I've always enjoyed coming to this plaza, experience have usually been good. The last few times have been different I travel with my assistant dog proper paperwork etc the last few times I've been stopped and required to show my paid for work which is not the law here, this time they refuse me I showed the paperwork in a pleasant manner I was told that there is a new law, which there isn't so we were forced to leave the mall and go somewhere else embarrassing for this mall and it's training of its staff and security guards...

It's quite good 👍 I go quite a lot and they normally have what your looking for in most of the places they have good staff and all maybe that could put something already in those 3 empty locals thanks to owner for this grand place

Located in a picturesque setting, Las Rozas Village is a charming shopping complex featuring over 100 boutiques offering Spanish and international luxury fashion and lifestyle brands. The village exudes a quaint vibe, making it an excellent destination for leisurely shopping and dining at its cafes. Nice outlet outside the city of Madrid. About 15 mins drive. Most of the Brands are there, don’t miss the view while you are taking a coffee at Starbucks.
Saeed D — Google review
As good as it could be. A shopper paradise ✨️ where you can find the things you want from many different big brands. It has also a few spots for coffee on the go and good dining restaurants on the site. I recommend you become a member of the village so you can get discounts and offers specially made for you.
Faisal A — Google review
Loved my visit to Las Rozas Village in Madrid! Great shopping deals on top brands, beautiful views from Starbucks, and a magical evening vibe. Not many cafés, but the ones there are worth trying. Will definitely come back! Highly recommended if you’re in Madrid and want a premium outlet experience with a charming vibe!
Swati P — Google review
Las Rozas Village has redefined what outlet shopping can be. The unique concept of offering luxury services in a refined and personalized way is something I have not encountered in the United States. It fills a clear need for travelers and shoppers who appreciate high-end retail but also value an elevated, seamless experience. I was particularly impressed by the outstanding hospitality of Miguel at the Apartment. From the moment I arrived, he ensured that every detail was thoughtfully curated, setting the tone for an exceptional visit. His professionalism and warm approach made the experience feel truly exclusive. His colleagues, Imad and Buchy, further elevated the service by anticipating needs, offering refined attention, and ensuring that the time spent at the Village was as effortless as possible. Together, they created an environment where shopping felt more like a luxury retreat than a traditional retail experience. What distinguishes Las Rozas Village is not only the curated selection of brands but also this concierge-style approach to customer service. For international travelers like myself, it makes the journey both efficient and memorable, turning a shopping trip into a highlight of time in Madrid. As a frequent traveler, I can confidently recommend this concept to my colleagues and friends who often shop abroad. It is an innovative model that combines retail with genuine hospitality, and I will absolutely return on my next trip to Madrid. Las Rozas Village sets a new standard that others should aspire to. Particularly would like to highlight the amazing experience at Loewe working with Lucas Zhang and his colleague Patricio Cabrera, both of whom exuded the highest level of professionalism and craftsmanship with regard to the Loewe brand. Making the entire experience super memorable!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Villa Mari is not just a place to stay – it’s an unforgettable experience. From the moment you step inside, you realize this is not just a villa – it’s a living museum, crafted with soul, filled with art, beauty, and character in every corner. It’s a rare gem that feels more like a private gallery than a vacation rental. The design, furniture, decoration, and layout are all meticulously curated, blending elegance with warmth. Every object tells a story. The bedrooms are spacious with extremely comfortable beds, the living spaces are charming and cozy, and the entire place is spotless. The garden is pure magic – a peaceful paradise with flowers, fruit trees, and breathtaking views that stay in your memory long after you leave. It’s the kind of place that invites you to relax, reflect, and reconnect with nature. What touched me deeply was the incredible generosity of both the host, who welcomed us with a beautifully prepared table full of drinks and sweets, and the neighbor across the street, a noble gentleman who offered us fruit from his trees with a kind smile and open heart. As the owner of a travel agency, I’ve seen hundreds of hotels, villas, and apartments across Europe – none have left such a powerful impression as Villa Mari. It is simply exceptional, clean, peaceful, and soulfully beautiful. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who seeks more than just a place to sleep – but a place to feel alive. I will absolutely return again and again.

Nature & Parks
Theme park
Europe Park is a popular family-friendly destination featuring replicas of 18 European monuments and ample green spaces. Visitors can enjoy detailed reproductions of historic landmarks, playgrounds, and a spectacular lights and music show on summer weekends. The park offers picturesque spots for picnics, active games, boat rides, and rental bicycles. However, some visitors have noted the presence of insects around sunset.
it's a pretty, very green place. Replies of monuments and famous items from all over the EU are beautiful too. good choice for a walk or a picnic. there's a lot of spots for active games, a zip line, boats, rental bicycles. lots of ducks and swans. beautiful
Jose P — Google review
Lovely large park with playgrounds for 6-12 years and another for little ones. My 4 year old liked them both. We went in the afternoon but nothing was open. The little theme park was also closed but looked like fun. My kids aren’t use to walking so much and it was a lovely sunny day but they grew up in Ireland and found the 17C too hot and sunny. 😆 I loved it. The replicas are well done as we have been to many of the real ones. I recommend brining food to have a picnic. They have benches or you can sit on the grass. It’s free and the bathrooms are ok which is a big plus.
Jenny T — Google review
On my recent travels to Madrid (July 2025), I met up with a friend from work who lives out here. I didn't know of this place and he surprised me. It was round the corner from where he lives so we didn't have to travel far, say 10-15 min walk. The best way to describe this park is a mini tour round Europe of to recognisable landmarks made to scale, some more limited (Eiffel Tower, Tower Bridge) etc but its a cool experience. The park is huge so make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes/trainers. The terrain is mostly flat with some small inclines here and there depending on how far you venture. Highlights include - Tower Bridge - London, Eiffel Tower - Paris, Trevi Fountain - Italy, and more... I had a wonderful time. Best of all and what surprised me most is this attraction/park is completely free. No entry fee. That's almost unheard of anywhere else. Some replicas are better than others but it is a nice stroll and makes for a nice outing.
Joanna F — Google review
Super nice park with replicas of top European sights with lots of playgrounds and restaurants. Unfortunately all things to do (like: rowing boats, laser tag etc) were not open in the afternoon. Therefore I would recommend coming here with the kids in the evening to ensure an even better experience. Nevertheless: the park is great and even relatively well maintained.
David R — Google review
Nice, clean well cared park. Beautiful green space and lake. Some copies of the famous European art monuments.
Lyubomyr M — Google review
Such a lovely place to go. You can park nearby and it's not expensive. The park is lovely to wander around, or do different activities depending on what you feel like or how much you want to spend! There are lots of things for kids to do, although it's slightly better maybe for older kids in that respect. There are places to buy water, ice creams etc. The toilet blocks were fine, and clean. It's incredible to be able to show the kids representations of different countries all in one place.
Holly W — Google review
It is absolutely irrelevant how old you are! Are you grandparents, parents, children. Bring your pets... Everyone will enjoy walking and playing in this park. Sights of the whole of Europe in one place. Access by car to the park itself, parking provided, 6h = 3Eur. Entrance is free, and the prices of refreshing drinks, popular snacks, and ice cream are acceptable. The toilets are clean and installed in several places. Don't miss it!
Miša G — Google review
It is a very nice place, but I don't recommend coming before noon because all the stores and restaurants are closed until 11am. We arrived at 10am and had to wait on the benches for all the fountains to start and stores to open. I highly suggest, in the summer, to come in the evening, even though it might be a little more crowded, because you can really enjoy all the attractions (boat rides for adults or just for children, zip line over the lake, fountains, train rides, eating at restaurants and so on).

Plaza Norte 2 is a stylish shopping mall located just outside of Madrid in San Sebastian de los Reyes. Opened in 2005, it has become one of the city's top shopping destinations. The mall offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. It also features kids' programs, making it an ideal destination for families.
Great shopping mall. A lot of space. Well organized. Clean restrooms. Free underground parking for the first 3 hours.

Faisa L — Google review
Our visit to Plaza Norte 2 was a great experience — a stunning shopping mall known for its elegant architecture, with a beautiful glass dome and stylish interior design. It offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, making it a perfect place to spend a relaxing day shopping and enjoying modern Madrid’s atmosphere.
Stelios S — Google review
A rather depressing place, with weird neon-fucsia lights, mish-mash of seating spaces and very slow service. Not the workers' fault, as there were only two on the shift. They are probably doing their best. With the huge amount of workforce available in Madrid, why not hire a few more to be able to lower the waiting time for customers? The metal chairs, with a narrow sitting surface, are an absolute punishment for your back Some of the clients have left their trays on the tables instead of emptying them in the designated area which, by the way, is not very visible. Perhaps they didn't even notice it. Why not place a large, fun sign to help customers contribute to the cleaness of the place? The tacos were average and we had to wait for them for about 15 min. And the restaurant was almost empty. Brighten up the place, hire extra workers and install some soft, elegant lights. The space has potential.
ImagesAround — Google review
Beautiful shopping mall in the north of Madrid with an impressive design — the big dome and marble interior make it feel quite unique. I’ve visited several times and it always has a great mix of shops, from fashion to electronics and home goods. There’s also a fine selection of restaurants for when you want to take a break while shopping. It’s spacious, easy to park, and generally well maintained. It can get crowded on weekends, but overall it’s one of the best and most comfortable malls in the

This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site university town. Not the grandest of world heritage sites but very historic. It was founded by Cardinal Jiménez de Cisneros in the early 16th century. Alcalá de Henares was the world's first planned university city. Not to be confused with being the oldest as this goes to Bologna in Italy. It has some pleasant historic buildings, a neat plaza and is well worth a visit as it’s a nice town. Just don’t expect an Oxford or Sorbonne.

Micropolix

Water & Amusement Parks
Welcome to Micropolix, a vibrant leisure hub crafted as a miniature city where children aged 4 to 14 can immerse themselves in the world of adulthood. This unique destination spans an impressive 12,000 square meters and features 30 themed spaces designed for educational play. Here, young visitors can explore various professions—from journalists and scientists to firefighters and pilots—earning their own currency, Eurix, along the way.
An amazing way for kids to spend the day playing pretend. Plan ahead though, they want to do every job there is and earn some Eurix while having fun being grown ups. Food is OK and prices are affordable. If you decide to go only afternoon tickets are discounted.

A Fun and Educational Experience for Kids at Metropolix! Metropolix is an incredible children's park where little ones can explore various professions and have a blast while learning valuable life skills. The staff at Metropolix were exceptionally helpful, nice, kind, and professional, ensuring that every child had a memorable experience. However, it would be great if the park could also cater to parents' needs. Although they have to purchase tickets, there isn't much for them to do. The seating area should be clean, comfortable, well-lit, and free from noise to create a pleasant atmosphere for adults. Parents deserve to feel as good as their kids do. Overall, Metropolix provides an exceptional opportunity for children to have fun, learn, and develop essential skills. With a few improvements, it could also become a perfect family outing destination.
Lia — Google review
Very disappointing experience. The place was extremely overcrowded, yet they continue to sell tickets. We spent nearly an hour just waiting in line to enter the first activity. The ticketing system is poorly communicated. Tickets are sold based on age groups, but this isn’t explained clearly. Once inside, you may find that your child isn’t allowed into certain areas because their bracelet (linked to the ticket type) doesn’t grant access. Staff often suggest you go back and buy a more expensive ticket for the next age group, only then do they let you in, but that’s usually after waiting in a long line and you need wait in line again. They don’t seem to consider the actual age or height of the child- taking into account just the ticket price. Strangely, they also allow small children into attractions meant for older kids (7+), as long as the more expensive ticket has been purchased, which raises serious safety concerns. To make matters worse, the staff were rude and showed no compassion toward our 3- and 6-year-olds who were visibly upset and crying. There was no patience or understanding, just cold responses and more rules.
Tatiana C — Google review
Very poor experience! Not recommended at all! They let in 5 times the amount of kids that this place can manage. Kids wait over 30 minutes for an activity.. kids cry everywhere as a result.. don't get near! Adding another important point, there is almost nothing for 0-3 year olds to do there, the only way is if you purchase the 4-6 ticket. They do not tell you that at the beginning, only when you actually stand in line for over 30 minutes and then they tell you your kid he cannot enter... imagine the kid's reaction... poor experience..

The concept is educational and fun, but waiting 20-30 minutes in lines for every activity defeats the purpose and creates more frustration than fun… If you will allow a large number of kids, at least put more people managing the activities to optimize the time…
Gustavo D — Google review
If you have children below 7 and you are not attending a birthday party. There is very little value for money and children of this age are restricted from a lot of the better activities to do.
J B — Google review
This is nothing compared to Kidzania. For younger kids there are too few activities where they can win money. The lady from Firefighters department was rude. The younger kids can only go in there at 13:30, 16,00 and 17,00. We were in line at 13,32 and she said that the activity started and to come back at 16,00. Later edit: we went there at 15,49 and she told us that we need to come with 20 mins in advance to get a spot. This is the third time I spoke with the lady today and only now she mentioned this. This is insane!
Loredana T — Google review
Great concept of indoor playground build like a city with policestation, fireman, postoffice, hospital, tv etc where kids have to work to earn money which they then can use to do other things inside. I would give 5 stars if the food was any better because its really bad quality please get some decent meat for your burgers.

Castle Manzanares el Real, a 15th-century fortress located less than an hour's drive from Madrid, is a well-preserved gem offering a glimpse into Spain's history. The castle houses 17th-century tapestries and furniture, as well as a museum dedicated to Spanish castles. Visitors can enjoy tranquil surroundings and sensational views of the lake while exploring the castle and its gardens. It's recommended to visit on weekdays for a more intimate experience.
Visited in August 2024 This is a fantastic Castle built overlooking a river. It is in pristine shape and has been very well organized and furnished to give you a view of life in the medieval times. This is not only a tourist stop but also it is been raised to a historical marker in my opinion because they have gone a long way to educating with their period tapestry, armor, weapons, tables, chairs, etc. Very well done and was a true pleasure to view! The new castle of Manzanares el Real , also known as the Mendoza castle is a palace-fortress of late medieval origin that is located in the municipality of Manzanares el Real , at the foot of the Guadarrama mountain range and next to the Manzanares River. Built in the 15th century on the site of a Romanesque-Mudejar church , which was integrated into the structure, it was conceived as the palatial residence of the House of Mendoza , one of the most influential lineages of Castile during the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. It replaced a previous castle, which was located in a nearby enclave, also owned by the aforementioned family. The architect Juan Guas participated in its construction , using Gothic-Isabeline traces, with Hispano-Muslim influences. It is considered the precedent of the Palacio del Infantado, a key work of Spanish Renaissance architecture, where the aforementioned author defined the palatial prototype of the reign of the Catholic Monarchs. Thanks to successive restorations, it is in an excellent state of conservation. It currently houses an Interpretation Centre on the Middle Ages, as well as a collection of tapestries, paintings, armour and furniture from the 16th to the 19th century . It was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1931.

Great visit, very well preserved castle just be ready for a little hike and a bunch of stairs inside. They have an app for your to have your own audio guide and do the visit at your own pace.

Nice place to visit with children. You can learn a bit about the old lords of this region. The castle looks like a mix of different make ups done through the time so not very authentic shape.
Pablo — Google review
This is the best-preserved medieval royal castle in the Autonomous Region of Madrid. The staff at the ticket office and inside the castle are very friendly and provide helpful information on how to navigate the park. We paid the standard ticket price of 5 EUR per person, which was reasonable. The entire castle is about five stories high, and there is a QR code at the entrance that provides an online audio tour in Spanish, but unfortunately not in English or other languages. Once inside, you can follow the numbered tour stops from 1 to 10. This beautiful royal castle is worth visiting. Located in a small town in the Autonomous Region of Madrid, it remains relatively unknown due to its distance from the center of Madrid. The transportation options are somewhat limited; the most convenient way to visit is by car. However, you can also take a bus from the city for 4.20 EUR each way. From the Intercambiador de Plaza Castilla station, take bus route 724, which takes about an hour, and get off at the Manzanares El Real-Iglesia station. If you have the opportunity to stay in Madrid for an extended period, this castle is highly recommended. One last thing to emphasize is that the bus stop sign is located on the -3 level inside the bus station, but you need to go down to the -2 level (same as the metro), then go to the connecting corridor at the end of the building to the other building and then go down to the -3 level to find the 25th dock, and then you will be able to find the bus route 724, which we found through the guidance of the security guards inside the station.

Great experience to share and see the old world! Less than an hour's drive from Madrid. Mother truly enjoyed her visit and being called Queen! Amazing tapestry and views. We were not able to see the play as you have to reserve at least a week in advance. Not expensive at all. Good bucket list item!

Recommended short trip to any tourist visiting Madrid. Castle is well preserved, possibility to visit rooms, walls, and even some towers. Beautifully surroundings. Fair entrance price.

The Castle is lovely and it is worth going. Unfortunately the person who was at the gate was aggressive. We didn't have tickets and we asked where to get them as we didn't see it. My boys were asking him about an armour and the guy was just telling he was going to get the security guard. Beware of that guy. After the agressive treatment we naturally didn't get tickets after.

Palacio del Infantado is a stunning Gothic-style palace in Guadalajara, built in 1480. It has a rich history, having hosted two notable royal weddings. The former Palace of the Dukes of Infantado was damaged during the Spanish Civil War but has been beautifully restored. The museum inside showcases local art and history, with a dramatic courtyard as its centerpiece. The ornate facade and beautiful interior with Renaissance decor make it a must-see attraction.
The only place we visited whenviaiting Guadalajara. Very interesting place and beautiful. They have a printed paper with the information about the items you cannot miss there. I believe that is the only English version information there. No issue with that, you can still spend time and explore it. Free entrance.

This palace (which is now a museum) is beautiful and really well preserved. The ornate decoration on the façade reminded me a bit of the Casa de Conchas in Salamanca. The inside is beautiful with lots of tiles and renaissance decor. We parked easily nearby. The gardens are also worth a visit, especially on a hot day!

The former Palace of the Dukes of Infantado was built in the 15th century and badly damaged in the Spanish Civil War of the 1930's. A video in the museum shows the extent of the damage and the neglect of the building later. But now it has been beautifully restored with the spectacular inner courtyard , the Patio de Leones, as a marvelous centre piece The museum is nice with some interesting details like some painted ceilings. There is also the beautiful marble tomb of Duchess Aldonza de Mendoza who died in 1435. It looks like she could wake up any moment When I visited, early January 2023, the entrance was free but that may have had to do with the holiday season.

👍🏽👍🏽 Worth the trip, FREE to access outside gardens (most glorious we’ve ever seen) 🚍 GETTING HERE from Segovia is 20 minute drive, buses aren’t frequent. In Segovia, go to bus depot (separate bus company from those operating inside Segovia), pay for your ticket on the bus, €3.70 round trip, CASH ONLY (bus driver has change). Buy food in segovia to picnic out here. ❌🐶 no pets. Perfect way to spend a few hours, even if the fountains are being repaired or are turned off due to drought (check their we site). Technically you cannot bring in food, but many people picnic inside (just don’t leave any trash). But you CAN eat just outside of the entrance in the lovely park—there are stone benches. 🚾 ♿️ Very clean, accessible bathrooms. Cobblestone and small stone paths. You pay to enter the art museum inside.

Nice palace to visit. Sadly when I came, the gardens were closed. The place is a little hard to find and I had to park on a side street. The gards wouldn't let me access the front. Still worth the visit, reminded me a little of the Royal palace of Madrid. I went in March, so there was practically no one.

Very nice, huge park, ample space for kids to run around. We spent 4 hours, without the palace itself, and didn't see everything. The park entry is free. In July they were repairing some fountains and for us the water plays were not on. Still, lots to see. Food is not permitted or available in the park, plan eating before or after in the nearby restaurants. Budget some time for strolling around the old town outside the park.

Muralla y Torre del Reloj, located in the town of Buitrago de Lozoya, are essential sites to visit. The medieval wall, with its origins dating back to the Arab era, was built to defend against Christian intrusions into Al-Andalus territory. The Clock Tower is an integral part of this wall and gets its name from the clock at its highest point.
It is a wall that you can walk along the Rio Lozoya. It is not crowded with people so it is good for walking. From the highest point, you can see the Buitrago del Lozoya at a glance.

The "Muralla" preservation is ok, but auxiliary cables on the floor and walls for lighting kill the magic if any. Ugly Mannequing as soldiers on the wall seem they have been taken from a cloths store. 2 Euros for going upstairs the wall and if you visit the curch 1 Euro for the light and 1 euro for going the bell house upstairs.

Spectacular canyons with breathtaking views of the meandring river Durantón from up top. Arrive at Burgomillodo and leave the car in the parking of the restaurant by the outfall of the reservoir. Cross the bridge towards the Factory and follow the earthed path upwards that will lead you to the beginning of the trek. Following the trek you'll end up on the plateau from where you can enjoy some amazing sights. You can keep following the serpentine route of the canyon and reach a point from where Ermita de San Frutos is viewed. The trek can be continued onwards and you'll see some ruins along the way which I guess are the remains of cattle shelters made by the locals. The difficulty level of the trek is low.

Peñafiel Castle, located in Valladolid, is a captivating hilltop fortress offering breathtaking views and guided tours. The castle was not meant for permanent residence but served as a refuge during threats and for visiting noblemen. A 40-minute guided tour, available only in Spanish, provides an intriguing insight into the castle's history. Additionally, the castle houses the Provincial Wine Museum, showcasing the region's rich winemaking tradition.
Fascinating castle and Museum of Wine. Well worth the guided tour, especially if you speak Spanish, but the handheld audio guides were very good. The museum is excellent and although information is only in Spanish, it isn't too difficult to work out most of the information.

The wine museum was genuinely interesting to visit, and the entrance is free, which is a nice bonus. The castle can only be visited with a guided tour, which might be a plus for those who enjoy detailed explanations. Personally, I would have preferred to explore it on my own. The view from the top platform of the castle is beautiful, but inside there isn’t much to see, as none of the original interiors have been preserved.

Beautiful looking castle structure with great views. I did not go in.
Raymond A — Google review
Wonderful views from a castle steeped in Spanish history. Long walk up steep road to access, but plenty of parking if driving at the top. €6.20 ticket for adult guided tour and entry to the wine museum.
Keith S — Google review
The castle itself is wonderful and impressive, however, it turned out to be a wine tour/museum, so the only way to see the inside is on a wine tour. You cannot roam by yourself, which was a disappointment. Still feel the "touch of history" by visiting

Bodegas Protos is a fantastic winery that offers an amazing tour experience. Visitors are impressed by the knowledgeable and friendly guides who provide insights into the wine-making process and the history of the bodega. The effort and history behind Protos wines are well presented, making it a must-see for wine enthusiasts. The tour provides a great understanding of Ribera del Duero wines, with excellent tasting experiences at the end.
What a fantastic Bodega, one of the best I’ve ever visited. Thanks so much Irene for your knowledge about the place, the wine and the history of this amazing Bodega. Irene was wonderful, nice and with a fantastic sense of humour. Loved this place. I booked this for my partner’s birthday and he loved it.
Coquito R — Google review
We visited Bodegas Protos for a tour, and while the winery itself is undeniably beautiful, it was our least favorite experience in the region. The atmosphere felt quite commercial, which isn’t really our style—we tend to prefer smaller, family-run wineries with a more intimate feel. It was also the only winery we visited that didn’t seem particularly kid-friendly, which made the visit a bit less enjoyable for our family. While it may appeal to those looking for a more polished, large-scale operation, it just wasn’t the right fit for us.
Jessica F — Google review
Nice place to visit, where I visit by tour. Get wine testing and also free wine glass. The tour guide explained really well
Helbert T — Google review
Dear Protos. You have been my favourite brand for years. Therefore I bought a private tour to Your winery today. Unfortunately, I’ve also asked my private guide to buy a bottle of wine, while waiting a hour before. Then, we’ve arrived. Yes, we’ve had a half of bottle unconsumed. And that is it. We left it inside, with 2 glasses. Was it a reason to send us outside, calling police? I think no. I’ve managed to calm all emotions down, but it’s something I don’t have to do during my time, being at holidays. Therefore I ask for apology from Your command in front of me, That was really bad behaviour. BRDS, DMITRI

We took a tour that lasted about an hour and 15 minutes, followed by a wine tasting. The tour guides where extremely knowledgeable and the ambience was phenomenal. Definitely worth a stop.
Kassim C — Google review
Fine winery with a lot of history in their wheels. We booked the tour + wine tasting at the end. I would recommend the cellar to update the initial phase with all the audiovisual contents, they look old fashioned and kind of boring. The guides were OK, the tasting was OK, nothing out of the blue for such an iconic cellar. They should probably revamp and rethink the process, nothing to complain, but living in 2023 it's good to be updated with the time being.
R E — Google review
Bodegas protons good history behind and very well presented, they do millions of litres wine there … you can understand where wines makers will bring the wines in the future

We are in love with Camino. OMG what a special person. Great connection and service.
Jose A — Google review
We had a fantastic time at the bodega during our wine tasting experience. Camino was our guide and she was amazing—so warm and welcoming! She spoke great English, even though we did the tour in Spanish, and made the whole experience really enjoyable for my husband, our little one, and me. We loved the wines we tried so much that we left with a few bottles to take home. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area! :)
Lauren K — Google review
Please forget about all other winery tastings. If there is only one visit to make to Ribera del Duero this is this place. Combined with a stay and meal at the posada, our dreams were fulfilled. Great value for the money and authentic hospitality. Back to the tasting: Camino (our wine guide) went out of her way to show us the hidden secrets and treasures of the winery. Exclusive wines from amfora but also wines tailored to our taste-spend ratio. Dosed with humour and history it is a visit that we will remember (until we return).

We had a tour + tasting with Tamara who was excellent! Very knowledgeable and patient with our limited Spanish. Very thorough tour with explanations of the whole process, followed by a great tasting. The most incredible wines!
Sarah M — Google review
We visited the wineyard couple of weeks ago and got truly a five star attention from Camino. She showed us the actual wineyard, the process of making wine, the cellar and we finished with amazing wine tasting with the best view you can get. The wine is excellent, and as a bonus you get an explanation about how to taste the wine as a pro :-) Camino is a great professional, with passion for her work. And she had a very sweet personal touch with us, as we commented we were having difficulties booking a visit to a beer craft factory and she actually managed to reach them and book us in :-) We will be back for sure, maybe for wine picking next time :-)

Bodegas Portia

Winery
Food & Drink
Bodegas Portia is an impressive winery located in Ribera del Duero, just a short drive from Madrid. The modern and elegant building, designed by Norman Foster, offers a variety of experiences for visitors. Guests can enjoy wine tastings at the bar downstairs, with tasting serves starting at around 0.60. The winery also features a museum and beautiful facilities.
Fantastic bodega. The architecture was amazing. The wine was excellent and the food in the restaurant first class. We saw the amazing building from the road, dropped in and despite there being no tour in English at that time, Carlos from the front desk took the trouble to show us around. Friendly welcoming staff, great atmosphere, stellar food and wine - definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended
Neville T — Google review
We were really looking forward to visiting this winery, but unfortunately, it turned into a disappointing and frustrating experience. From the moment we arrived, things were off. Despite the restaurant being visibly empty (only one table was full), we were told there were no available tables for dining. It was raining, and yet they insisted we sit outside on the terrace just to have a drink. We weren’t allowed to order any proper food—only tapas were available—which we were thankful for, but the whole situation felt dismissive and unwelcoming. Throughout our time there, the service remained cold and impersonal. No one explained anything about the wines, the food, or the winery itself. We felt completely ignored and unwelcome. It’s honestly the worst service we’ve experienced at a winery or restaurant. We left feeling disrespected and very disappointed. With so many beautiful wineries that value their guests, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for a more genuine and hospitable experience.
Ekaterina S — Google review
Did you know there’s an amazing restaurant in here? The castellano menu is my favorite. But we have tried the other one too during our last visit! Besides being one of the best wine manufacturers in the region (and yet not as popular as other bigger more comercial brands) this winery is a must stop if you are interested in getting to know more and learn about Ribera Del Duero wine region. And then there’s the restaurant… I mean, obviously anything you eat that’s accompanied by their excellent wine is going to taste twice as good. But the real thing is that the quality of the food, the selection of their raw materials, their service and knowledgeable staff makes this restaurant a top option when you are in the area. Their menus come with a generous amount of dishes for the value you pay and the quality you get. And there’s always some good discounts at their wine store downstairs after a good meal.
ENRIQUE C — Google review
Amazing architectural tour of Norman Foster’s genius design… our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, as for the wine, the Verdejo was the best above the two other reds, but that’s individual preference.
Lisbet S — Google review
Pleasant vineyard, with good tasting wine and a beautiful building. Staff member Raquel was particularly welcoming to our tasting request and overall friendly.
Jan F — Google review
Chose this specially as they advertise their gastro bar, and everywhere you look it says open all day. Imagine my surprise when the gastro bar was closed, and the restaurant only available if you made a reservation. Nowhere on their website or publicity does it mention this. Staff were utterly disinterested. AVOID.
Victor G — Google review
A modern, elegant and masterly designed (by no other than Norman Foster) winery with quite good wine, food and staff. From the moment one arrives, parks the car (in the shade), walks to the entrance of this magnificent building, one feels each corner has an ultimate purpose. Produce and show wine. I would recommend to try (possibly buy) the prima and summa wines. Depends on how much you want to spend. On the food menu, the carrillera was excellent.

Dear Family Martinez Zabala By vineyards I hope this comment will help other travelers that come from far away and plan to visit this particular winery Bodega Portia. We travelled from CR and made reservations days before our arrival. And email was sent requiring a change in time since we had a group of 12 and have a tight schedule. That email was never responded. Kept calling to anounce our arrival. We certainly were late at our arrival and as I read later in reviews, it doesn't matter if you are 2 minutes late or 1 hour late. Bodegas Portia has a non flexible policy on time arrival. A very rude woman in front desk simply told us the other people in the tour , have already started the tour. We kindly ask if we could join that "group" and only received a plain and very rude NO since they already started. Soon enough we discovered that all of it was a lie since we found 12 cups on a tasting table untouched, assuming there was no other group joining ours. This woman lied plainly to our face. Resuming all we lost our money, and to compensate from Bodegas Portia we got a 7 minute "tour" from a window to see the cellar and a minimum cup of wine on an empty restaurant. Ill share the pictures of how they "compensated" I think Bodegas Portia and staff have no idea or training in how to treat people on tour companies that come from abroad. No courtesy to far away travelers. If you are reading this, I can suggest other wonderful wineries like MATAROMERA that puts a heart into the experience, Marquez de Riscal, Heras de Cordon. I will never recommend Bodegas Portia to anyone. Bodegas Portia lacks of warmth, heart or passion.

The town is very impressive , there are stil monks living here. Go down, along the place where the monks washed their cloths, and have lunch in the hotel in the left. From there we did a walk to Yecla

A long way from anywhere, this great Benedictine pile towers over the village around it. The Gregorian chant is past its Grammy-winning glory days, but evening Vespers still attracts a good crowd in summertime. A highlight of the cloister visit is the renaissance-era pharmacy, complete with a huge copper still, stone mortar and pestle, and dozens of jars, vials, and pots for herbs and potions...straight out of Harry Potter!

Monastery of Nuestra Señora de Valvanera

Monastery
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the stunning La Rioja mountains, the Monastery of Nuestra Señora de Valvanera is a hidden gem that offers an enchanting escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Although much of it was rebuilt after a fire in the last century, remnants of its original charm remain intact. Visitors are drawn to its serene atmosphere and breathtaking views, making it one of the most tranquil spots among local monasteries. The accommodations are comfortable and impeccably clean, providing a cozy retreat for travelers.
Most of this was rebuilt after a fire in the last century, but parts of the original remain. However, the real attraction is the extraordinary atmosphere of peace and serenity, coupled with the views. In that respect certainly the best of the three mountain monasteries in the region.

Bodegas Lecea is situated in the historic Las Cuevas de San Asensio neighborhood, where over 300 cave cellars were constructed by local farmers in the 16th century for wine storage. Visitors can embark on a tour of the caves, enjoy tastings and lunch, and explore the vineyards in a vintage Land Rover. The bodega's operations incorporate the caves into their modern-day activities while also showcasing historical artifacts.
Took a perfectly timed rest day from the Camino De Santiago to enjoy this wonderful tour. We got to walk through the incredible wine caves and tasted some fantastic wines. This is a MUST SEE if you’re anywhere close to this area!

We visited many bodegas while in the Rioja region, and Bodegas Lecea was the highlight of our trip. We toured the caves with a glass of wine in hand. After visiting the caves we tasted a couple varieties in the tasting room. Then we went to the vineyards to see where the grapes are grown and had a delicious lunch amongst the vines. It was a wonderful experience that we will always remember!

We did an amazing tour of the winery in English. The value for money on the tour is astonishing : for just 25 euros you get to try 3/4 of their wines and a plate with cheese, picos and chorizo. The tour is really interesting and it’s really different from other winery tours in different reactions of Europe. The lady who took us around the winery was super nice and really funny. Would really recommend!

We did a tour and it was amazing from beginning to end! Our guide Carolina was awesome! She was very knowledgeable and funny, the tour never got boring! It was awesome to see the traditional ways of wine making, and walking around in the caves. The value for the price is exceptional! You get to try 3 wines plus some appetizers at the end!

One of the best winery experiences I’ve ever had! I recently completed my WSET Level 3 and wanted to explore Rioja and wow, this was the perfect winery to visit. We went on October 4 during the Fiesta del Pisado, and it was such a cool experience! We toured the cellars, learned how they produce their famous Corazón de Lago Rioja wine, and enjoyed a wonderful tasting. Afterwards, we even got to take part in the grape-treading process...actually stomping the grapes in the “lake” to help make the wine! The hospitality was incredible, and the food was excellent. The granddaughter was so kind and helpful and our tour guide was so knowledgeable. We loved every minute of our visit and, of course, the wine was outstanding. We bought several bottles to take home!!

Lecea winery is not just a winery ! It's a trip back in time, into traditions of wine making and life in the area of Rioja Alta! Lecea family stands proud in the footprints of their grandparents, working hard to maintain the tradition and offer a glimpse of the past to all of us passing their threshold! From the beginning till the end, our experience there was beautiful and warm and friendly! We arrived as tourists interested in the culture and winemaking of the area and we left as friends with a great desire for coming back! Lidia and her family are very warm and welcoming people. We joined a Spanish speaking tour, but Lidia took the time to explain everything in English, too and gave us great insights of the life, the winemaking and the traditions of the area. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Larisa S — Google review
Amazing experience visiting the wine caves and having a picnic lunch in the vineyard. We were warmly welcomed by the Lecea family and had an amazing guide, Christina. Our entire family, including 2 younger daughters, really had a wonderful time. Would recommend the full experience(cave, wine tasting and picnic lunch) to anyone who visits!
Mark W — Google review
I can highly recommend this bodega. We joined an English-speaking tour that lasted about 1.5 hours. What I really liked was that there were two wine tastings during the tour itself, perfectly paired with the explanations about viticulture – not just a quick tasting at the very end like in many other places. What also makes this bodega special is its history: at one point the town had around 300 underground cellars, but today this is the only one that still exists in its original form. Here it’s really all about tradition, history, and craftsmanship – and you can feel the authenticity throughout. Our guide was very friendly as well. Absolutely recommended!

The Winery - Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture is a vast museum that pays homage to the 8,000-year-old relationship between man and the vine. It features rooms dedicated to ancient wine production, interactive projects on wine color and aroma, wine art and symbols, as well as the history of wine service. The museum showcases an impressive collection of wine-related art and artifacts accumulated by the Vivanco family.
Fantastic winery museum really detailed everything you want to know about wine making over the world. Worth the price of admission for sure. Also we loved that La Isla red label!

Vivanco Museum is without the doubt the best wine museum in the world! Make sure that you reserve at least two-three hours to visit this spectacular place, as the amount of the items and the size of the exhibition are huge. Their wines from the Vivanco collection, including sparkling wines, are incredible!
Wine I — Google review
I have visited it many years ago, it’s an amazing place: aesthetically pleasing, with various artifacts of art regarded to the wine production.
Anastasia — Google review
It is quite expensive (18 euros each) and exhibits do not come with English translation (I know I’m in Spain and i wouldn’t expect a local restaurant to have an English menu for instance. But for a museum targeting tourists, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect) and the audio guide is really badly made - doesn’t move from one track to the other, so for every track you have to go back to the main menu. You also have to give them a bunch of information just to access the app and audio guide you are unlikely ever to use again. Otherwise a pretty nice museum and some interesting exhibits. The area around the museum is really scenic as well.
Gloria — Google review
Good place to visit. The guided tour is very nice and the guide very knowledgeable. The cellar is worth it and very well designed. The restaurant food is very nice and the service just fantastic. The wines were not so good to me. But highly recommended visit nonetheless.
David — Google review
This museum is just amazing. It is best presentation of the entire process of assessing the land, preparing the soil, how the plants are cultivated and the history of diseases that impacted the European root stock. They over the process of pruning then the harvest and processing of the grapes. The video presentation are superb. The history of the wine presses is very well done. Then they cover all the steps in storing the wine in barrels and the details of barrel construction. Then there is the making of corks, bottling and shipping. They have the most extensive collection of cork screws. Then you are able to tour the active wine vine garden to see all the varietal grapes growing along side a large vineyard field. This place is a must and the learning experience is outstanding!
Allan C — Google review
Visited without booking. Large free car park and extremely helpful staff who talk you through the proposed tour and wine tasting. Museum is 21 years old but is pristine The displays and exhibitions are first class taking 2-3 hours to take in all the information. The wine tasting provided a selection of two from 18 bottles which were different but most enjoyable. Well worth a stop in the heart of the Rijca 'Alto' region.

⸻ Expectations were high since my parents visited this place about 15 years ago. Apparently, everything has changed. This was anything but good. We started off in a sauna (the entrance), spending 30 minutes in front of a roll-up banner. The guide knew their stuff, but the heat and the noise from all the other groups in this commercial setting were unbearable. Our group had about 15 people, but others had up to 50. We had booked the premium package, which included a guided tour, wine tasting, and a six-course meal. After about 1 hour and 20 minutes, the tour was over. We were taken to a large, fully packed tiled dining hall with a terrible noise level and crowded with people. Wine was poured without any presentation. Then came the food… This is among the worst meals I’ve ever had. (Some parts were inedible.) Overcooked ravioli with a sweet sauce. Everything leaned towards being sweet—even the seafood salad, which I couldn’t finish. When the tuna arrived, my daughter started crying. It was unbalanced and overcooked. I took one bite and couldn’t eat more. Inedible. The dessert was cold milk with chopped pears poached in wine. I felt almost sick after the meal. This place has become impersonal, commercialized, and extremely overpriced. I cannot recommend it.

Amazing. I did the visit of the Bodega (winery) plus the lunch tasting menu. The Bodega itself is worth the visit, completely built/hidden/integrated within a hill. A must do.

Caverns & Caves
Pozalagua Cuevas, located in the western part of the Basque Country, is a fascinating cavern discovered by accident in 1957. It has become a popular tourist destination due to its extraordinary stalactites and stalagmites that resemble a richly decorated cathedral. The cave is known for its high concentration of eccentric stalactites growing in irregular directions, creating a unique and beautiful sight.
This is the most extraordinary and spectacular stalactite cave I have ever seen. It has not only the normal vertical dripping stalactites that I have seen before, but also a lot of long and curved stalactites that look like vines. Our guide went into great detail about the journey to this cave, where photography is basically not allowed, especially with flash, as the light and humidity affect the environment in which the stalactites are formed. However, there are some special spots where photographs are allowed and the guide will inform you when you can take it. This was a wonderful experience to enjoy the beautiful of the nature.

As a caver from the Uk & has experienced lots of international caving expeditions & lots of tourist caves too I was blown away with the size & amount of helictites. The guide was super friendly & the handheld translation devise worked really well. Definitely worth the money & the 5star rating

A geologist's dream cave in the beautiful valley of Carranza. Many different formations, including rare eccentric stalactites. Beautiful!

The cave is absolutely spectacular, and one of the best I've been to. However, there is one major problem for English speakers - the translations provided are terrible. Our group was provided with two speakers for translations - unfortunately there were four of us, so this was unworkable. An app is available, but it is unusable. It needs internet access to download the content (not available underground), GPS to locate you (also not available underground), or QR codes to scan to show the translation (not enough light in the cave to scan the QR codes, and the app disables your phone light). It is also a stupid AR app, which attempts to show the translations at knee height. I'd have preferred it if they just said no translation available, to avoid wasting my time with the app. Alternatively, just provide us with a sheet of paper with the translation.

An amazing place. Before you go inside the cave, you can walk around outside, beautiful views of the mountains, there is a small restaurant, a park, bathrooms, and the old quarry. The scale of it, with its vertical walls of stone is a must see. Entering the caves is by guided tours of 50 people max. You must reserve ahead of time. The guides are very informative, there are hand rails and non slippery walkways. Absolutely no photography allowed, primarily for your own safety and to make sure the group stays together. But they eventually let you, when it's deemed appropriate, and then you will be able to capture photos of the rock formations, take selfies or panoramics. Doing it before, will get you an immediate removal. What you will experience will stay in your memory forever, no photos or words can describe it.

Well preserved worth visiting. Above average guilding. The only drawbac was that the visiting groups are too big.
