(Translated by Google) Warm atmosphere, I didn’t want to leave. Calm and somehow homely. The animals are friendly and enjoy eating treats, which can be purchased at the same place where tickets are sold. A children's bucket of treats costs 300 rubles. They conduct a master class on milking a goat, the cost is 400 rubles. Then tasting of arrogant milk, ~50 g. There is a cafe, the prices are reasonable. Hamburger with minced ostrich cutlet. You can buy a piece of raw ostrich meat. I don’t know the prices for it in other places, here the price is 3500 rubles, ~1 kg per piece. A little expensive for my pocket. Homemade compote at a price of 350 rubles per liter jug. There is homemade ice cream packed in plastic cups and served with wooden sticks. Very tasty. Entrance without excursion 800 rub. adult and 400 rubles for children, unlimited time. I recommend visiting this place!

(Translated by Google) An extremely interesting place. Ostriches, emus, rabbits, llamas, goats, pigs. You can pet them and feed them. The children are delighted to visit the farm. The guide, Natalya, is a wonderful person, she loves children and animals, and she conducts the tour in a fascinating way, telling details about the way of life of animals in the wild and on the farm.

(Translated by Google) The whole family and a 9-year-old child went on an excursion on Sunday at 15.00, we really enjoyed it. A good guide (he talks interestingly, puts children at ease), polite staff. We were delighted with the ostrich egg (they let us hold it) and the emu egg. There are also geese and chickens, peacocks, goats, pigs, alpacas, and rabbits. All animals are well-groomed. The child liked that the animals could be fed (vegetables can be purchased at the entrance). There is also a delicious cafe where you can try ostrich meat dishes. Time flew by. We will definitely come again!

(Translated by Google) I really liked the farm. Entrance for children under 14 years old is 200 rubles, for adults 400 rubles. There is a cafe on the territory where you can taste dishes made from ostrich meat or an ostrich egg omelette. It is also possible to buy this meat. They conduct excursions around the farm there, a very interesting thing) In addition to ostriches, there are other animals there. All of them can be fed, including ostriches. In general, I liked everything! (Translated by Google) We came in December 2020. The weather was excellent, sunny, no wind - it was nice to take a walk. Winter. And there is no more dirt. The downside is that ostriches don't lay eggs anymore - you can't buy eggs. A child's main delight is feeding ostriches by hand. They don't bite, but they may occasionally pinch your hand a little. Moreover, you need to feed without gloves, as they can easily take them off. Cheerful birds. While he was feeding one, the second one pulled out a cash receipt from his pocket. He took it away and gave me cabbage :) . If you are going on a tour, you don’t have to buy cups of food, they will most likely get in the way - the guide has a bucket of cabbage. It’s better to take a tour, it’s more interesting. Two adults with a child 8 years old and 2 glasses of food - 2000 rubles. Either on your own or feed the goats later, the food will come in handy. The goats roam freely around the area and beg for treats. It is interesting to feed them carrots by hand. Cards are accepted. There is a cafe and it has a pretty decent toilet. You have to place your order on the street and then they deliver it. Usually you need to wait 15 minutes. We tried an ostrich egg omelette (I couldn’t tell the difference) and an ostrich burger. The meat is lean, something between turkey and beef. A wood-burning samovar was boiling in the yard, I was drawn to it, but the tea was from tea bags. So we used our thermos. We walked leisurely for about 3 hours and went home. The road is good.

(Translated by Google) Entrance costs significant money (600 rubles per ticket per person), but the territory is not particularly landscaped - apparently, the flow of visitors is not sufficient. On the territory there are ostriches, goats, sheep, pigs, a donkey, horses, several poultry houses, etc. There is a shop and cafe. Animators for children work on weekends. There are also excursions available. In general, it’s worth a trip once))) (Original)

Its a good option for a day picnic.Well maintained. Entry fees worth the visit. Why only 4 stars..I am animal lover, seeing caged animals/ birds is painful.

Great for kids to catch up on chicken variety. Plenty of animals to observe at close distance, so much better than Moscow's Zoo! Note, they do not accept cards.

Amazing place. Better than Moscow Zoo. Lots of birds and animals.

Great selection of animals (we've been there only in the half on the park, left hand side, didn't have time for "tropical" part). That has exceeded my expectations, nice and spacious place, well arranged. I must say we've been there on the 1st of January so it was almost empty, no visitors. At least that (I mean anything like that working on the the 1st of January) can tell one a lot ;) Nice place to take children but also quite interesting park for adults.
Igor F — Google review
It's so cool place and very enjoyable.
Johannes S — Google review
Magnificent zoo, with focus on birds. Many species and not only birds. The otter and the ostrich are also very nice. We visited in winter so half of the animals were hidden. But even the remaining accesible part was so magnificent! We spent several hours here and were much exhaused before we finished the first part of the park. Will be back in spring to see the rest of the animals.

Gosudarstvennyy Memorial'nyy I Prirodnyy Muzey-Zapovednik I.s. Turgeneva "Spasskoye-Lutovinovo"

Mentioned on
1 list
Open air museum
Museums
The Gosudarstvennyy Memorial'nyy I Prirodnyy Muzey-Zapovednik I.s. Turgeneva "Spasskoye-Lutovinovo" is a historical and natural reserve museum complex located in the Oryol region, about 60 kilometers from Oryol and 12 kilometers from Mtsensk.
(Translated by Google) On December 3, 2024, a wonderful excursion to the I.S. Museum-Reserve was held for the team of the Amchanochka Volunteer Group, which helps soldiers of the Northern Military District. Turgenev Spasskoye - Lutovinovo. To say that we enjoyed the excursion is an understatement! It was a wonderful excursion! It would seem that we know a lot about Spassky and Turgenev, since we are his fellow countrymen. But they listened as if for the first time! We felt that the museum staff truly valued what they were talking about. They are the true guardians of the history of this unique reserve and bearers of its richest traditions, cultural and natural values. No modern methods of storing information can replace the special atmosphere of communication in which people who find themselves within the walls of the Turgenev House, in the famous park of the estate, are immersed. We involuntarily remembered the words of the great countryman: “When you are in Spassky, bow from me to the house, the garden, my young oak tree, bow to the homeland...”. And we bowed... “Amchanochka” cordially thanks the administration of the Spasskoye-Lutovinovo Museum-Reserve: director Sergei Afanasyevich Stupin and deputy director Tatyana Aleksandrovna Basova, as well as Yuri Ivanovich Zuev, Victoria Eduardovna Gubanova, for providing the opportunity for our group to visit the family estate of I.S. Turgenev. I would also like to note that the excursion conducted by museum employees Alexei Gennadievich Merkulov and Elena Leonidovna Selivanova is an amazing opportunity to touch the literary shrine of the Mtsensk land. With such professionals, time flew by instantly, we learned a lot of new and interesting things. We wish the museum staff good health, prosperity, new creative victories and success in such an important and worthy cause!

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place, first of all, it is a large, well-kept old park. But, probably, the only original exhibit of the museum is the famous Turgenev oak. The estate itself was on fire and was being rebuilt. According to the guide, only the outbuilding remained. The estate is painted in bright colors. Turgenev rarely visited the estate; he preferred Paris. The museum itself has a good European-quality renovation; there are several original pieces of furniture from the Turgenev family. Is photography prohibited inside the museum?! although there is nothing special to shoot. Very beautiful Church of the Transfiguration. Be sure to visit it.

(Translated by Google) Spasskoye-Lutovinovo... How can you not write stories here!? Silence, tranquility, centuries-old trees, an oak tree planted by Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev, Savina pond... If you are lucky enough to visit the estate, book a comprehensive excursion, it lasts a little more than two hours and costs a penny (380 or 500 rubles, depending on the exposition). It’s better in the summer, a walk through the park takes up the main part of the excursion and be sure to take a ride through the park with a cab driver, it costs only 150 rubles!!!. Unfortunately, the manor house is closed for two years for restoration, but this does not spoil the overall picture. Be sure to take a walk through the village, at the other end there is a little chapel, the history of which will be told to you by the guide in the estate itself, if you ask him about it. Well, and ... "bow to my young man, bow to my homeland..." three to five hours will be enough to visit the estate, there is no hotel in Spassky, there are no restaurants either, 10 km away is the ancient city of Mtsensk on the Zusha River, you can have a snack there before returning home and ... visits to Tolstoy in Yasnaya Polyana, which is on the way to Moscow.

(Translated by Google) It is necessary to take a tour, because there is no other way to get to the house-museum. Some interesting details from the guide. It was a routine in the house that at a certain time everyone would go downstairs to the dining room to eat. It was believed that those staying in the house remained in the status of a guest for 3 days, and they were given concessions - they were fed when they were hungry. On the 4th day, those living were considered members of the household and could no longer claim lunch/dinner at an unspecified time. Many of Turgenev’s friends visited the house - Nekrasov, Fet, and Leo Tolstoy especially loved the estate. Turgenev himself also loved the family nest very much, and in his letters to Flaubert he often described the estate. In general, 5 of the writer’s 6 novels were written here. In the office there is a very beautiful Byzantine image of the Savior. Despite the fact that Turgenev was not a believer, he ordered that the image not be removed from the estate. Unfortunately, out of 20 thousand exhibits, only 5 thousand remain, the rest were lost. The original books are exhibited in the Turgenev house-museum in Orel. On the territory of the estate there is the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, consecrated in 1809, as well as a chapel where the ashes of the founder of the estate are buried. I.S. Turgenev came to Spasskoye-Lutovinovo for the last time in 1881. In the spring of 1882 he became very ill, and on September 3 he died of spinal cancer. In the park on the territory there is an oak tree that Turgenev planted with his own hands in his youth. It is now one of the tallest and widest-girth trees on the entire estate. The oak is about 200 years old. The park itself occupies 40 hectares, mixed, the alleys are linden, lined with the Roman numeral XIX. Previously, the park was home to about 42 species of birds. For entertainment (summer), you can ride boats, ride a carriage, or ride horses. Practical information. Getting there by public transport is very inconvenient; the bus from the Mtsensk bus station takes about half an hour and runs a couple of times a day. One at lunchtime, one at evening. The final stop is Spasskoye-Lutovinovo, you need to get off a little earlier, ask the locals, they will tell you which stop is closest to the ticket office. On the way back, it makes sense to walk past the exhibition center in the direction of the school to the memorial to those killed in the Great Patriotic War. The stop is located near the store, so you can grab a seat on the bus.

Green carpet of grass all around (in summer) horseback riding. Excursions are provided both group and individual, upon your request. Tsentral'nyy Muzey Bronetankovogo Vooruzheniya I Tekhniki

War museum
Museums
Military museum focused on tanks & armored vehicles from around the world, with guided tours.
This muzeum is really great. You fibd almost all the tank soviet production. From early times to the modern ones. There are also 2 hangars dedicated to tanks made in other countries, mainly Germany and USA, but you can find also some rarety like the hungaroan Toldi. Moreover there is the only existing prototype of the german tank Maus, aslo the biggest one in the 2ww.
Alessandro A — Google review
This is simply a great museum! The collection of tanks there is very large, and you even get to try to shoot a firearm of your choice for only 1100 rubles.

I was there with some Russian friends. The place is pretty unique with so many tanks, hundreds I guess. There, are Russian, British, German and American tanks and more. They span about all of the 20th century. Some of them are used a lot in WW II movies. Nice to see them up close here. We spent about two hours here. There's also plenty of souvenirs to buy, a restaurant, toilets and abundant parking place.

Tanks like the Object 279(The Alien Tank), Object 775(Pancake) and the Maus Haus(Wooden mock up in the museum???????) I aphave to visit this place!

One of the biggest tank museums in the western hemisphere. With many unique machines the museum will be breathtaking to all tank lovers. Sadly the German pavilion had been recently relocated to another location, however the Maus and some other machines are still there. Please note that nothing is in English (including people) and getting to this place on public transport might prove tricky. And well, the quality of everything is quite sketchy. Make sure you go with someone who speaks russian, otherwise these f***ers will scam you into paying three times the actual ticket price. Ps, beware of cafeteria food

Etnomir

Cultural center
Water & Amusement Parks
Etnomir is a captivating amusement park that immerses visitors in the rich tapestry of global cultures. This unique destination features an array of architectural styles along Mir Street, with themed hotels and restaurants representing regions from Russia and beyond, including Siberia, Japan, and Nepal. Families can enjoy clean accommodations while exploring various exhibitions and engaging in hands-on workshops like pottery or candle making.
Very interesting place, with different sections depicting different regions of Russia and the world - Siberia, the Caucasus, Ukraine, Belarus, Japan, India, Nepal, and many others. There are themed hotels, restaurants, and exhibitions for each, as well as free excursions and paid workshops (pottery, soap making, candle dipping, e.t.c). Highly recommend for a few days in the summer or early autumn when the weather is nice. Good for families.

Great place to visit with family and children. Territory is huge and you have real examples of different houses in different centuries. To see everything you need whole day. What is more, you can go to several master classes where you can learn how to do some things. On a territory are some places with different animals. Really sad to see hasky dogs in a cages.

Fun place. But that mostly for organized groups that book tours and kids over 8 yrs old. The cafes are ok. The Korchma with Russian-Ukranian good is supposedly one of best at this locale. Most activities and exhibits inside the general park area are at additional cost. At far above average prices.

I was extremely impressed by facade of the Nepal hotel. In spite of this feeling with family we were staying in the hotel of East Asia and room was clean and sweet. And as we were lucky with the weather we could visit every place in this huge area and just relax in place that out of carbon dioxide and full of the fresh air in harmony with nature

Very cool done!
Sergey N — Google review
(Translated by Google) The first thought when you see the cathedral is, this is Tsaritsyno. Pseudogothic. The Novo-Nikolsky Cathedral was built in 1812-14, and Tsaritsyno began construction according to Bazhenov’s project in 1776, the implementation of Kazakov’s project in 1786. It turns out that the Novo-Nikolsky Cathedral was built later. Architect Alexey Nikitich Bakarev, a student of M.F. Kazakova, it is now clear how the cathedral is connected to Tsaritsyno. The cathedral houses a museum and an Orthodox church. I just got to the church, as usual, the photos and videos were crossed out and “I do not bless” was added. St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is carved out of wood, I’ve already seen this somewhere, Kislovodsk, Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Novo-Nikolsky Cathedral is currently in the woods, restoration is underway, I hope to see the temple after the work.

(Translated by Google) In its final form, the Novo-Nikolsky Cathedral, which has survived to this day, was erected in 1804-1814. Created in the style of pseudo-Gothic architecture, presumably the Kazakov school, it can be considered one of the outstanding works of Russian architecture. In gratitude for the miraculous help, the pious residents of Mozhaisk carved out of wood an image of the intercessor of St. Nicholas according to the revealed image - at full height in ancient episcopal vestments. Such a carved icon was installed on the Nikolsky Gate of the fortress wall. Now the image is in the Tretyakov Gallery, and its copy is in the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Mozhaisk. The image of an Orthodox bishop with a ball in his hand is extremely rare. And the Mozhaisk image of St. Nicholas is one of them. Also in the temple there is a copy of the ancient icon of Saint Prince Fyodor and his sons, into which is embedded a reliquary with particles of their holy relics. The Life-Giving Cross, made of wood and located to the left of the entrance, is especially revered. On the walls of the cathedral you can see the remains of wall frescoes from the 15th-16th centuries.

Nikola-Lenivets

Modern art museum
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the picturesque Kaluga Region, about 220 kilometers south of Moscow, Nikola-Lenivets is a unique blend of contemporary art and traditional Russian landscapes. This charming village is home to over 30 outdoor sculptures and installations that harmoniously integrate with the surrounding meadows and forests within Ugra National Park.
Abosolutely incredible place! Art objects everywhere in the forest, nice spot to chill, paint, spend time with friends, sleep inside fancy and beautiful small houses and eat some good food.
Giovanni M — Google review
It's a perfect place for rest of Moscow. You can accommodate there and spend more than one day, actually its necessity because of it's too far from Moscow to be there just for one day. Anyway, interesting art, timber structures, calm place, bad roads, but its a part of it. Definitely worth to see.
Martin T — Google review
A good place to visit if you are really into public art, but not worth driving all the way from Moscow. The infrastructure of the park has a lot of room to grow (updated maps, guides in foreign languages). However, the nature here truly is beautiful. The Ugra River, located south of the old church, is a great place to go for a swim in the summer.
Mayya P — Google review
Really an a interesting place to visit. Astonishing view.
Amelie C — Google review
Warning! There are the last 10 kilometers of the bad road, you cannot pass. Too many holes in asphalt. But the art is beautiful, strange, fantastic! Alien even. It is like "Burning Man" for poor people. (You know, 'we are not rich enough to burn our art; we are not rich enough to buy a trip to USA'.)
John S — Google review
The Nikola Lenivets art park is not something which pops up in a regular tour itinerary on a visit to Russia. More near to Kaluga than Moscow, it involves a bit of a drive, duration of which depends on where you stay in Moscow. It is possible to reach there by public transport but I was fortunate enough to have my friend and her brother give me a ride. (which was perfect because the place's a bit hard to find and you need to know Russian to ask for directions). The park is very widespread and covers the whole village of Nikola Lenivets including adjacent fields, woods, meadows and a river. There are various art installations all around from the midst of meadows to inside the woods. There is a vehicular road which goes through and around most of the park and there are dedicated parking lots near most larger exhibits. It's quite easy to explore the various areas of the park on foot from the parking lots. Cycles are available on rent but I won't recommend them unless you're absolutely at the peak of fitness because the roads are undulating and unpaved making the journey uncomfortable. There are lovely cottages to stay over along with dedicated camping grounds. Toilets although widely present are so so...some are modern and comfortable while others are like dry pits! Maps and tickets are available at the information centre, unfortunately only being in Russian. There are decent cafes and places for picnics and barbecues. I couldn't find any shop to buy souvenirs. On the whole it's a good place to visit although it's tough getting there on your own. (Translated by Google) I have very warm memories from my trip to Khmelita, probably largely due to a successful coincidence of circumstances: good weather, pleasant company, an atmosphere of joyful calm. The facade of the estate requires restoration, but this does not affect the impressions. A huge well-groomed area is a huge plus that covers all the shortcomings. I recommend visiting with your family.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful estate and park complex. We were here at the festival on May 31, 2025, and really liked the performance at the entrance to the estate, it was very beautiful and atmospheric! You want to walk around the halls on the second floor for a long, long time... A park with alleys and ponds (along the banks of which yellow wild irises and white Cannes grow - I've never seen anything like them!) - it's probably especially great there during the linden blossom season. I recommend visiting! And there are announcements of events in the museum's VK group - very convenient.

(Translated by Google) The impressions are excellent. We were lucky with both the weather and the staff. In winter, you won’t be able to walk around the territory for a long time, but you can hang out for a long time in the estate and the nearby museum and exhibitions. The staff is friendly, no one follows you around. We went to an exhibition of writers from St. Petersburg artists and were impressed. The estate itself is not just a museum, but it preserves and creates an idea of family and life. On the territory there is a small souvenir shop with gingerbread cookies, postcards, books, at prices cheaper than in Smolensk. You can drink coffee, have a snack. We went to see a hangover cat, on advice from Smolensk, but the owners had already taken the cat, but now they have 3 wonderful puppies!

There are many manuscripts of Woe from Wit, but not of Griboyedov himself, but handwritten copies, because this comedy was banned at one time. It’s a gorgeous area, it’s true, we were there in winter, but it’s large-scale, the paths are cleared, the Christmas tree is decorated, there are snowmen and a snow fortress. Overall I liked it (Original) Усадьба Грибоедовых. Located in the central part of the city of Smolensk on Cathedral Hill. Erected at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. An amazing place for the soul, where the Lord embraces you with his love! I like to come to the cathedral when there are not many people, I can calmly pray, turn to God, the Most Holy Theotokos, and the saints of God. You can venerate any icon with prayer and request; there are places where you can simply sit and breathe the spirit of the cathedral, this is especially important for elderly and sick people. Of course, on great holidays there is Grace everywhere, it’s just very crowded, you have to stand close together. Go enjoy God's house, its splendor and its beauty. Think about saving your soul!!! The Smolensk fortress wall, also known as the Smolensk kremlin, is a historic defensive structure that dates back to 1595-1602. It played a crucial role in the city's defense during the heroic 20-month battle against the Polish army. The fortress boasts impressive medieval walls and towers, including the iconic Assumption Cathedral. Built by architect Fyodor Kon, this architectural marvel spans 6.

In some places the fortress wall is perfectly preserved, in some places, but there are only two of them, you can climb it and walk through the galleries. But basically, access is closed everywhere, despite information on the Internet that you can walk freely along the wall. The wall itself, at present, is not developing in any way as a tourist attraction, although this is our history. Which, by the way, foreigners are very surprised by. In some places, sections of the wall are littered with picnickers, which also causes wild surprise, given the historical and architectural value of the site. But, nevertheless, the wall is very beautiful, from various points of the city and is a must-see! Look for the Saturday Travels channel on YouTube, we have a full review there.

In the Veselukha tower there is a warehouse for all sorts of rubbish from the adjacent theological seminary of the Smolensk diocese. You can't climb the walls anywhere. For years the fortress wall has not been restored, and when it is restored, funds are obviously not spent properly. The wall was founded in 1595 by Boris Godunov, and construction was completed in 1602. In troubled times, he will play a very important role in preserving the Moscow state. The most preserved - the eastern part of the wall is the most picturesque, but you cannot climb the wall there - all the entrances are blocked and closed. The surrounding area is not suitable for tourists.

Svyato-Uspenskiy Kafedral'nyy Sobor

Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
The Svyato-Uspenskiy Kafedral'nyy Sobor is an enormous Orthodox church with a captivating backstory. It was constructed on the grounds where a Uniate bishop was tragically martyred, highlighting the remarkable transition from one religious establishment to another. From its square, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking city view. This magnificent temple boasts Belarus's largest bell, weighing 5.2 tons and standing at a height of 2 meters.
A must see for any tourist. It is very beautiful and has a rich history.

The Holy Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk is one of the city’s most recognizable and impressive landmarks. Located on a hill above the Western Dvina River, it offers fantastic views of the surrounding area and adds a special charm to the city’s skyline. Its white walls and golden domes shine brightly, especially in the late afternoon sun. The area around the cathedral is clean, peaceful, and perfect for a walk or a moment of calm. 🌊 What made our visit truly unforgettable was the unexpected event happening right in front of the cathedral. A group of girls was performing energetic modern dances, inspired by styles like hip-hop and Jagger. There was music playing, and a small team was filming the performance with professional cameras. It seemed like a rehearsal or maybe a shoot for a dance video. The atmosphere was fun, creative, and full of life. 🪩 The mix of classic architecture and modern youth culture was something you don’t see every day. It showed how places like this cathedral are not just historical or religious sites but also active parts of local culture and community life. If you’re in Vitebsk, don’t miss this spot. Even if you don’t go inside, just being there is a special experience ✨.

(Translated by Google) The Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk stands on the high bank of the Dvina, where in pre-Christian times there was a sanctuary of the pagan goddess Mokosha. And the hill was called Bald Mountain, according to legend, witches flocked there for the Sabbath. The temple largely follows the fate of the nearby Church of the Resurrection. Both of them were built in the 18th century and blown up in 1936 by the Bolsheviks. Factory workshops were built on the site of the cathedral; after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the enterprise went bankrupt, the buildings were abandoned, and they collapsed. At the beginning of this century, the public demanded the restoration of the temple, and in 1998, Patriarch Alexy II, whose monument stands opposite the cathedral, consecrated the cornerstone of its new foundation. The first liturgy in the lower chapel took place in 2005, the work was completed 6 years later. The cathedral was revived in full accordance with the original design of the Italian Joseph Fantan, which was modeled on the Roman church of San Carlo al Corso in the mature Baroque style. A wide staircase leads from the embankment to the square in front of the undulating façade, decorated with a Corinthian order colonnade. Under the triangular pediment between the three-tiered towers is an icon of the Mother of God. The largest bell in Belarus weighing 5.2 tons is suspended from the belfry.

With over 300 works including lithographs and etchings, the museum has painstakingly collected pieces from around the world.
Lovely place. Just 10 minute walking from railway station.

No photos or video allowed inside. Why? Only allowed to see 4 rooms of the house. The rooms are very small and they have yours with 20+ people in them, which make it impossible for all to fit in a room to hear the tour guide. The positives: only $1 for our family to enter and the outside was spacious and relaxing.

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the heart of Belarus, the Спаса-Ефрасінеўскі манастыр is a historical gem that beckons travelers with its rich heritage and serene atmosphere. Founded by St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk in 1127, this monastery is renowned for its stunning Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross, which houses sacred relics and showcases exquisite architecture from 1893 to 1897.
A very pretty and old church complex. The interior was under restoration when I was there, but they still organized tours inside for the public (in Russian). The little old church is also the one on the 10 Belarusian Ruble bill (the blue one). Visit on a sunny day to get the most spectacular photos!

Saint Sophia Cathedral

Churches & Cathedrals
Saint Sophia Cathedral is a stunning architectural marvel that dates back to the 11th century, showcasing dual spires that create an impressive entrance. Originally constructed in the 11th century, it underwent a transformation in the 18th century when it was rebuilt in baroque style. This cathedral is not only visually captivating from every angle but also houses a magnificent pipe organ that fills the air with breathtaking music, including pieces by Bach.
If I'm to use one word alone to describe this place, that will be "breathtaking". I don't remember crying in a cathedral while travelling abroad before, because I see them as cultural heritage and that's it, but my God, the sound of the organ in this cathedral is magnificent. They played Bach, of course. There is so much history there, don't miss this place if you happen to be in Belarus.
Tanya S — Google review
An historical building with a great history and very modest presentation for tourists. If you are walking around the city without a guide, it will not be so easy to find the Cathedral - there are no signs in the city center showing how to get to its most famous historical site. Finding a toilet near this touristic site is also a problem, because there are no any signs, although it exists. ))

War memorial
Sights & Landmarks
The Khatyn Memorial Complex stands as a poignant tribute to the Belarusian people's resilience and the tragic events of World War II. This symbolic cemetery and eternal flame commemorate the 149 local residents, including elderly and children, who were brutally murdered by the Nazis in 1943. The complex includes a museum with exhibits depicting life before, during, and after the war, as well as the construction of the memorial.
Easy parking, well maintained, no entrance fee. A somber and humbling experience.

An unusual place. It is difficult to describe the atmosphere and all the feelings when you are among these monuments of human cruelty. A special sensation is causing by the bells ringing for the deads. At the same time there is some kind of harmony here. This place is definitely worth a visit. The entrance is free.
IVTALA — Google review
The first thing you need to do is go to the museum (kind of unnoticeable on the far left of the parking lot) and buy a $2 book that gives the history and significance of all of the memorials (book is in English and Russian). There is a museum that shows photos of past memorials and photos of construction of present ones. It also has stories and photos of survivors from Khatyn and other villages--only in Russian though. The whole complex is very harrowing, but so worthwhile. Very well done in typical Soviet style (concrete).

Dudutki is a charming open-air museum located near the village of Dudichi, Belarus. It offers a unique insight into the everyday life of a 19th-century Belarusian countryside house. Visitors can explore an ethnographic gallery and craft workshops including pottery, leatherworking, weaving, and more. The complex also features a wooden church, windmill, bakery, brewery, and creamery. Guests can learn about ancient crafts and folk celebrations while tasting freshly baked Belarusian bread.
Traditional Belorussian estate that I have visited multiple times in the last ten years. If you are going for a guide ask for Irina who has been there since 1997! Walk around try the homemade cheese and bread. Highly recommend the straw, linen and ceramic workshops!! Talk to the artists - great place friendly people :)

It’s worth visiting but once, they also offer nice parties for kids during the summer with lots of open air activities such as foam parties and holi, however, it’s much better to purchase tickets online at least a few days prior to the event to save on the entrance fee on the day of festivities . They have a playground for kids and a nice collection of retro cars. The bistro on summer weekends and during any celebrations is just a nightmare!!! You have to wait in line for at least 30 minutes and the food is rather average, however the prices are rather low

I suggest you to take an excursion there, so you’ll have lots of fun with tastings of local products and drinks. Area is nice, but I was disappointed that everything was in Russian. Even the guides don’t do the tours in Belarusian. That’s sad. And the shield at the entrance wasn’t in a native language.

The National Library of Republic of Belarus is a modern and uniquely designed library with a large collection of books. The building stands at over 73 meters high and has the shape of a rhombocuboctahedron, making it an impressive sight to behold. Visitors can take a panoramic elevator to one of the best observation platforms, where they can use binoculars with 30x magnification to view distant objects.
Although far from the city center, the library is an easy ride on the metro (even for someone who speaks no Belarusian, like me). It’s completely worth it, as around the back of the library you can pay to go up to the 35th floor to see the surrounding view of the city. Beautiful!!!

Yesterday, 30/05/2025, I had the pleasure of exploring Museum Strana Mini in Minsk—a true gem showcasing the rich history and architectural beauty of Belarus in miniature. Every detail, every exhibit reflects the passion and dedication of the talented creators behind this masterpiece. A huge thank you to the team for their incredible work in preserving and presenting Belarusian heritage in such a captivating way! If you're ever in Minsk, this is a must-visit!

Great place for tourists. One can see miniatures some of the main sights of Belarus. An audio guide will tell you about all of them. I strongly recommend visiting the museum. It will be interesting to children and grownups as well. By the way some maquettes have figured of fairytale or movie characters🧚‍♀️ There is also a VR helmet where you can look at sights in their current state (but I felt a bit dizzy after it).
Elizaveta C — Google review
A waste of money. The exhibition is very small, with few items on display, and their quality is extremely poor — it felt like little care or effort went into their creation. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I had in Belarus.

I really enjoyed going to see the museum on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't too busy and I got to spend a lot of time looking at the really detailed models (19 total). The models themselves are so intricate and they move and have a light show. An audio guide available in English is included in the price of the ticket and it's super cool to see and learn about sites that you can later see in person. Also the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

Went to see "The Grey Legend" with my wife. Was surprised that there were subtitles in Russian and English, which was absolutely fabulous. Stalin Line

Open air museum
Museums
Nestled just 25 kilometers northwest of Minsk, the Stalin Line Museum is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. This WWII museum showcases an impressive array of Soviet military artifacts, including bunkers, trenches, tanks, and fighter jets that once formed part of a significant defensive line stretching over 1000 kilometers along the western border of the Soviet Union. The sprawling grounds offer immersive experiences that transport you back to a time when these structures played crucial roles in wartime defense.
A must-see even for non-history minded tourists. Museum already rightfully glows in reviews. Ditto to that. I'll add two specific points of appreciation that perhaps seldom get recognized. First, HUGE thank you for English! Well-written, proper English. It's not an afterthought, it's a first-class citizen throughout, and that makes museum accessible to mainstream audience. Second, thank you for so beautifully presenting less sexy, nuts & bolts hardware that doesn't usually get attention. Corrugated steel chambers, bridge layers, trench diggers, reinforced vehicle maintenance structures. And you don't just have these items sitting out back unlabeled, you've taken care to identify what they are and what they do. Wow. One request next time placards are revamped: Please add year & location of manufacture if possible. Thank you for so competently preserving this important history.

The unique historical and cultural complex of the Great Patriotic War. Be sure to come with the kids! Very interesting. You can take an excursion, which guides in the form of soldiers and officers from the Second World War will conduct for you. And you can bypass everything yourself. Fortifications remained - trenches, bunkers of those times, weapons from which, by the way, you can shoot for a nominal fee. There is also a technique of the post-war and Soviet period. On holidays, performances in the open. And in the local souvenir shop you can buy home souvenirs.

(Translated by Google) A unique place that will not leave anyone indifferent. Plan your visit for the whole day, you won’t regret it. We arrived by private car on Sunday at 10.00, and by 17.00 we had not seen everything, tried it, listened to it, not ridden everything, not photographed everything 🙃. In recent years, the park has expanded significantly. Even without a tour, visiting the park is a real interactive journey into the past centuries of the beautiful land of Belarus. At the time of our visit, 4 restaurants in the center of the park ensure that numerous tourists do not go hungry. You can also buy delicious hot bread (whole grain, kvass, with honey) at the bakery and try it right away. You won't be left without souvenirs either. In each workshop you can buy themed souvenirs, and at the entrance to the park there is a main store. The atmosphere of the park is given not only by reconstruction and exhibits, but also by costumed staff, pets, colorful flowers, nature, and also music that sounds literally from the stones along the paths! At four o'clock the staff sighed sadly that they were serving the 54th group... The prices in the restaurant are decent, there is not much choice, the wait for a free seat is long due to the incredibly slow service. Along the route, the eye is not pleased with the unkemptness: broken paths, broken toilet locks, greasy stains on the menu in the restaurant. A good idea was turned into a place for pumping money in the worst sense of the word. Disappointed.

(Translated by Google) A very beautiful and largest lake in Belarus. There are many ducks and swans, a beautiful coastline with many sanatoriums. Due to the fact that people feed wild birds (which is prohibited), they live on the lake all year round. This caused the water in the lake to be polluted by parasitic larvae and causes the disease cercariasis, which is also called “swimmer’s itch.”

(Translated by Google) Great! If the weather is good, be sure to take a catamaran or a yacht (if the company is large), the cost of the first is 10 rubles/hour, the second 70 rubles/hour. There is nowhere to eat, come with your own food 😃 (Original) Здорово!

(Translated by Google) The largest lake in Belarus, a great place to enjoy nature. Clean water, fresh air, hot sun - what else is needed for happiness? You can fish, but you must purchase a fishing permit. I recommend it.

(Translated by Google) Naroch is the largest lake in Belarus. The area of its mirror is 79.6 km². The greatest depth is 24.8 m. The length of the greatest diameter is 12.8 km. The length of the coastline is 40 km (fourth place among the lakes of Belarus). The volume of water is 710 million m³ (first place among the lakes of Belarus). The catchment area is 199 km². The volume of water is 0.71 km³. Surface area - 79.62 km². The height above sea level is 165 m. A total of sixteen streams flow into the lake, in addition to them, the Skema channel from Lake Myastro flows into Naroch from the east side, and the Naroch River flows out from the southeast. Naroch is home to twenty-two species of fish (including eels), of which the largest is pike. On the lake and in the surrounding area there are nesting sites for mute swan, little tern, osprey, and little grebe. Lake Naroch appeared several thousand years ago, during the retreat of the glacier. The Sventsyanskaya ridge stood on the glacier’s path to the north. The water from the melting ice formed a huge body of water, from which subsequently, with a decrease in water level, lakes emerged that formed the Naroch group. Naroch is a typical representative of the nature of the north of Belarus - the Belarusian Lake District. During the First World War, the Naroch offensive operation took place in the vicinity of the lake in March 1916, the first attempt to liberate the territory of Belarus from the German occupiers. Despite the massive heroism shown by the Russian troops, the Naroch operation ended only in local success - the liberation of the city of Postavy and ten square kilometers of territory. The total number of dead and wounded on the Russian side was 78,000 people. In 1935, Vilnius photographer Jan Buglak published a book entitled “Narocz - the largest lake in Poland.” From 1935 to 1939, the lake was the subject of a fishing strike caused by the injustice of the agricultural and tax policies of the Polish Republic. On the shore of the lake there are settlements: the resort village of Naroch, the villages of Antonisberg, Simony, Cherevki, Pasynki, Nikoltsy, Gatovichi, Zanaroch, Zubrenevka, Borovye, Nanosy, Stepenevo. There are numerous sanatoriums, the oldest of which is the Naroch sanatorium (1963), the Zubrenok children's center.

Castle
Mir Castle, a 16th-century fortification located in the town of Mir, Belarus, is a stunning example of Gothic-style architecture. The castle has been beautifully renovated and now houses a museum with well-curated displays on the history of the Radziwills. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. Visitors can explore its impressive interiors and enjoy picturesque grounds that include an adjoining pond.
This is a really interesting castle for anyone! I am really happy I decided to go to the castle and learn more about the history of the region. It was well worth getting the audio guide! Their is too much stuff to simply read and get through. The curators did an amazing job allowing people to go through the different towers of the castle and having people explore the castle. It was really fun to climb through the different stairs and levels. Beware for the tall people the stairs were made for smaller men!

Mir Castle, located in Belarus, is one of the most prominent cultural heritages and recognized by UNESCO. This 16th century Renaissance castle is not only famous for its unique architecture but also associated with many mysterious stories and legends.

A wonderful thing about Belarus management of such landmarks, is that they turn whole area into an open museum, with all its lakes, fields, trees and animals. The place is full of history, arts and beauty of both architecture and nature.

This castle complex was by far my favorite tourist attraction in Belarus. It has been meticulously restored and the ticket covers entry to all aspects of the complex including the museum and cathedral. The signage was good and the personnel were friendly. The nearby Radziwill castle could learn about customer service from this castle. You could spend as much time as you like here and enjoy the beautiful parks surrounding the complex. I recommend at least one night in Mir to see the castle illuminated at night, at sunrise and at sunset. If I had known you can book a room in the castle I would have done that!

I don’t usually enjoy castles but this place was quite impressive and worth the ride from Minsk. Best way to reach is to rent a car for a day. Entrance to the courtyard and surrounding park is free.

Lida Castle, a restored citadel dating back to the 14th century, is steeped in legends and celebrated in literature. Once a magnificent residence of Deputy Chancellor Pawel Stefan Sapieha, it now stands in ruins. Built around 1610, the stone castle featured an entrance gate and chapel surrounded by ramparts and bastions. Despite not everything being restored yet, it remains one of the most ancient castles in Belarus.
A beautiful place. Anyone who is a fan of history would love it, but even if you're not, I think the atmosphere over there is calming . Ideal if you really want a short trip out of the city.

This castle looks interesting. Does not look like castles l get used to see in movies and books. Still it is worth visiting. Not really huge, however conveys the Mediterranean atmosphere.

Great ancient Lithuanian castle in the middle of the town. Some heavy handed reconstruction efforts are evident all over the facade.

Small restored castle. But there's nothing to see.

Visiting the castle is totally worthy. It is in very good condition, well renovated, and a lot of rooms are accessible. Won't spoil the visit, but there's a lot to see and do, like playing with middle age toys and seating in the different rooms.
