Lovely artist home. Extremely well taken care of and were greeted by very friendly staff. We were also able to pick and take home nearby wildflowers
Hannah G — Google review
A stunning location and a truly wonderful wooden house. The view to the lake is just fantastic. Very disappointed though to find that inside the house they did not have many works of Halonen on display but instead lots of paintings and works from other Finnish artists painted whilst they had been in France. I visited hoping to specifically see and learn about the person who had lived in the house. I am not sure if I would have wished to pay the rather expensive entrance fee to see works from artists who are already on display in large museums in Helsinki.

Amazing place on the lake Tuusula. If you looking for some peace and quiet, extraordinary views - you can find it here!

A superb artist house museum that contains all the original furnishing (unlike Ahola). The changing exhibition was filled with stars and great artworka.

It is a great museum with fantastic paintings and views. Worth to visit

Beautiful place, wouldn't have minded staying a bit longer. Great artworks and architecture. It was very hot inside though due to sun all day and the house being black 😁.

Lovely piece of Finnish history. Pekka Halonen’s atelier home is gorgeus and offers art exhibitions with different themes fron Finnish Art Golden Age 1880-1930 throughout the year.

Museum home of composer Sibelius in the villa where he lived with his family from 1904-1957.
Nice. The house Sibelius lived in for more than 50 years. No theme park. Just the house with furniture and the story of their lives. Loved it
Tony B — Google review
Please with this. The garden is beautiful and the place itself is a walk into a history book. The building itself is stunning and the rooms nicely kept. You can see a lot of the old ornaments and catch a glimpse of the of how people lived during this period. The garden is stunning and well kept. The cafe is also a nice place to hang out and walk around.
Rosana E — Google review
Very interesting home museum of the Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius.
Juho Ä — Google review
After seen Sibelius Monument in Helsinki, it's just natural that one wants to see Ainola, the home of Jean and Aino Sibelius where they lived some half a century and which is now open for visitors as a home museum. The ticket price is 16 euro (summer25) which sounds a bit expensive if we think that the entrance costs to Kiasma, Ateneum and other big museums in Helsinki some 20 euroa. But maybe the ticket price doesn't matter so much if one is really interested in life of Finland's most famous composer.
Hannu T — Google review
A visit to Ainola had long been on my bucket list, so I arrived with high expectations. It's easy to see how the last 20 years or so of Sibalius' productive career, could have been influenced by such a stunning place. Today, the environment is a little spoiled by the proximity of a trunk road. But the house and gardens are unchanged since those days past, and you will appreciate the beauty and calm they install within you.
Sean J — Google review
Beautiful house and gardens. Highly recommend taking the time to visit the 'temple', the route is absolutely stunning.
Anne B — Google review
Really nice buildings and park. The interior and art collection are great. And the sauna! Worth visiting even if Sibelius is not your thing!
Peeter T — Google review
Home of Jean and Aino Sibelius, a very interesting history. A real home, did they say 99 ashtrays....he smoked cigars.

Itis

Shopping mall
Shopping
Itis is a shopping center located in the eastern part of Helsinki, accessible by a 15-minute metro ride from the city center. As the largest mall in the Nordic countries, it offers an extensive selection of shops with almost 240 different options to choose from. Alongside its wide range of retail outlets, Itis also boasts nearly 30 restaurants and cafes for visitors to enjoy.
Not so busy on the weekdays. There are restaurants and almost all brands outlets, halal meat shops. Play corner for the kids. A good number of parking places are also available here, which are free of cost. So, it is a complete package. Superb place to visit.
Mohammad I — Google review
I went to Itäkeskus for their foods in their Kauppahalli and the foods were excellent. Great food price ratio with Chicken Gyros and the Strawberry Foam Matcha is spectacular. Unfortunately the Dubai Chocolate Icecream hit under the mark. There just wasn’t the dubai chocolate Wow-factor within it. Very basic or too basic recipe with nothing extra, which dubai chocolate has. Just ordinary chocolate sauce, green sauce that I’m not sure if it’s pistachio and kunef which all of them is too little compared to the soft serve’s amount
Fangda C — Google review
I recently visited Rituals Itakeskus and bought The Ritual of Jing Mini Fragrance Sticks Diffuser — it’s absolutely wonderful! The scent truly brings a sense of inner peace and calm to my home. 🌸 The store itself has such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere — soft lighting, soothing fragrances, and a beautifully organized layout. The staff were also very kind and helpful, offering great advice on different collections and helping me choose the perfect product. Every visit feels like a little escape from the busy mall. I’ll definitely come back to explore more of their products. Highly recommend for anyone looking to bring more calm and balance into their daily life.
Marilyn G — Google review
Today around 17:50, a clearly intoxicated and socially unstable individual, with a bottle of alcohol in his pocket, approached and started yelling at my 1-month-old baby who was peacefully sleeping in a stroller near the tables by McDonald’s (next to the escalator). As a result, the baby has been crying for hours and cannot calm down. This experience was extremely upsetting and left a very negative impression of the shopping center. I strongly do not recommend visiting this place with children — it clearly lacks proper security and family-friendly atmosphere.
Константин А — Google review
Big and bright mall. I was surprised at how bright this mall is compared to other malls in Helsinki. Very easy to navigate although it has many shops and eating places.
Domna T — Google review
My current rating are 3 stars only. Itis is currently undergoing a major renovation. Many stores are closed and the mall currently has a bit of a construction site feel. Had I known this before, I would have chosen not to visit. I'll be returning after the renovation is complete for an updated review. Plus points for the fact that at least on one of the parking sections, still 5 hours free parking is available. However, I do not recommend to park on the deck that is on the Stockmann side. The way down is extremely narrow and I had trouble to leave due to it being so tight. I am an experienced and confident driver, I usually don't encounter such situations. The guidance towards the exit lane is so tight and the curve is so sharp that I was worried I'd scratch my car. I had to maneuver quite a bit to get out unharmed. I haven't had this problem in any other parking sections in Itis.
Lilly — Google review
Itis Shopping Center is an exceptional shopping destination in Helsinki, standing out with its unique shops among popular brands. The mall is easily accessible, boasting free parking and good public transport links. Despite its size, a stroll around the various stores, including groceries and household items, will soon have you navigating it with ease. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops perfect for socializing or a relaxing break. With ongoing renovations, the interior may seem a bit dark, but the lively atmosphere keeps the spirit upbeat. In essence, Itis is a clean, well-organized shopping haven, inviting you back for more enjoyable experiences.
Kaveh — Google review
Good place, you got everything you need, really pretty and quite easy to navigate. Outside area is filled with smokers and has a lingering tobacco smell but itis overall is a nice place.

Finnlines Vuosaari

Ferry service
Transportation
Ferries
Loved the finnlines cruise. Starting from checkin to check out everything is well organized. Good cabins and restaurants inside the cruise to enjoy meals
Shweta S — Google review
While the check-in service worked very well, the poor marks are actually motivated by the lack of cleanliness of the boat in general and the cabins particularly. We are travelling with a dog and there is a premium charge for this which I suppose should translate in some extra cleaning service. While it is still acceptable for the passage not to be 100%, a customer can expect to find a clean cabin ... Ours was still having a strong dog smell, the floor was sticky, the shower cabin had still previous dog spoor on the floor, there was even a used ear cotton bud on the floor ... glasses in the cabins are missing ... The ferry services are expensive enough for Finnlines to provide its customers a hygienic hospitality. We travel at least once a year and this year saw a deterioration in comparison with previous years. Time to do something about it I think 🤔.
Bruno B — Google review

Great crew at the office for tickets and on board the ferry. Large rooms with bathrooms and beds, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Internet, Gym, Library, Shops, Excellent food and alcohol. I really recommend !!! 👍👍👍👌👌👌

Be prepared that they will shave you heavy - you would need to pay for even water (hot) on board. Air is yet for free.
Leonid E — Google review
Terrible service. Took a booking and then canceled a ticket, even they new in advance it will be no sailing, because they planned ship maintenance on that day. No compensation for hotels,no even a cabin upgrade for inconvenience.

Old Town Bed and Breakfast Ida-Maria is a charming B&B located in a historic building dating back to the 1600s. The rustic rooms offer a cozy and comfortable stay, with amenities such as a lounge, sauna, and free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy delicious meals at the traditional small restaurant on-site, which has been serving for two decades. The staff is known for their exceptional service and accommodating nature, allowing early check-ins and luggage storage.
The apartment we stayed in was even nicer in real life than the pictures showed. We were very happy about our stay, and the staff was very service-oriented and accommodating to our needs. We could check in a little bit earlier than usual, and also leave our luggage for some hours after checking out, while we were strolling around in the old town before taking out bus back to Helsinki. Thank you for a wonderful comfortable stay!
Edvard K — Google review
Charming bed and breakfast spot in Porvoo. A shame we only stayed one night but the accomodations were cozy and inviting. The room we stayed in had a kitchen as well as a spacious living room. The living room had a nice view of the river. It was in the center of the town and easily accessible to the old and newer areas of Povoo. This would be a nice place for summer trip with the family.
Myo K — Google review
Very cute B&B along the river in Porvoo, Finland. I stayed in the Star Room, which is a bit separated from the main property. Owner knocked on the door as I arrived. He apparently also owns the nearby restaurant Ranta-aitta, which had its commissary and bathrooms across from the property. Be aware this property and its windows all face an alley that will have fairly heavy foot traffic in the afternoon/evening hours because of the restaurant. I immediately drew all the blinds when I entered the unit. Other than that privacy inconvenience, the location is fantastic, right on the main strip of the old town of Porvoo. Inside the unit you have a nicely functional kitchen and washer/dryer (which I used and was very convenient). There's two bathrooms, one with a shower and one without. Shower is a bit small and confining, but solid. The chairs in the kitchen were not super comfortable and the wifi didn't reach the bedroom very well, so if you need to do something online for a decent amount of time the unit isn't the most ergonomic solution for this situation. There is a piano in the unit! I did not play or know if it was actually encouraged but it's something to consider. There is access to a sauna that's across the street from the main property, which I used. Its heat doesn't get much higher than 60-70ºC but with plentiful water you can get enough steam for a good sweat. Breakfast was solid.
Mark F — Google review
We (two adults) stayed at Ida-Maria in Jan/2021 for two nights in ”Pieni huoneisto, puutarhanäkymä”. The room was lovely, cozy and clean. Delicious breakfast and very good service! All of this in the heart of Porvoo Old Town. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.
Eliisa L — Google review
Beautiful river view from our bedroom. Fantastic breakfast in the red historic houses on the river. We had a great time, thank you!

Everything is pretty good here! Only the pillow is a bit uncomfortable. But the location is great. My favorite is breakfast and sauna. Definitely recommended.

Porvoo Cathedral

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Porvoo Cathedral, located in the enchanting Porvoo Old Town, is a small 13th-century cathedral that was originally constructed with wood and later fortified with stone walls. The cathedral, an Evangelical Lutheran church built in the 15th century with some parts dating back to the 13th century, stands as one of Finland's oldest churches. It serves as the seat of the Swedish-speaking Diocese of Borga and offers a picturesque view from the nearby hill.
One of the best Cathedrals in Finland. Really enjoyed the time and peaceful environment there. The numbers on the wall, I didn't get it, was that roman chapters/verse numbers from Bible? I don't know but the place was extremely peaceful and very historical. I'd recommend this for any tourist visiting Porvoo city in Finland.
Sunny S — Google review
Located in the heart of Porvoo, this small cathedral features simple architecture and a calm atmosphere. The second floor is closed to visitors, yet the main hall still feels welcoming. At the entrance you can pick up postcards and other souvenirs, selecting the design or author you like, with an offer of your choice. I suggest visiting at least once.
Fabrizio P — Google review
Built in the 15th century with some parts from the 13th century, this is a small church in a quaint town with lots of history. If you're staying in Helsinki, I'm not sure it's worth the drive, but I am glad I went and got to see Porvoo.
H M — Google review
A great 13th century rustic cathedral serving both the locsl Sw3dish and Finnisjh communities, with a commanding view of the surrounding settlement in Porvoo, about an hr from Helsinki central, overlooking a nice small river
Wing L — Google review
The five stars are mostly for the great lecture we got from one of the volunteers. The lecture/tour seems to happen every hour or so at request. Strongly recommend doing it as it reveals so many interesting aspects of this historic building.
Clynton B — Google review
The church was probably finished in 1418, altough this is speculative. Making in One of the nations oldest, located in the heart of Old Porvoo.
Tom T — Google review
Was closed for renovations, but outside was fantastic

Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge

Historic Sites
Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge, located in the scenic Kotka region of Finland, is a historical gem that offers visitors a peek into the lavish lifestyle of the Russian nobility. Once a favored fishing spot of Emperor Alexander III and his family, this rustic wooden lodge was built in 1889 and now serves as a museum. Nestled amidst wooded grounds and the salmon-rich Kymijoki's rapids, it provides an idyllic setting for history and nature enthusiasts to explore.
I have wanted to see the Lodge for many years. You need a car to get here as there is no direct way on public transport. The museum was closed for winter but still great to see the environment and buildings
Scottdennis — Google review
Impressive place to visit nature and history at once. This is complex of different buildings and natural places of interests, so you can make a hiking and enjoy it fully. Everything is well-preserved and kept in original view, as it was not destroyed for couple of centuries. They have museum in main house, but you can visit the territory for free without entering museum. Highly recommended!
Alesia G — Google review
You can feel the history there. Really ordinary place to visit and very beutiful environment. Warmly recommend.
Sari S — Google review
Very beautiful place to learn about the history of Finland and the uniqueness of Kotka’s geography. It was a surprise because the lodge is very rustic and simple, completely contrasts my initial thought that it would be extravagant like any other examples of Royal Russian arcitecture. The whole premise is more like an urban park than a museum, where you can stroll around and admite the scenery.
Minh L — Google review
Beautiful scenery and plenty to see for free, as only the main lodge house is the museum. Toilets are free to use. The museum entry fee is a bit on the high end considering how small the space is, that said the guides were knowledgeable and told us about the place without us booking a guided tour (our party was the only one in at that moment!).
Minna R — Google review
Really good place to see the rapids and visit the river. We were there a but late so the lodge wasn't open for public anymore (closed at 6pm) but still it was good visit. There are good paths to explore the area on your own and also comprehensive signs that give you good knowledge of the area's history as Tsar's fishing place.
Jari K — Google review
Such a lovely Place. Maybe not worth the 8 EUR to go in but nice to think one is supporting the place with the entrance ticket. Worth a stop!
Clapar P — Google review
Oh the view's amazing! There's a distinct weird smell - prolly the fishes, not sure. Haha. But the nature's exquisite enough to make you ignore the smell. It was end of winter when we visited and some parts of the river was still frozen but the rest of the waters were moving so it's very relaxing. Really felt close to nature.

Sapokka Water Garden is a serene and well-maintained park located by the harbor. It boasts a variety of colorful flowers, exotic plants, and animal statues that are sure to delight visitors of all ages. The central waterfall adds to the peaceful atmosphere, while the lake is home to big and amusing fish that can be easily spotted. The park offers various walking routes with different levels of incline, allowing visitors to choose their preferred distance and difficulty level.
The most romantic place in Kotka. The wonderful waterfall, nice garden, pretty flowers, benches, cute white bridges, ducks and other birds - this place is unique. I love being there! 🩵❤️🩷🧡💛💚

It is one of the best tourist attractions in the sea town of Kotka. Kotka is already famous as sea port of Finland and Sapokka Water Garden is added feather in its beauty. Though the waterfall looks artificial, and it’s artificial, the scenic beauty around the park is tremendous. The live fishes in the adjacent pool/lake gives it an authentic attraction. It’s not that kid’s friendly that is kids can’t move around unattended. There are some free parking spaces around. You will find some fine dine restaurants around.

Kotka's best-kept magical secret. A waterfall-fed dreamscape disguised as a public park. Feels like stepping into a Miyazaki film—serene, chaotic, natural, and oddly punk. Perfect for a quiet stroll, deep thoughts, or dramatic selfies. Bonus: ducks.
Niehku S — Google review
By far one of the best parks, I have visited in all of Finland. Why though? The first reason is the awesome location of the park. Very easily assessable by both, public transport and cars. The park is situated at the tip of the island and the city of Kotka. The second reason is the very beautiful waterfall and the lake where it leads. By far the best waterfall that I have seen in Southern Finland. And the third reason is the beautiful vegetation of the park. There is all from beautiful peonies to cool-looking and well in blending trees.
Peeti S — Google review
A beautiful park and garden with water elements, bridges, breathtaking flowers and various trees with a Japanese touch. Even a small waterfall. Worth visiting especially in the summer. Also possible to visit by boat or car. A 15 min walk from the Kotka bus station.

A great place — the kids and we loved it. Thank you!

I guess nothing special for adults but kids will probably have fun looking at the fish. The biggest, floor-ceiling aquarium was probably the most impressive thing we have seen there.

Interesting and well presented aquarium of Finnish fish. Price is a bit steep considering the size and length of visit but worthwile visit nevertheless. Recommend to check their schedules first, we didn't but lucked out that the feeding of the fish happened during our visit. Nice event to see divers feed the fish in the aquarium.

At all it's nice place 😊. Most of all I like a aquarium where you can put your head inside aquarium and look. As for me it's too dark place, but I think it's good for habitants of this place.

Great experience, friendly reception, very informative, we got to see some of the fish being fed by the staff/a diver. In each feed the staff explained about natural habitats of each fish and their characteristics. With 2 floors building it was suitable to move around with kids. I highly recommend😊👍

lovely fish and nice place to visit. lady at the front desk was nice. after you pay and before you begin the tour there’s fish costumes hanging on the wall, very cute. me and my family put on some and were giggling at them. i loved my fish costume. another worker walked down the stairs and stood next to the desk and was making very mean faces at us. she looked judgy and disgusted and i dont understand why. she also loudly began talking to the girl at the desk and pointing to my mother and sister. my little kid sister got sad and took off her fish costume because some grown adult woman was making faces at us, not very discretely and for no reason. i felt bad about my fish costume for a second, too, and i’m grown. and then decided some rude worker having a bad day or a plainly rude personality isnt gonna affect my experience. would go again, though.

Great place to visit. Most of it is outside so check the weather before heading out. And don't wear your fanciest shoes.
Makettaja — Google review
A smallish museum with about a dozen field guns and some nice trenches and a bunker. The outdoor stuff and the bunker are all free to look at. Indoors there is a Cafe and the small museum. Languages for the displays are Finnish, English, and Russian. The English language is a fair (not great) translation. Some nice walks loop back here. Don't expect everything to be in all three languages across the facility. Overall cheap and easy hour at the museum area and then time on the walks.

Small museum, but fascinating history

This museum brings alive the hardship the soldiers faced in preparing the defences against the possibility of a Russian attack, as well as the tactics employed to achieve this. Sign posting of the various routes were not so clear and even a sign for the museum entrance was no where to be seen. A work in motion as modernisation/repairs of the buildings etc were taking place.
Stephen T — Google review
We visited the Virolahti Bunker Museum right after the Salpa Line Museum, and we were disappointed with the items on display. It seems to us that the Bunker Museum is copying the Salpa Line Museum but does not come near in the historical documentation or the items on display. We took the ‘Unknown Soldier’ trek which was 4.3 km, and there wasn’t much to see apart from occasional poster boards featuring photo clips from the latest making of the movie. There were also a couple of bunkers in very poor condition, unlike the well-maintained and illuminated bunkers in the Salpa Line Museum. Furthermore, the staff at the Bunker Museum did not even seem interested in selling us tickets or advising us on which of the two treks to take, which would have been very helpful and saved us the time we wasted walking the ‘Unknown Soldier’ trek. If you’re interested in the Salpa Line, just visit the Salpa Line Museum.

I attempted to visit the Local History Museum of Koivisto/Primorsk. Unfortunately, it was closed during my visit, so I couldn't explore its exhibits. However, the exterior of the museum is absolutely beautiful. The well-maintained building and its charming surroundings offer a glimpse into the region's rich history. I look forward to returning when it’s open to fully appreciate what it has to offer inside.

The clock tower has been anticipating visitors for an extended period. Admission is exclusively granted through guided tours, available to those aged 12 and above. The staircase leading to the observation deck is positioned at a near-vertical angle, making it a challenging ascent; however, the panoramic view from the top is stunning.
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, we bought a tour, but didn’t get to the tower. Either we misunderstood, or the information on the site needs to be corrected. The excursion time is indicated there, for example from 11 to 12 o'clock. Can't you just write that the tour starts exactly at 11.00? The tower is very interesting, it’s a shame we didn’t get to visit it.

(Translated by Google) The tower is beautiful on the outside and interesting on the inside. The observation deck has a beautiful view of the city; you can only get to it with a guided tour. I really liked the excursion, the guide was a great guy, he spent an hour telling a lot of interesting things about the history of the tower and the city, showed the workings of the clock mechanism, and helped everyone take photos on the observation deck. Tickets for the excursion can only be purchased on the website in advance for a certain time; if you are even a minute late, you will not be allowed in, the door to the tower will be closed. Such rules are understandable, because the wooden staircase inside the tower is not wide and quite steep, the observation deck is small, and all this is not suitable for unorganized crowds of people. And the guide cannot leave the group and run up and down the steep stairs to open the door at every knock. So buy your tickets in advance, don't be late, and everything will be great.

(Translated by Google) The Vyborg Clock Tower could tell a lot. For 529 years she has been looking at the city, at the successive generations of people. It was originally the bell tower of the Church of St. Mary and St. Olaf (cathedral). It was built, according to sources, in 1494. It burned, changed its appearance and functionality. The clock mechanism in the tower has been in operation since 1848. The door is padlocked. You can’t just get into the building and the observation deck: only organized excursions and only with prior purchase of tickets on the website (THE MUSEUM). In winter and autumn, access to the observation deck is not permitted. There is a strange art object next to the tower. A door with the inscription “All power to cats” and pockets for correspondence with cats.

A century later, a clock appeared on the belfry and from that time on it began to be called the Clock Tower. . The tower burned repeatedly. After each fire it was repaired and transformed. I will post photos of the changes in stories. . In the 18th century, the bell tower acquired a superstructure, on the first tier of which a clock was installed. Kruglaya Bashnya, a historical military tower from the 14th century, now serves as a unique restaurant with a medieval theme. The establishment offers an array of delectable dishes that are beautifully presented and of high quality, all at affordable prices. Their menu also includes a noteworthy selection of vegetarian options, with the pumpkin soup being highly recommended. Not only is the food exceptional, but the service provided is also commendable.
Here in lovely Vyborg/Viipuri in Russia, a city close to the Finnish border, there is the Round Tower Restaurant right on the market square and the market hall. As the name suggests this restaurant is inside a round tower located in the center of the city. It is a tower from the 16th century and you reach the restaurant through a circular stair and there are many wall paintings on the way up. Having reached the top there is the Round Tower Restaurant with a wooden ceiling and many more paintings on the wall of famous figures on the history of the region. The food served here is delicious. We had several courses and started with a plate of herring with potatoes and onions and on another plate there was rolled ham with cream sauce. As next course came a Quiche with sea food and an apple slice. Then we had medallions with cream sauce, as well as omelet with meat and boiled potatoes and cabbage. And followed by vanilla ice cream and fruits as dessert. All course were very delicious. From Vyborg, Russia with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

SJ4 Fort Poppius (Mannerheim Line)

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
The SJ4 Fort Poppius, also known as the Mannerheim Line, is a captivating historical site. It offers a unique and intriguing glimpse into the Finnish war. This landmark holds great significance and is well worth a visit for those with an interest in history. The fortifications themselves are impressive, showcasing the strength that once protected this strategic location.
(Translated by Google) Looks scary in cloudy weather! And there is a feeling as if the soldiers are sitting in the trenches and watching us! Fort Poppius, also known as fortification SJ4, was part of the Mannerheim Line, a Finnish defensive line created in the 1930s to protect the Karelian Isthmus from the Army of the Soviet Union. This fort became one of the key sites of the line due to its strategic location. The fort was a powerful concrete fortification equipped with underground rooms, casemates for artillery guns and machine gun emplacements. The thickness of the walls reached 2 meters, which made it practically invulnerable to artillery attacks. It was designed for a crew of several dozen soldiers, who were provided with supplies for a long time. Historical significance: During the Soviet-Finnish War (1939–1940), Fort Poppius played an important role for the Finnish Army. The Finns demonstrated high skill and discipline, and the facility itself withstood massive attacks and artillery shelling. As a result, despite Finland's defeat in the war, the Mannerheim line, including Poppius, went down in history as a symbol of resistance. Today, the remains of this fortification are a popular destination for military history researchers and tourists. Massive concrete structures, mossy with time, and traces of past battles create a unique atmosphere, returning us to the dramatic events of the past. There are many defensive structures throughout the forest; not far from this place there is a “Bunker of Death” and other bunkers.

Many fortifications are easy to find and can be reached by any car. Not only are the fortifications impressive, but also the force that tore them apart. (Original) Это тоже наша история, нужно видеть такие места и надпись "в этом месте была прорвана линия Маннергейма" будет восприниматься по другому. Morskoy Sobor Svyatitelya Nikolaya Chudotvortsa, also known as the Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt, is a stunning Russian Orthodox cathedral constructed in the early 20th century to serve as the main church for the Russian Navy. Although it was repurposed several times over the years, it was eventually reinstated as a place of worship by the Russian Orthodox Church.
Worth visiting 30 minutes on the bus from Peterhof. 1km. slow walk from ิus stop. You may be could not find any better than with exception for St.Isaac Cathedral. Without admission fee. you can feel even better. You can sense feeling of greatness of the place and sense of local on the same time. It was considered on the best in St. Petersburg

Really beautiful building with an interesting history, built and paid for by the sailors of Kronstadt, restored back to it's full original splendour. Definitely worth a visit when in St Petersburg. It is a bit of a mission to get there, it is close to Peterhof however.
IGuideU — Google review
The Naval Cathedral of St. Nicholas is truly the heart and soul of Kronstadt — a breathtaking masterpiece that perfectly blends spirituality, history, and architecture. From the moment you see its golden dome rising above the city, you understand why it’s often called the “Naval St. Isaac’s Cathedral.” The exterior is majestic, but the real magic begins once you step inside. The interior is filled with shimmering mosaics, marble floors, and intricate icons, all dedicated to the memory of Russian sailors who lost their lives at sea. The atmosphere is both solemn and awe-inspiring. Whether you’re religious or simply love art and history, this cathedral leaves a deep emotional impression. The acoustics are amazing — if you’re lucky, you might even hear the choir during a service. The cathedral stands on Anchor Square, surrounded by naval monuments and museums, which makes it the perfect centerpiece of a day trip to Kronstadt. Tip: Visit in the late afternoon for the best sunlight on the domes and fewer crowds. ⭐ Rating: 5/5 — A must-see landmark and one of the most beautiful churches in Russia.
Savant ' — Google review
This remains a functional church, also with a second floor (no tourist access) meaning the interior is less grandiose and relatively small, however no less ornate than other churches you may visit. Worth a visit of you have some extra time, the most beautiful views are from the exterior with the baby blue facade.
Sourav B — Google review
Definitely worth visiting if you're on travel trip in Kronstadt. It has 3 levels and you can get on every of these levels. I recommend visiting the top level, it is located under the dome and you can observe whole city from there.

Beautiful church. It offers to buy candles and other souvenirs from this church. It is close to parks and the harbor. Definitely worth a visit. Dress modest when visiting. Best is to bring a shawl for ladies, because they require the head to be covered. They provide shawls in case you do not have one. No restroom inside, but there are restrooms closeby, you have to pay though.

If you find yourself in Repino, a visit to the Ilya Repin Museum-Estate "Penaty" is an enriching experience that delves into the life of one of Russia's most celebrated painters. This charming location served as Repin's final residence and is where he both lived and passed away. The museum offers guided tours that provide fascinating insights into his artistic journey and the historical context of the area during his lifetime, particularly its transition into Soviet territory.
Couldn't get inside since the tickets booth closes down at 5pm but walking through the park is enjoyable even by itself. I would recommend going there at autumn, its especially lovely this time of the year

This place is about famous russian painter Repin. He lived there for a long time and paint a lot of his pictures. House was destroyed during WW2 and was rebuild again by the photos. Now there are museum and park. Museum excursion will tell about life and work of the painter. Walking in the park allow to feel the soul of that place.
Peter K — Google review
The wooden house was built in 1960 in accordance with drawings, which remained after the fire of 1944. That fire destroyed everything around. The house, which is more than 75 years old, requires significant renovation. There are just several original subjects there, which belonged to Mr. I. Repin. The several small and not well-known pictures by Mr. I. Repin and his students and several units of furniture exposed were taken from Repin's apartment in St. Petersburg; other subjects were brought from different places with the aim to give an impression of the epoch. It was very dark in the rooms, and most of pictures were almost invisible. The visitors, who want to see exposition, are advised to take pocket lights with them. The forest with paths leading to several sights of interest including the grave of the artist and summer theater, surrounds the manor. Unfortunately these paths are not properly lighted and poorly supplied with pointers.
Alexander K — Google review
If you should ever end up in Repino, a visit to the painter Ilya Repin's last home, where he died, and also is buried, is a very interesting experience. Not only is it interesting to learn about the painter, but also to get insight into the history of this area, which became a part of the Soviet Union while he lived and worked here. The place is now a museum, and it is required to take a guided tour to get inside the main building. They have soundtracks during the tour in a bunch of languages. During our visit, we got English guiding, and right behind us they arranged for a visitor from China.

Peterhof, also known as Paleizencomplex in Peterhof, is a seafront museum complex located in a former royal palace surrounded by parkland. It is renowned for its numerous fountains and is a top destination for various activities such as water sports, boat rides, kiteboarding, and exploring gardens. The palace itself offers an intriguing glimpse into the lives of ancient inhabitants through its royal rooms and exclusive chandeliers.
This amazing Park and Palace is an expression of Russian Imperial splendor. It was built by Peter the Great as his summer palace. The site is listed as UNESCO World Heritage. As you cross the parking area there is a good handicrafts market, which actually is very good and you must go through while returning from the garden. I visited in early spring, Lush gardens are mesmerizing, with extravagant palace buildings, beautiful golden statues and a cascade of fountains. Vibrant flowers were everywhere in proper layout. At 1 PM, there is some musical show at the backdrop of the palace in front of the golden statues with fireworks and some performance. I visited the place on Saturday; I am not sure the show is daily or only on weekends. We were not able to catch the show as we were not aware of it earlier. We were at the farther end of the park at that time and we reached at the spot when the show was coming to an end, however I witnessed some closing fireworks. This is a must go venue, don’t miss it while visiting St Petersburg.

Not too expensive and it's really really good, so many fountains. So many views. So much green. But during peak times it can get crowded. And so many people taking photos. The big museum is for additional fee, but even the garden is difficult to visit all in one day.

Great but a bit smaller than expected. Takes around 15 mins to walk the entire complex on your own, 45 if part of a tour. Summer season still on as of writing, so separate tickets for the garden, then the palace complex for 3,200 RUB total. You need the garden ticket to enter the compound, turn left, then enter the palace building. No line at ticket counters on a weekday 2 PM. Practically empty. Just 3-4 tour groups and they move fast.

Opulence turned into landscape. The palace feels like it was built just to prove what human hands can do when given no limits. Golden statues everywhere, fountains that move with impossible precision, and that long axis leading straight to the sea, pure theater. Inside, it’s mirrors, chandeliers, and silence heavy with history. Outside, it’s joy and spectacle. You walk away a little dazzled, a little jealous, and completely convinced that beauty can be engineered.

THIS IS NOT the Peter and Paul's Cathedral where the Romanov's are buried (that one is in St. Pet center within the same name fortress on an island). THIS IS the same name Cathedral in Peterhof, around 45 min from the center. It totally differs in style and year of construction from the St. Pet's one. This one in Peterhof is just across the road from the Peterhof summer Palace complex (read that review). It's a beautiful classic Russian style Cathedral built around 1900, almost 200 years after the St. Pet one. It's just by the bus stop that will take you back to center so it's worth visiting its beautiful interiors

My favorite church of all Russia. It's more beautiful than the church on the spilled blood in St. Peter. And best yet, no line. I just walked right in on a Wednesday. It smells really nice in there and they can bless your crucifix or buy an icon there as well. Praise the LORD JESUS, Amen.

The church is located opposite the Peterhof. Most visitors like to visit this red brick. Outside is an orthodox church that so beautiful and look like the Church of our Savior on the Spilled Blood. Its building was damaged during the World War II and closed for years till reopened again after renovation.

Awesome The Peter and Paul Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located inside the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is the first and oldest landmark in St. Petersburg, built between 1712 and 1733 on Hare Island along the Neva River. Both the cathedral and the fortress were originally built under Peter the Great and designed by Domenico Trezzini. The cathedral's bell tower is the world's tallest Orthodox bell tower. Since the belfry is not standalone, but an integral part of the main building, the cathedral is sometimes considered the highest Orthodox Church in the world. There is another Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul Church in St. Petersburg, located in Petergof.

After visiting park if the weather is good enough, one could spend some time on the beach of a small lake, buy some food and beverages in restaurant and enjoy the pine wood. Amazing place, highly recommend
