Tamina Therme

Spas & Wellness
The Tamina Therme is a beautiful wellness facility nestled in the picturesque mountains of Switzerland. It boasts a unique attraction, the Tamina source, which is a museum showcasing hot thermal water. The spa exudes elegance with its sophisticated decor and attentive staff, although slightly pricier than average. The pools are strategically positioned throughout the premises, providing ample space for relaxation and enjoyment of the invigorating massage jets.
The wellness experience here was incredible! After a peaceful walk through the Tamina Gorge surrounded by stunning nature, I spent the afternoon at the thermal spa. The warm mineral waters were so soothing—it felt like a complete reset for my mind and body
Bintang A — Google review
What a wonderful and dreamy space this is. The Tamina Therme is a 200 year old spa where the waters are heated by the magma hotspots beneath the earths surface. This epic place is designed as a spectacular white cathedral to wellness. Each oval window frames the mountains, trees and even hilltop ruins in the distance. There are many special pools with different temperatures and even pools to be done in rotation based on the warm jets and their different levels of heating. There is an outside pool area and a special space to enjoy and relax with others. They have an opportunity to get a robe for 10 Franc and I say this is the way to do it because the robe can also be used as a towel and perfect to lounge around it with champagne or a spritz in hand. The lockers needed clearer instructions so here they are 1. Get wrist band from front desk upon check in. 2. Choose locker 3. Press with your finger the circle 4. Its lights up 5. Press your wrist band against it 6. a knob extends and locker is now open. 7.put all things in locker 8. Press extended knob with wristband until it stays in. 9. Your items are safe and only you can get them out with your wristband. 10. Have the best time with all the pools and saunas to rest, zen-out and enjoy!
Beau H — Google review
Lovely spa with natural mineral waters in different temperatures. It wasn’t overly crowded because we came on Monday morning. Only one small incident clouded our experience. While we were in the large pool with different jets one Swiss woman told us off and asked to vacate our jets because she wanted to use them. We thought it’s incredibly rude while we are literally in our swimming suits and defenseless. We can’t understand why some people can be this incredibly arrogant. But this is nothing to do with Tamina Therme staff who were super friendly. We definitely recommend to visit!
Natasha K — Google review
My boyfriend and I were expecting something a bit better from wellness. The facilities are okay, but it’s a pity that the outdoor sauna area doesn’t have a pool. I don’t mean a cold plunge pool, but rather a small swimming pool or a hot tub – something like that would definitely fit in well and make the experience more enjoyable.
Vanda D — Google review
I read the previous reviews before coming, so I kind of knew what to expect. My wife and I came on my birthday and so I received free entry to the pool area, but still had to pay 18 Francs to enter the sauna world. My wife had to pay the full 37 for the pool area (2 hours) and the additional 18 for the sauna world. We thought this was a rather steep cost, given that the pool area does not have that much to offer - no slides or activities, just a few different pools to sit in bubbles. It's nice and relaxing, but it doesn't hold your attention for a longer stay. Once in the sauna area, there is no pool on that side (which has been mentioned previously). This is a huge detriment, to which they respond, "there are pools just a short distance away from the sauna area". Yes, but then there is the hassle of putting your swimming costume back on, going through the turnstyle gate and then being able to get in a pool. It is also nice to swim textile free in sauna areas, which here is not possible. Overall, a lovely place, but lacking in several areas and a little overpriced due to that. Totally worth it if you are just looking for what they offer, but many other such places offer a bit more for similar or less cost.

The Most Amazing Experience in my Life... When you enter there, you feel Home. Such a beautiful and relaxing safe space. In the outside pool at 36.5 you can see the view of mountains and the automne me trees . A MUST DO. If you are in the area ... Shout out: To Julia at réception that is very kind... 5 stars Julia , 😍😇🤗
ZOVNIA O — Google review
Fantastic overpriced thermals. Extra 18 francs to use the saunas, but they are very well done. A great place for a swim and some pleasant tickling bubbles.
Tom T — Google review
Spacious, clean, wonderful et cetera! Tamina Therme was a great experience, while staying at the Grand Resort. Multiple pools of varying temperatures, beautiful outdoor pool and ample locker/changing spaces. Must visit if you are in the area.

Alpine Coaster Golm

Summer toboggan run

Absolutely amazing, all loved it! We went on a Saturday morning in June and had no queue, although it was a rainy day. Felt very safe - you're strapped in but the way the cart is designed even as you're thrown to the side around bends it keeps you in. It also brakes for you if you go too fast. My advice to go as fast as possible is do some slight braking before any bend that looks quite sharp. Keeping the brakes off means that you get slowed down more by the automatic braking system than you otherwise would.
Vicky J — Google review
Alpine Coaster Golm was amazing! Beautiful views of mountains and lake, smooth ride, and just the right mix of fun, speed and beautiful nature. You control the brakes, so it's great for both thrill seekers and families. Staff was helpful and everything felt safe and well-maintained. The ride is worth doing more than once. Definitely a must-try if you're in the area!
Abdul K — Google review
What a great place! The Coaster downhill was hilarious and so much fun. Took it twice, one with each kid 😉 what a rush. You decide yourself how fast you want to go, but the cart can go no more than 40 km/h. Down the hill there are signs where to hold on the speed and brake a little for the sharp turns. We also took the lift to the middle station and walked down the mountain and tried the 6 slides that's about 50-60m in length each. Perfect way to get down a mountain 😂 There is still a bit of walking to get down. There are tons of hiking trails that we didn't try, but it covers a huge area, so there is something for everyone.
Michael B — Google review
A great 2.6 km ride down (a gondola ride up in luded in the cost)! But, I a very long wait, 1 hour or so.
Oksana R — Google review
Really fun and felt really safe! You can sit on one coaster alone or together with one small child. It has seat belts for (both) passengers. It can go really fast but you van can also slow it down by using the hand brakes. In August 2022, the price was 13 euros per person per ride which was definitely a good deal for the experience!
Nima S — Google review
Honestly really nice chill for all ages

Buy ticket from automatic machine and go to the right, behind the building:) You will go down the hill with coasters from there and will take gondola to come back up:) it was very fun ride, would go again 😀👍

To pay for a childern 3.5 years old a ticket like adult is shameful
Ace B — Google review
I liked this place. It is aimed more towards an older crowd (no slides for kids and the like). Food and drink are not available on the Therme side of things, but there is a restaurant there before you go in. I got the feeling this place was more geared towards the therapeutic crowd, but it was quite nice.

Paid for three hours, which is a little long - there's a limit to my relaxation! Not really suited to families, more for the patients of the local rehabilitation clinics, but that being said we enjoyed ourselves.

Erwin Hymer Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
Vintage caravans, motorhomes & cars line this contemporary mobile home museum, plus a restaurant.
What a fantastic place. First as we are in a Mobile Home we could stay on site overnight. We went into the museum when it opened at 10am, the gentleman on the counter spoke english and showed us how to download the app so we could check out all the displays in English. Once inside ‘wow’ amazing displays and set ups, showing the history of caravanning and motorhoming. So glad we made the effort to see this museum. For those with children there are also areas to keep children occupied and I can imagine for hours.
Kiwisflythecoop N — Google review
Absolutely satisfied! Friendly staff, kid- friendly museum, just more entertainment focused on traveling camping etc needed(kids related)
Igor G — Google review
It's a nice place to visit, especially for those who love motorhomes. Unfortunately, the museum was very hot with a lack of ventilation, so we left earlier than we wanted. The restaurant was even warmer, so we didn't stay in. Also, there is no translation, so all the descriptions and information are for German speakers only. Shortly speaking, not international.
ARR — Google review
It is an amazing experience in a place where one can find a lot of information about the history of caravans and campers in Germany and even more. There you can see the newest Hymer camper that is very impressive. The exhibits are interesting and enchanting. You can get an iPod with explanations in English. I enjoyed every minute and we spent there more than two hours. Price is 11 euros per person but there are discounts and for journalists is free of charge. There are also very nice souvenirs at shop.
Nicoleta C — Google review
Nice place to visit for kids and adults too.

Very interesting place to visit if you are near Munich and are into leisure vehicles and their evolution. You cannot bring dogs inside but they would mind them for you at the reception if well behaved. The food was also very nice (try the lemonade)

Alpsee Bergwelt

Mentioned on

Summer toboggan run
Water & Amusement Parks
Alpsee Bergwelt in Immenstadt offers an exhilarating Alpine roller coaster that winds through a forested mountainside, providing thrills for visitors of all ages. The attraction also features Germany's longest year-round toboggan run, the Alpsee coaster, as well as the Barenfalle high ropes course and the 'Abenteuer Alpe' mountain-playing adventure. Families can enjoy a large playground for little ones and zip lines for older kids and parents.
Plenty of parking, at least for this time of year, with only a €3 charge. Need to put in the cart number plate and pay the fixed fee for the whole day. Process to go on the cable car are €15,50 for adults for a rework trip which you can choose to come down with the coaster. Decided to go for a walk up with the kids (4 and 6) which we managed 1/4th of the way as it gets really steep. Can spend a few hours here
Mark P — Google review
What an awesome place to spend time with your family. They make it easy to get up the mountain using the ski lift. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or online all at the same price. Family discounts are offered and you can purchase packages for all the attractions. The Llama park was a treat and they even have three different places to eat once you summit. The toboggan karts are clean and very safe going down for like what it seemed as an eternity. I would highly recommend it as a must visit if you're in this area.
Anibal P — Google review
It's a great place for nature lovers. You can try a combination ticket for ascending and descending by cable car, or ascending and descending by coaster. Alternatively, you can walk up and down. The upper section consists of three sections: a children's park with an entrance fee, a climbing experience trail, and a free common area open to everyone. Spending time at an altitude of 1100 metres is enjoyable. I recommend bringing tick and insect repellent. Restaurant prices are reasonable and not touristy.
Ufuk D — Google review
We reached the place at 9.40 am on a sunday, took the chairlift and reached the coaster right at the opening time. So we did not have to wait at all ! We had the best time with the coaster ride.

(Translated by Google) Thank you so much for slowing down the cable car especially for me to get on and off!!! I have serious back problems, and a little reminder was enough for the friendly employee at the valley station to give me a smooth ride on the chairlift. At the top station, the employee also knew about it and slowed down the cable car again especially for me... I've rarely experienced anything like this and would like to take this opportunity to thank you again. You helped fill me with gratitude and make me feel welcome in the Allgäu 🙏🙏🙏 THANK YOU (Original) Vielen lieben Dank für das ganz langsam fahren der Bahn extra für mich zum Ein und Aussteigen!!!

(Translated by Google) Very friendly and helpful staff at the ticket office and chairlift. A great opportunity to see Oberjoch from above. During the first week of November, it wasn't very busy early in the morning. Therefore, only the Wiedhagbahn cable car was open. As non-hiking enthusiasts, we really wanted to enjoy the view from above. The easiest way to do this was by cable car. It wasn't until around 11:00 that other, larger groups arrived, who also headed up the "Smuggler's Trail." However, you won't get far there in sneakers. It's also not advisable to take the risk with small children. Therefore, we turned back and glided down on the same cable car. Beautiful views up there. Take panoramic photos right at the cable car station or a little further on at the reservoir. Remember not to leave any trash behind. Such beautiful places only remain beautiful if we care for and protect them.

(Translated by Google) The cable car is okay. However, I found the ceremony the staff perform both downstairs and upstairs when boarding to be completely excessive. I can understand that frail guests or small children need attention when boarding. However, the chairlift moves so slowly in the boarding and disembarking areas that normally fit hikers shouldn't be treated like toddlers or grazing cattle.
Niklas E — Google review
(Translated by Google) The chairlift takes you up to 1,440 meters. A protective shield can be lowered to protect against strong winds, rain, or snow. While ascending or descending, you'll enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Ostrach Valley and a sweeping glimpse of the Allgäu Alps. The almost silent ascent or descent creates a wonderful feeling, almost floating in the safety of the row of chairs.

Bozhidar D — Google review
Nice place to go shopping for different store with clothes, groceries, etc. In-between you find some food courts to eat or get a snack. A lot of people are sometimes there so of course the floor is then dirty. The prices for the parking is high in my opinion.
M. K — Google review
It's a big shopping center, with many great shops and fast food restaurants.

It's a good place where to go for shopping or just spend some time. Lot of shops and coffee places.

Perfect place, worth a visit
Ridvan I — Google review
It is a good shopping center, not very big but you can take a short walk, it has specific stores where you can get certain things, you can also choose between some food places if you are in a hurry or you can also eat there, there are many people usually so That gives the impression of always being full. It can be easily accessed by vehicles and walking.

Very organized concert venue. The queue to enter the place was very fast and the toilets were very well kept. Staff was very friendly as well. It is conveniently located on the opposite side of the street of the Allgäu Forum, a shopping mall with a good parking lot that remains open until one hour and half after the concerts end.

Ottobeuren Abbey

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
1 of 40 or so former self-ruling Imperial abbeys that used to make up the Holy Roman Empire.
What a gem! Both architectural and spiritual. Set in a peaceful town, you can explore freely and at your own pace everything this place has to offer. It’s overwhelming so get ready to take it all very slowly. Our only regret was not being able to hear the organ when we were there.
Michał N — Google review
By far one of the most stunning looking churches i ever visited. The sheer scale of the inside is breathtaking. A lot of the inside is gilded and catches your eyes. Would totally recommend a visit when youre in the area 👌🏻
UnknownTim — Google review
A trip to Ottobeuren Abbey isn't just a visit to a church—it's an experience. This insane beautiful church is a full-on masterpiece. The moment you step inside, you’re hit with a wave of awe that's hard to describe. The entire interior is a sensory feast. The paintings on the ceiling and walls are so vibrant, and the stories they tell through color and intricate detail are absolutely mesmerizing. Then there are the sculptures—each one feels alive, a testament to the incredible skill of the artists who created them. It’s like every surface, every corner, has a story to tell. This isn't just a place of worship; it's a "Gesamtkunstwerk," a total work of art, where painting, sculpture, and architecture merge into one breathtaking vision. If you're ever in the area, you have to see it for yourself. Pictures don’t do it justice.

Free entry and definitely a detour worthy if you are in the area! Lots of kitsch/rococo and off course holy relics/people to admire there. The most cherubs👼 per square meter ever!
Klaas Z — Google review
Stunning church and monastery, unfortunately there is a lot of construction going on around it at the moment so it doesn't shine in all its glory. But I definitely recommend a visit, whether you're a religious person or architecture afficionado.

Hotel Füssen

Hotel Füssen is a cozy property located on a charming street in the old town. The rooms, although small, are clean and well-equipped for a comfortable stay. While there's no air conditioning, the central location allows for easy exploration of the area's colorful houses and proximity to attractions like the High Castle of Füssen. The friendly staff and convenient parking add to the overall positive experience.
Perfect stay! Starting with the room, which was brand new in the new wing of the hotel, very spacious with 2 queen size beds (this room was for 3 people), under floor heating and a large tv. Even though the hotel is positioned in the center and main pedestrian alley, it is not noisy at all. Very nice staff, good food (breakfast), there were options for everybody. Will definitely be back, totally worth it (the prices are good for what they offer)!

We had a perfect stay at Hotel Fussen. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The included buffet breakfast was very good. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. We really liked the location of the hotel. It's just a few minutes walk from the train and bus stations, where you can take transport to do hikes in the nearby areas and the Neuschewanstein and Hohenschwanghau castles.
Debbie L — Google review
My bottom line on any property is: would I recommend it to family and friends. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Too many negatives. Our room, for instance, was extremely hot with no way to cool it down. At least 80F/27C at night. The bathroom was tiny and the toilet jammed into a corner. You had to sit on it at a 45-degree angle. The shower was like trying to rinse w an eye dropper the water pressure was so bad on the second floor. It had a waterfall faucet in the shower, but the water pressure wasn't strong enough to keep it on. The sheets were like sleeping on burlap. The worst, though, is the confusion they had on my stay. They put me in one room, then claimed I was in that room plus another. They called multiple times and sent 'urgent' emails wanting to know why I was in two rooms and told me I needed to move my belongings ... Only to find out that they had screwed up. I didn't appreciate the implications that I had done something wrong and really didn't appreciate the multiple interruptions while I was trying to vacation. Travelling can be stressful enough ... I didn't need extra when I wasn't at fault. And on the day I was checking out, they sent emails to check in online. What? Why? Location was great. The restaurant is very nice. But there must be better hotels in Fussen that solve their own problems without being so eager to foist them onto a guest.
Fletcher D — Google review
Finding the parking was a little challenging. You have to drive through pedestrian walkways yo the back. But once you know, it's the best place to stay and enjoy the old village. Fabulous all around!

Lindsey H — Google review
Location is great but was expensive for one night stay. Can always look for better cheaper options nearby. Didn’t provide tea/coffee. Provided with hot water kettle only after request. Parking is behind the hotel as the front entrance is pedestrian only street

Right in the heart of Füssen. Great breakfast and spacious rooms. Feels a bit like an Airbnb because of how check-in and check-out works. Reception is not open 24/7 so take that into consideration.

The location in the old town is perfect. The hotel is recently renovated in a modern style. Very clean rooms are big with high ceiling. You will enjoy your stay. Hohenschwangau Castle

Sights & Landmarks
Hohenschwangau Castle, a stunning Gothic-style summer residence of King Ludwig II, is located near the Pollat Gorge. The castle is being rebuilt in the authentic style of old German knights' castles and will feature habitable guest rooms with splendid views of the Sauling and the Tyrolean mountains. Nestled in a breathtaking landscape alongside Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau offers insight into the royal upbringing of King Ludwig II.
The castle is truly beautiful, offering picturesque views from a distance that allow you to capture its full grandeur. I recommend purchasing tickets online to save time. While photography is not permitted inside the castle, I believe the tour could be enhanced with more detailed information and exhibits about its history. In my opinion, the exterior of the castle is even more captivating than the interior tour. Overall, it was a good place to visit.
Hiwi — Google review
Definitely a must see castle. The grounds and the views are amazing. Unfortunately you cannot take photos of the interior. But nonetheless the interior doesn't disappoint either. I recommend that you get your ticket and tour time set up online. It definitely makes things easier. There are a few restaurants around the castle that have great food. Plus souvenir shoppes too.
Timothy T — Google review
Just a short 30-minute walk from the world-famous Neuschwanstein lies Schloss Hohenschwangau, and we can genuinely recommend adding it to your visit. While Neuschwanstein often gets most of the attention, Hohenschwangau has a charm and authenticity all of its own. Set against rolling hills, peaceful forests, and a beautiful lake, the castle feels more intimate and lived-in, offering a fascinating contrast to King Ludwig II’s fairytale creation. Tickets can be bought in advance—something we recommend, especially during busier months—and guided tours are offered in several languages. The tour provides wonderful insight into the history of the Bavarian royal family and the important role this castle played in Ludwig’s childhood. Many rooms remain furnished just as they were, which makes the visit feel historically rich and surprisingly personal. Even if you decide not to join a tour, the area around Schloss Hohenschwangau is perfect for a leisurely stroll. The paths are easy to navigate, and the views of the lake and surrounding mountains are incredibly beautiful. It’s a calm and charming place to unwind, especially after the more intense and crowded experience of Neuschwanstein. Overall, we found Schloss Hohenschwangau to be a beautiful and worthwhile addition to the day—less crowded, full of history, and surrounded by stunning scenery. If you’re already in the area, it’s absolutely worth visiting both castles to get the full experience of this remarkable region.

Nice hike up, but not too difficult. The audio guide was really informative and the castle was beautiful. Such a great place to visit!
Markie K — Google review
I visited a lot of Ludwig’s castles and this one isn’t the most spectacular per se but it is a must see specially if you’re interested in his history. This is where he grew up and where his parents lived. The castle has a lot of history that you can learn during your visit. The visit is made with a guide but you have an audio guide in your own language during the tour. It is activated in each room by the guide and lasts a few minutes. Our tour guide was young lady with dark hair. I don’t remember her name but she was one of the best guides I’ve encountered in a museum. She was lovely, smiling, added additional informations during our visit and was gentle. We had a great time visiting the castle thanks to her. You can also visit the gardens for free if you want but you have to book a ticket to see the inside. Also up here you get a nice view over the Neuschwanstein.

Overall, visiting Hohenschwangau Castle is one of the must do things for any tourist in the area. Personally my visit was both meaningful and enjoyable. The scenery was beautiful, the history fascinating and the atmosphere peaceful. It offered a valuable look into the roots of Ludwig II’s life and imagination, making it a visit worth remembering. On a side note, it’s recommended to book in advance, park your car in parking number 4 and keep in mind that only guided tours are offered inside as well as that picture and videos aren’t allowed.
A. K — Google review
Even tough it's not probably as nice as Neuschwanstein I really enjoyed being inside and especially a look through the window at the end of the tour. Around the castle there are food stands where you can enjoy a hot chilly and some sausage with drinks.

I visited the yellow castle since the smaller white one was sold out. I was blown away by how amazing the artwork is within. It's unfortunate that pictures aren't allowed inside considering how inspiring the story was. I'd suggest that more people book the yellow castle to see and learn about the old rulers.

Wiblingen Abbey is a Baroque Benedictine monastery with a rich history dating back to 1093. It was later repurposed as barracks before being restored to its former glory. The highlight of the abbey is the rococo library, which is described as breathtaking and well-maintained. Visitors are encouraged to explore the convent building and museum, particularly the stunning library with its impressive ceiling paintings.
monastery dated to the medieval ages and received a baroque touch later. The church is under restoration till 2027. you can still visit the museum and the Baroque-Rococo Library which is the masterpiece of Architecture.

The library is stunning and all of the pics online don't do it justice!! I definitely recommend seeing this place in person. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I would LOVE to just open one of these books though!! 'If' we saw the museum portion, it was extremely small, but I seriously don't know if we did or not. Unfortunately the church portion was completely under construction, so very hard to see its glory. Would love to check it out again once completed.

Wiblingen Abbey is a beautiful and peaceful place just outside Ulm. From the outside it looks elegant, but once you step inside, the library takes your breath away, full of soft colors, marble, and detailed paintings on the ceiling. It feels almost unreal, like walking into another time. The whole place has a calm, quiet atmosphere, perfect for wandering around and just taking it all in. It’s one of those spots that don’t look like much at first, but end up being one of the most memorable parts of the trip.

Amazingly beautiful place. Both the temple and the monastery library make an indelible impression. A very beautiful library room. I was there on Sunday morning and was in the library by myself. This is so interesting, you can make a good video.

There were just a few other visitors besides me. The place is nice, however it's just a small museum and only one room which is a library. Might not be worth €6. The texts under exhibits are only in German

This place is wonderful to visit. The church is very unremarkable from the outside but very beautiful inside. The library is breathtaking with all the details to look at. The audioguide that comes with the ticket is very informative. Entry is €5 or €8 if you want to take pictures, which is hard to not want to. Definitely visit if you are in the area.

Wowwww….. I am so impressed about the library. We went to Ulm and thought the Abbey is a good idea for a rainy weather. The abbey is nice but the library is really beautiful. At first we were not sure if it worth the ticket price for 5.50€, but surely it does! The library is not as big as in Melk but still very, very beautiful and worth a visit.

Neuschwanstein Castle, a 19th-century hilltop fortress commissioned by King Ludwig II, is a must-see attraction nestled in the Bavarian Alps near the Austrian border. It's one of Germany's most visited sites and offers tours of its lavishly furnished rooms. While it's a popular tourist spot, some travelers recommend exploring other day trips from Munich for a more rewarding experience.
🇩🇪 A Must-Visit in Germany: Neuschwanstein Castle If you’re planning a trip to Germany, Neuschwanstein Castle is an absolute must-see. Perched on a hill in Bavaria, it looks like something straight out of a fairytale — and it’s no wonder it inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle! There are two main options to reach the castle from the ticket center: 🚌 By shuttle bus 🐎 By horse-drawn carriage For the return journey, you can use the same options or do what we did — walk back down. It’s about a 15–20 minute walk, and totally worth it for the scenic route and peaceful forest atmosphere. One of the highlights of our visit was Marienbrücke (Mary’s Bridge). From here, you get a stunning panoramic view of the entire castle — definitely postcard-perfect! We chose not to go inside the castle and instead spent our time enjoying the breathtaking views and the fairytale ambiance from the outside. It was still a truly magical experience. 🛍️ There’s a souvenir shop on site with some nice mementos. ☕ Unfortunately, the café was closed during our visit. 🚗 Parking is available, though a bit pricey if you’re only staying for a short time. Overall: A memorable and highly recommended experience!
Virgiele C — Google review
The castle location is so beautiful. It is a treat for the sight just to hike towards the castle that is surrounded by bavarian alps. The guided tour, on the other hand is rather short (only 30min). The rooms are accessible only by lots of stairs and no photography is allowed. Only 14 castle rooms were furnished. Furthermore during our visit the cafe was also closed. This was a bummer since the ticket is so expensive for 23euros per person. Furthermore even though young kids are allowed inside the castle for free they need their own ticket and it can't be booked online. The ticket we got got our toddler from the information booth did not have a scan code and my daughter could not get inside so i had to run to fund security to let her inside. The security guide solved the issue quickly though. The point is that the ticket handling system must be more organized and improved upon. On the other hand, the cave room, singers room and the balcony were breath taking so the hassle was kind of worth it. The ticket price should be reduced though. I would say overall it was a very pleasant experience.
Rabia R — Google review
A real-life Disney castle — but truly so much more than that! ✨ I still couldn’t get enough of this place. Every corner feels like stepping into a fairytale. The guided tour is a must — make sure to book it early, as tickets sell out fast. No photos are allowed inside, but it’s absolutely worth it. Each room reflects incredible richness, elegance, and the artistic soul of King Ludwig II — his passion for theatre, music, and beauty shines through every detail. It’s about a 20-minute walk uphill from the ticket area, but they also offer bus services (check the timings!) and horse-drawn carriage rides for a more scenic way up. The path is a bit steep, but once you reach the top, the view and the castle itself make every step worth it. King Ludwig II was truly a dreamer — and walking through his creation feels like walking inside his imagination. Go see it — it’s magical, surreal, and simply unforgettable. 🌄💙
Amrtha R — Google review
The castle is located in a beautiful setting. Tickets may be bought online or in person (reservation recommended for peak season). There’s free shuttle from downtown Füssen to the ticket center. There’s plenty of paid parking. To get up to the castle you may hire a chariot or walk up for 30-40 minutes. The scenery is beautiful and it is worth the walk. During summer the path is shaded by the threes. Inside the castle there’s plenty of stairs to go up. I advise looking up if it is wheelchair accessible.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5-Star Review – Neuschwanstein Castle Parking at Platz 4 is very spacious and costs €12 for 6 hours, conveniently located right next to where you catch the bus up to the castle. The bus fare is €5 per adult round trip, and it’s a smooth ride with beautiful scenery along the way. At the top, the area is clear and open, perfect for walking or biking with stunning views all around. The trails are beautiful, offering several photo spots and breathtaking panoramas of the castle and the valley below. There’s also a small snack and souvenir shop at the top with plenty of space and clean bathrooms, making it an easy and comfortable stop before or after exploring. Overall, Neuschwanstein Castle is a magical experience — well worth the visit and the walk. The scenery alone makes it unforgettable!
Jose P — Google review
When near Fussen and Schwangau Neuschwanstein Castle is a must. A beautiful 40 minute uphill walk will bring you there. You can take a shuttle or horse and buggy but the walk is doable if you like and are used to walking/hiking. We did not pay to go in but got good photos from many vantage points outside.
Leila S — Google review
You won't regret visiting here. It's beautiful on the outside but absolutely gorgeous on the inside. If you have trouble walking, definitely take the horse carriage up and/or down (costs money). The walk down is much easier. They have the cutest store after the tour and don't forget to check out the view outside near the bathrooms before leaving. You will not regret it!!

Absolutely breathtaking and immersive. The hike up is beautiful and you can take your time just enjoying the scenery. Plenty of photo opportunities outside of the castle, but no pictures inside until you get to the cafe.

Historical place
Linderhof Palace, a 19th-century creation of King Ludwig II, is a stunning display of opulence and grandeur. The palace and its surrounding park form an artistic and stylistically complex ensemble. Modeled after French architecture, it resembles the small summer palaces found in France's parklands during the 18th century.
Strongly recommend to take a tour inside the Castle. From the outside, it looks like just another castle, but interiors are top 👍. I really wished they let us take photos inside this palace, would have been awesome. Do visit the cave for a pleasant surprise
Praveen K — Google review
The trip tour was enjoyable, and the scenery towards the area was like a painting. The castle and its surrounding gardens offered a truly breathtaking view. It would have been preferable to have had more time to fully appreciate the surroundings because an hour was not sufficient, as the guided tour inside the castle lasted only 25 minutes. The interior of the castle was quite beautiful and ornate. No photos or video allowed inside the castle.
Alexis Y — Google review
This is a beautiful dream palace that speaks to the wealth of the region. The interior is simply breathtaking , especially the mirrors hall, and the palace itself is nestled among tall hills that seem like blue printed to add to the grandeur of the king and his legacy, albeit in infrastructure alone as Ludwig II left no heirs
Erida L — Google review
Schloss Linderhof is magnificent. What an extraordinary park with a decadent palace and a truly impressive Venus Grotto. This is where dreams come true for all admirers of absolutism — a truly unique experience. From the landscaped gardens, the fountain to breathtaking Alpine views, this place offers everything one could wish for. The guided tour of the palace is somewhat short, as Schloss Linderhof itself is not particularly large, but it is nonetheless rich in detail and absolutely worthwhile. This place is an absolute must-see! A wholehearted recommendation. Entrance fees and parking costs are entirely reasonable.
Julian W — Google review
Bavaria in the fall is a cornucopia of colors, and the grounds of Schloss Linderhof are stunning even with empty flower beds. Tours of the inside of the palace are timed and can accommodate whatever your native language happens to be. My husband and I went on the English speaking tour, and our guide was wonderfully informative and answered all of the questions the group had. Photos and video are not allowed inside the palace but are allowed in the Venus Grotto. King Ludwig II was an interesting historical figure. This castle is the only one Ludwig spent any real amount of time in, and it was his love letter to the Palace of Versailles and King Luis XIV. I’d highly recommend seeing this palace for yourself.
Babs M — Google review
I love visiting Ludwig II castles and I think that this one is one of my personal favorite. I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the gardens and the castle itself. Yes the castle is very small compared to the other ones he made but the inside is as spectacular as the others. Also you can find some hidden treasures in the garden like the Venus Grotto or the Moroccan pavilion which (if I remember correctly) he bought from the Paris Fair. It’s really amazing! The visit of the castle is with a tour guide and no photos are allowed inside unfortunately. The visit is quite short and you can’t always hear everything because it’s busy. The group is too big for the size of the rooms so you can’t admire it peacefully. It’s a shame! Also the management could be improved. We wanted to visit the Venus Grotto and had to come early in the morning to book our ticket. We already had our timed tickets for the palace but couldn’t get the Venus Grotto beforehand. So when they gave us the ticket the time slot was almost the same as the guided tour. We told them and they said we could join any tour of the morning. When we tried to do that we were told that it was tricky because they only allowed a certain amount inside. We ended up waiting for almost an hour before getting inside with another group for an English tour. But it was a bit stressful and we lost quite some time.
Melanie M — Google review
Jaw dropping! Instantly you can see why this palace is a World Heritage Site. This is a VERY small palace but every single inch of it is full of decoration and design! Make sure you get a ticket to the Grotto, it is straight out of Little Mermaid! This entire destination is over the top and if your mouth isn’t hanging on the ground like all 6 of us, I’d be shocked. Pictures are not allowed inside, so my pictures are from the internet (I have limited them). We weren’t sure about the weather so we purchased our tickets when we arrived and got them easily. The walk to this palace wasn’t too bad, it has a few hills we took our time and it took half hour to get to the castle and we took a half hour to get to the Grotto…my 75 year old parents made it (one has knee issues and the other hip replacement). The grounds are stunning and full of flowers, fountains and views! We spent 5 hours there EASILY. We packed a picnic and ate on the benches that are all around this palace. Bathrooms are limited so use them when you see them. There are hiking trails all around the property with views of mountains.

UNESCO world heritage Park that is top notch in size, beauty and features. It's free, never locked and has the most flowers, herbs, trees and walking trails imaginable. Kneipp baths (multiple leg stations, arm stations for adults, kids and disabled people), educational herb garden with smell stations, frog pond, huge bird aviaries, fountains, lakes with duck islands, exercise and mobility stations ("the five Esslingers"), agility and balancing trails, barefoot trails, labyrinth, mud station to walk through and so much more. All based on Kneipp's natural healing therapies. You can't ever see it all, but you can try...

Amazing location if you are looking for for a calm therapeutic nature walk. There are trailed walks pathways where you can walk barefoot and experience different senses. Though I have visited here before but yesterday the rose garden was not well maintained, I think this years constant rain was not good. Highly recommended as well if you are coming here with elderly parents

Great destination for a calm therapeutic nature walk. One gets both peaceful and meditative encounter. The area is touristic also. I like the spacing and varieties of things to explore. It makes one appreciate the things we often take for granted. It's inspirational the history of the place and those that made it really happen. Fully recommend and worth your time if you're anywhere close to Bavaria.

Amazing park to visit in the middle of the forest. Beautiful rose garden and lovely lake. A bit disappointed as they don't keep the very famous umbrellas for longer time in the summer. Would be nicer if they stay there for the full summer time. Free parking for 2h. And Toilet facilities. There could be more take away coffee places and refreshments.

The barefoot trail is a lot of fun for the whole family. My only complaint is that some sections could be better marked since the paved road interrupts the trail. The trail is pretty rough on your feet but it is worth it for the experience. Some of the stations along the trail are mud pits, balance bridges, and various walking textures. Parking is a little difficult especially on weekends when the weather is nice. There are also limited lockers on site to store shoes. They require a 1 or 2 euro coin that is returned at the end of use.

Must visit! Kids had lot of fun. We were there on weekday so we could take most of the rides. Not much rush on weekends. Still we couldn’t cover everything. Need multiple visits if you plan to experience every ride. Food options are also great.

We was at the first time in Skyline Park near Bad Wörrishöfen. Not really crowded as used from other parks. Fair prices for food and beverages. Some attractions seemed a little bit older. Employees were helpful but not friendly. Overall it’s worth to visit Skyline Park especially with smaller children.

a wonderful amusement park! unfortunately it is only in German... all the information! there is no long waiting time! you must have printed the tickets! check the program there is a fireworks show some days at 11:00 pm!

This is an excellent park to visit if you all about the rides! The rides are great. Including some that I had never seen before in other parks. Many of the rides are not for kids under 1.40cm and they are worth it! We visited the park middle of the week. Off season and with some small rain. And we had the feeling that we have the whole park to ourselves!! Stuff is friendly and all rides are operational even if you are the only one there!! It has less of the fairytale park but for hardcode riders!!! Loved it!

Wonderful experience for the whole family - or you can just go crazy with your friends! The entry fee is a bit expensive for the first look, but you got value for your money. The food and drinks are at reasonable prices - not double takedown, and I really appreciate it. The park is clean, the staff is really kind and helpful. Grab a map at the entrance and you can spend the whole day there. Highly recommended for everyone!
Csaba S — Google review
Nice choice of rollercoasters, roundabouts, and other rides. Plenty of opportunities to dine, quite some at reasonable prices. The experience very much depends on the length of the waiting queues and thus on the number of people visiting the park. We went on a Friday in August, where many Bavarians are on vacation, so it was great. Kids with a birthday +- 5 days of the visit are free. Reduced fees for all under 1.50m. Most really heavy rides are free from 1.50m and 14 years of age.

We went here on 3 November during kids autumn break, knowing it was the last week before Skyline closes for winter break: we paid the full price as it would of been summer season, a lot of amusements did not work as well as small huts with snacks were also closed. The staff for the rides were extremely RUDE and moody. We started to question if that was after Halloween mood or what has happened but everyone working there was super grumpy. It was quite disappointing experience and not worth of the money we spent.
Ieva S — Google review
If you want to use the train you have to walk 10-15 minutes from the station Rammingen bay to arrive the parking space and from there enter the park. If you are alone walking through empty fields might feel a bit uneasy. At least for me as a solo visitor arriving there early Sunday. You are provided with a useful map at the ticket booth. Adrenaline seekers should pick red-marked-equipments. There are beautiful sites for nature lovers as well. You need at least 5-6 hours to walk around and stay in line for your favourite games. The price and distance worth the adventure.

St. Peter und Paul, also known as the Oberammergau Parish church, is a stunning example of southern German Baroque architecture. Built between 1735 and 1749 by Joseph Schmuzer, it features intricate rococo design and was adorned with sculptures by Franz Xaver Schmadl and frescoes by Mattha Gunther. The church boasts a main altar along with four side altars, elaborate stucco work, and impressive ceiling and wall frescoes.
St. Peter und Paul Church is stunning on the inside, with intricate details that make it worth a visit. It's also surrounded by a beautiful, peaceful cemetery that adds to the serene atmosphere. Definitely a great stop if you have the time to explore!

A very beautiful, impressive and inspiring church, well maintained. The sculptures, the paintings, the upstair floors - they are all wonderful. We visited twice and would recommend it to everybody

Beautiful hidden gem in Obermergau! Loved the architecture of this catholic parish church! It was built between 1735–1749 according to the plans by Joseph Schmuzer. It has a main and four side altars, rich stucco work, large-scale ceiling and wall frescoes, a pulpit and an organ. Loved the art on the altar and the graveyard!

Moon S — Google review
It is the Catholic parish church of Oberammergau in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen District (Bavaria), is an important example of the southern German Baroque. It was built from 1735 to 1749. The sculptures were created by Franz Xaver Schmädl, the pictures and frescoes by Matthäus Günther. A pre-Romanesque predecessor church was probably built as early as the ninth century, possibly replacing an even older wooden church. At this time, the Welfe Ethiko withdrew here with twelve companions to a life in a monastic community. In 1167, the Kempten monastery was given twelve courtyards with the right to present themselves through the church. In 1295 and 1362 they became the property of the Augustinian monastery in Rottenbuch. All pastors of Oberammergau can be completely documented from 1432 to the secularization of the monastery in 1802; they all were Augustinian Canons. The Oberammergau parish was founded in the 12th century by the Rottenbuch canon monastery, with which it remained pastorally connected until secularization. The first church was replaced by a Gothic building in the High Middle Ages. This had become so dilapidated at the beginning of the 18th century that the new baroque building was tackled. The middle picture of the high altar shows the Mother of God as the heavenly helper of those who ask for intercession and contribute gifts. It is replaced by a figure of the risen Christ during Easter and the Passion Play. The statues of the apostles Peter and Paul as well as the outside of St. Joseph and Joachim with their attributes are remarkable. The Lamb of God is enthroned on the book with seven seals above the tabernacle . The two side altars on the choir arch are dedicated to the theme of redemption through Christ's sacrifice on the cross. The left altar shows in a rare representation God's decision to salvation as an "inner conversation" of the Trinity. The saints Martin and Gregory the miracle worker appear at the side. The right altar shows Christ on the cross -- this cross is considered to be the one in front of which the Oberammergau residents took their vows of the Passion Play in the year of the plague in 1633 -- with Mary and John and, on the outside, the "good thief" Dismas and Mary Magdalene . The altars in the side extensions are dedicated to the holy clan (left; altarpiece by Günther) and Saint Anthony of Padua (right; picture by Johann Jakob Zeiller ). It's a very gorgeous sanctuary to say the least (photos).

Ettal Abbey, located just a few minutes away from Oberammergau, is a renowned Benedictine monastery with a Baroque church featuring a frescoed dome. The abbey has been brewing beer for over 400 years and offers its famous Weissbrau. Visitors can explore the chapel, browse unique items in the monastery shop, and visit the cheese factory/store behind the monastery. The abbey also houses a boarding school, hotel, distillery, and bookshop.
Ettal Abbey – A Beautiful and Peaceful Stop Worth Visiting Ettal Abbey is a stunning historic site that was just a short distance from where I was staying during a work trip. The architecture and grounds are absolutely beautiful, and it has a peaceful, serene atmosphere that makes it a great spot to explore or just take in the scenery. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or just looking for a scenic place to stop, I highly recommend visiting. It’s definitely worth the detour if you’re in the area.

The abbey is free to enter, and though beautiful there is not a lot to see around the December holidays other than spending a few minutes in the (cold) chapel and wandering through the large gift shop. Facilities: In busier times there is a cafe. Small/mid-sized car parks are available for a few euros, and just a few minute walk from the chapel.

Incredible house of God. Beautiful stunning architecture and painting. It took my breath away🥹 The colours and grounds are looked after so beautifully. Located in a stunning little town with so much history. The shop there is wonderful full of craftsmanship from the local people and people who live and work at the Abbey. Will be coming again!

A BEAUTIFUL monastery and basilica! Construction started in 1330, finish a century or so later…. This Benedictine monastery has been known throughout the centuries for its brewed and distilled libations and its cheese. The church is amazing… not big in size, but a knockout in stature! We heard someone practicing singing for Mass, the acoustics are great! A must see if you’re in the Ettal, DE area!

The place is a must to visit if you stay in Ettal or traveling through, the beer especially the dark beer very good! Their liquor nice too and the view amazing! Guide os possible but you can enter freely too and look around. Definitely recommend!!!

The highlight is the excellent cheese they make, purchase at the cheese house (see pic, free views), and the beer they brew. I was told by a local hiker I met on Mount Wank that the beer was unique, and it really is: dark but no bitterness with a creamy finish.

LEGOLAND Germany is a family-friendly amusement park featuring thrilling rides and an aquarium, as well as impressive replicas of German landmarks constructed from LEGO bricks. Visitors can opt to stay at the LEGOLAND Hotels within the Holiday Village, which offers access to various amenities including restaurants, playgrounds, and a high ropes course. The park also provides opportunities for guests to observe the LEGO manufacturing process and create their own LEGO bricks. Additionally, there are water rides that offer an adrenaline rush.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 We had an amazing time at LEGOLAND Germany! The whole family enjoyed it from start to finish. October was a perfect time to visit—great weather and fun Halloween decorations throughout the park added to the magic. There were rides for all ages, and the kids especially loved the playgrounds and interactive areas. One of the smartest features: dedicated play zones near some of the rides so kids can stay entertained while adults wait in line—brilliant! The park layout is very manageable—flat and easy to walk without feeling exhausting. Bathrooms were accessible and food prices weren’t too crazy for a theme park, which was a pleasant surprise. All around, a fun and memorable family day. We’ll definitely be back (got the annual pass)!
Adriel R — Google review
A very successful experience for children aged 4-12. A large place with lots of options that are very difficult to complete in one day due to the long lines for most of the facilities. You have to arrive with a lot of patience. Overall, this is a park where the attractions themselves are not crazy, but the "wrapping" of Lego does its job. The place is very neat and clean and easy to navigate. Overall, this is a recommended day out for the family.
Yonatan A — Google review
This is in my opinion the best of the 3 Legoland parks in Europe. Everything is good value here, especially the food and the quality of said food is fantastic. I went into the pizza restaurant and paid around €16 for a fresh out of the oven pizza and amazing chocolate tart. They both felt like they came from an expensive restaurant, very tasty and beautiful presentation. You have the best selection of rides here from small to thrilling. A really good variety - the best being Maximus. An absolutely thrilling b&m coaster which despite the short ride time, offers some incredible moments of weightlessness. The park is kept tidy and clean - the bathrooms are cleaned very regularly. Queues are managed well and have the bonus of single rider if you're a lone traveller like me. Saves a lot of time. Theres a few little themed shops dotted around and although a couple were closed on my trip due to the time of year possibly, there's still a lot on offer. More than any other Lego park in Europe like I said. I had the best 2 days here and I can't wait to come back again.

We took the kids to Germany and our first stop before traditional castles and museums was Legoland Germany! We LOVED it. Drove straight from airport to the hotel (we stayed at the Pirate Hotel), checked in, then did a full afternoon and evening till close. We ate at the steak restaurant near hotels and onsite for snacks, lunch, etc. We prepaid for breakfast at Pirate hotel. Because of birthdays, we did the birthday package (they decorated the room and more) and because tip mattered we did the VIP package. THIS was worth every penny! We skipped the line at every ride, got extra swag & mini figures, and store discounts [don’t forget to ask for tax refund forms at the store (typically 100 or more spent)]. The staff are awesome and most are bilingual if you are rusty. If you are a LEGO fan or traveling Germany with kids, this place is worth every penny! For the super fans, they had themes we found no where else (e.g. adventure series at the log ride); and rides that are not found at the US Legolands. Augsburg and Ulm are nearby if you need a culture/ museum break.

We spent lovely 2days here, great experience for us, adults and our kids. We had lovely weather, so a lot of people arrived, and some attractions were crowded, and we had to wait. Luckily it was just occasionally. Plus was Halloween decorations and products that can bring home🎃🎃 Thank you, will come again.

Great place for young kids . We spent one day there , 2 would have been better as we didn’t see everything. Very reasonable as once you pay all the rides are free . Ideal kids age 5-12.

An absolute dream holiday location for my family and I. My son and daughter loved it, the rides were great, food was good and queues were decent. Staff were very friendly, parking wasn't an issue and having Peppa Pig Park right next door made it ideal for my 2 year old daughter too! It was also great fun for my wife and I. Unforgettable memories were made and we cannot wait to visit once again!
David C — Google review
If you or your kids like LEGO then you must visit, the place is huge and there are a lot of activities for all ages. To really cover it you need at least 2 days to get on most of the rides. The only downside is the large ques that form so you don't like to wait a lot then maybe pay more for the express pass. You can also get tickets online for both the park and the parking which I recommend to save some time.

Really nice place. Best termal I've ever been. The staff at the reception was so nice too
Juan A — Google review
Pros: great view to the lake; food surprisingly good and big portion, I had the goulash only. Family friendly for family with children. For people don't want to be nude they can go on family days. Staff was friendly enough for German standard. Con: Not very high-end if you compare with Vabali. The facilities, lockers chairs, sauna rooms scream 70s but pricing is not too much difference if you compare them with the high end therme such as Vabali and the ones in black forest.
Isolde L — Google review
Unlike many reviews I found the Therme well kept and clean with lots of character. Specially liked the Hubertus Sauna that is in a repurposed mountain hut and the sauna ceremony. The access to the lake makes the experience even better. The steam bath could have been warmer but overall nothing to complain about. We had a free 4 hour access with the Konings card and it was the perfect place for a rainy day.

Had a great experience at Kristall, the sauna Welt is a top class facility… but what really allowed me to feel really relaxed and at ease was a really amazing vibrations/sport massage I received. Adriana the massage therapist is extremely talented and professional.

Most of all I liked the view from the pool on the lake and Mountains. There are several pools indoor with warm water and outdoor, high water slide for both children and adults. If you go downstairs You can also swim in the lake or rent a sup board ( 15 euro per hour). Unfortunately we were with children on Thursday and we could not use saunas. Family days are Tuesdays and Sunday’s.

Amazing Aufguss, especially the wellness Aufguss with honey scrub. The Sauna Meisters were on point, excellent service and hard workers that made a big impact on my time at the spa. Incredible views Kochelsee from all both levels of the sauna area. I really enjoyed the 12% salt bath on the balcony outside. The swim up pool bar is really cool and the bartenders are friendly. Overall an amazing and relaxing experience. My strongest recommendation to visit this spa if you are in Bavaria, you’ll walk out feeling heavenly!

Franz Marc Museum

Museums
Paintings by a leading 20th-century artist at his former home, plus work by peers like Paul Klee.
Beautiful building in an exceptionally astonishing nature surroundings, worth a visit even just for a great view of Kochelsee. Admission 9 EUR with some reduced offers, for example for students it’s 6 EUR. Beautiful (although limited) collection of Franz Marc, Blaue Reiter and Bridge group artworks.

elegant art museum with blauereiter and contemporary exhibit. plus the nice lake view
Nathan G — Google review
A very elegant museum, not much in the museum itself just the artwork. But I think it beautifully portrayed the expressionist ideas of Franz Marc and the ideas off 20th century painters, there is also a beautiful room with four chairs in it where you have a splendid view of the lake and mountains. The whole thing is just very nice it's remote and minimalistic with only the painting being a pop of color in the establishment. But now the negatives, I would've really liked a larger exhibit, as the flors didn't have many paintings, which even though it looked nice, at the end of the day there weren't many paintings in there. Also the name is kinda misleading, it says Franz Marc museum but most of the art is from other blue rider and expressionist Painters. But overall a nice experience and I would totally recommend.
Theo K — Google review
I walked around 15 mins to the museum from Kochel Train station. Directions are marked on the way. The place was really peaceful and beautiful. The lake and car parking is very close from this place. It was very difficult to find a place to eat. I had to walk back in the direction of the train station to find a restaurant. There is a restaurant of the museum that is not so cheap and opens in specific times.
Priyanka M — Google review
Normally I do not expect much of art galleries and museum in small towns but I was very pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Very well designed building and surroundings. Also the possibility to watch the evolution of Franz Marc's ouevre under influences from French painters is an interesting journey. The temporary exhibition of Elfriede Lohse-Waechtler was a very good experience. Highly recommended!

Along the waterfront, there are cafes and beer gardens where you can enjoy local dishes made with fresh fish from the lake, cheese from Tegernsee hay milk, and meat from Upper Bavarian pasture veal. Visitors can take boat trips on the lake or simply stroll along its calm shores. The area is perfect for activities like stand-up paddleboarding, sunbathing, and swimming.

Herrsching am Ammersee is one of my favorite escapes from the city. The beach area is clean, scenic, and perfect for relaxing by the water, even on cloudy days. You can dip your feet in the lake, enjoy a picnic on the grass, or simply sit and take in the stunning views. The sight of yachts and sailboats gently floating on the lake adds a special charm, especially in the evening light. There’s a beautiful lakeside promenade and a well-kept park with plenty of space to walk, read, or just unwind under the trees. Whether you're looking for quiet time alone or a relaxing day trip with family or friends, Herrsching offers the perfect mix of nature, water, and serenity. Don’t miss the ferry pier. Pilgrims flock to the monastery not just for prayer, but also to enjoy the famous beer served in the outdoor beer garden that can accommodate over 3,000 people.
An amazing place that blends Medieval atmosphere with traditional Bavarian feel. I deeply appreciated the chance to pay homage to the great composer Carl Orff. Unique brewery and wonderful food. Live music by highbrow Baverian orchestras. One of the ladies at the souvenir shop can be quite cranky though, if she needs to handle more than three. souvenir items at a time :)

The reception staff behind the Wallfahrtskirche were very helpful. I was able to obtain some Klein Geld for the Wohnmobilstellplatz here. They could however not explain why the Chapel of Sorrows and Carl Orff shrine were locked shut! Said it never closes! At least 20 people were disappointed.

Its a whole experience even getting here, including an hour or so hike, but so very worth it. Our hike was beautiful, fall colors everywhere. One of the most relaxing spots near Munich! The shore at Starnberg is clean, calm, and offers stunning views of the lake — especially on clear days when you can even spot the Alps. There are plenty of benches, walking paths, and grassy areas to sit and unwind. The promenade is perfect for a quiet walk, with cafés and bakeries nearby if you want a coffee or snack. Whether you’re coming alone for reflection, with family, or for a light picnic, it’s a beautiful escape that feels both serene and safe. Highly recommend for a day trip or just a few quiet hours by the water. Many water sports are available for adventure enthusiasts. Large area of shore at Starnberg town side is privately owned and can't be accessible for public.

One of the many scenic lakes surrounding Munich, though it arguably has the least welcoming atmosphere. I’ve biked there many times, but rarely find myself wanting to stay for long. Still, on a clear day, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Alps in the distance. Even more spectacular views if you fly above.
Laurin W — Google review
I see why it’s Luwid II favorite lake….. you can see the Aples very clearly as backdrops everywhere. It’s literally stunning.🤩

Starnberger See is a very beautiful lake! It is very serene and calm. It's a place where you can go to unwind and relax and enjoy a break away from the city. With RE it took us just 15 minutes from Munich Hauptbahnhof. Would highly recommend this place!

City Hall
Sights & Landmarks
Augsburg Town Hall, also known as Augsburger Rathaus, is a significant historical building in Augsburg, Germany. Constructed in the early 17th century by architect Elias Holl, it stands as a remarkable example of German Renaissance secular architecture. The highlight of this iconic landmark is the opulent Golden Hall ('Goldener Saal'), renowned for its lavish gilded wooden ceiling and intricate decorations.
One of the historical buildings in Augsburg, it was rebuilt after 60% of it being destroyed during WW2. Golden hall is absolutely worth it. The building itself welcomes both working politicians and visitors at the same time. We almost disrupted heated debate there.
Saba B — Google review
One of the city landmarks, located in front of a lovely square with café and bars.
Tony B — Google review
built in the 1600's by Elias Holl with the late renaissance architecture. it is the icon of the city with Eagle painting on the front and the pine coat of arm on the Top. impressive architecture and the entrance is free on the Groundfloor where you can visit the war memorials and ancient relics and modules from the City.
David A — Google review
Quite a sight to behold from the outside, more so on the inside. Only a €2.50 entry fee for adults to enter the Goldener Saal (Golden Hall), which is very impressive. You can also visit a couple of informative exhibitions for free on the ground floor, including a brief history of Augsburg.
Adrian F — Google review
Wow. The golden room is definitely worth visiting. Reasonable €2.5 per person to visit. This beautiful building has a hidden golden nugget inside. Literally. The golden room has over 2.7kg (5Lbs) of gold coating all over the moldings and statues. The history of this over 450 years old building is fascinating, and how it survived and was rebuilt after WW2. The staff dis knowledgeable and super helpful with any questions when visiting. They even offer a folder in English or Spanish for international visitors.
Phil L — Google review
The "golden saal" or the golden hall inside is beautiful and amazing. The entrance fee is cheap especially if you are student, anyway to enter the rathaus is free. You will also have a good view of the square down below from the hall.

Must go inside - build outside looks like any other - but inside it’s amazing. Definitely on list to see

Unfortunately, I didn't had the chance to enter this beautiful piece of history, just outside the views...

Augsburger Dom is a Romanesque/Gothic cathedral with square towers and renowned 12th-century stained-glass windows. It is considered one of the most important Renaissance architecture north of the Alps and is the city's landmark. The cathedral, founded in the 12th century, has undergone many reconstructions and now features a neo-Gothic style. Inside, visitors can admire original stained glass and authentic paintings dating back to the 11th century.
Such a beautiful cathedral dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, Mary. There is an extensive crypt under this cathedral. It truly is remarkable the construction quality and craftsmanship that existed 500 years ago. It doesn’t exist today.
Georgia L — Google review
I was surprised for the big dimensions of this cathedral, very nice building with many paintings inside, very interesting if you are interested in history and architecture.
Jorge L — Google review
It is impossible to express the atmosphere with words. Everyone must feel it for themselves. It's very old and massive cathedral not very far from city hall. It is home to oldest surviving stained glass. The paintings with some dating back to 11th century are authentic. Be aware that it closes at 6.
Saba B — Google review
A very beautiful The Cathedral of Augsburg, founded in the 11th century. Very detailed art works with original stained glass. You can easily spend 45 minutes walking around inside and out. We went on Sunday and did not pay to get in, not sure if there is s fee at all. It is worth the visit.
Reshma T — Google review
Medieval Cathedral that was renewed with the Gothic style. 62m high and impressively high with beautiful art glass work, a corridor full of saints/priests Tombs. shrines surrounding the main altar. its the icon of the city.
David A — Google review
This cathedral is the most visited site in Augsburg and also it's most important church. It's founded in the 12th century but the original church even dates back to 8th century and it is a Roman Catholic church. Through the years many reconstructions were made and now it has neo-Gothic style as well. It was an interesting and calming experience to walk inside and enjoy the silence and the beauty of the arts inside.

Fuggerei is a historic public housing complex that has been in operation since the 16th century and features an on-site museum. The city center, where Fuggerei is located, also boasts attractions such as the town hall, street fountains, Weberhaus, numerous churches, a zoo and botanical garden, a football stadium, Mozart's house, MAN museum, Zeughaus, Maximilianmuseum and Riegele beer museum.
Such a unique and interesting place! It’s the world’s oldest social housing complex, and you can really feel the history walking through the little streets. The apartments are tiny and cozy, and it’s cool to see how people lived here for the past hundreds of years and so. Keep in mind though that people still live there! There’s also a few little museums inside some of the residences that go over the story of how the place started, how they lived, struggles, etc. As well as a bunker that you can explore. Definitely worth a quick visit if you’re in Augsburg!

Went on a Augsburg Fugger Tour. Last stop was the Fuggerei. Have always been curious about it and it's history. Quite amazing that it still exists till this day an age and functioning the same way it always has. Absolutely incredible. The grounds are extremely well kept and just a beautiful part of living history. Must go when you visit Augsburg. After the tour you can also visit tiny beer garden by the entrance.
Philicia — Google review
Really cool to hear about how this social housing was started. The people can live here for €1 per year, and just have to be Catholic, pray everyday, and be in need. It’s definitely worth the €8 entrance fee.

It was a wonderful experience visiting the world’s oldest public housing. We went on a weekday morning, and the atmosphere was calm and peaceful, which made exploring even more enjoyable. Purchasing the ticket at the entrance was simple, and the site itself was easy to navigate. The area is beautifully maintained, with so much attention to detail that you really feel immersed in its rich history. Walking through the space gives you a true sense of cultural heritage, and it’s both educational and inspiring. I would definitely recommend this visit to anyone interested in culture and history—it’s a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience something truly special.

I visited The Fuggerei on two different trips, once in 2010 and then again in 2023. It's a neat experience with in Augsburg and i definitely recommend checking it out. The history here is interesting for sure and the architecture in germany in general always amazes me. I would recommend tickets in advance, although was not busy when we went. My aunt had picked them up ahead of time for us.
Mark L — Google review
Fuggerei in Augsburg is often touted as a must-see historical site, but unless you’re deeply interested in social housing history, it’s largely underwhelming. The quaint buildings and quiet atmosphere feel more like a sleepy neighborhood than a captivating attraction. The real standout is the WWII bunker—an unexpectedly compelling and haunting part of the visit. It offers a chilling, immersive look into wartime life and far surpasses the rest of the experience. If you’re nearby and curious, stop by for the bunker, but otherwise, it’s probably not worth going out of your way.
Keerthy N — Google review
A fascinating historical place that is definitely worth visiting. It beautifully combines the charm of the past with the spirit of the present. I loved the peaceful atmosphere and the feeling of stepping back in time. The houses and small museums provide a wonderful glimpse into old life, and everything is well organized for visitors. Highly recommended when in Augsburg.

Dachau Palace is a captivating destination that invites visitors to explore its rich history and stunning architecture. Once a vibrant hub for artists, this baroque palace now stands as a reminder of both the beauty and darker chapters of the town's past. Surrounded by meticulously designed gardens that date back to the Renaissance, guests can wander through geometric flower beds and admire preserved pavilions offering breathtaking views of Munich and the Alps.
Such a great garden view terrace! Highly recommend to take a walk in the garden.

If you are already in Dachau, definitely worth a visit. Not so sure about coming all the way from Munich It has just one ceremony hall, but a beautiful one. The gardens are very nice. The observation desk on the left has a beautiful panorama of Munich

Verry nice place to visit , nice view over the city and surroundings.
Gabriel B — Google review
Beautiful palace in Dachau located up on the mountain with beautiful views over the city of Dachau and towards Munich. One can easily spot the O2-Tower as well as the Allianz Arena on clear days you'll see the alpine range in the background. Worth a visit during the whole year. Especially also the gardens where a wide range of flowers and different sorts of apple trees are cultivated.
David M — Google review
IMHO the best palace garden! Huge variety of flowers for such a small place, always clean and well-maintained. Magnificent view of Munich area because it is on top of a small hill, and for the same reason very few pests! Easily accessible with entrances on three sides. There is free Wi-Fi near the non-restaurant entrance. There is also a free public washroom in the back alley opposite St. Jakob church, next to a TEDi store. The palace itself isn't spectacular, as reflected in the cheap entrance fee. But there's a chill restaurant where you can dine inside.
Mobile C — Google review
A very sobering experience. There is a warning when entering that it's not recommended for 12 and under. I had my 14 year old granddaughter with me and wished that we skipped the last two rooms. Otherwise a great learning experience I'm glad we did. The entry is free of charge, but there are opportunities to donate some cash along the way.
