Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Kamennaya Lestnitsa, a famous historical staircase, is an iconic monument with great historical significance. This renowned architectural marvel has stood the test of time and witnessed numerous significant events throughout history. Constructed using durable materials, this ancient stairway displays exceptional craftsmanship and intricate design details. As a well-preserved landmark, it symbolizes the rich cultural heritage of its era and serves as a testament to the advanced engineering techniques employed during its construction.
The Depaldo Stone Steps was constructed in 1823 by the project of the Italian architect Francesco Boffo with the money of Taganrog's Greek merchant Gerasim Depaldo at the crossroads of Greek Street (near Tchaikovsky House in Taganrog) and Depaldo Street (now Turgenevskaya Street) in Taganrog. The stairway begins up on the hill in downtown and goes down ending near Azov seashore (Pushkin Embankment). In Imperial Russia it was the famous stairs in South Russia, similar to the Potemkin Stairs in Odessa. In World War II, the Old Stone Steps were heavily damaged, but stayed one of the major tourist attractions of Taganrog. In the 1970s it was reconstructed, but not finished. The new major reconstruction was made in 2005. During the latest reconstruction all the old stone steps were replaced by new stones.

There is entertainment for children, cafes, workout places. You can ride a bike. Tile embankment: some people may not like riding a scooter or roller skates due to the shaking. (Translated by Google) 🎭 I visited Taganrog for a concert and couldn't resist climbing the legendary Stone Stairs! This truly impressive place—189 steps, built back in 1823 with funds from the merchant Depaldo. The architect came up with a clever trick: when viewed from top to bottom, the stairs appear uniform in width, but narrow toward the top. The same technique was later used in the construction of the Potemkin Stairs in Odessa! At the top is the first sundial in southern Russia, and on the sides are atmospheric photo spots. The descent is easy, but the ascent is a real adventure! 🧗‍♂️ By the way, even military events took place here—during the Crimean War, the Cossacks repelled an English attack! Your blind guide to Taganrog and beyond, popular singer Viktor Tartanov 🎤 (Original) 🎭 Посетил Таганрог с концертом и не мог не подняться по легендарной Каменной лестнице! For those who come to Taganrog, be sure to visit the embankment and climb the stairs. It was nice to walk through the streets from above. We were very pleased. Special thanks to the museum curator for the beautiful indoor plants on the windows. They create a pleasant atmosphere of homeliness, so one gets the impression that the Chekhov family was simply away on business and they will soon return to their cozy, cute house and continue to do their daily business. The museum grounds are very clean and well maintained. I recommend this museum for visiting by residents and guests of the city.

(Translated by Google) The seaside embankment of the city of Yeysk looks like a paved path with a twisted forged fence decorated with a large pearl. There is a descent to the beach that even makes you want to go down. Not a scoop like in the parks. The view is peaceful if the weather is good. The Sea of Azov is always muddy. Overview of sandy and stone beaches and the surroundings of the port (where would we be without this). The sea looks shallow.. I would not swim, but would only breathe the breeze, which is useful for people from large cities. We wanted to live here, but after walking for a couple of hours, we realized that this was not an option. We bought some mud to take with us and moved on. It is good for a person to recover in a mud bath and be in a calm place. But not for long, because Yeisk, in my opinion, is more suitable for a quiet old age in retirement and later death than for an active, productive youth. Everything is good in moderation.

My favorite place is Central Park of Culture and Rest named after Maxim Gorky. Main park of Kharkov. One of the largest outdoor entertainment centers in Europe. On its territory there are a lot of entertainment for adults and children: attractions, fountains, a lake and sculptures. One of the faces of this city. Convenient place for dating appointments. Beautiful fountain with lights! In the heat, cold spray is well refreshed and invigorating from the summer heat. This place is great for bright photos. I recommend to everyone.

A great place to relax. Here you can relax yourself right in the city center, or you can invite friends or loved ones and watch the lights of the night fountains together. In addition, everything is nearby here. You can go to one of the theaters or to the park, as well as arrange a business meeting in neighboring establishments. In this cozy corner of tranquility right in the center of the city, it will be convenient for you to do anything. I would love to invite my friend Odysseus (@grimace on X) and the rest of the guys from our family here. And who would you invite?

Nestled in the picturesque Shevchenko Park, CoffeeDoor Shevchenko Park is a delightful coffee bar and restaurant that offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Whether you're looking to enjoy a refreshing capuorange—a unique blend of orange juice and espresso—or savor an expertly crafted latte with perfectly heated milk, this spot has something for everyone. The cappuccinos are particularly noteworthy, making it an ideal choice for coffee lovers.
A wonderful coffee shop in Shevchenko Park. A great place for a healthy meal or to just sit down and have a coffee. The cappuccinos are excellent. Combined with the beautiful water fountains, grass, trees it is a perfect place to relax.

A horrible place, though it has a good location... but the servicd is a complete disaster... the waiters forget half of your orders and they say oh we are sorry. We ordered chicken and Salad, but we had only chicken and waited 25 mins for salad... i wont recommend this place at all.. talking to Manager is useless...
Elijah S — Google review
A cozy coffee bar and restaurant in the heart of Shevchenko Garden. We ordered a capuorange here, which is an orange juice and espresso. The drink itself is good, but here by default they don't add ice and caramel syrup. If you ask, they add it without a problem. Also tasted the Latte here: the milk was heated just right, not a lot of foam. Keep in mind that the milk used here is 2.5% fat, not 3.2. The coffee is very flavourful, the drink is mild and pleasant. Just right for an evening stroll. They say that there is also a grill here Friday through Sunday. We haven't had a chance to try it, but others have praised the corn, kebabs, and crispy potatoes cooked on it. They also serve mulled wine, if anyone is interested.

A real treasure of the Nature. The island is the only part of the city of Zaporizhzhya where you can actually breathe freely. It has a lot of attractions, — beaches, hiking trails, restaurants, museums, theaters, etc... If you like nature, this place is for you to visit and to enjoy.
Dmytro B — Google review
The largest River Island on the Dnieper and a vital historical site, Khortysia was named one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine in 2007. The island’s value rests in its historical associations with the unruly Zaporizhian Cossacks. They established a “sich” (a wooden fortress settlement) here in the 16th century, and maybe the most compelling piece of trivia is that they are believed to have composed their mocking reply to the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed IV on the island. This moment is engrained in Ukrainian folklore and recorded in a famous painting by the 19th-century painter Ilya Repin. There’s a museum on Khortytsia, which we’ll visit next, while the whole island is a national reserve, featuring 50-metre granite cliffs, large swathes of steppe and oak and spruce forest.

The Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant, situated between Dnipro and Zaporizhia in Ukraine, was constructed to make the River Dnieper navigable. The dam is an impressive 800 metres long and stands at a height of 61 metres. It boasts a capacity of 1,569 megawatts, making it a significant source of hydroelectric power.
A great fixture of СССР. Every season it provides different views of the Дніпро. Good place for taking landscape pictures.
Adam B — Google review
Between Dnipro and Zaporizhia there used to be over 100 kilometres of impassable rapids on the River Dnieper, which is one of the reasons this region was so hard for empires to control. Plans to make the river navigable were announced in the 1890s, and it would be another three decades before the city’s famous hydroelectric dam was completed. A few years after its initial unveiling in 1932, the whole structure had to be rebuilt almost from scratch after it was wrecked in the Second World War. The dam is 800 metres long, with a height of 61 metres, and has a capacity of 1,569 megawatts. You could cross it via the footbridge, but it’s a trip to make at quiet times as the traffic can be a bit much

(Translated by Google) The monument to Shevchenko on the highest point of Monastyrmsky Island was opened on November 5, 1959. The statue was designed by sculptors - father and son Znoby. And the massive pedestal was designed by architect Leonid Vetvitsky. The monument is made of cast iron, installed on a granite pedestal. The height of the monumental figure of the poet is 9.5 m, the height of the pedestal is 10.5 m, the weight of the cast iron sculpture is 55 tons. In 2011-2014, the monument on the island underwent a major reconstruction. In the summer of 2011, the statue was dismantled, sawn into parts and sent for restoration. The pedestal was completely dismantled after it. In fact, we can talk about the erection of a new monument modeled on the old one. In 2012, the pedestal was restored in its former place. The work on installing the statue on the pedestal was generally completed on June 17, 2013. Interestingly, this time the fragments of the statue were transported not by rail, but by water, and they were mounted on site. In March 2014, for Shevchenko's birthday, the monument was presented in a completely updated form. The square and alleys near the monument were re-arranged, and several decorative lanterns from the 1950s were restored.

I was here once, and it’ll be my last time! Service here is awful, especially if you came as legal entity! If you really like to solve troubles, please enjoy, but if you want just have hotel with at least clear understanding of prices please choose different place.

A very neat and comfortable hotel in the center of Dnipro. The entire complex, which not only houses the hotel, is excellently maintained and serviced. Unfortunately has the hotel management decided to close the restaurant for breakfast if not enough guest are staying (mostly on weekends). First day I stoud infront of a closed restaurant door and was informed by the security that I could pick up a breakfast bag from the reception. Quite unusual for a hotel of that class I thought, but the breakfast items provided in the bag were quite good and more than enough. Unfortunately no coffee was availabe and the reception recommended to go outside 😯 For next day (Sunday) a breakfast preorder for the "Hummus Bar" was taken by the receptionist. The breakfast itself was amazing, but a second coffee had to be paid!? This approach is not particularly customer-oriented and casts a very bad image on an otherwise good hotel... 😪

Very cute, calm, nice place for spending time with children and family. Everywhere is clean, animals are well-groomed. I recommend!

An okay zoo (as far as zoos go), altough some animals clearly dont have enough space. Little by little, that situation has been improving, and the animals seem to be well fed. Unfortunately, some of them are clearly depressed, if not because of the lack of space, its because of the lack of mates to socialize.

The St. Anthony of Kyiv Caves of the Holy Trinity Monastery, founded in 1069 by Monk Anthony Pecherskiy and Prince Svyatoslav, offers a fascinating historical experience just a short distance from Chernihiv. The cave system was initially a monastery and later an actual monastery was built nearby. Visitors can explore the ancient caves and delve into the history of the monks while feeling the positive energy that emanates from this mysterious place.
So beautiful and incredible history. We were moved with beautiful energy.

Sights & Landmarks
The Ukrainian Motherland Monument, towering over the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War Two, offers visitors breathtaking panoramic views of Kyiv from its 102-meter-high pedestal. This colossal stainless steel statue, unveiled in 1981, symbolizes the resilience and spirit of the Ukrainian people. As one of the world's tallest statues, it stands as a tribute to Soviet soldiers and is surrounded by a park featuring military displays and a World War II Museum.
Really breathtaking place. The current exposition, near the monument, with weapons and arsenal and the recreation of how people have lived under the siege of Russians is really shocking and important for the world to see.
Guillem C — Google review
The Motherland Monument in Kiev is a monumental sculpture that is the central object of the memorial complex of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II. The unique statue, which rises on the Pecherskaya Hills on the right bank of the Dnieper River, is viewed from almost anywhere in the city. It became the calling card of modern Kiev and was among the ten highest monuments of the planet. The grand opening of the Motherland in the entire museum complex took place on May 9, 1981. General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party L. Brezhnev took direct part in the ceremony. The height of the Motherland monument is 62 meters. The height of the cone pedestal is 40 meters. The all-welded statue weighs almost 500 tons. The main frame is 20 meters deep. The size of the shield is 8 meters by 12 meters. The height of the sword is 16 meters. The structure has two elevators – an inclined angle of 75 degrees and a vertical elevator terminating at the head of the statue. They are used to lift visitors to observation decks, but above all for the maintenance of the Motherland.Another must visit if you are in Kyiv. The Motherland Monument towers over the city and really is a symbol of independence / resistance that many Ukrainians are proud of. The park around the monument of free of charge to walk around and is very well kept. There are also a number of tanks on display , and for a small fee you can pay to visit the WWII museum next to the park. I am told the museum is very interesting but was closed during our visit due to the air raid siren going off.Standing proudly over the Kiev skyline is the 340-foot tall, stainless steel Soviet Mother Motherland statue. Originally intended to be even taller, the sword of the statue was cut because it was higher than the cross of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra - renowned Orthodox Christian Monastery. She ranks 18th on the list of the world’s tallest statues and for example a bit of comparison, The Statue of Liberty ranks about 42nd.

Very cool place. Very somber. The museum and monument are done perfectly, impeccable, lots of extremely interesting facts and items from WW2, all the way up to the conflict in Crimea. This is definitely a worthwhile stop. You must go to the top of the monument!

The most amazing place in Kiev. It's a must visit destination in a traveller's list if he's visiting Kiev. The place is very well built and it displays all the war materials used in World Wars, it's just amazing and can only be felt not described. It has many more nearby tourist places which can be visited by walk or by bus.
Vaibhav N — Google review
This museum could be called the house of Europe's "Statue of Liberty". A huge and beautiful statue locates the entry of the museum. At the entry you could think it's not as big as it really is. It covers all of Kiev struggle during WWII with a lot of objects from that era. When I was there the balcony was closed so I couldn't get to see the statue at the bottom, but it was definitely worth it, and the last room with the fotos and the objects of the fallen during the war makes a real impact in you. Despite this the museum shows is age and everything it's in ukranian. So it's not that prepared to welcome tourists, although it's a must in Kyiv.
André S — Google review
Huge (23rd tallest statue in the world) monument overlooking Kiev. Great views across the city from the area. It's part of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. I didn't visit the museum itself, was short on time, but there are plenty of exhibits to see outside which you don't have to pay to see. Also some big statues at the base and a tank painted in the Ukrainian national colours.

This war memorial consists of a massive statue of a Motherland holding a shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other, overlooking the city below. The museum which is located on the banks of the Dnieper River has exhibits about Ukraine's role in World War II from uniforms and letters to larger pieces of history like airplanes and artillery.
Had a great time going up into the top observation deck of the statue. Olga did a good job instructing me the whole way and telling me facts while at the top. I didn't get to see the rest of the museum.

One of the most complete displays of artefacts showing the horrors of WWII. A profound, human and terrifying reminder of the dark lurking behind destructive and sadistic totalitarian ideas.
Carlos S — Google review
So freaking cool. Even the grounds around this place are beautiful. Plaques explained everything in English and Ukrainian. Apparently you can climb inside the helicopter but it was closed for Corona. ☹️ Lotta sad stories coming out of the conflict near Donetsk. Was very sad to see how many Ukrainian soldiers have died. There's a small exhibit of cars that have come from that region where the recent conflict is and has been. Go and considering paying the entrance fee to the war II area to support best place. Seriously one of the coolest museums.
Alex V — Google review
This sits right outside of the Motherland Monument, with some interesting vehicles, art, and sculptures. Easy to get to, wide open spaces, very inexpensive exhibits, and... Just a really cool place. They did a spectacular job putting this together!
Brian S — Google review
The museum has got some renovations and looks a bit better than before. Some people say you can enter the head of the Mother Motherland monument and from there you can see amazing views of Kyiv, but I never have been there. Need to try it ones.

Great experience to visit this place. Brings the great european wars to life. Good place to visit with kids and family. Car parking is available. Quite a bit of walking will be required. This place is wheelchair friendly. If you love military photogtaphy this is the place to take ur camera to. Tanks, planes and soldier status can be foubd here. Most of the meuseum is open air so be watchful of the weather. Good for a couple of hours visit.
Prateek T — Google review
The best part of the museum was the indoor section where you need to pay in order to enter. There was a very moving exhibition about the war in Crimea (didn't take pictures because it was some kind of disrespectful) and also the permanent exhibition about II World War (Eastern Europe). I am not very fond of War museums but it is always worthy since there is always something new to learn. The only disadvantage was that not all written explanations are provided in English so you have to do your own research if you want to go deeper in knowledge. After paying the entrance make sure you go downstairs to leave your belongings, otherwise it is not possible to enter the museum.
Clarimar B — Google review
One of the largest museums in Ukraine it houses plenty of exhibits from the Second World War. Outside exhibition is huge and full of Soviet mechanization from tanks to artillery pieces and from planes to helicopters. Inside museum if concentrated on details and personal items from soldiers.

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Lavra, is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Orthodox Christian monastery complex in Kyiv. It features ornate religious buildings such as the Dormition Church, refectory, and bell tower. One of its main attractions is the network of underground catacombs where mummified remains of former monks are laid to rest.
As one of the seven wonders of Ukraine, this monastery is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site along with Saint Sophia Cathedral. Situated in Kiev, it is a monastic complex famed for its buried monks, spiritual atmosphere, and unique underground caves. Make sure you go up the stairs to enjoy a nice view over the city and panoramic view on the church from the towers.

A lot can be said about this place, but it is better to come and see everything yourself. It is difficult for me to imagine where else in the world there are so many historical buildings, caves, museums, icons in one territory. And indeed the place that is full of history. Just go to the free part, if you like it, you can come on Sunday and get into the "museum" part for free too.
Kir V — Google review
Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves, is one of Ukraine's most revered religious and cultural landmarks. Perched on the picturesque hills overlooking the Dnipro River in the Pechersk district of Kyiv, this UNESCO World Heritage site is a stunning example of Eastern Orthodox monastic architecture and a place of profound spiritual significance. Founded in 1051 by St. Anthony of Kyiv, the Lavra began as a humble cave monastery and grew into a vast complex of churches, bell towers, and subterranean catacombs. The history of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is deeply intertwined with the spread of Christianity in the region, serving as a spiritual center for Eastern Orthodoxy and a cradle of monasticism in Kievan Rus. Over the centuries, it has been a focal point of religious life, attracting pilgrims from across the Orthodox world. The architectural beauty of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is breathtaking. The complex is dominated by the Great Lavra Belltower, which soars to a height of 96.5 meters, making it one of the tallest bell towers in the world. The golden domes of the Dormition Cathedral, which was rebuilt after being destroyed during World War II, gleam in the sunlight, creating a striking contrast against the blue skies of Kyiv. The interior of the churches is adorned with exquisite frescoes, mosaics, and icons, reflecting the rich artistic tradition of the Orthodox Church. Beneath the Lavra's surface lies a network of catacombs, where the mummified remains of saints, monks, and notable figures from Ukrainian history are interred. These underground passages are a place of pilgrimage, with visitors coming to venerate the relics and experience the serene, otherworldly atmosphere of the caves. Culturally, Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a symbol of Ukraine's religious heritage and national identity. It has played a crucial role in the preservation and dissemination of Orthodox Christian traditions, theological scholarship, and religious art. The Lavra continues to be an active monastery, home to a community of monks who maintain the centuries-old spiritual practices that have been passed down through generations. In addition to its religious significance, Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a cultural treasure, hosting museums that display priceless artifacts, manuscripts, and religious objects. The site is not only a place of worship but also a center of learning, art, and history, embodying the spiritual and cultural legacy of Ukraine.

This is an amazing site to discover in Kyiv. Visit the church, see the mirror egg outside. The outstanding architecture. You need to visit this as travellers. It's a must and less than $5 to visit. On my visit there was some coffee machine outside, was very tasteful.

I visited just before the start of war, so my review is based on my experience at that time. A beautiful and historic monument in Kyiv. Arguably the centre of the Slavic Orthodox religion. I wish to visit again when things are back to normal.

It’s not really “free” to enter but 100 UAH to pay. But of course it’s worth paying the amount as you’ll get to see amazing monastery with so many beautiful ornaments around. Do not miss the viewpoint as you’ll be able to see nice view under the river and to the war museum down south.

St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery is a historic site in Kiev, Ukraine, featuring a cathedral, bell tower, refectory, and gates all built in the Ukrainian Baroque style. The monastery was founded in 1108 by Sviatopolk Iziaslavovych and is dedicated to Michael the Archangel. It is renowned for being the first cathedral in Kyiv with gilded domes made of solid gold leaf.
My favorite building in Ukraine 🙏 I love the architecture, I love the blue color, the interior is beautiful 😍 Absolutely stunning. 🙏 I came to Kyiv in 2019. I hope to visit again.

If you're staying at the InterContinental, St. Michael's Monastery is literally opposite. But even if you're not staying there, it's worth travelling across the city to see this beautiful religious building with its sky-blue walls, intricate riches and golden domed roof. Inside evokes many emotions through the haze of incense especially if visiting during some prayers / singing / chanting.
D — Google review
It’s really worth visiting here when you’re in the city. On a sunny day the golden roof really is glistening in the sun and the blue walls stand out prominently against the greyness of the surrounding area. Outside the surrounding wall there’s a nice square where you can sit and watch the world go by, including on my visit a photo shoot for a wedding, with loads of impressive and other ornate buildings. There was a number of locals selling stuff outside the entrance in the wall but fortunately they weren’t bothersome at all so don’t let it put you off. Once within the walls there’s a real sense of calm. There’s plenty of benches to sit and a nice walk around the grounds. There’s some other old buildings next to the main cathedral and a small ‘orchard’ which is pleasant in the sun. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to venture inside the main cathedral but despite that it was well worth checking out and it’s no wonder that it’s one of the cities main sights.
Steve B — Google review
The blue walls and golden domes of the exterior are very picturesque. The interior is quite impressive as well, and it is interesting to compare the fresh paintings here with the much older paintings in the nearby St Sophia’s.

Really lovely place to visit. It is free to walk around, however if you want a guided tour or to find out more info there are additional charges to pay for these things. There are plenty of spaces and benches to sit and relax and reflect in these beautiful surroundings. There is a note that states no photography, however everyone there were taking pictures and nobody was approached to stop.
