful it felt, with lots of greenery and shaded spots to sit and unwind. The beach is beautiful, with soft sand and clear water that makes it perfect for swimming or just strolling along the shore. It’s a great spot to catch the sunset, and the atmosphere is very family-friendly. Everything feels safe and organized, making it an ideal place for both relaxation and fun. Overall, it’s a perfect combination of nature and relaxation—I would definitely recommend visiting if you’re looking for a calm and refreshing escape.

One of the amazing places I visited in Saudi Arabia reminded me of the Nile corniche or a beach, especially with its magnificent sunset views. However, despite its resemblance to the Nile, its salty taste brought me back to reality, reminding me that this was not the Nile. We still had a wonderful time doing a barbecue (اقاشي) with friends and family.

Al Masmak Palace is one of Riyadh’s most fascinating historical sites — a well-preserved mud-brick fortress that tells the story of how modern Saudi Arabia began. Visiting the palace feels like stepping back in time, with detailed exhibits, old photographs, and artifacts that bring the 1902 recapture of Riyadh by King Abdulaziz to life. The site is compact and easy to explore in under an hour. The museum staff are welcoming, and the information displays (in Arabic and English) make the experience accessible even without a guide. The surrounding area, including Souq Al Zal, adds to the atmosphere and makes it worth a longer cultural stop.

This is the museum to come to if you want to find out how the third and current Saudi State was founded. While I already read a bit on the history of the Kingdom before flying here, I must say, it is something else to see the actual place where the state was founded well over a century ago. The video inside details the night raid of Ibn Saud as well, which was an excellent addition to the exhibition. Certainly a must visit in Riyadh, a free one no less!

UPDATE after my phone call to AlMasmak issue. My hotel concierge was able to contact them and confirm theywere open. So I went. What a fantastic small museum. An elegant, educational and historically rich museum that tell the story of the reuification of the Kingdom through the conquer by King Abdulaziz.of the Masmak fortress. Even the video of the capture beautifully disaplayed the heroism of hi 40 men in a night commando raid. Must do. By the way the entrance is free.

This site tells the story of the birth of modern Saudi Arabia. See the story in the picture in this post. It is a free museum, it takes about one and one half hours to learn the history, free guided tour also available. The surrounding area is great for local stuff shopping.

The National Museum, a restored former palace in Riyadh, offers a comprehensive look at the history and culture of Saudi Arabia. With eight galleries spanning two floors, visitors can explore exhibits ranging from prehistoric times to modern era, including a life-size reproduction of Nabatean tombs. The museum's interactive displays provide insight into the Arabian Peninsula's history and the introduction of Islam.
The National Museum Riyadh is a true cultural treasure and one of the best places to learn about Saudi Arabia’s rich history and heritage. From pre-Islamic times through the rise of Islam and into the modern era, the museum presents its story beautifully through well-organized and detailed exhibits. The architecture is stunning, with spacious galleries that allow you to take your time and absorb the displays without feeling rushed or crowded. The experience is greatly enhanced by the presence of friendly and knowledgeable staff stationed at various points throughout the museum, ready to assist and answer questions. The environment is clean, well-maintained, and inviting for both tourists and locals. It’s a perfect destination for families, history enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to understand the depth of Saudi culture. A visit here is not just informative, but truly inspiring.

I got the chance to visit The National Museum of Saudi Arabia, and I have to say, it surprised me. It’s a great place to visit with your family or as a tourist destination. The museum goes through an insightful and in-depth coverage of The Kingdom’s history, Islamic history, and geographical history. There are lots of artifacts and fossils, accompanied by their respective descriptions. There is an outdoor garden which is a beautiful place to have a walk or take in the scenery. I do recommend taking the green line metro to the museum to add to the experience, as the station itself is quite beautiful, as is the walk to the museum. However take care to go during pleasant weather, as the summer heat can be quite unbearable. My only issue with the place was the lack of places to buy water, although, it can be understandable as food and drink are not allowed past the lobby and into the museum. Overall, I recommend visiting the national museum!

A huge museum complex in the middle of a small pleasant garden. The personal is very friendly and helpful. Main entrance is free, but temporary exhibitions might need a prepaid ticket. The permanent collection is very interesting to visit. Very few exceptional pieces but they are worth the visit alone. Explanations are good, focused on a younger or not so experienced audience. The freshly brewed coffee in the main entrance hall is well worth trying.

One of the best National Museums I visited. The narrative you find here is not one full of pride, but humility. It is a well written history of the region and its people in a very candid manner. There is also a short but sweet part on natural history, though I was here for the Saudi history first and foremost. The exhibition does end more or less when the third and current Saudi state is founded as far as I could understand. There seems to be some free offerings in the atrium and the entry is free for all. Better yet, the museum’s backyard is a gorgeous park that you should spend some time in to relax and ponder about what you learnt in the museum. This park hides an entrance to another exhibition, this time focusing on the founder of the Kingdom, Ibn Saud, which is a must visit in my humble opinion as well. This whole are is just an excellent experience overall really.

Very worthwhile to visit. Learned a bunch about the culture and history. Entrance was free and self guided. Just follow the yellow line through the various rooms. It’s much larger than it looks. Lots of rooms and exhibits. After we finished at the museum we strolled through the park and outside areas. Lots of fun and educational too!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently visited the National Museum of Saudi Arabia, and it was a wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how beautiful and well-designed the place is. The exhibitions are organized in a way that takes you through Saudi Arabia’s history step by step — from ancient times to the modern era. I really enjoyed the interactive displays and videos that helped bring the stories to life. Everything was clearly explained in both Arabic and English, which made it easy to follow and understand. The staff were polite and helpful, and the whole environment felt calm and welcoming. What I liked most was how the museum connects history with culture — it made me appreciate how much the Kingdom has developed while still preserving its traditions. Overall, my visit was educational and inspiring. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Riyadh.

Visiting the National Museum of Saudi Arabia was honestly one of the best cultural experiences I’ve had in the city. The museum is beautifully designed, both inside and out. The architecture alone is worth seeing, it’s modern but still reflects traditional Saudi elements, and the atmosphere feels calm and welcoming from the moment you step in. What I loved most was how well the exhibits are organized. Each hall takes you on a journey through different eras of Saudi history, from prehistoric times to the modern Kingdom. The displays are detailed and interactive, which really helps you understand the country’s story, culture, and growth over time. The section about Islam’s beginnings and the Prophet’s era was especially powerful and moving. The museum also does a great job blending technology with history. There are screens, videos, and even sound effects that make everything feel alive. I also appreciated how everything is labeled in both Arabic and English, so even international visitors can fully enjoy the experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the ticket prices were very reasonable. The museum is located in King Abdulaziz Historical Center, so it’s surrounded by gardens and other landmarks worth exploring after your visit. Overall, I would highly recommend the National Museum to anyone visiting Riyadh, locals or tourists. It’s not just educational, but also inspiring, and it really makes you appreciate Saudi Arabia’s deep and rich heritage.

Wow, honestly wow. Saudi arabia is really opening my eyes towards another dimension, I never thought in my life I would see this much history in the national museum of Saudi Arabia. The museum is super clean, well equipped, signs everywhere, employees willing to help you with anything and super respectful and responsive. Each section of the museum takes you to another dimension, plus I had the chance to visit the exhibition of the coins that was in the museum, the guide during the exposition was amazing, he knows his stuff, and really friendly. Saudi Ministry of Culture thank you for this wonderful experience and I honored and happy to be one of the visitors of this great museum. God bless Saudi Arabia and the Saudi people 🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦💚💚🙏🏻🙏🏻

Lawrence’s Spring is a natural spring located in a red rocky desert, famously mentioned in T.E. Lawrence's 'Seven Pillars of Wisdom.' The climb to the spring is not through a single path, allowing visitors to choose their own route. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the top, and the steep climb can be managed by individuals of varying ages.
Phenomenal views after a short climb (however sturdy closed-toe footwear recommended as I cut my feet up on some of the sharp granite rocks). Friendly Bedouins at the base who serve tea and coffee. 😊
Sam H — Google review
Beautiful view of the desert after you scrambled up the mountain! Wear good grip shoes/sandals, take water with you. First stop of the jeep tour from the village so pretty crowded at the base. On the way back to the village, we stopped here again to take a 1/2h camel ride (5jd/per) back to the village. Highly recommend the camel ride, super fun experience and just a right amount of time. The camels are cute and seem to be well-looked after!
Mai N — Google review
Nice views from the spring which itself is just unattractive small water hole. The climb is not easy and descent even more difficult due to big rocks. Take it easy and slow!
Igor F — Google review
The way up and down to the spring is not done trough a single path. You can start from any point and make your way up to the top as you see fit. It is under the sun at all time so plan to take water. It is a rather short climb though steep of about 15 mins. We could easily manage the climb with an 11, 13 and 15 years old. On the top you’ll find a very small spring that resembles a pond and that the Bedouin have tap into to bring water down the valley for the animals.

Make sure you do a multi day visit to wadi rum because this site and the other ocuple ones close to the village are innundated with tourists and not all that much fun. If you can get to the back of the desert you can have similar places all to yourself.
Kevin W — Google review
Check the rock with the ancient writings, climb up the mountain (take water). The view is insanely beautiful! Then enjoy Bedouin tea when you get down. This is a regular stop for all tours - Jeep or camel, so later in the morning can become pretty crowded. Highly recommend doing it though! One of the highlights of our tour!

Wadi Rum Protected Area, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is a must-visit destination in Jordan. This iconic desert landscape has been featured in numerous films due to its otherworldly appearance. Visitors can stay at Bedouin camps and embark on 4x4 desert excursions to explore hidden caves, canyons, sand dunes, and springs.

The Dana Biosphere Reserve, the largest in Jordan, offers a diverse range of landscapes and is a popular destination for hiking. The reserve features sandstone cliffs reaching over 1700m high near Dana and descends to 50m below sea level in Wadi Araba. It encompasses protected valleys with a rich ecosystem, including around 600 plant species such as citrus trees, junipers, desert acacias, and date palms. Additionally, it is home to approximately 180 bird species.
One of the best places to go for a hike and relax. The mountains here are breathtaking — you’ll never see anything like them anywhere else. Just make sure to take a guide with you.

Beautiful natural reserve with hiking trails and amazing views. We hired a local guide named “Abadallah” and we did a 4 hours hike through the mountains. Recommended for adults because some trails are very technical for kids. If you have a hiking pole take it with you and it will be of great help. At the end the guide facilitated a small lunch at the local Dana village.

We asked information from the visitor center (at Dana Guesthouse) where we were kindly encouraged to go on a hike on our own (we also didn’t pay any entrance fee). We chose a gorgeous Wadi Dana trail (the red trail) which is a one way 14km, but we chose to hike for some time and then return. The beginning of the trail is a bit tricky to find - because you don’t expect it to be what it is. It starts from behind the Dana Tower Hotel, really in the end of the village, a paved road down the hill. There are no signs, but if you find the starting point (locals are helpful) then the rest is really easy, because you really see the road in front of you the whole time and there are not really chance to get lost. First 1,6km and app 45min is really steep way down, but as it is basically by a road wide as a driveway, it’s easily doable. We ended up doing a 7,5km and app 3hrs hike back and forth in the gorge. We absolutely loved the scenery and the views. We really recommend the hike and it’s really not that complicated.

Al-Siq, a 1.2km narrow canyon in Petra, Jordan, is a mesmerizing natural passage leading visitors through red-rock walls towards the hidden city. This magical corridor holds spiritual significance and offers an unforgettable experience as it snakes its way to the ancient city. Walking through Al-Siq feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by history and impressive rock formations. The anticipation builds with every turn, as visitors eagerly await the breathtaking view of the Treasury at Petra.
Walking through the 1.2 km narrow Siq(Arabic of canyon) is like stepping back in time, surrounded by history and the impressive natural beauty of the rock formations. The walk through this magical corridor, as it snakes its way towards the hidden city, is one full of anticipation for the wonders ahead. I will recommend to take the walk instead of buggy as it’s truly a unique and unforgettable experience of visiting Petra. Every turn will make you excited if it’s the turn when treasury can be seen. It’s around 35/40 minutes while you go but may take longer time during return as the it’s bit steeper in some places. Take water bottles with you. And please please take a good guide because every spot, stone or curve has some significance and good guide can give you better information.

A beautiful slot-canyon that reveals something new around every turn. There are ancient carvings along the way, remains of Roman road, and water drainage work. The Treasury is the prime objective but it is made far more impressive by the dramatic approach.

Walking through t he Siq is like entering another world. This narrow, winding gorge—about 1.2 km long—leads you to the Treasury with walls towering up to 80 m. The colors, shadows, and curves of the sandstone make it a magical walk. The stroll is leisurely, and every turn builds anticipation until the breathtaking reveal of the Treasury at the end. Along the way, you can spot ancient carvings, water channels, and Nabatean engineering that once carried water into the city. The Siq was not just a path but part of the Petra experience itself. The silence, the natural beauty, and the sense of history—it felt like walking into a hidden kingdom!
Sharad S — Google review
The first interesting part of the archaeological site. From the Visitor center to the entrance to this impressive canyon, you have to walk about 2.5 km (there are a lot of locals who offer mules for rent). The canyon is slightly more than 1000 m long and ends at the foot of the impressive Treasury. The vertical walls of red stone are impressive. The road is flat and easy to travel. Very crowded, there are hundreds of tourists, some coming, others leaving.

It's always beautiful to walk in this valley. The road is narrow and the rocks are tall. A lot of different colors of the rocks are also stunning. And after all there is waiting for the beauty of the whole journey. The most famous and iconic building from the whole country. Thank you🤩

It literally means "the shaft." Walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The entrance to the city of Petra is through narrow gorge, flanked on either side by soaring high cliff. The long walk through the canyon is an exciting journey that is worth a visit not only for the historical treasures that lie beneath but also for being one of the unique geological landscapes in the world.

The Treasury, also known as the rock-carved temple, is a remarkable site located in Petra, Jordan. This elaborate facade is believed to have been a mausoleum for the Nabataean King Aretas III around 100 BCE to 200 CE. The Hellenistic craftsmanship of the Treasury's facade is truly astonishing and has captivated visitors for centuries. It has gained international fame, particularly due to its appearance in the Indiana Jones movie 'The Last Crusade.'
Amazing and worth the trip. You can't enter and it's around 2km walk from the visitor center and you can walk down and enjoy the views. Take the electric buggy back to the visitor centre. Avoid warm periods. Make sure you take your ID with you as entry fee differ from one nationality to another. Jordanians get the cheapest entry fee Arabs pay JOD 30 Non-Jordanians and non-Arabs pay JOD 50 Take a tour guide unless you did your research and know what you are looking for.

Part of my bucket list, this is one of those places in Earth that you have to experience in person. Simply majestic! It's unfortunate that much of this culture is still unknown. Not too busy these days, Jordan tourism is down due to the close war.
Guillermo Q — Google review
I came here at the beginning of October. The sunrise may come early, but there’s no sunlight reaching The Treasury at that time. If you come from 8 - 9 AM, you can see it fully lit. There are 3 spots to take photos: 1. The stone in front of the Treasury, located on the right side of the entrance (many people queue here bcs it’s free). 2. The middle view with a red carpet in front of the Treasury, to access this spot, you have to pay 10 JD, whether you take pictures or not. 3. The top of the rock opposite the Treasury, which takes about 1h to reach (around 5 km). It involves a bit of hiking, but it’s free and worth it. Make sure to do this on a separate day, as you won’t want to miss the Monastery on the main trail. Alternatively, you can visit the Monastery and then return by using the paid car service before 6 PM. Ticket: 1 Day visit: 50JD 2 Day visit: 55JD (actually I think 1.5days is totally enough)

Visiting Petra was a dream come true and a highlight of my travel bucket list! This magnificent ancient city is truly one of those places you must experience in person; the sheer scale and beauty are simply majestic. Walking through the winding Siq and arriving at the iconic Treasury took my breath away. It’s unfortunate that so much of this incredible culture remains relatively unknown to many travelers. Given the current global situation, tourism in Jordan has seen a decline, making it a perfect time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site without the usual crowds. The journey to Petra is part of the experience itself. It's about a 2 km walk from the visitor center, allowing you to soak in the stunning views and surreal landscape along the way. If you prefer, you can take an electric buggy back to the visitor center, which is a convenient option after a long day of exploration. One of the standout moments of my trip was attending the Petra by Night event. The experience was nothing short of magical, with the path to the Treasury illuminated by hundreds of candles, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Listening to the gentle music while surrounded by the illuminated ruins was unforgettable. Petra is truly amazing and absolutely worth the trip. If you ever get the chance, make sure to add it to your itinerary. It’s a treasure that leaves a lasting impression!

The Treasury is Petra’s most iconic façade — a monumental rock-carved temple front hewn directly from the rose-red sandstone. Approaching through the narrow Siq heightens the drama: the gorge opens and the ornate Hellenistic-influenced façade suddenly appears, richly decorated with Corinthian columns, sculpted figures, and detailed friezes. Believed to date from the 1st century BC and carved by the Nabataeans, the structure blends local stonework with classical motifs. It’s spectacular for photos, best seen in the soft morning or late afternoon light, and remains one of the most unforgettable sights in Petra.
Antony L — Google review
An absolutely breathtaking wonder of the world! The moment you walk through the Siq and catch your first glimpse of The Treasury, it feels like stepping into a dream. The scale, the intricate carvings, and the way the sunlight hits the sandstone façade are truly unforgettable. Pictures and videos can never capture the magic—you have to be here to feel it. The atmosphere is incredible, filled with history, culture, and a sense of awe. Standing in front of this ancient masterpiece, you can’t help but imagine the Nabataeans who built it over 2,000 years ago. The details carved into the rock are unbelievably well-preserved, and the energy of the place is inspiring. The journey itself is as memorable as the destination—the walk through the Siq with its towering cliffs makes the reveal of the Treasury even more dramatic. I highly recommend visiting early in the morning for fewer crowds and the best light for photos, but honestly, any time of day is worth it. This is not just a visit—it’s an experience of a lifetime. If you are in Jordan, you simply cannot miss Petra, and The Treasury is its crown jewel. Whether you are a history lover, an adventurer, or just someone looking for something unforgettable, this place will leave you speechless. I encourage everyone—locals and travelers alike—to visit and witness this masterpiece of human history. Truly one of the world’s greatest treasures!
Rami ا — Google review
My visit to The Treasury at Petra was absolutely unforgettable. Nothing really prepares you for that first moment when the narrow Siq opens up and this massive, beautifully carved façade appears in front of you. The details on the structure are incredible — centuries of history carved into the rose-red rock. It’s truly a sight that leaves you in awe. Go early in the morning if you can. The walk is cooler, the lighting is perfect for photos, and you’ll avoid the big tour groups. It also gives you a better chance to take clean, nice pictures without crowds. After reaching the Treasury, you can pay about 10 dinar to climb the stairs to a higher viewpoint. The view from above is amazing, and if you want, you can even engage one of the local “photographers” to follow you up. They know all the best angles and will take beautiful photos for you. A tip of around 5–10 dinar per person is expected, but honestly, it’s worth it for the shots and the experience. As you walk through the area, there are many souvenir stalls. If you’re not planning to buy anything, it’s best to politely decline directly. Don’t say “maybe later” or “I’ll think about it” — they will continue following you. A simple, friendly “no thank you” is enough. At the entrance, you’ll be offered a “complimentary” horse ride for the first 2km. It’s optional, but tipping is required. If you’re not keen, just decline politely — our guide mentioned that ignoring them completely is considered rude in their culture. On the way back, if you’re too tired to walk the full distance, there is a buggy service near the Treasury that costs 15 dinar per person to bring you back to the main entrance. Very convenient after a long day of walking! Just note that this buggy station only covers the route near the Treasury. There’s another buggy station inside that takes you deeper into Petra, not back out. Overall, Petra’s Treasury is a must-visit and absolutely deserves a full 5 stars. The views, the history, and the whole experience are truly incredible. Highly recommend!

It is simply a Must in a beautiful landscape, but - hey - without having seen it we may survive as well...;-) If you can, don't visit after 10am for all the crowd arriving

Part of my bucket list, this is one of those places in Earth that you have to experience in person. Simply majestic! It's unfortunate that much of this culture is still unknown. Not too busy these days, Jordan tourism is down due to the close war.

Petra is an iconic 2000-year-old city in Jordan, featuring the impressive 45m-high Al Khazneh carved into the red mountain rock. Built by the Nabataeans in the 3rd century BC, this sandstone city is a World Heritage Site and a must-see destination in Jordan. Visitors typically spend at least two days exploring its palaces, temples, tombs, storerooms, and stables carved from soft stone cliffs.
amazing world heritage site! Start early in the morning at 06:00 when the gate is opened. You avoid a crowded place at the most important sites and can enjoy them nearly alone. After that go for the less crowded hiking trails during the day when all the coaches and groups arrive around 09:00 to 10:00. Parking in front of the main gate is free. Walking from the main gate to the Treasury House takes you 30-40min. If have the Jordan Pass you have to grab an official ticket with qr-code at the main building. Avoid all the unofficial guide offerings on the road and in the city. If you need a guide, organize at the main gate. There are several (food) shops, toilets and two restaurants along the way. Please respect this place. Follow the instructions for paths etc. Many people ignore them and throw their waste away. Don‘t act like silly tourists or go home.

Mixed Review: So Petra itself and the ancient city is stunning. When you walk through the end of the Siq and the light hits the Treasury just right it will make your heart flutter 5/5 ⭐️ & absolutely breath taking. However, how the the site itself is being managed is SO disappointing. There are countless electric golf carts ripping up and down the Siq between the Visitors Centre and the Treasury. People walking are constantly dodging incoming carts that have no speed limit. It truly takes away from the magic of the site. Also majoirty of the Siq has been paved, it’s too bad because the original site would have been so interesting and beautiful. Accross from the Treasury there are tourist junk shops set up and people hassling you to buy there cheap made tourist garbage. Again, very disappointed to see it considering the history of the site and how much more beautiful it could be. All that being said, go in prepared and knowing what to expect, I still think it was beautiful and mind blowing but be prepared for golf carts everywhere. We arrived at the Treasury at 11:40am and it was packed. After walking the site for a couple hours we returned back to the Treasury around 3pm and there were only a few other couples there making it more peaceful and perfect for pictures. Site price is included in your Jordan Pass BUY YOUR JORDAN PASS BEFORE ARRIVING IN JORDAN (worth every penny)

Incredible - so much more than the famous Treasury. Remains of an ancient city with sophisticated water management for floods and supply. Tombs, temples public spaces and residences carved into beautiful and unique geology.

Amazing is the only word. A true wonder of the world. Spent 10 hours walking in the scorching heat - explored The monastary, High place of Sacrifice and Al Khubtha trail all in a single day from 6am-3pm. Don't miss the Royal tombs too, it's great. I carried enough water bottles, dates that kept me energized through out the day.

Super interesting and very impressive. It covers a very large area. To see everything you need a whole day and at least 3 hours of walking. But you can also just walk there and back for an hour and still see impressive things.

This place is amazing it is really worth calling one of the seven wonders of the world , the weather was hot although I visited in November , the entrance fees are different according to your nationality, there are small cart rides that you can pay for if you don’t want to walk all the way , you feel like you are in a movie or out of this world

Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, is a vast ancient city carved into rose-red rock, and exploring it takes time. The walk from the Visitor Center through the Siq to the Treasury is about 2 km (20–30 minutes). Reaching higher sites like the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice usually takes 1–2 hours, though donkey rides are available if you prefer not to hike the steep paths. Ticket prices depend on how many days you visit: • 1-day pass: 50 JD • 2-day pass: 55 JD • 3-day pass: 60 JD With its massive tombs, temples, and dramatic desert landscapes, Petra fully deserves its Wonder status—an unforgettable place whether you explore it on foot or ride a donkey up to the viewpoints.
Antony L — Google review
one of the seven wonders of the world and currently my 6th one. one more left in mexico for me. this place was more beautiful than i thought. only reason i took one star off was the amount of sellers trying to sell horse and mule rides. i did get convinced and it was some what worth it but i paid 105 dinars for a horse and mule ride. only the mule ride for 35 dinars was worth it but the 70 dinar horse ride was absurd. i feel scammed. but i did get views better than the average person there because i was taken to routes only accessible by horse and the mule ride made reaching and leaving the monetary easier with the limited time i had. overall it was good but dang i feel scammed. but its ok.

The Monastery, also known as Ad Deir, is a remarkable rock monastery and spiritual site that dates back to 3 B.C. It is a monumental Nabataean tomb located in Petra. The hike to reach the Monastery is quite challenging but definitely worth it for the breathtaking view it offers. The facade of the Monastery, carved into the sandstone mountain, leaves visitors speechless with its grandeur.
Amazing experience, from here you can see the surrounding lands and mountains that carry into neighbouring nations. The detail of the monastery is sensational and unique as upon arrival Celine Dion was playing out of the monastery from massive speakers. It’s a memory I’ll never forgot. There’s also a shop when you arrive, be prepared for a hike however as it is steep at times and you can’t ride there on golf cart like other sites. This is an amazing hike, it will take you around 30/45 minutes and it is steep along the way there’s plenty of vendors conveniently placed to offer you some water or other drinks. It’s 100% worth the journey though!

Don’t miss sunrise at The Treasury (Al-Khazneh) and sunset at The Monastry (Al-Dayr). It’s kinda worthy but make sure you wanna go with others when the dark comes.

Visiting the Monastery (Ad-Deir) in Petra was an unforgettable experience. This iconic structure is one of Petra's most impressive sights, with its massive facade carved into the rock. The journey to get there is quite an adventure in itself, and I visited in January when the weather was cool and pleasant. The hike to the Monastery involves a substantial climb, with around 800 steps to the top. For someone not particularly fit, it can be quite tiring, but the effort is well worth it. Along the way, there are breathtaking views and several spots to rest. There are also vendors offering refreshments, which is a welcome sight after the climb. Upon reaching the Monastery, the sheer size and beauty of the structure are awe-inspiring. It's less crowded than the Treasury, allowing for a more peaceful experience. The surrounding area also offers stunning views over the valley, providing excellent photo opportunities. Despite the challenging hike, visiting the Monastery is a must for anyone exploring Petra. The sense of accomplishment and the incredible views make it a highlight of the trip. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring plenty of water, and take your time. Highly recommended for those who can manage the climb!
Ter N — Google review
The Monastery (AKA AlDayr in Arabic) is one of the hidden gems and less visited places in Petra. It is somewhere in the middle between the start of the Little Petra hiking trail and the Qasr Albint in the ancient Petra City. If you come to the Monastery from the Little Petra hiking trail, it is a 4 KM walk that is moderate in terms of difficulty. This is the easier of the 2 paths. However, if you walk from the Qasr Albint, it is shorter (around 3 KMs), yet is an uphill of stairs. Either path is served with direction signs, and with kiosks if you need to buy anything. I would recommend that you start from the Little Petra hiking trail, walk to the Monastery, and then continue to Qasr Albint. One other easier option is to take a donkey ride from Qasr Albint to the Monastery, and then return back to Qasr Albint walking (or another donkey ride). The Monastery looks very similar to the Treasury. The area is served with cafeterias and plenty of photography spots. This visit is a 1-day visit that you can combine with a Little Petra tour plus exploring Qasr Albint and some of the surrounding stops, and maybe have a lunch at one of the 2 restaurants close to Qasr Albint. The Monastery is free to visit, but you’ll still have to buy a ticket if you are heading back to Qasr Albint and the Ancient Petra City.

After a rewarding hike of over 800 rock-cut steps, you’re greeted by an enormous façade carved into the mountain—quiet, majestic, and beautifully preserved. Its sheer size and peaceful setting make it feel even more impressive than the Treasury. The panoramic views from the nearby viewpoints are unforgettable, and the whole experience is a perfect blend of adventure, history, and natural beauty. A true highlight of Petra.

Breathtaking to see while in Petra. While there I highly recommend some of the viewpoints nearby to see monastery from afar and at an angle. Well worth the hike up.
Jimus D — Google review
The hike isn’t that bad!go to the free overlook at top of the hill. It’s an amazing place to chill!
Sebastian L — Google review
Totally worth the walk up all the stairs. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and take water and snacks as it’s a long walk from the entrance. It’s about an hour from the treasury without rest stops. We didn’t have time to sit down for a drink and enjoy the view as we were rushed as part of a tour group but have a full day in Petra so you can enjoy the beautiful sights without rushing. Photos include the walk up to and views along the way.

Timna Park is a vast and captivating park featuring ancient mineshafts, a dry and rocky terrain, and impressive clifftops. The park offers breathtaking views of Jordan and Egypt, as well as stunning pinkish-orange mountains. It's an ideal spot for relaxation, snorkeling, hiking in the nearby area, or even joining a Petra tour from Eilat. Additionally, the southern section of the Israel Trail provides challenging routes with unique spiritual centers and desert trails.
Beautiful desert park, 20 minutes drive from Eilat. Mainly car trails with sightseeing or trekking stops, historic sites, an artificial lake, a restaurant and activities for the kids. Accessible in extreme heat or pleasant weather alike. A lot of the park is wheelchair accessible.

Amazing landscape, many things to see and trails to hike. Very well kept park. But be ware that you need to manage your own food (have with you there). Many places around close early, especially on Friday.

World oldest copper mine, in the middle of the desert. Plentiful to see, from natural wonders, rock formations, natural arches, to historical sights, such as rock carving, Egyptian temple of Athor and Egyptian underground mines, some of which you can enter and crawl in. You must come by car, there is no public transportation inside the park, but there is a well defined, well kept and made cycling route. The fee covers you for 7 days of entries, and you get a dial in code to enter the park anytime, even during tourist center closing. Do not miss the visit center, spend at keaat 40mns there, the exhibitions are well worth it, and check with the Ranger on site for guidance based on your interests and stamina. Haza was in charge that day, and outstanding guide. Thanks to his pointers we could define a trip easy for our 7 years old, with a lot of small exciting climbs and go to a massive sand dune. Near the lake / restaurant, , there is a coloured sand bottle filling station, great gifts to all visitors. From all around you have wonderful views on Israel, and over the border toward "Palestine" (aka Jordan) Do not forget, this is the desert, closed shoes are mandatory, and bring water, the only refilling station is at the very end, at the lake.
FFM9 — Google review
Beautiful nature and cool things to look at. It's just crazy what some rain in a desert can do. The park is well preserved and you can go through by car. You then have to walk just a little bit to get close to the thing. You can also do a bit longer walkings, where you get to see interesting nature. Sometimes, offroad offers you more. Unfortunately, the tabernacle was closed. I don't know if it is always closed or just when we've been there in November. If you can, buy your ticket online. There you get a combination ticket with the Underwater Marine Observatory. We didn't succeed in buying the ticket. And we don't know if it is available for people with a non Israeli credit card or phone number.

The visit made sence, in a weird way. You think you have seen the mountains, and the park seems like a boring extend to the same mountains, but its not! Friendly people, visualization of the ancient story of the place, and much more makes it worth the visit. Much of the park is accessible by car, which makes it possible to visit, even on the hottest days. There is animals if you look in the shade of the lonely trees. I recommend it!☺️

Dolphin Reef Beach, located beyond Eilat's port area, offers a unique experience for animal and nature enthusiasts. Visitors can observe a pod of bottle-nosed dolphins in their natural habitat, playing, hunting, and socializing. The private beach provides all-day access with amenities such as beach chairs and umbrellas where waiters serve guests. The main attraction is the opportunity to swim, dive, and snorkel among the captive dolphins.
Absolutely loved it! The dolphins were so cute and the entrance was gorgeous! Defenitatly recommend if you are coming to Eilat. I would recommend to come early in the morning if you want to choose a good spot to spend the rest of the day. It gets crowded but there are still a lot of places under the trees to hide from the sun. The water was super clear and security was okay.
Alex D — Google review
Pretty good beach but bit of a scam because it says on the website that you can swim with the dolphins but actually you can just put your feet in and not actually swim but it was a pretty beach nonetheless
Zevi C — Google review
Excellent spot to come in the morning and spend all day here. Really enjoyed it! The dolphins can be a quest to see but with some patience and luck- you will!
Lev K — Google review
Suchhh a beautifull place to watch dolphinsss, the dolphins are free to wander in the ocean which beautifully symbolized how free they are and just how they love their care takers enough to come back all the time to hang around us! Beuaitufl resort right next to a very aesthethic looking wooden structure with a sight and a bar and places to sit every where on, on the wooden water floating structure u also get great and beautiful ocean views and can see the dolphins in the big circle! Before the wooden structures there's of course a beach u can chill in and just wander around shops and soveniers 💕✨
Liel I — Google review
Very beautiful tourist attraction! We saw 3 dolphins here! It’s about a luck to see them comming from the open sea! Student discount on the entry. Very delicious food in restaurant!
Vláďa — Google review
I have very mixed feelings about this place. We do end up here every time we come to Eilat and I like that the dolphins are free to come and go as they please BUT it’s very expensive and crowded. You just catch short glimpses of the dolphins (true it’s because they aren’t penned in which is a good thing). All of the activities cost extra and the prices are extremely high. I dunno, it’s only a so/so experience. We’ve had a much better time at some of the free beaches. The food is typical beach food with typical beach prices although I will say the Greek salad I had for lunch was quite tasty. I guess I would say, this doesn’t need to go on your Must Do list but if you’re out of activities and you need a few hours to kill, this isn’t terrible.
Rachel S — Google review
Very nice beach that combines everything. The price a bit high for family but its worth it if you didn't visit there. The food in the restaurant is great and the service is good. The relaxing place inside requires extra price and very expensive I should mention.. The dolphins are amazing and there is explanation in Hebrew and English. Most of the place is shaded and even if it full there's enough chairs and place for everyone:)
Elad — Google review
Great place, similar to an oasis. I would recommend to come early in the morning if you want to choose a good spot to spend the rest of the day. It gets crowded but there are still a lot of places under the trees to hide from the sun.

Eilat's Coral Beach Nature Reserve is a stunning combination of a beach and a large coral reef, making it an ideal destination for snorkeling and swimming. As the northernmost shallow-water coral reef in the world, this national park offers a vibrant marine life with colorful fish and astonishing plants. The reserve provides convenient access to the reef along with essential beach amenities such as showers, restrooms, and even a snack bar.
The reserve is well-maintained, clean, and organized, with food shops and equipment rental available. While the price is a bit high compared to free nearby spots, the underwater experience is spectacular- vibrant corals, colorful marine life, and plenty to see. The area is very accessible, and safety is taken seriously with lifeguards on duty. Showers and restrooms are available and well-kept. Most seating areas are shaded with white canopies, which helps, though it can still get extremely hot in July and August. Some downsides include ongoing renovations, which limit access to newer sections and make planning a snorkeling route a bit challenging. The designated swimming areas are small and enclosed, but beyond the bridge, there are vast open spaces where you can really explore and see a lot of beautiful marine life. Overall, it’s more comfortable and enjoyable to snorkel in a well-supervised, maintained area than in unofficial sites, and the beautiful coral and abundant sea creatures make it well worth a visit. * Pros: Clean and organized, lifeguards on duty, beautiful corals and marine life, showers and restrooms, accessible. * Cons: Entry fee is high compared to free alternatives, renovations limit some areas, enclosed swimming zones can feel small, it can get very hot in summer.

Beautiful beach. Very clean. Tidy + with all facilities to enjoy the amazing Red Sea. It is considered a national park. Not for nothing. Once you enter the water, you can swim with some of the most exotic fish +. Once you put your head into the water you see the Wonder of nature underwater. It is very friendly for kids and for families and we could find ourselves spending the whole day from morning till night over there
Erez M — Google review
Although its one of the best places to see corals and fish in Eilat. The site could be a bit more developed. There are not many showers and only one dock to enter the water and relatively small place for swimming. With limited hours of operation and mediocre services this beautiful natural reserve should get an upgrade and the site could invest some of the entrance fee in improvments.
Lior S — Google review
The world northernmost coral reef, really! Right at your foot steps in eilat, Jordan has none. This beach has the advantage of not being overcrowded and all facilities are here, showers, toilets, bar, and a small nature reserve shop and rental services if you forgot your snorkeling equipment. Note, there are no lifeguard, only park rangers, but there is a space by the beach, in shallow water for poor swimmers Plant to bring some water shoes for the beach side. The reef is accessible via a long pier, and a large staircase leading easily to the water. Then it is the wonders of the red sea!
FFM9 — Google review
One of the good beaches in Eilat Clean, had toilet, shop, walk route, bridge directly to Red see with excitement view of corals, different fish types It's needed some payment, check possible options before coming there It's better come with your own equipment Pay attention - NO SAFE GUARDS

Our preferred place in Eilat! Every time we are in Eilat we go to this place, the best still and ever. Actually we were there every day, not a problem as we slept at the Yam Suf Hotel, only a 5 minute walk to there. 1. the beach is incredibly looked after 2. The Reserve guards are watching all the time for trespassers so very little chance something bad could happen to you while swimming 3. and of course the corals and the fish. Yes the coral are less beautiful than in the previous years, the mini tsunami a few years ago did damage the reef, but still they are interesting and the fish are till there and still super beautiful. Don't "FOMO" it, would you?
Dan M — Google review
Snorkelling is ok. Nice fish and a bit of coral. If you've been in good reef places, you won't be impressed. But if in Eilat, it's worth a visit but a bit expensive for what it offers.
Solomon K — Google review
Great place. Amazing biodiversity, the beach is nice and convenient. The corals are very close, and you can almost touch them (but you shouldn't). If you don't swim it is still nice to look on the fish and corals from the pier. There are lockers with USB charging stations, and the place is very relaxing.

Underwater Observatory Park

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
The Underwater Observatory Park in Eilat is a remarkable marine attraction located within the Coral Reserve. It features an impressive underwater aquarium where visitors can marvel at a diverse array of aquatic species and a large coral colony. The park also offers various activities such as the 'Creatures of the Deep' 3D presentation, sea turtle pool, ocean simulator, and 'The World of Sharks' exhibition.
Would spend there all day. An established place, but it keeps renovating all the time. The shark aquarium is so relaxing and exiting at the same time! The underwater observatory facility is a must. Note- a single ticket is good for a couple of days, so if you want to visit more than once (and you should) plan accordingly.

What a great chance to sit and watch fish for hours! Between the underwater observatory and the aquarium we were really pleased with the experience. Go early for quieter viewing without crowds. There was plenty of parking when they first opened.
Yehuda G — Google review
Good for little kids, probably less for older ones. The place is trying hard to remain relevant. The underwater observetory is a little old and not really that impressive anymore. However you also get an impressive shark pool and some stingray and sea turtles exhibits. The 3d movie was impressive (but short. 18 min total). I've certainly been to better aquariums, but this is decent and good for kids.
Gidon S — Google review
A real fun place for kids, but also for the sea animal lovers. We had a guided tour and it was perfect and well explained. I enjoyed every bit of it. I would have enjoyed more if the glasses were a bit cleaner. Nevertheless, it was fun. PS: The 3D movie was cherry on the top
Anindita D — Google review
Wonderful. From walking through the lively coral reef to the 3D cinema which is unlike any other I have witnessed. The screen goes above the head so that it can be protected from any point in the room and looks like the whole is above you. This place is a must see for young and old. It is a beautifully maintained park, with a big variety of coral. The underwater observatory is absolutely amazing. The water of the red see is also accommodating the coral beautifully. The aqua dome is also an experience like none other. The whole is turned into a 3D video and it literally feels like you are under the ocean and touching the sea life yourself. Great place to visit, both educational and fun. its really impressive to see all the unique creatures that live in the ocean. dedicate at least several hours to the visit.

This place gets it! It's all about the service and people. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Very clean place. Food was good and fair priced. The exhibits were all well maintained. Especially with children, this is a very nice all day activity.

Fabulous experience! I love that they put effort into the smallest details like trash cans shaped as sharks. The cruise )15 minutes long) is also totally worth it.

We’ve been to aquariums all over the world and this isn’t the glossiest or the most high tech. But my kids love it and beg to come back every time we are in Eilat. There’s lots of different things to do that keep everyone entertained and you cannot beat seeing fish in their actual habitat. We love this charming little place. The 3-D movie was a huge hit!

Tiran Island

Mentioned on
1 list
Island
Nature & Parks
Tiran Island is an uninhabited military island spanning 31 square miles, located in a narrow strait surrounded by coral reefs and dive sites. The island forms part of Ras Mohammed National Park, covering an area of 80 square kilometers. Although daily boat trips from Sharm-El Sheikh are available, the island remains deserted and inspires solitude. Snorkeling spots abound around the island and most tours cover these areas.
Tiran Island: A Jewel in the Red Sea Crown Nestled at the entrance of the Strait of Tiran, where the azure waters of the Red Sea meet the Gulf of Aqaba, lies the enchanting Tiran Island. This sun-kissed gem, once administered by Egypt and now under Saudi Arabian sovereignty, beckons travelers with promises of adventure, marine wonders, and historical intrigue. A Maritime Crossroads Tiran Island’s strategic significance transcends its modest size—an area of approximately 80 square kilometers. It forms the narrowest section of the Strait of Tiran, a vital sea passage connecting the bustling port of Aqaba in Jordan to the vibrant city of Eilat in Israel. Here, ancient trade routes converged, and modern vessels sail, weaving a tapestry of commerce and culture. A Diver’s Paradise For scuba enthusiasts, Tiran Island is a sanctuary. Beneath its crystalline surface lies a kaleidoscope of marine life—vibrant corals, elusive seahorses, and schools of tropical fish. Dive into the embrace of the Red Sea, and you’ll encounter the Jackson Reef, the Woodhouse Reef, and the Thomas Reef—each a living canvas of color and movement. The currents dance, revealing shipwrecks and secrets from centuries past. The Ghosts of History Tiran Island’s past echoes through time. During the Suez Crisis, it briefly fell into Israeli hands, and from 1967 to 1982, it remained under Israeli control after the Six-Day War. The island’s sands have absorbed the footsteps of warriors, traders, and pilgrims—a silent witness to the ebb and flow of empires. A Playground for Water Adventurers Whether you’re snorkeling, windsurfing, or sailing, Tiran Island invites you to explore its shores. Glide over coral gardens, where parrotfish dart and angelfish pirouette. Feel the wind in your hair as you windsurf across the turquoise expanse. And when the sun dips below the horizon, gather around a beachside fire, sharing tales of the day’s exploits. Chisholm Point: Where Land Meets Sea At Chisholm Point, the island’s rocky cape, you’ll witness the union of earth and water. Here, the waves caress ancient stones, and seabirds wheel overhead. As the sun paints the sky in hues of gold and crimson, you’ll feel the pulse of nature—the heartbeat of Tiran Island. A Journey Through Sovereignty Tiran Island’s fate has been debated, its borders redrawn. In 2017, Egypt officially ceded sovereignty to Saudi Arabia, marking a new chapter in its storied history. Yet, as travelers step ashore, they sense that this island belongs to more than nations—it belongs to the tides, the winds, and the dreams of those who seek its shores. Practical Details Access: Boat excursions from Sharm El Sheikh offer a gateway to Tiran Island. Activities: Snorkel, dive, or simply bask in the sun. Remember: Respect the delicate ecosystem; leave only footprints. As the sun sets over Tiran Island, casting shadows on its ancient rocks, you’ll feel the pull of the sea—a timeless call to explore, to connect, and to cherish this jewel in the Red Sea’s crown. May the waves carry your wanderlust, and may Tiran Island forever enchant. 🌞🤿

With its medieval charm and attentive staff, this hidden gem offers exceptional hospitality. Guests rave about the delicious flavors of the food and the impressive selection of beverages, from refreshing smoothies to a full bar.
A medieval castle nested in the mountains overlooking the bluest waters you will ever sea. A one of a kind relaxing experience. Quite, relaxing, comfortable, and super clean for a one day trip. Close to Newebai" Dahab and Sharm, the place is definitely worth the ride. The food is slow cooked and must be ordered in advance, but it is incredibly tasty. You need to book in advance, a bit pricy, but worth it.

Great place in Nuweiba. We took the lamb shoulder, its delicious! Strict rules but the place is so worth visiting! There's an amazing artificial pond for relaxation. Music is nice. The views are breathtaking. It is really recommended if you are in the area. The Margeritas are highly recommended!

A Magical Hidden Gem in Sinai Castle Zaman is truly a breathtaking experience. The scenery is out of this world. Perched above the Red Sea with panoramic views of the mountains and water, it feels like stepping into a serene dream. The atmosphere and ambiance are peaceful, relaxed, and so unique. Soft, calming music plays in the background, adding to the tranquil, magical vibe of the whole place. Every corner is designed with intention. One of my favorite parts was exploring the “dungeon”. It felt like a treasure adventure. Hidden below the castle, it is filled with beautifully handcrafted glasses, plates, bowls, and other unique pieces all for sale. I ordered a slow-cooked veal leg dish. It was served with veggies, molokhya, and roz. Absolutely delicious, and one of the most satisfying meals I have had in Sinai. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and the welcome drink was a lovely touch that made the experience even more special. Even the bathrooms were spotless and beautifully done, with natural materials and no cold metal anywhere in sight. Every detail reflects care, artistry, and harmony with nature. A special thank you to Lucy for her professionalism, kindness, and for making my time there so joyful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique escape with incredible views, authentic food, and peaceful energy. Thank you, Castle Zaman, for an unforgettable day. ✨

El Bells - Blue Hole

Swimming pool
Nature & Parks
El Bells - Blue Hole is a renowned dive site located 8km north of Dahab, Egypt. The Blue Hole is a striking sinkhole that plunges straight down, possibly reaching depths of 130m. While experienced technical divers can explore the deeper sections, there's plenty to see near the surface with abundant marine life around the outer lip. Snorkeling and diving are accessible from El Bells without harming the reef, thanks to a mini-canyon nearby.
Simply serenity. Great calm warm blue waters. Nice servers but not much to offer in this secluded spot. Not easy to get to. Bumpy road then a boat ride then another bumpy ride.
Ahmad A — Google review
Perhaps this «El Bells» is hyped/praised too much? Too much mystic about it? The "chimney" turns out to be a deep vertical crack in the dropping wall, leading downward to 30+ meters. It is open out to the sea all the way, so you practically don't swim in a «chimney» such many have thought it should be.
Vinh N — Google review
One of the most beautiful places in the world for diving and snorkeling.
Yossi E — Google review
I like when I dive through the tunnel. It takes around 3 minutes from the surface to the exit of El bells. You need to keep equalise as it go deep directly. But it’s not that scaring and difficult. Just very narrow. Be careful not to break anything. When you exit, you will dive follow the cliff to Blue hole. If the weather is good, that part is so beautiful! I have no photo and videos as I lost Osmo4 at here. Hope you to find mine! Lol
Mothusi — Google review
Try hiking the mountains next to the fast boat meeting point. The view is magical up there. Taking a fast boat to Abu Galoum from here is very unorganized, its not safe for pregnant women, children or anyone with back problems. It costs EGP 120 per person for two-way trip to Abu Galoum excluding car rides.
Passant E — Google review
Just before the boats to Abu Galoum, there are some wooden posts: that's the bells. Here you can enter for snorkeling/diving to the Blue Hole, without destroying the reef, as there is a mini-canyon. When you look down, it's really deep right away, its great. From here you can follow the reef up to where it slopes down, where you go over the reef into the blue hole, which you can exit at the stairs. The reef here is probably even nicer than the actual blue hole.

Dolphina offers a good show that may not be entirely unique, but still enjoyable. The dolphin experience is described as amazing and an opportunity to fulfill a childhood dream. Visitors get to swim with the well-trained and respected dolphins, creating an awe-inspiring experience. However, there are concerns about high prices for photos and some areas being dirty. Despite this, it's considered a great day out with fantastic experiences for both children and adults alike.
Very good value for money. Clean seats to sit on. Good quality dolphin show and tricks. Went to sea world in Abu Dhabi last year and this for the money was a great quality show
Jay P — Google review
It was good show, had one seal and six dolphins. Its clearly visible that some dolphins are better trained but every one of them participate in show. It was not expensive even though as foreigner you pay more than twice of what locals pay but its still ok. As it was about two times cheaper to do it ourselves from what our tour operator priced such excursion.
Marius B — Google review
I took my family here while on holiday, was a great show. Don’t need tickets in advance and no need to over pay to get them from taxi drivers or hotels. There’s also a parrot, flamingos, turtles, sea lions and a monkey to have a picture with. Show is good. One of the trainers is kind of the star of the show and puts the others to shame with his awesome energy. While the pool is a bit small the animals seem well cared for. Sit in the shade as the show is long and outdoors. Music is far louder than it needs to be. Prices for refreshments are reasonable. Well worth the visit.
Kurt T — Google review
A visit with children is a must. The dolphins are very well-trained and the show is engaging. The duration is appropriate, and the cost is reasonable.
Marek — Google review
Loved the dolphins and workers who works in there.. We made reservation day before and when we arrived, we got informed that they don't have any info about online reservations that day.. so they can just squeeze us in next free slot, what is more then hour after.. 3 kids ..1 hour.. ok, things happen, but I would think that worker in front would still need to be more apologetic about this situation, and maybe offer even some free photo at the end or something.. We had 30min swimming with Dolphins and I loved every second of it.. Take your own towels with you! We forgot.. :) Then offcourse picture and video selling.. but it was not so bad.. 1picture to put on your phone 7$ and full video 47$.. if you want printed picture.. 11$..
Signe S — Google review
Very nice place. I hope that dolphins are happy. The show was very nice, sometimes a little bit busy and I have problém to see everything. I recommend. I was there with travel agency.
Martina K — Google review
an activity that leaves you speechless, regardless of age! I recommend it with all confidence. The only disappointment is the price of the pictures, a steal! you can't ask for 100 euros for a few pictures and a video! But that's the policy in Egypt, everything is overpriced. I recommend you go, regardless of age! ♥️✌️

Geologic Formations
Makhtesh Ramon is a striking geological feature in Israel's Negev desert, stretching 40 kilometers long. Often compared to the Grand Canyon, it offers a remote and awe-inspiring experience. Visitors can take guided Jeep tours around the crater's edge for breathtaking views into the world's largest erosion crater and descend 300 meters into its colorful sandstone walls. The area is rich in history, with evidence of its formation dating back 220 million years.
The Mizpe Ramon crater is the closest most of us will ever get to feel like we are exploring another planet. It's a surreal geologic experience. Taking a four wheel drive in late afternoon is a must do. If you are in Israel you need to do this crater. It's easy to get to by taking a train to Bersheeva and then a bus to the small town of Mizpe Ramon. We spent 2 nights in a hotel on the rim so had plenty of opportunity to photograph sunrise, sunset, and moonrise. The hotel had a grand all you can eat breakfast.

Amongst the must-see areas of Israel! Absolutely stunning views, many hiking, 4 by 4 vehicle, and biking trails everywhere! Just be aware of the firing zones of the military.
Shaya V — Google review
A stunning spot for stargazing. Even in summer, nights are very cold because it’s in the desert hot during the day but chilly at night, so bring sweaters. Totally worth visiting to watch the shooting stars in August
Shlomit M — Google review
8.28.17 - We only drove through the crater and that alone was pretty cool. However, the views from the road heading down into the crater from the Israeli side is inspiring. The nature center is very informative and the rangers are relatively nice, but it might take a little bit of effort to warm them up. There are nature trails you can take, but make sure you arrive early enough otherwise it can be a dangerous path where you can fall off the edge or run into a family of goats/rams (something we saw).
A L — Google review
Looking like a surreal place from a Science Fiction movie, the Makhtesh Ramon is an extraordinary nature sight in an otherwise quite boring surrounding. You can eather take a stroll along the crater's edge or take a hike through the Makhtesh. Make sure to visit the Infocenter before in order to get hints regarding hiking routes. Also be sure to start early in the morning as it tends to get very hot already before noon.

Mitzpe Ramon Visitors Center

Visitor center
The Mitzpe Ramon Visitors Center, situated on the edge of the Ramon Crater, offers a comprehensive experience for visitors. It features exhibitions on the formation of the Makhtesh Ramon crater and serves as a memorial to Ilan Ramon, Israel's first astronaut who tragically perished in the Columbia space shuttle disaster. The center provides interactive displays detailing geological processes that shaped the crater and showcases a short film highlighting local desert wildlife.
In Russian, there's a word for "science town", and Mitspe Ramon would fit that word perfectly. This visitors center, hosting a memorial to astronaut Ilan Ramon, connects you to the greats and sorrows of humanity's scientific odyssey, from the Israeli point of view, in one of the most scenic locations in the country's desert. Compared to the vast space museums of Russia and the US, the exposition related to first Israeli astronaut is tiny, but the majestic nature - as seen from the cliff for miles ahead, and coupled with materials on the place's geological history and biosphere - makes up for it, creating an experience no superpower museum would be able to. It's a special place and you'll probably remember it well after your visit.
Mr N — Google review
Small visitors center that has a dual focus. Half the tour is about Ilan Ramon and half about Ramon Crater. It took an hour. Has a gorgeous view and came free with my Israeli Parks membership. It is right at the entrance of the crater. Need to pay for parking.
N. C — Google review
A short and sweet review of the Ramon crater, how it was created, the darkness it inhabits, which enables stars to shine in the sky, and a tribute to Ilan Ramon, Israel's departed astronaut. Very enjoyable, informative and kids will find it interesting. In addition, there's a restaurant nearby, and parking is rather abundant. Highly recommended.
Daniel K — Google review
A very emotional experience to remember the history and to hear Ilan Ramon's last words in the space with his family. And when the video was over and the curtain opened slowly, the entire view of Ramon Crater was unfolded in front of us. What a strong emotional moment! A very unique experience of visiting the Ramon Crater. It's also part of the Matmon network of Israeli Parks Authority. So if you have Matmon, don't miss this place.

Avdat National Park is a historical attraction that features the ruins of a Nabataean city dating back to 3rd century BCE. Situated on a hilltop along the old Incense Route, it serves as a reminder of the area's rich history. The park offers various paths for visitors, though walking the whole way may require preparation for a 6km walk back to one's car.
Amazing view and amazing view and again amazing view. This place is all about view. Love the natural formation of the rocky crater. Narrow stream is flowing naturally through the rocks. Beautiful big caves. There are multiple pools in the area, but swimming is not recommended. The upper pool view from the edge of the crater is stunning. It took us about 1 to 1.5 hour with multiple stopping and careful walking from lower parking lot to upper parking lot. It's one way trail. So, if you up for an adventure, try walking back from upper parking lot to lower parking lot by the road which will take around 3 hours with moderate pace.

Great treks along the wadi. We took the short and it was very easy, with water, which is super amazing in June in Negev desert. It’s not crowded. We saw eagles, vultures and mountains goats along the route.
Ihor Z — Google review
An amazing experience for all travelers. Highly recommended. The road is a bit rough but the views are incredible. If you want to go up the canyon and overlook the entire place you need to have another car waiting for you in the upper parking lot. It's the same ticket.

The Nabataeans built and inhabited Avdat from the 1st century, until an earthquake deconstructed the structures early in the 7th century. Truly magnificent Nabatean fortress with layers of ancient history. Fantastic stop for history buffs, with sweeping views over the desert mountains. It is indeed quite incredible to find water channels in the middle of the desert, but just the same as around the dead sea, there are plenty of springs in the the Negev. The best to go there autumn to winter when the weather is just fine. The hike to the top is definitely challenging, so be sure to take it slow and steady. The views of the canyon at the top are just spectacular, making the trek well worth it. Very interesting archeological site. Those anchient Naabatiens were crazy dudes, making wine in the middle of the desert. The site is well maintained and very interesting. It can get very hot/cold so try to visit during transitional seasons.

Amazing natural valley and cliff that are all peculiar in this region. It is indeed quite incredible to find water channels in the middle of the desert, but just the same as around the dead sea, there are plenty of springs in the the Negev. The best to go there autumn to winter when the weather is just fine. Even in summer it's still that bad because you will reach the cliff almost by car, from the parking place you will walk less than a km (800m).

So much to see in such a small area. Much history and eras featured here. Signage in the park is very limited as are the explanations so make sure you bring a tour guide and/or watch the video at the entrance. We saw some kids doing a scavenger hunt. Wish we would have some that too.

This is a beautiful national park for short hikes. It is very good for family and outdoor hiking or friends hiking. There are lots of canyons with stream along the canyons path. The scenery is really beautiful, I recommend to anyone coming to the Negev region. You have to get through Midreshet to drive to the park. There is a payment of like 24 shekels if you are not resident in Midreshet /Midrasha. There is a stream and upper cliff to get to the end. This is a short hike of about 2-3hours.

Jabal Mousa, also known as Mount Sinai or Gebel Musa, is a revered natural reserve with rich biodiversity and archaeological ruins. It holds great religious significance for Christians, Muslims, and Jews who believe that Moses received the Ten Commandments at its summit. The mountain offers a beautiful and relatively easy climb, providing a glimpse into biblical times for pilgrims. Hikers are required to be accompanied by local Bedouin guides.
A Life-Changing Experience at Mount Sinai Climbing Mount Sinai was truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The journey is both physically challenging and spiritually uplifting, offering a deep connection to nature and history. Starting the hike under a breathtaking blanket of stars, the peaceful silence of the desert night feels almost sacred. The Bedouin guides were exceptional—kind, knowledgeable, and attentive to everyone’s needs. Along the way, the small stops to enjoy tea or coffee at the Bedouin huts made the trek even more memorable, adding warmth and local charm to the experience. Reaching the summit just before sunrise was beyond words. Watching the first light break over the vast, rugged mountains was not only stunning but deeply moving—a moment of pure awe and gratitude. On the way back, visiting St. Catherine’s Monastery added another layer of wonder to the trip. The history, the Burning Bush, and the quiet reverence of the monastery made it clear why this area is such a spiritual landmark. I’m so grateful to have been healthy and strong enough to complete this journey. It’s not just a hike—it’s an unforgettable adventure that leaves you with a sense of peace, accomplishment, and connection. If you’re considering it, don’t hesitate. Mount Sinai will leave you changed forever.

It was the most surreal and brilliant sunrise I have ever seen! I climbed Mt Sinai on 11 April 2025. The climb with the Bedouin guide is actually quite easily paced with a number of rest stops on the way. I ascended to the summit in 2.5 hrs (walking a bit faster than what my guide wanted). The 750 steps to the top are a pleasant challenge. The summit was freezing (3°C / 37°F) and it was a bit windy, too. I strongly advise you rent of one of those big blankets from the rest stop near the summit. The sunrise was magnificent. I cannot explain it. Mystical! Magical. Divine! *****

What a privilege to go up Mount Sinai. It was a joy, and, for those used to hikes or treks, a easy way up. We had a Bedouin guide who was nice and helpful. And what a sunrise! For those who can, please experience this. For those of us who are from cities, to see a sight such as this is very good for the soul.

An unique experience, which I will never forget! The ascent started at around 1:30am and at 5:00am the first pictures of the sunrise on the top of Mount Sinai were taken. Unlike most of the others, I didn't manage to reach the top, unfortunately. At the stopping place where the camels finished climbing, I stopped too... somewhere at around 2000 m. That night I think I was the only one who abandoned the climb. I also know why, that's why I have some advice for those who... are of an age... (60+), who don't have the best physical condition or maybe even, in their strong desire to achieve this ascent, forget that they have some medical circumstances that, with such physical effort, could become active and prevent them from fulfilling their dream. Now I know where and why I failed, and next time I will do it differently: I will pay the price to climb up to 2000m by camel... (why didn't I do that now? I thought I could do it, even if I went slower); I will conserve my energy for the remaining 285m, the last part of the ascent, with the 750 steps, in front of which I have now given up; I will enjoy all the splendor of the night in an unique landscape - this stone desert with lofty heights that pierce the darkness of the night in the light of the moon and stars, I will let myself be veiled by the high energy of this unique, mystic place, instead of slowly falling prey to a painful physical exhaustion that has taken over my entire being, ... I will wander with my gaze over the starry sky, instead of keeping my eyes on the ground more, following the playful light of the flashlight that would reveal to me where I could step more safely... The ascent was made at a sustained pace, which I could not keep up... that's it.. when you have 5-6 comrades from the UN troops in the team, I don't think it could have been otherwise... Finally,... I hope God will help me to come back... the sooner, the better!

The world's best holy mountains, an eternal Landmark and one of the holiest places in Christianity, Judaism and Islam. A mountain facing the sky. A spiritual attraction known as the place where Moses received the Ten Commandments. It was such a hard road that I wanted to give up, but the view from the top made all the effort worthwhile. I felt like I was holding out for this moment. It was my first experience hiking such a mountain, and it was harder than I expected! You'll need to bring a lot of snacks, water, dates and water. You'll find places to rest and take your breaths so don't miss them, and always follow your guide. A life time experience that I won't forget.

For sure it was a memorable experience. Breath taking views. The element of surprise when you climb at night, and at sunrise you begin to see all the beauty around you. Take with you comfortable shoes special for long distance. At the top of the mountain when you wait for the sunrise is cold, so bring with you warm clothes and enjoy. The way there took 3-4 hours, and back 2-3 hours.

Great experience seeing the sun rise at the summit. If you're planning to do this, keep in mind it is a mountain, and although the trail is straightforward, you'll have to ascend 2000ft at night sp careful consideration of footwear and clothing. Whilst you're walking, you'll be warm but as soon as you stop for a while (especially at the top) it will be cold so take warm clothing. You can hire blankets for 150 Egyptian pounds at the top.

Saint Catherine's Monastery

Saint Catherine's Monastery is a Greek Orthodox monastery located in the Sinai Peninsula, with a history dating back to around AD 330. It was initially built as a small chapel and refuge for hermits near the burning bush where God spoke to Moses. Today, it is one of the oldest functioning monastic communities globally and houses an extensive library with ancient manuscripts, a church adorned with icons, and a serene garden.
The world's oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery tells the tale of the whole world, not only christians. The monastery was built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, enclosing what is claimed to be the burning bush seen by Moses. Centuries later, the believed body of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, was taken to the monastery. Ages of history and religion, all in one place. This is a must!

A hidden marvel. The monastery opens only for one hour per day and limits the access to the Burning Bush, the church and the well. There's also a collection of old icons but it was closed on the day of our visit. There is also a small shop with icons, candles and so on. We could take pictures everywhere except for the church. Combined with climbing Sinai mountain, the monastery is a one the rare and unique experiences worth doing.

The trip from Sharm el-Sheikh to the monastery was wonderful. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the museum with the icons, which is the most interesting part of the site, was closed, and there was no advance notice. Penso che non sia una cosa corretta, pullman di persone che arrivano e poi trovano il museo con le icone chiuso. We ended up wasting our time there. The monastery and church are beautiful, however.

The monastery has its own hotel, restaurant and cafeteria with reasonable prices. The food was OK, sleeping beds were clean. This isn't a 5 star hotel, more of a relaxing experience, try to visit it during summer times as in winter it would be soo cold.

Visited this Monastery after we completed Moses Mountain hike. The building is truly unique and historical. Located at foothill of Moses Mountain. Amaze upon seeing the burning bush 3000 years old tree. Also the Moses well, you can drink the water too. There is a mosque inside too but not in use. Many old manuscript too. Plenty olive trees surrounding the compound.
