Shree Vyadeshwar Temple, Guhagar

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
An ancient Shiva temple near Guhagar Beach and Bus stand. One gets a very peaceful and pious feeling here. It is built in Panchayatan style with Lord Shiva as the principal shrine in the centre and four shrines of Surya, Ganesha, Amba and Lakshmi at the four corners. Certainly worth a visit if you are in Guhagar.
Anand S — Google review
Shree Vyadeshwar at Guhagar, Ratnagiri is a 'Kuldaivat' to many 'chittapavan kokanastha brahman' families. This is also thousands of years old Shiv temple built by Sage Vyadi and hence called Vyadeshwar. This offers unique prasad - bundi laddoos made with bundi, ghee and jaggery. It has got a limited parking space. It's a part of congested old city. Wheelchair accessibility is there with basic amenities like washrooms and drinking water.
Kiran S — Google review
Shree Dev Vyadeshwar temple is a temple dedicated to the God Shiva. It is located in Guhagar town from Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra State in India. The deity is considered as the Kuladevata (Clan-deity) of many Chitpavan families from the Konkan region. It's a very beautiful, neat and clean temple. You can feel the positive vibes as soon as you enter the temple. Not very crowded so one can sit and medidate too. One must definitely visit the temple if you are visiting Guhagar. History: Sage Parashurama created the land of Konkan by shooting his arrow into the sea and commanding the Sea God to retract the waters to the point where his arrow landed. This new land came to be known as Sapta-Konkana, meaning "piece of earth", "corner of earth", or "piece of a corner", derived from Sanskrit words: koṇa (कोण, corner) + kaṇa (कण, piece). Shree Parshurama also requested 60 rishis to settle in the newly created land and protect the resident clans. He, being a devotee of the God Shiva, requested Shree Shiva to meet him daily. Sage Vyadi installed the lingam of Shiva at this temple in Guhagar. The Shiva icon and temple was thus named as Shree Vyadeshwar (the Lord of Vyadi). It is believed that Shree Shiva stays here in the invisible form. Shree Vyadeshwar Deity was lost to time and is rediscovered in the era of King Sakuran, when the current temple structure was built. The temple is constructed between the 1st and 2nd century, which makes it around 2000 years old. The architectural style is called 'Panchayatan'. A Panchayatan temple contains four subordinate shrines in four corners and the main shrine in the center of the podium, which forms the base. Here, Shiva is Shree Vyadeshwar, the central shrine, with Surya, Ganesha, Amba or Ambika (Shiva's consort) and Vishnu with his wife Lakshmi as the South-East, South-West, North-West and North-East subordinate shrines respectively. Nandi (the vahana of Shiva) sits in front of the main shrine. The temple has three entrances to the east, west and south. Shri Garuda (the vahana of Vishnu) and Shri Hanuman are installed on either side of the East entrance, inside the temple. This 'Panchayatan' temple is ancient, as are its deities. Due to aging, the three shrines were found eroded. In May 2015, the shrines of Shri Parvati (Ambikamata), Shri Garud and Shri Hanuman were ceremonially replaced by new shrines. Also the shrine of Shri Suryanarayan was replaced later. All the required reinstatement rituals were systematically performed. The old entrance facing the East was small in size and was inconvenient. That entrance (Mahadwar in local Marathi language) was replaced with a completely renovated gate, during the recent renovation of the temple.
Shanaaya D — Google review
The temple is old quiet and beautiful. Over the years maintenance of the older parts seems to have suffered a bit. The approach road (last 200 - 300m) is very narrow with only a single vehicle able to pass. there a bit of parking space available just outside the temple. It is the Kula-daivata for a number of Maharashtrian families such as the Ranades

Absolutely Mesmerizing divine Mandir. The construction, the location near to the beach, the atmosphere and the pure genuine divine energy that's felt is So So Amazing 🙏 What a place to worship. Very beautiful location in Guhagar

This temple is located in the heart of Guhagar and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The complex also houses temples for Laxmi Narayan, Ganesh, Hanuman, Surya Dev and Devi Mata. It’s a spacious, serene, and beautiful place to visit and seek blessings.

Shree Vyadeshwar Temple is one of the oldest and most famous temples in Guhagar as well as in the entire Konkan region. It is located in the heart of Guhagar city, and all modes of transport are easily available to reach here. The temple is serene and peaceful, attracting many devotees throughout the year. Guhagar Beach is within walking distance, and there are several hotels and lodges nearby, making it convenient for visitors and pilgrims. A must-visit spiritual place when in Guhagar.

Kaas plateau

Plateau
Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
Kaas Plateau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Satara district of Maharashtra, is a stunning plateau formed from volcanic rocks. This picturesque destination is known for its vibrant wildflowers that bloom from September to October, creating a colorful carpet of natural beauty. The plateau receives heavy rainfall and gusty winds during the monsoon season, making it an ideal time to witness the breathtaking display of flowers. Many of these wildflowers are medicinal and unique to this area.
A must-visit natural wonder and a truly spectacular floral tapestry. A rare and precious ecological gem. Date of Visit: Mid-September (Peak Bloom Season) Purpose: Nature and Macro Photography The Experience: A Floral Masterpiece Kaas Plateau, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, fully lives up to its title as the 'Valley of Flowers of Maharashtra.' The experience is genuinely breathtaking. The barren lateritic plateau, which is dry for most of the year, is magically carpeted by an astonishing variety of wildflowers during the short post-monsoon window. What Makes it Special: The Floral Diversity: It’s not just one color—the plateau shifts hues daily. We saw vast stretches of the delicate yellow Smithia (often called the 'Mickey Mouse flower'), vibrant purple-pink Impatiens, tiny white Eriocaulon, and even unique carnivorous plants like Drosera Indica. For nature lovers and botanists, it is an absolute treasure trove, home to over 850 species, many of which are endemic. The Ambiance: The cool, misty weather typical of the late monsoon season enhances the entire atmosphere. Walking on the designated trails through the rolling hills, with the Kaas Lake glittering in the distance, is an experience of profound peace and natural beauty. The Conservation Effort: The local authorities have done an excellent job of protecting this fragile ecosystem. The strict rules—staying only on marked trails and the mandatory online booking with visitor limits—are necessary and appreciated for preserving the environment.

I visited the Kaas Plateau end of October. The flowering season was almost over, but i was not an inch disappointed. The valley is magical with the clouds streaming through it. It was truly a splendid experience, i will cherish for the rest of my life. The walk to the Kumudini lake with bring forth a freshness you have never felt earlier. Must visit if you are in Maharashtra.

A must visit World Heritage site..! I visited in second week of September. Drive on ghat road is very scenic. Stay overnight to enjoy the calmness and feel those energetic vibes of nature ir can be done in a day as well. Booked morning slot of 7 to 11 and reached parking area. Ample parking and food options both veg and non veg. Takes around 2 hours to roam around and admire the nature.
John P — Google review
We went there on the last day of the season after most flowers have withered, yet the place was heavenly. The crowd was almost non existent. The meadows were carpeted golden yellow. The staff was very cooperative and the facilities were good . A bus picks you up from the parking lot to the gates , from where an electric buggy drops you off inside . Here you are free to walk around and enjoy the park . The breeze was cooled and the the park was a lush green which made it a beautiful experience.
Mlee M — Google review
It's good, it's a land of 10 Sq Km. Having 800+ species of plants , different types of flowering plants are covered in huge areas. The plateau is formed by volcanic rock. The best time to visit this area is from post June to the mid September to experience nature. We visited in mid October and found a few flowers. We can call it wild plants. Visitors who stay past 4:30 p.m. often have a better chance of spotting wild animals, as many species become more active during the late afternoon.

Thoseghar Waterfall is a picturesque and secluded destination, offering stunning vistas of cascading waterfalls and rolling hills. The tranquil setting provides ample opportunities for picnicking and enjoying the soothing breezes that surround the area. Visitors are encouraged to keep the environment clean and avoid littering plastic bottles. The best season to visit is during monsoon when two waterfalls, Big and Small, showcase their awesomeness.
Amazing view of the valley and river flowing though it, following the waterfall. Many small waterfalls from both side hills add to its beauty. Though one has to go through many steps to reach the points, the view is worth it. It’s a must visit !!

One of giant waterfalls on shayari forest range . The route was quite amazing to ride since lot of view points through the falls road. Entry fee rupees 50 per head. Parking and rest room facilities are available. You can do small trek to view this gigantic waterfall. The view was stunned visulas that fals flow through valley. Currently water flow is just okay. Monsoon is Perfect time.
Velayutham R — Google review
we had visited at the end of June. Monsoon had come early this time thus it was already green everywhere and waterfall too was amazing! place is well maintained as they have made proper pathway with steps towards both the waterfalls and its not like a rough trek. The big waterfall you can only see from a distance and they have properly made a platform there. But i doubt it would get too crowded during peak time thus highly advisable to visit as early as possible during the day to enjoy it peacefully. its around 15 mins of path with steps for big waterfall and around 20-30 of steps down to the small waterfall. also the wind is quite strong here thus prefer using raincoat than umbrellas. Talking about the road from Satara to reach this places, they are top notch. Parking too is sufficient and free of cost. its just open ground thus expect it to be muddy and dirty due to constant rains. Limited food options around this place just the ones step up by the locals near this place. Also there’s no changing room facility which should be available i felt. Entry fee is 50 Rs per person. Washroom in here were not maintained though. Other attraction you can consider visiting would be the windmill view point and Sajjangad fort and driving along these beautiful roads with greenery all side is itself the best thing to enjoy!
Jay — Google review
It was wonderful experience visiting this waterfall. The mighty water flow, roaring sound and amazing greenery makes it more attractive. Food options are there but mostly snacks and those are limited.
Aniket J — Google review
Very well maintained. Only people visiting should have sense not to liter. 🚯🚮. Even after keeping dustbins, illiterate people throw garbage on the ground. Make sure u carry cash to buy the ticket of 50 rupees per person. There is no mobile or internet connectivity so they don't accept online payments.

Wonderful place especially during mansoon season. Holy place for lord Shiva. Very devotional temple. There is huge crowd during shravan month.there are multiple waterfalls in this sahyadri mountain ranges
Anup D — Google review
There are 520 steps to climb to reach the cave temple. There a huge parking lot at the base of the steps. And a clean ladies & gents washroom near the entry gate. Lots of food & flower stalls all the way to the top. The Marleshwar waterfall clearly visible from the temple gallery. Temple closes by 7:30pm after which it gets very dark.

An divine place of lord shiva🐚🕉️ Must visit this temple in Shravan month as lots of devotees comes here. You will need to trek through steps. It’s an svayambhu shiv mandir inside an stone cave with only one entrance from which you will enter by bending. There is no light source inside cave only deep-jyoti makes light up this holy place. There are eternal vibes inside. Outside temple there’s big waterfall and multiple small water flows you can see. Be aware of monkeys.
Chaitanya M — Google review
I love this temple! Especially when you visit it during rainy season. The view with the waterfalls is breathtaking ! Inside the temple, there are no lights, its just the light of the lamps and the fragrance of the incense sticks which creates a serene atmosphere. Words fall short to describe it. You have to walk good amount of flight of stairs to reach to the top where the temple is. I visited the temple with my parents and siblings on a Monday morning but it wasn’t the month of Shravan so were lucky to skip the queue. Careful of the landslides and slippery surface/floor inside the temple!
Neha T — Google review
Shri Marleshwar Mahadev Mandir & Waterfall We visited Marleshwar Temple with our school friends during the monsoon, and it was truly one of the best experiences! The temple is located inside a natural cave, with oil lamps lighting up the sanctum, giving a very peaceful and divine atmosphere. Right in front of the temple flows the Marleshwar/Dhareshwar Waterfall – during the rains, it looks absolutely breathtaking. The surrounding green hills, mist, and the roar of the waterfall create an unforgettable moment. According to local history, the temple was established by Lord Parshuram and the Shivling here is self-manifested. There are also beliefs about cobras once residing in the cave, protecting the temple, and they are considered auspicious. ✨ What makes this place special is the perfect mix of **spiritual vibes and natural beauty**. The monsoon is the best time to visit, but the waterfall flows all year round, which is quite unique. ✔️ The climb has around 300–500 steps, but there are small stalls on the way for refreshments. ✔️ Be careful during monsoon as the steps can be slippery. ✔️ Please help in keeping the temple surroundings clean.
Viresh S — Google review
Marleshwar Temple is a beautiful spiritual spot surrounded by greenery and waterfalls, especially stunning in the monsoon. The cave temple of Lord Shiva gives a peaceful vibe. However, the long steps, limited facilities, and lack of cleanliness can be inconvenient. Best for those who love nature, spirituality, and adventure. MUST VISIT PLACE.✨✨✨✨✨✨

🌿 Marleshwar Temple – A Serene Cave Shrine Amidst the Sahyadris Nestled deep in the lush Sahyadri mountain ranges near Maral village, Marleshwar Temple is a hidden gem that beautifully combines spirituality with nature’s grandeur. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is set inside a natural cave, giving it a mystical and peaceful atmosphere. ✨ The Journey & Approach From Ratnagiri (about 65 km away), the drive winds through scenic ghats, dense greenery, and small Konkan villages. The last stretch involves climbing roughly 500–520 stone steps, so be prepared for a bit of a workout — but the views along the way make it worth it. 🏞 Surroundings & Highlights The temple is surrounded by countless small waterfalls during monsoon, earning the area the nickname “village of 100 waterfalls.” Just beside the temple flows the Dhareshwar Waterfall, which is especially breathtaking in the rainy season. The sound of cascading water blends with temple bells and chants, creating a truly meditative vibe. Inside the cave, the Shivling is simple yet powerful in its presence, with a constant trickle of water adding to the sacred feel. 🛕 Experience The cave is cool and dimly lit, with natural rock formations adding to its charm. The echo of prayers inside feels timeless. It’s less commercialized than many other shrines, so you can actually sit quietly and soak in the atmosphere. 🍲 Food & Local Touches A few small eateries in Maral village serve fresh vegetarian meals — simple but delicious. On the way, you can buy Kokum products, jackfruit chips, and other Konkan specialties at reasonable prices.

Panhala Fort, a historical gem nestled in Maharashtra, is renowned for its rich heritage and stunning views. It’s said to be the place where the legendary Shivaji Maharaj spent significant time outside of his childhood home. While exploring this majestic fort, I indulged in some local cuisine from nearby stalls, particularly the Kolhapuri bhadang bhel.

Nestled in the heart of Kolhapur, the Shri Ambabai Temple, also known as the Mahalaxmi Temple, is a stunning 12th-century Hindu shrine that captivates visitors with its intricate sculptures and rich history. Revered as one of the Shakti Peethas or Dakshin Kashi, this temple holds immense spiritual significance for devotees seeking liberation from desires or fulfillment of their wishes.
Beautiful and divine temple with rich history. The idol of Ambabai is mesmerizing and the atmosphere inside is very peaceful. Well-maintained and clean. Gets very crowded on weekends and festivals, so early morning darshan is best. Parking can be difficult near the temple. Overall, a must-visit spiritual place in Kolhapur.

-Get down at main entrance, we mistakenly had dropped down backside gate. -Senior citizens are allowed to sit in the entrance if any large queue was there. -Inside temple, womens are separately in queues to have Darshan as its Mahalaxmi Temple. -Drinking water facility available when you come out of Darshan. -Several shops available inside for shopping devotional items. -Peda Prasad nearby exit of Darshan is the cheap and best which was sold by local guys. -Also, Laddu Prasad sold by Temple committee. -Best part is free Bhojanalaya as like in Shirdi was available and taste was very good. (Variety Rice, sabhji, butter milk, sweet.) -Timing 12PM to 3PM -This is located in backside of temple which is of 50m distance from temple. -Free Tokens are given in main entrance and backside gate. -Volunteers/Members inside Bhojanalaya strictly instructs all devotees to not waste food. One should complete his/her food and allowed to get up for handwash. - Plates for children were asked there parents before giving in order avoid wastage of food. - But this Bhojanalaya is present in 1st floor, which is a very big minus point for those where not able to step up. - Footwears are to be kept outside Bhojanalaya.

Beautiful and very very old temple. Powerful vibes can be experienced. Crowded throughout the day. We had gone in the afternoon and early morning and both times the temple was crowded. We were blessed to have a security officer help us out of the blue as my mom couldnt stand and wait in the queue for long hours. Once inside you can feel the essence of an old temple and the idol is so so mesmerising! Truly blessed to have got a chance to visit the divine Mahalaxmi!

"The Mahalakshmi Ambabai Temple is one of the three and a half Shakti Peethas. 🛕 We reached the temple at 5:00 AM, and the early morning time, the pleasant atmosphere, and witnessing the goddess's worship and aarti made our hearts feel completely serene. 😊🌸 There is very little crowd at the temple in the morning, and this is when you get the good fortune of witnessing the goddess's worship and aarti. ☺️ Therefore, you should definitely visit the temple during the morning hours. 😊"

Hindu temple with elephant pillars, intricate stone carvings & a dome with a circular opening.
Beautifully carved statues of elephants and lords on every pillar and wall of the temple. As you enter you find a beautiful circle above surrounded by beautiful pillars and beauty to watch. You're not allowed to use phone inside main temple but the outer beauty is a must watch. On a bright sunny day you may enjoy the beauty of this place and take stunning photographs here.

Kopeshwar Temple is a 12th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Khidrapur, Maharashtra. The temple is known for its intricate stone carvings, stunning architecture, and unique feature of housing both a Shiva Lingam and an idol of Lord Vishnu. The name "Kopeshwar" translates to "angry Shiva," referencing a mythological story where Lord Shiva's wrath was appeased at this very spot.

A wonderful place to visit for spiritual rejuvenation. The temple is beautifully designed with intricate carvings and a serene ambience. The cleanliness and maintenance of the premises are commendable. The chants and aarti create a divine atmosphere that instantly brings peace to the mind. The temple surroundings are lush and well-kept, making it perfect for a calm and refreshing experience. Truly a must-visit for devotees and anyone seeking inner peace.

Beautifully carved stone pillars gives a glimpse into the artistic brilliance of the 12th century. Sabha mandap is the peak attraction for visitors. Best time to visit is during full moon day.

Visiting Kopeshwar Temple was an absolutely mesmerizing experience. The temple is not only an architectural marvel but also a living testimony of India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The intricate carvings, unique circular design, and the way the temple blends both Shaivite and Vaishnavite traditions left me truly awe-struck. Every pillar, every sculpture tells a story, making it feel like you’re walking through history. A very special mention to our guide, Aappa, whose knowledge and storytelling brought the temple to life. He explained the legends, historical significance, and hidden details in such a captivating way that it made the entire visit unforgettable. His passion and respect for the temple truly enhanced the experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend visiting this hidden gem, and if possible, take the tour with Aappa – he will make sure you don’t just see the temple, but truly experience its soul. 🙏

You cannot understand and enjoy this magnificent temple without a proper guide. Our guide Mr.Appu created that aura of the temple with his beautiful narration. Though it's a small temple..I would say one day is also very less to study n observe beauty of each pillars and stories of the each beautifully carved art. Only shocking observation is why Govt or Archeology society is not taking care and beautifying. These are just one of few left over beautiful art pieces by our ancestors , if we don't preserve this for our future generations..it will also go very soon. We need to give importance to glorify our History, keeping politics away. If you are in kolhapur , you must visit this temple, (it's 1 hr 45 minutes away from kolhapur.)( Driving through the sugarcane fields is another unforgettable moment)

Amboli Water Falls

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Amboli Water Falls, located in the Shayadri hills of Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, is a popular destination during the monsoon season. The waterfall, resembling Dudhsagar waterfall, is surrounded by lush green forests and offers a picturesque view. However, it can get crowded during holidays and weekends, with traffic jams on the highway being common. Visitors are advised to be cautious during the monsoon due to potential landslides.
Amboli waterfalls are a delight during monsoon period. Though there is the MAIN Amboli waterfall, the entire route is dotted with number of waterfalls to get mesmerized. During peak monsoon you also get to enjoy thick cloud cover. After the rains the entire valley comes alive with water jetting out from several places. It has become a big attraction and has become quite crowded in recent years. Hence, if you really want to enjoy the bounty of nature then you should visit the place early in the morning. During monsoon, as the place comes alive, many road site eateries also come into being selling tea, coffe, maggie, sweet corns, fritter (pakora) etc. As the day progresses getting parking space becomes a challenge. Their are police men trying to maintain the smooth flow of traffic and restricting people to park on the side of the road. Government has come up with a toilet complex which is a great boon for the visitors. It rains heavely and rain wear is highly recommended. I also strongly suggest to carry extra clothing as the excitement pulls people to get soaked under the waterfall(s). Amboli is a must visit place during monsoon.
Rohit G — Google review
We visited Amboil Waterfalls ,it looked really beautiful and peaceful. The sound of the flowing water and the surrounding greenery made the place very relaxing. On the way to Amboli, we could see lots of small waterfalls, which made the journey even more scenic. The route is a bit rough, but the view is totally worth it.
Jithin P — Google review
One of the very famous waterfall…. Very crowded…. But you will definitely get refreshed here…. Suggest to visit on weekdays & avoid to visit on Saturday, Sunday & Holidays as parking place is not sufficient & road are very narrow due to ghat
Sandeep G — Google review
During monsoon, you can see the waterfall in all its glory. However, it's difficult to find parking due to a lot of people visiting. It's better to visit on a weekday to avoid the traffic.
Shreya S — Google review
Amboli Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful spots in the Western Ghats, especially during the monsoon. The waterfall is majestic, the greenery all around is breathtaking, and the cool mist in the air makes the whole experience refreshing. 🌿💧 However, one big concern is cleanliness on the roadside and surrounding areas. Many tourists leave behind plastic bottles, food wrappers, and garbage, which spoils the natural beauty. The local authorities and visitors both need to be more responsible to maintain the charm of this place. If you visit, do enjoy the stunning waterfall but please carry your trash back and help keep the environment clean. 🙏 👉 Overall: A must-visit natural wonder in monsoon, but cleanliness is a serious challenge due to careless tourists.
Rahul P — Google review
Very thrilling and beautiful place specifically in Rainey days. Unforgettable and wondering ghat place. Smoggy, water sprinkling, there is no words for its stunning looks. But very rush and have to wear rainkot or jackets and must take food with you.

Visited Amboli Waterfall recently and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The waterfall is breathtaking, especially during the monsoon when it’s at its peak flow. The lush greenery all around adds to the charm, making it a perfect escape into nature.

Military Mahadeva Temple is One of the city's oldest temples, this Shiva shrine is managed by the Indian Army and was inaugurated in 1955. The temple is situated on Camp Road and is surrounded by a green, well-landscaped garden with a children's play area and has some benches to sit on. The central shrine houses an awe-inspiring black Shiva Lingam, guarded by five-hooded serpents, which captivates visitors with its mystical allure. Adjacent to the temple is a mini zoo that houses deer and emus, providing an additional attraction for families and nature enthusiasts. The temple complex includes statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and replicas of forts associated with him. The temple is open on all days from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. It has relaxing and peaceful settings makes the place worth a visit !!!
Sushil K — Google review
This temple offers a clean and well-maintained environment, which is a definite plus. Its unique attachment to a zoo is an interesting feature, though the zoo itself appears to be in need of better maintenance and care. For families with young children, the presence of a play area is convenient, but improvements like more grass and higher-quality play equipment would significantly enhance the experience. On a positive note, the nearby eatery seems to be a good option for refreshments. Overall, while the temple grounds are commendable, attention to the attached zoo and the children's play area could elevate this location to a truly outstanding destination.

Dudhsagar Falls, located on the Goa-Karnataka border, is a stunning three-streamed waterfall known for its milky white waters. Surrounded by lush forests, the verdant landscapes come alive with cascading waterfalls and secluded swimming pools. The area is particularly enchanting during the Goa rains when crowds thin out and great deals on accommodations can be found.
One of the best and easiest trek. Start ny morning itself 12+12 kms trek thru forest, streams and tracks. Earlier trek till upper waterfalls now they stopped. Always book a guide, if going solo join a group.

We travelled on 11th Oct 2025. Jeep safari had just opened a day before after the monsoon break. It's recommended to start the journey early we started at 8 am . It is a one hour journey by jeep to the waterfall. You will be given 90 minutes at the waterfall. Additional time can be spent at additional charges. It is the best time to visit as waterfall is in full flow post monsoon. Jeep can accomodate 7 pax . 600 rs per person or 4200 per jeep. Forest check point charge 250 which includes life jacket charges. Pls do not litter this beautiful natural paradise.
Karthik K — Google review
A must visit place for people seeking some adventure. You have to reach Kolem by your convenience. Then you’ll have to book local jeep that will take you near the waterfall which would take around 45min. Then there’s 5-10 minutes of hiking and you’ll see the beauty of nature. That’ll cost around Rs 850/- including the forest charges which is 250 Rs. You’ll also get a life jacket that’s included in 850 Rs. You’ll also can also swim in the waterfall.
Shubhang G — Google review
Good place for adventurous trip. You have option to go for hiking treking and jeep tour. It takes 45mins to go by jeep from the forest gate. Some places you cross the streams and full bumpy road for 45mins. You will be given 90 minutes to enjoy at the water falls. These jeep drivers charge waiting charges if you cross 90 mins. Avoid if elders with back pain. Also the water fall area doesn't have proper fencing support railing or any proper means to stand. Plenty of changing rooms but not maintained properly. You have a life guard near the water falls. Rocks are very skidy and be cautious.
Harsha G — Google review
Heavy Queue up to 3-4 hours for buying ticket, after ticket buy seat in their bolero around 45 min then you reach dudhsagar waterfall parking area… after that 10 min walking for dudhsagar waterfall, after seeing you feeling just wow… awesome location.. but time taken.
Pradip P — Google review
Writing down so that anyone who wants to go can have an easy trip. Things to note: You cannot take your personal vehicle after the ticket booking point in Kullem. No shops inside, so take your water bottles with you. The road is very very rocky. Anyone with back problems is adviced not to go. You will need to pay a maintanence fee, its about 220 per person. Carry cash, they do not accept any digital payments. Theres 3 ways to reach the actual falls. The first 2 options are a trek. You can trek from Kullem or Castle Rock. The trek from Castle Rock is almost a whole days worth trek and you will need a guide. The one from Kullem is about half a days worth. The roads to reach there are also very muddy mostly because of jeeps that keep crossing the road. I personally would not recommend the trek because it's not very scenic, the roads are bad to non existent and is dangerous in general, especially from Castle Rock. And you can't take a jeep back from there either because jeeps already have their passengers pre-booked from the ticket point. The only advantage of the trek is that you can stay at the falls as long as you want. The third way is to book a jeep. Best way imo. They run non stop from the ticket point. It's 500 person(on top the maintanence fee). They'll drop you at the final leg, from there you have to trek for 10mins. A very simple trek. You get 1.5 hours at the falls. Enough to see whatever the falls has to offer.
Shreyas — Google review
It’s an easy to moderate trek for around 11.5 kms one way…the view is not much what we expected but was okish. The guide will force you to take the train track route but please make sure you take the forest route for better view and experience.
Raj K — Google review
There are Two ways to Explore the Mighty Falls, one in by Trek and other is Jeep safari which is 4200 per jeep (Rs.700/- per Head) if you are less then 7 you can share with others. By Trek is very difficult for Inexperience, its took 3 hours up and 3 hours down total of 6 Hours Walk. Forest Entry Ticket is Rs.250/- per person. Jeep Travel time is 45 Min up and 45 min Down. They Gave you 1.30 Hours for bath in Falls if waterflow is low. The 1.30 hours time is not enough for everyone because we cant get out of the falls due to its carry such joy and wild experience, they gave you life jackets so don't worry about if you not know to swim. Overall I highly recommend everyone must visit this Falls once you are in GOA. Timing 9.0 am to 3.0 pm. Checkpost is walkable from Kulem Railway Station, which is 30 min from Madgoan Junction.

Avoid this resort at all costs!!This place is a complete scam. They lure people in with positive reviews and photos of a different resort, but when we arrived, they shifted us to another property called *Wildernest* without any prior notice. When we questioned them, they gave a vague excuse, claiming they assign resorts based on "availability." Since we reached late at night, we had no choice but to stay. The resort we were sent to was poorly maintained, none of the promised activities were available, and the worst part — they served the *same food* for all three days! If you value your time and money, do not book this resort. It completely ruined our vacation experience.

The Syntheri Rocks is a park area that showcases a river with small rapids and rock formations that have been shaped and hollowed out over time. Visitors are required to pay an entry fee of 50/- per person and must navigate narrow roads for some off-roading before reaching the destination. The area offers ample parking space for both cars and bikes, but visitors should be prepared to walk down several flights of steps to access the rocks.
Good place/ falls for a picnic with family. Suggestion: 1. Can't swim 2. No network 3. Carry some cash. 4. Carry your food. 5. Entry fee (50) per head.

I visited here on 20-Apr-2025. Serene place. Parking available. 80 rupees per person. There is a small stall where you can get water and other stuff. From parking to the view point there are steps, climbing upstairs will be a little breathtaking so do have water in hand. One of the best places to visit in Dandeli. Some people do park their vehicle at the ticked counter and tend to walk, trust me it’s doing to be tiring better take your vehicle till the parking place.

One of the unique natural monolithic rock formations to see which has been preserved. Recently opened. Do visit when it's not raining since it's a mud road which poses risk with downhill bends and elevation while returning. Cash only tickets. Either way you won't get any network.

Syntheri Rocks is a towering granite monolith in the heart of Dandeli, shaped millions of years ago when molten magma cooled and later sculpted by the relentless Kali River. Its caves, potholes, and honeycomb patterns tell stories of centuries of erosion. In monsoon, the river crashes against it with wild force; in dry seasons, it stands calm and majestic. Visiting feels like meeting an ancient giant — silent, powerful, and timeless — a perfect blend of nature’s beauty and deep history.
Prajwal C — Google review

“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence."... ............ Exploring Karnataka....at Dandeli...... The famous monolithic granite.....Syntheri Rock..... At a distance of 31 km from Dandeli and 16 km from Ulavi, Syntheri Rock is monolithic granite structure with a height of 300 feet, which is located in the dense forests of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. It is one of the top Dandeli tourist places to visit. Syntheri Rock is a huge, massive limestone rock formed due to volcanic eruptions some million years ago. It is named after an English lady called Ms. Cinthera who is believed to have discovered this place in 20th century. River Kaneri passes along the side of this rock. Owing to the flow of the river from the vicinity, erosion has resulted in the rocks getting hollowed. The corners of this rock cave are inhabited by numerous pigeons and honeybees. Entry to the venue is controlled by forest department. The site can be reached either by jeep or by walk through the dense forest from the entrance. At the entrance visitors need to pay nominal entry fee and vehicles can go up to the parking area from where visitors need to climb down to reach the base. There is a 15-20 minute walk from the vehicle parking to the rock. A flight of 200 odd steps downwards lead you to the base. The steps are very steep and various types of rocks found in the forest are displayed along the steps.

The waterfront park nearby provides a perfect spot for relaxation, while the temple in the vicinity adds a touch of cultural charm to the area. Additionally, there are restaurants with delightful views of Unkal Lake where visitors can savor Chinese and Thai cuisine.
Beautiful lake to relax and spend time. Visited here when train got delayed. Well maintained and lots of place to relax. The view of lake is amazing. There is a kids park too. Great place to spend free time. There is a small food court too. The ticket price is just ₹10!

Unkal Lake Hubli: Perfect for Picnics & Peaceful Walks! Unkal Lake is a popular and well-maintained spot in Hubli, ideal for picnics, walks, and quality family time. The lake is large, complemented by a clean garden, playground, and walking pavements right at the entrance. Entry is a nominal ₹10 per person, and car parking is conveniently available in front. While the lake itself is well-maintained with regular de-weeding and attractive new fountains with lights, it's disheartening to see visitors still scattering garbage and plastic, despite efforts to keep it litter-free. A great place to relax, if visitors contribute to its cleanliness.

A great place to spend time with family and friends! The Unkal Lake and garder is the place where you can find real peace and happiness. The place is totally covered with greenery and we can see many view points there so that we can enjoy the lake view from there and can feel the atmosphere. The lake and garden is really wonderful but I suggest to maintain the Unkal Lake more as the water seems to be polluted, and also request each and everyone (including me) to maintain the place and follow the rules so that the lake and garden look better and it's our own responsibility to maintain our area and surroundings clean including public parks, gardens and more. My overall experience was pretty good and I really enjoyed a lot. Most recommended garden to visit for the one who are new to Hubballi, and i recommend those too who haven't visited this place. There are even many more kids playable area so that kids can enjoy and have fun. Best walking trails are available for morning and evening walks and you'll really enjoy it. Huge Parking facility is also available vehicle parking. The ticket is Rs.10 per person and Rs.5 for vehicle (the day I visited). * Online Payment Option is not available. ** No entry ticket and vehicle parking ticket were provided by the ticket counter agent, who was unresponsive.* Overall my experience for this visit was worth watching and I really enjoyed here! Great place for walkers and jogger’s . We could only make 1/4th round of the entire lake . According to the security of the lake the entire periphery of the lake is about 6.5 kms . The lake closes at 07:00 pm . If you are planning to cover the entire round then have ample time before you take the full circle. The lake is just next to Hotel naveen . The pavement have been well laid . There are lights out along the track so that the move may be smooth . There is a sun set view point at the enterance at a heightened location . There is an eatery/restaurant at the entrance where you can grab snack before you set out for walking . Entrance fee is 10/- and parking fee is also 10/- . If you are in Hubballi and not sure where to go in the evening then this is a good place to explore .

I am a resident of Jaipur and have been visiting lake for long walks ever since childhood. I have seen people from all walks of life come to lake for morning and evening walks. I like to walk the talk here with friends and family. The environment of the lake is very conducive for deep introspection. Watching the sunrise or sunset gives me an exhilarating experience and makes me feel one with God and Nature. Of late you can see the water shimmering like silver if you go around 5:30 or 6:00 pm and makes the whole area look so calm and serene and beautiful. At the other end of the lake there is now a Buddha Park with a very beautiful calm and serene statue of Lord Buddha in sitting pose. At the entrance you will find the lake club, restaurant, lots of vendors selling eatables, and a big play zone for kids where you can enjoy with kids. Also, there are ducks in the lake which you can feed or go for a boat ride. There are plenty of things to do here. It has become an activity centre for people. All in all an enjoyable experience.

It's a fantastic family-friendly spot with a wide range of activities. Enjoy making and drinking fresh sugarcane juice, playing games, boating, bullock cart and horse rides, and pottery. Other activities include crafting with clay, traditional cooking experiences, and more. The breakfast and lunch are delicious, with plenty of options to satisfy everyone.

“Agadi Thota” was conceptualised in the year of 2000 with a theme we grow, we offer, we process our produce. In the year 2017, as a value addition and to generate additional income to make agriculture more self sustainable, we started to offer a special authentic North Karnataka’s ethnic food which is a geographical indicator of this region. It was one of the best experiences to spend quality time with my family, surrounded by nature and enjoying traditional food. I especially loved the mud kitchen items prepared in the old style from our UK side — I’m a big fan! The food was completely tasty, healthy, and reminded us of our roots. The entrance games were on another level, and I had so much fun playing with my little and younger brother. It created beautiful memories for all of us. I sincerely request Agadi Thota to make mud kitchen items available either online or offline, so more people can use them, as they are really good for health. Nowadays, in Dharwad city, I only come across matka water, but not such authentic items. I am truly thankful to Agadi Thota and everyone behind it for keeping us healthy and for teaching the importance of our old lifestyle. 🙏

Agadi Thota is a perfect destination to enjoy the real rural beauty and culture of North Karnataka. The farm is well maintained, calm and quiet in lush green surroundings. The activities provided are enjoyable for all age groups. From bullock cart ride, pottery making, boating, rain dance and many others. But mind you they only provide the structure you have to do everything yourself. But the best part is the food of North Karnataka served during entire day..it’s simply awesome..fresh, tasty ,homely and unlimited also.. The staff is very warm and makes sure that whoever comes there have a great time. The concept of organic farming and showing people how to do such type of farming in a very sustainable manner is really appreciated. It’s not about visiting, it can be called as an complete cultural exposure. I would say family outing, school outing or if you are just bored from the life going around. If you are anywhere near Karnataka u must visit this place!

SIRSI SRI MARIKAMBA TEMPLE

Mentioned on

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Shri Marikamba Temple in Sirsi is an ancient Hindu temple renowned for its stunning Kaavi murals. Erected in 1688, it reveres the goddess Durga and draws an enormous crowd of devotees during its biennial fair held in March. The fair is one of Karnataka's most significant events. The temple is open from 6 am to 9 pm daily, with Tuesdays and Fridays being ideal times to visit.
Beautiful and sacred site offering darshan of Shree Marikamba Devi. The temple premises is well maintained and we get a chance to visit the main sanctum sanctorum and visit devi from up close and give our offerings. Calm and peaceful temple premises 🙏🏻
Sachin R — Google review
The temple was built in 1689, making it one of the oldest Shakti temples in Karnataka. Dedicated to Marikamba Devi, a fierce form of Goddess Durga, she is revered as the “elder sister” (Doddamma) of all Marikamba goddesses across Karnataka. I visited it on a Thursday morning of September at around 7:30 am as I was returning from Jog falls and it was supercool as there was no crowd and I could do Darshan straight. You must visit this if you are around this place. The temple features rare Kaavi murals—an extinct art form of coastal Karnataka involving red-pigmented plaster over a white base, engraved to reveal intricate designs. Inside, a central courtyard surrounded by cloisters displays images of deities from Hindu epics. Shri Marikamba Devi was installed in 1689 A.D. Sirsi was then a tiny village. The deity which is said to have been found in a local tank was installed here through the efforts of the Nandikeshwarmath Swamiji with the consent of Sadashiva Raya II of Sonda Dynasty, a sub-Kingdom under the famous Vijayanagar Empire. Since then Shri “Devi” has become the popular ‘Grama Devata’. Till recently the administration of the temple was looked after by the elders of the town. But from 1955 A.D. the temple is being administrated by the BOARD OF TRUSTEES comprising of 5 members. The trustees are nominated by the District Judge once in five years. Shri Marikamba is the Mother Divine like Kali of Bengal, Ambaji of Rajasthan and Ambabhavani of Maharashtra. She is Mother in love. She subdues the wicked and protects the Virtuous. It is a fact that all the wishes of her devotees are fulfilled only by their prayers. The annual Chief festivals are ‘Jayanti’, ‘Navaratri’ and ‘Kartheeka’ Illuminations, and bi-annual car festival. The temple is beehive of religious, social, educational and cultural activities. 20 Kindergarten Schools in the town area are being run by Temple. The temple is open Tuesday, Friday from 7.00 A.M. to 10.00 P.M. & other days from 7 A.M. to 9 P.M. for various sevas.

Sirsi Marikamba Temple is a Hindu temple located in Sirsi town of Karnataka, India. It is one of the prominent temples in Karnataka, Also known as Doddamma Temple, Marikamba Temple is dedicated to the goddess Durga, who is also called Renuka and Yellamma. It is one of the popular places to visit in Sirsi. The temple was built in the year 1688, and it is one of the important seats of shakti worship in Karnataka. The temple is highly regarded by devotees not just all over Karnataka but also in the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. People of Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts consider Goddess Marikamba as their family deity as they believe that Devi will destroy all evil forces and protect them from natural disasters. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has the central image of goddess Durga in the fierce form with eight arms mounted on a tiger. Legend has it that this 7-foot-tall image was discovered in a pond near Hangal. In 1611, Sadashiva Rao II, the King of Sonda, gave orders to install the wooden deity at this place. The architecture of this temple is splendid making it a must-visit place. Marikamba Temple is decorated with Kavi art on both sides of its walls. Close to the Marikamba temple are the temples dedicated to Maha Ganapati

Sirsi Marikamba Temple is one of the most famous temples in Karnataka, attracting devotees and tourists alike. Visitors praise the temple’s divine atmosphere, stunning Kaavi murals, colorful architecture, and the powerful idol of Goddess Marikamba. The temple is well-maintained and generally clean, making it a peaceful place for worship. Its historical significance and the grand Marikamba Jaatre fair add to its cultural charm. However, some reviews mention limited parking, heavy crowds during festivals, and long queues. Visiting early morning or on non-festival days is suggested. Overall, it’s a spiritually uplifting and culturally rich experience worth visiting.

Visited temple post our trek. Its an ancient temple with a history of 1800 years. This temple has been established in 2nd century. Over the period of times multiple rulers have developed this temple. This temple is of Lord Shiva. Temple of Goddess Parvati is also been established inside the temple premises. The main attraction is the Nandi statue which has been made in a such a way that its one eye is looking at Lord Shiva & another eye is looking Goddess Parvati. The architectural design is amazing. Temple also has many small temples inside the premises. Temple has to be Maintained properly by the government.

Karnataka's pride. A must visit for anyone who wants to go back to roots. It's finest piece of art work and engineering. Beautiful architecture and stone carvings. First capital for Karnataka during ancient days. Many idols have undergone attack but still standing tall. Must visit with your young ones and show them the past history and their architecture skills. Great feeling to touch and see the amount of details on each stone. Great work. I'm no one to judge but it's a great piece of art work.

The temple is located around 800m from the bus stand. People taking buses need to get an auto to reach temple. Inside the region one can experience the rich cultural heritage of Kadamba dynasty. The pillars and moorties are very artistically built in those very ancient years. Great piece of abilities from sculptors. There is daily anna prasada. So people can have lunch. There is a small Balaji temple outside nicely built. If no rains one can visit Varada river bank which is 500m from temple.

Banavasi is a beautiful, quiet town steeped in history and surrounded by lush greenery. Known as the oldest town in Karnataka, it truly feels like walking through a living museum. The centrepiece is the Madhukeshwara Temple, a stunning 9th-century structure dedicated to Lord Shiva. The architecture, intricate carvings, and peaceful atmosphere are breathtaking. The town itself is peaceful, clean, and perfect for a day trip or weekend getaway. The drive to Banavasi is scenic, passing through forests and rivers. Locals are warm and welcoming, and you can find small shops selling local handicrafts and delicious regional snacks. If you're a history lover or someone who enjoys offbeat travel destinations, Banavasi is worth a visit. Don’t miss the Kadambotsava festival if you’re here during the season! Highly recommended for culture, nature, and history enthusiasts.

Shivamogga Zoo & Safari

Mentioned on
1 list
Wildlife and safari park
Outdoor Activities
Shivamogga Zoo & Safari is a wildlife park and zoo that houses a variety of animals including lions, tigers, rare birds, and primates. The environment around the zoo is clean and well-maintained. While some visitors have noted that there are fewer animals to see at times, it's still considered a great place to visit with family and friends. The entry ticket prices are reasonable for a day of enjoyment.
🌿 Shimoga Tiger-Lion Safari – Full Gen Z Review Okay fam, let’s talk about the Shimoga Tiger-Lion Safari (Tyavarekoppa Safari) – honestly, it was a vibe. If you’re someone who loves nature but also wants that lil’ adrenaline rush of seeing wild animals up close, this spot is low-key perfect. 🐅 Safari Experience The main attraction? Definitely the tigers and lions. The safari bus (yes, it’s caged, so chill 😂) takes you through the park, and the moment a tiger or lion casually strolls near the bus – bruhhh, chills. It feels surreal to see them in a semi-natural habitat instead of behind tiny zoo bars. There’s also leopards, sloth bears, deer, and a bunch of birds. The bird section is actually super calming – like nature therapy after the big-cat drama. ⏰ Best Time to Visit Pull up in the morning (10 AM – 12 PM or 3PM to 5PM) if you actually wanna see animals moving around instead of them napping in the shade like lazy roommates. November to February = peak season. Cooler weather, better pics, and more active animals. Summer afternoons? Hard pass. Both you and the animals will just be melting. 🛠️ Facilities & Chill Points Tickets are mad affordable. Entry fee is like a couple of snacks’ worth, and the safari ride doesn’t break your wallet either. Perfect for college students or squad hangouts. There’s a food corner for tea, snacks, and basics – don’t expect fancy café vibes, but it gets the job done. Parking is easy, so no stressing about where to leave your car/bike. If you’re with fam, kids are gonna love it – they even have a small play area. Surrounded by greenery, so your lungs get a break from city pollution. 📸 Content Creator POV If you’re into photography or just wanna flex on the ‘Gram, this place is solid. The animals look majestic, the greenery gives forest-core aesthetics, and if you catch golden hour, your reels will be 🔥. Just remember: charge your phone/camera fully, because wild animals don’t wait for you to find your charger. 💡 Pro Tips for the Safari Hit it early morning = more animal action. Rock comfy outfits & sneakers – you’ll walk around a bit. Carry water, because hydration >>> everything. If you’re going in summer, sunscreen is your bestie. 🎯 Final Take The Shimoga Tiger-Lion Safari is not like some wild African savannah, but for Karnataka, it’s a solid 9/10 experience. Affordable, chill, and packed with wild energy. Whether you’re with friends, family, or even solo, it’s a refreshing break from city life. If you’re in or near Shimoga, don’t even think twice – just go. You’ll leave with cool memories, dope pics, and maybe a new favorite spot to recommend.

Good initiative by government all types of animals are there for sighting.. I have taken bus safari with combo per person 250rs including zoo. But not worth only we can see 1 tiger and 1 lion in cage balance 1 tiger and 1 lion sleeping outside mid of the forest.. rest we can sightsee in safari are deer and kadave… In zoo all types of animals there kids will enjoy the zoo sight.
Vinay C — Google review
Visited Shimoga Zoo and Safari recently, and honestly, it felt more like just a zoo than an actual safari. The "safari" experience was underwhelming — the animals, including the tigers, were in enclosures just like in the zoo, so it didn’t feel like a true safari at all. There was only one lion, and overall, the zoo section wasn’t very impressive either. There's definitely a lot of room for improvement in terms of animal habitats, maintenance, and visitor experience. That said, the highlight was getting to see some big cats up close — lions, tigers, leopards, and even a black panther, which was exciting. But beyond that, it didn’t quite meet expectations.
Deepak C — Google review
The forest space is huge but has only a lion and a couple of tigers. The guide informed that they are bringing in 4 more tigers from bengal in the month of October. We took a private jeep and yet the tour was rushed by the guide stating that it was peak season and hence reducing a star. There were plenty of deer families and the bisons were magnificent.
Vijayalakshmi K — Google review
Not at all worth for the money we pay for both safari and zoo. No much animals / reptiles / birds. No much maintenance too with respect to animals. Eatables are available only at the exit of zoo. Park will be occupied only by adults without even caring for small children. Cycle is available to roam inside the zoo at Rs.50. Parking fee must be paid at the entrance itself
Jayaram V — Google review
Although it has almost all type of animals , count of the same are limited . It’s really good place for kids to learn and enjoy. I recommend parents to get ther kids to visit . So not compare it with Bangalore or Mysore. This zoo is well maintained. I don’t recommend safari here but if you have time and first time visiting then it’s worth.
Nagaraj H — Google review
A very poorly managed Zoo and Safari near Shimoga. Only One lion and two tigers were there in the Safari Enclave, all of them in cages and we need to travel in fully secured buses to watch caged predators.... What is the logic behind this? Why it is called a Safari? Rs. 250 is the ticket cost per person for Zoo and Safari, totally worthless for the Safari Part. Moreover, despite having so many buses, the drivers used to wait till all the 20 seats got occupied and we made to wait for nearly 20 minutes inside the bus for other people to come.... Disgusting indeed.....!

Zoo still under upgradation Quite a good place Not comparable to Mysore and Hyderabad Zoo's Safari was very nice ..... especially the details explanation form the safar jeep staff

Chitradurga Fort, located in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, is one of the most remarkable forts in southern India, known for its stunning architecture and strategic design. Built between the 10th and 18th centuries by the Chalukyas and later expanded by the Nayakas, the fort is popularly called Kallina Kote or the “Fort of Stones.” It features seven concentric fortification walls, secret passages, watchtowers, and water reservoirs that demonstrate exceptional engineering skills. The fort gained historical importance during the rule of Madakari Nayaka and is famously associated with the brave Onake Obavva, who defended it single-handedly against Hyder Ali’s soldiers. With its massive boulders, winding paths, and panoramic views, Chitradurga Fort stands as a symbol of valor, resilience, and the architectural genius of ancient Karnataka. The tickets are very affordable. The place is well maintained and clean.

Chitradurga Fort in Karnataka is truly one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of ancient India. The moment you enter, the massive structure and brilliant engineering will definitely surprise you. The fort covers a huge area, so be prepared for a good amount of walking and exploring. Entry requires a ticket, and there are plenty of guides available at the entrance. If you’re interested in knowing the rich history and stories behind the fort, hiring a guide is highly recommended. Since the place gets very hot during noon, carrying a cap and enough water is a must. Also, there are many monkeys inside the fort premises, so keep your belongings safe and be cautious. Overall, Chitradurga Fort is an unforgettable historical experience and a must-visit for history enthusiasts and explorers.

Sights & Landmarks
Gommateshwara statue, located at the top of a hill, is a must-visit for a day trip from Mysore. It's advisable to arrive early to avoid the heat and crowds. The climb involves around 700 steps on Vindya giri and 200 steps on Chandra giri. At the top, you'll find the famous Jain temple and the impressive 57-foot-tall monolithic Gommateshwara statue.
Shravanabelagola is one of those places that stays in your memory long after the visit. I’ve been here twice. It was a wonderful experience both times. The climb to the top is a bit of a trek with over 600 steps, but it’s totally worth the effort. The steps are manageable if you take it slowly, and there are places to rest along the way. We went early in the morning, so the weather was pleasant and the view was clear. Once you reach the top, the huge statue of Lord Bahubali is truly awe-inspiring. It has a calming and peaceful presence, and the view of the town from the hilltop is absolutely amazing. The temple surroundings are well maintained and clean. There are no footwears allowed on the steps, so it’s good to carry socks, especially during summer. There are shops and eateries at the base if you want to refresh after the trek. Overall, it’s a beautiful mix of spirituality, history, and a bit of adventure. A must-visit place for everyone and anyone exploring Karnataka. I’d happily visit again.

This place has both historical and the spiritual significance. The climb is a bit steep but steps are in good shape and the railings really help for support. There is a dress code to be followed, shorts and sleeveless not allowed so carry a spare jacket, fortunately the administration gave us a shawl which was returned after coming back. The statue offers a sense of calm and photography is allowed but selfies and drones are not allowed. Must visit place for history lovers and architecture fanatics.

The Gommateshwara Bahubali statue in Shravanabelagola is one of the most iconic and spiritually significant monuments in India. Standing tall and majestic on the Vindhyagiri Hill, this massive monolithic statue is truly a wonder of art, devotion, and ancient craftsmanship. The moment you see it, you can’t help but feel a deep sense of peace and admiration for the spiritual heritage it represents. The statue of Lord Bahubali, carved out of a single stone, is an extraordinary example of ancient Indian architecture and Jain artistry. Its calm and serene expression beautifully symbolizes inner peace, renunciation, and enlightenment — the core principles of Jainism. The statue is about 58 feet tall and is believed to have been built over a thousand years ago, yet it still stands strong and graceful, untouched by time. Reaching the statue involves climbing several stone steps up the hill, which can be a bit tiring but is completely worth it. The view from the top is breathtaking, offering a panoramic sight of Shravanabelagola town and the surrounding landscape. Along the way, there are smaller shrines, carvings, and inscriptions that reflect the rich history and devotion of Jain culture. The area is clean and peaceful, maintained with great respect for its religious importance. During the Maha Mastakabhisheka festival, held once every 12 years, the statue is anointed with milk, saffron, and sandalwood — an incredible sight that attracts devotees and tourists from all over the world. The temple complex also provides facilities like drinking water, footwear stands, and resting areas for visitors. It’s best to visit early in the morning or late in the evening when the weather is cooler and the climb is easier. Overall, the Gommateshwara statue at Shravanabelagola is not just a monument — it’s a divine experience that connects you with peace, history, and spirituality. A must-visit destination for anyone traveling through Karnataka, especially for those interested in history, architecture, or spiritual exploration.

There is nothing like this place. It’s a historical spiritual temple that makes you forget everything and the statue just grabs your attention. If you are physically fit it will take you around 25 mins to climb the mountain but the view, energy and every step was so worth it. I hope I come here again and again. If you have some one who can’t climb the mountain you can ask for doli at main office. The dharshan is worth it.

Shivagange

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Mountains
Soaring mountain peak known for its temples, sacred sculptures & sweeping views.
Moderate plus trek close to Bangalore . Access roads from Bangalore is good and a safe parking and toilet facilities. Try to start early so that you can climb chill weather . Last 25% is difficult. When we went there is so much mist and there is no view and can’t view the sunrise . But the place is so chill and relaxing . Climbing in sun might be difficult .

Moderate to difficult trek No prior booking,no entry fee,no guide required Wear good grip shoes Carry water but not a heavy backpack The climb is very steep after halfway Avoid during rainy season,it gets very slippery and is risky. Start early ,we started trekking by 6.Best time,as day progresses crowd increase, monkeys start creating lot of problems and also harsh sun is not helping you either. You have lot of refreshments shops till halfway so no worries about snacks. Few small temples all the way. Must visit as it is an amazing experience.

Nice Place for a Short Trek and Peaceful Vibes Shivagange is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a short trip from Bangalore. It’s about 50 km away and perfect for a one-day outing. The place has a mix of nature, trekking, and spiritual feel. The trek is around 3 to 4 km uphill. Some parts are steep and narrow, but there are railings to help. It’s better to start early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowd. Make sure to carry water, wear good shoes, and be ready for some climbing. On the way up, you’ll see a few small temples and a big Nandi statue. The temple at the top is peaceful, and the view is really beautiful. Some useful info: Best time to visit: October to February (nice weather) Timings: Open from morning till evening Entry fee: No entry fee, but parking is paid Facilities: Small food stalls and a paid restroom near the parking area Tip: Don’t carry food in your hands—monkeys may try to grab it If you enjoy trekking or visiting temples, this place is worth going to. Peaceful, scenic, and a good way to spend your day!

We visited Shivagange in the early morning, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. As we started our trek just before sunrise, the cool breeze and peaceful surroundings set the perfect mood. The silence of the morning, made the whole atmosphere feel calm and spiritual. Overall, it was a perfect blend of adventure, nature, and spirituality. Visiting early in the morning is highly recommended if you want to beat the heat, avoid crowds, and enjoy the serene beauty of the place at its best.
Jeeva D — Google review
Had a wonderful trek to Shivagange! The trail offers a mix of steps and rocky paths with beautiful views along the way. It’s best to start early morning around 6 AM to enjoy the sunrise and cool weather, as it gets quite crowded once the sun is up. You’ll see many monkeys on the way, so keep your food and water bottles safe. The monkeys are playful but can grab things quickly. At the top, the view is rewarding, but water and snacks are quite expensive, so it’s better to carry your own water to save money. Overall, it’s a moderate trek, with some steep climbs near the top, but manageable with short breaks. The vibe is peaceful in the morning, and the breeze at the peak makes it worth the effort. Highly recommended for a day trek near Bangalore if you love adventure and sunrise views!
Sumit S — Google review
Note: 1. Watch out for the monkeys – they’re super active and smart! Cover your bag with a jacket and keep a small stick handy. Seriously, they act like police on the trail 😄 2. Start as early as possible – the cool breeze and sunrise view make the experience next level. This was my first trek and it turned out to be amazing! The path is a mix of steps and rocky patches, but as a beginner, I found it moderate and enjoyable. Early morning vibes were so peaceful – sukooooon The view from the top was stunning, and sitting near the temple after the climb just felt so rewarding. If you’re looking for a short, refreshing escape near Bangalore, I’d totally recommend Shivagange.

Very nice place. We went here with team. The parking place is around 1km away from the spot. Need to walk through hills to teach the place. Kayaking and jumping around in the water was the most fun thing to do here. You will have to wear the life jacket through out though. Breakfast and lunch is alright. Good food. Over all very nice place for a team outing. They have the paintball too but the guns were out for repair that day. The place offers night camping too.

Very good place to spend a day's time with your team. You have to trek for 20 mins to reach the camp once vehicle is parked in the nearby village. The camp organizes a few team building activities and adventure activities like rope walking, kayaking and boating in manchanbele dam. But the fun part is that you are allowed to swim in the waters with a life jacket. They also serve decent Breakfast, lunch and tea/coffee snacks.

The main attraction of this place is water. been there for one day outing. Food is not at all good. But you will enjoy the day. Also location is beautiful 😍 .Rest room is too far and why there is no mirror?
Sahin S — Google review
Water sports activities are good but they have less boats now available and out of all boats few are not in good working condition, food was ok keeping in mind that place is far from normal living area, rappling was good, rope activities are also ok, staffs are polite, this place is mostly for adventure loving people rather than relax, dance, games(cricket, volleyball, paintball, etc) loving people. No paintball, and mud driving.
Govind N — Google review
Nice place for team outing. Best part was swimming and kayaking in river. Other than that rope activities and team building activities were good. Food was ok. Avallaki in breakfast was smelly. Had to throw it as it is. Sambhar vada and idli was good. Reached there by private bus which we booked for our team. Bus was parked at some 1.5kms away from destination. Had to track to location from there. Since its an adventure camping zone so don't expect any air conditioning room or place to rest. Your whole day is going to be tiring. We started from Bangalore at 8 and reached there by 10.30. Evening we left at 5.30 and reached back by 8.30.

A beautiful place to get away from the city and camp under the stars. The host and their staff did a great job of ensuring we had a good time. The food was amazing! They have a selection of activities to keep you occupied. Overall a good experience.

If you want only back water swimming and boating experience then this the best place. Life Saver Jackets are of good quality. Food is okay okay.

If your are ready for a 1km hike before you get to the place, then this place is for you. XtremeZone is not all that "Xtreme". The food was horrible. A local villager we talked to said that they prepare meals in a very unhygienic manner. The staff was somewhat helpful. The owners have no regards for customers though. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The only plus point is the long drive.

Domaine Sula

Winery
Food & Drink
Wineries & Vineyards
Sula Vineyard is a delightful destination for wine lovers, families, and travelers looking for a relaxing experience amidst scenic greenery. Located slightly off the main highway, it requires a short drive through an internal road, but the journey is smooth and well-marked with signs, ensuring easy access without confusion. The little detour actually adds to the charm, giving the feeling of truly escaping into nature. Upon arrival, you’ll find ample parking space, which is very convenient — even during weekends or holidays, parking here is hassle-free. The open parking lot is well-organized, safe, and very close to the entrance, which makes visiting with kids or elderly family members stress-free. The entry fee is clearly stated at ₹600 per person, which includes a guided wine tasting session and a short tour of the vineyard and winery. A great point for families is that children below a certain age are allowed free entry (although naturally, they cannot participate in the wine tasting), making it a family-friendly place despite its focus on wine. The wine tasting tour is structured and accessible even for beginners. A knowledgeable guide walks visitors through the basic steps of wine production — from grape harvesting, fermentation, aging, and bottling. You get an easy-to-follow overview of how Sula produces its different wines. The tasting itself includes a sampling of several wines (typically around 5–6 types), and the staff explains the tasting notes, aromas, and characteristics of each variety in a simple and engaging manner. The session doesn’t feel rushed, and even those new to wine will find it enjoyable and informative without being too technical or intimidating. Once the tour is over, you can head to the in-house restaurant, which is a highlight in itself. The food is genuinely very good — well-prepared, fresh, and served in generous portions. The menu offers a great range of options, including wood-fired pizzas, flavorful pastas, continental favorites, and a few Indian dishes. There are also wine-pairing suggestions on the menu, which is a nice touch for those who want to continue the wine experience with their meal. The dining area overlooks the vineyards, offering a serene view that's perfect for a leisurely lunch or early dinner. The ambiance is casual yet tasteful, making it comfortable for both families and couples. The overall setting of the vineyard is beautiful and relaxing. You can take a stroll among the vineyards, click some great photos, or simply sit and enjoy the peaceful vibe. Everything is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to offer visitors a genuine vineyard experience without being overly commercialized. In summary, Sula Vineyard offers a well-rounded experience: Smooth access with a short detour from the highway Spacious, worry-free parking Reasonably priced entry at ₹600 per person (kids free) A simple, informative, and enjoyable wine tasting tour Excellent food with a vineyard view Relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere It is the perfect spot for a half-day outing if you’re passing by or even a planned destination if you enjoy wine, nature, and good food. Whether you are a wine novice or a casual traveler looking for a peaceful break, Sula Vineyard is definitely worth a visit!

Overall a nice experience. It's a day trip as this place is quite far off from the Bangalore main city. The ticket price has reimbursement via Wine Tour and Tastings! They could have allowed us more time in the Vineyards to explore the grapes. Overall nice experience! The guided tour costs 600 per head.

Good place for a day outing about 80 Kms frm bangalore (HSR Layout). Cover charge now increased to 800/ person from earlier Rs. 600/ person. Note that this can be set off against purchases made / services taken ( wine tour , wine tasting). Good selection of wine (red & white) including their upmarket ranges - Source & Rasa which otherwise is not usually found in shops in Bnglr. The winetasting & tour guide Tanish was very courteous & helpful apart from being knowledgable about most things to do with wine. We tasted about 6 different wine varieties, 2 sparkling, 2 red & 2 whites be prepared for a slightly warm weather at chanapatna as compared to Bamgalore. Given the long weekend, we didnt face much of traffic heading out or returning to bangalore. Food was ok & given the price charges nothing much to talk about... we ordered the nachos, pasta, few indian dishes... paid close to 3k for 4 pax.

A decent experience with brief tour on wine making process and vineyards. Best time to visit is before March as per the crew, as harvest time was complete before we visited and not much grapes were in the vineyards. Explanation and wine tasting were good. Many places for photoshoot. They have grape stomping as well. Overall, a half day experience with fun away from the daily chores. Not much offers (except nominal discounts in bulk purchase) on their wines. It could be improved with more interactive and entertaining tour and tasting.

Good place if you are a wine 🍷 lover and want to drive down to outskirts for a change. Ambience - Good for a day outing, has ample parking space. Paid Wine tour, wine shop and other souvenirs sold at their store. Good place to just relax take some funky pictures and enjoy the silence. Service - Is good, kept place clean and green 💚. Kitchen - While you need to try 🍷 and 🧀 here there are other options of multi cuisine food also served. Place is a little over priced but for a day to just beat the monotony good place to relax and have some decent food and drinks.

It was very interesting and enjoyable to learn how wine is made. This is a small vineyard though but it was pretty. The wine tasting was great and there's a gift shop too. The restaurant inside is very bad though, the food tasted like nothing, there were many houseflies and when asked to clean they did the bare minimum and just shrugged their shoulders. So overall if you visit here just buy a bottle of wine from their shop and go somewhere else to dine, this place isn't worth it that way. I am reducing 2 stars just for the worst dining experience I've ever had
Meghna S — Google review
The vineyard is quite small, so there isn’t much to explore. It’s fine to stop by if it’s along your route, but not really worth a full-day visit. There’s not much to do, and while the weekday entry fee is reasonable, weekends feel overpriced. Food is also on the expensive side, and the vineyard tour requires an additional payment (though part of it is adjusted against the entry pass).
Bharti K — Google review
We booked tickets for Domaine Sula Vineyard at ₹600 each. ₹200 covered the vineyard and factory tour, and ₹400 was for optional wine tasting, which could also be redeemed for food or wine. The tour lasted around 15-20 minutes, and the guide explained everything well. However, we were disappointed to find out that there were no grapes in the vineyard since all the grapes had already been harvested. It was quite a letdown. We felt they should have clearly mentioned the grape season on their website or while booking, so visitors would know what to expect. During the tour, the guide explained the process of how the grapes are grown and harvested over the months. The wine tasting session was good— we tasted six different wines, and the guide explained their taste, smell, and ingredients. This helped us choose which wine to purchase. Overall, it was an average experience. If we had known about the grape season and the overall experience beforehand, we wouldn’t have travelled over 100 km just for this.
