Nestled atop a hill and overlooking the Arabian Sea, Ratnadurga Fort is an impressive stone fortress built in 1670. This massive structure, shaped like a horseshoe and spanning 1300 meters in length, was once a stronghold of the Maratha Empire. Although it has seen better days, its remnants still tell tales of history while offering breathtaking views of sunsets over the sea.
Shree Bhagvati Devi Temple is situated on Ratna Durg fort only. It was a place not housing residences and shops unlike many other big forts. The fort was built as a big watch tower to trace enemy movements. It's a kind of bastion. It has a small periphery of about a kilometre to walk. It has a brief history of a temple built there and a maratha chieftain who controlled the fort.

Some what Horse shoe shape type fort has excellent sea view and good histrological background. Light house located at others side of the Fort. Mata Bhagwati Devi Mandir located near the entrance area. This fort is also known as Bhawati Fort. Water pond with stone wall still found in good condition. Neat , clean and Location is peaceful near Ratnagiri Maharashtra.
Rajendra D — Google review
It's a lovely place but needs some serious attention to make it wonderful place. The fort from inside can be maintained well to enhance the beauty. Can change an entry fee to maintain. The views from the fort are just lovely. Completely in awe of such views, no less than a foreign country. Public utilities like washroom and drinking water, seating benches or so can be set up.
Anuj D — Google review
Ratnadurg Fort’s history begins with its original construction during the Bahamani rule. Its strategic significance was cemented, however, after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured it from the Adilshahi in 1670. It served as a crucial Maratha naval stronghold for coastal defense and monitoring pirates. Structurally, the fort is unique for its distinctive horseshoe or semi-circular shape, spanning across a headland and flanked by the Arabian Sea on three sides. The massive complex is longitudinally divided into two main parts: the upper citadel (Balekilla) and the surrounding, lower fortifications (Parkot). The strong architectural defense utilizes durable laterite stone for its massive outer walls and multiple key bastions, like the formidable Rede Buruj. This construction was purposefully designed to withstand heavy monsoon waves and the relentless pounding of sea attacks, reflecting brilliant defensive engineering . Ratnadurg is also famously known as Bhagawati Fort because it enshrines the highly revered Bhagawati Temple within its premises. The complex’s largest modern landmark is the operational lighthouse, which stands atop the fort and offers stunning, panoramic views of the sea and the entire Ratnagiri shoreline. Today, Ratnadurg stands as a proud sentinel of the Konkan coast, blending centuries-old historical ruins with active pilgrimage and tourism. Its rich maritime legacy and breathtaking vistas confirm its importance as an indispensable historical and cultural landmark in Maharashtra.

One of the very few decent places to visit in ratnagari. There is limited parking on the hilltop. But the views are quite decent for a quick walk. Not much climb. Main gate recreated. Avoid any religious festival period to avoid crowds
Vikram — Google review
The most scenic and beautiful. Ch.Shivaji, the great Maratha warriors monuments and the forts build by him during his tenure. शिव सृष्टी !!

Ratnadurg Fort is located in Ratnagiri. The fort offers a beautiful view of the land and sea. The area around the fort is very beautiful and peaceful full of scenery.
Danish F — Google review
This historic fort, located in Ratnagiri, offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea from its 12th-century ramparts. While there is little historical information available onsite, the scenic views from the top are well worth the visit. A replica of the fort is reportedly being built at the base on the other side. The fort is a wonderful destination for those seeking unexpected peace and natural beauty. It's best to visit in the morning or evening to avoid the humidity. Ample parking is available.

Located in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, it is easily accessible from the city and boasts a long shoreline for leisurely walks. This Bhatye beach is perfect if you want to get away from the crowds. It’s much quieter than the busy beaches, making it a great spot to relax, read, or just enjoy the view. The sand is clean, the water is clear, and the whole place has a calm vibe. It feels like your own little peaceful spot. Great for picnics, walking along the shore, or just chilling. The views from the road of beach with trees is just a scenic view. Nearby the beach there is a small mountain with rocks that can be a good place for some good pictures. Definitely recommend if you want to escape the busy tourist areas!

Busiest yet serene beach in Ratnagiri. Recently when I visited this beach it was very unclean. You name anything and it was present on this beach as a part of garbage.

It’s a perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful walk, or just sit back and relax while watching the sunset. The beach has a very calm vibe and feels open and spacious, making it ideal for unwinding. Vishal S — Google review
Beach was beautiful as it was cleaned and popular among the tourists. In evening it was crowded and but still you can enjoy with kids on the beach. We visited twice once in evening and another in early morning. Morning time we had great fun as not much crowd and we enjoyed to the core. Water was cleaned and no stone patches in between we felt while swimming or playing inside the water. Multiple local stalls such as bhelpuri, sevpuri, coconut water, available to fill your stomach after the great enjoyment. Morning view and after sunset view becomes more amazing when you experience both. Beaches are simply fantastic to free your mind.
Yogesh C — Google review
The sense of solitude and calm was exactly what I needed to recharge my mind and spirit. Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat to reflect or simply yearning for a place to relax and connect with nature, this beach is a haven that promises a truly magical experience.

Wonderful place especially during mansoon season. Holy place for lord Shiva. Very devotional temple. There is huge crowd during shravan month.there are multiple waterfalls in this sahyadri mountain ranges
Anup D — Google review
There are 520 steps to climb to reach the cave temple. There a huge parking lot at the base of the steps. And a clean ladies & gents washroom near the entry gate. Lots of food & flower stalls all the way to the top. The Marleshwar waterfall clearly visible from the temple gallery. Temple closes by 7:30pm after which it gets very dark.
CA S — Google review
An divine place of lord shiva🐚🕉️ Must visit this temple in Shravan month as lots of devotees comes here. You will need to trek through steps. It’s an svayambhu shiv mandir inside an stone cave with only one entrance from which you will enter by bending. There is no light source inside cave only deep-jyoti makes light up this holy place. There are eternal vibes inside. Outside temple there’s big waterfall and multiple small water flows you can see. Be aware of monkeys.
Chaitanya M — Google review
I love this temple! Especially when you visit it during rainy season. The view with the waterfalls is breathtaking ! Inside the temple, there are no lights, its just the light of the lamps and the fragrance of the incense sticks which creates a serene atmosphere. Words fall short to describe it. You have to walk good amount of flight of stairs to reach to the top where the temple is. I visited the temple with my parents and siblings on a Monday morning but it wasn’t the month of Shravan so were lucky to skip the queue. Careful of the landslides and slippery surface/floor inside the temple!
Neha T — Google review
Shri Marleshwar Mahadev Mandir & Waterfall We visited Marleshwar Temple with our school friends during the monsoon, and it was truly one of the best experiences! The temple is located inside a natural cave, with oil lamps lighting up the sanctum, giving a very peaceful and divine atmosphere. Right in front of the temple flows the Marleshwar/Dhareshwar Waterfall – during the rains, it looks absolutely breathtaking. The surrounding green hills, mist, and the roar of the waterfall create an unforgettable moment. According to local history, the temple was established by Lord Parshuram and the Shivling here is self-manifested. There are also beliefs about cobras once residing in the cave, protecting the temple, and they are considered auspicious. ✨ What makes this place special is the perfect mix of **spiritual vibes and natural beauty**. The monsoon is the best time to visit, but the waterfall flows all year round, which is quite unique. ✔️ The climb has around 300–500 steps, but there are small stalls on the way for refreshments. ✔️ Be careful during monsoon as the steps can be slippery. ✔️ Please help in keeping the temple surroundings clean.
Viresh S — Google review
Marleshwar Temple is a beautiful spiritual spot surrounded by greenery and waterfalls, especially stunning in the monsoon. The cave temple of Lord Shiva gives a peaceful vibe. However, the long steps, limited facilities, and lack of cleanliness can be inconvenient. Best for those who love nature, spirituality, and adventure. MUST VISIT PLACE.✨✨✨✨✨✨
Shiv S — Google review
🌿 Marleshwar Temple – A Serene Cave Shrine Amidst the Sahyadris Nestled deep in the lush Sahyadri mountain ranges near Maral village, Marleshwar Temple is a hidden gem that beautifully combines spirituality with nature’s grandeur. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is set inside a natural cave, giving it a mystical and peaceful atmosphere. ✨ The Journey & Approach From Ratnagiri (about 65 km away), the drive winds through scenic ghats, dense greenery, and small Konkan villages. The last stretch involves climbing roughly 500–520 stone steps, so be prepared for a bit of a workout — but the views along the way make it worth it. 🏞 Surroundings & Highlights The temple is surrounded by countless small waterfalls during monsoon, earning the area the nickname “village of 100 waterfalls.” Just beside the temple flows the Dhareshwar Waterfall, which is especially breathtaking in the rainy season. The sound of cascading water blends with temple bells and chants, creating a truly meditative vibe. Inside the cave, the Shivling is simple yet powerful in its presence, with a constant trickle of water adding to the sacred feel. 🛕 Experience The cave is cool and dimly lit, with natural rock formations adding to its charm. The echo of prayers inside feels timeless. It’s less commercialized than many other shrines, so you can actually sit quietly and soak in the atmosphere. 🍲 Food & Local Touches A few small eateries in Maral village serve fresh vegetarian meals — simple but delicious. On the way, you can buy Kokum products, jackfruit chips, and other Konkan specialties at reasonable prices.

- Temple of lord shiva - We need to climb a lot of stairs to reach the temple (totally worth it) - There's an entry fee (minimal) - So many monkeys around - So many small waterfalls around in monsoon - It's clean and green. - weather is perfect - we can't take phones and torch inside the main temple - it's carved in a rock (similar to cave) - View is stunning of waterfall Har Har Mahadev 📿

Vijaydurg Fort

Mentioned on
1 list
Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Vijaydurg Fort, also known as Gheraia in ancient times, is a sprawling medieval fortress with a rich history and panoramic sea views. Originally built by the rulers of Bijapur and later reinforced by Chhatrapati Shivaji in the 17th century, this imposing monument has witnessed numerous wars and changed hands multiple times. Situated along the Sindhudurg coast, its strategic location surrounded by water on three sides made it difficult for enemies to attack.
One of the must visit places of konkan. The fort has hundred of years of history. You must visit fort from inside and take a boat ride around it as well. Also recommend to take a guide as you may not learn all the historically and architecturlly important aspects. The thought process behind building each and every part of the fort is just amazing. And just not things with in the fort but the underwater wall constructed to wreckage the British and portugeej ships which were having "V" shape bottoms. Don't forget to buy couple of books about the fort that you can buy right at entrance. There is a small but beautiful sand beach on south side of fort. Don't miss to visit that as well. On your way back try home cooked sea food in near by restaurants. There are only few options but you can enjoy the nice and fresh seafood. Also try to order in advance before you start your tour of fort.
Abhijit B — Google review
Vijaydurg Fort, located in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, is one of the most majestic sea forts on the Konkan coast. Often referred to as the "Eastern Gibraltar," this historic fort stands as a testimony to the maritime strength and architectural brilliance of the Maratha Empire. Built during the reign of Raja Bhoja II in the 12th century and later strengthened by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the 17th century, Vijaydurg is a blend of history, strategy, and natural beauty. Perched along the shimmering Arabian Sea, the fort is surrounded by water on three sides and thick walls that have withstood the test of time. Its strategic location once allowed it to control naval activity along the coast and defend against foreign invaders. The underwater trench around the fort, carved from solid rock, showcases the advanced military engineering of the era. Visitors to Vijaydurg are greeted with panoramic views of the sea, ancient bastions, hidden tunnels, and remnants of storerooms, temples, and barracks within the fort complex. A walk along the fort’s ramparts provides an unforgettable experience, especially during sunset when the golden hues reflect on the fort's aged stones. Local guides add value to the visit by sharing fascinating tales of Shivaji Maharaj’s naval exploits, especially the launch of India’s first naval dockyard near the fort. The peaceful surroundings, coupled with the historical ambiance, make Vijaydurg a must-visit for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and photographers. Reaching the fort is convenient via road from towns like Devgad and Malvan. The best time to visit is between October and March, when the weather is pleasant. In conclusion, Vijaydurg Fort is not just a monument but a living reminder of India’s glorious maritime history and Maratha valor. A truly enriching and awe-inspiring destination.

Land route to go, easy road, no tikets, excellent view, beautiful place you can do Gad-pradakshina carefully, need to be proper maintainince, in monsoon it's feel ligh a forest, Towers, fortifications collapsed, over all it's a wounder but need to be maintained properly Best time to visit in winter

A Fort that witnesses history of more than 500 years. A must visit place for every Indian. Mesmerising View of Sea 😍
Heavenly N — Google review
Vijaydurg Fort, known as the "Eastern Gibraltar," Spanning about 17 acres, Strategically located along the Waghotan Creek, creek allowed Maratha warships to anchor invisibly, while large enemy vessels could not navigate the shallow waters, providing a natural defensive advantage The fort’s massive laterite walls blend seamlessly into the rugged coastline, with some walls extending into the sea to absorb cannon fire
Shriraj A — Google review
Well preserved and strategically located fort which beautiful scenery all around including a scenic ocean drive.
Globe T — Google review
Vijaydurg Fort is one of the most powerful symbols of the Maratha naval legacy, standing proudly on the Konkan coast. Built with massive laterite stone walls and surrounded by the sea on three sides, it gives you a sense of how strategically brilliant and unshakable this fort once was. Walking through its sturdy gateways, hidden passageways, and bastions, you can almost imagine the naval battles and victories that earned it the name ‘Eastern Gibraltar.’ What makes Vijaydurg truly special is the atmosphere it’s raw, historic, and yet peaceful with the sound of the waves all around. From the ramparts, the views of the Arabian Sea are simply breathtaking, especially at sunset. Exploring this fort is not just about history, but about feeling the strength and vision of the Marathas who built it. A must-visit for anyone who loves forts, the sea, and stories of courage.

Beautiful Place and relaxing. Road connectivity is good. Maharaj Cave is really best place for worship. Staff is so helpful. Photo's are not allowed in some corners but it's acceptable. If you want to visit with government transport then you have to walk for 3 km from Bu stop. Temple complex full with artworks. You can even take a room here to spend night if you're getting late.

Extremely windy, and classic view.

We visited here on Saturday. It was a little crowded because of the weekend. Worth the visit, very pleasant atmosphere. They serve prasad ( dal, rice and sweet) after Pooja and aarti in the afternoon. There are many things to visit like Gagangiri Maharaj Math, Dhuni mandir, Mahadev mandir. Kanif nath samadhi. Keep enough time in hand to visit all places as they are not close to each other.

Beach Review: A Hidden Gem of Serenity and Natural Beauty This beach is a beautiful stretch of white sand, offering a sense of peace and quiet that’s hard to come by these days. It’s clean, serene, and uncrowded, making it perfect for those seeking a relaxing escape close to nature. The beach itself is quite long, with occasional rock patches breaking up the shoreline. While this uneven terrain makes it less ideal for swimming or water activities, it adds a certain rugged charm to the landscape. One of the unique highlights of this beach is the small pine forest that sits right along the shore. It provides a cool, shaded spot to rest and adds an almost surreal touch to the beach’s already scenic appeal. This isn’t the place for high-energy beach sports or commercial attractions—but if you’re looking for tranquility, scenic views, and a connection with nature, this beach is a quiet gem worth visiting.

One of the cleanest beaches i have ever seen. Yes it has boulders in water and also it goes too deep so quickly. So I don't recommend going into the sea. You can step in at your own risk. Instead i recommend Ratnagiri Beach for the same.

Great place to visit but it's a little crowded on the weekends so chances of seeing wildlife are less on weekends. You can see radhanagari backwaters and the view is just amazing. You should plan to visit around morning time so that some of the animals could be seen. A dense forest reserved for bisons. This place opens at 6 am in the morning. The best time to start the safari is 6 am to 10 am as animals come to drink water so we can see them easily. There are shekarus in the forest which is state animal of maharashtra. We went in may still there were lush green trees. We took a jeep for 10 people which costed us ₹2000 and each persons ticket was ₹ 50 Must visit once. This forest is well resereved. There are towers on the main site points which are good photogenic and view from there is amazing. The guids are nice. they try their best so that we can see the animals. Even if we dont see any animal the road journey in the jungle is worth it. It is a 4 to 5 hrs journy so bring your own water bottle, caps, goggles, some snacks etc.

The Rock Garden in Kolhapur is one of the most peaceful and well-maintained spots in the city. The surroundings are clean and calm, making it a perfect place to relax and spend quality time with family or friends. One of the highlights is the soothing sound of the waves from the nearby lake, which adds to the serene atmosphere. In the evenings, the garden looks even more beautiful with the cool breeze and scenic views, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and those seeking a quiet escape from the city’s hustle.

It was good to go in monsoon to enjoy beach with large waves. The ticket was ₹10. The nearby beach to rock Garden is chivla Beach. You can spend here time maximum 30 minutes. You can have it so many food items with different counters. Prefer to go in daytime in evening, you can’t see anything because lights are very dim.

Presently in a very bad shape. Kids park is all broken... Can hurt someone who uses. No lights are switched on even after sunset. People used phone lights to exit the park. There is an entry fee of rs 10 per person. Pay and park available outside. Can get a great view of sea from here.

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Sindhudurg Fort, located in Malvan, Maharashtra, is a 17th-century fortress accessible by ferry. The fort stands as a testament to the power of the Maratha empire and took around 30 years to be completed. Situated on a small island, it offers timed self-guided tours with sea views and is known for its historical significance. The fort's remarkable finesse and scenic location make it an enchanting attraction for tourists interested in India's rich history and historical monuments.
I visited this place with my mom last year, and despite the entry fees, the serene environment made it well worth the trip. The boat ride, however, is limited to 45 minutes, which can feel a bit rushed if you want to explore every nook and cranny of the fort. We did manage to visit the Shivaji temple, and the structure itself is truly incredible. If you're looking for peace and a glimpse into history, this place is definitely worth a visit!
Janhavi R — Google review
Sindhudurg Fort was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to secure from attacks thru sea. It is a wonder on the sea. To visit the fort, it needs travelling in boat. Boats are plenty. It takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hrs to see the fort from inside. Very good guides are available on main fort gate. They give complete info with related history. Apart from huge construction, Shri Shivaji Maharaj temple, his foot print & hand print on the rocks, water supply arrangements, buruj (protection wall), etc are the attractions. There are food joints, clean toilets, sign boards etc inside. Newly installed idol of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is there in the sea water nearby. Outside, there is big parking area. One has to buy ferry boat ticket and then go. Normally there is heavy rush here. We were fortunate to experience calm and quiet surroundings.

Sindhudurg Fort is a true gem of Maharashtra’s heritage, built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj right in the middle of the sea. The location itself is breathtaking — surrounded by blue waters, accessible by a short boat ride from Malvan. The fort’s massive stone walls, secret passages, and the temple dedicated to Shivaji Maharaj inside make it a fascinating experience for history lovers. You also get a stunning panoramic view of the Arabian Sea from the fort walls — perfect for photography. Don’t forget to explore the nearby Tarkarli beach and enjoy authentic Malvani seafood!
Sujit — Google review
Recently we visited this place. This is the one of the oldest monument and pride of Maharashtra buit by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It requires to go by boat which takes around 15-20 minutes and costs 100 rs per head. It takes around 2 hrs to visit whole fort. The fort is properly maintained and clean. Some temples, museums are also there. Washroom facility is provided which is very clean. You will get cold drinks and some food items stalls available there.

One of the many marvels of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Built is late 16th century. This island fort is an excellent work of engineering for the those days. Also has fresh water well inside it literally while being inside the sea.

We got the Opportunity to feel the legendary Maratha king's part of life through Sindhu Durg fort. We were honoured to see the Tulja Sword of Maharaj. Please take help from the guide to understand historical details of the fort. They stay there and are the descendants of Maratha soliders who fought for us. Every rupees paid to them was worth. They deserve our respect for carrying on the Maratha legacy. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai!

Tsunami Island, located in Malvan, is accessible by a boat ride from Korjai jetty. Despite its name, the island has no connection to a tsunami and is primarily a marketing attraction. The shallow islet serves as an avian hangout for seagulls, stilts, and sandpipers. Visitors can enjoy various water sports such as kayaking and observe the clear and shallow waters with fish swimming around.
Tsunami Island is a hidden gem located near Devbagh Beach in Malvan, Maharashtra. Visitors can indulge in jet skiing, banana boat rides, bumper rides, kayaking, parasailing, and even scuba diving, making it a paradise for adventure enthusiasts. The island's unique feature is its sand, which is believed to have magnetic properties that may help alleviate joint pains when massaged on the body. The best time to visit is during low tide when the island is fully visible, providing ample space for relaxation and activities. A fantastic destination to explore! If you’ve ever wanted to witness the magic of low and high tides up close, this is the perfect spot. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce your kids to the breathtaking wonders of nature—they’ll be amazed! However, while the food options are tempting, they may not meet the highest hygiene standards, so plan accordingly.

Nature’s Bliss to the Village A totally unique island, can’t get any better. The watersports here are totally safe. You get to try a wide variety of water sports, such as banana ride, kayaking, speed boat. Recommendation: Do kayaking for sure (30 mins) and if you’re choosing ride - get the 700rs PP package (it’s totally worth it) Everything is safe as the depth of the water is not much.
Sankett M — Google review
Visiting this island was the best part of my entire Malvan trip. The boat ride gives you chills when it's high tides. Though the island will completely go underwater during high tide but watching the river and the sea interwine, is the best part. The view is brilliant and marvellous. You can see seagulls here too but they are here only during a particular season I think in somewhere around (March to April) if I'm not wrong. But overall, Amazingggg! 🌊🏞️♥️

This Island is located 📍 in Malvan and the place is called as Island 🏝️ because it's 200meter away from the main beach ⛱️ and during high time this Island submerge in the water 🌊. The people of Malvan make a living out of this, they have their shops here of breakfast 🍳 water and various water activities. People do Kayaking over here and you can also enjoy some hot 🔥 Vada pav (obviously they charge you a bit over and above the normal price). You can come here by boat ⛵ they will drop you here and you can enjoy doing activities and everything and you can make a phone call to the boat guy again he will come back to pick you up.

Nice place to visit for water sports. This place was automatically created after sunami in 2004. After research in 2006 they name this place as sunami Island. This place is 5 different types of sands. This place then will get popular for water sports. Many small stalls for snacks is available. This place would be underwater for 6 hours and would dry for 6 hours. People will enjoy playing inside water.

Amboli Water Falls

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Amboli Water Falls, located in the Shayadri hills of Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, is a popular destination during the monsoon season. The waterfall, resembling Dudhsagar waterfall, is surrounded by lush green forests and offers a picturesque view. However, it can get crowded during holidays and weekends, with traffic jams on the highway being common. Visitors are advised to be cautious during the monsoon due to potential landslides.
Amboli waterfalls are a delight during monsoon period. Though there is the MAIN Amboli waterfall, the entire route is dotted with number of waterfalls to get mesmerized. During peak monsoon you also get to enjoy thick cloud cover. After the rains the entire valley comes alive with water jetting out from several places. It has become a big attraction and has become quite crowded in recent years. Hence, if you really want to enjoy the bounty of nature then you should visit the place early in the morning. During monsoon, as the place comes alive, many road site eateries also come into being selling tea, coffe, maggie, sweet corns, fritter (pakora) etc. As the day progresses getting parking space becomes a challenge. Their are police men trying to maintain the smooth flow of traffic and restricting people to park on the side of the road. Government has come up with a toilet complex which is a great boon for the visitors. It rains heavely and rain wear is highly recommended. I also strongly suggest to carry extra clothing as the excitement pulls people to get soaked under the waterfall(s). Amboli is a must visit place during monsoon.
Rohit G — Google review
We visited Amboil Waterfalls ,it looked really beautiful and peaceful. The sound of the flowing water and the surrounding greenery made the place very relaxing. On the way to Amboli, we could see lots of small waterfalls, which made the journey even more scenic. The route is a bit rough, but the view is totally worth it.

One of the very famous waterfall…. Very crowded…. But you will definitely get refreshed here…. Suggest to visit on weekdays & avoid to visit on Saturday, Sunday & Holidays as parking place is not sufficient & road are very narrow due to ghat
Sandeep G — Google review
During monsoon, you can see the waterfall in all its glory. However, it's difficult to find parking due to a lot of people visiting. It's better to visit on a weekday to avoid the traffic.
Shreya S — Google review
Amboli Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful spots in the Western Ghats, especially during the monsoon. The waterfall is majestic, the greenery all around is breathtaking, and the cool mist in the air makes the whole experience refreshing. 🌿💧 However, one big concern is cleanliness on the roadside and surrounding areas. Many tourists leave behind plastic bottles, food wrappers, and garbage, which spoils the natural beauty. The local authorities and visitors both need to be more responsible to maintain the charm of this place. If you visit, do enjoy the stunning waterfall but please carry your trash back and help keep the environment clean. 🙏 👉 Overall: A must-visit natural wonder in monsoon, but cleanliness is a serious challenge due to careless tourists.
Rahul P — Google review
Very thrilling and beautiful place specifically in Rainey days. Unforgettable and wondering ghat place. Smoggy, water sprinkling, there is no words for its stunning looks. But very rush and have to wear rainkot or jackets and must take food with you.

Visited Amboli Waterfall recently and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The waterfall is breathtaking, especially during the monsoon when it’s at its peak flow. The lush greenery all around adds to the charm, making it a perfect escape into nature.

Known for its lively flea market, hippie culture, and exciting nightlife, Arambol Beach also provides opportunities for adventure sports like paragliding and kitesurfing.
I really enjoyed my time at Arambol Beach in North Goa. It’s a peaceful and beautiful place with silver sand and some rocks. The beach is very green and relaxing. On weekends, I visited a busy market. If you like adventure, you can try paragliding. I also visited Paliem Lake at the end of the beach, which was really pretty. The Banyan Tree nearby is famous because The Beatles once meditated there. I would love to go back someday.

Visitors can enjoy various activities, including paragliding, dolphin watching, swimming, and visiting the local market. Arambol, located in the northernmost stretch before Querim Beach, is North Goa’s bohemian heartland, celebrated for its unique, laid-back vibe and arts scene. The main beach boasts a vast, golden stretch of sand with gentle slopes and negligible currents, making it exceptionally safe for swimming. It’s framed by low cliffs and lush greenery, providing a truly picturesque coastal escape. The beach's main draw lies just north: a picturesque path leads over the cliff to Kalacha Beach and the Arambol Sweet Water Lake. This shallow freshwater lagoon, fed by natural hot springs, sits right beside the Arabian Sea, offering a tranquil place to swim or enjoy therapeutic mud baths. The adjacent jungle trail also leads to the famous Banyan Tree, a hub for meditation and spiritual gatherings. Arambol comes alive with a thriving, upbeat culture, featuring daily sunset drum circles, lively markets, and numerous yoga retreats. The best time to immerse yourself in this atmosphere is from November to March, when the weather is cool and pleasant for outdoor activities, live music, and exploring the makeshift artisan stalls. This destination caters perfectly to backpackers, artists, and wellness seekers looking for an authentic, alternative Goan experience away from commercialized crowds. It is an ideal spot to relax, explore nature, and partake in unique community gatherings, distinguishing it from other nearby beaches.

Arambol Beach is more than just a destination—it’s an experience. Whether you're dancing at sunset, meditating by the lake, or sipping chai with fellow travelers, it offers a soulful escape from the ordinary. be it morning, noon or evening - food on the beach is the best. just be sure you don't engage with the walking vendors - they will sell you 20Rs items for 200Rs.😆

Tucked between lush hills and the golden sands of Arambol Beach, the Sweet Water Lake is one of Goa’s most magical hidden gems. Surrounded by swaying coconut trees and a peaceful forest vibe, it’s the perfect spot for a quiet swim or just to float and unwind. The water is calm, clean, and surprisingly warm — with a gentle mix of fresh spring water flowing in. The walk to the lake from the beach is a mini adventure through rocky paths and quirky local stalls, which adds to its offbeat charm. Unlike crowded beaches, the lake offers a more relaxed, almost spiritual atmosphere. You’ll often find travelers doing yoga, meditating, or simply soaking in the calm — it’s a true escape from the usual tourist buzz. Rating: 5/5 💧 Clean, warm freshwater 🌴 Surrounded by nature 🚶‍♀️ Scenic walk to reach 🧘‍♀️ Perfect for peace, yoga, and floating therapy 📸 Highly Instagrammable
Reeta S — Google review
While this beach is fantastic, it has now become too crowded thanks to Instagram. Loads of uncles and staring boys. Not so couple friendly anymore.
Anshu K — Google review
Arambol beach is not as good as people say online. I visited Arambol Beach in July during the monsoon after seeing so many good reviews. But honestly, it was very disappointing. The beach is way up north, so it takes a long time to reach if you’re staying in Candolim area or Central Goa. The road to the beach is also in bad condition, full of potholes. For a state that depends so much on tourism, decent roads is a minimum requirement. They charge 100 rupees for car parking. I don’t mind paying, but the parking area should be proper. It was not well maintained at all. When I reached the beach, I was shocked. It was dirty. There were plastic bottles and trash. Tourists should act more responsibly, but it also seems like the local municipality doesn’t maintain it at all. Don’t trust the online reviews blindly. Not worth visiting this beach.

Chapora Fort

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Ruined centuries-old fortress on a headland, a popular vantage point for sunsets over the sea.
Chapora Fort – A Must-Visit Sunset Spot in Goa Chapora Fort is best places to visit in Goa. Perched atop a scenic hill, it offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the beach and the vast ocean below. Whether you’re a nature lover or just looking to unwind, this spot delivers pure magic. We reached in time to catch the sunset, and it was absolutely stunning—the sky painted in warm hues, the waves shimmering below, and the cool breeze wrapping it all together. It’s the kind of view that stays with you. Do note: the fort closes by 5 PM, so plan your visit accordingly to soak in the sunset from the top. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience Goa’s natural beauty from a peaceful, elevated viewpoint.

The coastal defence planning, particularly at an estuary (a place where a river enters the sea) from the 14th to 15th century onwards, called for the construction of a fort. Such a fort not only offered protection to the coastal areas, but more importantly, it also insulated inland areas from enemy attacks by denying the enemy inland entry through the river. Based on the same doctrine, Chapora Fort is strategically located on a high hill feature on the southern bank of the Chapora estuary. Fort has an all-around clear view from its commanding height. The complete hillside and the fort are surrounded by lush greenery and look beautiful. The view from the fort is simply amazing. For the fort, full marks for its scenic beauty and the amazing 360-degree view it offers of the surroundings. What is wrong is the neglect by the civic authorities. Signage giving direction to the fort and to the parking areas is woefully inadequate. Parking areas need better management. At the fort itself, the Signage, the information boards are totally faded and can not be read. Fort also needs to be provided with strategically located small gazebo-like shelters where visitors can relax in the shade or be protected from the rain.

Ruins of the fort, calm and beautiful with a great view of the ocean. It can be maintained and cledned a bit more properly. Rest it is all famous for that dil chahta hai pose where that picture can be clicked. Overall a good place to hang out and chill in calmness and silence. Have a very small hike of 5 mins and you're there.

Great fort with very less people. There is not much to see in the terms of the fort in my opinion, but the view is really amazing. It's one of the highest places that can be easily climbed through a few flights of stairs. Nothing much to do other than just look around
Samarth N — Google review
Beautiful place with a picturesque view of a Arabian Sea. This beach is hardly 2 kms from Chapora Fort. You have to walk uphill to this fort but in the way various small juice shops having chairs are there where you can rest and go. Paid parking available. Prices at the shops here are more or less same as other street shops in Goa. After parking your vehicle, drink one coconut water and then proceed for the fort climb as it really gives you energy.
Shalini P — Google review
Chapora Fort offers a decent viewpoint after a short climb of around 50–70 steps. The view from the top is quite scenic, especially if you enjoy nature and open landscapes. However, the condition of the fort itself is very poor. Most of the walls are either collapsed or in ruins, and there’s been almost no maintenance, which is disappointing for such a historic site. A helpful tip: carry a water bottle with you. The climb, though not very long, can be tiring, especially in the heat. Staying hydrated is important. Despite the lack of upkeep at the fort, our visit was made special by a lovely local lady (Aai). She was incredibly sweet and welcoming. She offered us freshly made limbu pani (lemonade) and genuinely asked about our well-being. It was a heartwarming moment and the highlight of our visit. If you’re visiting Chapora Fort, don’t miss stopping by Aai’s small refreshment stall. It’s a simple but memorable experience that adds a touch of local warmth to the trip.

Also known as the "Dil Chahta Hai" Fort, it is famous for filming the widely popular movie "Dil Chahta Hai". The Fort itself is in ruins but provides breath-taking views of Vagator and Ozran beaches. You have to hike for 120 steps to reach the fort, but the climb is completely worth it. Enjoy amazing views and sit and chill with your friends, family or loved ones. The sunset views from the top of the fort are amazing. Entry is completely free and there are no tickets. However, you have to pay 30 INR for parking your scooters. Parking is available for cars as well.
Tirthankar D — Google review
I visited Chapora Fort with two other friends, just like in the film, and it was a memorable experience! The key thing to note is that there is no fort now, only ruins are there. What remains are the strong, laterite walls and a large open space on the hill top. The journey up requires you to climb the steps to reach the ruins of the fort. The real attraction that makes the visit worthwhile is the sea view—it is absolutely stunning. You get a clear, panoramic vista overlooking Vagator and Morjim beaches and the entire Chapora River estuary meeting the Arabian Sea. I highly recommend visiting in the evening so you can watch the sunset as well. If you can watch it, it will be a wonderful experience and absolutely worth visiting. There are small shops at the base that offer water and other refreshment drinks, but, like every other tourist place, they felt a little bit overpriced. Go for the view and the nostalgia, and you won't be disappointed!

Great beach to enjoy a peaceful evening and stunning sunset views. The waves come very close to the shore, which makes it scenic but not very safe for swimming. Best time to visit is during pleasant weather, as it’s not recommended in the monsoon due to strong tides. Perfect for sunset photography, relaxing walks, and soaking in the coastal vibes.
Hardik V — Google review
I recently visited this beach with the hope of enjoying a relaxing day by the sea, but unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing for several reasons. The beach feels extremely congested. The number of shacks, restaurants, and bars set up right along the shoreline leaves very little open space to actually enjoy the beach or its views. There's hardly any breathing room, and it’s difficult to find a peaceful spot to sit and relax. It seems like every inch of the beach is commercialized, which seriously takes away from the natural charm and openness you'd typically expect at a beach. Another downside was the constant pestering from locals trying to sell water sports activities. While it's understandable that water sports are a part of the beach economy, it becomes frustrating when you’re approached every few minutes, even after politely declining. It really disrupts the peace and makes it hard to enjoy your time. Most of the restaurants and beach shacks are quite overpriced, especially for the quality and portion size offered. Even basic refreshments or snacks are charged at premium rates, which seems to be targeting tourists rather than offering fair value. If you're planning to spend a day here, be prepared for high prices without necessarily getting a premium experience.

I went to Anjuna beach early morning and evening. I would say if you need less crowd and play in water it’s better to go in the early morning around 6.30Am and If you need good music and enjoy drinks then go in the evening!

Anjuna Beach has a unique charm — a perfect blend of rocky coastline, calm vibes, and bohemian culture. It’s the ideal spot if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the busier beaches in Goa.

Take the main road and not the roads which goes from the village. We almost got lost out in nowhere the Google maps can be wrong in such a place. So take the road which are used by most peoples. The beach was very pretty. Saw the most beautiful sunset.

Not a clean beach. Other beaches like Calangute are better. Baga is also good but too much of crowd. These are all in North Goa
Archana K — Google review
Rocky choppy waters. Very Less crowded compared to Baga. Avoid Speed boat Ride there which is a loot. Be careful going to the beach from Baga or Calangute if you are drunk. Police check point near Anjuna police station which is marked up in the map. Pay attention to where you park or may have to take a long walk . Good location for photo shoots.

Great beach on the North Goa coastline, just after the Baga beach & before Candolim beach. Calangute beach is a clean beach with amazing vast sea view.🤩 Sea is here active with continuous waves🌊 pounding on beach shore. Same goes with visitors, its always buzzing. Beach is guaranteed to give you the Goa feel & magic that one would have imagine. You will find people of all age groups enjoying sea splash, the view, playing with sand & their food & drink on Shacks 🏖️. Yes the beauty of the North Goa beaches is that the sea & your boozy / soft drink 🍾🥤& yums 🌯are at your reach right on the beach. Shacks are lined up against the sea to give both views of serenity & party. Coast guards are placed at intervals to ensure safety & avoid deep intrusion in the sea. Evening time is the best time to visit this beach & it has got everything for all for your peaceful & pleasant time. As it gets dark, coast guards start to vacate the visitors away from sea. Found this to be well managed, maintained, safe beach. Car parking area is available on the approach road on right side 🚗.

In September this beach is quite empty but that's the plus point as it becomes so peaceful and beautiful. Nice breeze and very much clean. Yuy can spend more time with you sitting at the shore. Very less people come to visit this beach ⛱️ as water sports activities are closed. So if you need some peace, you can definately come to visit.

One of the best and most happening beaches in Goa — definitely a highlight of North Goa. Calangute Beach offers a complete mix of fun, adventure, and local charm. All major water sports like jet ski rides, banana boating, parasailing, and speed boating are available here, and the rates are quite standardized and well controlled by local authorities. Trained lifeguards are always on duty, which adds to the feeling of safety. There are plenty of food and drink options — from beach shacks serving Goan seafood to juice stalls and cafés nearby. The beach also has areas marked for bathing, although the state-provided bathing section is not very clean and can be better maintained. Parking is available near the main entrance, and reaching the beach is easy from any part of North Goa. It gets crowded during weekends and evenings, but that’s part of its charm. Overall, a fun place to spend half a day — ideal for families, couples, and adventure lovers alike! 🌴🌊

Additionally, the beach area is home to various attractions such as art stores, cozy cafes serving Goan flavors, and a renowned casino for those seeking nightlife entertainment.
We visited two different locations of the Miramar beach and the first one that has a park entry is the prettier and cleaner one. The beach is shallow so very very kid friendly. Very scenic, clean and beautiful 😻

It's often overlooked, which is rather convenient given its location. The vibe is fantastic, particularly during the sunset, drawing in mostly well-behaved and local individuals and families who enjoy having picnic gatherings there. However, one thing missing is adequate seating arrangements.
Preetham C — Google review
Excellent beach. One of the best in Goa. Goa is a land of beaches. Among the several beaches in Goa, Miramar is unique as it has a very vast shore with pure white sand. The beach is very clean. There are lots of tourists all the time but evenings have big crowds. But there is ample parking facility there. Evening is the best time for you as the shore will get a golden hue. It is a great experience to walk on the sand till early night when the shore at last gets deserted and the shore and the sea become dark.

It is the dirtiest beach of Goa on Panjim peninsula at the delta mouth of Mandovi river. Bathing or entering in sea is not recommended, specially in low tide. However it can be scenic at sunset . Good if you are only at Panjim for short time. Otherwise there are far better beaches in Goa all along north to south coast line. Go to this beach when you have no time for others.
MF A — Google review
Miramar Beach, located just 3 km from Panaji, is often called the "Golden Beach" due to its soft, silvery-gold sand. Originally named Porta de Gaspar Dias by the Portuguese, the name Miramar translates to "to look at the sea." This two-kilometer stretch is famous as the confluence point where the Mandovi River merges with the Arabian Sea, offering a tranquil urban escape. The beach provides scenic views that distinguish it from other Goan shores, most notably a clear vista of the historic Fort Aguada standing across the river. It serves as an ideal spot for peaceful morning strolls, leisurely family picnics, and, during the winter season (October to March), for birdwatching as migratory birds like gulls and plovers arrive. While primarily known for its relaxed atmosphere, visitors can enjoy activities like jet skiing, parasailing, and dolphin spotting boat trips. Its proximity to the capital city provides easy access to nearby attractions like the Goa Science Centre and Panaji's various dining and shopping options, making it a perfect blend of city convenience and coastal serenity.
Rizwan U — Google review
Miramar Beach, located just a few kilometers from Panaji, the capital of Goa, offers a different kind of beach experience compared to the more bustling and tourist-heavy spots. It's a beach that locals frequent for a relaxed evening stroll, and for visitors, it provides a peaceful and scenic escape. Here’s a detailed review of what you can expect: The Ambiance: Miramar is known for its serene and calm atmosphere. The beach boasts a long, 2 km stretch of fine, silvery-golden sand lined with palm trees. It's a great spot to simply unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the sea. One of its most striking features is the magnificent view of Fort Aguada across the river, which adds a historical and picturesque backdrop to the landscape. This is also where the Mandovi River meets the Arabian Sea, creating a unique coastal environment. Activities and Attractions: While Miramar isn't as focused on a party scene as some other Goan beaches, it offers a good mix of activities. * Relaxation: The primary draw is the opportunity to relax, take a leisurely walk along the shore, and watch the spectacular sunsets. The gentle waves make it suitable for swimming, I have noted concerns about cleanliness in certain areas. * Water Sports: For those seeking a bit of adventure, you can find a handful of water sports activities, including jet skiing, parasailing, and banana boat rides. Dolphin sighting trips are also a popular offering here. * Nearby Sights: Its proximity to Panaji means you can easily explore other attractions. The Goa Science Centre, Reis Magos Fort, and the charming Latin Quarter of Fontainhas are all within easy reach. The beach is also a great place for birdwatching, especially during the winter when migratory birds flock to the area. Food and Facilities: Miramar is less developed with shacks and souvenir shops compared to more touristy beaches. You'll find a few local vendors selling snacks, ice cream, and souvenirs. For more substantial dining, there are a number of restaurants and eateries in the vicinity, particularly in Panaji. Some luxury resorts like the Marriott Resort are also nearby, offering dining and bar options. What to Keep in Mind: * Crowds: While generally peaceful, the beach can get quite crowded in the evenings and on weekends, as it's a popular spot for locals. * Cleanliness: I have expressed concerns about littering and the overall cleanliness of the beach, so it's good to manage expectations. * Transport: Being close to Panaji, it's easily accessible by rickshaws or taxis. Overall: Miramar Beach is the perfect choice for travelers who want to escape the crowds and enjoy a more relaxed Goan experience. It's an ideal spot for couples seeking a romantic sunset, families looking for a calm environment, or anyone who simply wants to enjoy a peaceful walk on the beach. Its scenic beauty and proximity to the state capital make it a convenient and worthwhile destination.

The Basilica of Bom Jesus, completed in 1605, is a stunning Baroque Catholic church located in Goa. It is home to the tomb of Saint Francis Xavier, making it a significant pilgrimage site for Christians. The church's exquisite baroque designs attract visitors with an appreciation for architectural beauty.
The Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa is one of the most remarkable heritage sites I have ever visited. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it holds immense historical, architectural, and spiritual significance. Built in 1594, this Baroque-style church is over 400 years old and houses the sacred, preserved mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, making it one of the most revered pilgrimage spots for Christians worldwide. The architecture is breathtaking – from the intricate façade to the high vaulted ceilings and beautifully carved altars, every detail reflects the grandeur of Portuguese craftsmanship. Inside, the calm and serene atmosphere immediately fills you with peace. The silver casket of St. Francis Xavier is awe-inspiring, and during the decennial exposition, thousands of devotees come from across the world to pay their respects. Apart from its religious significance, the church is also a treasure for history and art lovers. The walls adorned with frescoes, the elaborate gilded altars, and the rich wooden carvings are worth admiring. The museum within the complex also gives a deep insight into Goa’s colonial past and Christian art. Practical tips: The basilica can get crowded, especially on weekends and during feast days, so mornings are the best time to visit if you want a quieter experience. Modest dressing is advisable since it’s a place of worship. Entry is free, and photography is allowed in most areas, but it’s best to be respectful. Overall, the Basilica of Bom Jesus is not just a church but a living piece of history that blends faith, culture, and architecture beautifully. A must-visit for anyone exploring Goa.

From what I’ve read and seen in pictures, it’s one of India’s oldest churches, built in the 16th century, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Portuguese baroque architecture looks stunning, especially the simple yet elegant white exterior and the intricate interiors with gilded altars. I’ve also read that it houses the silver casket of St. Francis Xavier, which attracts pilgrims from all over, and the adjoining art gallery adds a nice cultural touch. It was sad to see a fabulous historical and architectural monument so poorly maintained. I tried to buy a ticket for the light and sound show they have in the crypt but the ladies there only wanted cash and that too the exact change. So, I had to drop the idea. In a country where even the neighbourhood veggie cart takes digital payment, this seemed odd. A religious site could have even offered me (a single person) to go gratis, but that was not to happen.

Additionally, visitors can savor a Goan buffet lunch included in the entrance fee or explore nearby restaurants for authentic local cuisine.
One of the best and most interesting places I have visited in Goa! If you love nature, plants, spices then this place is a must! We had a really nice and knowledgeable tour guide explaining and showing us everything. She answered to all our questions and was really delighted to show us around. After the tour in the "garden" we had a big buffet with really nice food. Also we could buy home made stuff and spices there, which was awesome for us tourists

They have their own store for selling spices and some byproducts. Considering the charges, veg food was not up to the mark.

Spent the afternoon at this beautiful farm, and it was nothing short of magical. The wooden bridge over the creek was so beautiful. We were surrounded by nature, and enjoyed an incredible buffet made by the locals and an insightful and informative guided tour that brought the stories of all spices to life. It was truly an authentic experience, peaceful, grounding, and full of charm. The perfect escape from the usual. Highly recommend!

A beautiful spot in Goa that everyone should experience! I visited with my family on October 4th, 2025. The entry fee was ₹500 per person, which included a decent buffet lunch with fish and chicken dishes. Truly worth it for the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.

An awesome revelation of how the spice, herb and other tropical plants and trees are grown. We were welcomed with a fabulous ready drink Solkadhi, a soothing, digestive drink made from kokum and were even offered lunch upon our reluctant leaving of the plantation. Overwhelmed at the counter which had plenty of seeds to sell thankfully, since I wasn't going to leave without them either.

Best spot for family visit. Food is unlimited and tasty. Both Veg and Nonveg options available. Staff is very cooperative and gave nice information about all the spices plants they have.

Wonderful experience at this scenic plantation. Although it is a 100 acre private property, we tour a small part of it with a guide that teaches us the therapeutic, cooking properties of the various plants grown there. We’re also served a welcome refreshing hot clear tea at entry followed by a varied sumptuous lunch buffet prior to the tour. The entry fee of Rs. 500 is worth it. There is a small shop at the site where you can purchase fragrant oils, pure Feni, and spices. Highly recommend visiting this spot if you’re a nature lover, spice enthusiast, or just looking for something other than beaches in Goa.

Really enjoyed this trip today, recommended to us by our taxi driver whilst on holiday. We travelled a 4hr round trip to experience it and dont consider the time wasted at all. The guide was excellent, very informative with excellent English. The location is stunning. The entry included a meal which we both found was exceptional, my wife is very fussy and vegetarian and she had 2 servings. Would highly recommend it to anybody that wants to experience something unique.

Sahakari Spice Farm, located in the Ponda area of Goa, is a sprawling 130-acre plantation that grows an array of spices, herbs, and trees. Visitors can immerse themselves in the aromatic experience by plucking and tasting pepper, sampling the world's hottest chillies - Peri Peri, enjoying an elephant shower, and indulging in a traditional Goan lunch prepared with farm-fresh spices.
They sadly don’t have elephants anymore (I read online about it and was looking forward to introducing my toddler to them but the forest department took them away a couple years ago). Regardless we had a great time overall. Tour guide, Lucy, was amazing. Fresh lunch was delicious. Great, reasonably priced herbal products to buy from their store .

Very beautiful farm and one of a kind experience if you are visiting for first time. They welcome you with flowers and then serve you a welcome drink. Then you have a option of having lunch or going on a tour of farm. Lunch was home like and tasty. They served both veg and non veg food. It is a buffet. Then on tour they explain you all about the different spices and condiments they grow in the farm and their benefits. At last they pour a mixture of some herbs with water on your back to relieve your fatigue. Overall a great experience.

If you like being around nature and love the knowledge of trees, plants and spices you must visit this Spice Farm. The entry fee was only Rs. 500/- per head which includes a tour guide and a lunch buffet. The welcome to the farm was with a shower of flower petals and a small glass of Lemon Grass tea which has many health benefits. The tour guide is available in Hindi, English and Konkani languages. Our tour guide Saiksha who gave us a tour in English was very sweet, polite and knowledgeable. The tour of the plantation is for about 25 to 30 minutes and is a walking tour. Post that they refresh you with herbal cold water on your back to soothe and calm you. They also give you 15ml of Fenni a local goan alcohol made from the Cashew fruit. You can then sit down for your lavish spread of authentic local cuisine. There is ample of parking space available here and it's better to come in early when it's cooler and has less crowd.

What an amazing experience for the eyes and the tummy… the guided tour was very informative and while it is a large plantation a quick 30 minute walk around the key areas was good to get a feel for this place… the food both veg, non veg including seafood was soooooo tasty… The staff kind, knowledgeable and genuinely trying to give everyone a good time. No Regrets and must visit…

I went here on my birthday — and man, that turned out to be such a great decision! The food was absolutely amazing, and our guide was both knowledgeable and super nice, with just the right touch of sarcasm that made the tour fun and engaging. Everyone we met was incredibly kind. We were actually the first ones to arrive that day, and they welcomed us with flower petals and a warm cup of lemongrass tea infused with cardamom and ginger — such a lovely start! And can I say it again? The food was AMAZING. They served it in earthen pots — not sure if it’s cooked in them too, but either way, it was delicious 😬

It’s a spice plantation & agro-tourism venture located in Curti, Ponda, Goa. The farm occupies around 130 acres and has been developed into a tourist spot where visitors can see how various spices and crops grow naturally. The farm not only grows spices (like pepper, cardamom, nutmeg etc) but also fruit trees, medicinal herbs and practices eco-friendly farming methods. The experience includes a guided tour of the plantation and a traditional Goan meal (buffet style). They have both veg and non-veg options.

Visiting the spice farm is definitely worth it. It's a privately owned farm spread over 130 acres, though only 2–3 acres are accessible to visitors. The guided tour is informative, offering great insights into various spices, their Ayurvedic benefits, and how to identify fake products often sold in the market. The entry fee is INR 500 per person, which includes a guided tour, farm visit, and lunch. The food was delicious, healthy, and they even offer Jain/Swaminarayan options, making it completely vegetarian-friendly. Since the farm is located away from North Goa, it's best to go by car for convenience.

🌿 An Absolutely Wonderful Experience at the Sahakari Spice Farm, Goa! My visit to this spice farm was one of the most memorable experiences of my Goa trip! The place is absolutely wonderful — peaceful, green, and filled with the aroma of nature. Our journey started at 8:30 AM from Panaji, and after navigating through Google Maps, we reached the farm around 9:45 AM. We were the first visitors of the day and were warmly welcomed with a refreshing cup of organic herbal green tea, made from freshly grown spices. Soon after, a guide escorted us through the farm, explaining in detail about the different species of spices, their lifespans, when they start producing yield, and the climatic conditions required for their growth. We also learned about various organic farming techniques used to enhance spice production. Though I forgot his name, I truly admire him for his amazing knowledge, communication skills, and humble nature — he made the tour so engaging! The farm tour lasted about an hour, surrounded by lush greenery, the sound of flowing water, and the soothing scent of spices — it was an absolute delight for the senses. After the tour, we followed a traditional ritual where a blend of two organic oils was applied to our back — said to relieve tiredness, and it truly worked! Then came a chance to taste Feni, Goa’s traditional alcohol made from cashew fruit — like a desi version of tequila! Next, we moved to the dining area for an unlimited Goan buffet, and honestly, it exceeded all expectations — especially for just ₹500 per person! There were around 10–12 vegetarian options and 3 non-vegetarian dishes, along with starters, desserts, and drinks. The flavors were authentic and delicious — finally, I got to taste the real Goan cuisine I’d been searching for throughout my trip. We ended the visit by exploring the farm shop, where we purchased some authentic spices and oils. Prices were slightly on the higher side, but considering they are pure and organic, it’s completely worth it. After relaxing for a while and capturing some photos amidst the beautiful greenery, we headed back to our hotel, completely refreshed and satisfied. 🌴 Overall, this spice farm is a must-visit place for anyone exploring Goa! It’s educational, relaxing, and offers a perfect mix of nature, culture, and cuisine. Highly recommended!

Shree Shantadurga Temple, built in the early 1730s, is a grand Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Shantadurga. Situated at the foothill of Kavlem village in Ponda Taluka, it is one of the largest and most important temples in Goa. The temple houses deities of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu amidst a distinctive six-storeyed deepstambha and ratha with gilt work.
One of the most peaceful and divine temples in Goa! The architecture is stunning, with a beautiful mix of Goan and Portuguese styles. The temple surroundings are very clean and well-maintained. The atmosphere is calm, spiritual, and perfect for prayer or just quiet reflection. It’s a great place to experience traditional Goan Hindu culture. I loved the serene vibes, and the view from the temple steps was also beautiful. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Goa – not just for devotees but also for those who enjoy heritage and peaceful spots. 🙏✨

This temple is a hidden gem in Goa, offering a peaceful respite from the more bustling tourist areas. As one of the oldest temples in the state, it has a rich history and spiritual significance. The temple is situated in a beautiful, natural setting, away from the main roads and crowds. The serene ambiance is enhanced by the lush greenery and tranquil atmosphere. Inside the temple, you can find the deities of Durga Mata and Lakshmi Narayana, adding to the spiritual experience. While the roads leading to the temple may be a bit more remote, the journey is well worth it to discover this peaceful and historic place of worship. I highly recommend visiting this temple for those seeking a authentic, spiritual experience in Goa.

Beautiful experience. We witnessed Makarotsav during Navaratri. The temple premises is large with the temple beautifully constructed in the unique Goan architectural style. There is Anna dasohama (free food service by the temple) and a canteen where you can buy paid food. Also, the sarees offered by pilgrims/ devotees to the diety are sold / auctioned at very low prices which you can buy here.

Ensure dress code. vendors outside the temple selling Nariyal, Banana, Mala (Offering to God) at Rs 150/- which is much higher. Further you can go temple without this (offering). Temple provide lot of peace.

Kadamba Shri Mahadeva Temple, Tambdisurla is a 12th-century Hindu temple located in the serene surroundings of the Bhagwan Mahavir wildlife sanctuary. This architectural marvel is constructed without any binding between stones, maintaining cool interiors even in scorching temperatures. Believed to be the oldest shrine in Goa, it showcases Kadamba-Yadava architecture and is a significant attraction.
This is a fascinating destination for nature lovers, history lovers and the adventurers. As also those who are religious(primarily hindus) since they worship God in this temple. This monument has been declared to be of national importance. The journey to this location situated in the Mollem wildlife Sanctuary was breathtakingly beautiful with lush forests on both sides of the road. The road which connnects from the main road to the location was well maintained and was a pleasure to drive on. We started off from Mapusa and proceeded to Valpoi via Bicholim, proceeeded to Honda and took a right turn at Cotorem untill we reached a junction where we took a left turn. From here the temple is about 15 km. The road is straight and simple. The road is being widened at certain areas. If you continue going right for another 7 kms you ll reach Bondla Park and Zoo. It took us about 90 minutes or so to reach this destination. A charge of Rs 10 per person is charged by the Panchayat at the Mollem Sanctuary checkpost to take care of the Garbage as per their receipt. On the way there were ample opportunities to click beautiful pics with mother Nature. Upon arrival you are greeted with the locals selling fresh flowers to offer to the temple diety for 30 Rs a bunch. (Wrapped by a large leaf) an eco-sensitive move. There are a couple of eateries which serve you lime soda, softdrinks etc. Along with mirchi pav, kaapa, maggi noodles etc. There is a small bridge built over the stream and after a brief walk (100m) leads to the main temple arena. Chilled and hygienic drinking water is available. There is toilet facility. Car parking is ample but on weekends it could get a little crowded. In one corner of the area there this beautiful tree with Pajakta flowers(parijat) also known as night jasmine. It made a pretty sight. There is provision to light incense sticks. The structure of the temple is made up of Basalt rock and has multiple carvings which has been detailed by the ASI(Goa circle) in its information board at the entrance. This place would be worth visiting during rains however no swimming is permitted which can lead to fatalities. A warning board is seen to that effect. We were lucky to see small animals such as the cute monkeys who eat from your hand, monitor lizards and mongooses. we also saw a school, a health centre and a car workshop in this area. Looks like things are developing in this area. All in all this temple is a masterpiece of a carving dated to 12th or 13th sanctuary. While in Goa, put this destination on your travel list!

A very mystical temple with strong vibes. Situated in bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary the drive itself to the temple is serene. The temple is from 13th century and is maintained by ASI. Very neatly maintained lawn n garden. The forest area, river and the less crowd makes this an offbeat experiance. Must visit if you are in Goa.

Located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer wildlife sanctuary in Goa, Tamdi Surla Mahadev temple or Kadamba Shri Mahadev temple is a 13th century Kadamba dynasty temple. Legend say, Pandavas had built this temple even earlier to this period when the queen of Kadamba dynasty rebuilt this temple again. The temple is located in dense forest along the river Surla and has a beautiful Kadamba style architecture. Temple is very devine and has a spiritual aura with a beautiful carvings. Post temple visit, pls do try the snaks from the locals outside the temple. They are lip smacking..!

My Experience at Tambdi Surla Temple Visiting the Tambdi Surla Mahadev Temple was a truly enchanting experience — a perfect blend of spirituality, history, and nature. Hidden deep within the lush forests of the Western Ghats, the temple felt like a timeless treasure untouched by the modern world. As I walked along the narrow path surrounded by towering trees and the soothing sound of a flowing stream, I could already sense the sacred energy of the place. The moment I saw the temple, I was mesmerized. Built entirely out of black basalt stone, every inch of it is adorned with intricate carvings that tell ancient stories of devotion and craftsmanship. The cool stone walls and the soft fragrance of incense inside the sanctum created a divine peace that’s hard to describe in words. The sight of the Shiva Lingam and the majestic Nandi facing it filled me with a deep sense of reverence. What struck me most was the serene silence all around — broken only by the chirping of birds and the rustle of leaves. It’s amazing to think that this 12th-century temple has stood strong through centuries, protected by nature itself. Tambdi Surla is not just a temple; it’s an experience of divine calm, architectural brilliance, and natural beauty all woven into one. It reminded me that spirituality often resides in the quietest, most hidden corners of the world.

One of best and peaceful place . The temple is small but the architecture was very old which tells a lot of history. Temple is located middle of the forest the road was good you can easily reach the temple no need to walk. It's better take one vechile or rental cars . Public transport is also available but only 1 time from Panjim to tamde surla that reaches 2:30 pm and will back After 2:30 again to Panjim . From madgaon also you'll get but you have to change 2 more bus . Madgoan to ponda to mollem from mollem you have to take bike on rental ( piolet) they will charge 250/- per person . Beside the temple there is small channal is there and the water is very clean looks like filter water . Temple was very neatly maintained . From temple arround 1km there was a water fall is also there but when we visited in that time it was closed due to some reason. In front of temple limited snacks shops are available the taste is very good. Overall my opinion is very good place visit with your family and friends.

This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is at the end of an offbeat road in Tambdisurla, Goa. You have to take a detour of around 20 Kms from the main Panaji Belgavi highway and you drive down winding roads between lush green forest on both sides. You find an occasional stream flowing which makes it even more serene. The temple is built in the late Chalukya and Hoysala architecture. There is a Shivalinga inside the sanctum and pooja is still offered here. Opens at 9.00am in the morning and closes at 5.30 pm in the evening.

Mahadev Temple at Tambdi Surla, is that of the Kadamba style, dated 13th Cent. It is reminiscent of the temples at Aihole Karnataka. This temple was built with Basalt, carried here from the Deccan plateau. It is perhaps the only Kadamba architecture made in Basalt. It survived all types of invasions due to it being located deep in the forests at the foot of the western ghats. Just our floundering luck, of being unable to see the inside of this Mahadev temple. First the premises were locked and after being opened for us to troop in, the temple was not accessible , since the priest wasn't there. I personally loved the serenity the place.
