(Translated by Google) Very beautiful farm to discover, an authentic place where you can still hear passionate professionals, invested and keen to do so well, with a lot of humility and simplicity. Moments of sharing and pedagogy, in the discovery of this life of donkeys and donkeys. Adults and children won over by this fabulous encounter with these equines... Milking, then tasting the fresh milk collected :). Despite the cold and the rain, the homemade snack also warmed us up. The discovery of products made from donkey milk was a final nice surprise during this visit.

(Translated by Google) We loved our visit two years ago, but were unable to take advantage of the guided tour. So we came back this year, the visit started at 3:00 p.m., the boss gave us a lot of explanations on how the farm works, the gestation of the donkeys, etc. Participation in the milking of a donkey, and tasting of fresh milk. Little snack break with farm products (the mint-flavored donkey milk ice cream is sooo good) A moment filled with tenderness with the donkeys. Another visit that transported us! And to complete this day, I leave with donkey milk cosmetics purchased in their little shop. The owners gave us zucchini from their vegetable garden, a box available to visitors reflecting the sharing and generosity of this place!

(Translated by Google) 2-night rental for business in this magical place. A very pleasant welcome from the owner, the accommodation very well-appointed (both furniture and kitchen utensils). I was alone and had plenty of space! Stayed in the 11-bed dormitory (sheets and pillows provided, very comfortable bedding), access to the kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and coffee provided, refrigerator). A no-frills accommodation but with incredible soul, charm, and character! You feel zen both inside and out. The setting is magnificent, with the donkeys at the foot of the accommodation; everything exudes serenity in this place. I'm delighted to have stumbled upon this place; its tranquility allowed me to pass my exams. If you're looking for a peaceful place, in the countryside but 10 minutes from L'Isle Jourdain, a place to organize a wedding or any other celebration, L'Asinerie is THE place for you! I really loved it! (Original) Location de 2 nuits pour raison professionnelle dans ce lieu magique. Animaparc

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Animaparc is a charming park located in the countryside, offering a perfect day out for families with kids. The park features a variety of attractions suitable for both children and adults, including rides ideal for kids aged 2-8 and even up to 11 years old. Visitors appreciated the cleanliness of the facilities, such as the well-maintained toilets equipped with baby changing spaces. Despite some attractions being closed for reopening, visitors enjoyed minimal queues and ample opportunities for entertainment.
We visited Animaparc on Monday, February 24, 2025, with our two daughters (7 and 9 years old), and it was absolutely perfect for them! The park has a great selection of attractions designed for younger kids, and the best part—there were no queues at all. There’s a charming retro vibe to the place, almost like stepping back into the ‘80s, which made it feel cozy and nostalgic. Everything worked well, and we had a blast exploring the rides and activities. Another pleasant surprise was the pricing of food and beverages inside the park—it was reasonable and not overpriced, which is rare for amusement parks. I’d highly recommend Animaparc for families with children under 12 or 13 years old. It’s a great place for a fun, stress-free day!

Loved it. Excellent. Would come back every weekend. Plenty of rides for a 1 year old. The dinosaurs aren’t that scary. Would recommend.

A small animal park with lots of different playoptions for small children. My grand son (4) enjoyed it for >3 hours
Pez B — Google review
Good for kids. It's a bit too easy/boring for teenagers but not too bad. I would say until 13yo it's good. There is a good mix of nature exploration (farm/dinosaurs) and rides but don't expect anything close to the quality you would get in a jet coaster specialist.
Colin M — Google review
Great for little kids, Never any lineups for rides, entire park is shaded (except parking) my kids love it !
Lisa S — Google review
Great weather today. Several attractions were closed due to reopening this month but regardless we were able to have fun and visit the entire park. Perfect time to take the kids to the park as there were barely anyone there and no queues. Very charming park in the middle of the countryside, very welcoming, top team, great entertainment, the toilets were clean + In the toilets there is a space for changing babies, the attractions are perfect for children and adults alike ! We will surely come back ! Thank you !

Great theme park good family day out we ran out of time in the end so you will need a full day here or even a second visit. The rides are great for children between the ages of 4 and 10 there is no much for children over this age.

Pierre-Baudis Japanese Garden, nestled in the heart of Toulouse, offers a serene escape with its meticulously designed landscape. This tranquil oasis celebrates the bond between Toulouse and Kyoto, featuring traditional elements like a tea pavilion, stone lanterns, and a koi pond. Visitors can wander along winding paths, admiring carefully pruned plants and finding moments of zen amidst the urban bustle.
I absolutely loved the Pierre-Baudis Japanese Garden. It’s a beautiful space of silence and contemplation—a true little portal to Japan right in the city. A well-deserved visit for anyone looking to relax and soak in peaceful surroundings. I really enjoyed it!
Sofia C — Google review
The garden is beautiful. Lovely places to sit and different areas to walk near water, fountains, under shade and in the open. Always tonnes of people working on improvements! Lovely vibe!!!!!
Jacqueline K — Google review
Beautiful gardens. Sometimes quite busy but fun to watch everyone posing on the bridge. Other times very quiet and tranquil.
Renee A — Google review
A wonderful gem in Toulouse. The Japanese garden is done wonderfully and has a little Japanese house which explains the design of the garden. There’s a little bridge with fish in the pond. There’s also a raked zen garden. A tranquil place.
Brenda P — Google review
The garden itself is really peaceful and well-kept, with a nice layout that makes it easy to wander around and enjoy the scenery. It didn’t feel too crowded despite being a weekend. Overall, a really pleasant spot to relax for a bit if you’re in the area.
Rui G — Google review
This is a traditional Japanese garden located within Jardin Compans-Caffarelli. Modeled after the gardens of Kyoto, it was created in 1990 and named in honor of Pierre Baudis, the city’s mayor at the time. The garden faithfully recreates key elements of Japanese landscaping, including a red arched bridge, bonsai trees, a sand garden, bamboo groves, stone lanterns, and a koi pond. It offers a serene, exotic retreat within the urban landscape, inviting visitors to enjoy a moment of peace and harmony in the heart of the city.
Seokjin H — Google review
really enjoyed this little garden only small area is actually Japanese. There is a small pond with Koi fish and turtle which is interesting to see. there's a Japanese building on the on the pond which provides shade and some minimal seating. Be careful as some paths are made out of stone and uneven so better in mind if you're going with elderly however most of them are flat.

Couvent des Jacobins

Church
Sights & Landmarks
The Couvent des Jacobins is a remarkable Dominican edifice in Toulouse, known for its Gothic architecture and as the final resting place of Saint Thomas Aquinas. The Eglise des Jacobins boasts ornate stained-glass windows, while the Cloitre des Jacobins features graceful russet-brick columns surrounding a green courtyard.
This is one of the more beautiful sites that we visited in Bath - the stained glass windows are lovely! It was free to visit the church itself with only a 5 Euro charge each to visit the adjacent cloister. Both are recommended and can be toured in about an hour.
Ryan S — Google review
The Convent of the Jacobins in Toulouse is a beautiful and peaceful place. The interior is striking, with its elegant brick columns and calm atmosphere. Although the exterior is currently under renovation, it’s still well worth a visit. Built in the 13th century by the Dominican Order, it holds great historical and spiritual significance, especially as the resting place of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
Sofia C — Google review
This is an incredibly beautiful building. It’s worth taking a couple of hours just to enjoy the building aside from anything on display. The exhibitions are incredible and the acoustic for music amazing. The gardens are just so gorgeous. Make sure you allow enough time to visit.
Jacqueline K — Google review
Along with the cathedral, this is a must see in Toulouse. It is five euros for adults to enter, but it is absolutely worth it. With the restoration work that is going on the exterior. The entrance is via the refractory. In here, several of the lunettes have been removed from the walls and are being restored on the ground. The church chapter house and other areas are absolutely fascinating. There are many audiovisual guides which explain some of the amazing architecture and history. It would be very easy to spend an hour to two hours, marveling at this beautiful building.
G M — Google review
The Convent of the Jacobins in Toulouse is simply breathtaking .The brick walls feel warm and grounded, while inside, the soaring palm-shaped vault seems to lift your spirit upward. Being there makes me feel both humbled and inspired — a quiet reminder of beauty, history, and serenity all in one space.
Yash V — Google review
Its beautiful, and interesting to visit inside .. The ticket is reduced if you have a student ID then its 3€
Gauri K — Google review
The couvent amazed me with its main church: a row of giant columns supports the vault and divides the space into two parts. Otherwise, the monastery has a traditional structure with an internal garden with arcades.
Olga I — Google review
The convent is one of the most significant examples of Southern French Gothic architecture and the historical heart of the Jacobins (Dominican Order), founded in Toulouse in the early 13th century. Construction began in 1229 and was completed in the 14th century. The convent played a central role in scholarly, preaching, and missionary activities across medieval Europe. It houses the relics of Saint Thomas Aquinas, the Dominican theologian and philosopher, whose remains were transferred here in the 14th century. The name "Jacobins" comes from the common French nickname for the Dominicans during that time. The church’s interior is renowned for its palm tree–shaped vaulted ceiling, where ribbed vaults fan out from slender columns. ※ Included in the Toulouse Pass Tourisme.

Basilique Saint-Sernin de Toulouse, a medieval basilica located in Toulouse, France, is renowned for housing relics of 128 saints and a thorn believed to be from the Crown of Thorns. This UNESCO-listed site is one of the largest Romanesque churches in Europe. The church's crypt contains an extensive collection of relics donated by Charlemagne to the abbey on this site in the 800s.
The Basilique Saint-Sernin is an unmissable monument in Toulouse. It’s a stunning and well-preserved example of Romanesque architecture, known for its impressive size and beautiful details. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries, it was an important stop for pilgrims on the Way of St. James. Visiting this basilica is a must for anyone interested in history, art, or architecture—it truly captures the spirit of the city.
Sofia C — Google review
It is a nice and clean church, both the exterior and interior are beautiful, it was a pleasure to visit this church during a day trip to Toulouse and a walk around the city center. When we entered the church, young girls and boys were singing religious songs and a good spiritual atmosphere was created. The church was relatively quiet and had the necessary peace. I personally felt very good and I hope you will also have a good experience visiting this church.
Javad A — Google review
The basilica is one of the largest Romanesque-style churches in Europe and a major landmark of Toulouse. Construction began around 1080 and continued through the 13th century. The building reflects a pure Romanesque design with later Gothic additions, combining red brick with pale stone. Its most iconic feature is the 64-meter octagonal bell tower, a defining element of the city’s skyline.
Seokjin H — Google review
This is a truly mind blowing cathedral. It is the largest remaining Romanesque church in the world. Its soaring barrel voltage ceiling gives a sense of space and majesty. There are wonderful statues and some incredible fresco paintings which have survived hundreds of years. I must see when in this city.
G M — Google review
Beautiful architecture. We were lucky that there was a wedding ceremony when we entered so we got to hear the organ play live which was amazing. The entrance is free. Highly recommend a visit.
Cristina H — Google review
A more grandiose cathedral, visible from many parts of the city because of the distinctive tower. The access was limited when we visited because there was a service on.
Laurie M — Google review

Toulouse is a city with a rich musical heritage, offering a diverse range of music experiences. The Théâtre du Capitole stands as an iconic landmark in the city, housing both the town hall and the opera house behind its pink neoclassical facade. The venue hosts classical music performances and operas, making it a must-visit for music enthusiasts.
A great place in Toulouse center (Place du Capitole) that offers ballet and opera shows of great quality. Tickets need to be purchased in advance, most of the shows are sold out quickly.
Emilia P — Google review
This is a wonderful and endment Theatre. It has a modern foyer and has been beautifully painted inside. I was fortunate enough to see the Capitole Oper ballet company in a tribute to Maurice Ravel. They were accompanied by the opera Orchestra and it was a wonderful show. Then to be sea of the theater means that the sound is wonderful. I was in the back of a side loge quite high, but if I still could see this stage without an issue. I got an H euro ticket by lining up one hour prior to the performance, which is when returns are re-sold.

Really amazing experience to watch ballet
Tulio L — Google review
The performances are AMAZING, staff are lovely and super helpful. The super high up seats at Paradise have indeed reduced visibility but it's acceptable (I didn't even realized they were at first), at the front-er seats the quality is perfect. I was very impressed with the mise en scène of Nabucco by Verdi and Norma by Bellini. This theater's interpretation of Orphée aux Enfers also has a nice touch of humour and a unique variation in the final part of Act 1. The ballet performances are nice. I'd keep updating in the future cause you just have to come back here! (I painted a scene in their Norma 2025 out of my impression)
Minh N — Google review
Stunning theatre. Today's performance of Rusalka was epic. The building has excellent acoustics and if all the performances are as good as this, I'd be there every week if I lived here.

Great experience! Very emotional show after years of not going to the Opera. The Ballet team of the Capitole are great and the different directors have added their true spirit to Chopin and Mozart. Museums
Cité de l'Espace is a futuristic theme park and museum in Toulouse that offers an interactive experience for space enthusiasts of all ages. Visitors can explore exhibits, watch IMAX films, and gaze at the giant Ariane space rocket. The museum also features a playground called the Little Astronaut for kids to enjoy while adults tour the Mir Space station. This space-themed attraction provides an educational and entertaining experience for families, making it a must-visit site in Toulouse.
The exhibition and museum dedicated to space and science is truly a remarkable experience. It features an array of captivating attractions, thrilling rides, and engaging shows that cater to visitors of all ages, making it an ideal destination for families. Nestled within a thoughtfully designed science park, the entire experience is both convenient and immersive. What stands out is the careful attention given to explaining the wonders of the universe. Each display and interactive element invites curiosity and exploration, making complex concepts accessible and fascinating. I was particularly enchanted by the rover exhibition, which offered a hands-on glimpse into Mars exploration, and the breathtaking moon takeoff and landing simulation, which transported me to the very edge of the cosmos. Overall, this exhibition comes highly recommended for anyone eager to expand their knowledge and ignite their imagination!

Great place. I saw a lot of comments that everything is in French only, well, that's not true, apart from some spectacles, everything is available in French, English and Spanish. However, they could provide some subtitles for the French only parts. I spent there 1 full day, it's enough to see the most important parts and walk through the whole object. If you want to really have full experience and see everything thoroughly, 2 days are recommended. Great place for kids, adults and anyone who loves space exploration. My favorite spectacle was the imax space images. Overall, highly recommended.
Pawel B — Google review
There are lots of shows which are really informative and educational. We loved the Mars Rover one, but the only thing was everything was explained in French so we had to use live translation. The planetarium shows has audio guides in english. Other than above this is a great place to visit for both kids and adults who love space.
Ramyabharathi D — Google review
This is Europe’s largest space and astronomy-themed park, opened in 1997 in Toulouse — a major hub of the European aerospace industry (home to EADS Astrium, Airbus, etc.). This science and education complex features full-scale replicas of the Ariane 5 rocket, Mir space station, and various satellites, as well as interactive exhibits, planetariums, a 3D IMAX theater, and space simulators. Designed for both children and adults, the park offers hands-on experiences and educational workshops that explore the past, present, and future of space exploration. Visitors are recommended to spend at least half a day, with 1-day and 2-day tickets available. On-site accommodation is also available.
Seokjin H — Google review
Great time. We went on a Tuesday in September so it was very quiet and we got to do all we wanted in a day. Highly recommend the Lunexplorer and the Mars robot exhibition
P M — Google review
If you’re in Toulouse and even remotely curious about space, the Cité de l’Espace is a must-visit — especially with kids. I went with my daughter, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences we’ve had together. The IMAX Deep sky show was fantastic. Gazing at the stars in the Planetarium made us feel like we were travelling through the galaxy. The highlight is the Lune Explorer where you get to experience being an astronaut on a mission to Moon. You can literally feel the 2G force!
Yash V — Google review
It's a must see if you are in the area. I would recommend setting a few hours aside if you visit - especially if you want to check out some of the shows on offer. Planetarium and take off simulations are great - the latter does have quite a bit of a wait time however. Translation headphones are available for planetarium - English and Spanish. There's also a restaurant and food trucks, the only thing missing was a coffee truck for some pick me up. Overall spent around 5h and haven't seen everything.

A favorite place to visit. A colony of storks, lots of water birds, donkeys, small farmbird walk, old farm machinery shed and a lovely walk along the river that's accessed from behind the restaurant. Hides to view the birds from. Don't forget your binoculars to get a closer look.

This is a lovely place to walk around to see wildlife.... not very busy. But when I came across some of the birds they were in small confined spaces it wasn't nice to see. There was a peacock there that didn't look in the best of health in the most ridiculous tiny space.... all his tail feathers were gone. I love nature and this is a nature reserve so I didn't understand why certain animal... birds were confined like prisoner's.

Beautiful bucolic spot in the middle of nowhere. White Storks were nesting with the young, feeding them constantly. Magical spot if you’re into nature.

History Museums
The Ingres Museum is located in a stunning riverside mansion in Montauban, between Toulouse and Bordeaux. It houses an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and drawings by renowned artists such as Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Emile-Antoine Bourdelle. The museum also served as a hiding place for the Mona Lisa during World War II. Visitors can explore opulent rooms and admire the extensive collection of artwork, including portraits, mythological figures, and architectural elements.
I enjoyed our visit today. There is a car park very close to the museum which had spaces for us on market day. The machine to get a parking ticket from is complicated and reacts to key presses very slowly but there is an option to choose English which helps. Counter-intuitively the choice of time for your stay is towards the end of the process. The museum has good toilets opposite the reception office. There are 4 floors and finding how to get into the upper floors was a challenge. The entrances are behind a blank metal door off the stairs. There are no intelligible signs saying "Turn this handle"! But once you get in there is a lot to see. We enjoyed our visit.

Very interesting museum. More of an art gallery. Some great Boudelle sculptures and a whole series of Venetian School art. Not my taste but interesting in their own right. The building has beautiful ceilings
Susan C — Google review
The recently renovated building is almost as lovely as the collections it holds! A truly impressive and educational collection of a local artist's work. Amazing collection of sketches and models of works that grace both the US and UK national galleries plus many more. The spaces and exhibits for the temporary shows equally impressive. A must visit in Montaubon!

It is a beautiful building showcasing some fantastic art. A good mixture of paintings and sculptures, with one room dedicated to the sketches of Ingres. Finished the trip with a visit to the cafe for tea and a pastry.

I loved this museum for the permanent collection of both Ingres and Bourdelle and found the collection interesting and educational.
Michael F — Google review
This museum is very interesting and depicting the correlation between the two artists Ingres and Bourdelle which is very interesting to understand. As well, the museum shows the personal collection of arts and drawings from Ingres which provides a strong perspective on Ingres' creation process.

Excellent art museum close to the centre of Montauban. It is the first time I have revisited it since the renovations and they seem to have done a very good job. All the exhibits are well displayed too. I particularly enjoyed the basement area in what felt like an old chapel. Many nice displays, some quite amusing. Recommended.

Hi all, before to start to describe this place, think about how little we know about what surrounds us? Very beautiful area and if you order a guide who just an hour or a little more will tell you about the history of all the places and buildings and people who lived in this city you will understand how much surrounds us. I would highly recommend you to visit the city of Montauban.

Ingreo is a modern aquatic center located in Montauban, France, which opened in 2013. It is the third-largest aquatic complex in the country and caters to both locals and tourists. The facility features six indoor and outdoor pools, including an Olympic-size outdoor pool, play pools with slides for kids, as well as amenities such as hammams, saunas, a state-of-the-art gym, spa facilities including jacuzzis and fitness rooms.
Awesome aquatic center where you will find a huge outside pool and some more inside. It is perfect for any season of the year, very clean and modern with prices considering if you live in Montauban or not. If, like me, you're an outsider, count 5,70€ for an adult ticket.

Warm and welcoming staff. The guide for the flour mill was amazing. Passionate and lively, the ideal guide who makes you want to learn more.

The Castelnaudary Office of Tourism was an invaluable resource during our visit to this charming town. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to help. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable about the area, offering great recommendations for things to see and do, as well as local dining options. They provided us with detailed maps, brochures, and even personalized suggestions based on our interests, which really enhanced our experience in Castelnaudary. Whether you’re interested in exploring the Canal du Midi, learning about the town’s rich history, or simply finding the best spot for a delicious cassoulet, the team at the tourism office is ready to assist. The office itself is well-organized, with a wealth of information available in multiple languages, making it easy for international visitors to navigate. Their helpfulness and enthusiasm for promoting the region made a real difference in our trip, ensuring we made the most of our time in Castelnaudary.

Camp or boat? Castelnaudary is a great starting point to explore the Canal du Midi and its cluses (locks) all the way up to Toulouse, Carcassonne or the Mediterranean Sea. Bring a cassoulet (a specialty from Castelnaudary) along the way. Le Boat rents boats (no permits needed). Their bases have showers, toilets and WiFi. Sounds like camping on water ;-)

Gardens
It was the second time we've been here. The first time was in late summer. It was hot and dry and understandably the flowers weren't at their best, so it was truly lovely to return in the spring and see all the flowers in their first bloom. As always the route through the gardens is well thought out and sign-posted. It's a gentle amble of around 2 - 2.5 hours with gorgeous scenery, beautiful flowers and alternating light and shade. The various sections are each as delightful as the last. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the little garden shop is well stocked with the beautiful plants and bushes you'll have seen on your tour. We purchased a couple of soft-drinks on our way out as we had built up a thirst in the warmth, and they weren't expensive. If I were to have one complaint, it's that they don't name any of the flowers. My MIL spent an ungodly amount of time on her phone trying to identify various species of flower and bush. But I would definitely recommend this as a lovely gentle day out if you like plants and flowers.
Rivka S — Google review
A brilliant garden. It far expected our expectations! Lovely planting, a large area where you discover new areas the whole time. The water features, buddist inspired wooden buildings, animals and a bamboo maze were added bonuses. We spent an hour just walking through the garden.

An amazing garden which has been created from scratch over the past thirty years. It has a huge variety of plants and settings including lots of water features, quite a few woodland spaces, Mediterranean planting, oriental features and rose gardens. The flowers were in full bloom when we visited in July and looked stunning. It has a fun bamboo maze and a small selection of goats and lamas!

Beautiful gardens but the lotus extravaganza is the main attraction, especially this time of year (early to mid July) at the peak of flowering!

A heaven of peace! We spent a lovely sunny afternoon at les Jardins des Martels. Beautifully designed gardens with whispering fountains, lush lawns, rose borders and many different plants and shrubs, weeping willows and big trees near ponds and bridges ...simple pleasure for all the senses! I loved the jasmin trellis, the water lilies with the little frogs and orchids in the greenhouse. Secret shady corners offer resting places before you go down to see the cows and donkey and the hens. Before we left we enjoyed a cup of tea on the wooden terrace overlooking the garden.

Saint Alain's Cathedral

Beautiful from both from outside and inside. Outside it has a rather austere southern gothic style (no decorated portals) which keeps a romanesque flair. Inside it is very richly decorated by trompe d'oeil frescoes and multi colored vaults painted with geometric patterns.
Lucian P — Google review
The interior has recently been restored and is great example of the French brick gothic cathedral architecture and really beautiful 19th century cathedral frescoes. It's also classified as a national monument. A great spot for quiet time, reflection away from the busy town or just to cool off from summer heat. Check out leaflets for some beautiful classical music events in the cathedral (especially the organ recitals)

Bruniquel Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Bruniquel Castle offers a nice visit with beautiful views of the town and valley. The museum part of the tour may be lacking in information, but the guided audio tour provides valuable insights. The small parking lot by the castle is convenient for visitors, especially those with strollers. For a moderate fee, visitors can explore two well-preserved castles and learn about paleo cave dwellings.
Better than I had expected. This is more than a “double castle site” as it’s a small village that was once upon a time a larger town. It has tumbledown properties in amidst those which have been renovated and it’s very much a lived in village. The ascent from the car park was very manageable for the average person again not as steep as perhaps reviews had led me to believe. There is a very good tourist information office as you enter the village. There is parking at the top of the hill with easy access to the village and castle. There are some restaurants so refreshment is easy.
Deryn H — Google review
What an awesome amazing castle. I took the audio accompaniment in English and if I was to visit again, I would take it again! It is a must if you want to get the most out of your visit. Lovely friendly English speaking ladies on reception who are knowledgeable about the castle. You can tell they really enjoy their job. The castle is in various states of repair. Restoration work has been carried out in most of the rooms that are open & available to the public to see. I appreciated seeing what unrestored parts of the castle looked like too.
Margaret C — Google review
Spectacular setting but you need to stop on the road to the village to get the best photograph as once you reach the castle you are too close and at the wrong angle to photograph it all. It costs €5 to enter and the lady at Reception was extremely helpful, giving us a map and explaining the recommended route. It doesn't take long to see everything, we did it in about 20 minutes. There is a recorded guide available which probably takes longer.
John L — Google review
What a lovely place this is with plenty to do and see. The village is very pretty and the castle is amazing. Well worth a visit
Marie P — Google review
An impressive historical monument since 1840, the building (12th, 13th and 17th centuries) is built at the very top of the cliff overlooking the confluence of the Vère and the Aveyron, on the site of an ancient Roman castrum. Property of the Counts of Toulouse in the 12th century, it was shared in the 15th between two branches of the House of Comminges, which explains the current division into the Château Jeune and the Château Vieux. Also known for having been the filming location for the movie "Le Vieux Fusil" with Romy Schneider and Philippe Noiret ...
Enjoy L — Google review
We had a much better experience than we had expected, based on a review by a local guide. As others have said, the reception staff are very helpful. We were given the choice of the audio guide or a written guidebook. We opted for the latter - which was in English and French - and found it very useful. A wonderful location and two very interesting castles. Rather puzzled about another reviewer’s comment about cobwebs; in a building dating from 12th century, how surprising!
Jeremy P — Google review
Wonderful medieval village and castle definitely worth to make the detour. Nice small cobblestone alleys that lead to the top of the village (relatively steep climb but not very long), where the old (medieval) and the new (16th- 17th) castles are located. In the museum you find the details of the Neanderthaler found here as well as the cave discovered around 1990.
Henri L — Google review
2 Castles side by side located on a cliff 90 metres above the adjacent river. This is a very interesting place to visit with a fascinating history. We spent several hours wandering through the castles and grounds listening to the self guided tour information. Well worth a visit.

Traditional hotel in a former abbey & school, with a gourmet restaurant, an indoor pool & a spa.
We had our wedding there, the Salon Bleu was perfect for our small affair, staff were nice, just a little bit uptight at the start, maybe not used to our irish ways. Village is beautiful, great park, verbally good food.

Hotel and conference venue are good (4 stars), what is terrible snobbish is the head waiter in the restaurant - for a party of 75 waiting for everyone to be seated at an international conference is not possible. But for him no problem, he was waiting till the last one was in the dinning hall. Also be aware if you are vegetarian: for the chef this means you eat fish - since fish is not an animal. This resulted that all the vegetarian got the vegan dishes on the second day - and from those you will go to bed hungry!

The Goya Museum, located in Castres, Occitanie, is a hidden gem for art lovers. Housed in a renovated palace with gardens by renowned architects, the museum boasts a unique collection entirely dedicated to Hispanic art. Visitors can admire three major works by Goya and other engravings by the Aragonese master. The well-organized exhibition chronicles the influence of Goya's work on artists like Picasso.
A wonderfully set out art museum. We spent over two hours in here. I did not know much about Goya it was a great learning experience. I would like to visit several more times and sit for an hour at a time in certain areas and take my time to actually look at the exhibits. Another artist whose works are also on display Damien Deroubaix very impressed by his work. It’s such a wonderful place not overwhelming easy to get round very friendly staff. Well worth the time

Sights & Landmarks
Najac Castle is a medieval fortress situated on a hilltop, offering guided tours and breathtaking views from its towers. Perched 150m above the River Aveyron, the castle's slender towers and crenellated ramparts create a fairy tale-like appearance. The village of Najac, with less than 1,000 inhabitants, provides a picturesque backdrop to the imposing structure.
Wonderful place to visit for a weekend 😍 the castle, streets and the forest are really nice. Looks small but you have too many things to do here. I recommend you to visit. I went by bike and it was really nice.

Fantastic place with incredible views. A bit of a hike but well worth the experience. A beautiful place to visit.

Beautiful town with a castle perched high on an escarpment. Alovely walk from the shop-lined square up to the castle. Climb the circular narrow stairs to the top of the keep for amazing views.
Sally A — Google review
When I was growing up there was a popular saying ‘Bacon and eggs, no thank you I’d rather wash my car’ As I walked around the castle at Najac I recalled this saying and processed to shout ‘I’d rather wash my car’ Surprisingly a man came up to me and said that it was about time
Andrew M — Google review
Interesting historical place. Great for a day out with the village next to it.
Thomas L — Google review
This fortress/castle is one of the most impressive ones you will ever see. It's the location that makes it. Sitting on a - at times steep - hill, you can see it from far away. And when you are walking down on the Rue Du Chateau (coming from the village), then it's just a sight to behold. It's picture-perfect. It goes a good way down from the village....until it goes back up again to reach the castle. It's a fairly short walk - a lot shorter than it might seem. If you have a stroller or a wheelchair it's quite an obstacle though. And the steep stairs and the cobble stones can get pretty slippery, even when it's not raining. So be aware of that and be careful. We didn't go inside the castle - we had our Bulldog with. But the best sight of it isn't up-close anyways...it's on Rue Du Chateau when you walk towards it. A wonderful, pretty and magical fortress. A must-see.
Alex H — Google review
Absolutely stunning, great value too. Well worth a visit if you are nearby. Definitely take the time to climb to the top of the tower!
Mark G — Google review
What a great trip! The hike up was not the easiest stroll, however many places to take a breather and see the views. From inside your can climb to the top- the spiral staircase are narrow, but worth the climb. You can see the town of Najac from each level and the secret passway is really fun. A great time!

Sainte-Cecile Cathedral of Albi

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Sainte-Cecile Cathedral of Albi is a stunning Gothic cathedral dating back to the 13th century, featuring a towering 78-meter-high bell tower and housing remarkable frescoes and painted chapels. Situated on the picturesque banks of the river Tarn in southern France, Albi boasts a rich architectural heritage characterized by the distinctive Languedoc style, with its prominent use of red brick and tiles.
Absolutely gorgeous inside and being built of bricks it’s beautiful and so different outside. Well worth a visit which is free for most areas with a small fee to see the vaults. The ceilings and frescoes are a sight to behold
Marie P — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the southern French gothic style I have ever visited. The outside is very imposing but the inside is crammed with beautiful artwork. It’s said that it is the largest building constructed out of bricks. Close to the building is a beautiful garden and the Toulouse-Lautrec museum.
Alex W — Google review
What can you say about this most imposing yet beautiful of cathedrals? The plain Tolosian pink brick exterior - built as a fortress to intimidate the Cathar supporters - belies the intricate beauty inside where every surface is decorated to a point that you have to just sit down to try and take it all in. And that is what you can do - it is free to enter the eastern half of the cathedral. The western half - similarly decorated but less busy, and one for the fans of impressive sculptures of the time, is a small fee, and also contains the treasures on an upper floor. Not necessary to enjoy the cathedral, but if you like completeness. The choir is stunning though, and reminiscent of York Minster, but taken up a notch. The only hint of this on the outside is the main entrance, whose portico feels like a mini cathedral in itself. If Notre Dame had fallen down before Victor Hugo built it up again, then Quasimodo would have felt very at home here, at least the Disney version anyway… Finally, we have to mention the organ - one of the biggest in France and uniquely decorated with the queues for Heaven and Hell. Very Dutch in form, and something to marvel at. I’m a big fan of European cathedrals, and Albi is in my top three. Not to be missed, if you are at least within 100km of it. The authentic winding streets and high views over the river as you make your way there add to the visual drama.
Gordon D — Google review
Truly magnificent and spectacular church with incredible art and massive fort like structure on the outside that bellies the intricate details artful details on the inside. I didn't pay to see the other half of it but didn't think it was necessary to get a great experience. Must visit if you are around Toulouse.
RV — Google review
Free entry to the impressive Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, the largest brick cathedral in the world, has the feel of a fortress. • 113m long, 35m wide and 30m under the vault •  a 78m high bell tower completed in 1480. • 1282/1493: it took 200 years to build It is also the largest fully painted cathedral in Europe, with 18,500 m² of frescoes and decorations.
Marc S — Google review
The almost complete painting of this large Gothic building is unique, magnificent, and impressive. A must-see, and not just for art historians. And very easy to visit: there's a large parking lot below the hill, and admission is free. Sit in the choir stalls and stay for a while.

History Museums
The Musée Toulouse-Lautrec, located in the 13th-century palace Le Palais de la Berbie in Albi, France, houses the world's largest collection of artworks by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The museum offers a comprehensive insight into Lautrec's life and artistic evolution through over a thousand paintings, lithographs, and posters donated by his relatives and close friend Maurice Joyant.
The museum has many of Toulouse Lautrec’s paintings that were donated by three women, one was his mother and there is a portrait of her too in the museum. It’s very interesting to visit and learn about his life and artwork. Take your time. The museum is closing for noon though but you can go in the evening too with the same ticket. Totally recommend it!
Maria A — Google review
Impressive city and a real statement building which houses the works A lot of early career stuff you don't hear about. It s a climb to get there and parking is 'fun ' but the building has lifts too. Go there and spend some time in the city too.
Keith R — Google review
Beautiful experience! The paintings on 3rd lower half were the best from the collection in my opinion. Wasn't a huge fan of that aspect of the museum but it definitely made up for it being able to experience the entire building and all it's gardens.
Hakuna C — Google review
A superb museum presenting the world's most important collection of Toulouse-Lautrec works. At the foot of Albi Cathedral, the Palais de la Berbie majestically overlooks the Tarn River. It was within the walls of this 12th-century building that the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum was established in 1922, bringing together the world's most important collection of this Albi painter. It houses more than 1,000 works, paintings, lithographs and drawings, as well as the 31 posters that made the artist famous. This exceptional collection traces his entire oeuvre, from his early paintings to his final canvas, including his Montmartre years.

Very nice museum, well laid out, and in a beautiful location. I liked that they dedicated some of the space to the history of the building itself and the archeological work that was done to uncover some of its secrets and beauty.
Delphine R — Google review
Worth taking the time to visit. The museum is well done. It was interesting to learn the history of Lautrec and see his work from a budding artist to the end of his life. It was nice the museum provided English translated guide sheets throughout the museum. When you're done make sure to check out the garden in the back.
Laura M — Google review
This museum is located in a former bishops palace, so the building is already nice. But the collection is also surprisingly good because it includes some of this early painting work, as well as that several of his contemporaryies' work. They have a hsndful of Eduard Vuillard paintings for example. It is difficult to get there by car, so park by the market parking lot.
Judith S — Google review
Largest collection of works by Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. Very good display of works from throughout his life. Very good description of works and overview of his life displayed from room to room. Also, some works by his famous instructors and friends. Descriptions in French, English, and Spanish (Castellano). I saw that in each room, there are large laminated card with the descriptions in other languages (German, Occitan, and others). The old building housing the collection itself would be worth visit. The museum store is much more reasonably priced than most. The staff is very kind. They are obviously proud that Lautrec is their home town boy. Really very nice experience.

The Berbie Palace, a stunning medieval edifice perched alongside the Tarn River in Albi, France, is a remarkable blend of history and artistry. Originally constructed as the residence for the Archbishops of Albi starting in 1282, this impressive structure showcases military architectural features that give it a fortress-like appearance. Today, it houses the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum and serves as an important cultural site recognized by UNESCO.
Stunning garden in front of the berbie palace which accommodates Toulouse Lautrec’s museum, no entrance fee, totally recommend a visit! Nice views of the palace and the river too!

Fantastic French-style garden which flourishes at the foot of the majestic Palais de la Berbie. Located in the monument's former parade ground in the 17th century, it owes its existence to the first archbishop of Albi, Hyacinthe Serroni. Listed as a Remarkable Garden since 2010, one usually comes to enjoy its tranquility and its incredible panorama of the right bank of the Tarn, the Pont-Vieux, and the old mills ...
Enjoy L — Google review
Beautifully walled buildings and gardens with great view over the river to the old town and bridges. Free of charge to enter, although the museums inside do charge a small few. Wasn't busy when we went on a Saturday at 2pm. Great restaurants surround the palace although you will pay a premium, 19euro for a burger although many do a plate of the day which is better value. If you take the walk behind the palace down to the river, there appears to be a boat tour but we were tight on time so did not go for a cruise.

Very scenic spot, definitely a must visit. It’s just directly behind the museum next to the cathedral. A personal advice to tourist is that don’t rely googlemap too much you might misunderstand these attractions are separated different spots but in fact they are all a group of historic buildings together. The cathedral, museum, garden, bridge are all together accessible from 1 place.

Strongly recommend visiting the garden next to the river after your museum visit. Just look at these gorgeous plants and amazing views. I’m sure that it’s beautiful in any season.

A garden located on the banks of river Tarn. You can go there for a visit. Not a lot of places to sit. Seems like a fusion garden between Japanese and conventional style. You can only view it from the top as entry to the garden is closed. Would not recommend if you have less time.

The Pont Vieux, also known as the Old Bridge, is a venerable medieval structure dating back to 1040 AD. It was originally built to facilitate trade and economic growth in Albi. Nice historic area. We found a public parking nearby and walked to the view point and then to the city center by crossing the old bridge. There is some work going on the bridge so only pedestrians can cross it. Albi looks like a town rich in heritage and history. Definitely recommend.

Reminds me so much of Durham, England… but bigger. On a blue sky day, can’t be beat. Try viewing from the railway bridge and the high road bridge. But you can also drop down to the riverbank along some almost hidden alleys.

The Pont-Vieux built around 1035, it promoted trade between the two banks of the Tarn river. Albi was then already at the crossroads of trade routes and pilgrimage routes, that would ensure its great prosperity.

This 151m long medieval bridge crossing the Tarn river in the city of Albi was originally named Pont du Tarn. It was built between 1035 and 1042. However, the oldest parts you see today date back to the 13th century. It was very interesting to know that the bridge contributed to the urban and commercial development of the city. And the money that was collected (toll) was used for the maintenance of the bridge and also the city walls.
