The Old Crane in the Lüneburg harbor is a centuries-old industrial landmark that dates back to 1346. This historic harbor crane was used to lift valuable goods such as salt and firewood. It features two hidden wooden carrying wheels and is still fully functional, despite becoming redundant after Lüneburg was connected to the railway network in 1846.
This is a medieval port ramp used for (un)loading salt and other products from boats.
It's set in the very center, but more we liked the relaxed vibe of the area. There're several bars and restaurants around with outdoor seating, and people sit on the bridge with their drinks enjoying the beautiful scenery around

The crane, which was built in 1797 and was one of the most powerful in northern Germany at the time, still characterizes the image of the Wasserviertel today and is regarded as a landmark. A short trip to Lüneburg is the natural consequence after visiting Lübeck. The salt that made Lübeck rich actually came from Lüneburg! At the former harbor in the water district (Wasserviertel), you'll find this "Old Crane," a (secret) symbol of Lüneburg. This is where the precious salt ("white gold") was shipped, bringing great wealth to the city during the time of the Hanseatic League. In the Middle Ages, the crane was an important tool for lifting heavy loads, especially salt bags, onto ships or onto land—thus allowing the salt to be transported further to Lübeck through the Stecknitz Canal. Two old ships can still be seen there. And there are plenty of lovely Cafés around the square - a true tourist magnet! 🤩

The restaurant has amazing location near by the river, and it is a big one. As you can see from the pictures they have nice view and atmosphere. The staff was very warm, friendly and quick service. They serve Lavazza coffee and the cakes were fantastic, and also normal prices. Strongly recommend and if I have the chance I would definitely visit it again!
Very beautiful, especially with the Christmas markets and the lights. This is a beautiful city, well worth a visit.

Worth place for Visiting & soothing your mind.
Lüneburg's town hall is a storyteller, administrative seat, landmark and gem all in one. With its 259 rooms, it is one of the most outstanding architectural monuments in northern Germany and the largest medieval town hall in the north. The construction of our town hall began around 1230 and was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded over the centuries. Thanks to its 700-year building history, traces from various epochs have been left throughout the town hall: Gothic and Renaissance court arbor, prince's hall, old archive, chancellery and mayor's chamber. Masterful woodwork adorns the large council chamber, which is one of the largest Renaissance halls in Germany. The Hall of Homage and the market facade date from the Baroque period. In the tower there is a clockwork with chimes made of Meissen porcelain.
The town hall is still actively used as the seat of the administration of the city of Lüneburg. However, the most beautiful rooms are open for you to visit as part of a guided tour.

If you come Lüneburg, then make sure to take the guided tour of the City Hall. The city hall is supposed to be one of the most beautiful city halls in Germany, which was as the city itself was luckily was not destroyed during the war. If you come on a Saturday, you cN combine the visit of the market right outside the city hall, with a guided tour. We had the most entertaining German lady, who could tell way more than what she was able to tell us in this one hour tour.

Not what I had oringnally thought it would be. But our guide Marco was very informative, and I learnt so much more than I expected. To remember and honour the past to ensure we don't repeat the mistakes of the past.

2025.02.15: free to enter, half an hour away from Hamburg, by car. The area is huge, if you're planning to go through in detail and also read everything you'll need multiple hours to do that. The place has a special atmosphere where you can really feel the weight of the happenings of the past. Worth visiting.
I spent 5 to 6 hours here , totally worth the commuting to this memorial. Even on a rainy day, it was worth it, it actually gave a deeper experience.

Very informative and eye opening experience. The premise is spread over a very big area. So be prepared to walk a lot in the open. Unfortunately we visited on a rainy day, so couldn't explore much of the ground. But exhibition is very informative with lots of original photos and documents. Entry and exhibition are free.
It's hard to rate a place so full of sad memories and dark times.
But the place itself is quiet, somber, and very respectful of its history.
The displays are thoughtful and deep. I was particularly moved by the albums that were about a single person.
When you read them and realize that over 100,000 passed thru the camp, it's an overwhelming moment.
This concentration camp became a prison after WWII, before becoming an exhibition centre. Therefore, there aren't many original features of the camp which remain. There is a lot of learning material available in the exhibition space, with photos and information. You have to pick up separate cards at each exhibit point if you want to read in English French or Polish. The reception desk has a map which suggests a one hour or two hour route of the camp.
Free to visit. You can still feel the menacing atmosphere. Many old buildings still intact and the exhibitions were interesting with lots of old stuff from the camps.
Recommended if you want to know more details about the World War 2 and the life of prisoners in this concentration camp. We can only imagine the effect that it left on so many families.

Modern museum & conservation center for German tanks & military vehicles, plus weaponry exhibits.
An excellent exhibition of old and new armored vehicles and cannons of all sorts that were developed and used all the way from World War 1 up to the present.
I don't know if a girlfriend would be interested in watching tanks all day long but I think some kiddos would be so definitely recommended for a fun and interesting family visit where they can dive into the history of some of the machines that shaped our present world.

Must see for any military armor enthusiast. Took my father who had been waiting for a decade and he was not disappointed. Extensive collection of well preserved German tanks as well as Russian, British, American, and Israeli. Little English used in signage but it didn’t detract from the awesome condition these machines are in.

Two points of critic - majority of description is in German only. It seems they are trying to improve since there were some English description but only on few places.
Not many interactive options though, only one tank available to get inside and few of them cut so you can see inside and that's it.
Excellent place to visit, your inner(or current) 12 year old/adult self will thank you for making the trip! As some have mentioned, they do not have signs in English, but they do have an app on the phone that has translations for 95% of them. Definitely a must see if you're into this kind of thing (I am 😁), and plan on spending 2-3+ hours if you want to read/watch everything
Great museum for any tank enthusiast, with a diverse collection ranging from WW1 to the modern era. Most vehicles are greatly restored and the layout is easy to navigate. Payment by card is possible and the gift shop also has coffee and snacks.
The collection is quite impressive. I guess most tanks used by the Wehrmacht if not all, are in the museum. The Panzer series, the Jagdpanzer, the Tiger tank, 8.8 Flak, several PAK, they are all there.
The staff is kind and very helpful.
For this reason I rate the museum with 5 stars.
One kind remark for future reference, the texts near each object are in German only. It would have been handy if there would be English descriptions as well.

A huge and very informative exhibition of various tanks and other armored vehicles. Some of them you cannot see anywhere else! They have i.e. the First-world.war tank Wotan, Tigers and King Tigers as well as Abrams etc., up to tanks from the modern era. Concerning tanks, this is one of the best places in Europe! A must!

Perfect place for family with kids! Very cleanly maintained. Kids will enjoy definitely the park and the play area. Also there are bird shows and animal feeding sessions. Not recommended on a rainy day as the roads are muddy. You can take your own food too. Baby stroller can be taken too. Plenty of car parking available.
We had a great day at the Wildpark, definitely recommend it. The bird show was interesting and entertaining. We didn’t get to see the tigers, guess they were hiding or sleeping but we plan to go back again. The view from the top was breathtaking, if you go definitely do that too.
We had a wonderful day at the park! There is a great variety of animals to see and the landscape is beautiful, perfect for a relaxing walk. Our kid loved exploring, and the many playgrounds throughout the park were a fantastic bonus.
We also rented a pull cart on-site, which is super convenient for families with young children.
The only downside (as others have mentioned) is that some animals seem to stay very close to the fence, clearly waiting for food from visitors.
Overall, a great experience and definitely a place we would recommend for a fun day out with family or friends!
Really a nice park. Very beautiful, clean and fun. We loved that there were a lot of good and healthy food options, many great playgrounds all through the park and really informative sessions on the different animals throughout the day (though obly available on German).

A very nice zoological park. Lots of animals to feed and enjoy. Do be careful when walking through the deer paddock. If you stop in one spot don't feed the deer, they try to chew on your clothes! No damage was done and we had a good laugh, but our clothes went straight into the washing machine when we returned home.

The Hamburg Townhall, also known as the Hamburg Rathaus, is a magnificent neo-Renaissance building that serves as the seat of the city's government. Constructed in 1866, it features opulent state rooms and a vaulted hallway. Visitors can take guided tours to admire its beautiful decor and paintings. The building is adorned with 16 sandstone pillars and over 60 portraits of significant figures in Hamburg's history.
The former Hamburg city hall was destroyed by fire in 1842 and was rebuilt more than 40 years later at its current location. The current new city hall was completed in 1897.
The city hall is very beautiful. Guided tours of the city hall are well worth taking, as you can enter areas not open to the general public and hear many interesting stories.
Currently, Hamburg's mayor's office, as well as the meeting rooms of the parliament and senate, are located in the city hall.
In one of the city hall's rooms, there is a large painting depicting the scene when the Speaker led a group of councillors into the new city hall after its completion. At that time, everyone wore neat formal attire. According to the tour guide, that formal attire was handed down through generations, was very heavy and difficult to clean, and is no longer in use.
The most beautiful room in the city hall is where the mayor meets with the administrative departments. In front of the doors of the room are two statues of goddesses representing justice and mercy respectively. On the door frame was written in German: GOTT MIT UNS., which means God is with us. Some abbreviations SPQH were seen outside the room. The tour guide explained that this was a reference to the Roman abbreviation SPQR. In Roman times, SPQR represented the Roman Senate and People. We think SPQH probably stands for Senate and People of Hamburg.

Absolutely do the guided tour. Frau Sabine Bendig led our group in English and it was amazing. Each room is so beautiful and meaningful right from the wallpapers to the busts and paintings. It's classy and rich without being gaudy.
Beautiful parliament building in the heart of city.
Be sure to walk through the side, there is a beach fountain in a courtyard. The construction is incredible and the detail statues and adornments are incredible. You can enter the budding behind the fountain and enjoy the restraint located beneath the building.

The Hamburg Rathaus is one of the most impressive buildings I’ve seen. Its exterior is breathtaking, full of detailed decorations and bronze statues that reflect the city’s rich history. The facade is lined with figures of emperors, kings, and traditional professions like blacksmiths, tailors, and gardeners, which beautifully connect the city’s governance with everyday life. The tall towers and elegant stonework create a sense of grandeur. It’s a perfect spot for photos, especially when the sunlight highlights the carvings and sculptures. Simply standing in front of it gives you a true feeling of Hamburg’s history and pride
I visited the Hamburg Rathaus in 2023 and it is one of the most impressive places in the city if you are into architecture. The building is truly imposing, with a massive façade and fine details that make it stand out even more, catching your eye as soon as you arrive. The central tower is very tall and can be seen from many points in the city center.
Right outside the Rathaus on the Rathausmarkt there is a bronze scale model of Hamburg — a great little landmark to check out.

Amazing place with a unique experience that lets you walk through different parts of the globe. I loved how much attention to detail was put into everything, and the design often includes funny little scenarios—like taking a bath with a penguin or the sheep pyramid! It’s incredibly creative, yet the landscapes still feel realistic.
The night and day versions of the cities are a very cool twist. Also, all the robotics and technology behind the functioning train system—without any crashes—is mind-blowing. I especially enjoyed getting a behind-the-scenes look at the newest addition.
One thing to note: it’s a huge place to explore, so plan your visit accordingly to give yourself enough time to enjoy it without rushing from room to room. It can also get quite busy, so be patient and dedicate a full day if possible. There’s a café and food area if you want to take a break during your visit.
Definitely recommend it! I’d love to come back and get even more lost in the details.
Absolutely one of the best attractions in Hamburg — and honestly, one of the most impressive exhibits I’ve ever seen. Miniatur Wunderland is massive and filled with astonishing detail. Most Germanic (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) countries and regions have their own area, complete with moving trains, planes, ships, lights, and tiny human stories happening everywhere you look.
You could easily spend 3–4 hours here and still not catch everything. It’s not just for model train fans — it’s for anyone who appreciates creativity, craftsmanship, and a bit of magic. The nighttime lighting effects, airports, and little surprises hidden throughout make it incredibly fun for both kids and adults.
It can get crowded, so I recommend booking a time slot early in the morning or later in the evening if you can. There’s a café inside with good snacks and drinks for a quick break between sections.
Truly a must-see — whether you’re visiting Hamburg for a day or a week, Miniatur Wunderland is worth every minute.

Wanted to see this for years and now I've ticked it iff my bucket list! This is hands down the BEST minature railway and car layout you'll ever see! So much to see, you can easily spend all day here! Don't bring the missus, that will only reduce your fun! Definitely get tickets in advance, they sell out quick!
Its easy to see why this is fast becoming the top attraction in Hamburg. Its so much fun and that's consistent with everyone whonis wondering about around you. So much detail that ypu definitely need a visit to the bistro to allow your eyes and brain to catch up. Fantastic day out for everyone. Go. You will be talking about it for a while to come.
As a model railway enthusiast, I have been looking forward to coming to Hamburg to visit Miniatur Wunderland and the truth is that it worth it!
I was delighted with the visit and I want to congratulate the whole team for all the impressive work that goes into every part of the model! The technique, the operation, the quality of the details, I love everything in general, especially the airport!! I also really enjoyed being able to eat in the Miniatur Wunderland restaurant.
I am sure that in the future I will definitely visit this wonderful place again!

A nice symphony of light and music in a beautiful garden/park. Be there at least one hour before the evening show, as it quickly gets crowded in the summer and vacation times. Bring some food and drinks and enjoy a 30 minute show for free.
What a peaceful park in the middle of the city center!
It’s easy to reach by public transport. You can walk, run, or sit on the benches while watching the sunset. The atmosphere is calm, with many ponds and lovely birds. People walk their dogs, and it feels very relaxing. I ate my salad here and rested for a while. The botanical garden was temporarily closed, but the park is still beautiful and definitely worth a visit.
Big and great park! Some flaws though; Many of the parts of the park were very worn and there was no water in many of the places designed for water. In all, though, a very nice place! Fantastic "rooms" of plants to discover. I highly recomend a visit when in Hamburg!
Very lovely park for a walk during a beautiful, warm summer's day. Highly recommend it if you need a little breather from the city and need to see some pretty nature and maybe have an ice cream or so from one of the the nearby stalls.
Beautiful park with Beautiful landscape. You can find different terrains and multiple varieties of plants and flowers. The water ponds and sitting areas are great. Perfect for small picnic and children friendly. We saw light show which starts at 10pm and runs for 30 mins with different melodies.
What a beautiful park right in the city, very well cared for and tidy. Beautiful rose garden, Japanese and generally lovely planting and displays. Toilets are excellent and clean and they take contactless .
Nice picnic style of visit. Take your mat along so you can sit on the grass and get a good view of the 30 mins show. Do sit as close to the water to hear the announcement and the music while the lights and water jets do their dance.

Nice church, huge, very grand and spectacular. Our timing could have been better, they were having service on Easter so we didn't see much of the inside. But it looked like it was certainly worth experiencing both inside and out. Would have loved to have been able to go up the tower and see the crypt!

I would highly recommend visiting St Michael's church as the view from the top of the tower is probably the best in the city!
To go up there is a small side building to buy your tickets and any souvenirs you may want, we only got the tower tickets at around €8 each. To get there you have to climb a few sets of stairs before reaching the main elevator to the top.
Once on top of the tower you'll have full 360 panoramic views of the city, just beware the bell does still ring up the top and it made my friends and I jump!
St. Michael’s Church is a must-visit in Hamburg! We went up the tower – it’s the highest viewpoint in the city, and the view is absolutely stunning. The entry fee is only 8 euros, which is honestly a bargain for such a breathtaking panorama. There were quite a few people, but the elevator made the climb easy and fast. Totally worth it!

We had a blast at St. Michael's Church today! The view from the tower of Hamburg was incredible. There is an elevator but be sure to either walk up or take the stairs down so you can see the tower clock mechanics! The crypt wasn't great, but seeing CPE Bach's burial spot was awesome, especially for a music lover. 😉 The church itself is gorgeous, and we even got to hear an organ concert with all three main instruments. The acoustics were amazing – like a 5-second reverb! Go on a Saturday morning by 11:30 for the noon concert/service.
Impressive in scale and beauty. Amazing inside and out, with a very large pipe organ. It must be an amazing experience when that is being played.
We were lucky to catch a concert rehearsal, which filled the chamber with beautiful music.

there was a festival at the day I arrived, so it was really crowded, full of people everywhere, but after that it was so peaceful there, the air was fresh and the water was clean, it was just so nice to sit there and enjoy the sunshine, both day and night views were so beautiful!! Hamburg is definitely one of my favorite places in Europe!
The port is just huge! We took a tour on a boat for 20€ in order to admire the majesty of the cranes and the huge ships parked on the deck being loaded by containers. There are so many things to see but you need a guide to get the full experience

Seeing water flow around is satisfying and very beautiful, Hamburg was such a good experience.
Go to the elbphilharmonie and watch the beautiful view of the port of Hamburg and entrance is free, if you have kids you can use the lift, if you boat trip at night is a bonus and costs around 20€, then a bus trip during the day also costed around 18€ for 2 hours and I must say everything was worth it
One of the most beautiful poet I have ever been. Its is so lively, you can see tons of containers, cruise ships. If you are going to Germany, make sure to add hamburg harbour in your to do list and also, have a cruise tour. Its really worth trying.
One of the favorite places for a sunday stroll. Plenty things to see. Make sure to catch the ferry 62 for a round trip on the river allowing you to see things from different perspective. Moreover there are plenty of places to eat a nice "Fischbrötchen"!
One of the biggest and most important ports in Northern Europe. A must see when in a Hamburg. Place is really cool and if you’re in luck you’ll catch 2 musicians jamming and rocking some tunes like we found. Don’t leave Hamburg without seeing it!

I had a fantastic experience walking through the Old Elbtunnel! It only takes about 10 minutes to walk from one side to the other, and the views when you reach the other side are really cool. The tunnel itself has a unique charm. Best of all, it's completely free! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hamburg.

We took ship tour instead of strolling along the pier. Thereby we could have an overall idea about the harbor area and came with some great buildings to appreciate. For instance, Elbphilharmonie ! 🙂
Beautiful spot next to the South entrance of the Alter Elb Tunnel, and perfect if you want a panoramic view to the Hamburg waterfront on the North Side.
If you’re up for it, you can also go and see the other photo spot next to the “Stage Theater An Der Elbe”, 20 minutes on foot. That will bring you closer to the Elbphilharmonie building.
One of the best hidden gems in Hamburg! You can walk here through the historic Elbtunnel or take a short ferry ride from Landungsbrücken. Once there, you get an amazing panoramic view of the harbor, the Elbphilharmonie, and the city skyline.
Perfect spot for a quiet break, photos, or just watching ships go by. It’s peaceful and not too touristy. Highly recommend if you’re exploring the harbor area!

It was very impressive walking through the tunnel and ending up on the side to the viewpoint and seeing the seaport from the other side. It's a must-see when you visit Hamburg.

We came early and had time to explore without too many other people there.
We found a few good buys and had a nice couple of ours as a family and with a 6 year old child who especially enjoyed decorating her new Clogs, the playground and the cute decor around the outlet
It is not very big, but it is an Outlet Center with most stores that can meet your needs. There are not many options for eating and drinking, there are a couple of different options. Also, the internet doesn't work in general for some reason :)

One of the best places for shopping but unfortunately after 20:00 o clock the Tesla super chargers outside of the same area cause of outlet being closed you cant use the tesla supercharger so don’t waste your battery and your time

Always enjoyable, so many saunas to choose from and new areas being created. It can get full on weekends & holidays (or, in this case, during a holiday week). There was a line to get in but this was the first time I’ve experienced a line. And even outside and in the saunas, it was not overcrowded. There are 7 saunas, between 45C - 100C, offering many infusions per day. There is a nice place to grab a bite in the sauna world or several fast-food type places in the swimming area. Highly recommended!

Nice place to relax, especially with children. It’s very warm everywhere, which makes it quite cozy. However, the whole experience is significantly affected by the following issues:
• Mediocre food at best, for premium prices. Bringing your own food is forbidden, yet you’re expected to pay 10+ euros for a Currywurst and fries (“Sparmenü”). I wouldn’t complain if the food quality and taste were acceptable.
• Changing is challenging. There are very few changing rooms, which are not practical for families. As a result, you may end up having to change in the open areas.
• Too few lockers for valuables. By noon, I found all of them already occupied.
Overall, I found that the experience fell short in a few areas compared to the advertising. It feels a bit run-down, yet you’re expected to pay premium prices. Around 100€ per day for two adults and two kids is typical.
Absolutely amazing! Thank me of the top indoor/outdoor pools in Germany. We went here expecting to just spend 2-3hrs. We ended up staying the whole day. Plenty of fun’s for the kids. The saunas are phenomenal. Highly recommend. Recommend bringing your own towels and robes for the sauna. But you can also rent them for a small fee.
Our favourite family place. Very peaceful during the workdays. Plenty of amenities for all. Clean and well organised. Personnel is friendly and very helpful. External pool is amazing during night. Sauna world is a great place to relax. Strongly recommend this place for families. Couples should try sauna world in winter.

Suggested to come at the opening hours, tends to get very full during midday. Also, it is advised to order lunch before 12:00, because the wait times get long. Otherwise top when it comes up cleanliness and service.
Everything was ver nice! That is the most clean wellness center I have ever seen, of course we went on a Monday which is not so crowded but still you can see they take care of the place! The stuff was very polite and helpful and I loved how the place has so many different styles to relax! Also the price is quite fair for what you get! I am taking one star away because the sauna programs was like everything the same ,boring and never on time! We were there sitting and waiting for the people to come slowly and make the program! Also there was no rule for staying quiet as a result some rude people to talk o laugh loud and none of the stuff do anything! Bit annoying! And one more reason that the bar was a little expensive! I mean 2,40€ for a small glass tap water is waaay too much! Above all that was a place I highly recommend and you should try

Heide Park Resort is the largest theme park in northern Germany, covering a massive 850,000m2 area with thrilling rides suitable for the whole family. From adrenaline-pumping roller coasters like Krake and Colossus to family-friendly attractions such as Wildwasserbahn and Indie-blitz, there's something for everyone. The park has reopened after the pandemic with safety measures in place, making it a fantastic experience for all ages.
It's a great entertainment center. It's in the middle of the forest, far from the city center. It's between Hamburg and Bremen. It's a 20-minute walk from Wolterdingen train station. It has a nice theme hotel inside. The hotel food is average, a little below average, but still not bad. The amusement park also has food options, which are below average. The entertainment starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. for everyone. Hotel guests can enter half an hour early but can only queue. The attractions also start at 10 p.m. Wait times are on average 20-30 minutes. Wait times for ages 8 and under are shorter, around 5 minutes. If you're quick, you can visit and enjoy one attraction in one day. If you take it slow, it even takes two days. It's a must-see for anyone with children aged 12-29. The park design, roller coasters, and themes are all excellent. It would be great if they upgraded the food service as well.

I haven't been here in years. We arrived right when it opened and stayed until closing time. I was looking forward to coming here, and I was not disappointed. We had such a great time! The weather was mixed, which was good, as it meant that the crowds were not that large and the wait times were reduced. I went on every rollercoaster, and some even several times. The food was pretty good, too. I bought a few souvenirs and I must say the prices are really not that bad compared to other theme parks I have been to.
I was still smiling the next day!

The only roller-coaster I would NOT recommend is the double-loop one. Headache machine.
It is a great place to spend with the family. We visited the amusement park in the middle of the week. It was great to see it is not crowed and waiting times were between 10 to max 30min for the main attractions. It makes it really enjoyable not like other parks with super long waiting time and too many people that you hardly can breath. The restaurants inside offer various dishes and the quality was good, a bit pricey though which is normal in such a park. The only thing, some of the staff or instructor at some attractions were not really friendly. They might forgot where they work.
The access to the park by car from Hamburg less than an hour was very fine. The parking space very well available. The access by public transport is a bit long though.
It is a recommended place to visit. There are entertainment available for almost all ages.
It was a really quiet day when we were there so easy to get on any ride we wanted. Everything seemed in good working order although it needed a bit of freshening up after the summer season (we were there in late September). The were still plenty of options for eating and things were reasonably priced (for a theme park!).
The ride staff were great and interacted with our children well (our children don’t speak German). Because it was quieter, they allowed us and others to just keep riding those rides without a line.

I've been to the Heide Park twice now and I can only recommend it!! Yes, it is kinda expensive but isn't every adventure park? Heide Park has a lot of different rollercoasters, which are all really exciting!! You also have a big wheel 🎡 !! Something that I think is really cool is the fact that the Heide Park has different "scenes". You walk through different worlds and it's truly fascinating!! It's a relly cool place to visit! ^^

The rides are more geared towards younger people. The rides are really cool. A great place to spend time with the family.
We came from far away especially for this park, as we had promised our little daughter.
We had been here before, and she really enjoyed it and wanted to return.
We entered the park, and immediately a heavy downpour began. We went into the shop at the entrance and waited for an hour. The rain didn’t stop.
We approached customer service and asked to postpone our tickets to the following day — our request was denied.
We waited another hour and tried, for our daughter’s sake, to continue through the park. We were soaked to the bone, and all the rides were closed.
There was absolutely no way to fulfill our promise to her. Apart from walking around in the rain, there was nothing to do!
I contacted customer service by email, hoping they would show some flexibility and let us enter on another day. But no — that's their policy, with no exceptions.
After about two hours, with no sign of the rain stopping, we simply left. The disappointment for our daughter — and for us — was indescribable.
It’s truly a shame that this is how children are treated. We, the parents, pay full admission just so the kids can have fun, and the park didn’t even take this small step to accommodate us by allowing a replacement visit. What a pity!

Bird park with 675 species, from hummingbirds to condors, penguins to parrots, plus botanic gardens.
Truly excellent park! The birds and other animals are well cared for and appear to be very happy and healthy. The gardens and enclosures are very well maintained and presented, bravo to the staff! Please give yourself as many hours possible to take in as much off the park as possible as it is much bigger and more diverse than you can imagine. Loved every minute we spent in here.

It is very cool to see many plenty of birds there. Very interesting and it is also a fun activities for the kids. The ticket costs 22.90 Euro in Summer time.
Amazing experience. So many amazing creatures the nature created in one spot. Of course it feels a bit sad to see the birds in cages, but it also feels this parc does everything to protect the animals and to make life for them as good as possible.

We had an absolutely wonderful visit this August. We had prebooked the penguin feeding and got to meet them up close together with a very welcoming zookeeper. We can only recommend a visit here, it's worth the trip.
Beautiful birdies and lovely variation of wildlife, I recommend purchasing a ticket online as they only accept credit cards if you pay by card, and plan your visit in the morning cause there's so much to see.

The ferry ride across is really nice. My kids really found it fun. The ferry also several clean toilets, which was a total bonus. There is also a small observation deck. Prior to getting on the ferry there is small snackbar, including a small fish n'chips shop at the parking lot before. The downside is the waiting time! The queue is far too long, in summer time expect to wait at least one hour. Another point is the road to and from the ferry is horrible, as it's just regular country and city roads.
Cost 8.50 to take a car + driver , which I think is ok, waiting times can be very long , I had to wait 40 minutes but later in the day it was over 2 hours wait (they usually announce on the website when waitings are over one hour and also on the radio (NDR ) If waitings gets longer,
But if you aren't in a hurry and for example as me are heading west from the north this is a nice alternative to going on the A7 and does save quite a few miles.

We had the "Evening with Wolves at the Winter Solstice" package. The actual wolf experience was great, but definitely not for small children! The weather was very cold and our group was all adults braving the storm to see these wolves devour a whole deer -- like I said, a great experience. But if you are coming with children, maybe check out the Meet&Greet package instead.
Some small functionalities that made the experience much better were:
1) We had a private room and a seperated bathroom. The bathroom was pretty clean and came with disinfectant spray, which definitely made it more comfortable.
2) The Purell hand sanitizer dispensers were actually filled and working!
3) The rooms have a small kitchenette, we should have definitely gotten more food or snacks with us. They also had a coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster, and fridge with small freezer. We brought teabags and it was a very good call. And it also had salt, vinegar, sugar, dish detergent, clean sponges, etc!
4) All of the wall sockets have pre-installed child covers! Such a small but great feature.
5) We had a grill dinner included but the sausages were either pork or vegetarian, so we asked if we could bring our own. They were very accomodating and grilled our sausages quickly, put them in a different tray and we got to eat our food happily :)
6) Whenever we had questions, the staff went out of their way to resolve the underlying problem, rather than just respond. We were low on cash and asked for help finding an ATM (which they didn't have) but the woman we asked then gave some other solutions until we found one that worked! They really go the extra mile.
Some things to be aware of:
1) Pack slippers or some sort of house shoes, I wish we had known that! Would have made the experience much better. Maybe even add more functional items to the gift shop or as a vending machine to the housing area!! Stocking with simple cheap 'hotel' items like shampoo bars, house slippers, snacks...
2) Bring your own coffee, tea bags, etc for after the event! Maybe the restaurant was open but after several hours in the cold, we just wanted to lie down with some tea. We brought some tea bags and snacks but we could have done even more. I'm sure people who are gluten free or have severe allergies will be happy to have a space where they can make extra food.
3) Bring cash!!! You can pay with card in the restaurant and gift shop, but if you are thinking of coming by bus, just get a taxi instead from the Dörverden train station. The number is shown next to the bus stop and it's about 16 euros one way. Much easier.
In short, this isn't a cheap experience, and it isn't something super quick to do. In summer it looks like they have a lot of good activities, like a gold rush themed dig and some other unique exhibitions. It's a great gift for the wolf-obsessed person in your life and it's also a good weekend getaway, but I would really recommend against trying to cut costs on something like this. Better to just get the package, take your time, and enjoy all the little things that come your way.

Wolfcenter will long remain amongst some of the best places I have ever visited.
Seeing the wolves up close, less than a metre away was simply breathtaking. They all seem well looked after and just please themselves in their enclosures. They are not shy of people and will sit, stand and lay extremely close to the fencing - looking right at visitors and being quite content.
In addition to the wolves, the centre also offers the chance to see other species of animals such as goats, foxes, alpacas and prairie dogs.
As well as the live animals there is a really well made museum & exhibition, lots of information boards placed on the enclosures, a restaurant, and a gift shop on site.

It’s amazing to see wolfs and other animals in this camp. Very interesting for the adults and kids. Sadly that we can enjoy this communication with animals through the net. There is a show with an eagle and feeding the wolfs. You can enjoy simply food in the cafe.

Amazing place. Super friendly staff, incredibly flexible and accommodating. The night in the Tippi was an adventure, falling asleep and waking up to the howling wolves. The room was very clean and simple, but well equipped. Overall impeccable facilities. Strongly recommend!

While on a short holiday we popped into the wolf center and took a guided tour , they fed and explained habits of the wolves. While on tour we were allowed to tour Wolfcenter’s lodging. They are small rooms on stilts, putting you in an over head view of the wolf habitats. The lady explained that lots of newlyweds come here for their honeymoon. Typically accommodations, coffee maker, microwave etc in rooms . Definitely worth the stop of traveling near by.
Great wolf conservation center. Very educative and for an extra fee you can feed the wolves or gain access to the photo hatches.

Magnificently artistic! Bremen Town Hall (Bremer Rathaus) is one of the most beautiful examples of brick Gothic and Weser Renaissance in Europe and has rightly been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004. Around 1400, when Bremen's development was at its peak, a new town hall was planned on the initiative of mayor Johan Hemeling and councillors Friedrich Wigger and Hinrich von der Trupe. Between 1405 and 1410, a Gothic "Saalgeschossbau" (hall building) was built on the northeast side of Bremen's Marktplatz, right in front of the archbishop's palace. A clear demonstration of the city's self-confidence in relation to ecclesiastical authority. The lavishly decorated façade of the town hall features statues of Charlemagne and the seven prince-electors, demonstrating Bremen's claim to being a free imperial city. The Renaissance brought several modifications: between 1545 and 1550 an extension with three floors, containing a new Wittheits-Stube and offices, was built between the town hall and the archbishop's palace. In 1595-1596 the front façade was modified for the first time: the Gothic windows with their typical pointed arches were replaced by large rectangular windows. Between 1608 and 1612, during the second modification, the front façade was given its Weserrenaissance appearance: the two middle windows and the proclamation door were replaced by a huge avant-corps (a facade extension) crowned with a Flemish gable. The baroque extension from 1682/83 is best visible on the corner where the statue of the Bremer Stadtmusikanten stands. With the German mediatisation of 1803 the archbishop's palace fell to the municipality of Bremen, and in 1818/19 it was partly dismantled and rebuilt as a neoclassical "Stadthaus" (municipal city hall). The enormous population growth in the 19th century and Wilhelminism made it necessary to enlarge the town hall. Thus the "Stadthaus" was demolished and between 1919 and 1913 the "Neues Rathaus" was built, a neo-Renaissance creation by the architect Gabriel von Seidl. All in all, Bremen today has a magnificent building complex that is not only very beautiful, but also represents the centuries-long development of civil autonomy in the Holy Roman Empire.

Such a beautiful and old town hall. Inside and out, this building is just amazing. The entry fee is €9 per person. The English tour starts at 12 p.m on Monday (not sure about other days), and the tour guide is very knowledgeable and friendly. If you're visiting Bremen, then you should also visit Bremen Town Hall. You won't regret it.
Our guide spoke perfect English and explained the history with many funny and interesting stories. The magic was that the building was not damaged during WW2 and has wonderfully intricate plaster, wood work and tiles..

This is a must see statue depicting the most famous chapter of the story where the animal musicians scare away the robbers by creating a scary and noisy creature. It is best to (re-)read the short story first to get a better feel for the statue.
We went before 8am and we were the only one there. It was peaceful and we had good morning light. We went later in the day as our traveling mascot, Pedals Puffin, wanted to see if he could join the musicians but alas he didn’t fit in the lineup. We had to wait in turn to get his photo opportunity.

The Market Square is the heart of the city of Bremen. It is a very beautiful old square, a favorite place for both locals and tourists to relax. Here you can find the famous statue of the Bremen Musicians. During my stay, a music festival was taking place.
I highly recommend all tourists to visit and see this beautiful place.
What a wonderful pit stop on the way to Amsterdam from Hamburg. Standing in the middle of the square while the church tower was ringing was magical. So beautiful, makes you feel like you went back in time.
All the famous attractions in one spot, so if you just want to do the must sees, this is it. St Petri Dom, Böttcherstrasse, the Muscians, the Loch, the Rathaus - all in or just off the square. Other than one small souvenir kiosk, it is not at all touristy and certainly wasn’t crowded on a Monday at 11am. Easy to get to via public transport.

The Market Square is the heart of the city of Bremen. It is a very beautiful old square, a favorite place for both locals and tourists to relax. Here you can find the famous statue of the Bremen Musicians. During my stay, a music festival was taking place.
I highly recommend all tourists to visit and see this beautiful place.
What a wonderful pit stop on the way to Amsterdam from Hamburg. Standing in the middle of the square while the church tower was ringing was magical. So beautiful, makes you feel like you went back in time.
All the famous attractions in one spot, so if you just want to do the must sees, this is it. St Petri Dom, Böttcherstrasse, the Muscians, the Loch, the Rathaus - all in or just off the square. Other than one small souvenir kiosk, it is not at all touristy and certainly wasn’t crowded on a Monday at 11am. Easy to get to via public transport.

The Bremen Christmas Market is absolutely enchanting — one of the most beautiful festive experiences I’ve ever had! The whole city comes alive with sparkling lights, the smell of roasted almonds, mulled wine, and gingerbread filling the air. The market stalls are full of unique handmade gifts, traditional German treats, and beautiful decorations that make it impossible not to feel the Christmas spirit.
The historic setting in the old town adds to the charm, especially around the stunning Bremen Town Hall and Roland statue. Everyone is so friendly, and there’s a real sense of warmth and joy everywhere you go. Whether you’re sipping hot chocolate, listening to carol singers, or admiring the lights by the river, it truly feels like stepping into a Christmas fairy tale.

As you explore, you'll experience changes in temperature from the German North Sea Coast to the rainforest in tropical Cameroon, with each zone providing a multisensory experience of sounds, smells, and scenery.
This is an awesome place. There is so much here to enjoy - you can spend the whole day there and still not see everything. I went with my friend, four kids (6-11 years old) and a baby in a pram. It's a shame there isn't a ticket option that allows multiple entries since kids can get over-tired and distracted so they wouldn't necessarily last the whole day and I wouldn't mind another visit next time I'm in the area. However, it is really fun to explore, there are a lot of interesting exhibits, and it is fine for English speakers too. There is a pram-friendly route throughout but unfortunately it can be quite difficult to re-join your group if you get separated because you can't go up the stairs. There is poor mobile phone reception in some areas and the lifts and stairs don't seem to be near each other so it's a good idea to all stick together if it's important for your group. Tickets are fairly expensive but worthwhile if you are able to come early, stay the whole day and take full advantage of everything there is to see and do.

The museum is extremely well designed, arranged and maintained.
The different climates are brilliant and the spaces they are contained within are very immersive; at times you even forget you’re in a building.
Photos do not do justice to the areas - this is a place that must be experienced in person.
A very resourceful place. Creatively worked out to convey the messages. Kids above 8 will understand the concepts more, and will be interesting for them only. From cost point of view, the place is very economic for family visit. Backpacks not allowed during the visit. Safes are available self storage.

I enjoyed this Museum very much. Especially the arctic and the extreme weather exihibion.
We spent 4.5 hours but still did not cover everything. It is the best thing to do on a rainy day. My kids learned so much but also due to its interactive nature they were not once bored. We stopped for a break at the restaurant ( cafe was closed ) , this is for sure nothing to write about… we also did the extreme weather exhibition which we enjoyed for it’s educational value. I recommend it for the whole family. We drive from Hamburg especially to visit KlimaHaus
The experience was good, but I recommend it only if you have children. I was there with my girlfriend and we had fun, but we expected more excitement. The rooms are pretty small, but full of details and information and voice instructions. A little bit expensive 18 euro for after 15:00 clock and 20 euro for anytime of the day. For children it is 10-12 euro.

Great museum, lots of interactive stations to learn about emigration in general and to follow the story of the emigrate you were given. Explains the entire story from the many reasons for leaving, the travel and how it changed, arriving in the new countries, and fitting in once you did. Very well done and enjoyable!

The entire exhibition is interactive, so you don’t just observe — you participate. This place is probably my favorite museum to date. If you have ancestors who came from Europe you will probably enjoy this museum very much. I spent 6 hours just in the emigration portion and could have spent more. Ensure you save time for some research, if that interests you. I spent a little over an hour there and they chased me out at 6:00, closing time.
Absolutely amazing museum, especially interesting for immigrants, but also anyone interested in the history of emigration.
The rooms allow you to feel like you're immigrating to another continent, replicating the atmosphere of the time and journey. You also get your own card of immigrant to follow their fate, investigating the reasons, process and results of their immigration.
There is a lot of information, inserted in atmospheric interiors. For example, you open a tab in the basin to read about daily life on a ship they used to cross the ocean.
Audioguide is included and is very helpful. All info is both in German and in English.
To take pictures you need to pay an extra 1,5 euros.

The museum is fully accessible (at least for a stroller) with the only exception of one of the toilets. You have to start by coming to an elevator with a staff member, but all the other elevators are easy to find and use.

Spanning 30,000 square meters of hauntingly recreated ship decks, cramped steerage bunks, and sun-dappled Ellis Island arrivals, it doesn't tell history—it immerses you in it, wave by relentless wave.
We wandered (or rather, time-traveled) through the exhibits with hearts pounding: the tearful goodbyes in a mock 19th-century Bremerhaven pier, the salt-sprayed crossings where seasick immigrants clutched faded letters, and those raw tales of endurance—famine-fleeing Irish, pogrom-escaping Jews, dream-chasing Germans like my own kin. Interactive kiosks breathed life into yellowed documents, and holographic storytellers spun personal sagas that blurred the line between exhibit and epiphany. But the gut-punch? The passenger search database.
Fingers trembling over the touchscreen, I punched in details from family whispers—age 22, boarding solo from a Hessian village in 1907—and there she was, immortalized on the ship's manifest: "Occupation: Servant. Traveling alone." The details hit like a rogue wave—her ticket number, the scrawled "healthy" stamp, the sheer audacity of a young woman crossing alone as a mail-order bride, heart full of hope and letters from a stranger waiting stateside. The most didactical museum you can imagine. It has a clear political program. Totally overcrowded and the museum does not miss any opportunity to educate you. The creepy life size migrants are more like a part of an experience park than a museum
One of the top 3 museums in Germany. This was my second visit and the experience was again very personal and interactive. I always recommend everyone to visit it and live the story of a person on their most important journey.

Really interesting zoo placed at harbor area in Bremen Haven. Many animals and sea life are to see there and you need some time to come around and see everything. It is also possible to sit down and have a drink or buy some souvenirs.
I really enjoyed this visit. It was so cool to be able to bring our dog somewhere with us. We got some gorgeous photos of him here to remember our trip. The restaurant food was delicious and not too expensive.
There are some really cool underwater viewing points for the seals and penguins. The seals were very entertaining and seemed to be having a lot of fun playing.
The gift shop is very small and not much choice.
I didn't realize there were polar bears here until I got here which I don't love. I probably wouldn't have come if I knew that, although, they will probably only exist in zoos by 2050 as I read on their display.

Good zoo, although a bit small, they made good use of the space. In general I am always concerned that by going to the zoo I am supporting something I disagree with. However, I do know that often these animals can not be released and have in most cases been rescued from a worse fate. I got the impression that this zoo does care about the animals and that they are treated well. The areas were clean and the animals looked healthy and clean. My children enjoyed the educational aspects of their visit and the admission cost was very reasonable.
Bremerhaven Zoo is a comparatively small zoo on a waterfront. It is barely a few hundred metres across, but features enough exhibits to allow you to enjoy a visit there for a few hours.
The highlight has to be the polar bears. We saw three of them, and their enclosure was massive, with plenty of features and hide away areas for them to hang out in.
There were also seals, sea lions, penguins, and other cute creatures. There were plenty of descriptions of all the animals, as well as the threats some of their species face to their future.
There was also an aquarium with a display of various marine animals, all well lit and dazzling to look at.
The enclosures for some of the animals do look a bit small, but there do seem to be areas for them that you can't easily notice.
There is the mandatory gift shop, but this is always good to purchase from as this helps the zoo. There is a good cafe as well, as well as good facilities.
The zoo is nicely placed in a great setting which allows for great photos. It is also great for kids due to its size, and good fun. Highly recommended.

Such a lovely place! I really enjoyed walking around and just soaking in the peaceful, nature-filled vibe the Aquarium created.
Nice area. It's not that big, but if people spend there only 30mins I can image how they visit a zoo or museum. Watch everything 30secs and then move on - in no real interest.
For all else, there's lots of information about the animals, the environment and their habitats.
We spend more than 2 hours there, even though we visited the prehistoric part very fast.

Aquarium is quite small but nice. In the beginning it was more like a museum than aquarium, but later on it got better. It is definitely too expansive for what it has to offer. Hence the three stars.
There was only one ray and one sea turtle. The bird section is quite nice, kids really enjoyed it.

This aquarium is absolutely brilliant. Visited with my husband, sister, brother in law and nephew on a visit from Australia and it was a real highlight! Positioned next to the North Sea with a cafe attached that has a panaromic view while you eat, this is a must visit! Staff lovely and the gift shop was wonderful.
For what seems like a small building they do really pack a lot in for you to see! There are lots of things to look at including a whole room with fossils and creatures that haven't evolved much (like horseshoe crabs). The seal tank was a favorite as you can see the seals swim against the glass and then go to the top of the aquarium and see them from the top playing in the water. Our whole family enjoyed it and already our children are asking when we can go again.
Went on a weekend. Polite staff and well organised museum. Little ones can enjoy a lot.

One of the best Museum experiences. Spend almost 2-3hours inside and every minute was exited for me especially the Submarine experience is super awesome. War ships are maintained very well and show how equipped they are. Location is near by strand only walkable distance.

German Naval Museum in Wilhelmshaven is a great place to visit to understand and gather information about the German naval history, possibly the best way to vividly experience everyday life at sea in a naval vessel. The exhibits are well maintained, and it takes about 2-3 hrs to view all the naval vessels and other exhibits (indoor and outdoor). The war ships including the missile destroyer Mölders and the submarine U-10 are particularly impressive. My understanding is that regular maintenance is conducted by former crew members. You can also watch video documentation of them describing their experiences and impressions on board.
