There are a variety of wild animals to see here. The enclosures are very large and offer the animals plenty of activities and space. A very nice family zoo, the seals have plenty of action! A really nice zoo!

This zoo is beautiful and big. There is English posting for names and much information in Polish that can be translated with Lens. The ice cream was delicious and very clean place. We spent over two hours and could have spent even more time there. I think we walked nearly 10km during the visit. It is one of my favorites

Even better zoo than I imagined. You can see the animals really close. It's really modern, clean, and has beautiful waterfalls and an overall vibe. We went on a rainy day, so there were almost no other visitors besides me and my girlfriend, which made it feel like a private tour. We were there for at least 2.5 hours and still didn't see everything that the zoo had to offer.

Really good experience, can’t complain really! Though it was sometimes hard to view the animals as the cage was very large compared to the number of animals with an outdoor and indoor section. Apart from that wear some good shoes as you’ll be walking for ages.

We stayed over 6 hours in the park and still did not see a part of it! Kids and ourselves loved it, it's a unique experience. Definitely recommend it.

It wasn't really what my kids were expecting. My 11 year old wanted to ride more dinosaurs. My 8 year old wanted to interact with the dinos and not just look at them. The rides weren't even dinosaur themed. Food was ok. We ate outside where wasps were pretty much swarming us half the time. The 4d attractions were neat, not too much for those of us who tend to get queasy. We were there for the night on a Sunday, and once the park closed, we had a hard time finding a place to eat. Only a pizza place was open past 8, and the wait for delivery was an hour and a half at that point. Our over night accommodations were in the human evolution building. The common areas were very dark, and the entire decor was futuristic, blocky and uninviting. We stayed in the bronchiasaurus room, which housed 16 bunk beds and a private rest room with 2 each: sons, toilets, showers. There was a hair dryer and body wash/shampoo in the showers. Towels were provided. The windows all had screens to keep bugs out, which is rare here. The staff were accommodating with breakfast. We had to be on the road before their normal breakfast time started, so they prepared us sandwiches and packed them in a large bag and stored them for us in the common area kitchenette. A unique feature was the active dig site and being able to see authentic fossils. We did manage to get lost trying to find the dinos as we didn't expect the huge play ground and all the rides. There's also a beach on a lake. Lots of activities available. My kids enjoyed the giant trampoline. There's also an upside down house diagonal from the human evolution building you can go into for a little extra (36 pln for a family of 2 adults & 2 kids). We didn't use it, but there's ample camp grounds as well.

Very nice place to enjoy with kids. On sunday it was not crowded, a huge territory with lot of things to do and it was fun for kids and interesting for adults as well.

Interesting interactive surprises. A very clever way to do it right. Been a number of times and always enjoy it. Downside is not enough staff, so beverage areas were closed and long queues. Great free church in the centre. The place has an amazing astronomical clock which chimes at 12 pm every day. The church is very busy during this period. There is also a tower with 400 steps, giving panoramic views of the city for a fee.

Wow, it's just massive. Not as ornate inside as other Polish churches, but there was a large selection of relics inside. Free to visit. Remove your hat, be respectful.

Walking into St. Mary’s Church feels like entering a cathedral of light. The soaring white arches draw your eyes upward, while the vibrant stained-glass windows fill the interior with deep blues and warm reds. The atmosphere is calm and surprisingly intimate despite the impressive scale. The golden altarpiece and the astronomical clock were the highlights of my visit. Both are beautifully preserved and full of intricate details that you can admire up close. Several side chapels display sculptures, marble monuments and religious artifacts, making the whole space feel like an open-air museum. During my visit the floors were still slightly wet from melted ice outside, so I walked carefully, but it didn’t affect the experience. The church was quiet, and it was easy to appreciate each section without crowds. A must-see landmark in Gdańsk for anyone interested in architecture, history, or sacred art.

Not the most ornate but a truly worthwhile visit. The climb to the viewing point in the roof (400 steps) is well worth it. The main reason i liked it was not so much for the view, which was fantastic, but for the rough and ready (authentic) steps and scaffold walkways which i much prefer to the sanitized/safe "tourist friendly" experiences that are the norm nowadays. Highly recommended.

This building is beautiful both externally and internally. I would caution taking the spiral staircase (it cost £4). The first 100 spiral steps are long, low and very narrow - and without a handrail, so it feels quite dangerous especially if busy. There are limited places for a rest or passing. The last 300 or so steps are much safer. If you do you reach the top, you are rewarded with excellent views over Gdansk and out to the Baltic Sea. I'd strongly recommend installing handrails as a minimum for safety - I'd visit the building again but not climb the stairs. "Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?" Acts 7:48-50

A short street but with many interesting shops and cafes. Quite crowded during day time, but quite during the night. Enjoyed to have a short stop there.

Nice, touristy street centered around amber. We bought something from two stores that were quite different from each other. One way more touristy (other products, bigger shop) than the other (artsier, small inside). Watch your head going down into the shops!

One of the most beautiful streets I've seen in Poland and, in my opinion, the most visually unique in Gdańsk. After Stara Motława, it's the second most worth-seeing spot in the city. The narrow, tall facades of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance townhouses, adorned with stone porches, balustrades, gargoyles, and metalwork, are quite impressive. This, combined with the smaller (intimate) character of the street and the subtle display cases of amber jewelry, well-integrated into the architectural style, creates a very pleasant environment. The street is bordered on the west by St. Mary's Basilica and on the east by St. Mary's Gate, which leads to Stara Motława. You'll find mainly amber jewelry shops here.

Great, quit place to hang out in the afternoon

We went to the museum on a Tuesday afternoon, not realising that on Tuesdays, the museum is free to visit which is wonderful! We didn’t book or buy a ticket in advance, but it’s generally recommended to do so due to limitations of how many visitors are allowed in the museum at a time. When we arrived, the main entrance was closed with a few people arriving a bit before us. The people ahead of us asked a security guard for directions on how to get in, and they were told to form a queue near the main entrance, as there’s too many visitors at the moment. We waited about 10-15 minutes before being let in. I think that this system could be organised a lot better, as there were no signs or obvious indicators that we simply had to queue to be able to get inside, as the doors were closed and no representative was waiting outside. To get to the main exhibition, you have to go down to the very bottom floor, which has a souvenir shop, info desk, toilets, seating area, cafe, lockers for backpacks and a section to get an audio guide from. We got a free ticket by going to the info desk and also a small black coin to use in the lockers to store our larger bag (security at the entrance to the main exhibition will likely turn you away from the queue if you have a backpack). The main exhibition was very informative and laid out in a nice, logical way - lots of reading material, videos that played on repeat with subtitles, and pictures/items to view. Make sure to give yourself a few hours if you wish to not rush through the whole experience, it takes about 2-3 hours to go through the main exhibition. The top most floor has also a small exhibition, which covers a bit about the history of the site where the museum was built. Overall a very interesting museum, definitely worth a visit!

Thoroughly brilliant. As they say, "Education is everything." The whole experience from start to finish is sobering but we'll worth taking the time. It will take around 3 hours to go through each exhibition but it is well worth it. From the 1920's until the end of WW2, everything is explained in detail. Well worth the time to visit.

The museum experience is exquisite. The exhibits were comprehensive, well laid out, clear directional signage for circulation, font and letter size easy to read and allow people to stand far enough so no crowding. All in a very unique and beautifully designed modern building.

Great exhibition of world war 2. Hear about the lead up to the war, see the artifacts and learn how it all came to an end. Get the audio guide, it doesn't cost much. They have secure lockers on site. Take a drink for the tour. It takes a couple of hours and there's limited opportunities to buy refreshments during.

A wonderful exhibition of WWII history, depicting many facets of life in Poland during those years. Some parts can be emotionally harrowing, while being honest about events. We visited at a weekend which was busy, plus as independent visitors we got caught up in groups which impacts the ability to view exhibits. Having said that the place is a ‘not to be missed’ while visiting the museum.

Massive museum this. Easy to find. Need a couple of hours to do the tour properly. It's more like a Second World War Tour. Than other museums. Did not book tickets in advance. But did end up queuing to buy them. So book in advance. Decent cafe on site as well. Entrance is downstairs. But there is a small lift as well. Place is huge inside. Does get busy at a Weekend. Would recommend not expensive and so good history to see.

A powerful and emotionally moving place — definitely worth a visit. Although some areas are currently under maintenance, access to the monument is open and easy. It was not difficult to find, and there is convenient parking nearby. You can also grab a quick bite in the area. While there were quite a few visitors, the space is large and well spread out, so it didn’t feel crowded.

A significant place. The first shots in Europe were fired elsewhere, but World War II began here. To Poland's credit, they were able to reconstruct the actions of all those involved and honor their memory, regardless of their subsequent fates.

Highly significant memorial to Poland and the start of WW2. Partly located in a wooded area, there are a number of things to see and there a number of noticeboards. Where you arrived by bus or car is pretty run down and there is little to do to entice you to stay longer or spend money. There is an hourly bus service back to Gdansk so plan carefully or you will be waiting around.

A very nice monument. On the coast of the Baltic Sea. A place of great importance for history. Nice to visit in good weather with the family.

It is one of most iconic places in Poland. The historical story about Polish heroes soldiers and their heroism in Second World War again the Germans has a special place on history pages. However the site is missing a concept, information and explain about the battle. Except the main walkway to the momentum, the rest is partly not under scrutiny, missing sings and info, no information tourist stand, no maps, only few points have some basic information. The museum, which is half kilometer from main site is open only in summer. Too bad and disappointing.

Been here twice in the last 7 years, it's generally the same with a few minor additions. Either way it's a interesting place to visit after the war museum as it adds more context to the opening salvos of WW2. Theres the bunkers hidden behind the sight line from the open sea, they are a little less accessible than they were before, but still interesting. I believe the are more WWI era. So many signs and info that's very interesting and again adds the context needed to the visit. It's something that you can do in a few hours easily talking your time. The main barracks is there and destroyed, you can still access it which adds weight to the size of the assault. You used to be able to access more and go downstairs but due to the nature of the place it's no wonder you can't any more. It's then a short walk to the huge monument which is just as impressive as the first time I saw it. Well worth a visit and not far from Gdansk. About 15 minutes max in a Uber or Bolt.

Very important national place so you can learn about the polish history of the 2 world war, some souvenir shops and coffee and snacks as well, many people are coming to visit

It’s a fascinating place to explore, full of winding halls, towers, and hidden corners that really give you a feel of its medieval past. Walking through it is both fun and atmospheric, and you can easily spend hours discovering new details. The audio guide is excellent—clear, engaging, and full of stories that make the history come alive in a really enjoyable way.

Okay wow! This is a world heritage site and a must to visit when in Poland. So much history here and the engineering has stood the test of time. There's translation devices for most languages when you enjoy the walking tour. As an Orthodox Christian I can still enjoy the beauty and pure massiveness of this romantic place from another time.

I've never done a self guided or audio tour before, but this was definitely an awesome experience if you're into exploring historical sites. The audio guide was fairly detailed and the English speaking version was great. Each section had me engaged and excited for the next part of the tour. The whole experience was one I won't forget and I really wish I could've brought my family to experience it with me. I'd love to post more pictures, but I don't want to take away from the experience.

An amazing castle to tour. The audio guide is wonderful and guides you to all the rooms and gives interesting information. The castle is really fascinating and beautiful! The restaurant is also worth a visit with super delicious traditional food.

Really great tour experience. Self guided with English headset MP3 type of device. Easy to stay walking distance at nice hotels. Ordered the ticket type we wanted online the night before and simply go to the ticket office and receive an audio device.

The castle is very interesting amd definitely worth visiting! The building is split into multiple parts so the complex over all is HUGE and you can easily spend several hours just walking around. When I went the audio guide was included which was fairly nice, but a bit dry in terms of the content. It is difficult to find your way around the castle as most doors are not marked so the audio guide which literally tells you where to go, what door to open etc, was very useful for navigation. As a historic site it is really worth taking a day trip to visit the castle and the castle grounds.

Impressive architecture. With the audio guide it's a great history lesson. While it's pretty much an unfurnished castle there are some great displays such as the Amber Room, the armory with weapons ranging centuries from both European and Eastern countries. In addition, the cellar restaurant was surprisingly excellent and fairly priced. Recommend!

If there’s no line, go in without thinking twice — the idea is great and the place itself is nice. But if there’s a line (more than 30 people in front of you), I honestly wouldn’t recommend it. Spending two hours under the sun just to get in, then waiting another hour inside, only to watch a ten-minute seal feeding show, isn’t really worth it. If you find a queue, you’re better off spending those three hours on the beach instead — you won’t be missing much.

Cool and educational but the info during feeding is provided in Polish only. Still worth it to view the adorable seals. Make sure to attend during the feeding which is 4 times a day or so. The tickets are valid for 30 minutes after the purchase.

Seals are adorable and perform cute tricks for a fish. It’s definitely worth seeing their little show during feeding time. When I was there, it took place in the second pool, so make sure to find a good spot! Be careful when buying tickets – they cost 20 zloty per person, and you can pay by card at the machine. After printing your tickets, make sure to print the receipt as well! Both we and the couple before us received one ticket and one receipt instead of two tickets. Only after pressing the option to print the receipt did the second ticket come out. The main reason I’m not giving five stars is the complete lack of any information in English. Everything – the show, info panels, materials – is only in Polish. As a foreigner, you have no way (besides looking online) to learn about the great conservation work they’re doing there. That said, I wish the aquarium all the best – the seals deserve excellent caretakers and respectful visitors!

Fokarium is something you should see when you are in Hel. They help injured seals, which is really positive and their seals are very playful. We stayed there until feeding time and it was quite nice experience. I would reccomend allowing buying tickets online in advance. This time it rained, so there was not many people waiting, we waited outside just few minutes. But there is another line inside to visit small museum (unfortunately only Polish description). We waited there another 15 minutes to get inside. It was worthy, you could sed seals swimming under the water.

Its necessary to be in row in first 100 people, otherwise there will be no place to clear watch the show. Best places are on the bridge, but it fast full. Overall place is small for such big group of people.

Loved by local people but few exhibitions because of renovation. If you are expected to watch a lot of kinds of fishes, you would definitely feed disappointed, however, the exhibition of the whale is absolutely great!! There are a several tickets depend on what you want to watch, so you might feel confused, but you can ask the staff in the ticket office. I recommend you to check the Instagram account of this museum, because their posts seems very lovely.

Externally it looks spectacular but unfortunately it's incomplete inside. We'll just have to wait in anticipation for the full experience

A big territory with a lot of attraction sites including a submarine, a research vessel, a water plane, coral and fish aquariums, all sorts of marine mines, anchors, compasses etc. To visit every attraction you need to pay separately. Great for kids.

Being in Kaliningrad you have to visit this place. But not all attractions are worth to see for foreign guests. For sure tou have to buy tickets for museum on the ship and submarine. Before you buy the tickets for other attraxtions, check what this is about, because you can be dissapointed and bored. I do not recommend aquariums. They are small and not so attractive. And in my opinion they are to small for all those fishes. But still you should come here and see those great things.

Dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St. Adalbert of Prague, it was built as the see of the Prince-Bishops of Samland in the 14th century. Upon the establishment of the secular Duchy of Prussia, it became the Lutheran Albertina University church in 1544. The spire and roof of the cathedral burnt down after two RAF bombing raids in late August 1944. Kaliningrad was to be rebuilt as a model town on the remains of Königsberg, with no reminders of its German past left standing. The ruins of the castle were periodically dynamited over the next several years, with the last remnants destroyed in 1968 on Leonid Brezhnev's personal orders. The ruins of the nearby Königsberg Cathedral, which included the tomb of Immanuel Kant, were left standing, and, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, were rebuilt and restored in the late 1990s and early years of the 21st century.

I had the opportunity to see the beautiful cathedral both from the outside and inside. I also attended a concert held inside. The interior is very well maintained and truly impressive. We took a memorable wedding photo in front of the cathedral.

Beautiful cathedral was built in 14th century. Doest function as an regular cathedral nowadays. It's is a museum. To get in you need to buy a ticket. There is also possibility to listen to organ music there.

Another place I did not have the pleasure of experiencing its interior. It is worth the time to walk to it and enjoy the vendors and views of the pond and park.

The catjedral hosts now the musem of Emmanuel Kant and organ concerts. It si more interesting to watch here outsode than inside. Afterall the cathedral was bombed djrong the ww2 and for a long time it was a ruin. Worth for a visit.

Beautiful area and building but the museum itself is average. Some interesting pieces but a lot of similar things and basically nothing in English.. so a wiki page will be more interesting to learn.

Nice place and the museum has many informations to show. There are shops as well to buy amber stones. I enjoyed to read the history behind the making of the stone. Worth to visit.

We did not get a chance to go in due to lack of time, but the surrounding area is great and so are the shops. If the inside is anywhere near its exterior, I'm sure it deserves a five star rating.

Touch mysterious and traditional culture and history of Kaliningrad. If you have heard of the mystery of the amber room that missed during warld war 2, you would definitely be moved, because there is the exhibition of the room that restorated. If course, you can learn the history of amber and how to make amber things in Russia. Additionally, there is the exhibition of amber art such as pictures made with amber. There is a souvenir shop that you can buy amber and with reasonable prices!

Amazing experience. My knowledge of Amber grew by 50000%. Beautiful pieces to look at as well as nice souvenirs to be bought.

Before I came to Kaliningrad I had no idea that such a huge percentage of worlds amber derived from this region. It's crazy to think about 300 million years how a unique set of circumstances led to it. This gives a story of the region and a ton of amber displays as well.

I was very happy to be here. But he needs the vaccine QR code, I have the vaccination certificate, they won't admit it and won't let us in. This vaccine certificate is available in many places, and this is the first time that the validity of the vaccine certificate has been denied. a terrible day.

One of da best water towers I ever seen my life (amongst 40&more). The view from the top is worth climbing up. Yet, turning such a glossy fabulous tower into a museum of cats is not that nice idea idk. The elevator is super tiny tbh. The cashier is placed inappropriately. Everyone can get inside for free by staircase and even the elevator, avoiding the tickets purchase. The hotel close to the tower ruins the view of the tower itself.

View from the top is nice. The collection inside does not worth it. Also elevator is too small and the first floor is always too crowded (tickets are sold along with the souvenirs, and there is very little space there)

Many interesting and adorable cat figurines. However the entrance via going to the 6th floor, and then being told to wait for the same elevator to go down one floor is confusing and results in waiting line.

Actually, few nice artworks, other is trash.

Water park is pretty worn out but it is still fun. Outdoor pools are cool during summer time. If outdoor pools were heated , hotel would have even better ratings.

This is not fun place. Tropican naming as fun and current state of aquapark (if you can name it as awuapark) are on different ends of spectrum. This place has been redesigned for calm, chill place. Nothing, nada, zero related to Tropicana. I would call this as large open steril open space. Synonyms to medical reabilitation premices than Tropicana. Kids amenities is a joke, cheap plastic structure in a large open space. I as an adult I had some relaxed episodes during my stay here, but as I cam with kids, they got bored relatively quick. I would not repeat with my kids.

Would be good to have family tickets. On page it say 1.5min little confused because though is 1h and 50min in pool. They do I count as 1.30min not much time at all ,if busy for slides to use or other facilities in that time and get out if with children, 1min after been charged extra every person.

Very nicely equipped for all ages with plenty of areas for people to enjoy the pools, jacuzzi, slides, outdoor space. Equipped with kids areas.

If you expect many different water slides then this is not for you! There are just few ordinary slides, but rest off pools jacuzzy ,,sea" was very nice and most inportant was activities and pool for smallest ones.

Extremely overpriced and not affordable for families. No discounts offered or family card discount offered. Staff very grumpy. The facilities and slides, pools are good and clean. It wasn’t overcrowded and wait times were minimal. Just so expensive.

Well, it's been kinda all blown up. Probably a good thing. There is a lot of history here for WWII nerds. There are lots of informational plaques and you can rent audio guides. Honestly, photographs do not do justice here. The scale of these bunkers is unbelievable.

Huge place, many buildings to see, a lot information about Hitlers place, where he was. With audio guide very simple but informative. Were on Friday 12 o'clock. Not very busy, but were many students.

Make sure you get a headphone guide, really well done. This site is vast we walked 3 miles just following the route. But worth it, really worth the effort.

A good opportunity to get acquainted with history. It is convenient that you can order an audio guide in various languages. Great education for the family.

Most of buildings are ruins, but its more than important to visit this place. Its living history.

A nice place to visit if you are in the area. The price is very reasonable at 18 pln = £3.48 but unfortunately there is a lot of renovation work needed in the buildings as well as the grounds. It's a shame the vandals get in and graffiti the place. When we were walking around the grounds there were some information signs in a number of languages including English. The exhibitions in buildings 1,16,19 & 22 were okay, very disappointing though there was no translation to English, even a leaflet would of done.

An impressive (read: large) fortress, with a number of auxiliary exhibits throughout its buildings. Several well-marked trails offer different options to visit - the longest will take several hours. The interior of the area could host other attractions, currently it's mostly a meadow.

Impressive fortress of bastion type, really big. The admission is decent, the longest walk is like 2-3 hours, depends how much interest do you wanna pay to exhibitions and buildings. Downsides: some paths are in bit rougher style of terrain, you go obviously up and down frequently. Exhibitions are not much. Lacking the concept, bits of that and that with little commentary on info tables. Especially the "gunpowder" one. Also it's heavily over grown with trees and bushes, so sheer size and magnificence of the fortress is drown and it resembles more city park than historical landmark.

Interesting place to visit. Quite large, there are many facilities to visit.

This was an impromptu visit at the end of winter in Poland. Will come back in summer. Great place to explore and learn the rich history. You probably need good 4 hours or so to do it. Take your time and explore.

This is an amazing, huge place that is only partly developed. The site is well-organised, and there are 3 different routes to follow, the red route being the most strenuous and interesting. There are plans to develop the site further, including the restoration of some of the buildings and conversion into a hotel. Although parts of the site are not suitable for the less able, there is still a lot that is suitable, and it's well worth the visit. Recommended.

Interesting historical site to visit. There's a detailed sign next to every building to explain the function of each place. There are 3 touristic routes to follow, all of them relatively easy to do. Some of the buildings are pretty much damaged and forgotten, while some others have a nice exhibit.

This is how I imagine heaven! Ideal place for a biking trip, as there are high-quality bike roads, plenty of cafes and restaurants, and many nice places to stop all along the peninsula. We took a ferry, then a trip by bus from Smiltyne to Nida, where we rented a bike and rode to Juodkrante (approx. 30 km). Visited Vecerkrugas dune, Preila, did some bird watching near Karvaiciai, then a short walk in Pervalka, a hike to Dead Dunes, spent some time at a beach near Juodkrante, and had a great dinner and a walk around Juodkrante, back to Smiltyne by bus, then ferry back to Klaipeda. Wonderful, relaxing experience!

When it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere, those of us above the equator are tilted away from the sun, giving us shorter days and longer nights. In summer, we're tilted toward the sun, but the equinox is right in between. It's the moment during Earth's annual revolution around the sun when its axis is neither tilting away nor tilting toward the sun, giving everyone on the planet an equal split of day and night. This phenomenon happens twice a year—in March and again in September. In the Southern Hemisphere, everything's flipped. There, it's the autumnal equinox today — and, yes, winter is coming.

Was very disappointed, there where sign's all over the place saying keep off sand dunes before I got onto the beach then I walked onto the beach and there was no sand and only a puddle of water. I was ready to go the the beach and everything. I brought my beach chair and sunscreen and just wanted a nice peaceful day at the beach but there was no beach for me to be at.

An interesting and peculiar place where it seems that there is nothing, but there is a lot there. We also left our crosses there among the others as a memory. A popular place and the crowd kept coming, but it didn't interfere at all. In the souvenir shop, we were served by a lovely and nice young woman. It was an exciting and memorable visit.

The hill of crosses is a hill covered with over 250,000 crosses of every shape, size, and constitution. Today our group of 10 explored the collection of wood, metal, fabric and more crosses, rosaries and religious symbols. Several people brought more crosses, some purchased from the gift store near the information center, again in metal, wood and in various sizes. Several large crosses still stand but a few have fallen due to exposture to the elements. Crosses, rosaries, and special intention prayers from all over the world unite. Everyone seems to agree that house once stood here and was burnt by the Russians in 17th century. People began putting crosses here in mid 19th century either to praise God or to honor those killed in mid century uprisings against Tsarist Russia. In. 1961, Russians burned wood crosses and melted down metal ones. But the Hill of Crosses survives today with people bringing more crosses for praise, petition, remembrance. Some crosses bear words asking for world peace This is a peaceful, powerful stop for people of all faiths or with no Faith. The walk through the crosses can be steep and muddy and the view can be appreciated from any vantage point. At the parking entrance, a 5 minute walk, a open air gift shop offers amber jewelry, all types of small crosses, postcards and magnets. A smaller indoor gift store offers a selection of amber and jade items. The restroom costs Euro 1.

Such a unique pilgrimage spot. Visited as part of a guided tour. Incredible to see the amount of crosses everywhere, from the more modest crafted with two sticks, to the most elegantly sculpted.

The folk legend is that the hill started because of a man with sick daughter, had a vision of Christ asking him to place a cross at this place. His daughter got better and word got around and people started putting crosses at the same place. After WW2, USSR was controlling the country and didn't allow religious beliefs. Didn't help that the crosses were placed for people who were killed in the uprising against USSR. The place was destroyed a few times but the resilience of Lithuanians continued to put back the crosses. This place became a pilgrimage in accordance to St James after Pope John Paul II visited the place. Watch the pics for his quote about Hill of crosses.

It may not be the most convenient option if you are traveling alone due to its distance, but it proved to be a pleasant stop on my journey to Riga. The area is quite breezy. There are a few souvenir shops located near the parking area, and a paid toilet is available at the information center, where card payments are accepted.

A very religious and unique place. Soviet communist hordes bulldozed it in the 1970s, but crosses kept coming back. Quite an experience .. 🤔 We were taken there by a very friendly taxi driver from Siauliai train station.

The Hill of Crosses in Lithuania is an excellent and deeply moving place, visited by countless people with faith and devotion. The sight of thousands of crosses creates a powerful spiritual atmosphere. It would be wonderful to see more services and facilities develop in the area to support visitors and enhance the overall experience.

Amazing place! Beautiful wooden boardwalks through the bog, a scenic tower with stunning views, fresh air and peaceful silence. Especially magical at sunrise. Easy to reach from Riga. In summer, bring mosquito spray. A perfect spot to experience Latvia’s nature. Highly recommend!

This is for us the most beautiful place in all Latvia. Such a peaceful walk full of birds singing and spectacular nature. I could walk here for hours and not get tired of it.

Beautiful and peaceful. An hour long walk through beautiful forest and bog. To parents with small kids - the path is too narrow to walk with a stroller, leave it in the car.

A great place for a day trip from Riga or a peaceful stop along the way, offering a pleasant walk in beautiful nature. The paths are well-kept, with benches available here and there to rest, and a viewing tower to take in the surroundings.

Excellent walking trails. €3/hr parking is very expensive thou. Make sure you bring some insect repellents ☝️

This is one of those places that i was told is “all over instagram and you have to go”. Its quite a nice walk through the forest and then along the planks of wood that just keep you above the boggy water. Eventually you will reach a viewing platform where the view was amazing. Why i have rated this 4 stars is due to the public toilets. There are 4 portable style toilets at the parking and one not too much further into the forest. These toilets were a disgrace. The smell and cleanliness of these were disgusting and ruined the overall experience. Pointer….. go to the toilet before going

Amazing nature. A wide, peaceful area with unorthodox vegetation, worth visiting.

Perhaps the jewel of Latvia. The palace is in really good condition, thanks to everyone's hard work. The gardens are certainly kept in immaculate condition. Most of the rooms are open to visitors, including the bedrooms and bathrooms of the Duke and Duchess — definitely worth a visit. It's usually not very crowded on weekdays. You can use an audio guide.

Beautiful, rich collection, friendly staff, almost no tourists in November yet highly operational. Interesting to see powder rooms and toilet closets. Impressive collection of “ household” peaces. Wonderful cafe switch beautiful service. Food served in aristocratic dish-ware. The clock outside is restarted with beautiful music playing at each hour with the sound stretching through whole yard yard. Very happy with our visit.

The Baltic Versailles! Amidst the vast fields and meadows of Zemgale (Semgallen) stands the most beautiful baroque palace in the Baltic States: the Rundāles Pils (Rundāle Palace). The palace was commissioned by Ernst Johann Biron, the lover of Tsarina Anna Ivanova who bestowed him the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. The famous Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli designed and built a palace inspired by Versailles. Since the Duke was exiled to Siberia by his political enemies in 1740, the construction of the palace took place in two phases. During the first phase (1736-40) the palace itself was built, and during the second phase (1765-68) the furnishing of 138 rooms and halls was completed. During the Latvian War of Independence in 1919, the palace was badly damaged. In 1933, the palace was restored/rebuilt when a school was established. After the Rundāle Palace Museum was founded in 1972, a thorough and long-term restoration was immediately started, which was only completed in 2015. Thanks to this restoration, the palace once again radiates its 18th century grandeur, which visitors can admire in 40 rooms and halls. In addition to the magnificent interior, the French gardens are certainly worth a visit. So all in all, Rundāle Palace is a destination that should not be missed on your itinerary!

Amazing place! Worth the drive from Riga. We enjoyed it very much! Unfortunately rainy weather stopped us from going to their beautiful gardens. A lot of visitors even on weekday.

Really glad we decided to drive and visit Rundāle Palace. If you had a car - don't skip this easy day trip from Riga. The gardens are beautiful - and it's aways interesting to see intricate buildings preserved. Impressive! We spent about 2.5 hours here in total. We visited on a Wednesday and bought tickets when we got there.

The Rundale Palace in Latvia was built in the 18th century. Though originally built as a palace it was used for various purposes including a school. In 1972 the palace and the surrounding gardens was established as a museum. It has 40 rooms exhibiting furniture, decorative pieces, paintings including painted ceilings. Very impressive from outside and inside, one of the most well preserved palaces in the world. The French garden adds to the charm of the palace. Ticket can be purchased together for the palace and the garden. We visited it on a "Tour and Transfer" from Riga To Vilnius. Highly recommend it.

The Palace of amazing beauty 🤩🥰 with a large French park nearby. The beginning of the palace dates back to the 16th century, although Rundale Manor is mentioned from the 15th century. To walk the main paths in the garden, inside the palace - will be about 6.2 km, and if you explore all the passages of the garden it will be more of km. 🙃 and you should dedicate at least 3.5 hours (you can run around faster, but it is better to walk slower 🙃). The price for an adult to visit all the places is 23 €, but you can also visit the garden and palace for 17 €, but then you will not enter one of the palace "wing" with another exposition. If you have already arrived at the place and have an opportunity - it is definitely worth visiting all possible places.
