Tampere Cathedral

Mentioned on
38 lists
Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Tampere Cathedral, also known as the church of St. John, is a striking example of National Romantic art-nouveau architecture. Completed in 1907, this imposing granite-built church features three steeples and red-tiled roofs that contrast with its subtle stone facade, exuding understated elegance. Inside, visitors can admire controversial frescoes and stained glass created by Hugo Simberg, depicting naked childlike apostles and dreamlike scenes.
The colours of the glass with the open plan architecture makes this a welcoming and deep place of reflection. Highly recommend you come here..
Steven W — Google review
Truly one of the most amazing churches I have seen both outside and inside. From the outside it looks like a medieval castle, and from the inside it is a true work of art. It houses one of the most famous paintings in Finland, the Fallen Angel, as well as another striking one with a skull. The interior has many unusual elements that make you curious to learn more about its history and culture. We entered just after a wedding, and within five minutes we could go in without any problem. Everything was spotless. You can also walk up from one of the sides and admire the church from that angle, and it is completely free. We were lucky to hear someone playing the piano during our visit, which made the atmosphere even more special. A must-see in Tampere, and perhaps even in all of Finland.
Humberto D — Google review
Magnificent! So pretty! The entrance way is so magical! We weren't inside the building due to wedding ceremony but I would like to visit some other time!

Tampere Cathedral (Tuomiokirkko) • Location: Tuomiokirkonkatu 3b, Tampere • Built: 1902–1907 • Style: National Romantic (Finnish early 20th-century style) • Famous for: • Frescoes by Hugo Simberg like The Wounded Angel and The Garden of Death • Altar painting by Magnus Enckell • Visiting: Free entry; open daily (hours depend on season) • Function: Lutheran cathedral, holds regular services and events
Chamika H — Google review
One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have been to. The exterior is built from stone. There are 2000 seats inside. Astonishing design.

Beautiful Cathedral with amazing architecture.

I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful cathedral whilst visiting for one of Tarja's Christmas shows. Finland has beautiful architecture throughout its country. Tarja's show made this environment even more surreal.
Jessica C — Google review
Quite special! Untypical architecture (I think it can be very nice and cozy inside there when in winter). I was at 16.30 o clock there on a July day and was for half an hour-all alone. There was no admission fee.

Särkänniemi Aquarium

Mentioned on
+19 other lists
Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Nestled within the vibrant Särkänniemi Adventure Park, the Särkänniemi Aquarium offers a delightful experience for families and marine enthusiasts alike. While it may not be the largest aquarium around, its charm lies in its intimate setting where visitors can explore various exhibits at their own pace. The aquarium showcases an array of fascinating fish species, along with some intriguing reptiles like snakes and turtles. It's a perfect spot to engage children with nature while learning about aquatic life.
Free entry during Tampere Day Oct 1. Can see few species of fishes, a couple of snakes water gators and turtles.
Al J — Google review
It’s such a small place, it takes you about 10-15 minutes to visit everything here. And you don’t get to see something that special. Is ok for enjoying with the kids but, that is about it! A little bit disappointed.
Rusu C — Google review
The aquarium is fine, not very big so it can be seen in around 1 hour. There are stairs and no elevator so a pram was not possible to be used for our child. Downside is all information about the animals is written in Finnish, except for a few facts here and there. Be wary, there’s parking in the amusement park premises, but it costs 18€ independently of the length of your stay, which is crazy expensive!
Francesc — Google review
It's a really nice aquarium with a lot of animals. They have the "stars", animals that have been there for a long time and have a good story behind them, super interesting to know. The only problem is that it's not too big but it's amazing and they have a lot of different species!!
Daniel G — Google review
The aquarium consist of two floors with about 30 exhibits. Some of which are terrariums and paludariums. Sadly many of the tanks are quite cramped with fish. They have a sturgeon that is barely able to swim in circles. Other tanks are in dire need of a proper cleaning. Okayish for young children to look at the animals. The price was €10 and you're done in around 1 hour.
Cyclonit — Google review
Small but cute and enjoyable place. Very good addition to the rest, which makes a good combination for making the day fun for everybody.
Tommi W — Google review
Quite nice place, not the biggest aquarium but if you take the time to thoroughly look at every exhibition, and read all the information about every fish, youll be plenty entertained. Good experience, some fascinating fishes.
Richard — Google review
A small aquarium, but enough for a family trip. I saw some parents trying to show the children the new species here.

Pyynikki Coffee Shop & Observation Tower

Mentioned on
+14 other lists
Cafe
Nature & Parks
Located in the Pyynikki district of Tampere, the Pyynikki Coffee Shop & Observation Tower is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The small cafe, nestled in the old observation tower, is renowned for its freshly baked and delicious doughnuts that are a hit on social media. Visitors can also enjoy locally roasted coffee from Tampereen Paahtimo while taking in the stunning panoramic views from the 26-meter lookout tower atop Pyynikki hill.
Famous for their donuts / munkki, always fresh and very tasty. Good traditional Finnish coffee, and tea. The space is simple but cozy. Great spot in Tampere, worth going for a walk in the woods and checking the views up on the tower.
Eduardo P — Google review
Great local cafe! We really enjoyed the Mukkis (kinda like a donut but a different batter and taste). The Kinkkupiirakka (ham pie) was absolutely amazing. I suggest the local soda made by the cafe. They have a strawberry and spruce flavor. Both are good. They have tea, coffee and juice as well. After we ventured up to the top of the tower to take in the beautiful view of the city. You can take the stairs or ride the elevator. There are a few stairs then at the end to get to the top. We had a beautiful day with breathtaking skies. Definitely recommend. After there are trails to walk that can take you in any direction in town. All tree covered, at least in the summer.
Kristy V — Google review
The donut texture is great, nice and chewy. The flavor is good but has cardamom, which may turn some people off. I also liked the cheesecake a lot. It didn’t have a very strong cheese flavor and tasted slightly of vanilla. When I went there was a long line. They have another location at Tampere Market Hall, which is also closer to everything else in the city. I didn’t verify that the food was the same though
Matt L — Google review
I haven't been here since we lived in Tampere in 1997. This place was on my bucket list upon returning for a vacation in July of 2025. It's the first place I ever tried a Finnish munkki. It did not disappoint! Beautiful scenery, fabulous views of Tampere and the lakes, plus delicious munkki with coffee ☕️. I'm so glad this lived up to my memories. ($2 to ride the elevator to see the views.)
Wendy R — Google review
They have vegan donut (only large size, 3 euros) and it was very tasty! A bit too much sugar for my taste but I could just shake some off and everyone else said it wasn’t too much. Coffee also was surprisingly good for coming from a filter coffee machine. Probably because there’s a lot of people buying and the coffee is made frequently. The line can be long since it’s a small and busy shop.
S L — Google review
It takes some effort to find the Pyynikki tower when you come by public transport, but it's totally worth a visit! The donuts are freshly made and just delicious (if you like cardamom!). Tickets to the observation tower cost only 2 euros for adults, so that's a bargain! From downstairs the tower looked disappointingly low to me, but since the tower is on the top of a hill, the view is great anyway! If you don't feel like walking up the stairs, there's an elevator as well. Tip: you can go even 1 floor higher to the roof.
Vinodh L — Google review
I'm Polish, so I know what a good doughnut is like, and these are excellent doughnuts ;) We came on a rainy Sunday afternoon, so it was not too busy and we could enjoy the food from a cozy window overlooking the forest. It is possible to park for free at the top along the road leading to the tower, there is a free toilet, and the café can be accessed without paying the fee for the tower.
Natalia M — Google review
Probably the best doughnuts I have ever had. Make sure you try the spruce lemonade soda. It's made in house and it's fantastic.

suprisengly nice spot in middle of finland💁😀😂 good food and friendly staff woman says that the prices are also good💁🤦‍♂️😀 beer places are avabible🍻🍻😀👌
Kaspar E — Google review
Part shopping centre, part social commentary. Tuurin kyläkauppa is a strange blend of consumer spectacle and faux luxury, like someone tried to bring Vegas to rural Finland. There's a feeling of faded grandeur, with gold-coloured finishes and a sense of trying very hard to impress. It’s a glimpse into what "lotto-win luxury" might look like to everyday folks. Worth a visit just to experience this surreal slice of Finnish/American kitsch. Great service.
Sami T — Google review
Different vibe.! Love this place a lot👌
Ranjana T — Google review
This place was stunning. I was there at this summer, and it was good. The Tivoli, shop, Moomin park and food. I also got free fries, comics and ice cream. When I was at the store, I was stunned. I'm more old metal/rock and movies, and god there was much of them! I bought a Metallica merch there and it fitted very nice too me. I liked when there was a Lightning McQueen, and the Lego bulding of Tuuri. The paintings was so stunning too. I liked that unicorn thingie. This place bringed me back as a little child. Recommend to go there!
Liam K — Google review
Disappointed. Just a big building filled with stuff you can find all over Finland. Not worth the hassle of parking and dealing with a thousand people in one place. Lots of things to do that attract young families, which is great. I can only imagine what it would be like on a rainy Saturday around lunchtime. 😅

Nestled in the heart of South Ostrobothnia, Huvivaltio PowerPark is a sprawling amusement park that promises fun for visitors of all ages. With an impressive array of rides ranging from thrilling roller coasters to family-friendly attractions, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The park also features go-karts and mini-golf, making it a perfect destination for those seeking adventure and entertainment.
Absolutely brilliant place to go with the kids. A bit unlucky that it was +29 when we were there. But no queues and so many different rides and things to do for all ages.
Henrik Ö — Google review
✅️Total experience was great ✅️The park and the city are both very beautiful ✅️The pizza buffet was good ❌️The only thing that I didn't like was the indoor Karting. The boost buttons for all of us were deactivated without telling us. I was pushing the boost button all the time, hoping it would work.
Behnaz — Google review
Really nice rides, no long waits. And it was one of the nicest days of summer. it is really good that they allow you to bring your own food and everything is fairly well situated. We didn't have time for the carting and movies though, so perhaps a 2 day visit is preferable for the full experience.
Laura R — Google review
Really cool rides, a challenge even for dare devils. It’s good to know that kids may have the height but not the age for some of the rides and they have to be accompanied by an adult (over 15 years). If you don’t wanna go yourself you can ask a service host in the park if they can arrange for someone in the personell to go with your child. Great service (and a cool job to have 😆). Surprisingly few of the staff speak any other language but Finnish. I really like the variety of food choices in the park. You can eat a healthy sallad or a buffet of pizza and tacos and of course all other choices we associate with amusement parks. On the downside the park closes early and some of the staff have a really low service level. I also think it’s worrying how they don’t speak any English. How is that even possible? They don’t listen to the customer to hear what language they speak. They just assume everyone speaks Finnish. But even though: Highly recommended!
Emma L — Google review
Introduction PowerPark is a large amusement park that offers attractions for both children and adults. Visitors are drawn to its wide variety of rides and activities, with something suitable for every age group. Attractions There are many rides designed for younger children, and one of the highlights is the wooden roller coaster. The park also features several water rides, perfect for warmer days. In addition to rides, there are plenty of carnival-style games where you can win prizes – but be prepared to spend quite a bit of money before you succeed. Prices and facilities Admission is surprisingly affordable: €8 for an adult ticket, which is very cheap compared to most amusement parks in Europe. Inside the park you’ll find several restaurants, snack stands, and a shop with toys and souvenirs. Additional activities Beyond the amusement rides, the park also includes a large karting track, a cinema, and a campsite for those who want to stay longer. This makes PowerPark more than just a typical amusement park. Practical information An interesting bonus is free entry during the last hour before closing. However, most rides and restaurants are already closed at that time. Still, it can be worthwhile for a quick walk around the park or to get a brief impression of what’s on offer. Conclusion PowerPark combines affordable pricing, entertaining attractions, and extra activities, making it one of the more accessible and versatile parks in Europe. It is suitable for families, couples, and anyone looking for a fun day out in a relaxed setting.

I was there in a sunny day, and it was stunning! The rides, the food and I didn't need to wait long, like 5-10 minutes. My favourite ride was Junker. Recommend to go there at summer!

Staff were very friendly. There's a restaurant but you could also bring your own snacks. Water was warm and suitable for all ages. The slides were very good, my kids had fun 😁.

A good water park for all ages. From two months old to older. Although the park area is not very large, it has a good variety. Two indoor and outdoor pools with safe slides for children up to two years old and two pools for older children. Several different slides for adults, a wave pool, a restaurant and a cafe, sun loungers, and a couple of jacuzzis. Also a sauna and massage (which was closed when we went). The men's and women's changing rooms are clean and tidy. The quality of the food was also very good. The park facilities are not very extensive but good. The price (27 euros for an adult) is very high. Parking is difficult to find during the summer holidays. The various areas are wheelchair accessible. The staff is very friendly.
Amir M — Google review
Nice place to go swimming with family especially with kids.
Ravichandra R — Google review
The receptionist chose the wrong amount of food for us and we reported that to the receptionist but they just said there was nothing they could do because the food was already done , we ended up eating more food than we needed and had to pay for it , I think they should retrain the receptionists and they need to remember to read all the items the customer ordered before proceeding 🙄
Quan D — Google review
Fun water park for all ages including massive water slides outside. Spent 3.5 hours in the water with a six year old who loved it. Really friendly staff with jumper cable car starting kit on site for when camper van failed to start.

Shraddha V — Google review
I wish I had seen this when this place was new. Strong 5 stars would be for that it is survived over the years. 3 stars only because I want to be honest for others. As activity facility it is surely nice place to be in summer and during warm days for sure. For kids nothing matters all they want is warm water and a lots to play. Adults see and notice that better days has gone and place needs to be updated and renovated into original shine and maintained for customer eyes to that glory that it should be. This all was noticed while sitting in bubble bath and looking to the ceiling and around. Price big or small matters for people with different wallet thickness and taste of surroundings, but I considered it costly for four person family. Now I know and have been and considering going only when price is lowered to the level that premises provide today and not more.
E M — Google review
Has something to offer for everyone, even very small slides for our 2 year old child. Temperature is good (water and air) so that you feel comfortable even for longer stays. Showers were very clean. Easily accessible via car and enough parking spaces available. A bit expensive but still ok.

Cannot really complain about anything, beach is close, there is tennis court, padel court, fat bike renting, adventure park Huikee, ice cream shop and a burger joint. More than I bargained for. The cabins had air conditioning and decent equipment. Saunas were good. Bath barrel was good too. The upstairs sleeping are was very basic, but that is always the case in these cabins.

Nice Beach but Many things need work for... like bus stations and WC
Sami H — Google review
An okay campground, but a bit noisy at night. Also, it was weird that while their website states their reception is open until 24, they actually closed at 11. I had to take care of some stuff after that, and was greeted with some classic Finnish unfriendliness calling my business “ihme säätö” :D
Tuomas M — Google review
Value for price does not match. Cabin was desent, but there is no owen, washing machine, drying cabinet. No wi-fi. Those should be standard equipment for so valued area. Also grill is available for extra price 40 euros which also should be included for rent like most of the cabins are.
Marko V — Google review
We stayed in one of the smallest cabins, which was cozy and nice, a bit hot though as we could not keep the door open due to a bee problem throughout the camping grounds. Althought the cabin was nice, the services in the accomodation area seem to be a bit lacking. Not sure if it was the reason that we stayed during August, which is the start of off season, or is it like this all year round. The restaurant Dyyni was not open, when it was said to be open, the grill place was filled with bees, as other guests had left trash out and filled the coal bin with trashes too.. All in all, it felt like the staff had already given up on taking care of the area.

5 stars is nowhere enough but it's all I can give. Phenomenal collection. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Talked for a good while with one of the brothers and the passion and insight was incredible. Perfect place for a afternoon trip to this museum of vivid collection of guitars from around the world. Located at city center near the bus stop. Join their guided tour (both in English and Swedish) to precisely know about the all stories connected with each guitar. Exciting to learn more about the Elvis Presley and other guitar legends.

The museum is definitely worth a visit. The guided tour was really super good and the museum is super nice. 10/10 would visit again.

A must visit place if you love guitars. The brothers have an unique collection of the legendary masterpieaces of the 50’s and 60’s era, the born and the beginning of the electric guitars. There are some guitars you can see only here! They make a guided tour, on english too, it’s about 45 minutes. Totally worth it!

(Translated by Google) Perfect accommodation, nice owner. However, I was deceived that it was bed and breakfast, but there was no breakfast. Not the owner's fault as I found info on google from a 3rd party. Fresh and functional. Also accepts animals for an extra cleaning fee. (Big plus) Parking is available next door. Own shower and toilet. TV. TV.

5-star experience! After roaming around at the fortress last month we had lunch at the restaurant where I asked if they served Swedish Meatballs (this was off menu). The friendly waitress informed us that would be no problem and immediately requested the chef to make a *delicious* dish of Swedish meatballs with potato mousse - free of charge!! It is without a doubt that we will return and introduce our guests to the fortress and welcoming restaurant.

Best view (by far), lunch buffet and prices in Sweden. Will come back!!
Mat S — Google review
Its all about the view and the history about Hemsö färstning. The restaurant is of good quality, looks and feel newly built. Get the "good table" close to the cannon and enjoy you meal, beer och glas of wine. Very friendly staff. Be prepared for bus-tours visiting, so from beeing completly empy the restaurant (and its toilets) can be full in mather of minutes. Great place, you should go.
Jim S — Google review
The guided tour was fantastic, apart from an old worker from the base that kept interrupting our awesome tour guide and trying to take over the show, feel really sorry for our guide, we could tell he was losing the interest of speaking because of the old guy after a few stops. The restaurant on the other hand , the buffet looked like a disgrace, sure if you want to pay 120kr for a salad buffet go ahead but me and the 6 others decided to drive an hour to find more appealing food, sorry guys but you need to pick up your game in the kitchen.
The K — Google review
The restaurant was open airy with big windows facing the sea. When the weather is.good.you also have some tables outside to use. Really good food and polite staff. This is a lunch restaurant. If you like military history and good food this is the place.

Value for money! The buffet is 120 SEK and is really good, very tasteful!! Perfect price model for kids as well, 10 SEK per years old.

Charming place. We stayed in the local community hotel when doing our tour of Sweden for our honeymoon. We were greeted with a Christmass market which we promptly visited while exploring the town. As if taken straight from a postcard. Loved it!

Vildriket

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Great concept, with a collection of Nordic fauna and flora. Well set up, with a wooden walkway all around the mountain forest park overlooking the animal enclosures, and with lovely very Swedish rest spots along the way, with grilling facilities. Open every day of the year, from 10:00-15:00. It says on GoogleMaps that people typically spend 20 min to 1 hr at Vildriket. I think that is a gross underestimation. We spent about 4 hrs there ourselves. I think it would also be nice to pay a visit in the evening when the animals are a little more active, especially with all the owl species they have.
Helen H — Google review
Such a gem! We had a wonderful time. We spent there 2.5 hours and even though it was raining it didn't make the experience any less exciting. The platforms were not slippery at all even when wet. Each animals had a wonderful story with interesting facts. There were only two exhibits that didn't have animals due to very clearly explained reasons. There were a lot of public toilets available with small distances from each other.
Sona M — Google review
Easy walk on the wooden path. Lots to see, lots of good information, and nicely shaded. The animals looked well cared for. Information is in Swedish with English summaries. I enjoyed this as a solo adult traveler, probably even better for kids. Note that they rebranded to Vildsriket from Järvsö Zoo and Google Maps can still be a bit messy.
Hannah L — Google review
Excellent park to go with kids. Easy to navigate, lots of different animals to see, and well maintained. It's great to see animals being preserved and people being educated. It's also right next to a ski slope, and within the park itself there are like obstacle courses for kids tbag makes it fun for kids to be engaged. We really enjoyed our visit.

First of all where do I start? I had a fantastic stay at the Wolf Hotel. From start to finish it was amazing! An unforgettable experience. Everybody was so kind from Jensen to Karin, and all the other staff I had the pleasure of meeting, thank you! Breakfast in the other hotel everyday was really yummy. It had everything you could want! I even ate there in the evening, it was delicious. Now for the hotel... I heard the wolves howling as soon as I walked in 😂.The room was super spacious, warm and very comfortable. I had everything I needed. The little kitchenette upstairs was very well equipped and clean. The whole property for cleanliness I would rate 10/10. I did venture into the zoo at night a little bit, it was snowing when I went and the whole atmosphere was magical. I saw all the animals!! (except the bears of course) The animals were so friendly and came up close so I was able to see the them all! The wolverines I think we're my FAVOURITE. I had never seen one before and they were so interactive and fun! Each animal was of course gorgeous! It was amazing to see them all. The wolves you can tell are so well looked after, from the fur to the size of them. I have been to other zoos in UK where they look thin and unhappy but not at Järvzoo. Each time I went past the wolf pen they came out and were very interested. The whole park is beautiful. I went at the start of November and I am so glad I did. There are so many things to discover. The town is very nice to walk around, the buildings are very quaint. I definitely fell in love with Sweden especially Järvzoo. I cannot wait to come back and hopefully soon! ❤️🐺🦊🦌

Great, well-maintained park with large animal enclosures and many picnic areas. Playground and 2 cafe/restaurant options onsite. Great views of the valley from many spots in the park. Tickets are not cheap but the place is well worth a visit.

Järvzoo is a fantastic Nordic zoo set in a beautiful forest in the heart of Sweden. The sweeping boardwalk makes the experience much more natural as if you’re peering down into the habitat of animals in the wild. One thing to note is that some of the main attractions such as the bears will be hibernating during the colder winter months so make sure to plan your trip depending on what you’re hoping to see.

Dalhalla is an extraordinary open-air amphitheater and music arena situated in a former limestone quarry in Rattvik. The venue boasts incredible acoustics, making it a popular spot for summer concerts featuring rock bands and operas. Surrounded by forest, animals, and a lake where the stage is set up, the setting provides a unique experience for concert-goers.
The most amazing venue I’ve even been to. I saw Avenged Sevenfold and everything was perfect: the sound, the stage and the atmosphere. Fun staff with the best attitude! The food in the food stands was not the best, but it was easy and fast to get and eat. The venue was AMAZING - ain’t nothing like anything I’ve ever seen before. Parking was cheap and very effective with clear instructions! - I would wish that the staff would be more clear with eg. exactly what time they will let people down to the pit/the seating area. However - this is nothing that takes away stars from the review.

Fabulous place, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that stays with you. For an outdoor concert location, you are unlikely to do better, at least in Sweden. The acoustics are unique but I imagine the mixer still had the job cut out for him. Chess in Concert was great but somewhat shrill in places.
Ari N — Google review
A lifetime experience. Surely the most spectacular venue I've ever been to. The forest all around worth a walk as well, especially if you're here in August and you like blueberries and mushrooms ☺️.
Bertrand K — Google review
What an awesome place! It's in the middle of nowhere but the buses work wonderfully well, everything was super well organised and clear even for us, not speaking any of the language. I definitely recommend it, it's beautiful and the sound is incredible. Contrary to what they say on the website, you can bring a small bag. I saw most ladies with a small crossbody bag and I wish I had taken one too!

An exciting concert 'hall' in an old quarry. Adequate food stalls, drink bars and other facilities. The area was clean. The concert was excellent: acoustics and atmosphere in their own class.
Helinä P — Google review
Really nice venue in an old limestone quarry. Picturesque, but also well staffed and good infrastructure. There are never enough places to sit at venues, but there was a good bit of seating. Restrooms were nice, and there is a whole food court with lots of options. Great staff, and plenty of them. I recommend bug spray and a jacket - even in Summer. I also recommend the concert buses, well worth the price.
Laura L — Google review
Incredible beautiful concert location in Dalarna's län. An old quarry turned into a concert location, with space for as much as 6000 people. The acoustics are awesome, where ever you are, you hear the music clear as can be. The only (big) minus are the food and drink prices, which are scandalously high (around 20€ for a burger, 10€ for a half litre can of beer)... Maybe it was just with this concert (I saw Heilung perform their last ceremony there), but as you can't bring any food or drink, you will have to bring plenty of money (card only). And in a place as big as this there should be some spot for people who smoke, especially with concerts (the whole location is smoke free).

Very nice amusement park for a day trip. There are no roller coasters but it's fun and relaxing with a great view of the lake as well.
Amit A — Google review
At 4 years old, many attractions are still too advanced or height-restricted for children, and we felt that the value for the ticket price (approx. 1500 kr total for our family) did not match what a young child is realistically able to use and enjoy.

One of the best place for family in summers. It took 4 hours to drive from Stockholm. You find activities for all ages including water slides etc and it takes at least 2 days to cover the park but 3 days would be even better.
Muhammad F — Google review
Fun park for our 4 year old daughter, we focus on the normal atractions as the water activities were for older kids. But the food was really bad, we were there 2 days and ate taco buffet first day (horrible queue to get food) and hamburger second day (super bad quality of the meat). We booked the newest cabins, newly built from last year. And the cabin was good and clean, we enjoyed it. But the food in the camping was again super bad quality. The pizza or meat buffet was quite bad. The mini disco a bit chaos in that tent
Monica S — Google review
Leksand Sommarland has gotten worse and worse every year. They keep decreasing the area, removing fun things to do. The only thing they keep adding are places to get food and snacks. In 2025 they spent several millions on refurbing the water park and somehow made it WORSE! They removed several fun small water slides for kids. Next year we will not get a season pass, it's not worth it anymore. Especially since it is too crowded on warm summer days due to the decreased space and that people concentrate on the few fun attractions they have left.

Jamtli is a captivating museum that offers a journey through local culture, spanning from the Viking era to native crafts and historic ways of life. Located just 1km north of the center, it comprises two parts: an open-air museum with meticulously reconstructed wooden buildings and enthusiastic guides in 19th-century period costumes, and an indoor museum housing the oldest European Overhogdal Tapestries and Christian Viking relics from AD 1100.

Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

For kids who speak Swedish a fun museum I imagine. The downstairs area is interesting but completely in Swedish, an app they have available has translations but only partly. Not all features available in Swedish are available in English or German. The national museum partly has English information alongside Swedish. Orsa Grönklitt Björnpark is Europe's largest predator park located 16km north of Orsa, housing a variety of animals including polar bears, Kodiak bears, leopards, Amur tigers, lynx, wolves, red foxes and wolverines. The star attraction at the park are the fat-bottomed roly-poly bear cubs.
Very beautifully situated park with wild animals The park includes many large enclosures where the animals can feel at home. Nevertheless, you can experience boars, bears and others up close. The staff is friendly and we were able to learn interesting facts about the animals and their behaviour through their feedings. It was also noticeable that the animal keepers care deeply about their work with their animals. Highly recommended and very unique.

A rather unique park that focuses on Sweden's predators. Because of Corona the feeding moments were cancelled. A lot of information isn't translated in English, so as a tourist you loose a lot of information.

It was great experience to spend Christmas Day visiting this zoo,not so many crowds, but the animals are really active. Staff literally send gift boxes to the polar bear family,we saw the bears open their gift boxes and enjoy the snacks inside, full of joy. Tigers making love in snow😅,leopards doing patrol, wolves having family meeting… very wild, very fun!We almost view everyone except lynx, they are too shy.

Really great and wonderful park. Very well suited for families. The animals are quite easy to see. The surroundings and views are magnificent. There is a nice small exhibition in the entrance and playground places all around. No doubt 5/5.

Wonderful wild animals park! Great feeling seeing these amazing animals so close to you :) There are many activities with animals e.g. we saw how they were feeding wolves. We also had lunch in the restaurant on top of a mountain with great view over the valley and Orsa lake. We spent the whole day in the park and want to come back again!
Julia Z — Google review
Fantastic wildlife park. We were here on the 31th of August (19 degrees) and it was not crowded at all, and all the animals were active and playing, either with food or playfighting with each other. We saw every animal species and even though the park is only 2 km of walking (hilly) we were there from 10.30-15.00h and were absolutely not bored at all (open from 10-15h). During feeding time, the zookeepers would answer all our questions and give very nice explanations about all the animals (very friendly people with a heart for animals). Yes the animal residences are very large so it might take you a while to find them, but think about the animals and be happy for them that they have enough space while you can still observe them from very beautiful viewing points. In conclusion: amazing park, beautiful animals held in good conditions, and a very nice way to spend your day.

If you're not into Zoo don't go. If you are, this would be one of the better zoo's you'll ever visit. Feeding moments were cancelled due to Corona, but we the animals have to be fed regardless and we were lucky enough to be there for one of those moments.

A great experience! There is a schedule with different story lines to catch, and stages built around the compound. We walked through the compound, consisting of lush forest and nature, to watch theatre performances in unique stage platforms. Extra special with the characters and performers interacting with kids throughout the day. Note: performances in Swedish:)
Kien P — Google review
Very interesting place, not quite what I was expecting. The main attractions were non-stop theatrical performances of a fairytale variety. There was not much else to do, like playgrounds or rides. The park is a bit hard to navigate if you have not been there previously. The tickets were pricey for what was on offer. The staff was very nice and interacted great with kids. However, the day we were there, hundreds of tiny frogs were hoping in a highly trafficked area, on their way somewhere. The park did nothing to alert visitors to their presence or divert traffic. I watched multiple park employees drive golf carts over the frogs. It was very heartbreaking to see. The park also has very limited shopping. Everything sold is mass-produced cheap imports, which have been marked up. There was nothing special from the park or local area. I would have actually spent money in the gift shop if there had been anything worth buying, like a t-shirt or a nice Christmas ornament. The dressup items for kids were very cute, though.

Nice themepark for small kids. Very good actors and singers. The shows are very nice even if they are in Swedish. The park is not that big though and there are no activities like rollercoasters or other. If you have smaller children, they will love it.

Very nice to be with children. Performances in the middle of the forest with fairy tales that are connected despite different sketches. This place is open all year. Just remember to dress yourself after the Swedish winter climate if you come that time of the year!!
Andreas F — Google review
Nice landscape, good actors, amazing singers and committed stuff, but just as boring as it could be for the parents who don't have children under 10 years old. Expensive coffee. To complete full series if all events you'll need two days.
Blesser — Google review
A "must" place if your kids are 3 - 10 years old and you are on the way to the Swedish mountains or just sightseeing Dalarna. Park is divided into few thematical parts, where both boys and girls should find something interesting. I look forward to coming there during the winter time. I've been to Kolmården, Astrid Lindgrens Värld and High Chaparral as well. Tomtelandet is smaller than each of them but definitely worth reserving one day during your vacation. I recommend.
Bartłomiej C — Google review
Overall Great place for kids to view some shows and interact with the actors before and after the shows. Shows Pretty short, approx 15 minute. You have to know Swedish to understand the story. Sometimes a bit repetitive when all of them contain some reference to the "Tomte kraft". The acting and singing is good, and the kids found the story intriguing. If your kids are easily scared some of the plays are a bit too much. In a few theaters there are now benches. Often it is possible for the kids to talk and interact with the actors after the play. Food Brought food since I've read that it was expensive. Took a photo of the fika menu and uploaded it here. Environment Everything is placed in the forest with is left as untouched as they possibly could while still building a theme park. Parking There is a big parking lot close to the entrance. Shouldn't be a problem to find a spot and it's free. Other For us one day was enough to see most of the park

A good week with limited amount of guests so fast queuing in the lifts. Some technical problems on the West but sunshine compensates. Supersmooth automation of ski passes and very good admin if queues.

Vemdalskalet – Great skiing in beautiful nature, but the architecture… Vemdalskalet offers a fantastic ski area with well-maintained slopes and stunning natural surroundings. The skiing experience is top-notch, and it’s easy to enjoy your time out on the mountain. However, the architecture in the area is surprisingly poor. Many of the buildings seem oddly designed, with questionable material choices, poorly painted facades, and uninviting entrances. It often feels like a case of “good intentions, bad execution.” The overall impression is unfortunately dragged down by what might be some of the most mismatched and aesthetically challenged buildings in Sweden — a real contrast to the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Great place for beginners and intermediate skier's. 4 stars is based on Swedish ski resorts. If based on world wide it gets 2 stars.

Värmlands Moose Park is a unique destination that offers an unforgettable opportunity to get up close and personal with majestic moose. Visitors rave about the knowledgeable guides, like Per, who share fascinating insights about these gentle giants while creating an engaging atmosphere. The park also features a charming husky farm and the Värmlands Vikingacenter, where you can immerse yourself in Nordic history through live reenactments.
I went with family very recently and had an incredible experience that I will always be grateful for. Thank you to the owners for creating an amazing opportunity to be so close to such majestic animals. The experience allows you to gain interesting information about the Moose as well as feed and pet them. It was incredible. I will definitely come again and recommend it to everyone. Thank you 🫎

Wonderful experience! The 2-hour tour was informative and fun – we even got to feed and pet the moose. This family-run park is a must-visit. Great value for money!

We really enjoyed this experience! A unique chance to get up close with moose and feed and pat them. James shared so much knowledge about the beautiful animals with us and was a very engaging presenter. Would really reccommend if you are interested in learning about the species

Great experiences here! Got a lot of information about moose. Visitors can feed moose, they come to the fence and you can pet them. Owner James is very kind and enthusiastic.

This is an azum experience, for 200 kr per person you get to feed and pat the mooses. The guide gives great information and presentation about the animals. Kid friendly, my friend had his 2 month in a stroller. We booked on the website for 10 persons, you pay when you get there. I recommend!

We are pretty excited about this place! We have learned a lot about Moose and their preferred habits. The guide is well experienced with Moose and and knows his beloved friends in every single situation. We were able to feed the Moose and give them hugs too. The kids were so happy cause the Moose were so kind to them. Thank you very much for the opportunity. Kind regards!

Idrefjäll is a popular mountain resort in Sweden that offers a variety of activities throughout the year. In winter, it's known for skiing and snowboarding, while summer brings opportunities for golfing, walking, and cycling. The resort is praised for its family-friendly atmosphere and diverse slopes catering to different skill levels. Visitors appreciate the breathtaking views from the mountaintop and the abundance of activities available, including options for shopping and dining.
Less commercial, good skiing and no long lift lines. Nice layout of entire resort with many smaller parking areas rather than few huge. Easy access to slopes and overall a very nice place.

Very beautiful area, lots to do. A lot of construction going on om the site. They should spend some time updating the cabins. They were really outdated and falling apart. This is really not acceptable. Because of the location still 3 stars. Paying €8 per day to access the swimming pool is also a real no no.
Jeroen T — Google review
Rafting: Although the staff were delightful and well prepared, the experience was rather disappointing. We weren't warned that we would have to drive for an hour to get to the spot when we booked. We had chosen the medium difficulty route, which turned out to be for beginners. On the whole route, there were maybe four/five very short sections with rapids, the rest was just paddling. Finally, the duration, intensity and length of the route were not worth the hour's drive mentioned above or the price charged. Not recommended.

Great ski resort for kids, has become more dirty since previous years, garbage laying around etc

A very family friendly ski resort. There are a good versions in slopes, from almost flat to support steep. It's big enough to accommodate for lots of guests. The downside are the quite old cabins, the restaurants are expensive, the food in the restaurants are not very fresh.

Good place for skiing with long slopes. Downside is that it was quite windy and snowing and chair lifts dont have cover so it was quite cold when reaching the top.

Parks
Fulufjället National Park, located in the northwest of Dalarna county, is a newly designated park known for its vast lichen-covered landscapes and as the home of Old Tjikko, one of the world's oldest trees. The park features a stunning waterfall as its main attraction and offers well-maintained hiking trails with various color-coded paths to explore.
One of the best places I visited in my first Swedish summer of 2021. This is a great national park for a hike, walk or camping. Plan well and you'll have an amazing time.
Chirag S — Google review
Big, beautiful nature reserve — totally worth the 2.5-hour drive. This was our third time here, and it’s always fun to see the waterfall in different seasons.
DAK — Google review
Fulufjället National Park is one of the most peaceful and unspoiled natural areas I’ve ever visited. The landscape is striking — from dense, ancient spruce forests to the flat, wind-swept plateau that stretches for miles. It feels like stepping into a different time. The highlight for many is the hike to Njupeskär waterfall, the tallest in Sweden at 93 meters. The trail is very accessible, with wooden boardwalks and gentle terrain, making it great for both families and casual hikers. As you approach the falls, the roaring sound and rising mist through the cliffs are absolutely breathtaking. If you have more time and stamina, hiking beyond the waterfall up onto the Fulufjället plateau is a must. The terrain becomes more rugged and wild, with sweeping views and a unique alpine tundra environment. Up there, it’s incredibly quiet — you might walk for hours without seeing another person. It really gives you a feeling of solitude and freedom. The park is also home to Old Tjikko, a clonal spruce over 9,500 years old — believed to be the oldest living tree in the world. It’s a humbling reminder of how ancient this place truly is. Trails are well marked, and there are plenty of signs and resting areas. I’d also recommend stopping by Naturum Fulufjället, the visitor center, for maps, information, and a deeper understanding of the park’s geology and wildlife. If you’re looking for dramatic scenery, fresh air, and a genuine connection with nature — Fulufjället is perfect. Bring layers, good boots, and your sense of wonder
Subhadeep B — Google review
A beautiful natural environment. Very easily accessible with wooden routes. Climbing the mountain needs good shoes and stamina though. The waterfall is spectacular!
R S — Google review
Beautifully maintained national park. Quite busy at the start towards the waterfall. If you hike the big loop up to the waterfall, you have great challenging routes with exits over rocks.
Vanessa S — Google review
10-12 minutes walk and you reach there… I went as close as 5 meters far from the waterfall. Best thing is either way you will get a round trip.
Salim — Google review
It is a wonderful place to bring someone you wish to enjoy a splendid scenery and wild bature with. The only thing that i feel saddens my heart is that as more people find their way here, the more crowded and littered with garbage it becomes. Foreign and sometimes domestic wanderers that do their needs to close or even on trails is just bad. I think that when natures treasures like this park becomes to accessable then it attracts more human presence than what is manageable. Cheers!
Dan L — Google review
We visited in the month of August. The temperature is ideal for a hike. It’s an easy & peaceful hike for around 2:30hrs to & fro. You can park your car free of charge. There is a restroom at the entrance of the national park. To reach Njupeskär Waterfall follow the orange path. It’s best to visit during summer as the hiking trail is dry and you get to witness the nature at it’s best.

SkiStar, Norge

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
SkiStar in Norge offers a range of services including ski lessons, tours, equipment rentals, and lodging options in a picturesque mountain area. The resort features the beloved snowman Valle as the main character in its children's concept, providing various fun activities for kids throughout the winter. While it may be smaller compared to other European resorts, SkiStar has its own unique charm and merits.
This was a great place for beginners. We had never skied before but thankfully there was lots of advice on hand and we could rent skis too. Sadly there were no places left for the ski school (book in advance if you can!) but our teens turned out to be naturals and had a blast on their own in the family area. The ski passes were very expensive since it was the start of the season and only two areas were open and we were given poor advice to start with. They have a centre which offers ‘tourist information’ and ‘guide’ services and as we had never skied before we were dependent on that advice. The guide knew we had never skied before but told us we would be fine on all the slopes that were open. At a cost of €350 who followed his advice. This was quite dangerous advice and thankfully they had a ski patrol who could rescue our stranded teens from the slope that wasn’t suitable for them at all🤦🏼‍♂️ Customer services were quite dismissive at first saying it was our choice but in the end did refund us some of the money recognising that for people who had never skied before only one area was really suitable and only a pass for that area was needed. So we give them credit for this and the excellent way they do maintain the area and offer support.

We’ve had positive experiences with SkiStar Trysil. I hadn’t skied in over 12 years after tearing my ACL and meniscus, and the fear had stayed with me ever since. Booking a ski instructor was the best decision I could have made. The instructors were incredibly kind, patient, and highly skilled, making me feel safe and confident on the slopes again. My niece and nephew attended ski school, which turned skiing into a great experience for them as well – something we’re truly grateful for.

All your vacation activities whether summer or winter or fall or spring are just conveniently at your reach. This is a must visit place when in the Skandinavia. Good proximity as people just drive from across Europe especially Sweden, Danmark etc for holiday camping. Remember to buy your day pass tickets online to get it cheaper. There are good accommodation options from camping homes to first class resorts. Shopping centre is available right at the place in addition regular glossary shops like Rema 100, Kiwi are just 1.4km away in Trysil downtown or city center. One suggestion is to compliment the facilities with more modern ones with good finish even if it is to blend into and protect the natural environment.
ExinMEDIA B — Google review
Its only entrance and parking place if you dont live in Skistar village. Parking was always full. Lifts are too crowded. There is some bars and 2 ski shops.

Great ski resort with reasonably large amount of lifts and slopes. One of the largest in Norway. Good kid friendly /lifts/slopes at the bottom. Additionally some nice cafeterias to have lunch in between runs. Also located at a place where there's usually good snow conditions.

Absolutely amazing. High mountains, great slopes. And we had absolutely stunning sun. Almost no people around due to Covid. No problem to keep you distance. Felt totally safe

Skistar lodge offered comfort at all levels, beautifully presented, wonderful food and a fabulous outlook. A short scenic ride from the Scandinavian Mountains Airport allowed us to relax from touch down to the first lift. Excellent ski in ski out locker room facilities, wonderfully stocked ski hire shop with helpful staff. Although an uplift charge, the spa offered the perfect post piste relaxation station. The hotel staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. 10/10, we will be back.

A very nice museum covering the different aspects of forestry including hunting, fishing, etc. and the development / evolution in this sector over the years. The museum is ideally located next the river Glomma and beautiful surrounding. Worth the visit if you are around.

The collection of stuffed animals is impressive. The museum gives a huge amount of knowledge about everything that connects to forest: from nature to culture. Definitely a must see when you are around. I'd say 3 hours sightseeing should be enough. If there only were some nice souvenirs in the museum shop: I couldnt find anything special for gifts :/

Nestled in the heart of Røros, the Rørosmuseet Smelthytta stands as a testament to the town's rich mining history. This captivating museum is situated on the grounds of a former copper-smelting facility that tragically burned down in 1975. Visitors can immerse themselves in interactive exhibits featuring intricate models that showcase traditional water- and horse-powered smelting techniques.
Did a guided tour around the town which was arranged by the museum. Absolutely recommend it to everyone visiting Røros! It was very interesting to learn more about the history, and our tour guide, Oliver, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging! To top it all off, the tour ended with a visit inside the church, which is one of the more unique churches I have seen!

A magnificent museum devoted to the exploration of copper in the Røros region starting in the 16 hundreds and going on till the late 1970's. The life of the workers in the harsh climate becomes evident, in particular since we visited a summer Saturday of July 2025 with 30 degrees in the shade. People from Røros flocked to the dam upstreams from the museum to swim. After having left the museum closing at 5 pm we noticed we had left the turner of grandma, 98, inside the closed museum. I managed to find one of the technicians, Åge Sandnes, who came back on his motor bike to save our day. Many thanks!!

If you like history. If you want to understand some of the underlying lines in old Norwegian sosial struktures. Understanding how much work that had to be done to manage to mine just one kilograme of Copper. And how many tons of wood that had to be cut....How many hours of laybour from humans and horses. Then this is a place to spend some hours in Røros. Nice guided tour can be bought.😃

Great museum Suggest to first go to the olive mine and then visit the museum (follow the flow of the ore) The museum is situated in the former copper melter factory Gives good insight in the process, the history, the society and working conditions Especially the scale models are worth a visit on its own We watched the Norwegian version of the film, later we figured out that there is also an English version (displayed alternating) Recommended a visit Have fun

Røros Church, also known as Roros kirke in Norwegian, is a significant landmark in the town of Røros, Norway. It replaced an older church and is made of stone, a rarity for its time. With seating for 1,600 people, it's one of Norway's largest churches and holds historical importance as one of the country's top ten churches. The church overlooks the town and bears the inscription "To God's Glory and the Mining Town's beauty.
Beautiful in the Snow I only got to see Røros Kirke from the car, but even from a distance, it was stunning. Surrounded by snow, the church stood out with its charm, looking both grand and peaceful at the same time. The white landscape made it feel even more magical, like something out of a winter postcard. Even without going inside, just seeing it in that setting was a great experience. Definitely a place worth visiting, especially in the snow!

Give this church a miss. The entry fee 60NOK and opens at 11 am. The outer facade is pleasant enough. I love visiting old churches so went in with high hopes. Was very disappointed with the interior. It was very plain and nothing unique or notable.

60 kr nok for entry per adult. Children free. The church has three floors and is well maintained. Nothing spectacular but worth a visit to support the maintenance and see a bit of the cultural heritage of Røros. There is no line here. Try to figure out if there is a concert here. The sound is good here.

The recently renovated church is a gem, and the local guide was very knowledgeable. It is even possible to go upstairs and admire the beautiful interior from above. I also did not know that the church was used in the first general election in 1814. Lots to learn and admire here.

Overlooking the town stands Røros church, which replaced an older, smaller church in 1780, is built in stone, not a matter or course at that time in Norway and can seat 1,600 people which makes it one of the largest churches in Norway. Bergstadens Ziir" which literally means "the mining to Over the entrance to the church a sign says "Til Guds Ære og Bergstadens Ziir" which means "to God's Glory and the Mining Town’s beauty”. Bergstaden Røros had become wealthy and grown considerably, and there was no lack of self-esteem. Visit the church and visit one of two of the mines around town! Of course I was pleased to see that the modern (protestant) Church of Norway and its priests have no problem with gay weddings. Good on you!

The slides and pools were great and fun for kids, but we felt the spa options were quite limited—especially for toddlers. Hairdryers were weak, so it's a good idea to bring your own. Sauna choices were fewer than expected, and the showers felt a bit awkward. Since we visited during the holidays, it was very crowded, and the changing rooms were often messy—understandably, as not everyone cleaned up after themselves.
Kristina P — Google review
Always nice place for a bath. The options in pools is great and should have something for everyone :) Food is also good.

Great place to spend time with family and friends. Clean water, tidy place and neat everywhere. More than 5 separate pools for different ages and activities. Jacuzzi and sauna also present. With Bigger slides for adults and smaller slides for kids. Parking, Cafeteria, advanced locker and shower area, they do sell swim suit, cap, Goggles and flipflops. But less staffs and unable to contact them at ease. Overall excellent place.

Great place to visit with families, swing, eat, relax, spa. Much fun for the kids. Nice service. Like the new lock system. No need to bring own lock. You might have problems if you forgot something and need to exit building due to the new lock. But not a problem. The price is a bit high for a family to visit, unfortunately. Go a bit later to avoid crowded guests. Will be back☺ hope they will set the price lower for families.
Nhan A — Google review
I was disappointed to visit this swimming pool. The whole complex looks rather old, not modern at all, starting with lockers and showers, to the three tube-slides and the pool itself, with not very clean and clear water, no tiles on the walls or bottom of the pool. Lots of children visiting the pool (main one, unfortunately) and jumping into it from the springboards and the diving tower, making a lot of noise and blocking all lanes but ONE for those who want to swim. After kids are gone, still only two lanes are available for swimming. The two saunas (one dry and one damp) do work, but again, are old-fashioned and not really pleasant to visit. There is a nice warm-water small pool and a Jacuzzi outdoors, worth recommending, though.

I thought Flytoget was the perfect way to travel from Olso Airport and in to the centre. Simple, quick and into Oslo central in under 20 minutes. Hassle free travel every 10 minutes. Clean carriages and plenty of seats. Booked online, it was so easy. I paid 960NOK at the time of my booking (2no Adults return = 70GBP). Just checked its now 1008NOK (just a slight increase). It's well worth a look if you don't want to drive / UBER etc. I'll travel this way again if I return, no brainer. PCB 👌🏻

I was issued a fine of 1200 NOK even though I did everything according to their instructions, but their system was lagging to charge my card. Scanned my card at the entry, tried to scan it at the exit, didn't work, got issued a fine for supposedly not having a ticket, the inspector didn't want to look or listen that my card was reserved but not charged yet, even when there were witnesses that confirmed everything, he just issued a fine. Very pleasant experience.

This was amazing travel from Oslo Airport to Oslo Central Station - I am railway enthusiast from Poland and found this travel emotional and extremely interesting, especially because of high speed - 210 km per hour. Journey to Oslo Central Station lasts exactly 22 minutes! I am also very grateful for the highest quality of services of train crew, so as supporting staff of Flytoget at both stations. They are ready to answer all questions, also from railway enthusiasts:), like me. Flytoget high speed trains go every 10 minutes, and it makes this way of travelling not only the most time-saving, but extremely interesting. I am very sensitive on safety procedures, and I found these applied at Flytojet as the most restrictive, which makes passengers' journey safe, quiet and comfortable. At each pair of seats in the train everybody could read safety instructions, written both in Norwegian and English, in very simple way (with drawing of train scheme). It is only one sheet of thick paper, but information are written on both pages, in very quick way. Electric sockets are double in every two seats, so there is no issue to use it for our electrical appliances. It was great pleasure to use Flytoget high speed trains during my visit to Oslo. I recommend this highest quality services not only to travel enthusiasts, but all passengers who are interested in the best and time-saving way of travelling. Thank you Flytoget team for your excellent job! See you next time!

There was no warning at the kiosk when I bought my TRAIN ticket that the trains weren't running. Instead, they shuffled us into an overcrowded bus that took forever to load and slowly made its way downtown. For this clearly substandard service they reduced the price by nothing. Next time, I'll find a better way to town. This was pathetic.
Mark B — Google review
Very comfortable, and very easy access to make your way from Oslo's international airport to Oslo's center. Ticket's cost around 240 NOK

HORRIBLE!!! I bought the tickets to go and come. On my way back, they simply canceled the trains, there was nothing written in the station. I had to get a cab otherwise I would miss my flight. Now they blame me because there was a buss going from another station (not the one I was departing from and had the tickets already), and I did not get it! Avoid it if you can! :(
Ellen K — Google review
As others reported, it happened to me that the trip that was supposed to be made by train was performed by bus, considerable slower and less comfortable. Although the bus was nice and perfectly suitable, there was no previous warning or discount. Other bus services offer the same for smaller price. I was going to rate Flytoget as a 3 stars but after reading that what happened to me it's common, I can only rate it as a 2 stars.

Domkirkeodden is a captivating destination that beautifully intertwines medieval history with modern experiences. This outdoor museum showcases an impressive collection of historical buildings from Hedmark villages, alongside the stunning ruins of an ancient cathedral and bishop's castle, all sheltered under a striking glass structure. The atmosphere here is truly enchanting; I had the pleasure of attending a midnight concert that felt almost magical amidst the historic backdrop. Visitors can explore these remarkable ruins while enjoying various family-friendly activities in the surrounding park-like setting.
Today my father and I visited the Domkirkeodden. What a sight to see! To enter you have to buy a ticket for about 140 NOK. (€11,70) They have a great staff and you can see some of them walking in historical clothing which gives a nice touch in my opinion! Everything is behind glass for better preservation. Some items are even monitored with temperature and humidity meters. Also, they have information flyers in multiple languages. They have Norwegian, English, German and even Dutch which was perfect for my father. (We are from the Netherlands) I feel honored to have walked through the ruins of what was once a beautiful church! Thank you, people and staff for preserving and showing this amazing piece of history!

Although Domkirkeodden was closed for renovation during my visit, I still enjoyed experiencing it from the outside. The ruins, set against the serene landscape, carry a deep historical weight. I was particularly moved by their connection to the Reformation—this place serves as a powerful reminder of the cost of change and the sacrifices made for the values we cherish today. The way the ruins are protected with structured glass is especially symbolic—it shows a commitment to preserving history, ensuring that we do not forget the past. A meaningful site that invites reflection. Hope to visit again when it reopens!

It was an interesting place and our guide did an excellent job explaining the history on the site to us. The glass enclosure was a very resourceful idea and the acoustics inside were perfect.

Was nice, we could see the historic walls of the fort. Previously you were supposed to be able to go in the protective enclosure of the cathedral but birds broke the glass so we couldn't. You could still view it from the outside. There also is a small historic artifact museum in the museum. The area is a medieval fort and market that was blown up by the Swedes. (Darn YOU SWEDEN!) Definitely worth seeing and I hope they continue to improve the site as part of it is currently under construction. This was my 10 year old son's favorite site in Norway.

Its all very interesting but i dont like that you have to pay to get inside to see it (so we didn't). But it also looks quite cool from the outside. Theres also alot of field, old houses and a mini 'beach' around it. Lovely views. Theres parking outside where you normally have to pay but it wasnt working when we went. There was also a mini truck with ice cream and waffles. I didnt see any toilets.

Really cool and interesting place! Seeing the old ruins and connecting the history of the place is fascinating. The modern additions to the building bridge the modern with the ancient in a way that even though you know it's modern it doesn't detract from the history. My family very much enjoyed our visit here, and the walk to the railroad museum.

Over renovation, we couldn’t go inside the pyramid.
