Veveří Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Veveri Castle, also known as Hrad Veveri, is a 13th-century castle located just 12 kilometers northwest of Brno's city center. It sits high above the River Svratka and boasts a commanding position with stunning medieval-style rooms. The castle has undergone numerous additions and changes up until the medieval period and has a rich history of changing hands and nationalities. Once owned by wealthy English landlords, it even hosted Winston Churchill in his younger years.
The castle look simple from outside but once you enter (60 Korunas, $3, 2.50 Euros), you will see the true Medieval feel and the details come to life. Castle Veveří, one of the largest castle grounds in the Czech Republic, was created gradually during its almost 800-year history. This originally small hunting castle, or perhaps just the courtyard of the Moravian Margraves, appeared in sources in 1213 for the first time. As a real stone castle, Veveří was probably built before the mid-13th century. Among other purposes, the castle also served as a place of royal supervision over the settlement of territories upstream of the river Svratka. The castle was prominently expanded, essentially to its present extent, after the mid-14th century during the reign of Margrave John Henry (younger brother of Emperor Charles IV), who made Veveří into one of his primary residences.

Great atmosphere to relieve all your stress . It is located beside the Svratka river. We went there by taking bus 303 from Zoologicka Zhrada to Hrad Veveři. Then went back to brno dam by boat along the river. It's such a fantastic trip for a day. I really recommend to visit castle and have a boat ride.
Yoon P — Google review
We visited Veveří Castle by boat (highly recommend the steam boat). The setting is breathtaking but access is limited, you can only walk around the outer courtyards and buildings with no interior open to explore. And payment is cash only which was inconvenient. I was willing to pay extra for a tour to the inside to the pallace but either it was not available or there was a language barrier. We did ask. The only other interior place available to view is basically Lion and Eagle exhibition. The only café open had a very limited menu, mainly pork dishes. The boat ride was fantastic and the castle is beautiful from the outside but overall it felt underwhelming. If you want to experience both the interior and exterior of a castle, I would recommend visiting another site.
Chelsea M — Google review
Great castle, in great condition and beautiful location. I've visited this place 3 times so far. It's a very nice short trip from Brno. I highly suggest taking the boat there since it adds to the experience. The castle is built on a forest hill with great views all year round. Inside the castle there's a nice small winery, a pud where there's usually live music (I think on weekends only), a cafe with pastries, a blacksmith shop and a small tourist/toy store. On my first visit there was also a small parade and some cannon shooting which was very cool. At 60 CZK entry fee, that place is totally worth a visit.
George P — Google review
Big nice castle, worth visiting also the interior but the towers are impressive also with the basic entry to the yard. Good restaurant and pub to eat and drink, also there is a winery. Great views.
Kristina K — Google review
Would definitely recommend visiting really beautiful castle and not very expensive you can get a beautiful boat ride there and see the river from a nice perspective
Emma K — Google review
We went by boat and paid 60 CZK by cash for just the entrance there. No dogs in the inner courtyard but outside was ok. It was fine. A proper castle. A nice view at the forest outside.:-) Had a surprisingly good soup there at the Winston restaurant.
Veronika Š — Google review
Beautiful and old historic castle, free parking available, the entrance ticket cost is 30 Czech Republic 🇨🇿. Inside is cafe , restaurant and some small shops located. Rest rooms (toilet) available. The palace is old and not more visitors there, so, if you don’t like noise places than it’s best place for you. Enjoy at old and historical place. Recommended if you are traveling through Brno city.

Pernštejn Castle

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Pernštejn Castle is a well-preserved hilltop fortress with towers and ramparts dating back to the 13th-16th centuries. Guided tours are available, offering insights into the diverse and interesting rooms, their history, and filling. The castle has been continuously expanded over the centuries, making it an intriguing place to explore. Visitors can enjoy an easy uphill climb from the parking area for about 5-10 minutes before reaching the castle.
I was extremely surprised how beautiful the castle is! With the kids we took the shorten tour (55 mins) and they love it. The tour-guide was patient and very kind. After the tour, we visited nearby restaurant and the food was delicious. Can't complain to anything.
Hana K — Google review
Impressive and unique castle. Looks like straight from a fairy tale. Last tour at 4, Castle closes at 5. Friendly staff all around. The younger staff speaks English but the tour was Czech only. You get a written guide though in your language. We've been there off season and parking was free at 5. The tour shows the history of the castle and medieval life. Very interesting.
Ronny F — Google review
To reach the castle, you park your car and take a locomotive-style tour bus to the entrance. You buy a ticket from a machine. The round-trip price is 90 CZK per person. The driver helps you buy your ticket. After arriving at the entrance, you walk up. There are different tours. We chose the longer one, which takes around 80 minutes. It costs 260 CZK per person. I've visited many castles in the Czech Republic. The guides speak in Czech, and foreigners are given notes in English. This was the first time a guide understood the English notes we had and explained some things to us in English. This is how it should be everywhere. We felt absolutely at home and understood that we were valued. My esteemed guide friend, Aleš, is the most successful and professional guide I've seen in the Czech Republic. Thank you and I appreciate it. After the tour, you can eat something or enjoy a drink while enjoying the view. The castle is beautiful, the atmosphere is beautiful, everything is beautiful; it's a must-see.
Artur S — Google review
Beautiful old castle. True medieval vibes. It's like from an old fairy tale (not Disney).
Tomas S — Google review
Amazing castle rich in history and unique in its architecture the guided tour is great with many things to see inside.
Geoffrey W — Google review
Beautiful castle, we hiked up to it from the train station. Highly recommend grabbing food at the only restaurant up there!
Neha S — Google review
Fairy tale space near Brno with many hidden gems and several tracks to reach the castle
Petr S — Google review
I got myself the following program: "Od gotiky do 20. století (základní okruh)". The guide was a great storyteller and everyone listened to him carefully. Quite diverse and interesting rooms, their filling and history. Absolutely recommend to visit. Before the start of the tour, you will be asked to leave backpacks and large bags in a special storage room.

St. Procopius Basilica in Třebíč

Mentioned on
3 lists
Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The St. Procopius Basilica in Třebíč is a 12th-century Romanesque church situated on a hilltop overlooking the Jewish Quarter. It was once a monastery and today offers guided tours for visitors to explore its historic architecture and religious significance. The UNESCO-listed basilica is considered to be an important landmark that attracts many tourists, who come to admire its rare beauty and ancient heritage.
It was a great opportunity to visit St. Procopius Basilica in Třebíč city. Visiting a basilica is an experience that transcends time and connects us to the spiritual heritage of the past while inspiring us for the future. Built on the site of the original Virgin Mary's Chapel of the Benedictine monastery in 13th century it is one of the oldest in Czech republic and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage in 2003.
Andrii K — Google review
The basilica is highly recommended for its unique style and old Romanesque artworks. However, the interior can only be visited with a guided tour, which must be booked at the info centre. Tours run almost every hour and are in Czech, but information pamphlets are available in German and English.
Test 1 — Google review
Sadly, closed when I went past. A beautiful old church that is sometimes open. It begins the trail though the UNESCO old Jewish area
Jeremy K — Google review
A mixture or romanesque and gothic architecture dating from the early 13th century - not common at all in the Czech Republic. Please mind that the interior is only accessible with a guided tour (check the timings, we got there 9 minutes late and were not allowed in, not even for a quick glance). A view and a lovely herb garden (with name-tags for herbs!) makes up for the disappointment if you don't manage to get in.
Anna A — Google review
I love this place! It is one of the most beautiful place I've ever seen. It should be on your must-see list.
PO — Google review
Very large gothic cathedral. Worth doing the guided tour even though it is in Czech.
Raymond L — Google review
Really beautiful, very old and rare Roman style church.
Ry K — Google review
Unique place on its own, but there's also a beautiful herb garden outside and a great view of the city. The guided tour of the interior was informative and interesting. It also allows access to most of the spaces inside the building, which give you insight into various eras of the building's existence. If you're interested in history or architecture, I can't recommend it enough. Photos are allowed inside the building.

Excellent place to visit , Lots of history and the gardens , buildings and surrounds are superbly maintained . Easy to spend a couple of hours or more just walking around and taking it all in at a relaxed pace. There is an excellent cafe with great coffee and a large souvenir shop . We didn't go to the museum with paid entry as we arrived just behind a large tour bus group . Plenty of parking across the road out the front. Highly Recommended .
Rick W — Google review
Nice chateau but the church uphill is unique. Never seen such architecture and the view is amazing. I decided to camp next to it.
Geoffrey W — Google review
Very nice place to visit. Not a lot of tourists. Entrance was free, tours were not. Only with the tour you will get into the main part of the building. I don't know if the tour is worth it to be honest. All tours were in Czech. I do think it will be quite interesting when you understand the tourguide.
Elske H — Google review
I enjoyed a lot. In group going on walk through was only me and user guide. I was lucky i felt like special guest. It was marvelous. Specialy museum, i was astonished. Chateau was superb. It is live prove, the difference between private and gowerment owner. And yes private owner is better. Thanks for nicely refurbished chateau. I like it...
David F — Google review
The castle is open on some days only, so check this in advance. Otherwise you might end up with the museum and the gardens only. The entrance to the gardens is either form the street or from the information center and it's for free. There is a cool souvenir shop where I bought some beer, chocolate and some other local products. Parking place in front of the castle is huge and the historical bridge that is one of the top highlights of the town is close by. You will very probably pass through it with your car on your way to the castle, actually.
Jana K — Google review
Nice place with rich history. We ordered english tour, but unfortunatelly they did not noted that. Finally some young girl from reception desk saved us, luckily.
David Š — Google review
I have visited the castle Zdar n.Sazavou in April 2019 and it was great. I liked tge castle itself and the internal yard. There are guided tours and the one I tried was in Czech and it was very interesting. The guide was very welcoming, smiling and positive. Apart the standard things you find in the castle I really appreciated the baby change room, this was the only baby change point I found in Zdar unfortunately, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Galina B — Google review
The huge castle area is very well maintained by its owner Kinsky family, it is just amazing. We really like how the buildings were reconstructed with taste. The orientation system is very artistic and nice. There is absolutely no visual smog of banners outside, so refreshing and unique in Czechia. There is all kinds of services in the castle: a café, a few museums, a souvenir shop, different kinds of acommodation, a church and even a school :) The only thing we were missing was a restaurant that would sell fish caught in the Kinsky's ponds. I definitely recommend a tour called Following Santini's Footprints in many castle buildings. The tour guide Tomas was super nice, he had a very interactive tour with questions and discussions and he knew a lot.

Zoological Garden in Jihlava

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Zoo set in river valley, with themed continental enclosures, tigers, leopards & a breeding program.
The zoo itself isn't big but well planned and maintained. It's definitely one of the best if you wanna get up close to the animals.
Michaela M — Google review
We had a great time at the zoo. Lots of baby animals well cared for. My youngest daughter had a blast in a cold March day, with some snow on the ground. Weekdays the zoo is pretty empty. Highly recommended.
Ed G — Google review
Very fun experience. You have to pay for parking, or you can park in a shopping mall nearby. The zoo itself is nice and clean, the reptie pavilion is by far the best I've seen in czechoslovakia, and there are little monkey roaming around you freely. There is not much wallking uphill, which is neat. Also, there are fun little activites for kids and many educational signs so you and your family learn along the way. I very much recommend visiting this zoo!
Eva B — Google review
A very nice zoo, even in autumn a nice experience. Really huge step forward after 12 years since our last visit. Sloth in the pavilion was really amazing. Completely new experience.
Jan P — Google review
Nice zoo, a bit older facilities and some parts less suitable for stroller, however, overall pleasant with a larger number of feline species to see that are not elsewhere or in smaller numbers. Suitable for children. Great reptile pavillion with many species of crocodiles, lizards, turtles, snakes, etc.
Kristina K — Google review
There is a lot to see in the zoo. The whole family can have a very nice time in the Zoo. It is possible to see the whole Zoo in 3 hours but if you take the time to explore you can spend a lot of rime there. We particulary enjoyed the eagle flights.
Saša H — Google review
Very nice well maintained zoo in a beautiful area! Large variety of animals who seem to have plenty of space. The entry price is fair and parking is cheap. They have a poffertjes stand, you don’t see that much I really enjoyed it! They’re pushy about anti-smoking, outside of two designated zones. I encountered 0 smokers for the first time ever in a zoo.

Perfect for family retreats. The hotel Kocourkov features themed rooms which are a lot of fun for all ages. There is an attached patio and children can have fun in either outdoor or indoor playgrounds. Additionally there is a nature walk with fun elements in the forest. The restaurant Peklo (hell), is a themed restaurant featuring a show in the themed space bellow the restaurant. This is often connected to buffe styled dinner with plenty of choices. Great fun for all ages. Also this fall (2023) they will be opening a themed spa.
Jan ( — Google review
Outstanding combination of hotel, amusement park and restaurant. Kids were happy, especially with St. Nicholas', demons', and cherts' performance. Very authentic atmosphere and very good food for average price.
Maksym G — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! Me and my British husband got picked on by the handsome devils, which made it all the more fun. Then again we have a good sense of humour. Everything is well thought out, the decor is amazing and the actors are just fantastic. The only slight let down is the service in the restaurant, the food was very good, again the decor fantastic but the service wasn’t in line with the prices. Overall I give 5 stars because it was a great day out and we will probably be back. Thank you.
Patricie B — Google review
This is a great show. A full tour not scary for kids more funny. I don't speak czech and everything is Czech but it's still good fun. Excellent building and features. Great actors. Fairly prices.
David B — Google review
There are two aspects to this place. First is the fun of having the demon actors making fun of the visitors by throwing insults left and right. If you like that type of humour, this is a good place for that, but it was not our type of fun. However, to each their own. We could look past it if not for the second part, which was was the obvious intent of the owner to engineer revenue from every visitor by forcing you into places where they can present their coffee and then ending the tour in the cafe where you are coaxed into buying a drink. And this is only one example of the approach shown through the whole experience. After the effort made by the tour guides/actors/demons it really cheapens the experience and makes the whole thing a disappointment. The place is full of interesting things and many opportunities for someone to spend money of their free will if presented in a non manipulative or non assuming way. It really is too bad. To top it off, the first person you come in contact with (the one running the reception/register) was arrogant and rude. Overall great idea with truly poor execution of a customer experience.
Brett J — Google review
This was a wonderful family experience. We really enjoyed the program with the devils and indulged in lovely Czech food and beer. This is a must see and experience place for anyone visiting the Czech Republic.
Thomas K — Google review
Amazing fun experience for young and adults. People (actors) that work there really show passion for their work which is well projected through their work. Place is simply wonderful and huge, they had put a lot of work to put it all together. I would recommend anyone to visit this place and experience a fun Interpretation of hell.
Elvis O — Google review
Really great place, well thought out and I would say could be super fun for kids. The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. We ordered pork knee that was super tender and we barely ate 1/4 of what you can see on the photo. Great quality food for a very reasonable price!

Nestled in the South Bohemian region, Červená Lhota Castle is a picturesque Renaissance chateau situated on an island in the middle of a serene lake. Its striking red-pink facade and richly decorated interiors make it a fairytale-like destination. Visitors can stroll along walking trails surrounding the lake or even rent boats for a leisurely experience.
A wonderful place for a walk ✨️

Excellent trip with the kids, even made at the beginning of December (by that time parking was free of charge, otherwise it's 60 Czk). Nice walk around the lake (1 km, follow yellow marking). Spectacular views possibly every season. Check if guided tour inside is provided, it's about 40 minutes, we'll prepared and even kids liked it (in December it was focused on Xmas habits of nobel family).
Radek P — Google review
If I could, I would have given 4,5 Stars. Why? Because the Castle is suppose to have water around and for the past few years it’s only been a mud🤷🏼‍♂️ Otherwise: ➕beautiful and unique Castle🏰 ➕very good Tour guide🗣️ ➕ideal for Photoshooting ➕stroller friendly We did a Tour (Podkroví) with 2 kids (6&4) which lasted 30min and they managed😅😎
Jan P — Google review
We visited Červená Lhota island castle during hot summer weekend and it was not very busy there. We did not go inside the castle and just enjoyed a short walk around the parkland. The nature is rich there, there is lot of shade so one can hide from the sun light. There are few booths with toys, refreshments and souvenirs. Apart from that, you can find cheap toilets and two bistros.
Jiri K — Google review
A very very beautiful waterside red castle! It is advisable to hike, fish, sunbathe, enjoy the scenery, or just to daze. Of cause, the best thing should be done is to take photo again and again with continuous surprises.

An 1h and a half from Český Krumlov. Perfect day trip if you like to spend time in the beautiful nature or exploring castles. The castle and the surrounding area are very good managed. There are plenty of souvenir shops, coffee bars, even hotels. Parking is available for 60kr. Toilet costs 5kr which is hilarious but inside is clean. I did enjoyed the area and I took a lot of photos. Gorgeous place!

Absolutely stunningly beautiful castle! It has a very interesting history. A great place to visit. There are many historical sites in the area so I definitely recommend visiting to anyone who likes history and castles.

Sedlec Ossuary, also known as the 'Bone Church,' is a small Gothic chapel located beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic. It is adorned with garlands of human skulls, a bone chandelier, and chalices made from the bones of over 40,000 individuals. This macabre yet captivating site attracts visitors worldwide who are eager to witness its unique artistry and contemplate mortality.
Interesting and unsettling historic site. The information and videos about the restoration work makes you appreciate the dedication and craftsmanship of the people involved in creating the Ossuary and now ensuring the site is kept safe is really impressive.
Andy M — Google review
Very interesting church. It is one of a kind. It was much smaller than I expected. Definitely worth the visit. My only disappointment is that it’s so unique but you can’t take a picture of yourself inside. Granted there are few people who do not show respect when taking a pic, the remainder of the folks have to suffer for other’s bad decisions. this place is good for a quick stop.
Anand — Google review
An absolutely fascinating and hauntingly beautiful place to visit. The Sedlec Ossuary is unlike anything else — both eerie and awe-inspiring at the same time. The artistry and respect shown in how the bones are arranged is incredible; it really makes you reflect on history, mortality, and craftsmanship all at once. I visited on a weekday and had almost no wait to get in, which made the experience even better. The site is well-preserved, informative, and surprisingly peaceful. Highly recommend stopping here if you’re anywhere near Kutná Hora — it’s a quick trip from Prague and completely worth it. Buying tickets in advance isn’t necessary if you go early in the day, but it can’t hurt during busy seasons.

Came to Kutna Hora being a fan of KCD 2, and had to stop by this famous spot. I think my girlfriend thought I was a bit off for wanting to go to a church, but she ended up loving it just as much as me! Also don't be a doofus, pay attention and NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOS!! There's a visitor's center just a short walk down the street where you buy tickets, or you can do so online ahead of time. Gift shop was cool, had some KCD related items as well

Amazing experience really, it’s currently under renovations but you can go inside and see everything no problem, I actually liked I got to see the experts working on the renovations also. You can’t take photograph’s but I promise it’s so worth it. This are some fotos of the outside. O recommend buying tickets before hand.

Gorgeous but small ossuary. I'd give it five stars if it was allowed to tak pictures. I'd just like to have memory of my visit, respectfully.

Unfriendly staff. There is no ticket office at the location. There is no explanation of the history of the place. High price. Half of the place is well kept, the other half is ”ongoing”. Place serves it purpose: you get the immediate vibes of looking at real bones of thousands of people. You have to be into it to enjoy the experience. I didn’t. Would not recommend.

A small but very unique church. No need to spend more than 15 min inside inside. No photography is allowed inside. Tickets needed and can be purchased online with timing of your visit to be indicated.

St. Barbara's Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture located in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic. The cathedral, with its sharp spines and flying buttresses, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most well-preserved churches in Central Europe. It was built between 1257 and 1281 and boasts five naves. The construction began in 1388 but wasn't completed until the early twentieth century. St.
Stepped into St Barbara’s on a bright morning and was immediately floored by that soaring Gothic nave—ribbed vaults twisting overhead like frozen webs. Sunlight streamed through vibrant stained glass, casting kaleidoscopic patterns onto centuries-old stone. Knowing it took over 500 years to complete—and that it was built by miners to rival Prague—makes every gargoyle, flying buttress, and delicate fresco feel like a statement of pride. Climbing up to peek at the exterior ribs and slender buttresses from inside was an unexpected highlight—architecture turned up close

Massive Gothic cathedral that serves as the main draw for this town. Beautiful interiors complement the towering external structure. Also featured intricate stained glass. There's a free audio/text guide that provided good context to the visit.

A beautiful church that rivals St Vitus Cathedral in Prague. We spent an hour+ here doing the audio guide on our phones. The audio guide was very informative and easy to use. The exterior of the church is gorgeous, it's hard to choose between St Barbara's or St Vitus in Prague Castle. The interior of the church is also very interesting and beautiful. It was lovely to see so many regences to the town's mining history.

The entire complex of which the cathedral is a part is immense, extraordinarily beautiful, and the cathedral itself is huge, a construction that is no longer made nowadays. When you go up to the cathedral, you are enveloped by a feeling of well-being and happiness. You can buy a ticket just for the cathedral or another one that includes the ossuary from Sedlec , but the ossuary is just for advertising, it's not worth visiting, it's in another town, not far away.

Very impressive cathedral- worth a visit. The audio guide was a bit boring, but maybe that’s just me! It’s very cool to go upstairs and walk around in the loft above the arched ceilings below!

Unbelievable! 10/10 must see! I've sen many pictures of this amazing Gothic church before coming here, but this is one of those places you simply have to experience. It doesn't even seem real. The detail of the masonry on both the exterior and interior are nothing short of stunnung. Stepping inside, was the most ornate and beautifully decorated church I've ever seen. From the masonry, to the carved statues painted and guilded in gold, simply stunning. And to think that construction started over 600 years ago is mind bending! Kuta Hora started as a simple monestary, until one of the monks found silver, and it quickly became one of the largest and wealthiest mines in Europe. At one point in time it was estimated that 30% of the silver that existed in Europe came from Kutna Hora, making it one of the wealthiest cities in all of Europe. With all that wealth came the funding to construct the fantastical. The Works started in 1388 and continued until 1588. Sadly, during the 200 years of construction, the mines began to run out of silver, and with it, the funds to continue construction. You will notice a seemingly plain and flat elevation on the north wall, a departure from the wildly complicated structure, leaving you impressed, but longing for the full vision to have been seen through. Tickets to enter are cheap, and beyond worth it.

A truly unique church/cathedral with the way it’s been built in separate parts over the last 600 years. For kingdom come deliverance fans it’s a must, I even bought a silver Groschen from the gift shop!

Very beautiful church on amazing grounds. It compares to St-Vitus church in Prague. All the sculptures presented in the alley getting to the church reminded me of Charles Bridge. Beautiful. The church itself is very well preserved, though it was weirdly "missing" some stained glass windows at some places (I doubt that it was initially built with crystal clear windows, but I might be wrong). Informative display collection and presentation of historical facts upstairs, near the organ. The views of Kutna Hora from the church's site are splendid.

The Museum of Chocolate and Marzipan is a delightful attraction that offers a whimsical experience with its intricate marzipan dioramas. Visitors can embark on an educational journey through the history of chocolate, from ancient times to modern-day confections, while admiring impressive chocolate sculptures depicting various figures. The museum also provides insight into the process of crafting chocolate and marzipan, complete with adorable displays.
Great fun for our little ones from 3-10 years, they had so much fun admiring all the chocolate exhibits, then making their own creations using marzipan and sprinkles. The smell of cocoa, especially by the train, is amazing. There is a fairytale underground. One of them is very dark and could be quite scary for the very young ones. ….Still having fun at home with the marzipan multi color kits, making food for dollies and such.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
I did not go to the museum, because the ticket is expensive - 280 czk. But I bought a delicious chocolate bar here. Truly great quality Bean to Bar chocolate
M — Google review
This is the type of place that could be so bad that it was good, but the smell inside just makes it awful. though it does have some highlights like Mr. Bean and his car made out of chocolate, and who can forget Check Republics largest interactive chocolate train. The barbies with dresses made out of a combination of chocklate and fabric, the rosedress (also combo), the small devils in the basement who just drink all day instead of processing the chocolate. Basically, the type of exibit that may scarare your kids enough to give them nightmares... help you take a break from chocolate (who am I kidding, just go get a new chocolatebar, and you'll be fine). But if you are looking for a place to scare your kids off chocolate, this is the place for you! Or if you are in the erea and curious about just how bad this can be and have time to spare, I'd say go for it. It's deffenetly a memorable place ✨️

Disclaimer: Do not visit this museum! We were in Tabor and the museum was around the corner from our apartment so we wanted to give it a try. Compared to the other very reasonable priced museums in town, the ticket is way too expensive (250 crowns per adult, that’s around 10€). Most of the exhibited chocolate models are old and there are tons of food moths flying around. The smell in some rooms is disgusting which is weird for a museum about chocolate and marzipan. We were totally disappointed as we did not learn anything about chocolate or marzipan making. The only slightly interesting thing was the so called „Fairy Cellar“ which reminded us of the museum of the Husseits in the center of town. To be honest I wouldn’t even go here if it was free, what a waste of time and money.
Celina B — Google review
A neat little museum dedicated to chocolate and marzipan. There's plenty of information (much of it in English as well as Czech) about the history and production of our favourite sweet treat. All the best displays are actually made of marzipan; there's some impressive models (including the town square and the castle) made in exquisite detail. OK, so the fairy tale cellar is a bit odd (maybe one for the kids!), and it's a little on the expensive side, but if you're in Tábor it's worth a look. Tip: Try the hot chocolate. It's pure melted chocolate (variety of types to choose from), served in espresso cups. You don't need more than that!
Robin W — Google review
If you have 270 czk , don't spend it here go to coffee budik in front. Strange creatures are making strange noises in the basement. Just think, it was such a worthless activity that even paying 40 CZK would have been heartbreaking. Seven of us visited. We could have probably bought two acres of cocoa tree land with the entrance fee in total we gave.
Ebrar O — Google review
Visiting the chocolate museum was such a great experience! It has exhibits and activities for younger children and for adults. There's also a workshop where we could make our own chocolate and marzipan creations.

The Konopiste Castle

The Konopiste Castle is a Baroque palace that was built over a medieval and Renaissance castle. It was once the home of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, an enigmatic figure who used it as his ideal country retreat. The castle is located amid extensive grounds 2km west of the town of Benesov and showcases the archduke's twin obsessions: hunting and St George.
Fantastic historic castle to visit about 45 minutes by train outside Prague and only €12 return. Still furnished and filled with military & hunting memorabilia as Archduke Franz Ferdinand had it just over 100 years ago. The coffee shop inside has some divine pastries as well.
Gary M — Google review
Visiting Konopiště Castle was absolutely wonderful. The interior tour was fascinating, with room after room full of history and interesting trinkets. There’s so much to see. I was especially surprised to see an elevator inside such an old castle. Just be aware: the tours are only available in Czech, however there's audio guides available in English, German, and some other languages. The on-site chocolate shop was a sweet surprise. The variety of chocolates was impressive, and everything I tried was absolutely delicious. I only wish I could have sampled them all! Sadly the rose garden was not yet in bloom during our visit, but I'm very sure it is a sight to be seen. The presence of so many peacocks wandering the grounds added a magical touch. A peaceful walk around the nearby lake was the perfect way to end the visit—calm, scenic, and incredibly relaxing. All in all, Konopiště Castle is a must see. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It blends rich history, natural beauty, and charming surprises.
V O — Google review
Fairy-tale like castle and adjacent grounds with 3 excellent tours; note that each is charged separately and there is an option to get an audio guide in English. During the Franz/Sophie private apartment tour you'll be able to see a set of truly touching drawings made by their daughter showing the alegory of the assassination - taking photos is forbidden and unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. There is also a temporary exibition of historical clothing of the nobility with an incredible guide.
Predrag M — Google review
A visit to Konopiště castle will bring you back in time to the beginning of the 20th century when it belonged to the heir to the Habsburg throne. He and his family lived in splendid seclusion oblivious to what the future holds for them. You have a choice from several tours out of which the one through the private chambers of the family is as close as you can get to the royals of that time.
Miroslav K — Google review
There are 4 tours at different hours. You need more time to see at least 2 of them. The castle is well maintained. have beautiful views. Also there are deers, peacocks and bear (that was somewhere inside). No photos allowed inside of this castle!

Visited the castle grounds on a weekend. Beautiful trails and amazing views. The grounds are free entry. Parking is 100 crowns whole day and very big!
Paula R — Google review
Wow! Just WOW! It's simply impossible to see everything in one tour. That's why there are 4 different routes for sightseeing tours. Unfortunately, we were only able to visit tour 2. But I haven't seen so many medieval weapons and everything else in a long time. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures inside. Come and see! You definitely won't regret it! Parking for a day costs 100 CZK, which is 4 euros. There are also many interesting things around the castle, such as a park, a rose garden, a mini zoo
Oleksandr P — Google review
The castle is interesting both from the outside and inside. The tours are interesting, we especially liked the hall of arms. There is also a botanical garden where you can have a very nice walk, so I recommend coming in the warm season.

The first impression of any business are its employees. Not all of us speak Czech, so we asked the host to tell us the rules in English and her answer was just NO. I would maybe understand if she said I am sorry I don't speak English or tried to find help or use google translate or anything really, but her answer was just plane NO. Fortunately we had people in our team who understood some Czech. Just wondering what would happened if we didn't have a native speaker in our team. She was so eager to tell the rules as fast as possible and to go back to her post. As for the games we spent around 4 hours playing and still it wasn't enough to finish everything. There were so many games, some of them very physical and not so easy, so you would need more then few atempts
Nemanja L — Google review
Took a group of 40 students here. The staff just didn't seem to care, they gave us written instructions and walked away. The lunch selections were poor, and they expected the students to serve themselves, not very realistic! Teachers ended up serving the food. There was never any communication from the staff to the students about who had won, or any follow up to the game itself. Long way to go for nothing too interesting
Peter W — Google review
Great experience, everything in the park was in English, the rooms varied so it was never boring. It gave us a lot of adrenaline, I recommend this adventure
Maria M — Google review
Great experience, many challenging rooms, and each requiring little different set of skills. We had a lot of fun during competing the other teams. It was worth the travel to the quite detached location. Only issue was that we didn't fully understood the rules before the game and had to repeat the first room several times before understanding how to correctly initiate the game and how to finish. So learn all before not to loose time as the game is paid by play time. Recommended.

The ŠKODA Muzeum is a museum located in a renovated production plant that showcases the history of the famous Czech auto brand through classic cars. It is an ideal destination for anyone interested in learning about Czech auto history as it offers an informative tour with knowledgeable guides. The admission rates are reasonable and there is a gift area for auto enthusiasts. In addition to the main museum, visitors can also request to see the depositary where raw gems are kept in a separate building.
Incredible experience. My partner arranged me an English speaking guided tour, and the tour guide was fantastic. Really informative and interesting. Explained the history to me which was fascinating. My highlight was the race car section upstairs. Coffee shop was great too. A must visit if you’re near Prague

Great museum with meticulously restored cars dating back to the beginning of 20th century. I was surprised by the variety of models Skoda produced over its history. Sport and prototypes depository is a must visit (included in museum entry ticket).
Vitaly I — Google review
It's cool to see the company history and all the different cars/bikes but it is a very limited museum. There is another guided tour you can book in advance which might be more engaging
Jonny H — Google review
As a Skoda fan I really enjoyed the museum. Due to a ticket problem, I was hugely disappointed to not be able to tour the factory. I have six Skoda's and about to buy a seventh, but nothing helped with my appeal for entry.
Ray K — Google review
Absolutely brilliant if you're into cars and Czech history - this place delivers on both fronts. The collection traces Skoda's journey from the early days to modern engineering, and it's genuinely fascinating how much innovation came out of this company. You get a real sense of Czech industrial pride and resilience through the decades. IMPORTANT: Book the factory tour at least 3 weeks in advance - it's worth it. You'll see current production, learn about future models, and get the full story from past to present. The museum alone is great, but the factory tour takes it to another level. Even if you're not a car person, the historical context and Czech culture woven throughout makes it compelling. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Museums
The Museum of Communism, situated in Prague's New Town, offers a comprehensive insight into the Czech Republic's communist era from 1948 to 1989. The museum features original artifacts, multimedia displays, propaganda posters, and historical documents that vividly depict life under the Communist regime. Visitors can explore reconstructed rooms like a school classroom and shop while learning about both the positive and negative aspects of the system.
A powerful and eye-opening experience. The Museum of Communism offers a detailed and honest look into life under the regime, with real stories, artifacts, and visuals that bring history to life. It’s well-organized, informative, and thought-provoking — I left with a much deeper understanding of what people lived through during that era. There was no wait to enter, and I don’t think tickets need to be booked in advance. Make sure to stop by the gift shop — it’s definitely worth a visit, with unique items and well-curated books that complement the experience perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Prague and interested in history or politics.
Abdulaziz A — Google review
Going to this museum was the best decision I made in my trip to Prague. If you are into history of countries you have to go there! I spent almost 4 hours here reading every detail. It’s perfect that they are showing the history of communism from the very beginning in Czechoslovakia and continue it as an engaging timeline. The tickets are super cheap comparing to insane tickets across Europe to get inside a church for 30-40€. As a student I only paid 290 CZK. I also liked the design of the museum from the darkness of communism to the bright side of Prague spring and the velvet revolution. Highly recommended🤞🏻💯

This is a really well done and informative history of eastern European communism, especially where it relates to the former Czechoslovakia. Very sobering and pretty heart-rending at times but balanced out by the tongue-in-cheek tone of the gift shop! You could fly round it in maybe 45 mins just focusing on the excellent exhibits e.g. example classrooms, apartments, offices, even motorbikes or you could take your time reading it all and it could easily take a couple of hours. All in all , would definitely recommend it if you're interested in the era.
Graham A — Google review
I'm personally very interested in this time frame and despotic regimes so this museum was fascinating. Yes, this museum is criticizing the communist regime and is not impartial. However, it is presenting all the aspects of the Czechoslovakian society before, during and after the communist regime with a lot of details so your analyze and personal feelings will make the right opinion:) Last but not least: I really enjoy humour based on politics, so the goodies were enjoyable

+a lot of information +number of exhibits on display -a lot of reading required if you want to enjoy the full experience -weak souvenir shop Overall a nice museum offering a lot of experience with communism in Czechoslovakia. I was there on Friday roughly mid-day and there was quite a crowd inside.

Wonderful experience and my favourite tourist spot on Prague. Takes you from end of WW1 to fall of Communist government. Lots to read and see. Some of the sections highlighted how people used humour to get through it like the statue of Stalin being known as the que for the meat 😂

Spent about 3 hours here our first day in Prague. We could have spent a lot more time here, but with only 3 days for the entire city, time is limited. Very educational museum, lots of lessons to learn, and as others have mentioned, it's interesting to see how people retain their sense of humor in miserable circumstances.

it was interesting to go back to story of the life of countries lived the the communist society under Soviet union, and the revolutionary heros standed to change the situation and the future of their country.. it is worthy to visit location and enjoy this journey inside

The Powder Tower

Historical landmark

Prašná brána, also known as the Powder Tower, is a historic city gate in Prague that dates back to the 15th century. Originally built in the 11th century and later reconstructed, it served as one of the original entrances to Old Town Prague. During the 17th century, it was repurposed for storing gunpowder, hence its name.
Wonderful structure away from the busy area of Prague. The structure is grand and captivating. The view from the top is amazing. You get a whole different view when compared to the ones from the old town area. You also get to see some modern parts of Prague. You can buy the tickets ahead of time but it’s not necessary. Definitely should visit. Just get a little disappointing to see people carving their initials on a historical structure on top of the tower. The local government should really do something about that.
Anand — Google review
Stunning old tower, gateway to Old Town of Prague. A must see when in Prague. I recently visited Prague for a short visit in Sept 2025 and when I arrived in the evening and we drove past on the shuttle bus and I caught a glimpse of it, I was in awe. It's visually impressive, not only the size but the architecture of it. It's solid, full of detail, the top is accompanied by several spires which adds dramatic detail to the gothic style decor. I didn't go up due to time constraints but from what I saw where the entrance is, the steps to go up to the tower are like those inside a castle, narrow and steep so make sure you have good walking shoes/trainers on. Even if you don't go up for the panoramic views, to see it up close is impressive. From the Powder Tower, you are a few mins walk to the Old Town - 10-15 mins depending on how fast you walk/if you stop to look at shops etc.
Joanna F — Google review
The Powder Tower is a famous building in Prague you can visit anytime. I went on the second day of a three-day trip, and I opted not to climb the tower. I really feel like I'll be back to Prague again, so I plan on climbing it next time. It was still really nice to visit when the sun was getting lower. I'm sure you'll enjoy The Powder Tower whether you climb it or not.
Bryan S — Google review
Incredible piece of history! We didn’t go into the tower but it’s pretty cool to see from outside. There is a little cafe inside with amazing Art nouveau architecture worth seeing just inside the lobby!
John R — Google review
Built in 1475, the Powder Tower represents the historic connection between the Old and New Towns. Its Gothic architecture and details are truly impressive.
Ruslan M — Google review
It is visually impressive, but for tourists, it is just a tower. There is some reading about the history of the tower for nerds like me in the middle section of the tower. But if it is just for the view, I wouldn't recommend taking 186 steps up. There are other alternatives, such as the Astronomical Clock.
North K — Google review
If you climb to the top, it's crazy! But as soon as you see it, just a few steps from the station, a 15th-century tower stands out among the city's newer buildings. I wonder how different it was before the renovation.
Mattia M — Google review
Yes it is worth the walk up. The view is amazing. If you go first thing in the morning they give you 50% discount. You also get to avoid the crowd. The ticket can be purchased from the outside booth across.

Art Museums
Nestled within a charming Baroque palace in Prague's New Town, the Mucha Museum is a treasure trove dedicated to the life and artistry of Alphonse Mucha, a pivotal figure in the Art Nouveau movement. This intimate museum showcases over a hundred exhibits that delve into Mucha's personal journey through captivating photographs and memorabilia. Visitors can explore an array of his stunning Art Nouveau paintings and decorative panels, each piece reflecting his unique style that has left an indelible mark on art history.
A small but fine museum. The staff were very friendly to kids. Unfortunately we didn’t find a lift to go upstairs to the entrance especially we had a buggy with us otherwise everything was perfect.
Chou S — Google review
I’ve never heard of this artist before my visit in this museum and I’m sooo happy that I had the opportunity to get familiar with Mucha’s work! His art is very beautiful and poetic. Highly reccomend visiting this place.
A S — Google review
This is a lovely museum dedicated to the work of Alfons Mucha. It takes about an hour and has an excellent historical collection that covers his full career. The museum has been expanded over the years and now has more information about his later years. Many people know his work, but don’t know he is behind it. I recommend a visit here and to the Obecní Dum in one day if you enjoy the Art nouveau style.
Gretchen G — Google review
Alfonzo Mucha (1860–1939), known simply as Mucha, is a famous Czech painter and decorative artist famous for his distinctive Art Nouveau style. Mucha rose to fame through his chance collaboration with the iconic French actress Sarah Bernhardt. On Christmas Eve in 1894, Bernhardt urgently needed a new poster for her play “Gismonda,” and Mucha was commissioned to create it. This poster, was innovative for the time as a nearly 7’ thin poster instead of a standard 2’ x 3’ poster. The poster features Bernhardt as a Byzantine noblewoman with flowing robes and intricate design. Mucha was in his mid-thirties and became a breakthrough work that launched Mucha’s career. Bernhardt singed him to a six year contract and established Bernhardt as an Art Nouveau icon. After this success, Mucha designed jewelry, hairstyles, and more posters for Bernhardt, solidifying a long-term artistic partnership that greatly impacted both their careers. Mucha’s work for Bernhardt prominently featured her star power and helped define the visual style of that era’s theatrical posters Mucha returned to Prague in the 1910 and worked for many years on the Slav Epic. The Slav Epic is a mural series he was most proud of highlighting the history of all Slav people. Mucha died in 1939 after a prolonged German interrogation.
Joe B — Google review
If you are a fan of Mucha's posters and art nouveau, this is a must. It won't take too long to go through. Its close to other popular places, and is inexpensive. The little store inside the museum has plenty of nice things to take home with you.
Nelson D — Google review
I didn't really know Mucha before visiting, but a friend took us to this beautiful museum as a group. The museum is basically a mix between a gallery and a museum. Anyone interested in art history should definitely take a look, as should anyone who is open to new things. Have fun!
Torben W — Google review
I went on a Friday in November and the museum was almost empty - quite a shame, since Mucha’s art is so beautiful and the Savarin Palace hosting the exhibition is also very nice. Maybe I just got very lucky - I do recommend you go and try it yourself :)
Madalina B — Google review
Lovely museum especially if you’re a fan of Mucha. Very doable in a couple of hours and affordable. One slight point against, if you’re looking for his large final works (the Slav Epics), they are not on display here, they are on display at Moravsky Krumlov Castle. They have recreations, but it was disappointing that these were missing from the collection.

Municipal house

Concert hall
Concerts & Shows
Obecní Dům, also known as Municipal House, is a stunning art nouveau venue in the heart of Prague. This architectural gem took seven years to build and now stands as one of the most beautiful buildings in the Czech Republic. It boasts a 2,000-seat concert hall, salons, offices, and restaurants adorned with lavish decorative work. The venue hosts classical concerts, opera, ballet performances, and various events like fashion shows.
Art nouveau & Empire blend interior design beautifully executed. The guide did a great job of taking us through the details (and keeping the large group together). If your interest has been piqued by any of the pictures, I would highly recommend you attend. Most of the ground floor is occupied by concessions, so you can take a look there too if you're discrete (or need of a lot of refreshment).
Richard S — Google review
This is a "must-do". My husband and I just loved it. I think it is one of the most beautiful interiors in all of the Czech Republic. Our tour guide was excellent. Her love for her country and being proud of her Czech culture enhanced the tour. The English tours especially book up quickly so make this an early stop so you can see what days and times are available. The times vary depending on the day of the week.
Sara B — Google review
We have seen the building before but joined the tour for the first time this time. It was really worth it. All the rooms have amazing decorations and I especially liked the concert hall and mayor’s hall with Mucha’s paintings. The tour was also very helpful to learn about the history of the building.
Don P — Google review
I had the pleasure of attending a Prague Music Orchestra concert here, and it was a beautiful experience from start to finish. The architecture of the hall itself is stunning — elegant, historic, and designed in a way that makes the music feel alive. The details in the interior reflect the city’s artistic heritage, and the acoustics allow every note to resonate clearly. It’s one of those places where the space becomes part of the performance. The music program was thoughtfully curated, moving from Mozart’s joyful Eine kleine Nachtmusik to the lyrical Largo of Dvořák’s New World Symphony. Each piece felt perfectly suited to the venue. The orchestra performed with passion and precision, and their interpretation captured both the grandeur of the classics and the intimacy of chamber music. A must-visit for anyone who loves music and architecture. The combination of setting and sound makes this concert hall an unforgettable cultural experience in Prague.
Najd A — Google review
The municipal house is from from the first years of the 20th century. Beautiful building built in Art Nouveau style. The building has a rich history: the palace of the Bohemian kings used to be here, but it was abandonded centuries ago and demolisehd to make way for the municipal house. The czhechoslovakian independence declaration was made here after WWI. Inside is a famous concert hall

Easy one of the most beautiful places in Prague. Here the Czechoslovak republic was founded in 1918. Beautiful rooms in different styles, I enjoyed every single one. Yes, the entrance ticket is a little bit on a pricy side but it is definitely worth it

A beautiful art deco building, with lovely restaurants and bars. We went downstairs to Tretters American cocktail bar, and what a fantastic place! Watching the 2 bar tenders making all the drinks was great. Amazing staff, amazing drinks. And actually not expensive. Highly recommend going here for a cocktail or 4!
Mark W — Google review
The building and the atmosphere was great. The musicians and the opera singers were amazing. But the ballet dancers it says that the soloists will be from the National Opera but they were very very bad. They are probably a good distraction and good for advertising the concert to say that there are also ballet dancers included but honestly the musicians and the opera singers were more than enough. Despite the dancers everything was great. Tip: even if they offer you place to the side it is never a good idea. Choose middle seats (even if they are further away from the stage, they always are the better option)

Chateau Melnik

Manor house
Sights & Landmarks
Hilltop castle with grand rooms, a collection of 17th-century maps, a winery & scenic restaurant.
The place has an unmistakable spirit. Drahomira's (mother of St.Wenceslaus) supposed place of origin offers spectacular views towards Prague, hill of Rip and obviously the nearby spot where rivers of Moldau an Elbe blend. Enjoy the castle and the spectacular diagonal lane to the river. 9
Petr L — Google review
The lady who manages the castle visits called us from outside and asked us if we wanted to visit the castle (she only knew two words of English, so communicating was difficult), after paying for the tickets (she only accepts cash) she shows us the stairs and gives us a flyer with some information on the (few) rooms of the castle. In one of the first rooms we meet a group of visitors with a guide who spoke Czech, the room was very small so we tried to reach the next one but got yelled at by the lady, she does not speak English and continues to speak in her language towards us, we try to explain to her that we don't understand a single thing she is saying but she continues to shake her head, in the end one of the visitors knew some English and told us that we couldn’t visit the castle without a guide to supervise us, so we were forced to stay in these small rooms with a group of twenty people listening to a guide who didn't speak our language, there is nothing more stupid... it was not possible to take photos and there are only seven rooms (and they don't even look like royal rooms, you can see that the rooms have been renovated several times in recent years), the city is nice for a walk but being not very touristy, even the locals are not predisposed to foreigners.

The Czech Republic 🇨🇿 has not only a reputation as a beer 🍺 country. The Elbe Lowland is one of the most northern wine 🍇 regions in Europe. The traditional stone terraces on the southwestern bank of the river Elbe create the perfect micro climate for winegrowing.🏞 The grapes are processed in a way to become lively, reductive, light wines with a typical bloomy and fruity varietal aroma. 💐 Take a tour to Melnik, a city situated about half hour drive north of Prague. Your celler master takes you through 14th century wine cellar and offers you local wines to taste🍷🥂, accompanied by freshly baked local bread as well as cheese and other snacks.🥖🧀👍

Pravčická Archway

Mentioned on
3 lists
Sights & Landmarks
Restaurant
Pravčická Archway, a stunning natural sandstone formation, is a popular scenic site that requires a 5km uphill walk from the paid parking or bus stop. The entrance fee is around 4 EUR and credit cards are accepted. The area offers good amenities and breathtaking views, making it perfect for a sunny day excursion. However, it may not be ideal during windy or rainy weather due to its exposed location.
We recommend visiting here if you are around. Since we spent a night in Hřensko, we just parked our car at the hotel in town and continued walking from there. You can also take a bus or drive a bit further to reduce the walking distance. The path to the top is quite well-organized and well-maintained. Once you turn off from the main road, you’ll really feel how beautiful and impressive those rock walls are. It’s sad to see the damage from the fire a few years back, but it doesn’t reduce the impressiveness. I recommend wearing hiking shoes or good sneakers, as some parts of the path can be a bit slippery on rainy days. When you reach the Archway, there’s a small entrance fee, which likely contributes to maintaining the area. There are also clean toilets, which is really convenient. Before you sit and rest at the restaurant, I’d suggest hiking a bit further to the viewpoint so you can see the Archway from above with beautiful scenery all around. Just be a bit careful — it’s a bit steep and the wind can be quite strong up there. After soaking in the views, feel free to head down and relax with a drink and cake — a small reward for the achievement you made today. Don’t forget to bring your trash back down. I know many people can’t stop smoking, and I don’t mind as it’s your choice, but please don’t throw cigarette butts along the way. It’s not that hard to take even the small trash down so we can help save this area for the next generations. 🙏🏽
KN I — Google review
Great place to hiking, on website was mentioned that all roads are expert, but as I feel you can go even with kids. One minus, if you want to sit on the top in restaurant you need to pay for entrance, I think it strange decision , as you will pay for food and drinks. Queue for tickets in weekend 15-25 min
Maria E — Google review
In a stunning location amazing place for those who like hiking. It is quite steep in places but the path is beautifully done so everyone can do it. The hike took about 1.5 hours to get to the most incredible natural arch I have ever seen and it is worth to get exhausted on the way. The award on the top is fantastic, lovely restaurant and magnificent views. Access to the final part is restricted by times so it is worth to check out before trip to avoid disappointment and also you have to pay for it but cost is not expensive. Car park available on the bottom in the nearest town.
Agart P — Google review
Truly amazing natural formation. The walk is a bit far from the bottom but manageable. Bring comfortable shoes, open toe are not recommended, there's a lot of loose gravel, sand, and boulders. Once at the top the cost at the main door is 125 kc, but online you can pay 50 kc. Definitely recommended. Walk along the outside edge of the archway and get some great pictures.
Marcus S — Google review
We had an extremely interesting hiking experience, saw incredible landscapes and beauties. You have to see it with your own eyes. Parking for a car costs 12 euros. It takes from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to climb up, depending on your physical condition. Entrance to the most interesting places on the mountain costs 5 euros. The road from Prague by car is about 2 hours. Interesting, beautiful, you will not regret it
Oleksandr P — Google review
Well… even just being here means surrendering yourself to the genius loci of this world-class natural wonder! So close one eye a little.. enjoy your refreshment in this rather simple buffet.. and don’t be surprised by the crowds. What truly matters is the wooden chateau itself.. magnificent building that literally breathes history.
Vlada N — Google review
Good experience with family to take a loooooong walk in the nature. Need to have good shoes on, water. We paid to get inside the restaurant and the Gallery, but the toilets are out of drift, yes, after long trip, you are enjoying your beer, and then realize no WC. Some of the paths are not easy to walk, just be safe. Again the waitress doesn't speak English at all.
Corrina S — Google review
We visited this stunning site during the Easter holidays, and while it was quite crowded, the experience was absolutely worth it. The hike begins at Hřensko, with a well-marked trail leading you upward. There’s ample parking available at the base, but it fills up quickly—so it's best to arrive early. The trail is fairly steep in places, so wearing proper hiking shoes and carrying enough water is highly recommended, especially if you're visiting on a warm day. Once you reach the top, there’s a small entrance fee. At the summit, you will find a cafe, a kiosk, clean restrooms and an information center where you can purchase souvenirs. Note that the kiosk and souvenir shop accept cash only, so be sure to bring some with you. The panoramic views from the top are absolutely breathtaking - perfect for taking a break and soaking in the scenery.

Wonderful park created by Prince Pückler in 1846 with ponds, waterways and bridges. Earth pyramids on land and in the middle of a pond are lovely. A fine castle with sculptures is inspired by Greek, Roman and Oriental mythologies. The castle's interior is splendid. In my opinion more intriguing than Bad Muskau Park.
Jayjay V — Google review
We drove out early because it was going to be a very hot day (34 C) and we had our dog with us. The inner park is beautiful with incredible trees. They’re all well looked after and the paths go through nice shaded and open areas. You can tell Fürst Pückler loved nature and things dear to him. Where else would you find a grave for his dog, his favourite Arabian horse and a pyramid for his wife. It’s certainly worth while coming here also during the other seasons to see the colours of the trees. The mansion costs 9€ entrance fee and has a big collection of paintings and a beautiful library. There are 3 places where you can take a break. We had lunch at the „Kavalier“ and ended the tour at the cafe „Der Kleine Kavalier“, where we also got water for the dog (don‘t worry, we had enough water for him with us)

Branitz Park is the perfect escape in Cottbus — a peaceful, green space where you can sit quietly, enjoy nature, and let your mind relax. It’s great for a picnic, cycling, or a run with friends. The atmosphere is calm and soothing, making it ideal for meditation in the fresh air. I especially love visiting on a sunny morning or during the golden hour in the evening — the light makes everything feel magical. Whether you want to be active or just unwind, this park is a true gem in the city. 🌳☀️

Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen GmbH, located at Talstrasse 9, is a historic castle factory that showcases porcelain from 1710 to the present. Visitors can witness the centuries-old process of making Meissen china using traditional designs on a self-guided tour lasting between 30 and 60 minutes. The manufactory also offers pre-recorded audio devices in multiple languages for an immersive experience.
A really lovely and modern building, which feels very light and airy. Our tour guide was excellent, providing great facts and stories. Well worth the visit, which is a 30 minute train ride from Dresden, and then a 10 minute walk from the train station. Tip: The cafe was surprisingly good! You have the option of indoor or outdoor seating.

The presentation is a little bit lacking, but otherwise is ok and the museum is amazing. The porcelains came from very different periods and this is why so beauty the collection. Good work for presentation and the kahle is the best.

The Meissen porcelain manufactory is a very interesting place for those who love beautiful tableware, beautiful trinkets and are interested in crafts. You can go to the store and the museum at any time when the manufactory is open. But I strongly recommend purchasing tickets with a demonstration of the production process; it is better to buy them in advance for a tour in a language suitable for you. However, there is an English audioguide, it allows you to take advantage of the German excursion. I advise to visit a local cafe, where you will have the opportunity to dine on original Meissen porcelain. As a compliment we get there especial cookies with manufacture symbol.

A bit too small for the entry fee but as a student you get 1,50€ discount on regular 5,00 €. Even in the small venue, it shows the culture and lifestyle of then isolated community of Spreewald. You can even try some of the old wooden shoes and try washing clothes in the old north sorbic way. You can listen to how the language of the area used to be. I was excited to see, how the women used to cover their head and hairs some 50-60 years ago in western countries, and why the generations of same culture take the same thing from other cultures as questionable after just 50/60 years.

6 euro per adult, free for kids below 16. Parking is a bit expensive at 7 euro. Nice museum and kids friendly, but small, tops 1 h. Beautiful surroundings and definitely recommend a stop at the nearby biergarten. Beautiful walks and nice with canoes too. Cash only!

The staff here do an excellent job of making the museum come to life - especially for children. Well maintained.

Interesting Museum in a beautiful village. This place is wonderful place I've ever visited in Germany, combination of nature and unique village is like n Fairytale. Recommended place to visit with family or small group. Take a boat trip from Lübbenau to Lehde to get more Fun.

Nice but small museum with a few houses showing the history of this area. Entrance is fair but parking in the area is expensive. Also, don’t come for the harbour or river trips - simply too touristy and crowded. Go elsewhere for that.

Really nice place. Plenty of information to get from the German lifestyle around 200 years ago.

Sprawling health center with thermal pools, saunas & steam baths, plus a salt room & spa treatments.
My Buddy and I had a fantastic time here. We spend over 10 hours here. The Sauna options are awesome. So many great choices. Everybody is friendly. A very relaxed and chilled place to enjoy a day of relaxation. They have Hefeweizen on Tap which is really great. The Food in the Restaurant was awesome. We had lunch and later dinner there. I can't saying anything negative about the food or service. We mainly chilled on the rooftop patio. Sunday is a great time to come, no many people around. The pools are fun too. Loved the floating quite pool. We had such a great time we will be back. Can't wait. Thanks for letting us enjoy the facilities to the end. We where some of the last to leave. Thanks for your patience. The employees make the place special. Thanks for a wonderful time.

Huh somewhere between 3 and 4 tbh, but somehow more for three. So in consideration of price, and comparing price this price with vabali I would say that this spa fails the most. 6h with saunas and therme included is smth like 95 euros and ok its fine but I would for this price expect few basic things: - there is no shower gel.. - really limited and hidden places for taking water even in new buildings there is no place for drinkable water - towels not provided - because of location I would expect that's cheaper And then few things that I would expect for this money: - Ordering in a restaurant is like you need to go to the place order food and then they will bring it to you, it's kind of a half self service - would expect a lot of more sun beds it's almost impossible to find one that's free and many of them are just covered with someone's towel. - just found at the end that it's forbidden to take pictures, I don't have an issue with not taking pictures but it's really not so obvious Positive things: - really nice big pools, salty water, sound pool - Thai restaurants have really good food - new building panorama sauna and last floor terrace is awesome Overall, most of sauna's are really small so for sauna part if you want to visit there is much better sauna focus spa and it's in the center of Berlin. But for pools, I would definitely choose this one over the Vabali.

The worst possible experience to come all the way from Berlin to Bad Saarow Therme with the family to experience that this place solely dedicated to senior citizens/adults on Fridays and Saturdays. Children-free days are Friday and Saturday. What a “family-friendly” approach :( Terrible! BIG NOT thank you to the management of this place for ruining my son’s weekend! :(

I've been to better spas..... My wife and I went here last night because we received a gift certificate for our wedding. We spent a little over 6 hours in the pool and sauna. Unfortunately, we didn't like it that much. While the saunas themselves are great, our favorite was the panoramic sauna overlooking the lake, everything else is tiny and feels cramped. The large saltwater pool is nice, but not as relaxing. And again, the space between the pools and the beds is very small and hard to walk around. A big positive surprise was the restaurant. We had the edamame, gyoza, mangu curry with shrimp and bun bo nam bo. It was delicious. Probably one of the best Thai meals I've had west of Phuket. Unfortunately, the evening ended on a sour note as the parking garage is also - surprise, surprise - super cramped and I scratched the rims of our car going down the super narrow ramp. To sum up: we've been here, but we prefer the SpreewaldTherme in Burg or the VaBali Spa in Berlin.

Lovely place to go. The saunas have really nice view to the park! I wished that they had a proper restaurant with more options in the afternoon.

This spa is about 1 hour by train from Berlin then around 20 minutes by bus. Ideally you should spend at least 3 hours to really enjoy it. It offers jacuzzi, swimming pools and sauna. I loved the jacuzzi and the lavender sauna along with many cold and hot showers. Daily pass cost Euro 27 and 10 extra for sauna. Unfortunately, the food is very limited and the sitting is just wooden benches with ants crawling all over the tables. Obsulatly disgusting! There is a nice park overlooking a lake next to it , it's worth a visit.

This is one of the most relaxing and clean public thermal and spa places I've seen. It's affordable, you can reach it by train and public transport in less than an hour and half from Berlin. They have different kinds of pools inside and outside. I would like to give a plus point for the pool with underwater music and its relaxing atmosphere. I heard its textile-free for adults on Saturday. Make a phone call and reassure it before you head on to this beautiful oasis.

Super cool feelings during the winter time! There are lots of pool to chill inside and one of them in outside which is the coolest one! For 3 hours cost is 17 euro around, I paid in January 2020. They give a bracelet for entrance and locker to put your stuff safely. Only one thing was really annoying if you go there really busy time, after bathing when you’re exiting from the place you need to wait in the line to give your bracelet and for payment! It’s horrible system which I saw first time in my entirely life! Why they’re not taking money at the entrance and putting a box to want us to put bracelets... I didn’t expect from Germany sorry but disappointed.
