One of the nicer parks I have seen in the country. Good that it has a theme. However needs more trees for shade in the late afternoon. Gets quite sunny. Park facilities are basic. If only there is a jogging-friendly connection link to the other parks nearby ...

Best Park in Udon Thani – Great for Everyone! This is hands down the best park in Udon! The atmosphere is amazing — peaceful, green, and full of life. You'll find people of all ages enjoying different activities here: from cycling, jogging, and football to group dance practices and more. There are exercise machines available for free, making it a great spot to work out. If you're just looking to relax, you can sit by the water and enjoy the cool breeze — it's incredibly refreshing. The park is also very family-friendly. There's a separate, safe area with swings and playgrounds just for kids, so parents can relax while their children play. What makes it even better is that there are cafes and restaurants nearby, so you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat before or after your visit. Overall, it’s a perfect place to chill, exercise, or spend time with friends and family. Highly recommended for locals and visitors!!!

I love this park. I walk around the lake every day and feel relaxed while getting some exercise. Its beautifully maintained. It has both bike and jogging lanes. Its teaming with wildlife from fish in the lake to turtles and frogs. A very pleasant place to walk or bike around.

We love to come to Nong Prajak Park! There are so many ways you can spend your time here. The sunset over the lake is beautiful. We love to walk or bike around the park on the paths. Our kids love the vast array of playgrounds and work-out equipment. The bridges are fun and pretty.

Really nice clean park in the centre of the city. Gardens are very well maintained. Has cycle and walking paths connecting all of the islands. Good place to go for a stroll and relax for a few hours with children. Bicycles can be rented nearby for cheap prices. There's a stall selling food to feed the birds and fish in the lake.

Great place to chill. It’s huge with lots of spot to unwind and relax. They have nice suspension bridges too which is very perfect for walking and photo ops. I love this park.

This place deteriorated fast since the opening. Part of the park has closed including the kids playscape section and many of the shops. Still has a limited conscession stand and one small restaurant. You need to have a cap to swim but they have rentals for kids and adults available. It is a cheap (50thb) option for kids and parents to splash and play on a hot day. Only three small water slides work. The big blue one doesn't operate anymore. Has plenty of shady places to relax and plenty of tables and chairs to sit. Has a life guard on duty. Kids play while parents sit stare at their phones (including me). They serve beer 🍻 so...cheers.

Looks like the rides are all working. The area is clean. Music is not too loud. They have water misting system to keep you cool when you're out of the pool. Tips: Bring your own pool caps if you have. Fallung charged more as usual. Have coupon system for food and drink.

An excellent little water park. The staff are friendly and efficient and the park itself is quite well maintained. The changing facilities and toilet were clean and well looked after. There is a bar and a coffee shop for relaxing after your swim.

For the money you pay its good value. The location is good and lots free parking.

I arrived with 13 people and the pickup mainly children. We got off to a bad start as we brought food with us which they would not let us take in Then we discovered that you have to wear a bathing cap before they would let you in the water I was not very keen on the plastic grass I thought i could relax and listen to some of my phone music or an audio book but the speakers were so loud there was no where where i could hear my headphones On the positive find it was clean the service good and the food prices reasonable

For foreigners it is a bit daunting with multiple price's, not telling us that you had to supply or buy a swimming costume and cap and then to be told that only coupons to buy everything inside. After you know what they want all is ok. Children had a lot of fun with 5 lifeguards on duty. A big suggestion is that they should have signage in English as the front staff do not speak any english, also I might add that they asked me for ID to buy the swimming costumes, dammed if I know why. After that, sit back and have fun.

The pools are terribly over chlorinated. Just standing near them makes your eyes water. You also have to wear a swimcap...in an outdoor waterpark - seriously? The slides are also super dry and likely to give you plastic burn. Avoid.

Beautiful, clean and quiet temple. We came when there was an event on the main hall so we just went around the other side where there was not people at all. The buildings are all well maintained. It was just recently repainted and the gold/red paint are perfect combination of classy and regal. The grounds are also clean and there's a lot of trees and plants. Worth the short visit.

The Temple grounds cover a large area and include many attractive buildings, but the centre piece is the beautiful Pagoda. You can climb the steps of the Pagoda where there are galleries on two levels. It's worth going upto the 2nd level for the best view of the whole site. Plenty of space for parking and free to visit. I noticed that apart from buildings like the Ordination and Assembly Halls which unfortunately were closed for access, there is also a funary building complete with Crematoria.

The Wat looks so majestic with the Naga lining the stairs. You can climb to the top that gives you a commanding view of the compound. There are 3 floors where you can enter the temple to pray. On the 3rd floor, the mural on the wall is beautiful. You will have removed your shoes to enter. After the temple visit, you can walk over to the Nong Prajak Park, which is across the road.

Close to the city. Very famous temple and kept in the Thai Buddhist traditions. There are many famous monks who have stayed here. Beautiful Chedi that has 3 levels and statues of monks. The top level is for meditation. Not a tourist attraction but a real indication of what being a true monk and Buddhist is about. It is free and doesn't have people trying to sell you things free entry

Beautiful Thai temples Located in the middle of the city there's a few sights to see in this area. Not to mention the lake with large inflatable ducks. It's the normal standard beautiful Thai temples you see everywhere. Probably a good idea to go early because it gets so hot. A little tip is if you take the tram card city tour from Central plaza around Udon Thani it takes you here with a 20 min break. These tours depart 11:30am and 2:30 pm from memory.

Absolutely one of the better city pillar shrines I have seen in Thailand. Covering a pretty big area compared to most other similar shrines there’s plenty to see here. The shrine is surrounded by a nice little park area that is very well kept. A must see location in Udon Thani in my opinion

It is right in the middle of the city. It is a small shrine but very distinct in features. Worshiper offered the prayer as people went about their daily lives.

Second City Pilar in Ubon Ratchathani. The first one is on the square on the side of the National Museum. It is a small shrine but well frequented by the population.

Wow what a place. This place is huge I have never seen anything soo big that is opened every night. So much food to pick from and so many options. Also lots of other things to look at from shoes to jewelry. If you are looking for something then you will find it here. So many people here also so if you not a fan of being around people then don't come but you will be missing out on one of the highlights of Udon Thani

On the right side everything is more modern but they are having CHANG BEER ONLY ... i am loving LEO Beer or Singh or a Beer Lao better. the food night (and afternoon) market is a very busy place, Night market with broad variety of awesome food at incredible cheap prices (as others said before). Don't leave Udon without visiting this place! (Last in Sept 2022)

Great place for dinner. Many food stalls serving tasty food at reasonable prices. Unfortunately some of the tastiest foods are available for take away only. They have a bigger selection of clothing than UD Town night market. It's a good place to spend a few hours in the evening - shopping, eating, drinking, and people watching. Muxh more a local feel than UD Town. I only knock it down to 4 stars because the toilets aren't as modern as those at UD Town.

Very nice and big shopping mall. The Central malls never disappoints. Many shops, big arcade, cinema, food court and beautiful interior. This one has it all. You will also find big international businesses like McDonalds, KFC and so on in here. if you arrive by car there’s a huge parking house right next to the mall

Interesting place to cruise around for a bit and get out of the heat. They have everything under the sun here. Fancy high end brands, a huge food court, book stores, electronics stores, you name it. Im sure you'll find something for you. They even have a Sizzler steak house!

Bery big mall. Went looking for shoes and couldn't find my size 11.5US. A lot of restaurants!! Banks!!! Grocery store, pharmacy, and retail apparel. The massage chairs are the best!!!!

It's a modern big shopping complex with multiple storey. There are major brands of retailers here, including Mark & Spencer, Tag Hauer, Victoria Secret, Starbucks, H&M....etc. Supermarkets and Food Centre is in the basement. Top floor have a cinema and children's play entertainment. Restaurants are mostly on the 4th floor. There are also major banks on the 3rd. You can spend a whole day here without stepping out.

Very beautiful Chinese shrine area with a lot of things to look at. Trees are decorated with red Chinese lamps that just looks stunning after sunset. Definitely an area worth going to visit when in Udon Thani. Right next to the big park

Always seems to be something going on here, day or night. Groups practicing music and acrobatics, striking temples and scenery, all by the side of calm lake. A chance to relax after long train journey or before exploring city. Especially attractive at sundown. I'm amazed that more people don't find their way here, very enjoyable visits for me over 5 days. A chance to see the people of the city enjoying the lake and surrounding area.

Having read other reviews, I want to return here at night, but it was very nice if somewhat hot during the day. It's a small but beautiful shrine, and I loved the mosaic floor with its colourful stone inlays and design. The shrine is next to the lake, which has several pavilions above the water. These pavilions make for a nice shaded place to sit with a cooling breeze blowing in off the lake.

A beautiful shrine. We were there when the shrine members were doing there ritual for paying respect to pu (grandfather) and ya (grandmother). So we were lucky and we just tagged along. There were six spots to pay respect. The prayers were all in Chinese. There was also a nice เก๋งจีน in the pond. I loved it because it was nice and breezy to sit in there. Very relaxing.

Glittering prayer hall and colourful decorations on the walls make this a beautiful place to visit. With the background of the lake it adds to the tranquility of the area, despite it bring very popular with visitors and devotees. Take time to appreciate the amazing pictures on the stone floors. Adding on: we were in Udon on 1 December and were so fortunate to see the The Tung Sri Muang Festival starting from this temple. Noisy, beautiful, fascinating !

Stunning temple This like so many other temples in Thailand are immaculately presented. This is a famous Chinese temple because of the strong cultural influences of the Chinese in this part of Thailand. It's right next door to the Thai - Chinese cultural centre near UD Town. It's just on the other side of the railway tracks. Or around a 15 min walk from Central Plaza area. Some of the artwork is beautifully presented and in excellent condition.

I walk by a couple of nights a week and the shrine is a beehive of activity. At the north end of the compound young people are practicing drumming and marching. At the north end they're building dragons and practicing marching with them. Sometimes everything is lit up.

Lovley way to spend an hour, admiring the Chinese designs if the buildings, learning about it's inauguration by the Thai Princess and learning about how the areas Chinese population first arrived and prospered in the area. There's also fish food on sale to feed the many many large Koi in the large central pond which runs through the complex. There's Chinese crafts for sale + two Resturant/ food options.

Just a place to understand a brief history of the Chinese. Just a hall that explained the history If you have visited China, Taiwan, Malaysia or Singapore you see bigger better landscaping. Very interesting Chinese culture center and temple. They provide a lot of information. You can visit a small museum or watch the beautiful koi carps in the basin in the yard or just stroll around. I came several times and I loved it every time

1-hr driving from Udon Thani city. The place is well-maintained and clean. They exhibit ancient artifacts from excavation with some historical hypothesis. Apart from that, there is nothing much (~1 hr walking around). There is a white lotus temple that you should also visit (10 min drive). Replicant pot painting is also enjoyable.

Ban Chiang National Museum is located in the North East of Thailand, in a town named Udon Thani. This museum is full of artifact from the Bronze Era like 3000 to 1800 BC. The excavation was started in the 70's and King Bumiphol was there to witness the excavation and all documented in the museum with audio visual as well. Tickets priced at 50 baht for locals and 150 baht for foreigners. The Museum closes at 4.00 pm.

Highly rated museum with internationally validated information that was fun to walk around. The staff was helpful and eager to share insights. There is an audio tour and a video to provide additional background and context. The pottery and burial sites of the prehistoric people who lived here thousands of years ago are extremely significant archeological and anthropological findings on a global scale. To understand the impact of these findings in Southeast Asia, and Thailand in particular, is fascinating and wonderful. The ticket cost was 150B for foreigners and 30B for Thais. It's a UNESCO site.

if you have even a passing interest in human geography this museum is amazing. it tracks the continual use of the area by humans going back to the iron age. id no idea that the iron / bronze age had run in parallel in Asia and Europe before visiting the museum.

This Wat Tham Apai Damrongtham located in the North East of Thailand, Sakhon Nakhon and about 1600 km from Dannok. The temple is surrounded by the palm tree densely and is very good scenery. There's prayers for the visitors and everyone comes here with the flower and place them on altar. You can walk around the temple and enjoy the nature. You may buy some clothing for yourself also.

Visiting Wat Phu Thong Thep Minit was an unforgettable experience and truly a highlight of my trip to Udon Thani. The temple grounds are immaculately maintained, with lush gardens, golden statues, and intricate architecture that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region. Also, there is refreshment shop area to rest and have some coffee.

Wat Phu Thong Thep Nimit in Udon Thani Province is a beautiful and easily accessible location where you can pay homage to Luang Pho Thanjai, the revered white Buddha statue on the mountain. It is a must-visit spot for its scenic beauty and convenience.

Magical impressive temple This was the last place I visited after touring all day in the area. It's a very relaxing and peaceful temple with a very impressive Buddha at the top. It's massive as are the stairs long to reach it. The views at the top are beautiful and looking around it's just so serene. It was a hot day but the breeze that blew thru was so enjoyable. Well worth a visit.

The atmosphere was good. When we came, the weather was good, the sky was overcast, not too hot. We arrived in the morning, there weren't many people yet. You can feed the elephants and various animals. There is a restaurant, coffee, and activities to do, you can easily spend time here at least 1-3 hrs including lunchtime. Recommend coming when the weather isn't too hot. On weekend afternoons, there are a lot of people. Have a goo day all 😊🌠

Visited on October 28th. Mostly sunny sky, beautiful weather. I parked in front of the ticket office at 7:40. There are also toilets. To see the red lilies you need to take a boat. Small boat for 2 persons 300B, boat up to 6 persons 500B. When i gave the 300B, the nice lady at the cashier returned me 100B, maybe because i was alone. A very honest behaviour, unusual in the tourism business. The boat ride to the area where lilies are took about 10 minutes at a relaxed pace Then the boat man entered slowly and respectfully of the water plants inside the lilies. When we stopped the boat and the silence surrounded us, it was magical. Around us thousands of red water lilies (although not as many as in the peak season), and many water birds and swallows chirping. The trip took almost an hour. Very impressed by nature and people here. Some Thai people at the dock even invited me for breakfast.

I visited in March which was not the season, but the Red Lotus Lake was on my bucket list. We rented a big boat for 500 baht. He took us out to several spots, and even stopped at the temple on the island. The lake was absolutely beautiful and tranquil. I enjoyed beautiful pink lotus, watching birds, and water buffalos. I recommend it for nature lovers.

Small boat for up to 2 people - 300 Baht. Big Boat for up to 6 people - 500 Baht. It's very very beautiful to visit during Seasonal Period between December to January. The Ride is about One Hour. I did not regret travelling so far to see this amazing red lotus lake. Advice to Arrive there in the Early Morning before 0800 to avoid the strong sun and crowd.

The sheer variety and beauty of the birds here is astounding! Their antics were absolutely hilarious – frantic food hunts, comical escapes from our boat, and the sheer chaos of their running retreats. And the lake? A perfect mirror reflecting it all. A truly delightful experience!

Me and my girlfriend passed by Khumphawapi in wrong (dry) season so boat rides on the lake were closed. However we still found some beautiful lotuses along the road around the lake and walking in the fields

Very nice park near Udon. Foreigner price 100b but they allowed me in for 20b because flowers not yet in full bloom. January will be the best time to see the beautiful flowers in bloom. Still lots of nice flowers and insects at this time in October.

Lovely park with nice long walks, great viewpoints and beautiful gardens. Watch out for the dinosaurs! The place had lots of facilities although it is a bit tired and in need of some maintenance. The signposting could be better on the upper parts where the temple and the walks are.

I couldn't believe this place was free to visit, the only negative was the visitor centre was closed and no information or leaflets available to provide a plan of the area. The signposted viewpoint is actually not the best viewpoint; carry on up the road from the main site to find the best views. There is a Caffè and Toilets in the Park. I think many Thai people come for the beautiful flowers and to have their photos taken with the flowers. It looks like you can camp for free on the site, could see an office where you would pay.

Beautiful gardens This is one of the many places you can incorporate into a day trip around the Udon Thani area. Probably an hours drive from town and is about 600m above sea level. The garden areas are not massive but there's enough there to be worth a visit. The arrangements are very nice and colourful. The place is kept tidy and clean. Maybe a morning visit would better as in the afternoon it's quite hot and not as enjoyable.

One of my favourite places not too far away from civilization - easy to reach from Khon Kaen and Udon Thani. Free entrance which these days is a rare find. A convenient drive up to the National park station and good paths up the mountain not too difficult even for the elderly, yet still natural. The temperature up on the mountain tends to be much cooler than down in the plains even though it isn't really that high at just some 600+ meters.

Great place for a short or day visit. Make sure to go when the season allows for water to be present. Food and snacks are sold at entrance. Many people brought their own food and ate along river. Can swim in the water up and down river. 40 baht entry fee per car. Waterfall is 200 meters from car park. My 65 year old mother made the walk but i had to help her as some points are steep. Public toilet 5 baht.

The waterfall was relatively easy to get to and signage was good. We didn't see much water even though it was the rainy season, and there was trash around the water path. Still, it's a placental area and not too bad.

It's a great zoo and very big. But i don't recommend walking cause it's too big. Take the tour cars or hire a private golf cart for a good price. I came too late only 2 hours before close and it was too short to enjoy all the animals.

The zoo is very nice and offers a wide variety of animals and species. The highlights are definitely the capybara parade and the sea lion show, which lasts around 20 minutes—entertaining without taking too much of your time. For getting around, the zoo provides a small open-air shuttle bus for only 10 baht per person (easy to hop on and off) or, if you prefer, a golf cart for 300 baht per hour for personal use. Both options are very convenient given the size of the park. Some reviews describe the place as run-down, but I don’t agree. The zoo is very large, so it’s unrealistic to expect every single corner to be spotless, yet overall the maintenance is good. The animal enclosures are more spacious than I expected, and the animals seem to have enough room to move around and retreat to their own spaces when needed. The only downside is the ticket policy. Foreigners are charged a much higher price than Thai visitors, even though everyone enjoys the same activities. In my opinion, this is unfair and leaves a bad impression. I also suggest the zoo to clearly state that foreigners with the pink ID card are entitled to the Thai price, since not all staff seem aware of this rule. In my case, the cashier tried to overcharge me and gave me no explanation other than: “Well, because you are a foreigner.” This was very disappointing and unprofessional. Overall, the zoo is worth visiting for its variety of animals, unique shows, and size, but I really hope the management reviews their pricing policy to make it a more welcoming experience for everyone

This zoo has dual pricing, 350 for a foreigner and 130 for Thai people. Foreigners don’t receive anything extra despite paying more. If you are charging so much more for foreigners, at least provide some freebies with the ticket, like a bottle of water and a free tram ticket. The zoo itself is ok. There are some fun feeding opportunities and the seal show is entertaining. It’s a huge space, you definitely need to take the tram around or hire a golf cart for 300 per hour. There is also a water park, a camping zone and the Africa zone 2km away from the zoo.

Visited with my family had tons of fun plenty of animals to see. We didn't have time to go into the water park. Little visitors. Snack and drinks prices are normal. Would love to come again

Good place for children but there were a lot of people waiting for the shuttle bus to move station to station so it would be nicer if they have a bit more.

Children loved it. Highly recommend hiring your own golf cart to get around the zoo. Had no issues with the hills like some other reviewers had. Took us about 2.5 hours, navigating at our own speed. The zoo was clean and the animals seemed to be well looked after.

Good zoo, suitable for taking children, exciting, there is a seal show, there are many kinds of wild animals but not many, the ticket price is not expensive, there is a golf cart rental service, you can drive yourself, you can stop as you like, overall good.

The place is only for you to take a picture with there exterior. Not any an activity that you could really do. Quite disappointing when you drive a long way to get there.

Traditional cow farm. This is a quiet place with many photo points. It has average shops and cafes and animals. BUT THE BEST PART IS THAT YOU GET TO MILK A REAL LIVE COW!!! Worth an hour. But the timings of the cow show are 1 2 3 o clock and so on. So show up around that time. Average place but you should definitely go for milking the cow

Such a beautiful walk up to the temple! The steps are not steep but it's longer than it seems. It's a lovely walk up as the Buddha statue gets bigger and bigger in front of you. From the top, you get a good view of the never-ending stretches of land in front of the temple. Behind the temple, you can get a bird's eye view of the beautiful lake. There are benches and pavilions to sit around to enjoy the view.

One of the best temples so far visited in this country. The stairs to the temple are a long walk - however there is a road to the right that leads straight to the summit with plenty of parking for car or motorcycle. Amazing views over the plateau of Khon Kaen. Certainly worth a visit just to get close to Buddha.

Looks like there are water activities but I don’t think I would go in the water as it did smell a little and there was quite a few dead fish washed up on the side. Worth a look if you have the time but I wouldn’t make it a priority

This is a minor pilgrimage site for Isaan. The main chedi is a handsome structure with a plaster body and a gold finial. Alongside, we have an Isaan sim with mural paintings of turn-of-the-century policemen. There is no entrance charge.

I love this temple, it's great for meditating, especially in the morning. The people there are really nice, and the temple supporters are, too. It's close to the city and easy to get in Khon Kean. The scenery and the sculptures are beautiful.

A good place to recite the history of Buddhism in Khon Kaen. Visitors can see the Chedi with Isan style architecture that is different from Thai other regions. No entrance fee required for visitors. Make sure you take off your shoes while entering the Chedi area.

Very peaceful place, many zones to walk

Feeling like go back in time since this area used to be a town in 2,000 years ago, especially when the temple staff play traditional North Eastern songs.

Khon Kean sacred place and historical area if you visit KKC this is a must. The pagoda kept Bhudda's relics. The architecture of the place is north eastern style.

Nice and intersting museum but not big and I think 200 Baht is too much for what they show, I think a fair price should be 100 Baht or maybe 120 Baht. Need to signal better the floor as not clear the route to follow once inside the museum.

This one fantastic museum and pretty much a 'must-do' if you have an extended amount time to enjoy the wonders of Khon Kaen province in Isan, Northeastern Thailand. Plenty of art, photography, storyboards (static and interactive) and sculptures. It housed in classic European styled building on the outskirts of the city centre, with lush gardens and plenty of parking, Inside, it set across two (2) levels and has a welcoming, roomy feel. Definitely one for history buffs and culture hounds (see my YouTube), like yours truly.

We were the first people there, so we got to enjoy it uninterrupted. The history that you get to see and read is interesting, actually so I suggest you visit for a little lesson of the old culture and life in Northern Thailand.

A great small museum. Informative on history of Thailand's northeastern region. Rich cultural and religious blend of Thai Laos and Cambodia. People arrived from Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam over the years to be part of Isan community.

One of few attractions in Khon Kaen. The museum is small, exibition is nice but also not big. I spend around 45 minutes to walk around and read everything. Price I would say high for is offered. 200 baht for foreginers, 20 baht for Thai.

An excellent museum with lots of interesting exhibits from the Dvaravati period. Can get busy when school visits are taking place.

The famous street market of Khonkaen prefecture. All of shop are local, basic and naturally. The zoning is separate by consumers product and food products, you can find the seasonal food in this street food. The price is very fair. Good vibes. If you are the traveller, I recommended to come.

Kk walking street now having event from 1-12 Dec. Admission and parking is free. Highly recommended for evening walk, as there's many streetfood and go for photos as night there's light as well.

Maybe the Covid scare & restrictions have made this Saturday night event dismal and not special. No place to sit and eat your food from the vendors and lacks a happy atmosphere. Maybe a live band would help.

A lot of booths or stores in this walking street. You also can buy puppies here. For Muslim, you can find halal food store that selling yellow rice and chicken. Don't worry about car park because a lot of space around there.

fun place because lots of good and cheap food. only open every saturday night. there you can buy shoes, clothes, jewelry, feed the goats and some are selling puppies. you have to come and try it!

Two great informative museums in Khon Kaen- the national museum and the city museum “Hung Moon Mung”. This one explained the history and traditional culture of Khon Kaen . I learned more how the “Isaan” beliefs and heritage evolved through the centuries. Most of the information is in English also. Unfortunately, ( as with many Thai municipal government projects), the professionally built museum has not been maintained- so the lighting is poor and in some areas the roof leaks. Sad to see the government neglect such a city treasure. —Be sure to see the beautiful Chinese garden next door…amazing!

How could a museum that claims to highlight the history and culture of the people of Khon Kaen purposefully omits Lao Lanxang Kingdom or the mention of anything Lao?

A museum not taken much care of it, though the story of folk life is very interesting. 90 bath for foreigner is quite pricy.

Great lake for a good 3km walk with a market, outdoor gym, aerobics, dancing, etc. Really nice views and nice to meet people and be healthy

Bueng Kaen Nakhon Located at Nai Mueang Subdistrict in the centre of the city. It is a large pond with an area of 964,800 square kilometres. In addition, it is where the Monument of Chao Phia Mueang Pan, the founder of Khon Kaen is enshrined. This place also serves as a beloved destination for relaxation and various recreational activities. Its serene ambiance, courtesy of the lush trees, health garden, and a dedicated walkway encircling the lake, provides an ideal setting for people to unwind and engage in leisurely pursuits. Additionally, a charming bridge traverses the lake, allowing visitors to appreciate the enchanting atmosphere of Bueng Kaen nakhon, while the presence of diverse sculptures adds an aesthetic appeal that captivates the eye.

It's a large and pleasant park with a wide lake where in the evening a lot of people are walking, exercising, running, biking, enjoying food, shopping. Unfortunately is a little bit dirty and not well maintained. At the rush hour is crowded and the vehicles make a messy traffic.

A beautiful lake park area to walk around and get some peace and exercise. There's some good photo spots too like with the Khon Kaen sign with a dinosaur.

Beautiful smaller temple located in between some of the main temples in Khon Kaen. The temple ground were under renovation when I visited but the temples itself are still a beauty to behold. Worth paying a visit and spending 10-15 minutes here

Wat Nong Waeng Phra Aram Luang is a famous temple in Khon Kaen province and is recognized as a royal temple. It’s a large temple with many parking lot available for visitors. Tourists are expected to dress modestly and respectfully, ensuring shoulders and knees are covered. Women are not allowed to wear short skirts above the knee or sleeveless tops. Before entering the pagoda, which houses sacred relics, all visitors are required to remove their shoes. The temple provides cloth bags for carrying shoes inside, as theft has occurred in the past. Visitors are advised to place their shoes in the provided bags and carry them while exploring the pagoda. The ground floor of the pagoda serves as a space for making merit and features several donation boxes. The interior is intricately decorated and visually stunning. Tourists can also climb to the top of the pagoda, which has nine floors in total. The stairs are steep, so caution is advised. From the ninth floor, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Khon Kaen city.

This is my 2nd time here and it is one of the most beautiful temples in Khon Kaen. There is a stair access to the 9 levels of pagoda but it might be too steep for some people. It was very crowded when we visited.

One of my favourite Temples in Thailand and definitely in the city of Khon Kaen. This Temple is a Khon Kaen land mark and tourist destination. It hosts 9 levels each with artworks, artefacts, shrines, and information much like a museum. Each level represents the ascension to enlightenment and there is a 360 degree view of the surrounding city on every level. The ground floor is the main floor where locals come to greet the monks and pray. I really like this Temple because of its beautiful architecture and surrounding grounds, the view of the city from each level, the artworks, artefacts and information scattered all around. Artworks include paintings that depict traditional every day Thai life, correct behaviour as taught by the scriptures as well as the story of the life of the The Buddha carved into the doors and window shutters. It is easy to spend a whole day here getting lost wandering around discovering new area's while viewing the surrounding city from one of the best vantage points in Khon Kaen.

Wat Nong Wang (วัดหนองแวง) is Khon Kaen city’s biggest, most important temple, and also its one must-see tourist attraction. It was founded in 1789, the same year the city was settled, though there are no old buildings left. It became a royal temple in 1984. About 55 monks and 225 novices live here. It’s ordinary in most regards, except for the stunning nine-story Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon, a stupa unlike any other in Thailand. Many of the links below take you to other articles explaining the art in detail. Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon The ground floor is open 6am-5pm and floors 2-9 are open 8am-4.30pm. Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon stupa was built to celebrate both the king’s golden jubilee (celebration of 50 years on the throne) and the two hundredth birthday of Khon Kaen city. It is 50m long on the side and 80m tall and has nine floors because he was King Rama 9. Construction was started in 1990 and it was inaugurated in 1996. The idea for the stupa came from the highly respected Luang Paw Koon Kantigo, the then abbot. The design was inspired by the Eiffel Tower and the Shwedagon Pagoda, both of which he saw while travelling. The most important of the abbot’s ideas, however, is the stupa’s curved shape, chosen to be that made by a hanging fishing net – called a catenary curve in physics. People’s ashes are kept in the stupas at each of the four corners and the naga-topped wall around the stupa. Before construction, when this area was still rice field, a naga came to tell a high-ranking monk in a dream that there was a naga breathing hole where the stupa was going to be built. So, the stupa was built about 10m from the original intended location and these naga were incorporated into the design. The shape of the top part of the stupa was inspired by Phra That Kham Kaen stupa (notice the redented corners) north of the city and has a golden-colored vine pattern similar to that on the very important Phra That Phanom stupa in Nakhon Phanom province. Ground Floor The temple’s center of activity is the stupa’s ground floor, which has a Buddha relic inside a chamber with a nine-spired roof. Next to it is a life-like resin statue of Luang Paw Koon Kantigo, the previous abbot (Unusual, because these are normally made after an abbot has died, but this one was put here many years before.), and in the back is a copy of the Chinnarat Buddha (from Phitsanulok); two copies of Phra Kaew (the Emerald Buddha), one green and one orange; and a baby Buddha. They are facing west, rather than the usual east, because the original Chinnarat Buddha also faces west. Along the northern wall is a table with 108 alms bowls (for donating 108 coins) and another full of daily Buddhas. The number 108 was important in ancient India and so it is found in many Buddhist stories, most importantly the 108 signs of perfection to show that he was the Buddha – this is also why there are often 108 symbols on the soles of many large Buddha footprints.

The main Temple of Khonkaen called Wat - Nong - Wang (in Thai). There is 9 floor with closely pyramid shape. All decoration is very Thai, which beautiful, charming and richy by the golden colour of gold. The activity is walk around the floor then step up to the top of temple. The location is beside of kaennakorn swamp that very massive impress by the top view from the top of Nongwang temple.

As a non believer I can review just the multi storey building. Once you get the last floor you will see an amazing 360 degrees view. The stairs are not easy to climb because the steps are high and narrow.

I recently had the chance to visit a temple that turned out to be one of the most peaceful and calming places I’ve been to in a while. The entire atmosphere was so serene, surrounded by lush greenery and open space—it really felt like a peaceful escape from the city. At first, the entrance was a little confusing; it felt like I might have taken a wrong turn because the road leading in wasn’t clearly marked. But once I arrived, I was amazed at how beautiful and well-maintained the temple grounds were. There’s a parking area available, which is really helpful, especially if you’re driving. I visited around midday, and I have to say—it was extremely hot. But even with the heat, the experience was enjoyable because the temple has a lot of trees and shaded areas that help cool things down a bit. They also provide free umbrellas for visitors, which was such a thoughtful touch. I’d still recommend bringing your own if you can, just in case all the shared ones are being used. The temple architecture is stunning. As I walked around the grounds, I couldn’t help but stop to admire all the different statues, shrines, and details in the structures. Each piece of art and sculpture felt meaningful and beautifully designed. There was so much attention to detail, and I found myself spending quite a bit of time just quietly observing everything. It was like being in an outdoor art gallery—but filled with spiritual energy and tradition. One nice surprise was a donation point where you could contribute toward free ice cream for visitors. That small gesture made a big impact, especially on such a hot day! I also appreciated the friendly staff and volunteers helping out with the traditional offerings, like candles and bells. One of them told us we didn’t have to remove our shoes on the hot pavement since the sun had made the ground almost too hot to walk on—but of course, we removed them before entering the sacred area upstairs to show respect. Once I climbed the stairs to the upper level of the temple, the breeze made everything feel cooler. The wind blowing through that high spot made it a perfect place to sit for a moment, take a deep breath, and really enjoy the view and peaceful surroundings. Despite the midday heat, the whole experience felt worthwhile and refreshing for the spirit. Visiting this temple was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. It’s not just about seeing a beautiful place, but also about feeling calm, connected, and inspired. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful stop on their journey.

Some parts of this wat remind me of a church, maybe it is because of the big cupola.... And yet on top of the cupola, there is this "shade/umbrella" of the Buddhist temple. For me it is a nice "baroque" design.

I came here on a bit of a last minute whim when Mama wanted to stop by to pray for a bit. Why not. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the main temple sitting in what appears as the middle of a small lake is impressive. I really don't have much to tell with respect to the cultural meaning of the place as everything is in Thai only however luckily there are a number of Thai reviews here that give you a bit of background. From my perspective many of the statues were very unusual depicting strange little creatures somewhere between human and NOT, seemingly guarding the shrines on the 4 corners of the main temple. My wife new little about the temple but mentioned that these are children caught between living in the real world and spirit world. In general it is a great place for some photos and the awesome beauty of the entire grounds make for a nice place to check out.

The temple is stunning with great vibe. We went there on Sunday but not too cloudy which is good. Lots of place that amazingly us which telling the story doing good and bad. Recommended to come once in life time. My kids are really love here

All coasters are out of function, except the ones in the kids water land and the wave pool is operating (maybe because of the season?) I'm sure the kids gonna have a blast of fun, but that would also be the only reason for going here (to drain your kids energy), not much for adult when all the coasters is closed. Food and drink options limited, but okay. You are not allowed to bring food and drinks. Current price: 200 adult (foreign and Thai) kids under 90cm get in for free. If no swimming half price.

The place is closed 5 days per week! The Google site says it is open every day! Lady at ticket counter said no! Place only open Saturday and Sunday! My daughter was so sad! What a was of my time and of my taxi money. Avoid this place so that you avoid disappointment. Please change your opening times.

Have given this place one star purely because unable to put zero stars. A total rip off, 602 baht entrance for 2persons, no slides open, the water is so dirty as is all the tiles in the pool. The water in your local village lake will be cleaner. Also at midday the music is pumping out at god knows what level, we are not at some rave club. In all my wife were in and out of the place within 10minutes, what a dump, should not be open.Avoid

Very bad experiencee My mom went there last year and had a good experience but now the water has algae in it and its not cleann only kids section is open and wave pool is also open and it is also dirty. The had many good slides and rides but most of them are closed. Especially no lockers, the lockers are broken and rusted.

Horrible with zero maintenance, seemingly just a last ditch money-grab. Only two areas were half operational and those had crusty old birdshit on the slides, dead geckos, green water and algae moss growing in the pool bottoms. Drove 90km, paid for 5 tickets and left after 15 minutes. This place shouldn't be kept open in this state.

As opposed to some of the other reviewers here, I fully understand why this park does not have many visitors - it is a straightforward scam! We paid full price at the entrance, to find out many of the attractions are not in operation any more. Entrance fee is already quite expensive (THB 500 for us per person) while the park has certainly seen better times. On top of that, you get this feeling they are taking any chance to rip you off after you have already entered the park. Of course a place to sit for a family is not included in the entrance fee! The so-called 'cabana', a few wooden benches with a table and roof will cost you THB 400 and another THB 200 deposit (no idea why), wood splinters in your hands and feet included. You basically have no other choice but to rent this thing anyways, I mean who wants to sit in the sun for several hours at 33 degrees! Some of the waterslides are a safety risk to me, at least I got my back injured on one of them. Food and water are unnecessarily expensive, and of course you cannot bring your own inside. They are charging THB 20 for a small bottle of water. I hope some people will read this review before going, so I can save you the money, time and help you avoid exposing your children to this unsafe place.
