Hohoj

Mountain peak
Sights & Landmarks
Monuments & Statues
Nestled away from the usual tourist paths, Hohoj is a remarkable burial mound that boasts a rich history dating back centuries. With its impressive diameter of 12 meters (about 40 feet) and perched at an elevation of around 120 meters (400 feet) above the stunning fjord, it offers breathtaking views that are perfect for enjoying a packed lunch or coffee.
(Translated by Google) Just love burial mounds - and this one is something very special 👏🏻 (Original) Elsker bare gravhøje - og denne her er noget helt særligt 👏🏻

This large burial mound- measuring 12 meters [about 40 feet] in diameter dates back many centuries [more info is provided at the nearby "Red House" and the Mariager Museum]-- and numerous "Archaeological Diggs" have also turned up information. The sight is about 120 meters [400 feet] above the nearby fjord. While it is a "hidden treasure"- i.e. off the "well traversed/beaten tourist route"... it is definitely worthy of a visit! I hope that this Review has been helpful!

(Translated by Google) It is a reasonably hefty horse. I had no idea it was there when I happened to pass by and I don't think there was really any information. However, had to take a few photos as it is not that often you see sculptures of horses and without a rider, not at that size at all. Despite the fact that I knew nothing about the sculpture and did not directly seek it out, it was definitely worth a visit.

Each year, it attracts over 100,000 visitors who come to enjoy an impressive lineup of more than 400 events ranging from ballets and musicals to R&B concerts and film screenings.
Very nice venue. The sound is great. The size is perfect for various mid size concerts. Parking could be better.

Saw Queen Machine. Awesome concert by the way. Seatings are okay and the view on the floor is okay leveled. Although the speaker system might need a tune-up. The vocals sounded abit blurry. The hall is nice and spacious. There's 3 hours free parking right outside.

Museum
Concert hall
Nestled in Randers, Denmark, the Memphis Mansion is a tribute to the iconic Elvis Presley and his remarkable legacy. This museum replicates his famous home in Memphis and boasts an impressive collection of original memorabilia that celebrates his life and music career. Visitors can explore various exhibits, including a small cinema and conference rooms, while also indulging in some delicious Southern American cuisine at the on-site Highway 51 Diner.
Well cooked food, small quantities, I must say that it is Denmark, it is not the south of Europe, culture, but they should be faster in the kitchen, very friendly staff, that is, waiters, it is a museum, conclusion Good experience

It was an awesome thing to visit a replica of Graceland in Denmark. The inside was like a museum of collections the owner has acquired. It was a good visit and the restaurant was really good. We had lunch and enjoyed it a lot.
Patricia L — Google review
My partner booked this as a surprise for my birthday , we are staying for a week in Denmark and we both thought it was amazing! We were greeted by a lovely man called Mathias who was both friendly and informative, he also went out of his way to help us with one of the videos so we could watch in English. As a massive Elvis fan this is a must , so many gems in this collection , it’s just an Elvis Lovers dream. The enthusiasm and excitment Henrik has for Elvis is so nice to see , I really hope this place stays open for ever! We visited on a weekday around 10:30 we arrived and had the whole museum to ourselves! It was great to have that time to leisurely look at everything. We had food in the highway 51 diner too, it’s great if you eat meat as there’s a ton of options but as a vegetarian I found myself left with a few options , the veggie burger or the PB & J sandwich or the salads I think, it’s a great vibe but it would be nice to have some more varied vegetarian options too. However, food was hot and well seasoned which is really important! The gift shop was maybe lacking some more variety , there’s a ton of books, cd’s and vinyls but not much on merchandise front like t shirts, decorative items etc. There are lots of photos to be taken in and around the mansion, the Johnny cash museum and the tupelo house was really cool also and it’s nice to have Elvis music playing everywhere, even outside! 10/10 would recommend and if we ever come back to Denmark we will definitely be visiting again! Thank you to everyone as this is a really special place.

THE STUPENDOUS MEMPHIS MANSION. SUPERB IN EVERYWAY . I was there as a guest of Benny Ray who is great friends with Henrik and Gitte the owners. The food was spectacular. The atmosphere absolutely amazing. The staff were the best. Having worked at Planet Hollywood, London at the very beginning in 1993. And managed the Fulham Boulevard in 1985 . And having excellent training in Restaurants . You will remember this experience forever. I highly recommend this brilliant Museum of ELVIS MEMROBILLIA. The shop has LP's, CD's. Shirts which are of super high quality. Please when in Randers,Denmark go treat yourself. ELVIS LIVES! Derek Lyons

Fantastic Elvis vibe! Great American style diner w/ fantastic burgers and shakes! A stage outside for live music and a huge collection of Elvis memorabilia and gift shop! Best part is the non-stop Elvis music playing in the background ❤️❤️❤️ Excellent Hospitality!! Fantastic 😊

Cozy Elvis museum plus a bonus Johnny Cash exebition. There's also a nice American style diner. And it did look like many locals stopped by just for the food too.
Tor K — Google review
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The museum was also truly amazing not only because it is nearly identical to the original one but also because of the things you can see that Elvis has worn or used. I can also suggest the burgers at the restaurant👌

Randers Regnskov

Mentioned on
+12 other lists
Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Randers Regnskov is a renowned tropical zoo and one of the top attractions in Randers. The main highlight of this indoor zoo is its three dome-enclosed rainforest habitats representing Africa, Asia, and South America. Visitors can explore adventure trails, rope bridges, and waterfalls while observing free-roaming animals like crocodiles, monkeys, manatees, pythons, and iguanas.
It's a really nice zoo with a lot to offer. First of all, be sure to be there early in the morning (10-15 minutes before opening). Otherwise, parking will be a serious problem. We arrived 20 minutes past the opening time, and the parking was about 60% full. They have some special storage rooms for small and big strollers, which is very useful. There are also small storage units for things like backpacks, jackets, etc, but they work with 2 kr. Coins, so don't waste any other type. If you don't bring coins along, you can still exchange money for some special coins to use at the gift shop. Be careful what you need to store and what you take, because you need to use again 2 kr. Coins, every time you open and close the locker. Nice inside restaurant, with a big area to sit, eat and relax. If you have some snacks or sandwiches from home, there is an outside area that you can use for that. There are small "games" you can play with your entourage, like every time you enter an area, you can try to find and identify all the animals. The tigers enclosure is next to the picnic area, so if you're lucky, you can enjoy your sandwich, while the tiger enjoys his meal. It's a really good place to spend your day in. That's about all the time you need to enjoy this zoo.
Radu O — Google review
This zoo was beyond our expectations, it has several species of animals that one may not found in every other zoo. It is a tropical zoo with animals from Asia, Africa & South America and many of those are rarest animal species. It has really nice playgrounds and cafes too. One can easily spend 4-5 hours here.
Sweta K — Google review
Do you want a jungle adventure without breaking the bank, this place could be for you. 3 bio domes houses numerous fish, birds, insects and animals like monkeys, Sloth, Crocodile s and many other. We visited this place in start of June and had a great experience. Familys with children will have a splendid time here. After your adventure you can enjoy some food in the cafe or visit a shop with merchandise. I recommend this place for children in all ages and for all interested in biology and animals.
Rene N — Google review
Generally good. But you can tell that the zoo is coming into its years. Way too crowed!! People are pushing through with their big kiddie bicycle trailers or huge prams. It’s also very loud even if signs are asking visitors to be quiet. Still kids are loving it and the new outdoor area is nice.
Sara B — Google review
A must see if you are visiting the area! I was really surprised by the diversity of the ecosystems on display here. Each space was beautifully constructed and everything seemed natural and wild. There were a lot more animals here than I had expected. The info cards about each animal were a nice addition and I learned many new bits of trivia during the visit.
Tiia R — Google review
I love Randers Rainforest even though I live in Copenhagen I have now been there twice, this last time on my own so that I could take my time. I want to go again soon.
Mette K — Google review
This is how a zoo should be! They way they build the zoo is briljant everything seems to be one. A little ledge zo the turtles dont run away but you can step in with them. A little house with a window with big cuddly cats, a cave with bats where they nearly hit you head, really cool! pro tip, if you have binoculairs bring them! To see the birds upclose is even cooler. Another tip, my pregnant wife needed a few times to sit. And everytime you do you wil discover new animals, so take your time. All signs have English on them and they have really smart signs with al the animals on them you might wanna take a photo of them zo you can cross off what you found, a little where is Waldo. We came around 13:00 and parking was really full, we had to wait til somebody left. We waited 5 minutes so not that long. We spend like 3 hours and took our time and had a little lunch. And we forget to see the animals outside… I saw that in the other reviews. Sometimes the signs on the doors are a bit demotivating, something Danisch stands on the door and it probable says you may not eat in there and pet animals but if you cannot read it it could also say dont go in here. Will come back!
Justin — Google review

Dokk1 is a cultural center and the main branch of the Aarhus Library, located in a striking waterfront building. It offers a modern public space perfect for nocturnal exploration and cultural events, with ambient lighting and architectural grandeur by the harbor.
Dokk1 in Aarhus is a wonderful destination for anyone, whether you’re with family, a partner, or exploring on your own. Nestled right by the harbor, this library offers stunning views through its expansive floor-to-ceiling glass walls, creating a serene and inspiring space to read, work, or simply relax. Inside, the library is designed to be both modern and inviting, with plenty of cozy nooks for quiet reading and workspaces that feel open and filled with natural light. The outdoor playground is fantastic for kids, with interactive installations and plenty of space for them to explore. The coffee shop is another highlight, serving up rich, quality coffee alongside a nice selection of pastries, making it easy to stay and enjoy the space for hours. Dokk1 isn’t just a library—it’s a community space that feels vibrant yet calming, with the perfect mix of bustling areas and quiet corners. We loved the place so much that we went twice during our 3-day visit to Aarhus!
Omer M — Google review
When it comes to the space where you can feel the best local feeling, I choose the library. I always visit the city's library wherever I go, but this place felt very family-friendly. Rather than borrowing a book, I felt like I was spending time with my family here and spending the day. The library itself was not a big one. However, to be in a place where you can see the beautiful sea, you will feel good.
웅냥냥 — Google review
Totally awesome place to study and also relax with the view. I always come here and going forward for reviewing my notes in lib. Removed one star because it closed on Saturday 😭
Tangellapalli R — Google review
A pretty nice and large library with many options for entertainment. A lot of college students like to go down there to review their work or just relax with a book or their multitude of games. There’s both consoles (Which you need to ask to be opened) and other options for games. Back in the days it used to have more classic consoles, which unfortunately don’t seem to be there anymore, at least to my knowledge. As a local I’d recommend going if you have nothing to do in town.
Frederik Y — Google review
Favorite spot in town! Literally can spend a whole day working and studying in this library, the view is just too amazing 🤩

Great place for tourists and children. Nice views across the harbour with seating and cafe to rest for tourists. and lots of children books and area for kids. Can get busy during the day. Lots of university students here studying.

Apart from the fact that there is access to a wonderful library, study room, high-tech exhibitions, spaces where you can have a coffee with friends, underground parking, etc... for me, it is the most beautiful view of the sea.
Maria M — Google review
Very beautiful architecture with several reading areas and Cafés. You have amazing views of the city and waterfront from the library. I can't comment the books as I don't speak Danish but I felt the foreign language books could have been a little more.

Aarhus Cathedral, a Gothic church dating back to the 12th century, is dedicated to Saint Clement and features stunning fresco-covered arches. The city of Aarhus offers a plethora of attractions including ARoS - Aarhus Museum of Art, The Old Town open-air museum, Botanical Garden, Marselisborg Palace, Moesgaard Museum, Tivoli Friheden Theme Park and more.
Denmark’s longest church is definitely worth a visit! It’s just middle of Aarhus . Remember to climb to tower which is around 150 steps to top and its cost like 10 dkk. Than you will see the gergouse view of the city ,unfortunately my short time I could only make it to see inside of church . It’s like 525 years old . Such a beautiful details inside . I can say that u can easly spend an hour for the see all church. Highly recommended…
Emre U — Google review
We visited Aarhus for the day while on a cruise, and Aarhus Cathedral (Skt. Clemens Kirke) was one of the most impressive sights of our short stop! Located right in the city center, it’s impossible to miss—its towering spire dominates the skyline and draws you in from blocks away. Dating back to the 14th century, this is Denmark’s largest church and an important historical landmark. The exterior is beautiful, but stepping inside truly took our breath away. The architecture is stunning, with high vaulted ceilings, intricate woodwork, and centuries-old frescoes that have been beautifully preserved. You can really feel the history in every detail. Even with limited time in the city, this cathedral was well worth the visit. It’s peaceful, awe-inspiring, and gives you a real sense of Aarhus’s heritage. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or simply want to take in a quiet moment while exploring, Aarhus Cathedral is a must-see. Highly recommended if you're visiting the city—even just for the day!
Celine L — Google review
If you come to Aarhus, you should come here. You can feel the grandeur of the cathedral. You can get in there for free and it was 5kr to go up to the tower. You can see the view of Orhus. But I didn't go up.
웅냥냥 — Google review
Beautiful cathedral that had organ music playing when we came. Lots of amazing frescoes to pore over. Free entry and free toilet. Read their brochure for information on why there is a ship hanging in "the ship" part of the cathedral or why the patron saint is holding an upside down anchor. The entry to the clock tower was unfortunately closed when we visited.
T.N. — Google review
Fantastic cathedral , free to enter although I believe there is a fee for climbing the tower. Lots of frescos, tombs and art. If you are there when the organ plays it will blow your mind. If worth a visit and there are toilets too
Kevin M — Google review
Fascinating cathedral with many frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries (also one from the 1300s!) and a unique altarpiece created in the mid-1400s. Take your time in here, there is a lot more to see than first appears. Buy one of ylthe pamphlets at the entrance in order to really appreciate this well-preserved cathedral.
Julie C — Google review
Absolutely beautiful- inside and out. Cool tiles from the 1100's.

The ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is a prominent art museum located in Aarhus, Denmark. It houses an extensive collection of Danish art from the 18th century to contemporary works, as well as a diverse foreign collection featuring renowned artists from various countries. The museum's striking exterior resembles a floating red-brick box and spans ten storeys.
Lovely Art Museum with a lot of modern art. They have a significant collection of Danish artists. Currently there is a Picasso and others on the display. You can also see Andy Warhol’s art there. On the top of the building there is a Rainbow Panorama which is very interesting. Art is spread over 10 floors in the building. Parking is not a problem around the museum. Inside you can have a coffee and a light meal.
Rafal K — Google review
The building itself is pretty cool. Some of the exhibitions are nice. They have headphones but only in Danish. The roof top sky walk is fun to take photos of.
Irene K — Google review
suppose I hate modern art as most of this was dreadful to my eyes. I did like the landscape paintings and a few others but most of it was weird, bad or just utter nonsense. The two women cutting onions was the biggest joke they called art. I don’t get the rainbow roof either, so what? It’s tinted glass, for kids or Instagram/TikTokers it may be good but not for adults.
Rob — Google review
♿ Entrance = Yes ♿ Parking = Yes ♿ Building = Yes ♿ Elevator = small / medium sized The aarhus art museum is what I was looking forward to see for awhile now and I got the chance to do it today. I was a bit disappointed from the expectations as they do have 10 floors but in reality only 7-8. The highest floor has the rainbow colored glass and This is definitely the best part of the museum in my opinion. 2 levels below it as the human art which was decent. The floor below it was okay. And all the other floors wasn't worth checking out. 2 floors were for a younger audience. So if you're going as a family it may be worth visiting all the floors. If you're all adults. You may not stay there for super long. They have a cafeteria and toilets as well as Free WiF, they have a button that slows down the rotating door which is good for bad walkers or wheelchair usersi. It's not a bad place but not a super interesting one either in my opinion.
Crafo — Google review
Beautiful museum. A lot of stairs, but there are elevators available for people with difficulty to walk. We loved the interactive art area. We appreciated that the front desk employee warned us for a scarier exposition on the third floor, since we brought our child. That way we could avoid it. What could have made the experience so much better would be if they’d implement a play area for young children. Young kids can get bored or overwhelmed and it would be nice if they could de-stimulate in a play area/child friendly area. That way someone can watch the kids in the play area while the other can enjoy art in peace. The rainbow panorama is very noisy. This could trigger you if you’re sound sensitive. Best is to bring some kind of noise cancelling for a better experience. There was so much amazing art in this museum. It’s definitely worth a visit. Parking is a bit difficult. We went on a workday and there were very few parking spots available.
Manita P — Google review
Walking into ARoS feels like entering a soul. Not a building. A soul. There’s this weight in the air — not heavy like sadness, but like meaning. Like emotion stretched out over canvas and sculpture. Like a mirror you didn’t ask for, but couldn’t look away from. 🪞💔 You walk past massive human forms, surreal tunnels, and sometimes... just emptiness. But the kind that makes you want to cry and laugh and fall in love all at once. Every room feels like an emotion you once had — or tried to forget. 😭💗🖤 And then… then there’s the rainbow panorama. The city is below you, silent, distant, still... and you’re walking through color. Through emotion. Through perspective. Through the prism of your own heart. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Every step changes how you see the world. How you see yourself. You start yellow, full of joy. Then blue… melancholic. Red… passionate. Green… calm. It's like mood rings for the soul. I walked that circle three times. Once with wonder. Once with longing. Once just to cry. 🌈🔁🫂 This isn’t just art. It’s emotional warfare. It rips you open and stitches you back up with neon thread. 🧵✨
Oliver — Google review
This museum is a hidden gem. There are 9 floors full of different kinds of art, and the collections never felt too repetitive like the large world-class art museums sometimes do. Floor 0 and all the installments must be checked out; our favorite was the Storm Room haha! I think total I spent 4 hours here, but I went back later in the day before it closed so luckily you can break it up a bit if you need to.
Blake W — Google review
A great museum for a wide range of art, from paintings to 3D sculptures and the rainbow circle of glass on top. The building itself was super cool, especially the internal «courtyard» in the middle with its bridges spanning across the ravine. Enjoyed my visit and will def revisit if I get back to Århus!

Each year, it welcomes nearly a million guests for over 1,500 concerts and events.
We had the full packet, a show "The Infernal Comedy" and the event dinner. It was a perfect evening. Show was amazing, John Malkovich is for sure a world class actor. Dinner was great, I would go dine there, even I didn't have a show to see. Staff was so service minded, polite and helpful. We had a great evening.

Very nice theatre hall. Went for a theatre play containing opera, and the sound quality was surprisingly good. The view from my balcony (right side) was without problems, and before the show I had a nice glass of wine in the bar. Entering the hall was without much waiting in line and I got inside within 5 minutes of waiting. Two minor "areas of improvement" was 1) the bar opened only one hour(ish) before the show, so you can't hang around for long if you've travelled from far away and need a place for a relaxing glass of wine, and 2) there was no notification of the hall doors opening (also, tickets didn't say e.g. "doors open 10 minutes before the show"), so you had to guess when to get ready by the door to enter the hall.

The Greenhouses in the Botanical Garden of Aarhus offer a unique experience, featuring plants from around the world within four distinct climate zones. Visitors can take a break from city exploration and immerse themselves in the artificial rainforest, gaining insight into diverse plant life. The garden also provides outdoor areas such as heath and beach landscapes for relaxation.
The wife and I visited when we went to Denmark recently. It was great. Free of charge, a lot to see, a lovely cafe and a good souvenir shop.

We visited Aarhus for the day while on a cruise, and the Botanical Gardens and Tropical Houses quickly became one of my absolute favourite stops. Nestled right in the city, this beautiful green space offers a peaceful escape and a surprising amount to explore—all for free, which I really appreciated! The gardens themselves are lovely to stroll through, showcasing native Danish plants and thoughtfully designed landscapes. But the real highlight for me was the Tropical Houses. The glass domes are like stepping into a different world—lush, warm, and full of life. Inside, you’re surrounded by towering palms, vibrant flowers, waterfalls, and even butterflies fluttering freely through the air. As a houseplant lover, I was blown away by the size and health of many familiar plants I grow at home—jade plants, umbrella plants, bird of paradise, banana plants, philodendrons, and so many more. They looked like they were on steroids compared to my little potted versions! It was amazing to see them in this thriving, naturalistic environment. Whether you’re into plants, photography, or just want a relaxing place to explore, this spot is a must-visit in Aarhus. It’s a perfect mix of nature, education, and tranquility, right in the middle of the city. Don’t miss this gem—especially if you’re visiting Aarhus on a short stop like we were. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Nice place if you’re looking to spend your time meaningful and relaxing. If you are a nature lover then this must be in your bucket list . When we were here we feel like throat we were at home Sri Lanka . All the plantations belong to Sri Lanka climate planted here inside the green house . And the sounds are also match perfectly to the environment. Tropical weather with high humidity and all the plantations are here to find .

The Old Town, also known as Den Gamle By, is a captivating open-air museum in Aarhus, Denmark. It features over 75 historic buildings dating from the 16th to the early 20th century, meticulously collected and preserved to recreate an authentic market town from the time of Hans Christian Andersen. The museum offers a glimpse into Denmark's past with its well-preserved houses, shops, workshops, and windmills that still function as they did in bygone eras.
This place is amazing for kids and adults. It was the highlight of our 3 day trip to Aarhus. We especially loved the 1922 cafe (where we bought coffee and pastries prepared, baked, and served like in the original time) and the historic bakery (where we bought actual bread and pastries that would have been available on the original time). The other buildings and exhibits are great too. The festival grounds were especially loved by our 4 year old. Overall, one of the best open air museums we've been to.

Absolutely amazing place! It really is like you are back in time. It was so interesting walking around fully immersed in the past. You could maybe spend all day here if you really took your time. My favourite thing in Aarhus and possibly the best musuem I’ve been to!
Rob — Google review
A wonderful step back in times past, representing many eras, cultures and historic events. Great for the family and history buffs. This spacious recreation is thoughtfully laid out walking through the Vikings to 1970s in the form of Main Street, museum of artifacts, village recreations and country estate with authentic trade shops. Historic coffee and bakery from the 1800s was inviting and delicious. Preteens may not appreciate the historical context of Aarhus, said to be the first civilized port of the Viking era. Well maintained and mostly accessible. Loved our visit
M H — Google review
The absolutely beautiful museum took me back in time. I loved the 1970s themed arrangements the most. We had the perfect opportunity to visit during the K7 week too. Watch out for the ducks, they chase you!

What a fun experience. See housing, shops and vocational skills from several different time periods. Well maintained, picturesque area, and friendly hosts. Cute gift shop, too, that offers a variety of options from candy and toys, to kitchen gadgets, books, and ornaments.

Our first stop this morning was to The Old Town Museum (known as Den Gamle By). It is a museum that allows visitors to have a feel of the architecture and culture of the different eras – particularly the years 2014, 1974, 1927 and 1864. Even the streets have been remodelled accordingly with the cobbled streets belonging to an older era and smoother streets to the more modern era. You will see that the entire Old Town museum in Aarhus is immersive in that you can enter different buildings and learn about the history of that particular building. There are also period actors that would perhaps be a blacksmith, a backer and even a brewer – whom you can interact with to learn more about what they are doing... For the full review of Den Gamble By and details of our 5 Months Round The World Trip, visit 2bearbear today!

Den Gamle By is a very cool experience. We spent over 6 hours exploring all of the homes, businesses and gardens that have been recreated/ reconstructed. Good variety of food and drink options as you make your way through. Quite a lot of interactions set up in many of the exhibits, and the rotary phones you can use to call businesses in the town are such a fun idea.

Marselisborg Deer Park is a 22-hectare nature preserve and zoo located south of Aarhus city. It features free-ranging wild boar and deer, including sika and fallow deer. The park is adjacent to the Marselisborg Forests, offering a peaceful retreat among flora, fauna, and wildlife. Visitors can explore the surrounding gardens and parklands of the impressive Marselisborg Palace, which has been the summer residence of Danish royalty since 1902.
Simply stunning! We loved it here and spent most of our day with these beautiful animals. When you arrive, take your time, be smooth with movements. Go to back of park up the hill by the water, snap some branches at the back and watch how many deer you have right next to you eating them. Makes for a super special visit

This complimentary park is a true gem, boasting a stunning collection of towering trees that create a serene, majestic atmosphere. It's also home to an abundance of adorable deer, often seen gracefully roaming in herds. Their presence adds an enchanting touch, offering endless viewing pleasure and making every visit a delightful experience amidst nature's beauty.

I didn’t see a single deer when I went to the deer park in Ireland, but this time in Denmark? Around 30 deers right in front of me. What beautiful creatures! Someone on the internet says you can feed them and I got there all excited with my carrots then saw the no feeding sign :( anyways the deers are so cute! Park has wc. And the park is close to the infinite bridge.

Marselisborg Deer Park is an absolute must-visit in Aarhus! The park is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and offers a truly magical experience with the free-roaming deer. It’s rare to find a place where you can walk quietly among wildlife and feel so close to nature while still being just minutes from the city. The deer are gentle and used to visitors, and watching them wander through the forest is incredibly calming. The scenery is lovely in every season—lush and green in summer, golden in autumn, and wonderfully serene in winter. There are plenty of walking paths, picnic spots, and open areas for families, couples, or solo visitors. It’s free to enter, easy to reach by bike or bus, and perfect for a relaxed afternoon. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who wants a peaceful escape right outside Aarhus.

Marselisborg Deer Park is a wonderful place to spend time in Aarhus! 🦌✨ The highlight is definitely the deer — they roam freely all around the park, which makes the experience feel magical and close to nature. There are plenty of seating areas scattered across the park, so it’s easy to find a nice spot to relax, have a picnic, or just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The park is big, green, and very well maintained, making it enjoyable for both short walks and longer visits. Parking is never a problem since there are many spaces available, and the entrance is completely free, which makes it perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to enjoy a calm day outdoors. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Aarhus! 🌳🌞
Ahmed A — Google review
A great experience, you see the deer so close up. They literally walk past you. Signs say you cannot feed them despite people saying otherwise online. They can get scared if you get too close or make too much noise.
Rob — Google review
This is a great park that is very special. Depending on the time of year you will see all the big bucks on full display which is unique to say the least. Be cautious around the bucks. This is how quickly things can change! They are having to harvest the big bucks because they can get aggressive with people feeding them more so between the months of sept-November according to locals. It’s not their fault so please refrain from putting yourself and them in danger by doing so.

Archaeological museum
Moesgaard Museum, located 10km south of the city, is a modernist museum that emerges from the ground with a spectacular design. The museum houses exhibits spanning various eras, from the Stone Age to the Viking era, featuring well-preserved artifacts and archaeological displays. One of its star attractions is the 2000-year-old Grauballe Man.
♿ Entrance = Yes ♿ Parking = Yes ♿ Building = Yes ♿ Elevator = medium / long size. The place is in a good beautiful natural environment and it's pretty calm. There are many parking lots. Their is a wheelchair accessible door and parking lot outside (close to the building). The elevator is in a good size for most wheelchair users. This place is truly worth visiting and you will need 4-5h or more to see all of it. The building is gigantic from both inside and outside. There are many benches to rest, has audio (headphones), lots of projectors and display, there's a few interactions. The walking way is for most part wheelchair accessible and only some parts or area it may be tight or not accessible but even then it's more than 4h of exploring. Some things look like you have already seen or are repetitive but it goes from the Viking age to iron and other evolutions. Restaurant may be a bit on the pricey side and there is a roof you can go on to admire the view. Their is a souvenir shop but I haven't found anything of interest or is too much for my liking. The museum is great to check out.

A visually stunning musician with an already huge reputation for arts and culture. One of my favourite nutrients of the year! This lives up to every expectation set; accessible, huge, interactive, fun for kids, insightful, visually stunning and such an education. The Celtic exhibition was really special, and the attention to detail was incredible. The thought that has gone into these exhibitions means it's somewhere I will always come back to when I visit the area. I've read about the performances also outside which look incredible too.

What a wonderful museum! Great display of Viking as well as middle ages relics. Nice life-size diorama. Very good films. Everything with English text and/or English audio. Nice experimental things for kids to playfully learn with. The building itself is a work of art. The tour I took, in German, about the life of the Vikings was so-so to useless (if you have watched Vikings or Valhalla, then you don't need to take the tour (not worth the money... it costs extra).

I visited Moesgaard Museum on a weekday, and it was absolutely fantastic. You can easily spend many hours here, both indoors and outdoors. Annette P — Google review
Super interesting museum, huge place with lots of different depictions and quite a bit of story behind every corner of it. Would recommend dedicating a full day to it as there is a lot to see. The Grauballe Man, which is a bog body older than 2000 years, is really a special thing to see.
Zoran G — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting — one of the best museums I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to many). You can’t get the real feeling just by looking at pictures; you need to hear, touch, and explore here. I agree that it might not be the best choice for small children, but with enough time, parents can still make it interesting for them. Plan for at least five hours (or more), and it’s a good idea to take a few breaks — or even split your visit over a couple of days. It would be great if there were a playground, like in IKEA, where parents could leave their kids for a couple of hours. I don’t expect to find German or other translations in every museum, so I’m very grateful that everything here is translated into English. Thank you for the great work! We’ll definitely come again, and I’ll be recommending this museum to my friends.

Ejer Bavnehøj is a mountain peak with a commemorative tower at the summit and a history as a warning beacon location. It offers breathtaking views of the beautiful surroundings and an opportunity for a walk in the area. Mollehoj, Denmark's highest natural point, is just about 500 meters away from Ejer Bavnehøj, making it worth visiting.
Ejer Bavnehøj is the third-highest natural point in Denmark (170.35 m). At its summit is a 13 m tall tower, built in 1924, commemorating the reunion of the south of Jutland with the rest of Denmark after the First World War. Historically Ejer Bavnehøj was mostly known as a site for a beacon where signal-fires were lit in order to warn the military and local population if the enemy were on the way. Entry tricket for the tower costs 10 DKK paid by MobilPay.

A Wonderful large Marina with great views! Marinas can be found throughout Denmark (and elsewhere)... but the amenities and the "environs" of this centrally located harbour in Juelsminde is really special! The views of the surrounding "Bay/Fjord" are very attractive.. as are the extensive white sand beaches! What I liked most were the picnic tables "scattered about" and several with sturdy wooden structures to block the cold winds. These structures are also painted black... to attract heat, thereby making it all the more comfortable for visitors as well as residents! Surrounding the Marina, there are also several restaurants and bars. The "shopping street"... and, its many diverse shoppes... also adjoins the Marina. Its a great place to enjoy nature as well as the yachts and motor boats. I hope that this Review has been helpful.

Himmelbjergtårnet, also known as Himmel Mountain, is a popular destination in Denmark with easy trekking trails and clear signage to guide hikers. It is accessible from Ry station, although transportation options are limited. According to Danish legend, it was once the dwelling place of gods. The mountain offers stunning views and has been cleared of trees on some slopes to provide panoramic vistas of Silkeborg lakes.
One of highest natural places in Denmark. They have removed trees from some slopes to enable nice views towards Silkebork lakes.

Simple and easy trek. Signs are posted along the way, so zero chance of getting lost. Ry is the closest station with connecting inter-city metro/tram/bus. But the frequency is not so good, so plan your trek well. The view from the top of Himmel Mountain is beautiful.

Museums
Located atop the Caroline Amalie Lund park, the Horsens Art Museum is a striking and beautiful building that captivates visitors with its allure. Despite its small size, it offers a range of interesting exhibitions that focus on quality over quantity. The museum primarily showcases contemporary art and provides a calm and pleasant environment for visitors to explore. While not all exhibits may be suitable for children, the museum's friendly and knowledgeable staff contribute to making each visit memorable.
The collection might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the concept of following an artist's journey through years is an interesting way to dive in one's work. Contemporary art by Danish artists

I felt a little weird, scared and funny at the same time! Weird art, but thats also art! Really beautifull! Hygiene was really good, clean toilets, very friendly staff, cheap payed 200-300kr for 4p.

I really liked that place, it's small but well organized with some good art. There is also a buffet. I recommend. 5.0.2024 Update Back after 5 years since my last visit. I'm a bit disappointed: less exhibitions, less souvenirs. I think that the buffet has a bigger success...

Nice little art museum. Got locked inside and had to call front desk to get out, just as the receptionist was leaving! The restaurant is nice too!! PS. the brown sauce burger in the restaurant is an acquired taste ;-)

Industrimuseet

Historic Sites
Industrimuseet, established in 1977, is a Labor, Crafts and Industry Museum that narrates the industrial progress in Horsens since 1850. Despite being primarily in Danish, it offers an immersive experience of old Danish professions and living. The museum showcases historical industrial processes on-site, including workers' households from the 1920s to 2000. Visitors can explore shops, apartments, machine areas, and workshops without any restrictions.
Unexpectedly great museum! It offers all kinds of historical industrial processes on site, including the households of workers, which were really great. Ranging from the 1920ies till 2000. They created exactly the atmosphere of the ages they describe. The greatest thing is that you can enter in the shops, the apartments, the machine areas and all workshops. No alarms ringing, no worries that one would steal an old Abba album! Amazing feeling to be back in those times! Very spacious outdoor area and great industrial playground. Suitable for young until early teenager age. Cafe looked good, but we did not get to enjoy it as we were absorbed in the museum one needs at least two to three hours to really enjoy it. Very much worth to visit!

We had a great time. The fact that there was such a variety of exhibits and almost everything was very hands-on really kept our kids' attention. We ended up staying for almost 4 hours. There was room to have a packed lunch - indoors, too, which was particularly useful on the day of our visit. Free parking right next door was also great.
Ian A — Google review
Nice area near Horsens harbor and marinara showcasing factory machines from the early 1900s, workers living areas, textile industry, printing presses, shoe making, Nimbus motorbikes and an old bank. Ice cream, free parking, picnic areas and toilets available.

wow the coolest place ever, they have steamengines, diesel, generators, press machines, even stone press in action, phone history, radio and tv history, schools , workshops, and a nimbus section too, all people you meet there are super friendly and love to talk and show you stuff, much much recommended, kids under 18 are free

FÆNGSLET, a former state penitentiary turned museum, offers interactive exhibits and guided tours led by former inmates. The prison's unconventional history includes prisoners freely roaming in the evenings and working in workshops during the day. Additionally, the venue hosts concerts within its walls for a unique music experience.
We came here during the medieval festival around August every year. They made it looked it really during the medieval era. There were plays, dances and activities for visitors to try. Plenty of drinks and Foods also to taste. Kids will definitely enjoy here ada there were many activities for them and some playgrounds. With plenty of parking space but better to be early as it gets full after lunch already.
Meriam D — Google review
This prison museum was incredibly interesting and left a deep impression. I found every section engaging, with new and informative displays around each corner. The basement was the most impactful part for me — especially the photo of a former prisoner, which really stayed with me. Most of the written information is available in English, making it easy to follow along. However, the films are all in Danish, so keep that in mind if you don’t speak the language. Overall, a powerful and well-designed museum that I definitely recommend visiting.

Unassuming apartment hotel in an elegant 17th-century castle offering gardens & a terrace.
We stayed in one of the appartments and enjoyed it. Very quiet and a lovely view of the castle. We could prepare our own meal and had dinner outside accompanied by one of the peacocks.

It was very nice, walking the grounds. Love the peacocks and the slot looked very interesting. It wasn't open sadly, wish we could have seen more.

Absolutely worth a visit. Very unique, special and dreamy. Love the decor and the peacocks. It has everything a castle should have and you get into the atmosphere and get inspired
Karoline S — Google review
Decided to take a detour to take a look at this castle since reviews said it's worth a visit. No, it's not. At least not if you're not staying overnight, since there is no place to park anywhere and signs denying driving for "unauthorised" vehicles on both entrances. Don't bother if you don't intend to spend the night or spend time finding a decent place to park along these small countryside roads. 1/5 because got a nice glimpse of the castle from the road.

Bogense Havn og Marina, located on the northwest coast of Funen in Denmark, is a picturesque harbor combining the charm of the old fishing harbor with the amenities of a modern marina. The marina boasts 700 berths, making it the largest on the island, and offers facilities such as a playground, fitness area, and nearby sandy beach. Visitors can enjoy various dining options, including fresh seafood at local restaurants, and explore attractions like the mermaid statue "Elle" and the Hans Christian Andersen sculpture. The harbor area is also known for hosting events like live music performances and vintage car meets during the summer months. The Uncovered Bridge

Bridge
The Uncovered Bridge offers a variety of activities for visitors, including sliding down the mountain, playing on a multipurpose pitch, and exploring forest fitness and the Tarzan-track. Originally a railroad bridge, it was abandoned when the railway closed and forgotten for 85 years until it was rediscovered covered in soil. Now restored as a point of interest, it is surrounded by beautiful scenery with hiking trails, benches, restrooms, and the Gudena river running underneath.
Nothing to add to the previous reviews. Nice little place by the water. There is also a public toilet, free parking and you can go on walking further through the forest.
Manu ( — Google review
♿ Entrance = Yes (outdoors) ♿ Parking = Yes ♿ Building = Yes (toilet maybe no) ♿ Elevator = No elevator, it has gravel and dirt path. This is a relaxing piece of nature that you shouldn't miss if you have the chance to visit. I will recommend to go here on a warm day to make the trip worthwhile. There's a free parking lot and accessible for wheelchair users. That being said though, the dirt road could make it challenging if it's soft but it's possible to go all the way down. There is a shortcut with gravel but I wouldn't advise it if you ain't a (good) walker. You can go on the top of the bridge and have a nice view over the water or to the side of it at the lower area. There are some picnic tables and restrooms, a board with a map on it and some other sign boards. This may only be in danish and not in a different language. If I'm not mistaken, the story behind the bridge. That this was used for trains back in the days but after awhile the railroad was closed for about 50 years. The bridge was found and restored and is now used for people.

Really nice spot for a sunny afternoon trip. Old steel bridge uncovered in 2014 and made to a local attraction. Toilets, small bbq pit, tables and benches.

Alexander J — Google review
The kids loved going there this winter with snowy trails through the woods. This used to be a railroad bridge. When the railway closed, the bridge was abandoned and forgotten all about. 85 years later it was found again covered in soil used to fill up the valley. Now the bridge and valley are restored as points of interest. Situated in beautiful surroundings with hiking trails, plenty of benches, restrooms. Enjoy your picnic here by the chuckling Gudenå running under the bridge. Parking possible about 300m from the bridge. Follow the paved trail there . Also visit the old hydroelectric plant Vestbirk Vandkraftværk which is quite close.

Not much to see, but it's a pretty spot where you can enjoy a picnic, cross the water on foot, simply just enjoy the view :) and if you are feeling venturious there is a forest right next to it which can be explored.

Labyrinthia is an entertaining and stimulating destination suitable for people of all ages, offering a variety of mazes and puzzles to explore. Visitors can expect to find different types of mazes including those designed for children, adults, and even dogs. The attraction also features creative options such as a football maze and balance maze. Additionally, there are indoor activities like puzzle-themed board games suitable for all age groups.
This place is aMAZing. So much fun to spend a few hours. We brought our almost 6 year old and they have indoor games and outdoor mazes to jump back and forth. The 3D maze was really cool. Had a great time!

A fun day out for the puzzle / maze / board game orientated family. Several beautiful mazes, some historical reproductions incl the labyrinth from the cathedral of Chartres and a big room full of quality wooden board games. Brilliant. Very reasonably priced food and drinks. Free WiFi, free parking. We stayed almost 5 hrs although the visit could also be done in less than 2.

A world of labyrinths or mazes. Admission on the pricey side, in my opinion. You can download an app to control the water portals in the rosegarden maze to tease your friends and also use it for trophy hunting in the 3d maze. In the building you will find tons of boardgames with a maze theme, and a café with reasonable prices.

Gorgeous place, very big and open. We came at the perfect time of the year when everything was blooming. But there wasn't enough tables to eat at inside the garden. Unless you want to sit with everyone else at a giant table.

I have to say I love this place. But it will not be everyone's cup of old tut and overgrown garden. We were recommended to make this part of a round Fyn experience, with no description of what we might find. And I would kinda recommend that...no pre warning. It's impossible to really explain this place. It just has to be experienced. Several museums with a tilt towards royal memorabilia and florals. Extensive gardens culminating in a lake with own ruin folly and heron. I think that's all I'm gonna give away actually. My favourite tree the Harlequin Glory Bower in full bloom. We went mid August
Yan S — Google review
Wonderful place. We accidentally visited while they were closed but were allowed to walk around. The gentleman who we spoke to was very kind and proficient in English. We came at a time the plants were not blooming, but it was still amazing. We got to see the plants in a different state and learn to identify them by things other than their flowers. The lavender and Japanese lantern were stunning at this time. The apple trees were making buds in an interesting way and the pine cones were forming. An incredible experience, very glad to have come. We will have to come again when they are open and see the plants in another way, in bloom.
