People with acrophobia may ensure precautions The bridge would be nearly 1 KM long and 115 ft high

It's a unique tourist spot which allows you to walk the length of the water channel and have a mesmerizing view of the greens around. Long weekend traffic and people can get very high in numbers so plan accordingly. If you get down on the other side then the way back up has lots of steps so be mindful of that. There's a small pond below where you can get in and have bath or fun in the water but that too can get crowded. Lots of small shops selling tea/coffee and fruits are there. The humidity is unbearable so wear a wet bandana around your neck and extremely light t shirts or tops/bottoms.

Mathoor Aqueduct is a scenic and peaceful spot with breathtaking views of the river and surrounding landscape. Walking along the aqueduct is a unique experience, perfect for photography. We also bought some fresh pineapples nearby they were sweet and delicious! Basic facilities like toilets and seating areas could be improved, and parking is limited. Overall, a great place for nature lovers and a relaxing visit.

Constructed as a drought relief mechanism for water to flow from one hill to the another. Can walk through the entire stretch on the top of the aqueduct, has stunning view of hills on both sides and a deep view of a river flowing below. The probable best time to visit is early morning or after 4PM, around sunrise or sunset could have the best sky colors. Other times during the day could be exhausting; scorching heat 🥵 and pouring sweat 😓

This is one of the engineering wonders in Tamilnadu. But when we went there, it was under maintenance and were asked to get down, go around and then climb the bridge again to see the aqueduct. Would be difficult for elders to do it. And on the other side, it could be maintained better as there were lot of garbage around. Nevertheless, Beautiful place.

Mathur Aqueduct is one of the longest aqueduct in Asia and in TN. Once you walk and reach centre of duct, one can see vast expanse of greenery, with rolling hills of the Western Ghats in the background, along with meandering river flowing below. The view is ecstatic during sunset. Only issue is bit problem of connectivity....

One of the best waterfalls nearby Trivandrum. It’s clean and its way spreader, so more people can enjoy at the same time, lack of clean toilets is a disadvantage and also the ticket for packing is 50 for cars and entry is 20. Nice ambience and can be enjoyed with friends and families as well. Changing room are available nearby as well. Also some cloth shops at the entrance provide dress changing rooms, if we purchase something from them, that is also a good option too.

Visited this waterfalls recently during the rainy season, and it was truly a beautiful experience. The waterfall was in full flow, offering a breathtaking view of nature’s power and beauty. Due to the heavy water flow, we couldn’t swim or take a bath, but just watching the falls was refreshing and worth the trip. The surroundings, however, could be maintained better, the area was not very clean, which was a bit disappointing. Still, the overall experience was nice, peaceful, and perfect for a one day getaway. I have Visited Thriparappu Waterfalls recently — and honestly, it’s such a refreshing spot! The place is surrounded by greenery and the view is just beautiful. The waterfall isn’t too high, but the flow is strong enough to enjoy a nice shower under it. Great place to relax, click pictures, and just enjoy nature. There’s a small entry fee of 10 rupees and parking area nearby, plus a few local shops for snacks and tea. It can get crowded on weekends, so going early is a good idea. I will suggest you to visit around 8:30 AM to avoid crowd..Overall, a perfect short trip spot for families and friends This waterfall is just 50 km from Trivandrum International airport and railway station. Also it’s around 50 km from Kanyakumari.

Nearby, there’s a Forest Department office, a cafeteria, and a crocodile park—though the latter could certainly benefit from better maintenance. One of the most exciting features is the variety of boat trips available within the dam, including a longer safari-style excursion. Overall, the experience is enjoyable and memorable. However, it’s hard to ignore the missed potential. The tourism department appears to be underperforming, especially given the vast opportunities available to develop the area into a major attraction. Right now, it feels like a beautiful title waiting for the poem to be written. A sincere request to the government: show the commitment and vision needed to transform this naturally gifted location into a world-class destination for travelers from around the globe.

Neyyar wildlife sanctuary has boating service along with elephant visits, deer visits, crocodile visits. Ticket fare is 100rs per adult. It's a very good view through the boat. The park has 2 elephants of one male and one female, lot of deers and you can see monkeys too. There will be guide who guides you and also convey all the information regarding park and animals. In the area where crocodiles are placed, has a python too. Each crocodiles are kept in separate cage. When you move forward you can go to the neyyar dam. A watch tower, dam, children's park, aquarium, swimming pool are provided. As all those near by, it will be a good spot.

Nice place situated near to Neyyar dam. We visited after rainy season so that there was water in the reservoir. There is no lion safari now. It is closed and there are no lions now. Picturesque views. We could able to see parts of hills from agastyarkoodam, kurishumala etc. There were three packages available. We took package-1 which covers deer park,crocodile park,elephants (1 big and 1 young one) and boating for 1 hour at 2900/-. Guides were there inorder to provide the information all the time. Boating was so good with panoramic views. Only 2-3 crocodiles are there in the crocodile park. We have to walk through a small narrow forest path unordered to see the deer park which was nice. We heard from one of the employee that all the lions are dead so that they have to shut down the safari. Earlier at a point, there were 16 male lions and it was difficult to feed them. And there were no profit from the sanctuary also. So one doctor approved for the sterilization procedure which made them infertile. It was a sad story.

All the elephants are rescued animals. Visiting for the 2nd time and this time due to heavy rain during monsoon the pathway was blocked by fallen trees and electric lines hence could not view the elephant feeding and bathing and I was taken for a limited sighting of elephants. But the rain made the atmosphere and greenery looks even better. This place also has a couple of trekking options. Location is around 15 km from kattakada. Must visit when visiting Trivandrum.

I recently visited the Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre in Trivandrum, and it was a unique experience! The center is located in a beautiful forest area, providing a natural habitat for rescued elephants. We reached there by 4PM, we got a chance to see the feeding sessions. Located just 40 km away from Coutralam Falls, this mesmerizing spot is far less crowded, making it a peaceful escape. Though the waterfall here is smaller in height, the force of the water is incredible—you literally can’t stand against it! It pushes you right off your spot, which makes it super fun, especially when you're with a group of friends. 🎉 Right next to the falls, you’ll find a dam, which is quite rare to witness together. I’ve never seen a dam and waterfall side by side like this—it’s truly a unique experience! They’ve thoughtfully provided separate dress changing rooms for ladies, ensuring privacy and safety. 👍 The same road also leads to Manjolai, which is a restricted forest area where entry is not allowed without special permission. This entire place is under the control of the Forest Department, and there are strict security checks. A beautiful place which is not maintained properly. Park looks like graveyard. Government could have taken steps to maintain it properly. Proper checking has been done before entering the falls which was appreciable. If everything is maintained well,it will be one of the best tourist spot in Tirunelveli .

Agasthiyar falls are on the way from Papanasam temple to the dam area. One has to walk 500 m to get to the falls from the parking area. Most of the people going there take a bath in the falls. A separate bathing area and dress changing facility is provided for women. Overall a nice picnic spot. It was good but they allow only up to 5 pm. Overall it was nice place to spend some time. Water was clean and there is a special Siva temple which should be visited... the water falls was not a very big one. separate bathing area for gents and ladies.ladies crowd also large and ladies area also small. for gents it quite large and crows also less. the area not so neat.weekends will be crowded.water flow was good when we went on august.the road from papanasam checkpost will be narrow and hilly.probablity of trafiic jam during weekend is very high. we had 2 hours of jam. beware of monkey. only two small hotels are there near the falls. during break fast they serve poori and idly and lunch only tomotto rice and curd rice. dont miss kalyana theertham the path way is not neat. but the view point is good and temple above is very divine.

Nellaiyappar temple Such a monumental temple with extraordinary architecture. It was simply blissful to be there. Temple is just in the heart of Tirunelveli. There are multiple temples inside the campus. It’s will definitely take more than 1 hour to complete all gods. If you are a spiritual and architect lovers. You shouldn’t miss to visit this temple.

A 2nd biggest siva temple in world,with very huge 3(3 for ambal + 3 for shiva)pragarams. Gomathy ambal is very gorgeous 😍 (gnanasakthi swaroopam). I have given 5 starts because every inch of the temple are very clean , Management is not shown that much interest in commercializing darshan( No 100rs,50 rs tickets for darshan) only 5 rs that too not required for all days . I really felt shivas heaven when I entered near garbhagraham of nellaiyappar .I suggest all to visit arround 5.30 Am to see the thiruvanathal sevai ,you will never forget the temple in life

Visited Arulmigu Kasi Viswanathar Temple and it was wonderful. The tall Gopuram and beautiful carvings are stunning. The temple is peaceful and a large space area with neat and clean maintaining atmosphere. It's a great place to visit for anyone who loves history, spirituality, or just wants to experience something beautiful. Everyone visiting courtallam and nearby areas must visit this temple.

This was my 2nd visit after 11 years. Not changed much. A simple temple. Good architecture not great like tanjavur. But still it is an important temple in the region.

Every time in upstairs when I see the majestic gopuram, it feels truly divine. When we enter the temple , the air itself seems to welcome us with a sacred energy. The darshan of the Shiva Lingam is so powerful that it brings goosebumps & tears to the eyes. A must visit temple that fills the heart with devotion and peace.

A must visit Temple when visiting Tenkasi, A peaceful and delightful experience visiting this 🛕. The surroundings of this temple also was neat and well maintained when we visited. The only issue we found here was the provision for parking, we must be lucky enough to find a spot. Tenkasi is built around the Kasi Viswanathar temple. The temple has a seven-tiered gopuram (temple tower) and has concentric granite walls that enshrines all the shrines in the temple. The temple has a pillared hall from the entrance leading to the flagstaff hall. The sanctum is located axial to the entrance facing east. The image of Kasi Viswanathar in the form of lingam is housed in the sanctum. The images of Vinayaka and Subramanya are located on either side of the hall leading to the sanctum

I visited the Thiruchendur Murugar Temple last month. The temple is located near the seashore, and the surroundings looked very beautiful. Before going to the temple, I went to the beach and the Nazhikinaru Theertham, which are close to the temple. The sea breeze was cool and refreshing, and many people were enjoying themselves on the beach. I also visited Nazhikinaru, a small sacred well near the shore. The water there was surprisingly sweet, even though it is so close to the salty sea. I washed my hands and sprinkled a little water on my head before heading to the temple. After that, I entered the temple. The tall gopuram looked majestic, and I could hear devotional songs and temple bells. The temple was crowded with devotees but very clean and well managed. I slowly moved in the queue and had a nice darshan of Lord Murugar, who was beautifully decorated with flowers and ornaments. After the darshan, I received prasadam — warm and tasty sakkarai pongal. Then I went to the annadhanam hall, where they served hot food to all visitors. The meal was simple but delicious, and the volunteers served everyone kindly. Before leaving, I bought some small souvenirs from the nearby shops. My visit to Thiruchendur Murugar Temple was a happy and memorable experience.

One among the 6 famous temples of lord murugan. The uniqueness of this temple is that all other 5 temples are located on a hill top or near a hill, but Tiruchendur is the only temple which is located near the sea shore. This temple is famous for the function kantha shasti or soora samharam, in which lord Subramaniya alias lord murugan kills the asuran Soorabhathman and saves the Devas from his torture. This temple is under the control of the Ministry of HR&CE , Government of Tamilnadu . Government has taken many measures to develop and increase the amenities for the people and the pilgrims to facilitate ease of movement of the crowd to worship the Lord Subramaniya and Lord Shanmuga which are the main deities of the temple.

Temple is near to beach. You can see sunrise and sunset while in the queue. It is not just a temple but a place full of peacocks. Beautiful nature. You can find budget friendly lodge near temple. We did not take any special ticket for darshan as it was weekday and no special occasion. But during occasion please opt for special darshan, it can reduce waiting time in queue. Definitely stay for a day and enjoy the beach view as well.

The temple just gives you peace , a different kind of energy you can feel once you enter the temple premises, for adults who are above 60 years of age can show there aadhaar can have a quick entry in the queue. This benefits are even for a new born. Along with a elder or a new born one can accompany. We get paneer leaf vibhoothi which is available inside the temple before darshan. Special queues are there that cost you around 100/- per person. Naali kinaru was in construction by the time we visited.

A minor basilica is a title given by the Catholic Church to churches that are recognized for their historical significance, architectural beauty, and spiritual importance. To become a minor basilica, a church must meet certain criteria and follow a formal process. Here are the key requirements: It must have a historical significance, architectural merits and spiritual importance. This Church has all the 3 requirements. In addition it houses the holy relic of Our Mother Mary's veil ( a small slice). The main Statue brought from Portugal is credited with many miracles. Many of the statues here are brought from France and elsewhere in Europe. You will find that the Church still has strong roots of Catholicism - from the Latin words at the main altar - Sancta Maria - ora Pro Nobis - meaning Holy Mary - Pray for Us, to the grotto depicting Our lady of Lourdes. It even has a statue of our lady of Guadalupe here. If you travel to this part of tamil nadu, this Pani Madha Koil is one of the main points of attraction.

Just about a km and half from the Railway station, normally a cab or tuk tuk drive will cost only Rs.60 to reach the church the local drivers charge anywhere between Rs100-150. Can't crib over it. A quiet laid back place, fishing is the main occupation and business here.

Absolutely a nice and historical church to visit. But if your travelling from a long distance and preferred to stay at the church provided accommodation then please make sure you reach out to the right person with the different contactable number than the one that google advices to contact as it does not exist. Also there are limited rooms currently available and a huge gap in coordination. So, my great advice is to plan for the alternate arrangements for your stay to have a pleasant and divine experience.

Awesome experience with family during 10 days festival which will happen from July 26 to Aug 5. Especially this year it was very grand due to gold car festivals which used to happen every 10 years once. You will find more peace in the presence of madha and nearby you have muthu nagar beach where you can spend time with kids. As this church was built during the British period, it is part of tourism. Don't miss it if you visit tuticorin.

Must see location at RJPM. There will be a trek into deep forest and a Waterfall at the end. You are free to take bath. Families are much welcomed...! The best time to visit is November to January. Trek for short time period (Very easy). Take auto if you came by public transport. Bike and car can be park at the best place where you get shadow from the sunlight. Must check If there water flowing. Otherwise you got mocked...!

Saw about this temple online and planned for a visit during trip to tamilnadu. Temple gopuram was very captivating and you can see padmanabha swamy and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and andal birth place. This padmanabha swamy is very clearly visible and priest explained everyone around lord Vishnu and it is very beautiful. Definitely go and take blessings. No rush, no queue, no ticket, just peaceful visit.

This temple is about 10 minutes walk from Srivilliputhur bus stand. Went here on a weekday and this temple was not crowded. From the gopuram which we are we enter the main temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Andal temple is situated in left side of the Vishnu temple. We can take mobiles inside the Vishnu temple but mobile phones are not allowed inside Andal temple and mobiles have to be deposited at mobile keeping centres in front of Andal temple. The sculptures at Andal temple are great. Outside of temple on the road there are many shops which sell the famous Srivilliputhur palkova. Srivilliputhur does not have many hotel's or restaurants. That positive energy when you're entering into temple... Wow... This is the first shivan temple which is constructed. And one of the oldest trees is here that is 3000 years old

It is one of the most important Shiv temples of Bharat. It is believed that it is the first Shiv temple of the world. Another important aspect is the huge Nataraj vigrah which is housed in a separate sanctum. It is wonderful. It is difficult to imagine how an intricate one piece idol from Emerald would have sculpted. This idol is covered with sandal throughout the year. Only once in a year during arudra darshan festival in Nov Dec the old chandan is removed and new chandan is coated. At that time only one can see the uncoated form of Nataraj. The temple has beautiful colourful gopuram. There is quite a hustle outside temple with shops and parking space. Interiors of the temple are painted well.

A Spiritually Enriching Visit to One of the Oldest Shiva Temples – Uthirakosamangai This was our first visit to Uthirakosamangai Temple, and it was truly a spiritually fulfilling experience. We had been planning to visit this ancient temple for several months, and fortunately, a couple of days’ break gave us the perfect opportunity to finally make the trip. Also known as Mangalanatha Swamy Temple, this historic site is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. It is believed to be one of the earliest Shiva temples in existence, rich in history, legends, and deep spiritual energy. One of the temple's main attractions is the 6-foot-tall Maragatha Nataraja idol, carved entirely out of emerald (maragatham)—a truly rare and priceless representation of Lord Shiva in his cosmic dance form. Most of the year, this sacred idol is kept covered in sandalwood paste, and it is revealed to the public only once a year during the Arudra Darshan festival. The temple is also associated with a unique and powerful lingam called the Sahasralingam—a representation of 1000 lingams in one single structure, created as a tribute to 999 sages who, according to legend, offered their lives in devotion to Lord Shiva. A Glimpse into the Temple’s Mythology According to temple lore, Lord Shiva once appeared in Ravana’s palace as a child with a small wound. When Ravana tried to pick up the child, a fireball emerged from the temple pond (Agni Theertham). Fearing it was Shiva's wrath, 999 sages sacrificed themselves by jumping into the fire. One sage stayed back to protect the sacred scriptures, and Shiva, pleased with his devotion, appeared as the Sahasralingam. That lone sage is believed to have been reborn as the revered saint Manikkavacakar, who also has a special lingam dedicated to him within the temple. The temple’s name, Uthirakosamangai, signifies the place where Lord Shiva shared sacred knowledge with Goddess Parvati, making it an important center for both devotion and divine wisdom. Our Experience We visited the temple in the evening, and since the temple had recently undergone Kumbhabhishekam (consecration ceremony), it was quite crowded with devotees from nearby towns and villages. Despite the crowd, the experience was serene and well-organized. We could still see the Yaga Kundams (ritual fire altars) used during the ceremony, which added to the divine atmosphere. A highlight of our visit was seeing the ancient 3000-year-old Jujube (Elanthai) tree, which is believed to hold spiritual significance. This temple is also said to grant moksha (spiritual liberation) to 1000 Shiva devotees, further reinforcing its importance in Hindu belief and worship. Final Thoughts This temple is not just a place of worship—it’s a treasure trove of history, mythology, and divine presence. The architecture, the legends, and the spiritual ambiance make it a must-visit for Shiva devotees and anyone interested in ancient temples of India. If you're in or around Ramanathapuram, or planning a trip to southern Tamil Nadu, I highly recommend visiting Uthirakosamangai. A peaceful and memorable visit to Madurai Meenakshi Temple I recently visited the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and it was a beautiful experience. The temple is grand and full of history, with amazing carvings and colorful towers. At the moment, the towers are under renovation and painting work is going on, so most of them are covered. Still, the temple’s beauty and energy can be felt everywhere. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and spiritual. The darshan of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar felt very peaceful. Even though it was crowded, everything was fairly well organized. One thing to be careful about — there are a lot of people outside trying to mislead visitors, especially auto drivers and some shopkeepers. They might say there’s no cloakroom inside, but don’t believe that. There are official cloakrooms near all four temple towers where you can safely keep your slippers and mobile phones. This place is awesome. A lot of spiritual values with history. Located in between City. Market, shops, restaurant near by. Special Darshan can be available with 100 rs ticket for both temple inside the campus. Free darshan takes more time than usual. Now painting work is going on. And maybe it will six months atleast so now people not able to see it's beautiful architecture from outside. Mobile, Smart watch, earbuds etc not allowed inside temple. U can kept it in claok room with reasonable price less than 20rs accordingly. No special dress code required for this temple. Nearest junction is madurai and auto available easily or u can go by walk.

One of the most famous Temple of India , situation in Madurai. It's temple of Meenakshi Amman otherwise known as Devi Parvathi. Don't miss this temple ,it's also one of the oldest temple in India . Best time to visit will be during 5 or 6 AM in the morning,so that you can finish darshan in less than 30mins ,it gets crowded later in the day . I visited the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, and the experience was truly exceptional. I loved the temple with all my heart. The architecture is breathtaking, and they are still working on certain areas to make it even better. Every intricate detail on the walls is impressive and reflects the temple’s rich heritage. The people there are incredibly pure and kind-hearted. Their warmth and the way they treat visitors stood out to me—they genuinely make you feel respected and welcomed. Before entering the temple, there are a few important rules to follow. You must remove your shoes, and bags have to be deposited at the designated counters. Shoe storage is available for free at specific counters, which is very convenient. Mobile phones and electronic gadgets are not allowed inside the temple premises, and you cannot leave your phone inside your bag. There is a special counter meant only for mobile phones, where they charge ₹5 per phone. So if you are planning to visit, it’s best to come hands-free or carry only what’s necessary so you can enter peacefully and enjoy the temple without any hassle. Overall, it was a soulful and memorable experience, and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone traveling to Madurai.

We love this church because for so many reasons like, building architecture, statues and the way church organize every prayer. So many people visit this church for various issues and also for being thankful for the things that has happened after they visited this church. This place induce peace and special attachment to god.

Its one of the Lovely church in the south India., what an amazing architecture of this 100+ years old church and unbelievable statues inside and outside the church. Church is maintained very well and gives mind relaxation once you enter in. First Friday of every month is quite famous and many people used to visit for mass and followed by free food. One of my favorite church and love to visit frequently.

The Sacred Heart Church is an ancient church built in Gothic architectural style situated at Idaikattur, in Sivagangai District of Tamilnadu. It is about 36 km from Madurai and in close proximity to the National Highway leading to Rameshwaram from Madurai. This unique church of the sacred heart of Jesus was built in 1894 AD by a French missionary Fr. Ferdinand Celle SJ. This is a replica of the Rheims Cathedral in FranceIdaikattur Church is an architectural marvel. It is distinctive with its French style of Gothic architecture and its high vaulted roof supported by columns with cantilevers. The windows are adorned with small brick pillars with hollow flower bricks and stained glass which illustrate the events of the way of the cross vividly and skillfully. And since the church is located in an area where the climate is tropical, the hollow bricks have been artfully used reduce the heat. The gothic arches are festooned with rows of beads, flowers, garlands which are fabricated from terracotta.The main altar of the church is its most alluring feature. Its gothic façade which is of around 45 feet is consisted of God holding his son Jesus by his hand and Holy Spirit along with angels surrounding him. The altar here depicts the Christian doctrine – Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. The church also showcase exquisite stucco work, figures of saints, angels, St. Joseph, mother of sorrows and many others. Amazing examples of French art work can also be seen here. There are around 153 depictions of angels in this church.

This is a museum cum art gallery of the mandir. It contains old sculptures, rare photos and various artifacts. Ticket cost is ₹5 for adults, ₹2 for children, ₹50 for foreigners. Ticket counter is at the entrance itself. To observe and admire the artifacts atvleast 30 minutes time is required to be spent here. Overall experience is good.

It's one of beautiful place where it has different pillar carvings. Also it exhibits all statue exhibits along with some painting. They charge INR 5 per head so carry cash to enter. There is a musical pillar which you can see at an corner but can touch as it's barricaded

One of the tourist attraction depicting our ancient culture and all round developments of Pandya kings whose capital was Madurai. As the name suggested this Mandapam has approximately 1000 pillars. Exactly 985 Big pillars and 22 small pillars which produce musical notes are seen here. Very rare sculptures of Gods and Goddesses with ancient yalis, sculptures and warring animals, rare to see Manmadan and Rathi, Veerabadrar, Chockanathar, Natrajar etc are significant ones. It is a must visit museum with a very nominal fees.

Located inside the Meenkashi Amman Temple in the two and a half millenium old city of Madurai. The beauty of this construction is that standing at any point in this Mantapam, all the pillars appear to go away in a straight line from the point of viewing Each of the pillars is tall with life-like sculptures of mythical people The hall is large and very cool even in the blistering heat outside Nowadays photography isn't allowed inside this monument, but once upon a time, one could take pictures with a mobile camera... The entrance fee is a nominal ₹ 10 and the place deserves a visit...

What power the sculptures were having then to craft such a beautiful monumental structure. The presiding deity inside this hall is Natarajar. Very finely carved columns on both sides of the hall, fills the heart with joy. This place is striving as museum also. A rich heritage is passed on to us to feel proud. Photography not allowed. So no photos.

Do not visit this place until they finish their renovation. It’s total waste of money and time. On each side of main building which is under renovation, there are two galleries. One is paid and another is either free or included in the price. Staffs at both centre were taking their mid noon nap and was not bothered to greet or say hello. All what’s on display was in a very bad state. There were lots of spelling mistakes on all the writings. Someone accountable, please have a look. This is not what a Gandhi Museum in India should look like even when it’s on renovation. Very very very disappointed and has never seen anything pathetic like this.

Didn't go there. This is always in renovation. Wase r of time. Glad that ticket cost is not so high, just ten rupees per adult and five rupees for kids. Museum renovated for ever ..this is a bad administration for all relevant departments. And it's a huge reputation damage to the City. I urge honorable district collector sir to jump in an look into this on priority.

Main museum is under renovation (it was supposed to have reopened by now), government museum is often closed depending on the day, and the only thing to see is a small exhibit on the Indian independence movement, a replica of Gandhi’s house, and a shrine that (supposedly) contains some of his ashes. Worth 30-45 minutes if you’re already in the area otherwise skip it - you can get the same information about Gandhi online quite easily. Also why is there a giant T-Rex at a Gandhi memorial? Seems a bit distasteful.

I visited this place on 17th July 2025. There was only a small gallery where you could learn about india's journey from when the britishers started colonising to the independence period.. it would take 30- 40 mins to see this gallery. A lot of history that we learned in school and more can be understood from here. In addition to this there is a small museum that was open. There is also a small memorial where Gandhijis ashes are kept. However, the main museum was closed for renovation. Based on my interaction with one staff member, it seems the closed part of the museum would re-open on 2nd October 2025. Pls check with the latest info.. i have seen many reviewers criticizing the staff working there. However, i never faced any issues and the staff were very polite.

The government museum was closed as we visited on a second Saturday. Some sections of the museum were set up on some individual buildings which we could see. Our experience was good.

Visited the museum on 2 October 2025.. The main museum (palace) was closed for renovation. Some pictures, books and written facts about Gandhiji and freedom struggle is displayed in the gallery. There is a small bookshop near the gallery. Saw the Asthi peedam. Gandhi kutir was closed. The small museum to the left was closed. It has many historical artifacts. # Inside the gallery the staffs were watching reels with high volume. # The security in front of the small museum was very rude. As tourists we may not know everything about the museum and buildings. So if we ask something I believe they should answer politely or guide us to someone who is more informed.

A good place depicting Gandhi s life… takes 45 minutes to see… very spacious.. Gandhi s blooded last cloths are placed here for exhibition.. Indian freedom movement is portrayed here… good place overall… Gandhian studies are taught here.. calm environment…

Visited the Devipattinam Navagraha (Navapashanam) Temple, which is located in the sea.. a truly unique and peaceful place. The temple doesn’t have a building…instead, the nine Navagraha stones are set right in the water and are believed to have been installed by Lord Rama himself before he went to Lanka, after performing a pooja here. You usually walk through the shallow water to see them, but during our visit, due to high tide, no one was allowed to go inside as the water level was high. Those who experience it say it feels very special and spiritual. It’s calm, quiet, and gives a unique, relaxed feeling by the seashore. Parking is available (₹40), and you can complete the darshan in about 15–20 minutes. Definitely a must-visit spot near Rameswaram for its unique setting and spiritual energy.

Navagraha temple, situated inside sea. Walkway is provided. In high tide times Vigrahas are not visible. Many 'parihara' poojas are done here. It is 15 km from Ramanathapuram town. Bus transportation is also available. Worth visiting. It is different.

This was the first temple I saw only with the Navagraham. I shocked. At present it has only 5 out of 9 navagraha statues. It was a blissful place with sea breeze. Great view. I liked it.

It is closed to mountain and no traffic and nice road quility. 3) travel in evening try to reach before 4:00 PM so you can enjoy all 3 temple and on the way to mountain lots of monkeys (not so harmful) but drive safely

Before visiting to this temple that I was not aware about the story of how lord Vishnu played the role of brother for durga mata in her marriage...and thus temple is dedicated to brother of Durga maa that is kallazghar akka vishnu ji.. This temple is really mesmerizing...in love with this temple because of location, the carvings, the positivity of the temple that you will feel instant divine connection. Rest most of the temples of south india don't allow phones so only your eyes and heart can experience the beauty of this and every temple of south india.

The famous kal alagar temple located in the hills of alagarmalai is quite a beautiful place to visit in Madurai. There’s a huge parking area outside the temple complex. The gopuram is tall and sculptures are well preserved. The main shrine is located 100 meters approx from the main entrance. Average waiting time is 15 to 20 minutes on weekdays

The temple is truly beautiful, and the prasadham is excellent. If devotees visit, the free line moves faster than the paid one, which is convenient. The Ramanujar shrine is a peaceful spot where you can rest, and the Perumal looks stunning. A visit to Shakarathalvar is a must, but before that, make sure to stop by the Karupu Swami Kovil at the entrance—the aroma of his sandhanam is heavenly. After that, you can see Azhagar and explore the other shrines at a slow and relaxed pace, making the visit truly enjoyable. The temples maintainance was so good and kept clean.

Recently visited the Pazhamudircholai Murugan Temple. Wonderful experience. Mesmerizing idol of Lord Murugan. Surprisingly people weren't understanding when we asked the direction to Pazhamudircholai Murugan Temple. It's popularly known as Solaimalai Murugan Temple. The temple is located about 25 kilometres north of Madurai, atop a hill covered with dense forests. One of the six important abodes of the deity Murugan located in Tamil Nadu, it is close to the Alagar Perumal Temple. Around 3 kms from Alagar Kovil, there's a small ghat road to the top of hill. The road is excellent. Govt free bus service is available but one needs to wait in long queues. Many people come by walking. Roadside parking available on top of the hill. Temple will be open from morning 6am to evening 6 pm. No break in between. Darshan usually takes 1-2 hrs during weekends. There's Rs. 100 quick darshan service available which takes around 30 mins.

Pazhamudhircholai, one of Lord Murugan’s Arupadai Veedu, is where Avvai Patti received wisdom from Murugan himself — about hot and cold fruits! I visited on a Sunday around 5:30 pm, there was quite a crowd, so I took the ₹100 darshan ticket. If you wait for about 30 minutes, the rush settles down and you can have a peaceful darshan. The picture gallery is lovely they even give a Murugan Valli Devasenai photo with a coin, a nice keepsake for pooja, travel, or gifting to others. The temple layout is beautiful: Vinayagar shrine comes first, Murugan with Valli and Devasenai in the center, and the Vel shrine at the end. Set on a hill, the place is cool and serene though the monkeys are plenty and a bit aggressive thanks to frequent feeding. So, guard your food and belongings! A visit here is a true delight, especially to see the ancient Kadugal and soak in the divine calm of the hills.

Small temple from the Aarupadai lot and open at all times. Vehicle parking is available on the road sides. Slightly ghat section and people will be walking all along to climb up/down. You will see much crowd in boarding the bus rather than at the Temple itself. Highly recommended to go on own transport.

Must visit place at Chettinad. Their arrangement of queue for darsan is something we should appreciate. And old cave temple. The large vinayaka inside all are very much attractive. So please take care of that and also a strict dres code is followed. The temple has a lot of rich history and importance. There is no ticket and limited security to control the movement of crowd so there can be chaos. The parking space is ample and it is paid parking. The temple is well connected by state bus and you can get taxi from nearby places like Madurai or Karaikudi

Such a majestic temple. But, you will need to climb the stairs and you will not feel tired. It’s pretty easy and there are a troop of monkeys. So beware of your belongings as they do snatch the completed darshans.

Nice Small Fort. Family friendly area. 50 to 75 steps but manageable . Avoid heat timings or use an umbrella. Left side a siva linga available. Careful while on the ladder. Totally worthy of you having extra time while going through nearby area.

The Fort Structure is large and has a towering granite walls with cannon(artillery gun). Rock cut Temple, Impressive sculptures. Lord shivalinga is also there inside it hard to climb so avoid that. Well maintained fort by TN govt. Ticket: 25 for Adult. Wear Sensible Footwear: The site involves climbing, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Visit in the Morning: Exploring in the morning offers a quieter experience. Limited Facilities: Some reviews mention a lack of amenities, so plan accordingly.

The fort will not be an apt word for this. Seems like a watch tower to me. It has a Siva temple which I saw. But in google it says there is a Vishnu temple and a darbar too in it which I couldn't identify. No guide , no signages . Archeological India should ensure all these exist. The entry by paying in office is 25/person, payment online it's 20/ person. Why this disparities is not clear. Should display and promote local items sale .

Best place to visit at evening... I enjoyed so much... At the top of the fort you can see the whole city.. actually fort wall designed layer by layer to prevent and attack the enemies.. near fort siva and perumal kudaivarai statue temple is located.. you can visit that also... Especially the perumal statue looks amazing and it's very big palli konda perumal... Thank you for mr.manoj murugan he took us there and explained about that temple...

CURIOSITY DRIVES TO THIS AREA AND ALSO FOUND A MARVELLOUS TEMPLE INSIDE THIS ROCK AREA. FORT WAS BUILT IN 1687 . VEERAPANDYA KATTABOMMAN A HEROIC PALAYAKKARA CHIEFTAIN BRAVELY FOUGHT AGAINST BRITISH RULE IN THIS AREA AND BEEN HANGED BY THE WHITES.HIS BROTHER OOMATHURAI ALSO CONTINUED HIS FOOTSTEPS AND KILLED BY BRITISH IN THIS FORT.

When in trichy, you can go to this temple but please make sure you are fit to climb around 300 steps. If you have any knee pain or foot pain, please skip this temple. Visit this temple only by taking an auto as its located in a very chaotic and busy lanes of the market area.

Think about 400 steps but worth it for the view when you get to the top, shoes are not allowed, plenty of things to see along the way and rest if get tired, if unfit go when it is cooler.

Good temple to visit in Trichy. No wheelchair accessible entrance ♿. Photography is not allowed once inside the sreekovil. Great view once you reach the top. Resting bench and water is available at top of the fort.

A very huge and beautiful Shiva temple..the paintings on walls are incredible and one of the best dipicting the stories around the temple significance..one has to see those painting in live...color full paintings..one of the best and must place to visit in trichy, need to climb around 200 steps visit the temple. The view from the top of the hill is amazing and incredible. The entire trichy city can be viewed and the river kaveri can be viewed and the banks of river kaveri.

A padal Petra sthalm. This temple is so famous in the name of Utchi Pillayar temple. When you step up to Utchi Pillayar temple this Thayumanavar (shiva) temple, Mouna madam temple, Meenakshi Sundreshwarer temple, many small temple (sculpture) and also Pallava caves is on this route. Big step around 600 is there. All temple are well maintained. You should have to spend about 3 hours to get your dharsan and photos.

Peaceful and spiritual experience at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. I visited the temple yesterday on the full moon day. It was quite crowded, with special prayers going on, but the atmosphere was very peaceful and filled with devotion. Despite the crowd, everything was well managed, and it felt nice to see so many people gathered in faith. Such a worthy visit. Best temple to visit if you love ancient architecture. Best time to visit will be early in the morning and early in the evening before the temple closes, to avoid crowd. I was not able to get a Darshan because of the long que, even though it was disappointing, the exploration into the architecture made me compensate.

Srirangam is a magnificent temple with a vast, beautifully maintained complex. The divine idol of Anantha Shayana Vishnu in the main sanctum is truly awe-inspiring. Don’t miss the Lakshmi and Garuda shrines. The temple is very clean and well-managed. You can also opt for the ₹500 official ticket for direct darshan.

This temple coumpound is large, well maintained except few areas. Free place to keep shoes. Mobiles allowed. I could see n elephant & there's also cow shed inside . It looks like more easy going temple than others.

This temple in Srirangam is around 2 kms from the more famous Ranganatha temple. It is dedicated to Jambukeshwarar (Shiva) and Akhilandeswari (Parvathi). Legend has it that Parvathi prayed in the Jambu forrest and created a lingam made of water from Kaveri river. This temple is one of the pancha bhoota sthalams, signifying water as its element. As one enters one of the gopurams, one gets the feeling that the temple is relatively small with an open space, pond and gardens. When one goes further inside, the massive enclosure in which the temple stands reveals itself. The precincts are beautiful, some of them with many ornate pillars. The sanctum of the temple is dedicated to Lord Jambukeshwarar and is a small space where not more than 5 people can stand at a time. It is a beautiful structure and a must visit for anyone visiting Srirangam/Trichy along with the Ranganatha temple. We did not see any designated parking around the temple and had to park on one of the lanes in the vicinity.

Divine Evening Visit to Jambukeshwara Temple We visited the Jambukeshwara Temple in the evening, and it was a serene and peaceful experience. This temple represents the Jala Lingam (water element) among the five Panchabootha Lingas, and it was our final stop to complete the sacred journey of all five. The temple’s architecture is beautiful, and the spiritual energy inside is truly calming. The approach roads are quite narrow, but there is sufficient parking space near the temple. Inside, we were delighted to see the temple elephant, which added to the traditional and sacred atmosphere. The priests were polite and helpful, and the overall experience was memorable and spiritually fulfilling — highly recommended for anyone visiting Trichy!

A simple yet beautiful Shiva shrine surrounded by an awe-inspiring enclosure of mandapams and pathways. The entrance, with the Nandi Mandapam and its four gigantic pillars, is among the most magnificent in any South Indian temple. Visit very much recommended. There is a new rule of no photography but you can carry your cames in the temple.

It is famous Siva temple, Out of five major elements Lord Siva represents water element here. Lord Siva is called as Jambukeswarar and his consort name is Akilandeswari. The temple has fine architecture. It is believed that goddess Akilandeswari is worshipping Lord Siva daily at noon. An archagar dressessed as a lady worshipping Jambukeswarar and cow at noon. Cow puja is famous here..

A huge temple complex Jabukeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is worshipped as the water element in this temple. It is around 10kms from the city of Trichy or Tiruchirapalli. On weekdays the temple here usually open at 5.00am and closes at 12.30 pm. And opens again at 4.00pm. One suggestion to all travelers do not refer timings given on Google to schedule your visit. Timings may change unexpectedly.
