Brilliant museum and exhibition. Unfortunately, air condition was turned off and there were leaking in the new part in the left part of the window (with great view of nearby river). PS: the lack of air condition ruined our experience and we expect that it could ruin display items too. Hope that this issue will be fixed.

Museums
The Gosudarstvennyy Memorial'nyy I Prirodnyy Muzey-Zapovednik I.s. Turgeneva "Spasskoye-Lutovinovo" is a historical and natural reserve museum complex located in the Oryol region, about 60 kilometers from Oryol and 12 kilometers from Mtsensk.
(Translated by Google) On December 3, 2024, a wonderful excursion to the I.S. Museum-Reserve was held for the team of the Amchanochka Volunteer Group, which helps soldiers of the Northern Military District. Turgenev Spasskoye - Lutovinovo. To say that we enjoyed the excursion is an understatement! It was a wonderful excursion! It would seem that we know a lot about Spassky and Turgenev, since we are his fellow countrymen. But they listened as if for the first time! We felt that the museum staff truly valued what they were talking about. They are the true guardians of the history of this unique reserve and bearers of its richest traditions, cultural and natural values. No modern methods of storing information can replace the special atmosphere of communication in which people who find themselves within the walls of the Turgenev House, in the famous park of the estate, are immersed. We involuntarily remembered the words of the great countryman: “When you are in Spassky, bow from me to the house, the garden, my young oak tree, bow to the homeland...”. And we bowed... “Amchanochka” cordially thanks the administration of the Spasskoye-Lutovinovo Museum-Reserve: director Sergei Afanasyevich Stupin and deputy director Tatyana Aleksandrovna Basova, as well as Yuri Ivanovich Zuev, Victoria Eduardovna Gubanova, for providing the opportunity for our group to visit the family estate of I.S. Turgenev. I would also like to note that the excursion conducted by museum employees Alexei Gennadievich Merkulov and Elena Leonidovna Selivanova is an amazing opportunity to touch the literary shrine of the Mtsensk land. With such professionals, time flew by instantly, we learned a lot of new and interesting things. We wish the museum staff good health, prosperity, new creative victories and success in such an important and worthy cause!

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place, first of all, it is a large, well-kept old park. But, probably, the only original exhibit of the museum is the famous Turgenev oak. The estate itself was on fire and was being rebuilt. According to the guide, only the outbuilding remained. The estate is painted in bright colors. Turgenev rarely visited the estate; he preferred Paris. The museum itself has a good European-quality renovation; there are several original pieces of furniture from the Turgenev family. Is photography prohibited inside the museum?! although there is nothing special to shoot. Very beautiful Church of the Transfiguration. Be sure to visit it.

(Translated by Google) Spasskoye-Lutovinovo... How can you not write stories here!? Silence, tranquility, centuries-old trees, an oak tree planted by Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev, Savina pond... If you are lucky enough to visit the estate, book a comprehensive excursion, it lasts a little more than two hours and costs a penny (380 or 500 rubles, depending on the exposition). It’s better in the summer, a walk through the park takes up the main part of the excursion and be sure to take a ride through the park with a cab driver, it costs only 150 rubles!!!. Unfortunately, the manor house is closed for two years for restoration, but this does not spoil the overall picture. Be sure to take a walk through the village, at the other end there is a little chapel, the history of which will be told to you by the guide in the estate itself, if you ask him about it. Well, and ... "bow to my young man, bow to my homeland..." three to five hours will be enough to visit the estate, there is no hotel in Spassky, there are no restaurants either, 10 km away is the ancient city of Mtsensk on the Zusha River, you can have a snack there before returning home and ... visits to Tolstoy in Yasnaya Polyana, which is on the way to Moscow.

(Translated by Google) It is necessary to take a tour, because there is no other way to get to the house-museum. Some interesting details from the guide. It was a routine in the house that at a certain time everyone would go downstairs to the dining room to eat. It was believed that those staying in the house remained in the status of a guest for 3 days, and they were given concessions - they were fed when they were hungry. On the 4th day, those living were considered members of the household and could no longer claim lunch/dinner at an unspecified time. Many of Turgenev’s friends visited the house - Nekrasov, Fet, and Leo Tolstoy especially loved the estate. Turgenev himself also loved the family nest very much, and in his letters to Flaubert he often described the estate. In general, 5 of the writer’s 6 novels were written here. In the office there is a very beautiful Byzantine image of the Savior. Despite the fact that Turgenev was not a believer, he ordered that the image not be removed from the estate. Unfortunately, out of 20 thousand exhibits, only 5 thousand remain, the rest were lost. The original books are exhibited in the Turgenev house-museum in Orel. On the territory of the estate there is the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, consecrated in 1809, as well as a chapel where the ashes of the founder of the estate are buried. I.S. Turgenev came to Spasskoye-Lutovinovo for the last time in 1881. In the spring of 1882 he became very ill, and on September 3 he died of spinal cancer. In the park on the territory there is an oak tree that Turgenev planted with his own hands in his youth. It is now one of the tallest and widest-girth trees on the entire estate. The oak is about 200 years old. The park itself occupies 40 hectares, mixed, the alleys are linden, lined with the Roman numeral XIX. Previously, the park was home to about 42 species of birds. For entertainment (summer), you can ride boats, ride a carriage, or ride horses. Practical information. Getting there by public transport is very inconvenient; the bus from the Mtsensk bus station takes about half an hour and runs a couple of times a day. One at lunchtime, one at evening. The final stop is Spasskoye-Lutovinovo, you need to get off a little earlier, ask the locals, they will tell you which stop is closest to the ticket office. On the way back, it makes sense to walk past the exhibition center in the direction of the school to the memorial to those killed in the Great Patriotic War. The stop is located near the store, so you can grab a seat on the bus.

(Translated by Google) Hi all! It just so happened that living 130 km from the Root Desert, I was here only twice, in 2006 and 08/15/2021. It’s not easy to convey the beauty and atmosphere of this place in words! Compared to 2006, Korennaya has, of course, changed a lot. A lot of renovations were done to the buildings. Everything is painted and cleaned! Everywhere is clean! In the main church, the entire right wall is currently being painted, but services continue! We went by car. The parking lot is big! Comfortable! Lots of souvenirs, icons, books, etc. There are hotels. The territory of Korenaya is very large! There are two fonts. One is by the river, and the other is in the forest! Those who are brave can test themselves with ice water :). I swam and I will say that after about ten minutes you feel as if the sea is knee-deep! :) Advice! Swim, at least try to take a dip in the plunge pool near the river, they say the water is warmer there. But there are always long queues there! I swam in the forest, where the queue is shorter and the water comes straight from a source in the ground! She's icy! I was able to dive waist deep only on the 10th attempt... :) In general, friends, I won’t write much. All this needs to be seen and, most importantly, felt for yourself!!! Be sure to come!!! Even if not for prayer, but at least for rest and correct, good thoughts that will definitely appear when you set foot on the land of the Kursk Root Hermitage! Good luck everyone! p.s. on the territory of Korennaya, there is a place where they sell bread, delicious buns with a variety of fillings and of course fruit drinks and kvass are also very tasty!!! and whoever is interested in how things are going there during the Pandemic, I’ll say this, yes, there are signs everywhere about the availability of masks and gloves!!! But we walked without them, like almost all people! No one swore or demanded obligatory observance of the mask regime! If anyone has any questions, I will definitely answer them!

A.K. Tolstoy Park Museum is a delightful destination that beautifully blends nature and art, making it an ideal spot for families and anyone looking to unwind. Nestled in a lush green setting, this park features whimsical wooden sculptures inspired by Russian fairy tales, creating a magical atmosphere as you stroll along its wide paths. The estate itself offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of the renowned writer Ivan Tolstoy, showcasing well-preserved elements of Russian nobility's past.
Very nice place on a hot summer day. The trees give shade, and you can get delicious food and beverage for little money. The wooden sculptures are very artistic, are very well maintained, and base mostly on Russian fairy tale characters. For children, there are many entertainment possibilities for a small fee. Also, there is a small gallery, where you can get very nice paintings. It's a pity, though, that the forest museum building burned down some years ago, it contained some impressive dioramas. But the park is nevertheless recommended.

(Translated by Google) Znamensky Cathedral The main cathedral of Course was built at the beginning of the 19th century in honor of the victory in the Patriotic War. The majestic cathedral in the classical style amazes the imagination, since the size of the dome is comparable to the cathedrals of St. Petersburg. A wonderful building with only one bell tower for now (another one is to be returned) and rich interior decoration, without a doubt, the main attraction of the city. It’s so good that it was put in order after the desecration in Soviet times, when the temple was used as a cinema...

(Translated by Google) At the beginning of the 17th century, on the site of the modern Znamensky Cathedral, there was a city fortress of Kursk. In 1612, Kursk was captured and ravaged by a seventy-thousand-strong army of Polish-Lithuanian interventionists under the command of Hetman Zolkiewski. Only the heroically defended fortress remained impregnable for enemies. The Kursk residents attributed their deliverance from death to the intercession of the Mother of God and at the same time made a vow, in memory of this event, to build a monastery in honor of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God “The Sign”. By 1615, on the site of the modern cathedral, a wooden church was erected in honor of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. In the same year, the Tsar of Muscovy, Mikhail Fedorovich, ordered the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “The Sign” to be returned to Kursk. In 1649, by decree of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, a stone cathedral church was laid in place of the wooden one. The new cathedral was 58 m long and 11.5 m wide; in 1752 it was plastered inside and out, its single head dismantled and five erected in its place. In 1815, the dilapidated Znamensky Cathedral was dismantled. Construction of the large Znamensky Cathedral began in 1816 and lasted 10 years. The new cathedral was founded as a monument to the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. On the Easter days of 1893, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Znamensky Cathedral by the archpriest of the Kronstadt St. Andrew's Cathedral, Father John Sergiev - later the holy righteous John of Kronstadt. In the spring of 1898, a deafening explosion occurred in the Znamensky Cathedral. This is how an attempt was made on the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, but miraculously it was not harmed. During the revolutionary unrest, the cathedral was heavily looted. In 1918, the miraculous icon was discovered in the old Theodosius well (according to legend, dug by the Monk Theodosius of Pechersk himself). In 1932, the parish was dispersed, and the cathedral building was converted into a cinema. The building was badly damaged during the Great Patriotic War and in 1945 the premises were transferred to the newly created plant for the production of low-voltage equipment. In 1956, the reconstructed Oktyabr cinema was reopened. In 1992 the cathedral was returned to believers.

The Mykola Siadrystyi Micro Miniatures Museum in Kiev is a unique and fascinating attraction featuring an extraordinary collection of microscopic artworks created by the talented miniaturist, Mykola Siadrystyi. Visitors can marvel at the tiny sculptures and art pieces, some of which are so small that they can only be viewed through microscopes. The museum holds the world's tiniest sculptures, including a gold chess set that fits on the head of a nail.
Super interesting place. However you can't take pictures of the MINIATURES. Nevertheless, still very worth it to see such small but detailed things.

Requires magnifying glasses to view the microscopic artworks, including a caravan of gold camels in a needle eye. The curator adjusts gallery humidity to 45% exactly to preserve pieces. Some displays are illuminated by fiber optics thinner than human hair.

Something quite unique to see while you are at Pechersky Lavra. Entry is 60 UAH for adults, paid at the door of the room. Each exhibit has a brief English description next to it. The room also has other photos and exhibits on the wall and on the floor about historical events but only in Ukranian. So for me, the visit was done in about 15min. Would be more interesting if they could show the methods and/or tools used to make the art.

Amazing work of art and worth seeing. Just one room; takes max 10 min to see all miniatures; 60 uah to enter.

We went here because we were already at the Lavra and the reviews for this museum were all very intriguing and mysterious. While everything people wrote about is technically there(tiny gold chessboard on the head of a pin, etc), be aware that the museum is just one small room with maybe 12 examples of these micro miniature items. I guess it was fun to look at them, especially if you're already there, but it's a bit hard to understand why this museum has such glowing reviews

Thank you Mykola for your kindness and your incredible forty minutes of wisdom. Dean Larwood......Australia

Another great curiosity! You have to pay to get into the Lavra monastic complex, and then pay again to enter each museum, but none of them are expensive so you can pick and choose your poison. It takes about 15 minutes to see and ponder this lot, but the miniatures are truly memorable. My favourites were the tiny golden galleon and the chess set on the head of a pin (both pictured)

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Lavra, is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Orthodox Christian monastery complex in Kyiv. It features ornate religious buildings such as the Dormition Church, refectory, and bell tower. One of its main attractions is the network of underground catacombs where mummified remains of former monks are laid to rest.
As one of the seven wonders of Ukraine, this monastery is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site along with Saint Sophia Cathedral. Situated in Kiev, it is a monastic complex famed for its buried monks, spiritual atmosphere, and unique underground caves. Make sure you go up the stairs to enjoy a nice view over the city and panoramic view on the church from the towers.

A lot can be said about this place, but it is better to come and see everything yourself. It is difficult for me to imagine where else in the world there are so many historical buildings, caves, museums, icons in one territory. And indeed the place that is full of history. Just go to the free part, if you like it, you can come on Sunday and get into the "museum" part for free too.

Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves, is one of Ukraine's most revered religious and cultural landmarks. Perched on the picturesque hills overlooking the Dnipro River in the Pechersk district of Kyiv, this UNESCO World Heritage site is a stunning example of Eastern Orthodox monastic architecture and a place of profound spiritual significance. Founded in 1051 by St. Anthony of Kyiv, the Lavra began as a humble cave monastery and grew into a vast complex of churches, bell towers, and subterranean catacombs. The history of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is deeply intertwined with the spread of Christianity in the region, serving as a spiritual center for Eastern Orthodoxy and a cradle of monasticism in Kievan Rus. Over the centuries, it has been a focal point of religious life, attracting pilgrims from across the Orthodox world. The architectural beauty of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is breathtaking. The complex is dominated by the Great Lavra Belltower, which soars to a height of 96.5 meters, making it one of the tallest bell towers in the world. The golden domes of the Dormition Cathedral, which was rebuilt after being destroyed during World War II, gleam in the sunlight, creating a striking contrast against the blue skies of Kyiv. The interior of the churches is adorned with exquisite frescoes, mosaics, and icons, reflecting the rich artistic tradition of the Orthodox Church. Beneath the Lavra's surface lies a network of catacombs, where the mummified remains of saints, monks, and notable figures from Ukrainian history are interred. These underground passages are a place of pilgrimage, with visitors coming to venerate the relics and experience the serene, otherworldly atmosphere of the caves. Culturally, Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a symbol of Ukraine's religious heritage and national identity. It has played a crucial role in the preservation and dissemination of Orthodox Christian traditions, theological scholarship, and religious art. The Lavra continues to be an active monastery, home to a community of monks who maintain the centuries-old spiritual practices that have been passed down through generations. In addition to its religious significance, Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a cultural treasure, hosting museums that display priceless artifacts, manuscripts, and religious objects. The site is not only a place of worship but also a center of learning, art, and history, embodying the spiritual and cultural legacy of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Motherland Monument, towering over the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War Two, offers visitors breathtaking panoramic views of Kyiv from its 102-meter-high pedestal. This colossal stainless steel statue, unveiled in 1981, symbolizes the resilience and spirit of the Ukrainian people. As one of the world's tallest statues, it stands as a tribute to Soviet soldiers and is surrounded by a park featuring military displays and a World War II Museum.
Really breathtaking place. The current exposition, near the monument, with weapons and arsenal and the recreation of how people have lived under the siege of Russians is really shocking and important for the world to see.
Guillem C — Google review
The Motherland Monument in Kiev is a monumental sculpture that is the central object of the memorial complex of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II. The unique statue, which rises on the Pecherskaya Hills on the right bank of the Dnieper River, is viewed from almost anywhere in the city. It became the calling card of modern Kiev and was among the ten highest monuments of the planet. The grand opening of the Motherland in the entire museum complex took place on May 9, 1981. General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party L. Brezhnev took direct part in the ceremony. The height of the Motherland monument is 62 meters. The height of the cone pedestal is 40 meters. The all-welded statue weighs almost 500 tons. The main frame is 20 meters deep. The size of the shield is 8 meters by 12 meters. The height of the sword is 16 meters. The structure has two elevators – an inclined angle of 75 degrees and a vertical elevator terminating at the head of the statue. They are used to lift visitors to observation decks, but above all for the maintenance of the Motherland.Another must visit if you are in Kyiv. The Motherland Monument towers over the city and really is a symbol of independence / resistance that many Ukrainians are proud of. The park around the monument of free of charge to walk around and is very well kept. There are also a number of tanks on display , and for a small fee you can pay to visit the WWII museum next to the park. I am told the museum is very interesting but was closed during our visit due to the air raid siren going off.Standing proudly over the Kiev skyline is the 340-foot tall, stainless steel Soviet Mother Motherland statue. Originally intended to be even taller, the sword of the statue was cut because it was higher than the cross of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra - renowned Orthodox Christian Monastery. She ranks 18th on the list of the world’s tallest statues and for example a bit of comparison, The Statue of Liberty ranks about 42nd.

The most amazing place in Kiev. It's a must visit destination in a traveller's list if he's visiting Kiev. The place is very well built and it displays all the war materials used in World Wars, it's just amazing and can only be felt not described. It has many more nearby tourist places which can be visited by walk or by bus.

This museum could be called the house of Europe's "Statue of Liberty". A huge and beautiful statue locates the entry of the museum. At the entry you could think it's not as big as it really is. It covers all of Kiev struggle during WWII with a lot of objects from that era. When I was there the balcony was closed so I couldn't get to see the statue at the bottom, but it was definitely worth it, and the last room with the fotos and the objects of the fallen during the war makes a real impact in you. Despite this the museum shows is age and everything it's in ukranian. So it's not that prepared to welcome tourists, although it's a must in Kyiv.

Huge (23rd tallest statue in the world) monument overlooking Kiev. Great views across the city from the area. It's part of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. I didn't visit the museum itself, was short on time, but there are plenty of exhibits to see outside which you don't have to pay to see. Also some big statues at the base and a tank painted in the Ukrainian national colours.

This war memorial consists of a massive statue of a Motherland holding a shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other, overlooking the city below. The museum which is located on the banks of the Dnieper River has exhibits about Ukraine's role in World War II from uniforms and letters to larger pieces of history like airplanes and artillery.
Had a great time going up into the top observation deck of the statue. Olga did a good job instructing me the whole way and telling me facts while at the top. I didn't get to see the rest of the museum.

So freaking cool. Even the grounds around this place are beautiful. Plaques explained everything in English and Ukrainian. Apparently you can climb inside the helicopter but it was closed for Corona. ☹️ Lotta sad stories coming out of the conflict near Donetsk. Was very sad to see how many Ukrainian soldiers have died. There's a small exhibit of cars that have come from that region where the recent conflict is and has been. Go and considering paying the entrance fee to the war II area to support best place. Seriously one of the coolest museums.

Most of the meuseum is open air so be watchful of the weather. Good for a couple of hours visit.

The best part of the museum was the indoor section where you need to pay in order to enter. There was a very moving exhibition about the war in Crimea (didn't take pictures because it was some kind of disrespectful) and also the permanent exhibition about II World War (Eastern Europe). I am not very fond of War museums but it is always worthy since there is always something new to learn. The only disadvantage was that not all written explanations are provided in English so you have to do your own research if you want to go deeper in knowledge. After paying the entrance make sure you go downstairs to leave your belongings, otherwise it is not possible to enter the museum.

Nestled in the historic Lypsky neighborhood, the Gorodetsky House, also known as the House of Chimaeras, is a stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture that captivates with its intricate facade. This landmark building was designed by the eccentric architect Horodetsky in the early 20th century and has served various purposes over time, including a hospital during Ukraine's independence. Today, it stands as an official residence for presidential meetings.
The bizarre early-1900s facade features sea creatures that seem to move when viewed from different angles. Original stained glass windows cast colorful patterns that shift throughout the day. The interior's parquet floors creak with distinctive tones in each room.

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Compact zoological park including a petting zoo, pond, playground & picnic area.
Very cute, calm, nice place for spending time with children and family. Everywhere is clean, animals are well-groomed. I recommend!
Andrii S — Google review
An okay zoo (as far as zoos go), altough some animals clearly dont have enough space. Little by little, that situation has been improving, and the animals seem to be well fed. Unfortunately, some of them are clearly depressed, if not because of the lack of space, its because of the lack of mates to socialize.
Darya S — Google review
Great zoo! Recommend to visit
Bohdan T — Google review
It has been recently renovated and it looks great. For the visiting it is better to choose morning or evening time when animals are more active, during the midday heat, they are simply hiding and one can not see many species.
Tanya M — Google review
Different species, reasonable price. Very nice place for weekend stroll.
Just_Olek — Google review
While this zoo is really small, it's really good for its size. The animals are in a good condition, they get enough food and look healthy. One of the best places to visit with children in Chercassy.
Iurii M — Google review
I was really surprised and happy about the quality of this zoo. All of the animals appear to receive really good care, you can even see their diet prepared in one of the primate houses. The wolves, bear, and deer exhibits are the highlight of the zoo, with amazing viewing platforms and large enclosures. The eagles could use larger enclosures but overall it was a wonderful experience.

Hotel
Water & Amusement Parks
Large, seasonal aquatic park with pools & slides for all ages, plus a cafe & lounge areas.
Surprisingly nice water park. Lots of sunbeds, lots of fun waterslides for adults and kids, several cafes and bars. The territory is clean and well-kept. The only major drawback are locker halls where lockers would secure your things only from a small kid, and there are no changing room. Which would be OK if access to female and male halves of the space were restricted, which is not, so female visitors go past male lockers all the time, enjoying a view. You can change in a restroom or shower though.
Eugene P — Google review
Be careful! There is an incredibly hot floor outdoor throughout the way to waterslides because of sunny weather so a barefoot run exceedingly hurts. The Tsunami slide is the best attraction! But not for kids unfortunately. Discount tickets are always available in the centre of the town.
Vitalii — Google review
We visited a hotel named Santorini Beach Hotel and this place was really dirty! The bathroom toilet was full of algae. The apartment smelled really bad like the sewer. The staff would not give us large trash bags to clean our room. There was Security that would follow us around on the property and on the beach. There was no WiFi in the room. The staff even recommended we stay at another hotel.

All what we tried there were good, but not excellent. A good place to finish wonderful day when you stay in hotel.

Odesa Dolphinarium Nemo is a popular attraction where visitors can interact with dolphins and enjoy entertaining show programs. The dolphinarium also offers dolphin therapy for kids and adults, making it a great place for family relaxation. Additionally, guests can choose to visit the attached modern hotel of the same name or enjoy the sea view with a glass of wine at M1 restaurant.
Stunning performance. Incredibly well done. The trainers are acrobatic and the dolphins are just so smart! And man they can jump so ridiculously high! Like 3 body lengths high. It is a must go attraction and really, my favourite place in Odessa. The seats are well designed and no one is blocking your view. Great show and great price just perfect
I-Hsin Y — Google review
Nice show, dolphins are well trained. The only bad thing is the lack of space for dolphins but they still have better living condition than most Ukrainians.
Michał S — Google review
Wonderful experience, wonderful creatures and a lovely atmosphere. The show i enjoyed had appearances of fur seals, sea lions and a handful of dolphins. The trainers are exceptionally well prepared. The show had a wonderful theme and was very exciting. Only thing i did not enjoy was the fact that the show is largely spoken in Russian, even though there were enough foreign people present. If you love dolphins, don't miss out on this incredible experience.
David I — Google review
Great place to visit and enjoy the show, especially with kids. They will definitely love it. First row may get you wet. Oceanarium does not make much sense to visit- it’s very small, just two rooms.
Darius S — Google review
Great place to visit and bring your kids. I don't know what happens behind the scenes, but the show was outstanding.
Sorin Ș — Google review
They have an aquarium and dolphin show both with separate entry. The aquarium was only 100 so I entered it. It's pretty small with 1 small room for aquatic animals and another room for lizards, butterflies and insects. It was worth the 100 I think. Staff was friendly and it was something different to do in ukraine. Just keep in mind it's only 2 small rooms. For 100 they can let you hold some of the lizards or snake and have your picture taken with them which was pretty fun.
M G — Google review
Animal cruelty in a "5" star hotel. Horrible. Things like that should be prohibited. Why is nobody doing anything against that? How can people visit that place to support such a cruelty on animals 4 dolphins in a mini pool, full with tourists. Government should act. I cannot understand how people can support that. This is inhuman. But, karma.
Sandra W — Google review
beautiful, moving show! In addition to dolphins, you can see seals and a sea lion. the animals have a great relationship with trainers. very good price. only 300uah per person! worth it!

The Potemkin Stairs is a famous landmark in Odessa, known for its appearance in the silent film Battleship Potemkin. Built in the 19th century, this formal entrance to the city from the sea consists of 192 steps that create an illusion of greater length. From below, only the steps are visible, while from above, only the landings can be seen.
An evocative place to visit for fans of the "Battleship Potemkin" movie. Few tourists in these difficult times, although there is an occasional little red 'tourist train' passing. A nice view down to the port and the Black Sea beyond. In May 2024 the funicular wasn't working
Stephen P — Google review
It’s not so hard to accomplish that, guys! Especially when you’re hungry and you know that upstairs is food 😂 But, honestly, beautiful place with a nice view of the Sea Port and the sea itself. In the square up there are colorful buildings and nice historical monuments. And a bunch of cool restaurants and bars! 😉
Kristina Z — Google review
One of the important places you must see in Odessa, don’t forget walking near forest, it is also near sea side, harbour, check around and take more pics, it is really suggested to visit. And there is a funicular train near stairs who doesn’t want to climb.
Emre D — Google review
Newly remodeled stairs are great! The area surrounding the stairs is a new park with lots of benches and sites to see. Pleasant experience for sure. There is also a children's playground that's clean and new!
Bill G — Google review
I love Potemkin Stairs day and night always busy always there is music or activities. Nice views one side you can see the sea other side nice city view. If you are in Central Odessa must go and see the stairs.
Zerya D — Google review
Definitely one of the must see places in Odessa! The sheer size of these monumental steps is amazing! And after the recent renovation they look even more beautiful. Also surrounded by new parks, right by the city center and also right by the Port. Perfect place to be!
Patrick B — Google review
A compulsory place to visit in Odessa. The most recognizable and at the same time one of the most crowded places. Personally, I thought they will be bigger and most impressive. But anyway the way upstairs is tiring. Beautiful view at the harbor. The stairs- a bit messy. I recommand to take the picture of them from the other side- there's a platform in the harbor.

Prymorskyi Blvd is a charming and picturesque street in the city, intersecting with the famous Potemkin Stairs. It offers a leisurely stroll alongside Istanbul Park, lined with elegant mansion blocks that have been converted into hotels and museums. The boulevard overlooks the harbor, providing stunning views of beautiful buildings and the sea port. Visitors can also enjoy a ride on a funicular from the top of Potemkin Stairs to descend the slope.

Perpendicular to the upper landing of the Potemkin Stairs, Primorsky Boulevard is a cultured street and walkway beside Istanbul Park. On the city side there’s a row of tall mansion blocks, now hotels and museums, while looking out in the harbour are four lanes of pedestrian paths divided by lawns enclosed with little wrought iron railings. At the top of the Potemkin Stairs you can board a funicular to descend the slope. Here there’s also a statue of the Duke of Richelieu the first Governor of Odessa, in Roman garb. Another monument, on the far eastern side of the boulevard, pays homage to Alexander Pushkin, who lived in Odessa for just over a year up to 1824.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant theater and performance arts scene, enjoying evening performances or avant-garde plays at smaller independent theaters. The nightlife in Odessa is diverse and dynamic, offering something for everyone, from music enthusiasts to those looking to soak in local culture.
Beautiful opera house, inside and out. I ended up attending a small local performance that wasn't even in the main part, but held in the outer walkway which was interesting.

This place is just majestic. Absolutely beautiful and astounding work of architecture. The surrounding location and water fountain are also magnificent. I saw Carmen and the tickets were extremely affordable for the masterful performance. This was my first Opera viewing and it was absolutely delightful. I felt very dapper for that evening. This is a must-see in Odessa and I urge you to see an opera while you visit, the acoustics and seating were phenomenal. I would do this again as a first-time goer to the Opera.

Spectacular architecture with very nice outside settings not far from the beach. I visited it in October 2022, and finally, watched Opera Turandot in March 2025. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My wife and I were there watching the opera Carmen. We had the pleasure of sitting in a box. An incredible atmosphere, an architecturally very interesting building. In the breaks between the files you can have a good look at the inside of the opera and take photos. The staff were very helpful in finding the right place.
Carsten V — Google review
Took a guided tour but unfortunately it was in Russian and not in English. However, I still enjoyed the tour because of the fascinating interior architecture designs of the theatre. Was built in the 1800s making it one of the oldest opera theatres in the world and it is the most famous landmark of Odessa that you definitely want to visit. The Swan Lake was being preformed in the theatre when I was in Odessa but unfortunately tickets were sold out!

One of the best areas in Odessa to go shopping, find a great restaurant, bar, coffee shop or just stroll around endlessly... Unfortunately the restaurant we visited is no longer open. Sights & Landmarks
Bilhorod-Dnister fortress is a 14th-century waterfront ruin that offers picturesque views and group tours. While it could use some reconstruction, the fortress is still in relatively good shape. Visitors can easily drive and park there, with various activities available such as shooting a bow and exploring small cafes and gift shops in the central courtyard. Families can spend hours walking around, enjoying the historical attractions dating back to Roman times.
Incredible place to explore and spend a few hours walking around. Lots of activities for families and interesting history. I would highly recommend a day trip to the castle and surrounding area if you are in Odessa. A++
Travis B — Google review
Old and large fortress still in relatively good shape but could use some reconstruction. A tour is not required as you can drive and park there easily yourself, just be mindful that with heavy traffic it can be a 1.5h-2h drive from Odessa In the summer The central courtyard of the fortress has some small cafe's and little gift shops. Activities like shooting a bow are also available.

You can have two hours experience starting from visiting all stages of the wine and cognac production process, through Szabo colony museum, includes two movies in specially designed halls and wine tasting at the end. It is impressive how much the company owners invested in sharing the history of the region. The guide is very knowledgeable and delivers excursions in English.
