Kuusijärvi

Nature & Parks
Parks
Kuusijärvi, located just north of Helsinki in Vantaa, is a popular year-round recreational center offering various activities for families and visitors. In the summer, it's known for its excellent swimming facilities and sandy beach, while in winter, it offers cross-country skiing opportunities. One of its highlights is the public smoke sauna called Savusauna, providing a unique experience for visitors to enjoy the sauna before cooling off with a swim in Lake Kuusijarvi.
Feeling bored??? Pack your swimming costumes and head for this place. You can go swimming, do grilling, have fun in sauna, play outdoor sports, lay on the beach for the warmth of the sun, opt for a walk and so on. You can literally have fun in way more options you will find here. You will enjoy more with your own buddies or hang out with anyone as well. Loved every bit of time here.
SHWETA C — Google review
Ice skated in the lake with a layer of thin snow and thick ice, very nice 🙌🙌
Daffa B — Google review
The smoke saunas are truly authentic, and we met plenty of locals while we were there, which is always a good sign. It is very easy to reach by public transport and also makes the perfect stop after a hike on one of the many beautiful nearby trails. Practical tip: Bring your flip-flops and shower gel, though both are available for purchase on site. You can also rent towels if needed. A word about timing: The smoke sauna opens at 2 pm, and the temperature gradually drops throughout the day. Because it is heated in the traditional way, there is no thermostat, so the temperature cannot be controlled or predicted precisely. Early in the day, around 3 pm, it can reach up to 135°C (275°F), which most people would find far too intense. By the end of the day, it may drop to around 50°C (122°F), which could feel a bit too mild. From what we gathered, the sweet spot tends to be between 4 and 7 pm for most people, but it really depends on the day. If the smoke sauna happens to be too hot or not hot enough during your visit, the electric saunas in the main building are excellent. There are two for men, and we assume there are also two for women. Each one has its own character and charm. They are designed in an authentic Finnish way and offer a great alternative or complement to the smoke sauna. Important to know: Swimsuits are required in the smoke sauna and in all outdoor areas, including when cooling down in the lake. In the electric gender-separated saunas, however, you are not supposed to wear anything and are expected to use a seat pad. We went in naked, but we did notice that even some locals kept their swimsuits on, so it seems you are free to wear whatever makes you most comfortable. The lake itself is lovely. It has a few clearly marked very shallow areas, ideal for children or anyone who prefers not to go too deep. But most of the lake is deeper, especially by the wooden deck, reaching about three to four metres, which is perfect for a proper swim. At just €16, it is truly excellent value. While visits are technically limited to two hours, the atmosphere is relaxed. No one is watching the clock, and you will not be rushed out if you stay a little longer. There is also a cosy café serving tasty food and drinks, which makes a perfect way to wind down after your sauna session.

I stay around 6kms away from this place. It’s just two months since I landed in Finland and this place has already attracted me so much. I have been to this place twice so far. I take a walk on the side of the woods, take the 1.8 kms lake circle walk, feel the fresh chill breeze, journal for sometime. I love the tranquility and calmness of this place. The nature at its best. There is a proper swimming partition on one side of the lake and there are free saunas available. You can see lots of people taking bath even in end of autumn and beginning of winter. When you visit here plan to spend some good amount of time. There is also a grill available outside on the other side, so if you wanna have some grills and enjoy the nature, its a perfect place.
Rajee J — Google review
One of the best Sauna I've ever been. I'll definitely come back one day.
T Y — Google review
Beautiful natural park where you can swimming, jogging or go sauna. There is also restaurant where you can buy drinks and food. Recommend to visit in summer time.
Michael A — Google review
I simply love this place - lake, the forest path and it's easy to come by bike here, cause of the straight asphalt road heading here. Grilling and swimming are always a big plus. PS If you do not tired you can explorer in the Sipoo National Park at the same shoot!

Willa Shopping Center

Shopping mall
Shopping
Large, modern mall offering many retailers, including department & grocery stores, plus cafes.
A beautiful place with all you can eat. The price level is more than acceptable, given the prices in the area. Great selection and amazing taste this place like me for a high position. I am very happy to come back here regularly.
Jan N — Google review
Lots of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and coffee-shops to easily spend your day.Good and spacious inside carparks. Visit and enjoy like we do quite often !;))
Lauri M — Google review
A one stop shopping centre for most of your home needs. From restaurants to pharmacy, specs shop, clothing and DNA phone provider, just to name a few. Likely also homing the nicest cafe in Hyvinkkää town, Kulmakonditoria. Parking is plenty of going by car. And it's easy to get to from the train station. Just one warning, personally found the mall a bit confusing to navigate particularly getting to/from the back side of it.
Maitte — Google review
Beautiful big shopping center with very standard mall brands. Nice place to hangout or to do the shopping. Quite big that even both Prisma and K- Citymarket both situated together. H&M, Gina Tricot and New Yorker etc cheaper fast fashion retailers available, and better premium brands such as Guess also situated here.
Mugi B — Google review
I love this place, especially vintage shop~! there is a lot of stuff and can find good products well :D also employees are kind. I go there quite often :D. I hope a lot of people know about that store. also I hope the store will be very active~!!!

Only bigger problem is that there is no info about the store and restaurants location. You don't find what you need.

The Finnish Railway Museum

Museum
Historical landmark
19th-century station & engine shed setting for railway history museum with rolling stock collection.
Very nice and a well arranged place. Many train models are exhibited. Exhibits are well preserved. Sound effects in the exhibition halls are really nice. Anyway, it's bit difficult to see inside of some trains due to dust accumulation on the windows. Overall, recommended for both kids and adults. there is a special area for kids for some activities too. And a tiny train operates across the garden during the summer. You can have a ride. Just a short walk from Hyvinkää railway station. Staff is very friendly.
Rehan M — Google review
Great view over the history of the Finnish railways. Many old locomotives to see. There's also a cafe outside with a possibility to hop on a small train that rides around the park area during the summer time and when it is dry.
Juho Ä — Google review
Great half-day trip from Helsinki! The Finnish Railway Museum is perfect for families with kids. The miniature train ride in the garden is a highlight. There’s also a fun indoor play area with wooden train sets, drawing corners, and even a real locomotive they can climb into. The museum is just a 10-minute walk from Hyvinkää train station, making it super easy to reach from Helsinki. The museum grounds are spacious, with well-preserved station buildings and outdoor displays that feel like walking through a piece of history. A most to-do if you’re in Uusimaa.
Catalin M — Google review
Great museum with unexpectedly beautiful and nice renovated trains. The condition of the locomotives are very good and during my visit there was some outdoor event as well with some modern trains and a running locomotive. It was great to visit and just around the corner from where I was living.
Sander V — Google review
Great collection of historic trains. Several free entrance days, worth watching out for. Some days in the summer of steam trains running... But many more days a diesel is running. The park "ride on" train is nice, a 3min lap of the grounds for 1euro each. (Only runs in the summer)
Gabriel P — Google review
The museum located in an old locomotive depot. A lot of rare trains as steam locomotive's. Very nice place!
Mike C — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit thanks to the plurality of trains exhibited there. Despite the fact that the big hall is not heated, it was really pleasant being able to go really close to all sort of trains, and even to take look into the inside from the windows. The only negative point is that a big part of the presentation signs are only written in finnish and not translated.
Baptiste V — Google review
One of the most interesting museums in Finland. The Uusimaa area is full of quirky modern art museums so it’s exciting to visit a history themed one that provides insight into the development of not only railway but also technology and the entire country as a whole. The museum’s premise is large, with many things to see and experience.

EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art

Art museum
EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts. Located in the WeeGee building, it's Finland's largest art museum, covering over 5,500sqm. The museum showcases 20th-century and contemporary Finnish and international art, as well as design exhibitions. Surrounded by the forest, the gallery offers panoramic views through its windows.
Great art, beautiful views, and a delicious cafe. EMMA is a short walk from the Tapiola metro stop and is such a nice change of pace from the museum districts of downtown Helsinki.
Jessica F — Google review
The wonderful adventure even if you didn't understand what design means. 😄 Visit EMMA and learn! You're worth it. Absolutely great collection of art and design.
Nanni A — Google review
Our favourite museum in Espoo 🙂 We are coming here quite frequently, not only to check the new exhibitions, but also to spend time. It became a mandatory stop during the walk around Tapiola-Westend. It’s a cozy, at the same time quiet big modern art museum in a walking distance from the Tapiola metro station. There are two floors, and multiple separate exhibitions of different artists, both Finnish and foreign, that are changed regularly. Mostly we like them, but lately it became too modern and lucking some elegance and technique in my opinion. It’s a pity that permanent exhibition about Espoo city was removed. It was an interesting one and informative, and there were no other alternatives to it in other museums, at least not that I know about. On Fridays it’s free admission and the museum is open until 19.
Olha K — Google review
EMMA was an interesting and enjoyable experience. It’s great to see so many Finnish artists represented, especially those who are usually underrepresented elsewhere. If you have a couple of hours to spare, I would definitely recommend visiting. The atmosphere was very relaxed, not crowded at all when I went, which made it easy to take your time and really enjoy the art. Entry is €20 per person unless you are under 29, in which case it is cheaper. Overall, a very chill and worthwhile place to explore.
Neptun Y — Google review
Very nice contemporary museum. Little far from the Tapiola Metro Station like 15 min walk. Glad to see inside of WeeGee too.
Saori W — Google review
Having previously visited the Helsinki Museum of Modern Art, I'd definitely recommend the Espoo museum instead. It's a large museum with a good balance of art to floor space, with multiple interesting exhibitions, and a good range of performance pieces, physically objects, and paintings. I especially enjoyed the exhibition exploring the security company Securitas! Entry is free on Fridays after 5pm so I would absolutely recommend a visit!
Rex O — Google review
One of my two favourite art museums in the metropolitan area. I'm not always that much into the themes of the exhibitions, but it certainly opens up my perspective a little. It's very varied - during one visit you can see everything from textiles and glasswork, through critical and conceptual art, to illustration from children books.
Filip M — Google review
We want there last Friday (3rd March 2022) and it was my first time visiting EMMA. I love this place so much as they have many art that combine technology, architecture, furniture design, ceramics, and many more things. We spend time there for 3-4 hours and try to impress each art as much as we can. If you love technology, mechanics, arts, and you may study or work in tech and engineering, you may love this museum like me 🙂 it's easy to impress and understand these arts 10/10 and recommended!!!

Exhibition Centre WeeGee

Art Museums
In Helsinki, the Exhibition Centre WeeGee is a must-visit for art and culture enthusiasts. This center houses attractive artworks and contemporary art exhibits that will captivate your attention. Located in Tapiola, the cultural hub of Espoo, it is part of a vibrant arts scene alongside the Espoo Cultural Centre and Espoo City Theatre.
Been there when Espoo day as its free. The collection is really nice, shows some great art, ceramics, glass art. In the second floor, there is a kids area which also really nice.
Mushonnifun S — Google review
It's lovely to have a big museum area in Espoo. The displays were interesting but small artworks get lost in the large grayish space. These rooms require big, colorful installations and completely differently designed areas for smaller works. Do it yourself art section was a fun idea.
Maria L — Google review
EMMA was my favourite museum in Finland. It has a good variety of art: ceramics, glass, wood and paintings. I especially liked the concretism gallery.
Praful K — Google review
WeeGee is a fantastic exhibition center located in the heart of Espoo, offering a fresh and engaging take on modern and contemporary art. The spacious galleries (EMMA, KAMU etc) host a rotating lineup of thoughtfully curated exhibitions, so there’s always something new to discover, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning art lover. A standout feature is the dedicated children’s area, making WeeGee one of the more family-friendly museums around. Another unique highlight is the Futuro House, the colorful, retro-futuristic plastic home that looks like it landed straight out of a sci-fi film. It’s included with your museum ticket and well worth the visit — both for its design history and visual impact. If you need a break after soaking in the art, the on-site restaurant on the bottom floor offers an affordable menu, making it easy to refuel without leaving the building. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a curious traveler, or a parent looking for a creative outing with the kids, WeeGee is well worth a visit.
Marko S — Google review
Really insightful experience)more for art appreciators). The surrounding is very well maintained, neat and tidy. The actual exhibition hall is not that big, but the displays are mostly interesting modern art and culture , crafts ,unique art work and are simply breath taking, authentic art pieces.Worth the tickets but it's free every Fridays after 17:00 ;) Adult : €12 / Below 18 &70+ ~ Free / Pensioners ,students etc ~ € 10
Cathy N — Google review
Weegee is an enormous art gallery. There are a lot of different things to look at, and I spent at least 2 hours looking around until closing time. You'll definitely find something for everyone here. There's even a play area for little kids! P.s. Free entry after 3 pm on Fridays. :)
Becca — Google review
You just can not miss it! All modern finnish Art is here under one roof! Welcome everyone, So we 'd have the same opinion and vision 🌼🌼🌼
Mikko K — Google review
A pure waste of money. It was not cheap to get a ticket there, and yet there us so little to see, my friend described it as “looks like its in construction”. Overall everything took us 5 minutes to see and really no anything special or even nice. Very plain and dull.

Water & Amusement Parks
Serena Water Park is a large water park in Europe that offers a variety of pools, slides, and spas suitable for all ages. The park features thrilling rides like Villi Virta and provides amenities such as lockers and dining options. Visitors can bring their own food and enjoy the day at the park from opening to closing time. With indoor and outdoor attractions, it's an enjoyable destination for both kids and adults alike.
An fantastic waterpark for the complete family. Outside slides have been upgraded and renewed in 2024. You have a lot of slides inside and outside for all ages..baby areas, toddlers and adults. At the wintertime only inside slide open. You can also organised birthday parties there. Only thing I don't like is the restaurant. We always bring our own food. Cool box full of fruites, sandwiches and drinks brings an special family experience on low cost.
Reeni — Google review
Nice place to spend time lot for kid to do. Get little overcrowded inside when they close outside due thunderstorm for a while. Get very load noice instead when all people was inside same time. Food at place very slow, ketchup was empty many say about it took over 10 min for them to refill it. Que to buy food and they close second place to order food instead to have both open. Buffé not to recommend and burgers was soso. Work to buy todays ticket when buy ticket instead to upgrade afterward.
Kjell G — Google review
For a family of 5 and all kids above 8yo awesome place as all attractions are suitable. Highly recommend renting the cottage as well.
Kristjan P — Google review
Extremely clean, beautiful, and exciting. I wish it was grass instead of asphalt.
سعید غ — Google review
Great overall experience. Perhaps they could do something to ease the queuing for food in hot weather. They could have some water fountains as well, that would help as I heard a mother telling her kid not to drink from the pool as she saw a floating piece of poop. I want to believe it was just her way to warn her kid from the dirty water. 🥲
Adri E — Google review
Parking 5e per day. You can park and pay at the machine near the entrance. During 12pm, there was separate queue available for advanced booking. They allows outside food and there are dining spaces. Better to go with swimming suits or shorts as all others will be wearing those. Locker facility available in the dressing room, take 2euro coins to access them. Hair dryers are available in the dressing room. Many rides are indoor. First aid medicines are kept there.
S J — Google review
Serena is the best water park in Finland and open all year, although the outdoor attractions are closed during the winter season. About half of the water slides are indoors, and the indoor area is warm all year. The park offers waterslides for the whole family, and the biggest ones serve also the slightly daring ones. A mediocre restaurant offers burgers, a buffet lunch and some smaller snacks and during summer time there is also an ice cream kiosk. Serena is a great day trip distance on a beautiful summer day.
Viliina L — Google review
Good waterpark, a lot of sides for all ages. But if you looking for saunas and relaxation, better go somewhere else. Also, you have to bring money or card if you are going to the restaurant, it is not so convenient.

Very beautiful church and very clean surroundings. It is a pity that we could not see the church from the inside because the church was closed.

Lakeside villa designed in 1903 by a trio of renowned Finnish architects, with guided tours.
Fantastic weather to sit down and relax with a nice hot cup of coffee and pastry and enjoy the sun and peace at the cafeteria terrace followed by a visit to the museum and a pleasant walk around the gardens and then through the countryside down to the beach, the whole experience was truly amazing.
Stuart C — Google review
Visited the manore together with a Ukrainian guide who gave us a nice excursion into the life and world of three renowned architects and their families who lived there. Now the museum is open only in the part of Saarinen premises. The entrance fee into the museum is 10-15 euros. The territory around is wonderful. There is a open air cafe open from June there. Definitely worth visiting.

Great place to visit in the summer! Interesting unique interior, nice surroundings- garden and a small beach down the hill, interesting history of the place. Definitely worth coming here at least once! Free entrance with the museum card. Better come by bike because the car parking is usually full

Very nice mansion complex and museum for a day tour near Helsinki. Though I do not have much knowledge of architecture, I still managed to enjoy the well-designed studio home and the amazing view. ”Work is the key to creative growth of the mind.” Btw, it is covered by the Museum Card.

A marvelous place that brings visitors serenity. We strolled through the forest and alongside the lake whole afternoon, enjoying summer sunshine to the fullest. - The museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday during summertime.

Not much to say, for the kids is great Of course some things can be improved, but believe kids won't see it. 5* because it is the only place where you pay once and that's it.they don't try to sell you games, souvenirs and other things. The grill area is great as well.
Adrian M — Google review
It is a great place to lose yourself to goofy things, from bouncy castle to trampolines, from vine climbers to kick cars. The only downside is that everything, literally feels outdated, old and needs some repair; half of the kick cars were broken, some of the 40 bouncy castles were just out of air and the sports road had either missing equipment or they were broken. Will go there again, but not as often as wanted due to this, and it is totally safe for everyone, it is just the price is quite high for such old stuff.
Matti — Google review
I had a good time with my family here. There's a bunch of things to play and they're not just for kids. I think my boyfriend had more fun than our kid did 😂 I recommend checking this place out!
Ameera R — Google review
The park is nice but overpriced in my opinion. If you are traveling with a child must pay full price per adult but one child is not allowed. Make at least half the cost for parents
Ірина З — Google review
Good place for people all ages, specially children. Tranpolines, sports, etc to test. Go there on a good weather. It's mostly outside. Minus points for toilets and bad and expensive coffee.
Toni P — Google review
Surprisingly good- lots of activities for all ages. Live show and a parade too! Dropping one star as adults have to pay even if you don’t go on any rides
Simon E — Google review
PuuhaPark is medium size activity park with bouncy castles, trampolines and sports tryouts. Not much effort has been done to theme or decorate the area and the bouncies aren't anything special. With entry fees, food and super expensive ice-cream day at PuuhaPark costs about the same as day in Linnanmäki or GrönaLund for family of four, but doesn't come even close in the value. I small recommendation for families with 5 to 10 year old kids who have already done the main parks.
This W — Google review
Absolutely fantastic place to go with children! Lots of trampolines, at least 30 different kinds of bouncy houses, sport fields, football flipper... plenty of space for everyone even on a busy day. There is even a large picnic terrace where you can fry your own sausage and a lunch restaurant on the other side of the parking. A full day of fun and happy tires kids 😊

I strongly recommend hiring a guided tour to get the most information about this fascinating medieval church.

Beautiful church and graveyard. A must-see.
Emily W — Google review
Came here during the "Christmas Fair of the Olden times", to safe from the cold and damp weather. The church is really massive stone building with a black, shingle roof. The drawings onnthe walls inside are really rare and special for Finnish churches. Acoustics are good. Toilets are located downstairs, you have to take steep stairs to go there.
Ari K — Google review
Very pretty church with some very interesting murals
Matt C — Google review
A Christian familiar with Sunday services will recognize the liturgy and Sunday service progress here even if they don’t understand the local language. In this case Finnish. Services are also provided in Swedish. The clergy is well educated and multilingual. The Finnish Catholic Church provides services here also but infrequently. The Lojo region offers natural beauty and SW Finland’s largest lake.

An acceptable church. Protestantism is a heresy at best, therefore I dare not enter by thought of free will. May God bring one mercy, but do not muzzle thy ox whilst it grazes. (Deuteronomy 25:4)

Tytyri Mine Experience

Sights & Landmarks
Mines
Tytyri Elämyskaivos is like exploring a colorful cave underground. You'll be amazed by the deep Kone elevator. Learn about the different minerals, where they come from, and how they are processed. It’s both educational and fascinating. There’s even a sauna inside, and you can request scarves before starting the tour.
Pink M — Google review
This place is a hidden gem. I loved the experience of being pretty deep underground with deemed lights and the quiet sound of water dripping from the ceiling somewhere. There's some mining equipment and a lot of information about the mining process, which is quite interesting. Also, the Christmas decorations are great, one can even meet Joulupukki there.
Alexander S — Google review
A very informative and fun tour. The temp is cool down there. If you don't have a jacket, they have blankets. The hi-tech and low-tech is on display. Allow 2 hours for a thorough experience and take lots of pictures. Don't miss the sauna and the troll.
Peter D — Google review
It was an interesting exhibition of Lohja's old Tytyri mine. There was a lot of old mining equipment and a few mining vehicles on display. - The temperature in the mine/quarry is +8°C year-round, so remember to bring a jacket! - The entrance fee was €18. - You are also required to wear a helmet when visiting the mine, which will be provided.
Juho P — Google review
Absolutely amazing place and so much bigger and better executed that I expected! A lot of information about the history of the mine and the lift down was an experience in itself. Definitely recommend for an unusual activity, especially with children. We were just 2 adults on out own but had do much fun😍 Loved the troll...so cute and got a hug from him so that made my day. The entrance fee of 14,50 euros is very reasonable considering what a unique experience you get. I've certainly never visited anywhere like it. Very friendly and helpful, knowledgeable staff and a nice little coffee and gift shop too. 10/10❤️
Huulipunasissi — Google review
It's a nice place to visit on a rainy day. The Kone elevator brings you down 350 meters below the surface. There is plenty to see down earth if you take it slowly and read the signs. The staff were able to speak to me in English, so I got a good explanation about the mine. I recommend to go here, it's a nice way to spend some time in the weekend!
Sander V — Google review
Exciting and beautiful glimpse into Finnish mining history in Lohja. We had a blast! The staff in the mines were extremely knowledgeable about the mine history. If you are in southern Finland you need to make it here!
Bryan J — Google review
I really enjoyed the experience. There are really few places in Finland where you can spend 2 hours in a guided tour for such a low price and the experience is really interesting. From the super fast elevator to the tunnels and the art exhibition. I would recommend it for families with kids and for people interested in geology or science in general.

Raseborg Castle Ruins

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Fortified, 14th-century castle ruins, originally surrounded by water, but now landlocked.
A nice day trip from Helsinki. Few ares within the castle ruins might be slippery. The surrounding area is well maintained.

Nice castle. Don't follow Google Maps to get there, but follow the signs on the road. They will follow you to the back of the castle. For €8 you walk around in a well maintained castle which gives you half an hour to an hour of joy. I was there in the early morning, but you can get lunch and coffee too.
Sander V — Google review
Beautiful castle ruins. The road that leads to the castle is very smooth and the scenery is breathtaking. Inside the castle it’s cool to see the rocks and the rooms, but there was not much. Adult entrance fee is 7 euros.
Hằng T — Google review
Ruins are surrounded by the beautiful Finnish forest. We haven't entered the castle because it seemed too expensive to just have a look inside the ruins, but path leading to museum (600m) is lovely. Also the place itself is very peaceful is bright.

Very Nice & Beautiful Castle Ruin to visit in Southern Finland. You need to buy Tickets to enter to the castle from the ticket office. There is a cafe nearby as well. Very good WC facilities. Have to park the car in parking area and walk down little bit to get to the castle. DON'T FOLLOW THE GOOGLE NAVIGATION. It directs us to a wrong place which you can not get the access by a car through a private land property. Just follow the direction signs on the road to get to the correct place.
Savith P — Google review
Great medieval castle. Lots of information on signs in English and Russian. It is closed for the winter so you cannot go inside the castle now but it was nice to walk around and read about the castle. There is a trail you can walk through the fields and forest and cross the river to visit a museum. We took our dog and he had a blast walking everywhere. The cafe was closed for the winter so we cannot comment on that. We will definitely go back to visit in the summer. We spent about 2 hours there today even in the rain. Very gorgeous area.

A bit smallish and ruined, but there are decent platforms and some stairs built as well. This is definitely not for someone with movability problems though. It is also much better to visit in the summer.

Torronsuo National Park is a vast wilderness area in Southern Finland, spanning over 30 square kilometers of bog and forest. It offers well-marked hiking trails, including the 8.5 km Suontaival trail, which takes visitors through the most important areas of the park on long duckboards. The park provides a planked walking route for a serene experience amidst its unique landscape. Visitors can also explore independently with caution and proper navigation tools due to its expansive nature.
Torronsuo National Park is a nature lover's paradise near Forssa. Here you can take shorter or longer hikes, watch birds, pick berries or just admire the amazing swamp. Some of the paths are accessible and all roites are clearly marked and easy to follow.

If you like bogs - this the place for you! The national park of Torronsuo covers over 30 square kilometers of bog and forest. They have nice well signed trails of various lengths around the park. I like the 8.5 km Suontaival trail which covers most important places. It is a wonderful walk with long long duckboards. I would highly recommend taking it. There are two parking areas with toilets along the trail. Remeber that during the summer there might be a lot of mosquitos so prepare for them accordingly. The park has english www-site with maps.
Heikki K — Google review
Nice trail that leads deep to a swamp. Views are special and so different from what I've seen. Quite and peaceful. The only bad thing was a part of the trail goes along a big road with 80 km/h speed limit. It spoils the impression. Moreover it is dangerous as there's no pedestrian line.

Muurla Design Marketing Oy

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
During my recent road trip, I stumbled upon Muurla Design Marketing Oy and was genuinely delighted by the experience! This charming spot seamlessly blends a design shop, café, and showroom into one inviting space. The store showcases an impressive array of stunning Finnish design items that are perfect for souvenirs or gifts. The cozy café offers a delightful selection of snacks, coffee, and lunch options; I particularly enjoyed their fish and chips as well as the falafel—both were delicious!
Big store area with a wide range of products. They have the option for wrapping as a gift and a nice coffee corner too. Recommend this place for people who have headaches for considering what to buy as souvenirs from Finland.

We went to see an exhibition by Mari Rantanen called Tunne värinä, and loved it. It's a small local museum, but keeping that in mind their space and all exhibitions I've seen have been great. The curators clearly know what they're doing. There's also a free tour every day that's included in the ticket price, possibly only in Finnish though, which is nice. Driving from Helsinki to Turku this is our must see stop every time there's a new exhibition.

Beautiful.museu., a bit on a smaller side than it looks from.outside and cafe was closed when we visited. Staff very friendly, found all information in English for us. Excellent toilet facilities and very interesting exhibitions.

The place is small and possibly does not provide very good other services than exhibitions (there are café and a tiny museum shop with books mainly in Finnish). However the exhibition and the way how it was organised and set up was excellent. The space is great with many sections providing a good experience I believe for both visitors and exhibitors.

(Translated by Google) Kuori apple cider captured the taste buds of our group when we dined at Terho restaurant. Best of all, this best cider in the country was found in the village brewery's idyllic store located in the backyard of the building. A really fresh, suitably appley, captivating drink is sold in a beautiful glass bottle. A delightfully friendly lady, as the spirit of the store, packed the bottles nicely in a beautiful cardboard transport box that holds 3 bottles. The packaging and friendliness in the brewery's store were like a crown for this fine fresh drink as a ride boy on the trip to our home in Hämeenlinna. A strong recommendation for stopping by the store and tasting this Kuori cider! Of course, there are many other interesting and certainly tasty drinks in the selections. Still to the end ISO thanks for the level of service. You are great, making the visitor satisfied in every way 👍 (Original) Kuori omenasiideri valloitti seurueemme makunystyrät käydessämme ruokailemassa Terho ravintolassa. Mikä parasta, tämä maaliman paras siideri löytyi rakennuksen takapihalla sijaitsevasta kyläpanimon idyllisestä myymälästä. Todella raikas, sopivasti omenainen valloittava juoma myydään kauniissa lasipullossa. Aivan ihastuttavan ystävällinen neiti myymälän hengettärenä pakkasi pullot nättiin 3 pulloa vetävään kauniiseen kartonkiseen kuljetuslaatikkoon. Pakkaus ja ystävällisyys panimon myymälässä olivat kuin kruunu tämän hienon raikkaan juoman kyytipojaksi matkalle kotiimme Hämeenlinnaan. Vahva suositus poikkeamiselle myymälään ja maistelemaan tätä Kuori siideriä! Toki valikoimissa paljon muitakin mielenkiintoisia sekä varmasti maistuvia juomia. A little disappointing that there were only two beers left when we left on Saturday afternoon. We bought a few ciders, there were also sodas left. At least the ciders are from traditional small-brewery production, the yeast tastes good. (Original) Kyläpanimon myymälä kadulta katsottuna tämän kuvan ravintolarakennuksen takana jossa myös nämä pöydät (kuva myymälän ovensuusta). Ria K — Google review
There are 2 path on this park, one is around the "lake" the other is deep in the lands, both are using wood pieces to step in and walk, but forget about the second which is not open because of old/broken wood pieces (you can go but it is at your own risk cf pictures) So basically there is only one path, savojärven kierros, which means Tour around the lake Savo.. A tour about 5.5km, where you WONT SEE THE LAKE BEFORE 3 KM OF WALKING, instead of that you'll see the swamps, still walking on the wood pieces, firstly you'll find this path lovely and the wood pieces are poetic and funny! But after 3 km in the swamps... You won't I swear. You have to look at your feet every time (a few disappointing for a nature path you'll say) and jeeeez it hurts feet like hell. To end this, some wood pieces are also broken but nothing warns you... We don't recommand this place, ruissalo instead is a good place to see /walk through.

Really great place for hiking even with kids, especially the hike around the lake Savojarvi.Do bring in your own sausages and food and u can enjoy a great barbecue either at Kurjenpesä or Rantapiha. By the way best way to reach park is not what google map suggests. I would recommend to search following lat/long 60.743025,22.424462 there you can nicely park your car and then start towards Kurjenpesä and then cover the lake stretch in circle via Rantapiha.

A must see! Super fascinating church. Just looking at the outside and seeing how piecemeal it is, your mind races with curiosity at how it ended up being built like that and how it has been able to withstand hundreds of years! The free museum inside was far more than I expected. The relics they have in their collection go back to the middle ages.

Although it was closed when we arrived, the kind caretaker allowed us to enter. The church’s quiet atmosphere, simple yet graceful architecture, and sense of history made it truly special. We took a moment to pray — it was the first church where my boyfriend and I prayed together.

Luostarinmäki Open-Air Museum is a unique attraction in Turku, Finland, as it is the only part of the city that survived the destructive fire of 1827. The museum consists of original 18th- and early 19th-century buildings and workshops where visitors can explore Finnish arts and crafts.
If you want to get sneak peak of what life used to be for the average worker and family this is the place. Wonderful that it has been preserved for us to experience. Many authentic professions nicely presented, friendly staff ready help and explain if you have questions, tranquil surroundings, area for kids to play, museum shop, cafe, ... It is easy to spend hours here if you are interested in history!

Really interesting museum however we visited over Easter and lot of the buildings were closed. However they didn’t tell us until after we paid for our ticket. And the tickets were full price which we felt was a bit unfair. Would be nicer to have seen more museum staff in the buildings to explain or guide.

Nice outdoor museum that displays an old part of Turku as it was ~200 years ago. Buildings are still original, inside them there are many different types of tools and machinery for traditional craftsmanship. Some are even in use today and operated by the museum staff. This place is really worth a visit.

In this museum, you not only learn a great deal about Finnish culture and history, but you can also try everything yourself and buy interesting handicrafts. We were very lucky to have a private tour; our guide, a wonderful history student, told us fascinating stories about this district and Turku.

Fascinating open air museum. The only surviving original wooden houses in the old town area of Turku. Each house has information about the former inhabitants and their occupations.

A lovely and immersive open-air museum experience. Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum is easy to find and easy to navigate once you're there. The layout feels open and inviting, and the combination of well-preserved houses and thoughtfully written information really helps you imagine what life might have been like in different historical periods. We visited in summer, but I imagine it's just as atmospheric during other seasons – the surroundings and interiors give you a good sense of life across the year. There are toilets, lockers, a shop and a café, and we also appreciated being able to buy both hot and cold drinks as well as pastries in the outdoor area. Museum guides were placed strategically around the site, and added depth and warmth to the experience with their knowledge and friendly presence. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience a living slice of Finnish history in the heart of Turku. Also, the ticket is valid all day, so you can visit the museum several times during the day.

I really enjoyed my visit to Luostarinmäki. The buildings are full of olden times charm, and the stories of the people who lived there were fascinating. Especially the story of little Erik was heartwrenching. I also loved the "brochures" printed on plywood. Genious and surely more environmentally savvy than plastic or paper! I loved seeing the old craftsmanship workshops – it’s like walking into the past, but with the added benefit of modern shoes. The staff were friendly and polite, and I appreciated the period-dressed actors. It would be amazing if there were more of them, like one for each house, but let’s be real – that might bump up the ticket price. The village sounds were somewhat creepy. You could hear the sounds of village life in perfectly empty houses, like you were amidst ghosts. One quick heads-up: if you’re taller than 170 cm (or about 5’7), mind your head! The doorways and beams are low, which is part of the historic authenticity. Just don’t let history knock you out! We managed to find free parking quite near, just a block away. Paid parking closer. The restrooms were nice and clean.

Aboa Vetus Ars Nova is a unique museum in Turku, Finland that offers visitors the chance to explore both medieval history and contemporary art. The contemporary art section, Ars Nova, showcases stimulating works from international contemporary artists like Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and David Hockney, as well as Finnish artists such as Jan-Erik Andersson and Matti Kujasalo.
Our children's favorite museum! A museum that combines the history of Turku, the remains of which are discovered underground, with modern culture and art (Contemporary art exhibitions change from time to time ) The historical museum is experiential and interactive and suitable for children. At the entrance is a pleasant cafe-restaurant and a museum shop. מומלץ מאד!!!

My nr one fav place in Turku. Must visit. I've been visiting for dozen times! Oöd Turku exhibition and modern art exhibition under the same roof.
Jari M — Google review
Clean and well maintained museum. I was skeptical it was worth the time and entrance fee but I’m glad we went in! They make piles of old rocks and bricks interesting! Be sure to use the audio guides or it’s just rubble. About 45 minutes is enough time, maybe an hour if you like to read everything. Did not do the Art exhibit add-on because there wasn’t one while we were there.

Beautiful museum showing the town that was below the current city of Turku. The museum is modern in construction. They also have a gallery with a contemporary artist.

Really nice combination of Art gallery and Archeological museum. The entire building is built on top of an excavation of medieval dwellings with artifacts dating from the 16th century. I think this is a top place to visit when in Turku

The library provides comfortable spaces for reading, studying, and playing, including work desks facing the street and inner courtyard. Lovely library! Every time I’ve visited, there’s been a spot available. They offer free WiFi and quiet spaces. It’s located in a beautiful part of Turku, next to the river, close to nice restaurants and the cathedral. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the city.

Great place! Free Wi-Fi, a lot of very interesting books, a lot of space for privacy with a book, music or podcast. There is a coffee shop inside, you can have a snack there. The toilet in the cafe is 2€, but it's better to look for a free one in the library itself, it's hidden behind the reception ;) There is a game room for children, reading rooms etc A unique place really. It was like I was back in school again, but modern one

Modern library in a central location. The Turku library is huge. The building has an old and a modern part. The selection of books is huge. Many people from Turku also come here to read newspapers. The WLAN is free of charge. There are charging facilities and plenty of seating. There are also toilets and luggage lockers. There is a small café serving drinks and snacks.

lets talk about the ghosts!!!! ask any employee, theyll tell you how many absolutely refuse to go in the basement alone. pro tip: the library is built on the site of the ancient execution & human sacrifice spot!!!!

A charming library with comfortable and pleasant spaces for reading, learning and playing. Work and study desks facing the street and inner courtyard. Reading and play areas for children in low seating, with a charming display of objects from books under transparent tiles and scattered cabinets. Throughout the year there are a variety of community activities related to literature (Moomin, Harry Potter and more...) A wonderful, pleasant and relaxed place that both we and the children love very much.
Einat F — Google review
A mix of old and new in the city of Turku. Functional building with respect to the historical values of the building. A must visit - especially if you have kids who can enjoy the kids section inside. The older guys could enjoy the fine architecture.
Yossi T — Google review
The new library show modernity, and the old library shows the spirit of classicality. Each table and chair was decorated in a stylish Nordic style and on the second floor, the displayed dress hung in the sky between the beautiful stairs. I'm sorry I couldn't take a few pictures because it's a library. I had a hard time taking this picture, too.

Maritime museum
Nestled along the picturesque Aura River in Turku, Finland, Forum Marinum stands as a captivating tribute to the nation’s rich maritime heritage. This vibrant museum center showcases an impressive array of historic tall ships and Finnish naval vessels, making it a haven for those fascinated by seafaring history. Visitors can delve into engaging exhibitions that highlight the evolution of shipbuilding and navigation in Finland while also learning about the vital roles played by rescuers and customs officers at sea.
A vast museum desicated to maritime topics in Finland. At least 5 boats/ships to see and 2 buildings full of displays. Despite the fact that they have the Plugit chargers on the parking lot there is no possibility to charge a car there as they are in private use. Even if thereare no signs about it.
Juho Ä — Google review
We just had a couple of hours left for the visit, so we bought the tickets to visit two vessels. We chose the two warships and it was really worth it. You can walk through them freely, explore the decks and interiors, and really get a sense of what life was like on board. There are a lot of information panels inside. Even without seeing the rest of the museum, it felt like a unique experience.

haven't been in the museum itself, but outside as well as the free boat museum. really nice scenery and café. well renovated buildings.

We visited 4 ships (two battle ships, one luxury hotel ship and one big sailboat, used by the Marine). By the end of the third hour we felt ourselves totally exhausted. Very interesting, informative, but to climb up and down in and on the ships is really tireing. Many many information and stairs. In my oponion this is simple too much. Finally we had no any power to visit the Visitor Center itself.
Kollár E — Google review
Great place to explore Finish maritime history. It is worth to pay for two day tickets as you get access to museum and all displayed floating ship.
Erik O — Google review
Worth the price for the ships exhibitions and guide. The museum and exhibitions are kids friendly.
Putika A — Google review
A cool museum about maritime and seafaring in Turku. Offers a cool mixture of modern exhibitions (VR, interactive stuff) and old things (as one might expect from a museum).
Sakke — Google review
One of the best museum experiences in Finland. It wasn’t exactly free for the kids, but it was worth every cent. We visited the place over two days for the same price. The kids just loved the Children’s Maritime Museum exhibition, and the ships were really interesting to visit. It’s a very comprehensive museum with a lot to do and see. Suomen Joutsen is quite unique, and S/S Bore was really interesting. The exhibitions “Working at Sea” and “Finnish Shipbuilding” were informative and well-built. A truly great museum visit.

Turku Castle, a 13th-century fortress turned museum, offers a glimpse into its transformation from medieval stronghold to Renaissance palace. Situated on the edge of the river Aura since the 1280s, it stands as Finland's largest surviving medieval building and one of only three castles in the country. Despite Turku's Great Fire wiping out much of its medieval splendor, this iconic attraction remains unscathed and is among Finland's most visited sites.
Admittedly I thought this was going to be another tourist trap. On the outside it reminds me a little of Brans Castle but for €16 admission I thought it was going to scarce. I was greeted warmly and it was mentioned that free lockers were available. I was more than happy to drop my cumbersome backpack. I loved the transition between each room, it felt natural with the narrow steps and ceiling and everything had good presented information. Once I had gone round the castle I collected my bag then headed to what was signed as gift shop. I wasn't prepared for another massive tour of things. I spent a good few hours here. Would definitely recommend.

Turku Castle was an impressive and pleasantly surprising visit. At first glance, the exterior didn't seem particularly breathtaking, but as I got closer and walked around the grounds and then inside the castle, I appreciated it a lot more. I spent a full three hours exploring the castle, and there was so much to see and learn. The exhibits were great, with lots information and interactive elements that provided more insight into the intertwined history of Sweden and Finland. One of the things I learned was that this castle used to be on an island and was connected to the mainland later, which I found quite cool. For some reason I was particularly fascinated by all the windows that you could see from the inner courtyard! The little park around the castle is a lovely and peaceful space to walk through. I also have to mention the museum shop, which has a lot of interesting items.

Turku Castle is an absolutely fascinating place to explore! The architecture, exhibits, and well-preserved rooms really bring Finnish history to life. Walking through the halls feels like stepping back in timem. It’s definitely one of the highlights of Turku and worth spending a couple of hours discovering all its corners. One small tip for future visitors: I couldn’t easily find a public WC or urinals during my visit, even the paid ones. Overall, a wonderful and memorable visit — highly recommended for anyone interested in history, castles, or just enjoying a unique cultural landmark in Finland
Tejiri C — Google review
A historical place that was the central location of Finland for hundreds of years when Finland was a part of Swedish kingdom. As a castle it's not that spectacular compared to castles in other parts of Europe, but for understanding Finnish medieval and renessaince history, it's an important place to visit. It has burned down several times, last time during WWII, so pretty much all wooden parts are relatively new compared to the age of the castle.
Samuli S — Google review
An old castle with a museum inside. I visited on early hours before the museum actually opened, so didn't got a chance inside. Around the museum is nice green relaxing park with lot of benches and place for cycle parking. Peaceful place must visit
Churchill J — Google review
Worth a visit! Every corner of Turku Castle tells another story about its history. I visited on Turku Day (third Sunday of September), and in the courtyard there was medieval music playing, I’m not sure if that happens regularly, but it definitely made my visit feel like time travel. My husband and I explored the castle for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, which I think is enough time to see everything at a relaxed pace.
