The Khambhalida Buddhist Caves are a hidden gem nestled at the foot of small hillocks by a spring. Carved out of limestone rocks, these caves consist of three main chambers, with the central one housing the stupa known as chaitya cave. The site also features two sculptures of Bodhisattva flanking the entrance to the chaitya cave. Despite being an archaeological site in Gujarat, it has been neglected and lacks proper management and promotion for tourism.
Buddhist caves of khambhalida is an archaeological site in Gujarat. There are only 2 caves but the entire lime stone 🪨 structure depict it's gravity itself. You can see the carving in the caves that is the main attraction 🧲 of the caves But do not worry, now the place is well developed with many sitting area under natural shade of trees 🌴 as well good management for parking 🅿️ and bird 🐦 feeding. And no ticket 🎟️ charges to visit. PS: best time to visit this place is in monsoon. there I river flowing behind the caves.

This place has potential to be developed as a major tourist attraction for it’s historical significance and Gujarat tourism must make efforts to publicize it on their web site and also transport arrangements from Rajkot airport. It is so great to see the history of old Tibetan / Jain monks from 4th century making this place for meditation.
Prashant G — Google review
too long journey, to see just ruins of ancient heritage site very pity for the archaeological dept, govt of India and local people.. who are happy by not conserving, this very much important part of our rich history.. still its aura is amazing, nearby river and jungle is serene to feel the aura roads are good to reach till the gate, ample parking space, not maintained toilets are rusted n not cleaned. tickets or entry pass not needed, it's free. 15 to 20 minutes enough to see the site no food or water available in and around some lovebirds wandering around, as it is a lonely place..
Jinesh ( — Google review
Archeologically important and very ancient Buddhist caves with a small river flowing in front of the caves and lots of green trees in surroundings. Surrounding environment is calm and cool. Enough parking space available outside. New Buddhist temple besides these caves is also being developed.
Dipak P — Google review
Must visit this place early in the morning or in the evening. The sound of peacocks all around creates a beautiful atmosphere, and the touch of nature will truly lift your spirits.
Narendra S — Google review
10minutes from Khambhalida Temple these Buddhist caves are a hidden gem. This is a very small part of what could have been a bigger residence or meditation cave for Buddhist Monks in the ancient era. The cave is not open for exploration but this is a must visit if you are a history buff. Also, the natural environment makes a perfect opt for a photoshooot. The place is secluded and in the middle of a jungle, many locals can be spotted however avoid wandering off the trek one can easily gets lost in the Jungle.

Shree Ghela Somnath Mahadev Mandir is a less popular but historically significant temple in Gujarat. It holds the Shiva Linga that was brought here from Somnath during an attack by Ghori, with Minaldevi and Ghelo Vanoyo risking their lives to protect it. The temple is about 40 minutes away from Gadhada and offers food, stay facilities, and parking for devotees.
Which we know by the name of Mahadev, that is Bholiyanath, that is Ghela Somnath Mahadev, which is located in Jasdan taluka. This is the Shankar Bhagwan temple, which we know by the name of Ghela Somnath. On the circumambulation path of Ghela Somnath temple, the names of the twelve Jyotirlingas and information about them are given. When you enter the temple, a garden has also been made on its left side in the name of the martyred soldier. What else can I say where there is real Somnath Mahadev and also Ghela Somnath, to whom you can get whatever you wish for.A photo of the history of Ghela Somnath has also been added to the review.

I visited Shree Ghela Somnath Temple early in the morning. The place was very peaceful and calm. The sound of sparrows in the morning made the experience even more beautiful. The temple is clean and surrounded by nature. It feels very spiritual and relaxing. The idol of Lord Shiva is very powerful and gives a feeling of peace and energy

Established in 2001 by Deepak Agrawal, the museum aims to educate children about global cultures through an entertaining experience. It is a must visit and best place for kids to see different cultures around the world and that too under one roof. The Dolls Museum is one of it's kind with amazing dolls from around the world. A must visit place in Rajkot. The cultures of different countries are being reflected with the eye catchy doll setups. The place reflects different cultures from around 102+ country with 1600+ Dolls in museum. It's on 2nd and 3rd floor. There is a lift available. Monday is closed. The staff is also very well informed and they narrated us the complete story behind the set up of this museum. The main thing is no doll being purchased, but all dolls are being gifted by all rotary clubs around the world… The entry fee is Rs. 30 per person. There is extra Rs. 30 charge per camera if you want to take photographs. Cool place....
Shanaaya D — Google review
A very nice place to visit with children. There are various collections of dolls from different countries. Entry fee Rs 30 per person Mobile photography fees Rs 30 per mobile. You can enjoy it here with your kids and family.
Sridhar J — Google review
It's is one of the best museum of Gujarat, to understand the global culture. However its in narrow area, parking is also little problem. Worth to visit. Spare 1-2 hours.
Lalit G — Google review
A unique museum!! It's a rare opportunity to see a Dolls museum, here in Rajkot. Good to visit with children. The museum is situated on 2&3 rd floors. The lift was not working when we reached there. We had to climb steps. It was built by an ex Rotary president of Rajkot for his daughter. He wrote mails to Rotary branches of the world and hence many international branches sent dolls representing their country and regions. It takes around 1 hour to see all the exhibits. The rooms are air conditioned. The tickets cost ₹30 per adult and ₹15 per child. It costs another ₹125 if you want to click photos. The dolls represent their country's costume and culture. Children can spend good time there. However make sure they have emptied their bladder before. Because the toilet here is a medieval era one, on the ground floor. I wish the Rotary club would pay attention and renovate the toilet as kids come to this place.
Joel D — Google review
In one word it is simply A Magical Journey Through Cultures! The Rotary International Dolls Museum in Rajkot is a fascinating wonderland for children of all ages: Over 1,600 dolls from 102+ countries, each showcased in traditional attire and set up with miniature scenes that let kids explore global cultures at a glance. Recognized in the Limca Book of Records for its unique and expansive collection. The displays include everything from folk dance dolls (like Bhangra and Dandiya) to Barbie and Einstein figurines, string/glove puppets, and even a rare Rocking Zebra—only one of five in the world! The themed showcases are beautifully lit and educational, with info about the country, culture, music, and costumes for each doll. Friendly and helpful staff guide visitors through the exhibits and share the fascinating stories behind many dolls. Includes interactive spaces like a cinema hall showing documentaries and cultural films, a Foreign Language Learning Centre, and a souvenir shop with stickers, postcards, and miniature flags. The Rotary International Dolls Museum is a safe, clean, and well‑maintained spot with plenty of visual stimulation and educational value. It’s perfect for a fun and cultural outing with kids. Every visit feels like a mini‑world tour where curious children can learn about cultures around the globe through beautiful doll displays. Note: Highly recommended Mainly for Kids.
Siva T — Google review
A total different experience. Must visit, just 30₹ pp entry fees. This museum is surely made due to low and attraction towards dolls by rotary club. Definitely not a commercial thought process. Much appreciate the concept. They have 2 floors of museum, soveniour shop inside and collection of 1800+ different dolls from approx. 108 countries. Totally different and unique experience. Worth visiting. Please note its closed on Monday.
Sanjog K — Google review
It’s been great to see a father’s commitment to her daughter for building such a dolls museum because he wasn’t able to make her daughter saw museum in Delhi. Many activities are going on here with just deposit and if full attendance then they refund full amount. Really well preserved all dolls in museum and one Zebra ride kind of activity is great for kids.
Dhiren S — Google review
Amazing, surprising, charming and mesmerizing world of Dolls from every corner of world. This may seem to be a children's attraction...But no..Not all. This is the world of innocence, beauty. The truthfully faces of each doll reminds that this world must be filled with love only. A must visit place if you are in Rajkot.

There are rides packages available at entrance at nominal cost like Rs 200 or so for 10-12 rides else one can also pay for individual rides at multiple counters present inside the premises as well. The place is majorly clean and toilet and water facility are available. Some options for Snacks icecreams etc are also available. One can find free Parking on main road outside. During late evening times the crowd is too much so one has to wait in long queues for his/ her turn for each ride. Overall nice breakout place for couple of hours.

One of the best place in Morbi to hangout. I would strongly suggest to visit this place when you are in the city. There is a safe and enough place for parking.
Sunny V — Google review
As one enters Morbi swaying pylons of the suspension bridge and the beatific riverfront is a nostalgic reminder of Victorian London. Located 64 km from Rajkot is the town of Morbi with its quaint cobbled alleyways and buildings reminiscent of 19th century Europe. Morbi’s former ruler Sir Waghji inspired by Colonial influences designed a technologically planned and versatile city. The visitor is welcomed into the city through a grand suspension bridge, an artistic and technological marvel of that period. European influence in town planning further contributed to a central square known as the Green Chowk, approachable by three gates each designed in its own inimitable style incorporating both Rajput and Italian elements.

ISKCON Temple in Ahmedabad, also known as the Hare Krishna Temple, is a serene and beautiful compound located on Satelite Road, Sarkhej. The temple features a 12,000-sq.-ft. temple room adorned with intricate artwork and mesmerizing statues of Lord Krishna. It offers a peaceful atmosphere for meditation and spiritual contemplation.
Such a beautiful and peaceful place. The temple is huge and so well maintained. Radha Krishna, Govardhan Giriraj, and Ram Darbar murtis are all stunning. The middle canopy with Krishna’s paintings is so intricate and eye-catching — you can’t stop looking at it. The moment you enter, the walls are full of Krishna paintings and it just sets a divine vibe. Aartis are very blissful and calming. They serve khichdi as prasad and lovingly insist everyone should have it. On Ekadashi, they have fasting prasad too. There’s a proper arrangement for keeping footwear. Only thing is it gets extremely crowded during festivals, so better to go on a normal day if you want some quiet time. Feel so calm and positive every time I visit.

The temple is well-maintained and spread over a large area, giving it a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. On Janmashtami, the Mandir remains open even after 12 midnight for devotees. Every evening (around 6–7 p.m.), Khichadi Prasad is distributed to visitors. Every weekend, a Geeta Shlok session is conducted from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. At times, the temple trust organizes a complete Bhagavad Geeta learning program, which is highly recommended. Behind the temple, there is a beautiful garden, perfect for relaxation and quiet reflection.

✨ Divine Bliss and Beautiful Architecture at ISKCON, Ahmedabad (Sri Sri Radha Govind Dham) I had a truly wonderful experience visiting the ISKCON Temple on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway for a local connect meet-up with fellow local guides. As a first-time visitor to Ahmedabad, the moment I stepped inside around 4 PM, the vibe was instantly divine and incredibly soothing. The temple's architecture, a gorgeous blend of Gujarati Sompura and Rajasthani styles, is absolutely stunning! 🏛️ Architecture and Art: A Must-See The temple is an artistic marvel. The main hall is breathtaking with its gleaming marble floors and gold-accented pillars. I was particularly mesmerized by the art: * The Deities: The central deities of Sri Sri Radha Govinda are beautifully adorned and a sight to behold. * The Walls: The huge, vibrant mural art on the side walls depicts various stories of Krishna, full of colour and detail. * The Dome: The intricate circular painting on the main dome, illustrating the Rasa Lila (Lord Krishna's dance with the Gopis), is spectacular. 🙏 Spiritual Experience The highlight of our visit was attending the buildup to the Sandhya Aarti (Gaura Aarti), which generally begins around 6:30 PM. Sitting in the hall, the atmosphere came alive with the powerful, rhythmic chanting and dancing of "Hare Rama Hare Krishna." It was a deeply moving and transformative experience. ✅ Accessibility and Facilities The temple is well-managed with excellent facilities for visitors: * Footwear: There's an easy and organized shoe-keeping facility right near the entrance. * Washrooms: Clean and well-maintained washroom facilities are available. * Water: Drinking water is easily accessible within the complex. * Eatery/Prasad: * We enjoyed delicious sweets (Prasad) from the Mithaiwala stalls run by the temple trust. * The Mandir Seva eatery outside the main temple offers very simple and reasonably priced meal options. * Seva & Gifts: Counters for important services like Gau Seva (cow protection) and the Food For Life program are present . There's also a lovely gift shop called "Matchless Gifts." Overall, this ISKCON temple is not just a place of worship but a hub of art, culture, and community service with free entry. Highly recommended for a peaceful and enriching visit! Timing Tip: Plan your visit to be there for the 6:30 PM Sandhya Aarti for the full, immersive experience.
Mohita S — Google review
As in all ISKCON temples in metropolitan cities, this one too has the air of grandeur to it. However, it is much more devotee-friendly than most other ISKCONs I've visited. It's located quite far from Ahmedabad City centre, but easily accessible. I guess it will be easier to reach, once all the Metro lines start functioning.
Suresh M — Google review
Very nice temple, when you enter you find good energy in the hall area. The temple is very clean inside as well as the outside area. The atmosphere is very pleasant. One should visit with family. The temple ceiling and walls tells you the story of lord Krishna with all important events in his life. The prasad is also tasty. Even my office is behind the temple. The temple is the landmark for many travellers and is located facing SG highway. You must visit on normal days when aarti or bhajans are in progress. If you are religious you would definitely love this place even after completing darshan you can sir in the premise and experience peace.

Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad is a must-visit destination, offering a variety of attractions and activities. The iconic Sabarmati Ashram, located on the river's shores, is a significant historical site where Mahatma Gandhi spent several years. It now serves as a museum showcasing objects related to India's fight for independence. The riverfront promenade features parks, boating facilities, zip-line amusements, and markets.
Narmada river front is an absolute beauty. It seems like we are in a European country. Best time is to visit in evening or after sunset and take a stroll here. They are provide rented bicycle, scooter and even stakes to enjoy with friends and family. Amazing place and a must visit for everyone coming to visit Ahmedabad.

I went to Sabarmati Riverfront early in the morning during my exam days, and it turned out to be a very relaxing experience. The place is calm, the sound of the river waves is very soothing, and the cool morning breeze makes it even better. Ahmedabad can be quite hot, so visiting this place in the morning felt really peaceful. There’s a metro station around 2 km away, so it’s also easy to reach. The main riverfront area is open 24/7, but if you want to visit the Atal Bridge or garden area, they open after 9 AM. There are trees all around, and you can even find bicycles nearby to ride, though they are a bit costly. Still, it’s a good experience, especially for visitors from outside the city. Overall, a great spot for a quiet walk or just to sit and relax in the fresh air.
Ansh R — Google review
The riverfront is very beautiful and it is very peaceful during non-peak hours. I visited during early morning hours and I saw people cycling and jogging on the promenade. The river was very calm and greenery was lush. The infrastructure developed by the government there is very well maintained. The walking space is huge and very picturesque. The long riverfront offers ample space to exercise, cycle, run and walk. The place is also clean and not littered by plastic. I also saw a river cleaning boat gathering trash that was thrown in river during early hours.

e Sabarmati Riverfront is a major urban revitalization project in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, that transformed a neglected riverfront into a public recreational space with parks, gardens, promenades, event venues, and improved infrastructure. The project, which began in 2005, created public riverfront land by channeling the river, enabling year-round water management, reducing pollution, and providing a space for recreation, public events, and improved traffic flow. It features a two-level promenade, cycling paths, and public seating, and has become a venue for events like the International Kite Festival.

Location of this hotel is awesome and outside looks great. But inside it's pathetic and horrible as lots of cockroaches all around needs some pesticide for all rooms. Leakages and lots of maintenance in wash basins and toilet showers. Beds uncomfortable very old metresses and torn upholstery. Needs some professional staff with much cleanliness. Check room before you get in as many rooms are without proper airflow even though wount give you water bottle as well. Sights & Landmarks
Located 19 km from Ahmedabad Junction, the Shri Maa Vaishnodevi Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in Ahmedabad. Built in 2007, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Vaishnodevi and replicates the original temple in Jammu Kashmir. Situated on the Sarkhej - Gandhinagar highway, it features small caves and a man-made hill made of sandstone.
Entry Fee: There is no entry fee to visit the temple. The Shri Maa Vaishnodevi Temple in Ahmedabad is a prominent Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Vaishnodevi, a manifestation of Goddess Durga. Located on National Highway 147 (also known as Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway), it's a significant pilgrimage site in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Here's a summary of its key features: Replica Temple: It's a replica of the original Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to offer devotees a similar spiritual experience. Architecture: The temple is situated on an artificial hillock, simulating the mountain environment of the original shrine. This circular hill is built of yellow sandstone and features intricate carvings and sculptures of various gods and goddesses. Layout: Pilgrims journey through a man-made cave to reach the main shrine at the top of the hill, replicating the experience of visiting the original temple. Significance: It's a popular destination, particularly during the Navratri festival, attracting large numbers of devotees who seek the blessings of Goddess Vaishnodevi. Accessibility: The temple is situated approximately 19 km from Ahmedabad Junction and is well-connected by road, rail, and air. The nearest bus stop is at Vaishanavdevi Circle. Timings: The temple is generally open for darshan from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. However, it's worth noting that one source states the temple is only open until 7 PM and that there are restricted entry times during Aarti (6:00 PM to 6:45 PM). Dress Code: While not strictly enforced, it's advisable to wear modest attire that covers the upper arms and legs as a mark of respect.

A well-constructed temple in Ahmedabad that tries to simulate the tunnel through the rock pathway as in the temple at Katra. Here one has to literally crawl through the tunnel in some places which is a humbling experience. Just like in Katra, you are given a coin. Phones are allowed, but they must be switched off, else the security guard will do it for you! There is one restaurant at the entrance within the complex where one can get hot freshly prepared snacks and two or three shops where packaged food and beverages are available.

Lovely temple, ambience is so pleasent inside... Feeling of climbing the hill ... The garbh grah and all the swaroops of Maa everything was manage brilliantly... Beautiful place ... Resembles the feeling of visiting the actual shine of Maa Vaishnadevi. One should definitely visit this place during a tour of Ahmedabad.
Amit B — Google review
1. Visit Overview We visited the temple recently and it turned out to be a truly uplifting spiritual experience. From the moment we arrived, the sacred atmosphere, the surrounding nature, and the calm inside the temple combined to give a sense of peace. The temple grounds are well-kept, the staff and volunteers are welcoming, and the overall vibe is one of reverence and tranquility. 2. Timings & Access The temple is open for darshan from early morning — around 05:00 AM. It typically stays open until about 09:00 PM in the evening. There is a midday break in many sources (for example, temple closes from ~12:00 PM to 4:00 PM) in some seasons. Because you visited recently, you may want to confirm current timings on-site or via the temple’s official information, especially on festival days. 3. Facilities & Visitor Comfort Water facility: As you noted, there is drinking-water provision which is a big plus — especially in a place of pilgrimage where many visitors arrive. Food court & Prasad Ghar: The temple complex has a dedicated food court (for general meals) and a Prasad Ghar (where devotees receive blessed offerings). This clearly adds to convenience and makes the visit comfortable for families and groups. Atmosphere & scenic views: The surroundings are scenic — green, open and peaceful — making it not only a place of worship but also one where you can walk, reflect, and enjoy views. Maintenance & management: Cleanliness, organised queues (if any), and helpful staff add to the good impression. 4. Sacredness & Must-Visit Qualities The temple is clearly a must-visit for anyone in the area seeking a spiritually charged environment. The devotion, the architecture, and the ambiance work together. Because you noticed both good facilities and a holy vibe (not just touristy), it makes it useful for both serious devotees and casual visitors alike. The combination of nature, devotion and practical visitor amenities (water, food, prasad) means it scores on multiple counts. 5. Practical Tips for Visitors Arrive early in the morning if you prefer less crowd and more quiet time. Wear respectful attire — modest, comfortable for walking, especially if the terrain requires a little climb or walking path (as is common for many temples). If you intend to stay for a longer period or for meditation / reflection, check if there are sitting/meditation areas or quiet corners — the scenic surroundings here support it well. – Since there is a food court and prasad hall, you may plan your visit so that lunch (or mid day) is covered on site rather than searching outside. Carry a small water bottle or refill from the facility to stay hydrated. Check for any special event days, festivals or aarti timings if you wish to attend a special ceremony or get a more immersive experience. 6. My Overall Recommendation I would strongly recommend visiting this temple. If you have a few hours or a half-day free, carve out time for this location. You’ll walk away feeling spiritually refreshed, grounded and calm. The good visitor facilities mean you don’t have to compromise comfort for devotion — and the scenic setting means you can take a few minutes just to sit quietly and enjoy the surroundings.

I recently visited the man-made Vaishno Devi temple in Gujarat, and I must say it’s a beautifully created replica of the original shrine. The detailing, structure, and overall ambiance are really impressive, especially considering that entry is completely free. The place is well-maintained, peaceful, and gives you a spiritual vibe without the long travel or steep trek of the actual Vaishno Devi. It’s a great spot for families, kids, and elderly people who want to experience the feel of the shrine in a convenient and calm environment. Overall, it’s a good replica and definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby. 🙏

Vaishno Devi Mandir in Ahmedabad is built in 2007 and is dedicated to Goddess Vaishnodevi. This temple is a true replica of the original Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu and Kashmir and is a significant pilgrimage site for devotees in Ahmedabad, offering a similar experience to visiting the original temple. There is no entry fee for entering into the temple. People can visit the temple anytime between 5 am in the morning and 10 pm in the evening. This is near the Vaishno Devi Circle, Near Nirma Institute, Khoraj Cross Road, Sarkhej Gandhinagar Highway Located 14 to 18 kilometres from the Ahmedabad city centre, Vaishno Devi temple can be easily accessed via self-drive or cab or 🛺 auto rickshaw which normally is a 30 minute ride spanning 16 to 18 kms. from Ahmedabad city center. The auto charged me Rs250 one way to the temple. The temple is a replica of the original Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir and is well-managed. The journey to reach the main deity involves caves and irregular rocks, providing an adventurous experience. It gives a feeling of visiting Vaishnodevi Katra. The way up to the main deity involves crawling through cave-like passes, making it difficult for elderly people with knee or back pain to visit. If you are a 4XL person, you may find it challenging to pass through narrow paths. Refreshments, cold drink facilities, parking space, and prasad stalls are available. Overall a good experience.

A stunning slice of history! The architecture is absolutely mesmerising with intricate carvings and a peaceful vibe that transports you back in time. The site is clean and well maintained which makes the experience even more enjoyable. However, be prepared for crowds, especially during weekends or holidays—it’s clearly a popular spot for both tourists and locals. Despite that, it’s totally worth the visit for the beauty and heritage it offers. Tip: Go early in the morning for a quieter experience and better photos!

A very fine example of craftsmanship in stone and the art of building Step wells. Structure is well preserved and offers a glimpse of architectural mastery of the age. The Adalaj Stepwell (Rudabai Stepwell) is a magnificent five-story architectural marvel built in 1499, which holds the poignant history of Queen Rudabai who ensured its completion after her husband's death before tragically ending her own life. Modhera Sun Temple

Mentioned on
3 lists
Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
The Modhera Sun Temple, built in 1027 by Bhimdev of the Solanki dynasty, is a monumental Hindu temple known for its intricate sculptures and sacred reservoir. Similar to the famous Sun Temple at Konark, it was designed for the dawn sun to shine on the image of Surya during the equinox. The temple complex also features Surya Kund, a remarkable step-well with over 100 shrines.
The Modhera Sun Temple in Gujarat is an architectural masterpiece that transports you back to the grandeur of the 11th century. Built by King Bhima I of the Solanki dynasty, this temple is dedicated to Surya, the Sun God, and stands as a stunning example of India’s rich heritage and advanced craftsmanship. The moment you enter, the sight of the magnificent stepwell (Surya Kund) instantly captivates you. The symmetrical steps, intricately carved shrines, and reflections of the temple in the water create a truly divine atmosphere. As you move towards the main temple complex, the carvings on the walls come alive with stories from Hindu mythology—every sculpture has a tale to tell, depicting gods, celestial beings, and scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The temple’s design is ingeniously aligned with the solar movement—during equinoxes, the first rays of the sun illuminate the sanctum, symbolizing divine energy. Even though the idol no longer remains, the spiritual essence of the place is palpable. The Archaeological Survey of India has done an excellent job in maintaining the site. The lawns are well-kept, signage is clear, and the surroundings are peaceful. The nearby museum offers deeper insights into the temple’s history and Solanki architecture. Modhera is a must-visit for history buffs, architecture lovers, and anyone seeking serenity beyond the usual tourist circuits. Visit early in the morning or during sunset for the most enchanting views. Tip: Don’t miss the evening light and sound show—it beautifully brings the temple’s history to life.

An amazing monument built before 1000 years is a must visit place for everyone. This temple is a perfect example of extreme engineering and technology before 1k years. The entire campus kept neat and clean. The whole structure was built on sand stones and is located right on the tropic of cancer. Do understand the history of this temple with the help of registerd guide which was available there and will charge 500 Rs per group which is quite reasonable. Overall a must must visit place for every Indian.

My recent visit to the Modhera Sun Temple in Gujarat was nothing short of mesmerizing — a journey through time and artistry. Dedicated to Surya, the Sun God, this 11th-century masterpiece was built by King Bhima I of the Solanki dynasty and stands as a testament to India’s architectural brilliance. As I walked through the temple complex, the symmetry of the grand Surya Kund (stepwell), the intricate carvings on every pillar and wall, and the play of sunlight illuminating the sanctum left me in awe. The temple, aligned perfectly so that the first rays of the sun touch the idol of Surya during equinoxes, reflects the advanced astronomical understanding of that era. Even without the deity now, the spiritual energy of the place is palpable. Surrounded by serene landscapes and the gentle hum of history, Modhera Sun Temple is not just a monument — it’s a poetic fusion of science, devotion, and stone craftsmanship that every traveller should experience. Unfortunately, I could not wait for the late evening light-and-sound show as there was just too much time to wait, too much crowd and too much distance to cover back to Ahmedabad. Also, the weather was super hot! But the show, shot by a tourist is available on YouTube. It is one of the best shows at heritage sites. So, if you plan to visit Modhera, it will be beneficial to visit it around 5 pm giving you enough time to see the temple till the 7pm show. The Sarkari Archaeological Museum here is super sad though!

A truly mesmerizing and peaceful place to visit! The temple stands as a reminder of how advanced and artistic our ancestors were. The carvings are detailed, every pillar and wall tells a story — it’s hard to believe something built over 1,000 years ago can still look this stunning 🤯. The highlight here is the Surya Kund (stepwell) 💧— beautifully designed with hundreds of small shrines all around. The reflection of the temple in the water during sunrise or sunset looks magical 🌅. You can sit near the steps and just soak in the calmness; it feels timeless. The whole area is clean and well maintained 🌿, with greenery around and benches to rest. It’s quiet, peaceful, and perfect for photography 📸 or just a relaxing walk. 🚗 Parking is available nearby, and basic facilities like restrooms and drinking water are there, though could be improved a bit. ⭐ Overall, an amazing heritage site that makes you proud of Indian architecture and culture. A must-visit spot if you’re anywhere near Mehsana or Ahmedabad.

The Sun Temple at Modhera is truly one of Gujarat’s most breathtaking heritage sites. The stunning stepped tank and the incredibly detailed stone carvings create an atmosphere that feels like stepping into history. The architecture is precise, graceful, and filled with artistic stories that show the brilliance of ancient craftsmanship. The temple complex has a peaceful and calming vibe, with plenty of open space to walk around and admire its beauty from different angles. The sunlight beautifully highlights the carvings throughout the day, especially during early morning or late evening, making it a dream spot for photography and quiet reflection. Overall, the Sun Temple stands as a proud symbol of our culture and creativity. The area is well-maintained, staff members are polite, and the whole experience inspires curiosity and admiration for India’s rich past. A perfect place for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys serene and meaningful places!

After the Ranaki Vav in Patan, if you want to see another amazing piece of Solanki architecture, then the Modhera Sun Temple near Mehsana is a must-visit place. Built by King Bhimdev I in the 11th century, this temple is dedicated to Surya Narayana and you will be mesmerized by its carvings. ✨ Temple Features: Stunning Architecture: The temple is divided into three main parts: the magnificent Surya Kund (Ramkund) with 108 deris, the 52-pillared Sabha Mandap and the main Sanctum. Historical Carvings: The exquisite carvings of Ramayana-Mahabharata episodes, gods and goddesses on the walls of this temple give it the glory of being the 'Khajuraho of Gujarat'. Nearby Attractions: The Modheshwari Mata Temple, located near the Sun Temple, is also worth a visit. Special Guide for Tourists: This temple is located in the inner part of Modhera village. Public transport may charge a higher fare to reach here. Kind Request: To avoid this hassle, tourists are requested to bring their own personal vehicle, so that the visit is easy and economically convenient. If you use public transport, then get the exact information about the correct fare from the locals before deciding on the fare. Conclusion: A wonderful blend of history, sculpture and religious faith is the Modhera Sun Temple. This is a place that showcases the beauty and culture of Gujarat.

A stunning 11th-century Sun Temple built during the reign of Bhima I of the Chaulukya dynasty. Located about 100 km from Ahmedabad (approx. 2-hour drive), it's a beautifully preserved heritage site. Timings: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Tickets: Available at the entrance (nominal fee, cash preferred). The Surya Kund, intricate carvings, and temple layout are mesmerizing-especially during rains when the golden sandstone shines brilliantly. Tip: Visit early morning or late afternoon for the best experience. Comfortable shoes and water recommended.

The history of the temple is beautiful, and it is well maintained also just bcoz of birds the place is little stinking. Another thing do not take guide, that's waste of money, what you need to do is when you are at temple just open your Wikipedia, it has each and every information. And the guides are also speaking work to work from there only.

Water & Amusement Parks
Colorful water-based theme park with twisting slides, a lazy river & a splash pool for young kids.
Had an absolutely amazing time at Bliss Water Park! The rides were thrilling, the atmosphere was lively, and it was a perfect day out with friends and family. Everything was well-maintained, safe, and super fun. Great experience overall — highly recommend for anyone looking for a day full of excitement and memories!

I recently visited Bliss Water Park in Mehsana, and it was a day filled with both excitement and disappointment. The park itself is well-maintained and offers a good variety of rides. The wave pool is one of the major highlights — it’s clean, spacious, and gives you the real thrill of ocean waves. Another attraction that stood out was the Crazy River ride, which was total fun and perfect for families and friends looking for an exciting splash. However, my experience was ruined by the food. I had a meal from one of their food stalls, and it was a big letdown. The quality and hygiene seemed questionable. Unfortunately, just a few hours after eating, I started feeling uneasy and later suffered from food poisoning, which spoiled the rest of my trip and the following day as well. While the rides and water attractions are top-notch and worth the visit, the management seriously needs to improve the food quality and hygiene standards. I would recommend bringing your own food if possible or eating outside the park. Overall, Bliss Water Park is great for fun and adventure but fails when it comes to food safety.
Akash C — Google review
The park can easily house 2500 to 3000 people. We went there on a day which was a public holiday, but since there was long weekend, the number of people rhat arrived was less. It is a good water park with around 9-10 rides. Crazy river was one of the best rides. They have a separate children's area. Parking is free. We went there when there was an offer and got food inclusive at 900/-. 200/- was locker charge. 30/- was the charge of 1 photo(soft copy). It has around 9 to 10 big rides. You can easily do all of them without the express ticket. They allow it regular people and one express person. 8:1 ratio. So no real use of express ticket. Also in express ticket only a few Tower rides and crazy river is covered. Children will love the experience.

Had a fantastic time at the water park! The ticket price was totally worth it, especially with lunch included — the food was delicious, fresh, and way better than expected. What truly impressed me was their focus on safety and comfort. The security guards were actively monitoring the gents-only area, ensuring that families could enjoy the pool without any discomfort. There was a well-managed separation between the family zone and the gents’ section, all within the same pool, which made it comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. Highly recommend this place for a fun, safe, and well-organized day out with family! 🌊🍽️👍

Nice water activities but there are no lift to climb the high towers that makes you tired soon. Overall great water park in terms of safety, security and enjoyment. Too much rush on weekends so it’s better if u can visit on weekdays. Including food is also of good quality and great taste. We were unable to do all the rides due to rush and towers without lift to climb and timings of river is also very tough to catch, so if you wish to go through the river you need to plan accordingly and wait for some time.
Pawan K — Google review
Better experience than other waterpark, specially food is too good and free cool drinking water arrangements everywhere in water park. Best place to get best experience for rides and swimming. Credit goes to good management. Everything is best, one business idea is there of photography in wave pool. Few photographer take photos in camera and ask to take photos from studio which charged INR 30 per photos and it's mandatory to take all photos which is drawback with loosing one star, there should be option to choose photos from taken photos and pay for only choosen photos, everything else is best. 👌🏻

Bliss Aqua Waterpark is a great stop if you're heading towards Ahmedabad from Jodhpur it’s located around 10 km before Mehsana city, right off the highway. Just note that it’s on the opposite side, so you’ll need to take a U-turn about 200 meters ahead. The park has free parking, but the parking area is a bit far (around 200 meters from the entrance), so it’s better to drop your family at the gate first and then park the car. Entry opens at 10 AM. Tickets are available right at the main gate ₹899 for adults and ₹600 for kids below 4 feet. The best part? All tickets include coupons for a free unlimited lunch buffet. The food was decent we had puri, chana masala, rice, dal, and aamras. Just a heads-up, the dal is quite sweet (classic Gujarat style), but everything was fresh and filling. Now coming to the main attraction the rides. There are tons of options for both kids and adults. Many of the adult slides are designed for 2 people, a few for 3–4 people, and some are for solo riders. I’d definitely recommend visiting in a group of at least 2 to make the most of the multi-person slides. The slides are thrilling and on par with what you'd expect in big parks like Imagica. The wave pool is also quite good and adds to the fun.

Patan Patola Heritage is a museum run by the Salvi family, known for their expertise in double-ikat weaving since the 11th century. Visitors can witness the intricate process of Patola silk weaving and compare it with single-ikat textiles from around the world. The museum showcases a masterpiece elephant-motif sari and provides insights into the history of this craft and the family's journey from Maharashtra to Gujarat.
Visiting Patan Patola Heritage was a truly memorable experience. I had been wanting to visit for many years, and finally managed to make it this time. It was amazing to witness how beautifully they are preserving this ancient art form with such dedication and love. The team explained every detail patiently — from the weaving process to the cultural significance behind it. I left with deep admiration for their work, feeling grateful and proud to be from Gujarat, India. 🇮🇳

ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும். Do Not Travel to Gujarat from March to July, the heat is very very very High. We were lucky enough to see this wonderful museum, in Patan, where they tell the history and how the world famous patola sari's are made. There is a small entrance fee, and they take you through each and every process of how the wonderful, famous and costly patola saris are made. Once you finish going around, one can understand how much effort goes into making one patola saree and how time consuming it is to make one patola saree. The only negative we found was the entire presentation is in Hindi and they didn't allow us to take any photographs inside.

It is a very good museum and the information is given well and all the old things are kept very well.

It’s like a small museum. Good to know history of Patan Patola sarees. The design of the saree is put on the threads, vertical and horizontal. As the saree is weaved the design emerges from the thread. Very laborious and time consuming. They also have a piece of malmal, famous fabric that used to be weaved earlier in India. Story that weavers hands were cut so that it cannot be made again. The saree of that can be folded in a matchbox.

Sundha Mata temple is a nearly 900-year-old temple of Mother goddess Chamunda situated on a hilltop called Sundha, located at longitude 72.367°E and latitude 24.833°N, in Jalore District of Rajasthan, India. It is 64 km (40 mi) from Mount Abu and 20 km (12 mi) from the town of Bhinmal.[1] Geography At 1,220 m (4,000 ft) height in the Aravalli ranges on Sundha mountain there is a temple of thegoddess Chamunda Devi, worshipped as Sundha Matha by devotees. It is 105 km (65 mi) from district headquarters and 35 km (22 mi) from sub divisional Bhinmal. This place lies in Raniwara tehsil in the mid-east of Malwara to Jaswantpura Road near Dantlawas village. Many devotees from Gujarat and Rajasthan and the rest of India visit it. The environment here is fresh and attractive. The waterfalls flows year-round at the mountain. Many communities of different castes established community centres for devotees, and there are very good facilities to stay at the hilltop at night and worship Chamunda. Architecture Sundha Mata temple is made up of white marble, the pillars reminiscent of the art of Abu's Dilwara temples pillars. An idol of goddess Chamunda stands under the huge stone. Here Chamunda's head is worshipped. It is said that the trunk of mother Chamunda are established in Korta and legs in Sundarla Pal (Jalore). In front of mother Chamunda a BhurBhuva Swaweshwar Shivling is established. In the main temple a duo idol of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesh's idol are considered very old and extinct. History In the temple premises there are three historically significant inscriptions that highlight the history of the region. The temple of Sundhamata was constructed by Dewal Pratiharas with the help of Imperial Chauhans of Jalore. The first inscription is from AD 1262, which describes victory of Chauhans and the downfall of Parmaras. The second inscription is from 1326, and the third one is from 1727. The Sundha inscriptions are of particular importance in historical sense — like the Harishen inscription or Delhi's Mehrauli pillar inscription. Sundha inscriptions throw light on the history of India. In ancient days worship in this temple was done by Nath Yogis. Emperor of the Sirohi state gave land of the "Sonani", "Dedol" and "Sundha ki dhani" villages to one of the Nath Yogi Rabad Nath Ji, who worshiped in Sundha Mata Temple at that time. After the death of one of the Nath yogi Ajay Nath ji, no one was there to do the worship so Ram Nath ji (Aayas of Mengalwa that time) was taken there to take the responsibility. The land of Mengalwa and Chitrodi villages were given to these Nath Yogis in ancient days by king of Jodhpur Maharaja Jaswant Singh. So Nath yogi of Mengalwa were called as "Aayas". After the death of Ram Nath ji, Badri Nath ji, pupil of Ram nath Ji became Aayas at Sundha Mata temple and took the responsibility of worship. He also looked after land of "Sonani", "Dedol" ,"Mengalwa" and "Chitrodi". As the time passed, no one was there to do all the management, so a trust (Sundha Mata Trust) was created to look after temple and manage tourism. Shri Nath Ji Soni Sahib of Jaisalmer, the royal jewellers of the Jaisalmer State was also one of the prominent devotee of Sundhamata, another form of Chamunda Mata in Bhinmal, Jalore. Sundha Mata is the Kuldevi of the Shrimali Brahman Sonar of Lahecha Gotra i.e. Nathani Sonar.

This temple is 900 year old temple located at the top of the mountain sundha that’s why also know as sundha mata temple . It’s in jalore district of Rajasthan. A must visit place for trekking and nature lovers. You can see mountains, waterfalls and many other temples in between the way to the temple . One thing is that u should be aware of monkeys they will try to snatch your things . If u are not able to climb it by mountain so you can also take ropeway to the temple . If u are going by stairs then u will find many local shop to buy things . There will be a little bit crowded at temple . Sunrise and sunset view from the top is the best thing u will ever see . Don’t forget to climb sand dune that are at the back of the temple . From the top of the sand dune you will be able to see view of jungle and temple . I visited this temple in rainy season and on weekday

Worth a visit if you are not visiting any other Sand Dunes of Rajasthan.. is about a kilometer stretch of sand dune/hill.. Nice to experience sand.. However it is littered with plastic and broken liquor bottles, need to search for clean patches.. local government should ensure cleanliness of the only sand patch they have to promote tourism. Will get rickshaws from the railway station area.

Is this the whole desert ? No its a small part of what is a rapidly diminishing sand dune. You can drive to the top or climb it. I did both. What the place is for sure is a great place to view the sunset.

Mahabar sand dunes is not in large space but good to explore both in sunset and sunrise time. Its 1.5 km distance from Kushal vatika jain chitamani parshvnath temple and also one hotel Sanchel fort. It is away from city traffic and very peaceful spot for spending beautiful time with families and friends. No activities their as it remains peaceful. Enjoyed a lot in climbing sand dunes at sunset time and you can see the beautiful city in the shadow of sun , view is quite breathtaking and adorable.. A large area covered with Sand carpet formation leaves you unforgettable memories here. In the morning time you can visit from the top by car and get another view of sand dunes .

Ancient Ruins
The Kiradu Historical Temple, dating back to the 11th century, is a collection of five intricately carved temples dedicated to Hindu gods and apsaras. Although largely forgotten, these temples were constructed by the vassals of the Chaulukya monarchs during the Parmar Era. The best-preserved structure is the Someshvara temple, devoted to Shiva. These ruins showcase impressive architecture, scientific knowledge, and skilled craftsmanship.
Amazing ancient group of temples. Mostly ruins except three temples which are intact. Very Picturesque. We hired a guide who explained everything. The best thing is people don't know about this place so it was not crowded at all. Infact we were the only group when we arrived. Entry - 50 per adult

This group of Kiradu temples near Barmer is an example of art which will make people astonished. This is very old historical group of temples situated in Kiradu, Rajasthan founded by Parmar kingdom in the 11th century. It is surprising how they even exist today. Five temples still are there, biggest of them is Someswar temple. Some of the artwork is destroyed by attackers. Still what remains is amazing. It is not much famous and people don't visit this place. However this is worth visiting. Now Rajasthan Government is repairing these temples and creating connecting roads which will facilitate people to visit them. I request all to visit these temples.

This is a historical temple of 12th century which is very much influenced by the design of Ajaygarh Fort in Khajuraho and Bhuteshwar. Entry fee is Rs. 50. Nearest railway station is Jasai and Bhachbhar. My Instagram account =solosanyasi YouTube channel = solosanyasi

Although it is not very famous it is quite a heaven for people who are interested in history , art and culture ,this place situated around 40 kms from Barmer. It's an archaeological site now which was inhabited around 800 years back. Since then it's much of a ruin only. There are many local and historical stories attached to this place. It's a must visit place if one's around Barmer. People go further to Rann of Ridhana from here which falls on the same route. So quite a few things can be covered once someone is on this route.

Old monuments, which are not properly protected. But you can see a good views here. Real nature beauty , Various type of sparrows, grey ,blue , I have seen and enjoyed their humming sound. And also you can see many peacocks are running around like their home and very beautiful place. And some hill and monuments are damaged and kept aside. You can spend your time evening 4 to 7 for better.

Sam Sand Dunes Camp Jaisalmer is a desert resort offering furnished tents with en suite bathrooms, camel safaris, village tours, and jeep safaris. Located on the outskirts of Jaisalmer in the Desert National Park, it provides an ideal setting for leisurely trekking and a break from urban life. Guests have praised the lovely rooms and surroundings, helpful owner, and excellent service.
Jaisalmer and Barmer are world famous for their national desert parks whereas Sam situated in Jaisalmer is famous for its beautiful sand dunes and desert safari. While camping in Sam this Safari by 4×4 vehicles especially Jeeps giving an opportunity to have a thrilling ride on the ups and downs naturally created in the dessert. The flying sand forms various shapes while riding with the high speed on the sharp turns on the high sand dunes excite one to enjoy this safari in new ways. Many tourists were enjoying this safari before sunset. It seemed as if a magical world had been established on these lifeless sand dunes. After this safari, I enjoyed camel rides which was extremely entertaining. There were some women and girls from nearby areas also there, dancing with whom was a different kind of fun. I got the opportunity to talk with many tourists and friendship also grew. There was a small stall here from where we got packed drinking water and tea.

★☆☆☆☆ Fake Pictures and Very Bad Service This camp completely cheated us. They show beautiful pictures online, but nothing is like that in reality. The bedsheets were dirty, the camp was not clean, and the service was very poor. Totally unprofessional people — please don’t waste your money here!

Great tents were provided for us. The cultural program was nice, and the food was good. However, we felt the cultural program could have been a bit more interesting, as we got bored in the middle. It could have been better managed and more engaging. The food was good, and the staff were well-behaved

Room service is okay not upto mark u pay also food in not good u can consider other desert tank safari over this also negotiation is the key no get best price in nutshell we got per person price after negotiation half price of there price
Gaurav S — Google review
The camp itself was good, the service and rooms met our expectations. but the big letdown was the traditional dance show. The dancers looked completely uninterested and seemed to just go through the motions. It was obvious they were just waiting for the end of the program so guests would join them on the floor and they could collect tips. that was the only time they showed any enthusiasm. The performance was so lackluster it ruined our evening. Even though they wore traditional clothes, we didn’t see any real traditional dance, just a few seconds of dancing followed by standing around or doing unrelated movements. It definitely didn’t feel authentic or enjoyable. ruined our evening. the owners should look into this matter.

I had the pleasure of staying at Desert Camp Jaisalmer with my family during New Year's Eve, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! 🎉 From the moment we arrived, everything was taken care of. The facilities were top-notch, and we had everything we needed to feel comfortable. The staff, especially the caretaker, were incredibly polite and attentive, making sure all our needs were met. 🙏 The food was absolutely mind-blowing! 🤤 Every meal was packed with flavors, offering both local Rajasthani delicacies and other delicious options. It was a feast for the senses! 🍴 One of the highlights was the cultural dance program. 💃 It added so much charm and tradition to the evening, and we all loved watching the performances under the starry desert sky. 🌌 We were also treated to a personal bonfire 🔥, making the night even more magical and cozy. What made this place even more special was that it caters exclusively to families. There were no disturbances from bachelor parties or noisy groups, which ensured a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere throughout our stay. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Overall, Desert Camp Jaisalmer is a perfect spot for a family vacation. With great food, excellent hospitality, and a tranquil environment, it’s a place we’ll definitely return to! Highly recommend it for anyone looking to experience the desert in comfort and style. 🌟🌵

If you’re visiting Jaisalmer, the Sam Dunes Desert is an absolute must-see! Located 45 km from the city, it offers an unforgettable desert experience. You can easily book a cab for a round trip, which costs around ₹2300. I highly recommend booking a desert camp in advance for a hassle-free stay. The Sunrise Desert Resort camp we stayed at was only about 10 km from the dunes, and they also arranged for our 4x4 Thar ride to the desert for ₹4500, though prices can be negotiated down from the initial ₹8000. The desert safari package includes a thrilling ride to the desert and offers a variety of activities such as parasailing, camel rides, and desert buggy rides. Keep in mind, though, that all activities are extra. Make sure to pack your own food and drinks, as there are no facilities available once you’re out in the desert. If you’re planning on driving there in your own vehicle, ensure it’s suitable for desert terrain to avoid any issues. Once in the desert, you’ll have about 30 minutes to explore, take photos, and enjoy the surroundings. There are photographers available to capture your moments, with photos and reels costing ₹20 and ₹50 respectively. Upon returning to your camp, a camel ride to the Sunset Point is included in the safari package (about 1.5 km). Be aware, though, that the camel handlers may try to sell you an additional ride into the desert for ₹1500. You can either take it or just enjoy the sunset from the point. While they may rush you towards the end, take your time to savor the view—it’s worth it! Overall, it’s a fantastic experience, and despite a few extra charges here and there, it’s definitely one of the highlights of a Jaisalmer trip. Enjoy your desert adventure!
