Factory Tours
If you're a car enthusiast, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen is an absolute gem that should be on your travel itinerary. This impressive facility offers guided tours where you can witness the fascinating process of car manufacturing firsthand. With around 5,000 robots working tirelessly to assemble models like the E-Class, GLA, and Maybach, it's a sight to behold!
A super morning spent taking the factory tour! We had a super friendly and informative tour guide called Vilson. He was fantastic!! Made the tour very interesting! We watched a short video showing an aerial view of the plant before getting on the bus to see the robots on the factory floor. There’s some 5000 robots that build the cars here. They manufacture the E-class, GLA, and Maybach and we saw stages of these cars being built. Photos are forbidden during the tour except in the Safety Demo room. We saw the assembly plant and watched the staff do the customisation of each cars on the line. It was fascinating to see how parts arrive just in time (actually 2 hours before installation) and the teams of staff putting them into the cars! Back at the centre, we had lunch and browsed the gift shop!! A fantastic morning and highly recommend!!

Four years have passed since my car went up in flames… and not a single word from Mercedes. No investigation, no concern, no accountability. How could this happen? Why did this happen? It seems those questions don’t matter—because to a company of this size, we, the customers, are not the priority. Our safety? Ignored. Our trust? Shattered. The only thing that truly matters to them is our money.
Yuri — Google review
Terrible experience. We booked the intensive factory tour 3 months in advance. We arranged our whole European visit around this booking. It was going to be the highlight of our trip for our teenager. Mercedes cancelled 5 days before the tour date. Instead we were offered this terrible Discovery Tour which is a bus trip looking at the factory buildings. Ridiculous waste of time. Stay away!

Amazing experience. If you are a car freak then it’s a must visit.
Vidya S — Google review
I work for Mercedes Benz of Los Angeles and came here to pick up a European Delivery vehicle for a customer. First off, the class of service that was provided by the Mercedes Benz staff was AMAZING. I had such a good experience with everyone. The facility is really nice, the tour guides were worth the trip - the trip to this plant really opened my eyes about the brand itself. A LOT more respect for Mercedes Benz and their innovation for vehicles.

I bought a Mercedes Benz GLB 250, 4 months ago. Yesterday, while driving on the highway, when I use the liquid glass cleaner, the viper did not work. This is very dangerous. If this happened in the cold winter of Canada, it would lead to an irreparable accident. I'm really scared to drive this car right now. I dont feel safe with this car and I have three children and I am afraid to put them in the car. I think another part of this car does not work at all times. Please help me. I do not want to pay for a car in which I am not safe

DO NOT BUY MERCEDES-BENZ! I bought a new 2021 e-class 10 months ago and they sold me a car with so many problems that it is undrivable. I contacted everyone, including the factory from germany and after 10 months, i didn't got the money back, or the car fixed, or a replacement. In short, everybody told me to accept the scam, because they will not do anything to help me. So, after 10 months, i have a car that worth almost 100k euro, but i keep it in my parking lot, because i cannot drive it. I don't know how to fix this and nobody want's to fix it. I contacted EVERYONE from Mercedes and Dimnler. No success so far. So don't buy a Mercedes-benz, because it looks that is a common practice to screw customers over and they all say "I can't help you, accept the scam as it is."
Augustin O — Google review
I found the factory incredible, but the tour left a lot to be desired. The information was quite fast-paced and I couldn't get a very good overview on how the machines work because the distances are too far from our sight

V8 Hotel Motorworld Region Stuttgart

Nestled in the historic Art Deco terminal of Stuttgart's original airport, the V8 Hotel Motorworld Region Stuttgart is a dream destination for automotive enthusiasts. This contemporary hotel features uniquely themed rooms that celebrate car culture, with ten out of its 34 accommodations designed around iconic vehicles and automotive motifs. Imagine resting your head on a bed shaped like a classic Volkswagen or Mercedes-Benz!
We enjoyed our stay as a family of four. The cars in and around the hotel were amazing! The room was clean and comfortable and we loved the special touches like the car shaped soap and pens. The staff checking us in at reception were really friendly and happy to answer any questions we had around parking, local eateries etc. A visit to the spa facilities on the top floor was very relaxing and enjoyable. The only thing that would’ve topped the room off would have been a coffee machine in the room, as there was only tea available in the room.
Paul C — Google review
If you are a car enthusiast, this is the place to stay. Close to some amazing dealers and the motor world garage itself. The rooms are nice and airy. The sauna is great. But the service is disappointing. We were missing some towels every day. The waiters don't have a handheld device to take orders, they use paper. This resulted in mistakes and frustrations.
Justin V — Google review
This hotel is incredible, especially the theme rooms. I highly recommend it to all car fans. There are a lot of unique cars to be seen inside and around the hotel. Rooms are large and comfortable. They pay attention to every single details and the car-related decoration within the hotel is amazing. The McLaren shop in the lobby is quite nice as well. The bar/restaurant is good with reasonable price for the hotel.

One of the best hotel experiences we spent, me and my wife. The Themed rooms, the service level, the staff who is very friendly and supportive. I love it. we will come again for sure. Ms. Yasmine on the front desk is an amazing person. She made us want to come again for sure.

What an absolutely fabulous hotel. We had the Gulf themed room which was fantastic. Our air-conditioning wasn't working but they supplied two fans which helped. Staff were great and the cars in the hotel were amazing. We had a fabulous time.

Really cool place to stay. I had one of the theme rooms and it was just too cool. Very large room with an okay view. The place is in the midst of several high end car dealerships which you can wander around and admire some nice vehicles. A few places to eat nearby, but the hotel restaurant was excellent. Prices ate bit higher than many places, but for the cool room and great food was not a bad deal. All the staff I dealt with were very helpful as well.

V8 Hotel, Stuttgart – Car Culture Heaven Wrapped in a Four-Star Stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re even remotely into cars — or if someone close to you is — this hotel isn’t just accommodation, it’s an experience. We stayed for a few days in the Tuner Room, part of the themed set of rooms that the V8 Hotel offers. It's built into the fabric of the place: not just car-themed wallpaper or posters, but full-blown automotive decor woven into the furniture — beds built into chopped shells, racing wheels as tables, and detailing that makes the room feel like a celebration of modified culture rather than a gimmick. The Tuner Room nailed the vibe — a blend of rebellious energy and nostalgic car show glory. This wasn’t a family trip — just the two of us, no kids — marking a milestone birthday with a getaway built around food, driving, and gearhead indulgence. V8 Hotel nailed all three. The location is unbeatable for anyone who lives and breathes horsepower. It’s not just near cool stuff — it is part of it. The hotel is directly connected to a classic car storage facility and auction house, and guests are free to walk through and admire the rotating selection of pristine machines: old Porsches, American muscle, early Benzes, and rare exotics. If you’re the kind of person who finds peace in a quiet showroom filled with history on wheels, this place is spiritual. Across the road, there’s a Harley-Davidson dealership, and above it, one of the most unexpectedly brilliant steakhouses we’ve come across. The vibe is relaxed but cool, and the food is spot-on — hearty, well-cooked, and clearly tailored to the clientele. It’s the kind of place where you can eat a huge steak, drink a German beer, and chat cars with half the tables around you without raising an eyebrow. Local restaurants nearby were all surprisingly well priced, and none of them felt like they were coasting on tourism. Good quality, fresh ingredients, and proper portions. Even the hotel’s own breakfast offering was solid — buffet-style, well laid out, and constantly replenished. Not a soggy croissant in sight. Highlight of the trip? We got lucky. On the Friday night, the local Corvette club rolled in for a meet. A proper group of enthusiasts — varied builds, lovely people, and a seriously healthy mix of vintage and modern ‘Vettes. We sat back with drinks in hand, watching C3s through C8s rumble in, owners chatting, doors open, bonnets up, and the hotel courtyard turned into a full-on mini car show within half an hour. Completely unplanned, but the kind of bonus you hope for when you stay somewhere like this. Parking is plentiful and secure. The entire place is clearly designed around car lovers — but it doesn't feel tacky or try-hard. It’s elegant, considered, and clearly created by people who get it. Would I go back? Without question. Next time I might try a different themed room just for variety, but the Tuner Room will be tough to beat. A perfect mix of automotive culture, creature comforts, and a location that puts you shoulder-to-shoulder with people who love what you love. Whether it’s for a special occasion or just a getaway with a twist, V8 Hotel should absolutely be on the bucket list of every petrolhead.

OUTLETCITY Metzingen

Outlet mall
Shopping
OUTLETCITY Metzingen in Stuttgart is a top shopping destination, attracting a large number of visitors daily. With its vast collection of stores and boutiques covering 5000 square meters, it offers an enjoyable browsing experience for shoppers. As Europe's largest outlet by sales area, it boasts 150 premium and luxury brands with discounts of up to 70% year-round. The mall is known for its best discount times in January, May, and July/August.
Amazing collection of many of the major fashion brands. Very nice location and good services all around! Staff are really helpful, regardless in which shop you are, and prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended if you are nearby.
Wiz — Google review
Nice shopping spot - lots of shops, very well organized and easily accessible. There are a lot of parking spaces. Toilets are accessible and very clean. Everything is organized in such a way that you don't worry about anything and just do your shopping. For the shops themselves I would say that for some things I usually find better deals online. However, there are a lot of people who prefer shopping from outlets.
Plamena M — Google review
A large shopping center with many world-class brand stores at reasonable prices. There is a list of all stores in the photos. Parking is not a problem, there are many parking garages and parking areas. There are cafes, restaurants and bistros. They do their best to ensure the satisfaction of visitors.
Helena — Google review
The OUTLETCITY in Metzingen is one of the big down in Germany. The products are made in china or Africa and the prices are sky-high. The restaurant food is overpriced and even the drinking water is not affordable in this summer and charging 3 euros for a small pet bottle. The Drinks wending machine is not working and you need to buy from only those restaurants.
Praveen R — Google review
Amazing place it is like a village and offers everything (food, coffee, drinks etc.) I couldn’t say that the discounts worth the visit as it is an average 30% minus the initial price. You have to search a lot to find a real offer. It ils also really crowded but that is normal for a place like this. I couldn’t imagine that you have to pay parking fee (2€/hour!!!) in a city outlet where you go to spend money for sure 👎
ΓΙΩΡΓΟΣ Σ — Google review
Best place for shopping, has plenty of parking spot and variety of brands on same street.
Pratiksha R — Google review
The best outlet I’ve been to in Germany. Huge selection of stores and very very large campus to walk around. Loved it. Great deals and I love that they have a midnight shopping event once a month usually, where they stay open till very late at night.
Melissa R — Google review
Good area for shopping brands, sometimes discount mentioned with up to % can be misleading. On weekends or during holidays it is hard to find parking which are close to the shopping area.

Marktplatz, also known as the market square, is a picturesque and historic square located in Tubingen. At its center stands the 15th century Town Hall, featuring an intricately painted facade and a functioning astronomical clock. The square is surrounded by antique buildings and is home to small cafes and restaurants where visitors can enjoy good food, cocktails, and coffee.
A pretty area to hang around . A good number of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Colors of buildings is mesmerizing. Local and international stores are around the place with a beautiful collection of clothes. I would love to visit again soon .

This place is a curious place because of houses that seem to be falling in front of you! The paintings on rathouse are nice because of gold color. You can spend time drinking coffee while the sun sets...

A pleasant marketplace to walk around. We came across a street band playing cheerful music. One of the nice areas to visit when in Tübingen.
Evren B — Google review
Tübingen is only an hour and half from Stuttgart by regional train. The city dates from the 6th or 7th century, when the region was populated by the Alamanni people. The old castle dates from around year 1.000. The city was totally destroyed during the WW but many buildings were restored. We can still see special details from the original constructions. A very typical German town worth visiting.
Sigrid S — Google review
It's a beautiful square surrounded by antique buildings. On and off, there are events such as the Christmas market or currently the "Chocolart", a chocolate themed market.

Amazing place to visit. We arrived during an old town festival with traditional french and Italian products. Many live singers, many small Events great restaurants and lots of crowds. The place to be in every weekend!

Fantastic square with the city hall at its center. The building was started in 1435 and extended over the years. Today you can find a fully preserved medieval square without any damages from WWII. It is a bustling square with many cafés and restaurants.

Schloss Lichtenstein

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
19th-century, cliff-top castle, inspired by a novel, with a chapel & courtyard, plus regular tours.
Parking was amazingly affordable. We loved the availability of places to eat and drink near the castle. For us, this is part of the total experience. The castle itself is beautiful and in a very scenic location. The one downside is the lack of at least one English language tour on the weekend days.
Mark A — Google review
It was cheap to just walk around on the inside for 5 Euros and pay extra to get the tour. I thought that was great that they gave you options. They had a nice store right in-front with food and sold goodies at the ticket booth. Great information booklet in English. And the views were spectacular. Car parking was only 2 Euro and they had lots of various walking areas.
Grace M — Google review
Schloss Lichtenstein feels like something straight out of a fairytale. Built right on the edge of a cliff, the way it sits perched above the valley is absolutely stunning. As you walk up to it, the first thing that strikes you is how dramatic the setting is — the castle looks almost like it’s growing out of the rock itself. Once you’re there, you can’t help but admire the views that open up all around you. The castle isn’t as large as some of the other well-known German castles, but that’s exactly what gives it so much charm. Its smaller size and unique location make it feel intimate and magical at the same time. Walking around, you get the sense of stepping into a storybook, with every angle offering another perfect picture. Compared to other castles I’ve visited in Germany, Schloss Lichtenstein stands out because of its setting. While Hohenzollern impresses with its grand scale and history, Lichtenstein wins you over with its fairytale look and the way it blends into the cliffside. The combination of scenery, architecture, and atmosphere makes it unforgettable. It’s one of those places where you stop, take your time, and just enjoy the moment. For me, visiting Schloss Lichtenstein was a highlight, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a castle that looks like it was lifted straight from the pages of a fairytale.
Rafi S — Google review
Can a book inspire you enough to build a castle based on the book's description? I can clearly understand the feelings of Wilhelm von Urach who was mesmerized by Wilhelm Hauff's book "Lichtenstein" at the point that he ordered to build that castle. This is the essence of the era of German Romanticism – a dream of the times of medieval castles, knights and chivalry. The castle itself is magnificent: it rises directly from the cliff, immediately creating an atmosphere of medieval times. The suspension bridge can rise at any moment, blocking the path to the impregnable castle, while the princess has fallen in enchanted sleep... The exteriors are stunning, you might want to plan more than 3 hours for castle visiting. Don't miss the wooden sculpture of Wilhelm Albert von Urach on the road to the castle. The exteriors can be visited only with guided tour, which lasts around 30 minutes (on German or English, flyers provided). The entrance fee is now 14 euros (it was 12 in May 2024). Taking photos inside is strictly prohibited, which is very unfortunate, as the 193cm long champagne glass looks amazing, as well as the armory and weapons, wooden furniture, decorated walls and painted ceilings. The stained glass in the chapel is interesting, too. The other unfortunate thing is the transport communication. The bus goes to the castle only on Sundays, while on working days you will need to find your way to the castle and from it through the forest where no signs can be found (route from road L230). On the official website of the castle you can find the maps of the tracking paths, but there's no mention about the Honau track being unpassable because of numerous fallen trees. It's humid and slippery in the forest even on warm and dry weather. And again, no signs whatsoever. There is a parking area (2€ for the whole day) very close to the castle, so I strongly recommend reaching to the castle by car. TIP: Don't forget to visit the ruins of Alt Lichtenstein, they are close to the Lichtenstein castle and offer a beautiful view. P.S. Drones are prohibited in the area.
Mariam H — Google review
Lovely gothic castle, worth a visit. We didn't go inside because we had our dog with us, but the outside views and courtyard were worth the very reasonable entry price. Loved the little statues hidden around! Service at the café outside was friendly and the coffee was good too.
Steve H — Google review
An absolutely stunning castle with incredible views! The location on the cliff is breathtaking, and the architecture looks straight out of a fairytale. It’s a beautiful place to wander around, take photos, and just enjoy the atmosphere. Definitely a must-see if you’re nearby! There is a large parking lot nearby to drive up to the castle that costs €2 (you can pay cash to the parking attendant or with card at the nearby cafe if you do not have cash) There’s a small fee to enter the castle grounds, which I found totally worth it for the views alone. You can also pay extra for a guided tour inside the castle, but I just explored the outside area and still had a great experience. I wouldn’t buy tickets in advance, the line at the ticket desk goes down quickly and it’s worth the wait!
Jack F — Google review
Here are a few tips on how to go to the caste with public transport. On Sundays and holidays there are busses that take you directly to the castle without any hiking needed. These busses don’t show in the Google maps, you can check the times using the DB app. It is very easy and simple to find the bus. If you go on a day without a bus directly to the castle, then you need to do the 30min hike. It starts from the bus stop in Honau. The hike to the castle is very easy. A normal active person can do it fine. It is just a trail inside the forest. There was a fallen tree in the middle of the trail, making it a little difficult, but was ok. If you are with kids or with a girlfriend then it is not recommend to take the trail as the fallen tree part is a bit tricky. But if you are a group of guys, go for it! Go get the famous picture of the castle you need to pay to get in the yard (5 Euros). To get inside the castle you also need to pay (More 8 Euros). *I don’t remember the prices exactly. I recommend doing the small tour inside the castle. It was very fun and interesting. The guide was a lady and she did an amazing job! Lastly there are a few restaurants up there and also a big parking lot for cars.
Ricardo F — Google review
Beautiful little castle and rivals Neuschwanstein for that fairy tale style castle feel. The only down side to our visit is that we booked the tour and we were handed a English pamphlet to read as the tour was conducted in German only - except for the guide telling us not to take any pictures inside the castle in English. It was neat to see the interior but wish the guide would did a little bit of it in English or had a separate tour like other stops.

Palais Thermal Bad Wildbad

Thermal baths
Spas & Wellness
Palais Thermal Bad Wildbad is a renowned wellness center in Germany, known for its Moorish-inspired architecture and modern amenities. Once frequented by royalty, it continues to offer a regal experience with its indoor and outdoor saunas, therapeutic baths, and various massages and body treatments. Visitors can choose from a variety of pools and saunas with different temperatures. While initially hesitant about the clothing-optional policy on certain floors, many guests eventually embrace the experience.
Speaking English staff. Very clean compared to spa in Hungary. So well done 👏 quite, parking included, we only paid €1 for 3 hours, which is like free 😉 Also, in the Spa BW they have naked zones, which first i found quite oddly, but then I went with the flow and it's very liberating, I absolutely loved it. They have everything from big pool to small ones with hot water of 38'C, which is perfect for humans. Steam rooms, aromatherapy room, selection of different temperatures saunas. Highly recommended, excellent value for money. It is very relaxing and has a quiet experience. 💙🇩🇪

Reading the various reviews, we weren’t sure WHAT to expect! Indeed, we met the surly ladies at the desk, having arrived during a Sunday afternoon rush when they kept holding the line until other people came out . (Apparently, they ran out of lockers!) I’m amused that so many people complain about the nudity, given that you’re at a sauna in Germany! You’re allowed to wear a swimsuit in the historic part of the spa and in the super warm “blue pool.” It was about 70/30 naked during our visit. The sauna area and rooftop pool (not to be missed!!!) is 100% nude. Honestly, of all the places we’ve been, it felt weird to have swimsuits allowed alongside nudity. It sort of makes EVERYONE feel conspicuous. 🤷‍♂️ The place is an amazing labyrinth of nooks and crannies to explore. And I agree with the people who wish the warm pools in the historic section were warmer. 34•C is not very warm! I’m sure we’ll make our way back one day!

Fluffy towels and robes are provided for your use during your stay. The spa is excellent. The varied aufguss schedule runs hourly, we loved both the ice tea and music sessions and the varied scents used. The Moorish room is such a beautiful place to enjoy lunch. We had pizza and flamenkuchen - both reasonably priced and delicious. It was great to learn more about the history of the spa - thankfully a lady who spoke English translated it for us. It would be appreciated to have a version orinted in English to read and enjoy for those of us who speak German badly. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We left refreshed and rejuvenated.
Paul B — Google review
Firstly the interior is absolutely the stunning from the tiles and statues to the stained glass - all beautiful. The behavior we witnessed by other patrons was confronting, multiple individuals and couples were being sexually inappropriate with one another in public spaces. It made us extremely uncomfortable as we were there to relax. There were no staff members supervising/policing said rules. There was one particular male sitting on a water jet and moaning loud enough for staff at the cafe to hear and nothing was done. Note that you must be completely nude for the sauna, staff do not explicitly tell you this when you pay so if you’re not comfortable being nude (after what we saw there was no way we were) don’t bother adding it onto your pass. We will not be back. Stars provided as the interior is stunning. perhaps if we went on another day and people were acting like respectful members of society we would’ve had a phenomenal time. Alas this was not the case.

Calais thermal bad was simply amazing and relaxing! The facility is super well maintained and very clean, which wins mega plus point! ..Also the personnel is very helpful, friendly and professional! Pro tip: Mon-Fri. Palais opens only afer 1300h..The location is nested in the small town of Badwild Bad, Northern Blackforest, absolutely beautiful place to unwind and find your peace of mind! Best wishes! IH

AMAZING place. We come once a year from the United States. Note, 90% of what is accessible is cloning free - not optional. If you want to just relax in a warning bath there are rooms downstairs but if you want to enjoy the real saunas it is “textile” free - meaning you can walk around in a robe but when you go in you must be nude. When inside you bring a towel to sit on, but that’s it. Life is short, try it out! Literally no one cares what you look like inside.
Kim M — Google review
Very nice thermes! The ground floor is only bath and very relaxing with big and small baths with different temperature. The saunas are on the higher floors and have all a different vibe. There is a bar and restaurant allowing you to have a drink and grab a bite easily during your stay.

This place is amazing. I spent a whole day here. The baths are very special. Beautiful. I was lucky to have the sunshine on my side and spent most of my day relaxing upstairs on the roof terrace and popping into the saunas and the pool. Can't wait until I can go back

Hohenzollern Castle

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Perched on a mountaintop in Hechingen, Germany, Hohenzollern Castle is a 19th-century architectural gem that houses an impressive art collection and the crown of the Prussian king. Unlike its more famous counterparts, this fairy-tale castle offers a quieter and less crowded experience for visitors. Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Black Forest region, it's a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and admirers of picturesque castles.
great place to spend the day. inside the castle is a picturesque restaurant with a local seasonal dishes. dessert Strudel is a super big and delicious dessert, with the signature castle decoration. the castle is on a mountain, be prepared for it to be a bit more chilly and possibly windy at the top. we were not prepared, but the great sweatshirts from the brand store saved us 👌🏻

Visiting Hohenzollern Castle was one of those experiences that really stays with you. As we made our way up and started walking around the outdoor observation areas, the view simply took my breath away. The valley stretches out endlessly, and from the castle walls it feels like you’re standing above the world. It’s the kind of view that makes you stop, breathe, and just take it all in. The castle itself is just as impressive as the scenery. It stands tall and majestic, with an atmosphere that carries centuries of history. Walking through it, you can almost feel the presence of the people who once lived there and the important role this place played. Every hallway and corner has a story, and when you step back outside to those sweeping views, it all ties together beautifully. I’ve seen a number of castles in Germany — each with their own charm — but Hohenzollern stood out in a way that felt different. It wasn’t just about the architecture or the history alone; it was the combination of both with its stunning location on top of the hill. That mix of breathtaking scenery and deep history makes it one of the most memorable castles I’ve ever visited. If you’re traveling in the area, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s the kind of place you’ll remember long after you leave.

I loved how they still kept history alive for viewing and provided a free app guided tour. The shuttle to the castle from the parking lot, gift shops and bathrooms in both the castle and parking lot, and restaurants made the tour convenient. But the best parts were the view of nearby lands and beautiful artifacts.
Julia K — Google review
This was a wonderful experience and this castle does not disappoint with sheer beauty located at the top of the mountain. I got lovely photos and videos. There is shuttle bus to the top and an app that gives you an audio tour. There are also many guides on site to answer questions and give you more history. There is a gift shop with beautiful souvenirs and an on site restaurant/bar/cafe. Well worth the visit and I recommend buying advance tickets which are slightly discounted. I also rented a super car on this trip and the drive from Stuttgart was scenic and so much fun in a performance car. Also recommend the drive.

This is a beautiful castle! It is very well maintained. The walk through is nice, and the museum area is really neat too. There's a beautiful outdoor seating area with a beer garden/restaurant. We had lunch and coffee there. We also visited with a baby, and read ahead of time not to bring a stroller due to stairs and tight spaces. So we used a baby carrier instead and it worked perfectly! This is a must visit castle if you're anywhere close in the vicinity. The view looking down is also beautiful.
Kasey S — Google review
One of the biggest castles in Stuttgart. This is well-maintained, and the shuttle bus is a great option for the elderly and those with mobility issues. But you will get the best experience if you walk to the castle from the bottom.

Wonderful! It has such a cozy, homey vibe. It’s so great that the family is still preserving it and sharing it with the public. I do recommend downloading the tour app if you want all the detailed history of the castle.

Hohenzollernschloss Sigmaringen

Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Renaissance chateau owned by Hohenzollern family, built on a 1200 castle. Visit by guided tour.
Easy to reach by car, with parking available right next to the entrance—though it can fill up quickly. No worries though, as there are plenty of paid parking spots just 200 meters away along the street. The €15 entrance fee is definitely worth it. The castle is beautiful, rich in history, and especially impressive if you’re into weaponry—there’s an extensive collection of swords, rifles, and pistols on display. The visit is enhanced by a free audio guide available in multiple languages, which makes the experience both informative and engaging.

19th century castle built on hill on top of the Danube river. from hohenzollern royal family. it holds different rooms to discover, and a weapon hall. mostly medieval decorations. better to take the Audio guide and walk alone freely then to wait for the guided tour. impressive and astonishing furnished rooms.

We visited this wonderful castle yesterday. What a stunning castle with a long and rich history. The staff when purchasing tickets were extremely friendly. We had no problem purchasing tickets on the day. We took a self guided tour and it was very well done. Amazing history and the castle rooms are just stunning. The Armory and coach museum were very cool as well. Horse drawn carriages going back hundreds of years. This castle dominates the skyline in Sigmaringen and is just stunning. We loved our visit and highly recommend.

I haven't visited many castles but this one was everything that I hoped for. The grandure of the castle is quite explicit in the composition of the interior decor. The historical items, which have seen hundreds of years, made me feel privileged to share this moment with them. The audio tour device was helpful and gave comprehensive information about the rooms and items in the rooms (too much information for me to absorb in a couple hours).

Outstanding location for viewing medival hand held weapons and armour body suits. Best armoury in the nation and likely the EU. Owned by a current day nobleman of descent. Long drive to get to. No free parking. Petrol stations in town. No human english tour guides. Phenomenal tourist site for castle lovers.

It is definitely one of the most underrated castles in Germany. It is no lesser than other castles. Parking is available nearby and the sales area in the castle has a great collection. The employees were extremely friendly and polite.

Great castle to tour and come visit. Not crowded and inexpensive. It’ll take about 2hours to tour. Audio guides are free. Nearby there are plenty of places in the small town to eat and a walking trail across the water.

Alternative Wolf and Bear Park Black Forest

Animal protection organization
Nature & Parks
Open-air animal park with a pedestrian loop, featuring bears, wolves & lynxes in a forested habitat.
As long as you remember that this is not a zoo, but a caretaking place for neglected animals, you’ll have a great time for a reasonable price. Don’t expect to be entertained, or spend hours here. Don’t expect a guarantee to see all the animals either. It’s NOT a zoo. All the happier you’ll be when you, like me, get lucky and spot the animals at their ‘curious’ moments. Great value, worth a little detour. I loved it and the wonderful work these people do. I’d recommend considering a visit of roughly 2 hours for most people. Families with children maybe slight longer because of the facilities (playground, restaurant). Photographers might even spend a whole day here, depending on their patience for an animal to strike a pose.
Mavic T — Google review
A special place to visit to see all the bears, wolves, and other rescued animals. The bears were out and about, but all the other animals were in hiding. The place has a nice cafe/restaurant at the entrance. It's worth the drive if you love bears (animals).
אדי ל — Google review
Wonderfully managed and do fulfil a great purpose - bears, wolves and lynx rescued from zoos, circus and private ownership, and allowing them to live cared for in a natural habit. Not a huge site, and won't take more than 1-2 hours to look around it all, but still worth a visit to see their great work.
Ken F — Google review
We visited on a weekend arrived not long after opening and got straight in paid with card on arrival. It is not very well signposted of their os a particular route to take around the park and it seemed some enclosures were under maintanence. The welfare of the animals seemed good and they have space to remain hidden so will not always be possible to see them. A nice place for a walk around onsite cafe is reasonable for snacks. Organic options is good too.
Nicola — Google review
A park for bears, wolves and lynxes rescued from despicable circumstances. Thus, do not expect the typical feed-till-they drop wild animal park here, but large areas for animals that can hide well from visitors and the expectation of absolute silence from visitors. Smoking is also prohibited, which makes the visit much much pleasurable.
Lars L — Google review
a very beautiful park with bears, wolves and lynx. the animals have a lot of space and cover, but it's still possible to see them from the path. signs along the route give you information about each individual animal. when you're in the area, go take a look!

Loves meeting them all along with taking beautiful pictures along the way! The bear restaurant has nice ice cream too!

Black Forest Open Air Museum

Mentioned on

Open air museum
Museums
The Black Forest Open Air Museum is a recreated village farm from the 16th-18th centuries, featuring authentic buildings such as a storehouse, bakery, mills, and crafts. The museum also includes the Castle of Wolfach, one of the oldest in the region with exhibits on local history and rafting. Visitors can explore historic farm buildings and learn about life in past centuries. The museum offers workshops demonstrating activities like laundry washing and pottery making.
We stopped at the Black Forest Open Air Museum in Gutach late one afternoon during our Black Forest road trip, and even though we didn’t have time to go inside and explore all the exhibits, we still really enjoyed the atmosphere around the entrance. We drove there by car and had no problem finding parking right near the entrance, which was super convenient. The museum is set in beautiful surroundings with green hills and old farmhouses scattered around the property, giving you a glimpse of what’s waiting inside. Since we arrived too late to make the most of the full experience—the museum closes at 6 PM with last entry at 5 PM—we decided to slow down and enjoy what was still open. We browsed the souvenir shop, which had plenty of local handmade items, traditional gifts, and a few quirky finds that made us smile. After that, we grabbed a cold beer and some proper German currywurst at the kiosk right next to the beer garden seating area. Sitting there under the trees, enjoying the food and the relaxed vibe, actually turned out to be a great little memory from our trip. The setting is beautiful, and even without entering the museum itself, it felt like a worthwhile stop. Next time, we’d definitely plan to arrive much earlier to explore the historic farmhouses and exhibitions in full. So if you’re planning a visit, make sure to give yourself a good couple of hours to enjoy everything this place has to offer.

Great place to see how people lived and worked in previous years. I enjoyed seeing building construction, live demonstrations, and local animals. It was amazing how hard people worked just to live and possibly use extra products for sale and income. There is a nice relaxing restaurant in the entrance area with tasty food and drinks, served by excellent friendly staff. Plenty of parking. This facility is appropriate for adults, kids, and groups. This is a large, hilly facility but with nice views. If you have a few hours, this is a good experience.

A fascinating look at rural life in the Black Forest. A huge area with a number of farmhouses, all set up with very interesting displays and information boards, with German, French and English versions. Amazing to walk through farmhouses built in the 1500's and get a real sense of what it would have been like to live and work here hundreds of years ago. We spent 4 hours and could have spent much longer.
Malcolm D — Google review
Loads to find out about from Farmhouses in use since the C17th, through to places last used in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Spent about 4.5hrs wandering around on a changeable day of weather. Excellent wine, especially the young wine. Superb restaurant food. I had the Pumpkin soup, which was really good.
Trevor W — Google review
This open air museum is like stepping back in time! It's a large museum located in the Black Forest where you can wander around freely to see how they used to live in the region during different eras. You can enter each building and see inside homes. It is like stepping inside someone's house which is very unusual! I really like how they made it so real. It's fascinating! Everything is translated in French, English and Spanish I think. So you can learn more about how they used to live and the history of the region. There's also some animals around the museum like bunnies, cows, donkeys or chickens. Some of them could use a bigger space though like the bunnies and the cows. But other than that, it seems they're taking a good care of them which is important.
Melanie M — Google review
Beautiful setting with many historic buildings and traditional furnishings. The demonstration of bobbing lacing and shoe making were very informative.
Elke B — Google review
Interesting historical displays in original farm houses from around the Black Forest. I particularly enjoyed meeting the pigs and sampling traditionally brewed schnapps.
Amy T — Google review
The museum contains historic buildings in their original locations and relocated from their original sites. The learning experience was engaging as we walked through the simulated environments and imagined life in the time period. Exhibit captions in multiple languages provided insights and details into the design and use of the buildings. I wanted to spend more time reviewing the museum exhibits.

Spa and health center Solemar Bad Duerrheim

Wellness center
Spas & Wellness
Spas
Solemar Thermal Baths are fantastic, the highest salt baths in Europe with the water always 33 degrees, whether indoor or outdoor. A few hours in the salt baths has a real rejuvenating effect on the body. This was our second visit and we stay in the Womo Stellplaz next door. We had intended to stay a few days to take in the thermal baths and the town so when we arrived on May 5th to discover a special offer that was a treat. For a three night stay, including electric hook up and a daily 3 hour visit to the baths the price of €17 per day was amazing value. Bad Duerrheim is a lovely town with two beautiful Kurparks for lots of walking. We had a wonderful time and would live to return.

For a full day, of almost every service you can get, we paid 60 EUR in total. That included, a 3 hours stay in the all the pools and all saunas. As well as 2 big body towels, and finally a 1 hour stay in the salt caves (photos attached). Great experience, great service, highly recommended. A real therapeutic experience
Hussam C — Google review
Nice big pools, temperature was great, free parking, excellent and clean facilities. But unhappy staff and way too overcrowded - there seems to be 0 control as to how many people are let in. We were like sardines & chairs were blocked by the towels of people who were IN the pool! Please go check out the Therme in Thonon les Bains, France & you will understand why your massage- Düsen are actually quite unpleasant - the air coming from underneath and so strong is not nice at all. If it was coming from the side / from the walls - that would have been a different story. 3* cos I loved the Salzgrotte, which is amazing!
M T — Google review
The venue offers free parking, reasonable price and has good staff. Hopefully, there won't be any issues with the lockers. Shower queues were manageable, and there was enough space for everyone when we visited on Friday.

Simply amazing. I will surely come back. Different type of pools, hot and cold water.

READ THIS COMMENT BEFORE YOU GO!!! My wife and I decided to go to this “Therme” after reading online on their website what they are offering and seeing the pictures. After getting there it was NOT at all what they advertised. When I go to a Therme I want to enjoy HOT natural water, NOT high cold chlorine water which I can go to a regular hotel. They actually had the water advertised “1 degree” cooler because of “electric” being expensive. I believe every customer pays for a service and we would rather pay higher or the price they advertise to enjoy and experience something I expect from them. The large pool that said was 34 degrees was not more than 29-30, I went talked to the personnel and he agreed the water is heated and not more than that. Which is when we decided that neither of the pools were hot only barley warm to go get out and talk with the front desk about the situation. After talking with the personnel why the water is so cool with only one pool salted and rest was high in chlorine which was really disappointing and not what “natural Therme” are we asked them to refund us are money and to leave. We only stayed 15 min and paid for a full day, they did not want to give us anything back and kept arguing why the water is so cold because the electricity and they won’t do anything. This is called being “thieves” and showing very poor customer service!!! I would never recommend and quite the contrary tell other NOT to go here. There are SO MANY other beautiful THERME in the area within distance that would offer so much more and actually care about their customers.
Cristian C — Google review
Good variety of activities like hot and cold tubs, sauna, mist room, indoor and outdoor connecting pool with massage jets, waterfalls, etc. The changing and showering rooms are pretty standard and clean. Nice Biergarden with good food and bier menu as well as seating and “beach” area. Good cafeteria with seating with umbrellas. The freshwater pool was out of order but seemed vey small.
Marcus S — Google review
I was on holiday in germany for two weeks and I visited this pool twice. I would have happily visited more times if it was closer to the town I stayed in. This is a beautiful pool. With the indoor and outdoor areas, jets, lazy river, showers and bubbles, there is plenty to do. I had never been in a salt bath before. The salt water soothed my dry skin. It's like a full-body spa. I usually need to moisturise after showering, but I didn't have to after this. It's so easy to float and relax, especially in the indoor hot pool. I could live there. The food is great too, and reasonably priced. Drinks are a bit expensive, but they always are in germany. I would definitely recommend visiting.

Located in Triberg, Germany, the House of 1000 Clocks is a must-visit attraction known for its eccentricity and impressive collection of cuckoo clocks. The shop features a giant cuckoo clock and oversized bears on its exterior, making it hard to miss. Despite being considered a tourist trap, the store offers a wide range of clocks in various styles and prices. Visitors can admire the craftsmanship displayed on the jam-packed walls while exploring traditional and kitsch masterpieces.
We happened to pass by this store on our way to Baden-Baden. Although it wasn’t part of our original plan, we were drawn in by its charming exterior, so we pulled over to take a look. Inside we discovered a stunning shop that mainly sells a wide variety of cuckoo clocks, along with some souvenirs.

House of 1000 Clocks was a great experience from start to finish. The owner handled everything perfectly, from the purchase to the shipping. The package was packed really well and shipped by UPS, and it actually arrived in the U.S. even before we got back home. The clock works like a charm so far, and I couldn’t be more excited about buying it. It feels special knowing we got it from one of the clock-making shops right in the heart of the Black Forest. I’m sure both me and my wife will enjoy this clock for years, and hopefully it’ll last long enough for my kids to enjoy it too. Overall, amazing experience, I highly recommend this place. Big thanks to the management for the fast shipping and for taking such good care of the package.

An amazing cuckoo clock and souvenir shop in Triberg, Germany. The complete collection of clocks is mind blowing to say the least. Price is on the expensive side, for handcrafted clocks in traditional craftsmanship is sure to bore a hole on your purse. The shop caters to small souvenirs for tourists to collectors of rare artefacts. Must visit location in Triberg.

If you’re looking for authentic German cuckoo clocks, this is the perfect place! They offer a wide variety— with different makers, sizes, and price points—so there’s truly something for everyone. Walking in can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but the staff are incredibly knowledgeable. Rebecca was especially helpful—she shared interesting details about the history of the clocks, the craftsmanship behind different makers, and how the mechanisms work. While the shop also carries other knickknacks, the cuckoo clocks are definitely the star of the show. Whether you’re shopping on a large or small budget, this place is incredible!
Maeve K — Google review
I contacted Customer Service of House of 1000 Clocks by email to get some information on a clock purchased from them in the late 70s, brought back to the U.S. but never used. I did get an auto response saying I would be contacted in 3 to 4 business days. A month went by and nothing, so I reached out again and was emailed a short list of U.S. based clock repair shops? I would have thought that they might have been intrigued by this, a clock of theirs, nearly 50 years old a time capsule. Yeah, think about it, which former employee may have made it in the old "Cold War" days when they were in West Germany. Its a shame there isn't pride in the workplace anymore.

With over 30 aquariums spanning 3,000 square meters, visitors can marvel at more than 3,000 freshwater and saltwater fish as well as various sea creatures like sharks, rays, and sea turtles. The attraction provides an opportunity for both kids and adults to discover the underwater world without getting wet.
Went here with my parents to show them something nice in Konstanz ,didn't knew the existence of a aquarium so close to where I live and I had to visit it ,went there in a Saturday it was incredibly crowded ! BUT the content inside is amazing ,so many pretty fishes some big and ugly ,the ocean recreations in small tanks is incredible ,it's like watching a small part of the deep ocean just in front of you ! It's very large ,it even has a kinda glass tunnel where the fish ,sharks and even sea turtles can be seen crossing above you ! So cool! The entry for wheelchairs is easy there is a large ramp but some parts inside have stairs might be difficult to move ,dunno if there is someone who helps or alternative rout at the end there is a gift shop with plushies and other stuff also is where the nature museum is just go up the stairs and you will be at that museum ( yes in the gift shop)

Disappointing. It is so overpriced for the variety of species you can see there. There is nothing special at all. It’s so small and that I really couldnt believe that was all. I had an okay experience at the aquarium. While there were lots of fish to see, I felt bad for the penguins because their space seemed quite small. Triberg Waterfalls, touted as one of Germany's highest waterfalls, is a must-visit attraction in Triberg. Although it may not hold the title for the absolute highest waterfall in Germany, standing at 162 meters tall and cascading down 7 steps into the valley below, it certainly offers an impressive sight. Accessible via a hiking trail, this paid attraction has managed to preserve its natural beauty.
A must-visit in the heart of the Black Forest! Triberg Waterfall impresses with its seven-tiered cascades and lush forest setting. The trails are well-marked, family-friendly, and offer stunning photo spots. While it’s not a single dramatic drop, the natural charm, fresh mountain air, and occasional squirrel sightings make it a memorable stop. 🎒📸 💡 Tip: Go early or during off-peak hours for a peaceful experience. Don’t miss the night illumination if you’re around in the evening!

The student ticket costs 0.50€ less than the usual adult tickets The waterfalls is absolutely beautiful and you can hike all the way to the top for different views. There are various hiking trails to explore the entire area. Sometimes you'll get to see the endemic red squirrel.
Manidip M — Google review
An easy nature trail accessible with asphalt, but its elevation is not easy for those who have difficulty walking or strollers. Relatively reasonable entrance prices. Most of it is shaded and pleasant. The entire trail and the beauty you see in the waterfall of the humpbacked trees are very beautiful and a highly recommended place.

Amazing waterfall. Entry fee - 8€ per adult. Card payment accepted. WC facility is there. Easy and steep paths are there to go to the top of waterfall.

Stunning, the immediate walk to the waterfall is 8 min max. You can walk more at different hiking intensities higher up the waterfall. Great pathways up the trail

The Triberg Waterfalls are really beautiful and worth seeing! The views are amazing, and the walk through the forest feels fresh and peaceful. You can take great photos and enjoy nature all around. However, the entry fee felt a bit high for such a short walk, and the place can get quite crowded, especially on weekends. Parking can also be tricky if you come late. Overall, it’s a lovely place to visit once — great for nature lovers, but be ready for a bit of a crowd and some walking uphill.
Abhishek T — Google review
The ticket (8€ per adult) also gives you access to a few other museums (so do this one first!). Dog friendly. Pretty waterfall. A bit of a slow and steady hike up to the top. Lots of people with camera tripods capturing the perfect pics.
Adele P — Google review
Visited the waterfalls for free. Get on the path to the Froschbrunnen (Frog Fountain), ignoring all signs saying no path to the waterfalls. Once at the Frog Fountain take the right-most path from it & stay on this as it curves left around the hill & you will eventually see the swarms of tourists down below you on the lower waterfall paths. Take the first available path down to join the path around the waterfalls. You can either exit back the way you came, or go out through the turnstile that the paying tourists come through at the bottom of the waterfalls.

Tranquil spring next to a palace, considered by some to be the birthplace of the Danube River.
A beautiful place that has a special meaning for me, starting to know this river from the other end... Being able to get here it is a dream come true to me.

I had always wanted to visit this tranquil little place, the source of mighty river Danube! It was open for public, no entrance fee whatsoever, it was just a small part of a huge park, you access it from the street with the stairs or small elevator.. the church next door had a terrace overlooking the pond..anyway parking was kind of difficult

Visiting the Source of the Danube was a fascinating experience. It’s very interesting to see where this famous river begins, knowing that it travels over 2,800 km and passes through many Eastern European countries before reaching the Black Sea. The site itself is simple but meaningful, and it’s worth a stop if you enjoy history, geography, or just learning unique facts about Europe.

As a romanian citizen i could say this visit is something special for me. You can find a parking place before the palace starts in front of the school in weekend. Walk 5 min until the top on the. On thw other side is a shop where you can buy souvenirs and ask the nice guy for a map. where can you visit "the other side" where the 2 rievers meet about 15 20 min. A beautiful place to walk in nature

Very interesting. It was raining on the day we visited so difficult to tell that the spring was really springing. No entrance fee which was nice.

Was nice to see where danube starts from. A shame that the lights are not turned on every night. Was hoping to see it lit up but eventually I found out they only turn them on on special occasions.

Perfect place to visit in Singen. If you like walking, I recommend going on foot from the bottom. Climb is not that challenging, you have asphalt almost all the way up. There is also one path trough the forrest. Tickets you can buy only by that museum with a parking lot and that is also last point you can reach by a car. Beautiful view at the top, also some picnic tables and small coffee shop on the entrance area. Would definitely recommend.

Wutachschlucht

Hiking area
Nature & Parks
Scenic 33km-long river valley with imposing gorges & dense forestry, with popular hiking trails.
It’s a very rewarding hike for how easy it is! There isn’t a lot of elevation and we did see many families with kids and even dogs, but at the same time it’s an exciting trail, very naturey, beautiful views, cliffs surrounding you and several waterfalls. It’s not a strenuous trail but I would definitely recommend hiking shoes as it can be VERY slippery and the terrain is quite uneven.
Ivana G — Google review
Nestled in the heart of the Black Forest, the Wutach Gorge is an absolute must-visit for any nature enthusiast. My recent trip there left me utterly enchanted, and I can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment you step onto the trails, you're transported into a verdant wonderland. The sheer scale of the gorge is awe-inspiring, with towering cliffs draped in moss and ancient trees. The Wutach River itself is a mesmerizing companion throughout the hike, its crystal-clear waters cascading over rocks and forming serene pools. The sound of the rushing water, combined with rustling leaves and birdsong, creates a symphony of nature that is incredibly calming and invigorating. What truly sets the Wutach Gorge apart is its incredible biodiversity. The air is fresh and clean, filled with the scent of damp earth and wildflowers. It's a place where you feel truly connected to the natural world. The trails are well-maintained and offer options for different fitness levels, though some sections can be quite steep – definitely bring good hiking boots! Every step is rewarded with stunning vistas and new discoveries. Whether you're an avid hiker seeking adventure or just looking for a peaceful stroll, the Wutach Gorge delivers. It's a place that rejuvenates the soul, leaving you feeling refreshed, inspired, and deeply appreciative of nature's wonders.
Zain S — Google review
Exceptionally green and pretty. Especially up the other side of the path towards the waterfalls. It is however difficult to get into the gorge from any other direction than the main car park. I got lost and onto some very poor overgrown trails from trying to enter from the west. So definitely enter and exit from the car park to the East.
Josh L — Google review
Hiked it in full, from Achdorf to Kappel. It is nice but not amazing. Not enough of the path is near the river. Some beautiful areas (look for otters!) but also a lot of parts that are not memorable.
L.Robert1991 — Google review
Not really the best attraction in Schwarzwald. The trail feels partly unsafe, boring, and directions are pathetic. The trail is highly scattered and difficult to find the most scenic spots. The website "Hochschwarzwald" must provide more and better directions and information. We were misled and drove to a wrong parking spot where directions were really bad. I had to ask around to get to the right spot. There are much better places to visit in Schwarzwald.
Vishal G — Google review
It’s so beautiful in there! It’s a short trip so you won’t be spending the whole day. But maybe half a day including the area around is a great activity! Totally worth the admission ticket.
Chetan B — Google review
The Wutach River is a great stage for hikes and offers beautiful scenery for the eyes. Make sure to select a hike that follows the river closely to avoid public roads (I dislike asphalt during hikes and if you're not careful you can spend a lot of time on these in this area), this will allow you to make the most of the wonderful flora in the area. Don't forget to dress properly (good hiking shoes of category B at least are especially welcome) and bring enough water, as some of the hikes can be quite challenging.
Lars — Google review
Woooow what a hike, I did a hike of 5 hours and 17,50km in this area. My feet started to hurt else I would like to see more of this beautiful place. There is just so much to see, up and down on different paths. Where it can be unsafe there are steel fences and ropes. Saw a lot of ravens too and some other animals that you don’t see everyday. We wanted to take a bus at the nearest stop, but remember they do not ride that often so we had to walk our way back to the car. So don’t make the same mistake as me, go take the bus to the end and walk back to the car, instead of walking and take the bus back. Plan your hike. Beside that, what a place.

Very much enjoyed the wellness area. Visited many times while on long stay work trip. Staff was friendly and respectful. Multiple sauna types and relaxation areas to enjoy. Website is helpful and accurate. The 90C sauna ceremony is incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. Bravo to the staff’s endurance performing these ceremonies multiple times a day! Very nice addition to the experience. The larger than expected cold water bath allows for extended dunking. Textile free and 16+ age requirement makes for more enjoyable experience than some other spa/saunas have visited in Switzerland that did not have this age requirement. As well, the all day access is appreciated with not having to feel rushed by a time limit. Salt pool on rooftop is nice ambiance. Also enjoyed the regular pool with underwater bicycles. Will certainly visit again on future trips.

One of the most confusing spa experiences I’ve ever had. As we were just visiting the area, we had never been there before. First of all, the google maps address leads to a completely different place. Secondly, once we get inside we had no idea what is located where. We just see random old naked people walking back and forth until we realize that right in front of us the wall is actually a sign with arrows and names of the different areas but it is all in a bright green color on a light -wood-brown background that you can barely see. I have to say, the signing and direction placement is quite bad in all the spa area. I guess if you are a local then it does not matter because you have been there more than once. For a newcomer - quite unpleasant. The wood burning sauna is actually great but the seating is always quite hot and don’t try sitting outside of the reach of your towel. We found the other spa guests quite grumpy and rude just because my partner did not feel comfortable taking down her swimsuit with some of the unfit and creepy people staring. The steam sauna is one of the warmest I have been in so extra points for that. The salt-room is also a nice and quite place we found to relax in a more private space. The saltwater rooftop pool is quite nice too but the view is quite like nothing - just like looking at the backyard of lidl. The whole experience of spa for us is to find a place of peace and a bit privacy whereas in this spa it felt there is basically no place to find privacy and calm. For moments in the salt room and the saltpool. But the rest of the area there is always someone somewhere who is looking at you showering or changing clothes etc. As a man I dont care about anyone looking but I do feel for the women in this situation. Overall the interior and feel felt a bit oldish, a bit cheap. And on top, it is a pitty you pay the whole 40.- and it doesnt matter how long you stay - 1 hour or 5 hours. We would have easily left after 1 hour but after such a pricing strategy we decided to try all the areas out. Either way, the spa definitely was not worth the 40 Francs. If you go to a gym and use other services there, then maybe..

The center allows guests to touch and engage with most of the displays, providing a fantastic experience for everyone. Additionally, there are specific experiments conducted by trained staff members.
This is one of the best museums I have ever been. The ticket price is totally worth it! It is literally for everyone from 1 till 100 years, lot of fun, games, activities and learning along the way! Been there twice, and definitely will go the third time! While planning the day at the museum, plan at least 4-5 hours. You can have your backpack with you, so water and snacks is also a good idea.

Amazing Day In an Incredible Museum On a rare day when my children were off school (but all other schools were open) we visited Technorama and had an amazing day. There were only a few visitors, but enough to seem alive and the weather was perfect for visiting the outside area. The museum itself is so well made and organized. The number of engaging exhibits and well-done live shows/demonstrations will keep people of all ages busy all day. Special recognition goes to the restaurant staff for the freshly made food and the extremely friendly interaction during our lunch. We waited years for the children to be old enough to appreciate the museum - we won't wait so long before our next visit.
Robert M — Google review
It’s so big, hours of entertainment for the kids in all different science categories with hand on experiment exhibits. There’s also a restaurant on site, plus an outdoor area with more exhibits. We spent 3.5 hours and didn’t get to do the outside area before closing, and we weren’t super slow going through the exhibits either.
Julia L — Google review
This is hands down the best science museum that I’ve ever been to - everything was hands-on and interactive and really snuck in the science in a way that makes learning enjoyable. We spent almost 5 hours exploring the space with a 4 year old and could have easily spent more. The food in the cafeteria was pretty good, and I liked that you paid for the pasta by weight so you could take a smaller portion and not waste food. 10/10 way to spend a rainy day

Very fun place to explore but need time is very imformative if we really read and study what is all these. Kids and adult both can have fun. High recommend full day here if you like science. Is very worth it
Raycher L — Google review
Very interesting place. Perfect for kids in school age. Easily you can spend complete day or even more discovering different subjects of science.
Grzegorz L — Google review
I love this museum. The kids enjoy it as well. The only two downsides are: it is loud and expensive. You can wear headphones against the noise and use an SBB voucher if you have a Swisspass. You should bring your own food. There is a nice picnic area. You can spend 5 hours here easily. The museum is best for kids between 6 to 14. Plan well for the labs and bring 2 CHF or 2 EUR for a fun game at the door to the outside.

Wonderful, natural animal park. Beautifully laid out, partly in the forest. The entire animal park can be visited via a circular route. The park is well maintained, clean and the information (in German) about the animals and the park is very well presented. A playground next to the restaurant invites children to play. With a bit of luck you will see the wolves.

Look, the Wildpark Bruderhaus is another example where animals are kept behind fences. Yes. But do they have ample space? Seemingly so. Nevertheless, what makes the Wildpark so special for us are different things. 1. It is 14 minutes away from the Winterthur train station by public transport. Talk about cool and smooth. 2. It is basically built into/surrounded by a forest where you can just walk and enjoy being in nature. Again, so close to the train station? How cool. 3. A decent restaurant to get a good bite. We write about it in a separate review more in detail, but also a nice option. 4. Some not-so-commonly seen (and hard-to-see) animals. So, look, for a family outing frankly it's perfect. 5/5

Really enjoyed our ride up the funicular to the top. We then used the restroom on the top, had a quick meal, took a few photos, and then begun our descent. We walked as far as we could on the day down before getting tired and joining a funicular stop down. Along the way there were a few homes that opened as mini stop areas for food. No ticks no bugs, really great to be at a high altitude. Plenty of cows and bells welcoming you along the way.

We took a ferry from Luzern (just outside of Luzern train station) and after one hour got off at Vitznau. The mountain railway is just outside the station, and with 30 min it took us to the top of Rigi. After 40 min walk we reached Rigi Kaltabad, from where we took a cable and with 5 min we were down to Weggis, another 15 min walk we got to the ferry station and boarded the ferry back to Luzern. All is covered by Swiss Travel Pass. The view alongside the journey is splendid.

Lake Lucerne is the fourth-largest lake in Switzerland and offers boat trips with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. A steam boat trip from Lucerne to Uri, lasting about 2.5 hours, provides stunning views along the shores and into the mountains. The southernmost part of Lake Lucerne, Urnersee (Lake of Uri), is rich in Swiss history and mythology, featuring iconic spots like the meadow of Rutli and Tellsplatte.

Located in the middle of Lucerne city, surrounded by the beautiful Alps Hills. Lake Lucerne is a very picturesque one, probably one of the most beautiful lake in Switzerland. Also is one of the main attractions of Lucerne (while it also has become one of the most recognizable images of the country). It is a symbol of the city and gives a sublime beauty on sunny days. Especially when even the nearby peaks are still snow-covered and can be seen in the background the Pilatus, majestic. There are many boats that allow you to traverse the lake and cross from one bank to another or even cruise excursions to nearby towns. It's a pretty big lake reaching over 210 meters. PS:- Highly Recommended for taking a boat tour around it to enjoy the tranquil beauty it holds.

The Lion Monument in Lucerne, Switzerland is a poignant and enduring tourist attraction. It was created to honor the Swiss mercenaries who lost their lives defending the Tuileries Palace during an attack in 1792. The monument features a sculpture of a dying lion impaled by a spear, carved into natural sandstone rock above a pond. The names of the fallen officers and soldiers are engraved nearby, adding to the melancholic atmosphere of the setting.
We wandered through the vibrant city center and stumbled upon a hidden gem. It was a remarkable spot to explore and offered a stunning backdrop for photos in the heart of Luzern. Though it was a bit bustling, we seized the moment and captured a beautiful picture.
Mrs T — Google review
As a tourist attraction, the Lion Monument is relatively small in scale, yet it draws a large number of visitors. The sculpture of the dying lion is strikingly lifelike, full of emotion and quiet power. In front of the carving lies a small reflecting pool, where a few lonely fallen leaves float on the water, adding to the somber mood of the place. Overall, the visit takes about 5–10 minutes. A truly impressive monument, much bigger than I expected and really beautiful. The Lion of Lucerne is carved directly into the rock to honor the Swiss Guards who died during the French Revolution. The expression of the lion is incredibly realistic and moving. The surrounding park and pond make it a peaceful place to stop and reflect. Definitely worth a visit!

The Lion Monument is located in Lucerne, Switzerland, it is a massive rock commemorating the Swiss Guards who were killed defending King Louis XVI during the French Revolution in 1792. It is a very peaceful and tranquil place to visit, as there is a small reflection pool at the base with lovely trees and flowers around. It is easy to find and an easier walk to get there.

You reach this historic monument with a short walk from the Lucerne chapel bridge of course you can take a shirt ride for free if you a Lucerne city pass. Mostly crowded as it’s a busy spot everyone wants to take a picture with lion. This is a place built in memory of soldier’s There is is wc near the zone. Easily accessible for all

Lion monument was made to honour mercenary soldiers of Switzerland who died during the French revolution. The monument is stunning with huge lion sculpture in a rock with high level detailing. The surroundings are very beautiful and this is an ideal place for photoshop. Don't miss out to see the reflection of lion monument in the small lake below it. This is a must visit place in Lucerne and an important part of Swiss history.

Magnificent though-provoking monument to Swiss guards who died defending French king at the revolution times, emphasizing sacrifice by the people who fulfilled their professional duties to the end at the cost of their lives. It’s a small public park easily accessible by 10 mins walk from Lucerne lake shore. There are restrooms onsite, also expect the park to be crowded almost at any time of the day.

Shaded area with a calm pond and beautifully carved sculpture. There are historical and interpretive signs all around, plus a few benches. Additionally, we found the most technologically-advanced, free public restrooms we'd ever seen here - I seriously almost took a photo of the inside of it!

In the charming town of Altdorf in Switzerland you found this monument that told the legend of Wilhelm Tell.

This monument is impressive both outside and inside. I definitely recommend you to visit the inside part, an impressive tower that will give you a fantastic view of the surrounding neighborhood and mountains. The tower includes a lot of explanation about the history of Switzerland and Wilhelm Tell, and you can also have an audio guide of 8 minutes atop of the tower

Nice monument of William Tell at Altdorf, you can go inside the tower. The entrance is free, lots of stairs. Great view from the top.

Worth a visit. A lovely, very old structure in the middle of town. Free entry. There are plenty of steps, but a few landing stages for you to stop (and rest if you need), and read a bit of historical information. Some nice views from the top.

Nice monument in altdorf but altdorf was very quiet for July. Surprised there wasn’t many tourists

The monument to William Tell, the historic figure of Switzerland by excellence is worth a visit while driving through Altdorf, the Canton Uri's capital. Uri was one of the three original cantons in Switzerland that started the Swiss Confederation or Confoederatio Helvetica, in Latin, from where the CH comes from. The monument is simple with nice paintings that tells William Tells story.

Chapel Bridge

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The Chapel Bridge, also known as Kapellbrucke, is a 14th-century wooden bridge in Lucerne that is considered one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in Europe. It is a significant part of the city's medieval fortifications and was named after St. Peter's Chapel nearby. The bridge crosses the River Reuss and features a roof adorned with 17th-century paintings depicting local history.
Walking across the Chapel Bridge after dark is just an absolutely core Lucerne experience. During the day it's beautiful, but at night, it's pure magic. You stand in the middle of this ancient wooden bridge, and the view from it is just incredible. The old buildings along the riverfront, like the Am-Rhyn-Haus with its clock tower, are all lit up, and their lights shimmer and reflect on the water. It’s so quiet and peaceful. I must have taken a dozen photos just like these, trying to capture how beautiful it was. If you're looking for a romantic spot or just a place to have a quiet moment, this is it. An absolute must-do.

We had a wonderful experience visiting the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) in Lucerne. It was a beautiful evening, and the entire setting felt almost magical. The iconic wooden bridge, with its charming roof and historic paintings, reflected perfectly in the calm waters of the Reuss River—making it one of the most picturesque spots we’ve seen in Switzerland. What made the experience even more special was the atmosphere around the bridge. As we walked through, the gentle lighting and the flower decorations along the bridge added to the charm. Right nearby, the Old Town was buzzing with life. The streets were lively with cafés, restaurants, and little shops, making it a joy to stroll through. The blend of history, culture, and energy gave the whole area a very warm and welcoming vibe. Walking across the bridge and then meandering through the cobblestone streets of Old Town felt like stepping into a postcard. The combination of medieval architecture, colorful buildings, and the vibrant evening atmosphere made the entire experience unforgettable. If you are in Lucerne, visiting Chapel Bridge is absolutely a must-do, especially in the evening when the city lights and reflections on the river create such a breathtaking scene. It’s not just a landmark—it’s a place that captures the heart and soul of Lucerne.
Gaurav S — Google review
Chapel Bridge lives up to the hype being the most iconic outdoor attraction in Lucerne. Pictures of the bridge from the river shore streets are more scenic than photos taken from the bridge itself. Given that fire of 1993 destroyed at least two thirds of the bridge, don’t expect too much from exposed paintings. Fortunately, Water Tower was spared and bridge was rebuilt and reopened in 8 months carefully reconstructed to preserve historic details.

Lucerne is beautiful city. The Chapel Bridge is one of the iconic attractions of the city. Very beautiful bridge with nice view of the river and the surrounding.
Nissim C — Google review
Beautiful bridge which has significant history; there had been a fire in the 90's but apart from some blackened sections it had been repaired. It was not crowded. It provided lovely views of the mountains, lake and Luzern itself. The wood is lovely and the craftsmanship is evident everywhere with examples of quality joinery etc. It's a short walk from the main railway station. I found it peaceful and calming. We were out of season.

The Chapel Bridge is an absolute gem in the heart of Lucerne. This historic wooden bridge, adorned with beautiful flower boxes, offers stunning views of the Reuss River and the charming old town. Walking across feels like stepping back in time, especially with the unique triangular paintings under the roof that tell stories from Lucerne’s past. It’s not just a bridge—it’s an experience that combines history, architecture, and breathtaking scenery.

Walked across Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) in Lucerne, and it was absolutely beautiful. The historic wooden bridge, decorated with colorful flowers and paintings, stretches across the Reuss River with a breathtaking backdrop of mountains and old town buildings. The reflection of the bridge in the calm water adds to its charm, especially around sunset. The whole area has a peaceful yet lively vibe — full of history and beauty. It’s one of those places that perfectly captures the spirit of Switzerland: calm, timeless, and picturesque.

It is a very nice, special place, always beautiful the flowers at the bridge. Mass tourism, a photogenic square, easily accessible from the train station and ship station.

Rathaus Stadt Luzern is an impressive Italian Renaissance-style town hall that has been a significant building in Lucerne for centuries. Designed by Anton Isenmann and constructed between 1602 and 1606, it serves as the seat of government. Located along the charming Kornmarkt square, its towering structure and sturdy stone walls can be seen from Chapel Bridge. The landmark also features a beautiful clock tower, adding to its historical significance.
Visited the Rathaus in Luzern last week, and it’s such a gem! The building itself is stunning—classic Swiss architecture with those beautiful frescoes and wooden details. It’s right by the river, so the location is perfect for a stroll after checking it out. We popped into the basement restaurant too, and the food was surprisingly good—solid Swiss dishes with a cozy vibe. Staff were super friendly, and it wasn’t too crowded, even with tourists around. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in Luzern, especially if you love history and a good photo op!

Nice renaissance-style town hall and clock tower. Worth a visit on a rainy day to see the architecture. Outside, a working clock tower with an ornate face.

In this landmark is a beautiful clock tower. Although it isn't very comparable to other, more well-known, clock towers, it's still a nice piece of history in the city and makes for a pretty good photo opp

Mount Pilatus

Mountains
Mount Pilatus is a stunning mountain peak in Switzerland, offering sweeping views and a range of amenities including a restaurant and hotel. Situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne, it provides an incredible setting with views of famous mountains like Rigi and Stanserhorn. The area also boasts a well-preserved medieval Old Town, souvenir shops, high-quality restaurants, and beautiful waterfront promenades.
I am struggling to find the right words to describe how incredible Mount Pilatus is. All I can say is that you absolutely CANNOT miss this if you are anywhere near Lucerne. The adventure begins with the cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad, which was full of surprises. Of course, the views are amazing, but I was not expecting the ride to be such a thrill! It climbs at a seriously steep angle, and it's fascinating to watch the scenery and plants completely change as you shoot up the mountain. Once you get to the top, there are several easy, short hiking trails, and every single step is just ridiculously beautiful. You get these insane 360-degree views of Lucerne's unique landscape, the massive lake, and snow-capped mountains in the distance. The photos don't even do it justice. And the wildlife! We saw mountain goats just chilling on the cliffs, basically posing for our pictures. Not to mention the friendly yellow-billed choughs (like mountain ducks) that are everywhere. From the journey up to the views at the top, this was a 10/10 experience. Just do it!

If you're in or neat Lucerne Mount Pilatus is a must see. I took the train from Lucerne to Alpnachstad and then took the cog train up the mountain. I had absolutely perfect weather and the views were stunning. There is a restaurant multiple lookout points and a few trails I hiked. I then took the gondola down the other side of the mountain. Highly recommend!
Dylan N — Google review
A definite must do,we had the silver round trip journey and it was well worth it,went up via the cable car and gondola and down by the cog train The views were amazing 👏 also the dragons caves were cool
Erwin T — Google review
Beautiful views all around. Be careful about visiting during spring, as parts of the viewing decks may be closed because of snow as late as early june in my experience. The facilities are new and very nice. I would recommend to take the cog rail up, and the gondola down the mountain for the best experience. Worth every penny.

WoW WoW WooooooW An absolute must see! It is a bit expensive to go up but what an insanely gorgeous experience to see lucerne and the alps from here. We took the cog wheel up and the gondola down. INCREDIBLE

My visit to Mount Pilatus was absolutely unforgettable! The entire journey — from the climb up through stunning mountain landscapes to the breathtaking views at the top — felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The combination of thrilling rides, fresh mountain air, and panoramic scenery makes it a must-visit destination in Switzerland. The facilities are well-organized, clean and tourist-friendly. The staff were helpful and very professional, making the experience smooth from start to finish. Whether you take the world’s steepest cogwheel railway or the aerial cableways, the adventure is incredible in every way. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Switzerland — Mount Pilatus truly feels like being on top of the world!

What a spectacular place! If you are visiting Switzerland, spend some hours at Mt. Pilatus. I took the steap railway to the top, but you can also choose to hike.
Marius N — Google review
Mount Pilatus was definitely a highlight of the trip to Switzerland. The weather in mid September was cooperative (it was as warm and sunny on the mountain as in Lucerne). Classic trip as advised: bus, cable cars to the mountain and trip back via cog-wheel train and lake cruise ending in Lucerne. Nature beauty is unreal, hiking a few paths at the top (paved or stairs) is almost a must. Utter surprise how tasty were the local beef hot dogs at the fast food joint on the mountain.
