Nature & Parks
Great Forest Park, also known as the lungs of Debrecen, is a vast green oasis offering a peaceful escape with its tree-filled landscapes, lake with fountains, and woodland walks. It's an ideal spot for leisurely strolls, picnics, and various sports activities. The park is home to the University of Debrecen, botanical gardens, and even a thermal bath for relaxation. Visitors can easily reach it by tram from the city center or train station.
Went in June to this place, lovely around, surprisingly good urban garden, for a walk or go off grid and enjoy nature. Suitable for kids playground and adult chilling’ .
TheYstyy — Google review
Peaceful woodland park, with a small lake, lots if forest trails to explore, fish & ducks along with a small amphitheater and some statues dotted around. Located nearby the university campus. Busy on the weekends with families and students. Wonderful spot with fresh air and greenery.
Joe M — Google review
In my opinion this is the best part of Debrecen. In one park you have everything you can imagine- aqua park, shops, restaurants, tower, zoo and university. Picturesque park to walk around with a pond that has amazing fishes and turtles. Access is easy but not so much parking. We were lucky to find a place to park in the underground parking garage.
Andrea C — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful. It’s family friendly too.
Amanda M — Google review
Such an amazing park! Landscaped to perfection and very well looked after! It was nice having a stroll around, but many people and locals were also sitting on benches and on the grass. In fact, there were so many people just on a mid-of-week spring late afternoon. Would definitely recommend a walk in the area when in Debrecen.
Giulia — Google review
Perfect park I have seen. It's like an matryoshka, one park within the other, side by the forest and closer to the university! Relaxing & enjoying the sunshine, watching the fishes, ducks and fountains! It's also a park near the concert place!
Şebnem S — Google review
If you visit Debrecen you must visit this park. It's just beautiful, calm, relaxing but full of People. You can go during the morning or during the night, it's alawasy beautiful! The most beautiful part of Debrecen is that it's full of nature, from the airport till this beautiful park. Enjoy!

Spas & Wellness
Spas
Aqua Palace is a vast spa complex featuring outdoor pools, thermal baths, waterslides, and wading pools for children. The indoor aquapark offers numerous warm water pools with constant water massages and various slides suitable for different age groups. Additionally, there are kids' playgrounds by the pools and a spacious well-equipped section for children on the upper level. The facility also includes clean changing rooms, well-maintained toilets, and dining options such as a cafe and cafeteria.
A very nice spa, perfect for a family vacation. There are several pools, each with a different theme. At the first floor, there are pools for baby's as well as a trambuline area. The water is heated, except for the water slides area. Tickets: after 4 pm you pay less for the entrance.
Chis A — Google review
Outside water park, water is quite cold. It’s annoying if you want to take kids to the slides you have to pay another fee similar to the regular entrance. Inside pools this year 2025 looks like not that clean than in previous years, a bit moldy.
Tudor B — Google review
We bought tickets and paid extra for seats "on the shore". We swam in the water with the whole family. Our daughter dived and so on. After half an hour, we saw a piece of human defecation in the pool. Literally. No one paid attention to it. It was hard to find the workers. We contacted the lifeguard. After another 20 minutes, guys with shovels came and took it out. We did not receive a refund or an apology from the establishment. We swam in defecation for 50 euros. Horrible!!!
Татьяна Б — Google review
A great place to spend a few days relaxing and having fun. They shoul build more indoor pools with bigger adult slides to attract more people. But for me was a great experience there. Friendly staff and somme of them speak english so thats a big plus. It's cheap and great. Also indoors you can buy food and drinks. Worth every penny.
Andre A — Google review
Great place to relax with the kids. Not cheap at all but 1-2 days worth visiting. Kids place upstairs with slides and chill area.
Alice V — Google review
I have to say I did not know what to expect from this place, and i have been positively surprised on how nicely this place was organized. For someone coming outside of Hungary the prices were pretty good but I think for the locals the prices can be on the higher side. The place offers a food restaurant and a small caffee both are really nice . There is a nice food selecton in the restaurant food standards are pretty much the same as you'll find across Hungary so I do not want to compare it with with what I am used to overall the selection is nice everyone will find something for themselves. I got to say the aquapalace staff were the first people I met on my couple day trip who managed to communicate with me in English so thats another big advantage of the place. Other refreshments are also offered typical tea coffee cold drinks but also beers and spirits. Pools were fantastic overall everything was super clean water seemed fresh of course its thermal and mineral water so it has for example specific smell and look but you could tell the pools were clean considering the amount of tourists and users in genral this is a big achievement from the organisational point of view. I've been in minter so I can only talk about the indoor pools. The one negative side were the saunas since you pay extra for those i was really expecting something more extra but found only the steam sauna and classical roman sauna to be operational. Really hoped for something extra like salt or mineral saunas. Everything is nicely organised with the locker facilities unfortunately they do not offer robes rental these are only available for the guests of their hotel so keep that in mind yeah from my side the place is really a 5 star and I highly recommend it as long as you don't expect god knows what from such a place like some people in the reviews 😉
Adrian — Google review
The best place in this area. Very nice beach / spa and the aquapark and of course have so many outdoor pool.

Hungarospa Thermal Hotel

Mentioned on
10 lists
Hotel
Spas & Wellness
Hungarospa Thermal Hotel is a casual hotel located within a spa complex, offering simple yet comfortable rooms. The hotel features both indoor and outdoor pools, tennis facilities, and a bar for guests to enjoy. Situated in an enormous spa area, it is known as one of the largest in Europe. Guests can expect friendly staff and traditional cuisine served at the on-site restaurant. Additionally, the hotel offers access to specialized consultations and treatments.
Great place, rooms average but no major pain points, good food unfortunately limited number of English speaking personnel making simple requests a chat with Google translate :) but it was fun in its own way.
John S — Google review
There is nice hotel with local bath as well as the access to the big area of bathes and water pools. The breakfasts and dinners are good, food is delicious. The room is nice, comfortable beds, good shower and a toilet, spacious balcony. Some negative points: - the servant tried to provide us with dirty napkins which is disgusting; - the servants clean the tables just during our sitting there and eating which is unprofessional; - after some days of our stay, the canalisation was broken and the hotel had no water during a day, after that our room was smelling like a sheet and it was really unhealthy and inappropriate; - the shower cabin is extremely small
Margarita S — Google review
No shiny luxury hotel but splendid in any other thinkable way. The venue is midsd an enormous spa area, probably the largest in Europe. In winter, all rooms, and access corridors including cocktail bar allow walking in bath robe. Very friendly staff, especially at the restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner offer an authentic traditional menu, usually slow cooked. One ground floor corridor provides access to dozens of specialised consultations and specialised treatments. The inside spa area offers a special immersed spine treatment. When clear sky in winter, check out the stars in the outside pool after 18h. Wheelchair friendly parking and building access. Wheelchair friendly rooms can be found on the first floor. And one more thing: a new thermal jazuzzi is under construction, likely going in production from 2025 onwards.
Freddy V — Google review
For a 3* hotel room is very good! Service is nice as well. The food....OMG...Tasty and Delicious 😋🤤...I really want to go back!
Alex P — Google review
The service personnel was really friendly, the thermal water is the best that I had ever experienced. The room had some problems, but was acceptable. The dinner was really good. Some people are not go under the shower before going to the pool, but it is mandatory to get really clean to the pool to get a clean water. There where plenty of health services, like massage, hydrotherapy, etc, and the price is not really expensive, so everibody can afford it. Don't by the AQUA PALACE pass, only, if You would swim with hundreds of people together in little pools. For kids this is a good place, but for a couple definitely NOT!
Péter L — Google review
The hotel was fine for 3 stars but not 3+ for sure. Certainly not recommended for families traveling with babies or small children; they don't really have the facilities to make you feel like home. With older kids it is totally fine. The food is pretty delicious and they offer a big variety however not the best if you have any kind of food allergy or if you are vegan. The big plus is that you can use the open air bath and the Aqua Palace as well for free if you stay here.
Herta O — Google review
Clean, fine cousine, kind staff, great chance to visit the Aquapalace (fee included). The pools of the hotel are not allowed for kids.
Krisztián H — Google review

Nyíregyháza Animal Park, Sóstó Zoo

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Nyíregyháza Animal Park, also known as Sóstó Zoo, is a modern and vibrant zoo that serves as both an educational center and a delightful destination for animal lovers. Home to over 500 species from around the globe, this park offers visitors the chance to witness unique Hungarian treasures like the Mangalica pig, grey cattle, and Hortobágy racka sheep.
Huge place so make sure you have more than enough time to spend here. If you want to check everything it will take a lot of time. Last time I was there with a friend group and several of them had to take a rest since they got too tired of walking. I would suggest planning with 5-6 hours so you don't have to rush and have enough time to enjoy the whole park and atmosphere 😉
Sava E — Google review
The best zoo in the country. :) i just give 4 stars because there is always room for improvement, some older parts of the park seem a bit abandoned, and the direction signs are sometimes a bit confusing. I bought tickets online in advance so there was no wait, we were inside in two minutes. Once or twice a year they have special days when the entrance fees are very cheap for adults, but they do have some discounts for families all year round. If you want to stay for multiple days, there are 3 hotels that are directly connected to the zoopark. If you want to see everything thoroughly you would definitely need more than one day. Last time we were there from 10am to 4pm but kinda just rushed through all the animal houses and did not visit all areas outside. The polar bears are still cute but growing up fast. :) The new voliere for flamingos and other birds is very nice, it was not yet done the last time we were visiting.
Ildi B — Google review
Visited the zoo during the autumn break. I got a special discount (only HUF 3000), but I think it’s still best to visit during warmer months with a full-price ticket for the complete experience. For example, the days are shorter in autumn, so you have less time to explore. The zoo is HUGE, so make sure you come prepared. There are also several rides for children that I believe only operate during the summer. For anyone worried that the zoo might be a pity place for the animals: I know some scientists working here who study animal behavior and run conservation projects, so visiting isn’t something to feel guilty about. In fact, by visiting, we somehow support the zoo’s scientific and conservation efforts. It’s also a very good place for children to introduce animals, where they came from and their conservation status in the wild. Teach them to protect the environment to keep these cutie animals live happily in their natural habitat. There’s an affordable kürtőskalács near the exit gate (HUF 1100), so make sure to check it out. Also, for anyone wondering about transportation: it’s best to get off at Sóstó train station and walk to the zoo, because the intercity bus only comes once every 40–60 minutes.
Lisa A — Google review
Fantastic place! Very well organized and plenty of animals and space. There are many places where you can eat and drink refreshments. Plenty of restrooms areas. It's a wonderful zoo, highly recommend 😍👍❤️.
Kay V — Google review
Nyiregyhaza zoo is excellent — a great place for a family day out. There are plenty of restaurants and food options, so it’s easy to grab a meal or snack during your visit. The zoo also offers convenient bus rides with additional cost around the grounds, which makes getting from one area to another much easier. Facilities are well maintained, with clean toilets available throughout. Another big plus is the free car parking, which makes the whole experience hassle-free. Overall, it’s a well organised and enjoyable zoo worth visiting.
Dr. F — Google review
Awesome place to spend a family day. There are plenty animals to admire, make sure you don't skip the seal show ( twice a day ) and the polar bear feeding. The twin cubs are funny and very cute. Highly recommens if you are passing by.
Alice V — Google review
Great experience with many facilities with more space and freedom for the animals and more opportunities for guests to get closer to the animals. Unfortunately, nobody could see the main attraction at the time which was the biggest reason we visited. The tickets were pricey but it’s common at other zoos.
Kamilla S — Google review
We loved the place. Although it was a little bit crowded at the entrance, as we walked in everything changed. We really felt like we were in the middle of nature. There are animals from all over the world. They all have a lot of space. The place is clean and well taken care of. The only downside was the restaurant, cause the service was really, but really slow!

Lake Tisza Ökocentrum

Zoo
Nature & Parks
Aquariums
Large freshwater aquarium & eco-center with native Hungarian fish, zoo, 3D cinema & panoramic views.
A great place to discover the nature and wildlife of Lake Tisza. The largest freshwater aquarium in Europe, interactive exhibitions, and plenty of activities for both children and adults. Very interesting, educational, and well worth a visit.
Daniel K — Google review
It has a huge aquarium eith traditional species from the river and also an outside zoo with mostly rescued animals. The infrastructure is very nice and new, there are many exhibitions also inside. Nice viewpoint feom the tower you can see very far in clean weather conditions. There is a traditional house from the rural Hungary, with a very nice old lady and many old accesories of the daily life a hundred years ago. One of the biggest problem is the staff because some of them were arrogant and unfriendly. Not everyone speak english unfortunately. I think they must improve this. And another thing: we found some plastic trash near to the animal cages outside which is not acceptable in an ecocenter.
Balázs S — Google review
the aquarium and the place are beautiful, worth seeing. unfortunately all the magic was ruined by the terrible service of the food place next to it.we witnessed terrible behavior and ignorance, foreigners asked about food and help with translating the menu, the girl with long black hair was terribly rude, pointed at the menu and walked away. furthermore, both ladies (the blonde and the one with long black hair) smoke cigarettes right at the entrance to their food stand, they don't wash their hands after smoking and serving food. a sanitary inspection would be useful, and a conversation with the management About these ladies, I don't want to believe that this is a one-off case of their rude behavior. with this behavior they discourage people and visitors from coming back. It's awful, it's embarrassing to listen to and see such behavior from people who work in restaurants.

Nestled in the heart of Hungary's stunning natural landscapes, the Lake Tisza Ecocentre offers an immersive experience that nature lovers and families will cherish. This fabulous destination is not just a visit; it’s an expedition into the heart of the "Hungarian Delta," where the biodiversity and natural beauty are simply breathtaking. From the moment you step in, the Ecocentre promises a comprehensive journey through the region's flora and fauna. I highly recommend opting for the all-inclusive ticket, which opens up a world of experiences. It's the best way to ensure you don't miss out on anything, from the educational yet thrilling 3D movie that vividly illustrates the unique ecosystem of the area to the engaging interactive exhibits that both children and adults will find fascinating. A highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the boat excursion on Tisza. This peaceful and scenic ride allows you to glide through serene waters, surrounded by lush greenery and an abundance of wildlife. It's an excellent opportunity to unwind and soak in the natural beauty of the Hungarian Delta, making it a perfect activity for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike. The staff at Lake Tisza Ecocentre are warm and welcoming, equipped with knowledge about the local environment, and always ready to help you make the most of your visit. Their guided tours are insightful, adding depth to the already enriching exhibits. With activities and exhibits that cater to all ages, Lake Tisza Ecocentre is a must-visit for anyone looking to connect with nature and learn about environmental conservation in a fun and engaging way. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this place promises a day full of discovery and enjoyment. Don’t miss this gem during your Hungarian travels!

If you’re not with kids and not interested in visiting the playground, the entry fee seems a bit high. The 3D movie is great, definitely worths to watch.

What a great experience!! The center was built around 10 years ago, it includes an impressive still water aquarium with sturgeons, a 3d movie theatre, an observation towers, some playgrounds for children... You can also do a tour in a boat to see the natural life of the lake. Very much recommended. Boat and 3d movies are at an extra cost, but great to do!

St. Elisabeth's Cathedral

Mentioned on

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
St. Elisabeth's Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the country, was built over a span of two centuries and can accommodate over 5,000 people. Despite enduring numerous natural disasters such as fires, sieges, earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes throughout its history, it remains a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with artistic paintings. Situated in Kosice's historic city center, this cathedral is renowned for its unique features including a double spiral staircase and the altar of St.
Majestic Gothic cathedral and the largest church in Slovakia. For 3€ (March 2025) you can climb the narrow spiral stairs (more than 150 steps) to the bell tower for a great view of the city.
Claudiu F — Google review
We visited here from New Zealand and came to this tower with a cousin. The steps up were pretty exciting and I felt like Indiana Jones 😆. Some people though might find it a bit claustrophobic because everything is very narrow. It was cool seeing the big bell roughly around the middle tower and then climbing to the top and getting a 360 degree view of Košice city centre. My favourite part was being able to ring the ball at the top and even though it wasn’t insanely big it still made so much noise. My family in the park close by could hear it when we rang it. There was a wire mesh that was there for our safety but also made it a bit annoying to look and take photos. At the end climbing down we had to call a phone number because the door was always locked and a person came and unlocked it, but they told us that it would probably happen so it’s not like they forgot about us or something don’t worry. Anyways, loved the great views and the climb was fun. Ringing the bell was the best part.
Tobias — Google review
This is one of the most fascinating churches I have ever seen! You can buy a ticket and climb the old staircase, visit the Rákoczy crypt and climb the church tower which offers spectacular views of the city centre. There is also a holy mass several times a day.
Pozde P — Google review
I visited St. Elisabeth's Cathedral with my wife, who is Slovakian, and our son. Whilst admiring how impressive this building is I often forget, or don't appreciate, that this cathedral was built in 1378 to honour St. Elisabeth of Hungary. Many of the people in this region are deeply affect by Košice becoming part of Czechoslovakia in 1918 and then Slovak Republic in 1993.
Mark G — Google review
A place where you connect the old architecture with new modern architecture… an old building next a new one… old narrow road connecting new streets… a place where you want to spend time in … then you have the main street with cafes and restaurants along both sides..
S. M — Google review
An outstandingly beautiful Gothic cathedral, right in the center of Kosice. It is the largest cathedral in Slovakia and it can be visited for free. For €3 you can visit the cathedral bell tower, which is a steep and narrow climb that starts outside of the main entrance to the cathedral.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review
St. Elisabeth Cathedral is a breathtaking masterpiece of Gothic architecture and the crown jewel of Košice. What makes the experience truly magical is the way sunlight filters through the stained-glass windows, casting vibrant colors across the stone walls and floor. The interplay of light and shadow creates a peaceful, almost sacred atmosphere that invites reflection. It's a must-see for anyone visiting the city!

The Singing Fountain in Kosice is a captivating water feature located in the heart of the city. It offers a mesmerizing display of dancing jets, music, and colorful illuminations, creating a magical spectacle that captivates both locals and visitors. The fountain performs every hour, choreographing its water show to the pulse of bells from St. Elizabeth's Cathedral or popular music like The Beatles.
The Singing Fountain in Košice is a beautiful and relaxing spot. The colorful lights and water synchronized with music create a magical atmosphere, especially at night. A must-see in the city!
Misha S — Google review
Lovely show, it seems to keep going all evening! Nice selection of quite random songs too, all a bit of fun.

A stunning fountain both in the day and at night, when the lights start about 6pm. So lovely to just sit and listen to the music with the mesmirising water. Also seeing families and children enjoy it so much.

In Košice, the Singing Fountain on Hlavná Street is such a nice spot — perfect for summer refreshment and good times. I spent so much time here with Tomi: the water jets, music, playful energy, kids everywhere, just full of life and positivity. The fountain isn’t just beautiful, it’s fun: we’d sit nearby, relax, watch the show, hear laughter, and feel the city breathe. Interesting fact: The Singing Fountain was built in 1986, making it the oldest “singing fountain” in the former Czechoslovakia.

The singing fountain is a great water-feature, complete with a light-show and musical background. Unfortunately it doesn't always work and there's no published schedule. We weren't lucky enough to see the light show.

Diósgyőr Castle, located at the foot of the Bukk Mountains just 8 kilometers from Miskolc, is a reconstructed medieval fortress that offers a captivating journey into Hungary's medieval history. The castle boasts interactive exhibits and an arena for jousts and reenactments, providing visitors with an immersive experience. Its picturesque setting amidst lush forests adds to its allure, making it a historical gem worth exploring.
Beautiful castle with an incredible feel. What made this worth the visit was the professional tour guide who played the part in traditional Knight costume. He delivered a knowledgeable brief passionately and answered questions thoroughly. Great day out! Looking forward to visiting when the jousting and other entertainment is on in the future!

Diósgyőr Castle looks stunning and majestic even from the outside. Unfortunately, it's not possible to go inside at the moment due to ongoing renovations. Still, I believe once it's fully restored, it will be an absolute gem!

If you're in the Miskolc area this is definitely worth a visit. It's one of the nicest castles I've seen in Hungary; this medieval castle was a favourite holiday residence of Hungarian kings and queens. The castle was renovated between April 2012 and 2014 and instead of a historic castle ruin, visitors can now visit an old, remodeled castle. The castle features a special feature of informal cognition; the visitors can experience the atmosphere of the medieval castle freely, trying all of the things. In addition to the interactive content, reenactors dressed in timeless outfits, as well as spaces on the ground floor that showcase everyday life, contribute to the atmosphere. As a quick reference for the origin of the name: Dió means walnut, referring to the abundant walnut trees in the area. Győr is an archaic version of the word gyűrű, meaning "ring". It probably refers to the rounded shape of the first castle erected on the hill. The first castle was probably built in the 12th century, but destroyed during the Mongol invasion. The castle that stands today was most likely erected in the times of King Béla IV, in the 13th century. The castle had its prime during the reign of Louis I (Louis the Great). In 1364 the nearby town Miskolc was annexed to the Diósgyőr estate. Diósgyőr lost some of its importance when the political union between Hungary and Poland ended. In 1596, the Ottomans occupied the area; Diósgyőr remained under Turkish occupation, ruled by the Pasha of Eger until 1687, when this part of the country was freed from Turkish rule. By this time the castle lost all of its military importance.

We visited during a reenactment, and it was a blast. The schedule we found of events was not followed that I could tell, and with the children under four, that can be a challenge. The food was terrific and the events were fun. The area where the held most events were too crowded. Nevertheless we had fun, as we said saw knights and the various displays in the castle. The stairs up to the towers were treacherous...haha, but the view was worth it (carrying kids up the tower was not).
Dale P — Google review
Modern renovations, looks medieval and also modern and stable. The inside rooms are brilliant and from the rooftop all the city is visible. Interactive screens with diverse games inside, including a photography maker machine that sends you a postcard with your personal photo on e-mail on the spot. Worth the ticket!

The Castle of Eger, originally built in the 13th century to defend against Turkish invasion, now houses a history museum. Visitors can explore the renovated dungeons, outer Esplanade, and armoury while imagining the historical figures who once walked its grounds. Nearby attractions include Geza Gardonyis former house turned museum and the city center with its Archbishops Palace and Basilica.
Famous Hungarian castle. It has been renovated and improved in the last few years. There is an extensive audio guide in multiple languages. You can learn a lot about the history and the famous battle against the ottomans. Every day at 15:52 there is a celebration of the 1552 battle with firing an ancient gun (see video). It is to honour the memory of the protectors of the castle.

Eger Castle was so beautiful and the scenery from the top was gorgeous. There is alot of history to be seen here and great photography opportunities. There were alot of signs in English which was useful. I will say if you are unable to walk up steps or at an incline it may be difficult for some with accessibility issues. There was a lady at the counter who was a little unfriendly which was a shame but the lady in the gift shop was nice.

Dobó István Square, located in the heart of Eger, is a vibrant and lively destination that offers a mix of history, culture, and entertainment. Named after the renowned Hungarian warrior Istvan Dobo, who defended Eger against the Ottoman armies in 1552, this square is a bustling hub with outdoor cafes, a summer fountain, and the Baroque Church of Anthony of Padua. It's a popular social spot for locals and visitors alike.
A beautiful historic square, in summer there are various events, in winter you can find Christmas markets here. Large buildings and distinctive architecture underline the historical importance of the city of Eger, which even today is one of the important places to visit.

I’ve visited the Basilica of St. Giles in Bardejov twice during my tours of Slovakia, and it never fails to impress. The Gothic medieval architecture is absolutely stunning, and the church is incredibly well-maintained. The intricate stained glass windows and the beautiful altar add to the rich history and spiritual atmosphere of the place. There’s a definite sense of peace and positivity when you're inside. The basilica is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, it's a true gem of medieval Slovakia. If you appreciate history and architecture, this basilica is a must-see!

They seem to have problems with foreigners here as I see on reviews below,. We wanted to buy 3 tickets and the man was lovely, torn the tickets out and asked for €9. Till I got my wallet oversized lady pipped out of the corner - not too sure what was her role - I guess judge -claiming our outfit is not to her liking - naked shoulders 30°C and we are on holidays coming from little to non judgemental country as who is wearing what. To the Church management: Please have the dress code requirement written down. To the lady who didn't allow us enter the church and by her action show in real life to my children 11 and 16 how Christian acts. Sadly my children will remember that for years to come for all the wrong reasons. Jesus would not be proud of you. “I give you a new commandment. Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another everybody will know that you're my true followers" God is Love.

Climbing the tower here would probably be the only good way to see the entire market square at once and catch it entirely in the photo* *I said "would" instad of "it is" because the viewpoint is surrounded by a net, which will mess up your photos, as seen below.

Beautiful church and great view on the square from the tower. The inside of the church was smaller than I expected. The tower has a very narrow stairway to go up (and down). Usually not too crowded.

Beautiful basilica. Worthy of a day trip to visit (plus visit the surrounding city square). Buy the complete set of tickets so you can visit the bell tower and take photos. The climb up the tower is somewhat sketch (but do it anyway for the views). Be aware that the bells may sound without warning so be prepared to cover your ears completely to avoid hearing damage.

(Translated by Google) What a place...the views, the amazing hiking and biking trails. You'll find the call of nature here. It's a place with few tourists. There's something for everyone. It's worth visiting just to commune with nature. There's a large, free parking lot near the gondola lift. However, if you're stubborn and want to park right at the door, you'll have to pay for that pleasure. The price for entering the viewing platform (the views are the same without actually climbing it 🤣) and the ascent and descent is a bit too high for me - 69 złoty per person. I recommend it to anyone who loves mountains of varying heights 😉 (Original) Co za miejsce...widoki, szalone wyprawy piesze i rowerowe. Tu znajdziesz zew natury. An amazing testament to Polish architectural beauty and a landmark deserving of much more attention than it currently has. It is always a pleasure to see castles, inspired by stories of old and fascinating history, but this castle is different from the rest in its quite modern construction date; it was erected in the year 2000 by a man whose passion is manifested in this medieval haven. Just like it is a great gift to listen to someone speak about something with a passion, so is it so much more the pleasure to visit a castle cared for and overseen by a passionate castellan, who can show you the castle he himself built and genuinely cares about. This castle allows one to immerse themselves into a medieval world from the moment they step onto its grounds, particularly with the accompaniment of the fervent castellan whose mien elicits the feeling of interacting with a real medieval character. Not only is the tour and exploration of the castle an immersive pleasure, but you can delve into history even further by booking a room in the castle to sleep in, one endowed with the same medieval demeanor characteristic of the whole castle. The castle is full of character and attractions appealing to all audiences of any age.

Beautiful castle, organized as a museum. It,'s very well preserved, a nice dive into history, suitable for all ages
Stelian S — Google review
Kežmarok Castle (Kežmarský hrad) is one of the best-preserved urban castles in Slovakia. It’s located right in the heart of the town of Kežmarok, at the foot of the High Tatras. The castle dates back to the 15th century and was built on the site of an earlier Gothic church. Over the centuries, it served various roles – defensive, residential, and administrative – and was owned by wealthy townspeople and nobility. Architecturally, the castle has a compact structure with corner towers and a central courtyard surrounded by solid walls. It has the character of a fortress but still retains an elegant appearance, making it quite photogenic. From the outside, it looks impressive – light-colored walls, red-tiled roofs, and surrounding greenery create a beautiful contrast. Visitors can enter the courtyard and, with a guided tour, explore some of the museum exhibitions inside. The castle houses displays related to the history of the Spiš region, medieval weaponry, and everyday life in centuries past. Even if you don’t go inside, it’s worth stopping by just to admire the structure and atmosphere from the outside.

One of the best surviving town castles in Slovakia. It houses several recently finally aged exhibitions, including that of the medieval weaponry, Imre Thököly, a pharmacy and the history of the tourism in Hungary and Slovakia. Visitors can interact closely with a wide range of animals, including rabbits, goats, parrots, kangaroos, pelicans, emus, and more.
As a fan of zoo is general, I had to visit this one as it’s on my way, was no planned and located a sign on my way and went immediately. They gathered various of animals in one place, enjoyed myself seeing and taking pictures of animals and they way they designed each animal carrier is actually creative for me, as you can access a tunnel shape from the front to the middle of the carrier and you can see animals up close. Really recommend.

I really liked it. We were with children, we left the park last. I liked the environment, it's clean. I liked the animals, that you can get close to them, and some of the less dangerous ones you can pet. And the staff! Separate and fully deserved praise, everyone of them will tell you about the animals, answer questions. Patient, kind and smiling. Recommendation 100 percent.

Great place to spend a day with kids, but interesting place even for the adults and animal lovers. Surroundings of the park is beautiful, colourful flowers are verywhere. You can get inside of some animal enclosure like rabbits, big turtles, snakes even the bears and learn a lot about animals from the staff. You can buy a food and feed some animals too. Apart of animals, there is a lot of others attractions inside as mirror maze, small train around ZOO, paddle boats for kids, carousel, electric cars, trampolines etc. Also there are places for refreshments, or for lunch, so you can spent here all day very easily.
Silvia C — Google review
Nice place—but not much more than that. The large animals—bears, tigers, and lions—look truly distressed in their small, enclosed cages. It felt downright cruel, and all for the sake of entertainment. On the positive side, the petting areas were genuinely pleasant. Petting rabbits was very nice, and so was the area where you could pet wild boars. Those experiences added a softer, friendlier touch to the visit. The little train ride may suit very young children. It departs every 30 minutes for a quick 8-minute loop. The problem is that the schedule is only posted inside the carriage—so there’s no way to know beforehand. We once sat on the train for 22 minutes, clueless as to why it wasn’t moving. And the birds near the train? Their screeching was absolutely deafening. We just wanted to escape that noise. Also, best avoided on hot days—this place doesn’t work well in the heat. Keep that in mind.

You can be very close to the animals and have fun at the same time! The also have a train which goes through the Zoo. Restaurants and you get to see the waterpark slides at the same time! :-) The staff also speak different languages when the talk about animals.
M B — Google review
Excellent programe for 1-2 hours. You can get close with all the animals. Squirrels were running on our bodies, birds were landing on our arms and even heads. The staff is really nice, there is dedicated person for each animal, who tells you basic information and you can ask anything. I took my girlfriend here on her birthday she enjoyed it very much, recommend it for a date, if you like animals.

Great place, must see place on Slovakia map for all people who like animals. Staff is helpful and know a lot about those animals, they speak english if its needed. Decorations of whole city can bring You realu nice climate. Closeness of nature that You can feel.

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Tatralandia is a year-round water park that offers both indoor and outdoor pools, thrilling rides, and various slides. It's an ideal destination for a hot summer day with its fun rides, water slides, tubing wave pool, and wave machine. The park also features a children's pool to keep the little ones entertained. Additionally, during winter when skiing conditions are unfavorable, Tatralandia serves as a great alternative with access available using skipass.
Fantastic place to go with our boys of 8, 9 and 12 yrs old. With so many slides you can gradually build up the difficulty level. Personal favorite: Flamingo. Also had some good food from the grill 😋 And enough parking space. Buy tickets online to get some discount 😉
Andries — Google review
If you enjoy feeling exploited – go there. The entrance tickets are outrageously overpriced, and the place is packed with thousands of people, creating enormous queues for the slides. For some unexplained reason, on most of the slides – especially those designed for kids – you’re forced to wait for an inflatable tube, which makes the wait even longer and more cumbersome. On the main slides, you can end up waiting over an hour (!) in line, and then spend more long minutes waiting again at the top. Everything moves painfully slowly and inefficiently. But the real nerve is what they call “Express Tickets.” For an extra €3 per person per slide, they let you skip the main line and go straight up to the slide queue itself. So, while you – who already paid dozens of euros to get in – wait endlessly in the “regular” line, dozens of people who paid more casually walk past you. For every 20 “express” guests, they let through maybe 1 or 2 who paid the already outrageous regular admission. They’re counting on you to give up and pay more. It’s basically extortion. In 8 hours at the park, the kids barely managed 7 slides in total, and altogether spent about 5–6 hours waiting in line. The food is expensive too, and the queues for food are just as unreasonable. We won’t be coming back, and we definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
Oded M — Google review
The water park is huge and offers a wide variety of attractions, with something for everyone. The rides and activities were diverse and a lot of fun. Most of the attractions are outdoors, so weather can make a big difference. The only downside was that the major attractions had long waiting times. We visited on a sunny day, so it wasn’t too bad, but on colder days the wait could be less pleasant, especially for those not used to chilly weather.
Kobi C — Google review
This review is for the aquapark pools and slides, not the hotel. As we were not there The place is great and we spent the full day with kids, even though most of the slides were closed due to winter, it was still lots of fun and not crowded at all , October time

Absolutely fantastic experience at Aqua Park Tatralandia! So many slides, pools, and attractions for every age. The water is warm, everything is clean, and the staff are super friendly. Perfect mix of fun and relaxation — a must-visit when in Slovakia. PS: There was a magician😂
Joe B — Google review
Visited Tatralandia Water Park today. The park is very large, with plenty of seating areas both outdoors and indoors. It can get extremely crowded, which may not be ideal for those who dislike crowds, but it offers a fun experience for most visitors above 120 cm in height. Only a few attractions require a minimum height of 140 cm. There are lockers available for storing belongings, and many restaurants on-site, though prices are relatively high, around €15 for a standard meal and €3 for drinks. The park has a wide variety of attractions and pools. We chose to visit mainly for the wave pools, but unfortunately, they were closed upon arrival. It’s possible to skip the long lines by paying €3 per ride, but this option isn’t available for all attractions and must be paid each time you want to skip the line. If you don’t bring a towel, you can rent one for €4. There is plenty of parking in the complex, including in the main lot.
Lior L — Google review
Unbelievably crowded! Right at the entrance, at every slide (it took even 55 mins today for one of them), at all restaurants in the peak lunch time, and finally a decent queue at the exit to pay the consumption. It's a pity, because the place has very good facilities and potential, it's just the unlimited visitors left in on such a peak day, which creates such a distress.
Lorant D — Google review
Amazing waterpark. Super expensive but we had a wonderful day. We arrived at opening time so we could try all sides already without a wait. Even later during the day there weren't too long lines at the slides. Nice variety of slides. The animation team was fun and they organized fun games. They mostly speak Slovak and Polish though. Even though they can speak English, they spend little time or attention on also announcing their things in English. The volleyball with the huge ball was super fun. There are tons of beds available, so you'll always find one, even though people come in early to claim the best ones with a towel already while hardly using it throughout the day. Spent the entire day here from open to close and still would have loved to spend more time here. Parking is free. With these extreme entrance fees I find it annoying that they charge extra for silly things such as shooting a water canon. They smartly require tapping your wristband for it so you have no clue how much you've spent already. Mixed feelings about the option to pay 3 euro per person per ride to skip part of the waiting lines for slides. Luckily it wasn't so busy when we were there so it gave little to no advantage. Parking is free. Remember to bring sunscreen as most things are outside and with all the excitement you don't notice that you're getting burned. We got sunburned badly, but it was worth it.

Wieliczka Salt Mine

Located on the outskirts of Krakow in South Poland, the Wieliczka Salt Mine is a 13th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest and most stunning salt mines globally. It features underground tunnels, chapels, chambers, saline lakes, and offers themed tours suitable for all ages. The mine showcases an interactive history of medieval European mining techniques and houses remarkable artworks hundreds of meters below ground.
It was absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend visiting! The tour lasts about 2–3 hours and is split into two parts: the salt mine itself and a museum tour afterwards. You can skip the museum if you’re tired. I paid 143 Zł, which I think is totally fair for such a unique experience. The tour guide was fantastic—very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and open. There’s a lot of walking and many stairs,😂 so I’d recommend comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for moving around. It’s definitely suitable for children above a certain age and for older visitors as long as they’re fairly mobile, but it’s not ideal for anyone with limited mobility. As for the highlights: the first massive hall was breathtaking, the two underground lakes were stunning, the underground church was on another level, and the final hall left me completely amazed. All in all, I learned so much that day and had an unforgettable adventure. An absolute must-see!
SAKI — Google review
An absolutely incredible experience and one of the real highlights of our trip. The Wieliczka Salt Mine completely exceeded expectations. It’s vast, beautifully lit and full of fascinating history. The scale of it is hard to take in until you’re actually down there, walking through the tunnels and chambers carved entirely from salt. The guided tour was excellent, with just the right mix of facts, humour and storytelling. The underground chapels and sculptures are astonishing, and it’s amazing to think they were all hand carved by miners. Every turn reveals something unexpected, from chandeliers made of salt crystals to huge caverns that feel almost otherworldly. It’s well organised, easy to reach from Krakow, and surprisingly comfortable even deep underground. I’d recommend it to anyone. It’s one of those rare places that truly lives up to the hype.

A must when visiting Krakow. We booked through Krakow Direct and were picked up/dropped off at our hotel for the tour. Short walk across road to the Salt Mines where Justine, our tour guide was superb and witty. There are lots and lots and lots of steps to go down. Thankfully you don't have to walk back up! Such a marvel of human achievement from centuries ago. The sheer size of this place is mind blowing. To think tourists only get to see less than 2% of it is difficult to comprehend. You will need comfortable shoes and it can get warm with all the walking. The chapels are breathtaking and the sculptures are fantastic. Truly worth a visit and at several points along the tour you can purchase memorabilia which is really well priced which is unusual for a tourist attraction. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!

My wife and I visited the salt mine in early October. It is an awe-inspiring place. We would highly recommend a visit. The history is fascinating and the cathedral is spectacular. Our guide, Natalie, was excellent. She was positive, engaging, insightful, and energetic. We had an amazing and memorable time. The tour is quite long (2+ hours) and you do walk over 3 km, descending down through the mine over 100 meters by a mix of ramps and stairs. Good news, you take an elevator back up.
David D — Google review
Impressive mines Yes the mines are absolutely incredible when you consider the engineering and work it took to carve out all those passageways and huge underground halls. Then there's the intricate statues sculpted out of the salt which are incredible. There are also natural wonders such as the underground lakes. You can easily spend up to a day there if the guides would only allow you - but with the crowds they want to move people along. You NEED the guides otherwise you'd get lost in the labyrinth. You are provided with headphones so you can always hear what they're saying. We had Nicholas - he was a lovely guy, but .... could talk less, if I'm honest. At one stage he offered us the option to talk more or talk less. I would have opted for less, but people were too nice/polite and didn't want to hurt his feelings so opted for more. So after a lot of his monotone warbling (sorry Nicholas) I just removed the headphones and took in the beauty of the place for myself. Well worth seeing though
Gavin — Google review
Very interesting and impressive tour. Multiple huge caverns made for a rather different underground experience to all the caves I've previously been in. We even had a nice meal in the underground restaurant before heading back to the surface.
Richard — Google review
I really enjoyed the tour, good information. Amazing views (inside 😄), I can't describe it and the pictures don't do it any justice. The mine is absolutely amazing, the size, the beauty, the effort and detail on the handcrafted figures, everything really. Some of the rooms you enter are just jaw dropping, yout mind just goes to wonder how did someone build this. The temperature is really nice inside, 14-17c at all times, I was happy in a t-shirt but some people had light jackets on. There are loads of gift shops at the exit and they sell everything that the underground ones do, so unless you want to carry bags throughout the tour, buy your gifts at the exit. I tried the restaurant before the return to the surface and it was great. Good food and good quantity. I will be returning in the future. For management, I just have two suggestions...One, please try to get some radio relays in the tunnels as the signal was very bad of you were in the back of the tour group. Two, bigger gaps between tours would be great, just to give more time to see some of the areas in more detail. But overall amazing.
Fabio C — Google review
While the salt mine is interesting to visit and quite impressive with its man-made chambers, corridors and chapels, the overall experience is a 'hit and miss' at best. As you can only visit on an organised tour, a lot depends on the guide you'll get. We went on a pre-booked English-language tour (they start every 30 min) and were very unlucky with our guide. He spoke a very basic, heavily accented, broken English, which was hard to follow and at times bordering on comical. His commentary was devoid of substance and repetitive, mostly stating the obvious. We didn't learn anything interesting about the mine, its history or its current use. Most of the 'installations' were dated and very kitchy. The tour was rushed, with large groups of tourists constantly encroaching on each other's space. In summary: was it interesting? Yes. Was it worth the effort and money? Not so sure.

Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory, located in the old industrial district between Podgorze and Kazimierz, is a museum that pays homage to the remarkable courage of Oskar Schindler during the Nazi occupation of Krakow. The factory, immortalized in Steven Spielberg's film 'Schindler's List,' was where over 1,200 Jews were saved from concentration camps through employment.
This guided tour was only a little about Schindler as it walks you through the story of Poland in WW2 from different perspectives. Very informative and the hour and a half tour was the perfect length. Our guide spoke clearly and concisely (in English) and was very engaging as she told this fascinating story. We booked tickets and tour online which was a great choice: we skipped the long queue out front and were ushered inside first when our time came. I highly recommend this tour and the guide is so worth it. We definitely would not have got the depth of understanding if we’d gone in on our own. I was deeply moved at various points; this is an experience I will not forget.
Kelly C — Google review
We visited Schindlers factory on rhe first day of our trip to Krakow. We had been in the city about 10 years ago and missed it then so wanted to make sure we got there this time. Firstly this is less a tour of Oskar Schindler's factory anf more a WW2 museum that just happens to be in the same building that Oskar Schindler happened to use. There isnt a lot about Schindler and his workers. Most of it is about the war in Krakow and Poland. Very informative but something you need to know if you are specifically going to see the factory from the film. If you are going with that in mind you may be disappointed. But if you want to learn about WW2 in Krakow then this will be the place for you. Another tip. Book in advance and get a skip the queue ticket. We didnt and when we joined the queue it didnt seem too long maybe 100 people in front of us. It took over 2 hours to get in. Every ten or fifteen minutes around 10 people would get in. Meanwhile dozens got in via skip the queue in the same time. So dont queue. Book a skip the queue tour. But that said we enjoyed the visit and would highly recommend it.
Colm F — Google review
An excellent museum that covers the entire lived history of the Jews in Krakow during the Nazi regime, the emergence of Oskar Schindler and his amazing role in saving thousands of them. Excellent displays, wonderful recreations and maps and documents. Very poignant. Very good.
Anurakshat G — Google review
A must visit. Get here early, as there was a queue at opening. The permanent exhibition is great, and you go around the actual factory. If you remember the film, you'll see the iconic entrance/ staircase. Ignore the website about ticket availability and the sign on the door. Worth the queue time.
Tom W — Google review
A must see , made better by watching the fantastic Schindler's List to get an additional appreciate of events. Tour guide (via Get Your Guide) was informative and knowledgeable. Earphones provided with this program and skip the queue also, as your booked in at a certain Time
Emmet507 — Google review
Really interesting museum with lots of information and exhibits. We queued on the day, morning, to get entry. They were letting people in 10 at a time. Took us about 30 mins to get in - the queue was much bigger in the afternoon. The biggest downside to the museum is the sheer amount of tours going through it. Some of the corridors are too narrow for 20 ppl+ groups to just stand around and listen to a guide. If you get caught behind one group it’s a nightmare to get past. Maybe consider limiting the amount of group tours passing through.
Andrew G — Google review
Very atmospheric and well thought out. Seeing the old factory turned into a museum and the history within is truly like time travel. Highly recommend getting tickets and a reservation in advanced; and if you do, do not wait outside with the others, simply walk in within your scheduled tour time. My only gripe with the experience is the annoying tour groups you have to squeeze through in the exhibit. Not only can they block your way, but the actual museum does not make a profit from these people! Why the museum has not address this is unknown but the staff there definitely share the sentiment that something should be done about these groups.
Axel L — Google review
Booked tickets via their website before we travelled to Krakow. You can risk queuing but it's nice to have piece of mind that to are assured a slot. We booked an English speaking tour of the factory. The tour/factory is a deep dive into Krakow's role in WW2, not just about Oscar Schindler. It's a fantastic, immersive museum with well-thought out exhibits. It takes you on a journey through the war years. Absolutely recommend the museum. The tour was great for us, but if you want to spend time reading all the exhibits then do it without a guide.

Kazimierz, the former Jewish district of Krakow, has a rich history dating back to the 14th century when Jewish people first settled in this area. The architecture here is notably different from the main city and reflects centuries of coexistence between Catholics and Jews. Visitors can explore significant historical sites such as King Kazimierz's legacy, St. Stanislaus' well, remnants of the original ghetto wall, and Schindler's factory.
This is a wonderful district to stay in, I would recommend staying here instead of the city centre. I enjoyed old streets, Jewish shops, cafes. Very authentic and colorful.

This is a very pretty area of the city and not too far to walk from the Old City. It has a tragic history and there are lots of monuments and information boards detailing the events of the 1940's and later that caused the Jewish population to plummet so dramatically. I walked around one evening to take some photos and it was quiet and felt safe although it is more run down and has graffiti and litter that you don't see in the Old City. Lots of nice cafes too!

We took a golf buggy tour around Kazimierz and the Getto with Romeo and his wife who were excellent guides taking us to some very interesting places and telling us all about the history including all about King Kazimierz and Ester, St Stanislaus and visiting his well ,the war and showing us part of the original getto wall and schindler's factory to name just a few. This area of Krakow is a must visit with so much history and its also a very lively area with no end of places to eat and drink.

St. Mary's Basilica

Sights & Landmarks
St. Mary's Basilica, a Roman Catholic church located in the city center, is a must-visit for its stunning features and rich history. The basilica boasts a carved altarpiece and Gothic watchtower that announces the time with hourly trumpet calls. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful tracery and medieval stained glass windows while learning about Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles as well as the pillar-buttress system.
St. Mary’s Church in Kraków is one of the most breathtaking places in the city and easily one of my favorite churches in Poland. Its majestic Gothic architecture, richly decorated interior, and intricate details inspire awe and convey a profound sense of solemnity. Built in the 14th century, the church’s construction continued over several centuries. In the late 15th century, it gained one of its most remarkable features – the altarpiece by Veit Stoss, the largest wooden Gothic altarpiece in Europe, created between 1477 and 1489. Commissioned by the citizens of Kraków, it was made from three types of wood: oak for the structure, larch for the background, and limewood for the figures. The interior is equally stunning, adorned with polychrome decoration completed between 1890 and 1892 by Jan Matejko and his collaborators. The star-shaped vaulted ceiling, rich in symbolism and intricate details, gives the impression of heaven descending to earth, while the walls feature biblical scenes and images of saints, inviting quiet reflection. For a small fee, visitors can explore the interior, and a truly special moment occurs at 11:50, when the wings of the main altarpiece open to the accompaniment of music, revealing the exquisite carved scenes in all their detail. The church is also famous for one of Kraków’s most enduring legends – the Mariacki Bugle Call. According to tradition, it originated from a medieval trumpeter who sounded the alarm during an enemy attack and was struck by an arrow while playing. Ever since, the melody has been played every hour in honor of his bravery. St. Mary’s Church masterfully combines history, art, and spirituality. Its beauty and grandeur leave a lasting impression on anyone who visits. It is a place not to be missed, where one can experience the true spirit of Kraków while admiring the stunning altarpiece and polychrome decorations.

St. Mary’s Basilica is absolutely stunning — the interior took my breath away. The colours, detail, and craftsmanship are incredible, and photos really don’t do it justice. It’s also great to see such a beautiful landmark remain accessible and affordable for everyone. Unlike many tourist sites, it doesn’t feel over-commercialised or like it’s trying to monetise a religious space — it’s handled with real respect and care. Whether you’re exploring Kraków for a day or a week, this is a must-visit spot. The surrounding square and old town atmosphere make the whole experience even more special. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience. The Basilica is very interesting, nice and rich. Full of emotions. You have to wait a bit sometimes but it worths a visit. Every hour there's a surprise playing music...
Punakaiki — Google review
Saint Mary’s Basilica rises over Kraków’s square like a Gothic prayer cast in brick. Rebuilt by the townspeople after the 1241 invasion, it became the city’s own gift to itself. Its twin towers—one tall and crowned with the Hejnał trumpeter, the other sturdy and quiet—frame a church shaped by generations of architects and guilds. Inside, blue star vaulted ceilings lead to Veit Stoss’s luminous fifteenth century altarpiece, a masterpiece of carved devotion. The shrine of Our Lady glows with votive offerings, and the hourly Hejnał, cut short in memory of a fallen watchman, ties history and reverence into a single breath.
Basil C — Google review
Well, it's impressing but you're not getting that much of a difference in view by paying for the ticket. I recommend going through the free entrance and seeing if it's good enough for you before deciding to buy an actual ticket. By the way, you can easily buy tickets in the building opposite the side entrance.

The Rynek Underground Museum in Krakow offers a high-tech journey through the city's history, located beneath the Market Square. The museum showcases excavated streets and buildings, providing insight into Krakow's European identity through multimedia exhibitions. Visitors can explore early medieval settlements and learn about the city's cultural and commercial connections in Europe. The museum features touchscreens, holograms, and archaeological finds such as medieval merchant stalls and cobbled streets.
It was just a wonderful experience for the whole family! We loved this place. Very interesting to get to know and feel some old Krakow history. There is a nice small place with some entertainment for the kids. It is possible to play some games and see interesting theatre about king Krak and dragon. :) Theatre is in polish language, but all images help to imagine a story even without knowing the language (we understand just a little). So this museum is really nice experience for the whole family! And kids will enjoy some activities as well. Also after you exit exhibitions, you will find very nice souvenir shop with some nice and interesting things there. However on the central market square above the museum, you could find a lot of souvenir shops with nice things to buy for a gift or for your memory.

A fascinating museum located right under Krakow’s main square! The Rynek Underground Museum is really large and well-designed, showcasing the city’s medieval history with archaeological ruins, interactive displays, and detailed information. If you take your time to read everything, you can easily spend 2–3 hours exploring. I didn’t as it got a bit tiring but still spent almost 2 hours in there. On Tuesdays, entrance is free, but get there early. Even though the museum opens at 10 AM, there was already a long line at 9:30 AM to pick up the free tickets. While picking up, you can choose the entrance time. Also, the entrance to the museum is on the opposite side of the square, so plan ahead. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy history and want to see a unique side of Krakow.
Tila N — Google review
The museum as a whole is not bad, but I do have some advice I wish someone had given me before going. VISITORS: You have to buy a ticket at the ticket office and walk around the building to get to the entrance. When you first enter, you're instructed to follow the numbers to different exhibits, each one has a screen with lengthy descriptions that you can read. DON'T READ THEM, unless you're majorly drawn to a particular exhibit, it's not worth it. Move on, the better part of the museum is towards the end. Once things start getting interesting, you will be able to tell. I made the mistake of wasting a lot of my energy at the boring stuff and nearly walked out before completing the whole round. But, there's a lot more to the museum than the first room you see, so hang tight. Some comments for the museum: 1. Better signposts to indicate where the entrance of the museum is and where to get tickets. The museum is not very well advertised, and it is difficult for people to be drawn to the entrance if nobody knows it is there. Maybe add a map with museums to visit on the main square. 2. As mentioned above, the text is very lengthy. I frankly felt as if I was reading a history students' homework. I feel a clearly marked title and sentence describing each number / exhibit would be extremely helpful, then people can choose to move to the screen and read about them in detail if they want. Half the time I had no idea what I was looking at and was inclined to wait in queue for the screen just to know what is in the display cabinets. 3. The 180° screen should be marked more clearly. It is a good part of the museum and can be easily missed without realising. 4. One thing I was personally interested in was the St Mary's Basilica, and I found myself standing in front of the display screen waiting for the screen to change. The rotation view of the church in each era was good, but could easily be cut to about 2 seconds or zoomed in and out to different details of the building instead of a repetition of the same thing for (maybe?) 10 full seconds. 5. The museum was very dark, making things hard to see and read. I can imagine this will be more difficult for people with impaired eyesight. If the dark underground theme is desired, maybe add some bright spotlights onto some displays.

Let me save you some times and confusions. The ticket counter and the entrance located separately. Before going to the entrance (which is located on the front part, right corner of the market hall, the one that facing the cathedral), you first need to go to the ticket counter, located at the back side of the market hall. I attached the picture of the hall map. Now about the museum. I started my visit with a bit of underestimating since I assume it is only about a market cloth, but ended up with a feeling of amazement of how diverse their sections are, they even have kids playing room. So my suggestion is not to spend too much time at the beginning because the cool stuff was at nearly end. This museum is quite unique, located underground and has witnessed many changes of event, only on this small site. Many relics displayed how it was a graveyard, a market, then became a huge International hub of trade decades ago. To better understand the history of Krakow and if you wanna sit and chill, they provide some rooms to watch movies about the history divided into some periods, very interesting and informative. All facilities are well maintained. I came on Tuesday when the entrance is free and spend almost 2 hours inside. They have limited tickets on free day and close early at 3 pm, so better come early.

I'd definitely recommend pre-booking a timeslot and thus skipping the ticket counter. Just yead straight to the entrance with the digital ticket. The museum is huge, showing tons of history unearthed under the marketplace. There's such a plethora of exhibits to see and a fantastic audio tour route to follow. Stunningly beautiful and incredibly well curated, it's a fascinating place.

Great outing to understand the beginnings of the city of Krakow. The lay out is easy to navigate and our English guide took time to explain in good details the way of life in those times. At the end of your group tour, you can stay and browse by yourself, there are videos to watch in small cabins, good to sit and relax your legs… Descriptive boards have very small fonts considering how dark it is inside.

The Rynek Museum in Krakow is an extraordinary place preserving the city’s heritage and offering invaluable historical insight. Walking through its exhibitions, you can truly feel the layers of history beneath the Main Square. I am especially grateful to Mr. Christopher and Miss Karolina, who were extremely kind and attentive during my visit. Their hospitality and dedication made my experience even more memorable. Thank you to the entire team for keeping this unique museum and its stories alive for visitors from around the world.

Sights & Landmarks
Jasna Góra is a significant spiritual site in Poland, established by the Paulite order in 1382. The monastery houses the revered Icon of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa and various other sacred artworks. Pilgrims are drawn to this location due to reported miracles associated with the Black Madonna painting in the Chapel of Lady. The site also features an information center that offers guided tours in English.
A truly magical place. Visiting Jasna Góra Monastery was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is filled with peace and spiritual energy. You can feel a deep sense of calm and sacredness the moment you walk through the gates. A must-visit for anyone seeking reflection, history, or simply a moment of inner peace.

A heathen here. A pretty magnificent church. Our tour uses a local tour guide who takes us through the church while the Mass is in progress. He's also very thorough with the small museum. The church is dedicated to Black Madonna (the Virgin Mary), mother of Jesus. Reportedly, she possessed extraordinary power.

I love this place a lot. As soon as you walk through the gates it feels like you enter a little village on its own!!! It's a really peaceful and sacred place. I can only recommend ^^

Gorgeous buildings and surroundings. We were lucky enough to be there while mass was on. The sound of singing fills the place with reverie. There are multiple areas of the compound that are well worth a visit.

Wonderful shrine, a must-see while around Krakow. The icone of our Lady, the beautiful church, a very interesting treasury and museum, and breathtaking view at the top of the tower, all these make this place a magical one.

My visit to Jasna Góra immediately gave me a sense of falseness and incoherence. The sanctuary presents itself as a place of humility, compassion, and deep spirituality, yet the atmosphere felt strangely performative, almost staged. The devotion is grand, but the emotional tone is rigid — more about preserving an image than expressing genuine faith. What impressed me most was the strong contrast between the values celebrated inside the sanctuary and the social attitudes often seen outside of it. Poland proudly defines itself as a deeply Catholic nation, yet frequently promotes restrictive and exclusionary positions toward migrants, diversity, and LGBTQ+ people. This tension becomes glaring when compared to the very teachings the sanctuary claims to elevate. Below are some of the biblical passages that highlight this contradiction: Hebrews 13:2 “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Mark 12:31 “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” Seen through this lens, Jasna Góra becomes a symbol of a broader national paradox: a powerful religious identity that often seems disconnected from the empathy, openness, and inclusion that the Gospel itself demands. Instead of spiritual harmony, the visit raises difficult questions about the gap between religious image and social reality.

A beautiful and spiritual place with incredible history. The monastery is impressive, peaceful, and filled with meaning. A must-visit when in Częstochowa.

This is considered to be a sacred place with a miracle-making icon. This historical place is visited by the Pope, too. The architecture with inside decoration of the churches is beautiful! The entrance is free. There is a large parking behind the cathedral complex. Many pilgrims come here every year.

Stefano C — Google review
It wasn't really what my kids were expecting. My 11 year old wanted to ride more dinosaurs. My 8 year old wanted to interact with the dinos and not just look at them. The rides weren't even dinosaur themed. Food was ok. We ate outside where wasps were pretty much swarming us half the time. The 4d attractions were neat, not too much for those of us who tend to get queasy. We were there for the night on a Sunday, and once the park closed, we had a hard time finding a place to eat. Only a pizza place was open past 8, and the wait for delivery was an hour and a half at that point. Our over night accommodations were in the human evolution building. The common areas were very dark, and the entire decor was futuristic, blocky and uninviting. We stayed in the bronchiasaurus room, which housed 16 bunk beds and a private rest room with 2 each: sons, toilets, showers. There was a hair dryer and body wash/shampoo in the showers. Towels were provided. The windows all had screens to keep bugs out, which is rare here. The staff were accommodating with breakfast. We had to be on the road before their normal breakfast time started, so they prepared us sandwiches and packed them in a large bag and stored them for us in the common area kitchenette. A unique feature was the active dig site and being able to see authentic fossils. We did manage to get lost trying to find the dinos as we didn't expect the huge play ground and all the rides. There's also a beach on a lake. Lots of activities available. My kids enjoyed the giant trampoline. There's also an upside down house diagonal from the human evolution building you can go into for a little extra (36 pln for a family of 2 adults & 2 kids). We didn't use it, but there's ample camp grounds as well.

Very nice place to enjoy with kids. On sunday it was not crowded, a huge territory with lot of things to do and it was fun for kids and interesting for adults as well.

A great fun place for all the family. Lots to do for any age.. The food is petty decent too. There is a great variety of fun, with enough space to accommodate everything. Interesting interactive surprises. A very clever way to do it right. Been a number of times and always enjoy it. Downside is not enough staff, so beverage areas were closed and long queues. You must do the train ride!!

Great activity for the whole family. It took us 4 hours to visit and we didn’t really see 100% plus we were moving fast. . Get the ticket ahead online so you don’t have to wait in line (and it can get pretty long). . There is a nice playground for kids, Ice cream stands and restaurants inside. It really could be an all day adventure! Really worth it!

Very nice, not very big ZOO. We saw couple feedings and trainings. Parking close by for fee, the one across the bridge is free.

This zoo is beautiful and big. There is English posting for names and much information in Polish that can be translated with Lens. The ice cream was delicious and very clean place. We spent over two hours and could have spent even more time there. I think we walked nearly 10km during the visit. It is one of my favorites
Joe S — Google review
Even better zoo than I imagined. You can see the animals really close. It's really modern, clean, and has beautiful waterfalls and an overall vibe. We went on a rainy day, so there were almost no other visitors besides me and my girlfriend, which made it feel like a private tour. We were there for at least 2.5 hours and still didn't see everything that the zoo had to offer.
Koli H — Google review
Really good experience, can’t complain really! Though it was sometimes hard to view the animals as the cage was very large compared to the number of animals with an outdoor and indoor section. Apart from that wear some good shoes as you’ll be walking for ages.
