Lakeside villa designed in 1903 by a trio of renowned Finnish architects, with guided tours.
Fantastic weather to sit down and relax with a nice hot cup of coffee and pastry and enjoy the sun and peace at the cafeteria terrace followed by a visit to the museum and a pleasant walk around the gardens and then through the countryside down to the beach, the whole experience was truly amazing.

Visited the manore together with a Ukrainian guide who gave us a nice excursion into the life and world of three renowned architects and their families who lived there. Now the museum is open only in the part of Saarinen premises. The entrance fee into the museum is 10-15 euros. The territory around is wonderful. There is a open air cafe open from June there. Definitely worth visiting.

Great place to visit in the summer! Interesting unique interior, nice surroundings- garden and a small beach down the hill, interesting history of the place. Definitely worth coming here at least once! Free entrance with the museum card. Better come by bike because the car parking is usually full

Very nice mansion complex and museum for a day tour near Helsinki. Though I do not have much knowledge of architecture, I still managed to enjoy the well-designed studio home and the amazing view. ”Work is the key to creative growth of the mind.” Btw, it is covered by the Museum Card.

A marvelous place that brings visitors serenity. We strolled through the forest and alongside the lake whole afternoon, enjoying summer sunshine to the fullest. - The museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday during summertime.

In a city full of neoclassic, minimalistic and functional design, this building still stands out as one of the best examples of Finnish architecture. The view over the lake is glorious at almost any time of the year. It is well maintained and organized.

Keila-Joa castle Schloss Fall

Mentioned on
1 list
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Keila-Joa castle Schloss Fall is a must-visit manor in Estonia, located near Tallinn and known for its beautifully restored castle and the scenic Keila Waterfall. The castle boasts a unique history and features a temporary exhibition of Dior clothes from the 1950s and 1960s. Visitors can admire the superb restoration of the castle, including exquisite furniture such as mirrors, chairs, tables, and chandeliers.
It's a quite interesting place with a truly unique history. Additionally, it's great to be here on Estonian Independence Day. During our visit, there was a quite large selection of Dior clothes from the 1950s and 1960s temporarily exhibited here. The castle is superbly restored with beautiful pieces of furniture such as mirrors, chairs, tables, and chandeliers, although most of the old paintings are copies. The administrator was very polite and helpful. Anyway, the unique building is worth the ticket price; admission costs 15 euros for adults.
Ivan K — Google review
It is a truly beautiful spot that feels like a peaceful escape into nature. The walking paths around the area take you through a lush forest, making it perfect for a relaxing stroll. Everything is well maintained, clean, and feels cared for. The views, especially near the waterfall, are stunning and ideal for taking amazing pictures. Highly recommended if you enjoy nature, photography, or just want a quiet, scenic place to unwind.
Gonzalo Y — Google review
This is a classic example of style over substance. 95% of its value lies outside, in the public park and waterfall area, which are free and beautiful. That’s where the visit should end. Unfortunately, if you’re tempted to step inside — prepare to be disappointed and overcharged. A €15 fee is required just to enter, including access to the restaurant, which is outrageous. The so-called "museum" consists of a few rooms with clothing displays, no descriptions to most, and zero context unless you're willing to pay extra for a guide. For a private museum, it’s embarrassingly amateur — especially when compared to places like Victoria Karelias Museum in Kalamata, which offers a far more professional and curated experience at a fraction of the price. Frankly, the museum feels like a borderline scam. Then there’s the restaurant, which manages to sink even lower. The service is shockingly poor — staff don’t care how many menus your table gets, cutlery is missing, and basic items like sugar aren’t provided unless requested multiple times. Even worse, they couldn’t prepare an Americano, despite it being listed on their short, basic menu. Staff clearly don’t know their own offerinh and overall, you feel like a burden, not a guest. Although creme brule was tasty. There are 43 Michelin guide recommend restaurants in Estonia for much more competitive price, no wonder why. Bottom line: Take some lovely pictures outside, enjoy the nature — but do yourself a favor and don’t spend a eurocent inside. It’s a rip-off wrapped in pretty packaging.
Kamil K — Google review
Very quaint Manor restored to it's former glory. Aside from the building the main attraction is the picturesque waterfall and wheel house. There are many period dresses and clothing on display from the era the manor was active. The top floor is a boutique hotel and there is restaurant in the dining hall.
Michael B — Google review
Visited fashion exhibition inside. Place is beautiful, nicely renovated. Staff very friendly. Restoran inside had an interesting menu, but did not have the chance to taste.
Jelena T — Google review
Must visit manor in Estonia, near Tallinn with beautiful waterfall next to it. It is so neatly restored that it is actually a masterpiece. Dinner set was delicious and Sunday tea and piano concert perfect. Do take time to enjoy it and take lots of pictures! The owner has done an amazing work and contributed highly to the local area and whole Estonia with restoring this place. Do visit!

Keila waterfall

Mentioned on

Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Keila Waterfall is a unique and picturesque destination near two suspension bridges, featuring a neo-Gothic mansion and hiking trails. Located in the historic town of Keila, it is part of Harju County, which also offers attractions such as the Keila-Joa Manor and the Estonian Open Air Museum. Despite its modest height of about 6 meters, visitors are captivated by the tranquil and relaxing atmosphere at the waterfall.
Planned on visiting the Keila-Joa waterfall since the start of planning this trip. The waterfall itself was big, wide, tall and beautiful while it sounded wonderful. There is also a hydroelectric powerplant nearby, so I guess it brings money to upkeep the waterfall and I just think that is so important. There is also a small park nearby, where you can barely see the waterfall, but it is still beautiful.
Tomas P — Google review
Simply beautiful, nature, water, noise of the waterfalls. Of course you need to be aware that height and size of it is limited due to natural environment of Estonia, so don't compare it with Alpes or even Balkan region. Enjoy this picturesque place for free when passing by.
Kamil K — Google review
Beautiful scenery. The park is like from a fairytale. The waterfall, river and old oaks are so calming. Take your time when going there, because there’s lots to enjoy.

Keila Waterfall is a must-see near Tallinn. Waterfall is a stunning spot just 30 km from Tallinn. The waterfall itself is impressive, and the surrounding trails, bridges, viewpoints, rose garden, and playground make it perfect for a relaxing stroll or a fun day out with family and friends

Formal hotel offering elegant rooms in a storied castle, plus a restaurant & landscaped gardens.
An unexpected (to us) gem that we found driving around the Estonian countryside. What a treat to enjoy a meal in a rejuvenated castle. Well prepared limited menu. On the night we stopped by, we happened to be the only patrons, but it was clear that they are very busy at other times. Friendly and professional service.

If you are looking for a unique experiment of living in a castle, this is your chance. Every room is unique and provides is own scenario. The breakfast is nice, the dinner options are interesting. A small park and the labyrinth makes this place a nice destination for children, too
Alex N — Google review
Stayed in the tower suite for two nights, loved the ambiance of the room and the castle itself. Lots of cool things to see and explore on the castle grounds. Jan and Christina were especially hospitable, even firing up the sauna for me to use. Would love to stay here again, as my experience was truly unforgettable.
Kris T — Google review
We spent one night in fairytale. Excellent and exceptional experience. Thank you Owners for making it true. The book with your story and your intent to rebuild the castle is legendary. As well as the architectural “plans”. I could hardly sleep because of this exceptional travel experience. I was exploring the castle and it was such a pleasure to see the castle at day and night lights. How it’s changing. What kind of magic it brings. I reminded myself - don’t take it for granted. It’s THE ONE AND ONLY. Hopefully, photos and videos taken are inviting next guests to visit you. Breakfast was awesome. At 8 o’clock. There was a small birthday party and we were listen to a piano improvisation. High level 🎹 It was pretty hot in the room but we have found the solution from the room nearby. Hopefully, in our travel experience we are going to have more of such an amazing place to visit like the one you offer. We are striving to find an AUTHENTIC spirit and you HAVE IT! Our greatest love to you and our appreciation for the experience you have delivered. That’s nice to live and get to know that a place like yours exist on our Beautiful Planet. Regards from Finland 🇫🇮

Can't complement this place enough , in terms of style it is a one pff worth travelling to .Lots of different styles of room to choose from . Me and my friend arrived after a long cycle , the lady at reception was really helpful and made us feel welcome speaking perfect English . The food and cocktails were great there was even ballroom dancing . It is worth coming here just for the experience, they do weddings and other events to.

My friend asked me to write a review about the food at Laitse Loss, but I decided instead to explain to the people on google why I love like to love so much. Laitse-Loss refills my imagination. I have come and I have to fly my drone here. And I've enjoyed the comforts of the owner and the management. And this place. Is far more important than a place that will serve you good food. It is a place that will indulge anything your imagination could provide. It is just one phone call away and they will make it work and make it possible for you to enjoy. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are unique and different. And everything is different about this place than whatever you believe to be normal. And This is why this place is so valuable to me. I have filmed five-star chefs producing unforgettable experiences here. I have taken potential investors here they answered the important question “Why Estonia” perfectly every time. And they have been blown away by the quality, the price, the attention to detail. And I always take my high-net-worth investors here when I want them to invest in my business. I've flown my drone here. I've captured beautiful dancers and the sauna here has more stories and secrets and incredible out of this world. Experiences that I think it is worthy of the fins and every other high-end sauna here. I believe that you should come here for dinner /and come with ideas because the owner will accommodate your ideas and who knows magic might happen.........because every time I come, magic happens.
Luis C — Google review

Lennusadam

Maritime museum
Museums
Specialty Museums
Lennusadam, also known as the Seaplane Harbour Museum, is a maritime museum housed in a 16th-century tower and a remarkable hangar built under Peter the Great. It boasts a submarine and a sunken ship from the 1560s. The museum offers an immersive journey through maritime history with over 200 authentic items, interactive activities, simulators, and a big aquarium. It is considered one of Europe's biggest maritime museums and is popular among history enthusiasts.
One of the best museums I’ve ever visited! Definitely worth checking out, especially with kids. It’s full of informative and interactive exhibits related to maritime history. There’s a real submarine you can enter and explore in detail. You’ll also find various ships, sails, maps, cannons, and seaplanes. Two seaplanes let you sit inside and try a basic but fun flight simulation. There’s also a remote-control boat activity where you can steer small ships, and a computer game where you rescue someone at sea. A small submarine theater shows a lovely cartoon about the importance of sea life and keeping the Baltic Sea clean. Kids can try rope climbing up a mast (extra fee) and enjoy a small playground. There’s so much to see and do—highly recommended! 😄
Bakir Y — Google review
This is a fantastic museum, I only really wanted to go for the sake of going inside submarine. However, it turned out to be so much fun. It's very interactive, lots of exhibits for you to play around with. You can go in a flight simulator, drive toy boats, climb netting from a ship mast & much more. Out the back, there's also boats you can see/go on with your ticket. Be careful trying to climb inside the submarine though, it's not an easy feat 😂. This museum is included in the Tallin card which I highly recommend you buy.
Tyler L — Google review
Simply put one of the best museums I’ve been to. It’s like no expense was spared when building this place. They have a beautiful building which houses a huge submarine that you can fully explore. They have lots of interactive exhibits including a flight and boating simulators. And outside there were at least four boats or small ships you could go on. I would highly recommend vista if museum if in Tallinn.
Jay K — Google review
Wonderful naval museum! They have an original mine laying submarine from the 1930s as the centerpiece; also a very interesting section about the Estonian Navy; plus the remains of an medieval boat; plus a large section about sea mines; plus so much more. And they have lots and lots of activities for kids, like two bi-plane simulators, some boat simulations, a harborbwhere you can steer your own ship .., it is just a marvellous place if you are interested in maritime things. And there also is a very nice café on a terrace overlooking the museum. A clear highlight of any visit to Tallinn! There is ample parking space around the museum, but you have to pay with the Snabb-App, since the parking is managed by this company. And beware - they are diligently checking, if you have paid ...
Axel T — Google review
Superb museum. This is how items should be displayed in a 21st century museum. Fantastic lighting, interactive displays and interesting artifacts. No dusty cabinets here. Highly recommended and don't forget to go outside and go on the boats as well, they are included in the entrance fee but this wasn't made clear when we arrived 😁
Paul A — Google review
As a Londoner, I'm spoilt by having some of the biggest and best museums in the world. So, it's a compliment to this one when I say it's very good - thoughtful design and consideration for users, balancing the needs of kids and adults. The Estonian airforce and navy have always been small, so the breadth and depth is limited, but what there is, is well stated. However, I was perplexed that no date was given for their star archaeological exhibit (the skeleton of the wooden boat). Well worth 1-2 hours, especially as the surrounding area has great food and other interest.
K N — Google review
Lennusadam is one of the most impressive museums I’ve ever visited 🚢✨. Housed in a stunning seaplane hangar, it combines history, technology, and hands-on fun in the best way. Walking through a real submarine, seeing historic ships up close, and exploring interactive exhibits makes it an experience for all ages. The building itself is breathtaking, and the harbor views outside are just as beautiful. A perfect mix of learning and adventure—this isn’t just a museum, it’s a full journey into Estonia’s maritime past.
Arnab — Google review
Great mix of maritime vessels to see here, including the main attraction submarine which you can board. Some interactive displays/games too. Videos on the history of the site and building. We spent around 2 hours here but didn’t read every exhibit.

Sights & Landmarks
Toompea is a historic limestone hill in Tallinn's old town, featuring a castle, tower, and government buildings. The area includes the best viewing platform in Tallinn and the Danish King Garden with statues of faceless monks. One notable building is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a stunning Russian Orthodox church constructed during Estonia's time under the Russian Empire. Toompea Hill also hosts Toompea Castle, now used by the Estonian parliament.
The view from Toompea hill to the old town is very beautiful. I was lucky to see Northen lights from there.
Justina B — Google review
If you like the views, this is the place where you should go to in Tallinn. There are multiple platforms where you can see something form the city, and a lot of shaded places if you want to chill somewhere under the trees.
Jana K — Google review
The Toompea hill and Castle are located near the famous Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and it’s also 10 minutes walking distance from the Old town main square. We didn’t visit the building inside, and we saw there were English tours that you could book, but we won’t had enough time and we decided to walk around and check the beautiful views that this place has from Tallinn old town city and we think it’s a nice place to explore a little more if you have more time. Eli: 5 / Serge: 5 Recommended: Yes, the area has a beautiful view even if you don’t visit the places inside. Tips: - Comfortable shoes are recommended, since the pavement of the Old Town streets, in general, are made with paving stones.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Mentioned on
+124 other lists
Russian Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an impressive orthodox landmark located on Toompea Hill in Tallinn, Estonia. Built at the end of the 19th century in a flamboyant Russian style, it was funded by public donations. Despite past controversy due to its association with Russian occupation, the cathedral has been restored and holds a special place in the hearts of the city's residents since Estonia regained independence in 1991.
This building is a stunning example of Russian architecture in Estonia. It stands out against the skyline. The insides are nicely decorated, though not as elaborately as the exterior. It is free to visit. There is a well stocked religious shop inside the building. There are some cobbles in the area, but on the whole, the cathederal is accessible to people who use a wheelchair. Ramps are used to aid with access.
Shelley C — Google review
Absolutely stunning building! You can see it from most places in old town, but it's lovely to go inside too. They don't let you take photos inside though just a heads up, but it's still worth visiting.
Tyler L — Google review
This cathedral is beautiful to look at from the outside. You can also get a very nice view from the Kiek in de Kök museum. The cathedral is of typical Russian style. Entrance is free.
Will C — Google review
The beautiful cathedral is certainly worth a visit. Its exterior is quite lovely, and entry is complimentary. While the interior may not be grand or expansive, it is still worth taking a moment to appreciate.
Tony C — Google review
Cool architecture. A must visit. Free to go inside and watch. Easily walkable from the high parts of old town where the viewing platforms are. From here you can walk down to the square again through the wall, a very nice walk.
Hanne H — Google review
I've been to a LOT of cathedrals around Europe. This is the first time I've been made to feel unwelcome. -6° outside, I step through the threshold and within a minute a man has told me to take off my small black wollen hat (despite at least one women wearing a hat). Within a minute after that, a different man tells me to put my phone away, as I was about to take a photo. He points out the sign to one side, which I'd not noticed. The manner of both men was brusque. At that point I left. Architecturally, this is a beautiful place, but spiritually it is ugly. The awareness that this is a RUSSIAN orthodox church was made very prominent by these two men. I've not encountered many Russians...this has been an experience that will colour my view of them. My advice: by all means poke your nose inside, but don't drop any pennies in the plate!
K N — Google review
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is Eastern Orthodox cathedral, located in Tallinn in Estonia, which was built during 1894 to 1900, onto the Toompea Hill, when the country was part of the Russian empire. It is the largest Cupola Church. It was earlier dedicated to the grandprince of Kiev and later to the Russian Orthodox Saint, Alexander Nevsky. The base of the building is that of Finnish Granite, it has 5 onion domes (though I just managed to click only 4 of them), while guilded iron crosses can be seen and there exists stained glass windows still. After Estonia became independent, demolition thoughts had crossed the minds of the government during the 1920s but, no decisions had come to surface then. However, since 2022, the same subject was again revoked as a response to Russias aggression against Ukraine. I don't know whether it was worth seeing this building after all, and perhaps yes, if it is finally rubbled, in future. It makes me wonder, as to 'How we are led by emotions of our times', sometimes our judgements are erred and at other, we survive them, just to go down in the anals of History and exist, for others to see and rejudge the past once again. I guess, that's why we are called Humans and JUST THAT and nothing more.
Neeru D — Google review
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is striking, especially its iconic onion domes. Built during Russian rule, the cathedral’s architecture reflects its historical role as a symbol of power, and gives you a real sense of that story. Fascinating and visually stunning! It's a must-see if you visit Tallinn.

St Olaf's Church, a Baptist church in Tallinn, was built in the 14th century and features a 124-meter tower that has survived multiple lightning strikes. The church offers a narrow observation platform at the top of the tower, providing breathtaking views of Tallinn's Old Town and the Gulf of Finland.
Grand looking church from the outside, trip up the Tower is recommended but stairs are steep and spirally, bit dodgy if passing people too. View from the top is worth the effort . There is a €5 to €8 charge depending on age to climb the Tower though the church is free.
Peter M — Google review
If you want a great view of the cit, pay the 8 € fee and climb the stairs. It is a narrow, winding staircase that takes you up about 250 steps to get a view of the city from about 60 meters above street level. The same staircase is used for going up and down so sometime you have to step aside to allow people to squeeze past you.
Gard K — Google review
Great view of the Tallin city. 360degree Free entrance to the church Tower ticket 8 euro In the 1500s, (if i am not wrong)It used to be the tallest building in the world, ship use the church as a preference guide. Therefore, the thunder hit the church quite some times. It was burn and rebuild several times. Very worth of climbing up for a good view of the harbor and the city itself.
Tommy L — Google review
Impressive church inside but it's all about the view from the tower for me! It's a narrow staircase to the top, I didn't have to pass anyone but I'd imagine it's awkward, there are a couple of seats half way up should you need a rest, but the view is very much worth the trek upwards
Keri B — Google review
I visited St. Olaf's Church during a day of sightseeing in Tallinn. I paid 8 Euros for admission to the tower. It's quite a hike, and to be completely honest, I found the top a little scary (it's quite safe though) in the moment. You can buy a ticket there, and the church can process card payments for the tickets, but if you want something from the giftshop, you'll need cash. Beautiful views!
Bryan S — Google review
Impressive church with a huge tower, visible from all over Tallinn. Sadly, both the church and the tower are not open for visits outside of the summer months (except for actual services on Sunday). A bit disappointing that one of the major historic monuments of Tallinn is not open during the year.
Wies V — Google review
The entrance for the St. Olaf’s Church is free unless you want to climb to the tower which is supposed to provide you with an amazing view of the city. We preferred not to climb to the tower of St. Olaf’s church due to it’s stairs and due to the fact that St. Nicholas church has an elevator going up to its tower which is really close to St. Olaf’s. The interior of the church has a gothic style and the walls are mostly empty. The most striking thing about the church is how high it is.
Ece H — Google review
Worth the step count. Over 200 steps but view over old Tallinn worth it. No queue and not busy on weekday in October. A bit of a tight squeeze when passing others of the steps but not too much of an issue. Great views around all sides. Looking very autumnal.

Tallinn Town Hall is a Gothic building located in the center square of the medieval Old Town. It has a rich history dating back to the 13th century and offers concerts and tours for visitors. The area surrounding the town hall is filled with narrow streets and various historical landmarks, such as the Old Thomas weather vane atop the building since 1530.
Visited with hubby and teenage daughter. Spent longer in there than we thought we would. Found it interesting but we're history nerds. Others, probably nipped round quicker. Good view across old town square from top floor. Didn't climb the tower - too many stairs!
Paula S — Google review
The Tallinn town hall is your typical museum setup. Info about the old town since the 1300s. Not much to say about that. The tower was pretty cool though. Got to go up to the bell and see the city from there. Not sure if the €20 was worth it.
Chad C — Google review
A top stop! Lovely preserved old building with cool stuff and good descriptions in English. Plenty to see, it’s not just a reading experience. The floor just under the roof is super cool. If you’re up to it, climb the tower for a unique view. Note the climb is very steep, can be very crowded and may have a long.
Cynthia C — Google review
Most people only talk about the Tallinn Town Hall for its beautiful building, but there is so much more to it. Can you imagine that it has a museum inside? I didn’t know until I went there. I like the museum because it talks about a special street, the “Pikk Street”, in Danish this would translate to “dick street”. Good thing Estonia isn’t Danish anymore. But funnily enough this reminded me of all the Dicks Streets back in Luxembourg. A strangely comforting thought. There are many places to sit down in the museum, which is a criteria I always use to rate the visitability of a museum. Especially because I have a friend who loves to sit down. The more my friends can sit, the happier I am. We also found out about the Estonian fascination with weather vanes. They’re not just regular weather vanes, they are enormous. You can really not miss them on top of churches or in this case inside the museum. Now coming back to the start, people may admire the view of the building but from the museum you have a beautiful view onto the city. It really is a must visit.
Baptiste J — Google review
This old town feels like stepping straight into a fairy tale – except instead of a dragon, you’re most likely to bump into a tourist wielding a selfie stick. Narrow cobblestone streets twist between colorful medieval buildings, and no matter which way you go, the town hall finds a way to peek at you from somewhere – like it’s playing hide and seek, and always winning. The atmosphere takes care of itself. While you're sipping coffee or nibbling on a local pastry, a horse-drawn cart might gently roll by, and someone in medieval costume could pop around the corner. For the tourists? For fun? Or maybe just a lost time traveler. Who’s to say. Town hall itself is a Gothic masterpiece from the 14th century, and it still holds court with pride. If Tallinn does one thing exceptionally well, it's blending history with charm. And if you find yourself taking photos of the same tower from every imaginable angle… trust me, you’re not alone. This place does that to people.
Michael N — Google review
Tallinn Town Hall has its own museum inside dedicated to both the building’s past and the city’s. It was interesting to learn that there were writings about the Town Hall from 1200s. Entrance fee is 20 euros but free if you have a Tallinn city card.
Ece H — Google review
Tallinn Town Hall is a stunning landmark that perfectly captures the spirit of the Old Town. The Gothic architecture, intricate details, and panoramic views from the tower make it well worth a visit. Inside, the exhibits give a fascinating glimpse into Tallinn’s rich history and civic life. Whether you’re exploring the square below or climbing to the top for amazing city views, the Town Hall is a must-see stop for anyone visiting Tallinn!
William O — Google review
It takes about an hour to look round the town hall. The tapestries and carvings are nice, I was lucky in that one of the employees who works in the museum was happy to answer questions about the exhibts. The attic has lots of information boards explaining how the town hall was restored. The cellar contains an older version of the weather vane 'Old Thomas' but there is no explanation as to who he was. Would not recommend to a family with children.

Hotel Viru & KGB Museum, located in Tallinn, was one of the first foreign-owned hotels during the Soviet occupation. It is known for its association with the KGB, who allegedly wired every room to eavesdrop on guests. The museum showcases artifacts such as uniforms, cameras, and spy gear used by KGB agents during that time. Visitors can explore two rooms that have been preserved since the 70s and 80s, featuring bugging devices and officer uniforms.
Book a tour on the website or make a reservation with the front desk. Meet up in the lobby about ten minutes before your tour. You're going to take an elevator ride up to the top of the hotel to learn about it's unique history as a means for the KGB to spy on foreign visitors. It's an hour tour and a thorougly enjoyed it. About 20 people on the tour and the guide leaves ample time for you to take pictures of the rooms. Great conversation and great views of the city too!
Eric R — Google review
A thoroughly enjoyable and informative tour from Mart, whose dry sense of humour, personal experience and bank of knowledge made it a good all-round experience. I considered it good value for money but be prepared to digest information at a fast pace as Mart speaks quite quickly! He answered all my questions in between stops, which I was very thankful for. A great way to spend an hour and learn more about a very interesting time in Estonia. Would recommend.
Louis B — Google review
Very interesting tour, a little on the expensive side, but I didn't mind paying for it. The tour guide is great, very knowledgable, you visit a couple of secret rooms on the floor that didn't exist and you also get to use both balconies facing in opposite directions to get a good view of the city. I don't think it said in the booking that the meeting place is the left side of the hotel lobby, there's a desk with the google map marker and the word "here"
Keri B — Google review
Our guide was excellent…. Very interesting and sincere. She shared her personal experiences in the Soviet Union in Tallinn, which made the experience much more meaningful. I wish that more of the hotel had been preserved for the tour.
Pam G — Google review
This was my second time visiting the museum for the guided tour and it was a really great experience. Our guide Pasha was really good at explaining and making it a fun and interesting tour with the use of dry wit and humour to make the stories come to life. You need to book your tour in advance and they get filled up fast since it's only for small groups so if you want to go make sure you book your tickets early! Keep in mind that the museum is only available with the tour at their specific times but it is really worth it even for Repeated visits!
Renate S — Google review
Quite cool, eye opening and interesting to learn about the KGB and the tech they used. 20€ seems a bit on the higher side in my opinion, the guide was great though and shared a lot of interesting facets
Tom — Google review
Honestly speaking, I’ve expected to see a bit more artefacts and equipment, but the museum is basically only two rooms on the rooftop of Hotel Viru. However, our guide Rene is an absolute legend with a lot of insight and knowledge about the history of this place, and how the KGB operated back then. Him alone was worth the price of admission. Fun way to spend an hour in Tallinn.
Antun T — Google review
Interesting experience, though a bit pricey for a 1 hour tour. Totally low-tech - the value is in being in the actual KGB spaces, hearing the stories, seeing the artifacts and photos up close. Bonus excellent views! The guide was informative, with a very dry sense of humour. Small tour group, so booking in advance is recommended.

Kadriorg Park is a historic city park in Tallinn, Estonia, established in the 18th century and home to the impressive Kadriorg Palace. The park features formal gardens, museums, and monuments. Visitors can explore a wide range of museums within the park, including art museums like Kumu Art Museum and unique ones such as the Estonian Health Museum and Soviet Statue Graveyard.
Kadriorg Park is a true gem in the heart of Tallinn. Beautifully maintained, peaceful, and full of history. The flower gardens are stunning in summer, and the autumn colors are magical. Perfect for a relaxing walk, a romantic date, or a family picnic. The Swan Pond, Japanese Garden, and elegant palace architecture make it feel like a fairy tale. Great place to escape the city noise without ever leaving it. One of my favorite spots in Estonia — always worth a visit!

Nice park with well maintained gardens behind the palace art museum. Lots of museums scattered through the park as well! There was a cafe and a few (pay-to-use) bathrooms as well.

Very nice and spacious park area with both Kadriorg castle and the presidential residence. Ran into the president himself by chance. Great place for a run

**"Kadriorg Palace and its gardens are an absolute gem in Tallinn. The palace itself is stunning – a beautiful example of baroque architecture, with elegant halls and ornate details that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Inside, the art collection is well-curated and offers a great glimpse into Estonia’s cultural heritage. The gardens are just as impressive. Perfectly landscaped, with colorful flower beds, fountains, and tree-lined paths, they are a peaceful escape from the city bustle. I visited in summer, and everything was in full bloom – it felt like walking through a living painting. Even if you’re not into art, a stroll through the gardens alone is worth the visit. It’s the kind of place where you can take your time, enjoy a coffee in the nearby café, and simply soak in the beauty. Definitely a must-see when in Tallinn

A must when visiting Tallinn which in turn is a lovely city in a forward looking small country of Estonia. Its people has suffered from Russians for centuries yet they do not give up. The park is beautiful, and the city wall of the old city, are the two of the sights with rich histories.

The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and traditional, with beautiful wooden decor. The lighting created a warm atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing dinner. The seating was comfortable, and the overall vibe was intimate and inviting. The food at Restaurant was exceptional. We ordered the Kerala thali and Karimeen Pollichathu, and both dishes exceeded our expectations. The flavors were bold and authentic, with the perfect balance of spices. The presentation was impressive, and the portion sizes were generous. Standout dishes included the Karimeen Pollichathu, which was cooked to perfection.

Extremely poor, dirty and unsafe conditions. Very rude staff, lack of customer service. We have visited this place every summer for the last 20 years while visiting Estonia. Never again. The price goes up every year, but no investment made at all. The rules are not clear, the management has no respect to customers. Really disappointed. Avoid this place.

Cool place for families where you can easily spend whole day without getting bored. Everything is said already about this park in the reviews below. Could be nice to have some kind of season cards, now the only option is one time ticket which is 17 eur. All is all very good experience!

Somewhat worn down, not too cheap, but still a lot of fun to kids of all ages (yes, including 37yo). Also my 4yo loved it. Pools, slides, water football, arcade, bouncy cars, big trampolines, disc and mini gold... Even ping pong. Even the monkeys finally came out, when temperature dropped below 27C.

What a terrible experience, much worse this year and I think the quality of the kids they hired this year is terrible. Main complaint was the trampoline,no obvious line , so we waited, then we were told about the line so we lined up, my son was next, no one else was there, but then the kid let's three children in front and says "there is line and you need to wait 10 more minutes, my son who speaks Estonia told he was waiting and the kid could care less, we were standing in front of him the whole time. I recommend avoiding completely .

Jägala Waterfall

Scenic spot
Waterfalls
This wide waterfall cascading into the Jägala River is also a scenic site when frozen in winter.
A beautiful waterfall that is tinted by the peat bogs that the water flows through. It is the widest waterfall in Estonia, though it was not at full flow when we went. There is parking on both sides. The south side has a cafe and toilets. The toilets were free to use, and they were in reasonable condition. There was nowhere to cross from one side to the other, so you would have to drive round to see both sides. You can catch buses from Tallinn to the waterfall. Once disembarking from the bus, you then have to walk a section of the route directly on the road. I do not recommend this for wheelchair users or families with young children. The waterfall is free to see. The area is not really suitable for wheelchair users. The main area is uneven and has steps. To get to the lower section, you have to climb down.
Shelley C — Google review
We parked via West side car park. Free both here and on East side (although that has a restaurant and better toilets). Very easy to go and look over the waterfall and quite spectacular. You can go frown to stand underneath and swim too via good stairs from the west side. You may be able wade across top but also possible to walk upstream to a nearby (250m) bridge and walk across. Could do with more picnic tables
Matt F — Google review
This was a wonderfully stop on our little roadtrip. There is a nice, free parking area before an easy walk to the falls. There are also additional trails to continue walking on, and by the river, which we did not have time to explore.
Lindsay B — Google review
Worth the drive. It’s a wide impressive waterfall. Car park is around 200m from the fall. You can walk right to the edge. I travelled there in autumn and saw a fantastic sunset (4:30pm) with golden maple leaves.
Philip L — Google review
Jägala Waterfall is a stunning natural spot that’s well worth a visit. A set of steps leads you down to the base, where you can wade into the cool, refreshing water and feel the mist on your skin. On warmer days, you might even spot adventurous swimmers enjoying a dip — though caution is advised, as the rocks can be slippery. Water shoes make exploring more comfortable. If you have the time, pack a picnic and relax by the river, soaking in the peaceful beauty of the surrounding nature.
Ieva I — Google review
Jägala Waterfall, just 25 km from Tallinn, is Estonia’s widest natural waterfall. Dropping 8 meters and stretching up to 70 meters, it’s especially powerful in spring and magical in winter when it freezes into stunning ice formations. Easy to access and surrounded by limestone cliffs and fossils, it’s a beautiful spot for a quick nature escape, though it can be slippery in winter.

I had an amazing experience at this place! It's a beautiful location, not too far from Tallinn, which makes it perfect for a quick getaway. The atmosphere is so charming and peaceful. The food was absolutely delicious – everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The service was also top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff making us feel right at home. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing spot with great food and a welcoming environment. I’ll definitely be back!

We wanted to order and sit outside, but we were refused service. The tables were dirty from previous customers, and the staff said that they would not serve outside. Very disappointed with this attitude and lack of basic service. We expected a much more respectful approach to customers. There was definitely no snow outside and the weather was +12. And the staff simply started to respond rudely instead of offering an alternative and finding a place in the hall.

We stayed there with friends and really enjoyed everything — the service, the quick responses, and the friendliness of the staff. We rented a house — everything was clean and beautiful. The Viru Bog Nature Trail offers a beautiful and serene walk through the Estonian countryside. The path begins with a wide boardwalk leading to an observation tower, then continues on a narrower boardwalk that can be slippery in wet weather. Despite the narrowness of the path, it is easy to follow and provides ample opportunities for taking stunning photos in this isolated setting.
A picturesque educational trail that runs partly through the forest and mostly through wetlands. Along the route, you'll find several small lakes (some are even available for a swim), a lookout tower, plenty of vegetation (including the characteristic bog plants), birds, lizards, and butterflies. An ideal spot for a walk in stunning natural surroundings. Before entering the trail, there is a large parking area and toilets (honestly though you might want to avoid them).

About a 45-minute drive from Tallinn, in the southwest corner of Lahemaa National Park, lies the Viru Bog Nature Trail. This 5.5-kilometer route takes hikers through a magnificent marshland nestled amidst pine forests. Perfect for those seeking peace and nature!

This is the best thing I did in four days of Estonia. Beautiful landscapes, wild mushrooms everywhere, and magnificent colors of wildlife. I will definitely come back to do again.

Such a wonderful place! The Google Maps directions were spot on and there’s a huge parking lot with 2 toilets (no flush but toilet paper and alcohol solution available) at the entrance. The trail is wonderful. After the gravel road, you’ll reach the wooden wallboard and the views are just amazing! Highly recommended!
André M — Google review
Lovely hike! The trail gets narrow, and some boards are well worn, but a nice hike with lots of placards in at least 2 languages. There weren't many people when I went (mid day Tuesday), and a few people were at the swimming bog. You can get there by bus (google maps is accurate), just be mindful of the return bus timing / location (if you walk through to the end).
Angela A — Google review
Viru Bog Trail in Lahemaa National Park was a fascinating spot, we really enjoyed it and learned a lot about bogs in general. Be sure to climb the viewing tower halfway along the trail for a great view and a chance to rest. That said, caution is needed after the tower. As the warning sign indicates, parts of the trail are flooded and damaged, making it very tricky especially for those with balance issues or without proper footwear. At times it’s nearly impossible to walk in both directions, and there’s little to hold onto when giving way to others. Despite that, it was a great experience overall and I can fully recommend it to anyone prepared for the conditions.
Kalyoner — Google review
Very nice walk through the bog. There is an observation deck that offers a cool view. Total circuit was 5-6km. Weather was perfect.
Justin W — Google review
Wonderful path through a beautiful bog (kind of a swamp). Would be very serene, if not for the noise of the nearby motorway, which can be heard clearly and loudly - very annoying. From the tower there is a grandiose view over the vast bog landscape. Beyond the tower, the wide, sturdy and well built wooden path becomes two parallel wooden planks, that are partially under water and actually move quite a bit when people walk upon them. A word of advice - Google Maps will not lead you to the entrance point of the walkway, although it might seem that way. You will end up at a point on highway E20, whereas the (quite huge) parking is situated right next to the exit for the road to Loksa. So, for the very annoying noise level, I have to deduct one star. For the scenery alone it would warrant more than five stars.

Jäneda mansion is the place with rich history. There is a museum here. It is quite difficult to get here, unless you have a car. I was on a guided tour and it included visit to the mansion. The person who told us the history of the place is a professional. The lecture lasted for ca 2 hours. The surroundings are even more beautiful. There is a restaurant, a hotel and a grocery shop not far from the mansion. I recommend to go for a walk in the park. It is gorgeous!

Simply must see. Nice restored old manor. Climb to watch tower and check planetarium.
Roman S — Google review
Completely unsuitable for summer. The rooms turn into ovens because they all face the west – by evening it’s impossible to breathe inside, and the heat lasts until morning. The “curtains” are just cheap rags that don’t cover the windows. There’s no air conditioning whatsoever. Rooms are only cleaned once a week and only if you leave the key at reception – otherwise, nothing gets done. For the entire place, there’s only ONE kettle and a single microwave for everyone. Breakfast? A sad bowl of porridge and, if you’re lucky, a boiled egg. This isn’t a guest house – it’s a decaying Soviet-era sports camp. Avoid if you value comfort or sleep. Would give zero stars if I could.

Very disappointing to see that everything is falling a part and not working as it was in the beginning. 10 eur entrance. I asked personnel if it was renovated, and if all exponates are functioning as planned. The answer was positive, but not true. Honestly, It was a very good project and done really nice, but everything needs maintenance.

Good museum and nice view from tower.

Different kind of museum, more about perception than historic facts, but really creatively put together. Definitely would recommend but don't expect a traditional museum.

Olustvere Manor

Park
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
A very well-preserved and well-maintained complex. There you can walk around, have a picnic, visit various buildings and participate in workshops. It is definitely worth researching about them on the Internet first. You should take at least 30-45 minutes to walk around the manor park alone. A really interesting place with lots to see and photograph.

Really beautiful, calm and relaxing place you will have a great visit here specially if you like peaceful places. There is a big pond with a lot of ducks, the place has a lot of history behind it so make sure you read it beforehand, along with this its scenery is just beautiful .

Olustvere Manor near Suure-Jaani in the country of Estonia is well worth a visit. It lies about 80 miles south of the capital, Tallinn and as well as a canteen and lovely cafe, there are various craft units in buildings including needlework, blacksmith and glass production. The manor itself is very ornate and regal.

It is a beatiful place to spend time in fresh air. Vodca celler, cramic and glass workshops, horses, ponys ponds with ducks etc. A lot to dicover.

Very nice place to relax. I was surprised how everything is open and available for visitors. Nice mansion, variety of animals and nice horses in the stable. Best to visit in the early autumn sunny day to walk around in the park and leave heavy thoughts behind 😀

Interesting bridge which leads to the castle ruins in Viljandi.

Old suspension bridge, located in the old town of Viljandi. A must see.

We stopped at this site while on a guided tour from Tallinn, Estonia to Riga, Latvia. Crossing this suspension bridge built in the 19th century was a memorable experience.

The castle ruin will take you to ancient times. The view of the lake up from the hill is outstanding. Highly recommended to visit in a sunny day.

Not much left from the castle but the whole area is a beautiful park. The view over the lake is gorgeous.

We visited Viljandi castle on our first stop travelling from Tallinn to Riga. It was a memorable time for me to walk through this Livonian castle from a long ago era.

Cute little village to stop - we were driving from Tallinn to Siguldas. Easy and short stroll through the village.

The remains of probably the biggest fortress in Northern Baltics. By now is has been perfectly cleaned and presented, so all that remains is visible and accessible. To experience the location in the best way go there where no events are in progress, so you can have better ways of exploring the fortress. While at it do not forget to check out the hanging footbridge in the back corner of the fortress as well as to look over the lake Viljandi from the convent area. Also check out the poems hidden in the area, accessible via qr codes 😉

What a blast! 3YR kid loved it. Great cafeteria! Excellent service! I went there Oct 20 evening.

After some thought, I decided to buy a ticket and go to the castle ruins. From the outside, there was nothing left there except for the walls, the wind blowing through them, and the going to stool pigeons, so I didn't see the point in going in. Nevertheless, I went to the ticket office and asked the woman to tell me what was interesting there. She turned out to be a resident of this cute little town and was happy to tell me about the museum. I liked her story about the 2 places to visit in the castle - the ruins and the museum, and I bought a ticket only for the ruins. I didn't regret it! Although only the walls remained there, there were photos of what it looked like before and extremely interesting stories were told on these walls! So I advise you to go in!

An adequate castle and museum, notably revamped in recent years. The multilayered exhibition within the castle's tower was commendable, providing an insightful journey through various historical strata. The evident pride in local craftsmanship displayed in the meticulous restoration efforts was indeed appreciated. Regrettably, the Rococo hall, which we particularly wished to explore, was not accessible during our visit. The establishment could benefit from an infusion of interactive features to further captivate the visitors. In essence, the museum still exudes a sense of being in the midst of completion - a work in progress, so to speak.

We paid €5 for a family ticket and went to the museum. It was small but nice; they had lots vintage and antique items on display. There was a wine cellar with some outdoor seating. We enjoyed an ice cream here. Also, there was a VERY beautiful handcraft store on the grounds. Worth a short detour from Tallinn to Tartu.

Huge castle and grounds in the inner yard. Very nice place to visit. You can the surrounding country side when you climb to the tower; good exercise. Caesar salad at the restaurant was good, 4 stars. The waiter forgot to bring the drinks, I needed to remind. This place is worth visiting.

I love history and I love castles, so I found this castle very enjoyable to visit. Not very busy and there's not a ton going on here, but it is cool to stand in the middle of an old crusader fortress. Also some quaint businesses can be found here!

Beautiful to visit at summers, church, great parks and river close by.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful museum, one of the best military museums (and not only) in Estonia. It is completely private, so I advise you to donate a little when visiting the museum, or even better, order the services of a guide - you will learn more new things, a lot of new things, in fact, and you will also help the museum. It is maintained exclusively by the private savings of the museum owners. When visiting museums in Estonia, this museum is a must visit.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting exhibits and the guide's story is simply amazing. People know their business and do it with soul. They tell stories, share facts, show exhibits and accompany you throughout the museum. Very interesting, the whole group listened with rapt attention. There is something to see in the building and on the street. Stories and facts, how exhibits were obtained and much more. I recommend visiting with a guide (Original)
