Slaughtered Animals Monument

Mentioned on

Sculpture
Sights & Landmarks
The Slaughtered Animals Monument in Wroclaw is a unique and interesting place to visit. Located near handcraft shops and popular pubs, the monument pays homage to the animals that were traded for meat in the Middle Ages. The sculptures serve as a reminder of the historical market practices where only "clean" produce could be traded at Rynek and Colth Hall, leading to the trading of meat at a distance.
A very cute statue with some animals, kids like to play around with them and it was nice to walk past them!
E D — Google review
A lovely memorial to the slaughtered animals of Wroclaw on butchers alley. Very nice statues and lovely little street that had some art and some shops for gifts if you would like some artsy gifts to take home.
Alice L — Google review
Interesting place to go in Wroclaw. The memorial to Slaughtered Animals in Wrocław. In the Middle Ages, this place was a terrible place for animals💀, but a pretty good place to buy meat 🍖. Now you can find some nice little shops...
Max M — Google review
Monument to our edible friends. I heard they put candles here on All Saints Day, I would have liked to see that.
Spelling C — Google review
Despite the handcraft shops that there are to be discovered and one of the pubs with popular «pub quizs», you will undoubtely notice the animal sculptures. They were placed there as an hommage to them, but not because they were heroes or something like this... In an earlier time when the Rynek and the Colth hall were used as a market place, not every produce could be traded there, but those supposed clean. It meant that meat had to be selled and bought a bit farther. Thus little street not far was the chisen place. In fact just in front of the animals you will still find the wood doors on the floor were merchants kept the meat (and themselves) underground to offer it to the people passing by without spreading their smell.

Very cute sculpture

Arboretum Wojsławice

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Thousands of tree & flower species fill this lush green space, known for its rhododendrons & lilies.
One of the most beautiful flower orchards and parks that I have ever visited! This place is not only rich in history (many flowers were actually created here!) but it’s landscaping and depth of flower variety is truly breathtaking. I highly recommend you come here in the spring season and preferably not in weekends or holidays as the feeling is unlikely to be the same with the crowds. I suggest you take 3-5 hours for your visit, possibly including a picnic on the grounds (it’s allowed). There is also a surprisingly good cafeteria with warm and cold meals, excellent cakes and good coffee!
Z U — Google review
Perfect place to heal yourself. All path are clean and organised really well. Lots of flowers make beautiful smell to refresh your body & mental condition. Even you are able to purchase plants or flowers here.
Jay L — Google review
Amazing place! Definitely recommend to visit. Perfect place to relax . All plants and trees have tables with names. Big playground for the children. Additionally you can buy a map for children on which you will be collecting stamps during your walk in the garden. The perfect time for visiting is spring when everything is in bloom.
Anna B — Google review
Great place to spend the day. Its an amazing location for all those who love trees and plants. They have lots of different types of tree and plant. Ticket cost 25 for Normal, 15 for discount. At the end of the Garden there are lots of cherry 🍒 tree. During the season it is possible to pick as much cherry possible and take them home. Highly recommend for family picnic.
Hameem R — Google review
Amazing place . We had a lovely afternoon among the rhododendrons, roses and cherry trees. Rich history.
Kasia G — Google review
The best garden in Poland. Perfect for picnic, enjoying the nature and gardening at every time of a year. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting!!
Aga M — Google review
Beautiful place for a nice walk, variety of plants, rocks display, grill, playground for kids. A free car park. Just a bit too crowded, and when you walk in - just number of ads, food places etc makes you dizzy. When you just over the first part, rest allow you to enjoy weather and nature
Luke — Google review
A great place to visit to walk among beautiful flowers. But I am told May is the best time when they are in full bloom. You could easily spend half a day here. Bring some food if you want to cook over a barbecue. You can buy food but the queues are long. There's a fun game for children to collect stamps dotted around the place. But this is a place to relax and enjoy the sun. But that's where it's appeal ends, as not sure what you can do in any other type of weather.

Fort Srebrna Góra

Mentioned on
1 list
Fortress
Museums
Fort Srebrna Góra, a grand mountaintop fortress constructed in the 18th century by the King of Prussia, offers an immersive journey into history. Visitors can enjoy a guided tour with humorous and engaging storytelling about the fortress's past. The site provides audio guides in various languages, making it accessible to international visitors. Additionally, dog owners are welcome to explore the fortress with their pets.
The Srebrna Góra Stronghold is one of the largest mountain strongholds in Europe. The impressions are amazing. The stronghold is located on the top of a mountain. Its size is awesome, and the views from it are breathtaking. The fortress is not only thick walls, but also a great story told by a guide (brilliant entertainment for children and adults), the possibility of resting in the courtyard, eating ice cream or even drinking a mug of beer. There is a restaurant and a hostel there. From the viewing terrace at the top of the donjon there is a panorama of the Sowie and Bardzkie mountains, there are tables and benches if someone wants to eat or rest, and even a herd of goats grazing. There are also film screenings in the fortress. There is a parking near the fortress, from which you have to walk. It takes less than 15 minutes. It is a great place to spend time with the family or friends.
Agnieszka R — Google review
Large fortress with beautiful views. Loved the reenactment which gives a real glimpse of the lives of people in the past. Drinks and food on site.
Milena H — Google review
Wow. We got fantastic guide Danka. She has amasing knowledge and way to pass it to visitors. She was funny and entertaining. The place itself is well organised. You can feel the ghosts of prussian soldiers around. There's different tickets to choose and portable multimedia devices for different languages.
M K — Google review
Surprisingly interesting place. You need to park your car and hike an asphalt road for about 20 minutes. Then I recommend a tour with a guide - a bit steep (if you come with a whole family), but funny and informative. Attractions indoors (the fort itself, a restaurant, playroom, video tours, bathroom) and outdoors (nice view at the mountains, fresh air, goats). The funny part: it was one of the biggest and most costly military investments at the time, built mostly to satisfy the kaiser's ego. It faced just one battle, which happened by mistake (as truce with Napoleon has already been signed).
Bumbo S — Google review
Although you have to climb to the top of the hill, it was well worth it. Fort is still being renovated but the tour guide was very well informed, able to answer questions and with good sense of humour!
Katarzyna W — Google review
Great historical place with a wonderful excursion led by a professional guide. Worth attending the whole session . Great views from walls
Andrii B — Google review
Lovey panoramic views nice tour guide and a good day out. Also nice goats to see. One tip is if you want to feed the goats you need 2zl to buy food
Oliver M — Google review
Really nice place which is still growing. Hard climb on the way up but with small game which you may participate. This helps with the climb and provides some competition. You also need to be there when they fire the cannon. It is worth to wait for a guided tour as they also shoot an old weapon. It's all good and well but the single item missing is a good place to eat. Apart from that there is a lot to see a fire range, cannon and much more. Nice views.

Church of Peace in Świdnica

Mentioned on
5 lists
Lutheran church
Sights & Landmarks
The Church of Peace in Świdnica is a remarkable wooden religious venue, boasting ornate Baroque interiors and offering tours and services. It is part of the Churches of Peace, which were built by Silesian Protestants following the 1648 Peace of Westphalia. Only two of the original three churches have survived, with Świdnica's being one of them. In 2001, these churches were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
This is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever visited. The wood structure is unique and it is amazing to see a wooden church still in use after so many years. There are plenty of plaques outside around church where you can read about the history of relevant buildings and the cemetery. Inside the church you can read the information brochure and admire the art inside. When I visited this place, there were very few tourists so that you can spend a lot of time to appreciate the masterpiece. The history of the church is also very moving. I did not have a parking lot dedicated for this church. I guess street parking is the most convenient way. The parking meters show information in English and are easy to use.
Mengyang L — Google review
Really magical place. I stayed there for about an hour to read and hear about the history of this church. The whole area ist very peaceful. Some kind of stillness "reign" at this place. I was inspired to buy a guidebook about "treasures" of lower Silesia
Pawel B — Google review
Quite beautiful and special 17 century Lutheran church. It’s the largest Baroque wooden church in Europe. Thank to it’s remote location, the church was intact after WWII. It took us about one hour and half to admire the church, its surrounding and learn about its history. At the ticket counter you can get a document which explains most important details of the church ( history, construction, maintenance, renovation….) don’t miss it.
NGUYEN V — Google review
It is definitely a must see if you are in the town. The church was built only with wood in very little time. All the information about the church history is available on leaflets once you are there. Judging by the exterior - which is also nice - you could not tell how beautiful the interior is.
Arek M — Google review
We always visit this place in Świdnica with tourist groups. It's the largest wooden Baroque church in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The first mass was celebrated in 1657. Although the church was built as a result of religious wars, it remains a symbol of reconciliation.
Tripsforgroups — Google review
One of the best churches i ever visited. Loved the good vibes and art inside. Its a paid entry but was worth it. They also provide english booklet with church history.
Chetan P — Google review
The church is in nice surroundings with a cemetery around it but it is not in a perfect condition. The inside of the church is splended but a little too crowded and this way it could not be enjoyed fully.

Underground City Osówka

Mentioned on
1 list
Museums
Historic Sites
Specialty Museums
The Underground City Osówka is a fascinating tourist attraction located in the Ani plateau, characterized by hundreds of caves that have been carved out over time for various purposes such as dwellings, animal shelters, churches and pigeon houses. Among these caves are a network of tunnels and rooms built during WWII by Nazi slave workers, whose purpose remains unknown to this day. While the research on this underground city has been limited, visitors can explore it with a guide who shares stories about its history and significance.
Great spot for history and mystery lovers! The tour was in polish but there are English audio guides available. I will always remember this experience!
Анна З — Google review
Great experience, awesome place to visit. That being said, english audio guide can be rented next to the ticket office at the gift shop. They wanted us to pay 50 euros per audio guide as a deposit. I didn't have cash and the lady said that's fine go ahead and insisted we return them at the gift shop. When we returned everything was closed only people were some waiters from the next door restaurant so we left the audio guides with them. Questions - if the audio guides are worth 100 euros wouldn't you want them back ? Was it forgetfulness or trying a scam ?
Bogdan Z — Google review
Well worth visiting if you are interested in a WW2 history. Be mindful that enter is granted in tours only with guide provided no individual entry.
Olek M — Google review
Awesome place to visit. It takes one hour, possible to pay by card. Audio guide is available in several langages (Cz, UA, RO, HU, D, EN...)
Pavel S — Google review
Very interesting place! Did both tours. The "special" tour is only in Polish and will take you through the flooded part of the tunnels. Its approximately 200m in the dark but you get a flashlight along. This is the only extra compared to the normal tour The normal tour is with an audio-guide in English, French, German or Czech. Together with the guide you'll walk trough the illuminated tunnels. At every stop he tells something in Polish and as a non Polish person you can listen to the audio-guide. Both tours take app. 50 minutes. The guides speak a bit of English so you can ask them for some extra info. After the tour is finished you can walk up the mountain to see the casino and the ruins. An intense but nice walk.
Michiel — Google review
Great experience, really good tour guide provided a lot of information.
Katarzyna W — Google review
What a disappointing tour - if you are not Polish! If you do not speak Polish, you get an audio guide. The audio guide however is inadequate. They put non- Polish speakers all together in a group with polish speakers who have an actual human guide. Some sections of the audio guide lasts for 2 minutes, say. Then you have to then wait until the human tour guide speaks to the rest of the group for a further 5 minutes or more. Why can't the audio guide be the same content as if you were a Polish speaking tourist? I thought the whole experience was to attract tourists from all over the world to spend their money here and learn about Polish history. Also, the tour guide is loud, so the people listening to headphones (sorry, 'headphone' because they only give you one!) can't actually hear what is being said in their ear. So the audio guide people linger at the back and then get told off (quite rudely) by the guide for being left behind whilst they are still listening. Some sections of the tour were spoken by the tour guide in Polish and were completely missed off the audio guide. It is a shame because this piece of history is very important and interesting to this part of Poland. I came away feeling that because I wasn't a Polish speaker, I was treated like a second class citizen. Either make the audio guide much better or seperate the Polish speakers from the non-speaking tourists.
Frapptree — Google review
Nice experience! First impression then you come closer to the cave - is extreme cold. So do not forget warm clothes. The cave itself is impressive, the same as the history behind it. Guides are only in polish language, so do not forget to take audio guide at the ticket office. Deposit for it only in cash.

Zamek Książ

Mentioned on
5 lists
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Książ Castle, the largest castle in Lower Silesia, is a grand chateau-style complex situated on a hill overlooking the river Pelcznica and part of the Waldenberg mountains. Originally built in 1288 and expanded in the 16th century, it showcases Gothic, Baroque, and Rococo architectural styles. The castle offers guided tours with informative audioguides that seamlessly lead visitors through its rich history and art gallery.
Zamek Książ is a very impressive historical place to visit with rich history, culture and mystery. The palace is so huge, elegant, well maintained, super clean and well managed. Thump up for the dedicated staff. I have visited the palace few times and I well visit again as it is near impossible that you can absorbe this rich history from one visit particularly when you see the picture of Princess Daisy with her dazzling beauty and philanthropy. But I am glad that after the WWII, the castle was restored and open to the public to see first hand the beauty and charm of such amazing historical castle in the whole world. You got to see the place. You will not regret it. I recommend.
DrMido B — Google review
Super cool experience. Very well explained, more interested Always in medieval stories that WW1/2 but has best of both worlds. The building inside and out is stunning.

Zamek Książ is one of the tourist attractions that you must visit if you are nearby. The third largest castle in Poland has an interesting history and the castle tour will delight you. You can spend a whole day here without getting bored.
Enjoyfamilytravels — Google review
We walked in the summer, but wanted to see this castle last winter, which might be a bit problem as the path may have been a bit slippery. It's a nice circuit along the river, quite uphill, from St Anne's church, (ruins) through the old castle to the new chateau , which is beautiful and the park maintained, free to enter. The place is photogenic and on the way there you can stop at the viewpoint. However, choose the right part of the day not to have the sun directly to your eyes.
Hama — Google review
Unbelievable castle! Very huge with an extended park. Tha castle itself is nicely decorated and furnished. You can feel the atmosphere of the past. By official suggestion you need 2.5 hours to go round but we did it shorter because we didn't have too much time. We went on the underground tour as well which is very interesting. It was part of the Rise Project of nazi Germany. A sharp contrast with the peaceful world of the castle!! You have to climb a lot of stairs!! Be careful. But it is worth!
Gabriella S — Google review
Tickets cost around 60pln for visit a castle. The whole tour takes around 1h. The castle is really good renovated and has a lot to see. Parking cost us 30pln . With the ticket you have also entrance to the garden. I did not have to wait to visit this place
Wikson — Google review
It was an interesting visit, but there were some organizational issues. Ksiaz Castle is definitely worth a visit. The self-guided tour of the interior is interesting and informative. Seeing the original furniture and décor from different historical periods was fascinating and really helped us imagine life in those times. The castle is large, and the tour takes about one to two hours, depending on your pace. You can explore at your own pace, which is a big plus. After finishing the tour of the interior, you can access the gardens, where you can walk around, relax, and even grab a bite to eat at the café. Note that prices are on the expensive side. Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant experience with the security staff. Due to the large number of visitors, it was difficult to stop and take photos, so I wanted to walk back and capture some shots I had missed. However, I was told that going against the flow is not allowed, even though I saw someone else (not a staff member) doing so freely. It felt inconsistent and frustrating. Make sure not to skip the underground section of the tour. It provides fascinating insight into the castle’s role during WWII. It's quite cold underground, so bring a warm layer. Plan to spend about 40 minutes down there. Overall: It's a beautiful, historic place worth visiting, but be prepared for some crowd-related limitations during peak times.
Mykhailo — Google review
Better to come earlier to prevent huge queue for the tickets. Use terminals to the left from tickets office (same enter as tickets office), they were totally free. Great and clean place inside and outside. P.s. if you want to enjoy coffee after visiting castle - better stay in cafe inside (NOT on terrace), because they have huge queue and bad coffee quality. So buy inside whatever you want (as take away) and enjoy terrace view.

Church of Peace in Jawor

Lutheran church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Beautiful church made entirely out of timber! No metal used, no stones, even the nails keeping the planks together are wooden. No wonder it is a UNESCO site. There is an entry fee, and for taking photos there is another fee, so please remember to bring some cash with you.
Kamila W — Google review
The church is absolutely stunning, and well worth the visit and drive despite it being out of the way from normal tourist stops. To our surprise, when we paid the entrance fee he put English audio on over the speakers that narrated the history of the church. I know it's in several other languages as he did the same for other visitors. It was quiet and peaceful and we explored the nooks and crannies downstairs. The Church of Peace in Jawor was built in the mid-17th century after the Thirty Years’ War, when Protestants were granted the rare right to build a place of worship—but only under strict conditions. The church had to be constructed outside city walls, without a bell tower, and using only perishable materials like wood, straw, and clay. Despite these limitations, it became a stunning example of timber-frame architecture and is a marvel to wonder at today.
Molly S — Google review
Very beautiful Church made out of Timber. It is definitely worth a visit to this beautiful Church. There is an entry fee that is very minimal but they do not provide any guides in English. You have to look at the pictures to see how beautiful this church is inside. When we were there there were people working on the church refinishing portions of the art. I'm glad that they are renovating the portions that need to be done and I want to be able to support this effort.
Mike B — Google review
One of only three lutheran churches allowed to be constructed in Poland during the second half of the 17th century. Of the three, only two remain, those in Lawor and Swidnica. They now belong to the Unesco world heritage. When I visited in July of 2025 I was the only visitor. You pay an entrance fee upon which you have to pay an additional fee if you are taking photographs. The church is constructed using the same materials as in many regular houses of its time, wooden beams, clay and straw. The interior is beautifully decorated in baroque style and can seat up to 6000 people on several rows of balconies. A marvelous experience that you definitely should not miss if you are in the region of any of these two cities.

Must visit. Top architecture. No nails used while building. Stunning inside.
Anna P — Google review
A stunning example of 17th-century engineering and religious resilience. Built entirely out of wood, without nails, in just one year – and it still stands strong nearly 400 years later. A must-see for anyone interested in architecture, history, or how to outsmart imperial restrictions. And yes, they accept card payments – bless modernity.

We visited the castle and toured the rooms. Very nice setting. We did not stay at the hotel, but visited for a day. A large part of the front gate and keep was off-limits for visitors, likely due to safety and restoration, but was a disappointment for our young boys who live to explore castles. It was a nice place to explore and relax.

I took one star from the service just because they couldn't speak English and the menu was handwriten so I couldn't translate or understand then I decided not to eat there, but the staff is kind even if not speaking English, which was nice. The place had toilets, some tables and chairs to eat/chill and good parking area inside the castle. Everything really clean.

WAY to expensive tickets!!! Half, if not more, of the castle is closed off, you pay 28 PLN to see a few rooms with bunch of random furniture. Take a picture from the outside and save yourself the money! Only up is that there is free parking

This was a lot of fun. I really enjoy the old castles that let you explore every nook and cranny on your own. There’s something a lot more personal to be let alone to explore at whim. A lot of great views from the rooftops and fun camera angles. A must stop if you’re in the area. We drove over and hour to get here and it was totally worth it!

History Museums
World War II prisoner-of-war camp, known for escape attempts & featured in The Great Escape film.
Plenty of information on the history of Zagan and the Great Escape. They have a small-scale escape tunnel you can crawl through on a little sled. The museum portion is well taken care of and is accommodating of English speakers. Very clean WCs. The old camp portion is a neat place to explore, just watch your step as there are a lot of building ruins and uneven ground. The tunnel locations are marked on the ground. Harry is the easiest to find, but you can also find other ruins if you explore. Bring cash for entry.

The location of Stalag Luft III is within a beautiful forest where the ruins are located. As been stated, this is a famous World War II historical site made famous by the Steve McQueen movie "The Great Escape". Interesting walk through the ruins with informative placards.

Great wee museum, cash only entry, they take ZL and Euro. €5 entry. Museum building with detailed information and artifacts. Full recreated POW hut. Then go 1km out into the woods, still on the POW Camp site to see the site. Of bits 104 105 and tunnel Harry. You can drive there. There's also a memorial to the 50 escaped officers that were shot. Great Escape. 👍

Be aware that the museum doesn't open until 10am. That aside, it's a fantastic place to visit and helps to tell the story of life in Stalag Luft lll. I felt that I understood the escape much better after I had visited here and I consider it a must do for all fans of the story

Incredible location. Out in the middle of the woods with no restrictions on access. A poignant reminder of the bravery and determination of those that fought for the freedom of Europe. Be aware the museum nearby is closed on a Monday.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to go to the real great escape camp. My pops showed me this movie when I was 13 and I’ve watched it a lot throughout my life. So on my first euro trip I included Poland in it for a few days, rented a car and drove from Wroclaw, about 95 miles. The actual site is about a half a mile away from the museum which is really cool! The woman there didn’t speak English, you’re in zagan so it’s expected, I didn’t have cash, they require cash but she nicely let me in. I spent about two hours at stalag luft 3, there isn’t much there but remains, but it’s beautiful. Can’t believe I finally made it there.

A real experience to walk around the remains of the camp and to view where 'Harry' tunnel ran. Shocking murders by the Gestapo of 50 escapees who were selected for death from all those who made their bid for freedom during 'The Great Escape'

Kamieńczyk Waterfall is a stunning natural attraction located in the picturesque mountain environment of the Polish Karkonosze Mountains. As the highest waterfall in the Sudetes, it cascades down 27 meters in a three-stage cascade to form the beautiful Kamieńczyk Gorge. The waterfall's threshold sits at an altitude of 843 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views and photo opportunities.
Lovely walking route with a nice mix of gentle slopes at the start and a steeper incline towards the end. It was quite slippery due to the snow, so good footwear is a must. Perfect spot for kids to enjoy sledging, and the peaceful atmosphere was a big plus—hardly any crowds. The views of the forest were absolutely stunning. A hidden gem for a quiet winter day outdoors!

Beautiful waterfall and great experience! There’s a small entry fee to get closer to the falls, and they provide helmets for safety. The walk is scenic, and the view up close is amazing. Definitely worth a visit!
Sane_traveler — Google review
Nice waterfall, we got to see it strong after a rainy day. Expensive for what it is, the paid section to the bottom literally takes 5 minutes. It is cool to see however. Free to look from top. I hate they paved the path up there, it is supposed to make it accessible for seniors but nobody's grandma is going up that hill! It takes 15 minutes to walk there from the parking lot.
Petra C — Google review
Beautiful place and very short walk from the main road. There are two parking lots. The one at the entrance is small and gets full quite fast. The second one near the intersection is a good choice. The waterfall is really beautiful. It gets icy on the trail there, so crampons are highly recommended.

Lovely walk through the forest to the waterfall. Quite a steep track at the end and steps to climb to the waterfall viewing area. We were lucky that it was a quiet time and we had good views.

Waterfall is an amazing natural spot surrounded by peaceful forest. The walk to get there is easy and refreshing, and the sound of the waterfall is just magical. Great place for photos and a short hike — definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

You really should go visit Mumlava waterfall instead it's really close, it's free ( beside pay parking ) and it's a really nice area and waterfall, instead of waiting for a looooong time and pay for going down to see this waterfall.

Mumlava Falls is a picturesque alpine river cascade located in Krkonose National Park. In the fall, the park transforms into a colorful tapestry of red, orange, and gold, creating a vibrant backdrop for hiking adventures. Visitors can access the falls by hiking along marked trails through the forest. The paths offer different experiences, with one being narrow and leading through the woods while the other is wider and more accessible.
Goated beautiful waterfalls, very nice good walking track by the stream. Not too long and good for families and little kids. Easy parking next to the entrance but costs some money, overall crazy good waterfall would come again surely

So much beauty in one place. In a magnificent green forest lies a beautiful waterfall. Recommended for a visit. The road from the parking lot to the waterfall takes about fifteen minutes but goes along a well-maintained path through the forest and is very pleasant. There are various hiking trails in the area. There are several cafes to stop and refresh yourself.

It is beautiful there and the way to the waterfall is pretty chill. On the weekend were there a few people, but we did go again on a Monday and there was nobody ^^

It's not the biggest waterfall i have seen but it's one of the prettiest and it's easy to find places where the kids can jump around on the rocks and in the water, we are for sure going to come back to this area again. You have to pay for parking but it's not that expensive.

This waterfall is truly the most breathtaking natural wonder I have ever seen. It is the tallest, most powerful, and most mesmerizing sight nature could possibly create. The cascading water sparkles in the sunlight, creating the most magical rainbow views imaginable.

Glass Factory and Brewery Novosad & Son is a must-visit destination in Szklarska Poreba. The restaurant offers authentic Czech cuisine, including delicious ribs and schnitzel, complemented by a variety of tasty local beers. Visitors can also experience the living glassworks and take a tour of the factory, which is available in both Czech and English. The adjacent glass museum showcases beautiful items, adding to the overall experience.
First thing this restaurant has an English speaker which helped us a lot . The food is self is real Czech food, everything that we ordered came from a kitchen who is very familiar with the Czech kitchen. The ribs needs some hot spice but in the end everyone finished the plate, the kid’s of course took schnitzel 😏, the light beer was very tasty and I took a non-alcoholic beer which is matched to the food

Interesting tour, very friendly guide. Not available in our language (Dutch) so we choose German. Guide really made sure to talk slowly so we could understand. On other days they have English guides too, and they have printed out papers with translation to other languages. Very cool to see the craftsman and women work the glass!

Fabulous place to visit. Well organized so easy to find all the featured sites. Glass factory tour very interesting, in Czech and in English. Glass museum beautiful items. Nice restaurant to sit back and enjoy your meal.

Very interesting to see a real life glass blowing workshop, the food is good, beer is very good and the shop is dangerously awesome. The guide should speak a bit slower and try to articulate in English when kids are in the group (it was a little hard to follow her even for adults). They could improve the museum a bit (add some videos of different glass blowing techniques, put up more info in English as well, add years to the exhibits). I got the wrong order at the restaurant and there wasn't even an apology. The ladies toilet was run down an rather dirty...
Sinziana R — Google review
Worth to visit to experience the living glassworks, followed by locally brewed, very solid beer and tasty classic local food to accompany it. I need to come back for the beer baths some day, the last time unfortunately we had no time for it!

With over 125 rooms, the castle hosts numerous events and provides a rustic yet charming ambiance. The friendly staff and on-site market add to the overall atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a tasty restaurant, cafe, and even sample honey mead. The castle's beautiful location offers great views and a medieval vibe inside.
Amazing 🤩 we had a tour guide Karolina. She was great, all the knowledge and facts were great. We had a lot of fun walking up and down the secret corridors. Beautiful castle with amazing views around it.

If it’s your first time visiting a castle, get ready for a real-life fairy tale moment! 😍 The view of the castle is simply breathtaking — like something straight out of a storybook. 📖💫 I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time! Truly a place that fills your heart with wonder. 💖 Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience a little enchantment!

I’m leaving my opinion with regards to the visit to the castle, not the hotel. Unfortunately the trip went bad. We have a 2 years old daughter and my wife is 7 months pregnant. Usually this is not an issue and we are used to travel quite a lot, our daughter as well. We visit castles, museums etc. When a visit involves going down or up a very narrow tower or suffocating space, the guide informs visitors in advance. Well, not here. The group was quite numerous for those spaces and at the end of the tour, we were invited to visit the cellars but, little did we know that this involved going down a very very claustrophobic space. So my wife had to go back almost fainting and my little daughter didn’t handle that and I had to follow my wife. Of course with ZERO help from the guide or other visitors. That was just..bad. Overall the experience as a human was negative.
Marco N — Google review
As a foreigner non polish speaking person the experience was mediocre at best. We were told that we could not see the castle unless we joined a tour. They only offered polish speaking tours apparently. The guide seemed mad at us for being there. Very poorly serviceminded. The castle it self was beautiful. But would it recommend for non polish speakers.
Jackie L — Google review
The promotional materials claim that the castle looks like something out of Harry Potter… well, that’s quite an exaggeration. I get that they need to attract tourists somehow, but the PR team really let their imagination run wild here. Take that description with about 2% truth—maybe even less. But the surroundings, especially in autumn, are truly beautiful.
L S — Google review
Fantastic place to visit with great history. As a hotel I would say it mid-range, with simple breakfast and small car park. But the surroundings makes up for that. And quite expensive to be honest.
Przemek A — Google review
It’s true that the castle and its grounds are spectacular — perched above the river with rose gardens and fountains, with its old walls and ramparts intact. The hotel, on the other hand, is a letdown. First, hotel parking was not free nor was it close to the castle. Written info on the castle is not available in English (confusing, as some signage inside is in English). There is no seating in the lobby, which is OK only when weather is nice. The vast majority of the castle is not accessible, nor was a tour offered when I checked in. There are amenities listed online and in their brochure that do not exist (e.g. a sauna and spa facilities). Wifi was spotty and at times did not work at all. think it’s a shame that one of Europe’s most spectacular castle hotels is, as it turns out, not very nice at all.
Jacob O — Google review
I was expecting more, at least something like Książ. Unfortunately, the group was quite big and noisy and at times it was hard to hear the guide. The castle itself is just average, not more than that. The ticket price is 10 euros for an adult, which is 5 times more expensive than in some Spanish castles. I wouldn't go there again and wouldn't recommend it to my friends either.

Nature area famous for its sandstone spires, with wooded hiking paths passing between the rocks.
Absolutely gorgeous place, if you ever saw those Instagram videos of those insane views, this is the place. There are 4 different routes, but I can't recommend just one, I would suggest going all of them, as each one has something different packed in it. Just a heads up for claustrophobic people the green route has some pretty harsh passthroughs. But overall a must visit.
Adam M — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. Breathtaking views, especially after you climb to the top. There are several trails there. We chose the green trail, which is considered the most beautiful. Highly recommended. I recommend arriving early, especially in season, to ensure there is a parking space. After that, the parking shortage begins.

Beautiful place! Some amazing walking/hiking routes! You could spend all day there. Place git busy after 10AM and started to get rediculously busy around 12. My only complaint is the price of the parking!! 500czk (20€)?? We arrived in a van.. Ended up parking 2km away. We saved 10€ per kilometer!

The well-maintained nature park offers some lovely woodland walks, tranquility, and is easily accessible. The highlight is the Cretaceous sandstone formations, covering approximately one square kilometer. Pfarrkirche St. Peter und Paul, also known as Peterskirche, is a remarkable Gothic church with impressive twin spires and a distinctive copper roof. One of its main attractions is the renowned 1700s "solar organ," crafted by Eugenio Casparini, which produces beautiful music that captivates visitors. Guided tours are available several times a week for those who want to experience the enchanting sounds of this world-famous instrument.
Amazing church ⛪️ As an agnostic myself, I felt very impressive aura inside. Great architecture!
Akhmed K — Google review
On a picturesque bank holiday, my family and I ventured to Görlitz, eager to immerse ourselves in its enchanting old town, highlighted by the imposing St. Peter's and Paul's church. Dominating the skyline with its majestic twin towers, the church stands as a beacon of the Middle Ages, casting its historical spell over the town. However, our excitement was tempered by disappointment as we discovered the church to be closed. Despite this setback, its exterior beauty alone was enough to leave us in awe, imagining the splendor hidden within its walls. While unable to explore its interior, the church undeniably serves as a captivating centerpiece of Görlitz's rich history. Despite the missed opportunity, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this architectural gem, a testament to Görlitz's storied past and a must-see for any enthusiast of historical marvels.

From what we could see, the building was indeed beautiful and impressive. Unfortunately we arrived in the middle of a performance on the church organ, and so it was not possible to wander around. We sat through about fifteen minutes of fairly simple tunes, with commentary, after which we got up and left (and although entrance is free, and we hadn't come for the organ performance, there was someone asking for donations at the exit). Outside, we looked at the view (also quite impressive) for a few minutes, then walked round the back of the church. As we did so, we heard some tremendous playing - we thought it was probably a piece by Bach, although we couldn't actually identify it - and stood by a wooden door to listen. We went on a Thursday and arrived at about 12:20. So my advice is - check before you go that there is no event scheduled, and if you do go to an organ performance, stay to the end (but maybe take something to read during the first half hour).

Relaxed accommodations in a restored hotel with a low-key restaurant, a spa & a rustic tavern.
Excellent experience at this beautiful, well-located hotel. Booked an economy room and received an upgraded room with a complementary bottle of wine. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Lunch and dinner were very good and the breakfast buffet was exceptional -- the best we saw after a couple weeks of travel through the Czech Republic.

Only 1 very very desapointing thing! Let's be clear: this luxury hotel and its location, on the top of the hill, as a starting point for walks and hikes in the forest and rocks, are just ideal: wonderful view, nice restaurant, castle-chambers, etc. Unfortunately, one thing really spoiled our stay: breakfast! The breakfast is unworthy of a 4* hotel and is more like that of a bad 2*. Almost all the products are industrial or chemical and of such low-cost quality that you can feel it immediately when you start eating them. The chemical fruit juices (if available, as 2 of 4 were empty during our stay) come from a vending machine and are made from the worst quality water+concentrate: they are disgusting. Both sweet (cakes, etc.) and savoury (ham, cheese, sausage, etc.) products seem to have come out of their packaged plastic bags (not all of them), and the bread doesn't seem to be freshly cooked. The hot drinks (coffee, chocolate, etc.) are dispensed by a simple, low-quality vending machine, just like in any office, and are just bad. And as I wanted to fall back on scrambled eggs, the container was empty and I had to report this and wait 10 minutes (along with all the other customers) for the dish to be refilled. The staff (probably not enough of them in this place) are absent for the customers, as they are too busy running between the kitchen and the breakfast room... Really undignified and quite awful.
Bilbo P — Google review
Unbeatable view. While the room is a bit dated, it fits the charm of an old castle. However, during our 4-day stay, the room was never cleaned. Unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. We also asked the front desk for hiking recommendations, but no guidance or maps were given, which is disappointing given that most guests come for the hiking.
Onn H — Google review
We booked 3 nights in the 4 star hotel part, bathroom was old and only had a bath no shower, no shower curtain and no place to hang the shower head. The entire bathroom would get wet. The bed did not feel flat which hurt my back after the first night (I’m 34 yo). Location for hiking is great!
Linda S — Google review
Worst hotel I've ever been. The castle has a great facade, but as soon as you enter the building, everything is worn down, moldy bathroom which you cannot lock. When you lie on the bed you can count the springs poking in your back. We are hiking, arrived at 6 o'clock in the evening, leaving tomorrow at 8 in the morning. That gives 14 hours that I'll never get back in my life. The room is ugly as hell, no cozy lighting in the room, moldy carpet. Shared bathroom, which you cannot lock, as I said before, I just can't get over it. It is not the only thing that does not lock: the window in the room. It also stinks here. At least the hallway is freshly painted so it smells of paint, instead of the nasty old moldy turd-smell in the room. For some reason, the doorknob at the inside of our room does not work, so we can only open it with our key from the inside. It does work from the outside. The food in the restaurant was ok-ish. But the service was not. They gave us our food but we had no cutlery, we had to wait 5 minutes watching our food get colder whilst trying to get some cutlery. I went to the bar to ask for some and he just said to wait until they would bring it. When we left I saw that the cutlery was lying next to the bar. Why not just give it to me when I came asking for it??? We asked for dessert and they said 'ok' and went running off, no time to also order a coffee and tea. 5 minutes later we got some random dessert of a menu we didn't order. By then we thought to not waste more time on trying to get what we really wanted, ate the dessert as fast as we could and just go. When we went outside I felt really unhappy with where I was, the service and the disappointment of being in a place that only wants you to hate it. I beg you to not come here! 👎

Updated review: Another wonderful magical stay! Coming back 5 years after we had our wedding here and with our son, I was worried it would not live up to my memories, but it exceeded them! The whole surrounding area is seriously enchanting with extraordinary nature walks, easy and unbelievably beautiful. The views cannot be matched, and the spa balcony is unreal! The staff of the hotel went above and beyond even with our more unusual requests. They upgraded us to the wedding suite which made our entire stay and allowed us to relive our best memories. The food is super tasty, the rooms and hotel are a little outdated, but have such magical character that it can totally be overlooked (especially for such a decent price). Still a hidden gem with mostly Czech tourists so feels super authentic As a modern princess with a romantic adventurous character, but without a princess's budget, I will say this is the ideal place and we will definitely be coming back as soon as possible. Wonderful castle in gorgeous surroundings. Our wedding there was perfect! For the ceremony, meals, party and as a hotel. All our guests loved it and the staff went out of their way for us... Despite the rain and some logistical difficulties it was absolutely magical!

Visitors can enjoy sea lion and penguin feeding times as well as elephant training sessions.
I really enjoyed the Liberec Zoo. Even though it’s not very big, I liked that it has not only common animals but also rare ones, like the red panda. I think if you live in Liberec, you should visit it at least once. 😻🫶

I left the place with tears in my eyes. In my life I have visited many zoos in many places around the world, but I have never seen animals so sad, exhausted, neglected. The place is really depressing. There are many restaurants and play areas for children there. The signage is simply terrible! We followed the exit sign and it took us right to the other end of the zoo and we had to walk about fifteen minutes to the parking lot.

Nice mid-sized zoo ( the first one founded in Czech Republic in 1904) where one can easily spend 2-3 hours. Animals look happy and taken care of. Food inside is ok to feed the kids.

365 days of the year it costs from 85p ( €1) Its on their website. Tickets for qualifying not avsilavle from machine only at desk. Not the place for animal lovers. Poor male lion was just really suffereing through lack of stimulus and just taking 2-3 steps and turning around. Solitary elephant. Solitary tapier with nothing. No access to bedding. Like the lion just pacing up and down.A pond but securly fenced off. Solitary elephant just a small concrete surface clearly suffering No grass or vegetation like most enclosures. Painfull to see Flamingos rubbing their beaks on hard ground desparately wanting the right conditions. I could go on but definitely a place to miss. The botanical gardens are 5 mins walk away. I was there in April 2025, so i opted for the €1 Euro zoo as little in flower. Big mistake I do hope Trust pilot publish because we need the trooth

If the volières for the animals weren’t so tiny I would have given this place 5*. Animals were bored because they hadn’t enough space. Especially it concerns larger species. Seeing them in those prison cages was very sad. 😢 If I had money I would definitely invest into a reconstruction of that place! 😖

Very nice zoo with special white tigers - the main attraction. Definitely worth visiting while in town. You can spend there like 2 hours. The cats seems to have a smaller rooms that I would expected. That’s actually similar for all animals here - you would think they should have more space but yeah, it’s a zoo 🤷🏼‍♂️ there is only one restaurant and one cafe so when visiting during weekend the line was ridiculous.
Pavel B — Google review
We visited this zoo with our 2 kids. The entrance price is very affordable (€5,- for adults) and the zoo itself looks nice with lots of trees. Many cages are kinda small for the animals and needs renovation. There are 2 play ereas for the kids. Both are fun and looks neat.

iQLANDIA is a family-friendly science museum that offers hands-on educational displays, demonstrations, and experiments. It combines the concepts of an amusement park and a cutting-edge scientific research center to provide an exciting and intriguing experience for visitors. The museum features dynamic robots, astronaut training sessions, bottled lightning, safe firestorms, and interactive items that help kids learn the laws of nature. iQLANDIA also boasts the Czech Republic's first humanoid robot and offers authentic space training experiences.
One of the best science centers we've seen! Can easily beat the one in Bremen and compares to the Amsterdam's Nemo. Everything works, explanations in 4 languages (CZ, EN, DE, PL). Fun for kids 7-8+ as well as adults. We spent 5 hours there and it was not enough (we experimented and read most of the info points). Very mich recommended!
Alikus2000 — Google review
One of the best science museums I've visited. An experience for the whole family. We were there for several hours and left feeling like we hadn't exhausted ourselves. Lots of halls with different themes, kids really enjoyed it and so did we, the parents. Paid parking on site. Very impressive!
Eddy T — Google review
Very friendly and informative. Wish he gave us the tour for the entire museum! Would come back again because of him!

Only if your child truly enjoys science. One child liked it, while the other two did not. I tried to get a refund or go outside and return for the planetarium show, but that wasn't possible.

A great place for all the family. Multi levels to explore themed around concepts, space maths etc. There is also an observatory simulation to watch an interesting space show. But must book in advance. Parking is Simplon pay as you go. We really liked the design and I am surprised why more cities don't have places like this.
Raj B — Google review
Good to visit, when weather is not advising to be outside. Many interactive objects, 5 floors, pram accessable. Nice canteen. From minuses: some spaces has not enough breathable air and WCs has no space for babies to change diapers.
Olga G — Google review
We enjoyed a lot as a whole family, There is some stuff that will make fun for adults, for bigger children and also for smaller ones. We also liked the idea of having a separate floor dedicated to different areas. Things like thermovision camera, water floor, the option to test yourself as a TV person presenting the weather, The music spectacle from lightning and many, many more. There is also a bar, but we did not try. You can spend all day there if in need to check all what they have there. Worth to mention that this attraction is also part of verall package with the overnight hotel stay and you can use it even after checkout, but need to inform at the font desk to get a pass.
Lukasz D — Google review
A must-to experience: every school supposed to be like this: there would be much more talents on the world, instead of taking away cildren's interest about sciences in a boring classroom, forced them to sit there for hours...

Perched atop a high peak, Ještěd is home to a unique combination of a restaurant, hotel, and television tower. Visitors can reach this iconic spot by road or cable car. From Prague, buses depart from Cerny most metro station up to 25 times per day. The area offers an array of dining options ranging from traditional Czech pubs serving hearty local fare to bistro cafes with stunning views of the surrounding nature.
For your information, there is no cable car to the top, it is out of commission as of September 10th, 2024. Absolutely incredible view. Totally worth hiking up 1 hour to the top to get these amazing view of the mountains, valleys and the city view.
Buster I — Google review
We happened to get here on a morning of heavy fog that made it impossible to even see the tower from below. It takes about 15-20 minutes to climb from the upper parking lot to the tower itself. It's a very steep climb and not suitable for people with walking problems. But once it starts to clear up, amazing views will be revealed. The tower itself is now a hotel. There is a plaza with benches for observation and a small kiosk with drinks, food, and souvenirs. Please note that payment at the upper parking lot is cash only.

Popular peak near Liberec. A bit too popular to my liking: there were a lot of people, even though it was a weekday. The path up was also quite rocky. On the bright side, the views were nice and the prices for food and drinks are quite reasonable, given the location.

Good hiking at the top, only the uphill is at the start, than it is quite easy. Good views on the city and around nature from here. Inside the Jested it is not so beautiful and not very good coffee and food.

A beautiful and fascinating building – I’ve always wanted to visit this place and finally got the chance to see the interior. The view from the top is absolutely stunning. This is a must-visit destination for every tourist coming to the Czech Republic.

The surreal and beautiful transmission tower has a remarkably delicious restaurant with warm service. The amuse bouche was a watermelon feta gazpacho and whet the appetite. Following was fabulous smoked salmon and a delicious oyster mushroom main dish. Loved the whole experience.

Nice walk up the mountain with good weather. We parked a bit up the mountain as the cable car was out of function and we didn't want to do the full hike. Still a nice half our trail up, with pretty views. Jested is nice to see at the top and get a snack or drink. Depending on the weather I would do this again.

The ŠKODA Muzeum is a museum located in a renovated production plant that showcases the history of the famous Czech auto brand through classic cars. It is an ideal destination for anyone interested in learning about Czech auto history as it offers an informative tour with knowledgeable guides. The admission rates are reasonable and there is a gift area for auto enthusiasts. In addition to the main museum, visitors can also request to see the depositary where raw gems are kept in a separate building.
Incredible experience. My partner arranged me an English speaking guided tour, and the tour guide was fantastic. Really informative and interesting. Explained the history to me which was fascinating. My highlight was the race car section upstairs. Coffee shop was great too. A must visit if you’re near Prague

Nice museum showing good insight into Skoda as one of the most innovative companies of the CEE region! All exhibits are described in Czech, German and English. There is also a artistic display of key moments and personalities i Czech history upstairs. Definitely ask about sports and prototypes exhibiton. Plus a good Restaurant / Cafe Vaclav on the spot.

Great museum with meticulously restored cars dating back to the beginning of 20th century. I was surprised by the variety of models Skoda produced over its history. Sport and prototypes depository is a must visit (included in museum entry ticket).
Vitaly I — Google review
It's cool to see the company history and all the different cars/bikes but it is a very limited museum. There is another guided tour you can book in advance which might be more engaging
Jonny H — Google review
As a Skoda fan I really enjoyed the museum. Due to a ticket problem, I was hugely disappointed to not be able to tour the factory. I have six Skoda's and about to buy a seventh, but nothing helped with my appeal for entry.
Ray K — Google review
Absolutely brilliant if you're into cars and Czech history - this place delivers on both fronts. The collection traces Skoda's journey from the early days to modern engineering, and it's genuinely fascinating how much innovation came out of this company. You get a real sense of Czech industrial pride and resilience through the decades. IMPORTANT: Book the factory tour at least 3 weeks in advance - it's worth it. You'll see current production, learn about future models, and get the full story from past to present. The museum alone is great, but the factory tour takes it to another level. Even if you're not a car person, the historical context and Czech culture woven throughout makes it compelling. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Really cool🤩here is why: - 🅿️ close and cheep - short and easy-ish access😇 - thought it’s a ruin, it’s well maintained - beautiful landscape, stunning walls and remains of the Castle. Wide range of terrains and and architecture. - restaurant✅ - Kids friendly (in our case 4,6 years old) - it also includes many different indoor expositions (DE & CZ) One of our top 5 ruins✅ Recommended🤙

Our historical experience takes around 1,5 hour to explore whole castle. Majestic views, beautiful scenery and vibeish architecture. In the midl is small kiosk ( very expensive) the entrance per adult 8€, good price 😁. You are free to walk around, make a photos & videos 😊. Parking has two options, near the castle or under the hill and then 30 min walk. We preferred the walk 😉

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled on a prominent rock overlooking the Sazava River, Český Šternberk Castle is a Gothic and Baroque marvel dating back to the 13th century. It is still owned by the original family who built it nearly 800 years ago. The castle boasts well-preserved Gothic architecture with some later Baroque additions.
Beautiful and impressive place. The interiors very interesting and in a good shape. Visiting the castle is only possible with the guide who talks in Czech, but we got our leaflets with all info in Polish. The tour takes approx. 1 hour. On Sunday the tours were quite often so we didn't have to wait long for the next one. You have to pay extra for the possibility to take pictures inside.

Český Šternberk Castle is a stunning medieval fortress perched above the Sázava River. Beautifully preserved, with rich interiors and a unique family history that goes back to the 13th century. One of the must-visit castles in the Czech Republic.
Jura B — Google review
Extremely interesting location! Half an hour to drive from Prague. Good parking, 50 CZK (2 euro) (it is necessary to pay in the Castle when buying entrance tickets - 250 CZK - 10 euro). The castle belongs to one of the descendants of the Sternberg family. Inside you will see a lot of interesting things, rooms, furnitures - knight's hall, salon, chapel, ladies' salon, library (3500 copies of old books), dining room, office, hall, smoking room, bedroom, hunting salon. The tour takes about an hour in Czech. But there is a printed description in other languages, the description should be taken free of charge when buying tickets. In the courtyard of the castle is a nice restaurant with normal prices. Definitely recommend to anyone interested in medieval castles

Wasn’t able to catch a tour as we went in the evening in November and they closed at 2pm. However, this was a blessing, as we captured such an amazing sunset, and the gorgeous autumn colors of the forests around the castle were spectacular! There are walking trails all around, amazing views from the town below, and very few people around.
Quinton W — Google review
It may not be the most famous castle, but it is a genuine example of a working castle that is lived in by the same family that built the original part of the castle in 1241. The history in between was somewhat turbulent for the family, which makes for a fascinating story, and the visit was all the more memorable for that. I am glad I took the tour. Thanks to my tour guide, Maria.

A well maintained castle in a beautiful area. Very happy they offer English tours. Our guide was knowledgeable, shared a lot of information and was able to answer all our questions. She was very patient with us and had a warm personality. You can get a few refreshing drinks and snacks to enjoy in the court. Very good homemade lemonades. The prices are mostly fair, though they ask for a €2 camera license if you want to take pictures, which is absolutely silly.

Sights & Landmarks
Hilltop castle with grand rooms, a collection of 17th-century maps, a winery & scenic restaurant.
The place has an unmistakable spirit. Drahomira's (mother of St.Wenceslaus) supposed place of origin offers spectacular views towards Prague, hill of Rip and obviously the nearby spot where rivers of Moldau an Elbe blend. Enjoy the castle and the spectacular diagonal lane to the river. 9

The lady who manages the castle visits called us from outside and asked us if we wanted to visit the castle (she only knew two words of English, so communicating was difficult), after paying for the tickets (she only accepts cash) she shows us the stairs and gives us a flyer with some information on the (few) rooms of the castle. In one of the first rooms we meet a group of visitors with a guide who spoke Czech, the room was very small so we tried to reach the next one but got yelled at by the lady, she does not speak English and continues to speak in her language towards us, we try to explain to her that we don't understand a single thing she is saying but she continues to shake her head, in the end one of the visitors knew some English and told us that we couldn’t visit the castle without a guide to supervise us, so we were forced to stay in these small rooms with a group of twenty people listening to a guide who didn't speak our language, there is nothing more stupid... it was not possible to take photos and there are only seven rooms (and they don't even look like royal rooms, you can see that the rooms have been renovated several times in recent years), the city is nice for a walk but being not very touristy, even the locals are not predisposed to foreigners.

The Czech Republic 🇨🇿 has not only a reputation as a beer 🍺 country. The Elbe Lowland is one of the most northern wine 🍇 regions in Europe. The traditional stone terraces on the southwestern bank of the river Elbe create the perfect micro climate for winegrowing.🏞 The grapes are processed in a way to become lively, reductive, light wines with a typical bloomy and fruity varietal aroma. 💐 Take a tour to Melnik, a city situated about half hour drive north of Prague. Your celler master takes you through 14th century wine cellar and offers you local wines to taste🍷🥂, accompanied by freshly baked local bread as well as cheese and other snacks.🥖🧀👍

Žižkov Television Tower

Observation Decks & Towers
The Žižkov Television Tower is an iconic landmark in Prague, designed by Vaclav Aulicky and completed in 1992. Despite being considered one of the ugliest buildings globally, it remains a fascinating attraction due to its distinctiveness. The tower offers a viewing platform with 360-degree views, along with restaurants and a luxury hotel. Situated in the trendy Žižkov neighborhood, the sky-high restaurant and bar provide international cuisine and stunning city views.
The Prague TV Tower is a fairly popular place not only as a viewpoint, but also as an art zone (sculptures of children crawling on the tower). But everyone goes here anyway for the "unsurpassed view of Prague". Frankly speaking, the view from 95~ meters, although interesting and truly incredible, cannot be compared with the view from the tower of St. Vitus Cathedral, which is located at approximately the same height, and from it you can see almost all the iconic buildings of Prague. Of course, you can note the opportunity to eat with a view of Prague, but not at a slightly lower height (60~ meters). In general, if you want to see the view of Prague from this place - you can go up, but the view from St. Vitus Cathedral is better and cheaper, although the ascent is not by elevator.
Дмитро — Google review
An incredible feat of architecture, with a turn for the obscure. The Žižkov television tower stands above the Prague skyline like an imposing sword, contrasting the historical neighbourhood which surrounds it. Completed in 1992, the tower boasted unique radio transmission technology. Some of the pods are open to the public for a panoramic view for around 15€. The addition of the peculiar baby sculptures happened later, in the year 2000. They are now immitations of the original David Černý sculptures that were first displayed on the tower. Although I can’t speak on the view from up above as I had no time to ascend, this tower has probed itself to me as worthy of being one of Prague’s greatest attractions. Gorgeous and worth visiting if only from down below!
Ioana — Google review
Very fun place. Loved that it wasn't too busy and there was lots of room to walk around 93m up. Huge windows, great views. Fun art installations, videos and chairs/sofas added to it all. 18-26 year old get reduced entry. Loved the climbing babies art too. Very funky! The antithesis of historic Prague - but that was its attraction for me. NOTE: Bring cash. Not sure why card machine is broken but it is!
Paul L — Google review
Built from 1985 to 1992, while being very unconventional visible even from almost all viewpoints of Prague, is a testament of trchnological and structural innovation. Now it has techbology more or less from the past, but it shows how much we have grown and how beautiful the city of Prague is. This TV tower is very easy to get to from the Subway, but the small little journey to it is already beautiful, and complements the tower more. The views are incredible, and remind of the tower in Berlin.
Eduard L — Google review
Good points: quick to get to on excellent public transport. Lots of chairs. Not busy. You can right up to the glass. Bad points. Other people have got right up to the glass and appeared to have smeared their entire bodies along it. Clean the windows! It's 15 euros. You can get a lot of window cleaning spray for that price. A very old looking sign saying the credit card machine is out of order. Yeah right. But you managed to get an ATM in there. I'm calling BS on that. Toilets are locked. Again 15 euros. Sort that out.
Julie G — Google review
This was our second visit, this time at night. The views were wonderful, looking across Prague all lit up. Photos are a bit difficult to take due to the glass and reflections from the dimly lit rooms. Definitely one for the list of must-dos.
Steve S — Google review
This uniquely shaped tower offers fantastic 360° views of Prague. But, I found the interior a little dull and uninspiring. No details on the towers history or construction. There is no exterior observation deck. So you'll have take photos through the glass and try to avoid glare. Trying to get back down the tower took a long time as a line up had formed and apparently no one is counting how many people are going up and eventually back down. But, overall, it is a worthwhile destination just for the views alone.
D M — Google review
The Prague Television Tower is a striking landmark offering panoramic views of the entire city, making it a great spot for photography. The restaurant at the top provides a unique dining experience, but it’s important to pre-book in advance. A must-visit for anyone wanting a combination of sightseeing and fine dining.

The National Gallery Prague – Trade Fair Palace, an extension of the National Gallery, is a stunning example of Czech Functionalist architecture. Originally built as a space for trade fairs, it now showcases classic and modern art from renowned artists such as Josef Manes, Pablo Picasso, and Bohumil Kubista. After undergoing renovations following a fire in the late 70s and 80s, the current building was completed in the 1990s.
This is am amazing museum! I just loved the floor with the history and examples of Czechoslovakian architecture. We arrived at the museum in the afternoon and we didn't have much time, therefore we bought the cheapest tickets for 3 floors, but we could only look through 2 of them. We easily spent 1 hour on each floor.

Make sure you have time because it’s gigantic!! We spent roughly 2-3 here and we did not even read all the history texts. The fact that it’s so huge is also a positive thing because I’m 100% sure you will at least find one art piece to your liking. I’ve added some of my favorite pieces down below. I find the first painting (the ice castle) so magnificent, I even bought a poster of it at the gift shop. The gift shop mainly had books, posters, cards and smaller items such as glasses cloths. The shop was really affordable compared to other gift shops (Kunsthalle Praha….) I got a poster and a glasses cloth and it was only 550 krona!!! Definitely recommend if you love to wander around for a while!!

A truly essential visit for modern and contemporary art lovers in Prague. The building itself is a monumental and spacious example of Functionalist architecture (Veletržní palác, 1925-1929), providing a calm and excellent setting for the collections. The exhibitions are fantastically curated. Collection highlights include masterpieces from international artists like Monet, Picasso, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Matisse, and Rodin. What makes this gallery truly special, however, is the thoughtful and powerful integration of Czech masters (such as Václav Špála and Josef Šíma) displayed alongside the international collection—perfect for discovering new, influential artists. From early 20th-century Cubism to Expressionism and contemporary works, the quality and volume of art here are exceptional. Highly recommended for the inspiring collection and excellent curation.

One of the best collections of paintings and sculptures from the last 200 years. Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Munch, Van Gogh, it goes on and on. Spent almost 4 hours on a rainy Wednesday checking out the paintings on the 3rd and 4th floor, well worth the price of admission.

The collections of Czech art here are outstanding; such a comprehensive body of works from the 1800s onward. There are excellent contemporary artworks as well as a handful of works by blue chip artists like Picasso, Gauguin, Klimt, etc. The Aleš Veselý special exhibition (on through 22-02-26) is very worthwhile. The Trade Fair Palace itself is an architecturally notable building that makes a great venue for viewing art.

A lovely museum. This was my second time here, and it was just as great as last time! The building itself is very cool and of course the art too:) There were three floors in the permanent exhibition, with a lot of descriptive texts accompanying the artworks and exhibition. I really liked the way it was presented! It was also a reasonable price:) Won’t be my last time!!

A very large gallery with too much for one visit. Amazing collection of art which we thought was well curated with helpful commentary in English. There was a clear concept of what the NGP were doing with the different works and we discovered Czech artists we knew nothing about. We spent quite a lot of a day there and it was not at all crowded. The cafe was also very good with nice food and tea and the staff were friendly. A great visit and good value.

I can’t recommend. Very poor exhibition. The best art is on the top floor… nice cafe downstairs…

St. George's Basilica

Basilica
Museums
St. George's Basilica, part of Prague Castle, is a 10th-century religious structure that has undergone numerous renovations and alterations over the years. Despite this, it has managed to preserve its attractive Romanesque form. The current structure with twin towers dates back to the mid-12th century, while its fine facade was added in the 17th century. Notable features include the tombs of historical figures such as Vlatislav and Duke Boleslav II.
😇 St. George's Basilica is the oldest surviving church building within Prague Castle, Prague, Czech Republic. The basilica was founded by Vratislaus I of Bohemia in 920. It is dedicated to Saint George. Primarily Romanesque in style, it is part of the collection of buildings that comprise the castle, the political capital of the nation, and the spiritual center of the Czech state.

One of the most significant Romanesque monuments in Prague, this church is the second oldest in the city and was founded around 920. The church, located on Jiřské Square, is distinguished by two white stone spires, 41 m high. The wider southern tower is called "Adam", and the narrower northern tower is called "Eva" and stands at a slight angle (about 40 cm).

Nice place but not really a lot of exhibits here, the cathedral is much better to visit. If need to save time can skip this very old basilica.

Amazing medieval basilica, in my opinion much more interesting than the nearby St. Vitus cathedral (and with a little bit less tourists). Originally built in 10th century, this was the second church in the church complex (the first has been destroyed ages ago), originally in romanesque style but later reconstructions have altered the church's appearance. Amazing wall paintings!

One of the oldest churches in Prague, it is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. While the exterior of the basilica is truly breathtaking, its interior maintains its historical character. Inside the basilica are a tomb, a statue, and large sections of wall with ancient figures on them. It's definitely worth a visit.

Built in the early 900’s, this Basillica (based on its architectural style) is extremely beautiful. The new baroque exterior belies what you will see inside. The Romanesque design and ceiling along with its historic importance are obvious. Saint Ludmila is buried here, on the right sight of the alter. She is the mother of Saint Wenceslas and the first Czech person to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church.

St. George’s Basilica in Prague Castle is a truly beautiful and historic place. Its architecture is stunning, and the atmosphere inside is peaceful and full of history. Standing in front of it is a wonderful experience, especially if you take a moment to admire the details. I highly recommend visiting it more than once, each visit reveals something new and special about this remarkable place.

One of the oldest surviving churches in Prague Castle, the basilica conceals its early Romanesque core behind a later Baroque façade. Inside, the change is dramatic – narrow ashlar walls, small rounded windows, and a timber ceiling mark a sober 12th-century space rebuilt after fire. Fresco fragments still colour the apse, and the crypt below retains stone columns and a painted vault. Though later restored, the structure preserves a unique gravity – heavy, architectural, and enduring.

Sights & Landmarks
St. Vitus Cathedral is a Gothic masterpiece and a resting place for saints like Vitus, Wenceslas, and Adalbert. It's part of the Prague Castle district, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a mix of architectural styles. The cathedral features twin towers and houses the tomb of St. Wenceslas and the crown jewels. Visitors can also admire gurning gargoyles and stunning stained-glass windows, including one by artist Alfons Mucha.
I didnt actually go on a tour but I went up to the castle a vigorous but doable walk for a senior. The castle and surroundings are amazing and definitely worth the trip. The tour would probably be even better. Every hour on the hour they change the guard. Its a great show. Prague is the most beautiful city I've seen and the Castle was the topping on the cake

St. Vitus Cathedral is truly a masterpiece and one of the most breathtaking landmarks I have ever visited. The moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by incredible Gothic architecture, beautiful stained-glass windows, and a sense of history that fills every corner of the cathedral. It’s located within Prague Castle, which makes the visit even more special since you can explore the entire castle complex at the same time. Getting in was surprisingly easy there was no waiting line, and the entry process was smooth and well organized. The details in the interior are stunning; every column, sculpture, and window tells a story. The atmosphere inside is peaceful and awe inspiring, especially when sunlight passes through the colorful glass. If you’re visiting Prague, St. Vitus Cathedral is an absolute must-see. It’s not only a symbol of the city’s rich history but also one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture in Europe.

A breathtaking masterpiece — a must-see in Prague! St. Vitus Cathedral absolutely took my breath away. The moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by stunning Gothic architecture, intricate stained-glass windows, and an atmosphere that feels almost otherworldly. The sunlight streaming through the colorful glass paints the walls in beautiful shades — it’s hard not to just stand there and stare in awe. Climbing up the tower is definitely worth it too — the view of Prague from the top is spectacular, especially on a clear day. You can see the red rooftops, the river, and the whole city spread out beneath you. It’s a bit of a climb, but totally worth the effort. Even if you’re not religious, the history and craftsmanship here are fascinating. The details on every arch, sculpture, and window tell stories that go back centuries. I’d recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the big crowds, and take your time walking around the Prague Castle complex — it’s all connected and full of history. Overall, St. Vitus Cathedral is one of the most beautiful and memorable places I’ve ever visited.

High above Prague towers St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest Gothic church in the Czech Republic, mausoleum for the Bohemian kings, and repository of the Bohemian crown jewels. The history of this imposing structure begins around 930, when Duke Wenceslaus I commissioned the construction of a Romanesque rotunda to house a relic, an arm, of St. Vitus. The presence of this relic contributed to the conversion of the local population to Christianity. This proved successful, as in 1060 Prince Spytihněv II decided to commission a new, larger Romanesque basilica to replace the rotunda. The new basilica also housed the tomb of Duke Wenceslaus I, who had since been canonized. After the Bishop of Prague was elevated to archbishop, King John the Blind laid the foundation stone for the current Gothic cathedral on November 21, 1344. Ultimately, the cathedral took 585 years to build (in phases), and it wasn't officially consecrated until 1929. This exceptionally long construction period certainly paid off. The building is 124 meters long, 34 meters high, and has three towers; the large south tower rises another 11 meters above the two 88-meter-high west towers. The most noteworthy elements of the interior are the magnificent stained-glass windows, several of which were designed by Alphonse Mucha. There are also the royal tombs: Charles IV, Rudolf II, Ferdinand I, and Maximilian II (all King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor) are buried in the cathedral. Furthermore, the Bohemian Crown Jewels (including the Crown of Saint Wenceslas) have been kept here since 1791. These are rarely shown to the public (replicas are on display in the Royal Palace). So, there's more than enough to admire in St. Vitus Cathedral!

2025-October St. Vitus Cathedral is gothically beautiful and definitely worth a visit while exploring Prague Castle. The stained-glass windows and Gothic details are impressive, and the size of the cathedral adds to its grandeur. However, having seen cathedrals in Rome and Madrid, I’d say St. Vitus doesn’t quite reach that same level of awe. It’s still remarkable, but it felt more like a historical landmark than a deeply moving experience. Still, it’s one of the top highlights within the Prague Castle complex and absolutely worth seeing.

I was amazed by St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest and most important cathedral in the Czech Republic. Words cannot describe the cathedral's size; just walking around it takes minutes. The cathedral's interior is truly stunning. There's a large main altar, several smaller altars, and wonderful historical sculptures and paintings on the walls. The cathedral is only open from 12:00 to 15:40, and it gets incredibly crowded. Don't leave Prague without visiting this cathedral.

Architecture is nothing less than insane. There is no picture I can show that will justify how beautiful this place is. If you go during the day, I highly recommend you revisit after dark when it the lights are on. Note, I didn't go inside, but I have heard it's great. In that case you will need to buy a ticket

A marvelleous piece of medieval church architechture and a huge and beautiful cathedral. Really impressive. The big negative side was, that the church was overful with people - and it wasn't even high season. It was impossible to truly enjoy the church, when the place was so packed that you felt like being sardines in a tin. Feels like the oversell tickets - entrance should be more regulated. But still amazing!
