(Translated by Google) Beautiful, very beautiful walk (about 10 km round trip), accessible to everyone. There were many families with children and dogs of all sizes in tow. If you go there in a rainy period they are certainly more beautiful, in dry periods they become little more than a trickle (Original) Belle, molto bella la passeggiata (circa 10 km tra andata e ritorno),alla portata di tutti. (Translated by Google) Beautiful walk of about an hour and forty minutes from S. Benedetto in Alpe, practically all in the shade. Medium difficulty (there are many large stones). In my opinion it is not advisable for the elderly or small children. For the rest beautiful woods, beautiful water and several small waterfalls until you get to Lei, the Acquacheta which with its flow of water enchants. Possibility of bathing in several small beaches. Easy parking and some restaurants in S. Benedetto. A beautiful experience. I recommend it. Parcheggio facile e qualche ristorante a S. Benedetto.Una bella esperienza. La consiglio.

Mugello Circuit

Mentioned on

Car racing venue
Sights & Landmarks
Mugello Circuit is a renowned racing circuit that features a parkland track spanning over 5000m, regularly hosting thrilling car and motorcycle races. Despite experiencing a rainy day, visitors were captivated by the impressive cars and even had the opportunity to take a van ride around the track. The infrastructure was lauded as top-notch, making it an ideal location for motorcycle racing.
Despite visiting many races across Europe, I had never visited Mugello. My son & I visited the famous Mugello for the full 3 days this year. We hired a motorbike in Florence & rode to the circuit (about 40mins). The roads to the circuit were great and clearly signposted. Amazingly, we found that we could park on the circuit roads or small car parks on the circuit for free. We found a great viewing only 4mins from our parking spot! From there, we could see >80% of the circuit & there was a large tv screen close by to watch the race, replays & positions. Facilities were superb & not too expensive compared to, say, Silverstone. The atmosphere, viewing, Facilities & entrance/exit using the motorbike were great even on the main race day (Sunday). Highly recommended & we will go again.
Neil B — Google review
Great circuit, but is missing a museum and a caffè inside the circuit. With the story of this circuit is a must to have a museum.

5EUR to look at trackday event, walk around paddock, at any of the grand stands or the green areas... It was a fiver well spent. Moto trackday, but trucks were loaded with formula classics brought for a next event - some testing - got to see older Haas car too! haha
Zilvinas R — Google review
I spent the weekend at Mugello Circuit and had an amazing time. The track itself is legendary, fast, flowing, and absolutely thrilling to ride. Organization was top from start to finish, and the track marshals were outstanding: professional, alert, and always on point. Everything felt safe, well-coordinated, and smoothly managed. If you love motorsport, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be back.
Fabio T — Google review
Mugello is possibly the best track in the world! Excellent viewing, good sight lines, ease of access, friendly staff. General Admission is all around the track excluding stand areas - see the attached image. Hospitality in the Grandstand is first class - highly recommended. Spectator spectating is also available free of charge!!! Getting to and from the track during raceday is a frustration .... but 150,000 people keep doing it, so it can only be worthwhile!!
Phil G — Google review
Amazing race track at an incredible location in the Tuscan hills. Easily accessible by car or train, top notch facilities, great viewing angles from the grandstands. Love Mugello!!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
San Pietro a Romena is a stunning parish church located about 10 kilometers from Poppi. This ancient church, built entirely of stone in 1152, showcases remarkable Romanesque architecture and houses valuable works of art. Nearby, the imposing ruins of the Castle of Romena stand as a testament to its rich historical significance. Visitors describe the area as spiritually uplifting and ideal for quiet prayer and meditation.
Visiting San Pietro a Romena was a peaceful and enriching experience. The church is small but very significant in terms of its history. The surrounding area is perfect for a nice walk and offers great views. It’s an off-the-beaten-path location, so if you're looking for a less touristy spot, this is ideal

Castello dei Conti Guidi

Mentioned on
8 lists
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
The Castle of the Earls Guidi, located in the hamlet of Poppi in Casentino, is a well-preserved medieval castle that has served as the seat of local political power for centuries. It stands as a dominant monument in the area and offers visitors an audio tour to explore its manuscript-filled library and bell tower with panoramic views. The castle's history is intertwined with that of the Guidi family, who resided there for nearly four hundred years.
It's possible to visit inside as well, is very interesting the things. The visit can be done in a few minutes as the castle is not so big. There is also a prison inside with the remains of a skeleton. The inside of the castle can only be visited if you pay, and the ticket price is very affordable.
Chris C — Google review
We recently explored the Castello dei Conti Guidi in Poppi – and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you arrive, the fortress impresses with its solid stone façade and majestic tower rising against the Tuscan sky. But the real treasure lies within: a dramatic staircase bathed in light, centuries-old coats of arms lining the walls, and perfectly preserved medieval architecture that feels alive with history. Wander through rooms filled with knightly armor, vibrant frescoes, and elegant details. The highlight? A breathtaking library holding over 25,000 ancient volumes – a true sanctuary of knowledge and craftsmanship. This castle is not just a visit – it’s a deep dive into the soul of Tuscany’s noble past. Enjoy your stay here and have a fantastic time! 👋
Matthias C — Google review
We were staying nearby and decided to walk up to Poppi Castle ( and when I say up.....it really is an uphill walk). The castle was everything I expected it to be and more. It was beautiful, and the views were amazing. It is very rich in history and has many stories behind it. You can even walk in an old jail cell. The walk up to the bell tower is nice, just beware, the bell still rings every 30 minutes. I recommend going. There is also a cute cafe across the street when you are finished.
Nicole W — Google review
Extremely interesting castle with many rooms and exhibits and a terrific view from the bell tower. Excellent value for entry fee.
Barb L — Google review
Really worth a visit, they kept the interiors in good conditions; the library is very inspiring.
Marc R — Google review
The first time in my life that it was possible to visit such an old building with a dog. He could enter it. What a surprise. Fantastic place, rich histories, worth to see.
Mario D — Google review
Small castle but well preserved and with commanding views all around over this part of Tuscany which is the less known and, therefore, less crowded. Side by side with the castle walls there are people living their common everyday lives which is interesting.

Outlet Barberino

Mentioned on
10 lists
Outlet mall
Shopping
Outlet Barberino, located just north of Florence, is a designer outlet store that resembles a Tuscan village. It features a variety of top brands such as Adidas, Levis, Dolce & Gabbana, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger. While the discounts may not be as steep as in other outlets, it offers a convenient and enjoyable stopover for fashion enthusiasts on long road trips. The outlet also provides diverse food options and seating areas to relax in the shade.
Pleasantly surprised to visit this place during our stints to watch the car races in the Mugello circuit. Went just to pass time but ended up filling the bags with super discounted items. The Spada Roma had wonderful discounts in cappotto and jackets. Lucky that I visited during this time of the year! Will surely get back since it’s just 3 hours drive from Milan
Maheshwaran J — Google review
I saw about 60 people, maybe as it was so hot? Prices are not worth the detour. Clean and secure though, some nice eateries
Paul S — Google review
We have been here hoping to find some gems. Although there are a lot of shops, there were few clothes, at least for women. Or the collections at this moment in time were awful…I am not sure. And the discounts, in some shops it did not feel like outlet prices. Anyway, not worth the 50 min trip.
Alexandra N — Google review
No better place for a Sunday after 5 PM! The outlet near Florence is the perfect spot to spend a relaxed Sunday evening. After 5 PM, the crowds thin out, making it ideal for browsing top designer stores without stress.
R R — Google review
It’s an okay outlet — nothing special. On the plus side, there’s a huge parking area with over ten charging spots for electric cars, which is really convenient. But despite the number of stores, the selection is underwhelming, and prices are exactly the same as in downtown Bologna. Honestly, there’s no real reason to come here just for shopping. You’ll find the same brands and deals in the city, with a much better atmosphere. Not worth a dedicated trip.
Andrew Z — Google review
Very nice outlet, you can walk around and enjoy lot of italian and worldwide brands, prices are good. Lot of stores for kids clothes. There are coffee shop to rest and enjoy drink.
Saed B — Google review
Wow… amazing place. Just the experience of this place is spectacular Local hotels/hosts might have discounts for this place.. ask in reception
Yousef B — Google review
Decent outlet mall just outside of Florence, has most of the larger brands you would expect. No large discounts however when we were there. Parking options are great and layout of the area is well arranged. Felt however a bit desolated on a rainy weekday.

Vallombrosa Abbey, a stunning gem tucked away in the lush Tuscan hills between Florence and Arezzo, is a remarkable site steeped in history and spirituality. Founded in the 11th century by San Giovanni Gualberto, this Benedictine monastery continues to serve as a sanctuary of prayer and tranquility.
Absolutely majestic building nestled in the incredible woods planted by the Vallombrosiani monks. A fresh oasis not so far from Florence
Giulio A — Google review

Jorge B — Google review
A wonderful place to visit! Vallombrosa Abbey is full of history, peace, and natural beauty. You can also buy gin, jewelry, and books made by the monks themselves. A truly unique and enriching experience!
Aleksander P — Google review
The Vallombrosa Abbey is a significant religious and artistic legacy in the very heart of Tuscan hills and forests between Florence and Arezzo. Funded in the 11th century by San Giovanni Gualberto, a Florentine Monk who fought all life long against corruption and was very much appreciated by Pope Alexander the II, this Abbey is still a shelter of prayer, silence and beauty. Around the Abbey, you can enjoy fresh air and relief from heat in the warm season, when many people escape the surrounding cities to reach Vallombrosa (shadowed valley), its beautiful parks and forests.

very helpful safety training before we started, many pacours for all levels, enjoyed every minute of our stay
Paul O — Google review
Highly recommended for families! What an amazing climbing park! Adventure Park Il Gigante is without a doubt the best treetop adventure park we've visited in years. We went with our children and all had an absolutely fantastic time for hours on end. Right from the start, it was clear how well everything was organized. The safety instructions and equipment briefing were clear and professional, allowing everyone – young and old – to start the courses with confidence. There are different levels of difficulty, making it truly suitable for all ages. Our younger children had a great time on the child-friendly routes, while the older kids, and we as adults, were also fully challenged with exciting obstacles and beautiful, long ziplines. The courses are not only fun, but also varied and well-maintained. You can tell that everything has been put together with care and attention. On top of that, the park is set in a beautiful, green environment, which makes the experience even more special. In short: if you're in the area and looking for a fun, active, and well-organized activity with your family, this park is an absolute must-visit. We had an amazing day and will definitely come back!
Leon H — Google review
Highly recommended. I took my 8 year old and 10 year old boys here - 3 hours of absolute fun and grit. The kids have been to many adventure parks but these ones were one of the best tracks and zip lines that they have done. Very friendly and caring staff (they went up 2-3 times to help out) and it is less busy after 3 pm on weekdays as prior to that sometimes they have some school kids coming from nearby towns. There is a toilet here and nearby fresh water fountain as well.
Aloke B — Google review
Great tree adventure place, lots of different courses for different ages and abilities. Friendly and helpful staff and good value, definitely recommended.
Rowland C — Google review
A great climbing park with very friendly staff. The instructor spoke clear English, which made everything easy to follow. Our three children had a wonderful time this week – even our youngest, who is only 5 years old. Our eldest, 10, could have stayed and enjoyed it for hours more. Highly recommended! Gr from Belgium

Friendly staff. Delicious and affordable food. Go in the late afternoon to avoid School holiday crowds. Better to hang around here during the day to avoid the summer heat then slowly head down to Firenze to enjoy the night life and a well deserved aperitif (granted if you actually did all courses).

Amazing zipline park. If you’re traveling with kids, this place is a must. Perfect for the whole family, 3 years and older. In a day of extreme heat, we didn’t feel hot because you’re under the shade of the trees all the time. Beautiful and such fun place! The owner and staff were so nice. Totally recommend visiting!

Gucci - Leccio Outlet

Boutique
Shopping
Luxury brand known for modern, Italian-crafted leather goods, apparel & accessories for men & women.
A very large and extremely good Gucci outlet. There is a wide selection of clothes and especially shoes, with prices that are really good. Sometimes it’s hard to find the right sizes, but that’s normal for an outlet. You may also have to wait a bit to be served, since you can’t just pick the items yourself. Other than that, I think it’s the best shop inside the mall.
Temmuz A — Google review
We received amazing assistance on the sales floor from Luca, who was friendly, knowledgeable and patient through our multiple purchases. However when it came to checkout, the cashier staff was rude, especially after I pointed out that he had filled my tax refund form incorrectly. I guess once Gucci has taken your money they don’t feel obligated to treat you decently anymore. Left the store on a sour note.
Pris — Google review
Wonderful store! Large, a lot of products from purse, shoes, clothes. Sales associates nice and friendly. They had a fire alarm as I was buying a purse and had to leave the store for about 20 minutes. Thought about not buying the purse I wanted but glad I did. I feel like I got a good price for the product. No regrets. The whole mall area is nice.
Tricia L — Google review
Shout out to Antonella for assisting us! She’s super kind and patient — definitely deserves more than 5 stars. The Gucci Outlet has a huge selection and great discounted prices. No regrets shopping here, totally worth the visit!
Kenji R — Google review
I went there on a rainy day, the service was impeccable & very friendly. They have a variety of options dating until 2021 and they had the Jackie collection on hand which is exactly what I was looking for. They also provided umbrella and bag protectors during this rainy day.
Stefanie T — Google review
Really great Gucci store to visit! Prices are good compared to other places, and there’s a huge variety of items to see. The store has three floors — the first and second are full of Gucci products like bags, clothes, shoes, and accessories, while the third floor is just for payments, which makes checkout quick and simple. The place is big, well organized, and very easy to shop in. Perfect spot for anyone traveling here and looking for a nice Gucci shopping experience. Highly recommended!

A lot of options. But not all options available in Milan. Apparently the outlet has a little bit of a different offerings. This is the biggest Gucci store I’ve ever ever seen. It has clothes, bags, you name it they got it. Definitely an interesting place to see and prices are cheaper than Milan

Had the most amazing experience with Luca. He took the time with me and my sister in law to show us many bags. We each bought a bag and I bought my husband a card holder. Fabulous service.

Il Borro, a luxurious hotel located on a 13th-century estate in Tuscany, offers an elegant stay with fine dining, an infinity pool, and a deluxe spa. The property is owned by the Ferragamo family and is filled with impeccable interior decor, art, and gourmet cuisine. With various lodging options including villa suites in the medieval village, historic villas once owned by Italian nobility, and charming farmhouses.
Amazing high end resort in a quiet Tuscan valley! Beautiful views everywhere, delicious food (3 restaurants plus other spots to grab snacks and drinks), terrific wine tours and tastings, 3 pools, tennis, golf and walking trails! Huge resort! The medieval village is wonderful! Staff was fantastic!
Henry B — Google review
We recently stayed at Il Borro, and unfortunately, there were several aspects that we found unacceptable for a property marketed as 5-star and costing over €500 per night. Service – The service is far from attentive. Most staff are very young and seem to lack proper training. They often didn’t know basic information and weren’t able to approach guests with the professionalism you would expect at this level of hospitality. Breakfast – Extremely disappointing. The selection was limited, and many items came at an extra charge even though breakfast was supposedly included. This is unacceptable considering the price per room and how other hotels of the same category include a much broader offering. The croissants (in Italy!) were comparable to what you might find in an airport lounge. Bistro – The recipes were nice, but the portions were extremely small to the point of being unsatisfying. Pools – The pools were very cold and not heated, making them essentially unusable unless you are staying during the hottest summer days. Overall, Il Borro feels designed more to impress international visitors than to deliver genuine Italian luxury hospitality. For the price, you can easily find far better experiences elsewhere. In our view, it is simply not worth the money spent.

An absolutely gorgeous property but you have to be okay with walking and hiking distance. Service was okay. We had issues with our air conditioner and the staff at the front desk brushed us off until we were directed to the manager Mateo. He was wonderful and got the issue repaired. We really enjoyed the hiking trails.

We spent three nights at Il Borro and I would give it a 3.5-4 star rating. We had high expectations for the resort and amenities given its marketing and third party reviews, but in comparison to similarly profiled and ranked hotels I would say that Il Borro was a bit lackluster. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and detail oriented, so I would give service a 5 star rating. The rooms, though very clean, felt a bit tired. There were lots of scuff marks along the walls from suitcases and other minor details that should be addressed at a five-star rated hotel. We had issues with our air conditioning during the trip, and a service person came up promptly to help fix it. My husband ended up troubleshooting the issue, but the service person was very friendly and tried to help. The restaurants were nice, however, between the three restaurants the food was very similar and uninspiring. The ingredients were very fresh and the quality was excellent, but it would be nice to see some variety between the restaurants and between the lunch and dinner menus. The three pools were stunning. Our favorite pool was the smaller pool located within the medieval village. This pool was more secluded and provided more shade, which was great during the heat of the day. Of the three pools, all were child friendly. It would be nice if there was either an adult only or child only designated pool (out of the three) or quiet hours at the pools. The pools were often pretty busy with families who took over with little regard for other patrons. The spa treatments were lovely and the spa therapists were very talented and professional. The spa itself was quite small and next to a busier area, so you could hear people outside during your treatments. There was not a spa lounge and the locker room was pretty basic. The gym on the property was well appointed and very clean. The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed hiking around, visiting the horses and looking at the historic architecture of the medieval village. Overall, Il Borro was a lovely place to visit and we enjoyed our stay; however, our experience was a bit lackluster given the marketing and praise it has received elsewhere.

Our second time at Il Borro – and once again, it was pure Tuscan magic! From the beautifully restored medieval village to the peaceful vineyards and rolling hills, every detail reflects the unique spirit of this place. What makes Il Borro truly special is the Ferragamo family’s vision: their dedication to authenticity, sustainability, and timeless elegance is felt in every stone, every tree, every moment. It’s not just a resort – it’s a living, breathing piece of Tuscany. A highlight of our stay was dinner at Il Pomario, where tradition meets creativity. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, the food outstanding. And once again, a heartfelt thank you to Denisa and her team – your hospitality, attention to detail, and kindness made us feel incredibly welcome. Il Borro has become a place close to our hearts. We’ll be back – no doubt about it.

We booked a suite for 3 nights. The rooms were spacious and the interior was lovely. Felt like a little home. The mini bar with a few drinks was included. But we had horrible nights. How could you put a sweet for almost 1000€ on the first floor with rooms above? I woke up at 23:30 because the lady above me was walking in heels for 20 mins. I called the reception - this is crazy for a 5 star resort. The other days the rooms next door were playing loud music, so we had to ask them to put it down. Never experienced that before in any 5 star resort and we stayed at rosewood before when it was part of the Il borro family. Breakfast included but horrible? Hard bread. Not even selfmade. The only fresh veggies were tomatoes. For egg dishes you had to pay extra between 10-20€?? Never had a bad breakfast like that. So underwhelming. Food in general was expensive but not really good. I had a cold steak on the first night. The days after we rather drove to Florence to eat, because it was horrible. Service was okay. They really really tried their best. But it seemed like students for a summer job that never worked at a 5 star resort before. We had to wait too lokg for the service. They never filled up our water. The pool had no service? You had to go inside by yourself to order a water. Too many loud kids. The pool at the bar didn’t allow kids but still nobody asked the parents to use the other pool so you just had to accept loud kids playing there. (FYI there are 2 pools where kids are allowed.) Only thing I enjoyed was the horse riding lesson with Martina. She was so amazing and I had the best time. It was a private lesson. Sorry, 5 stars is not it. I stayed at amazing 5 star resorts like forestis dolomites and I excepted it so be the same. But it’s overpriced and overhyped for nothing. You don’t even get a cold water when checking out for your drive back?? Never experienced such a bad service at a 5 star resort. We stayed at La Posta Vecchia Close to Rome and water was included everywhere! At Il Borro a water by the pool was 12€ (!!??).

First of all, I would like to thank the exceptional service received in this establishment every single person that served the restaurant, the spa, the pools, concierge, and our lovely cooking class teacher Nicolai, Thank you. My family (Four people) and I spent 5 nights here all agree on the following: The property is beautiful, nice location, good spa services, but the food experience was a complete disaster. The only meal you can expect to get enough protein is breakfast. This was a huge problem in every meal after breakfast. For all of us and we are not big eaters but we are all very active. The worst meal we all agree was in the Michelin Star Restaurant. The food was exceptionally aesthetic but a 0 out of 10 for taste. The portions were 50% mainly of flowers, clovers and sauces. My husband and I are health centric individuals and we’re expecting to have the bare minimum of protein needs to be meet in a place such as this. We were served a fried LEAF. Radish decorated with clovers, one small potato with bitter green sauce and 55 grams (2 Ounces) of steak. The tiny tuna pasta was super dry and the sauce wasn’t good tasting but made it less dry. The only dish you can get adult sized is an undercooked risotto. Everything was SUPER SALTY. The desert menu was so bad no one wanted anything. The poor staff felt bad because they saw disappointed we were and they came back with chocolate and that was the highest point of the whole meal. The chairs were very uncomfortable and for $389 Euros this was a fail. The bistro and the café had the same problem, but had fair prices the only thing you can get to meet a very basic level of protein is a hamburger. We stayed 5 nights in this place and by the third night I really had a difficult time with this. I workout regularly and felt weak because I didn’t meet my nutritional needs everyday. We supplemented with liquid protein and it still was not enough. Each meal would end up at 10pm no matter what time you get there, we get there 7:30 or the earliest reservation possible. There is only so much socialization can happen before people are too hungry or tired to eat. For the price of the stay, this does not meet the five star criteria. We stayed at two other 5 star properties in two different regions to compare it with. The pictures of website show a lot of beautiful parts of the property they fail to mention is part of the private villa and not accessible to people staying in the property. The villa is beautiful

Had the pleasure of being at Il Borro for a beautiful wedding, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. The food? Wow. Every meal was rich in flavour and beautifully presented. The hospitality? Wow. Warm, attentive, and truly welcoming from start to finish. The attention to detail? On point. Every space and moment felt thoughtfully curated. The couple made full use of the venue — from an intimate setup in the wine cellars to a powerful ceremony in the amphitheater, it was all unforgettable. Huge respect to the amazing planners who brought it together seamlessly: Anne Louise Holm Ferragamo from MadeByMade and Mpire Weddings from India — a dream team that executed everything flawlessly. A breathtaking venue and an even better experience. Grateful to have been part of it.

My son and I stopped in unannounced during our Tuscany leg of our Eurotrip. Maurizio met us with a smile and offered to take us out riding on the spot! He saw that we are very experienced moto riders so he took us on an outstanding, fun trail throughout the Tuscan forests! This was the best day and most fun my son and I had on our entire European trip! That's saying something because we started out in Munich at Oktoberfest! I would highly recommend Crazy Quad Toscana if you're in the region and want to have a fantastic day of adventure!

If you’re in the area - this is a must. You’re not going to have a better experience and see more any other way. My group made great memories and had the greatest time. The lunch place we stopped at in the middle was also probably the best pasta we’ve had in Italy.

Every trip to Tuscany needs to include the ATV/Quad ride with Crazy Quad Toscana. The views of the countryside are amazing. You see the Tuscan countryside in ways you could only see from an off road experience. Maurizio was a tremendous guide even though our Italian is terrible. Make sure you do the four hour ride so you can go to a historic hill town and enjoy a great Tuscan lunch. It is safe, relaxing, fun and a memorable experience for adults and kids. This was the second time we did it and our ages ranged from 6 to 50.

I did a full day tour in I believe 2014. We spend almost a month traveling all over Italy and the quad trip was honestly the highlight of my entire trip. Marizio (spelled wrong I'm sure) was awesome. He quickly realized that I had experience riding quads and he adjusted the tour to fit me and my friends experience level. I'm glad he did! It was awesome. Technical at times and easy at others. The break in the middle of the ride for lunch was incredible. We were all pretty muddy by then and we sat down at table with a white table cloth and had a multi course meal with limoncello and espresso at the end of it. Everything was soooo good. I'd love to go back some day. To this day, any time someone tells me that they're going to Italy, I tell them to take this tour. Can't say enough good things about it. The price was good considering the meal that is included as well!!

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the picturesque Chianti Classico area of the Greve Valley in Italy, Castello di Verrazzano is a captivating hillside castle and winery with a rich history dating back to the 7th century. Once owned by the renowned Verrazzano family, this medieval marvel offers cellar tours, Chianti tastings, and delightful al fresco dining experiences.
A fantastic winery experience — one of our highlights in Tuscany. Beautifully perched on top of a hill, this winery offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Chianti landscape and is located just a few minutes from the charming town of Greve in Chianti. The wine tour lasted about 45 minutes and was incredibly comprehensive. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate, walking us through the vineyard, cellar, and production areas while sharing the history of the estate and their winemaking process in detail. It felt personal and authentic — not rushed or overly commercial, which we really appreciated. The experience costs around €30 per person, which is excellent value for what you get. After the tour, we enjoyed a guided tasting of four different wines, each one showcasing the unique characteristics of the estate’s production. The wines were fantastic. The setting was relaxed and welcoming, with lovely staff who made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. We didn’t feel pressured to buy anything, but of course, we couldn’t resist taking a few bottles home. They also have restaurant there. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the heart of Chianti’s wine culture in an intimate, high-quality setting.

This was an amazing tour and total experience! Our tour guide, representative, wine educator, etc was excellent! Her knowledge of the property, the amazing history, and wine was so very nicely portrayed in her excellent tour. The history here is stunning too. Wines were so very good that we bought a case to be shipped back home, to the states. Check on buying wine, as they price it with shipping. The property is gorgeous and historic! Highly recommend this particular winery to visit and tour when visiting the area!

A must go. Breathtaking views, fabulous tour and amazing food/wine. There’s lots of rich history here and the tour is a great way to experience the entire area. They also farm their own fresh honey, oil, and balsamic vinegar. One of our favorite experiences in Italy so far!

We did the wine tasting and tour with my friends. I really enjoyed the tour. It was well explained by the guide (I don’t remember her name, but she was very lovely and made it engaging and interesting). The castle has a nice history and offers great views. The tasting part was also very enjoyable. I recommend it!

Breathtaking location, with great history, food and wine. Lorenzo (tour guide) was wonderful. We did the Sunday lunch tour - very generous portions and good vegetarian options.

We had an unforgettable experience at this beautiful winery. The wine tasting was exceptional – a perfect introduction to their carefully crafted wines, each with its own story and depth. We also had the chance to tour the estate and the wine cellar, which gave us a real sense of the passion and tradition behind every bottle. To top it all off, we ordered a platter with local products from their own farm – everything was fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. From the views to the flavors, everything was just… bellissima. Truly a highlight of our time in Tuscany – highly recommended!

Visit Azienda Agricola Montefioralle Winery, a small family-owned winery located in the medieval village of Montefioralle in the Chianti region. This charming winery produces only 10,000 bottles of wine annually, making it one of the smallest Chianti classico producers.
my friend and I ended up at this winery by chance while walking in the nearby town and I am so pleased we did. It technically wasn’t open, but the man there gave us a whole tour and was so kind and welcoming. He was very knowledgeable about the place and gave us all the information. We had an amazing time and highly recommend this place.

We had such a lovely experience! I was on the lookout for a small, family-owned winery with quaint, local charm and a commitment to quality and sustainability. Montefioralle did not disappoint! The drive up to the winery is a stunning adventure in and of itself. Definitely pay close attention to the directions they provide — super helpful! We arrived and had a few moments to take in the spectacular view just as a rainstorm was rolling in. The rain, thunder, and lightning made the experience even more magical! Manila was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful, and the wines were delightful (even for young wines!). Looking forward to opening our bottles in a few years after they’ve grown up a bit more.

Alessia gave us a wonderful experience as she shared the history and wine process to us. As it is a family business, she shared her passion for this winery that her grandfather started many years ago. The wine tasting was very educational. We enjoyed our light lunch on-site. Nearby is a great spot for dining and shopping, a beautiful, quaint village nestled in the hills of the Chianti area of Tuscany.

Absolutely fabulous local winery - My family and I throughly enjoyed an intimate tour of the winery and tasting of the wines. Alessia was very knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into the history of both the winery and Chianti wines. One of the highlights of our trip!

This is a lovely family owned and operated vineyard. Their Chianti was the best Chianti we had while our stay in Italy. This is a small quaint vineyard with a sweet little history. The food provided with the wine was very nice as well as the view of Montefioralle. It was worth taking a little extra time to visit to little village to us. I would recommend parking in the parking provided by the vineyard and walk to the village from the parking lot as there is limited parking in the village. We found a cafe open and enjoyed splitting a delicious panni while taking in the quaintness of the village. We enjoyed the experience.

I can fully recommend the wine tasting. We had a small tour through the cellar. Very interesting and well explained. Then we tried 4 wines with some food. For the price of the tour the value was very good with sufficient wine to test in our glasses. Not all of the wine was fully our taste. But 2 of them met our taste very well, so we bought some of them. Overall a nice experience with great views from the terrace.

Valentines 💘 surprise to start the day at a very famous pottery store and factory outside of Firenze. Private tour of the La Galleria Nuove Forme d'Arte factory where pieces are all hand made for Nieman Marcus, Pottery Barn and William Sonoma, then ended with a lesson on how to make a bowl 😊 Matteo and his family have run this company for generations and highly recommend a visit when you are next in the area. An amazing experience, “decorating the world 🌎 one piece at a time”
Simon T — Google review
I can’t even begin to explain how much my husband and I loved this experience. From the moment we walked through the door, Matteo welcomed us with open arms, enthusiasm, and the biggest smile! We learned about the pottery making process and met the artists, who were also very excited to show us what they do. Alberto (gentleman pictured in red), stopped what he was doing to show us the smoothing process and how different handles were made. He also helped us make some braided handles and applied them to a little vase which we got to add to our purchase order and are so grateful for. Matteo’s dad, Salvatore, was excited to help us make some bowls and he demonstrated great patience with me as I wasn’t a natural pottery maker (lol). And Matteo’s mom was a beautiful ray of sunshine as well! Mid-way through the experience we grabbed an espresso with Matteo and after everything, we went back to the cafe and enjoyed a pastry together. The experience in the small, beautiful town of Montelupo was intimate and truly was my favorite. It gives you a better understanding and a bigger appreciation for the pottery you see around you. We made great friends along the way. I can’t wait to receive our pieces in a few months and I dream of the opportunity to go back! Would 1000% recommend booking this unforgettable experience!!

In all of Italy this has been are most favorite experience! The moment we met Matteo, he made us feel like family. The short drive to the workshop was beautiful and the workshop was the most unique experience! Five generations of master potters have built a business that should be shared with the world! This is a MUST do! We will definitely be back!

I recently attended a ceramics excursion in Montelupo, Italy. It was one of the best experiences I had on a vacation ever! It was made so well not merely by the unique and hands on experience of making some amazing pottery but by the wonderful host. Matteo and his family were so welcoming, kind, and passionate about their craft. The tour began with me taking a quick train from Florence. I was welcomed at the shop by Matteo who was incredibly friendly and passionate about the excursion. He welcomed me into the store with his mother present who was so friendly. We proceeded to the local pottery factory and Matteo gave me a fun and in-depth tour of the facility and how it operates. I met some of the potters and was able to watch them work; by hand on wonderful ceramic pieces. I also saw the gallery area of the factory where they displayed so many wonderful crafted and painted pieces for their current collection. This on its own was amazing and it was only half of the experience. From there we returned to the store and I was able to work with Matteo's father who had decades of experience as a potter. He was helpful and skilled in how he was able to help me work on a pottery wheel and create some pieces. I had never done this before but the product came out great. Matteo was fun, friendly ,and personal in how he presented all of the information and welcomed me to the town. I also ran into him in the city the following day and he had the most wonderful hello for me while he traveled with his friends. Great guy! If you are visiting Italy and you are looking for something that is a bit more special (although the museums in Florence are very special already), a bit more hands on, and want to meet wonderful people I would strongly recommend you book a ceramics making experience with Matteo and his family at La galleria Nuove Forme d' Arte.

Owned by the absolutely best people and family. Matteo (the unofficial Mayor of Tuscan ceramics) is a passionate human who really cares about his community. He’s knowledgeable and thoughtful, and the coolest person to be around! His Dad (Salvatore) is a master ceramicist, Betty (Mom) is such a gracious and kind host, and Marco is so kind! Visit this shop if you have a chance and, even better, look up the ceramics experience they offer (Trip Advisor/Viator) for a truly unforgettable experience!

What an incredible experience! La Galleria Montelupo Ceramic’s class exceeded all expectations. You quickly learn that this is not just a “tour” or “pottery class” but a homecoming of sorts. You are greeted by and treated like family from start to finish. Along the way you quickly discover the legacy that is La Galleria and the kind, hand-working individuals who are part of this business’ artisan community. No doubt you’ll recognize their high quality products but what you’ll remember is the people. Thank you for making a forever memory!
Leah A — Google review
Matteo has put together a wonderful and intimate experience with ceramics here in Montelupo. From first meeting him, you are greeted with a giant smile and tons of excitement. Shortly after, you arrive at the production facility where the family’s projects are worked on. Matteo thoroughly walks through every individual process of the production pipeline, and explains how each piece is important in building the full work. Finally, the experience is capped off with a personal instruction from his father on the wheel. You get to directly learn 1:1 with a master who’s been working on the wheel for 50+ years. For any ceramic enthusiast or ceramicist, this is a must see experience while near Florence.
Thinh V — Google review
When I told my partner that I want to visit the factory of La Galleria in Montelupo, at first he said this experience is too expensive. I managed to persuade him and honestly, it was for the best. This afternoon was the highlight of our tuscany holiday, it started with Matteo being very acommodating in the booking process and being so welcoming at the shop. You really see how proud he is of his city and the family business. To see a traditional tuscan ceramics factory and getting to know the family was very unique. At the end of the tour Matteo's father Salvatore showed us his technique of centering the clay and helped us to build our own bowl on the wheel. After about three month the finished glazed pieces arrived per post and now we have the best souvenirs of our italy trip possible. I strongly recommend a visit, because the memory of this experience is completely worth the price.

Nestled in the Radda territory, Castello di Volpaia stands out with its well-preserved wide circle of walls, towers, and a largely intact keep. While other castles in the area have either crumbled or been repurposed into villas or farmhouses, Volpaia remains a testament to medieval architecture. The village thrives on wine production, showcasing innovative methods such as using wine-ducts for gravity-flow winemaking during harvest time.
We spent 10 days in Italy and Volpaia was by far our favorite place. Unfortunately our flight was delayed which meant we got to Volpaia much later than expected. Lorenzo kindly waited and warmly greeted us, showing us to our rooms and making us feel welcomed. He also arranged for the restaurant to remain open later than usual to feed our hungry family of four. This kind of hospitality was what we consistently found over our four day stay. The winery tour and tasting was fantastic, enthusiastically led by Fabio who was both passionate and enthusiastic about Volpaia wines. Our accommodations were comfortable. The views were astounding. The peace and quiet left us relaxed and content. It was beautiful medieval village - spectacular in every way. Everywhere we turned there were friendly people warmly greeting us with a friendly smile. We were made to feel like their most important guests at all times. Such a charming place. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about our experience. It was exceptional in every way. We are already planning a return visit. Thank you Volpaia for making our stay a lifetime memory for our family.

Absolutely amazing. I wish I spent more time here as everything was terrific. We stopped for a wine tasting and tour. The wine as excellent and so was the olio. Super rustic and charming. I would love to stay in the villas next time but if you are on a wine tour you need to stop here at a minimum. So glad my local store carries their wine!!

We called to check the day’s availability in terms of tours. Of course all was fully booked but they were happy to host us for a tasting which was superb. The winery sits on a beautiful location on top of a hill, surrounded by what’s seems like a small village. Nice perk is that after the tasting we were able to buy the wines at a discount, of which some are exclusively available at the winery itself.

Staying at Castello di Volpaia felt like stepping into a Tuscan postcard. Nestled among vineyards and olive groves, it offers breathtaking scenic views in every direction, the kind that make you stop and just take it all in. You’re literally staying inside a historic winery, surrounded by charm, tranquility, and authenticity. The rooms are spotlessly clean, quiet, and tastefully decorated to match the rustic elegance of the village. This is the kind of place where time slows down, where you can wander the cobblestone paths, taste incredible local wines, and enjoy the peaceful countryside. One important tip: you definitely need a car to get here and to explore the surrounding Chianti region comfortably. But the drive is part of the experience, winding roads with panoramic views at every turn.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, setting, restaurants and bars. With lush surroundings and a homely family atmosphere of staff, the location was just perfect. Views from the back of the bedroom balcony were unbelievable. We had a fantastic meal in Osteria, definitely recommend the duck pasta. Bar ucci was also amazing, staff so welcoming and great prices. We did the wine tour and tasting, such a lovely experience and wonderful wine. Could not recommend more, can't wait to return.

A magical stay in a medieval village. Castello Di Volpaia is contained inside a medieval village of original restored stone buildings, among which the various operations of wine production and the “hotel” business are housed. From the moment we arrived we could tell this was a special place. Walking the streets feels like going back in time, surrounded by authentic Tuscan history. Everyone we met was warm, friendly, helpful, and patient. The room was comfortable and well appointed and the food options are impressive for someplace off the beaten path. It was an excellent value for the money too. There are SO many options in Tuscany, it's tough to know what you're going to get. We lucked out with Castello di Volpaia. If you’re looking for a unique, authentic, quiet, elegant, and beautiful stay in the Chianti region, look no further! We were met warmly upon arrival by Lorenzo, who escorted us to our room and showed us where everything was. Lorenzo made himself available to us via WhatsApp throughout our stay, patiently answering our questions. He helped us find restaurants, amenities like grocery stores and other attractions in nearby towns. He even showed us the best spot to watch the sunset (which was, of course, magical). Much of the village of Volpaia has been taken over by the winery, but there are many guest rooms and suites, several restaurants, a wine shop, and a few private homes. The grounds are stunning and well kept, and even though there is a lot of winery work happening, it never interfered with our enjoyment - it actually added to it. Our favorite restaurant on property was “Bar-Ucci”, a casual place with elevated Tuscan comfort fare, delicious cocktails, decadent homemade desserts, and of course, fabulous wines, all at reasonable prices. The staff there were all friendly and helpful, especially Lucreccia (unsure of the spelling). She provided great service and spot-on recommendations. We ate there every day, and she always remembered us and took good care of us. The included breakfast spread is impressive as well. It’s presented buffet style inside one of the stone buildings on property and run by two lovely, friendly and helpful people who greeted us warmly every morning and remembered what we liked. There were SO many breakfast options! MANY fresh sweet and savory pastries, assorted meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, nuts, cereals, yogurt, juices, and even eggs and bacon to order. They made excellent cappuccino and Americano coffee as well. When we asked what brand of coffee they used, they went out of their way to find out for us. We also took the winery tour with Fabio, our fabulous guide. He showed us every step of the wine operations, from the vineyard to the aging process. Fabio’s knowledge was impressive, he explained everything carefully and fielded our many questions patiently and graciously. We learned a lot. The village of Volpaia is only a few minutes drive from the town of Radda, where you can find a grocery store, more restaurants, shopping, gas stations, etc. There are also several other nearby towns and attractions, making it a good hub for your Chianti Region adventures, as long as you have a car. On this trip we visited many places, like Rome, Florence, and the Amalfi coast. Our visit to Castello di Volpaia was our favorite. The Chianti region is spectacularly beautiful, and the charming rustic stone village of Volpaia was a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. We will be back as soon as we are able! Thank you to the all the staff at Castello di Volpaia and Bar-Ucci for helping to make our vacation a special one.

A Gem in Chianti: Unforgettable Wine Tour at Castello Volpaia A visit to Castello Volpaia offers an enchanting journey through history, innovation, and exceptional wine, leaving a lasting impression with its stunning views and the captivating charm of its ancient stones. Our recent wine tour of the facilities was a highlight of our time in Tuscany. The experience was made all the more memorable by our tour guide, Francesco. A young man whose passion for wine and deep knowledge of the craft were evident in every explanation, Francesco brought the story of Volpaia to life. He expertly guided us through the beautiful old castle, revealing the truly amazing and ingeniously hidden wine technology seamlessly integrated within its historic walls. It was fascinating to see how centuries-old architecture houses a state-of-the-art winemaking operation. The castle itself is a marvel, and the panoramic views from its vantage point are simply breathtaking, offering a picturesque backdrop to an already impressive tour. The combination of the ancient setting, the innovative approach to winemaking, and Francesco's engaging guidance made for an unparalleled experience. For anyone visiting the Chianti region, a wine tour at Castello Volpaia comes highly recommended. It’s a perfect blend of Tuscan beauty, winemaking excellence, and passionate storytelling.

This hotel is in a small, quiet village with just a few places to eat nearby — perfect for relaxing. The rooms were spotless, with lovely views and excellent sheets. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was varied and really good, and having free parking made everything even easier. Highly recommended!

Accademia Del Buon Gusto Sas Di Anna Sterbakova is a gem for wine enthusiasts visiting Italy. Guests rave about their experiences with Stefano, who leads captivating wine tastings that last over 90 minutes and feature more than 20 different wines. His passion for wine shines through as he shares heartfelt stories and engages with visitors from diverse backgrounds, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie.
Stefano’s wines are all from not-more-than 30km from his shop. We tasted 22 wines and the best thing is that he doesn’t even charge for this. Of course it’s a cool idea because we walked away with 12 bottles of wine and 4 bottles of chocolate truffle. Amazing and humble host and I wish him all the best in life!

Stefano was the best!! His stories made the experience unique, he’s hilarious, super generous with the number of tastings he offers, and is also a baby whisperer 😊 The town is very cute too, and the drive to and from the town are epic in terms of scenery. You can’t miss this place!

Stefano’s shop is full of fantastic wine from small, local producers in this particular part of Chianti, and he is an engaging host. We tried about 20 or so wines and all were excellent. So much so that we bought six bottles and had them shipped back to the UK. They arrived safe and secure only a week or so later. Looking forward to drinking them soon.

This was an absolute highlight of my Italy trip with friends. Stefano was an incredible host and made the vine tasting a great experience. We spent several hours there and heard lots of entertaining stories. Absolute recommendation that you visit the academy of good taste!

We had a great evening with Stefano, we were recommended him by our Hotel and were expecting a quiet evening drink but instead walked into an event of story telling, wine tasting and a lot of laughter. Stefano does an amazing job of interacting with all the guests and bringing everyone together despite all the different backgrounds. Highly recommend when in Chianti region. Set aside 2+ hours

Finding this place was a true highlight of our 2 weeks in Italy! Stefano took us through a journey of more than 20 wines, filled us with stories of love and life, as we smelled, tasted, smiled, and laughed for over 90 minutes. He spoke to people in our group from Denmark, Brazil, Germany, and Spain (how many languages does he speak and understand?) Above all, his love for people and wine rang through his many stories and interactions. We visited with him more than once and took our group of friends there after our first visit. Every one loved the experience, not to be forgotten soon. Don't miss if you are in or near Panzano!

SO FUN! This is a must do experience in Tuscany! Taste fab wines while Stefano entertains with hilarious antics. We met lovely people doing the wine tasting with us. Reasonable priced and really high quality wines too :) had a blast.

I have visited Stefano 3 times over the past 6 years. I‘ve taken family & friends to experience his beautiful web of wine, food & wonderful stories. There is no one like Stefano. My last trip was in July 2019 & I was so surprised he remembered me exactly - “My friend from Dallas”. I could fill this page with amazing stories from my “lessons” with him over the years - he is just as all the other reviews captured - magical. Sadly, I discovered in Feb 2020 that Stefano had suddenly passed away. If you know Stefano, he wasn’t much of a social media guy - much less a website - and I see this google listing still shows the Accademia as being open. But sadly, it has closed. Rest In Peace my dear friend. I do hope there is someone who will carry on his legacy.

Good park to have a pic-nic below the trees even with hot weather, butc Not seen any table for pic-nic, nor water spring, nor toilets. The parking is free but its ground makes a lot of dust turning a grey color car in white at the end...

It's the biggest and nicest park of Empoli. And it indeed is nice, but it could (and should!) be nicer. People should be more respectful of public property, for sure. But at the same time, cleanliness and safety and integrity of kid's areas should be taken more seriously by local administration!

A place to chill out and play on the grass with friends....or ducks! Also there are many trees under which you can stay to get away from the summer's sun. Careful, the lake in the center of the park is NOT a good place to swim into.

Castello Monterinaldi - Magazzino is a captivating destination located in the picturesque Chianti Classico region, perched on a hill that resembles a turtle shell. This historic site has roots dating back to 1010 AD, attributed to Count Gottifredo of Lombard descent. Over the centuries, it has witnessed significant events, including medieval battles and World War II, which have shaped its structure and surroundings.

The environment is spacious and well furnished, warm, welcoming and with a notable play area which allowed the children not to get bored between the adults' legs. The owner is a truly exquisite person and extremely available to satisfy every need. Already a couple of pastry chefs have outdone themselves in the presentation of a cake that is spectacular in appearance and flavour. I highly recommend for a tea with friends, a breakfast or a party. (Original) Ho festeggiato da loro i 100 anni della mia mamma. Una quarantina di persone con 6 bimbi. (Translated by Google) We celebrated a birthday in the outdoor area. The place is also nice and the cake is good but the first package includes not enough stuff for 30/35 people... they assured us that if something was missing they could add it on the spot but when we went to ask they told us no... we asked for extra jugs of coke which we paid extra (€5 per medium-small jug) and the sales assistant turned her nose up at bringing it to us because it wasn't included in the package. We felt abandoned... every three hours I had to go and ask for water, napkins or glasses which ran out and they stayed inside in the kitchen leaving even the pastry counter empty so much so that a customer asked me who could serve her since there was no one inside. We asked if it was possible to open the internal area with the balls for the children to play but they told us no because otherwise they would then have to clean it. The sales assistant with the shaved hair was annoyed and even complained while she was cutting the cake, saying that she hates puff pastry... very nice and tasty cake except that they brought it in to cut it and they dismantled it completely by removing the layer on top which depicted a character and which the children asked me to eat. You may or may not like the sugar wafer but don't throw it away without asking me, along with my candle which I would have taken back to keep as a souvenir as I have all the previous ones. My guests complained mostly about this rude attitude of the sales assistant and t Everyone told me I was lucky that some weren't able to come because there was no savory food...for the same high price, I recommend other places in the area, equipped for birthdays and with a more assorted buffet package.

Camper Parking Area - Le Terme - Rapolano Terme is a spacious facility located conveniently next to the Terme. It offers plenty of parking spaces, some of which are near trees providing shade and grass. While booking requests may not always be responded to, there are usually enough spaces available unless it's peak season. The noise from trains and roads mentioned in other reviews was not found to be particularly bothersome.
Perfect to stop over and take a bath in terme. There is electricity available and the toilets as well. The price is 10 eur for 12h and 15 eur for 24h. Perfect also as cycling or walking starting point. Lots of marked trails in the area.

Very large facility with heaps of spaces, location is perfect if going to Terme next door. Quite a few spaces can park near trees so get some shade / bit of grass (rest of area is hard surface). With so many spaces you shouldnt need to book unless peak season which is just as well since my booking requests were not responded to. Other reviews mentioned train and road noise but didnt find them that bad. Has all the standard facilities. You need 1 Euro coins for showers, washing machine, dryer and hot water for dishes so stock up. Reception very friendly but only open 9 to 12, if you arrive outside those hours just drive up to barrier and get a token from machine, and sort it out next morning. Bar was closed for unknown reasons both days we were there but 5-10 min walk to nearest bakery

The Saltalbero Adventure Park is an addictive place for kids aged 7 and 4. The adventure begins with a brief stroll where one can spot rabbits hopping around. The park staff provides instructions on using the safety harness for those opting for a genuine adventure, while others can freely explore the wilderness. Initially scared, both children overcame their fears after completing the introductory level and became hooked on the experience.

The Tower of Federico II in San Miniato is a historic site with millennia of history. It overlooks the valley and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. The tower, which was destroyed during World War II and later rebuilt, stands alongside ancient places like the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Genesio with the Matilde Tower. While some visitors find the tower itself unremarkable, many appreciate its historical significance and enjoy climbing to the top for breathtaking panoramic views.
If you are in San Miniato, you can easily cl8mb the torrent. Great views on a clear day from Florence to Volterra.

This place is amazing, it oversees the whole plain around the hill. The tower itself was surely great, but unfortunately the German army destroyed it during World War II. In 1958, it was rebuilt like it was before.

They had some nice reading about the history of the San Miniato. Cute downtown with some nice bars and restaurants. Hot in July, the weather has been consistently 85-95 each day throughout Italy.

Tower is meh, but the views are stunning!!! A bit of a hike to get up but nothing too major! It took us about 10 minutes from the town center. You can see for miles and miles! What a great view! I was surprised to find hardly anyone up there. Tuscany is truly so beautiful, and this vantage point was one of the best views we witnessed!

Specialty Museums
In the charming town of Certaldo, the Palazzo Pretorio stands as a symbol of political power. Situated on Via Boccaccio, it is accompanied by the church and the Logge del Mercato, once a bustling trading spot. The area that now appears as squares used to be simple vegetable gardens in the past. Visitors can explore this medieval gem and admire its frescoes and dungeon inside the main building.
The most preserved pre-medieval castle I have ever seen. Even the frescos are 75% original. Be sure to go up to the bell-tower from the little garden, for amazing views! Located on top of a hill in Alto Certaldo, like all of the old cities in Italy. Same garden has paths to the church and the toilets. If you look to the left side of the castle, you will see San Gimignano in the distance! Be sure to buy the combination ticket for the three different properties they offer you, is there all worth seeing, and make sure you don't miss the dungeons in the cloister and the Castle.
Angella R — Google review
Well worth visiting, so much to see here, for 5€ each you get access to this and 2 other museums. There's plenty of rooms too visit in, all with information, plus you can go up to the top of the clock tower and get great views of Certaldo Alto. Not busy at all when we visited on a weekday morning.
Jamie P — Google review
This is the highlight of the medieval town. You can enter the main building to see frescoes and the dungeon. Exit through the back to visit an old church. The best part is the climb to the top of the bell tower, which you access from the garden next to the church. At the top you get some fantastic views of the old town and surrounding countryside. You have to pay for at least 2 museums, although the cost is only €4 per person. The bonus was a visit to the house down the main street, with another tower, which has good views as well
Dan W — Google review

Piazza del Campo, also known as 'Il Campo', is a medieval square in Siena that has been the city's social center since the 12th century. The paving of the square is divided into nine sectors representing the ruling Consiglio dei Nove. It is a popular gathering place for locals and visitors, with cafes around its perimeter offering great spots for coffee and aperitivi.
A truly beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere. Piazza del Campo is the heart of Siena – a unique medieval square that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Stunning architecture, plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can sit and soak it all in. The best time to visit is in the evening, when the square comes alive and is beautifully lit. Definitely one of the most charming squares in Europe.

Piazza del Campo is one of the most stunning and unique squares in all of Italy truly the heart and soul of Siena. The moment you step into the piazza, you’re surrounded by incredible medieval architecture, warm terracotta colors, and a sense of history that feels alive in every corner. The square’s distinctive shell shape makes it unlike any other in the world, and it’s beautifully designed to draw your eyes toward the majestic Palazzo Pubblico and its famous Torre del Mangia. It’s a wonderful place to sit, relax, and soak in the authentic Tuscan atmosphere. You can enjoy a coffee, gelato, or a glass of wine at one of the many cafés and restaurants that line the square, while watching people go by or admiring the view. During sunset, the light gives the buildings a golden glow that’s absolutely magical. Piazza del Campo is also famous for hosting the Palio di Siena, the traditional horse race that takes place twice a year an event full of excitement, tradition, and passion that truly represents the spirit of the city. Whether you visit for the history, the architecture, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere, Piazza del Campo is a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s one of those rare spots where time seems to slow down, allowing you to experience the true beauty and charm of Siena.

A visit to Siena isn't complete without seeing Piazza del Campo. This enormous piazza sits at the center of the town and is lined with fantastic bars and restaurants. It's common to see people relaxing in the square, enjoying a moment to read or reflect. We grabbed some happy hour drinks and spent our time watching the mix of tourists and locals pass through.

What a place, this must be one of the best original urban squares ever. A photo taken a 100 years ago would probably look very much the same. Siena is such a beautiful town, if you are in Tuscany go and see for yourself. Love it.

We had a great day in Siena; you need a few hours walking through the alleys to see how beautiful the city is. Weekdays are definitely quieter than weekends. If you plan to visit Siena, try to do it between Monday and Thursday.
Clovis C — Google review
A very visually and spatially stunning place to visit. The color of the buildings around the piazza and the floor really set the scene of the place. It was rich and strong. A bit crowded with a lot of people sitting around and some people would sell you stuffs. Not the safest place you can sit back and relax. It was fairly safe and lovely place to visit.

Sights & Landmarks
Siena Cathedral, also known as the Duomo, is a 13th-century marvel renowned for its striking facade with symbolic black and white marble stripes. It stands as the main place of worship in Siena and dominates the city's skyline alongside the Torre del Mangia. The cathedral has a rich history, originally built to replace a church dedicated to Mary on a site that was once a temple for the worship of Minerva.
A wonderful example of religious expression and indulgence. Stories on the walls floors and ceilings with records of cardinals pope's and others. Puts II and III lived in a prosperous time and rewarded each other with a designated library. Wonderful construction and artworks. The floor which is usually covered, was bare for all to see.

Siena Cathedral is one of the most breathtaking religious sites in Italy - a true gem of Gothic architecture and medieval artistry. From the moment you arrive, the striped marble façade and intricate sculptures command attention, blending elegance with grandeur. Inside, the cathedral is a treasure trove of art and history. You’ll find works by Michelangelo, Donatello, and the stunning pulpit by Nicola Pisano, each piece telling a story of devotion and craftsmanship. The Piccolomini Library, with its vibrant Renaissance frescoes, is a must-see highlight. If you're up for it, the Gate of Heaven tour lets you walk above the nave and enjoy panoramic views of the cathedral’s interior - an unforgettable experience. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, the Duomo was originally intended to be even larger, but plans were halted by the Black Death in 1348. What remains is a powerful symbol of Siena’s ambition and artistic legacy. Whether you're an art lover, history enthusiast, or simply a curious traveler, Siena Cathedral is a must-visit. Allow at least a couple of hours to take it all in - you won’t regret it.

A splendid cathedral, richly decorated inside. We hadn't bought tickets online, but lined up outside to buy tickets. The view of the cathedral from the square outside is fantastic. But what set it apart for us was the inside. The floors are covered in inlaid marble (I believe some of it is usually covered, but it wasn't when we were there), and there are many other fantastic pieces of art. Don't miss the small library to the side, also fantastic. Afterwards we spent some time in the gift shop - it is pretty good.

A beautiful cathedral with beautiful artwork. It was reasonably old and had a bit of history to it as well. Tickets to see the cathedral was roughly 5 euros, but even the most expensive ticket to the museum, cathedral, and baptistry was the price of admission of a church in Florence, and was definitely reasonably priced. The biggest thing is that if you come from the town square, you will see the baptistry first, which is NOT where the ticket office or the cathedral is, and you need to climb either the stairs or get to the cathedral's square. Overall, was definitely worth seeing and was worth the day trip I took from Florence to see it.

A fabulous experience! Make sure though, that if you’re booking tickets in advance you are doing it for the one on SIENA, not FIRENZE. They look similar, but are in fact different. We got to go into the cathedral, museum (with the panoramic view), crypt, and baptistery. All very beautiful.

You look at this cathedral and the details of its construction and you wonder, how did they do this 800 years ago? (the cathedral was built in 1215). You definitely have to visit this cathedral. The entrance fee is €8 per person, but it's well worth it. The interior of this cathedral is something unimaginable.

Really just to say that I agree with the great majority of reviewers: Siena Cathedral is absolutely worth visiting. It looks great from the outside, perched on its hill, but the interior is even more impressive, with black and white stripes throughout. The ticket queue was quite long, so if you know ahead of time when you will be going it would make sense to book ahead.

Nestled in the picturesque hills of Tuscany, Fattoria Il Piano stands out as a unique vineyard renowned for its production of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, one of Italy's finest white wines. Visitors are often greeted by Claudia, whose warm hospitality and personal touch make every guest feel like part of the family. The property boasts beautiful gardens, a charming chapel, and an inviting wine cellar that adds to the overall experience.
I visited this winery on a whime during a rainy day in Tuscany. It was the perfect way to spend indoors, learning about the family history and drinking wine. Claudia and Andrea were super informative whilst showing us their property and during the wine and olive oil tasting. The tasting was about 3 hours. The pours were quit generous as well! Would recommend.

We came to taste some wine, and ended up having a great time. Great family that open their house with plenty of love for people and for their history, food and culture. A must!

The best experience we had in Tuscany!!! Claudia is amazing!! So happy and warm. The tour was lovely and interesting in the gorgeous property with the panoramic view, and after that the wine tasting was way beyond our expectations! we loved the wonderful hospitality, so generous, the homemade snacks were like a small meal and the olive oil was the best we ever had, and of course- the wine was great. We came for a wine tasting and left with a warm heart and a full experience. It made me want to stay there forever! I more than recommend - you can’t miss that!!!
