Sarajevo City Hall

City Hall
Sights & Landmarks
Sarajevo City Hall, also known as the Sarajevo City Council building, is a historic landmark in the city. Originally built in 1896, it served as the headquarters of ruling authorities and later as a national library until it suffered significant damage during the Serbian shelling of the city in 1992. After extensive restoration, it reopened to visitors in 2014. The building features an Austrian-Hungarian architectural style and houses various rooms and halls displaying art and archaeological pieces.
A very beautiful building, both outside and inside. There are a few exhibitions and a museum inside. The entrance fee is 10 Bosnian marks. It was completely destroyed during the siege of Sarajevo, but it has been beautifully restored. Wonderful architecture and artwork.
Diana M — Google review
If you are interested in architecture it is a must see. The outside is excellent but the true beauty lies inside. You can also find some of the history inside. At the top floor you may also find some modern art.
Carlo A — Google review
Sarajevo City Hall, or Vijećnica, is one of the city’s most stunning landmarks, blending neo-Moorish architecture with rich history. Originally built in the late 19th century, it was destroyed during the war and beautifully restored to its former grandeur. Inside, the ornate halls and exhibitions highlight Sarajevo’s cultural past. Located by the Miljacka River, it’s a must-visit for architecture lovers and history enthusiasts, offering both beauty and a poignant reminder of resilience.
Dani B — Google review
Fantastic piece of architecture that has served as the inspiration for many other buildings around the country. While there are some damaged areas remaining from the war, the exterior has more or less been restored to its past state and its location right in front of the Miljacka area river is quite a sight. The building was closed off to the public when I visited but it seems there are still some days when one can go inside, so be sure to check if you are lucky.
Andrew M — Google review
The iconic Vijećnica (Sarajevo City Hall), a masterpiece of pseudo-Moorish architecture built in 1896, stands majestically along the Miljacka River. Its striking red-and-yellow stripes, intricate arches, and dome reflect the city’s rich multicultural heritage. Destroyed during the 1992 siege, it was lovingly restored and reopened in 2014 as the National Library and a powerful symbol of resilience. A must-visit for history buffs and photographers alike.

More than a museum — a place that wakes you up This place isn’t just beautiful — you can see that in the photos. But it holds something deeper. It holds history. Standing here, I had to admit something to myself: how much I don’t know. How much passes by, unnoticed. How much noise surrounds us. And how hard it is to reach the truth. To really understand what happened — and what still happens. You live your peaceful life. And you think you understand the world. But then you come here. And you realize: when innocent people are killed — it doesn’t matter whose “side” it is. It’s not about sides anymore. It’s about humanity. This place — this museum — shook me. Not with aggression. Not with guilt. But with presence. With clarity. It didn’t give me easy answers. It gave me a moment of awakening. And I know I will carry that with me.
Mila I — Google review
A must visit building, beautifully rebuilt after it was destroyed and put on fire at the time of genocide in 90s. It has history to tell inside and always some art exhibitions, adding a few clicks for you guys and sharing a bit of history of the building below. Situated at the intersection of three major streets in Sarajevo, the City Hall is a monument to the multiculturalism of Bosnia. Built between 1892 and 1894, the pseudo-Moorish building honoured the Muslim background of this Austro-Hungarian territory. The building has been used for various municipal purposes since its construction, including as a city court and parliament house, which it was until 1948, when it became the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On August 25-26, 1992, the City Hall was hit by heavy artillery and incendiary bombs. The hall was set ablaze, and the entire library holdings were lost. The fire caused severe damage to the structural and decorative elements of the building. In 1996, the government of Austria funded an initial restoration effort that focused on load-bearing walls and masonry. The European Commission followed in 1999 with funds to continue restoration of structural elements.
Zia S — Google review
Historical landmark during the war the building was burned and a lot of books close to 1 million have been burned. Now restored the building looks beautiful. You’re able to walk in for a small fee I believe 2 euros.

Baščaršija is a historic market in Sarajevo's Old Town, dating back to the 1400s. It was originally built as a caravanserai and has since evolved into a bustling Oriental bazaar with mosques, hammams, and cobbled alleyways. The district became a thriving trading hub in the 17th century, housing numerous workshops practicing various crafts.

Sarajevo is such a unique and fascinating city it is full of history, culture, and charm. You can feel the mix of East and West everywhere: Ottoman-era bazaars, Austro-Hungarian streets, and modern city life all side by side. Walk through Baščaršija, find a coffee shop and enjoy the Bosnian coffee
J — Google review
This area is obviously very touristy but part of its charm comes from all the people just relaxing at cafes. I went in the afternoon around 3 pm and it was quite busy. I also plan to drop by earlier in the day when it is a bit quieter. It is the part of town where you can transport yourself back to what it might have been like in “ye olden days”

Baščaršija is Sarajevo's old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city. Baščaršija was built in the 15th century when Isa-beg Ishaković founded the city. On Baščaršija there are several important historic buildings, such as the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and Sahat-kula. Today Baščaršija is the major tourist attraction of Sarajevo. In the local coffee shop they serv the best coffee.

Baščaršija, Sarajevo — What an amazing experience! The whole area has such a traditional and unique vibe, full of history, charm, and life. The food and sweets are absolutely delicious, and the people are incredibly kind and welcoming. Walking through Baščaršija feels like stepping back in time — a must-visit for anyone coming to Sarajevo!

Baščaršija is Sarajevo's old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city. Baščaršija was built in the 15th century when Isa-beg Isaković founded the entire town. The word Baščaršija comes from the word "baš", which means "main" in Turkish, so Baščaršija means "main bazaar". Due to a big fire in the 19th century, today's Baščaršija is twice as small as it used to be. Baščaršija is located on the northern bank of the river Miljacka, in the municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo. Baščaršija is home to several important historical buildings, such as the Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque and the Clock Tower. Today, Baščaršija is the main tourist attraction of the city of Sarajevo.

Sarajevo is such a beautiful city and its Central market square is a unison of cultures, religions and people from all over the world. It is lovely just to stroll among narrow streets, grab some coffee or food as well as do some local craft shopping.

Gallery 11/07/95

Museum
Art gallery
Gallery 11/07/95, located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a modern gallery dedicated to commemorating the Srebrenica massacre. The gallery's name signifies the date of this tragic event, which saw over 8,000 Bosnian civilians killed by Serbian militias with the aim of eradicating an ethnic group.
Museum specifically focuses on the genocide in Srebrenica, towards the end of the Bosnian War. Unknowingly spent 4 hours in there cos there's so so much to absorb. The audio guide is a must to really understand the stories behind the exhibits, and also please do spend time to watch the films - they are so powerful in educating what went on and also hitting hard on the emotions and hurt that still lives today in Bosnia.
Ying C — Google review
One of the best museums/exhibits I’ve ever been to. I payed a little extra for the audio guide and I highly recommend doing that - it was very interesting and I learned so much. Definitely a must visit if you’re in Sarajevo!
Fevroniya — Google review
We visited this place just before leaving Sarajevo. I liked the exhibition and the way of its presentation though tickets were quite expensive for a small space like this one. Also, we were informed that the tickets are for two days so we could come back the next day but I couldn’t understand the purpose of it as the gallery has only one permanent exhibition and one ongoing exhibition. Ongoing exhibition had very litte material & it was not going to change the next day. So sellimg tickets with 2-day access is something very time specific and not suitable for tourists. I think it would be a good option to have cheaper tickets for one visit only.
Merve U — Google review
There was an excellent experience at this museum Some great information shared and vivid photos as well Definitely recommend getting the audio guide as well Staff were friendly and easy to cooperate with
Fawad F — Google review
A poignant and ever-relevant exploration of the key tragedies of the Bosnian war, punctuated with incredible and heart-breaking photography. I would recommend, if you have the time, taking advantage of the two-day ticket to fully digest the content of the Gallery. If possible, visit the gallery before fully exploring Sarajevo. A great way to contextualise the beautiful city in light of the conflict that decimated it just 30 years ago.
Dominic G — Google review
Amazing, but very sad place. Must visit when in Sarajevo, but take more hours to do it, there is also option to return next day and countinue. Staff is also amazing!
Marko Š — Google review
A very moving and profound experience visiting this space. If you only visit one place connected to the 92-95 war make sure it's here. The hope is in the fact that people will try and find a way to co-exist despite the terrible things they do to each other.
Marek B — Google review
I visited this gallery of course to see the war photos, but also partially in order to avoid from the heat of July in Sarajevo. Hot and stuffy inside. Couldn't concentrate on the exhibition. If you take that much money for the entrance fee, you should at least provide the pleasant atmosphere - air condition.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Tunnel of Salvation, also known as the Sarajevo Tunnel, is a significant historical site located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Constructed during the Bosnian War in 1993, it served as a crucial link between the besieged city of Sarajevo and Bosnian-held territory outside the Sarajevo Airport. This underground tunnel played a vital role in providing essential supplies and humanitarian aid to the city while enabling people to escape from the conflict.
An amazing museum where you can learn about tragic history of Sarajevo siege. The location is a bit out of the city, so better to come when you just arrived or going to the airport. They accept only cash for tickets.
Sari M — Google review
Amazing! A must see. The preservation of this site is perfect. Make sure to check out the gift shop in the building to the right of the tunnel of salvation too. It is run by locals whose family helped build the tunnel. Wonderful people!
Rebecca M — Google review
Great place to experience history from the war. Watch the movie their playing in the video rooms. It will show you how the tunnel worked, and some clip from sniper boulevard and other areas in Sarajevo.
Morten R — Google review
It is very interesting and moving to see up close what the people of Sarajevo had to go through during the war. At the same time, it reveals amazing creativity in how they did it.
Attila F — Google review
Gr3at experience. One needs to watch a documentary before visiting go understand the context behind building the tunnel. Also, if you pay for the parking make sure you take your receipt. It only costs 2BAM.
Mev S — Google review
Fascinating and informative place that tells the story of a hidden tunnel during the 90’s war. There is a real sense of being in the place where real history happened very recently
Ian M — Google review
Well the tunnel is in the real place but is completely rebuilt, so you see basically nothing original except for the location. Museum also is not that nice and not very well organised

The promenade leading to the spring is shaded by old sycamore trees, perfect for leisurely walks or picnics. Beautiful place to visit, especially on hot summer days. There’s plenty of tree shade and the cool breeze from the spring makes it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. The area is peaceful, clean, and great for walking or a picnic. Just a heads-up—make sure to pay for parking, or you might end up with a ticket. Highly recommend for a refreshing day outdoors!

The source of the Bosnia river! You can go and visit the very starting point of the river that flows through Bosnia. The water here is naturally incredibly fresh and you're able to bottle some right where it appears. The surrounding areas are also incredibly well maintained and feature numerous fields, forests, creeks and ponds. An absolutely beautiful area!

A hidden gem straight out of a fairytale! Crystal-clear springs, peaceful walking paths, and the sound of flowing water make it one of the most beautiful spots in Sarajevo. Perfect for a slow stroll, or simply soaking in nature’s serenity. Truly a breath of fresh air and a must-visit for anyone seeking calm amidst nature’s masterpiece.

Lovely national park full of springs. They have horse carriages that you can ride for the 3.5km long path to get to the park. They charge 25km one way or 50km return. Nice place for a picnic and pictures.
Aliyah M — Google review
Situated on the outskirts of Sarajevo in the municipality of Ilidža, the park known as Vrelo Bosne spans approximately 603 hectares at the foot of Mount Igman. It represents the source of the Bosna River and is established as a protected nature monument. Natural Beauty & Atmosphere: One will immediately notice the clarity of the water springs, the gentle babble of streams and the rich greenery of the forest paths. The environment projects an unusually peaceful and “warm” character — by which is meant a sense of welcome, softness of light through the trees and the natural calm that pervades the surroundings. Visitors remark that the area allows for genuine escape from urban bustle. The network of walkways, promenades and small bridges gives one ample opportunity for leisurely strolls, gentle cycling or even horse-carriage rides along the main avenue. Frequent sightings of swans, ducks and other water-birds add to the sense of being immersed in nature. Infrastructure & Visitor Experience: The park is well maintained, featuring benches, rest areas and designated trails that accommodate families, walkers and cyclists alike. Entry is ticketed, generating funds for upkeep, and the paths are accessible and easy to traverse. Spotless water surfaces and clear signage enhance the impression of cleanliness and order. Practical Considerations & Tips: - Access: The park lies about 12-15 km from central Sarajevo, reachable by taxi or public transport via Ilidža. - Timing: Visiting earlier in the day offers a quieter experience before visitor numbers rise. - What to bring: Comfortable shoes for paths, water and perhaps a camera — the scenery provides plenty of photographic opportunities. - Duration: One could easily spend 1-3 hours exploring; longer if one plans to picnic, rest by the springs or take a carriage ride. - Facilities: Cafés and small refreshment outlets are present, though their hours may vary seasonally. Final Assessment: In sum, Vrelo Bosne Park offers more than a simple park visit — it presents a calm, well-preserved natural retreat characterized by clear water, lush foliage and comfortable infrastructure. For those seeking a gentle connection with nature near Sarajevo, it is a strong choice. While it may not deliver the solitude of remote wilderness, its accessibility, cleanliness and warm atmosphere make it a notably positive destination. One cannot visit Bosnia and Herzegovina without visiting the place that gives the country its name. Compared to the relative chaos of Sarajevo, the Bosnia spring is an oasis of peace and tranquility. Even in the middle of summer, sinking your hands into the cool water and taking in a real mountain spring is a truly special experience. There is an entry fee of BAM 8 but it is worth every penny to take in a national treasure like this. Spend enough time walking the trails and hear the rush of the water gushing out on its northward journey.
Andrew M — Google review
Bosnia Springs is a hidden gem that offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Nestled in the heart of nature, the crystal-clear springs provide a refreshing experience. The lush greenery surrounding the area adds to its tranquil ambiance, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and rejuvenation. The well-maintained trails invite visitors to explore the natural beauty of the region. Whether you're an avid hiker or simply looking for a leisurely stroll, the trails cater to all fitness levels. The sound of the flowing water and the chirping of birds create a soothing symphony that enhances the overall experience. Moreover, the local community's commitment to preserving the environment is evident in the pristine condition of the springs and its surroundings. This dedication ensures that visitors can enjoy the unspoiled beauty of Bosnia Springs for years to come. It's a must-visit destination for nature lovers and anyone seeking a peaceful retreat.

Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun

Nature & Parks
Park
Geologic Formations
Natural formations in the shape of a pyramid that some believe are the oldest man-made on earth.
This has such natural beauty. The surrounding park is well-maintained, featuring greenery, meditation areas, and walking trails. Guided tours through the Ravne tunnels are available, where some participants report sensations of unique energy or tranquility. The climb to the summit is steep and can be challenging, but it rewards hikers with panoramic views of Visoko and the surrounding landscape.
H A — Google review
⛰️ Pyramid of the Sun - A Steep but Rewarding Hike in Visoko 🌄 Visiting the Pyramid of the Sun was a memorable experience and definitely worth the effort if you enjoy hiking and panoramic views. The great thing is that you don’t need a guide to get up there. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend one, since all the information you need is already available on posters along the way up. If you plan to hike all the way to the summit, be prepared: the trail is super steep, there are no signs or proper walkways, and it’s very much at your own risk. It took me around 45 minutes to reach the top, and I’d strongly advise wearing good hiking shoes, definitely not slides or sandals. That said, the reward at the summit is absolutely worth it. You’ll be greeted with a beautiful panoramic view over the city of Visoko, making the climb both challenging and rewarding. For adventurers and hikers, the Pyramid of the Sun is a great stop. Just come prepared, take your time, and enjoy the unique scenery at the top.
Mike R — Google review
You shouldn’t expect anything breathtaking from this place, like with the Egyptian pyramids. There’s something interesting here, but it’s hidden beneath a layer of earth. In fact, there seems to be some kind of concrete filling under the ground.
Artem — Google review
Park is nice, caves are fine to visit, going uphill is ok too. People are really trying to keep this place descent. Thank you for the hard working guys who are working there .
Mirela O — Google review
Doesn't this feel like a scam to anyone? I am a bit disappointed even from the moment I parked my car. A lady stopped me at a lower ground, which was still about two turns away. It costed 2 mark to park. And then there were kids and elder ladies at ever intersection bowing to you, asking for money. Funny they spoke German. Not English. They seemed to belong to the same family. The entrance fee was 10 Mark or 5 euro for adults, and supposedly you have a guide that basically tells you everything that's already on the displaying board, saying the concrete dated from 30000 years ago was harder the modern ones. And pretty much that's it. Nothing else to do. Many superstitious/supernatural things. I thought you'd be able to see the pyramid at some kind of panoramic lookout, but you are actually on that mountain. After spending 10 minutes hearing that Darwin was wrong, and human history should be re-written, there was basically nothing else to do.... I was skeptical and we started climbing up but the road condition was nothing but dirt. We gave up. If it was even a greater wonder than the Egyptian pyramids, why hadn't the western world given any serious attention to it? But I had my drone, so I am not leaving without a picture. You can judge for yourself what that it. I didn't do the tunnel thing. It did look like a Pyramid
Sally Y — Google review
A little confusing - the pyramid and the tunnels are not the same location (as it can seem online). The pyramid is worth a visit as you get to climb up through the forest, with stunning views over the city and surrounding area. There is parking right next to the entrance - ignore the woman and her daughter harrassing you further down and telling you to park, if you keep going up the road (just follow the sign for the pyramid) there is parking right next to the entrance for 2KM, which feels much safer and less of a scam attempt. Entrance is 10KM with a tour, but if you ask for a ticket with no tour it is only 5KM, in my opinion its better as you can go at your own pace, enjoy the tranquility of the area, and the sign boards have all of the information you could want anyway. The walk is quite tiring - it is up concrete steps however is very steep, and to reach the top it turns into a hiking trail (so you would need proper shoes to reach it). Do I feel healed by the frequency? Is it really the worlds largest, oldest, most accurate etc pyramid? Is it just a conveniently shaped hill turned into a tourist attraction? You can decide for yourself - either way though it is a nice area to walk, a good view and a fun way to spend an hour or so while passing through Visoko

There can be many activities. Tunnels, museum and jogging to the top of the sun pyramid. But ways are very narrow. And the map for the enterances are not clear. For the first time its very challenging to find places to visit.

A great walk with absolutely amazing things to read and see. I believe this was not recently made, my opinion, before people go mad at me. When you see the thickness and all the angles. It all makes perfect sense. Visit here, then make your way to the tunnels. 3 km away. Taxi rank back down in the village to take you there. It’s amazing place to see and visit too!!!! Tito's Bunker - ARK D-0

Museum
Military Museums
What a great step back into history and a cultural experience with art exhibits to gaze at as well. Totally worth a visit and the cost of admission. We had two amazing staff looking after us, Layla and Amina! But we have to give special thanks to Layla as our tour guide since she did a very excellent job answering all our questions and putting up with our jokes! Layla was professional, easy to understand, and knew lots of information we found interesting about Yugoslavia and Tito’s Bunker. Would be willing to come back again, so much to see and learn, it’s hard to swallow it all in just one visit.
Joshua P — Google review
Not to be missed. I'll clarify some points deemed important to prospect visitors rather than talking about the place itself, since the bunker is well-described on the internet. There are 3 tours per day, all guided, and each tour will have 2 separate groups in 2 languages: local and English. The English-speaking guide was fluent. The tour duration is about 70 minutes. The number of tour participants is limited, so buy tickets online in advance and make sure to have a car waiting for you outside when you finish so you can leave the place. It will be very difficult to walk all the way back. I had to take some visitors back to town with me since their taxi did not wait for them.
Muhammad K — Google review
The bunker would be interesting, but unfortunately, the history and rooms are being ruined by some modern art, and it was artistically designed, having nothing to do with the place. I don't know why they would force such nonsense into empty rooms; it made a terrible impression. However, the guide showed us around and gave an interesting story for 1.5 hours. Entry is 40 km. You first buy your ticket at an agency (you have to go to their website, make a reservation, then you get an email asking you to send photos of your ID, your desired entry time, and the language you want). Then you go to the agency to collect your tickets and pay. They tell you where to go on your own (a few kilometers). There, you park your car on the side of the road, dodge the wasps that try to sting you (successfully). You wait by the gate for a large bus that takes you to the entrance of the bunker in two minutes, where you wait for your guide. The bunker itself is large, but there are no amazing things inside. It's very repetitive, but hey, it's worth it for the history. P.S. Tito never went there. Would be better, if cheaper, honestly

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolutely fascinating place to visit if you’re anywhere near Konjic. Tito’s Bunker (ARK D-0) is one of the most unique Cold War sites in all of Europe, hidden deep inside the mountains and preserved almost exactly as it was when it was a top-secret military installation. Walking through the massive steel blast doors, the long tunnels, and the command rooms feels like stepping back into history — you really sense the scale of fear and preparation during that time. The tour gives you insight into why this bunker was built, how much it cost, and how it could sustain the Yugoslav leadership for months if nuclear war had ever broken out. The combination of concrete engineering, military design, and even small details like furniture and communication systems still being intact makes it an unforgettable learning experience. Our guide was excellent — very knowledgeable, approachable, and happy to answer questions. The tour flows well, taking you through different sections from sleeping quarters to the command centre, with enough time to explore and take photos. It’s eerie but also impressive to see how well it was built and how secret it remained until the 1990s. Practical side: definitely book in advance since you can only enter with a guided tour. The price might feel a little high compared to other attractions in Bosnia, but in my opinion it’s worth it for the history and the rarity of this kind of site. There was no wait to enter (need to book 24hrs in advance though!) and the whole tour lasted about 1.5–2 hours which felt just right. Overall, this is a must-see if you’re into history, architecture, or just want to experience something truly different while in Bosnia. One of the highlights of the trip! Highly recommended.
Fawad F — Google review
The ticket price is 20€ for foreigners and 10€ for Bosnian nationals. Make sure you booked your ticket in advance! You can do it either physically in Konjic in one of numerous agencies, or online (and you'll need to take your paper ticket in the agency anyway). You can't just go to the entrance and buy a ticket. The tour takes about 1.5 hours. The tour is very interesting, the guides are professionals. As for the bunker itself, it is extremely interesting, but to my taste art installations should not be there.
Alexandra D — Google review
You need to make a reservation at least 24 HOURS prior. There are multiple agencies offering them, each for 40BAM. You arrive to the location and then you are transported with bus to tunnel entrance. When we visited there were only 9 and 12 o'clock tours. For me it was a little bit dissapointig as I thought it would be more historical. Also the art ruined it for me a little bit, especially where the artist drew on the original maps in the map room. But art is subjective and you might enjoy it! Overall it's a great experience, but could be better. Instead of art it could feature more of the time appropriate stuff.
Aleš P — Google review
Tito’s Bunker is an impressive and unique glimpse into Yugoslav history. The guided 1.5-hour tour was very informative, led by an excellent guide. The mix of history and contemporary art creates a little bit disturbing atmosphere. Overall, it’s absolutely worth visiting. The entrance fee for foreigners is 20 euros and for domestic tourists 10.
Bo I — Google review
The place itself is very interesting and definitely worth visiting. However, the contemporary art installations just don't belong there. They stick out like a sore thumb and kill the vibe. Our tour guide seemed to be in a rush to finish the tour and she seemed annoyed whenever we took some time to look around and take photos since she had to wait for us. I expected her to provide more info about how the bunker was built. Note that you need to call first to book the tickets in advance. You pick up the tickets at their office in town and the bunker entrance is a 15ish-minute ride outside the town. So, make sure you have transportation there.

Blagaj Tekke is a historic Sufi monastery located on the cliffs by the water, featuring a mausoleum and an old Turkish bath. Built in 1520 by the Ottomans as a dervish lodge, it offers a wonderful area to explore while in Bosnia. Visitors can pay a small fee to tour the inside of the monastery or take a short walk up an opposite path for a beautiful view of the shaded area.
Beautiful place, the water is so pretty. Spring coming from a cave with a monastery. There are lots of vendors and restaurants outside the monastery. A nice walking path down to the water and a tiny boat ride across. It’s a cool tourist area but genuine pretty.

Visiting the Tekija in Blagaj was a truly peaceful and unforgettable experience. The harmony between nature and history is breathtaking — the crystal-clear river, the majestic cliffs, and the serenity of the Dervish house make it one of the most beautiful and spiritual places I’ve ever seen. A must-visit if you're in Bosnia and Herzegovina!

The Islamic monastery of Tekija Blagaj is absolutely impressive! The entrance fee is around 10 km, but it's definitely worth it. Its location, right at the source of the Buna River, is simply breathtaking—surrounded by rocks, water, and beautiful nature. A place full of peace and history. Parking is also available nearby for a small fee. Overall, a fantastic destination that shouldn't be missed when visiting the region!🇧🇦❤️

Incredible place to visit. If you are visiting Bosnia, I would say a must visit. Beautiful historical and natural heritage of Bosnia located at the spring of the Buna river. This spring ranks as one of the largest in whole Europe. Around the spring there are restaurants with a really beautiful view. Of course Blagaj tekke is opened for tourists and you can visit this architectural ensemble in and out.

A short drive from Mostar and the place looks magical. We went on an evening in Ocotber and practically had the place to ourselves. You can also walk upto the monastery though we skipped it, and there are many restaurants around too where you can relax with a view. There is a parking lot nearby in walking distance and I had read previous reviews that they collect money, but surprisingly on the day and time we went there was noone there to collect.

Blagaj, which is the source of the Buna River and home to a beautiful Dervish Monastery nestled beside a cave and mountain. Entry to the monastery is €5. Some visitors were praying inside, and we were told that Dervish gatherings still take place here on Mondays and Fridays, lasting anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours.

Blagaj Alperenler Tekke is one of the most impressive and peaceful spots in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Built at the base of towering cliffs beside the crystal-clear Buna River, this historic Sufi lodge offers a unique harmony of nature and history. With its simple yet elegant Ottoman architecture, spiritual atmosphere, and surrounding natural beauty, it provides visitors with an unforgettable experience both visually and spiritually. A hidden paradise for those seeking tranquility, history, and reflection.

Mostar Old Bridge Viewpoint, also known as Stari Most, is a must-visit destination in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This 16th-century Ottoman bridge is a symbol of reconciliation and unity in the city, connecting its Muslim and Christian quarters with its elegant design featuring a single stone arch gracefully curving 24m above the Neretva River.
Beautiful, even on an overcast day. We didn’t see the river’s famous green waters, but the view was still lovely. The bridge itself is so full of history and beauty that you can’t help but pause and take it all in. A must-see when visiting Mostar.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Old Bridge in Mostar is one of the most breathtaking sights I’ve seen. By day it’s alive with history and crowds, but by night it transforms into something magical – beautifully lit, reflecting perfectly on the Neretva River below. Standing here, you feel the weight of centuries of Ottoman architecture, war, destruction, and then the powerful story of reconstruction and resilience. The bridge is not just stone and water – it’s a living symbol of unity and survival. Locals still dive from it (incredible to watch!), and the surrounding cobblestone streets are full of cafés, craft shops, and welcoming people. Walking across the bridge feels like stepping back in time, yet the atmosphere is buzzing and vibrant. If you visit Bosnia, this is an absolute must. Come at night if you can – the reflections, lights, and quiet atmosphere are unforgettable. 10/10 experience that blends history, culture, and pure beauty.

Beautiful little old town, with a bridge that can be a bit strange to cross, due to the way the steps are on it. But some fantastic restaurants nearby and get this....loads of food and it costs peanuts, compared to eu countries. Well worth a visit, locals are lovely and welcoming.

Beautiful scenery. The water level was high in November and the current was turbulent. The cobbled stones on the pathways make walking difficult. There are many sourviniers shops along the pathway. Many of them are selling magnet, keychains and some turkish products.

The historic town of Mostar, spanning a deep valley of the Neretva River. Mostar has long been known for its old Turkish houses and Old Bridge, Stari Most, after which it is named. In the 1990s conflict, however, most of the historic town and the Old Bridge, designed by the renowned architect Sinan, was destroyed. The Old Bridge was recently rebuilt and many of the edifices in the Old Town have been restored or rebuilt with the contribution of an international scientific committee established by UNESCO. The Old Bridge area, with its pre-Ottoman, eastern Ottoman, Mediterranean and western European architectural features, is an outstanding example of a multicultural urban settlement. The reconstructed Old Bridge and Old City of Mostar is a symbol of reconciliation, international co-operation and of the coexistence of diverse cultural, ethnic and religious communities.

touch 👇 🇧🇦 A Day Trip to Bosnia & Herzegovina 🌉 Visited the iconic Mostar Bridge on a day trip from Croatia — and it was such a memorable experience. The old bridge, or Stari Most, is not just beautiful but also full of history and meaning. Rebuilt after the war, it stands as a powerful symbol of unity and resilience. Walking through the cobblestone streets and watching locals dive off the bridge into the Neretva River felt surreal. There’s something about the culture and warmth here that strangely reminded me of Malaysia — the hospitality, the blend of traditions, and the shared love for food and community. Definitely one of the most heartfelt and enriching day trips I’ve done in Europe ❤️

I visited Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 4th, 2018, and it was beautiful. The cobblestone streets and ancient buildings many still marked with bullet holes told the story of over 300,000 men, women, and children who lost their lives in a war fought over religion. My tour guide, who introduced himself as Yugoslavian (from a country that no longer exists), had a master’s in religion. He said something that I’ll never forget: “I’ve read every religious book, and they all say the same thing religion is freedom.” Our final stop was the iconic Mostar Bridge, where daredevils leap into the water below. As I sat there reflecting, I thought about how fortunate I am to live in a country where all children of all abilities and colors have the same right to education, where women can have equal right, and where anyone can freely practice their faith. On that day, July 4th, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I felt the deepest sense of gratitude and pride for my country. America is freedom. True freedom isn’t the absence of injustice, but the courage to confront it. That’s what makes America free. ❤️💙🤍 *UNESCO heritage site*

Kravica Waterfall is a scenic spot popular for swimming and photography, with nearby concessions available. Some visitors find the entrance fee to be high, considering it's a natural feature, while others appreciate the affordable access and free parking. The walk down to the falls offers numerous photo opportunities and stunning views. Visitors enjoy swimming in the river at the bottom of the falls and appreciate the clean bathing area with ample seating.
Incredible place ! We got there early and it was so relaxing and not busy at all. Loungers were out and free to use and it had a lovely cafe. The water is freezing haha so not many people swam at all. But it was a gorgeous place and SO worth a visit
Madison C — Google review
Still 10 euro to enter if you're wondering. The ascent and descent can be a bit difficult due to the odd designs of the steps. The waterfall itself is beautiful and that's why we came of course, but the area around the falls feels very run down. Maybe it's because of the off season, but boarded up restaurants covered in graffiti, no real paths or sense of organisation. It does feel like a bunch of people just placed down shacks to sell drinks and gelato out of for a few months of the year.

This has been on my bucket list for years and I'm so happy to have finally done it. We went in end of October and, because it was a decent day, still swam. It was so lovely. Highly recommend, it's such a beautiful waterfall

Very nice waterfalls, they are different and a must see if you are visiting the area. The reception guy was very nice and informative. We parked at a parking ahead of the park which was 3 EUR for the hole day, but 1 hour is enough if you dont visit Mala Kravica.

Wonderful place, nice in October as its quiet, food at the restaurant was delicious and served by 2 polite lads. Well worth a visit, I recommend making your own way so you can spend as long as you like there, souvenirs we're a good price too.

Very beautiful! A bit expensive for 10eur entrance but still worth it. We stayed for about 1h30. We walked towards Mala Kavinica. It didn’t have much view on the other falls but the clear waters was beautiful. There were cafes by the falls but all closed at this season. The bridge going to the other side is also closed.

Kravica Waterfall was my favourite place when I visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in early October. I couldn't contain my excitement during the entire 90 minutes I spent there and I took dozens of selfies, photos, and videos to capture the beauty of this natural wonder. I really wish I had more time, as I didn’t want to leave so soon. The €10 entry fee is absolutely worth it to witness such a marvel. There were people swimming and having fun in the water, as it was a gloriously sunny day. I also sat down to enjoy a coffee and a cigarette, simply soaking in the breathtaking surroundings and appreciating the moment.

This waterfall is breathtaking and totally worth a visit! 💙 • The view is magical, and the area is perfect for relaxing and taking amazing photos. 📸🍃 • You can even enjoy the water up close for a refreshing experience. 🌞💦 ⚠️ Be prepared for the climb! • The stairs are very long and steep 🪜🥵 • Going down is okay, but coming back up is tough, especially in the heat. ☀️😓 Overall: An unforgettable natural wonder in Bosnia!

Be sure to wear good shoes. Also note that swimming here costs money. 2.5 euro under 18 and above 5.5 euro. The lake is awesome. No need to bring snorkels, the water is clear but I haven't seen anything. Also no toilet or shops down at the lake. Toilets are present on top.

The Blue Lake is just fantastic. It’s a bit of a hike in and out as the path is just over 1/2 mile long with 450ft of elevation gain from bottom to the top, but it’s worth the effort. Take food and drink as you don’t want to have to go up and down any more than necessary. The lake is a sink hole and is just beautiful. Great swimming, diving and general fun that kept our teenage kids off the phones the whole time we were there. Will be back again soon.

Really unique place with his own story. Blue lake was always attractive to visit but last year's lake accessibility has been improved. There is a path which brings you (almost) to the lake itself. Once there you enjoy the untouched nature and get unexpected refreshment from the lake. Way back is not that easy. Do not hurry and keep in mind to take some wather with you. However, once back on the top there is a great small place "Šimetrija" which offers different types of refreshments. Really great experience.

(Translated by Google) Awesome and incredibly impressive/beautiful place. You should wear sturdy shoes. (No sandals or similar) From the parking lot you can walk through the forest along the "crater". Please pay close attention to your children, there is only a railing at the top of the crater. (A kind of viewing platform) The path along the crater is very beautiful but unpaved. (And it's quite steep uphill) There is also another path, but it doesn't have a panoramic view. A trip is definitely worth it. You should also have something to drink with you. I was very impressed by the sight 😁 (Original) Krasser und unglaublich imposanter / schöner Ort. Man sollte festes Schuhwerk tragen. (Keine Sandalen o.

Tucepi Beach, located along the Makarska Riviera, is a popular spot for tourists seeking outdoor activities and a true Dalmatian experience. Stretching 2.5 miles along the coastline, this stunning beach offers sparkling waters and breathtaking sunset views. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the calm sea or partake in various water sports and excursions. The beach also features natural shade from pine trees and has amenities such as cafes and a designated area for furry friends to enjoy.
Tucepi Beach is an absolute gem! The crystal-clear waters and pristine pebbles create a perfect setting for relaxation. The promenade is lovely for an evening stroll, lined with charming cafes and restaurants. Despite the beach getting busy during peak season, it never feels too overcrowded, and the family-friendly atmosphere is a big plus. The views are breathtaking, and the amenities are top-notch. It's a perfect spot for both sunbathing and swimming. Highly recommend a visit if you're in Croatia!

Sections of the beach are nice and photogenic, but overall this is a bunch of questionable touristy restaurants, generic bakery shops and LOTS of private accomodation options right on the beach. Motorbikes and deliveries use the promenade to bypass traffic. Architecturally, everything is horrendeous. Several hige hotels are right on the waterfront. Less chaotic than Makarska, but that is not saying much.

Makarska Harbour, located in the historic city of Makarska Riviera, is a bustling port with a picturesque backdrop. Contrary to typical harbor stereotypes, this one offers stunning sights and clean surroundings. The vibrant blue and green waters complement the array of restaurants, bars, and cafes along the promenade. Visitors can enjoy affordable dining options while basking in the sunny weather.
I love walking in the harbor, looking at the boats and sea. And this place fulfilled it. The harbor is clean and sometimes full of people on the promenade.

Punta Rata, also known as Dugi Rat, is a stunning pebble beach located in the picturesque town of Brela on the Makarska Riviera. The beach is famous for its crystal-clear waters, pine tree-lined surroundings, and the iconic Brela Rock that juts out from the turquoise sea. Forbes magazine even recognized Punta Rata as one of the most beautiful beaches globally in 2004.
Absolutely stunning beach and hands down one of the most beautiful promenades we’ve seen along this coast. From what we can tell on the map, it stretches all the way to Makarska — but right around here, it looks absolutely unreal. The mix of greenery, the leaning trees, the turquoise water, and the clean, well-kept path — it all hits just right. Especially if you're not here during peak tourist time. We came in mid-May, and the whole place felt magical. Punta Rata Beach itself looked incredible. You could actually find your own little corner, a quiet spot to settle in. I’m guessing that during peak season, there’s no way you’d be able to find a comfortable space to lay down and relax.

The beach is beautiful but a little bit crowded. Beautiful landscape, crystal clear water, pebble beach. The "parking" is just a patch of dirt and trees — no pavement, no order — but they still charge €4 per hour. From 9 AM to 3 PM, I paid 24 €. The attendant speaks aggressively and treats visitors with zero respect. It's totally unprofessional and a terrible first impression for such a beautiful beach.
Mihaela A — Google review
The most amazing beach in Brela and has crystal clear water, and the beach with small pebbles. The calm, shallow water and pine-tree promenade makes it a great spot for everyone.
Amalia M — Google review
I confirm this is a nice place: - views to sea/mountains/islands are superb from any side of the beach - has many shadow places under big trees - less crowded than Makarska beaches - low locals with their goods level - low garbage level - has some nice places to do great photos (like Brela rock) Basically, calm village beach with great views. Only downside - expensive parking nearby.
Akela — Google review
I love this place, especially in the morning before 9 a.m., while the tourists are still asleep. The most beautiful it ever was was during Covid-19 – no one around, just me, the crystal-clear sea, pine trees, fish and squirrels. That’s why, even today, I quietly pray every day: “Dear God, please send us another small, sweet pandemic. This time, one that harms no one, but whose symptoms simply stop people from travelling – say, global diarrhoea or a collective outbreak of painful hemorrhoids. Amen."
Wolflisnjak — Google review
Definitely the best beach in Brela, and I wouldn’t exaggerate if I say that it’s the best beach in whole Croatia. Small stones are very pleasant under the feet and absolutely no need for those ugly sea shoes. Be a real man and walk bare footed. And ladies that are planning to attract someone, you can do it only without sea shoes. There are a lot of pines with natural shade at the beach. Free showers are available in whole Brela which is really great and quite rare nowadays.
Ivann — Google review
One of the best beaches I’ve ever been. The temperature of the water is great and if you swim a bit, you can see the full chain of mountains behind the beach. Yes, it is crowded compared to others, but I don’t think that’s a real problem. There’s plenty of space and it’s not impossible to find a place for you in the shadow. A pair of sunbeds and umbrella costs 28 euros.
Rener — Google review
Beautiful, quiet, gravel beach. Super clean water. Have to pay for parking and for toilets. Easy to go for a walk as there's a promenade. -1 * due to lack of free toilets and I believe you need coins for it.

Zipline Croatia in Omis offers a thrilling experience with breathtaking views of canyons and rivers. The professional guides ensure safety and provide clear instructions, making it suitable for all ages and first-timers. The well-maintained equipment and top-notch safety measures contribute to an unforgettable adventure. Participants praise the friendly and empathetic guides who make the experience enjoyable for everyone, even those apprehensive about heights.
An amazing and exhilarating experience with breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. The staff were friendly and helpful, and some training was given beforehand to learn to break. Each line was explained so you knew the speed and breaking requirements. We were even permitted to go tandem on some of them. Would absolutely recommend this activity!

Great experience, well worth the money. We went for the 5pm tour with three people including my 72-year old mother who has a fear of heights. Booked it via Tripadvisor. Our group altogether was 20 people or so but we had 4 guides (it seems this is unusual and normal group sizes are smaller). There's a short (maybe 10min) walk up to a little introduction station and then the first zipline. It's rocky but totally manageable even for my mum. On the first zipline my mum went with a guide which was very helpful. After that she had no issue doing all the other ziplines by herself. Great views and a really nice experience!

Absolutely amazing experience, Best 3hrs Hiking and Ziplining on 8 different ziplines, English speaking guides are very friendly and helpful, take you through safety, putting on the equipment and the training line. Then off up the mountain to the first Zipline, the longest and the fastest. Stunning views all the way especially when going across the gorge over the river. We turned up on the day but booking online preferably during busier months. Parked in their carpark just up past their office. Toilet available at office too. Very Highly Recommend for the adrenaline rush.

A fantastic family experience in Omis! If you are looking for something different to do on holiday with spectacular views, I’d highly recommend this place. The guides (2 per group) are experienced and knowledgeable, they made the whole experience fun! You can go in tandem with the guides if the heights are too much for you. Top tips: take a back pack with snacks and water. Bring a clip on camera like a go pro) not a must but you’ll capture some beautiful views). Free parking in Omis for customers (dedicated area) so definitely don’t pay for parking.

The experience was amazing for the whole family! The instructors were knowing their profession, were relaxed, friendly and supportive. The view was magical! I am totally great full!
Διβόλης Α — Google review
Really good fun. Quite expensive, but in my opinion very much worth the money. The zipline tour takes 2-3 hours as you cross 8 wires. Some walking is required as you cross semi-rough terrain, but not too much. You travel as a group with 2 guides who make sure that everyone is enjoying themselves safely. Young children, typically cross with a guide while older children and adults travel by themselves. Both hands are generally required to operate the braking mechanism, so if you want to film PoV on the wire you will need a hands free camera. Regardless, exciting and spectacular views over the cetina river gorge.

The most perfect location if you wanted easy access to the beach. It is literally the nearest hotel from the Zlatni rat beach. Very friendly and professional staff. The housekeepers did an amazing job in making our room clean. The room was so nice and comfortable. The breakfast was good and to be honest it was the best food we ate in Brac 🤣

From the moment Micki checked us into our accomodation, we could not fault a thing. our air conditioner didn't work. we told the staff and they promised to look during the day while we are at the beach. when we came back from the beach they forgot so they were making it the whole time we were in the room. the first night we were without air conditioning, and the second in a room with masters. they then transferred us to another room only after the intervention of the manager. the staff said there were no available rooms even though there were more available on the booking. then on the last night we were transferred again to the third room because the second one was reserved. The hotel has potential, but with management work. it is not enough to offer the guest 0.2 dcl champagne as an excuse. someone took their time and paid for a vacation and that vacation looked like I described.

I just got back home and couldn’t resist writing this review right away. From the moment we booked, we felt completely taken care of. When we arrived, we were welcomed by Miki, Dusan, Katerina, Ognjen, and the rest of the team—each one radiating warmth and professionalism. This place is more than just a hotel. It’s a little world where you have everything you need—delicious meals from breakfast to dinner, a shop on site, live music at dinner, and views that honestly look like a postcard. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the staff. They catered to every need with a smile, even arranging a golf cart ride to and from our car (a small detail that made a big difference in the summer heat!). 💙 A heartfelt thank you to Miki for his kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care—he truly set the standard for what hospitality should feel like. And of course, a big shout-out to Dusan, Katerina, and Ognjen as well—their warmth and professionalism made our stay unforgettable 💙 If I could suggest one tiny improvement, it would be lighter short-sleeve uniforms for the staff in those hot 30–40°C summer days—they’d still look elegant, and it would make their work more comfortable.

From the moment we arrived at Zlatni Rat Beach Resort, we were completely captivated by its unbeatable location—just steps from the iconic Zlatni Rat Beach, with its crystal-clear waters and unique pebble shoreline. It truly doesn’t get better than this. The resort itself is thoughtfully designed for convenience and comfort. Parking is just seconds from the rooms, which are spotless, stylish, and equipped with everything you need for a relaxed and carefree stay. And the food? Absolutely exceeded my expectations. I’ll admit I was skeptical about hotel dining at first, but this is no ordinary hotel restaurant. It's a proper, high-quality restaurant connected to the resort—and honestly, one of the best around. I highly recommend trying the octopus salad—it's a standout dish. What truly made this stay exceptional, though, was the staff. Their warmth, humor, and dedication elevated our entire experience. At reception, Biljana, Dusan, and Miki were incredible—always available, helpful, and full of that genuine Balkan hospitality that makes you feel like family. In the restaurant, Josip, David, and Strahinja not only provided fantastic service but also brightened our days with laughter, generous touches, and spot-on recommendations. Honestly, it’s the people here who will bring me back. The building is beautiful, the beach is world-class, the food is delicious—but it’s the staff that made it unforgettable. If I had to find one downside? The mosquitoes—but even they couldn’t dampen such an amazing experience. PS: I read a review stating that there is a strong smell from the sewage which I did not feel as everything around us only smelled of lavenders, the sea and some great food.

The Saint Domnius Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of St. Duje, is a historic site in Split, Croatia. Built in 305 CE as the Mausoleum of Diocletian, it is considered one of the oldest Catholic cathedrals still in use within its original structure. The cathedral features a Romanesque bell tower and is located within Diocletian's Palace.
Very nice building with beautiful golden interior. If you are able to climb steep stairs I recommend to visit the tower (costs extra), the view gives you a complete overview over Split. Great!
Jens C — Google review
Absolutely stunning, this is a must see if you are in Croatia. I highly suggest taking a guided walking tour with an expert as there are so many aspects to this palace. You get a sense of feel of the history, the culture, the different times in the different centuries. This is a great place to visit for somebody who is into architecture, going back to the 15th and 16th century, where you can see the architectural influences going back into the generations, just based on the stones that were used in the different sections of the cathedral.
Stella M — Google review
We tried several times to get inside the cathedral, but to no avail. A female "gatekeeper" stood at the door, barring anyone she considered "tourists." If local authorities position the cathedral solely as a place of prayer and not a tourist attraction, then why include it in the list of tourist attractions? This division between "us" and "them" is irritating and depressing. The cathedral's bell tower is visible from everywhere in the Old City. It's ornate and impressive.
Game G — Google review
My Experience of the Cathedral of Split – A Journey Through History Visiting the Cathedral of Saint Domnius in Split was a truly unforgettable experience. Standing in the heart of Diocletian’s Palace, the cathedral is not just a building – it’s a powerful reminder of the layers of history that have shaped the city. To walk through a structure that was once the mausoleum of a Roman emperor and is now a Christian cathedral still in use today was deeply moving. The contrast between its ancient Roman architecture and its sacred Christian function made the experience feel both timeless and alive. Climbing the bell tower offered breathtaking views of Split and the Adriatic Sea, but what struck me most was the feeling of being surrounded by centuries of faith, art, and resilience. The carved wooden doors, the stone columns, the quiet atmosphere inside – everything spoke of a long and rich story that continues to this day. For me, the cathedral was the highlight of my visit to Split. It brought history to life in a way few places can. If you're seeking a place where the ancient and the spiritual meet, this cathedral is an experience not to be missed. ZazaPress

The oldest Catholic cathedral in the world (consecrated at the turn of the 7th century AD) that remains in use in its original structure, without near-complete renovation at a later date. The structure itself, built in AD 305 is the Mausoleum of Diocletian. The Cathedral of St. Domnius is a complex of a church, formed from an Imperial Roman mausoleum, with a bell tower. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and the bell tower to Saint Domnius. Together they form the Cathedral of St. Domnius.
Vadim S — Google review
Much smaller than I was expecting but then I learnt it was the Emperor's mausoleum before being repurposed in the 7th century. It is worth the visit and part of the multi-site ticket. Pity that too many large tour groups try to go into the small space at once. You need to buy the tickets from the ticket office on the other side of the square.
Simon R — Google review
I was very disappointed with the service I received. The staff member sold me the wrong ticket, and when I pointed it out, I calmly explained that I was even willing to pay the price difference for the correct one. Unfortunately, she said she couldn't refund me or charge me just the difference — instead, I would have to buy a whole new ticket. It felt like total disregard for the situation. There was no flexibility, no attempt to solve the issue, just a flat "no." This kind of attitude really takes away from the experience.
Patrick B — Google review
Little work to get up , if you have gone to the top of the Vatican it will be peanuts for you. It’s also less impressive, i didn’t like the guards at the entrance I find them rude , it’s also small but the courtyard is very interesting and you get a beautiful view of top

VIATOR tour on October 6, 2025. Guide was excellent and well informed local.. He willingly answered questions and kept the tour at a decent pace. He also gave updates on Game of Thrones film locations which was an added surprise. There are many stairs and walking can be a challenge. From the cruise port you can see the Palace structure. It is about a 20 minute walk. Follow the waters edge. We were rushed and had to take a cab at a ridiculous gouge of 20 Euro. We had lunch inside the palace walls. Very reasonable and good. We walked back to the cruise shop, no problem. The promenade (Riva) is filled with restaurants, …nice way to spend the afternoon. Recommend that VIATOR have an option of Adult +18, or a Family Tour. The children on our tour were highly distracting and uninterested in this historical tour, otherwise it was a very good 90 minutes.

Diocletian’s Palace is a fascinating glimpse into Split’s history and an absolute must-see. We were lucky enough to be staying right next to it, which made exploring the site incredibly easy. Hard to believe this was once the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s retirement home before the empire fell. The Roman influence is still strong throughout the complex, blending beautifully with the Croatian character that came later. The underground ruins are particularly intriguing, but watch your step—the stone stairs are smooth and can be slippery. Climbing the bell tower is another highlight. It’s a bit of a workout, but the panoramic views of Split from the top are breathtaking and well worth the effort. Throughout the palace grounds, you’ll find charming courtyards, little shops, and inviting cafés that make wandering through the area even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or just love exploring unique places, there’s plenty here to keep you captivated. If you’re visiting Split, make sure this is at the top of your list. Absolutely loved my visit to the Old Town Hall in Split, Croatia! This historic gem is a must-see for anyone exploring the city. The architecture is stunning, showcasing a beautiful blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles. The atmosphere is vibrant, with charming squares and lively cafes surrounding the hall. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, providing great insights into the history of the building and the city. Portofino delivered an exquisite evening. Excellent service topped by inspired culinary execution Hard to beat top ingredients rendered with profound technical skill, served graciously. A meal my family will remember for years. Make a reservation. The courtyard is scenic, airy and protected by massive umbrellas.

We spent a few hours exploring Split Old Town and were truly impressed. The heart of the city is Diocletian’s Palace, built in 305 AD, with its Roman temples, cathedral, and narrow alleys that now host lively cafés and restaurants. The mix of Roman remains and later Venetian architecture creates a unique atmosphere where history and daily life blend beautifully. The Old Town is full of charm, energy, and architectural treasures. The only drawback is the limited access to public toilets, usually paid (1 €). Still, it’s a must-see destination that leaves a lasting impression.

The Old Town Hall is beautiful. The area has many shops and restaurants. But most of the shops were not open on the weekends. I saw many shops that had items I wanted to purchase but couldn't because we were there on Saturday. However, almost all the restaurants in the Old Town Hall are open for business.

The Old Split Town Hall (Croatian: Stara gradska vijećnica) was built in 1443 as the city started growing and kept expanding outside the palace. It was built in Gothic style and later rebuilt in neo-Gothic style in 1890, retaining the triple arcade. During the Middle ages, it was the seat of government in Split. Between 1910 and 2005, it housed the ethnographic museum, but today the old town hall hosts exhibitions of works of art by the city’s painters as well as many events. The Old Town Hall is located on the Pjaca square (Narodni trg), right next to the Iron Gate of the Palace and the City Clock. It’s surrounded by many palaces belonging to noble families that used to live on the square around it.

Walking and entering most museums teaches you a lot about getting to know a bit more of Croatian culture from that time when they were very detail-oriented and methodical in what they did, and walking through all those hallways you see more artistic and cultural details.

Forest Park Marjan, located in Split, is a beloved natural oasis offering a serene escape from the city. With its lush pine forests, peaceful walking paths, and breathtaking viewpoints, it perfectly showcases the beauty of the Dalmatian coast. Whether you're into hiking, cycling, or simply admiring the scenic views, Marjan provides a harmonious blend of nature and urban life.
An absolute must-do while in Split if you’re able to walk up hundreds of steps! Loved the gorgeous trees while hiking up to the top of this mountain! Early June was quite hot, however there’s plenty of shade from the trees and a fountain for fresh water at the chapel (half way point) and there’s a lovely beach on the other side to cool you down. There seemed to be a road for those wanting to drive up as well. summer

What a place. Very steep slopes and many, many steps leading up. We were very presently surprised by a ditto train at the peak waiting to take people down to the old town. We hopped on that for the decent, saved a fair walk. If able, it's wonderful lots of nature, plants, and birds to see topped off with a stunning view at the top.plenty of stop breaks and places in the shade. Take a bottle of water with you.

A park worth to walk. Olease reserve drinking water and some snacks. Dista nces are not far, but You'll have up and downhill and it's demanding in heat of the sun. There are some water posts (at the old zoo etc.) and the water ia drinkable. There was a modern sightseeing tower and it was free to visit up! And there is a lift You can use, so it' s accessible by wheelchair and baby trolleys! Worth to visit!

Lovely views. A must do walk if you're on the island, especially as it's so close to Hvar town centre. There's a nice variety of Cacti on the walk, one of which was flowering.

Very nice concrete path up to the Spanish fortress with great views of Hvar port. Easy for kids to do - although not recommended for a post-swimming walk if yours are easily tired. 🙃 It’s in direct sun on late afternoon.

Pakleni Otoci

Island
Nature & Parks
Pakleni Otoci is an idyllic island located in Croatia. It is home to crystal-clear water and lush green forests, making it a perfect place to relax and spend time with friends. The island's many attractions include beautiful blue water caves, a wide variety of wildlife, and stunning beaches. There are also plenty of activities available on the island such as swimming, hiking, and kayaking.
We had a great onward speed boat ride (Blue Shark company). The blue water caves were wonderful. The return boat ride was too bumpy and the skipper would not reduce speed hoping it would make the ride enjoyable

10 years ago it was one of the nicest area of the part of the Adriatic. Today it is an overcrowded over priced area. Some bays looks like the Tokyo metro in rush hour. Prices are in the sky. Of course the Hvar is very near which is an exiting a beautiful town but overtourism is serious.

(Translated by Google) Croatia's paradise, right in front of Hvar. I recommend renting a private boat (it cost us €100 per day) to explore all the islands at your own pace. I especially recommend the Karma Beach and Palmizana area (both Palmizana Beach and Perna Beach, both are a). There are several bays where you can swim in turquoise, crystal-clear waters. Recomiendo especialmente la zona del Karma Beach y de Palmizana (tanto Palmizana Beach como Perna Beach, ambas de are a). Hay varias bahías donde bañarse en aguas turquesas y cristalinas.
