Fattoria San Michele a Torri Societa’ Agricola is nestled in the picturesque Val di Pesa hills, just a stone's throw from Florence. This charming village, named after its medieval castle dating back to 1126, offers visitors an authentic taste of Tuscany. The warm hospitality of Francesca truly enhances the experience; her enthusiasm for Chianti and wine culture shines through as she guides guests on an engaging tour filled with delightful anecdotes.
We had a lovely experience at this stop on our wine tour. Our host was kind and personable as she took us through their wine making process and tasting session. Each pour was generous and a great example of the differences between the wines in the region.
Cheryl M — Google review
My brother and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The English tour and tasting was perfect and all of their products lovely! So much so that we ended up buying Wine, Olive Oil and Honey to be shipped back home, at a very affordable shipping rate, might I add. The fact that all of their products were organic threw the experience over the top. The meats, cheeses, oils and wines, rightfully should be a great source of pride for the owner and staff of San Michele. As a Viticulturalist and Sustainable Farmer, I can definitely conclude everything here is top notch and done with passion for service and quality. We will be returning!
Will S — Google review
I visited this winery with a tour group. The host is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She gives a very detailed description of their processing and history, along with an educational tasting that included phenomenal cured meats and cheeses made right at their location. The facility is very clean and well organized. The wines are high quality and priced very reasonable. It was an awesome experience all around. I bought a full case to be shipped home.
Fearless 1 — Google review
Had a winery tour here and we loved it! So interesting to learn about the process and see the scenes of all the acreage! We ordered wine and olive oil to ship back home!
Heather S — Google review
I had an excellent wine tasting and quality olive oil tasting experience at this place. The wine tasting, guided by a sommelier, added more depth to the overall experience. One feedback during my visit- The workers were cleaning the area near the restroom with water but failed to put up any safety sign. I almost tripped over and hit the ground - wines from the tanks all over my legs 😞 But I had an amazing time exploring the flavors of Tuscan wines and the richness of their olive oils. Definitely a memorable experience!
Sue K — Google review
I had a Interesting experience. Started with a warm and welcoming tour of the vineyard tasting the wine and olive oil. I decided to order some wines to be shipped home. However the wine must have got to me and I filled out the paperwork wrong. Luckily the through a series of emails the situation was resolved through a 5 star customer service.
Sam T — Google review
Nice place. Friendly staff. The wine tasting was average. I though the pours where really small… maybe one ounce. And we had 3 of them for 15 euro. So kind of a bit pricey for what you get. They did include some nice meats but they were super paper thin cuts. It is an enjoyable experience and they do have excellent olive oil.
Paul G — Google review
Visited today to get some of Fattoria San Michele's sensational olive oils and wines. Another fantastic visit having previously visited many years ago. A great option within close proximity to Florence. Great products, great service, in stunning surroundings, highly recommended!

Outlet Barberino

Outlet mall
Shopping
Outlet Barberino, located just north of Florence, is a designer outlet store that resembles a Tuscan village. It features a variety of top brands such as Adidas, Levis, Dolce & Gabbana, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger. While the discounts may not be as steep as in other outlets, it offers a convenient and enjoyable stopover for fashion enthusiasts on long road trips. The outlet also provides diverse food options and seating areas to relax in the shade.
Pleasantly surprised to visit this place during our stints to watch the car races in the Mugello circuit. Went just to pass time but ended up filling the bags with super discounted items. The Spada Roma had wonderful discounts in cappotto and jackets. Lucky that I visited during this time of the year! Will surely get back since it’s just 3 hours drive from Milan
Maheshwaran J — Google review
I saw about 60 people, maybe as it was so hot? Prices are not worth the detour. Clean and secure though, some nice eateries
Paul S — Google review
We have been here hoping to find some gems. Although there are a lot of shops, there were few clothes, at least for women. Or the collections at this moment in time were awful…I am not sure. And the discounts, in some shops it did not feel like outlet prices. Anyway, not worth the 50 min trip.
Alexandra N — Google review
No better place for a Sunday after 5 PM! The outlet near Florence is the perfect spot to spend a relaxed Sunday evening. After 5 PM, the crowds thin out, making it ideal for browsing top designer stores without stress.
R R — Google review
It’s an okay outlet — nothing special. On the plus side, there’s a huge parking area with over ten charging spots for electric cars, which is really convenient. But despite the number of stores, the selection is underwhelming, and prices are exactly the same as in downtown Bologna. Honestly, there’s no real reason to come here just for shopping. You’ll find the same brands and deals in the city, with a much better atmosphere. Not worth a dedicated trip.
Andrew Z — Google review
Very nice outlet, you can walk around and enjoy lot of italian and worldwide brands, prices are good. Lot of stores for kids clothes. There are coffee shop to rest and enjoy drink.
Saed B — Google review
Wow… amazing place. Just the experience of this place is spectacular Local hotels/hosts might have discounts for this place.. ask in reception
Yousef B — Google review
Decent outlet mall just outside of Florence, has most of the larger brands you would expect. No large discounts however when we were there. Parking options are great and layout of the area is well arranged. Felt however a bit desolated on a rainy weekday.

Florence American Cemetery

Military cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
The Florence American Cemetery is a meticulously maintained memorial honoring the 4,392 American soldiers who rest there. These soldiers represent 39% of Fifth Army burials and were mainly casualties from the fighting after the capture of Rome in June 1944, including battles in the Apennines near the end of the war. The cemetery's serene beauty and historical significance are a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by these fallen heroes. The site also features a memorial wall for those Missing In Action.
The place was opened only at 9:00am, and well maintained by ex military soldiers. Very clean toilets that are well maintained. Gorgeous view of the hillsides and very serene and peaceful, with almost 4,000 American soldiers who had died in WW2.
Venus L — Google review
A solemn and sad place. 4300 crosses are here for Americans who died in WW II. The average age of these individuals is 19 years. A terribly costly sacrifice that I'm afraid is now little remembered or appreciated.
Phil — Google review
Stunning tribute to the US soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Stopped by to pay tribute to my Great Uncle 1LT Charles Mayberry.
Scott M — Google review
We saw this place from the road. Only a few cars can park outside and ut is free to park and visit the place. The cemetery part is well-maintained. However, to the most beautiful parts like nature or off-track fields are forbidden to even look at, and rude people remind you to that harshly, there is no kindness or hospitality. It is truly a soldier's place, you are watched and if there is something you would enjoy, you can't do it. But we saw an otter when we crossed the water on the bridge, he was super nice and welcoming!
MacQuillan T — Google review
Stopped here for a short reflection. It was a beautiful cemetery. The monuments were very beautiful and moving. I highly recommend stopping. There is also a free restroom near the monument which is clean and well maintained.
Christopher W — Google review
Honor of our young man which sacrifice their life for liberation of Italy in War Word II !
Mark K — Google review
Such a beautiful cemetery and Memorial for our fallen soldiers. Blessed that I had the opportunity to visit. The grounds are stunning and so well maintained. I spent a few hours here honoring our fallen.
Michael M — Google review
Powerful and moving place to visit. A must stop. Beautiful grounds and a lot of history on WWII. Be sure to place a rock on a gravestone and thank those who sacrificed their lives. Time will not dim the glory of their deeds. We were able to arrange a nice tour overview with Rosie. Thank you!

Mugello Circuit

Car racing venue
Sights & Landmarks
Mugello Circuit is a renowned racing circuit that features a parkland track spanning over 5000m, regularly hosting thrilling car and motorcycle races. Despite experiencing a rainy day, visitors were captivated by the impressive cars and even had the opportunity to take a van ride around the track. The infrastructure was lauded as top-notch, making it an ideal location for motorcycle racing.
Despite visiting many races across Europe, I had never visited Mugello. My son & I visited the famous Mugello for the full 3 days this year. We hired a motorbike in Florence & rode to the circuit (about 40mins). The roads to the circuit were great and clearly signposted. Amazingly, we found that we could park on the circuit roads or small car parks on the circuit for free. We found a great viewing only 4mins from our parking spot! From there, we could see >80% of the circuit & there was a large tv screen close by to watch the race, replays & positions. Facilities were superb & not too expensive compared to, say, Silverstone. The atmosphere, viewing, Facilities & entrance/exit using the motorbike were great even on the main race day (Sunday). Highly recommended & we will go again.
Neil B — Google review
Great circuit, but is missing a museum and a caffè inside the circuit. With the story of this circuit is a must to have a museum.
Alex P — Google review
5EUR to look at trackday event, walk around paddock, at any of the grand stands or the green areas... It was a fiver well spent. Moto trackday, but trucks were loaded with formula classics brought for a next event - some testing - got to see older Haas car too! haha
Zilvinas R — Google review
I spent the weekend at Mugello Circuit and had an amazing time. The track itself is legendary, fast, flowing, and absolutely thrilling to ride. Organization was top from start to finish, and the track marshals were outstanding: professional, alert, and always on point. Everything felt safe, well-coordinated, and smoothly managed. If you love motorsport, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be back.
Fabio T — Google review
Mugello is possibly the best track in the world! Excellent viewing, good sight lines, ease of access, friendly staff. General Admission is all around the track excluding stand areas - see the attached image. Hospitality in the Grandstand is first class - highly recommended. Spectator spectating is also available free of charge!!! Getting to and from the track during raceday is a frustration .... but 150,000 people keep doing it, so it can only be worthwhile!!
Phil G — Google review
Amazing race track at an incredible location in the Tuscan hills. Easily accessible by car or train, top notch facilities, great viewing angles from the grandstands. Love Mugello!!
Ilko44 — Google review
A fantastic racetrack in a beautiful setting. Very well maintained, clean facilities and everything you need. Will definitely be back for more action.

An absolutely stunning motorcycle track with fans to suit. I’m English though and through but I felt I was Italian for a day.

Siena Cathedral

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Siena Cathedral, also known as the Duomo, is a 13th-century marvel renowned for its striking facade with symbolic black and white marble stripes. It stands as the main place of worship in Siena and dominates the city's skyline alongside the Torre del Mangia. The cathedral has a rich history, originally built to replace a church dedicated to Mary on a site that was once a temple for the worship of Minerva.
A wonderful example of religious expression and indulgence. Stories on the walls floors and ceilings with records of cardinals pope's and others. Puts II and III lived in a prosperous time and rewarded each other with a designated library. Wonderful construction and artworks. The floor which is usually covered, was bare for all to see.
Jamie T — Google review
Siena Cathedral is one of the most breathtaking religious sites in Italy - a true gem of Gothic architecture and medieval artistry. From the moment you arrive, the striped marble façade and intricate sculptures command attention, blending elegance with grandeur. Inside, the cathedral is a treasure trove of art and history. You’ll find works by Michelangelo, Donatello, and the stunning pulpit by Nicola Pisano, each piece telling a story of devotion and craftsmanship. The Piccolomini Library, with its vibrant Renaissance frescoes, is a must-see highlight. If you're up for it, the Gate of Heaven tour lets you walk above the nave and enjoy panoramic views of the cathedral’s interior - an unforgettable experience. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, the Duomo was originally intended to be even larger, but plans were halted by the Black Death in 1348. What remains is a powerful symbol of Siena’s ambition and artistic legacy. Whether you're an art lover, history enthusiast, or simply a curious traveler, Siena Cathedral is a must-visit. Allow at least a couple of hours to take it all in - you won’t regret it.
Annie S — Google review
A splendid cathedral, richly decorated inside. We hadn't bought tickets online, but lined up outside to buy tickets. The view of the cathedral from the square outside is fantastic. But what set it apart for us was the inside. The floors are covered in inlaid marble (I believe some of it is usually covered, but it wasn't when we were there), and there are many other fantastic pieces of art. Don't miss the small library to the side, also fantastic. Afterwards we spent some time in the gift shop - it is pretty good.
Henrik — Google review
A beautiful cathedral with beautiful artwork. It was reasonably old and had a bit of history to it as well. Tickets to see the cathedral was roughly 5 euros, but even the most expensive ticket to the museum, cathedral, and baptistry was the price of admission of a church in Florence, and was definitely reasonably priced. The biggest thing is that if you come from the town square, you will see the baptistry first, which is NOT where the ticket office or the cathedral is, and you need to climb either the stairs or get to the cathedral's square. Overall, was definitely worth seeing and was worth the day trip I took from Florence to see it.
Thomas S — Google review
A fabulous experience! Make sure though, that if you’re booking tickets in advance you are doing it for the one on SIENA, not FIRENZE. They look similar, but are in fact different. We got to go into the cathedral, museum (with the panoramic view), crypt, and baptistery. All very beautiful.
Killian C — Google review
Truly amazing and stunning piece of architecture. The white and black stripes marble gives it an even more solidified feel than many other cathedrals in Europe. We were there at late afternoon, the lighting ambience was truly amazing and setting en
Thomas L — Google review
You look at this cathedral and the details of its construction and you wonder, how did they do this 800 years ago? (the cathedral was built in 1215). You definitely have to visit this cathedral. The entrance fee is €8 per person, but it's well worth it. The interior of this cathedral is something unimaginable.
Clovis C — Google review
Really just to say that I agree with the great majority of reviewers: Siena Cathedral is absolutely worth visiting. It looks great from the outside, perched on its hill, but the interior is even more impressive, with black and white stripes throughout. The ticket queue was quite long, so if you know ahead of time when you will be going it would make sense to book ahead.

The floors are covered in inlaid marble (I believe some of it is usually covered, but it wasn't when we were there), and there are many other fantastic pieces of art. Don't miss the small library to the side, also fantastic. Afterwards we spent some time in the gift shop - it is pretty good.

You look at this cathedral and the details of its construction and you wonder, how did they do this 800 years ago? (the cathedral was built in 1215). You definitely have to visit this cathedral. The entrance fee is €8 per person, but it's well worth it. The interior of this cathedral is something unimaginable.

The paving of the square is divided into nine sectors representing the ruling Consiglio dei Nove. It is a popular gathering place for locals and visitors, with cafes around its perimeter offering great spots for coffee and aperitivi.
A truly beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere. Piazza del Campo is the heart of Siena – a unique medieval square that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Stunning architecture, plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can sit and soak it all in. The best time to visit is in the evening, when the square comes alive and is beautifully lit. Definitely one of the most charming squares in Europe.

Piazza del Campo is one of the most stunning and unique squares in all of Italy truly the heart and soul of Siena. The moment you step into the piazza, you’re surrounded by incredible medieval architecture, warm terracotta colors, and a sense of history that feels alive in every corner. The square’s distinctive shell shape makes it unlike any other in the world, and it’s beautifully designed to draw your eyes toward the majestic Palazzo Pubblico and its famous Torre del Mangia. It’s a wonderful place to sit, relax, and soak in the authentic Tuscan atmosphere. You can enjoy a coffee, gelato, or a glass of wine at one of the many cafés and restaurants that line the square, while watching people go by or admiring the view. During sunset, the light gives the buildings a golden glow that’s absolutely magical. Piazza del Campo is also famous for hosting the Palio di Siena, the traditional horse race that takes place twice a year an event full of excitement, tradition, and passion that truly represents the spirit of the city. Whether you visit for the history, the architecture, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere, Piazza del Campo is a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s one of those rare spots where time seems to slow down, allowing you to experience the true beauty and charm of Siena.

A visit to Siena isn't complete without seeing Piazza del Campo. This enormous piazza sits at the center of the town and is lined with fantastic bars and restaurants. A very visually and spatially stunning place to visit. The color of the buildings around the piazza and the floor really set the scene of the place. It was rich and strong. A bit crowded with a lot of people sitting around and some people would sell you stuffs. Not the safest place you can sit back and relax. It was fairly safe and lovely place to visit.

Fattoria di Montemaggio is a must-visit winery in Italy, where the staff's passion for producing top-quality wine is evident. The guided tour by Francesco offers an inspiring and detailed insight into the wine-making process. The blind tasting adds a fun element to the experience. Additionally, the winery produces its own beauty products using ingredients from their garden.
Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful experience here. Francesco was incredibly knowledgeable and very passionate during the wine tour and tasting. If you wish to learn more about wine and its history in toscana, this is a must visit. Wonderful scenery at the wine yard and the drive to it.

Last week we stayed at "Casa Torre" in Fattoria Montemaggio for about a week and to be honest we could not enjoy it more. We are still excited and thrilled about our visit. Right in the heart of Tuscany at about 1h drive distance from Florece and Siena. Our private stone house with 3 twin bedrooms + 3 bathrooms en-suite, roomy livingroom and large fully-equipped kitchen was just stunning, taken care down to the smallest detail. Owners really have an exquisite taste to It. On top of that we felt awestruck by the incredible views from our house's tower overlooking a Tuscan idyllic scenary and an unforgettable sunset. Furthermore, the staff (special thnx to Francesco, Hasiba and Said) was heartfelt welcoming, helpful and discreet, available at all times. They even brought to our attention that we had a flat tire and they happily volunteered to assist and eventually did fix it all up in the blink of an eye, with a smile at no extra cost!. Just an example showing that you will find in Montemaggio the never seen before. 🥰 It is also noteworthy not to be missed their enjoyable guided visit to their facilities, vineyard, wine production process and exclusive winetasting including their varied wide range of top-quality wines, grappa and olive oíl!!! What more could you want!?.. 🤩

We showed up without a reservation the first day and they were able to squeeze us in on a tour the day after. They were very accommodating and flexible in fitting us in with our limited time in Chianti. This tour was the best tour we had hands down. Francesco is as an incredible tour guide. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour so enjoyable. We learned so much about wine and proper tasting techniques. The property was beautiful and the wines were some of the best. The tasting was fun & we loved the snacks provided. He did a great job of describing what flavors paired best with which wines. We feel like we now know how to go about properly tasting wines. We loved supporting a small local business, loved the story of the woman on the bottle (go women owned). Easy, affordable and enjoyable experience overall. Can’t recommend enough! Will go back eventually!

What a wonderful experience. I have been to many wineries I'm California and just two others in Italy, but this one is not to be missed. Francesco was our guide, and his enthusiasm to all things wine and the process of is inspiring. The price of the tasting was very ideal amd the quality of the wine matches the descriptions the guide gave. Looking forward to do the blind tasting. They even produce their own beauty products with their garden ingredients.

My family of 10 did a cooking class paired with wine tasting and it was such an intimate and personal experience! Our chef and sommelier were both personable and great at explaining the steps / pairings of wine and food. We made a 3 course meal and tried about 5-10 wines in the process. My only constructive criticism is we planned for a 3.5 hour experience but this easily could have taken 5 hours. We had to skip out on the tour of the property because we had made prior reservations for another winery and we’re upset to miss out on all this winery had to offer. Be sure to plan accordingly with time! Finally - this is a female owned and managed winery (look at the bottle it displays a woman!) and I loved that they made sharing this a priority.

Castello di Volpaia

Nestled in the Radda territory, Castello di Volpaia stands out with its well-preserved wide circle of walls, towers, and a largely intact keep. While other castles in the area have either crumbled or been repurposed into villas or farmhouses, Volpaia remains a testament to medieval architecture. The village thrives on wine production, showcasing innovative methods such as using wine-ducts for gravity-flow winemaking during harvest time.
We spent 10 days in Italy and Volpaia was by far our favorite place. Unfortunately our flight was delayed which meant we got to Volpaia much later than expected. Lorenzo kindly waited and warmly greeted us, showing us to our rooms and making us feel welcomed. He also arranged for the restaurant to remain open later than usual to feed our hungry family of four. This kind of hospitality was what we consistently found over our four day stay. The winery tour and tasting was fantastic, enthusiastically led by Fabio who was both passionate and enthusiastic about Volpaia wines. Our accommodations were comfortable. The views were astounding. The peace and quiet left us relaxed and content. It was beautiful medieval village - spectacular in every way. Everywhere we turned there were friendly people warmly greeting us with a friendly smile. We were made to feel like their most important guests at all times. Such a charming place. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about our experience. It was exceptional in every way. We are already planning a return visit. Thank you Volpaia for making our stay a lifetime memory for our family.

Absolutely amazing. I wish I spent more time here as everything was terrific. We stopped for a wine tasting and tour. The wine as excellent and so was the olio. Super rustic and charming. I would love to stay in the villas next time but if you are on a wine tour you need to stop here at a minimum. So glad my local store carries their wine!!

We called to check the day’s availability in terms of tours. Of course all was fully booked but they were happy to host us for a tasting which was superb. The winery sits on a beautiful location on top of a hill, surrounded by what’s seems like a small village. Nice perk is that after the tasting we were able to buy the wines at a discount, of which some are exclusively available at the winery itself.

Staying at Castello di Volpaia felt like stepping into a Tuscan postcard. Nestled among vineyards and olive groves, it offers breathtaking scenic views in every direction, the kind that make you stop and just take it all in. You’re literally staying inside a historic winery, surrounded by charm, tranquility, and authenticity. The rooms are spotlessly clean, quiet, and tastefully decorated to match the rustic elegance of the village. This is the kind of place where time slows down, where you can wander the cobblestone paths, taste incredible local wines, and enjoy the peaceful countryside. One important tip: you definitely need a car to get here and to explore the surrounding Chianti region comfortably. But the drive is part of the experience, winding roads with panoramic views at every turn.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, setting, restaurants and bars. With lush surroundings and a homely family atmosphere of staff, the location was just perfect. Views from the back of the bedroom balcony were unbelievable. We had a fantastic meal in Osteria, definitely recommend the duck pasta. Bar ucci was also amazing, staff so welcoming and great prices. We did the wine tour and tasting, such a lovely experience and wonderful wine. Could not recommend more, can't wait to return.

A magical stay in a medieval village. Castello Di Volpaia is contained inside a medieval village of original restored stone buildings, among which the various operations of wine production and the “hotel” business are housed. From the moment we arrived we could tell this was a special place. Walking the streets feels like going back in time, surrounded by authentic Tuscan history. Everyone we met was warm, friendly, helpful, and patient. The room was comfortable and well appointed and the food options are impressive for someplace off the beaten path. It was an excellent value for the money too. There are SO many options in Tuscany, it's tough to know what you're going to get. We lucked out with Castello di Volpaia. If you’re looking for a unique, authentic, quiet, elegant, and beautiful stay in the Chianti region, look no further! We were met warmly upon arrival by Lorenzo, who escorted us to our room and showed us where everything was. Lorenzo made himself available to us via WhatsApp throughout our stay, patiently answering our questions. He helped us find restaurants, amenities like grocery stores and other attractions in nearby towns. He even showed us the best spot to watch the sunset (which was, of course, magical). Much of the village of Volpaia has been taken over by the winery, but there are many guest rooms and suites, several restaurants, a wine shop, and a few private homes. The grounds are stunning and well kept, and even though there is a lot of winery work happening, it never interfered with our enjoyment - it actually added to it. Our favorite restaurant on property was “Bar-Ucci”, a casual place with elevated Tuscan comfort fare, delicious cocktails, decadent homemade desserts, and of course, fabulous wines, all at reasonable prices. The staff there were all friendly and helpful, especially Lucreccia (unsure of the spelling). She provided great service and spot-on recommendations. We ate there every day, and she always remembered us and took good care of us. The included breakfast spread is impressive as well. It’s presented buffet style inside one of the stone buildings on property and run by two lovely, friendly and helpful people who greeted us warmly every morning and remembered what we liked. There were SO many breakfast options! MANY fresh sweet and savory pastries, assorted meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, nuts, cereals, yogurt, juices, and even eggs and bacon to order. They made excellent cappuccino and Americano coffee as well. When we asked what brand of coffee they used, they went out of their way to find out for us. We also took the winery tour with Fabio, our fabulous guide. He showed us every step of the wine operations, from the vineyard to the aging process. Fabio’s knowledge was impressive, he explained everything carefully and fielded our many questions patiently and graciously. We learned a lot. The village of Volpaia is only a few minutes drive from the town of Radda, where you can find a grocery store, more restaurants, shopping, gas stations, etc. There are also several other nearby towns and attractions, making it a good hub for your Chianti Region adventures, as long as you have a car. On this trip we visited many places, like Rome, Florence, and the Amalfi coast. Our visit to Castello di Volpaia was our favorite. The Chianti region is spectacularly beautiful, and the charming rustic stone village of Volpaia was a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. We will be back as soon as we are able! Thank you to the all the staff at Castello di Volpaia and Bar-Ucci for helping to make our vacation a special one.

A Gem in Chianti: Unforgettable Wine Tour at Castello Volpaia A visit to Castello Volpaia offers an enchanting journey through history, innovation, and exceptional wine, leaving a lasting impression with its stunning views and the captivating charm of its ancient stones. Our recent wine tour of the facilities was a highlight of our time in Tuscany. The experience was made all the more memorable by our tour guide, Francesco. A young man whose passion for wine and deep knowledge of the craft were evident in every explanation, Francesco brought the story of Volpaia to life. He expertly guided us through the beautiful old castle, revealing the truly amazing and ingeniously hidden wine technology seamlessly integrated within its historic walls. It was fascinating to see how centuries-old architecture houses a state-of-the-art winemaking operation. The castle itself is a marvel, and the panoramic views from its vantage point are simply breathtaking, offering a picturesque backdrop to an already impressive tour. The combination of the ancient setting, the innovative approach to winemaking, and Francesco's engaging guidance made for an unparalleled experience. For anyone visiting the Chianti region, a wine tour at Castello Volpaia comes highly recommended. It’s a perfect blend of Tuscan beauty, winemaking excellence, and passionate storytelling.

Gucci - Leccio Outlet

Boutique
Shopping
Luxury brand known for modern, Italian-crafted leather goods, apparel & accessories for men & women.
A very large and extremely good Gucci outlet. There is a wide selection of clothes and especially shoes, with prices that are really good. Sometimes it’s hard to find the right sizes, but that’s normal for an outlet. You may also have to wait a bit to be served, since you can’t just pick the items yourself. Other than that, I think it’s the best shop inside the mall.

We received amazing assistance on the sales floor from Luca, who was friendly, knowledgeable and patient through our multiple purchases. However when it came to checkout, the cashier staff was rude, especially after I pointed out that he had filled my tax refund form incorrectly. I guess once Gucci has taken your money they don’t feel obligated to treat you decently anymore. Left the store on a sour note.

Wonderful store! Large, a lot of products from purse, shoes, clothes. Sales associates nice and friendly. They had a fire alarm as I was buying a purse and had to leave the store for about 20 minutes. Thought about not buying the purse I wanted but glad I did. I feel like I got a good price for the product. No regrets. The whole mall area is nice.

Really great Gucci store to visit! Prices are good compared to other places, and there’s a huge variety of items to see. The store has three floors — the first and second are full of Gucci products like bags, clothes, shoes, and accessories, while the third floor is just for payments, which makes checkout quick and simple. The place is big, well organized, and very easy to shop in. Perfect spot for anyone traveling here and looking for a nice Gucci shopping experience. Highly recommended!

Surrounded by a silent landscape and two thousand acres of forest, guests can enjoy hikes, picnics, and guided tours.
We ate here a couple of times in the six days of our visit. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the impeccable staff especially Francesca who kept us amused on both visits. I don’t think I have ever had hugs on leaving a restaurant I have only been to twice. They were so incredibly friendly but still professional. The food was great and the wine (one of their own Chianti Classico Reserva 2019) was delicious and reasonable. They do a tasting menu but we decided to go with our instincts. It’s not cheap but I think reasonable for the quality; the service and the surroundings. Both times it was quite full which meant it had a lovely stand vibe to it. Well worth finding and you may want to book in advance. Thanks again

Sitting on top of a hill in Tuscany you will find Badia a Coltibuono and it truly is a gem. It’s a quiet and peaceful escape in monastery built in 1050 and turned into a winery and hotel! The buildings have so much history and the wine is delicious. The rooms are clean, large and well appointed. The best part about Badia a Coltibuono though is the staff. They go out of their way to make you feel at home and are so lovely. We took a 2 day cooking class and Linda was a fantastic teacher! Special thanks also to Giusy for making our stay so special. We can’t wait to bring family back!

We only came for a wine tour and tasting, but had a great experience and loved our guide, Agatha. She was very knowledgeable with the history of the old monastery turned winery and was a great guide for the different wines we tried.

Truly appreciate the beauty of this medieval abbey (built in 1051) that was turned into a great wine resort. The room is spacious, clean, breakfast in a garden, food are excellent with homemade bakeries.. e.g. pistaschio stuffed croissant, their own wines.. great haven for an escape with style. Staff are friendly too.

At the recommendation of the hotel I am staying at, I came to this resort to enjoy a nice lunch and do a wine tasting. When I attempted to enter, the woman attendant immediately told me that this was a "private" resort and I could not enter. I told her that I understood that they conduct wine tastings, to which she responded that they are only done by reservation. It was very clear that she wanted me to leave, and I did so. I was looking forward to my visit and went out of my way to come to this location. After the POOR greating that I was given I will surely not return. I will continue my scouting mission, to find exceptional wines in the region, elsewhere. There are many treasures to be found, but this is obviously not one of them. Even if the wines were exceptional, I would prefer to give my business to people who are a little less abrasive. I should mention that the location is very scenic. I'm sure with the right staff my experience would have been quite different and perhaps I might have looked to stay at this resort on a future trip.

This an exceptional place to stay at. La Badia is a sort of all friend we discovered more than 10 years ago. First we visited and some years later we stayed. We took the appartement Fattore for 7 nights and we felt like at home, really. The garden is gorgeous, there is a nice pool, a library... So much to enjoy. The staff is very professional. We highly recommend.

Amazing heritage site and the tour was very interesting. The lady on reception was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The tasting was underwhelming, the young woman hosting it was uninterested and cold. It made that part feel quite awkward. But certainly worth visiting to see the incredible Abbey.
Alistair — Google review
My wife and I visited this beautiful Abbey at the beginning of September. As our flight was delated, we arrived past 1130pm but the restaurant staff was so kind to leave a full dinner in our appartment. The granaio appartment was clean and well furnished, and the breakfast the day after our arrival very good. Friendly staff served us scambled eggs, prosciutto and cheese, excellent house made focaccia and pizza, a spinach and prosciutto puff pastry pie, fresh fruit and yogurt..and a milion other items. Coffee service at the same level of a bar..cappuccino, latte and all you can ask for, juices etc. My wife broke a tooth and the reception found for us a dentist the very day. Stunning to say, dentist performed a clean up and temporary repair for free!!!! We also joined the tour and tasting, which was hosted in a tasteful room. Concierge again helped us booking a wine tasting at Volpaia our last day. A part the restaurant needs to be mentioned. Riccardo Giorgi, manager at the restaurant, offered us the most friendly and professional service I have ever received in my entire career of hospitality and food and beverage manager. Service was attentive but not invasive, we asked for items off the luch menu such as a big juicy chianina steak, he made it happen. Wine tasting was offered by the house. I shall mention that we booked the granaio room not being aware than it can host up to 2 families. When we casually mentioned this to the receptionist, we were given 50% off. I have been manager in the industry for over 35 years and I have never received such professional and attentive service. Stop to visit the pretty shop at the beginning of the road that takes you to the abbey..you will find the same quality. We will be back

Nestled in the picturesque town of Leccio, in the Florence province of Italy, Castello di Sammezzano is a mesmerizing Moorish castle surrounded by 450 acres of lush parkland adorned with exotic trees and Arabic-style artifacts. This hill-top castle boasts opulent and vibrant Moorish revival architecture, making it one of the most stunning castles in Tuscany.
What a beautiful building. I would love to explore and see the inside, but there’s cameras everywhere. Maybe one day. Well worth the easy stroll there to see it from the outside.

Castle is abandoned and closed to public. You can look at it from the outside, but not from the inside. It’s a shame and very sad to see such beautiful place ruined

What a beautiful place but sadly abandoned and left to ruin until recently. It’s been bought and going through refurbishment to reopen to public soon hopefully

Absolutely incredible abandoned palace with Moorish style art. It is way better than shopping at "The Mall" From Florence at Fortezza da Basso and take the "The Mall" bus (Black double deck bus marke The Mall). 15 Euros round trip. The last bus to the Mall is 16:00 & the last to return is 22:20. Sammezzano, or the Castle of Sammezzano, is an Italian palazzo in Tuscany featuring Moorish Revival architectural style. It is located in Leccio, a hamlet of Reggello, in the Province of Florence. The original palazzo was erected in about 1605 by the Spanish nobleman Ximenes of Aragon. In the 19th century, Ferdinand Panciatichi Ximenes inherited the property and, between 1853 and 1889, remodeled it into one of the largest examples of Moorish Revival architecture. Umberto I, king of Italy, visited Ximenes at Sammezzano in 1878. The palazzo served as a luxury hotel in the post World War II era; then was vacated and closed. A committee called FPXA 1813–2013, abbreviation for Ferdinand Panciatichi Ximenes d’Aragon, was organized in 2012 to attempt to restore and preserve the palazzo, which has 365 rooms, each with unique, Moorish decoration

I wish it was possible to see inside and know more of the estate’s history. I think we were lucky as there was a film shoot being set up so we were able to drive right up to the steps of the main building. Even if the gate is down, it would be a pleasant and easy 15 minute walk. Fascinating and so sad to see the decay.

Unfortunately like everyone said this is actually closed but if you want to walk and see something quiet, amazing. Architecture and the brickwork is pretty amazing. Go for a walk unwind. Maybe take a picnic..

An extraordinary piece of architecture. Unfortunately it has been neglected over the past years and cannot be visited from the inside anymore. The walk around the Castello is beautiful and quiet. Definitely worth a visit.

The Saltalbero Adventure Park is an addictive place for kids aged 7 and 4. The adventure begins with a brief stroll where one can spot rabbits hopping around. The park staff provides instructions on using the safety harness for those opting for a genuine adventure, while others can freely explore the wilderness. Initially scared, both children overcame their fears after completing the introductory level and became hooked on the experience.

The on-site restaurant, cafe, and bistro provide delicious dining options.
Amazing experience! Place is huge , lots of extra stuff like water/ tea and fruit all throughout. Staff are amazingly accommodating and pleasant. Spa coordinator was going above and beyond to resolve our issue of double booking that booking.com can NOT,( have not confirmed the refund ) The view view the infinity pool specially during sunset was marvelous it adds to the fantastic scenery. My young adult kids loved their facials and the many options on where to soak. We as a family collectively wants to go back. Dinner was deliciously crafted my monk fish specially. We am more relaxed and rejuvenated leaving this place so that’s worth my expense.

Beautiful thermal baths with relaxing pools, perfect water temperature, and a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature. Staff are very friendly and everything is well organized. The only drawback was the showers — they switch off every 30 seconds and the cabins are a bit small. Still, a wonderful place to relax and I’d be happy to return! 🌿✨

Used the day spa services. I have been three times this year since we live fairly close. The spa offers different pools and lovely grounds with different types of chairs and umbrella options to relax. The half day pass is a bargain at 15 euros. Be sure to bring your own flip flops or water sandals and robe or towel. no street shoes allowed outside of locker rooms. Daily use includes free lockers showers blow dryers etc. I have booked various massages and massage staff are all very professional. Front desk staff helpful and some can speak English. Easy selection of fresh salads in casual lunch restaurant. Reasonably priced. Overall a good way to spend the day in Tuscany.

This place is definitely worth visiting. The mineral pools are so great for your health. Everything was positive. The 15 euro morning pass was more than enough time for us and included so many pools and stunning views.

Pretty place, but honestly the worst massage I’ve ever had. I’m not even sure it was a real masseuse or just someone hired. I’ll be booking a proper deep tissue massage when I’m back home. My friend had one too and felt the same way. I would not book a massage here. 3 stars over how terrible the massage was

We went for a girls trip, highly recommend. Facilities where great, staff very friendly and everything in general I would say was high quality. Food and cocktails are very good and the treatment list has fair pricing. Really recommend if you are looking for some relax and peace of mind!

Great place with a beautiful view for a reasonable price. On a cold day, the temperature of the water is comfortable in the covered pool and in the first external pool. The further away you go from the covered pool, the lower the temperature of the water. A bit crowded on weekends.
Tancred G — Google review
We did a non-VIP day spa visit on a cloudy day in October (19°C). We arrived around noon, rented robes walked around the facility. The pools and sunbeds were not busy. The water temperature varies from pool to pool so the warm and hot pools were the only ones in use. By mid afternoon the indoor pool (hottest) was crowded. Based on visits to thermal spas in Iceland, Budapest and Canada, the facilities are mid-range but the presence of significant silt on the bottom of the pools was disconcerting. At times it felt like walking through muck, and the water is very milky so you can't see your feet/the bottom of the pool. Also, we weren't informed at the check in desk that you get access to the saunas only with the VIP ticket as they are located on the hotel side. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way for this spa.

Terme Antica Querciolaia is a vast wellness complex featuring both outdoor and indoor pools, as well as offering spa treatments and a restaurant. The Parco dell'Acqua of Rapolano, located nearby, showcases sculptures made of travertine by various Italian and international artists. Visitors can book tickets online to secure lounges in the shade, although plenty of spaces are usually available without prior booking.
We came on a Wednesday, Summer day and only went for the pools and sunbathing, not to stay at the hotel. We brought our own towels, shoes and change of clothes. It was perfect for our visit. Multiple pools offered a nice variety to choose from. We have two children, 8 & 10 years old boys and saw multiple other children, but saw plenty of single adults. Since the facility is so large with multiple pools, I felt there were several options for peace and tranquility, sunbathing or family fun. The water temperature was perfect and even offered a refreshing cool shower right outside of the pool. We ate at the cafe and left with iced coffee togo on our trip back to our Air BnB. Front desk was kind and facility was clean! Would recommend!

25 euros for a full day and 21 for half day (until 14). This is the basic thermal pools, nothing fancy - but we super enjoyed ourselves. Cafeteria prices weren’t too high, but it’s better to prepare food/snacks in advance. Really recommend!

Terme Antica Querciolaia has a whopping eight pools! Six of them are outdoor thermal pools, and the other two are indoor pools. These pools are all part of the spa’s lovely park, and they’re filled with natural thermal waters packed with minerals. An absolute treat for your skin, airways and brain. The indoor restaurant offers excellent meals and great Italian coffees.

We visited the hot springs for the day with family and two kids, age 3&5. All of us had a great time, mainly in the outdoor pools. Sun beds are free and lockers are 2 euro deposit. The place was beautiful, and very clean. Had lunch at the cafe, which was great, taste and price wise.

Its huge area includes many differently sized open pools, filled with constantly pouring in hot minerals-rich water. If you’re next to a pipe you get kind of stream massage. While I was wandering in the pools, my wife took a therapeutic mud treatment and later joined me in the pool. The atmosphere is naturally very relaxing. And it is just 40 min drive from Siena.

The Castle of the Earls Guidi, located in the hamlet of Poppi in Casentino, is a well-preserved medieval castle that has served as the seat of local political power for centuries. It stands as a dominant monument in the area and offers visitors an audio tour to explore its manuscript-filled library and bell tower with panoramic views. The castle's history is intertwined with that of the Guidi family, who resided there for nearly four hundred years.
It's possible to visit inside as well, is very interesting the things. The visit can be done in a few minutes as the castle is not so big. There is also a prison inside with the remains of a skeleton. The inside of the castle can only be visited if you pay, and the ticket price is very affordable.

We recently explored the Castello dei Conti Guidi in Poppi – and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you arrive, the fortress impresses with its solid stone façade and majestic tower rising against the Tuscan sky. But the real treasure lies within: a dramatic staircase bathed in light, centuries-old coats of arms lining the walls, and perfectly preserved medieval architecture that feels alive with history. Wander through rooms filled with knightly armor, vibrant frescoes, and elegant details. The highlight? A breathtaking library holding over 25,000 ancient volumes – a true sanctuary of knowledge and craftsmanship. This castle is not just a visit – it’s a deep dive into the soul of Tuscany’s noble past. Enjoy your stay here and have a fantastic time! 👋

We were staying nearby and decided to walk up to Poppi Castle ( and when I say up.....it really is an uphill walk). The castle was everything I expected it to be and more. It was beautiful, and the views were amazing. It is very rich in history and has many stories behind it. You can even walk in an old jail cell. The walk up to the bell tower is nice, just beware, the bell still rings every 30 minutes. I recommend going. There is also a cute cafe across the street when you are finished.

Poppi Zoo

Park
Poppi Zoo is a modest yet charming destination for wildlife enthusiasts in Tuscany. Situated in the picturesque Municipal territory of Poppi, it offers a unique insight into the local ecosystem. The zoo primarily features indigenous species, providing visitors with an opportunity to appreciate the native fauna of the region. While some areas may require maintenance and English information is limited, it remains an enjoyable experience for nature lovers.
Poppi zoo is an excellent spot to see some local wildlife in a lovely setting. We almost didn't come since the ratings are so mixed, but so glad we came - this is a hidden gem that definitely deserves much higher ratings. Looked almost abandoned at first, but as we walked past the donkeys, we started seeing everything from lynx to owls and much much more. We paid for our ticket on the way out meeting the owner Monica, who is obviously very passionate about her animals. The highlight was coming face to face with wolves. PS: highly recommend quirky Osteria del Tempo Perso in nearby Poppi if you need a meal.
Paul B — Google review
I was dubious about coming because there is only a three star review on Google but we went anyway and I’m so glad we did. It’s a lovely place in a beautiful part of Tuscany with big green areas, open spaces to picnic and plenty of benches throughout. There are lots of animals to see, a play park and a bar/ restaurant. All of the animals look very well looked after and healthy, which was a huge relief for me after some of the horror wildlife parks I’ve seen in the past. The staff were friendly. I would recommend it.
Deedee G — Google review
Very run down and in a complete state of disrepair. Old farming equipment and nettles everywhere. Half the animals are donkeys and wild rabbits! That being said, my kids and I had an exiting afternoon. We were pretty much alone in the park, which gave it an eerie atmosphere. At any moment we expected Tyrannosaurs and wolves to jump us! Unfortunately we did not see any of the expected wolves - and the bear apparently died in 2022. In my opinion the birds of prey had too small enclosures, but we saw no animals in distress. It could become a much better attraction with some investment and hard work. But if you are the area, and in need of a picnic spot when give it a try.
Bjørn T — Google review
Very nice zoo with many European animals in their habitat. The (quite old) brown bear is super cute. We spent half a day spotting the animals with our 3yo daughter. The animals have plenty of space and look happy. Entrance is 8€ for adults and 6.5€ for kids. There is a restaurant where you can buy food and sandwiches for picnic and also a playground (old, but still our daughter enjoyed it quite a lot)
Caterina V — Google review
This zoo is more of an animal sanctuary for native animals. The animals were happy and well cared for. You can tell they are socialized with the staff as they come to fences to see you. The food was excellent as well.
Dale Z — Google review
This zoo is very special and worth a visit. The animals are native to the area and you can actually see they are happy. That is rare in a zoo. The views are amazing and as you walk to the exhibits it is as if you are in a park. As someone else mentioned, it is more of a sanctuary than just a zoo.
Alissa M — Google review
Went there and it looked like the „cages“ (yes I have to call them that because they looked like literal cages with metal bars) hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The bears looked miserable and sad in their little enclosure and the wolves/ wild dogs looked as if they hadn’t eaten in months either and as if we were its next meal. The bird cages hurt me as a human, way too small and very sad.
Marla — Google review
+ emaizing view + Great park and picnic area + Possibility feed some animals - playground should be renovated, some things have to be fixed - English is not really supported and there are few information signs that help you without knowing Italian, but it doesn't impact the possibility to enter and enjoy the trip. About animals. Some opinions are exaggerated, there are no "sick/sad" animals visible. Some animals are hard to see because they have enough space to hide. Some animals are missing some space but it is not possible to provide enough space for them (birds) in that case I only hope it's been rescued and not removed from the nature. Overall location is amazing, zoo is average, facilities should be renovated but there are not many places like this to see in good weather.

Basilica di San Francesco

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
Basilica di San Francesco is a 13th-century Roman Catholic church known for housing the famous Legends of the True Cross frescoes. The cycle of frescoes, inspired by the Legenda Aurea, depicts the story of the piece of wood used to build Jesus's cross. The basilica itself is a small brick and stone structure located in a square of the same name. Although incomplete in its covering and ornamentation, it remains popular among visitors.
Because of frescoes which are the main attraction in this cathedral, are most important ones around main altar presenting The History of the True Cross from 1400s. In those times most people were illiterate and for them to understand Bible is to make it like a comic books today.....pictures that follow and tell a story. There is another story on the wall, fresco, that was amazing to me. Of archangel Gabriel.

For most people the attraction of the Basilica di San Francesco boils down to one things: the fresco by Piero della Francesca. And to be fair it is an astonishing piece of work even if it does give you neck ache. His rendering of the History of the True Cross is vivid and alive in a remarkable way. Still the church does offer a few more attractions with other frescoes and creations scattered about. There's plenty of space and quite a lot to enjoy if you like Renaissance religious buildings. I can imagine that it gets busy in the holidays but out of season it was a delight.

Large and interesting basilica. Most visitors immediately head for the frescos behind the large hanging cross at the pulpit. Be sure to look to the left just as you pass the ticket booth. There is a beautiful chapel serving as a war memorial to Italian casualties.

A must for Piero della Francesca fans, people who don’t care much should leave space for those, who can appreciate. This is one of the most otherworldly early Renaissance art experiences and the 30 minute slot allotted to visitors will surely stay in their memories forever! Otherwise it’s a nice experience too. Friendly staff, good explanation aids provided. Well worth the effort!

Time to visit Piero della Francesca frescos formally limited to 30 mins, but, at least out of season, nobody checks if you leave on time. The rest of the church worth attention as well. You have to pay for ticket reservation no matter if you buy online or onsite. In October it was no problem to have a ticket for same day, only couple of time slots were fully sold out. A backpacks have to be left in a locker at the entrance. There is a toilet inside.

Impressive historical church in the middle of the city center of Arezzo. You definitely will walk along this nice place and building when you pay a visit to Arezzo. We were here in September 2021, while it was not too crowded. We didn’t pay a visit to the inside because you can see the inside through a “door window”… .

Superb visit where I could admire frescoes in this Gothic Basilica with painting from the 14th century, houses one of the greatest masterpieces of the Renaissance, the “Legend of the True Cross” by Piero della Francesca, the extraordinary cycle painted by the artist between 1452 and 1455 approximately in the Bacci Chapel.

Arezzo Cathedral, also known as Cattedrale di Arezzo, is a hilltop medieval cathedral dedicated to Saint Donatus. It features a stunning Piero della Francesca fresco and notable stained-glass windows by Frenchman Guillaume de Marcillat. The Gothic cathedral's unfinished facade was completed in the 20th century.
I cant remember buying tickets here...maybe because there was a funeral right before we entered. The frescoes on the ceiling are breathtaking. The interior is a little darker than other churches/cathedrals so far. You wanna sit here and just enjoy the details.

This fantastic Cathedral rises atop a hill in the upper part of the city, on the foundations of an ancient early Christian church where a Roman acropolis likely once stood. Begun in the Gothic style during the 13th century, the construction of the dome, dedicated to Saints Peter and Donatus, was not completed until three centuries later, in 1511, after numerous cycles of alteration. Its bell tower with tall, twin windows, designed by Luigi Mercanti, was built between 1857 and 1859. The last reconstruction of the façade was carried out between 1901 and 1914, based on a design by Viviani intended to replace the unfinished one dating back to the 15th century. Dominating the city, this imposing three-nave building, without a transept, boasts seven beautiful stained-glass windows created by the monk and master glassmaker Guillaume de Marcillat from Berry. The French artist worked between Arezzo and Cortona from 1516. This masterpiece of glass art was created in two phases, between 1516 and 1517, and then between 1522 and 1524. These illustrious biblical tales can be admired in the vaults of the first three bays of the main nave and the first bay of the left aisle. Also inside are the small but famous 15th-century fresco of Mary Magdalene by Piero della Francesca, glazed terracotta sculptures by Andrea della Robbia, and the tombs of the 14th-century Bishop Guido Tarlati and Pope Gregory X, who died in Arezzo in 1276.

This is a very impressive cathedral high up on the hill in Arezzo. Inside it is both dark, cavernous and cool which adds to the sense of majesty. A funeral was taking place while we visited which was quite moving and showed how this is a working church for the city. Unfortunately this means that it doesn't seem to have much in the way of signs for tourist visitors.
Damian C — Google review
Beautiful cathedral with incredible interior views of its domes. Sit and reflect in the relative darkness with candies flickering. It’s a slight uphill climb all the way from the train station and past the main piazza.

I was impressed to visit and was not disappointed at all by the beautiful and ancient art.

Absolutely gorgeous place! Not so many tourists, great atmosphere and very organic place (no barriers etc.). Seems like the cathedral management trusts tourists to behave and allows them to basically walk around which creates as I have said an organic experience. Entry is free.

(Translated by Google) A magnificent church, with all sorts of things you don't often see. Corner balustrades, metal pillar supports. A double staircase along and over a lower section of the church with a kind of crypt. A magical view into the underground. A resting place, where a tomb with a sword and staff has been added, separate rooms. Incredibly detailed and equipped with all the splendor and magnificence you would expect from a cathedral. We were there early in the morning and had the entire church almost to ourselves. The light in a church in the morning is the most spectacular. Combined with the silence... goosebumps. A hidden gem, but definitely worth it.

Absolutely STUNNING PLACE whether you are believer or not. It is very suggestive place in the mountains in province of Arezzo (Tuscany). It consists of couple of buildings of sanctuary, church, chapels, place where Saint Francis received the stigmas, small museum, shop. You can feel strong spirituality and huge peace there. When i entered the church, one of Franciscan monk played the grand piano and I burst into tears without reason. We didn't planned this visit on our journey, we were with our dog, which was not a problem everywhere outside. Please pay attention, there is about 5-7 degrees colder in this valley, we suggest to take jumper or jacket with you. We ate local "piadinas" in small bar near the parking place. Surely WORTH OF NEXT VISIT AGAIN.

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Italy, La Verna is a place of unparalleled natural beauty and spiritual significance. Its rugged cliffs and lush forests provide a stunning backdrop to the iconic La Verna Sanctuary, where St. Francis of Assisi once communed with nature and received the stigmata. A pilgrimage to this hallowed site promises a profound connection with both the divine and the wonders of the Italian landscape.

Cimitero Monumentale

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
The Cimitero Monumentale is a well-maintained and pristine burial ground where the Mussolini crypt has recently become accessible to the general public. Dedicated volunteers ensure compliance with anti Covid measures and offer guidance during visits. Standing before the Duce's sarcophagus, one can grasp its significance as a testament to Italian history. No further additions seem necessary to appreciate this site's historical importance.
(Translated by Google) Very well kept, it houses the crypt of the Mussolini family. The mortal remains of Benito Mussolini, Duce of Fascism, are buried there. I ended up here by chance last October 20th. There were around 1000 people celebrating the anniversary of October 28: The March on Rome that brought Fascism to power. I recommend a visit if you are in these parts, it is a piece of history of our country, whether you like it or not, that's how it is!!!! (Translated by Google) The complex, located just outside the town of Predappio, consists of the Cemetery, known for Mussolini's Crypt and the Church of San Cassiano. The perspective effect that converges, from the entrance of the complex, slightly uphill, towards the chapel located adjacent to the Mussolini family crypt is very beautiful. It should be remembered that it is a burial place and should be treated as such. One star less because it is poorly signposted and almost devoid of signs indicating what you are visiting or mentioning the architectural studio behind the project. Little reported even from the nearby town of Predappio.
