Vlasina Lake

Reservoir
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
Artificial lake created by a 1950s dam, popular for sailing & fishing, fringed by forests & meadows.
There are no tourist attractions and similar to be found here, only a beautiful, untouched nature, the way it's supposed to be. Vlasina Lake is a stunning place, surrounded by the hills, forests and wildlife. I can recommend Vlasina Lake to everyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful place without noise, restaurants, pollution, etc.
Ivan V — Google review
Enormous and very beautiful lake, on a weekday was peaceful with few people.
Koycho K — Google review
An exceptional place in Europe. Clear water to swim, a bit cool, nice in the summer and early autumn.
Dejan S — Google review
Amazing place and stunning views. Only downside is the littering.
Martin D — Google review
Very nice for a walk. You can take a boat for a cool lake ride - the hosts are very nice. Best to bring own food and water. Nice small market with local stuff is very near.
TZUN4I — Google review
The lake is very pretty, especially when see from atop of the mountains. However, its potential is unexploited. The "panoramic" road around the lake is not that panoramic at all - you can barely see the lake when you drive around it. The beaches are nothing to write home about and the cleanliness of the water is... lacking, especially in comparison to other lakes on the Balkans like the one in Ohrid.
Kiril B — Google review
Very nice lake, partially urban and partially wild. A cold climate is perfect for summer days.
Слободан — Google review
Beautiful place, good camping spots on the shore of the lake. A market and a water spring nearby. Would recommend. 😃 It's quite cold in the night, so I advise some warm clothes.

Amazing and very well preserved historical and cultural monument. The monastery is still actively served and the surrounding nature is just as peaceful and quiet as the holy ground itself.
Ronny D — Google review
According to one historical source, the monastery of St. Jovan Bogoslov was built by Emperor Constantine and his mother Jelena, and according to another nobleman Konstantin Dragaš and his wife. However, the most interesting is the myth about Pop Martin and the hidden treasures of Hajduk...
Miljana N — Google review
Monastery in the Jerma River valley, built in the 14th century. Peace, tranquility and spirituality exude this place. It is an interesting fact that the monastery was never demolished and destroyed by the invaders.
Aleksandar R — Google review
Maybe the best monastery around Pirot. Monastery is good looking, with somr tradition preserved, and people there were nice. And now the nature around it, that is something you must visit and feel. It is located between two huge rocks like mountains and it has river with all green nature around it. Air is fresh, smell is perfect and it is really peaceful and calm. Definitely i will visit this at spring or summer, i know that it will be even better looking!
Nikola M — Google review
Easy access, the monastry is next to the river Erma, so closed to the border with Bulgaria-about 30km. and the town Dimitrovgrad. The road is awesome, the nature is amazing. There is free parking area. Interesting history, peaceful place, beautiful architecture and frescoes. You can buy interesting symbols and souvenirs from there, also there are hand made products like cheese, bread and dough. They are delicious. There is a good restaurant closed to the monastry.
Valia D — Google review
A must visit place even if you are not a believer - extremely beautiful surroundings, serene nature, easy to reach with a car, excellent roads.
Koycho K — Google review
Wonderful monestary that's completely restored to it's full glory. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking and the church itself has it's original paintings from 1405. Truly an amazing place and definitely a place to visit! Also there is a beautiful restaurant for the tired travelers which in itself is amazing as well!
Djordje B — Google review

Stara Planina National Park

Rugged landscape of gorges & waterfalls, popular for swimming, hiking trails & peak views.
Threes awesome spots: Vrelo - spring Kozji kamen - viewpoint - 3.6 km hike to get there but you wouldn't miss it (The best) Slavinjsko Grlo - rocks
Katherine X — Google review
Forget "must see" and "must visit", this should be on the bucket list for anyone living within a 500km radius. Absolutely phenomenal, with so many attractions and places to visit. I've been there five times so far and plan on going many more times.
Vigor K — Google review
Plenty of nature with rural and not much developed villages. Plenty of interesting sites like beautiful waterfall or nerow gorges, but requires a lot of walk. Some sites might be 16km away so for moderate hiking lovers this is ideal place to spend a day. Have in mind that roads can be in highly challenging state. Not for large vehicles like buses. Must be careful for sudden stones or holes at road especially when crossing small bridges.
Ganimed V — Google review
If you really want to relax yourself and enjoy mother nature and her treasures, do visit "Stara planina"! You will never forget the forests the green, the parfume of fresh herbs and grass. You can also meet all kinds of animals. Last time we saw the green river crab in Toplodolska river, lots of protected fish and rare birds. This plase is called "Ogorelica" and it's perfect for a picnick and rifreshing moments in the river!

Fortress Kale Momchilo's Town

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Fortress located exactly in the center of the city of Pirot. iI you want a super relaxing walk then you have to visit the fortress, especially since there is no entrance tax and no other tax. It is very easy to reach the location, which is located in a very nicely maintained park. The park also has a playground if you come here with your child
Mitrache I — Google review
Momchilov Grad (also known as Momchilovo Kale or Pirot Fortress), according to legend, it was built in the 14th century by the Rhodopean Bulgarian ruler Momchil Voivoda. It is definitely worth a visit, although the views from it are not impressive but rather disappointing—dirty and in stark contrast to the fortress.
Albena K — Google review
2025: Back ~6 years later. Now a renovated, modern fortress, open for a few hours a day 10 - 15h, free to enter. There are even screens with videos promoting and explaining Serbian culture. I loved it. So glad things have changed for the better! Be responsible and keep it clean. 2018/9: 1*. No actual need to stop here. The fortress is OK, from the outside, but is closed permanently. The garden around it is dirty and really nothing to see. You can stop if you pass by, for 10 min or so, should be enough to walk around it. Pirot's market is a better attraction.
Marin K — Google review
I think this is the second time I come to Pirot, and the second time the fortress is closed an hour earlier than what it says on the sign outside.... not great for the single tourist attraction in Pirot...
Лъчезар А — Google review
A beautiful historical monument of old Serbia. Nearby there is a beautiful park for a walk and a picnic, a nice place to take it with the family.
Ivan D — Google review
It is a great space to explore and visit. You do not have to buy a ticket, it is free. Next to the fortress, there is a huge park. It is nice to stay there on sunny days.
Esther G — Google review
Interesting little fortress with unusual staircase. Open to public without any fee. Well worth a visit if you ever pass by

Skull Tower

Local history museum
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
Skull Tower, also known as Cele Kula, is a haunting stone structure in Nis, Serbia. Built in 1809 by the Ottomans, it is embedded with real human skulls. This iconic and chilling monument stands as a reminder of the first Serbian uprising against Ottoman rule. During this historic event, Serbian rebels were vastly outnumbered by the Turkish army at Cegar Hill near Nis.
Visiting the Skull Tower (Ćele Kula) in Niš was an unforgettable experience. It's both chilling and deeply moving—a powerful reminder of Serbia’s turbulent past and the sacrifices made during the fight for freedom. The structure, built from the skulls of Serbian rebels, is incredibly well preserved and respectfully presented. The museum provides detailed historical context in multiple languages, and the staff were knowledgeable and kind. It’s not a long visit—maybe 30–45 minutes—but the impact lasts much longer. This is a must-see for anyone interested in Balkan history, and a truly unique site you won't find anywhere else in the world. Highly recommended if you’re in Niš or passing through southern Serbia. Just be prepared—it's emotional, but incredibly important.
Michael K — Google review
A tower constructed from 952 skulls of 19th-century Serbian rebels. The tower was built to serve as a lesson to Serbs who wanted to break away from the Ottoman Empire and was later converted into a monument. Until 1878, the tower remained open and unprotected, leaving only 58 skulls remaining today due to weather conditions and the fact that the skulls were taken away by rebel relatives for burial. In 1892, with donations from across Serbia, a church was built by Belgrade architect Dimitrije T. Leko, encompassing and enclosing the tower on all sides.
Hetz N — Google review
A unique and moving historical site in Niš. Skull Tower is a powerful reminder of the past, well preserved inside a chapel. Entrance is 300 RSD = 2.5€, and the visit takes about 20–30 minutes. Highly recommended for history lovers
Aleksandra M — Google review
Most unique monument in the world. Built by the Ottomans in 1809 as a warning to the Balkan people to not try to do battle with them. Made of the skills of proud Serbian warriors that sacrificed themselves instead of being captured.
Brett M — Google review
Tickets can be bought in the building next to it, but there was no one to check. Around 300 dinars from what I remember. Would be nice if there were more details to the story presented, but I understand why they would want to keep it as it is. All in all, weird feeling that you get there, keeps reminding us of what humans are capable of just for power.
Dora B — Google review
Sad story of the Serbs and what happened when they finally had a TINY bit of success against the Ottomans. To imagine that this tower still stands where it was originally built in 1809 was amazing.
Marjorie G — Google review
It's worth a vist and the entrance fee is not too high. It's probably about a 10 minute vist to see the 4 sides of the tower and read the 4 information boards.
Paul M — Google review
A cool and historic place. Definitely worth visiting. Very easy to get to by bus from the center

The Monument to the Liberators of Niš is a significant and heartfelt monument located in the heart of King Milan Square, which is considered the central square in Niš. This impressive monument, created by the renowned Croatian and Yugoslavian sculptor Antun Augustinčić in 1937, holds great importance as one of the most notable works of art in Yugoslavian sculpture. Visitors can appreciate its beauty and size while strolling through this charming pedestrian area.
A large square where there is a monument, water fountain and shops nearby. A great place for all ages to visit.

The Monument to the Liberators of Niš (1937) with its beauty and size takes the central part of King Milan Square, the central square in Niš. This monument is regarded as one of the most important works of art of the Yugoslavian sculpture art, and its author is AntunAugustunčić, a well-known Croatian and Yugoslavian sculptor. At the top of the monument is a horse rider with a flag that symbolizes the arrival of freedom, and the central part represent Stevan Sinđelić in the Battle of Čegar and Kole Rašić calling people from Niš for uprising.

Nis Fortress, located in Nis, Serbia, is a well-preserved ancient stone fortress complex that has been repurposed into a park with cafes, shops, and monuments. Originally built by the Ottomans in the 18th century, it stands as one of the best-preserved fortifications in Serbia and even the Balkans. A Timeless Symbol of Niš – A Must Visit! The Niš Fortress is not just a historic monument – it’s the beating heart of the city! Walking through its massive stone gates feels like stepping back in time. The ancient walls, Ottoman architecture, and peaceful inner park create a perfect blend of history and relaxation. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike – this fortress tells the story of Niš in the most beautiful way. 🇷🇸🧱✨

Νιce view near river nisava. The gate is across the bridge. It is a theatre and has coffee and food shops inside the fortress.
ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣ Κ — Google review
A wonderful and interesting archaeological place. It also contains places to buy beautiful souvenirs, in addition to quiet cafes surrounded by a forest with a beautiful view. It is really a wonderful place to enjoy.
Недал А — Google review
A great place to visit in the city. There are many old things and buildings in the fortress that you should see. At the entrance there is a public toilet that is free, and in front of it a souvenir shop. There are two small trains here for the youngest who want to enjoy a walk through the park in a different way. A large part of the fortress is under deep shadows. The whole place is with lush vegetation and lots of greenery. Here you will see the remains of an old church, a mosque, a lapidarium, visit museums and many other things. In August, one of the most famous music festivals in the region, Nisville, takes place. It is worth visiting.
Spase M — Google review
Good park, with some attractions around. Has a place for coffee, several souvenir shops, and an open stage with events (might be available online, but I'm not sure). There was no entry fee nor ticket required, but it could be only for this visit. It has a miniature locomotive which provides a sightseeing tour, not sure if it is guided. We parked at a public payed parking, but at the end of the work time for Saturday, but we found it a bit difficult for people who do not have a local Sim card. There is an app, but requires an account which we did not bother to make. Nearly there is a bazaar which has WONDERFUL produce at EXTREMELY affordable prices. Those aromas and tastes took me back to my childhood at my grandma's house - just wonderful, highly recommend!!!
Michael N — Google review

Nazi Concentration Camp "Red Cross”

Mentioned on
+23 other lists
Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
The Red Cross Concentration Camp, situated in Nis, Serbia, is a poignant historical landmark that provides insight into the grim realities of World War II. Established by Nazi Germany during the occupation of Yugoslavia, this camp functioned as a significant detention and extermination center for prisoners of war and civilians. Despite being overshadowed by more well-known camps like Auschwitz and Dachau, it played a crucial role in the war's atrocities.
Exceptionally well preserved camp. You can really feel the atmosphere. You should plan and spend some time reading through the documentaron add it's really memorable. I only stayed there for about an hour and I felt so cold, mainly due to the moisture and lack of any isolation. Can't imagine how people survived there. So scary, indeed.
Ognian V — Google review
Neglected to be honest, love the story of the place and the lessons that you get for that happened here in the past but the place is dying slowly. They should renovate and take care of it more so we can have it through the years. Only 2.5€ and you CAN PAY BY CARD! Very important because we didn't had cash on us. No guided tour, you can just look around alone
Frederiko L — Google review
Definitely worth a vist. Very poignant and disturbing. Note the faded writing over the ticket office. Plenty of information to read and many personal stories. We spent around 2 hours there and took everything in. As a result of the visit we decided to walk up to the memorial where many of the camp inmates were executed. It's about a 40 minute walk from the camp and once there about a 20 minute walk back to the centre.
Paul M — Google review
Visiting the Nazi concentration camp in Niš was a deeply moving and educational experience. The site is well preserved and respectfully curated, offering powerful insights into the events that took place there. The story of the escape on February 12th stands out as a moment of incredible courage and hope in the face of darkness. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history and in honoring the resilience of the human spirit.
SofiandVivi S — Google review
Unparalleled atmosphere, as always in such kind of places. Three floors and good exhibition with artifacts and explanations in Serbian and English
Daniel M — Google review
I would highly recommend a visit if you’re a history buff like me. Walking around this place of death was eerie and cold. This place is well preserved. As you walk into the building where thousands of people were caged and tortured while waiting for execution the mind and imagination haunts you. It’s certainly changed my life having visited this place.
M. X — Google review
Some things should never be forgotten. I recommend to visit. Unfortunately, place is kind of neglected and with no true respect to all fallen victims. Cars of employees parked inside, some places turned into offices, some garbage outside. This place could be much better. It's just not enough will to do something.

Wineries & Vineyards
Excellent family vinery. They produce the entire pallete of vines - riesling, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, rose, cabernet, vranac and cherry vine. Chardonnay is very, very good, one of the best in Serbia. Vranac is also very good, it is not common variety for Serbia but their is must try, not so heavy as the ones from Montenegro and Hercegovina. Other vines are also of good quality. We injoyed their hospitality and the passion and dedication for the work they do. The region has been producing vines since the Roman times, and you can see grapes and vine pots on all roman grave stellas that are still scatered throughout the landscape of Timok valley.

Soko Grad

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Absolutely unexpected adventure! The beginning of the hike from Sokobanja is a nice walk along the small, rocky, picturesque Moravica river. At the final third of the walk, it becomes a bit steeper where some older people or people out of shape might find it a little difficult to get to the fortress in one go. If you make it to the top, there you will find the ruins of Sokolac fortress. I absolutely love the wild appearance of it with no stairs/guardrails/paths/signs... It made it really feel like an adventure! If you go with kids, keep an eye on them so they don't wander off the cliff :) 100% would recommend to all who are seeking a pleasant, low effort adventure over the weekend!
Hunkbug — Google review
With a nice stroll along the river, a visit to a restaurant in cave and chilling on the "vodomar" spring, you can spend more than a half of the day here. Drink pristine cold water on the source and bring some before you climb to the fortress with a stunning view. Another path leading on the oposite side of the canyonenis worh seeing, especially in the sunset when its less hot. Dont leave any trash, and enjoy.
Marko M — Google review
The hike is dangerous. Rocks are slipping under feet, bigger rocks around Soko Grad are polished and insanely slippery. The pathways are narrow and at times are right on the edge of cliff. I would not dare to advice to go there to people with any difficulties or clumsiness. But I saw many people who came there and back without problems so maybe I am wrong. Views are beautiful.
Elena — Google review
**Sokograd Review** Sokograd is a hidden gem with breathtaking views and stunning nature. While the hike can be challenging, especially with kids, it’s absolutely worth it. The scenery at the top is spectacular, making the effort more than worthwhile. Perfect for those who love nature and adventure!

One of the most beautiful parts of Serbia!!! You can reach the waterfall for 20min by walking or pay a taxi to around 3 euro. The waterfall can be seen in the spring and autumn when the snow melts and there is only a small pool during the summer. beautiful nature and a very nice departure there because there is clean air, there is a lot of forest, enough for a man to rest

The peaceful ambiance combined with the harmonious sound of cascading water creates an atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Serbia. When you are visiting Eastern Serbia do not miss this natural treasure... Since there was so much water and waterfall looked so alive, I believe that best time of the year to visit it would be end of February, this would be my advice, just not to miss it in all his beauty. People sometimes come here during summer and there is no water or it is just barely alive...It is few minutes Sokobanja, so when in Sokobanja, visiting Ripaljka is a must... 😀
Darko T — Google review
If you’re visiting Soko Banja then you can ad this place to your “to visit list”. You can reach this place by a car and by walking. If you are coming by car you will find parking area close to the waterfall. Even so the restaurant, small souvenir shops, hospital and a small lake. If walking (depends in which season you’re visiting) it will take you round one hour walk. You will find some limited information in which direction you will walk but it’s not any marked path. Most of the walk would be on the local road up or downhill and you need to be careful and watch the passing cars.

Lazarica Church

Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Reconstructed church with 14th-century origins & a facade of patterned brickwork & rose windows.
It is an amazing place. It took days for Serbian army to take last communion before a battle on Kosovo field ( field of blackbird ) 1389 against Ottoman Army. It is also a tribute to a founder of the city of Kruševac, Lazar Hrebljanovic, better known as Emperor Lazar for the Serbs.
Nikola K — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful small church with great significance. The site itself is lovely, and it holds a special place in my heart as my late father used to attend services here during his years in Kruševac. Truly a meaningful and memorable place.

Resavska Cave

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Large cave system with stone formations & many species of bats, open for guided tours.
I visited the cave with a private guide in August 2024. This is one of the most famous and beautiful caves in Serbia. The tourist path is 800 meters long. The temperature is always around 7C, so it is a good idea to take a jacket or a sweater to the cave. The cave is rich in stalactites and stalagmites, illuminated by various colors of light. The whole experience is a lot of fun.
Dmitry — Google review
Resavska Cave is definitely worth a visit if you're traveling through central Serbia. It offers a unique glimpse into the underground beauty of the region and is a memorable experience for nature enthusiasts and curious explorers alike.
Sorin I — Google review
This is the most popular cave in Serbia, 80 million old cave with a lot of interesting rock formations inside. At the entrance they even give you jackets in case you forget to bring your own as it will be a bit cold inside
Chandra R — Google review
Bring your jacket with you! It is cold. Only guided tours (in the price of the entrance included). They start every hour. The cave is beautiful and a lot of interesting formings.
Nikola E — Google review
A phenomenal natural phenomenon over 80 million years old! The tour lasts about 30 minutes. Throughout the year, the temperature in the cave does not exceed 10 degrees, during our tour it was 8 degrees Celsius. Recommended to visit!

Extraordinary experience , beautiful cave from CREDA period , 800m trail to go 80m underground ...
Viktor M — Google review
We had a great experience visiting the cave. Our tour guide was fantastic – very knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to both Serbian and international guests. He switched smoothly between languages so everyone felt included and understood. The tours are scheduled, so you may need to wait a little before entering, but it’s well worth it. Overall, it was an organized, informative, and enjoyable visit.

Wonderful experience in fascinating caves. Our guide didn't speak any English so we were glad to have our own family translator ;) Tours leaving on the hour (Aug 25). Absolutely worth the trip to this lovely part of the countryside.

Ljubostinja Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Partly reconstructed 15th-century monastery in a mountain valley, known for its artworks & windows.
The monastery (actually a convent) was built in highly ornate Morava style of Serbian architecture in 14-15 centuries. The patron was Princess Milica of Serbia, wife of Lazar Hrebeljanovich, of Kosovo field fame. The monastery was burnt by Ottomans, and most of frescoes were destroyed, but what remains is still beautiful. The grave of the princess is located here inside the church. Looks like the place is rarely visited as I was the only tourist here.
Dmitry — Google review
Excellent monastery to visit if you're in the area. There is a nice outdoor Cafe across the street that has garden seating and a river.
Chris B — Google review
Really beautiful monastery with beautiful garden, and old stone church, with building in old traditional architecture. There is plenty of parking in front, little holly shop inside. It is on the main road, but there is peace and quiet, because not much of the traffic is done there, and wood is surrounding it whole. Trstenik, nice city to visit,is also located nearby.
Rajko K — Google review
This monastery is important part of Serbian heritage. Worth visit.

Ivana J — Google review
Beautiful female monastery near the town of Trstenik. Monastery Ljubostinja was built in the 14th century, in the Morava style, by master Rade Borović (mostly known as Rade Neimar). Here is the burial place of Princess Milica (wife of Lazar Hrebljanović) and Jefimija (wife of Uglješa Mrnjavčević). Jefimija is also known as the first Serbian female poet. It would be great if you could ask someone from people serving in the monastery to tell you all about the history of the Ljubostinja. Great story.

Beautiful monastery of XIV-XV century. Easy to come from Trstenik (near 3 km)

The Ljubostinja Monastery is located not far from the city of Trstenik. The Ljubostinja Monastery will come from the 14th century. It represents a stationary cultural era as a cultural monument of exceptional significance. The monastery has meadows, forests, vineyards and orchards. Monastery Ljubostinja is a women's monastery and today it preserves about fifty nuns.

Manasija Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Manasija Monastery, located in the Resava river gorge about 135km southeast of Belgrade, is a walled Serbian Orthodox complex dating back to 1418. The monastery served as a fortified refuge for artists and writers fleeing the Turkish invasion and features mammoth walls with 11 towers. Despite surviving various foreign rulers and battles over its more than 600-year history, it retains some original frescoes and a mosaic floor.
The best time to visit is on a weekday and in mild weather, so you can fully experience the peaceful energy of this ancient fortress without crowds. ✅ Why is it special? – The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming—you can even bring your dog! 🐕 (A rare exception for monasteries.) – The church is home to breathtaking frescoes, and the whole place feels deeply spiritual and serene. – The monastery shop offers unique souvenirs—I highly recommend the raspberry syrup and natural cosmetics. 🍇🛍️ 🌿 What’s nearby? After visiting, you can explore more hidden gems: 📍 Resava Cave (30-minute drive) 💦 Veliki Buk Waterfall 🌲 Eco-trail (starting from Izvor Lisine restaurant) 🚗 There’s a large parking area by the river—perfect for a picnic. And if you’re lucky, you might spot a herd of sheep grazing nearby! 🐑

An amazing castle with a rich history and stunning architecture. The structure is massive, and the details are truly impressive. Unfortunately, I visited when it was closed, so I couldn’t go inside but even from the outside, it was well worth the visit. Just standing there and taking it all in was an experience on its own.

If you're into history, medieval architecture, or just want to escape the city for a bit, this place is perfect. Wasn’t too crowded, but needs more information about site. Jagodina Zoo

I had very good experience! The animals were well fed and good-looking. The most attractive were the giraffe and the tiger. I will definitely visit it again!
Ivaylo K — Google review
This is a nice Zoo. Not to big, you can cover it all in about 1 and an half hours but it has nice animals and the place looks like they take care of them. The plus is that in the zoo there is a plate to sit and take a drink which helped us wait for the tigers and bears to wake up. Recomendation 🙏
Stefan — Google review
It is right near the central parc and 2 minutes away from Aqua Park Resort. It is very clean, and nothing to say about, they are talking care of location. The birds and small animals have it good but not for the big fellas, like the 2 bears each one in his own cage, small ones, actually very small, it's more like a jail for them, not a good site. The same goes also for the lion, captivity at it's " best "! The two tigers have it better, their cage is the biggest one! The stars are just for the situation of how the big animals represent themselves over there!
Arthur B — Google review
Step right up to Jagodina Zoo, where the animals seem to serve time in an old Soviet prison cell, minus the hour a day outdoor time. Here they have perfected the art of looking utterly defeated. If you want to witness what genuine, soul-crushing boredom looks like, look no further. Here, lions and bears are crammed into cages so tiny you’d swear the designers were inspired by hamster habitats. Seriously, even the hamsters would be jealous of the pacing room these giants get. And that’s saying something. The lion and bear, once mighty kings of the forest, look now more like the main characters of a very depressing reality show. You could practically see the life draining out of them, like they’d given up on hope years ago and were just ticking time until freedom or oblivion. No amount of shade could save their droopy eyes and tired postures. As for their cages: tiny, cramped, and bleak. It's less “animal sanctuary” and more “outdoor sardine can.” Watching them shuffle back and forth in that limited space, the kind of pacing that would make a hamster blush, it’s clear these poor creatures are living a nightmare of monotony and neglect. Water? Sometimes. Cleanliness? Occasionally. Compassion? Hardly. If you want a zoo where the animals look like they’re auditioning for The Walking Dead: Wildlife Edition, this is the place. Otherwise, save yourself the guilt trip and skip it. 0 stars if I could give that. Because these animals deserve better than a glorified jail cell and a slow, quiet death of spirit. Unbelievable that this still happens in 2025.
Stephan R — Google review
Good choose of animals, its small but effective and cheap. BUT! Those animals have terrible places, small, not nice, i saw the depression in their eyes, and also ill chimpanzee. Please make something about it, it has big pitentional
Šimon B — Google review
This is obviously the heart of Jagodina, its pride, it also says a lot about the peoples character who living here. DON'T DRINK THE WATER EXCEPT IF YOU BOUGHT IT YOURSELF IN A BOTTLE This place is an absolute disgrace. The animals are crammed into tiny, filthy enclosures with no regard whatsoever for their natural needs or well-being. It stinks – not just of neglect, but of exploitation. This isn’t a zoo, it’s a prison for innocent creatures, run purely for the amusement of people who clearly couldn’t care less about animals. Every detail screams ignorance, cruelty, and greed. Anyone who supports this hellhole is complicit in animal abuse. This one star counts for the fact they have an exit Greetings from nobody

Aquapark Jagodina

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Water park with swimming pools, water slides & lounge chairs, plus fast food eateries.
Great place for kids in summer. Few small pools with slides and attractions. It's shame there's not some typical restaurant inside Aquapark, so all options for food is fastfood. It's visible that the place is old, but it's wide, open and despite lot of people, you don't have feeling of crowded place
Djordje M — Google review
Very good experience overall! The staff was kind. The prices were okay. The pools could be a little bit cleaner. The slides were fine. They have some gaps which are painful when sliding and could be fixed. I recommend the Aqua park if you have a free day to spend!

NEVER COMING BACK HERE!! The water STINKS and is super dirty?? not to mention that the floor could stab your feet open. And not only is the floor breaking but everything else is also breaking! like the sunbeds, slides etc, and the lifeguards are so rude and weird! One of them was on their phone the entire time when my young sibling almost drowned, talk about unprofessional?? Wouldn't recommend!!

Beautiful place for swiming in summer If you are a turist in Serbia, you must go to this place and have a good time with your friends or family They have very good pool for children and for adult Also, they have stage for dancing and music, and people can win some rewards Also, they have bars for coffe, cold drinks and they have fast food restaurant where you can eat some delicius food before swiming Enjoy!👍😊

Small water park with friendly staff. Rides are okay, but the ones that are taken without seats are quite bumpy and feel like you can get hurt. It's usually very busy which unfortunately means that it gets a bit dirty as the day passes. You can have a good fast food and refreshments on premises.
Nenad V — Google review
ABSOLUTE HELLHOLE! The water is dirty, the pool floors are breaking and can stab your feet, the concrete is too hot to walk on barefoot and the sprinklers don't work! Sunbeds and sun umbrellas are breaking as well as the slides!? The ice creams are melted when served and overall the food is insanely expensive??? Plus the lifeguards are very rude towards people. DON'T GO THERE!!!!!

From the outside, it's nice, neat, well maintained. From inside the water park is not maintained, dirty, some parts are amateurishly repaired. The water park is in dire need of interior renovation!

The staff is extremely unsatisfactory, to put it the nicest way possible. They booked the wrong room first, were not very happy about correcting their mistake, and to make matters worse, they left us with no blankets or covers. Instead of fixing the issue, the receptionist was eager to say "we can't do that" to each of MY suggestions (don't think the receptionist would ever think of a solution themselves), and was open to arguing me for five minutes, instead of doing their job. I doubt I'll ever be booking any of the hotels from their chain again. I recommend avoiding this place. Also, the spa center is really not wow - you can find better ones for less money. Try another resort, my honest suggestion.
Igor J — Google review
Polite staff and service is great. Hotel is clean and nice. The room was the smallest one we got for this weekend - it was not first time staying here. Pools are warm and hot, even those outside and sauna is great. But this time was only one of two sauna was in function .... Steam room was not in function also and salty room was not working. We had a breakfast and bed service I see in description that breakfast is free - it's not- on bill I saw few days later that they charged breakfast, it is some silly price (100 RSD / 0.85 EUR) but it is charged as a separate item. This didn't affected at price that we were told. It was snowing and outside pools were great at that moment.

Memorial Park October in Kragujevac, also known as Sumarice Memorial Park, is a solemn site near Kragujevac, Serbia. It commemorates the 1941 massacre of around 3,000 civilians by German occupation forces during World War II. The park features a somber museum with a permanent exhibition that includes paintings by renowned artist Petar Lubarda and personal effects of the victims.

I brought mine 8 y.o child in this memorial park and museum 21. October for the first time. It was very challenging how to explain horror of the Second World War and what really happened on this place so long ago. This memorial park and the Museum are places that have to been seen. Beautiful, peaceful place in Kragujevac city with lots of history behind every monument in it. Definitely worth of visiting although it left you with sadness and bitter taste.

A popular place for a walk with your family, friends or pets if you're in Kragujevac. Every October 21. there is a cultural show named "Veliki školski čas" where there are plays and a choir that is there to remind us of the tragic moments that our country's kids had to go through. You can catch a couple of people exercising on any other day of the year. All in all a breathtaking place everyone should visit.

Golubac Fortress

Mentioned on

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Golubac Fortress is a 14th-century compound nestled into a cliff along the Danube River, offering public tours. The fortress is well-preserved and provides a glimpse into its rich history and stunning views. Visitors can engage in activities like archery and should be prepared to climb stairs by wearing comfortable clothing and sports shoes. It features ten towers, a palace, and ancient artifacts on display.
One of the best places to visit in Serbia. Sadly we went almost at closing time and only had an hour to explore, but we did make the most of it. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Prices were adequate for such a well kept monument. We were very impressed with the level of the exhibitions and we will definitely be back with more time to explore the higher towers (we only managed to visit three). Make sure you bring long pants and comfortable sport shoes.
Domingo B — Google review
A truly impressive fortress and one of the highlights of our trip to Serbia! The place is full of history, with towers offering breathtaking views over the Danube River. What amazed us most was how well organized everything is – the staff are professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. There are different circuits you can choose from depending on the level of adventure you want, and we really appreciated the safety measures: the most dangerous route is only allowed if you are properly dressed and equipped. It shows how seriously they care about visitors’ safety while still offering an authentic experience. Serbians really know how to make the most out of everything, and this fortress is a perfect example. A must-visit
Denis I — Google review
It was a very windy and overcast day but it was still worth visiting this incredible place. Beautifuly restored. Our guide gave a great history of the place. Many of the towers were closed due to the high winds.
Andrea B — Google review
It could have been the grandest & strongest fortress in Serbia? Definitely a must visit. Here I just want to make a remark that in case you come with a guided day tour, make sure that you get a ticket that Covers all zones, if you want to climb to the top, & make sure that enough time is given. I was so disappointed that I was given the lowest level ticket, not given enough explanations, nor time nor options to climb the entire fortress.
Connie W — Google review
We had a pleasant visit here. Very nice renovation, beautiful garden and landscape. Depending on the route you want to visit, adequate equipment is required. Kids under 12 years old can only visit green route, difficulty increases for each color after green. For green it can take up to 2 hours for the visit, taking other routes can probably take 3 to 5 hours. Recommend a visit here, also nearby town is very nice.
Andrei M — Google review
The well-renovated fortress with a spectacular view, but to be able to climb to the top of the towers you need hiking shoes. It's very beautiful up there, but make sure you don't get sick of heights because there are also steep areas.
Monica A — Google review
Amazing experience! Great construction! On the entrance they explain everything. The most important thing is to wear sneakers and shorts only like that you can go in higher blue zone.
Ivana L — Google review
Excellent experience, all recommendations. The only issue is that you can't visit the entire fortress on the same day, because of the schedule of the tours that you should check before coming. It is shame, if someone is fit, visiting all three routes in one day is not a problem. I would recommend coming early in the day, because of the limited parking spaces.

Pokajnica Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The church was built in 1818 by the prince, military leader and national elder Vujica Vulićević. This is evidenced by the inscription on the icon of St. George, as well as the year carved into the talpa, to the left of the church entrance. Its origin near the place where Vujica Vulićević participated in the murder of his godfather Karađorđe was interpreted as an act of repentance, which is how the temple got its name.

Wonderful place. The most beautiful in the spring when everything blooms. Within the monastery there is a museum where you can find small but a wonderful part of Serbian history.

Popular recreation destination on a lake that used to be part of the Danube before it split off.
We love it here! It's a family friendly vibe with normal people. Food is so good, Copocabana has the best cevapi!

I visited Viminacium and I was so delighted that I had to get full accommodation. Meals are excellent and plentiful, rooms nice and clean, staff relaxed and kind. Adventure park is both fun and challenging for all ages. All in all, a great place for the people who appreciate history of roman period. Also the place is ideal for summer camps, sport clubs and team building.

Aqua park „Izvor“

A real aqua park. Staf is very helpful. It is great for both families and all ages. My family loves it.
Marko B — Google review
Just arrived after a pretty long car drive, only to find out that the aqua park is closed. You can pay a 60€/pP entry fee to get an entry card, along with one clean towel and a key for a locker, only to find out that you get access to a small pull, filled with hotel guests and day-ticket holders, instead of access to the aqua park. Pretty disappointing overall. 2 stars for the cleanliness and the staff‘s friendliness
Brook L — Google review
Good atmosphere, but lacks few important details... crowded during season...
Vladimir P — Google review
Great spa center with thermal water, professional service. Only start taken because my forgotten iPhone adapter was ‘not found’ and the personnel and cleaners said nothing was found and no investigation was performed.
Gligor K — Google review
Great place, we enjoyed a lot with our children. The staff is very friendly at the slides. At the only open restaurant it was a little bit chaotic and we had to wait relatively long for food and drinks. The entry for locals is currently out of space. For an average Serbian income it is like spending 15-20% of a monthly salary.
Christian L — Google review
All is nice and perfect and clean etc, but one thing was driving me crazy "cash or credit card" after each single thing I did, whether I ordered ☕ or did massage, like I will escape from there. I didn't feel comfortable. I felt like a walking open wallet. Customer care is really under question mark, not to mention mind blowing prices. Its not my thing and I wooldnt recommend it if u want to enjoy and relax. When a bill arrives u will not b relaxed.
Sandra J — Google review
Many fun slides, waiting time aprox. 3 minutes. Great for families, especially on summer. The problem is that they don't allow you to bring any food/water inside, and the only restaurant in there is super expensive, unhealthy, with no vegetarian options.
Damjan C — Google review
Ok, so here is the thing: since 2018. pools are for the hotel guests only. Or you can get in but you would have to pay full day pool and wellness and spa entrance, which is pricey. It is 5* hotel after all. But that also means that there is no crowd at the pool, waiting time is non existant and especially before noon aqua park is almost empty. You also can't bring your own food, but you can buy snacks and meals at the pool restaurant. Prices are mid-range. I'm not sure about negative comments about the staff, from what I've seen everyone is polite, professional and doing a good job. All in all, it is steep price-wise but you get premium experience.

Smederevo Fortress

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Well-preserved, medieval fortified city with river views, now used as a park with occasional events.
I wonted to visit Smederevo Fortress since my childhood, and I did it. Magnificent build from medieval era. Worth every effort. Structure is very robust but that how it was built. Local People should do more on marketing, more on cleaning outside the building, remove run down ruins what ever it is, just bulldozer it. I know that the republic of Serbia is a poor but hang on, the structure is of very significant value for us Serbs and Europe too. It is almost in the city centre, just walking distance of about 300m away. Lots of parking spots around fortress and it is for free.
Boris B — Google review
A great place. The keep is quite large but easily seen in about 30 mins to 1 hour. It's fun to climb onto the walls and walk through the towers. There's not much in the way of a museum anywhere so maybe do some research about the site before you get there.
Chris B — Google review
The Smederevo Fortress is a truly impressive historical site and one of the greatest symbols of Serbia’s medieval heritage. Inside, there is a beautiful, well-kept park — peaceful, green, and perfect for walking while imagining what life once looked like behind these mighty walls. The view of the Danube is spectacular, especially in the evening when the sunlight reflects off the river and creates an unforgettable atmosphere. However, the fortress walls could be better maintained, as some parts look unstable and deserve more care and restoration. Despite that, the place radiates history, strength, and beauty. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves culture, architecture, and places that tell stories of the past.
Немања П — Google review
Smederevo Fortress is impressive. I'm not sure why but I was surprised at it's size and scale. Entry to the surrounding park is free and inside the actual fortress is a mere 250rsd. If you like history, especially Serbian history, visiting Smederevo is a must.
Brenda B — Google review
Very nice views. Paid 250 RSD entry ticket. They don't have good information about how to pay parking if you can't pay via SMS (if u don't have a Serbian phone subscription u can't pay via SMS). Also the guy selling the tickets wasn't much help cause he didn't speak English..
Magda D — Google review
The Smederevo Fortress is one of the largest medieval fortresses in the Balkans, located in the city of Smederevo, on the banks of the Danube River. It was built between 1428 and 1430 by Despot Đurađ Branković and his wife Jerina.
Masa — Google review
It's a beautifully preserved castle where people can spend quality time, exercise, and enjoy the beautiful weather. A 250 RSD ticket is required to enter the inner section, but the outer part is, of course, free. It's a great place to enjoy with the family. And the river view is also worth to see.
Amadeus B — Google review
250 dinars to visit a ruin which is now home to pigeons. There are no (or little) information about the fortress.

(Translated by Google) I am very glad that there is something like this in Vrsac. Kudos for the idea! On my first message sent on Facebook, I got a reply very quickly. The person "on the other side" explained everything nicely, patiently and kindly and recommended the game to us in relation to our previous experience and the number of players. We saw for ourselves the friendliness of the game master. Alen was really wonderful and tried his best to make 2021 an unforgettable start for us. Any recommendation for this place!!!

Avala is a 1,677-foot mountain located just ten kilometers from Belgrade. It has been a significant site for various civilizations throughout history and is now a protected natural area in Serbia. The lush forest on the mountain is home to eight sources of pure mountain water, making it an ideal spot for day trips and picnics. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of Belgrade from the top of the mountain and engage in activities such as leisurely walks, cycling, and hiking.
Stunning panoramic views from the top—on a clear day, you can see Belgrade and beyond! The observation deck is glassed, but there’s a small opening for photos. The elevator is quick, and there’s a cafe for coffee with a view. Worth the trip!
AMAZIGH A — Google review
-Amazing view from the tower -free binoculars to see Belgrade -tickets for circa 4€/per -toilets available next to the ticket shop under the tower -either take the car to the top or hike it from avala bus station -there's no bus line like the google maps state

It’s a pretty nice place to visit. You could go there with bus. It will take approximately 1 hours. After the bus you need to walk to the mountain. You need to pay to get to the top of the tower.
