We had an epic time skiing and snowboarding. Petra was a great ski instructor got all 3 kids skiing. They went from never skiing to skiing great! Even my 5 year old wouldn’t stop doing the kid section by herself. Hotel was nice 3 bedrooms. 2 bunk bed rooms and a sauna. Full kitchen!! Stephan was great too. We saw the northern lights every night! I highly recommend. Not crowed at all.

10/10 morning hike at Abisko national park with Lights over Lapland guide Felix! Easy for leisure hikers like me, yet bringing you to amazing viewpoints along the hiking trail. We had a lucky day with great weather which was a bonus. Felix is an experienced/ professional guide who provided loads of good insights on the habitat around us. Managed to capture some spectacular shots too! Would definitely be back here next time!

What an unforgettable experience in Abisko with Lights over Lapland! We joined the 4-night Autumn Abisko Aurora Chase and were impressed from the very start. Despite gloomy skies on our first night, the guides’ dedication was remarkable. We drove nearly an hour east and checked multiple spots to find clear skies. It truly reassured us how committed they were to helping everyone see the northern lights. After that, we had 3 amazing nights with different Aurora shows. A huge thank-you to Sara, who went above and beyond: scouting the best viewing spots, helping with camera setups, keeping us warm, and ensuring we enjoyed every moment. Thanks to her, we witnessed a breathtaking Aurora Corona dancing overhead for over 30 minutes, a moment we’ll never forget (staying out well past the end of the tour!). We also loved the morning hike to Lake Torneträsk and the delta with Felix, a 2-hour walk surrounded by breathtaking autumn views. It was both relaxing and enriching. Overall, Lights over Lapland made this an exceptional experience. You might think you can chase the lights on your own, but having expert guides who understand the terrain, weather, and microclimates makes all the difference. Truly the best decision of our trip - highly recommended!

What an absolutely amazing experience! Lights Over Lapland put together a tour package that was incredible. Four nights at the Abisko STF, winter coveralls, cameras, tripods, a guided hike in the Abisko National Park, and a guided chase of Northern Lights each night. Luckily we caught them in all their glory 2 nights and partially 1 night. Our communication with Jeanette and Rachel before and during our trip was excellent. They answered all of our questions promptly and I had many. Our nightly guide, Felix, was so knowledgeable and personable. We really enjoyed his company. Gavin, who led another group, was happy to help with our camera equipment and answer any questions. Sara, a laid back world traveler, took us on a very memorable hike. Her passion for the outdoors was evident. We thank you all for making this bucket list trip one we will always remember fondly.
Diane W — Google review
Felix was our Northern Lights guide — professional, friendly, and passionate. He patiently helped us set up our cameras and shared fascinating knowledge about the aurora. On the last day, it rained in Abisko, but he drove us away from the clouds in search of clear skies. Sara was our hiking guide and led us along a stunning trail where we enjoyed breathtaking lake reflections. She’s also an excellent photographer!

Amazing stay, based at the Tourist Station in the Abisko National Park. Brilliant service by Lights over Lapland with all enquiries, prior and post booking, answered promptly & efficiently by email and use of the app. Info about what to bring, activities & travel arrangements was exceedingly helpful. Wonderful morning hike from the Tourist Station, led by Felix, who shared lots of info about the wildlife, nature, landscape and seasons at Abisko. The highlight for me was being at the river delta with the sunshine bringing out amazing Autumn colours, and walking across the river to the waters edge of the lake. For 4 nights of the Abisko Autumn Aurora Chase, we were EXCEEDINGLY well looked after by Sara, with prebooked cameras, tripods, backpacks, headtorches & overalls all provided with fabulous instruction & constant support while out at night, and her knowledge of local locations resulted in seeing the aurora AND getting great pics for 3 out of 4 nights. Couldn't fault anything!! Thanks to Sara, Felix and all at Lights Over Lapland who worked so hard for us <3

We enjoyed our Abisko National Park Scenic Morning Hike with our wonderful guide Gavin so much so that we decided to book the Autumn Abisko Aurora Chase the same night to continue exploring what Abisko has to offer with Gavin and the LoL team and guests! It was a really beautiful and educational hike, and Gavin was really lovely, knowledgeable, kind and patient throughout. Having a photography background, Gavin was also able to bring us to great spots for beautiful photos! We also even tried out walking on a frozen part of the lake! The Northern Lights chase at night was exciting and we’re so glad we managed to catch the northern lights (our first time ever!) with the expertise, strategic planning, and patience of Gavin and Miquel (and with a bit of luck given the weather). We also enjoyed some snacks and warm lingonberry juice over fire to end the magical night. Thanks Gavin, Miquel and the team at LoL for such magical experience!

The Autumn Abisko Aurora Chase was a fantastic experience! A big shoutout to our guide Sara Brockmann. She was amazing. Super friendly, and very knowledgeable about history, lifestyle and nature of the region. She helped us with camera settings to make sure we got those stunning photos of the northern lights, which was awesome. We saw the lights at the first try right on the shore of Torneträsk lake, surrounded by incredible scenery. After the chase, we all sat around a cozy fire, and she brought out gingerbread cookies and hot lingonberry juice, perfect after a cold night! On our way back to Abisko, we stopped for one last peek at the sky from the Abisko Turiststation a truly magical view. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a fun, a marvelous experience with an awesome guide!
Andriy S — Google review
We had an amazing time joining the Lights over Lapland AB autumn aurora-chasing tour. In particular, our guide Sara Brockmann was truly responsible and trustworthy. She led us to a perfect lakeside spot where we witnessed multiple displays of the northern lights. Even more special, I proposed to my girlfriend there. Sara thoughtfully took photos for us — and, of course, she took great photos for everyone, not just us. She also prepared a cozy campfire, warm lingonberry juice, and gingerbread cookies to keep us warm. All in all, thanks to Sara’s help, we had an absolutely wonderful night. Finally, we wish everyone traveling to Abisko to see the aurora good weather and clear skies!

Aurora Sky Station

Mentioned on
3 lists
Museums
Observatories & Planetariums
Aurora Sky Station, located in Swedish Lapland, is a mountaintop observation center renowned for its spectacular views of the Northern Lights. Accessible via a 20-minute chairlift ride from Abisko National Park, visitors can enjoy guided night tours with the option of savoring Swedish fika or indulging in a four-course meal. In addition to being an ideal spot for witnessing the aurora borealis during winter, it also offers breathtaking vistas and midnight sun sightings during summer months.
Overall, after it was all said and done, we had an amazing experience. But the lead-up to it was pretty stressful and confusing. We only participated in the activity--we didn't stay at the Turistation hotel, so we only had the information we received via email and on the confirmation to go on. There needs to be better instructions on how to get to the Turistation and what to expect on the tour. We thought the only way to get from Abisko Mountain Lodge to the Turistation was to take a taxi, but we learned later that there were other options. Our taxi fell through so we had to WALK-45 minutes in the freezing cold. We were not expecting that. The Google map took us to the train station, not the hotel, so we ended up walking an extra 20 minutes. Getting home was really stressful. I couldn't find a taxi company that would pick us up at 01:30 and had NO IDEA there was a BUS!!! The tour details only say that the tour ends at 01:30. It doesn't say anywhere that you can end the tour whenever you want! We saw options for transportation between 23:30 and midnight but didn't think those would be options for us since the tour wasn't supposed to end until after 01:00. It wasn't clearly stated that we would be given a thermal suit to wear. I figured it out at the last minute but it wasn't clear if there would be storage space for any items we wanted or needed to remove before putting on the suit. I tried emailing STF with my questions but the responses weren't helpful. The transportation bit is key! We were so stressed that we wouldn't be able to get to the meeting point on time and that we might forfeit our tour and the HIGH COST as well. We ended up having to walk back to Abisko town at the end of the tour as well. It was SO COLD and not the easiest walk, even though the path is fairly well lit. The food at the dinner was delicious and we met some nice people sitting at the long table. The sky station is super cozy and warm inside, so it's the ideal place to be able to pop outside to see the lights when/if they happen, and then pop back inside when you get cold. The chair lift experience was quite an adventure, too. We got lucky and saw lights on our night, so that made the entire experience worth it.
Eleven R — Google review
Great experience. Reached there by cable chair lift during mid-summer time, single digit temperature. I can see the beautiful lake; I can feel the snow on the mountain which is melting slowly. Good for hiking, but need professional shoes and maps, paths showing on Google Maps are not precise enough.
Wei G — Google review
Amazing hike, it rained a bit but clear views and fresh water too! The cafe is great!
Tapiwa Y — Google review
I visited the sky station in December 2021. Sadly, it was cloudy that day. Even after waiting till almost 1 am, I didn't get the chance to see the dancing lights. The sky cleared up for a moment, thus got a glimpse of the green light. The most amazing part of the trip was definitely taking the chairlift through the dark to the top of the mountain. The tour guide showed the way from the STF to the base of the station, where everyone was given a warm overall and a pair of boots. It gets extremely cold while going up the mountain on the open chairlift. The sky station is quite cozy and nicely decorated. There is a cafe inside. The tour included a presentation about aurora. A lifetime experience indeed.
Afroza M — Google review
20 minutes up 900ft to the Café, it's a very peaceful ride, and the view of course is just breathtaking. If you're not going up there to ski, you can relax and watch people weaving through the blanket of snow. The staff are lovely. The Café experience is a little unique. I highly recommend. It's worth the trek 🏔😌
April A — Google review
Nice experience taking chairlift up to the station at Mt Nuolja. Took around 30mins. No sighting of the northern lights though. Kudos to the guide for clear explanation of lights and its myths. We remained at the station and chose not to hike further up due to cold weather (-18c). A good alternative is to go up spiraling case to top of building.
Kevin Y — Google review
Best scenic view Take the open chair ride to the mountain and then sat down at the open view deck and enjoy/ relax We walked down to Aurora sky station from Abisko guest house. It was approx 4 Km trail and you can view a canyon during the journey
Udayan J — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking views at the top. Takes around 20 minutes to go up where there are hiking trails which take you up higher. Definitely a must visit!

National park
Nature & Parks
Abisko National Park is a stunning and diverse destination, offering a range of activities from hiking to winter sports. The park boasts well-equipped mountain huts and beautifully planned trails for visitors to explore. With its breathtaking vistas, including the Nallo Valley, and the opportunity to witness the Northern Lights, it's an essential stop in Sweden.
Beautiful area for wildlife and walking. Weather very changeable so need sunhat jumper waterproofs and sturdy boots!
Melanie G — Google review
This is actually more than five stars. You should go there in summer. Otherwise there is only snow to see. In summer it's such a paradise. If you're living in Sweden add this to your bucket list. The road view is fantastic and extremely beautiful. I give five Stars to Abisko waterfall too. Here I have attached some photos for you. You have to take a hike there. Be ready for it. If I saw something ugly, it was big annoying mosquitos all around me asking me to feed them. If I didn't hold tight, sure they take me with them 🤣.
Dmm B — Google review
Abisko national Park has a lot of different paths to walk, each offering a great view no matter the time of year. Went in the autumn before the snow came, and the landscape here is truly unique. A must see in swedish Lapland.
A-Z — Google review
We didn't know about this place and stopped here by an accident – we say a river with a mighty stream. We took a walk along the canyon and discovered the trails, and another waterfall. The place is very picturesque on a sunny day, the water is cristal blue and we were lucky to see it in its full.
Anastasia ( — Google review
Great hiking trails along the river but I don’t recommend to hike the King’s trail in the summer. Lots of mosquitoes around the wet area.

Hewaylage W — Google review
Beautiful in winter, there are many winter hikes available, worth a visit, even if you don’t get the chance to see the aurora!
Natalia S — Google review
Beautiful park offering 5 walking trails. A perfect spot to view the northern lights. There's a tourist information center including a small restaurant next to the park's starting point.

Aurora Borealis Observatory

Resort hotel
Tours
The Aurora Borealis Observatory is a top choice for witnessing the Northern Lights in Norway. The hotel offers upscale apartment-style accommodations with stunning views of the natural phenomenon through large glass panels. Guests can also enjoy amenities such as free food delivery and a convenient area shuttle. In addition to being an ideal location for observing the Northern Lights, the hotel is popular among skiing enthusiasts. Visitors can marvel at the spectacle while relaxing in outdoor hot tubs.
We had the best time staying at the observatory. Our corner room had the most awesome view and the room was spacious, modern and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and dinner was delicious (even without being able to have a drink). We saw wonderful aurora which was amazing. We did read the reviews before arriving and I was a bit worried as there were some unfavorable ones, but there was nothing to be concerned about. We had a great stay!
Sharon M — Google review
My partner and I booked this hotel. We unfortunately had to cancel. We were entitled to a refund under the terms and conditions of the booking. We still have not received this refund. My advice, avoid at all costs.
Jag M — Google review
My friends and I had a great experience! Mary was very easy to communicate with via email regarding logistics, and once we arrived, our driver/aurora tour guide Johannes was so kind, generous, and accommodating that by the end of the trip we considered him a friend! The aurora night tour was the experience of a lifetime and the day tour of Senja was also incredible, even on a rainy day. We went for 3 nights and it felt like enough. The ABO is very easy to get to from Tromso via ferry and Tromso is also highly recommended!
Krista K — Google review
Avoid at all cost. It is a scam. I have been trying over the past 5 month to obtain the refund of my deposit for the booking of a family stay in december 2025.. A cancellation ten month in advance, so according to their own terms I should be entitled to the refund of my deposit. So that is what they told me at the begining when they canceled my stay. Yet over the past 4 month no answer to my phone calls, emails…no refund for the moment.
Florence N — Google review
I am trying to finalise/fix and now probably cancel my booking to this accommodation (if they don't respond to me...) Booked incorrect dates and have contacted them via the specified email address 5+ times across a month to see if they can fix this for me because that's the only way to amend and cancel bookings. I have been completely ignored despite reaching out multiple times. Terrible experience and no customer service without even staying at the accommodation.
E — Google review
This hotel false advertised a lot. We stayed in the "luxury two bedroom suite" which was notated by a piece of paper saying that stapled to the building. The jacuzzi is far from the building - there's no robes or slippers so we never used it. You're given one small bath towel and hand towel per person. There is no conditioner or bottled water. The name made it sound like it focuses on the northern lights but it was really more of an air bnb and the service was some of the worst we've experienced - and we're travel agents having been to 170 countries collectively. The ferry from tromso is cancelled a lot and we had pay a lot for a 4 hour taxi to get there. The northern lights were great the first night. The second day there wasn't much to do if you don't do a tour - we visited in winter and only had snow shoes to use which was fun but we were told the sleds are for kids, there wasn't enough snow for cross country skis yet and bikes were for summer. The rooms are modern but real basic. The beds were comfy but the bathroom had a very strong sewage smell. There was a vent that leaked water on one of us in the middle of the night that they fixed the next day. There is a teepee that they will light up if you ask them to with a fire but there was no hot chocolate or drinks or food offered as advertised. It was a bit self service and the employees did not know how to use it. We asked for a coffee during the day but was told it was closed and then when we asked when it was open we were told it was broken. They said they had no hot chocolate. The restaurant is owned separately and only has food in the morning for breakfast and a few hours in the evening. They don't have their liquor license to serve alcohol despite having wine there which was disappointing - especially when the employees and friends of the employees were drinking wine and cocktails in front of us. It felt very rude. We took a very expensive $50 taxi the 15 mins to town each way because they said there was no one to take us. Definitely don't come here and stay extended time and or without a car. It is a remote stay which makes it easier to see the lights however there is not much to do and you don't have access to food and drinks mostof the day. I was most interested in getting help with my new camera for the northern lights and was excited to have someone to take pics of us and we asked multiple times when the photographer would be there and never got an answer then we were told at 9pm it was the owner and he had left for the night and it needed to be reserved in advance despite asking all day. One of the friends of the owners was there and was able to help a little bit. Overall some of the staff were helpful but some were very rude. It's a remote place without many amenities so if visiting Senja I'd opt for another option.
Kelly C — Google review
My partner and I had the most amazing time during our stay! We were there for 5 nights - originally planning for 2 in the hut and 3 in the luxury panorama apartment. However, due to clouds forecasted the first few nights, we opted to stay all 5 in the apartment. The accommodations were beautiful, and the hot tub was the cherry on top, along with the fireplace. The picture I've attached is the view from the hot tub. During our stay we did one of the hotel Senja tours with Johannes, and also did a northern lights tour with Senja Experience as well as the husky sledding with Senja Husky. I would highly recommend all! We very much enjoyed our time at the restaurant, and enjoyed the hospitality of both Johannes and Mario. The other highlights of the trip were going on a few walks around the property and down the road to the river - it was absolutely stunning, especially with the snow. For recommendations/advice, the main items to be aware of are restaurant hours and alcohol rules. The restaurant only serves breakfast from 8-10am and dinner from 6-8pm. When they picked us up from the ferry from Tromso, the driver made us aware of this so we could stop at the grocery store to stock up on foods/snacks/alcohol to keep in our room. In addition, due to alcohol rules the restaurant is only able to serve alcohol on Friday and Saturday. Overall, I would highly recommend. We enjoyed every part of our stay - from the activities, the restaurant/reception hospitality, the accommodations and even just relaxing in our room while looking at the snow outside was magical.
Lori A — Google review
My Husband and I truly enjoyed our stay here. We originally booked a room in the executive suites, but upgraded to the Luxury Studio Apartment upon arrival after we decided we wanted a private deck and hot tub. The upgrade was worth it!! The apartment was quiet, cozy and warm. The finishings made for a luxurious stay, but the views from the porch were the true luxury! Our included Breakfast was served at the reception building (top level). We felt like Royalty as they served us delicious food immediately upon arrival, where we were seated at a beautiful table in front of a large window with views of the mountains. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Our favorite part was the Norwegian Brown Cheese and yogurt with muesli. The staff have been nothing but polite, attentive and accommodating. The cloud coverage was 100%, so we unfortunately did not see the Northern Lights, however , this would be a great place to see them at the right time. We would absolutely choose to stay here again when we return to Senja.

Polar Park

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Polar Park is a family-friendly zoo and polar park located about two hours away from Tromso. It offers large enclosures where visitors can observe arctic fauna such as wolves, brown bears, lynx, arctic foxes, elk, reindeer, musk-oxen, roe deer and moose. The park also provides guided tours for a more informative experience.
What a great place. We were lucky to be there on a Viking cruise with a guide who was feeding along the way and informing us of the different animals. We got to hear the wolves howl and see most of all the creatures in the natural habitats!!!
Jep R — Google review
The only good thing about this park was that the animals had a lot of space, it was really nice to see. However, it is way overpriced for what you actually got to see. The goats and sheep were right near the entrance and you could even go into the goat enclosure if you wanted. The enclosures are set up in a way that makes it very hard to see the animals. If the price was reduced it wouldn’t have been as bad, but any child would have been exceedingly disappointed with the lack of animals. There was only 1 moose (that we could see), couldn’t see the wolves at all, couldn’t see the reindeer, saw the bears, couldn’t see the Lynx, saw the deer, couldn’t see the Musk Ox.
Molly K — Google review
We had the most incredible experience here! Even with the large, natural enclosures, we saw EVERY animal except for the wolverine. I went in with low expectations because natural habitat zoos give the animals plenty of places to get away and hide from the visitors, but that wasn't the case during our visit. We loved it.
Aimee E — Google review
We visited the Polar park today in the awful rain but still it was a great place to visit just remember your waterproofs of it's raining as it's obvious out in the open. We arrived and we where greeted At the entrance by a very friendly lady who told us all about the park and some advice on how best to spend our time. We spent over two hours walking around the park enjoying seeing the animals though due to the poor weather we couldn't see the Lynx or Wolverine but it's one of those things you have to expect unless you arrive as they are feeding the animals in the morning. We managed to see all the other animals and it was nice to see they had big enclosures in a very natural environment. After getting drenched in the rain we headed back to the cafe and had lunch which was very nice and even tried a reindeer burger which was beautiful. There was also a well stocked gift shop there too if you fancied a trinket for your visit. Overall a really interesting place to go and see some of Norway's wildlife and learn more about them.
Tom B — Google review
Great zoo, must do the tour with a guide. That makes it great, otherwise you would not see the animals at all. As they just want some food, and they can do some tricks as well.
Vincent M — Google review
Park is really nice, great maintained, with a cozy small dining space and souvenir shop at the entrance. On the day of my visit was quite a rain, so I suggest to check up on weather forecast beforehand 😌 If you decide to have a quick bite, reindeer hamburger was 10/10.
Jovanna M — Google review
Make sure you go on the guided tour, our guide was able to get all the animals except the lynx to come out. Otherwise you can spend hours staring through the trees trying to see any animals

Amazing park, you might not see all the animals unless you go with the feeding at 16.30. but in my opinion that is a good thing, the animals can hide and seek rest. They are not on display like a attraction and the animal wellfair seems really really good❤️ i got to see all the animals❤️

Hamn i Senja, Senja Reiseliv (Senja Travel)

Resort hotel
Tours
Waterfront hotel with casual apartments offering dining, a sauna & a hot tub, plus a fishing dock.
Tomas the manager provides extraordinary customer service. My luggage was first sent to the wrong airport. When it was finally located, it was sent to a central location one hour away from Hamn. The delivery company wouldn’t deliver it for at least one more day. Tomas volunteered to personally drive one hour each way to collect my suitcase and bring it to me. I am so grateful for this exceptional service. Plus, the hotel is located in a breathtaking location. Don’t miss the sunset.
Carol M — Google review
Lovely night in this beautiful spot. Coastal views all around, and were exceptional from the hot tubs. Simply stunning. Evening time was spent with some good food, new friends and good hospitality. Now, back on the bike for some more Senha touring. Beautiful.

Nice nice location in Senja, we were here 2024, three nights. Then it was very hot, so a big minus that the air conditioning was not really working. We got back and the room was really hot. I guess No problem like below 23 celcius. The service in reception and restaurant excellent. Good food. Room/apartment was nice and a nice view. The other side of them might be even nicer, we were at the harbour side.
Janne R — Google review
The 1 bedroom suite is great (kitchen, dining, sitting area n balcony),except for the 2 very small beds in d small bedroom. The property is fantastic with very friendly n helpful staff. On our last night there, I saw a whole 180° view of very active dancing auroras from our balcony. It was truly magical and made our stay there memorable!!
Daphne W — Google review
It was a last minute decision to stay in Hamn i Senja, and it was excellent. We took one of the last twin rooms. It is small, was on the first floor and with a small window facing the rocks (not a fjord view). There was enough storage space, the bathroom was modern and the shower worked very well. It is just a bit small for the price you pay. Otherwise our stay was 5 stars. The location is exceptional with a short walk to get midnight sun views, mountain views and the islands. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and the fish soup and Bacalao were excellent. The Fish n Chips was average as the amount of fish was small compared to the amount of batter. It was beginning of the season and the staff seemed to be disorganized and just learning the systems. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choice from fresh fruits to waffles & pancakes. We drank a good coffee latte on the terrace in the sun and it was lovely. One of the better codes we have had in Norway.
Simon R — Google review
We had a first-floor one-bedroom twin bed suite which was spacious and light. The view from the apartment was fantastic and the terrace was a pleasant space to sit out. The area is quiet and peaceful, and the apartment was very private, with nothing overlooking the window or the terrace. Beds were comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There were dirty dishes left in the dishwasher on our arrival. We subsequently discovered the dishwasher wasn't working. The rattan furniture on the terrace was in poor condition and there were no bedside tables, even though there was plenty of room. For some reason we needed to use the key to open the door from the lounge to the bedroom. None of this detracted from what was a very peaceful, enjoyable stay.
John R — Google review
We didn't stay here, but we paid for use of the sauna. We took a cold dip at the docks into water at 11°C and went into the sauna afterwards for 2 hours. Very nice, quiet and relaxing.
Willem B — Google review
We did not stay, we only visited the restaurant. Not so good selection of foods. The dish was supposed to include baked potatoes with aioli, but no aioli was delivered. Also the potatoes were cold and rubber like, not baked. Service was good and views also.

Nedre fjellheisstasjon Narvik

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
Nedre Fjellheisstasjon Narvik is a must-visit destination, offering a breathtaking 656m ascent via cable car. Visitors can enjoy the stunning views of Narvik from the top, with the convenience of a restaurant and comfortable seating areas. Families with children will appreciate the playground area. For those who prefer not to take the gondola, there's an option to hike up as well.
We had amazing off-piste day with Oscar. Perfect and untouched powders off the piste with interesting forest runs. The unique night ski with headlights is super fun! Highly recommended.
Alice X — Google review
The location of this ski resort is amazing. I loved spending a day here, however it was very disappointing to learn on arrival that there was a skiing competition that was blocking 3 of the 5 available slopes. They eventually opened them gradually. Also, keep in mind there are 2 lifts closed for the season (see attached photo). I don't think this is very clean on their website.

Amazing views from the top. Worth every penny!

Ski in the view of the sea, snowy mountains and the star, even if you are lucky, the northern light. Stunning runs.
Kalie秀妍 Y — Google review
The gondolas up to the top gives a beautiful view of Narvik and the sea. Each gondola has 10 seat. 👍🚡 The restaurant at the top only serves simple foods and drinks. 👎 Out of 3 automates for buying parking and gondola tour only 1 worked! 🅿️👎
Steen J — Google review
Rental equipment is very low quality and very expensive for that also. Additionally, the person at the rental was extremely rude of us. He did not understand our English and since he did not understand, he made fun of us. If you can't talk English properly, it's you I should make fun of. Sorry, we definitely won't take a vacation here again. Great job.
Youkichirou M — Google review
Enjoyed the 10 seater gondola ride, took under 5 minutes. No big queues and still enough space with skis and snowboards. People are friendly and staff are amazing to get you sorted for your rental gear. Day pass and rental is all fairly priced. The view from the top is amazing!

History museum
War museum
Narvik War Museum is a compelling destination for history enthusiasts, offering insights into the impact of war. The museum delves into the Nazi-Germany's attack on Northern Norway and the subsequent occupation, as well as broader implications of warfare. It features exhibitions focused on the Narvik Campaign during World War II, showcasing authentic artifacts, photographs, and narratives that provide a poignant glimpse into the past. The immersive experience incorporates multimedia elements to transport visitors to that era.
An excellent museum that mixes classic cabinet style exhibits with excellent new audio visual content. Well laid out. Some fantastic artefacts and, while the focus is the Narvik campaign, it has context for the broader Norwegian experience of WW2.
Dex M — Google review
One of many WWII museums in Norway, like always with a local touch; here about the battle over Narvik, massively destroyed. A must for anyone interested in our recent history as it relates to occupation of other countries.
Sebastian R — Google review
Learning more about Norway’s history completely changed my road trip experience through the country. The museum clearly shows Norway’s position during one of the most significant wars in human history. Understanding the past, the battles, and the losses also makes us reflect on the present, the future, and the value of life. If you get the chance, it’s definitely worth setting aside a few hours to dive deeper into this part of Norwegian history. The museum is very complete, with artifacts from the time such as letters, radios, clothing, photos, audio recordings, weapons, and even vehicles. It was an intense and transformative visit that I truly recommend!
Luana M — Google review
We had the most wonderful experience in this poorly advertised Museum. We were lucky enough to have a private after-hours tour with the very knowledgeable Alf. We had no idea that we would be so thoroughly engrossed for about 1 ½ hours. The original items housed here are incredible - weapons, uniforms, battle and invasion information and pieces from daily lives. These are things we had only ever seen in movies. Really nice presentation and a really thoughtful, well-curated Museum. We couldn’t believe how small and inadequate the signage is- this is an amazing Museum and deserves more notice.
Lee — Google review
The museum has a strong focus on the World War II fighting in and around Narvik … to gain control over the harbor (and the steel that was shipped here). Towards the end it asks: How far could you go to for what you believe is right? Difficult question, isn‘t it!? We recommend visiting the museum while in Narvik, in particular if you plan to visit Kiruna.
F V — Google review
While the museum was not that large, it was a informative and enjoyable visit.
Alwin — Google review
Excellent museum. Superbly laid out with engaging exhibits and an extraordinary number of local artifacts from WWII. (Even though I'm not a militaria buff, it really captured my interest. It really brings to life the background to Narvik's WWII story by explaining the military campaigns and the impact on the local people). Recommended.
Phil L — Google review
This is a Museum with a story telling the World War II from Norways perspective. Incredible artefacts from the war, including replicas, regenerated voice of war victims, shows and exhibitions. It's best experienced with reading through the captions and listening to the voiceovers on the 'Euseum' app. A third floor has a more general view on wars and the perspectives on killing other human beings. Must visit!

Brought my daughter here for an Easter Sunday. Asked if the priest could baptize her with the other children during the mass but apparently it wasn’t appropriate so I don’t know what they are doing here, but it’s not God’s work. It’s a nice museum but it’s run by a bunch of charlatans that do not understand anything about what the church should be. Stay away if you appreciate anything holy! There are plenty of other places to visit.

Rather plain looking Medieval church built since 14th century. I did not see inside , it was closed. There are many headstones in the surrounding cemetery. There is a monument for Russian prisoners of wars died during Nazi occupation. The church is on the water edge and it is serene and beautiful.

Lovely church but as a non believer, I did not really want to waste time sitting through a service, whish was a mandatory part of out tour. Would have liked more information on history of the church and it's fortification, which is unusual for a church.

The bathroom was not it had piss all over the toilet and the ground please fix it + when I orded it took me about 30 minutes to get my food, the walls are too old and service was slow but the rest was nice I recommend to add a fun long slide. 3 ⭐️

Grottebadet is placed in an underground cave, what makes it special and different than other water parks. There are different pools to choose between in Grottebadet. For example the racing pool (which also has a 1, 3 and 5 meter jump), the hot pool, or the normal big pool with a big slide and waves. If you are hungry you can also buy food in the small restaurant which is placed next to the big pool. The prices are a little bit high, but that is normal. It is a great place to visit with your family at any day of the week.

Old pool, mold on the walls. Persistent smell of chlorine. This place needs major repairs. I do not recommend.

It is a unique place for swimming, man made cave like. I just hope they allow people to bring their own food since the cafe is too expensive and kinda unhealthy.

Very nice water park, a good way to both relax and having fun with friends or family! Watchout though, the closing time is 20.00 but they will take you out around 19.30 to do the cleanings. The staff anyway is very polite and nice and the location in an underground cave is very impressive!! If you go there late you can pay only the evening ticket which is around 95 nok.

Nestled just a kilometer south of the town entrance on the way to Bleik, Spaceship Aurora is an exciting destination for space enthusiasts and families alike. This innovative center features a captivating 16-minute widescreen film that delves into the mesmerizing aurora borealis and highlights Norway's significant contributions to space research.
Fun experience. The first place I've seen fully utilizing the fact that pretty much everyone has a smart phone, sincethe audio guide is simply a webpage. It's very comfortable to use your own headset and phone to add to the exhibition. Without the audioguide it would have maybe been a bit too little. Despite the size of the exhibition it is good and very interactive. The films were very good. I found the two first to be more interesting than the last. So you can consider leaving after the first two.
Joakim S — Google review
I got a bit disappointed by the fact many exhibition items were malfunctioning or not working at all, and by the unsurprising technology shown here. I mean this is a space center after all... Also like other said, the price for the entrance is just bonkers. My kids 2 and 4 had a great time in the interactive climbing wall though. (I hope this is a constructive feedback, Andoya Space)

Way to expensive price to do «the trip to Mars» and it’s for kids. Not war I was expecting at all from this «museum».
Thomas T — Google review
Very nice place to visit, especially with kids.
Stanislav L — Google review
Paid 625 NOK for two adults and a kid to see what felt like the world’s tiniest museum and a short movie about the Northern Lights. Blink and you’ve seen it all. If you’re hoping for an epic aurora adventure, this isn’t it—unless your idea of excitement is squinting at a few displays and wondering where the rest of the place went. Save your kroner for something that lasts longer than your coffee break.
Eric H — Google review
VR experience is very fun, as well as the exhibition. Different pedagogical activities to play with. Very nice moment.
Pierrick M — Google review
I got an welcome of a weird smell not sure what it was do not want to know that it was. We bought tickets that was way overpriced. We bought the travel to mars tickets 400nok for one ADULT! And 225nok for an child. (9-16) there was some uniforms in shitty condition. Sure the training was sort of fun but not really. When we came into the spaceship there were seats with seatbelts. I thought there was gonna be some vibration or get thrown. But no why is there seatbelts then? And then came the last room. You got some vr's mine was a little bit destroyed but still worked. You controlled sone robots surprisingly that was the best place to be. Would I come back? No if you have kids under 9 they could have fun but no. Was it worth it? No there is nothing special there you can learn it on YouTube or search it up on Google. The rating is really bad you should step up your game with this. Or lower the price. Waste of time and money.

Wow! What a trip and a must do. We wanted to see the puffins, and boy did we see them. There were 1000s of them on the water, taking flight, flying by & above and diving. We also saw 11 eagles soaring above the island waiting for a takeaway. Unfortunately the eagles have 2 takeaway puffins a day. There are 50000 pairs on the island or out fishing during the 4 month breeding season. You go out on an old small fishing boat. The skipper and guide have been doing it for 25 years so they really know their stuff about the puffins and the island. Even though the conditions were windy and rough the skipper did a really good job to get us up close to the puffins and the island. The boat only takes 12 therefore you need to book your ticket through their website in advance.

Lucked out with excellent weather. The crew was awesome and informative. The birds are amazing. Wish I had the right camera equipment! The weather changed rapidly as we came in. Amazing experience to see the birds and the weather!

Can highly recomment, despite not so perfect weather conditions, it was absolutely worthwhile going out on the boat. The tour started exactly on time, Peter gave very good information about the Puffins and all other birds, the captain did a very good job keeping the boat a steady as possible. Thank you for the great experience.
Bab D — Google review
We had a wonderful time, and it was one of the highlights of our trip for sure. The guide was so knowledgeable and gave some really interesting facts and the captain was also so lovely! The sea was a bit rough on the way to the island meaning we only managed to take pictures with one hand but who needs pictures! :) cute, cute puffins and majestic eagles galore :) the memories are forever in our minds. To top it up my granddaughter who was celebrating her 8th birthday (this was one of her presents by choice) got a book with beautiful pictures of all these lovely creatures :)
Maria A — Google review
What a great adventure, thank you! The guide was really nice, together with the captain of the ship they took us to the Bleik søya. That is the mountain where all the puffins are nesting. 50.000 pairs, so 100.000 bird are nesting on this mountain! What an nice view and experience. The Sea eagles we could easily spot, they eat the Puffins as they like them so much… there is a book with pictures you can buy, I would recommend that and just enjoy the safari, the book has way better pictures then you can make. See the last e pictures.

Review: Puffin Safari – A Flappin’ Good Time We picked the sunniest day for our puffin safari—because let’s face it, even seabird fans need to soak up some rays before soaking in puffin facts. The captain, who looked suspiciously like my old headmaster, Mr. Bonfeild—cheerful, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly loved what he did. That goes for both my teacher and the captain. He navigated the waters with ease and a good sense of humour. Safe to say, he passed with flying colours. (Puffin pun) Our guide, Linea, was fantastic too— informative and quick to point out puffins, eagles, and other local birdlife. The puffins were absolute stars—bobbing, diving, and flapping about like they owned the place. Honestly, they were beak performance artists. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we were served fresh cod, with a postcard-worthy beach as the backdrop. It was a true cod classic moment. In short: birds, sun, sea, smiles—this tour was the real squawk of the town. Highly recommend if you want to feel puffinately delighted by nature.
Ben C — Google review
It was a great experience, the captain and the guide were very kind and knowledgeable. We talked with the captain about the differences of our countries and he was really interested and we appreciated it. We saw many puffins, eagles and other birds. To have an even greater experience we suggest to go after 16/17.
Pier B — Google review
Great cruise! We saw many different birds. Not only great puffins, but also eagles, cormorants, seagulls, oystercatchers, guillemots and birds attacking puffins to get fish. The guide and the captain were great. They know a lot about birds, and the island. They showed us different parts of islands. We really had great time! Higly recommend this puffin safari 😃

The museum is amazing. I am an airline pilot myself and must say I was amazed, especially the military aviation section. The U-2 Dragon Lady, one of my all-time favorite was a huge surprise to me! There is really nothing to complain about. I did notice in the civil aviation section that the dates were a bit out of order in terms of following it chronologically (the dates were correct), and I also noticed a complete lack of mention of Santos Dumont, the first pilot to start and land a self-propelled aircraft. Be that as it may, I’d still rate it 100%

The museum displays aircraft from different eras, starting from the first aviation pioneers to modern military and civilian aircraft. The level of preservation of many exhibits is particularly impressive, allowing one to understand and appreciate the technical achievements of different times. The museum also offers unique opportunities for learning and entertainment, including simulated flights and educational programs. This makes it an ideal place for family leisure, where both children and adults can find something interesting and informative. The Aviation Museum in Bodø is undoubtedly a place worth visiting. It offers an extensive collection that amazes with its scale and diversity, and provides deep knowledge about the world of aviation. It's a place where history meets modernity, creating a unique and inspiring adventure for curious minds of all ages.

Thank you for the great experience of climbing the Svartisen Glacier. This day will remain unforgettable for all of us! On the one hand, the beauty and on the other hand, the drama of the melting glacier. Thank you for showing us this with so much joy and passion!

We had a very disappointing experience with the Svartisen Glacier trip organized by Meløy Adventure. We booked this trip a month in advance and were looking forward to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Unfortunately, it turned into a frustrating and poorly managed ordeal. We arrived at the designated meeting point on time, only to find that there was no guide present. After contacting Meløy Adventure, we were told the guide would be at the harbor. Trusting this information, we purchased ferry tickets out of our own pocket (not included in the original booking) and waited at the harbor—still no guide. After multiple phone calls and further confusion, we were finally informed that no guide would be coming at all. In return, we were offered alternative activities like canoeing, e-bikes in Glomfjord, or an eagle safari. These suggestions felt more like a last-minute patch-up than a real alternative—especially since we had specifically come here to visit the glacier. The only thing we took away from this experience was disappointment. We sincerely hope to receive a full refund for the trip itself—though even that doesn’t include the added cost of ferry tickets we shouldn’t have had to buy. Overall, we cannot recommend this trip or company based on our experience.

We had the RIB ride to Rødøy. Except for the hike which was amazing, our guide was super friendly, added interesting facts along the way, and gave us extra tips for the rest of our trip. I highly recommend going on a trip to Rødøy with them!

Put together a super three-day adventure tour along the beautiful Helgeland coast. Safe navigation and super local knowledge meant that we had maximum use of the time, with little waiting. Great climbing on Rødøyløva, Gin tasting atMyken, gun shooting in Ørnes, trail cycling, Rib riding, and a fabulous climb on the Blackice (Svartisen). We also had a great overnight stay in Glomfjord, where we took sauna and swam in the sea with eagles around us. Recommends everyone to use Meløy Adventure (Øyvind), to plan your next adventure.

No show and terrible communication We had booked a glacier hike for two on Svartisen for Monday, August 4, with a scheduled meeting time at 9:15 AM. Unfortunately, the tour was canceled over the phone at 9:28 AM — after we had already boarded the ferry. We completely understand that weather conditions can lead to cancellations. However, the way this situation was handled was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. 1. We arrived at the ferry terminal in Holandsvika at 9:15 as agreed, but there was no guide present. At 9:28, while already on the ferry, we received a call from the tour company saying there might be issues due to rain and high water levels near the glacier. We were told to wait for an update in 30 minutes, as there was a chance the hike could be adjusted. Based on this, we stayed on the ferry. 2. We disembarked and walked towards the glacier. No follow-up call came after the promised 30 minutes, so we called them ourselves. We were asked whether it was windy by the glacier — only then did we realize that the guide wasn’t even at the glacier and that the tour was effectively not going to happen. We had to ask directly whether the tour was canceled to finally get a confirmation. 3. That afternoon, we tried calling several times to reschedule or request a refund, but no one picked up, and we never received a call back. My partner had to call from their phone to get a response. Canceling a tour right at departure time without any staff present at either the ferry or the glacier, and while already knowing the tour would likely not proceed, is simply not acceptable. A call just five minutes earlier could have saved us the ferry tickets and the trouble. Letting us believe the tour might still happen and then going silent with no response to calls is extremely unprofessional. We are still awaiting written confirmation that we will receive a full refund for this trip and we are contacting the Consumer Cancel to file a complaint. I can see from a previous review that this isn’t the first time that this has happened. It is simply an unacceptable way to manage a business and I cannot recommend that you use them.

A very frivolous approach. The glacier tour was arranged very far in advance, the entire tour of Norway was set up to see Svartisen. After reaching the ship, we call MeløyAdventure, we are informed that the guide is waiting on the ship, of course there was no guide. The whole day was ruined, a big disappointment with the company's approach. I do not recommend

We had a great day with our guide Ulrik on Svartisen glacier! He is a very knowledgable guy, and explained a lot about the glacier and the surroundings. The tour was tailored to our liking as we were just with two. We had nice convesations about generic stuf in Norway and he tipped us to visite a bakery in Lom. Great tip Ulrik! Thanls for the great experience! Amanda and Marc
Marc K — Google review
I would advice against using this company. We had booked a 7 hour glacier hike, but the guide never showed up, cancelled the trip late, so that we were already on the ferry to Svartisen. He let us believe that the trip may still be happening for a long time, then eventually cancelled when asked directly 3 hours later. He’s not answering the phone so we’re not sure we are getting our money back. We are taking this to the Norwegian consumer council.

Austerdalsisen

Glacier
Nature & Parks
Mountains
(Translated by Google) The road to Austerdalsisen was not easy. We tripped over fallen logs and branches, jumped over streams (we later crossed them)… never giving up on the goal. Only our trekking shoes and a third of our calves, which were mercilessly drowned by the local swamps, gave way. The forest ended and the terrain changed. We started (about another 3 km to the destination) to climb the rocky surface. On the left side we passed massive rapids and waterfalls flowing from the glacial lake. We realized how small and powerless we were against the forces of nature… and we still didn't know what was coming next in this untouched wilderness. We continued (jumped) along the red-colored rock formations… an unreal landscape that was once covered by a glacier. We reached Austerdalsvatnet lake. Here the tongue of the glacier was shown to us in its full beauty. We reached the Austerdalsisen slide. I cannot describe the feeling we experienced. The gentlemen pulled out a Tulamorka (bleeeee, I don't normally drink it) and scraped some ice from the glacier into the shots. We tapped and looked down at the huge, multi-colored mass with complete humility. (Original) Cesta k Austerdalsisen nebyla jednoduchá. Klopýtali jsme přes padlé kmeny a větve, přeskakovali potoky (později už jsme jimi procházeli)… nevzdávali se cíle. Vzdaly se pouze naše trekové boty a třetina lýtek, které nemilosrdně utápěly místní bažiny. Les skončil a terén se změnil. Začali jsme (cca další 3 km až do cíle) stoupat po skalnatém povrchu. Po levé straně jsme míjeli mohutné peřeje a vodopády, stékající z ledovcového jezera. Uvědomili jsme si, jak jsme proti přírodním silám malincí a bezmocní… a to jsme ještě nevěděli, co bude v této nedotčené divočině následovat. Pokračovali (poskakovali) jsme dál po rudě zbarvených skalních útvarech… neskutečnou krajinou, kterou kdysi pokrýval ledovec. Dostali jsme se k jezeru Austerdalsvatnet. Zde se nám v plné kráse ukázal jazyk ledovce. Dorazili jsme až ke splazu Austerdalsisen. Nedokáži popsat pocit, který jsme prožívali. Pánové vytáhli Tulamorku (blééé, normálně ji nepiji) a do panáků naškrábali trochu ledu z ledovce. Ťukli jsme si a s naprostou pokorou shlíželi na tu obrovskou, různobarevnou masu.

(Translated by Google) On the way to the starting point you will regularly find signs "P Svartisen". When you get there, you find that the parking lot is closed and there are no boats. You can park on the street beforehand, but expect a few campers there. The path from the "parking lot" on the street to the boat launch is about 2km on a gravel road. From there it's about 4km along the lake and then another 3km to the tongue. We went there by bike, which is highly recommended for the route to the boat dock. There was/is a campsite at the boat launch that is closed. Everything looks pretty run down. Will it open again? The path along the lake is overgrown and extremely (!) muddy. You're more likely to wade than hike. We are by no means fans of tourist boats, but in hindsight we would have taken the boat (if it was running). Once you get to the end of the lake, the path becomes dry and rocky. You are in a beautiful glacier landscape with rushing water and a great glacial lake. There is a small shelter within sight of the tongue. Now anyone who has ever seen a glacier will be a little disappointed. It's still nice, but in my opinion not worth the effort and the terrible muddy path. You can trudge back again...

Havmannen, also known as the Man of the Sea, is a striking sculpture by Anthony Gormley located in Mo Rana. The sculpture stands with its back to the town, gazing out over the fjord and creates an eerie presence in the waterfront. Visitors can enjoy great views through a glass panel and relax on built-in recliner sun loungers while taking in the scenery. The area offers a beautiful coastal setting and is considered a perfect spot for witnessing the northern lights.
The sky was perfect for pictures.

A haunting Anthony Gormley statue looking out to sea from Mo I Rana. There’s a glass panel to allow for great views, with some Norwegian inscriptions. If you get here earlier in the day, there are some built in recliner sun loungers which would be great to catch some rays. There are other seating options too, should you need a driving break like us before heading to the Arctic Circle centre! @heightofeurope 🇬🇧> 🇳🇴 > 🇪🇸 There are no toilets nearby.

Great rafting activity on our way south. It is a highlight in our trip!! We had a great time and a lot of fun. The owners and our guide Vetle are very professional. The river is a combination of rapids and calm waters. I was afraid of the water temperature, but with the equipment they provide, it is absolutely fine. Thank you for this great experience!! 😀

Our group were lucky to kayak 7 days of grade 4 with the calm and kind River North team, who guided us across the exceptional offerings which Trofors and surrounding areas had to offer. Mariann, Joe, Rhys and Zach fostered a sense of confidence and safety whilst encouraging each of us to push to the upper end of our comfort zone. The team were both flexible and attentive to detail to make each day special (e.g. with media, swapping our boats to play boats to make sections more challenging, doing shuttles at different sections for members with varying energy levels). Grateful for the week we received and hope to be back soon.

The Petter Dass Museum, located in Alstahaug south of Sandnessjoen, is a stunning showcase of avant-garde architecture and offers a fascinating insight into the life and work of the medieval Norwegian poet Petter Dass. The museum is situated amidst breathtaking granite surroundings, with pleasant grounds that include a walk to the lake, church, cemetery, grass-roofed buildings, and picnic benches. It holds great historical and architectural significance and boasts knowledgeable staff.
Beautiful views, cafe and Museam. Well worth a visit of you're in the area.
Callum M — Google review
We stumbled across this place while driving the Kystricksveien. As we are British atheists we skipped the museum as the religious poetry would probably be wasted on us. However, I was blown away with how they had carved out the granite to fit the museum in between. The stone is just stunning and it's amazing to think of the work involved to do this. The grounds were also very pleasant with a walk to the lake, church, cemetery, grass roofed buildings and picnic benches. The cafe was also great, with a nice view of the water and good selection of cakes, that the staff helpfully talked us through. The lunch menu also looked good.

I am very happy each time I come here where my great great grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousin rest in peace. The fact it's where the Poet Peter Daas was a Priest does not matter to me one bit. It's very serene, and beautiful right on the North Artic Sea.

OK. The buildings and area around was clean and tidy. Cafeteria and toilets, OK. The museum building it self is special in it self, whit the clean rock surface at the sides. All in all I will stretch to 4 stars.

So glad we booked. After driving for a number of hours we stopped in for 3 hours of walking, animals, food and some fun family orientated rides and attractions that our daughter really enjoyed. The park isn't huge, but that means you can manage to walk it easily in a few hours, although we could also have spent longer. We saw a few of the animals, but we late for the feedings. We had a snack at the restaurant and the food was good and relatively fast. There was hand disinfectant at every station and everything was clean. Some rides were closed due to Covid19, which was a bummer, but better to be safe. If we are ever passing by again we will definately stop. Well worth the visit.

Nice place for children in the age 3+. Plenty animals and activities. Even if it consumes some money to spend a day there for a family, it is a memory that children remembers. Some activities has to be paid for extra, in addition to the entrance fee, like the Zip-line (photo), the climbing area and the internal shuttle train. The crash-boats were fun, but there was also a lot of people waiting for thos, so expect some waiting there. Also the downhill carting/roller coaster was fun for the kids, but might not be something for those below 4years old. The day we were there, it was more than 30deg temperature...

Torghatten

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Torghatten, a remarkable granite mountain located on Torget island, is renowned for its naturally formed tunnel that pierces through the center of the peak. The hole measures 160m long, 35m high and 20m wide and can be accessed via a 20-minute walking track from the base. For those seeking moderate treks, options include Nordlandsruta from Bjornfjell to Borgefjell National Park or exploring mountains along the coast like Torghatten.
Although we were not able to land on the island, the site from the ship was quite spectacular. It is a granite mountain located on the island of Torget and has what is The Hole which is actually a natural tunnel, 160 meters long, 35 meters high, and 15-20 meters wide. From a geological perspective it was formed during the Scandinavian Ice. But I like the legend which says that the hole was created by a troll's hat turning into stone.

Well worth stiff uphill hike along a carefully constructed flight of stone stairs to the naturally created rectangular hole through the mountain and beautiful view of the skerries to the west and the fjord to the east. Not to be missed!! You can even meet some interesting creatures along the way.

Seen a picture about the hill 5 years ago, as the sun's flares shooting trough the eye. Just couldn't forget it, so after research, this year decided to visit. Well, It's a must see to all Norway enthusiast!!! Worth all the efforts and the hike, easy parking. 2-3 hours the hard trail up and the comfortable trail down and around the hill. Walking through the eye is astonishing, just like being in a humongous holy rock cathedral. Mind changing experience about nature's forces along with all the natural wonder's of Norway. I'll be glad for the rest of my life about being there!
Matt S — Google review
Torghatten is one unique wonder of the all mighty nature. Climb to top of the Torghatten is recommended if you have enough time. On good weather views are awesome. Trail to 'hole' is well maintained, but not suitable for people, who has problems with knees or walking, since there is lots of stone steps to climb and descent.
Mikko M — Google review
Its a horrible tourist trap. Perfectly crafted stairs, pathways thought the entire tunnel and full of the elderly shuffling along. Compared to everything else Norway has to offer its dreadful.

Amasing place. Have been there at the 10th February. Lots of snow and -16celcius. But still all the roads were cleared of snow, even the path that leads from the road up the mountain was cleaned of snow. Interesting plce to see and visit. Highly recomend!

Place rather an embarrassment; there's STAIRS going up to the hole! Was in Brønnøysund for 2 days (Aug 23-24, 2023) to get my bicycle repaired. The bike shop that did it was already done by noon the 2nd day, so I thought: Why not go to the hole mountain everyone's so eager to see. And well, I'm not a landmark hunter for a reason, & the place, sure enough, confirmed my bias. Just see for yourself:

It's amazing to walk through this natural cave that takes you through the mountain with completely different vistas either side. It's a 45 minute walk up to the cave and a little challenging in places. They are in the process of building a staircase though to make it more accessible.

Don't be discouraged by the inconspicuous access road up the mountain or the tight turns on the way. This is a must see historical sight, particularly for those interested in WW2 history. True to its name, this site is a fortress of significant size with a maze of tunnels.

Free parking, free museum and visit to the fortress, free toilets. It's fun to walk around the underground tunnels. The opening hours of the cafe are unknown - updated information is needed on site, on Facebook, on Google and on the website. Today the cafe was not open.

An interesting and unique place for military history and World war fans. This fortress carved out of the rocky mountain was a bunker back in the day. You can go through the tunnels and various rooms and observation posts. There is a free mini museum with minimal description of the events that happened here.

We were on our way to Sweden annd passed the signs for the fortress. We thought "why not. Stretch our legs little." After a dirt road and a verry cool but steap uphill climb with our old campervan we reached the parking with a big sign "NO CAMPING". No problem. Let's have a look. 1st we went to a house which shows a short but clear history of when, why and how it was built, + who was there. Not only the Norwegian but also German and Sweedish armies. The exposition shows equipment, arms and uniforms of all sides. All information is Norwegian but there are booklets on stands with the main stories and information in English. After the museum there was another building which housed some nicely restored artillery, I believe for temporary storage, but we were free to have a look anyway. Than we went uphill to the actual fortress. It is really impressive. The size of it and the atmosphere you sence when you wondering through each room, stairway and corridor. You can climb up into the command towers via old rusty ladders. Climb granite stairs and walk around the turrets. You can also wander around outside along the walls and on top of the fortress. It's unbelievable thinking how it must have been, being there whilst the place was being besieged, shelled and bombed. You're allowed to go almost anywhere and all of this is amazingly free. It is all ran by volunteers and everything looks well kept after. What an absolute gem. Takk to all involved for making and keeping this site accessible for the public to see. I've never seen anything like it.
