Everything you need for a great day out! Lots for the kids and enough stuff to keep parents relaxed. The majority of the activities are outside but there are a few inside. We've visited in the rain and found something to do there.

The Suncheon Bay National Garden is a vast and meticulously maintained garden complex that showcases creatively designed plant and flower displays with unique themes. Although the shops were closed during one visitor's afternoon visit, the garden was bustling with plenty of people entering and exiting. It's important to note that the entire place offers numerous photo opportunities, so it's wise to bring a bottle of water for hydration during your tour.
We visited this large garden in sunny weather in June. It's very big. It was hot. We took a small train to a nature reserve. I really liked it. we were very tired by the end.

Awesome~~ great park. So beautiful and hard to explain the beauty of the park. You can spend all day here and enjoy so many varieties of scenery. Took so many photos that I can't share all of them. Entry fee is so cheap too. There are many cafe along the way so you can rest for short time before you continue your way. Can't imagine when they completely finish planting all the flower. Must visit!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

If you are thinking to visit this garden then, just go there and you will never regret. I visited this place on 05 April 2024. We were just walking through this beautiful landscape, incredibly large garden for more than 4 hours. Entry fee to this garden in 3000 KRW for adults.

So many things to do- rain or shine. Beautiful flowers and garden is very well-maintained. Highly recommend the boat tour, too. It was such a nice way to see the surrounding area of the garden.
N V — Google review
Incredibly wide, well maintained, absolutely gorgeous! The landscaping design is unique and beautiful. Staff members and volunteers were all friendly, which made our experiences much more special. It was drizzly, but we didn’t have any umbrellas. The people who were greeting at the gate led us to a place where we could rent umbrellas for free. They didn’t even ask for any identification; it was run on honor system. Excellent place to visit!
Euna B — Google review
This garden has beautiful scenery as much as its size. The flowers swaying in the wind, the water currents, and even the warm breeze create an exotic atmosphere. Despite its large size, it is well managed. I want to go there again.

Ecological park
Nature & Parks
Parks
Suncheon Bay Nature Reserve is a serene conservation area and bird sanctuary that boasts of fresh water bays, a museum, and a park. The reserve offers ample opportunities for walking while enjoying the scenic views. Visitors can take a shuttle to Sucheon National garden or ride on the electric mini rail, Sky cube, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the rice fields. A ferry ride through the bay is also recommended.
We did a small road trip in South Korea from Busan and we made a stop in Suncheon for this area. It is a gorgeous wetland area and the nature is so beautiful. We did a big walk here and witnessed a wonderful sunset at the end. It was truly magical! It is worth the entrance fee, highly recommended!
Stephen — Google review
It’s amazing how you can preserve nature , seeing crabs and mud skippers priceless .
Anna U — Google review
Vast and expansive nature reserve. Be prepared to spend at least 3 hours enjoying the many trails/walks. Come in the late afternoon to view the beautiful sunset.
Brandon L — Google review
Really lovely walk, can get a bit busy especially on the weekends, but worth a visit for sure. Great sunset is. I think it was 5,000 per person to get in, but I thought it was worth it. Could easily spend half a day or more there. Bikes to rent and boat rides too, but I didn’t do any of them.
Camille E — Google review
wow. what a beautiful and peaceful place!! Not crowded. Go for the sunset! You walk mostly on the raised board path until you come on a pretty steep hill. It says the observatory is closed but you can still hike up almost all the way there to enjoy the amazing views!
Jennifer L — Google review
Beautiful spot that's well worth the entrance fee. It's unfortunately a little further away from most tourist town/city options but if you're in the area, it's certainly worth the visit.
Chun T — Google review
Suncheon Bay Nature Reserve and Reed Field is a wonderful place to visit if you like the peace and quiet of nature. We started early and enjoyed walking around. This place is huge so be prepared to walk a lot. The reed field was beautiful in summer, very green. The birds, ducks, herons, crickets etc were all humming the entire time. The air was nice, crisp and clean. I enjoyed watching the crabs and mudfish interact in their natural habitat. We also hiked all the way up to the observatory. We saw a mountain cat too! The view there amazing! You can see the entire reserve. There's butteflied and caterpillars and even crabs up the mountain. There's also a restaurant serving coffee, desserts and lunch. For the meals, the ingredients were mostly sourced within the reserve so that's really cool. I would love to see this reserve in autumn when the colors change to browns and reds. It's also home to migratory birds so that would be nice.
Belle — Google review
Visiting the wetlands in Suncheon was such a cool experience. We spent a good 4 hours there. You can check out the bird museum, the planetarium and then walk through the wetlands. There's a bit of a hike to reach the multiple observation decks. The views from the top are incredible. Such a peaceful and beautiful outing in nature.

Seonamsa is a Buddhist temple located in Suncheon Jogyea mountain that is definitely worth visiting. It was originally built by a Goguryea monk around 500 AD and has since been restored after being destroyed during war. The temple features a wooden pavilion framed by an arch bridge, making it a popular spot for photographs. At midday, visitors can witness people praying for their wishes to come true.
It’s good to exercising and hiking, not really far from the park area, The surrounding river environment is quiet and suitable for slow walking can have a half day long hike

Seonamsa is one of the famous tourist site of suncheon. As you can see the famous arc of seonamsa in every picture of suncheon. It is around tens of km far from main city of suncheon. You can drive in about 45 minutes or take a bus number 1 or 16. The place has nice green surrounding far from city and river flowing on the side. People usually come for hike as there are multiple routes. But they are not challenging. There are many buddha temples here too. It is worth going.

sun, 7/25 @ 1p - ms. heera kim, one of the few english speaking park guides at seonamsa temple was the BEST!!! she walked w me about 2hrs in on trail, while providing me info about things i saw. she was also kind to take pics of me at famous photo spots. what put her service above and beyond was her knowing i wld miss the last bus at 5:30p, so she went after her working hrs in her personal vehicle to pick me up at the end of my long 9km/6mi hike at the other temple songgwangsa. she then took me 30m to my nxt sightseeing plc, which was the naganeupseong village. her kindness will nvr b forgotten! 😍

An absolute "must see" if you visit. Please be warned that he story of Gwanju's uprising is harrowing, yet hugely significant. The heart of the townspeople during the whole event is something that the community are very proud of. We were very lucky that upon arrival here we were greeted by a free guide who had lived through the uprising and gave us a personal account of his and his friend's and family's experience. He walked us through the park and showed us the graves of the known and unknown victims, the monuments and their significance, and guided us through the exhibition hall.

Soswaewon Garden is a man-made garden from the Chosun dynasty that offers visitors an opportunity to experience an authentic Korean garden with traditional houses and artificial waterfalls in tune with nature. This serene hideaway was once a gathering place for intellectuals who exchanged ideas while enjoying drinks. The entrance fee of 2000 Won allows you to explore the small garden without much walking since everything can be seen by climbing up small steps.

Songgwangsa Temple

The Songgwangsa Temple is a restored and active ancient Buddhist site that features numerous monuments, including a monastery and tomb. It is situated about an hour and 20 minutes away from Suncheon train station and can be accessed by taking the 111 bus, which arrives at intervals of approximately 45 minutes (the posted schedule provides further information). Additionally, travelers can opt to take the number 1 bus to visit another temple located on the opposite side of the area or hike between both locations.
It is the most amazing and beautiful place to come and rest, learn about Buddhist teachings, and find peace. Absolutely amazing monk Yeon Seong who explained the history and symbolism of Songgwamgsa, and his passion and dedication to help us through his teachings and Dharma talks (in Korean) was truly moving. The organizers of Templestay and the room were also fantastic. Highly recommend!

gorgeous temple, alot of others seem to be sort of tourist trappy or cheap but this is the real traditional experience. the buildings are beautiful the landscape is lovely. i went during the rainy season and it made for some lovely photos. just make sure you remain respectful and quiet during your visit. there are alot of beautiful water features and really lovely woods across from the temple grounds as well as some places to pray.
Congee — Google review
One of the most famous buddist temples in Korea. The temple is known for its long history, and many well-known monks have come from this place. However, from a tourist point of view, there are not many things to see considering the time required and traffic inconveniences. Nevertheless, the temple can be an interesting place for people who have never been to asian buddist temples before.
Johnny K — Google review
Visited Oct. 2nd, 2022. I loved the view, walk, forest, temple. You can buy good wodden scent cooking chopstick. I suggest you don't buy drinks from gift shop, not terrible but not good.

Beautiful temple, beautiful scenery. A lovely loop walk! I really enjoyed seeing this temple, it was a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be! I loved the intricate details on each of the buildings. You can also do a Temple Stay here, and I think that's really cool! If you're down here from Pyeongtaek or Osan, I highly recommend seeing this place!
Jenna L — Google review
Was there on a templestay. Experienced the sounding of the 4 treasures in temple prior to the morning and evening prayer sessions. The surroundings are wonderful for hikes and walks and scenery is spectacular. Hikes are not refommended for those with any walking issues, however small, as some places could be challenging to tackle head-on.
Kelvin N — Google review
I enjoyed a hike around the temple but the temple itself was a little dissapointing. There are so many new buildings, cars parked everywhere that the atmosphere is more of a "lived in quarters" than a Joseon era temple. I think for example Buseoksa Temple was better, but that's just my opinion.

The museum, located in the Joseon-era fortress, offers a tour of traditional dwellings and buildings. It is a beautiful place to visit throughout the year as every season has its unique charm. Free entrance is available after 6 pm. The establishment showcases regional living habits and environment through various exhibitions and plays. It also features many shops where visitors can buy souvenirs or other items, but it's important to be courteous since Korean is spoken here.
If you are doing a road trip and in the neighborhood, definitely make your way here! It is kind of in the middle of nowhere so it might be difficult to reach if you don't have a car. This is a gorgeous traditional village and you can spend a few hours walking around here. It was also a film set for some Korean drama movies.
Stephen — Google review
A pleasant stroll through a Joseon-era traditional Korean village. End it with a Korean pancake with honey filling, or for the more adventurous, boiled pupa.
Ming — Google review
We have been here numerous times and this time it was for the Folk Culture Festival. It was full but not overly crowded. There are traditional games, traditional performance and culture experiences. If you have been to Jeonju you might find this one exciting as well because it is more traditional. People still live in the houses so dont go in if the gates are closed. Open houses are usually for experience programs. You can go up the fortress and look at the village from above. Not so recommended if you bring a stroller or with an elderly cos the stone steps can be steep and uneven. Other than the fortress climb, the path is flat and easy. There are restaurants inside and on ordinary days you can eat there but unless you come early during the festival days, you have to wait at least an hour. We had lunch at one of the setup food tents nearby. Price was much cheaper and I would say quite tasty and you can find a seat easily. Spacious parking, affordable ticket price. Free if you are more than 65, under 7, have disability card. We had the fee 50% discount today, probably because of the festival. Overall is a good place to see what traditional life is about, especially for children.

Interesting and insightful learning today of this place. My 1st time in this town and it has such a rich history of the March anti-japanese movement back in March 13, 1919 at Nagan-Eupseong. Definitely worthwhile use of our time here.

Nestled in the heart of Gwangju, the Gwangju Folk Museum has been a vibrant celebration of southwest Korean culture since its establishment in 1987. This captivating museum offers visitors an immersive experience into the traditional lifestyles and customs of the Jeolla region. With exhibits showcasing authentic reconstructions of traditional houses, clothing, tools, and ceremonies, guests can truly feel as if they've traveled back in time to witness Korea's rich folk heritage.
The building needs some update as it does not have a lift to go upstairs. They provide wheelchairs and prams for your convenience. I used a pram provided with my ID card submittion. Please do not forget to take your ID back when you return. They also provide a locker to put your stuff in when inserting 100 won coin which is returnable. I love hospitality from staff. It was good enough to show my daughter about Korean folk tradition.

Traditional market
Sights & Landmarks
1913 Songjeong Station Market, situated across from Gwangju Songjeong Station, has undergone a revival in recent years. The historic market street was given a retro makeover and now features trendy indie stores, eateries offering tempura, ramen, and rice cakes, as well as long-established businesses selling groceries. The market boasts an eclectic mix of cafes, pop-up stores, and specialty food shops alongside traditional vendors.
Such a nice area to have a stroll and have some local food, snacks or drinks! It really had the old-fashioned vibe which I personally loved 🩷😊
Karolina P — Google review
Hate to see the market kind of dead...not sure whether it is due to political turmoil or just out of date??? Nothing to see or street foods.

It was a little difficult to find, but once we did, it was awesome! Go as it's getting dark and the street comes alive with a trendy yet old-school, retro feel. This tea plantation is amazing. The only thing I did not like about it is the missing handrail, when going up the steps. I was only able to go halfway (about 56 steps), as I fear looking down. But, otherwise, my friends were very happy to reach the top - maybe my next trip there will be different - I will try to make my way to the top, with the bird's eye view of the plantation. The onsite shops also sell different kinds of tea, the ice cream is one of the best & the cafe also serve great coffee. Visiting the Boseon Green Tea Plantation was the highlight of my trip to Jeollanan-do, South Korea.

Really cool to see where green tea comes from! I hear 40% of all Korea's green tea comes from here. They have cafes and stores. The green tea ice cream is delicious. You can also buy matcha and other high quality teas. When you come here bring a good pair of shoes to climb the stairs. If you want to see a view of the ocean, there is a rocky path and hiking shoes would be recommended.

Definitely worth the trip!! The pictures don’t do it justice. This is THE largest Tea Garden in the nation and has been opened since 1939. It had to be rebuilt after the war, but there are no traces of the previous devastation. There are many private farms nearby, but this one is open to the public and has been used as a sight for filming. Come treat yourself to something that used to be propagated only in Buddhist temples and royal courts!!! **Nice getaway from the city. Path to the farm consists of two loops. To the left from the entrance is a walking loop through thick bamboo. To the right is the tea farm. Lots of parking nearby. Wear good walking shoes.

Beautiful environment and not only the tea plants. There are flowers and nice trees all around. It is definitely worth to climb up to the observatory (the view is worth, better to start from the left side) and also to make a small side trip to the small bamboo forest.

Visiting this place was an absolute beautiful sight to see. And not to mention the green tea ice cream, so yummy!!!! I would recommend this place and visit it again. Visiting this place was so beautiful, peaceful and overall calming to my soul. I would want to go back to check out the bamboo side since I didn't find out about that side till after I left.

Nice plantation, worth a visit. Ice cream is great. Hot dog was not bad. Make sure you don't miss the bamboo trail too. Take comfortable shoes because there's a bit of a hike to the top view point.

Camping, playing in the sand, walking barefoot, idling around, seeing a variety of people enjoying the warm day in various ways draws me to the sandy beach! My son is lost in sand play after playing in the calm waves, and my wife is staring at the romantic sea off Yulpo! If you come to Boseong Tea Plantation, be sure to visit Yulpo Beach for some healing! There is also a seafood market 5 minutes away by car, so you can eat fresh seafood and raw fish right on the second floor, and takeout is also available. Also, note that there are restaurants and coffee shops at the beach access road for meals. Above all, there is a seawater green tea bath operated by the county, which I really enjoy using with my parents. Baengnyeonsa Temple (백련사) located in Gangjin-gun, South Jeolla Province has long been a key temple in the restoration and revival of Buddhism Located on Mandoksan Mountain, it is  known as the “beautiful temple of tea and camellias.” The path from the temple’s main entrance gate to the temple compound is bordered on both sides by a grove of camellia trees. Camellias begin to flower sparsely in early November, flower all through the winter, and come to full bloom in late March. It is considered to be one of the two most beautiful camellia viewing spots in Korea. Ividoted on a beautiful autumn day, and there were only a few people around. The view of the sea is amazing. There are hiking trails around and a 900-meter walk to Dasan Chodang (Danan Jeong Yak-yong historical site)

We loved it. And spent a lot of time there. There's 3 parts to explore. Kids will be most interested in the animal/ dinosaur exhibits. But there are 2 other entrances: 1) history of money and and art ( which was beautiful), and 2) traditional Korean pottery. The detail and quality is pretty impressive. My son is already asking to go back for another visit. We enjoyed the gardens surrounding the museum too. There's all the facilities you'll need. Right accross the street is the marine museum. With access to a seaside walkway.

This museum has some of the most interesting fossil finds, geological and seashell collections I've ever seen... and most are from the local area! The dinosaur exhibit was spectacular and even showed a video on the history of dinosaurs on the wall of the round room which almost looked 3D. The insects, flowers and fauna section were like walking in an art museum, very beautifully displayed and so much to see. It's just the right size to spend a couple hours with the family while in the gorgeous town of Mokpo. An amazing lady who recognized we didn't speak Korean or read Hangul approached us and walked us to thru the entire museum like a personal tour guide and gave the history on where fossils, gems, meteorites were found in Mokpo and even what plants they like to use for tea, food or medicine and it didn't cost a dime. They even have a 4D Dino theater that plays just about every hour! For a family of 5 it only cost us 12,000 WON to get in and the 4D theater costs 2,000 per person. Take your time here, you won't regret this amazing experience.

Yudalsan is a beautiful mountain peak located in Mokpo, offering sweeping views of the surrounding islands and sunsets. Visitors can enjoy a sculpture park, climb the mountain in just 30 minutes while taking time to appreciate the scenery, and witness the stunning lights of Mokpo Bridge at night. It's an ideal spot for those who love olle trail as they can walk along it and take a cable car to another island.

AMAZING view of the entire city of Mokpo and the nearby islands at the summit. On a clear day, one of the best views in Jeolla. Only catch, it is a brutal hike if you’re out of shape like me. Lots and lots and lots of stairs. If you’re not actively working out or not a hiker, you will be in for a rude awakening. Also, if you park at the bottom, you have to pay for it.
Sean Q — Google review
This is a fabulous mountain because it is still similar to when my appah was young. There used to be a lot of beautiful Buddhist structures but they are gone now. My appah said there used to be a lot of ajummas selling makkeoli alcohol in the past and we found the last remaining one! If you start at 노적봉 Nojuk rock and walk towards The first and second rock 일등바위 and 이등바위, there is a 8 sided pavilion where an ajumma sells makkeoli, snacks and drinks. Please support her! If you also walk off the beaten path toward rock 1 and rock 2 and past that, you will go down off the beaten pathways that are more rugged and more natural the way it used to be. I find it charming. If you take the pathway towards the marine sculpture (modern sculpture which is rubbish), it will lead out to a street. Cross the street and you will find original shanty like homes from ~70 years ago. If you want to look on Google maps look up Doldamjib chicken restaurant. Fascinating. Note: People still live in these homes so you may just look at it from the main road. I was with my appah and was able to go down to the neighbourhoods and walk down old time memories. Please spend your money in the old town and not the new town. The old town needs your money. They want to redevelop the old town but i hope they do not. These old moon dilapidated villages are beautiful and some of the last standing. So much of Korea is developed and modern and any neighbourhood you go to looks like just any other littered with massive apartment buildings. Anyway enjoy!
Jean Y — Google review
You can see the mountains, sea, and downtown of Mokpo at a glance. We can climb the mountain in 30 minutes, so I think we should eat and go up slowly. It is also romantic to see lights coming on from Mokpo Bridge at night.

The addition of new beach chairs has brought something new. It's very peaceful and comfortable.
Saqib S — Google review
If you're looking for a peaceful beach getaway, this is the perfect spot. Located on Sinji Island in Wando, this long, clean beach stretches for 4 kilometers and is famous for its soft, “singing” sand that gently crunches under your feet. The water is shallow and calm, making it great for swimming with kids or just relaxing in the waves. Lined with pine trees and surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place to unwind, have a picnic, or take a walk by the sea. Whether you want a family outing or a quiet escape, this beach has a little something for everyone. I spent a wonderful day here enjoying the sand, the water while feeling healed by the sound of the sea, and the cooling breeze.

Jake J — Google review
I visited Shinji Myeongsasipri Beach on a Sunday, and it was a great experience overall. It took about 2 hours to get there from Gwangju, and I would say it’s one of the best and closest beaches near the city. The beach was very clean and wide, and although there were many visitors, it didn’t feel too crowded. There was enough space to sit, play, and swim comfortably. The weather was hot, and the water felt nice and refreshing. There are basic facilities nearby, including convenience stores and shaded seating areas. I didn’t rent a spot, but I heard those shaded areas cost about 40,000 to 50,000 won for 8 hours. Many people brought their own tents or mats. I’m not sure, but there might be a small fee for using tents too. One small thing to keep in mind is that the seating area is a bit far from the shore, so you might need to walk a little more, especially if you’re carrying bags. Overall, it’s a fun and relaxing beach, great for going with friends or family. I would definitely go again!
Asilbek A — Google review
One of the most beautiful beach in the area! It's clean and has bathrooms. There are convenience stores within walking distance. The beach is big enough for groups of people to play whatever they want. The water is clear and deep enough to actually swim.
Barbara V — Google review
The beach is nice. I've camped here twice, my first time I camped on the campsite, which was over priced in my oponion compared to other beaches in Korea, there was nothing special about the area I camped, there weren't any facilities or special ground for your tent, literally just a shaded area. The toilet attendant was very aggressive, telling us we had to shower before we could use the toilet. The 2nd time I camped here, we didn't use the campsite and camped in an area we had previously checked was ok to camp in, but got harassed by some man trying to make us pay, we were definitely not in a paying area and he didn't seem to harrass amyone else, who were camping in the same place. Overall I probably wouldn't camp here again as my first choice.

Mihwangsa is a serene Buddhist temple situated in the midst of natural surroundings, offering breathtaking views of both mountains and sea. The tranquil atmosphere exudes an eternal stillness that provides a calming and relaxing experience. The hiking trails around the temple are fantastic with newly planted trees that will eventually turn into an incredibly diverse forest in 5-10 years. However, visitors should be cautious of ticks as they are prevalent in this natural area.
Buddhist monastery which history is more than 1000 years. The landscape is filled with zen and tranquility. Has a number of historic temples, and monk houses, some of which are unique relics. Some buildings are going through renovation under a careful supervision of local architects, to save their original structure and interior. The souvenir and organic hand made products store is available. Is a starting point of numerous hiking tracks, which lead to the top and around the hill chain, to other sacred cites and hermitage places.

Located on the western slopes of Mt. Dalmasan, Mihwangsa was founded in 749 during the Silla Dynasty and holds the distinction of being the southernmost temple on mainland Korea . When I visited some restoration works were in place and I couldn't see all the pavilions. However, due to its rich history, spiritual ambiance, and breathtaking natural setting, this place is a must‑visit for anyone seeking peace, cultural insight, and a true connection to Korea’s sacred landscapes.

Transportation is very inconvenient, requiring an intercity bus from Mokpo or a private car. I don't recommend visiting unless you're traveling by car. Since the island has little to offer other than the ocean view, I recommend a staycation at a hotel with a nice ocean view. I don't recommend visiting as an activity. 2. When is the best time to visit? Of course, summer. If you want to enjoy the beautiful ocean, go in summer. You can't swim in the ocean in spring or fall, but spring and fall are fine for the ocean view alone. Winter is not recommended. 3. What to do? It's very simple. There's only one famous hotel on the island, Sol Beach Jindo Resort. Stay here and visit Jindo Tower, the cable car, and the Usooyeong Tourist Site. The Mysterious Sea Road is only open in April, so if you time your visit accordingly, you can experience it. You can also visit the Jindo Dog Theme Park and Unrimsanbang. 4. Prices are high. Because it's an island, prices are high for tourist attractions. Lunch is 15,000 to 20,000 won per person, based on 2025 figures. Jindo Travel Guide 1. Udo, a charming island located just a 15-minute ferry ride off the northeast coast of Jeju, is famous for its coral beach, cozy cafes, and convenient bicycle and scooter rentals. While many visitors come for a day-trip to explore the stunning coastlines, staying overnight allows for a more in-depth exploration of the island's hidden gems.
This is probably my favorite place in Jeju, if not the entire South Korea. This small island is packed with adventures suitable for all ages, ranging from cycling and sightseeing to speed boating and cafe hopping. The only downside is that the ferry to Udo is suspended when there are strong winds; as a result, I only visited this beautiful island on my third try. Many tourists explore the island by motorcycle, which you need an international license for. If you do not have a license, single/double bikes are also available.

Udo Island, also known as Cow Island, is a nice place to visit in Jeju. It is clean, peaceful and beautiful. Visitors without a rented car, can take the public bus from Jeju City (north) or Seogwipo City (south) to Seongsan Ferry Terminal. From there, take a short 15 minute ferry ride to Cheonjin Port in Udo Island. Remember to bring your international passport along. In Udo Island, we can rent a battery-powered bicycle, scooter or mini car to explore the small island. To rent a scooter or a mini car, we need to have an International Driving Permit (IDP). It takes about 2-3 hours to go one round the island. Do not forget to try the peanut ice-cream and other peanut products as Udo Island is famous for its peanuts.
CS C — Google review
I don't know why Koreans find this place so beautiful and wonderful. Nothing here but peanut ice cream. No lush vegetation. Lava rock beaches- unwelcoming. A tourist trap. Dont waste your time, if you've ever been to a nice island. Windy and cold in November. Rent a bike if you come. Can cover it in 1 to 1.5 hours

It was probably a little overrated for the island. But to get here, it’s pretty straightforward. You can only get here by the ferry (no cars allowed unless you’re traveling with seniors and young kids). There’s a parking lot right next to the port, so if you’re driving it’s quite unlikely that they’ll run out of parking space. Once we’re here we bought the shuttle bus ticket to go around the island. You need to plan properly where you want to get off the shuttle as you can only go around the loop once, if you missed it you can either walk, cycle or get another ticket. (8,000 won per person). If you want to get the scooters you’ll need an international drivers license. The only thing I find it fun here was the speedboat to see caves. Other than that I think it’s a little overrated. The peanut icecream didn’t surprise us, there are a lot of tourists that would hog certain photo spots for a long time and blocking walkways. I thought I would spend a full day here but I left after two hours because there’s nothing much to see. The popcorn beach was rather disappointing as well and the water right next to the speedboat was quite polluted. You can see a layer of petroleum floating and you probably wouldn’t want to dip your feet in.

If Hallasan is the most recommended place to visit in Jeju, the second would definitely be Udo. Udo is a beautiful island with stunning landscapes, making it a must-visit destination. There are two harbors on the island, so it’s important to check the time and plan your trip accordingly. When buying tickets for the ferry, remember to purchase round-trip tickets. Also, you’ll need to fill out two boarding passes for your journey. The ferry ride to Udo takes about 15 minutes, providing a smooth and scenic experience. Once you arrive on the island, you'll be greeted by breathtaking views and plenty of things to explore. For an easier and more comfortable trip, I highly recommend using the bus transfer tour around the island. It’s a convenient way to visit the key spots without worrying about transportation. Renting a bicycle or a motorcycle might sound fun, but it can be quite dangerous due to the narrow roads and high traffic, so I wouldn't recommend it. The bus tour costs around 8,000 KRW and allows you to hop on and off at various travel spots, giving you the flexibility to explore at your own pace. Make sure to manage your time well to fully enjoy your visit to Udo and its surroundings. It’s a short trip, but definitely worth the effort for a peaceful and picturesque experience. There are so many toliet for free.

Absolutely beautiful place that you must travel to. It is located on the eastern side of Jeju island. You'll have to take a ferry across to get there. It is possible to bring your car to Udo island , however, the roads in Udo are very narrow, and it is advisable to park your car there and rent smaller E-cars/bikes there for ease of access. Do note that if you're using the bikes(with handles), you'll need to wear a helmet. For the smaller e cars(with steering wheel), it was not a requirement when I was there in Oct 2023. At Udo Donghaseon Quay, look for the dome shape area where you can buy tickets. 1. Fill up two of the boarding report form, one is for dept from seongsan, one is for dept from udo. 2. Go to the counter and pay, and they'll ask if you're bringing your car. With car about 72,000krw. 3. The entry to the boat is on the left side when you're looking at the dome entrance from the car park. Look for men in the blue vest and show them your payment ticket and boarding report. 4. They'll tell you what lane to go and which ship, reverse your way in.

There is the most beautiful island of South Korea. You can have various delicious seafood, also go around the island by electric vehicle. I have traveled so many countries like USA, EU, UK etc. And there are lots of beautiful places but I think Udo island also is one of them.

Im sure most people will have a better expirience than me but my expierience was just okay. I recommend you go and buy a ticket at 1.30-2.00ish as afterwords there isnt much time to see all the things. The shuttle bus costs 8000 krw and the last bus to catch is at 3.40ish and to rent electric car only very little stalls accept international driving lisence and you need the paper version which we didnt have. And it was really really sunny not hot though so we just sat down in the shade and just relaxed. The ferry tucket costs 9000-10000 ish krw each person. Also if you are planning to go i recommend you go on an empty stomach as you should try all their peanut items and also buy or bring some snacks for your ferry as you can feed the seagulls (was the best part when we went udo island)

Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as "castle hill," is a unique volcanic tuff cone located in the east of Jeju Island. Formed by hydrovolcanic eruptions 5 thousand years ago, this crater-style peak resembles an ancient castle and offers stunning views from its summit. Designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, it has become famous for providing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets to countless travelers.
This was an amazing hike for my daughter and I. Not for the weak. Lots of steps. I mean LOTS. It takes about 25 minutes or more to reach the top. Great views. And maybe 20 minutes to hike down. Suggestions are carrying a hand fan and having a change of clothing with you to change into. You will sweat. And the humidity can be really thick and heavy.
Gary — Google review
The walk up to the summit can be tiring, but it is easy to manage with plenty of rest points along the way. Complete the walk by sunset to get amazing views at golden hour.
Shawn L — Google review
Terrific views of the coastline as well as Hallasan. Majestic scenery as the light hits at certain angles. A manageable hike up to the summit is well worth seeing the crater and the open sea.
Edward T — Google review
There’s an entry ticket 🎫 to climb the summit. It’s bit tiring but there are multiple rest points, washrooms on the way. The weather was extremely hot so it became bit difficult 😞 to climb but once you reach the top, tge view is totally 💯 worth it! This peak is actually called the centre of Jeju which divides it in 2 parts. Definitely recommended but do carry sunglasses 🕶️ and pther heat protectant 👍🏻

We checked in the Coop City Hotel the night before and climbed the Seongsan Ilchulbong the following morning after having a leisurely breakfast buffet. We are not early risers and did not try to catch the sunrise which was probably blocked by the October early morning clouds. The ticket to go up was KRW5000 pp. You have the option to go down towards the beach for free. It is a long climb with lots of stairs, but it is worth it. Every once in a while, we would take a break to admire and take photos of the view. The view only gets better as you go higher. And we had perfect late morning weather, sunny with a cool breeze. It was very rewarding to reach the summit and admire the views of the town, ocean and crater. The summit has lots of wood steps for sitting and relaxing. October is not too crowded. You go down using a different set of stairs. The view is as good going down as it was going up. I usually find going down tougher on my knees, but this descent was pretty easy and fast. I think the pitch of the steps matched my stride length. Once we got to the bottom, we headed down to the beach to admire the waves and view of the Ilchulbong from sea level. The water was too rough for divers, but there were ladies selling raw shellfish which we passed on. I would definitely recommend Seongsan Ilchulbong if you are physically capable of handling the climb. It was one of the highlights of our 4-night Jeju trip. Note: there is a defibrillator and a toilet partway up the climb. Also, if you are pregnant, you will have priority car parking spaces marked in pink paint, closest to the ticket office. LOL.

A great place, UNESCO world heritage that we can get a relaxing ocean view, volcanic island experience. If you arrived before 2.00 p.m. you can watch the traditional dive women ( Haenyo) performance.
Kalana C — Google review
Seongsan Ilchulbong, or Sunrise Peak, is one of Jeju’s most iconic natural landmarks, famous for its dramatic volcanic tuff cone and the stunning panoramic views from the summit. The climb is relatively short but can be steep in sections, with well-maintained stone steps and handrails making it manageable for most visitors, though it can get crowded, especially at sunrise or peak tourist season. From the top, you can see the crater, rolling green slopes, the surrounding coastline, and the sparkling blue ocean, offering excellent photo opportunities and a sense of Jeju’s unique volcanic landscape. The base area has parking, restrooms, small cafes, and souvenir shops, and there are coastal walking paths and viewpoints around the area, making it easy to explore without needing to climb if you prefer. The sunrise experience is particularly spectacular, giving the peak its name, but even daytime visits provide breathtaking scenery. That said, beyond the climb and the views, there isn’t a lot else to do, and the site can feel very touristy at times, with lots of people taking photos and walking around. Overall, Seongsan Ilchulbong is a must-see for first-time visitors to Jeju, offering a short but highly rewarding hike, iconic landscapes, and an unforgettable perspective of the island’s natural beauty, though it’s best to visit early or off-peak to fully enjoy it.
Keane W — Google review
Tickets cost 5,000 ₩ per adult to reach the summit, which is about 400 steps up. The climb is worth it—the view is stunning, and you can even spot Hallasan in the distance! I wouldn’t have guessed Seongsan Ilchulbong is a volcanic crater if I hadn’t read about it, since its slopes are now covered in lush green vegetation, giving it a grassy appearance. On the way down, the Haenyeo divers weren’t working due to rough waters, but I still managed to run into one!

Aqua Planet Jeju stands out as one of Asia's largest aquariums, making it an ideal destination for families and couples seeking a memorable day. With around 48,000 animals and plants representing approximately 500 species, visitors can immerse themselves in the wonders of marine life. The aquarium features a captivating marine science experience hall where you can learn about various aquatic creatures.
My friend and I came here after finding it on Google Maps during planning and it was a wonderful surprise! This aquarium had lots of sea life to see, shows, and an art exhibit to explore. Although the price is higher than what you would typically pay for at an attraction, we would say it was worth it. We spent around four hours at Aqua Planet Jeju and were very pleased with our experience. Our highlights were the giant ocean tank and the penguins! PS: we headed here fairly early and it was nice to see that the traffic wasn't too heavy, especially for photo opportunities!
Bailee M — Google review
Went there on a rainy day as it was one of the few indoor activities you can do in Jeju. Not the best aquarium in Asia, it is quite small and most animals on exhibit are quite common. However, I did enjoy the atmosphere and the vibe of it. It is a good place to visit if the island is raining, but don't expect to see a big aquarium with many exotic animals. The highlight of this place is probably the show. I appreciate that they didn't use animals in the show anymore (apart from one sea lion at the very end). The main show were played by what looked like were former athletes and it was amazing. There was also a heart-warming story to it. There are like 4 shows a day, so you won't miss it. There was still parking even though it looked like the most busy day ever.
Natthakul — Google review
Wonderful few hours can be spent here mesmerised by the fishes, especially the large shark tank towards the end, and the sensory area with all the goldfish. The show was really engaging for all ages. Plenty of distractions along the way with play features, snacks. Definitely recommend to visit. Suggest more information (in English) about fish species. We used our Google lens a lot to find out about different ones.or for translating.

Aqua Planet Jeju, located on the picturesque Jeju Island, is touted as one of Asia's largest aquariums, offering an extensive and immersive marine experience. It's significantly larger than its counterparts in Seoul, boasting a vast exhibition space with over 48,000 marine creatures from 500 different species. Highlights include the impressive main tank, housing thousands of fish, sharks, and rays, and a captivating underwater tunnel that provides a 360-degree view of marine life. Visitors also rave about the Ocean Arena shows, featuring dynamic synchronized swimming and acrobatic performances, often including sea lions and dolphins. The Haenyeo diving performance, paying tribute to Jeju's iconic female divers, is another cultural highlight. Aqua Planet Jeju is consistently praised for its clean and well-maintained displays, offering both entertainment and educational value for all ages, making it ideal for families. While it's primarily an indoor attraction, providing a great option for rainy days, its location near Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji allows for beautiful outdoor photo opportunities as well. Tickets for foreigners typically start around SGD 40-50, with combo options available that include the Ocean Arena show and special exhibitions. Many recommend purchasing tickets in advance and noting that certain offers are exclusive to non-Koreans. It's considered a worthwhile visit for marine enthusiasts and anyone seeking a captivating and educational experience on Jeju Island.

Manjanggul Lava Tube is a must-visit attraction on Jeju Island, offering a unique underground adventure. This long lava tube features impressive formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, along with bats and insects. The well-lit tunnels allow for easy exploration on foot without special equipment, providing an opportunity to learn about the island's volcanic history firsthand.
Can absolutely feel the wonder of nature and immerse yourself in it. Well preserved and easy to reach, the cave is a great place to visit! Though only 1km is opened for public, you can find many different forms of igneous rock here and the whole atmosphere is so good here! (We spent around 1 hour to finish the whole journey and back to the entrance) Apart from the cave, there is an indoor information center to learn the history of this place. Next to the center is a local restaurant offering fried cheese pork cutlet and udon. Recommend to give it a try also : ) Ticket price: 4,000 won per adult Plenty of outdoor parking space is available.

The food in the restaurant at the entrance is amazing! The host was very kind. So, we had a great start to our visit. The lava tube is stunning! Not much more to say, but that it is a must see. Walking will be challenging for those who struggle to walk on uneven surfaces - the floor is rough lava flow rock. Would go here to reflect, cool off, or just marvel at the wonder of it. Highly recommend.
Nathan B — Google review
Fun cave to explore. As others mentioned bring a hoodie or light jacket as it’s a little chilly down there. I would also wear sturdy shoes, the floor is very uneven and “natural” and damp, so good shoes will be a lot more comfortable. Lots of signs in English which was great. Cave is a little “short” so don’t expect it to be a full day event, but it’s great to get away from the heat in summer!
Sven N — Google review
This lava tube system is worth visiting. It is indeed a natural wonder. The temperature drops to around 18C the moment you step into the cave. When the outside temperature was 28C, when I visited. Advisable to bring a hat or raincoat unless you don't mind the water dripping from the roof of the cave onto you. It is dimly lit, so if you have a torchlight, might help you watch your steps better. The formation of the cave and the shelves are explained along the way. At the end of the tube, you get to see the tallest column. Check my photos out. Photo tip: if you have night mode on your mobile, turn that on, it will make a great difference in your photos.

Amazing experience! It's a long walk through the tube but it's definitely a wonderful experience. The floors could use a bit more lighting though, as it's difficult to see where you're walking at times.

As a UNESCO site this place is a must visit if you're in Jeju. The cave is not a long walk its about 1km deep however if you are not comfortable in semi dark spaces or slip easily on uneven damn surfaces the place might not be for you. Bring a hat and rain jacket as the ca e is damn and cool once you're inside. Umbrellas not recommended as some paths are narrower and you'll impede other visitors.

Interesting Lava Tube. It can be quite cold so wear a light jacket helps. Not a tough journey through the cave, my 6yo walk with a breeze. A bit wet and slippery so a good pair of hiking shoe helps. Enjoy!

Bijarim Forest, located in Jeju, is a serene natural monument featuring thousands of nutmeg trees aged between 500 and 800 years old. It is the world's largest forest consisting of a single plant species, the bija (nutmeg yew) trees. The dense forest offers a peaceful retreat and houses several ancient trees, including an impressive 800-year-old specimen and conjoined nutmeg yews.
The trail is not long but we had a good relaxing walk here and enjoyed the fresh air.

A great place to visit and walk if you are a nature lover. Atmosphere is very peaceful. The entire course is around 2-3 km and the terrain is flat so it is good to spend 1-2 hrs here and soak in the greenery. Cost was 3000 won per adult.

Roughly translated as Nutmeg Tree Forest, Bijarim let us have a refreshing walk, surrounded by trees of 500-800 years. I enjoyed the serenity, unique kinds of bird chirping, and the smell of Bijarim only nature can provide. We also saw a tree that was planted in 12th century, and it was unbelievable to see how the tree can endure such a time. It is also an easy walk, as there is no uphill and no scorching sun directly at your face. Lastly, I appreciated the plant/tree information descriptions in Korean but wish there were one in English for other visitors.

It's very cheap admission (I think around 2,000 won for adults) and takes about an hour to an hour and a half to walk through. The total course is 3.2km if you walk the whole route. It's a very easy walk, but some parts are loose rocks, so wear appropriate foot wear.

Such a nice forest with many old majestic trees....love it! We saw a number of snakes....so be careful. The air is v fresh and its just beautiful taking a stroll slowly. Enjoy!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful walk and scenery. The trails can get a little slippery when wet with snow, but the environment was magical.

Hamdeok Beach, located on the northern side of Jeju Island, is a popular tourist attraction known for its stunning scenery and clean, shallow waters. The beach features a picturesque arched bridge, a striking red lighthouse, and black volcanic rocks contrasting with soft white sand. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as camping or kayaking while taking in the serene surroundings.
The hamduck beach in Jeju-island is so beautiful place on earth. You can see so many fish and enjoy water sports as like snorkeling, surfing, sailing and foods.

Loved this beach except there isn’t any shade so you have to bring your own. Most people with tents were respectful and set up at the back. There’s a trail on the east side to walk along.

I visited with my wife on a weekday. It wasn’t exactly empty, but it wasn’t overly crowded either. On the beach, there were separate areas: one for parasols available for rent and another where visitors could set up their own parasols. Since there were plenty of activities and food options nearby, we were able to enjoy everything without needing to go elsewhere. As for parking, we used the free parking lot, but on busier days it might be difficult to find a spot there. So, it would be better to plan ahead for parking before visiting.

Hamdeok Beach in Jeju is a popular and picturesque beach, known for its clear, shallow waters, soft sand, and scenic views of the coastline and distant mountains. The beach is family-friendly, with gentle waves that make it ideal for swimming, wading, or just relaxing, and the wide sandy area provides plenty of space for sunbathing or casual beach games. There are walking paths along the coast, small cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores nearby, making it easy to spend a few hours without needing to leave the area. Facilities like parking, restrooms, and showers are available, though it can get crowded during peak tourist season, especially on weekends and holidays. The combination of turquoise water, soft sand, and surrounding scenery makes it very photogenic, though it is relatively ordinary compared to more unique or dramatic beaches in Jeju, with no striking rock formations or cliffs. Overall, Hamdeok Beach is a pleasant, relaxing spot for families, couples, and casual visitors who want a safe and scenic place to enjoy the sea, though it’s more of a classic, easygoing beach experience rather than a must-see natural spectacle.

Beautiful beach. White sands. I imagine it would be nicer in the warmer months when you can enjoy the water. Otherwise, there's not much to do here. Photo ops are plentiful, though.

We went in October. It was a windy day and there was a couple taking engagement or wedding photos. Beautiful even on a cold and windy day. People were selling tangerines in the car park for extortionate prices. If you want to try tangerines go to a local vendor for half the price! You can see the lava rocks and the sea is crystal blue. So beautiful.
