Villa Hügel

Villa
Sights & Landmarks
Villa Hügel is a significant part of Essen's architectural heritage and represents the prosperous industrialization of the Ruhr region. Constructed in the late 19th century by Alfred Krupp, this opulent 269-room mansion sits on a vast 20-hectare estate overlooking the Ruhr. The Neoclassical design reflects elegance and modernity, boasting innovative features ahead of its time. Visitors can explore its ornate interiors and stroll through the expansive parkland.
⭐To avoid being shut out after driving over, or like us, after a long transit and much walking, check the kalendar on Villa Hügel’s own website. 🍉Click into the individual dates. The opening hours are quite irregular. ⭐Wear comfortable shoes. Much walking and much standing around to read the history on the wall made my legs leaden. In a rewarding way, sure. But very much exhausted:-) ⭐No sit-down indoor cafe on the premise. Just an outdoor food trailer. This made our visit even more physically challenging. I would’ve been okay with the trailer food and sitting outside on a bench to eat. But neither trailor food nor sitting in the chill wind was my mother-in-law’s idea of relaxation. So we stayed as long as we physically could and left for bio fuel. ⭐The place is stunning. The opulence starts only when you step in. The exterior is quite pared down. Geometry, woodwork and visual illusions make the spaces interesting. The usual symbolism of western civilizations is everywhere. ⭐Appreciation of the historic value of architectural and textual archive is not endorsement of everything the Krupp family did. Just so we are clear.

Villa Hügel is an impressive testament to German engineering. The architecture and historical significance as the Krupp family residence are fascinating. A must-visit for anyone interested in technology and history!
André V — Google review
A stunning and peaceful place filled with history. Once home to the Krupp family, Villa Hügel impresses with its elegant architecture, grand halls, and beautiful parkland. The exhibitions are well curated and give a deep insight into Germany’s industrial past. A must-visit if you're in the Ruhr area! Amazing place
Armel G — Google review
I would give it a lower rating because there are no explanations in English in the museum, just a small leaflet at the entrance. You also have an app with AR, but only in German, but luckily, I got information beforehand on the internet and I use technology so I can get by, but as a museum, at least add explanations in English for tourists? This is a problem with many German museums. Anyway, the residence and the museum itself are magnificent. The staff is friendly, the park is beautiful. I also watched the TV series about the Krupps, so it was nice to see this in live. A truly magical place. I love history and historical sites and enjoy exploring them around Germany, but many institutions don't seem to care about tourists.
Sandra P — Google review
It was nice to visit the residence of this old timey Jeffrey Bezos, the villa and the garden are beautiful. English translations were missing in the exhibitions and most staff were rude - a number of times they shouted at me or my son in German. You can’t get anything to eat except for fries (nice but not fresh) and bratwurst that was very low quality.
Minke H — Google review
This is one of the amazing places in Essen to visit. A beautiful historical building featuring rich pieces of history. The architecture and design are quite unique and breathtaking, making it very worthwhile to spend as much time going to the many various rooms and seeing artwork, classic furniture and many more. The park around the villa is also quite amazing to walk around and take a nice relaxing stroll. There is an entrance fee to the villa but it is very affordable and I would recommend a visit to this historical house. The place is on the other side of the S-Bahn station of Essen-Hügel, and there are signs to get to the villa, so you can’t really miss this fantastic sight.

An amazing home to visit and look around. The grounds around the home are stunning!!
Jim B — Google review
Großeshaus was closed. I only visited the Kleineshaus which is the museum. Museum has only German subtitles which was dissappointing. Museum has 2 floors and the inside is all about the Krupp Family and how they grew their business, their effects on war, their products etc. There is a big garden where you can walk around and enjoy the clean air. The Villa is close to the Baldeneysee and the Hügel Station.

"Parkleuchten im Gruga Park" is an annual event in Essen's Gruga Park, featuring beautifully designed light installations that create a magical atmosphere. The park comes alive with new lights and different themes each year, making it a must-see attraction for visitors of all ages. The colorful and attractive displays offer great photo opportunities and are especially enjoyable for families with children. Despite the paid entry, the experience is well worth it.

(Translated by Google) It was absolutely beautiful. A lot to see. Terrain that is sometimes difficult for older people and yet very dark. But everything worked out. A great attraction for young and old. Price performance top! The physical well-being was also provided in abundance at affordable prices. Toilets clean 👍🏼 Tip: Use the side entrances and book the tickets in advance. Then it's a walk through, the parking lot on the side of the road was SO free. We'd love to come back.

(Translated by Google) An event that you have to see if you come from the Ruhr area. We were there on a weekday and got a parking space straight away. We had already booked the tickets (adults €9) online and it was very quick at the entrance. Beautiful light events in different shapes and sizes. A great artist! You can also get mulled wine, coffee and bratwurst if you're slightly hungry. A bratwurst in a bun for €4 is reasonable. It took us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and it was a nice trip ;-) (Original) Eine Veranstaltung die man gesehen haben muss wenn man aus dem Ruhrgebiet kommt.

(Translated by Google) I was just blown away, there was a lot on offer and it was very well attended. And the entrance fee is totally justified at 9 euros for an adult. The only drawback is perhaps the search for a parking space. (Original) Ich war nur hin und weg , es wird einen viel geboten und es war auch sehr gut besucht . (Translated by Google) Beautiful light installations. Really great for 2-3 hours to walk and switch off. I would only recommend this to a limited extent with children. At the end there are lights in a park. There is no interaction to speak of. This probably makes it quickly uninteresting for children. 1 star less because there are no signposts. If you don't know your way around the park, you'll quickly find yourself in front of an exit that's not the one you came in through. That might have to be changed.

There are always a few installations that stand out and the €7 entry fee is definitely worth it. (Original) Immer wieder sehenswert. Sehr liebevoll gestaltet Lichtinstallationen. (Translated by Google) Very nice but unfortunately somewhat outdated amusement park for children. There are various carousels, a trampoline, various bouncy castles, a hall with an indoor area and a small snack bar, a donkey enclosure, a fairytale forest and much more. In the middle there is a lake where you can pull yourself across in a boat attached to ropes. It's really nice here for children. I come here with the children 2 to 3 times a year. Prices 2018: Children from 2 years 9 euros and adults 7 euros. (Original) Sehr schöner abet leider etwas in die Jahre gekommene Freizeitpark für Kinder. Preise 2018 : Kinder ab 2 Jahre 9 Euro und Erwachsene 7 Euro.

We are totally disappointed. Price was so high... 7 euro per person. And very small place. most of dolls were brokenand there weren't even famous dolls.and at last we should give back the ticket which we lost one of them and instead we paid 20 euro. There are better place to spend money and time.

(Translated by Google) An amusement park for families with small children. A nostalgic park that is unfortunately very old. Sometimes you feel like you have traveled decades into the past. Security requirements must not be too high. There are carousels, a fairytale forest, an animal enclosure, playground, and an indoor play area with simple catering. A large pond and the hilly forest backdrop create a pleasant atmosphere. However, children must be carefully supervised. The price-performance ratio is okay. Unfortunately, a lot would have to be invested in the park. A worthwhile destination for nostalgia fans. Only limited use for seniors and visitors with walking disabilities.

(Translated by Google) The park is completely run down. For the price of admission, I don't think it's worth going in there. This is usury and not proportional. It might be good for small children because they can ride the carousel as often as they want, but otherwise? In the fairytale forest, 5 out of 10 houses still function, and these only partially have light and movement. The sound no longer works at all. One of the houses stands in ruins on an overgrown path. In general everything is dusty, full of spiders and dirt and broken. The houses that are still standing are themselves on the verge of falling into disrepair. The rest of the park seems okay, the rides may still be quite exciting for small children, but even these are run down, some are broken and some look as if they would collapse the next time you touch them. The risk of injury in the park is very high because a lot of it is really dilapidated and broken. Very dangerous, especially for children. The swans that were running there were very aggressive, they came at us from a distance and wanted to snap at us when they were right next to us without us doing anything. The toilets don't work at all. The girls' toilet is still ok, although very, very old, run down and with a few holes in the wall. Not exactly clean. The boys' toilet is a joke. It stinks, lights don't work, water is running and there are huge cracks everywhere in the walls and even on the floor. This also filled with water. Everything is dirty here too. Since you apparently couldn't replace the sign, you had to write next to it in Edding what kind of toilet it was. There are also food stalls and a large hall. There was a more than unpleasant smell in this hall and the food didn't look very appetizing. However, the kitchen seemed clean. Then comes the entry. From 1 year old, both children and adults have to pay 7 entry fees. Rides are free, food costs extra. It would be okay if everything wasn't in such a miserable condition. When we discussed the situation, we were told reasons that obviously couldn't be right and contradicted themselves, presumably to put it all together. The employees were friendly, that's no question. But the statements as to why the fairytale forest is in the state it is in were ridiculous in my eyes. All in all, I can't recommend the park. For the price, the risk of injury is simply too high and the funk factor is too low because everything is run down, unkempt and sometimes broken.

History Museums
The House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany, or Haus der Geschichte, is a captivating museum located in Bonn that delves into the complex narrative of post-war Germany. Opened shortly after Berlin regained its status as the capital, this museum offers an extensive exploration from World War II's aftermath to Germany's reunification.
By the time I visited, only the exhibition about second world war was open to visitors, the rest was under construction they said. You can find sections divided generation by generation. Very informative readings, interactive medias and striking photos take you through the near history from that times’ perspective. I love the way the content presented in a very objective. Definitely a museum to visit to grasp a different perspective on that era. I only wish there were more source books also in English as well.
Uğur I — Google review
The exhibition atm is smaller than expected. The upper floors were under construction & the lowest floor was about Roman period. After Hilter exhibition is on the ground floor. Educates you about Germany after WWII and quite informative on historical events that remain relevant to today's unfortunate time. Their cafe is pricey but the museum's admission is free, staff are friendly, and their lounge is perfect for students or remote work - quiet and modern. I would love to come back for the other parts of the museum.
Sophia A — Google review
For understanding modern German history in Bonn, I think this is a great place; it presents the period from post-war years up to reunification in a clear, chronological way, plus it’s free to visit and very easy to reach. Unfortunately, when we went, the permanent exhibition was under renovation, so we couldn’t see the main display and only visited the temporary exhibitions. Still, the atmosphere and overall organization were nice; for those planning a visit, I’d recommend checking on the official website in advance to see whether the permanent exhibition is open.
Cihan E — Google review
I must see when in Bonn - definitely buy tickets in advance. When we were there, There was low traffic and the museum is currently being re-organised but it is definitely worth it. The café is nice. We had cake and coffee there which was a nice early afternoon / mid afternoon break And lots of history that you just were not really aware of. I must see when in Bonn
Scott H — Google review
The exhibition about the second world war was open to visitors when I visited the museum. It was really interesting to learn more about antisemitism and what people experienced from generation to generation
Melek Y — Google review
I visited in accordance with the high rating and recommendation. A museum not on a general history of Germany, but only on the second world war and its effects. For this reason, although there were a few interesting parts, it did not satisfy me.
Muhsin Ç — Google review
A really sobering exhibition, and essential visiting for anyone who considers themselves politically interested. Lots of things to think about, especially how the 'elders' of a nation holds on to ideas of the past and steer youth towards it.
Paul B — Google review
I find the visit very impressive. It’s an educative place, though currently there’s only one temporary exhibition since the main exhibition is under renovation. I’m thankful that there’s English translation everywhere.

Nestled in Bonn, the Museum Koenig Bonn is a treasure trove for those fascinated by biodiversity and natural history. Established by the renowned zoologist Alexander Koenig, this museum not only showcases an impressive array of exhibits but also serves as a historical landmark where the Parliamentary Council convened in 1948 to draft Germany's Basic Law, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's history.
Very cool Natural History Museum in Bonn city, perfect for kids’ day out . Also very fair ticket price, spacious eating area, washrooms and kids interactive activities. Definitely recommended.

Amazing experience. Very immersive and well thought. I recommend coming with time and reading the history of the museum and the animals exposed in there. There’s some sort of “reparation” feeling for the poor animals captured by hunting and some beautiful stories about other animals that were dear to the museum. I loved the experience.

We arrived early on a Saturday and there was no queue. We paid 12€ for our family of five. Card payment. We had a twin stroller with us which was easy to navigate through the exhibition. There’s also an elevator. Snacks can only be eaten on the ground floor. The exhibition was lovely

One of the best museums I have been to. The exhibits were very high quality and informative. You could easily spend a few hours in this museum as it has lots to offer. There a mixture of typical museum exhibits, live animal exhibits, VR experiences and audio/video parts. The museum doesn't have translations for all pieces of information but you can get an audio guide and use a translation app on your phone to scan the information

Highly recommend a visit whilst visiting Bonn. €6 each admission so great value for money. Allow 2 hours to get around all the displays. Lots of interactive displays for adults and children. There’s also a cafe and gift shop.

Museum Koenig in Bonn offers a captivating experience for nature lovers and science enthusiasts alike. With its impressive collection of zoological specimens, the museum showcases diverse ecosystems and animal species from around the world. The exhibits are both educational and visually stunning, with interactive displays that engage visitors of all ages. The museum's focus on conservation and research adds a meaningful depth to the experience. Overall, Museum Koenig is a must-visit for anyone interested in the natural world, blending knowledge with awe-inspiring exhibits.

Visiting Museum Koenig in Bonn was a truly enriching experience. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to explore the entire museum if you're going through everything in detail, and every minute is worth it. The exhibits are beautifully curated, and the way they've preserved and displayed the natural habitats and wildlife is impressive. From the African savanna to the rainforest and ocean sections, everything feels immersive and thoughtfully presented. It's a perfect place for nature and animal lovers, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bonn!

This natural history museum’s collection started in the 1930s. The building is a must see, staircases and closed wooden doors align the long hallways are beautiful. There’s a small aquarium in the basement. So many interactive exhibits, mostly for children, but my husband really enjoyed the butterfly magnificently glass. The day we visited, between Christmas and New Year’s, meant that the small cafeteria on the second floor was closed. We got a coffee and cookie out of a vending machine near the coat racks. Charming and cheap but the coffee tasted of super sweet chocolate.

(Translated by Google) A very nicely laid out residential area, truly green, with a small town center and a market square. There are one or two ice cream parlors, a bakery, and an Edeka supermarket in a very nice old building. Tram 901 is a good way to get there; don't go all the way to the end; get off one or two stops before it; it's before a left turn from the direction of the main station. Otherwise, you'll have to walk back about a kilometer and start 'from the back'. (Original) Sehr schön angelegte Siedlung, wirklich grün, mit einem kleinen Stadtkern, Marktplatz. Very beautiful. Really enjoyed my time here. A lot of benches for anyone who needs to rest or just to sit and enjoy the nature around you in the outside gardens. The greenhouses were gorgeous to walk around in as well. Extremely wonderful for a lovely outing. Atmosphere just perfect.

It’s a very huge park, with a castle and multiple ponds and various types of trees and plants. All the trees and plants are with labels and you can get yourself informed about them. There’s also a toilet free of charge, and also a restaurant. It’s an amazing place to visit on weekends with family and friends.

Awesome place. We visited in late March. P There is plenty of free parking. Allow about 120 minutes. Tours last 90 minutes and run every 15 minutes. While the staff speak excellebt English, the tour is all in German (unless booked as a group in advance) - but ask for the English booklet and read as you go round (slef guided tours are not an option). Free toilets on site and lots of walks in the surrounding hills are there. Can be cold in the winter, so wrap up warm. You need to buy a photo pass if you want to take pictures.
Paul B — Google review
Be prepared. If you don't speak German you might find it to be pretty dull. The tour is guided and the guide only spoke in German and offered no English at all. He did speak English but he didn't like to be interrupted. So I didn't ask. There isn't a huge amount to look at but it is all about the story and the context. So if you cannot understand what is being said then it does make the tour rather like standing in a chilly tunnel. I believe all the facts and figures and information was very interesting judging by the reaction of the German speakers on the tour. None of the reading material or signs have any English translations. So I came away knowing no more than when I arrived other than when it was built (I think). None of this is intended as a criticism. It is in Germany and I don't speak German. But you just need to know what to expect.
Oliver — Google review
A piece of important history everyone should see. Be prepared that it is only possible to visit in groups, and the tickets are 15eur pp, plus 2,5 eur photo surcharge if you wish to rake photos. It's a bit sad that tge tours are only in German.
Nicolas M — Google review
Great tour! Truly a trip through both history and a future we have luckily avoided so far. Great tourguide, great rooms that displayed what life was like. Definitely worth the long trip!
Willemijn — Google review
Excellent tour and visit, you are only allowed in groups with a guide. When we went we were the only English people so had to go in a German group. So I didn't get most of the info, but read lots before the tour started which helped out. Great photo opportunities and really makes you appreciate what it was like in the cold war. Only a fraction of the tunnels now exist, but what remains is very well preserved.
Dom — Google review
Interesting, and really good rainy day alternative. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Dystopian part of history… but somewhat relevant to today. I can only recommend
Derya G — Google review
Very interesting piece of cold war history. Tours are extensive and very informative, however in German only unless you book a group tour. You "only" get to see a 230m stretch of the 17km bunker but it's quite more extensive than it may seem. Tours last about 90 minutes and explain the history, technical details, as well as the life in the bunker. You can drive a few km down the road and also see the sealed former main entrances.

The Neanderthal Museum, situated on the outskirts of Dusseldorf, offers an engaging journey through four million years of human evolution. Visitors can explore lifelike human sculptures and interactive audiovisual presentations that vividly depict the story of humankind from its origins to the present day. The museum is located in the Neandertal valley, where the first Neanderthal was discovered over 160 years ago.
We had really great time here with kids. The museum is good bus access from train station. In the museum we will receive a headset, you can hear very detailed information in each items. You need extra few euros to visit the tower, its few minutes walking distance from the museum building, it’s worth to visit too. Play ground for kids also a high light! We spent 5-6 hours in total there! Worth to come again :)

The museum is worth than I expected! Nice English explanation by using headset. Addition to this, I’m not sure about other languages but they prepared printed material in Japanese. Very wide area but when I got lost little bit, one of the receptionists was patrolling around and he came to me and asked. Good neighbor and nice hiking area.

Good Museum, but mainly for children, family visit as lots of interactive thing to watch, listen and outside is a playground. Even if u are not an evolution fan, but it worth a visit. Nice walk outside,at the cansl and woods, natural and not too overtrimmed. Bit left wild as huge area connect to the Neanderthal valley.. Recommend
Bea E — Google review
The museum is a hidden gem, specially for expats like me or tourists from abroad, as it has plenty of text and audio in English (unfortunately not that common in Germany). The reconstructions are incredible and are definitely the highlight! But the museum actually offers very good content, with detail in the scientific disciplines involved and including important civic takeaways. It is also quite interesting for families, since the permanent exhibition includes a lot of interactive elements and an audio guide with voice acting for immersion.

Nestled in the heart of Cologne, the Cologne Zoological Garden is a historic gem that has been captivating visitors since its establishment in 1860. This long-standing zoo boasts an impressive collection of over 10,000 animals representing more than 850 species. Among its many attractions are a stunning elephant park—the largest in Northern Europe—an engaging aquarium, and a lush rainforest house that transports you to exotic locales.
What a lovely day out with great friends! Weather was cooperating and most of the animals were out and about! Some we did not see because they were hiding or somewhere else but there was still plenty others to see. We loved the dinosaurs too! Stopped by the restaurant for some lunch which was also very nice. Lots of bees/wasps flying around while we were seated eating, so maybe not a great place if you are allergic, but otherwise really nice. Bathrooms were easy to find and it was easy getting in and out. Loved how playful the others were being! Thank you from the US!!

The 165th anniversary of Cologne Zoo is celebrated with evergreen content: dinosaurs. But also with a Panini sticker album. So, if you want to give your children a treat, buy the Dino kombi ticket with the sticker album. Do so online to jump the queue on site. I highly recommend to also book the Dino VR experience in advance - it is a ten minute visual aid (in coop with local VR hero TimeRide) and adds to the animatronics dinos scattered throughout the park. Otherwise, the 14 dinos add a nice distraction to the regular inhabitants of the lovely zoo. Some are animated, others really huge. One of the oldest zoos of Germany sports some nice attractions but also undergoes some considerable refurbishments. Some areas are closed off, others are currently under construction (giraffe house). But some historic buildings (old elephant house) surely add to the flavor. We paid €98 for two adults and 2 kids. So plan to bring your healthy snacks and drinks with you, otherwise better top up your Amex ;)

Although zoos are not my favorite place to travel, this zoo surprised me. Animal rights were relatively respected and different and rare animals were collected in this zoo. I saw the Iranian cheetah, an endangered animal, for the first time in this zoo. It was a completely different experience from the zoos I had seen in Asia and Europe. I had it here.
Arash R — Google review
An incredibly expansive and intricate zoo, with an insane amount of different areas and habitats to visit. Definitely reserve at least a few hours to complete a full loop of the zoo! I've never seen so many of certain animals before, namely the meerkats. Gate staff are also super friendly and speak English which makes it easy.
Perth2Go A — Google review
Wonderful zoo and perfect size to walk around and see everything. My children loved the feeding sessions for the seals and otters and we really enjoyed our day. The animals are looked after well and I would come again and recommend to family and friends.
Diva H — Google review
Have been there again after a long time, it seems most animals kept well, they have more space now and look ok. Only the see through pool of the hippopotamus had an eco problem and was very cloudy, which was why they weren't fed for the public. The ant eater looked bored and moved repetitive. I liked the space of the cheetah which looked very natural. Entrance is expansive, but if you buy tickets online you get a daily free ticket for public transport
Jasmin G — Google review
The Cologne Zoo is very small. The elephant house and fake dinosaurs take up most of the space. The zoo is a dreary, bleak, and absolutely ugly place, captivating depressed animals. It's truly awful, giving an abandoned desolated and apocalyptic area. Anyone who doesn't feel pity for them probably won't feel anything else either. Every enclosure is super tiny. A lot of animals were also not there. The tropical house was closed, as well as every snack bars except one.. on a weekend.
Nini — Google review
The Cologne Zoo was Fascinating and I had a remarkable time looking at and watching all the different types of animals. One exception is that they could zone the animal regions so you know what animals are where based on their location they are found. My father in law, Gary enjoyed watching the penguins and the seals jump and dive into the water, Gary said “looks fun to be one”. We both had an amazing time in the Dino VR which tells you how the dinosaurs went extinct and how they lived before. It’s fascinating and a must see, the food selection could be better but overall a great zoo experience. One of the better ones i’ve seen!!🙌

The Cologne Triangle, a striking modern office building in the Deutz district, features an impressive observation deck that stands 103 meters above the ground. This vantage point offers visitors breathtaking 360-degree views of Cologne and its iconic Rhine River. For just a small fee, you can ascend to this sky-high platform either by lift or via stairs for those seeking a bit of exercise. The experience is particularly magical at dusk when the city lights begin to twinkle below.
Great way to enjoy a 360° view of the city of Cologne. The entrance ticket costs 5€, you then take an elevator for 29 floors and arrive on the roof of the skyscraper. Unfortunately there are protection glasses so it's not easy to take good pictures. I think that the panorama give its best at night.

The ticket is just 5 euros and you go up 28 floors pretty fast. It’s just 10-15 mins walk, across the bridge. And totally worth it. Could be windy there so carry a jacket.

Go in the evening when the city lights up it’s a whole vibe ..! (: Ticket cost 5€

This is a great alternative option to see the city from high or having to climb the steps of the cathedral bell tower. There was no queue when we arrived, 5euros for a ticket, get on the lift to the 28th floor and your free to roam around the top. Great views and really sheltered from the weather with super high glass barriers. It's a great place to get away from the noise of the city. They do not allow suitcases but were fine with rucksacks. The Lindt Chocolate Museum in Cologne offers a delightful journey through the history of chocolate, from its ancient origins with the Aztecs to its modern-day production. Situated by the waterfront, this museum showcases various exhibits that provide insight into the evolution of chocolate over time. It's a sweet escape for anyone with a love for all things chocolate and is definitely worth a visit while exploring Cologne.
The museum was amazing. I went there with a friend, and you start with an interesting information room about where cacao actually comes from and how it is harvested. When you enter, you’re also offered a few pieces of chocolate, which taste amazing. After that, you go to an actual factory where they produce fresh chocolate, and you can get a small piece to try. It tasted amazing and smelled wonderful. You can also buy freshly made chocolate there. At the end, upstairs, there is a nice showroom with interesting displays of old chocolate packaging. When exiting, there is a small shop where you can buy chocolate as well. In conclusion, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone.
Hakan B — Google review
Location is convenient along the river so if one is coming from a river cruise docking, can walk over in minutes. There are a lot of people, so would recommend booking tickets ahead of time. We decided to go late and managed to get 2 of the last 3 tickets within the 2 hrs before closing. Do note that there are discount tickets closer to end of day for a reason. The stations close half an hour before the entire museum close (6pm close then 5:30pm stations are cleared). With the amount of people, it is hard to go through everything before stations stop if it’s close to closing time. We went on a bad day: close to closing time, weekend, and a day where shops in the town are closed for All Saints’ Day, so everyone went to the museum. The layout of the museum does not allow for multiple ways to get to different floors/rooms. There is only 1 elevator for guests to use. So it will be a long wait going between floors and stations to get any free chocolate (we got none… too long of lines and stations were closing). But overall, still a good place to visit. Would just suggest to not go late in the day but more during daytime in a non-weekend, that should make the experience more enjoyable.
Veronica C — Google review
I had a wonderful time at the chocolate museum. Plenty of rooms with easy-going info about the origins of chocolate, cocoa, its processing, packaging, transport, and commercialization. You can see in loco a section of a production line and taste a sample of chocolate. Also some interesting historical info on where it all began. It is a great museum for families, kids or only adults. plenty of games and experiments for the young folks. I was so entertained that I almost forgot to take photos. If you are in town don’t miss this museum.
Jorge A — Google review
The entrance was guarded by a tall female staff who looked very angry and not at all welcoming. The museum content was very extensive, curated with great detail and academic accuracy, very educational. You also get to try the milk chocolate as it was produced. We only wish there was a water fountain or at least a vending machine that sells water because the chocolates were quite rich and sweet. The cafe staff were very attentive and hospitable, price was reasonable. The entire experience has been most positive but was ruin at the end. I was waiting for my family who went to the washroom by the main door. The museum was closing in a few minutes, I wanted to go to the bench next to the door to put my coat on. The same tall angry female employee from the ticket entrance came to me, wouldn’t allow me a moment for coat and ask me to go out the door because “we are closing in a minute”. There were still people in the gift shop, at the coat check and coming from the bathrooms at the time. Being the only Asian female in the hall I felt unfairly targeted and discriminated.

It was in the year 2025, during Christmas, I was exploring the very famous Christmas markets in Köln. It was extremely cold and I needed some hot chocolate. There was none available in the market. So we decided to step inside the cafe and we were awestruck by their service. Even though itwas heavily crowded, we got two seats quickly and ordered their hot chocolate and banana waffle. The hot chocolate was extremely delicious, particularly with the cream on top. The waffle had one white chocolate ice cream, something that I had never tasted before and it was extremely delicious. Best part is that the prices were extremely reasonable. I would go there again and agan.
Pranjal N — Google review
We visited the Lindt Chocolate Museum on Sunday the 23rd, and it was very busy. Luckily, Max, one of the friendly floor walkers, helped us book tickets online via QR code. The museum was more about learning the history and process of chocolate than eating it, but there were a few tasty samples. The highlight was the wafer dipped in the chocolate fountain—absolutely delicious. Pro tip: when you reach the machinery section, head to the right side for two sample opportunities, as most people go left. Overall, informative and enjoyable, though not quite what I expected.
Garry C — Google review
For 18 euros it’s not the best value for money. There was a good amount of information to read around the museum and the chocolate making room was incredible. However, it was very busy causing a huge amount of queuing and not much chance to enjoy the experience. The free chocolates were a nice touch but for the price of admission there was very little. Gift shop at the end had lots of choice but definitely pricey.
Hannah E — Google review
The museum is very interesting but has however a few points for improvement that would make the experience more pleasant. I visited today (23/11/25) at 12. Firstly, for the entire duration of the tour, we couldn't find a single toilet. Maybe it was not properly signed? At the ticket counter, the the ticket officer was unbelievably rude and rushing to pay, even though there was no queue and I was just ensuring she understood the proper time slot that I wanted. Time slots are also another big problem. Unfortunately, the same time slot is allocated to more people than it should be allowed to. This leads to queues during the tour and you can't actually enjoy the experience at its fullest. Also, the crowd is not properly managed by the personnel (for example, the queues for the entry mixes with the ones for the museum cafè and cloakroom), leading to chaos. Neverthless, it was an enjoyable experience.

Nestled in the heart of Cologne, Museum Ludwig is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Once the private collection of Peter Ludwig, this museum showcases an impressive array of modern art that spans various movements including Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism, and Surrealism. As you explore its vibrant halls, you'll encounter everything from striking paintings to intricate ceramics and thought-provoking sketches.
A fantastic museum for modern and contemporary art lovers. Museum Ludwig has an impressive collection; from Picasso and Warhol to Lichtenstein and contemporary German artists. The layout is spacious and well organized, making it easy to explore at your own pace. Some temporary exhibitions are truly thought-provoking and beautifully curated. The view of Cologne Cathedral from the upper floors is a bonus also. It’s definitely worth spending a couple of hours here. If you enjoy art, don’t skip it while in Cologne.

What a lovely museum; both its architecture and its collections, they are all breathtaking… Museum Ludwig is highly regarded as one of Europe's most significant art museums, particularly for its collection of modern and contemporary art… It has diverse collection, which includes extensive holdings of Pop Art, Picasso, and works from the Russian avant-garde… The museum's architecture and spacious galleries are excellently contributing to a positive experience… Its main key aspects are as below: Extensive Collection: It boasts a vast collection spanning various artistic movements from the 20th and 21st centuries, with notable strengths in Pop Art, Picasso, and Russian avant-garde works… Renowned Artists: You can expect to see works by iconic artists such as Picasso, Warhol, Lichtenstein, Richter, Mondrian, Dali, Kandinsky, Nolde, Kokoschka, Man Ray, Pollack, Miro and many more… Well-Curated Exhibitions: The museum is well-organized and thoughtfully presents exhibitions, offering a mix of established masterpieces and cutting-edge contemporary works… Architectural Design: The building's architecture, including its spacious galleries and natural lighting, is enhancing the overall viewing experience… Location: Situated near the Cologne Cathedral, railway station and the bridge the museum's location is very very convenient… Overall: Museum Ludwig is a high-quality art institution that offers a rewarding experience… Having said all these, need to mention that some visitors suggest that the museum could improve the information provided alongside the artworks, particularly for those less familiar with modern art…

Its collection focused on modern and contemporary art is already very strong, but for me it has a special place especially because of its Picasso works. Being able to see original Picasso paintings from different periods so closely, and examine them down to the brushstrokes, is a truly impressive experience. They don’t just remain as paintings hanging on the wall – you find yourself wanting to stand in front of them for a long time and think. Alongside that, the pop art and other modern works make the museum even richer. Even if you only have a slight interest in art, it’s a place you should definitely make time for and one that shouldn’t be missed on a visit to Cologne.

A fantastic museum with an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art, including standout works by Picasso, Warhol, and Lichtenstein. The layout is spacious and well-curated, making it easy to explore at your own pace. Some sections may feel a bit niche or abstract depending on your taste, but overall it’s a must-visit for art enthusiasts. Great location next to the cathedral and worth the visit.
Leon B — Google review
I think this is one of the most important museums in Cologne and one of the main art museums in Germany. You can easily spend 2-3 hours there: it ranges from a very important modern art section with John Cage and "Five Friends" to important expressionist painters, local and international impressionists, and even some Picassos. Everything is stunning, four floors of pure art. There may be lines.
The F — Google review
This place is remarkable! This is a museum where every single painting is worth seeing. Of course, the Picasso collection is the most famous and iconic, but you can find plenty of splendid paintings there. My only regret is that I had only 1.5 hours to see this collection.

The Cologne Central Station has been refurbished and upgraded to cater to local, national, and international passenger trains. The hostel adjacent to the station offers easy access to nearby tourist destinations. The rooms are well-lit with parquet or hardwood flooring and large windows providing a great view of the neighborhood. Guests can sleep soundly on comfortable single beds with individual bed headlight for checking emails while lying down.
Cologne Central Station is one of the best and most convenient train stations I’ve used in Germany. It’s very well-connected, with frequent trains to major cities like Frankfurt, Berlin, and Amsterdam. The station is clean, organized, and easy to navigate, even for travelers who don’t speak German. Signs are clear and available in English, and the staff were helpful when I had questions. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and even halal food options nearby. The location is also perfect—just next to the beautiful Cologne Cathedral, so you can enjoy sightseeing even during a short stop. Overall, a great experience. Safe, efficient, and comfortable. Highly recommended for both local and international travelers!

Love how this central station is extremely close to the famous Cologne Cathedral. You get out of the station and voila, the main landmark is there. I went around a little bit and it's quite dirty and smells urine and all other unpleasant ones. Otherwise, I was just happy at how convenient it was located to my main destination, which is the cathedral.
Gemini W — Google review
I love that you can see Koln Cathedral as soon as you step out of the train station. And that you're right in the heart of old town, an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions. There were a few coin operated rides in the train station to keep my little boy happy while we waited. I believe there were also local cafes but I just had Starbucks this time.

Nice & huge Place, it's have all service and restaurants. Possibility of traveling to most parts of Germany, beautiful views of the famous Cologne Cathedral, and easy access to tourist attractions (river, cable car, museums, shops, old town, etc.)

The train station is okay and is located well but… Why is there ONE BATHROOM?? The queue was so long and I just needed to go :( there are also a lot of druggies and strange people around the station and a lot of drunks.
Nevlos — Google review
One of the most beautiful Central Stations (if not the best) in Nordrhein-Westfalen. From there you have multiple possibilities with the tram, S-Bahn or subway. You can also take a walk around to see the old city. The cathedral in front of it is a MUST SEE!

Köln Hauptbahnhof is easily one of Europe's most visually stunning railway stations, thanks to its breathtaking location right next to the magnificent Kölner Dom, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The direct proximity creates a dramatic and mesmerizing view as you exit, where the modern travel hub is dwarfed by the towering spires of the Gothic Cathedral. This central location makes it the perfect gateway, not only serving as a crucial junction for high-speed ICE and international trains to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam, but also providing immediate access to the River Rhine, the famous "love lock" covered Hohenzollern Bridge, and Cologne's historic Old Town.

A great place to arrive and depart. This station is located in the middle of everything. There is the famous Cathedral, history, a museum and lots of shopping areas with restaurants. A short walk & you can walk beside the River or across the bridge .

Cologne Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic architecture, stands as a majestic landmark in the heart of Cologne. Its grand facade is just the beginning; visitors can embark on guided tours that not only delve into its rich history but also offer breathtaking views of the Rhine River. The vibrant city surrounding this iconic cathedral is alive with culture and charm, from medieval markets to lively carnival celebrations.
Majestic…. In every angle. Firstly a great place of worship. A great prayer hall, architecture, gothic at is best. The entrances from east and west are not to be missed of its details. The north with two mighty towers offers best of it. The huge windows with itched glasses depicting various holy characters are worth watching in details. It takes one full day to enjoy this place in and out.

Utterly breathtaking and awe inspiring Cathedral. Immensely beautiful, clean and free to enter. Excellent support service in the Information centre. Many lovely older worlde cafes nearby.Toilets outside the Cathedral are clean and well maintained.

The Cologne Cathedral is absolutely amazing and breathtaking! Its enormous size and stunning Gothic architecture make it one of the most impressive landmarks I’ve ever visited. Even though it’s often crowded, everything feels well organized, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and respectful. It’s also right next to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), so it’s very easy to reach — perfect for a quick stop or a longer visit. The gift shop is lovely, with nice souvenirs and books about the cathedral’s history. I especially recommend visiting on rainy days — the interior feels even more magical and calming, with the sound of rain outside and the light coming through the stained glass windows. Truly a must-see spot in Cologne!
Armin V — Google review
During our Rhine River Cruise, we came here to see this great piece of Gothic architecture. We came with our guide. Since they are not allowed inside, we saw it ourselves. It took more than 600 years to complete this magnificent Church. It was declared World Heritage Site in 1996. It is most visited landmark in Germany. More than 6 million tourist visit every year. It is the third tallest Church in the world. This medieval Church is continuously renovated. It is very beautiful from inside. The stained window glasses and other piece of art and paintings are magnificent. It's open from 10 to 5 from Monday to Saturday and 1 to 4 on Sundays. Minimum one hour is required to see it properly. The trolley bags and other big bags are not allowed inside.
Balkrishna S — Google review
An absolutely breathtaking masterpiece, one of the most awe-inspiring buildings you’ll ever see. Standing before it, you can truly feel the weight of centuries, the devotion, and the artistry that went into every single stone. The towering spires seem to touch the sky, and when the sunlight hits the stained glass windows, the entire interior glows with color and quiet power. It’s not just a cathedral - it’s a symbol of human perseverance, faith, and creativity. Construction began in the 13th century and took more than 600 years to complete, yet the vision never faded. Every detail, from the delicate sculptures to the massive arches, tells a story of patience and belief that beauty is worth waiting for.
Freya N — Google review
Its foundation was laid in the 13th century and it was only completed in the 19th century; it rises in the very heart of the city as one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture. Both the details on the exterior and the historic, tranquil atmosphere you feel once you step inside are truly mesmerizing. Just walking around in the silence, with light filtering through the stained glass and the ceilings soaring above you, is an experience in itself. It’s a landmark that’s become synonymous with Cologne and, in my opinion, a truly magnificent place that you definitely shouldn’t miss.
Cihan E — Google review
We came for the Christmas markets but were wowed by this cathedral. Absolutely stunning. It is free, which is amazing!!! We walked right in. We did pay €20 for the whole family to go up the south tower. We did not buy these ahead. It was a little tight up the stairs. 535 of them. We saw the bells and they rang when we were by them, which was cool.
Nancy P — Google review
One of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever seen. Cologne Cathedral isn’t just a building — it dominates the city. The closer you stand, the more unreal it feels: every detail, every shadow, every tower looks carved with impossible precision. Inside, the atmosphere drops into silence instantly. It’s calm, powerful, almost overwhelming in the best way. If you’re in Cologne, this is the one place you absolutely can’t skip. Truly unforgettable.

Tiger & Turtle Magic Mountain is a captivating art installation nestled in Duisburg, Germany, designed by the talented duo Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth. This remarkable structure resembles a roller coaster but serves as an interactive walkway that invites visitors to explore its winding paths and steep ascents. Standing at 35 meters high on a man-made hill crafted from remnants of a former zinc manufacturing site, it offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding industrial landscape.
Lovely place for an easy hike, mild breeze and a great view. Lush green perimeter and some benches to sit and relax.
SACHIT V — Google review
What a wonderful place to get exercise, see a great view of the town (I went at sunset!), and have some FUN! This is an interactive sculpture that is a walkable "roller-coaster" (minus the rollers). I uploaded a video of doing the walk on my youtube and sped it up to give it the 'roller-coaster' feel for funsies. Make sure you wear pants under your skirt! As the walkway of the sculpture is metal-mesh and not all solid. Be careful on windy days... Other than that, it's a great place to take pictures! When you enter, you can choose to go right or left. The right side is the longer way. Either way, you have to return back to the beginning going back the way you came, so it doesn't matter which way you choose first -- you can go both ways. There are gates preventing you from accessing the "upside down" part of the loop (obviously for safety reasons). At the base of the sculpture, there are a few benches to sit on. There is also a trashbin near the benches. There's a short hike up an easy incline up a hill to reach the spot from the nearest tram stop. There are also a couple "shortcuts" that cut through the wooded area -- but maybe you need a local to show you where they are... xD When you get off the tram, just follow the paved road to the top and you won't get lost. (Be sure to keep track of the tram time schedule so that you can plan your trip accordingly!) Oh! BTW it is totally FREE! Like most best things in life are sposto be.... yey. Enjoy Germany!
Sophia S — Google review
A very nice experience. You can take a walking trail around in nature. On the paths between the trees. When you go up there is an interesting facility like an amusement park. You can go up the stairs but you can't go down the other side. You have to go down the side you go up. Because there is a part in the middle where you can't go. At night the lights come on and you see the sunset. A spectacular sight.
Gi — Google review
Great, different, free! A walkable roller coaster, only the looping sections were blocked because you can't walk upside down! 😂 The walk up in complete darkness at first (at night 🌃) was a bit spooky 👻 but was well rewarded. 🎢💡

Free of cost.. Beautiful scenic view Lovely long walk and cycle paths of around 1.5 km to reach point once u deboard the tram.. Loop is not accessible it is upto a certain point one can go. Best time to visit is during sunset or sunrise.. look good when lights are turned on.

It was free!!! Had a great scenic experience. Would say the best time to go is just before sunset and when there aren't a lot of people (the more people...the more vibration)
Matshepo M — Google review
Nice little place to visit. It’s a 15-20 minute walk up the path before you actually reach the metal walkway structure. It has a nice feel about the place and the views are great.
Tony R — Google review
Simple yet unique and creative sculpture. Amazing integration of history and art. The views were amazing, especially during the sunset. It's definitely a must visit place with kids. There's a slope to reach there, and if you don't like walking around, there's a direct route as well, which is a sort of trek (2 mins). It's free of cost to visit. The nearest grocery store is around 1 km away. Best place to spend some quality time with oneself or with family and friends.

Therme Euskirchen

Thermal baths
Spas & Wellness
Modern thermal spa complex with an outdoor lagoon, saunas & a pool in a palm-lined, glass atrium.
We visited Therme Euskirchen on Saturday and had an amazing time! The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, and the combination of the pools and saunas makes for a perfect day of wellness. The property is very well-maintained, and everything feels clean and inviting. We especially enjoyed the pool area and the variety of saunas. The only downside is that the Aufguss sessions can get a bit crowded, but it’s still worth experiencing. We also ate at the restaurant and tried the Pad Thai and the pizza, both of which were delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and will definitely be coming back for another visit!
Anthony B — Google review
I recently spent a day at Therme Euskirchen, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The complex offers an impressive variety of saunas – from something resembling a hammam to a unique sauna where you can watch koi fish swimming gracefully behind glass, and many others to explore. Each one had its own character and atmosphere, making it a real journey through different wellness traditions. The pools are equally diverse. There’s a swim-up bar with very reasonable prices (and I was delighted to find my favorite banana weizen beer there), a saltwater pool for deep relaxation, and even a smaller pool where calming music plays underwater – a surprisingly magical touch. I felt both refreshed and completely relaxed by the end of the day. A special mention must go to the Amber Orchid restaurant inside the complex. It is truly a fine-dining experience, with excellent cuisine and a refined atmosphere. Our dinner there was a perfect finale to the day. I would particularly like to thank our waiter, Scott K., who provided impeccable service and made us feel genuinely welcome. Overall, Therme Euskirchen is a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for relaxation, variety, and a touch of luxury – all in one spot.
Andrey K — Google review
It would be nice if the website clearly stated that children are not allowed on certain days. That would save people from making a pointless trip. It's understandable that children are not allowed in the sauna. But “Palm Paradise” sounds very tempting to children.
Juliane Z — Google review
We had a great day at the Therme. Unfortunately, my cousin had an accident on the stairs near the immersive sky experience. The stairs there are a dangerous. They don’t have anti slip protection and that is why my niece slipped and fail. There are other stairs near the thermal pools and that one has slip protection. See pictures.

The four of us had a great day at the Therme Euskirchen. We would like to put special emphasis on the food at the restaurant "Amber Orchid". The food was so good that we went to eat there twice that day. If you happen to visit and went some actual good food instead of the usual, be sure to give it a try. Greetings to Scott from the four musketeers.
Marcel S — Google review
I love the therme in Euskirchen. It was my 5th time there. In the week its not too busy. They have a beautiful sauna and a huge garden. My favourite is the koi sauna. For food, swim, sauna und towels you pay a full day 100€.
Natascha S — Google review
I was able to see the exact price only after registering on your website. The price turned out to be almost twice as high as the one shown earlier — €76 for two tickets (one adult and one child) for 4 hours of swimming out of season (only the indoor pool). Could you please explain how your pricing is calculated? The price was very high for us, so we couldn’t visit the spa complex. The children were very disappointed.

Despite it being a charming village within fortress walls, the outlet stores in the city diminish the originality and authentic character. The clash between history and shopping experience was a bit too harsh for my taste. It depends on your point of view ofcourse. Nevertheless there are still beautiful buildings to be seen and you can still get a feeling of what it used to be before 'civilisation' marched in.

Very good ship service. You may take a round trip either from Heimbach or Rursee, which is around 12.45 minutes round trip. On board, you have certain menu options to eat and drink l. Toilets are available with enough seating spaces. The ship remains clean, and the staff is friendly and speaks English as well. There are economic parking places available with payment options by cash or card. The tickets of the ship ride can be bought directly at the counter by cash or card. There are no escalators , and one needs to use either stairs or slope to go down at the dock, which is not a very long distance from the cash counter. There is a restaurant as well as hotel accommodation options available. A lot of walking and hiking spots nearby to explore the town. A road trip by wheeled train motored ride is available as well here to do a small trip through the Heimbach city which people can also do which is good fun as well.

Terrific place for almost every outdoor activity - boating, hiking, swimming, fishing, cycling - or just to walk along the river or even a relaxing ferry ride. A very chilling yet interesting place to visit. It has an amazing view. The site is very big. If you’re into history, then i totally recommend this place. From there you can also start a 4 hour hiking tour that goes around the sea and back to site.

Very interesting place to visit, especially for school classes and other group trips, and nice personal, however me and my friends waited fifteen minutes for the gastronomy to open, when they were supposed to already be open, we had to call the place for them to open the doors and the food was overpriced and tasted bad. My friends and I had waffles with cherries and cream, the cherries tasted like they were already rotten and we could not eat them so it was wasted money.

The place was both shocking (historical aspepct) and mesmerizing. The area is large, you should expect a lot of walk, but it worth. If you are looking for the exact preservation of the national socialist place, you should look elsewhere. This facility was used a lot since then, so lots of modernizations happened, but this did not take out any experience from me. The location is awesome with excellent lookout.

Amazing historical place, although a bit difficult to apprehend without going through the museum. The museum is well thought, focusing on the background for building such a place before going through it (brief) use by the nazis and the impact on the graduates. It really shows the inefficiency of the authoritarian regime, but also the indoctrination and resulting horrors. A great place to visit on a sunny day!

Entrance through an "Ars Figura" exhibition sets the tone for a visit through time. As soon as you enter the nativity scene exhibition, you immediately notice that the authors wanted to impose a theme that sometimes calls out. My two favorites: the blown glass nativity scene and the Colosseum nativity scene. The most challenging: the crib of peace. Exhibition worth the trip.

We have been there 4 times and each walking route is different. You can easily spend a whole day here. The only negative is the many cyclists.
Wen75moors — Google review
It's a great location for a walk in nature. Loads of trails and a wonderful view. I'm looking forward to our next visit. As we enjoy the outdoors and nature. This place had what we expected and more. I recommend it for the entire family and friends.

Lovely place to walk , cycle or take trip with horse carriage. Also the restaurant is quite a nice place with good selection. For kids some adventure play equipment.

Extensive hiking and biking. Interesting geology and natural history. Quiet. Remnants of the 1879 railroad (The Iron Rhine, from Antwerp to Mönchengladbach) and the in 1962 aborted coal mine (State Mine Beatrix). Pleasant cafe at entrance (De Boshut), convenient for its facilities.

Too many people, super high chlorine smell when you go in this place. Asking how many saunas they have: answer one, how many you need 6??? Well i didnt bother to go. Parking is also charged.

I'm a first timer in the Sauna world and Puertorican. Mind that I have a very different culture. But, this place was very nice. Althought at first I had to get over having to strip down to go into the the sauna 4ooms and pools, I ended up feeling very comfortable. There were old people and young people, and everyone seemed quite used to environment. It was a little cold outside and rainy, but that actually was good. The surroundings are very nice outside. It seems to be a place for locals. You don't see any tourists here. The only thing that was a little hard for me was not being able to understand the menu and other signs, as they are only in Dutch and German. Coming with a local helped.

(Translated by Google) A very nice facility with friendly staff. There are plenty of sauna cabins and hourly steam infusions. Pure relaxation. It was nice to see the sauna master's delight when all the guests had put their shoes in the shoe rack in front of the sauna cabin. (Original) Sehr schöne Anlage mit freundlichem Personal. Es gibt ausreichend Saunakabinen und stündliche Aufgüsse. Entspannung pur. Schön zu sehen war die Freude des Saunameisters, als alle Gäste ihre Schuhe in das Schuhregal vor der Saunakabine gestellt hatten.

Cuypershuis, located in Roermond, is a museum dedicated to the life and work of Pierre Cuypers, a renowned Dutch architect from the 19th century. The museum showcases exhibitions about his life and work, housed in a building designed by Cuypers himself. Visitors can explore his former residence and work studio, now transformed into a contemporary museum. It offers insights into Cuypers' architectural sketches and craftsmanship, providing an inspiring experience for architecture enthusiasts.
Affordable 6£ a person. Small place, interesting to explore, relevant to region. It has a gift shop, coffee area, coat room, bathrooms. Great if you want to see a museum quickly. #architecture focused

Very nice and friendly personal. It was very nice to visit at Sunday because it wasn't busy at all. Hopefully they will build an audio or video tour to become more part of what Cuyper build from furniture to whole buildings.

Surprisingly nice and inspiring place to visit when in Roermond! If you like sketches, architecture and the real ambacht. This place you definitely need to visit. Love how they go back to basics from sketch until the real result and they also have some areas where you can practice and learn. Very nice!

You will learn a lot about architecture in the Netherlands in a museum that is made with a lot of thought and effort.

#29Roermond if your a fan of Cuypers then of course you have to come here. Nice little gift shop and a cafe when you enter. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The building is from Cuypers too (1853). I quiet like the Celtic and medieval motifs in his work and thought I'd see more of that which I didn't, but I did learn a lot about the complete works if Cuypers. #railthetrails

The museum tells the story of Pierre Cuypers and his importance for Dutch architecture. Friendly staff, treasure hunt for the little ones. And the building itself is beautiful.

Visiting Roermond, this place seemed like a must go. We've been there, asking how long is the tour. The reception was only willing to sell ticket. It was 30 minutes before the closing time, the tour is more than one hour, we were asking to the reception how long is the tour, and still, the reception only wanted to sell ticket. - How long is the visit ? - Yes, you can visit. - How long is the visit ? - Yes, you can visit, the ticket is... [forgotten price] - Do we have time to see everything ? - If you want to visit, the ticket is.... [forgotten price] This was the conversation during 10 minutes, when suddenly, by somekind of miracle, the reception says that the museum will close very soon, and we'll have no time for everything.... So, let me ask you something. Was it me speaking bad English ? Was the employee speaking bad English ? What's the point of selling a ticket as you know that people will have no time for the complete tour ? Are you scammers ? Because of this, we removed the museum from our to-do list. We also warn people about this place not being 100% honest. If one day, you become 100% honest, maybe we'll come back. Otherwise, good luck with your scam.

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the picturesque region of Stavelot Abbey and Malmedy, the Castle of Reinhardstein is a restored 14th-century gem offering guided tours, medieval dinners, and scenic hiking trails. Visitors can climb the six-meter-high stone steps to reach Belgium's highest point at Signal de Botrange or explore Liege for its architectural wonders like the Prince-Bishops Palace. The castle boasts passionate guides who share historical facts with enthusiasm, making it an engaging experience for history enthusiasts.
One of the prettiest castles I've been to. The decor for Christmas was unlike anything I've ever seen. It's was simply beautiful and eye catching. It made me want to spend the entire day hanging out with people dressed up in medieval attire to having some warm drinks enjoying the overall medieval atmosphere.

A beautiful castle from the 13th century. The guided tour is highly recommended. There are some very interesting relics present. The castle is located in the middle of a forest and is therefore not easily accessible for people with walking difficulties. However, it does provide a nice walk.
Kris B — Google review
Visit to the castle is only possible through guided tours. Tickets for those are bought at the place itself, starting on the hour. Option to have French or Dutch. Our Dutch guide was kind and funny and provided much useful background info about the castle and its history. Only disappointing thing was the “peasant lunch” that we had read about online that you can have in the Tavern. We assumed this was inside the castle, but it was just a wooden cafeteria next to the palace so we opted out of that. Castle is definitely worth a visit.

We had an amazing time at this castle. Be mindful about opening days, it is a bit tricky on their website so we showed up on the day it was closed. Fortunately we could come back the next day. You can only enter the castle with the guided tour, groups are relatively small, a lot of kids. Tour guide is very interactive and gives you an extensive info about the castle history. They got a great souvenir shop so don’t forget to get yourself a little something on the way out. You can also have a bite before or after the tour at their cafe. Definitely recommend for visit.

We visited a lot of fortresses and castles during our journey through Germany, France, Luxembourg and Belgium’s historic landmarks. This location was a highlight and we loved the passion of the guide who brought us insight to the history of this castle.

Excellent place to visit! A very well restaured castle, full of history and very interesting facts linked to its past. The guided visit starts every hour and it takes you outside the castle as well as inside.

Very nice tour and guide! Worth the walk. There is a small bar at the entrance.

Enjoyed the visit very much. It's a place full of history and very beautiful outside and inside. The wait time went by very quickly, as there was ice cream for all the kids. I also recommend visiting the waterfall afterwards, if you don't have a baby stroller with you (the trail is very difficult).

Bad experience with the hotel that cooperates with this agency. Bathroom was nasty and moldy the employees started cleaning up the kitchen at 1 a.m. so there was little to no sleep. After the short stay of only two days I addressed my concerns to the agency. They didn't care because I didn't file the complains while being on the stay, after explaining that it's been only two days in which I was busy the whole time and didn't have time to call them and wait for their solution they offered a small discount on my next trip with that agency which I declined. They also got pictures of the bathroom with the hotel name on it, didn't care. Since it wasn't even cheaper than some random Airbnb + entry fee into Disneyland I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. Even being on a budget there's much better solutions, since they don't care about the quality of your trip they offer nothing at all in comparison to other solutions. Never again.

Severly disappointed. Booked for my 46th Birthday (yesterday). After an early miscarriage due to an accident i wasn't able to with my husband and young daughter. All we wanted was a change in Date. Wonderful museum with an extraordinary collection of German uniforms and equipment, all in very good condition, also lot of US. The collection is exhibited with an eye for detail. Tip for parents: this is not an do-and-experience museum and therefore less suitable for (small) children.

Best historical center (WWII war museum) I have ever seen. Very complete. Pity the movie theater had no airco, this place was damn hot. Enjoy the pictures I took.
Marald B — Google review
Have seen more museums about WWII. Still this is an interesting one, because of an unknown but important confrontation that happened during the Battle of the Bulge, only 200 meters from the location. There are several personal items to be seen and interesting stories to be heard from soldiers involved in this story. For app. 1,5 - 2 hrs one can spend a good time learning about these events and more, being guided by an audio tour.

Best karting I’ve ever been to. First of all it is a very big indoorkarting circuit with great and modern facilities. It all feels very new and is very clean. Also very friendly staff who will help you with all the questions you have! The racing itself is amazing. The rental karts feel very new, they all have timing screens on the steering wheel on wich you can see your laptime, sector time, position in qualifying/race, intervaltime/time to next kart etc. They also feel very good and the brakes and tires are so sick. You can break very late and still have grip. The track is also very well maintained and is a fun and long track. Definitely coming back here.
Ief C — Google review
Awesome place. Great track, very nice and helpfull Team. If you are close to Eupen, pay them a visit!
Stephan S — Google review
Very nice indoor karting that regularly changes their layouts too. Layouts are always very technical, challenging and fun to drive. Karts are very well maintained, they have new ones since October 2024 which are very grippy, good on throttle response and even have a digital display in the steering wheel which shows you laptimes, sector delta's and position. I can only recommend this Karting Experience!
Yannik S — Google review
One of the best carting/event centers in the region. Track layout changes +- 2 years and the new high curve is outstanding. Carts are in very good conditions. They even offer a very good to handle timing app where you can even checkin as groups and tracks all races. Pricing gone up the last years but with some discounts its worth it.
Dirk E — Google review
In general a nice karting track. It is a little bit louder in the hall, due to the construction and the ground. The ground is not that grippy, but still nice to drive. The side fences are modern style ones, that reduce the impacts very good Even the center is made for the masses, the track keeps the essence for pro drivers. The track marshalls (several around the track) have radios and handle everything fast + efficient. Blue and yellow flags are waved as needed But two things that should not happen, happened: On the Kids Kart the belt opened itself 2 times in two different sessions on different karts. Also one time the fuel was entry on the middle of the track. All over we had a good experience there and will be there again.
Dani B — Google review
Fantastic experience even for younger kids. The place was great the food was great (a little pricey), and everything was very well-maintained. We became big fan of go carts. It cost about €20 for an 18 minute race per person. I would recommend getting there an hour before to suit up and go through orientation.
