We did this hiking walk from El Bosque Town to Benamahoma. The entrance was not well signposted on the El Bosque town side if you are a tourist in the area, but we asked 2 local ladies who gave us ample instructions. This is a walk that you must not miss if you are in the area. The nearer you got to Benamahoma, the more beautiful the river became. The walk is fairly simple, although some areas might be more tricky if you have mobility issues. It was supposed to take about 2 hours at a comfortable pace, but we stopped several times to admire the areas and the beautiful birds. On reaching Benamahoma, there are public toilets very clean and well kept. Restrictions in the area are no swimming in the river or putting up picnic chairs, etc.
Annabelle C — Google review
Beautiful track, really worth it! You can walk in a circle, when you reach the botanical garden be careful not to walk down, there is a sign that you have to go down, but that’s directing you to a local bar. The gardens are closing @1500.
Sietse M — Google review
We loved this short route. We did it by road bikes (bad idea, we had to carry them most of the way) but it's a medium difficult path on foot. And the possibility of cooling yourself in the brook is exceptional! Just please take your garbage with you!
Viktor K — Google review
Excellent hike for most. Along the small river and lots of shade. Got busy mid day but not much people around 9
Andreas F — Google review
Awesome trail along the stream (officially a river) from Benamahoma to El Bosque, about 10 km round trip. The trail is shaded along much of it's route which helps keep it cool even on a hot day (is was 30+ degrees when we walked it but with the shade it was fine). There are some rocky sections and stone stairs so you need to be in reasonable shape but in general an easy trail.
Dave C — Google review
Nice and easy walk, very refreshing with a lot of shade. We were told that it can be very busy during the Weekends, so we went on Thursday and we didn't see many people there.
Laimonas G — Google review
Nice easy walk. Lot's of shade cover. Avoid at the weekends as it can get very busy.
Free S — Google review
Brilliant walk, about 1hr 30 mins each way. Loads of waterfalls and a really enjoyable few hours in nature. With a nice drink half way.

Historical landmark
The Alcázar de la Puerta de Sevilla in Carmona is a historical site that showcases remains of defensive walls, gates, and palace structures built by various rulers throughout history. The fortress, which was restored in the 14th and 15th centuries and later in the 1970s, now houses the Carmona Tourist Information Office.
Fun locale for viewing the town. Gorgeous on a sunny autumn afternoon 👍🏽
Ramon C — Google review
A town full of history. The castle was the best choice to visit, amazing view over the city.
Legend C — Google review
Great place to visit if you want to understand the city better. This fortress was first built way before roman times. You can clearly see the roman ruins and the ruins of the Arabic period, but the first layer of stones is from the Carthaginian period. The folder gives you a lot of explanation, as well as the texts you can find in one of the rooms. Audio is only in Spanish. Booking required for guided visits.
June A — Google review
One of the oldest towns in europe. Great side trip from Seville. The parking is reasonable, with no entrance fee for the old walled city. There are several museums and churches to visit. A very laid back yet intersting place.
John S — Google review
Wonderful architecture, a vast palace with several big gardens full of history. Be aware that, because of COVID19, you can only buy tickets online with credit card (code generator machine needed), so if you are coming from an outside country buy the tickets in advance.
Gonzalo M — Google review
On part of the old fortress walls in Carmona. Still majestic though only a small part of it remains. A great place to take photos or climb to the top to see the surrounding area.
Dan — Google review
Hours of history to explore. You can even use your phone for the audio guide. You can purchase tickets online to skip the line to buy them in person.
Joe S — Google review
If you don't go up this place, you can't say you've seen this city. This is the most beautiful view point. If I should choose between a famous restaurant and this place in Carmosa, I choose this puerta.

The Roman Necropolis of Carmona is a significant archaeological site that reflects the town's rich history and cultural influences from various civilizations. It dates back to ancient times and showcases well-preserved tombs, including the Tomb of Servilia and the Tomb of the Elephant. Situated on a hill overlooking the surrounding area, this expansive site offers visitors an opportunity to explore its historical significance through interpretation boards and an introduction video available in multiple languages.
This is the most amazing Roman necropolis and really worth a visit. Apparently the mother of Brutus who stabbed Julius Caesar is buried here. Maybe.

I loved the visit. You can ask for an introduction video of 20 minutes in your native language (at least English and French). The site shows pictures and explanation that throw you back in time.

Roman Necropolis on top of a hill overlooking surrounding area. It’s an beautiful area. Museum is very small. The necropolis contains the famous elephant tomb where a rich aristocrat’s family was thought to have been buried.

Necropolis, small museum, nice park. No access to underground tombs. Free entry.
Mikko M — Google review
A great archeological site with an interesting museum and one of the most unique necropolis I've seen in any roman town across Europe. A must see when visiting Carmona!

Basílica de Santa María de la Asunción

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
The Basílica de Santa María de la Asunción, located in Plaza del Cabildo, is a stunning church with a mix of architectural styles. Its southern facade features an elaborate 18th-century Baroque belfry, while the west side boasts a beautifully carved Plateresque doorway. The interior is a treasure trove of ornate Baroque choir stalls, intricate vaulting, and a lavish Renaissance altarpiece.
Smaller church on top of the hill and took about 10-15min from the center of the town. Slippery roads when wet but with majestic view of the valley down below. Overall we like this white village but can the residents clean up their dog poops? These land mines were everywhere.
DANNY L — Google review
This was our third visit to Arcos de la Frontera and the first time the church was open and it did not disappoint with lots of beautiful artwork and a beautiful alter. Admission was just €2. This is a late Gothic hall-church, with three naves of equal height and a monumental curved apse. The naves are separated by circular pillars made of beamed rods, supporting complex star-ribbed vaults. Although everything inside is worthy of admiration, it is worth noting the Retablo Mayor, an altarpiece which is a true Renaissance jewel; the Gothic mural painting; the uncorrupted mummy of San Felix; the Nieves chapel which houses the image of the patron of Arcos; the extravagant organ and the choir, considered one of the best in Andalusia.
Liam C — Google review
This basilica is a beautiful display of how rich this region used to be during the 14 - 17th century. Almost everything here is made of gold. And the scale of the carvings and central display is huge. Additionally, the viewing tower is a definite must to see and hear. There are many bells on the top that sing every hour. And the views of the area can be captured here on the tower. Overall, this is a must visit when in Arcos.
C N — Google review
You can't come to Arcod de la Frontera without going up the tower of this church! Amazing views and the church itself is a delight.
Daniel ( — Google review
Did not go in as it was closed but it is beautiful from the outside too
P G — Google review
Impressive church from out and inn. And the church bell tower is worth special attention. It is worth to climb 100 steps for breathtaking views of the town and surroundings. One of the best tower views you can find in Spain!
Igor F — Google review
Beautiful basilica on top of the hill! Beautiful small white hill town of Arcos 1hr fr Seville. Love the hill town, the food (payoya cheese and conejo) and the scenery ( Parador, Basilica, white houses view of the Guadalete river)
Dexter C — Google review
This largely Gothic styled church was built around the 15th century. It sits atop the limestone cliffs of Arcos on Plaza del Cabildo - a square which is essentially a carpark and also the location of the Parador de Turismo. You'll be rewarded with some great views overlooking the countryside from the mirador or visit the bar in the Parador for an even better view and a refreshing drink after the steep climb to get here. If you're mobility restricted there is a small car park here and also taxis (probably the best option as the street are very narrow in places).

Beautiful park right next to the Plaza de España. We went there for a quiet stroll after visiting the Plaza de España. In the park you can find shade, made beautiful trees, plants and a wide variety of animals. We also enjoyed the art in the park and the quiet sounds of the trees, the bushes and the animals. Go there if you want a quiet break in the warm city.

The park is so beautiful and lovely! I simply enjoyed the vibe here and had a wonderful time just taking a morning walk in it. You can feel the balanced mixture of nature and human in this place, all the colors and cool architectures are also making visiting this place a unique experience. Definitely recommend to come and visit, such a nice place to chill and relax.
CHIN — Google review
The world famous Plaza de Espana is residing inside the Maria Luisa Park. After watching so many beautiful pictures of this place, I finally made it to get there this past July. Though the weather was scorching hot at >95F during the summer, it was still rewarding to visit this magnificent place. The Plaza was built around 1928 to show case Spanish heritages and history. Thus you can find sections of the regions decorted by colorful ceramic tiles to illustrate their cultures. The plaza has a built-in small canal for boating. But it was closed at the time when an outdoors concert was set up, incidently, the concert stage also consumed most of the plaza real estate. But that did not stop the daily activities at the plaza. A group of artists performed the Flamenco dance in the square, which really highlighted the Spaniards' passion. I was told the dance was originated in Seville. And Seville used to be the center of Spain before Madrid became the Capital. The are plenty of suveniors to buy at the square. The most popular one is probably the castanet after watching the Flemenco dance. Highly recommend this place if you visit Sevelli.

🌿 Review: Parque de María Luisa – Seville, Spain An extraordinary place! Parque de María Luisa is one of the most beautiful and spacious parks in Seville. Located just steps away from the iconic Plaza de España, it’s the perfect spot to fully enjoy the outdoors. The park has a wonderful atmosphere — parts of it feel peaceful and romantic, ideal for a quiet walk or a date, while other areas are perfect for children and families. Whether you’re going alone, with a partner, or with a group, there’s something for everyone. As someone from Argentina, I brought my mate and had an absolutely amazing time. It’s a great place to sit under the trees, relax, have a picnic or some tea, and just enjoy the surroundings. The public restrooms are clean and well maintained. Dogs are welcome, and there are open areas where people can relax or play — including picnic zones, which I loved. 🟢 Highly recommended! Definitely one of my favorite parks in Seville. A must-visit if you’re in the city.
LARA R — Google review
This beautiful park is an absolute oasis in the heart of Seville, offering a truly peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle. I spent hours simply strolling through the lush gardens, marveling at the vibrant greenery and the intricate tilework. Every corner reveals another picturesque scene, from the grand Plaza de España, with its stunning architecture, to the quieter, more tranquil ponds and fountains. It's incredibly spacious, so even on a busy day, you can always find a serene spot to relax and soak in the atmosphere. This is undeniably a must-visit for anyone coming to Seville; you'll leave feeling refreshed and invigorated. The sheer scale and beauty make it highly recommended for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty and historic charm. It's a testament to the city's dedication to preserving its iconic green spaces, truly a breathtaking experience.

Lovely park with beautiful plants, lots of animals and a bunch of interesting sights. Perfect for both a walk and also just to chill due to several benches where you can relax in the shadow. Cicadas can be a bit loud depending on the season and the horse carriages leave behind their dumps everywhere, leading to bad smell at some areas.
Wladislav S — Google review
What a fantastic place to visit, and walk around. We used the Hop on Hop off bus to get there, it was so easy. You can spend a couple of hours walking round.
Stuart C — Google review
The Parque de María Luisa is far more than a city park; it is a sprawling, 34-hectare historical landmark that perfectly captures the romantic and decorative spirit of Seville. Originally the private gardens of the Palace of San Telmo, the land was donated to the city by Princess María Luisa Fernanda de Borbón in 1893. It was completely redesigned by French landscape architect Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier in preparation for the great Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, transforming it into the enchanting "Moorish paradisiacal style" masterpiece you see today. The park is a vital escape from the Andalusian heat, offering lush, shaded pathways, ornamental ponds, and incredible architecture. Architectural and Historical Highlights The park serves as a green buffer connecting the historic centre with the grand pavilions of the 1929 Exposition, many of which remain as museums today. 1. Plaza de España (The Crown Jewel) • Style: Neo-Mudéjar and Renaissance Revival. • Description: This immense, semi-circular building is the park's centerpiece. It features a navigable moat (where you can rent row boats), four ornate bridges, and beautiful arcades. Its most famous feature is the continuous wall of tiled alcoves, with each one dedicated to a different province of Spain, displaying historical scenes and a seating bench. It is a mandatory photo opportunity and often cited as one of Spain's most magnificent architectural achievements. 2. Plaza de América (The Dove Park) • Description: Located at the southern end of the park, this square is a beautiful, formal garden setting surrounded by three major buildings from the Expo: • Pabellón Mudéjar: Now houses the Museum of Arts and Popular Customs (Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares). • Pabellón Real: A smaller, richly decorated building. • Pabellón de Bellas Artes: Now the Archaeological Museum (Museo Arqueológico). Fountains, Statues, and Gardens Forestier’s design created a truly romantic atmosphere, blending geometric Moorish layouts with European romanticism. • Fountain of the Lions (Fuente de los Leones): An octagonal fountain featuring four sculpted lions spitting water, decorated with colorful azulejo tiles. • Glorieta de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer: A moving monument dedicated to the famous Spanish Romantic poet, featuring a massive cypress tree and marble statues representing three aspects of love: that which arrives, that which is possessed, and that which is lost. • Mount Gurugú (Monte Gurugú): An artificial hill with a waterfall and a small gazebo at the top, offering pleasant views over the surrounding landscape. • Flora: The park is also a botanical garden, featuring palms, orange trees, pines, and vibrant flower beds, creating cool, shaded pathways for strolling. Visitor Tips and Activities • Admission: Entry to the Parque de María Luisa is free for all visitors. You only pay if you enter the museums or rent a boat/bike. • Getting Around: The park is large (34 hectares). You can rent pedal quad bikes (ideal for families) or standard bicycles to cover more ground quickly. • Best Time to Visit: Go early in the morning for the most peaceful experience and to enjoy the cool air before the midday heat. The park is open late in the summer (usually until midnight). • Nearby: The park is right next to the Guadalquivir River, and the Real Alcázar de Sevilla and the Cathedral are within a 15-minute walk, making it easy to combine them into a single itinerary. Conclusion Parque de María Luisa is a quintessential Sevillian experience. It's the perfect place to pause between historical sights, enjoy the exuberant Andalusian architecture, and appreciate the city's unique cultural fusion. If you loved the Mudéjar style of the Real Alcázar, you will adore the architectural detail and expansive beauty of this park.

Plaza de España is a landmark square in Seville, featuring a large water feature, seats adorned with painted ceramic tiles, and an ornate pavilion. It's a great spot for families to visit, as kids can enjoy exploring the plaza while adults admire its inspiring architecture. To engage children, you can introduce them to the plaza by showing them scenes from Star Wars where it was featured.
What can i say, stunning place, looks like heaven. The azulejos, the towers, the horses, the bridges with boats under, everything perfect. Is a masterpiece that everyone must visit. In there you will find various street artists and see some flamenco as well. This place is better than what you see in the photos, it gives a vibe and freedom feeling.

The amounts spent on these construction projects are just mind-blowing. And when you remember how many people lost their health or even died there, it gets uncomfortable. 1. Tourists today admire the marble, the gold, the columns—but for someone, all this cost a life. Nobody remembers the names of the workers, though nothing would exist without them. 2. Sometimes I look at these buildings and think: was all this beauty really worth those sacrifices? For some, it’s a symbol of the nation, but for others, it’s years and strength lost. Honestly, I’m always a bit envious of the architects of that time—to plan something on this scale takes real talent. But at the same time, I feel for those who paid for this “eternity” with their health. I can’t feel just one way about it. The architecture is impressive, but the price was enormous. Sometimes you look at a cathedral and realize there’s a heavy shadow behind all that beauty. What about you? Can you just admire places like these, or do you also think about the price?

Sept 2025. Wow! Time was lost as soon as we arrived. Spent a good part of the day just cruising around this gorgeous place and beautiful parks surrounding it. Was easy to walk around, not hoards of tourists (even though i was one haha). The water and bright green flora just popped colour against the majestic architectural marvel that commands its prescence in a humongous semicircle. There are 52 mosaics with tiles representing each province (i didnt count them to check ok). The beautiful Vicente Traver Fountain is in the centre with bridges crossing the canal, good photo opportunities!! It was also a back drop for Star Wars II. Cool. Rent a boat and bob around the small canals for something a bit different, you may spot some fish swimming happily underneath and ducks nurturing their babies, cute as. Part of the building is used by government institutions too. There were some VERY talented musicians playing underneath/amongst the super grand stairways leading up to some great viewpoints. And when you're done with all the beauty of this place, you can check out a couple of stalls out the front, then walk and embark on another adventure, the grand parks and grounds surrounding this place emersed with its own history and beauty. Great place for fitness and many people running, cycling, walking and chilling. My advice, don't skip this place, its a feast for the soul ;)

Oh my goodness. This is an absolute must to see. Worth coming to Seville just to see this. It's absolutely stunning and photos cannot do it justice. As you walk around it, you get to see yet another photo you just have to take. Can't recommend this more. Also, next to it resides a stunning park with lots of interesting structures or features interspersed within it. I recommend doing a zigzag walk through it to find them all. Made for a very satesfying day

Visited Plaza de España in Seville early in the morning in October 2025 to beat the crowds. Built in the 1920s, it features stunning semi-circular architecture blending Spanish Renaissance and Moorish styles, with colorful tiles, fountains, canals, and ornate bridges—truly a photogenic and iconic landmark. When we visited, the canal was dry, but when filled, visitors can row boats along the curved canal for a unique view of the bridges and colonnades. Horse-drawn carriage rides around the plaza and nearby Parque de María Luisa offer a classic, leisurely way to explore the area. We also saw a couple of locals selling souvenirs on the ground. A must-see when visiting Seville!

The Plaza de España is one of the most beautiful squares I have ever seen. The majestic central palace blends seamlessly with the serene water canal, creating a truly breathtaking scene. In front of the square, there is a charming garden that adds even more to the beauty of the place. You can also admire the detailed mosaics, each one depicting the history of a different Spanish city—a wonderful way to explore the country’s heritage in one spot. Best of all, the entrance is free, and I highly recommend visiting if you come to Seville.

Magnificent! A simply amazing place to visit. Nobody wouldn't like the beautiful architectures and the smart designs. It really deserves the name of "Plaza de España", it truly shows how grand an empire was and how brilliant the people were. Visited twice, both in the morning and the evening, and both breathtakingly beautiful. I really like the fountain, not a big fan of the horse carts though. In general really a landmark and nice place you wouldn't want to miss when in Seville.

The Royal Alcázar of Seville is a landmark Moorish royal palace featuring fountain-filled gardens, ornate arches, and 16th-century tiles. It is considered one of the finest examples of Mudejar architecture in Spain, showcasing a blend of Moorish and Renaissance styles. The palace complex has a rich history dating back to the 10th century when it was initially built as a Moorish fortress.
A seriously beautiful palace. Architecture is nothing short of amazing. The gardens are well keep, even in the heat. You can easily spend a few hours here. Enter at the lions gate. Lines moves quickly to get in. Buy timed ticket online. Water closet, cafe and gift shop inside.
Toni S — Google review
Make sure you book at least one to two weeks in advance — it fills up fast, and with good reason. The Alcázar is absolutely breathtaking. The detail in the architecture is something else — arches, tiles, carvings, gardens… it’s a living masterpiece. The Mudejar style (that blend of Islamic and Christian design) gives it such a layered, soulful feel. You can really feel the history here — not just see it. We decided to book the 8:30am VIP tour with GetYourGuide, and it was one of the best decisions of our trip. No queues, no chaos — we were inside before the heat and the crowds. Anna, our guide, was phenomenal. So passionate, informed, and completely in love with the place — her energy brought it all to life. Worth every single cent. Go early, go with a guide, and take it all in slowly.

The Royal Alcazar of Seville is a beautiful palace & garden in the centre of the historic old town centre of Seville. Architecture & art from the 11th century are on display - from the Andalusian era, Gothic from the time of Alfonso X, & Mudejar from the time of Pedro I. The carved plaster & stone wall friezes, colourful geometric wall tiles, & Mudejar painted & copper covered mahogany wooden ceilings are exquisite. The formal gardens are extensive & offer glimpses of water pools & fountains, amongst trees & sculptured hedges. Booking in advance is essential, & allow up to 3 hours for the visit. There is a really nice cafe in the garden, serving drinks, cakes, & light snacks, & this is reasonably priced. This is a world heritage site for good reason - this is truly a world class historic attraction. 10/10.

We spent an entire afternoon visiting this his historic royal palace. We enjoyed meandering through the rooms and admiring the art and architecture. The gardens outside were so beautiful and offered additional views of the exterior architecture. We walked, sat, and admired the beauty all around us.

Honestly, the place is pure magic. I’ve seen countless pictures, but nothing prepared me for how breathtaking it is in person. The sheer amount of detail in the architecture is incredible, and you can see so much history in the different styles. The gardens are a whole other level—they're huge and so beautiful, with hidden corners and fountains everywhere. It’s the perfect escape from the city heat. I could have happily spent the entire day just wandering through them. My biggest recommendation, especially if you're visiting in the summer, is to pre-book your tickets online. Seriously, don't even think about showing up to buy them on the day. The lines can be absolutely brutal, and you'll spend a ton of time waiting in the heat. Booking online gets you a specific time slot and lets you skip the main queue, so you can head straight to security and start exploring right away. It's the best way to make sure you get in and make the most of your visit without any stress.

Amazing palace and gardens. Don't just go there during the day. The light show Naturaleza Encendida in the evenings (Oct till March, I think) is well worth the separate ticket too (dress well, it's much more chilly inside the gardens than outside in the streets).
Chavdar S — Google review
Nice building. Beautiful architecture and gardens. Everything is beautiful, but I wasn't blown away by it. I'm not sure why, and think it's either personal preference or my mood that day. I wish more places included arrows or maps because we nearly missed a lot of what there is to see.
Rhiannon — Google review
Interesting to see a castle transition from Muslim to Christian nobility. Very few people venture far into the gardens, so peaceful. While the tickets are timed, you can show up to 30 minutes after the selected time. If after your selected time, you can just walk in without the line. The free audio guide is good, although you have to skip through advertising for the paid version.

La Giralda is a stunning Spanish Renaissance-style minaret with a Gothic and baroque bell tower. It's part of the diverse and beautiful monuments in Seville, including the Cathedral, Reales Alcazares, Torre del Oro, Plaza de Espana, Maria Luisa Park, and more. Seville offers an array of tourism options from historical tours to tapas and wine tours.
We did the 20.30 roof tour and it's absolutely fantastic. Did not except that we were able to see this much of one of the greatest and most beautiful monuments of Spain. Very kind and knowledged guide, good working head sets. Very fair price if you see what you get. Would recommend to everyone who can climb a few narrow stairs (you go up all the way).

Legendary building in Sevilla This is a beautiful tower in Andalusia. Part of the BIG 3 you have to do, with the Mezquita, the Giralda and obviously l'Alhambra. The Giralda is a beautiful tower sitting right in the town centre or the old town. It is a fabulous building and looks really grand. It can obviously be visited but you really need to book for this like most impressive sites in Spain. Highly recommended we really enjoyed it!
Paul V — Google review
We visited on a weekday afternoon and had to line up several times — first to get in, then again for audio guides, and finally to enter La Giralda. The tower is well laid out, with around 35 ramps and rest stops along the way for those who need them. Most people should be able to make the climb without too much trouble. However, it was extremely crowded. The path is narrow, so you go up and down in a single file, often shoulder to shoulder with others. Once at the top, you line up again just to get a view out of each window, and there are fences that make it hard to get a clear look. There didn’t seem to be any real crowd control at the top, which really took away from the experience. If you’re claustrophobic, I’d skip this part. There are plenty of other great spots in Seville to see panoramic views of the city. The cathedral itself was much more enjoyable — there were clear signs and pamphlets explaining the art and architecture. That said, unless you get the audio guide, there’s not much context provided about the tower itself.
Dani — Google review
La Giralda is a former Muslim minaret transformed into a church bell tower, symbolizing the fascinating transition from one culture to another. The construction itself is magnificent, a true masterpiece of architecture. Be prepared for a bit of a workout—the climb to the top can be challenging, but it’s absolutely worth it. The panoramic views of Seville from above are breathtaking. I highly recommend this unforgettable experience.
Murillo P — Google review
The area encompassing the open area next to the Seville Cathedral and surroundings. The history is amazing. There is a large sistern below the outdoor open area enclosed by the walls of the Giralda. This was essential for providing clean cool water to the town in antiquity. The Guadalquivir River was likely not the best place to get drinking water due to the number of upstream towns and villages likely dumping sewer into the river.
Hayes W — Google review
The tour is about 35 ramps with only steps at the end so easier to manage for old and young. Originally it was so guards on horseback could ride to the top. It was totally busy at 4 pm on a Monday in October. Tickets in advance are necessary unless it’s really off season. Shoulders must be covered and anyone showing up in a tank top could buy a wrap for 3€. They said legs should be covered to the knees but there were plenty of shorts that they didn’t make an issue of.
Jan B — Google review
Giralda is the tower of the Sevilla Cathedral. It has no steps, just a continuous ramp up to the top, which makes it very easy to climb. The space is wide for a bell tower. The views from the top are amazing. I bought the tickets online, so there was no waiting for us.
Andrei M — Google review
The interior of this cathedral was very ornate with beautiful gold sculptures. I bought a ticket for a smaller Church nearby which included a ticket to the cathedral. This allowed me to bypass the very long line to buy tickets at the cathedral. The other church was nice too.

Setas de Sevilla, also known as Las Setas, is a striking and modern architectural installation in Seville. Designed by German architect Jurgen Mayer, it is recognized as the world's largest wooden structure. The mushroom-shaped parasol offers visitors the opportunity to explore an archaeological museum and take in panoramic views of the city from its rooftop walkway and viewpoint.
Very impressed by the structure. Didn't take as long as I thought to walk around the structure. Nice surprise if the film if Seville. Enjoyed the free audio tour describing the different points on the walk. Couple of points to note 1. Entrance is at the south end going down. You'll see lifts going up, go to the side and the entrance to the walkway is down wards. 2. Toilets are in the market area. We went at 10am and it was still being set up. The walkway was quiet, but not much going on beneath 3. Stay and watch the 180 degree video on Seville at the end. It was a good show. 4. My family went in the morning. Come back at night to see the night light show.

We bought our tickets in advance for 22:00 but luckily we were able to change the time of the ticket to see the sunset from here. It was absolutely stunning and nice to have a view from above. Unfortunately we had to leave for another appointment before seeing the light show at night. But if you have time linger around. This was great!

One of the best parts of my 3 months in Europe traveling!! A beautiful structure you could spend hours looking over the city at. I went at 6:45 after booking an online reservation about 2 days prior due to still being lots of tourists in the area. It was the perfect time! I beat somewhat of the sunset rush, so I could explore the structure and see it during the daytime. Then returned to the main viewpoint to watch the sunset and the lights turn on. It does get extremely busy around sunset, with very little space at the top miradouro. A rooftop bar in the surrounding area would have just as good views with less crowds BUT staying up after sunset allows you to see the lights turn on from the top which is SOO cool. The little film they show at the end is interesting and the theater is well kept with comfortable seating. Well worth the €16 I spent for full admission!

I enjoyed the Setas. It's a large structure made to resemble mushrooms. There is a deck above the ground level which anybody can access. The view is nice. You can also pay yo go up on an elevator to the top for a view of the city. There is an indoor market in the ground floor area that has all sorts of vendors. They have various good seafood vendors. There are coffee shops and tapas bars. It's a neat place to hang out got a while and just browse. If your in Seville for a couple days it's well worth checking out.
Hayes W — Google review
Love the look of the design and was pleasantly surprised at how well the structure fitted into the surroundings. If you wish to see the sunset, buy tickets at least 2 days in advance. We didn't buy tickets to see the sunset because we bought them 24 hours before, and the first available tickets were at 20:00. This is a good time to see the light show. The light show is with music, and it is a little crowded, but everyone gets a chance to take photos and videos if they wait for a few minutes. You can watch a short movie included in the ticket, and I suggest watching it. You can spend as much time there as you want. It's a must-visit when in Seville.
Monika — Google review
Standing beneath this structure and looking up is truly awe inspiring. In the evening, colored lights are shifting and moving around inside the structure which makes it even more magical. Underneath this statue at the ground level is a market for meat, fish and a couple tapas bars that are also quite good. The market is only open in the morning and early afternoon. At one end of the statue is a large staircase where there is often live music played by street musicians. Down below the market are some Roman ruins.
Phil B — Google review
Personally I felt this was a huge let down. It is amazing from the ground but you could see certain blocks that weren’t lighting up, but we had to see what the hype was about, so we paid the $16 euros each and went to the top. The idea is a good one with light mood music being played and the lights moving and lighting in unison to the music. The downside to this is the street performers directly below you playing AC/DC, Guns N Roses, and, I kid you not, N-Sync. These performers drown out any music related to the lights. Next for the lights. They need to do some maintenance, because a large percentage of the lights aren’t working, you can see this in the pics and videos. Basically they built something that is cool in concept but they haven’t maintained it. The only reason I gave 3 stars instead of two is for the immersive movie at the end, very cool and a must see. Pretty much all I found this good for was to go up to have a 360* view of the skyline and sights but it is DEFINITELY NOT worth $16 euros, maybe 8-10.
Stuart R — Google review
A nice, mostly wooden structure with a great viewpoint. At the top there’s a walkway and an information board showing which landmarks you’re looking at. In my opinion it’s nicer in the evening, because the landmarks are lit up and the structure itself has a light show. The entrance fee of €16 per person is a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth it.

The Alcázar de Jerez de la Frontera is a Moorish castle complex that offers a glimpse into the city's rich history. The site houses Arab baths, a palace with a camera obscura, and a tower providing stunning views of the city. Visitors can explore the historic center of Jerez on guided tours, where they'll encounter remnants of Roman, Muslim, and Phoenician influences.
Fantastic alcazar with nice gardens, an old mosque/church, hamam baths and a reproduction of an ancient olive oil production machine. The cost of 5€ is nothing compared to the site itself. Definitely worth a visit!

An amazing building but a fascinating history right in the heart of Jerez. The building features both Christian and Islamic architecture reflecting the history of the area. You can go up the tower and walk some of the walks too. All in all exceedingly good value for €5 (concessions available-ask)

Amazing old fortress to visit, a must do. We went on a Wednesday at 4.30pm, and did not have to wait to enter. This gave us 1.5 hours before closing time (last entry at 5.30pm) to view the complete complex (more than enough time). The tower and bathhouse are very interesting. It takes some effort to climb the staircase to the top of the octagonal tower, but well worth it.
Simon R — Google review
I found this a really interesting historical site covering the occupation of the area by both Islamic and Christian religions. I enjoyed the architecture and the way the fortress was designed to ensure survival by harvesting rainwater and a well for water from the local aquifer.
Ian W — Google review
Well worth the visit. Cheap entrance fee for the historical lesson. The building doesn't have too much on display, could host a lot more, seems empty other than an old pharmacy display, a few paintings and quite a lot of neat posters. The real deal here is the garden and the side buildings with their history and roles on display.

The Cathedral of Jerez de la Frontera, also known as Colegiata de Nuestro Señor San Salvador, is a Catholic church with a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Located in the Plaza del Arenal, this magnificent structure boasts a domed ceiling, an elaborate facade, and a detached bell tower that showcases both Gothic-Mudejar and Baroque architectural styles.
Absolutely beautiful building. Terrific tour at your own pace, listening in your own language to the guide as you move around the numbered points within the church itself and the attached buildings. We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend to everyone.

Nice cathedral, with a lot of light and ample spaces. There's also a small treasure museum and a VR-experience included in the ticket, which is of 8€ per adult, in my opinion too much though, for what the cathedral has to offer.

A must-see cathedral around Sevilla. I was amazed by its collection of silver holy items and thought this place was so underrated 🙃 I had no difficulties to find a place of parking nearby, after having enjoyed a local restaurant next to the Jerez cathedral, we headed to bell tower and entered the cathedral. There was not so crowded as it was a Tuesday, much more exciting than in weekends.

Simon A — Google review
Visited the Cathedral of Jerez de la Frontera. Entry fee: 8 euros — greeted by the audio guide thanking me for my “generous donation.” The cathedral is beautiful, but really, that’s it. The audio guide goes on and on in epic detail for what is, frankly, a rather small site. Nearby palace costs 5 euros and offers much more for your money. I bailed after the “most beautiful” number — stunning, but my patience (and wallet) had limits. Architecture is impressive, yes. Price-performance ratio? Not even close. Go if you must, but bring your sense of humor… and a bigger wallet.

I bought 2 tickets for a guided tour of the Cathedral (not an audio-guide but an actual human guide) believing it to be in English, but it turned out to be in Spanish. This mistake was pointed out to me by the ladies at the ticket office, who first tried to rearrange the tour for another day and then, when that wasn’t possible because of our travel plans, arranged for an English-speaking colleague of theirs to come to the Cathedral and provide the tour. Alberto, who actually works at the nearby San Miguel church, arrived within 10 minutes and delivered a superb, informative tour that lasted over 2 hours. A history graduate and self-taught English speaker, Alberto provided an enormous amount of information and insight about the Cathedral and Jerez and, considering that the Cathedral doesn’t presently provide guided tours in English and that he had about 15 minutes notice, he did an amazing job. We have been fortunate enough to enjoy guided tours in Ronda, Granada and Cordoba and Alberto’s was by far the most enjoyable - he is an asset to the organisation that looks after the Jerez monuments, and we hope that guided tours in English become a regular part of their service offering; in Alberto they have an excellent guide. Many thanks also to the ladies at the Cathedral ticket office for their patience and resourcefulness in arranging our tour and turning a negative into a huge positive experience. This was one of our highlights so far of our 15 days travelling around Andalusia.

From basic introductory tours to VIP experiences including vineyard visits and wine pairings, there's something for every enthusiast.
A great experience. Our guide was excellent and the tour was very educational. Well organised and plenty of time allowed for picture taking and questions. The tasting and tapas were perfect. Recommend going for the 4 wines and tapas option.

Great tour around the premies of Bodega Tio Pepe and the González Byass Sherry house. Started with a train ride around the park and buildings and then a guided tour in a lot of the historical buildings of the wine yard. We ended with a Sherry tasting with some small tapas. I recommend the large package to experience it all, it was so interesting. In the end you passing thru the gift shops with the full sherry assortment and more. I would definitely come back if I’m visiting Jerez again.

Our visit to Bodega Tio Pepe was an unforgettable experience! As soon as we stepped inside, we were enveloped by the rich aromas of aging wine and the sight of countless barrels lined up, each telling its own story. The sheer scale of the bodega was impressive, and it was fascinating to learn about the traditional process of sherry production. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, sharing insights about the history of Tio Pepe and the unique characteristics of their wines. Walking through the barrel room felt like stepping back in time, and we loved hearing about the craftsmanship that goes into each bottle. The highlight of the tour was definitely the tasting session. Sampling the different sherries was a treat, and we appreciated how the guide explained the nuances of each variety. The pairing with local tapas was a delightful touch, enhancing the flavors and creating a perfect pairing experience. Overall, our time at Bodega Tio Pepe was both educational and enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it easy to relax and soak in the experience. I highly recommend this visit to anyone who enjoys wine or wants to learn more about sherry in a beautiful setting!

I don't understand why some people have given such negative reviews. I suspect they are just grumpy folk with a short fuse. Our couple of hours were great. Started off with a little train ride (actually bus pulling mini wagons, but still cute) around the grounds (a huge plot they own in the centre of town next to the cathedral) (I have given 4* instead of 5* as I would have preferred to stroll around the wonderfully ornate gardens on my own, at my own pace, but this isn't an option thus remove 1*). Then a little walking tour through the old factory and storage rooms. Our guide was gentle and informative. Ending up with the tasting of 4 different sherries. I would recommend the max tasting package. For the extra €5 you get two extra glasses of sherry, well worth it IMHO. All in all, a great way to get gently pickled and taste some great drinks.

Didn't try any other Bodega Tours but maybe should have done a bit more research. Maybe it was our guide but didn't feel as though we learnt much about the why or how of Sherry production. Also thought the 'tapas' represented very poor value in a city of great Tapas. €100 for a family of 4 (obviously no Sherry for the kids) seemed a lot

A very interesting tour in a very impressive bodega steeped in history. We bought a tour and a tasting (with 4 wines, but no food package). Firstly, the good stuff: lots of history, lovely environment, very interesting tour guide who was clearly passionate about the history of Tio Pepe/GB. Now the not so good: As many reviews have pointed out, the tour groups are simply too big. You feel like cattle being shunted around. Whilst the bodega has lots of ambience, the tasting area feels like a laboratory! It's bright, even stark. Plain white tables and chairs. Everyone (and there is a mass of people) is pushed together. It feels very impersonal, more like a production line. If you don't order the food package, you get absolutely nothing with your sherry tasting. Not even a tiny packet of bread snacks. I thought that was pretty poor. Many people did order food, and from what I could see, it didn't look that great. There seemed to be quite a bit left on the serving plates as we left. Afterwards, we went to a nearby bar, full of ambience and locals, and had great tapas. So, all in all, a nice tour, but it could have been so much better. We are going to another tour tomorrow at a much smaller, less commercial bodega. My hopes are high and my fingers crossed...
Mike P — Google review
First off, we bought a tour that included sherry tasting and tapas. The tour was interesting and informative but Tio Pepe are capitalising on the tourist market and there were FAR too many people booked on the tours going on in parallel in different languages. Killing the goose that lays the golden egg is probably close to the truth. As many have said here, and I should have listened to them, the tapas option isn't worth bothering with. Better to have a meal in a good tapas place once you've finished the tour. In summary: informative & interesting, too many people booked in, sherry tasting - yep - gives you a different perspective on sherry, tapas - don't bother. Might want to try another bodegas that is less busy?
Paul O — Google review
The tours are excellent, friendly helpful guides. Suggest buying the 4 wine tasting as it's worth the money. Our guide was amazing, however to be 5 stars they could reduce tour sizes (30 per group) so they could attend to the tasting better and be a bit less rushed.

Bodegas Tradicion is a charming winery located in Jerez, specializing in sherry production. Despite being one of the younger bodegas in the area, it boasts some of the oldest and most exquisite sherries. The winery offers upscale tours where visitors can witness the aging process of their wines, including fino that is aged for at least eight years before release.
We had a wonderful visit followed by an even more wonderful Jerez tasting. Alejandro was our guide and took care of answering all of our many questions. It’s located in the heart of the city, which also makes it easy to go by foot (approximately 15minutes from the main plaza) which is very important if you are tasting alcohol. The place itself is amazing! Would recommend it 100%.

We took a wonderful two-hour excursion through the bodega, including a sherry tasting accompanied by a visit of the private painting collection, which dates back to the 15th century. Alex (Alejandro) did a fantastic job explaining the various steps of sherry production. They also produce a wonderful brandy.

I really recommend the private tour suited to your needs. Not only did we learn about the fascinating history of the bodega and how sherries are made but we had the opportunity to have beyond an amazing tasting within the bodegas art gallery. I am sorry that i dont remember the name of our guide that was originally from Germany but she made the experience what it was and we are very grateful.

We had an outstanding tour and tasting, here, and got to see the private art collection (the El Greco was our favorite). Alejandro was super informative, answering all our questions, and explaining the process the various sherries go through. They only sell VOS and VORS (20 and 30 year old) sherry, and are family run, so it has a unique and personal feel.

Amazing tour of a smaller quality sherry production. I would recommend coming in with a little knowledge on sherry production or starting with a different tour if you're taking multiple, but would highly recommend this tour. The tapas plate and the small art gallery were also lovely touches. Save a little extra time for getting there. The path is a bit confusing and they keep the main gate locked, but it was not hard to get in and they were very helpful - just might be stressful if you're running behind!

The Palace of the Dukes of Medina Sidonia is a charming 16th-century palace converted into traditionally styled rooms, featuring a cafeteria and romantic gardens. Located in the city center with narrow streets dating back to Muslim times, it offers mild climate and access to beautiful beaches. The palace has an intriguing history, once home to the 7th Duke of Medina Sidonia and later the 21st Duchess who organized its vast archive.
A very charming hotel. Very little but with a lot of history. You'll feel that you're in a historic place where you can even visit their Historic Archive, which is the most important private archive in Europe

Beautiful palace with fantastic art. The guide only spoke really speedy spanish so we couldn't follow much which was a shame as it is such a fascinating place. The hotel looks great for a future stay!

(Translated by Google) Nice experience carried out at the beginning of May. First we took a barge from Sanlúcar de Barrameda to Doñana. On the coast a 4x4 truck was waiting for us, whose driver took us to see the four great ecosystems of Doñana, commenting on their main characteristics. I was very disappointed with the marshes: totally dry and without birds. Finally, prior to a didactic talk about ancient ways of life in Doñana, we took a boat that took us on a ride along the river for approximately half an hour. It is an excursion that does not delve too deeply into the ecosystems, but is interesting for a general overview of the National Park.

(Translated by Google) They lack professionalism in the slightest. First of all, they don't keep to the schedule posted on the door, and they don't keep to it even though they're inside confirming the IMSERSO travel letters that their friends and favorite clients had left them days before. The rest of us who have been there since 7 a.m., in the cold, are left high and dry. Of course, I'll report this to the IMSERSO management. (Original) No tienen la más mínima profesionalidad. (Translated by Google) Staying in Jerez de la Frontera, I go to Sanlúcar de Barrameda (approx. 20 km), to the Viajes Doñana agency on Calle SAN Juan 20 after making a phone call to visit such a park. Once I have clarified what type of trip it was, cost, day, etc. I prepare to pay and they tell me that they can no longer make the trip. A timely call at that time from a group larger than mine seems to motivate the denial of my ticket. It is the first time this has happened to me and I am dedicated to the Service. Not only THAT but also apparently the manager of the agency on Calle SAN Juan tells me that they have many clients and that they do not need my presence, that they have to close and that I should leave the premises. Stunned and without saying a word I leave. It is the first time in Jerez that an establishment treats me this way. As he says, they have plenty of work... hope things go well in life, but I can collaborate with companies with this attitude. Very unprofessional and they practically threw me out on the street. I just wanted to buy a ticket and enjoy a nice day. I am about to look for another agency to be able to make this trip and it turns out that I find it more economical. 10 eu cheaper. That is to say, AGÈNCIA VIAJES DOÑANA costs 10 eu more than any other. Take note...No more trips to Doñana...

Chipiona's Lighthouse, completed in 1867, stands as the oldest and most prominent monument in the charming coastal town of Chipiona on the Costa de la Luz in Andalusia, Spain. The lighthouse is perched at Punta del Perro at the mouth of the river Gadalquivir and was constructed to caution ships away from a large rock known as Piedra de Salmedina.
Very fine edifice and easy to find. Climbing to the top needs prebooking so we didn't do it much to my relief as there must be eight or nine floors.

I love just hanging out near this lighthouse. The area is gorgeous and lively. You can get amazing photos of this lighthouse pretty much anytime of the day. There are certain hours the lighthouse is open to the public and you can climb to the top. Nothing special but a beautiful view.

A great landmark when visiting Chipiona. There are tours where you can climb the internal stairs to the light at the top. The tours have to be reserved well in advance to secure a place as it's a working lighthouse that provides an important service to the ships and boats that operate in the area. So it's not focused on tourism. It was also the perfect vantage to see the Lunar eclipse.

We had a tour for 4 in a Land Rover. Sonia was our guide and she was excellent, really knowledgeable and friendly. We saw so many birds which I would have missed without her pointing them out. I would recommend a private tour.

We booked our Doñana jeep tour with them after reading the reviews and they didn't disappoint. Fran, our guide, was highly knowledgeable and made it very entertaining and enjoyable. We were super lucky and spotted a lynx! Also several deer, endangered birds and bunnies. They gave us increible insights about the Spanish Serengeti and one could feel the passion to share and protect Doñana. The 4 hours went by super quick and we were back at El Rocío, that beautiful village, unique and where everything revolves around horses. Thanks Fran and the whole staff!

Knowledgeable, funny, accommodating guide makes the cost worth it Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🧭 only Spanish trips were left, but our guide was so sweet with us even though we could not understand one another (always handing us his multilingual illustrated guide so we could see the animals he was talking about) 🧭 our guide was clearly very knowledgeable and had an incredible ability to spot birds from so far away and show us where to look 🧭 the park is mostly birds and the landscape (no bigger animals, really) 🧭 we had the incredible luck of getting to see a lynx mid-hunt - wow 🧭 seat choices are given out in order of ticket purchasing times (we purchased ours the day before and were able to choose our seats 12th out of 20)

Excellent tour with Nacho, who gave the tour both in English and Spanish. He was extremely knowledgeable and kept us fully informed for the 3.5 hour duration. Although we didn't see any iberian lynx, there were plenty of deer, birds and other animals and insects that we saw and learnt about in the park.

One of the highlights of my trip as it's a unique experience not available in my country. camels looks like they are cared for well. the basic tour is enough if you want the ride, but if you want to learn a lot more then spring for the detailed package I would recommend the owner put up more signs on where to go exactly. I had a hard time finding it as the Google maps location just takes you to the entrance and not the actual your start point. or update your Google maps location
Jensen L — Google review
It was truly magical. The landscape is so pretty! The camels are very friendly and the staff is really kind. You get an optional walk on the camel, then you get tea and dates while they explain things about the camels, a tour of the farm and wash your hands with natural, organic, eco-friendky soap made from camel milk. Amazing! Super fun experience, unmissable.

What an amazing experience. The camel ride through the dunes was just wonderful. Then afterwards a talk about camels filled with very interesting information - we had no idea just what unique and amazing animals they are… they’ve got a lot more going on than long eye lashes and water storage!! The love of camels by the owner was really special and we adored the whole experience. A total bargain and not to be missed.

The unexpected highlight of our holiday. My teenage son and I thoroughly enjoyed the camel ride through the dunes, followed by tea and dates and a really interesting talk about Camels . A charming Gerardo shows you around the museum, gives you a tasting and tells you everything that happened there. You can tell he loves his job!! (Translated by Google) I went to fieldworkriotinto with the intention of taking a guided tour of Minas de Riotinto in private and with a series of peculiarities that needed someone with a deep knowledge of the place and a good predisposition. It was Juanma, manager, who took care of my request, and I can affirm that it was not only requested but that it fulfilled and exceeded, in an extraordinary way, all my expectations. He had a lot of patience, considering the numerous previous virtual correspondence that I exchanged with him. I will be clear: I belong to the sector, and I know how insistent we can be as clients, as if we were the only request that a company has to attend to. Juanma was not only patient with me, but insisted that I not worry about all my doubts, since his maxim was that the visit was to our total satisfaction. To make matters worse, he advised me on issues such as accommodation, restaurants or transfers when, let's be clear, I did not have to do it and also did not earn anything from it. As it was in private, he picked us up in his car and provided us with a visit to Minas de Riotinto as complete as possible: the source of the river, a visit to mines and mining operations, the mining town, the British legacy, he accompanied us to the train. , to the restaurant, ... we were always accompanied by an expert who controlled the time perfectly and gave us a vision with which he provided not only scientific and historical value, but also the entire socio-cultural context: he explained to us how the town transformed mining exploitation, the relationships that were established between British society and the original inhabitants, how that time is remembered today ... in short, he was able to give us a rigorous, multi-colored vision of Minas de Riotinto, full of details and, even so, extremely enjoyable. I have the habit of taking guided tours when I travel; I think it is necessary that, even after you explore the place on your own, you have a first contact led by an expert. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was the best visit I have enjoyed so far: we had a great experience at the hands of a person who continually transmitted love for his town and his work. Thank you very much for everything.

Dolmen de Soto, located in the municipality of Trigueros, Huelva, is a significant and well-preserved megalithic monument dating back to the Neolithic and Bronze Age. Discovered in 1922, it is covered by a large earthen hill and surrounded by a stone circle. Efforts have been made to restore and maintain this historic site, with an interpretive center providing valuable insights.
It's a very interesting place situated at the location, where you do not expect to find something like this. It is well organized and the reconstruction was performed quite nice. It is really important to take the way passing Trigueros and not the another one because of the condition of the road.

Dolmen de Soto (Andalusia, Spain) was rediscovered in 1922, located in the municipality of Trigueros (Huelva) is one of the most important and best preserved megalithic sites of the peninsula. Construction may have taken place between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age 3000-2500 BC. This complex is covered by a large earthen hill with a diameter of 60 meters and surrounded by a 65m stone circle. Inside Soto Dolmen there is a chamber and a 21m corridor of large slabs of various stones.

As a historic site I would rate it five stars. As a visitor experience it is one star because despite signs on the gate giving opening hours, it is definitively CLOSED for conservation. Don’t be fooled by the write-ups which say it re-opened in December. Maybe it did, but it is closed now.

FlechaMar is a popular ferry service that operates two ferries from the marina daily between April and October. The staff is known for being friendly, and the service is efficient with departures every hour or half an hour. The island it serves is described as tranquil and beautiful, offering a golden beach with views of the Atlantic. In addition to ferry services, FlechaMar also offers self-drive boat rentals, which have been praised for their excellent service.
The staff is very friendly and the service is very fast. You can take a boat every hour or half an hour. The island is really nice and quiet.

Zoo
Parque Municipal Prudencio Navarro is a city park located in Ayamonte, Andalusia. Currently undergoing remodeling, the park offers a pleasant outdoor experience with a gazebo and café open beside the river. It features various plant species and provides a clean and well-located green space for relaxation. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely nap or snack in this free park while observing rescued animals from the zoo.
Great free park and has animals that were savd fro the zoo
David L — Google review
No animals in cages, renovated time or just dead park , very sadly
S.G N — Google review
There are abandoned dogs inside the "zoo". We asked in the office and there were just excuses, the park is not maintained at all. A pity, the location and design is quite good. Also all the doors but one were closed.
Capitanscott — Google review
DON’T GO! THE PARK IS ABANDONED. THERE IS NO ANIMALS. ❗️
Luana S — Google review
To go from feeling wonderfully content and happy to be in such a beautiful town, to moments later being truly disturbed by the lifeless animals pacing up and down with glazed looks in their eyes due to sheer boredom. I 100% agree with rescuing endangered species but too keep a tiger on its own in a tiny, grassless and baron enclosure seems to be the opposite of letting the animal live on in a protected environment. How for a moment this is happening is beyond me, when across the world there are so many wonderful places where the animals have a great deal of enjoyment and stimulation.
Kate W — Google review
Great little place considering it is free but some parts were being reconstructed so no lions this time. I would agree that the animals do look a bit cramped and a bit sad. I think it would be better to have less animals and more space for them.
Eleanor P — Google review
A bit run down but you see some great animals for free
MrCrazedjay — Google review
If you want to show your kids how animals die, this is the place to go! It's deplorable. Bored animals locked up in too small cages. The infrastructure is completely run down and the guard totally unfriendly. The city of Ayamonte should stop this immediately!

Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
Limitezero offers an exhilarating zipline adventure that begins in the quaint village of Sanlucar, Spain, and whisks you 720 meters across the Guadiana River into Portugal. As you soar at speeds reaching 80 km/h, you'll find yourself in a new time zone—an hour earlier by the time you land in Alcoutim. This thrilling experience is not just about speed; it's also about enjoying breathtaking views as you glide through the air.
Amazing experience, thanks guys! The team kept it safe and fun. We highly recommend it! Make sure to book in advance as they had a lot of customers during last weekend

An unforgettable experience. I recommend. Note that the site is next to a café by the river and only opens at 4.30 pm. The phone is a simple answering machine. Pay only at the moment. You can book online without paying.

Great experience! Zero stress and all staff was pleasant, humorous and accommodating. The actual line not too fast and the impact at the end was minimal. Xavier in particular was very helpful, kind and fun! Thank you from Cyprus 😊
Zena S — Google review
So easy to get set up on arrival. Loved the photos taken by the photographer as well. Highly recommend to people visiting the area.
Darren W — Google review
I am extremely dissatisfied. I had called before to clarify whether my 15-year-old son could do this alone. This was confirmed! Then I told them that I have about two hours to travel and would be leaving now. When we arrived, they said he couldn't travel alone as he wasn't 18y. old and wouldn't be able to get back across the river on his own. So the journey was for nothing. The treatment was also disappointing: while the men were friendly but reserved, the woman at the counter was dismissive. This was not the service I had expected.
Maja M — Google review
Great way to spend a few hours.... obviously the zip line itself takes a minute, but both villages either side of thr river are well worth a look.
Chris G — Google review
This was my third jump with LimiteZero, with previous jumps in 2015 and 2019 with different groups of friends, and the first two were excellent with everything easy and well laid-out. On this occasion, the website would not permit us to book or pay - there was an error on both occasions that we tried. I followed up by email, and they accepted our booking and said we could pay on arrival. When we arrived, there was some confusion, but we were able to pay and jump. On previous occasions, we have been given information on how to purchase photos of our jump when we landed, but that didn't happen on this occasion; the photographer was busy taking photos of other jumpers and in a roped off area, so we assumed the process had changed since the pandemic and contacted LimiteZero about the photos the following day. Unfortunately, if you don't speak with the photographer immediately on landing, the photos are deleted. The photographer was dismissive and unpleasant when I contacted him, directly blaming me for not knowing how the process worked, which was a sad ending to the experience. I'd recommend that LimiteZero return to providing information on landing. The jump itself still feels safe and well-prepared, but the admin surrounding it could be improved. Note that the ferry from Alcoutim runs half-hourly; if you're coming from Portugal, allow time to get across the river, and remember that Spain is one hour ahead.

Great experience!!! The staff is friendly and the ride to Portugal is smooth and fun Update August 2019 We came back to zipline again with more people. And once again it was a great experience. I highly recommend doing the zipline for the experience, the fun and the ride.

The Castle of Mértola is a medieval fortress that stands proudly atop a hill, offering commanding views of the surrounding landscape. While not the most aesthetically pleasing castle, it is the focal point of Mértola and well worth the trek to reach it. From the river, the town presents a picturesque scene with its stone walls and whitewashed houses culminating in this sturdy stone castle. Visitors can explore this historic site free of charge and soak in its ancient ambiance.
Great to walk about, we got in free, not sure if there is a ticket price A walk up the tower is a must, great view of the city Free public toilets outside and remains of a roman house

Absolutely stunning!!! From a distance we sit and stare at the castle, but to walk up and around inside gives you a whole other perspective. Stunning scenic outlook being so up high, from all angles and so much history to absorb. Highly recommend! We loved it and are so glad we came to stay and experience the beautiful hillside town of Mertola in South Portugal.

Beautiful castle with a museum. Friendly staff. Beautiful view. Free enterence. Parking is difficult. Better let stay the car in the town and have a walk to the castle.

Castle of Mértola Type: castle Current price: free WC: located outside of the castle Path for disabled: not available Parking: available, small Bike parking: not available Public transport: Redexpressos bus, Rodoviária do Alentejo bus + 15 min walk Medieval castle built during the Islamic period. It was particularly rebuilt after the Reconquista, so the architecture is a combination of different styles. Next to it are more ancient ruins. Also, within the tower is a small museum with medieval items.

If you happen to be passing through then it is a worth a wander round the castle. As the views are good, looking in both directions along the Guadiana river and the town. Although it's not as spectacular as the castle at Beja.
Nuni R — Google review
Really enjoyed our visit. The town is fabulous around the castle with cobbled streets and picturesque buildings. It is a bit of a climb to the castle but not too bad. Once there, there is an excavation underway of roman ruins around the castle which is very interesting with plenty of view points. The castle offers fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. We visited in November and it was free.

We stumped up on this little beautiful peaceful well maintained town on the way from Spain to Lisbon. The castle is so well maintained with all renovated levels that have wooden and marble stairs and museum floors with a local staff who was extremely nice and knowledgeable to tell us about the town. Everyone who worked here was so nice, proud and educated of their own town. The entry fee is FREE. I'm super impressed with how they very well managed to maintain their history, the whole neighborhood and castle. So much respect for these people and this town. The whole atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxing. We also stopped by a restaurant down the tiny street and the food was so delicious and healthy. Highly recommended!

Bodies of Water
Pulo do Lobo, also known as Jump of the Wolf, is a popular tourist spot located approximately 11 miles (18 kilometers) from Mertola. It is renowned for being one of the most striking sections along the Guadiana River. Legend has it that the narrow stretch got its name because a wolf could leap across it in a single bound. The waterfall itself is quite dramatic, with the waters of the river cascading through a rocky gorge.
We took the east side trail. Coming from the town of Serpa going south on route N265. At Vale the Poco where Agostinho restaurant is located we turned right (west) following the Pulo the Lobo signs that lead you to a parking lot overlooking the Guadiana river. There is a nice wooden terrace there with picnic tables From there there is a nice wooden built trail that takes you down and south and north few hundred meters in each direction. There is a views are amazing. You can get off the wooden built trail and go down all the way to the river bank and the actual Pulo the Lobo Highly Recommended

Pulo do Lobo (wolf’s Leap) is a beautiful water fall, surrounded by rocks. It is the highest waterfall in southern Portugal. Accessible by car to view a one of the point of waterfall.
S G — Google review
Wild extremely special waterfall. The huge river flowing threw narrow rocks, the sound of water is deafening and it looks like a moon landscape. You can find beautiful stones here. Not for the fainthearted.
Monica C — Google review
Nestled in the heart of the Guadiana Valley Natural Park, Pulo do Lobo (literally “Wolf’s Leap”) is one of Portugal’s most dramatic and captivating natural landmarks. Located in the Alentejo region near Mértola, this narrow gorge of the Guadiana River offers a breathtaking display of raw, untamed beauty. Nature at Its Wildest Pulo do Lobo gets its name from a local legend — it was said that only a wolf could leap across the sheer, rocky chasm. When you stand at the edge of the viewpoint, it's easy to see why. The river rushes through a narrow gorge carved into ancient schist rock, creating thunderous rapids and swirling currents. During the rainy season, the spectacle is especially powerful, as the water surges with dramatic force. Scenic Views & Hiking While the waterfall itself is the main attraction, the surrounding area offers scenic hiking trails through cork oak forests and Mediterranean scrubland. Birdwatchers and nature lovers will appreciate the rich biodiversity, including rare birds of prey and wildflowers. The trails are not too demanding, but proper footwear is advisable due to rocky paths and occasional steep sections. Remote and Peaceful Part of what makes Pulo do Lobo special is its relative remoteness. Don’t expect large crowds, souvenir stands, or commercial facilities. This is a place for quiet reflection and awe. There are a few viewpoints, some with wooden railings and signs in Portuguese and English, but overall, it’s wonderfully unspoiled. Tips for Visitors Access: Best reached by car; the final stretch is on a dirt road. Time of Year: Visit in spring or after rains for the most impressive water flow. What to Bring: Water, snacks, sturdy shoes, and a camera — the light around sunset is magical. Final Verdict Pulo do Lobo is not just a stop on a tourist map — it’s a raw encounter with nature's force and beauty. It’s ideal for travelers who appreciate rugged landscapes, tranquility, and a touch of legend. Whether you’re a photographer, hiker, or just someone seeking a moment of awe, this hidden gem of Alentejo will leave a lasting impression.

All rounded trail is around 6 km. by rocks, by gravel road and small path. If you like nature and silent places, nice to visit

Well worth the drive. Start early, it gets hot quickly & wear good footgear. We took a picnic to enjoy there. Please please take your rubbish back with you. We were so disappointed to see the carelessness of visitors before us.
Laura — Google review
We drove from the West. Quite a long drive along bumpy narrow roads eventually leading to a dirt track for the last 1.5km. Google tries to take you off road but follow the signposts through the village instead. The rock formations are interesting but quite honestly not worth the trip. There is a footpath along the west but on the east side there are boardwalks. No toilet facilities. The water looked polluted with scum and foam. So many nicer places to go to so I don't recommend this one unless you happen to be nearby.
Londoncoffeeaddict — Google review
This is far better in person than it is in pics. The gorge is other-worldly and I have seen no other place like it. However, other than a few tiny spots, there are no beach or swim areas here and accessing the river is somewhat difficult, except for a tiny unmarked path past the 'merendas' area. Even this is difficult. NOT for children to play or bath in. To reach the access, do not follow trail markings once you pass the gate. I did and it just took me in circles once I passed the dry brook. Better to drive past the gate (close behind you) and just drive down the well kept gravel road till the end. The other side you see marked on Google maps is a "Pesadiços" boardwalk that is quite extensive, but has no access to the river edge.

Novacortiça - Indústria Corticeira, S.A. | Cork Factory Tour - Very interesting, informative tour. Our tour guide is very knowledge on the cork industry as well as the production processes. Job well done. We really enjoy the classroom presentation; we also had the chance to touch and look some sample of the raw cork bark/skin. Very good experience and as our guide said we now more appreciate how the cork is made when we open an expensive wine. Highly recommend to people to join the cork farm tour as well. Thanks.

Very informative tour by an excellent guide in fluent English. Highly recommendable.

The presentation was most informative and interesting, answering all the questions the audience had. The tour itself was a little short as it didn't show some of the steps that would be interesting such as the pressing and the pressure of the press. If this is not feasible then picture brochures would be informative. Also disappointed in not receiving at least a disc with the company logo as a souvenir or even the good, bad, and ugly discs. For promo material, the excellent guide should push to view the souvenir shop. I can imagine not all visitors are aware of the items for sale.
