A very nice place. If you love nature, touch of forest, calmness, then it's definitely Ideal for you. Always enter through gate 2. It's nearer to Railway station. There are few tea stalls where you can buy tea, bread toast etc. But there is no restaurants nearer. It is suggested to carry food. Toilet is too dirty. Otherwise overall a very good place.

Maa Ambika Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
People of Baripada and the neighboring places in the district of Mayurbhanj hold Maa Ambika, the presiding deity of Ambika Temple in great awe and devotion. They swear by her literally. The temple is a small one unlike the imposing Jagannath Temple of Baripada and other famous temples of Odisha. Its outer walls are painted in gorgeous colors and the temple complex is quite moderate in size. The interior walls display paintings depicting stories of mythological themes. The temple is surrounded by many stalls selling prasad, flowers and incense. The official one near the temple main gate sells good khuas and pedas for prasad,.and ghee smeared earthen lamps. Ambika, the goddess has four arms, each holding a dreaded weapon. She is the incarnation of Goddess Durga. As is the practice in all Durga temples, there is also a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva inside the compound. Morning and evening Aaratis are elaborate and are well attended. Devotional songs are sung during these times. One can order Anna Prasad in case of a manasika or promise of an offering made earlier. The food is cooked in the temple kitchen before it is offered to the deity before being partaken by family and friends of the devotee. The modern temple is located less than one km from Jagannath temple and King's palace and slightly above one km from the private bus stand of Baripada. There used to be animal sacrifices in the temple complex earlier. Do not have the latest status on that.

I am absolutely delighted to have visited the Maa Ambika Temple in Baripada! This temple holds a special place in my heart, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to experience its divine energy....The temple's serene atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and warm hospitality made my visit truly unforgettable. I was deeply moved by the temple's spiritual vibe and felt a strong connection to Maa Ambika.....I highly recommend visiting this temple to anyone seeking a peaceful and enriching experience. It's a must-visit destination for devotees and travelers alike!
Dinesh B — Google review
All the old residents and devotees of India Baripada who have faith in Maa Ambika, everyone says to Goddess Ambika that Mata Ambika is very old means she has not even been born. Meaning his generation after generation his father is older than him. His father was the king who was ruling in Maharaja Mayurbhanj. The king of Mayurbhanj had come to Mata Rani and built a temple and established it there. Since then it has been about one and a half hundred and two hundred years to worship here. Here all the devotees would have accomplished all the work by calling the goddess with reverence.
ProsPective A — Google review
Sorry here I can't explain my emotions and feelings and the level of spirituality. The energy and vibration of this place is incredible. Only thing I could say is "MAA BLESSES HER EVERY CHILD" 🙏❤️

The Ambika temple, Baripada is an ancient temple and the Bijesthali of the presiding deity. People of Baripada strongly believe her as ‘The Living Goddess’, who as a mother showers her blessings to all the mankind. Peoples come to worship here from different states like Jharkhand and West Bengal. Many festivals namely Durga puja, Basanti Puja, Pna Sankranti, Makar Sankranti etc. are observed here. One can reach here by Bus and Train.

Beautiful heritage property, well maintained. I spent a good quality time with my family. Authentic bengali royal thali served which was superb.. If you want to spend a holiday with royal ambience please visit Rajbari.
SUCHARITA H — Google review
The location is the best and undoubtedly the rooms are filled with royalty and are equally huge but when it comes to maintenance,it's pathetic and especially if you're opting of an extra bed, you'll find mice under the sofa cum bed all day. The food is good but they'll forget to provide your complimentary water bottles but bill you for extra bottles. Please go through the bill thoroughly.
Avik M — Google review
Short review: You'll have a negative experience, opt for literally any other place. Long review: Let's talk about the good things first: People of the service industry are very good and well natured. The rooms are visually pretty, if you don't plan on staying there. Bathroom is also good. Onto the long list of bad things: The managerial staff's behaviour is appalling, but not more than the absolute irresponsibility of the owners. The food options were criminally limited, and the three days we stayed were full of potatoes and a couple of disastrous food items. The "complimentary breakfast" isn't really complimentary when half the things don't arrive on time, or when they get over. The 2 ACs in our suite were damaged. One had water falling from it, the other one's flap was damaged. The most unnerving part of the stay is the lack of wifi. There is no wifi, even though my phone could detect some 2-3 routers in the property. The owners living upstairs have their wifis, but the same courtesy has not been extended to guests paying unnecessarily extra amount of money to stay in the property. The behaviour of the temple staff on property was mean spirited as well. We had problems after problems, and not once did the owners deem it polite or courteous to address anything. There aren't enough things to visit near the rajbari anyway, so I advice you to choose another place. Overpriced and basically a scam. They took even the gst amount when we booked, but our stay was after the gst rules had changed. We had to argue for half an hour before they agreed to return the extra gst amount.
Diksha G — Google review
We had originally booked a 3-night stay in December last year, which we unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute due to a friend's emergency surgery. At the time, we were informed that while a refund could not be issued, our booking amount would be kept open and could be used for a future stay, subject to availability. However, when we called on 16th June to rebook for the first weekend of September, we were told that no rooms were available due to "peak season" and that it was too late to book. This was quite surprising — over two and a half months in advance hardly qualifies as a last-minute request, and the first weekend of September, three weeks before the Puja holidays, being labeled as peak season seems questionable. Frankly, it feels like if we hadn’t already paid, availability would not have been an issue. We are disappointed by how this has been handled. We expected a more reasonable and accommodating approach, especially under the circumstances. The person who responded to my call today said that the policy of availing the alternative dates before April was communicated to us. That is not true. Nothing about availing the dates before April was told, and as the whatsapp communication attached shows - no reply was given nor any policy regarding re-booking before April was messaged. It would not have been possible though, because the person who underwent the surgery has very recently recovered and is fit to travel. But such haughty people in hospitality service is not concerned about that of course - as long as they get to keep the money and can stick to their policy.

Barehipani Waterfall

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Popular, dramatic mountain waterfall visible from the road & featuring a hiking & picnic area.
Barehipani Waterfall, within Similipal National Park, is a majestic two-tiered cascade, one of India's highest. Its nearly 400-meter drop creates a stunning spectacle amidst dense forests. The sheer scale and natural beauty offer a tranquil, immersive experience. Located in a tiger reserve, access is regulated, requiring park entry. The waterfall's powerful rush and serene surroundings captivate visitors, making it a must-see for nature lovers. Remember to check park regulations before visiting, as access can be limited.

Barehipani Falls, India’s second tallest waterfall, is a stunning sight tucked within the serene Simlipal National Park. 🚗 Around 3 km drive from the main safari road takes to fall 🚶‍♂️ Followed by a short 50m walk from the parking area to the viewpoint 🌄 The falls can be viewed from a distance in full grandeur, cascading in TWO TIERS 🏞️ On the way, you can glimpse the top of the falls (mountain) of the water route itself ✨ The area near the viewpoint is open and peaceful, great to sit, relax - Toilet available near parking lot 🍴 - Refreshment stall is located at the site, and - About 1/2 km further from the turning point, local restaurants serving thali meals at a reasonable price. A must-visit to truly experience the grandeur of nature and the calm of Simlipal!
Neha A — Google review
Barehipani Waterfall transcends the typical tourist attraction; it embodies a harmonious display of nature's magnificence. With its stunning elevation and serene environment, it captivates visitors and leaves a lasting impression. Whether you are a solo adventurer, a family in search of excitement, or a couple desiring a romantic retreat amidst nature, Barehipani provides an unforgettable journey into the untamed essence of Odisha.
Somnath M — Google review
Barehipani Waterfall, while undoubtedly one of the tallest in India, can feel a bit underwhelming. The sheer scale of the falls is certainly impressive, but the viewing point, unfortunately, offers a rather static experience. The waterfall's grandeur is somewhat diminished by the lack of dynamic viewpoints. The fixed vantage point, though offering a good overall view, can make the experience feel a bit monotonous. While the waterfall itself is a natural wonder, the surrounding infrastructure and visitor experience could be significantly improved to truly capture the magic of this natural spectacle.
Soumee B — Google review
“When you say “Waterfall”, I hear “Wonderful”.” Lush greenery carpets the rolling hills, a vibrant tapestry of life. A gentle breeze whispers through the trees, carrying the scent of wildflowers. Sunlight filters through the canopy, dappling the forest floor in golden light. A nearby stream gurgles softly, its crystal-clear waters reflecting the azure sky. The symphony of nature's sounds creates a tranquil and restorative atmosphere.

Beautiful, calm and clean place. Not so far from jamshedpur city. Do visit during Evening. Photos of the stairs is attached, please check it before visiting.
POOJA K — Google review
I believe we came to visit in wrong season because water level was very low and can see the ground in some places. Assuming this winter and post monsoon season might be the best time to come here. However, the place is a beauty nonetheless. The seasonal shortcomings failed to fade the charm of this lake. Even though created artificially as part of some industrial requirements however, nature took it upon itself to beautify it.

Natural beauty of this place is very nice . It is also situated beside the Dalma hill . That's why this lake looks so attractive to the tourist. ❤️❤️

This place is absolutely stunning, nestled in the heart of nature. We stumbled upon this hidden gem by chance, and we couldn't be more grateful. It's wonderfully peaceful here, with just a few folks enjoying the shoreline and taking a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear water. The view is simply breathtaking, especially as the sun paints the sky with its mesmerizing colors during sunset. As if that weren't enough, we're treated to the sight of people honing their rowing skills out on the lake. It's an exhilarating experience!

R D Tata gave fruition to the Founder’s vision, inculcating sports as an integral part of Tata Steel’s corporate philosophy. The Company’s commitment towards the promotion of sports is manifested through separate departments for football, archery, athletics and more. Over time, an impressive array of infrastructure, matching international standards to support sports has been built.

It's a great place to have a crazy football match. There are proper sitting arrangements, lighting is good, and the stadium is really really good. It is a good place for learning different sports as they also provide assistance and coaching. Locals love to come here as the prices are also moderately charged. The only thing is that, the seats must be cleaned before matches and the food inside must be a bit cheaper. But all in all it's a very good arena.
Prateek P — Google review
An excellent place for sports enthusiasts and lovers. Well maintained by Tata Steel and is the pride of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand. With world class sports infrastructure ranging from athletics to football, cricket, swimming, gym, indoor sports facilities, boxing, martial arts, archery, mountaineering and much more. It's kind of a cradle of sports in Jamshedpur and around. It has produced few of the world class sports personalities of fame and repute. Tata Steel is not just business it's A WAY OF LIFE....

Park
Tata Steel Zoological Park, established in 1994, is a riverfront park located within Jubilee Park. It serves as a natural habitat for various animals including deer, lions, tigers, hippos, rabbits, ducks, monkeys, birds and more. The park offers a 'Safari' option for visitors to enjoy animal sightings without extensive walking. Additionally, there are amenities for children such as swings and slides.
Tucked like a gem inside Jamshedpur’s Jubilee Park, the Tata Steel Zoological Park is what you get when a steel city decides to go soft on nature. It's not just a zoo — it’s where roaring tigers and chirping birds rub shoulders (okay, metaphorically) with the spirit of corporate social responsibility. And boy, do they make it work! The Jungle in the City Forget about overcrowded cages and sulking animals. This zoo is more like an open-air luxury resort for wildlife, nestled amidst lush greenery and a picturesque lake. Managed by the Tata Steel Zoological Society (yes, the same folks who give us Corus and cricket sponsorships), the place is a brilliant example of how industry and environment can walk hand in paw. Fun and Furry Facts: - Established in 1994, this is one of the very few privately managed zoos in India — and honestly, it shows in the maintenance. Think manicured lawns, clean enclosures, and animals who look genuinely content (or at least not existentially bored). - The Nature Education Centre is perfect for the budding Attenboroughs — interactive, informative, and sprinkled with enough trivia to make you the cool nerd at parties. - Jayanti Sarovar, the lake inside the zoo, offers boating. Yup, you can row your boat gently past the ducks while monkeys judge your rowing skills from a distance. - The zoo houses over 100 species of animals and birds, from the majestic white tigers and leopards to the adorable otters and macaws. - The Safari Park lets you observe herbivores up close in their “natural” habitat — without needing to channel your inner Bear Grylls. Final Verdict: Tata Steel Zoo is like the lovechild of a wildlife documentary and a Sunday picnic. It’s peaceful, educational, and surprisingly charming. Whether you’re a family with sugar-hyped kids or a solo wanderer with a camera and a dream, this place won’t disappoint.

Very nice and huge zoo and a great experience for kids. Can spend all the day. Ideal time to see animals in 11 am to 4 pm, post which they go to their cage for food. It's better if you can walk and roam , they also have boogie cars inside , 400 rupees per car for 8 seats.

Tata Zoological Park is a small but very beautiful and well-maintained zoo in Jamshedpur. The place is clean, peaceful, and perfect for a short nature outing. The animals here look really healthy and well cared for — you can tell by just looking at them that the staff takes great care of their health and surroundings. 🐯🦓 We visited almost near closing time, so many animals had already gone back to their cages for feeding, but it was still a lovely experience. There’s also a good arrangement for visitors who prefer not to walk — 7-seater electric cars are available to take you around the zoo, which is a great facility for families and elderly people. 🚗🌿 Overall, it’s a cute and calm zoo, great for kids, families, and animal lovers. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Jamshedpur! 💚

The park was just average. in my honest opinion not well maintained the animals are not that healthy or energetic. Lots of people are eating outside food in the park and thrashes are thrown carelessly. getting vehicle tours is a long and time taking process but the drivers are good and very helpful. the fees are affordable.

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a stunning natural retreat nestled in the hills, renowned for its thriving elephant population and lush greenery. This sanctuary offers an array of forested hiking trails that invite adventure seekers to explore its serene landscapes. The winding roads leading up to the sanctuary provide breathtaking views, making it a perfect spot for sightseeing under the warm winter sun. As you wander through this tranquil haven, you'll encounter diverse wildlife, including various bird species and playful insects.
I would still rate it 5 stars because of the pristine beauty and the clean surroundings. The lush forest ensures the survival of animals and the pathway is amazing for hikes in the morning. Just one tip-i know there's a shop just at the ticket counter but a lot of people come in the morning from far away. So it would be awesome if water and some food items like biscuit or egg and bread is sold for the visitors

The forest offers a perfect blend of adventure and serenity. The drive through the winding hill roads is scenic and thrilling, especially with occasional wildlife sightings. The lush greenery, fresh air, and panoramic views from the hilltop are a treat for anyone seeking a break from city life. One of the highlights is the Sunrise Point, where early morning visitors can witness a breathtaking sunrise above the misty forest. There are also watchtowers and trekking trails for those who love to explore on foot.

Such a disappointed visit !!! Since the animals were aggressive the safari’s are closed for the time being. The museum was also closed. They allowed to take our car inside and the fees for car was 600/- and then per person 10/-. The only thing we are supposed to do was go till the top of the mountain to see the temple and the view from there, which we didn’t proceed after travelling few kilometres inside. Types of Deers kind of became sight of sore eyes 👀. Parking space available and small food and drinks shop is also there. I could see samosa and some other fried items were also there. Lavatories are available too.

We spontaneously planned a weekend road trip from Kolkata to Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. We left Kolkata on a Saturday morning at 6:30 AM and arrived around 2:00 PM, including a few stops along the way. Our breaks included Kolaghat and the Jharkhand border, where we had lunch at Delhi Darbar Dhaba. 1) Accommodation Since it was a last-minute plan, we booked a mud house online a week in advance for ₹600. Upon arrival, we paid an additional ₹900 for the room and a ₹600 car access fee for the sanctuary, which was valid until the next day. 2)Food We had a delicious dinner at the JH Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary Research Development Center campus, where the bamboo houses are located. The meal was truly tasty, consisting of chicken curry, vegetable curry, and aloo choka. 3) Exploring Dalma On our first day, we explored the local areas and Chandil Dam, where we enjoyed boating. The next morning, we drove to the hilltop. You can take your car all the way to the top, where you'll find a watchtower and temples dedicated to Hanuman Ji and Shiva Ji. The views made it feel like we were in a North Bengal hill station! After returning to the mud house, we checked out and headed to Dimna Lake. This was our enjoyable 2-day, 1-night trip. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a great option for a weekend road trip!

Dalma Hills are situated at a distance of approx 13 km from Jamshedpur and is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in the land. It is situated at an altitude of 3000 ft. The views from the hills are breathtaking. The dense forests, wildlife sanctuary and Lord Shiva temple attract tourists in great numbers. Trekking and rock climbing are two activities that adventure enthusiasts can engage in. Winter is the ideal season to visit. Close to Jamshedpur, the Dalma Sanctuary is the best elephant habitat in Jharkhand. The pachyderms love to spend their summer here. Unlike Palamau that usually reels under a scorching sun, it continues to be pleasant at Dalma with temperatures mostly under 300C. Elephants migrate to this sanctuary because of the availability of water during summer. The next best choice for getting the closest possible. January To December 9:00am To 5:00pm.

If you like thrilling then visit during monsoon but that time safari remain close you can visit only Dalma hill top, Oct is the best time if you like safari and want to see wild elephant.

Peaceful in greenery around. It's a different experience which one should experience specially the jungle safari. Better to take guide and do the safari in their designated safari jeeps. As they know the spots where you can get to watch the elephants and other animals and birds. Going by your own vehicle for the safari will be costing @ 600/ per vehicle and then tickets for individuals. The best is the Hill top here where you can enjoy the Sunset.

Just Amezing travelling spot.❤️❤️. 🌿 Ayodhya Hills is a serene escape! Winding roads lead through emerald forests to scenic hilltop views, waterfalls, dams & quaint tribal villages. Stayed at Akash Hilltop Resort—cozy cottages with breathtaking sunsets 🌅. Food was fresh local Bengali & chicken curry—limited menu but delightful. Routes from Purulia are adventurous; best in SUV. Bring water/snacks and pre-book your guesthouse. Truly a hidden hill-country delight! 🚙🍃 Verdant forests, winding mountain roads, peaceful reservoirs, and tribal culture—this place has it all. Trek the undulating Eastern Ghat slopes, soak in Bamni and Turga Falls, or just relax by the sparkling dams. Perfect for nature lovers and photographers ✨📸 Nearest station is Barabhum or Purulia. From there, take a shared jeep or taxi to Baghmundi (≈‌30–45 km, 1–2 hr) and continue via winding uphill roads to the hilltop. Govt. WBFDC guest houses (Niharika, Malabika): Budget-friendly (≈₹500–1200/night), basic AC/Non‑AC rooms, must book in advance via Kolkata office. In-hotel guesthouse meals: Basic local Bengali + tribal fare—rice, roti, dal, posto vada, chicken. Pre-order needed; no outside eateries once on hill . Oct–Mar for perfect weather; Feb–Mar for vibrant palash bloom; monsoons lush, but roads tricky Local guides ~₹200/day can help navigate trails & waterfalls . Sita Kund (legendary spring) & mini temple at Bagandi—myth-lovers’ delight Mayur Pahar (Peacock Hill)—panoramic views + temple spot Bamni & Turga Falls—lush, scenic waterfall treks through forest.🙏🙏

Dassam Falls

Dassam Falls is a serene and picturesque tourist spot situated on the Kanchi River. It boasts of a magnificent 144ft waterfall which reaches its peak between October and March. The place is perfect for family picnics as it remains beautiful and calm even during summer, with no-plastic policy in place. Visitors can also enjoy light refreshments from various stalls while their children play at the small park available nearby.
A few days back, I had the opportunity to visit Dassam Falls, located near Ranchi in Jharkhand, and it was an absolutely refreshing experience. The natural beauty, the sound of the cascading water, and the overall vibe of the place left me feeling peaceful and rejuvenated. The falls are around 40 km from Ranchi and easily accessible by road. The journey itself is scenic, with greenery on both sides. Once you reach the falls, the sound of water crashing down from about 44 meters high is simply mesmerizing. There are steps built to take you closer to the base of the waterfall, allowing a great view and some amazing photo opportunities. The water flow was strong during my visit due to the monsoon season, which made it even more majestic. However, I noticed that there are clear warning signs not to go into the water, as the current can be dangerous — and it’s best to respect those. Things I liked: Clean and well-maintained surroundings Great spot for photography and nature lovers Ample parking space Small stalls nearby for snacks and tea A few tips for visitors: Avoid getting into the water for safety reasons Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to walk down the stairs Best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon for full water flow Early morning or late afternoon visits are more peaceful and less crowded Overall, Dassam Falls is a must-visit natural attraction in Jharkhand, especially if you're around Ranchi. A great place to enjoy with friends, family, or even solo if you're looking for some nature therapy. 📸 I clicked some beautiful photos during my visit — it’s definitely Instagram-worthy!

Absolutely beautiful spot! The waterfall looks straight out of a wallpaper, and the sound of the rushing water just hits different total stress relief. It’s the perfect place for a short escape, photos, and chilling with friends. Just a small tip: the rocks can be slippery, so channel your inner adventurer carefully 😅. The atmosphere feels peaceful, the view is breathtaking, and once you go there, you’ll realize why everyone keeps talking about this place.

It is located approximately 45 kilometers from Ranchi and is known for its spectacular views, rocky terrain, and lush green surroundings. The falls are a major tourist attraction, with activities like swimming at the base, trekking, picnicking, and adventure activities like zip-lining available.

Visited Hundru Falls recently, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience! 🌊✨ The waterfall is truly majestic, surrounded by lush greenery and scenic beauty that makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers. The sound of the falling water and the cool breeze create such a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. The place is well worth the visit, especially during or just after the monsoon when the flow is at its best. However, visitors should be cautious while walking near the rocks as they can be slippery. A little improvement in cleanliness and basic facilities around the area would make the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful and memorable trip — a perfect escape into nature’s beauty! 🌿💦

Perfect place, only checked the upper side, no entrance fee there. Go weekdays before lunch to avoid crowds. Protect the environment, dont litter!

It's a nice place to visit. Whether you're a photographer seeking drama, a traveler craving solitude, or a storyteller like you looking to pair visuals with emotion, Hundru delivers. The sound of the water crashing, the cool spray on your face, and the sheer scale of the drop—it’s humbling, exhilarating, and oddly comforting all at once. Visit during or just after the monsoon for peak flow, but tread carefully—the rocks get slippery and the current fierce. Early morning light adds a golden glow that’s perfect for nostalgic edits or pairing with a soulful track.

Beautiful place to visit.. Water is very clear and the is shallow water so kids can enjoy too.. Only demerit is that you have to climb down a steep slope which may be difficult for some people especially elderly people.

The waterfall is very good. They take you near the waterfall in a boat which they ride by a rope. The charges are 40rs per person. It's a good picnic spot. The area is not very populated. I prefer to go there in a big group.

Perfect place to enjoy your weekends. Lots of space for cooking if you arr here for picnic and a great view with clear water to enjoy. Water level isn't much deeper but still take care of yourself while entering in water.

One of the best picnic spots in Jharkhand. The scenic view will satisfy the nature cravers. The road between the parking spot and the river is little tricky as its a slope.

Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, located in the heart of Ranchi, Jharkhand, is a sprawling 104-hectare zoo that beautifully integrates wildlife with its natural forested terrain. This park stands out as one of India's most popular zoos due to its stunning landscapes and diverse animal inhabitants. The gentle undulations of the land combined with lush greenery and ample water sources create an ideal habitat for various species to thrive comfortably.
It was a good experience with my kid and family. The walk was quite long nonetheless. This is mostly because we missed to hire a buggy at the entrance (highly recommended if you are with kids and elderly). The park is very neat and clean other than the usual animal smell nothing else. Considering the weather and heat, we felt The Black Bear was more welcoming than others 🤫😬. I know that my kid enjoyed the walk in the zoo. The timing to visit I felt like entry by 10:15/10:30 and exit by 01:00/01:30 PM to be ideal with kids and elderly. Carry water and small snacks but make sure to use dustbins when done. Variety of birds, animals and reptiles are in the zoo. Overall I will say a good experience.

From majestic leopards to colorful parrots and playful monkeys, each enclosure is well-maintained and offers a close glimpse of nature’s diversity. The lush greenery and clean pathways make the visit pleasant and refreshing. Informative signboards enhance the learning experience. A canteen is available inside, offering food and refreshments to keep you energized during the visit. It’s a great place to explore, enjoy, and connect with wildlife in a safe and organized environment. Highly recommended!

Birsa Zoological Park, Ranchi, is one of the best-maintained zoos in eastern India. The environment is peaceful, clean, and surrounded by dense greenery — perfect for a family outing or a quiet walk. The animals are well cared for, and information boards help visitors learn about each species. The kids’ area and safari rides add extra excitement, especially for children. The ticket prices are reasonable, and facilities like drinking water, restrooms, and food stalls are available. Parking is also well managed. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ranchi who wants to relax close to nature and wildlife. 🌿🐅

One of the gems of Ranchi. Situated at NH on Ranchi Patna Road. It’s also called the Ormanjhi Zoo. Has ample Parking space. We booked the tickets online, can be purchased on counter too. I preferred this to avoid the queue however there wasn’t any rush as such. Inside you get battery operated cars which can be booked at 300/-. There is waiting always for the same. Keep half an hour as wait period for this. In terms of animals and condition of the park - it’s really well kept and maintained. Very good experience for kids and adults too. There is a snake world inside, don’t miss that.. :)

The visit was not of good taste.we 4 Adults and 2 children aged 4 & 2 years reached at 3=30 PM. The moment we reached at the entrance Gate,A loud sound frightened us Which was due to fall of DRY BRANCH of Tall Dry Tree standing just near the First Turn of the Entrance Gate.By GOD Grace We escaped unhurt for few inches. The intensity of impact can be gauged by the bend Corrugated sheet nearby . We made an Entry and went straight for hiring vehicle at around 3=35 PM Where we got another as No vehicle was available.Enquiry revealed that only 3 small vehicles are plying and rest are under Breakdown including the Big one.We somehow managed to walk a little with 2 small children and left disappointed.

Very good park to visit. Here you can see many type of birds like ostrich, kiwi, white duck, black buck etc and many types of animals like elephant, lion, beer, crocodile , alligator etc . You need atleast 2 hours to visit all places of park. Here a dhaba is also available where you can eat but little expensive. Such a great experience to visit. Atleast you should visit once in your life.

Its a zoo + nature park + botanical garden + children's amusement park + wildlife reserve, rescue. Everything in one place. And best of all the location, extremely easy to get there via nh 33. Been here dozens of time and yesterday went with people from my hometown. Everyone had the best time. Boating for some reason wasn't available this time. But white tiger is the latest feature of this place. Must visit if you're coming to Ranchi. And yes do come in light clothing. You will have to walk a lot, 5-6 kms easily, although a golf cart sevice is also there but I don't recommend it. Don't be lazy while you're out to enjoy :)

Jagannath Mandir

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Shree Jagannath Temple, located about 10 km from the main city of Ranchi, is a 17th-century shrine that bears a striking resemblance to the famous temple in Puri. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and houses statues of many other deities. The temple's antique and traditional architecture is well-maintained, offering visitors a spectacular view of the mesmerizing city of Ranchi.
Nestled on the serene hilltop of Ranchi’s Dhurwa region, the iconic Jagannath Mandir is a spiritual symphony echoing the grandeur of its Puri namesake — but with a smaller crowd, cooler breeze, and a charming rustic vibe that feels both ancient and intimate. Not Just a Temple—It’s a Legacy in Laterite Built in 1691 by the king of Barkagarh, Thakur Ani Nath Shahdeo, this temple is older than many of India’s railway stations and certainly more peaceful. The architectural style bears a close resemblance to the iconic Jagannath Temple of Puri, but it's crafted in the local laterite stone and has a distinctly tribal influence that gives it a character all its own. Here's the kicker: the temple was partially destroyed due to aging and structural decay, but thanks to public devotion and ASI-supported renovations, it's now standing tall like a phoenix in sandstone robes. When Tradition Takes the Hill — Literally Every year during the Rath Yatra, the temple transforms into a cultural carnival, drawing thousands who brave the hilltop climb with the zeal of true pilgrims and the cardio strength of seasoned trekkers. The idols of Lords Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Lady Subhadra are paraded in a vibrant chariot procession — think spiritual parade meets community reunion. Fascinating Tidbits: - The climb to the temple involves about 200+ steps, and if you're lucky, the setting sun will reward your effort with a panoramic Ranchi skyline dipped in gold. - Despite being lesser-known nationally, this temple is immensely significant to the tribal communities of Jharkhand, blending Vedic rituals with local customs. - According to local lore, some of the stones used in its reconstruction were brought from Odisha, maintaining a spiritual umbilical cord with Puri. A Reflective Wrap-Up: If faith had a postcode in Jharkhand, it would be the Jagannath Mandir, Dhurwa. It’s sacred without the chaos, spiritual without the sermon, and historic without the ego. Go for the peace, stay for the view, and come back for the Rath Yatra!

Jagannath Mandir in Jagannathpur, Ranchi is truly a peaceful and divine place. The temple is situated at a beautiful and elevated location, offering a serene atmosphere that helps you disconnect from the noise of daily life. The architecture of the temple resembles the famous Jagannath Temple in Puri, and it’s both spiritual and visually captivating. The surroundings are clean, well-maintained, and ideal for families and devotees. Whether you’re visiting for prayers or just looking to spend some quiet, reflective time, this temple provides a calming experience. The panoramic view of Ranchi from the hilltop adds to the overall charm.

Jagannath Temple Ranchi, Jharkhand 💞 The Jagannath Temple, located in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, is a major religious site. This temple, dedicated to Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, was established in the mid-20th century. 💞 Built in the Odisha style, this temple offers a glimpse of the Puri Jagannath Temple in Ranchi. Wooden idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra are installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Paintings and carvings in Rajasthani and Odisha styles can be seen on the walls. 💞 The main tower and wide courtyard are built on the highest peak of the temple. 💞 The temple complex houses small umbrellas and pillars, along with shrines to other deities, which convey a sense of historical and religious significance. 💞 The temple's color scheme is predominantly white and pink, making it even more attractive. 💞 Famous for the Jagannath Rath Yatra, this temple also celebrates festivals like Janmashtami, Ramnavami, and Ramanavami, in addition to the Rath Yatra. Special pujas and ceremonies are held during major Hindu festivals like Diwali. A dining hall and restrooms are available within the temple complex for devotees to enjoy the feast and distribute prasad. Parking is also available around the temple. ✅ Thank you 🙏

Tagore Hill is a picturesque hilltop in Ranchi, offering serene walks, picnics, and breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Situated at an altitude of 2140 feet above sea level, it's a popular health and holiday retreat with significant cultural and religious importance. The hill is home to the Shiva Temple and is associated with revered pilgrimage during Shravanmas.
I was also under the impression that Tagore hill is named after Ravindranath Tagore but no it’s named after Jyotirindranath Tagore. You can read about the same in one of the images posted. This place is beautiful, you can come here to relax.

Beautiful spot with amazing views and a peaceful vibe perfect for morning walks or just relaxing away from the city. The hill offers a refreshing escape and some great photo opportunities. However, the infrastructure could use some improvement, and safety is a concern in certain areas, especially near edges and steep paths. With a little more maintenance and security, this place could easily be a full 5-star experience.

This is where Jatindranath Tagore (Rabindranath Tagore's elder brother) stayed after his wife expired. Rabindranath Tagore used to come here to stay here as well. There are a lot of stairs you need to climb so its not suitable for elderly person. It gives a panoramic view of the city. It is located in quite an uptown place in Ranchi. Its a must visit place. The stairs to the hill top are not in good condition and needs maintenance.

Visited Kanke Dam during my bike ride through Ranchi, and it instantly became one of those peaceful places you remember long after leaving. The calm water reflecting the orange evening sky, the distant hum of the city fading away — it’s where Ranchi feels truly alive yet completely still. The road leading to the dam is smooth and scenic, with small local tea stalls along the way. I crashed at my friend’s place just beside kanke dam and just watched the sunset paint everything gold. The crowd is mixed — couples, locals on evening walks, and travellers looking for quiet corners. What makes Kanke Dam special is its simplicity — no flashy decorations, just raw, natural beauty. You’ll often see ducks gliding across the water and kids cycling near the edge. It’s a great spot for photography, calm reflection, or just unwinding after a long day. Tips: – Best time: Early morning or evening for soft light and cool breeze – Carry snacks if you plan to sit longer; limited stalls nearby – Respect the silence — it’s part of the charm 🌤️

Nestled amidst the verdant embrace of Ranchi's countryside, Kanke Dam emerges as a serene sanctuary, beckoning travelers to bask in the tranquil ambiance of its scenic splendor. Enveloped by lush foliage and cradled by rolling hills, the dam's expansive reservoir mirrors the ethereal hues of the azure sky, creating a mesmerizing tableau that enchants the senses. Here, amidst the symphony of nature, visitors find solace in the gentle lapping of water against the dam's shores and the rustle of leaves in the breeze. Boating enthusiasts can embark on leisurely voyages across the placid waters, while leisure seekers find sanctuary upon the dam's banks, where sprawling lawns invite languid picnics and contemplative strolls. However, despite its natural allure, Kanke Dam grapples with the challenge of inadequate facilities, including limited seating and restroom amenities, which may detract from the overall visitor experience. Moreover, the absence of diversified recreational offerings might leave some yearning for more engagement opportunities. Nonetheless, Kanke Dam stands as an emblem of tranquility and natural grandeur, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in the timeless charm of Ranchi's hinterland.
