Pierre-Baudis Japanese Garden, nestled in the heart of Toulouse, offers a serene escape with its meticulously designed landscape. This tranquil oasis celebrates the bond between Toulouse and Kyoto, featuring traditional elements like a tea pavilion, stone lanterns, and a koi pond. Visitors can wander along winding paths, admiring carefully pruned plants and finding moments of zen amidst the urban bustle.
I absolutely loved the Pierre-Baudis Japanese Garden. It’s a beautiful space of silence and contemplation—a true little portal to Japan right in the city. A well-deserved visit for anyone looking to relax and soak in peaceful surroundings. I really enjoyed it!
Sofia C — Google review
The garden is beautiful. Lovely places to sit and different areas to walk near water, fountains, under shade and in the open. Always tonnes of people working on improvements! Lovely vibe!!!!!
Jacqueline K — Google review
Beautiful gardens. Sometimes quite busy but fun to watch everyone posing on the bridge. Other times very quiet and tranquil.
Renee A — Google review
A wonderful gem in Toulouse. The Japanese garden is done wonderfully and has a little Japanese house which explains the design of the garden. There’s a little bridge with fish in the pond. There’s also a raked zen garden. A tranquil place.
Brenda P — Google review
The garden itself is really peaceful and well-kept, with a nice layout that makes it easy to wander around and enjoy the scenery. It didn’t feel too crowded despite being a weekend. Overall, a really pleasant spot to relax for a bit if you’re in the area.
Rui G — Google review
This is a traditional Japanese garden located within Jardin Compans-Caffarelli. Modeled after the gardens of Kyoto, it was created in 1990 and named in honor of Pierre Baudis, the city’s mayor at the time. The garden faithfully recreates key elements of Japanese landscaping, including a red arched bridge, bonsai trees, a sand garden, bamboo groves, stone lanterns, and a koi pond. It offers a serene, exotic retreat within the urban landscape, inviting visitors to enjoy a moment of peace and harmony in the heart of the city.
Seokjin H — Google review
really enjoyed this little garden only small area is actually Japanese. There is a small pond with Koi fish and turtle which is interesting to see. there's a Japanese building on the on the pond which provides shade and some minimal seating. Be careful as some paths are made out of stone and uneven so better in mind if you're going with elderly however most of them are flat.
Ryan — Google review
A really nice garden on the west side of Toulouse near the Canal du Midi. The Japanese gardens are very nice.

Sights & Landmarks
The Couvent des Jacobins is a remarkable Dominican edifice in Toulouse, known for its Gothic architecture and as the final resting place of Saint Thomas Aquinas. The Eglise des Jacobins boasts ornate stained-glass windows, while the Cloitre des Jacobins features graceful russet-brick columns surrounding a green courtyard.
This is one of the more beautiful sites that we visited in Bath - the stained glass windows are lovely! It was free to visit the church itself with only a 5 Euro charge each to visit the adjacent cloister. Both are recommended and can be toured in about an hour.
Ryan S — Google review
The Convent of the Jacobins in Toulouse is a beautiful and peaceful place. The interior is striking, with its elegant brick columns and calm atmosphere. Although the exterior is currently under renovation, it’s still well worth a visit. Built in the 13th century by the Dominican Order, it holds great historical and spiritual significance, especially as the resting place of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
Sofia C — Google review
This is an incredibly beautiful building. It’s worth taking a couple of hours just to enjoy the building aside from anything on display. The exhibitions are incredible and the acoustic for music amazing. The gardens are just so gorgeous. Make sure you allow enough time to visit.
Jacqueline K — Google review
Along with the cathedral, this is a must see in Toulouse. It is five euros for adults to enter, but it is absolutely worth it. With the restoration work that is going on the exterior. The entrance is via the refractory. In here, several of the lunettes have been removed from the walls and are being restored on the ground. The church chapter house and other areas are absolutely fascinating. There are many audiovisual guides which explain some of the amazing architecture and history. It would be very easy to spend an hour to two hours, marveling at this beautiful building.
G M — Google review
The Convent of the Jacobins in Toulouse is simply breathtaking .The brick walls feel warm and grounded, while inside, the soaring palm-shaped vault seems to lift your spirit upward. Being there makes me feel both humbled and inspired — a quiet reminder of beauty, history, and serenity all in one space.
Yash V — Google review
Its beautiful, and interesting to visit inside .. The ticket is reduced if you have a student ID then its 3€
Gauri K — Google review
The couvent amazed me with its main church: a row of giant columns supports the vault and divides the space into two parts. Otherwise, the monastery has a traditional structure with an internal garden with arcades.
Olga I — Google review
The convent is one of the most significant examples of Southern French Gothic architecture and the historical heart of the Jacobins (Dominican Order), founded in Toulouse in the early 13th century. Construction began in 1229 and was completed in the 14th century. The convent played a central role in scholarly, preaching, and missionary activities across medieval Europe. It houses the relics of Saint Thomas Aquinas, the Dominican theologian and philosopher, whose remains were transferred here in the 14th century. The name "Jacobins" comes from the common French nickname for the Dominicans during that time. The church’s interior is renowned for its palm tree–shaped vaulted ceiling, where ribbed vaults fan out from slender columns. ※ Included in the Toulouse Pass Tourisme.

Basilique Saint-Sernin de Toulouse, a medieval basilica located in Toulouse, France, is renowned for housing relics of 128 saints and a thorn believed to be from the Crown of Thorns. This UNESCO-listed site is one of the largest Romanesque churches in Europe. The church's crypt contains an extensive collection of relics donated by Charlemagne to the abbey on this site in the 800s.
The Basilique Saint-Sernin is an unmissable monument in Toulouse. It’s a stunning and well-preserved example of Romanesque architecture, known for its impressive size and beautiful details. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries, it was an important stop for pilgrims on the Way of St. James. Visiting this basilica is a must for anyone interested in history, art, or architecture—it truly captures the spirit of the city.
Sofia C — Google review
It is a nice and clean church, both the exterior and interior are beautiful, it was a pleasure to visit this church during a day trip to Toulouse and a walk around the city center. When we entered the church, young girls and boys were singing religious songs and a good spiritual atmosphere was created. The church was relatively quiet and had the necessary peace. I personally felt very good and I hope you will also have a good experience visiting this church.
Javad A — Google review
The basilica is one of the largest Romanesque-style churches in Europe and a major landmark of Toulouse. Construction began around 1080 and continued through the 13th century. The building reflects a pure Romanesque design with later Gothic additions, combining red brick with pale stone. Its most iconic feature is the 64-meter octagonal bell tower, a defining element of the city’s skyline.
Seokjin H — Google review
This is a truly mind blowing cathedral. It is the largest remaining Romanesque church in the world. Its soaring barrel voltage ceiling gives a sense of space and majesty. There are wonderful statues and some incredible fresco paintings which have survived hundreds of years. I must see when in this city.
G M — Google review
Beautiful architecture. We were lucky that there was a wedding ceremony when we entered so we got to hear the organ play live which was amazing. The entrance is free. Highly recommend a visit.
Cristina H — Google review
A more grandiose cathedral, visible from many parts of the city because of the distinctive tower. The access was limited when we visited because there was a service on.

History Museums
The Ingres Museum is located in a stunning riverside mansion in Montauban, between Toulouse and Bordeaux. It houses an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and drawings by renowned artists such as Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Emile-Antoine Bourdelle. The museum also served as a hiding place for the Mona Lisa during World War II. Visitors can explore opulent rooms and admire the extensive collection of artwork, including portraits, mythological figures, and architectural elements.
I enjoyed our visit today. There is a car park very close to the museum which had spaces for us on market day. The machine to get a parking ticket from is complicated and reacts to key presses very slowly but there is an option to choose English which helps. Counter-intuitively the choice of time for your stay is towards the end of the process. The museum has good toilets opposite the reception office. There are 4 floors and finding how to get into the upper floors was a challenge. The entrances are behind a blank metal door off the stairs. There are no intelligible signs saying "Turn this handle"! But once you get in there is a lot to see. We enjoyed our visit.
John L — Google review
Very interesting museum. More of an art gallery. Some great Boudelle sculptures and a whole series of Venetian School art. Not my taste but interesting in their own right. The building has beautiful ceilings
Susan C — Google review
The recently renovated building is almost as lovely as the collections it holds! A truly impressive and educational collection of a local artist's work. Amazing collection of sketches and models of works that grace both the US and UK national galleries plus many more. The spaces and exhibits for the temporary shows equally impressive. A must visit in Montaubon!
Roger — Google review
It is a beautiful building showcasing some fantastic art. A good mixture of paintings and sculptures, with one room dedicated to the sketches of Ingres. Finished the trip with a visit to the cafe for tea and a pastry.
Ian H — Google review
I loved this museum for the permanent collection of both Ingres and Bourdelle and found the collection interesting and educational.
Michael F — Google review
This museum is very interesting and depicting the correlation between the two artists Ingres and Bourdelle which is very interesting to understand. As well, the museum shows the personal collection of arts and drawings from Ingres which provides a strong perspective on Ingres' creation process.
Fabien D — Google review
Excellent art museum close to the centre of Montauban. It is the first time I have revisited it since the renovations and they seem to have done a very good job. All the exhibits are well displayed too. I particularly enjoyed the basement area in what felt like an old chapel. Many nice displays, some quite amusing. Recommended.

Hi all, before to start to describe this place, think about how little we know about what surrounds us? Very beautiful area and if you order a guide who just an hour or a little more will tell you about the history of all the places and buildings and people who lived in this city you will understand how much surrounds us. I would highly recommend you to visit the city of Montauban.

Great, smaller town square with deep brick arch colonnades, ideal in hit weather. Bars and street food all around, and a fantastic squirting/misting water ' fountain' area for the kids to play in and get wet.

Cité de l'Espace is a futuristic theme park and museum in Toulouse that offers an interactive experience for space enthusiasts of all ages. Visitors can explore exhibits, watch IMAX films, and gaze at the giant Ariane space rocket. The museum also features a playground called the Little Astronaut for kids to enjoy while adults tour the Mir Space station. This space-themed attraction provides an educational and entertaining experience for families, making it a must-visit site in Toulouse.
The exhibition and museum dedicated to space and science is truly a remarkable experience. It features an array of captivating attractions, thrilling rides, and engaging shows that cater to visitors of all ages, making it an ideal destination for families. Nestled within a thoughtfully designed science park, the entire experience is both convenient and immersive. What stands out is the careful attention given to explaining the wonders of the universe. Each display and interactive element invites curiosity and exploration, making complex concepts accessible and fascinating. I was particularly enchanted by the rover exhibition, which offered a hands-on glimpse into Mars exploration, and the breathtaking moon takeoff and landing simulation, which transported me to the very edge of the cosmos. Overall, this exhibition comes highly recommended for anyone eager to expand their knowledge and ignite their imagination!
Dennis W — Google review
Great place. I saw a lot of comments that everything is in French only, well, that's not true, apart from some spectacles, everything is available in French, English and Spanish. However, they could provide some subtitles for the French only parts. I spent there 1 full day, it's enough to see the most important parts and walk through the whole object. If you want to really have full experience and see everything thoroughly, 2 days are recommended. Great place for kids, adults and anyone who loves space exploration. My favorite spectacle was the imax space images. Overall, highly recommended.
Pawel B — Google review
There are lots of shows which are really informative and educational. We loved the Mars Rover one, but the only thing was everything was explained in French so we had to use live translation. The planetarium shows has audio guides in english. Other than above this is a great place to visit for both kids and adults who love space.
Ramyabharathi D — Google review
If you’re in Toulouse and even remotely curious about space, the Cité de l’Espace is a must-visit — especially with kids. I went with my daughter, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences we’ve had together. The IMAX Deep sky show was fantastic. Gazing at the stars in the Planetarium made us feel like we were travelling through the galaxy. The highlight is the Lune Explorer where you get to experience being an astronaut on a mission to Moon. You can literally feel the 2G force!
Yash V — Google review
It's a must see if you are in the area. I would recommend setting a few hours aside if you visit - especially if you want to check out some of the shows on offer. Planetarium and take off simulations are great - the latter does have quite a bit of a wait time however. Translation headphones are available for planetarium - English and Spanish. There's also a restaurant and food trucks, the only thing missing was a coffee truck for some pick me up. Overall spent around 5h and haven't seen everything.
Jakub J — Google review
Love it! Very good place to visit. Full of astronomy, stars, planets, and fun things. Tons of activities to do and see. You would need the whole full day for this. Highly recommended.
Nopphol T — Google review
Nice space oriented museum, from the first rocket into space, to the future. Pitty that there isn't any Dutch, as a neighbour country this would have been nice. (Translating everything for my kids was exhausting 😁) A lot of interactive stuff, friendly staff, children are more than welcome to experiment and try things. But again, only in french.. A lot to discover, you'll need at least a full day if you want to see everything.
Jonathan J — Google review
On a warm summer day, we visited the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse with our children—and what an experience it was! The interactive space museum offers an incredible variety of things to see and do, both indoors and outdoors. Our kids were thrilled to try out the simulators (with almost no waiting lines), where they felt like real space shuttle pilots, tractor drivers, and even captains of a fishing boat. Outside, you can walk among life-size spacecraft and even step inside some of them—something truly unique in Europe. One of the highlights was the panoramic theater, showing an engaging film about the galaxy and our solar system. It's just a pity that much of the content was only in French. For a museum that celebrates European cooperation in space, we had hoped for a bit more multilingual accessibility 😉. We had a great time and, honestly, ran out of time after four hours of exploring. Whether it’s sunny or rainy, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

This is a well organized outlet mall with many stores close by Toulouse. The price reduction is not bad but not on all products. I am missing some luxury and France stores, that I would expect at a France outlet mall. The parking lots are big enough but on a busy day it could be to less.

I enjoyed there, but the clothes there are really not modern at all. You can find some cafeterias to have a drink but there is no restaurant.

Bruniquel Castle

Temporarily Closed
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Bruniquel Castle offers a nice visit with beautiful views of the town and valley. The museum part of the tour may be lacking in information, but the guided audio tour provides valuable insights. The small parking lot by the castle is convenient for visitors, especially those with strollers. For a moderate fee, visitors can explore two well-preserved castles and learn about paleo cave dwellings.
Better than I had expected. This is more than a “double castle site” as it’s a small village that was once upon a time a larger town. It has tumbledown properties in amidst those which have been renovated and it’s very much a lived in village. The ascent from the car park was very manageable for the average person again not as steep as perhaps reviews had led me to believe. There is a very good tourist information office as you enter the village. There is parking at the top of the hill with easy access to the village and castle. There are some restaurants so refreshment is easy.
Deryn H — Google review
What an awesome amazing castle. I took the audio accompaniment in English and if I was to visit again, I would take it again! It is a must if you want to get the most out of your visit. Lovely friendly English speaking ladies on reception who are knowledgeable about the castle. You can tell they really enjoy their job. The castle is in various states of repair. Restoration work has been carried out in most of the rooms that are open & available to the public to see. I appreciated seeing what unrestored parts of the castle looked like too.
Margaret C — Google review
Spectacular setting but you need to stop on the road to the village to get the best photograph as once you reach the castle you are too close and at the wrong angle to photograph it all. It costs €5 to enter and the lady at Reception was extremely helpful, giving us a map and explaining the recommended route. It doesn't take long to see everything, we did it in about 20 minutes. There is a recorded guide available which probably takes longer.
John L — Google review
What a lovely place this is with plenty to do and see. The village is very pretty and the castle is amazing. Well worth a visit
Marie P — Google review
An impressive historical monument since 1840, the building (12th, 13th and 17th centuries) is built at the very top of the cliff overlooking the confluence of the Vère and the Aveyron, on the site of an ancient Roman castrum. Property of the Counts of Toulouse in the 12th century, it was shared in the 15th between two branches of the House of Comminges, which explains the current division into the Château Jeune and the Château Vieux. Also known for having been the filming location for the movie "Le Vieux Fusil" with Romy Schneider and Philippe Noiret ...
Enjoy L — Google review
We had a much better experience than we had expected, based on a review by a local guide. As others have said, the reception staff are very helpful. We were given the choice of the audio guide or a written guidebook. We opted for the latter - which was in English and French - and found it very useful. A wonderful location and two very interesting castles. Rather puzzled about another reviewer’s comment about cobwebs; in a building dating from 12th century, how surprising!
Jeremy P — Google review
Wonderful medieval village and castle definitely worth to make the detour. Nice small cobblestone alleys that lead to the top of the village (relatively steep climb but not very long), where the old (medieval) and the new (16th- 17th) castles are located. In the museum you find the details of the Neanderthaler found here as well as the cave discovered around 1990.
Henri L — Google review
2 Castles side by side located on a cliff 90 metres above the adjacent river. This is a very interesting place to visit with a fascinating history. We spent several hours wandering through the castles and grounds listening to the self guided tour information. Well worth a visit.

Sights & Landmarks
Najac Castle is a medieval fortress situated on a hilltop, offering guided tours and breathtaking views from its towers. Perched 150m above the River Aveyron, the castle's slender towers and crenellated ramparts create a fairy tale-like appearance. The village of Najac, with less than 1,000 inhabitants, provides a picturesque backdrop to the imposing structure.
Wonderful place to visit for a weekend 😍 the castle, streets and the forest are really nice. Looks small but you have too many things to do here. I recommend you to visit. I went by bike and it was really nice.

Fantastic place with incredible views. A bit of a hike but well worth the experience. A beautiful place to visit.

Beautiful town with a castle perched high on an escarpment. Alovely walk from the shop-lined square up to the castle. Climb the circular narrow stairs to the top of the keep for amazing views.
Sally A — Google review
When I was growing up there was a popular saying ‘Bacon and eggs, no thank you I’d rather wash my car’ As I walked around the castle at Najac I recalled this saying and processed to shout ‘I’d rather wash my car’ Surprisingly a man came up to me and said that it was about time
Andrew M — Google review
Interesting historical place. Great for a day out with the village next to it.
Thomas L — Google review
This fortress/castle is one of the most impressive ones you will ever see. It's the location that makes it. Sitting on a - at times steep - hill, you can see it from far away. And when you are walking down on the Rue Du Chateau (coming from the village), then it's just a sight to behold. It's picture-perfect. It goes a good way down from the village....until it goes back up again to reach the castle. It's a fairly short walk - a lot shorter than it might seem. If you have a stroller or a wheelchair it's quite an obstacle though. And the steep stairs and the cobble stones can get pretty slippery, even when it's not raining. So be aware of that and be careful. We didn't go inside the castle - we had our Bulldog with. But the best sight of it isn't up-close anyways...it's on Rue Du Chateau when you walk towards it. A wonderful, pretty and magical fortress. A must-see.
Alex H — Google review
Absolutely stunning, great value too. Well worth a visit if you are nearby. Definitely take the time to climb to the top of the tower!
Mark G — Google review
What a great trip! The hike up was not the easiest stroll, however many places to take a breather and see the views. From inside your can climb to the top- the spiral staircase are narrow, but worth the climb. You can see the town of Najac from each level and the secret passway is really fun. A great time!

Sainte-Cecile Cathedral of Albi

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Sainte-Cecile Cathedral of Albi is a stunning Gothic cathedral dating back to the 13th century, featuring a towering 78-meter-high bell tower and housing remarkable frescoes and painted chapels. Situated on the picturesque banks of the river Tarn in southern France, Albi boasts a rich architectural heritage characterized by the distinctive Languedoc style, with its prominent use of red brick and tiles.
Absolutely gorgeous inside and being built of bricks it’s beautiful and so different outside. Well worth a visit which is free for most areas with a small fee to see the vaults. The ceilings and frescoes are a sight to behold
Marie P — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the southern French gothic style I have ever visited. The outside is very imposing but the inside is crammed with beautiful artwork. It’s said that it is the largest building constructed out of bricks. Close to the building is a beautiful garden and the Toulouse-Lautrec museum.
Alex W — Google review
What can you say about this most imposing yet beautiful of cathedrals? The plain Tolosian pink brick exterior - built as a fortress to intimidate the Cathar supporters - belies the intricate beauty inside where every surface is decorated to a point that you have to just sit down to try and take it all in. And that is what you can do - it is free to enter the eastern half of the cathedral. The western half - similarly decorated but less busy, and one for the fans of impressive sculptures of the time, is a small fee, and also contains the treasures on an upper floor. Not necessary to enjoy the cathedral, but if you like completeness. The choir is stunning though, and reminiscent of York Minster, but taken up a notch. The only hint of this on the outside is the main entrance, whose portico feels like a mini cathedral in itself. If Notre Dame had fallen down before Victor Hugo built it up again, then Quasimodo would have felt very at home here, at least the Disney version anyway… Finally, we have to mention the organ - one of the biggest in France and uniquely decorated with the queues for Heaven and Hell. Very Dutch in form, and something to marvel at. I’m a big fan of European cathedrals, and Albi is in my top three. Not to be missed, if you are at least within 100km of it. The authentic winding streets and high views over the river as you make your way there add to the visual drama.
Gordon D — Google review
Truly magnificent and spectacular church with incredible art and massive fort like structure on the outside that bellies the intricate details artful details on the inside. I didn't pay to see the other half of it but didn't think it was necessary to get a great experience. Must visit if you are around Toulouse.
RV — Google review
Free entry to the impressive Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, the largest brick cathedral in the world, has the feel of a fortress. • 113m long, 35m wide and 30m under the vault •  a 78m high bell tower completed in 1480. • 1282/1493: it took 200 years to build It is also the largest fully painted cathedral in Europe, with 18,500 m² of frescoes and decorations.
Marc S — Google review
The almost complete painting of this large Gothic building is unique, magnificent, and impressive. A must-see, and not just for art historians. And very easy to visit: there's a large parking lot below the hill, and admission is free. Sit in the choir stalls and stay for a while.

A wonderfully set out art museum. We spent over two hours in here. I did not know much about Goya it was a great learning experience. I would like to visit several more times and sit for an hour at a time in certain areas and take my time to actually look at the exhibits. The Musée Toulouse-Lautrec, located in the 13th-century palace Le Palais de la Berbie in Albi, France, houses the world's largest collection of artworks by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The museum offers a comprehensive insight into Lautrec's life and artistic evolution through over a thousand paintings, lithographs, and posters donated by his relatives and close friend Maurice Joyant.
The museum has many of Toulouse Lautrec’s paintings that were donated by three women, one was his mother and there is a portrait of her too in the museum. It’s very interesting to visit and learn about his life and artwork. Take your time. The museum is closing for noon though but you can go in the evening too with the same ticket. Totally recommend it!

Impressive city and a real statement building which houses the works A lot of early career stuff you don't hear about. It s a climb to get there and parking is 'fun ' but the building has lifts too. Go there and spend some time in the city too.
Keith R — Google review
Beautiful experience! The paintings on 3rd lower half were the best from the collection in my opinion. Wasn't a huge fan of that aspect of the museum but it definitely made up for it being able to experience the entire building and all it's gardens.
Hakuna C — Google review
A superb museum presenting the world's most important collection of Toulouse-Lautrec works. At the foot of Albi Cathedral, the Palais de la Berbie majestically overlooks the Tarn River. It was within the walls of this 12th-century building that the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum was established in 1922, bringing together the world's most important collection of this Albi painter. It houses more than 1,000 works, paintings, lithographs and drawings, as well as the 31 posters that made the artist famous. This exceptional collection traces his entire oeuvre, from his early paintings to his final canvas, including his Montmartre years.

Very nice museum, well laid out, and in a beautiful location. I liked that they dedicated some of the space to the history of the building itself and the archeological work that was done to uncover some of its secrets and beauty.
Delphine R — Google review
Worth taking the time to visit. The museum is well done. It was interesting to learn the history of Lautrec and see his work from a budding artist to the end of his life. It was nice the museum provided English translated guide sheets throughout the museum. When you're done make sure to check out the garden in the back.
Laura M — Google review
This museum is located in a former bishops palace, so the building is already nice. But the collection is also surprisingly good because it includes some of this early painting work, as well as that several of his contemporaryies' work. They have a hsndful of Eduard Vuillard paintings for example. It is difficult to get there by car, so park by the market parking lot.
Judith S — Google review
Largest collection of works by Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. Very good display of works from throughout his life. Very good description of works and overview of his life displayed from room to room. Also, some works by his famous instructors and friends. Descriptions in French, English, and Spanish (Castellano). I saw that in each room, there are large laminated card with the descriptions in other languages (German, Occitan, and others). The old building housing the collection itself would be worth visit. The museum store is much more reasonably priced than most. The staff is very kind. They are obviously proud that Lautrec is their home town boy. Really very nice experience.

The Berbie Palace, a stunning medieval edifice perched alongside the Tarn River in Albi, France, is a remarkable blend of history and artistry. Originally constructed as the residence for the Archbishops of Albi starting in 1282, this impressive structure showcases military architectural features that give it a fortress-like appearance. Today, it houses the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum and serves as an important cultural site recognized by UNESCO.
Stunning garden in front of the berbie palace which accommodates Toulouse Lautrec’s museum, no entrance fee, totally recommend a visit! Nice views of the palace and the river too!

Fantastic French-style garden which flourishes at the foot of the majestic Palais de la Berbie. Located in the monument's former parade ground in the 17th century, it owes its existence to the first archbishop of Albi, Hyacinthe Serroni. Listed as a Remarkable Garden since 2010, one usually comes to enjoy its tranquility and its incredible panorama of the right bank of the Tarn, the Pont-Vieux, and the old mills ...
Enjoy L — Google review
Beautifully walled buildings and gardens with great view over the river to the old town and bridges. Free of charge to enter, although the museums inside do charge a small few. Wasn't busy when we went on a Saturday at 2pm. Great restaurants surround the palace although you will pay a premium, 19euro for a burger although many do a plate of the day which is better value. If you take the walk behind the palace down to the river, there appears to be a boat tour but we were tight on time so did not go for a cruise.

Very scenic spot, definitely a must visit. It’s just directly behind the museum next to the cathedral. A personal advice to tourist is that don’t rely googlemap too much you might misunderstand these attractions are separated different spots but in fact they are all a group of historic buildings together. The cathedral, museum, garden, bridge are all together accessible from 1 place.

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful chapel and it is worth a visit just for the richness of the place, it is true that we quickly went around but when we take the time to look more closely and in detail it is worth the price we pay at the reception. (€4 or €5per person). The lady at reception is kind, very knowledgeable and very generous in sharing her knowledge. She advised us after our visit to cross the street and climb a few stairs to have a view of the roof of the chapel and I can tell you that it is worth the 15 steps. We hope to come back soon with friends to share our great experience and the very warm welcome. Absolutely amazing. The private owners have invested an incredible amount of time and money in this beautiful gem, which has been badly damaged in the past. The internal visit of part of the castle is fabulous. The castle is filled with priceless and interesting furniture and decorations. The town of Bournazel is extremely small and quiet, but also interesting. We hope the castle brings more tourists and life to this little town. Definitely worth a visit.

What a wonderful visit we had to the chateau! Visited in August, and had the pleasure of a English language tour from Nick who was so knowledgeable about all aspects of the chateau, its recent restoration, and all of many the historical items/artworks. Nick was super engaging, and left with a smile on our faces more knowledge about not just the chateau, but the history of the wider averon region too. The chateau itself was also amazing; you could really see the work that had been put in to create what stands today. We also noted how spotless and well maintained all of interiors were; a far cry for some of the slightly neglected castles we've visited in England! This really is a well loved space, so a big thank you to all the staff who must put in so much work to keep it so beautiful.
Rowan D — Google review
We had an English speaking tour and the guide, Nick was fantastic. So knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the building, restoration project and many of the historical artifacts around the building. We went with 4 children aged 9 to 15 and all were engaged the entire time. I'd recommend paying the extra few Euros to go up the tower too.

It costs 12 Eur. You have to enter with a guide and big group. Guide doesn’t speak English and does not care about guests who are not French. You can not leave group and have to stand in each room and listen to lectures in French. Even French people seemes bored. Recommend to choose other castles.

A huge amount of effort has been put into renovating the house and gardens. No doubt improvements will continue. Unfortunately the tour guide did not speak English and there is no audio assistance. A fantastic fortified castle on the Route des Seigneurs du Rouergue in Aveyron, overlooking its medieval village, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Standing proud with its towers and fortified walls, the castle dominates the Tarn Valley, between Albi and Millau. Perched on a rock, the Château occupies an elongated platform resembling the prow of a ship, where the waters of the Tarn and Alrance rivers mingle. The castle, overlooking the Tarn Valley, has preserved its fortified walls and a large part of its patrol path. It belonged to the Counts of Rouergue and then to the powerful Arpajon family from the 13th to the 17th century. Things to see in the castle : the prisoner's tower, the Princess's tower, the seigneurial lodgings, the officers' lodgings ... And in this amazing and so authentic village, you can also visit the 15th century Church of St Jacques le Majeur, a few kilometers away the oratory of St Martin awaits you as well as the Church of St Cyrice which will offer you a magnificent panoramic view of the Tarn !

We took lots of photos, even some from way back on the road bridge which offered the best overall view including the setting on the confluence of two rivers. An excellently preserved historic monument which is well worth the visit. Recommended😃

Specialty Museums
The Musée Soulages in Rodez, Aveyron, is a modern art museum showcasing the works of renowned artist Pierre Soulages. The museum's impressive contemporary architecture blends seamlessly with its surroundings. It houses a collection of paintings, etchings, and prints by Soulages, as well as temporary exhibitions featuring artists like Picasso.
Very interesting place to visit, quite an insight into an unpretentious artist. Someone I didn’t know much about. Simple style of painting, the lighting effect alters them depending where you stand & his other forms of creativity. I will visit again and spend more time in there. A couple of photos of my fave pieces. There are also some fantastic photos on view too. A lovely building of corten steel, unobtrusive.

Had to see the works donated by a son of the soil. No wonder he loved his hometown so much; it’s beautiful here!
Trini G — Google review
Nice exposition, small enough for kids, big enough to learn interesting details of soulages’s life and art
Laura G — Google review
Beautiful museum and stunning permanent exhibition. The audio guide that costs 4 euros is woefully inadequate. Whilst the information is good, it is really difficult to follow as the displays are not in an obvious order so not easy to follow the works chronologically. Also out of date and the commentary speaks of M. Soulage in the present tense.
Sarah E — Google review
One of the most beautiful museums I have seen. The architecture has an exceptional harmony with the pictures of Soulages!!!
Markus F — Google review
Impressive building. Very black art. But it touched me
Thomas L — Google review
Amazing museum, very unique. The art is really spectacular, especially the etchings and the "outrenoir" pieces when viewed from different angles. The explanatory texts are easy to understand, give sufficient detail to appreciate Pierre Soulages' techniques and the progression in his art. The room dedicated to his stained glass windows made for the Abbey in Conques is particularly fascinating. Highly recommended!
Steven L — Google review
A must see Museum if you are in Rodez and like contemporary art. Pierre Soulages has lately designed the glass for St Faiths Abbey in Conques-en-Rouergue. So you can see how he designed them and then visit to see them in place.

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de l'Assomption de Rodez

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de l'Assomption de Rodez is a monumental Gothic sandstone cathedral that was completely rebuilt in 1276. It is known for its impressive blend of Gothic finesse and military might, with an 87-meter bell tower. The western facade is unique, as it is completely closed off by a sheer wall of stone due to the cathedral's position on Rodez's western city wall.
Beautiful cathedral with a lot to see inside. Not too busy.
Mark H — Google review
Very impressive cathedral. The organ has an amazing sound. We were lucky to participate in the concert. I enjoyed the moment.
Fulvio F — Google review
We had a guided tour of the main points of this cathedral, which whilst we are not really churchy people we found it really interesting particularly some of the modern stained glass windows. What was really amazing was the fact that there were no entrance guards with donation boxes, no admission fee and no exit via the gift shop, which seems to be so prevalent these days. So basically you could wander and absorb the atmosphere with no external pressure. A good visit and recommended.

Nice red granitic stones. Old cathedral
B B — Google review
A powerful building, the symbol of Rodez. Purists will love the sturdy Romanesque (we'd call it Norman) structure and the very creative Gothic and later embellishments. Still a vibrant place, the modern stained glass windows are very interesting. Keep in mind, it's not a theme park, it's a place of worship. With the fabulous food of the Aveyron, this place and the Musees Soulages and Fenaille, Rodez is a great place to spend a few days.

Beautiful and impressive, especially the new windows.

A beautiful church marred by the grotesque stained glass “art” installations in several of the windows. The architecture and most of the windows are awe inspiring and reverent. Shame on the artist and shame on the clergy who commissioned him to vandalize God’s house.

Archaeological museum
Museums
Musée Fenaille, located in the former 16th-century Hotel de Jouery, offers a comprehensive journey through the history of the Rouergue region from prehistoric times to the 17th century. The museum showcases archaeology, art, and local history, featuring artifacts dating back 300,000 years. Its main focus is on sculpture, with its most famous exhibits being the 5,000-year-old menhir carved stones - Europe's oldest monumental statues.
The best kept secret in Rodez. This place has all you needs to learn of history of ancient Rouergue (the region of modern Rodez) through most era and even before man came to give a name to all the animals (as per Bob Dylan). Sometimes you may also be treated (like we were) to browse the installations of a temporary expo. We were highly interested by the exhibition about ancient statues of Ethiopia. Really recommended to spend some time in this very interesting museum which can be visited with no fee if you pay a ticket for Musée Pierre Soulages (alternatively you will enter the latter for free if you pay your 12€ visitor fee at Musée Fenaille) .

Very intersting museum located inside an old mansion. The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable. Our daughter (and us) enjoyed the visit.
Karine E — Google review
A very good little museum in the heart of Rodez. The museum is based in an ancient town house that has been converted and modern architecture applied to it, it works very well. The museum charts the history of the area from prehistoric times, and houses local carved standing stones (see pics). Very nicely presented with descriptions in English for a lot of the exhibits. Entry was 11 € for adults. Should anyone from the museum read this review, please note the coin (see photos) is described as English but it isn't! Thanks.

Very interesting museum with beautiful pieces from the Antiquity, Middle Ages and Renaissance found in the Rodez area, especially the amazing collection of menhir statues. The museum has a modern feel and is set in a beautiful ancient typical house. A must-see in Rodez.

Small, but very interesting museum. Clearly not aimed at the foreign visitor. Explanation notes are mostly only in French, and the few explanations in English are not well written. I would recommend a QR code linked to each exhibit with a link to a translation in a selection of languages. Despite the linguistics, we enjoyed our visit here.

Nestled in a picturesque setting, the Château de Calmont d'Olt offers an enchanting journey back to the Middle Ages. Here, children can immerse themselves in the world of knights while knowledgeable experts showcase fascinating medieval warfare machines like trebuchets and cannons. The experience is made even more delightful by the warm welcome from staff members who engage visitors of all ages, especially kids.
Calmont d'Olt is a dilapidated castle in a very scenic place. Ideal for visiting with a large group.

It was great to have some entertainement, jousting, catapult and old fashioned canon demonstration, the castle wasn't that interesting, althoughthere are nice views from the top.

My family, 3 adults from UK and HK, really had a very unexpected enjoyable and happy visit today !! Gaelle and Clement gave us a very warm welcome and briefing at the reception. We had to express our special appreciation to Gaelle as she was so professional and high dedication to present the archery demonstration!! Even though there was strong sunshine, few visitors today and we are not French speakers, she still worked very hard to explain in English! We were so enjoying and had fun during the archery practice session held by Gaelle xx Merci xx

The driveway up to the château is barely one lane and lots of blind turns. There is a 200m uphill walk to the entrance. It is very quiet and a nice stop - the entire castle can be seen in an hour. Roquefort Société

Tours
Roquefort Société is a must-visit destination for cheese enthusiasts. Located just 10 minutes from the A25, this site offers an insightful tour of the caves where the famous Roquefort cheese is aged. The guided tour provides a detailed explanation of the cheese-making process and showcases the impressive tunnels where the cheese matures. While primarily conducted in French, English-speaking visitors can request printed English versions and receive assistance from bilingual guides.
Spectacular to walk around the caves and to see row after row of Roquefort cheeses. Our tour was French and a bit too fast for us to understand much but the guide told us to ask her in English afterwards. We also received a text in English explaining what she talked about. Also there was a film with English subtitles. The tasting afterwards allowed us to taste the difference between the three types of Roquefort cheese, mainly differing in strength and creaminess. We bought some together with a freeze pack to allow us to bring it in the car and to the hotel.
Claes H — Google review
Interesting to see the ancient caves however the only cheese making you will see is in the marketing video you watch at the beginning of the tour. I was looking forward to seeing cheese at different stages of production and ageing. You may possibly see a few cheeses in one of the rooms near the end of the tour. When you do reach the end other the tour you get to taste three cheeses. The shop sells cheese at quite infatuated prices and some expensive souvenirs are available. There is an exhibition of historical photos that are quite interesting too. The old souvenirs that are on display in a glass cabinet look far far better quality than there modern counterparts, its a shame they don't sell reproductions. In conclusion "Où est le fromage?"
John O — Google review
SUPERB visit to the ROQUFORT SOCIETE caves where the king of cheeses originated. Tasting all four varieties is highly recommended. The restaurant is excellent. Loved the roquefort ice cream on the salad!
Ligia — Google review
Just visited, 7.50e. If you are English and dont speak French, you are given a piece of paper with information on. When the guide is speaking it is dark so you cannot read. A head set would be far better for none French-speaking guests. The caves were different but stopping and starting having no idea what was said was a complete waste of time and money. We travelled 5 1/2 hours to specifically listen to the wonderful story of how this tasty cheese is made. I have never made a review in my life this is how dissatisfied and disappointed I am.
Kim P — Google review
Fantastic tour! The guide spoke both in French and English. The caves are amazing. Wear a jacket.
Mark T — Google review
A paid visit to walk the caverns. Tour guide provided, but there is no English language guide, exclusively French. I guess that's the fault of none French speaking English folk. For English, and I guess every other nationality you are given a printed sheet and follow the guide into the darkness, not sure how you read the text. The caves themselves are fascinating, the work done in them is amazing, but the tour was such a disappointment. If they offered headsets and codes to pick up the tour story that would be so much better, would not recommend it as a must do.
Steven P — Google review
Tops! Best cheese, best caves. Our tour guide was wonderful and it was incredible to see the chilly caves and the wheels of cheese.

The Millau Viaduct Viewing Point offers a unique perspective of the city, with its labyrinth of streets and meandering bends of the Tarn River. It's just over an hour's drive from Montpellier and provides picture-perfect views of Millau and the famous viaduct. The visitor center at the North end is worth a visit, offering guided tours and an opportunity to see the bridge from underneath.
This viaduct is one of a kind. 2,4 km long and 343m in the highest point. Sometimes is surrounded by clouds and you can make amazing shoots with your camera.

Some visit the Eiffel Tower in Paris, others visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa, others Dubai, but there is an underrated place where there are incredible views and all kinds of outdoor activities from downhill to hiking, and it is nothing more and nothing less than the Millau Viaduct. It has a height of 300m and a length of 2000m, it is one of the highest bridges in the world (it appeared in the movie Mr. Bean's Holiday).
Ibra Z — Google review
Nice to see the tallest bridge -336,4m- in the world. The best part is that you can see it from underneath. This gives you the best view of how tall it is. Absolutely amazing. There is also the possibility to have a guided tour.
Suzana R — Google review
A truly magnificent place. The drive from Montpellier is just over 1 hour. You don’t need to do the u-turn like google says, just past the bridge going north there is an exit to the visitor center. We recommend arriving early and walking the trail for picture perfect views of Millau, the bridge, and the visitor center. No food onsite, but bring a lunch or snack and enjoy at picnic tables with an amazing view.
Magda B — Google review
If you like bridges then this one is for you. We drove over 2000 Kilometers to get to this bridge and it was well worth the time. I could stand and look at it all day. It reminds me of a professional athlete: disciplined, great shape, and strong. I think its sexy looking.

Excellent indoor museum, very well designed. Exterior walk and displays have lost a bit of their original splendour and need a reimagining. The hillside had practically no shade trees and on such a hot day it was getting difficult for us after a while. Overall a great museum for the whole family.

A very fun attraction for the whole family!beautiful scenery, and what a blast to cruise through the old railway tunnels with the wind in your hair! All the employees were nice and competent. And even though we don't understand french, they took their time to help us in english.

Much much better than expected! We cycled the 4km back and forth. Beautiful landscape, both next to the track and the marvelous views. The cycling required no effort at all with the electric assistance. The cycle seats were comfortable.

We did the Orchidées trip, very easy downhill and with stunning views, A dog friendly attraction, which is nice. Keep well away from the cars in front and behind, as two in front of us got way too close to each other at one point, and they ignored instructions not to stop anywhere, which is a bad idea generally. Keep moving, be sensible, and you'll love it! Nice crepes at the cafe on the other end too, recommend the local honey one.

I love the concept of Velorail. I think it's such a smart way to repurpose old train tracks that are not serving a purpose. I went to this specific one eight years ago with my daughter who was 3 years old and it just went back two weeks ago with all three kids this time. The whole family had a great time! We did the Orchid trail. This particular velorail has a wonderful view and goes through four tunnels. It also has a stop at an old train station which has been repurpose into a little cafe. And then there's a train back to the original start location. It's a super easy, fun activity to do with people of all ages. We highly recommend it!

What a quirky, fun, family activity. If you're up for a more physical adventure, do the Grand Voyage, which requires you to pedal up 4 km before coasting 12 km downhill. You go through multiple tunnels and see beautiful countryside.
